mr kreideprinz, upon noticing his beloved y/n's exhausted aura, immediately tears himself away from his own work to focus on you

he'll think of ways to make you feel better

and his logic will eventually tell him that for you, just a hug and quality time would be just fine

so he does just that <3

"ah, y/n...i can tell you're not feeling the best today. is there anything i can do to make you feel better?"

already knowing the answer, he wraps his arms around you in a warm hug

this man doesn't need to do anything too much to show his love for you

as you're feeling tired, he simply hugs you close and whispers words of affirmation into your ear

he also kisses the top of your head and your forehead

he'll also sacrifice time off his art and various scientific works to spend quality time with just you

"hmm...i know you're tired today. it's okay, everyone gets tired from time to time. you're a hard worker, y/n. i'm proud of you."

zhongli - 钟离 ➵

here we have the geo archon, zhongli!

he's lived with mortals for some time now, so he knows that they get tired a lot

but he's never really seen you tired, since you're always such a diligent and hard working person

so when he sees that you're tired, he knows that he needs to comfort you

since you're his one and only, why else <3

"my precious y/n...what's the matter? did someone hurt you? why are you so tired?"

once you explain what's happened, he tells you to take a break every once in a while

of course, he makes you sit down

and gets you fluffy blankets

and tea, his speciality <3

perhaps he'll get a book and sit next to you, running his fingers through your hair

as he reads the book out loud

letting you go to sleep with him right beside you

venti - 温迪 ➵

venti, also known as barbatos, has a free, wandering spirit

and he also doesn't get tired enough to remember what it is in his thousands of years of being alive

so you have to understand when he doesn't understand what tiredness is to you

venti also doesn't live among mortals often, so he also doesn't really get why and how they get tired

however, since you're his beautiful y/n, he immediately goes into protective mode, shielding you from your own work

and distracting you from it by offering you an abundance of poetry and other things you like

so he basically becomes your servant while you're tired <3

"y/n...what would you like me to do for you today? should i make you something to eat? perhaps you'd like a song from mondstadt's favourite bard, ehe~"

he does try to make you something to eat as promised, but he's not good at cooking so it fails miserably

but of course, his music entertains you

he stays by your side as you rest on his orders

fingering the strings of his lyre until his fingers are sore from rubbing so much

but he doesn't stop because he knows that it's helping you soothe yourself

he'll also hug you and cuddle you endlessly

also telling you jokes and making you laugh

"ehehe...i'm glad you like my music, y/n! but seriously...you need to stop overworking yourself. i don't like seeing you upset!"

xiao - 魈 ➵

the mighty adeptus himself never gets tired

but when you're tired, he notices immediately

he tells you to sleep, and that he'll be back once you awaken

this is, of course, because he needs to fend off the karmic debt inflicted upon him by slaying monsters 24/7

he's not trying to be impatient or anything when he tells you to go to sleep and rest

but as we all know, xiao isn't good with emotions, so let him off the hook as always

he just doesn't know how to express his concern for your tiredness without coming off as rude or snappy

"y/n, if you're tired, just go to sleep. i'll be back when you open your eyes. if you need me, call my name. adeptus xiao. i will be here when you call."

xiao can't be with you physically, but the second you miss him in the slightest, you call his name

he gives up and caves in, stopping his slaying to lay beside you while you rest in bed

as i said before, he's not good with emotions so don't expect him to cuddle you or kiss you or anything

but he does show his concern for your tiredness in other ways

he tells you stories of his life, and how he's always here for you no matter what

he'll refrain from touching you awhile, afraid he'll hurt you without meaning to

but he softens when you snuggle into him, drifting off to sleep as he whispers to you, warm words from an adeptus who's seen years of despair and hardship

but yet he still manages to make time for you

and for just his everlasting presence while you sleep, you're grateful

"y/n...you don't need to worry about a thing while i'm here. i'll always be here for you. now, get some rest."

Genshin Men Texting Their s/o Headcannons (Part 2)

Characters: Alhaitam, Zhongli, Cyno, Thoma, Lyney

Content: Gn! Reader; Genshin AU; established relationship

💚Alhaitam💚

Surprisingly, he's not as cold and distant as how he's often made out to be. In texts, his feelings and exact thoughts (positive or negative) are always expressed clearly and straightforward. 'I surprisingly found it really fun, we can go back again next time' or 'it could've been better, but I honestly didn't mind. We can try somewhere else you like next time' Still, he's not much of a texter in general, so he doesn't message much, though he always replies with his full attention when you send him a text.

His replies always come to you within just a few minutes: not too quick to respond but not long too either, just the right amount of time.

Alhaitam isn't one to talk much about his day in texts, he's just not much of a fan of texting in general and he mostly focuses on work during his office hours.

He most definitely prefers to talk in person once he comes home to you, so he can see/hear you express your thoughts better and more efficiently. Though if he can't see you that night, he would still let you know about his day through texts after work or, preferably, a call.

If you send him some video links you'd have to wait by the end of the day/during his break before he goes back to it. Alhaitam would prefer to view the things you send him when he's in his 'relaxed mode'. He also takes mental notes on the things you send as a reference to understanding more about the things you like or things you'd find interesting.

Though, he might get a bit overwhelmed if you send your entire feed of 100 links a day, so make sure to not send too many at a time.

Alhaitam can easily pick up on your texting patterns and know when you're feeling down. He'll ask about what's wrong right away 'is there something wrong? It seems like your mood's a little down. You can tell me, what's been bothering you?' though if you just say 'it's nothing' after he kept asking, he'll just say 'okay, I'll see you later when I get home then.' But then he'll find the time to leave work early to take you to your favorite food place, saying that it's because he didn't want you to have an upset feeling before you sleep.

🧡Zhongli🧡

He texts in the exact same way on how you would expect him to speak in person: refined but friendly. Though, when it comes to you, of course there would be a touch of sweetness to his tone when he messages you. (only you) Actually a bit of a boomer in texting.

Though there's nothing special that he specifically does to his messages, there just seems to always be this delightful tone when you read his texts. You don't know how to describe it, it's just his overall vibe.

He absolutely enjoys reading your messages as you endlessly babble about practically anything. Zhongli would definitely find anything you do to be endearing.

Though if you're less on the chatty side, don't worry, Zhongli can definitely pack up endless stories for you. Ranging from mundane events to grand, historical ones- Zhongli would know which ones you would definitely find interesting. (And would know the right amount to share which wouldn't feel too intimidating or overwhelming for you)

Typically replies quickly since he's taking it easy in the retired life, now only working as a simple consultant. (He has all day)

If you send him links to videos, memes, and articles, he would be very much excited to engage a conversation with the things you sent him. It doesn't matter how much you send, Zhongli would find them very interesting and enthusiastically respond with his thoughts on every single one of it. 'A picnic by the lake sounds like a splendid idea indeed, my dearest. I'll prepare the necessary arrangements needed for a trip to the mountains. And you needn't worry about the snacks, my expertise don't just simply lie within understanding history and antiques.' Afterall, these are things that describe you and your interests.

💜Cyno💜

Only one way to describe this man: a millenial dad with broken humor. He will text with you a lot of his dad jokes, and sometimes, he takes it so far as to planning exactly when he'll send you that text.

His texts look dry and serious, but don't get him wrong, he absolutely loves it when you text him, you're his favorite person to talk and listen to. He is just naturally monotone-sounding. He's actually not even serious at all. (More unserious than any of these men)

Random texting about things he's up to, gossip, or random facts he learned about practically anything. (Similar to Itto but a different flavor)

Might use emojis every now and then but they don't match his statement. It's amusing to read though, as it sort of matches the spontaneous personality he has under that serious facade 'im hungry and craving tacos so much that i will resort to eating my own hand by 1pm🦧'

When it comes to explaining some lore from a series or mechanics about a game (basically anything he could geek about) expect the longest paragraphs you'll ever recieve from anyone, ever. I'm talking about an in-depth thesis essay about why his deck of Sucrose, Mona, and Jean are the best for his TCG tournament and how he will use them during battle- all sent into a single message. (It took him an hour to reply because of this)

Easily picks up if you're not in high spirits and instantly gives you all of his attention and concern. Will ask how you feel and comfort you, asking what he can do to help make you feel better.

When this happens, he will be texting you the entire time, listening to you and comforting you as you talk, but then all of a sudden you get a random reply from him 'you locked your door. I mean thats a good thing that you do but can you please open it. Its raining really hard right now im soaked.' You open the door to see him drenched with a straight face on, holding a plastic bag 'I got you some chips'

He sends you memes a lot. His instict is to immediately send you anything he finds remotely funny.

