"We need more male characters who aren't stereotypes about their gender!!!"You guys can't even handle the idea that a character being an adult man dosen't mean he's horny all the time or up for casual sex just because he's hot

I actually find it funny when people will say the heroes need to kill more villains instead of arresting them when, from where I'm looking, every instance of the heroes killing a villain(s) has led to some consequence that would've been avoided had they just been taken in alive. (Which evidence has often shown them quite capable of doing.)
Lady Nagant was made to kill loads of people, driving her crazy and leading her to kill her boss and deprive the hero side of one of it's best. Her case feels like a big reason why killing on the regular would be incompatible with the rest of the hero shtick; 'cause it turns out people with lots of blood on their hands have trouble using them to then shake the hands of children.
Tumblr media
People say All Might should've killed AFO; but you can tell both from All Might's dialogue in Kamino & from how AFO regrew his head that that's exactly how their first fight ~7 years ago ended. AFO's brains met the pavement that day. And I can only assume this allowed his body to be easily recovered & revived, letting him lay low for the next 6 years to mould Tomura into a successor and orchestrate a good portion of the conflicts we've seen in this series. Just saying, that sounds much harder to do from Tartarus. And at least the heroes knew when he broke out of jail way faster then when he broke out of the grip of death. Heck, it could easily be argued he only broke out of jail thanks to that 6 years of set-up.
Tumblr media
Oh and where to start with Hawks killing Twice? Maybe how it enraged Toga & Dabi to make them more crazy & dangerous, maybe how it affected people's trust in heroes? Oh but the big one has to be how leaving Twice as a corpse let his blood be collected for Toga to get a parade off anyway; one the heroes were unprepared for too, which distracted a lot of the pros meant to keep AFO in Gunga. All of which could've been avoided if Hawks had just taken Twice in alive. (Which I must reiterate he easily could have done; I mean his quirk was shown pretty easily countering a Parade.) The heroes wouldn't have had to deal with a Parade in this war at all if Twice was sitting pretty in a jail cell next to Compress & Geten.
Tumblr media
I can't help but think those last two cases could be a surprisingly common occurrence too if heroes killed as much as some readers say they should. Like, could you imagine if every dangerous villain in Japan's history was killed and then just dumped somewhere for a guy like Dr. Garaki to get his hands on them the same way he got Shirakumo?
So anyway, between the mental health issues it causes, combined with how villains keep finding ways to perform necromancy; I'm just not seeing a lot of evidence that things go well for the heroes when they kill villains, or that they'd go much better if the heroes were kill-happy soldiers of the war on villainy all the time.

