2023 Year in Review: Number 1

Number one. My absolute favorite project I've worked on this year. Drumroll please! 🥁🥁🥁

The Autumn Bookworm Set!

This was one of my biggest projects this year, and one of the most fun. The gif above doesn't do the items justice.

I could write multiple posts on everything that went into these items, from color selection to item expansion. I actually did post a set of reflections on the creation of this set here, but I won't bore you with reiterating all of them. Suffice it to say that I enjoyed this set from start to finish, especially finding the poems that gave names and descriptions to the items. And as a new revelation: I've wanted to recolor the Hipster Hugger couch for a long time, and this was the first time I'd gotten around to it. I love the mesh of that couch, because it looks so comfortable, but the original colors go with very little. You'll even see items from this set reappear in the screenshot of the first new item of 2024, in a different build than usual.

And that concludes my year in review! Thank you all for your support this year. It makes me grin whenever I see that people have liked or reblogged my creations. I especially love comments! It's rewarding to see what people like and find useful in their games.

Autumn, the best season for reading (x)

i want to spend the rest of the cold season staying home & reading children's books

4th oct '23 — spending the autumn equinox blowing my money on my vinyl collection and books i don't need, lingering outside cafes with friends, sharing a cigarette, and drinking way too much hot chocolate. it's a shallow existence.

tore my shelves apart to share some autumn reads with you

This Claude McKay poem is so pretty; I just love the imagery. It's the perfect accompaniment to this warm and welcoming bed.

I revived the mesh from my Autumn Bookworm bed and created new winter and holiday inspired textures for it. This included creating a few (from scratch!) repeating patterns to spice up the bedding: Christmas trees, snowflakes and pine trees. Although the pattern of snowflakes repeats, within a single iteration of the pattern, no two snowflakes are identical. They were fun to make.