In random times of the day, you'll get an out of context message that confuses you, only to realize it was actually a joke.

'Where are you?'

'I'm at home, why?'

'Theres a poster of you here and i thought someone reported you missing'

'Huh?? I'm not? I'm where you last saw me. What poster??

*sends you his low quality drawing*

'I'm blocking you.'

'You get it? Its hillarious right? You see i purposefully held back from explaining my first statement right away so that it would leave you in a state of confusion. Then after that i further timed to-'

❤️Thoma❤️

Absolutely expressive in texts. Definitely screaming golden retriever vibes. Even calls you all sorts of cute pet names. The sweetest cutie-patotie.

He often uses emojis, exclamation marks, stickers, and even loves customizing your nicknames and chat backgrounds.

Loves to type verbal expressions like 'awww' 'hehe' 'huhu'. Definitely expressive in how he feels.

Always a man of reassurance and feeding you with constant words of affirmation about his affection and appreciation towards you. And it's not just hollow words, he expresses them through his actions too.

Thoma bookmarks everything you send to him and will think it would be a good idea to do for the future. (For your birthday, christmas, monthsary, or any special ocassion) and he actually keeps everything you mentioned you like or mention in his notes app (he doesn't let you take a peep at it, but you just know it's more organized than anything in your drawer)

The type to always be ready to send you a long, sweet message at 12:00 AM when it's a special date for you/the both of you.

Always asks how you're doing and checking in on your well-being. The sweetest boy to have ever existed.

Eventually develops the same texting pattern and humor as you overtime. Especially based on the memes and other things you send him.

Will ask you where you are every now and then before lunch time saying: 'Hey love, where are you right now? I brought you some lunch, i hope I'm not late, am I?? You haven't gone out to eat yet? Huhu. I cooked you a bento meal filled with your favoritess~😊❤️'

❤️Lyney❤️

Always cheerful and enthusiastic. He definitely always has a bit of a flirty tone when he texts you, hoping to make you smile and giddy because of him.

Even though he often uses his charismatic facade to charm everybody (since it's common for a magician), you know his flirtatious tone towards you is Lyney actually being flirty with you. Genuinely. He loves being all romantic with you.

Often talks about his siblings either like a proud or concerned father. (They are practically the same age)

Likes to send you some tricks that can be done through the phone/over a call since he can't perform new magic tricks for you in person, that time.

Lyney loves showing off his charm to woo you, it makes him feel happy to know if his efforts to make you giddy are successful, so please acknowledge it, and don't tell him it's not working or it's cringe through texts (it's harder for him to read your tone and expression), it'll make him really embarassed and lose his confidence, might make the poor thing a tiny bit insecure.

Once you mention you're feeling down or if you encounter a problem, he'd immeditely turn into concern and drop everything he's doing, only being able to think about you and how to help you. Though he tries not to show it, his concern for you grows big enough as if it became even his problem. (Sometimes it ended up that Lyney became the one who was more worried). He just grew up having to strongly care about his family, and to him, you are like family too (a partner sort of family)

'Where are you right now?? Do you still feel a bit upset??'

'Don't worry, I'll come to you right away. Please just give me a few minutes, I promise I'll be quick.'

'Do you want some ice cream or some snacks? I'll buy some on the way'

'Nevermind, I just bought both of it and a few other things you might want. I hope you're alright over there.'

'Hey, I'm sorry I'm taking so long, the road was blocked so I took the other way, I'm hurrying right now.'

'I know it's only been 10 minutes but I can't help but worry for you okay? I'm really close by now. I'll see you in a bit.'

note: genuinely enjoyed reading the reblog comments of this one person, wow they binged my m.list while I was away! here's a new drabble

A mutual pining scenario with Zhongli and Reader.

It's so clear to you that he likes you; the funeral consultant treated you with so much patience and care, that you didn't even hesitate to confess when you found the right chance.

Except, to your surprise, he rejects you.

You wonder if you only assumed his affection; if you overestimated yourself to be someone of his caliber or taste. When you softly ask for a reason, the man simply blushes and looks away.

"You're... much too young for me," He simply states and you're confused. You're definitely of age — in fact, you're around the same age as him! What does he mean you're too young?

A sudden realization came to you, "Could it be.. you like older people, mister Zhongli?" You look at him in distraught, knowing that's a quality you can never quite change.

"You could say I do." He explains and in your heartbreak, you can't help but ask next:

"Could... Captain Beidou or Lady Ningguang be more your type?" You ask quietly, knowing that the two are a few years older than you.

"Ah no... A little bit older."

Your mind starts reeling, thinking of all your older, mutual friends in Liyue.

"M-madam Ping?" You stutter and he blinks at you, a bit astounded at the suggestion.

"She has her charms, yes, but please don't mistake my acquaintanceship with her as something else," Zhongli states and you blink back at the fact that he even considered the older lady as an option. Just how old was Zhongli's preference?

Then a striking thought came to mind: the age doesn't have to show!

"Could it be you like Ganyu?" You gasp, she's the oldest person you know by far. Her age spanning all the way to the archon war — of course, the ever so mature and composed funeral consultant would be infatuated with such a wise and diligent servant of the geo archon—

"Oh dear no, I can never see that child in such a way," He says and for a second, his words register in your mind.

That child?

That child??

Zhongli seems to realize it too as he looks at you with wide eyes, mouth agape to try and cover up whatever it is that he seems to be hiding.

"Y/n, I-"

"Oh my archons, you're-"

"Please don't say it-"

"All this time you've been-"

"I didn't intend to keep you in the dark so-"

"You're an adeptus!" You squeal in understanding and Zhongli looks at you, frozen. You did get it right but at the same time, you're somewhat wrong. He stays silent as you go on a ramble, hands waving in excited gestures.

"No wonder! It actually makes so much more sense! You're so smart and wise, of course you'd be an adeptus!"

The prime adeptus of all adepti, actually; and former archon of Liyue but he doesn't need to say that.

You sigh, "Now it really does make sense. Ah to think I've been so disrespectful to the adepti, Rex Lapis would've had my head cut off," You chuckle embarrassingly, "Of course, you wouldn't date a mere mortal. I'm sorry for confessing out of the blue, I just thought- yeah."

Rex Lapis wouldn't have your head cut off, though. He looks at you with sympathy, "Please don't say that. You've shown no disrespect at all— if anything, I should be grateful for how normal you've treated me, living amongst the people."

"And as for dating you... It's not that I wouldn't. It's just that- you might not be comfortable with such an old... adeptus."

Your eyes soften as you look at him. Thoughtful and kind, there's a reason why you fell for such a man.

"Do you like me?" You ask softly, looking up at him.

"Well, I- yes." He admits, looking back at you.

"Are you uncomfortable that I'm on a much younger side for you?"

"Of course not, you're of age and I-"

"Then date me," You say determinedly, "I don't mind the age gap. I understand why you hid your identity. A-and if these are your only issues between us, then I want to ask you to give me a chance! Because I genuinely like you, Mr.Zhongli!"

And honestly, how can he not accept your offer when you've laid out the basics of a contract in front of the god of contracts himself? For a mortal, you're quite headstrong. The ends of his lips twitch upward.

"Alright, let this be the beginning of our contract."

There's still much you don't know about the funeral consultant, but he'll be ready to take things step by step with you.

road trip headcanons [ genshin guys ]

prompt: road trip hcs for the genshin guys characters: albedo, childe, dainsleif, diluc, kaeya, scaramouche, xiao, zhongli w/ gn!reader word count: 2.3k words warnings: none? fluff, modern!au

a/n: for all the guys,,, besides the unreleased ones/ones we haven't met in quests HAHA

albedo

when asked to create a road trip playlist, albedo is the type to queue up scientific podcasts. he says they're relaxing and that being idle in the car is a great time to learn.

if he's not the one driving, he 100% has a blanket and is cozy in the passenger's seat. if there's no conversation, he might as well use the time to sleep, right?

but, if you ask albedo about his current research or begin to tell him about your day, he'll be wide awake and either listening or blabbing away. unlike how he reacts to most people, conversations with you never bore him.

if you do nag him into playing music instead, he'll play classical music. it's mentally stimulating, okay?

he'll have fun telling you species of trees that the two of you pass.

is an excellent driver. he's smart and driving is a piece of cake for him. probably the best driver of all of the guys listed here and he's very quiet with his frustrations as well.

if you let albedo fall asleep, he'll fill the car with soft snores before abruptly shaking his head as he sits up, awake.

if conversation lulls and he's not driving yet can't sleep, he'll pull out his sketchbook and (not-so-secretively) draw pictures of you.