The reason why I can't behind any of the characters or things they do is that they're made into hypocrites.
You got Mina and Eijirou who're against bullies yet are friends with Bakugou don't do anything when he gets onto All Might.
Hawks who had a past with an abusive father and when Endeavor is exposed as one, he doesn't react or say anything about it.
Izuku with his quirkless past yet doesn't offer any sympathy towards those like him, like how he tried to make Nighteye laugh or Aoyama.
And then there's Aizawa... the guy's a walking hypocrite so I don't feel like going into any of the things he did.
All this makes it difficult to really get behind and like these characters when they contradict their characteristics this much all to make the worse characters look good.
Hi @theloganator101 👋,
Exactly this. Hori's characters act how HE wants them to to service the plot rather than what would fit their characters. So we have situations like this where they become hypocrites and bad things are implied about them. We have talked about Aizawa before so I'll focus on Izuku, Kirishima, Mina and Hawks.
Izuku - was quirkless, was horrifically abused by Bakugou for this as well as daring to try to help him out a river once.
Also Izuku - is NOT allowed once to reflect on the similarities between Aoyama and himself. Is NOT allowed to think one bit on his quirkless past or the horrific bullying (abuse) he went through. Does not seek to change the status quo now that he is a part of it. Or think about how HE could change how quirkless are being treated. This in my most charitable interpretation could be Izuku's self hatred coming out full force, he doesn't want to think about when he was quirkless so he doesn't. But this could also be construed as arrogance, stupidity and narrow minded-ness.
Izuku - knows in graphic detail the Todofam situation, is best friends with Todoroki Shoto and confronted Endeav for being a POS when he first met him.
Also Izuku - Acts like a fanboy of Endeavor in the agency arc and defends Endeavor to Dabi's face (another of Endeavor's victims.) - This puts a sour taste in my mouth not going to lie, this reads as Izuku thinking, 'because he's nice to me and he says he's going to change all is good now!' Also (unlike defending Shoto) defending Endeav just isn't necessary here. No one is denying Endeavor's mentorship or heroism skills. Dabi is saying he is an abuser and a shit dad which - you know - he is. Izuku reads as a naive, narrow-minded teenager at best here. There are better ways Hori could have worded Izuku stepping in - this wasn't it.
Mina and Kirishima: 'We hate bullies!' 😠 Very vocally anti bully, their heroism stories each center on it.
Also Mina and Kirishima: look on as Bakugou acts like the BIGGEST bully for all of the academic year and decide to become his besties. - This can be read as them being too thick to work out Bakugou is a bully at best. At worst... They read as cowards and hypocrites. The 'It's ok as long as he's not picking on me or my friends,' type.
Hawks: has an abusive father that was taken into custody by Endeav before being taken by the HPSC and enduring more intense training (likely abuse.)
Also Hawks: Despite his past abuse as an adult licks the boots of another abusive father, Endeav (Endeav's boots must be super shiny.) - Are we still pretending Hawks is an actual character at this point? All he is now is an Endeav Simp with some 'I killed Twice' angst sprinkled in. But I will save the major pieces of salt regarding Hawks for the ask I have about him. Least charitable interpretation - Hawks has LOW empathy thanks to his abusive childhood and latches on hard to a select few (Endeav) who he will protect, screw everyone else. Hawks doesn't care about Endeav's past child abuse, spousal abuse and literal crimes just what he means to him. Most Charitable - Hawks is an abused messed up person who never grew up past his idealisation of Endeav and clung to anything that meant he could keep the 'hero Endeav' in his mind intact.
With all of these deductions in mind, characters we are meant to root for feel flat, hypocritical, OOC and just downright bizarre at times.
Why? Because Hori bends characters to his script rather than writing the script for what works for the characters.

But what a pleasure ! Two years that hundreds of Hawks stans come whining in my mentions, claiming that Hawks in his infinite wisdom avoided a disaster by killing Twice but now even Horikoshi comes to show you that it's bullshit :D
Tumblr media
And the best part is that not only what Hawks did was totally pointless and unjustified but he's also directly responsible for what is happening now. If he had done his fucking job correctly instead of stabbing a mentally ill man in the back, Toga wouldn't be such a threat for the heroes now.
I hope the pill won't be too bitter for you guys because from my side, I really enjoy this moment

How would you rewrite the Endeavor intership arc?
Ooh, OK!
Cut all the bullshit with Fuyumi praising Endeavour.
When Bakugo sees Endeavour and how awful he is, have this be where Bakugo REALLY starts to put in the effort to change. He becomes less angry, can talk to Izuku calmly, becomes less of a dick to Shoto, etc.
Have Dabi attack them, Hawks come in, and THIS is where we get Dabi vs Hawks, where Dabi fries Hawks' wings off, while alluding to something big coming. (The war arc.)
To lean into this, at the beginning, have them all beat some minor baddies who seem...oddly not to upset with being defeated. Saying stuff like, "You comfortable in that spot of power, "hero"?" Again, really lean into the fact that suit's gonna go down soon.
Also, I wouldn't have it be Izuku, Bakugo and Shoto interning. I'd have it be Izuku, Bakugo, Shoto...and Momo. Because then, A) She can better protect Shoto from Endeavour, and B) We can get Momo meeting Shoto's family.

hawks had no reason to kill twice.
like ignoring that it is an extrajudicial punishment and never should have happened, there’s also no reason for it to have happened.
people try to justify it by saying hawks was preventing a rampage by killing him but he had already debilitated him
like these are hawks’ own thoughts during the fight before he kills twice:
Tumblr media
so unless this translation is wrong (if it is please tell me) then there was absolutely no reason for him to kill him. like he literally just decided to do that for no fucking reason. why do people act like hawks had no other choice??