... will likely ask to stop for ice cream. he has a sweet tooth... use it as a chance to steal a kiss with the excuse that he has ice cream on the corner of his mouth!

will plan what hotels you stop at ahead of time because albedo knows you'll get tired and he wants to ensure that you're well-rested, as compared to having to sleep in the car for part of the time.

childe

is a pretty decent driver but takes aggressive drivers as competition, so don't let this man drive in the city.

childe will stop for fast food if you'd like, but also enjoys preparing snacks for the two of you to take. look, he cut you a little bag of strawberries in the shape of hearts! he's kind of a dork about this so hype him up, he'll get flustered but in a good way.

has a playlist of 00's bops that he knows every single word to. WILL make you duet promiscuous with him.

he's pretty noisy, but burns out quickly in energy. after an hour or two of singing, he'll likely suddenly get kind of mellow and go quiet for a few minutes hehe.

will find anything and everything to talk about. he doesn't want you to get bored!

tries to drive the car more than you because he doesn't want you to feel obligated to drive ;;; he just wants you to relax!

will point out weird license plates or bumper stickers he sees on other cars.

whenever you two stop to use the bathroom, he probably ends up kissing you for several minutes in the parking lot lol

inadvertently messes up his sleep schedule by napping too much

definitely dreams of you in his sleep and sleep talks through it. the two of you can have a conversation while he naps in the car, but he won't remember any of it nor will his contributions even be coherent.

dainsleif

naturally, he's just kind of a... quiet presence. you'll have to handle the aux cord or start conversation, otherwise dain will sit there brooding in his own thoughts.

probably hasn't been on a road trip with anyone before, but finds himself really appreciating your company as he drives!

is a good driver but absolutely gets confused by toll roads. forgets his wallet in his luggage, which is packed securely in the trunk, so he's fumbling for spare change whenever the two of you pass one.

probably doesn't like fast food but will begrudgingly eat french fries from mcdonalds if you stop. (get him a happy meal... you can watch him fumble with the toy for a few minutes)

doesn't like to sleep if you're driving. he knows you're capable, he just has a natural tendency to worry that something will happen if you're not awake.

dainsleif will tell you stories of his past if you ask him, but only if you've been on the road for a few hours. there's something about the soft intimacy of being in the car with you for that long that makes him want to share parts of himself with you, but only if you wish to hear them.

if you two pass a truly scenic area, he'll stop to take your picture. he's sentimental, okay? it'll take a bit of coaxing to get him to take a selfie with you, though.

refuses to go above the speed limit. dain says they're there for a reason. however, if you call him a bootlicker for this, he refuses to go no less than 5 over the speed limit from then on.

doesn't recline his chair whatsoever. his legs and torso are perpendicular.

... will want to hold your hand as he's driving. sure, two hands is safer, but he likes the feel of your hand in his!

diluc

offers to just buy the two of you first class plane tickets to wherever you wish to go, even if it's only an hour or two drive away.

doesn't really get the appeal of a road trip at first, yet agrees to go anyways... he can't resist when you look at him with such pleading eyes.

after you explain the appeal to him, diluc nods as if he understands, then offers to pay for a driver so the two of you can sit in the backseat together. he clearly does not understand.

making diluc eat mcdonalds for the first time on a road trip. is baffled by the concept of a bts meal. eats it anyways. is slightly mad you got a happy meal and he didn't because he's jealous of the toy.

probably packs a whole charcuterie board as a snack or whatever lmfao but FRESH GRAPES,,, fresh grapes galore,,,

whips out a clear cup full of grape juice and starts chugging it while driving until you lecture him that a cop will probably think its wine and pull the two of you over.

if you're driving, diluc unabashedly just stares at you when he thinks you're not paying attention. he finds you pretty, okay?

doesn't really know the songs you play on the aux too well, yet hums along to them under his breath if he can pick up on the melody.

doesn't like small talk, but it's not small talk if it's you! diluc... might not be the best conversationalist for the hours you're in the car together, but he'll try, just for you!

will book a really nice hotel for the two of you then immediately just tugs you into bed with him. just because the two of you spent the whole day in the car together doesn't mean he's had enough of you yet -- it's not like he could just reach over and give you a hug in the middle of driving!

kaeya

the best music of all of the guys. easily the most trustworthy with the aux. probably has a pretty decent singing voice, yet won't sing louder than a soft melody.

likes to stop for fast food on the road, but also really tries to find local restaurants in the area for the two of you to eat at. he figures giggling with you in a booth is a nice break from the eyesore of the same repetitive scenes while driving.

whines if you don't hold his hand, whether it be you driving or him driving. you can't sit there looking that cute and not hold his hand.

will snore if he falls asleep so you're probably gonna have to wake him up whenever he dozes off if you want to stay sane.

definitely speeds but then nearly breaks whenever he sees a possible cop car. if you weren't awake before, you certainly are now whenever he abruptly changes the speed.

is really experienced with city driving, so if it makes you anxious, he's your best bet.

will randomly comment on how cute you look while driving and will also curse out anyone on the road who makes you angry while you drive. he's supportive! plus he finds it fun

likes to drive into the night. its especially nice for him if you're in an area with low light pollution. he finds the night sky fascinating and, much to your surprise, knows little constellations and will point them out to you.

likes to play a game when the two of you are on the road. he describes a person that the both of you know in abstract terms and your job is to guess them. whenever kaeya starts off with a negative description, you know he's talking about diluc.

he's often busy with work and kaeya finds that love is stored in the little things, so being able to spend this time with you, even if it's the mundane task of driving, means the world to him.

scaramouche

surprisingly doesn't get road rage. instead, he gets passenger road rage, in which he gets really angry if people seem like they're trying to fuck with you while you're driving.

very knowledgeable about little hole-in-the-wall places to stop on your drive... no, he didn't make an itinerary, stop looking at his phone!

doesn't really like to stop for fast food either. would prefer to stop at a sit-down restaurant, mainly so you can relax.

it's hard for you to irritate him, but you realize you can push his buttons by asking 'are we there yet?'. scaramouche will passive aggressively gesture to the gps and estimated arrival time.

if you ask him again immediately after he does that, he'll start muttering prayers in snezhnayan that you can't understand. if you didn't know him better, you'd be petrified.

this is your ONE CHANCE to smother him in compliments. he has nowhere to run away. instead, he has to sit there while you tell him how lovely and cute he is, all while slowly turning into a tomato in the process.

probably only wears pajamas during the road trip. why look fancy when you could feel comfy?

subtly offering snacks and drinks all the time to you. he just wants to make sure you're well taken care of, even if he can't necessarily communicate it in the nicest way.

you can tell he's about to fall asleep when he starts getting all sappy to you. you're his soft spot and scaramouche just... really wants you to know how much he appreciates you. no, he's not crying. harbingers don't cry. look away. your eyes are deceiving you, just like the stars.

xiao

bounces his legs constantly in the car. he doesn't ride them very often and is unused to the mechanical movements, so bouncing his leg soothes him.

also gets a bit antsy after a while, so he's nearly clawing at the walls by the time the two of you stop to take a break and walk around.

clenches the steering wheel a bit too hard... but you don't comment on it. he looks tense enough while driving.

surprisingly has pretty decent music. it's likely just a generic lo-fi playlist he found on spotify, but its a far cry from what you expected him to actually play.

like diluc, xiao will stare at you while he's driving. he's an admirer, and he finds the way your brow subtly furrows as you see something in the distance to be utterly mesmerizing.

call him out for it and he gets all embarrassed, but will also grumble about how he loves you under his breath.

he's kind of clumsy with a kamera whenever the two of you stop, but he likes to take pictures of everything!

sometimes, when the two of you are sightseeing wherever you decide to stop, you'll suddenly notice that xiao is no longer by your side. look behind you and you'll find xiao stopping to pet and talk to any dog that the two of you pass.

likes to buy you little trinkets from gift shops if they remind him of you. oh, the little sculpture is the same color of your eyes? oh, it's an object that has your birthstone in it? oh, it's a cute stuffed plush of your favorite animal? xiao's secretly buying it while your distracted and giving it to you in the car.

zhongli

music isn't very necessary when you have thousands of years of information stored in one being right next to you!

likes to use the road trip as driving practice... he's still acclimating to living with humanity.

uses a gps just in case roads have changed, but is very familiar with the terrain and tells you stories about different areas you pass through.

isn't too familiar with the human side of things, so it's up to you to figure out where the two of you will stop for lunch and dinner. just... no seafood for him, please.

likes to hold your hand while he's driving and rub his thumb back and forth of your knuckles. he finds it comforting.

you had to explain to him what a road trip consisted of before the two of you set out (as, y'know, he used to be a god and is used to teleporting places) and zhongli is utterly enthralled by the concept.

part of humanity that zhongli is still trying to grasp is how it's okay if results aren't immediate. sometimes the fun is found in the journey, not the destination, and zhongli truly understands that during his road trip with you.

while he has eons of information of his own life to share, zhongli also enjoys sitting back and discussing your own life stories. sure, they might not be as grand as tales of the archon war, but they're you, so zhongli adores them nonetheless.

Im not sure if this was asked before but how would the yans react if after they yelled at darling and she just starts crying? Im one of those people who cry when Im yelled at, I think it's because I'm scared they'll get physical with me and like smack me or something

Oooh I like this thought because like, some of them would have a lot of trouble with it. I mean some don't yell too much in the first place, and some are more prone to it, but if those that are it varies. And to be fair... In their case they probably WILL get physical with you lol, so it's a valid fear.

Diluc has anger problems. He snaps easily and raises his voice pretty loud. He would struggle because he's still mad and he can't get over it, but his brain is sounding alarm bells when you cry. He ends up basically just making this angry groan of frustration, turns around and punches a wall probably. Unfortunately this only makes darling flinch even more. But even then unfortunately he gets *more* mad when you try to get away from him. Why are you backing away? Just -- just come -- come here. And he ends up saying that last word with more anger than he intended, darling cowers, and the cycle starts again. Eventually has to blow off steam somehow (likely on darling in some way).

Zhongli handles it better. He can calm himself down easily, take on a soft tone, that deep rumbly but still quiet voice to comfort you and pull you close, sighs and apologizes for getting so mad. Not that he's gonna forget about why he was mad, but he calms down enough to tell you in a firm voice. But overall he's probably the best/weakest to crying.

Xiao doesn't really yell, he gets more of a narrowed-eyes glare and gets harsh with his tone and speech, it's more like a growling snarl than a yell, but still enough to shake you. He handles it very badly. Basically it just makes him more mad. Why are you crying?? He's not even being mean! And you deserve him being mad at you! Now you're trying to get out of it, aren't you? Manipulate him? Due to his lack of understanding and general pessimism, he tends to automatically assume everything you do is some sneaky tactic he doesn't get like that. He ends up calming down later, but first just gets more mad and in your face, making you promise or agree to whatever the original issue was and won't stop snarling at you until you do.

Childe actually doesn't yell easy, he gets mad sometimes but usually keeps it under control. If he's that mad, you did something really bad, or repeatedly. Nonetheless, darling crying is actually a weakness of his and can make him stop in his tracks. He uses it as part of his perpetual push and pull of psychological manipulation -- he calms down, pulls you close and apologizes... But reminds you that you're the one that drove him to this. He hates getting mad at you, you know? But you just have to push him and push him. See, you like being held like this, right? Aren't things better when you're good for him...?

Surprisingly, crying is also a weakness for Albedo. However, not in the sense that it makes him calm down and take pity on you, but instead, bechase it's a turn on. Sigh. He also doesn't really yell, just like Xiao, but he's more likely to startle you with heavy slamming motions/sounds. His way of expressing anger is in actions -- when he gets super mad, he's actually very quiet and doesn't say much, but he handles everything he touches roughly, nearly slamming doors, slamming down things he's holding, visibly trembling with anger, and that's enough to make poor darling tearful with the sound, but if you really push him you can get a short, sudden shut the fuck up or the like in one of the few times you've ever heard him raise his voice. He goes back to speaking normally as soon as he's had the one outburst though. He's too mesmerized by the tears to do much, still mad, but now mad AND horny. Probably just takes the remaining anger out on you in one of his own many sadistic options, savoring the tears more than anything. Poor darling.

It would actually be kind of funny to see the dynamic go down between a highly sensitive darling and Scaramouche for obvious reasons... At first he just sighs all exasperated, it irritates him. Like, are you seriously crying that easily? God that's pathetic. So sensitive... Unfortunately, he's eventually forced to find a way to deal with it, because it's a hassle and he can't afford to be making you cry all the time when he needs to have communication. Ultimately ends up learning how to bite his tongue just a little bit, but crying in general just makes him roll his eyes and grab you to make sure you look him in the eye while he tells you off.

Kaeya's probably the worst because his normal anger isn't really yelling, but he can reach that point. His normal anger is that wide forced smile, speaking through clenched teeth, a warning sort of anger. He can keep his cool pretty well, and once you apologize as you should, he'll go back to normal. So if you've driven him to a point where he's yelling at you, that means you've already driven him to the point of a mental "snap" episode, and it's not pretty. It makes him mad. He's definitely one to pull the "I'll give you something to cry about" line. Basically he just gets worse, yelling louder, grabbing you by the arm and jaw so you can't even back away until he gets out the anger and cools down on his own. Basically, the crying has no effect other than just irritating him more. Afterwards, though, he'll still pull the same manipulative gaslighting as Childe, telling you how he doesn't like it when you make him like that, he hates being like that to you, but you're the one that forced him into it.

masterlist characters: albedo, childe, xiao, zhongli genre: fluff summary: in which their s/o's aren't as forward about their emotions, but still manage to have their little tells that express their love. notes: i hope this meets the request! i had a lot of fun writing this! i just want the boys to be happy :)

albedo -

i like to think albedo is secretly clingy but doesn't allow himself to show it to anyone.

naturally, it's just because he's always holed up with his work.

when he consciously does it... it's because he's nervous.

remember the end of his quest when he's talking to himself at dragonspine?

that's why he's nervous.

anyway!!

he's not too bothered by the fact that you're more reserved.

he has a lot of work so he can't really dwell on the idea for too long.

just you being there when he's working is good enough for him :D

as we all know, this boy is very into experimentation and learning.

so trying to decipher your minuscule facial changes is actually really interesting to him!

he has a bunch of notes just on the little details he can find about you.

and since he's so observant, it doesn't take him long to realize that there are certain signs that only appear around him.

he'll notice them when he's painting you.

whenever he's waiting for results, he'll use the time to draw you <3

because he's done this, he practically has you memorized.

so imagine his surprise when he sees your expression change whenever he leaves your sight.

it takes him a while to actually be able to see this, but i'm sure it's because of timaeus and sucrose.

after all, they're around you a lot whenever albedo is busy.

they probably take a picture to show him something they did while he was gone and that's when he notices.

he doesn't even have to look at a different picture of you.

he can just tell you look different.

the little crinkle next to your eyes was gone.

your lips were more pursed than usual.

you now had a crease in between your brows you didn't have before.

the next time he sees you, he'll hold up the picture next to your face to confirm they're different.

he wants to ask why there's a "clear" difference in your appearance but he already knows why.

he'll ask you just to be sure, though--

your cheeks get a tiny tiny bit darker when you answer wholeheartedly.

it does make him chuckle when he hears that you're so smitten for him in your monotonous voice.

the picture sucrose and timaeus took isn't his favorite of you, so he ends up taking a new one when you two are both exploring dragonspine.

it's a reminder of how much you really love him <3

childe -

out of the four boys here, he's definitely (in my opinion) the most affectionate.

like, this boy will take whatever he can get to just hold you for a second.

especially if you're also from snezhnaya but came all the way to liyue to keep him company.

he's very family-oriented as we've seen, so he treasures these relationships.

now, with an unaffectionate s/o?

honestly, i don't think he'd be too upset about it.

like i said, he really treasures these familial relationships.

because of this, it's his top priority to make sure you feel comfortable in the relationship.

he won't necessarily keep his distance, but he won't be too clingy either.

he'll stand right beside you, enough to where you can almost feel his skin touching yours.

as for your expressionlessness...

it'll take him a bit to really understand how you're feeling.

it's a lot of communication because he doesn't want to mess anything up.

near the beginning of the relationship, he'd ask how you're feeling and if there's anything bothering you.

but once he finally notices the subtle differences in your face, such as a slight eyebrow raise or a tilt of the head, he'll be able to read you easier.

nothing too complex, but just enough for him to tell your emotions.

there is one subtle change that he always looks for, however.

he's realized, with the help of zhongli of course, that there is a specific characteristic that only happens when he's in your line of sight.

your lips are normally pressed in a fine line.