Oh my god if I see season 6 come out and I see people be like “poor hawks he wants to join the villains but he has to do what the commission says uwu” I’m gonna fucking lose it.
Not once does this dude actually express the fact that he cares for the villains. “Oh but he was nice to them” ITS CALLED ACTING. HE WAS UNDERCOVER. IF YOU BELIEVED HE WAS ON THE SIDE OF THE LEAGUE GUESS WHAT - YOU BOUGHT IT. YOURE GULLIBLE. THE WHOLE POINT OF HIS MISSION WAS TO MAKE THEM TRUST HIM.
I literally saw someone say recently that Hawks loved Twice. LOVED HIM AND THAT HE WAS A FUCKING TRAGIC HERO FOR HAVING TO KILL HIM!!!! Do you know how fucking stupid that sounds?!
“But he was offering to help rehabilitate them! Twice instigated the fight!” Twice didn’t fight back. Twice also knew that the “rehabilitation” Hawks had in mind was just throwing them all into Tartarus. There is no rehabilitation in the BNHA universe. That’s fanon. I should know because I fucking MADE a rehabilitation au.
“Twice’s quirk was dangerous! He had to get rid of him!” Again. Twice wasn’t fighting back. He tried to run and was LITERALLY STABBED IN THE BACK. He was escaping. He was trying to get away.
“But if he’s a dangerous criminal! Hawks had to protect himself and others!” POLICE/HEROES SHOULDNT SHOOT UNARMED PEOPLE! POLICE/HEROES SHOULDN’T SHOOT GUILTY PEOPLE EITHER! POLICE/HEROES SHOULDNT SHOOT ANYONE! AND IF YOU TRULY WANTED TO REHABILITATE THIS PERSON YOU WOULDNT FUCKING KILL THEM!
“Hawks had no other choice. The Commission-” Hey. Hey. Look at me. If someone tells you to do something, you don’t have to do it. It’s called free will. I will admit he was probably abused and brainwashed by the Commission. But like. This dude does not change his tune. He does not want to break free of the Commission. He doesn’t struggle with following his orders. We’re talking about the dude who said that he’d “corrupt himself” for the good of the mission. He’s fine where he is. He’s a goddamn lapdog. He’s a huge contrast to Lady Nagant, who was actually remorseful at what the Commission made her do and tried to quit (and was punished for it).
“Dabi just let Twice die!” Dabi attacked Hawks to help Twice escape but failed. It was not his intention to let Twice die.
“But he was filming it to frame Hawks!” He wanted footage to prove Hawks was a bad person in general. That was the footage he happened to get.
“Dabi abused Hawks.” Just attacking someone is not abuse. Abuse occurs when one party has a position of power over the other. Dabi was just attacking him. And if you have a problem with him attacking people, I hate to break it to you - it’s a shonen manga. With people literally labelled as heroes and villains. There has to be conflict and Hawks literally just killed a man. I think Dabi can attack people if he wants to.
“Dabi was happy Twice died! He was laughing!” Dabi says with his own damned mouth that he can’t cry. He’s also been shown to, even before he was Dabi and when he was Touya, smile when being hurt. Touya, you know, the kid with an abusive father. The kid that wanted so much attention from his abusive father that he repeatedly hurt himself to “make him stronger” and would then smile to hide his pain. Dabi smiling at Twice’s death isn’t because he’s happy. He’s grieving and he can’t cry. (Side note: Shigaraki also smiles when in pain.)
Enough about Hawks.
(Also can we talk about the fact that Dabi called out Endeavour for his behaviour and Best Jeanist told him to shut up and keep “personal matters” off of tv and when Endeavour admitted to the child abuse Burnin basically said there’s no proof?)