however, around him, the corners lift up ever-so-slightly.

the only reason he's able to see it is that he'll catch himself staring at your lips because he wants a kiss :)

once he sees that, he starts noticing your little quirks whenever you're around him.

you'll lean closer to him as you're walking through liyue harbor.

your eyes start to soften as he talks on and on about his day (and complains about scaramouche--).

he loves the idea that all of these little details about you only happen around him,

it makes him feel... important.

and loved.

even if he holds back from touching you, he'll settle for seeing your cold exterior melt around him.

xiao -

he's not too well versed in affection...

i mean, he's the vigilant yaksha that is known for being stoic just like you are.

you two are basically carbon copies of each other.

no affection and no clear expressions of love.

people (who know both you and xiao) often forget that you two are actually together.

like, they just think you two sit in silence when you're both tired of dealing with people.

they... aren't necessarily wrong.

the two of you are often found sitting at the balcony looking over liyue.

sometimes you bring him almond tofu to share :)

it's very rare for the two of you to actively show your love for each other, mainly because you both know your feelings.

although... xiao does have those moments.

it's not like he's completely oblivious to the whispers about you two.

and on the days where his karma acts up, he gets insecure.

he's... really scared that one day you'll leave just like the others.

it doesn't matter if you're a mortal or an adeptus, he's scared that one day he'll wake up and you'll be gone.

and if that ever comes, he's scared you'll pass on either doubting your feelings or his.

it doesn't help when he notices the difference in your attitude and appearance when he's around.

his first instinct is that he's doing something bad.

either you're angry or upset at his mere existence...

verr goldet's the one who has to explain why you seem different.

she's quite observant on her own, especially because you're the first person that xiao actively enjoys being around.

she'll be the one to tell him that it isn't because you're mad at him.

you have minuscule changes because that's how xiao makes you feel.

you're so soft around him and she can tell just from the small interactions she's seen of you.

for example, when you're talking to the chef downstairs, you have the same expression that xiao has when he's talking to people.

you're annoyed but you know how to handle it.

but when you're around xiao, it's like everything that bothers you disappears.

it's like you're in your own domain whenever he's around.

nothing else matters except for him.

and even if she's relying on small observations and pure intuition, she can tell that the changes are good.

your eyes that seem to look anywhere besides the person you are talking to are completely different from the ones that seem to only focus on xiao.

your normally stiff body relaxes every time you summon xiao at the balcony.

the tiny smile that graces your lips when you disappear to the top of the inn for hours on end.

verr goldet's explanation calms his heart.

his worries seem to disappear and the next time he sees you...

this is the one thing his karma can't take away. he'll be sure of it.

zhongli -

zhongli is also another person who isn't well versed in relationships.

although he isn't as inexperienced as xiao, it'll take some time for him to figure it out.

he's not someone who craves affection like it's the only thing keeping him alive.

he definitely would appreciate it but he completely understands that it isn't something you tend to give.

so instead, he'll show his love in the smaller things.

such as telling you stories, sharing tea, going out on walks, etc.

he's another person who is very observant, especially in people close to him.

his storytelling friends often ask him about your relationship with one another.

they try to bring it to his attention that you may not be as interested as he thinks you are.

of course, he'll simply laugh them off and tell them that they should listen to the person who knows you best.

he'll turn those questions into a big story and explain how they're mistaken about you.

he's never actively told anyone this, save for hu tao who tries to bug him into telling her, but he'll tell them about all of the tiny details that tell him your feelings.

when you're feeling upset, you puff out your cheeks a small bit.

when you're angry, your glare hardens at whatever is making you mad.

when you're happy, your lips part slightly.

when you're in love... well, that's a detail he'll keep for himself.

he's quick to say goodbye to his peers, practically rushing back to your shared home.

he's greeted by you as soon as he opens the door.

your stoic expressions... would be exactly the same to anyone else.

but to him, it's like you've lit up like a small puppy seeing their human parents come home after years.

you don't run up to him, but you turn to look at him and away from the book on the table.

he'll greet you with a quiet nod, pulling out the chair and sitting next to you.

he'll take the book from you, taking in your appearance for a moment.

your shoulders relax by a hair and you move your chair an inch closer to his.

you don't lean your head on his shoulder but you lean towards him as if you were about to.

it's these moments that make everything worth it to zhongli.

here, in your home and in your life, he's simply zhongli.

the man you fell in love with and allowed your reserved self to open up to.

and he would trade anything just to have these moments with you.

✧ Zhongli

• It takes some tries to realize your little quirk. He’s a little bit dense but he ultimately notices it in a few days in your relationship. He doesn’t really point it out, he just keeps it in his memory for the time being. It wasn’t until that someone else had mistook your quirk as something that you’ve asked for and he had to step in and clench the perpetrator’s jaw in his hand.

• He earnestly listens on your explanation onto why you do this. The tables have suddenly turned when he realizes that he listens to you while you discuss on your habit. It's an adorable sight to behold. And the fact that he listens like he's listening to the wonders of the world makes you flush that you were able to enrapture the ex-archon with a silly little habit.

Would they copy the habit?

• Probably not. He's not really the one to copy whatever small habit his partner has compared to other couples. Zhongli would be the type to stare at you when you point with your lips as his own quirks into a soft little smile. Sometimes, he would run his fingers across your pouted lips as he revels in your flushed expression. His apologies were always insincere.

• But, that doesn't mean he won't humor you. All you had to do was ask, and he'll pout your lips at you. His lips are slightly thin but well-taken care of (thank Guizhong for that. If it wasn't for her, Zhongli and the rest of his friends would've been having dry-ass chapped lips). You can't help but slot your lips against his as you giggle on how both absolutely ridiculous and how cute he was when he does that. Of course, he's not one to stop his love from initiating kisses.

✧ Childe

• The first time that you did it, he would point it out with a little smirk in his face. He says that you looked ridiculously cute doing it and he does the same thing in irony. Yes, he's the type of sibling who does the same mistake when his younger sibling did it (like that time where he hears his older sibling mispronounce a word and, being the bastard middle sibling, he kept repeating it), and don't put it past him that he won't do the same thing with your habit.

• Still, it's an endearing little quirk of yours that Child keeps into his memory. It's a funny one, sure, but it's something that totally makes up you and because he's a totally in love with you that he often misses the way you pout your lips. It's not the same if he or anyone else does it. You do it so naturally because it's naturally ingrained in your system that he misses kissing your lips every time he's away from you.

Would they copy the habit?

• As stated above, he is not above copying your habit just to spite you. But when it comes down to it, he won't. He has a reputation to upkeep as a Harbinger and he wouldn't let anything spoil that image... Even if he's not so discreet in keeping you away from his work.

• Actually, it's not even him that you're worried about. You're worried about his younger siblings copying your habit during that one time you were visiting his family. Soon, every little one starting pointing with their lips. Congrats, you started a cult and Childe is slapping your back while he's wheezing.

✧ Xiao

• "What in Celestia are you doing?"

• Immediately spots it the moment you do it and springs that question up. No filter at all. He does this as bluntly as possible that your brain had to stop processing what just happened before you realized he was talking about your habit.

• Remains indifferent from your habit. Even if you explain it to him, he would chalk it up to not understanding mortals. He doesn't even find it adorable, but he does make a mental note of it. Each time that you point with your lips instead, he stares at them for more than a little, before going to get the item that you pointed at. All the while trying to hide the pink in his ears.

Would they copy the habit?

• Absolutely not.

• No. No amount of almond tofu is going to change his mind.

✧ Scaramouche

• "What in Celestia are you doing?" (2)

• Dense little bastard doesn't even realize you had that habit until someone else points it out. He asked you where was the new catalysts that he ordered and when you pointed the crate using your lips, he didn't understood. Not until Childe strolled by and pointed Scaramouche at the crate while saying that it was a habit of yours.

• Angry little bard hated that Childe knew what your habit was before him. The petty bastard would've wanted you yourself to explain your habit of pointing with your lips so that he can file it away in his mind to tease bully you about. It's gotten so far that you're annoyed by doing your habit that you regularly point with your fingers now. Scaramouche nearly begged to bring back you pointing with your lips so he could stare at them again.

Would they copy the habit?

• Absolutely not. He would point it out like he's aggravating you, so there's that. Assert that no one has the right to make fun of your habit by forcing your pouting lips upon his. Force the tiny man into a chokehold as you try to kiss him. He's too embarrassed to summon his Vision and retaliate. It's not a threat to Scaramouche, it's a threat to anyone who dares try to make fun of you.

One thing that I hate about villain au is when reader forgives the characters and they just lock her in a teapot. They said that its for protection as if they totally didn't almost kill reader. Even with all my braincells combined, I can't understand this sh-

I don't particularly dislike the concept, but I just don't think it'll work. After forgiving the acolytes, I'd imagine them to stray away from you. They'll be reluctant to talk/communicate/touch because of the immense guilt, but that doesn't mean they won't guard you.

Venti might join you on trips around Mondstadt, it'd be a bit awkward, but he'll cheer you up.

Baal... she feels lost. You're right there in front of her, but she isn't sure what to do. She's like a statue, unwilling to move to avoid making the wrong move.

Zhongli is more focused on protecting you, he needs to prove that you can trust him again, right? He'll start right now.

Me and one of my besties both play, but they're a small dolphin while I'm 2 welkins out of being f2p. We have a wish ritual where we visit one of our worlds right after maintenance and find a good spot and do some small things, and usually they end up pulling the character they want that moment while I always just build pity and hopefully get the character later during the banner or not at all. Xiao and Zhongli however where the 2 characters I wanted more than anything else and was all out saving for for literal months, now I have enough saved to reach hard pity once and still have wishes left. Because 2.4 I had to make a choice and picked Zhongli, meaning I was not gonna even try for Xiao even though I love him, I was still joining the ritual for moral support though. So we went to my friend's world's Wanshu inn, made almond tofu, sacrificed Childe, and started wishing. I did one 10 pull because I was at like 20 pity and decided to try my luck at Yunjin. GOLD. For me. Whoops. Managed to get one of my 2 favourites that I had given up on at low pity on the 50/50 and I still have enough wishes over for Zhongli to reach hard pity and have spares!! Also Yunjin showed up in the same pull hello girl! Luckiest pull of my genshin career!! But. My friend... didn't get him. They've prepped for him, while I am completely unprepared. They spent money on crystals, I didn't. I got him in 1 10pull, they didn't in 13 10pulls. It's the first time I got an event character right after banner drop. It's also the first time my friend didn't. And they resent me for it. I can't be happy about my incredible luck after having given up even though I love Xiao so so much, all because they've been a stormcloud about not getting him (yet, because they're at 72 pity and a garantuee rn so he will come home). I've been there many times so I do understand it sucks not getting the one you want, but I've always been happy for them getting who we wanted even if it would take me weeks to get there if I even got there at all, but now roles are reversed and I feel like I can't mention how happy I am because I'm supposed to be sad for them. It sucks. I hope they get Xiao soon so things can go back to normal. Sorry for rambling here I just needed to get that off my chest 😅

but i would like to remind you that it seems like your friend has always been the one to get their characters first! so i would say that, even if you do feel bad about it, they're only being put in the situation that you've been in for the past however many times you've pulled together.

you're right that the roles have been reversed, but that doesn't mean you can't be happy. it seems like your friend needs to do a little bit of self-reflection after the heat of the moment has passed and realize that things aren't all about them.

i also don't want to assume anything but since you said they're a small dolphin, i do assume that they're willing to spend the money to get xiao? if so, then it's only a matter of time! they've already done 130 wishes, so they're only 50 away from hard pity anyway. if not, there is projected to be a large amount of primos in the quests, events, and exploration for the first half of the banner, so they'll get a couple of wishes just from that.

that being said, i do get where your friend is coming from :( for my first five star ever, i told karfield and keith that if i lost pity and didn't get childe but either of them did get him, please do NOT let me know ever because i would have murdered someone LOL.

that does not, however, make it right; if i really didn't get him, i would have been mad and probably not spoken with them for a couple of days, but you know what? i would have gotten over it, and it would have only taken a couple of days. we've emphasized this many times, but genshin is just a game. banners will be rerun, characters and weapons will come back, there's no need to take it so seriously.

and if you are taking it this seriously, that might be an indication of a deeper issue :( but ofc we're not clinical psychologists or anything LOL if there is a deeper issue, we can't tell you anything except to please try to figure out what's going on, or to seek professional help.

that took a deep turn! congrats of getting xiao, anon!!! and don't let your friend bother you too much about it >:( you deserve to be happy!!

so i've just finished reading every chapter of the 'in my dreams' and i wanna comment how you did such good job with writing it! esp when its the flashblack / dream sequences also mainly i'm a history nerd and seeing stuff based on historical places makes me happy :D

and i also liked how you touched the emotional aspect of it. Seeing how the characters react to the anguish and pain the reader is experiencing is very comforting and it totally was not because i was projecting ahaha nope

but seriously, you did a great job. i hope you're feeling better now since you mentioned in a previous post that you were feeling a bit burnt out. if you ever reached that point, please do not hesitate to rest and take a break from writing! pushing yourself to do something you don't want to do will really take the fun out of it,,, plus i'm sure everyone here will be patiently waiting for you :D

anws i have another idea that popped itself in my head since i've watched too many horror films this week ;; i can't stomach gore horror like the saw movies or final destination, but i can however handle paranormal horror! it still freaks me out though

okay so, reader is an outcast from their village. they had no family, relatives, or even friends! it wasn't because they had done something inhumane, or horrific. heck, they aren't even a bad person! but, there is something deeply unsettling about them.

you see, whenever people look at them, they get the sense of uneasiness, something that they can't figure out and the longer they look, the more they become fearful and paranoid of their surroundings. they want to look away, but an unseen force practically forces them in a trance, which becomes more unbearable with each passing second.

reader is mainly aware of the dilemma they bring to everyone, so it causes them to become a hermit, practically living in isolation at the edge of the forest. at least in that way, no one has to be affected by their curse, right? right?

living in isolation was harder than they thought and they were going insane. at least back in the village, they had pets that kept them company but now? the complete silence was unbearable.

so, whether they cause a commotion or not, reader decides to travel to different cities in Teyvat, enjoying the different cultures and sceneries as one could. they do end up causing trouble from the local governments who thought they were a threat to the point that they were thrown to jail a few times, but other than that it ends up... fine? It was a miracle no archon tried to kill them!

On their journey to Liyue, reader was a bit lost when they end up bumping into someone. They profusely apologized, saying that they were being careless and it was rude of them. However, the gentleman simply acknowledges his mistake, and goes on to introduce himself when..

reader feels a chill crawl up their spine once they had eye contact. for a moment, it felt like the earth was pulling them down, slowly swallowing them whole and it was the most terrifying thing they had ever felt.

it was over in a blink of an eye and reader took a few steps back, unnerved by the entire situation.

"Do I know you?

"I'm no one of importance. I'm simply a consultant for the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor. And who might you be?"

"No one of importance too, I suppose."

They exchanged directions and quickly parted ways, yet reader cannot shake the feeling that they're being watched. By whom? No one can say for certain. But, let's hope Liyue's adepti and its ex-archon won't do anything rash. For the meantime, reader enjoys their life as a traveler.

I glad you enjoyed reading “In My Dreams”. I’m always happy to hear from a fellow history nerd, it’s very gratifying to hear that you enjoyed the dreams and flashbacks especially, I found those were sort of the hardest scenes since I usually got way too sucked into the history part of it.

And projecting or not, that the emotional beats were satisfying is also something I’m glad to hear, especially since I was so focused on lore and trying to mess with that. I was afraid sometimes I left more personal feelings and connections in the lurch. Also if it was a comfort at all then I’m very glad to hear it. Sometimes fiction can be the best place to find a sort of understanding ear, and I’ve definitely read fics that I feel can accurately mirror certain feelings and emotions.

Thank you for caring about my wellbeing. Thankfully I was only burning out a little bit, I think I just set a schedule that was a little too ambitious, or rather ambitious considering I always end up writing late into the night instead of during the day like an intelligent person might. Still, thank you for worrying. I promise if it ever gets very bad I will take a break, and I’m glad to hear that you would be willing to wait for me to come back.

And I also don’t particularly like horror films in the slasher genre! I find they tend to have worse writing, but it could just be that I find jumpscares really irritating. I mostly stick to anime horror and then thrillers like Silence of the Lambs, which I really think is more thriller than horror. I do agree though I think whether film or books psychological horror and paranormal horror is usually more enjoyable to consume.

And oh I think that’s a very interesting premise! And don’t worry it’s not long at all. It could go so many different directions. Is the reader cursed with it or is it inherited? If it’s a curse then could it be a spirit or being that Zhongli has dealt with before? If not did Zhongli make some sort of contact with the reader’s ancestors? It would also be interesting to see how Zhongli might react later on. He tends to be passive enough unless there is a genuine threat to Liyue, and it would be interesting to explore what he bases the idea of something being threatening on, whether he waits for something to happen or makes an assumption, and how that might change as he interacts with the reader.