Man but does it not just figure that the heroes and reporters filling in for medical personnel would so urgently prioritize Ochako and not even mention Toga, despite her likely having the least blood of the two?
We mustn’t forget how half the reason Toga did her blood transfusion stunt was because everyone there besides the unconscious Uraraka (and maybe Tsuyu?) is neutral towards her survival at best, and then only if they believe she’ll be locked up for life. I can't say there's been much reason for that to change in the past hour either.
Tumblr media
Please don't misunderstand, I of course want Toga to live; and what's more, I'm confident she will live since there's no good ending to Ochako's arc where she doesn't. But that doesn’t mean I wanted the whole conflict that caused her to fear for her life for years, lead her to this situation in the first place, to be brushed aside because these heroes and civs are all of a sudden such good people who of course will save her. No they aren't; Hawks told everyone there to murder her like half an hour ago. Ochako may find her as cute as us villain stans, but she's somewhere between Moonfish & AFO to the rest of them.
I can't see these heroes being the ones to ultimately save her without at the very least seeing someone feel the need to ask "what do we do with the villain losing blood?"

I find it weird that MHA kinda attempts to say that Twice’s death was wrong, even though it really wasn’t.
Like, I like Twice but that MF would’ve absolutely ran everyone into the ground. Twice had his chance at redemption but ultimately sacrificed it in favor of loyalty to his group.
Also, TF was Hawks supposed to do in that situation? Just step aside and say: Sure, kill thousands of innocent people and possibly put the world into anarchy, have fun sweetie 🥰
Hi @palesweetscherryblossom 👋,
My opinion on Twice's death is that narratively speaking, it shouldn't have happened.
But he needed to be taken out of the story for there to be any stakes for the villians. I just wish Hori had Hawks capture him and put him into custody alongside Compress.
You are right when you say Twice could not be allowed to run amok because with his power, he is a one man army. He is OP!
But I like Twice.
I view him as a more redeemable character than the villian characters that MHA keeps trying to tout as redeemable (Toga, Dabi, and Shig.) Since Twice was the way he was through a mix of bad luck, poverty, poor mental health and a lack of support plus he seemed to genuinely care for the LOV and Hawks which is up for debate with some of the other characters up for redemption (Dabi and Shig.)
I am of the opinion that Hawks could have been able to capture Twice if he really wanted to.
Remember how, with his speed, he was instantly able to capture that flasher when he was with Endeavor? He could have easily at any time caught Twice unaware and alone since Hawks knew Twice deemed him a friend. Yet Hawks chose that moment to mock Twice, corner him, injure him and reveal his hand as a traitor. Why?
Surely, as a spy and a seasoned hero, he should know that Twice would see that as a betrayal and become enraged. He also was a spy for long enough that Hawks should know that Twice would not accept any offer of 'redemption' just for himself at all - especially not if he had to betray the friends he cared for to get it.
You could argue with Dabi showing up the situation immediately spiralled out of Hawk's control - which it did.
However, why didn't Hawks try to kill Dabi in that moment, the active threat and the logical choice to kill in self defence, rather than the villain running away from him?
This is because I believe that Hawks always intended to kill Twice in this moment.
I also believe that the offer for Twice's redemption was merely as a way to make himself look better in the recording Hawks was taking of the showdown rather than a sincere offer on his end.
If it had been sincere, Hawks would have delivered the redemption offer in a way where Twice would have been more ammendable to it - possibly when he was already behind bars and recieving therapy.
TLDR - No, Hawks couldn't allow Twice to run amok with the villains. However, he could have captured him if he really wanted to. Yet Hawks didn't want to because he wanted the threat of Twice's double quirk eradicated.
The regret for this decision as well as the ramifications of it should have been a core part of Hawks character along with him re-evaluating the HPSC's teachings and what being a hero really means to him.
But Hori wastes the potential of what could have been an interesting character / interesting character arc to prop up Endeavor and his "redemption arc" instead.

Proshitter Bnha fans be like 'Dabi would flirt with Izuku/Bakugou/Momo if they were villains!!!' as if Dabi 'Eldest brother who's a disabled punk that brutalized and publicly humiliated a cop for killing his best friend over having DID' Todoroki wouldn't see a severely traumatized kid with a hodgepodge of neurodivergent disorders join his team and immediately adopt them as his younger sibling(which btw he already did with Toga in canon but as far as they're concerned she dosen't exist)