One thing the premise also touches on is the strength of horror, that being ambiguity. Horror that works best leaves a lot to the imagination. Thus the idea of the reader being watched but us never getting an answer to what happens to them is - at least to me - very compelling. I really think that letting the mind run wild is sometimes much better than spelling everything out for them. Explain something too much and it’s no longer scary. Something that’s governed by specific rules is never as terrifying as something that just exists or happens or appears without explaination.

He's one that might be likely to misunderstand his feelings at first, think that he sees himself as a mentor or maybe even an authority figure, someone to guide you and teach you and serve as a dependable partner to your travels. As time goes on, and he begins to recognize how utterly flustered he gets around you, he's forced to acknowledge the actual feelings he has.

While some yanderes with a slight aloofness or pride to them get worse when in love, such as Childe or Kaeya, his drops completely. You bring out a softer side of him, really, one that's protective and tender and loving, so very loving, wanting to be around you, with you. He's certainly an obsessive, protective type, ultimately allowing his protective nature to get the better of him as he demands to know everything you've done, account for your location at every moment, constantly keep track of your habits, inquire about very personal details of your life. If he realizes you're bothered by it, he might draw back a bit, but he's convinced that that's just your perception, that it's necessary, truly, and not at all unusual.

Pet names. Particularly fond of love, darling, and angel. Sweet things that represent what you mean to him -- something precious, something to represent his adoration and idolization.

The primary form of delusion comes from a perception of you. He's obsessive, and idolizes you to an extent. He perceives you as pure, innocent, angelic. The thing is, this applies regardless of whether or not you actually are. If you are, it will solidify the idea, but even if you're not, he will find a way to see you so, anyway. No matter how wise you are, no, you're naive. No matter how capable you are, no, you're weak and fragile. No matter how experienced you may be, no, you're pure. He can always keep this delusion running by bringing into account age and comparison - you'll never be as strong as him, so you might as well be frail and weak. You'll never have lived as long as him, so really, do you think there's that much difference between you and a child, when compared to someone like himself?

How likely are they to kidnap their darling? How quickly will they do so?

Actually highly likely, and pretty quickly. As he observes you, it becomes very clear to him how very fragile you are, how naive you are, you are quite literally too pure, too angelic, to be living in this world with such beings as humans. Fragile, beautiful little things have a place where they belong - protected. Where do we put fragile, beautiful things? We put them behind glass, behind ropes, in pretty cages, in secluded rooms. It's only natural that you, too, need a similar environment.

He's one of the ones that will... Elegantly kidnap you, as odd as it sounds. He's not a brute that would do something horrendous like knocking you out or drugging you, no, he'll find an excuse for you to come to his abode, invite you in, and you'll walk in none the wiser. Only after your in, and the doors close, does he guide you to your new room, calmly explaining that he's come to the realization that you're too fragile to continue your journey, and ought to simply give up on your travels. He knows you'll be upset at first. Like a child being denied, you'll get pouty, moody, you might cry, you might lash out at him. It's predictable. He'll dry your eyes and calm you down, brushing off any harsh words you may have, holding your wrists in his hands when you try to push him away, softly reassuring you that it will all be alright, that you're safe now, and you'll learn to accept this with time.

How difficult is it to escape from them? How do they keep you restrained? How do they deal with attempted escape?

He would want something... elaborate. He's a man with taste for the most beautiful of things, including yourself, and he won't settle for something as simple as a chain or ropes. No, that would be too simple and brutish, and you, one of the finest things in his life, deserve something equally beautiful and delicate.

He's one of the ones that would go to a great deal of preparation for your arrival. He'd have a room prepared just for you, very ornate, beautifully tailored to you -- the walls your favorite color, the bed made of the same material as your old one, and the whole room completely filled with things you're certain you never even told him you liked. Clothes that fit perfectly to your body. It's frightening how perfect it is, because you know he had to go out of his way to acquire the information to achieve such perfection, but you have no idea how.

Everything about it elegant and detailed, right down to the series of ornate locks on the door. They're some of the sturdiest available, made with essentially unbreakable metal alloys and the most intricate lock systems to date. The windows don't open, and he'd certainly find some way to ensure escape through them isn't an option -- perhaps metal bars, perhaps an unbreakable glass substitute, perhaps merely locating your new home right on the edge of one of Liyue's most beautiful mountains, so that if you were to go out the window you'd plummet to the earth below. He's a bit delusional, but he's not stupid, and he will think through every possibility. Every little detail he needs to keep you safe and confined.

He's certain that, perfect as it is, this room is all you will ever need to be happy. Should you desire anything else, he can bring it to you. You'll never have to leave.

So it goes without saying that it would be exceptionally difficult to escape him. You'd have to find a way through the locks, for which your best bet would be to get some hair pins or tiny writing utensils. Even if you managed it, though, which would frankly be a very difficult feat, you'll have to deal with staying free. Zhongli has ties to the people of Liyue as a whole, and needless to say, he has eyes everywhere. You can't risk appearing in the harbor area, there will be far too many people who would immediately report you, and you'd just be walking right to him anyhow. The surrounding areas also have ties to him, so you'd want to try and reach Mondstadt, as far as it is, which is a difficult travel by foot all alone. You won't get far. He's faster, he's wiser, and he will find you long before you could ever hope to make it there.

However, he's not quite as angry as some yanderes would be about it. He doesn't take your escape personally, no, he blames himself, only calculating his own mistakes as to how it happened. He sees you as something like... a little runaway pet, so naive and dull that you don't know any better than to go wandering off. Or perhaps like a child, just sheepishly curious and wanting to explore, not knowing the dangers of the world. Or, perhaps...

"I haven't been giving you enough attention, have I? That's why you pulled this little act of rebellion... you're hurt by my negligence and wanted to be reassured of my care for you. I'm so sorry... I understand now, love. This was my fault. I've been so caught up with work... I'll delegate some tasks to my workers, and I'll be able to spend more time with you from now on, alright? Don't worry, I'm not angry, I'll take full responsibility. I'll be sure to make it up to you... now, let's go home."

How easy are they to trick, deceive, or manipulate?

Much like Childe or Venti or anyone who has been around as long as he has, you really don't stand a chance. He's an incredibly perceptive man. There's not much to say on the matter, as any attempts will be quickly shut down.

He'd find it amusing, really. Like a child trying to lie, but the evidence is all over their face and hands - it's that obvious to him. It's cute enough that he almost hates having to discipline you for it, but, you have to learn.

How lenient are they? What privileges can you have, and what will you be denied?

He wants his little angel to be safe - and unfortunately, you, being so naive and empty headed, don't always know what's best for you. He knows rules can be hard to follow perfectly, but they're there to keep you safe.

Extremely strict, will want to monitor every moment of your life, every little movement you take, and will insist on watching over you in every task. He'll pick out everything you wear, everything you eat.

Occasionally, if you ask very sweetly, he may take you out for walks in Liyue. Honestly, he'd be lying if he said he didn't enjoy taking you to what he knows are the finest locations, shops with the highest level of craftsmanship, restaurants with a high price tag and reputable food. He enjoys showing off his refined tastes and discerning selective abilities. And honestly? There's a certain... Powerful feeling to knowing you're made aware of the costs when he makes high purchases in front of you... even if you don't realize he's not always actually the one paying for it, or that he forgot mora again but promises the owner to pay later - but he'll make sure you don't know that. You hear the numbers, and your eyebrows raise, your eyes widen. You'd nearly faint if that total was on your responsibility, and he knows that. Which is why he'll simply smile at you, and tell you you're worth every last Mora. He'll buy you nearly anything you may desire. It seems like leniency, but in reality, it's his subtle way of locking control and dependency over you, making you respect him, making you love him.

"Don't worry, love. It's not a lot... Not to me, at least. Even if it were, my angel only deserves the best, no?"

What kind of rules do they have? What kind of punishment would they use?

Oh dear. Again, he's very strict, and wants to monitor everything you do, every little aspect of your life. He decides what you eat, portioning your meals to make sure you're eating enough, he worries about you going hungry during your travels, but luckily you'll never have to worry about that again. If you have a sweet tooth, he'll sigh and worry about your teeth and health, but he'll make sure to account for a little bit of sugar in your day, and will even pick up little treats from some of the most reputable places in Liyue.

He picks out clothes for you with each day. They're not... Normal clothes, per se. Certainly not what you'd normally wear on your travels. And it's not like anyone will see you except him - which is exactly why you'll have clothes he would never want anyone else to see you in. Frilly, lacey things, somehow both highly sexualized but also incredibly infantile, soft pinks, baby blues, gentle off-whites. They accentuate the curves of your body so perfectly, while just barely letting him see the parts of you normally kept hidden.

You'll have a schedule - a bath time, a bedtime, a wake-up time. He's weak to your requests, though, and may let you stay up a little late every now and then, or sleep in just a bit, if you make that soft pouting face and beg. He'll insist on bathing you, dressing you, so that you don't have to - and can't even if you wanted to - lift a finger even to wash yourself or put your clothes on.

He has a set of rules for you, very simple ones he hopes you can easily follow. No trying to leave. No doing anything dangerous. No talking to strangers when you go out. You must hold his hand whenever you're walking together, don't go wandering off.

He'll feel ashamed of the thought for a while, but eventually he'll cave and give into the desire, no, the security precaution, of a nice little collar for you. It's not too embarrassing, no, he went out of his way to find one that was delicate, almost like a necklace, made with fine materials, the engraving only visible up close. If you look closely, though, it clearly bears his name.

Breaking the rules is expected, he anticipates it. You're not the brightest, he might even view it as a mistake. A benefit is that you can easily pass it off as simply forgotten, or an accident. Hence, he's not too harsh - normally. He'll sigh, forgive you, and pat your head, contemplating how to prevent your access in the future.

Perhaps you wriggled out of his hand and ran off while walking? You were just excited, distracted, like a child. He might be able to procure a small leash, one that wouldn't be immediately obvious or embarrassing, to attach to your collar. Perhaps some cuff-like links to latch your arm to his.

You forgot the rule about not handling the kitchen knives and cut yourself? He'll have to get some kind of lock and simply keep them safely away from you. No big deal. Any measures are worth your safety.

If you push the limits, or have a defiant attitude, he might reach the point of punishment. As for not-unwholesome things, this would usually include taking away privileges, such as walks or sweets, but overall, punishment will mostly come in more impure forms.

How do they deal with rivals, or perceived rivals? Will they get rid of them? Will they kill them themselves, or find another way?

Not too much to say here - he has connections. He doesn't need to dirty his own hands. For all his supposed humility, if he truly dislikes someone, they're no more significant than an insect to him. He has no reservations about ridding the world of people who, in his mind, are obviously trying to deceive you, abuse you, corrupt you.

Thankfully, he is very capable of keeping a neutral face, even when he feels laughter building up. It would probably look strange if he were smiling over the newest body to come into his parlor.

How easy is it to make them mad? What does their anger look like?

It's a slow buildup. He views restraint as a virtue, and looks down upon those who lack control over their own tempers. He's a man who strives to meet his own standards of character, and that very much applies to self control and ability to maintain a controlled demeanor, even when he feels a bit of frustration due to you being intentionally and deliberately defiant.

It's his responsibility to be a good role model for you and make sure you understand how to behave. However, in the end, he's very keen on properness and rules. If you have a tendency towards brattiness and pushing your limits, you may drive him to a boiling point.

However, even when expressing his anger, he's remarkably controlled. It's very mature, really. Nonetheless, he will have you shivering and tearful with his voice alone, booming with that depth that reverberates off the walls, that vibrates against your very core. His true anger is one that can strike fear even in the most courageous individuals - he's terrifying when he wants to be, fierce and intimidating, a sort of power just eminates from him.

Nonetheless, it's quick, he calms down very quickly, wipes the tears from your eyes, and sighs.

"I do hate having to be firm with you... but I can't have you thinking you can just act however you want. You understand that, don't you?"

So they see you as above them, beneath them, or equal to them?

Both? It's difficult to describe. You're an angel to him. You're the finest work of art, the most intricate creation, the kind of person whose body and likeness deserves to be preserved in art and tradition, one of those women who should be renowned for beauty even centuries long after you're gone from the earth. It's almost goddess-like. At the same time, there's a beautiful, tragic duality to your essence, he thinks. A fragility and a dependency that leaves you in need, but an inherent status of perfection that makes you deserve the utmost perfect of care. You need to be coddled, cared for, protected, but you deserve it. Like a deity incarnated into a mere fragile human form, a queen that needs support to retain her grace.

Unlike some, he doesn't view his care and protection as some kind of favor that should be repaid with your gratitude, no, really, he is grateful that he is the one who is even deserving of being your caretaker, your provider, your lover.

Even if he is the one who determined that he deserves that role.

How determined are they for you to love them? How hard will they try to make it happen? Or are they content just having you?

He's convinced that he can show you that he is your protector, your lover, that it's fate itself that has locked you together, not just his own will.

And he is, above all else, patient. One of the most patient you could encounter. You think a year is a long time? It's nothing to him. A century for you? More than a lifetime. For him? Nothing. He can and will wait, as long as it takes, and he will never falter in his continual care. He'll remind you frequently, he'll shower you in affection, but if you don't return it? It's not that bad. He has all the time in the world to fix you.

But in all seriousness, he is definitely of the gift-giving love language. He sees beautiful things, and beautiful things make him think of you! It's sweet, he thinks. So many little things he sees throughout his day make him think of you, and he has to have all of them, see your face when he gives them to you. He likes making you happy, for one, but he'd be lying if he said there wasn't a sort of satisfactory pride he gets from the power dynamic of it all. He wants to be the sole source of provision in your life, he wants your dependency.

If we're talking prior to the events of the game, it will be even more extreme. He treats it like it's truly nothing, throwing around massive purchases, seemingly as if he's not thinking about it at all. But he is - rest assured, he's taking it into consideration, at least, that is, how it will affect your attitude and perception of him.

General perverseness: how sexual of a person are they? What’s their drive like? How touchy do they get? Do they have any reservations about sexuality?

On the reserved side. He'd never conduct himself improperly in public, of course. It's out of the question. He cares about proper behavior and public image, and he'd never behave in a vulgar manner.

Even in private, he's certainly one of the ones that struggles with a certain guilt. To some degree, he would feel like you're so innocent and pure that he doesn't want to corrupt you. He goes through stages. First, he'll lie to himself, telling himself that the feelings he has for you are simply protective, platonic, a natural sense of responsibility for you. That becomes more and more difficult to convince himself of, the more excited he becomes around you, the more he finds his eyes drawn to whatever bits of skin are exposed on your body, finding himself drifting off to impure thoughts, trying to push them away.

Second, once he's forced to acknowledge the true nature of these feelings, he'll simply practice restraint, something he's rather good at in this area. He tries, he really does. He tells himself he can't do something so impure, that it would violate you, that he should be ashamed of himself for it. It becomes more and more and more difficult to restrain himself with time, the feelings rising and the thoughts become more difficult to push away, eventually entertaining the fantasies in his head in an attempt to rid himself of the urge in real life. It doesn't work, no, it only makes the urges worse, and he can't be around you without his body nearly commanding him to do something. And finally, he'll take a different stance entirely, telling himself that, no, it's not going to corrupt you, rather, it's taking care of you. If he really wants to love you, really wants to care for all of your needs, then surely that would include your physical needs, and therefore, really, it would be wrong of him not to help you.

As that shift in viewpoints goes on, he'll become more and more bold, hands lingering just a little longer, face coming just a little closer. It's a slow build of tension, just waiting to boil over.

How forceful are they? Do they care about your willingness?

He understands you're nervous. Again, no matter how experienced you are, somehow in his head he makes it out to be insignificant. Even if you've had other relationships, he convinces himself - and tries to convince you - that they were inadequate, they didn't care about you, not like he does. And he'll treat it as that -- any resistance you put up is nervousness, nothing more, nothing less. He'll reassure you a million times that you won't feel pain, that he'll be gentle, that you'll feel good, even if his size and strength frankly is rather intimidating regardless of experience. He'll keep cooing in your ear, softly whispering reassurance, softly running hands over your skin, holding you in place as the last inch stretches you apart.

Again, no matter how smart, experienced, and capable you may be, you're none of those things to him. You're a fragile, little thing. He has to take care of you at all times. He'd likely try to avoid it, but in the end, if it happened by accident anyway, rest assured you'd be getting the best care of any woman to ever be pregnant in Teyvat, and he'd do everything in his power to ensure you were always comfortable, taking his caretaking to another level, almost never even letting you get up, insisting you stay still and calm and needy.

What kind of (nsfw) punishments would they use?

He'd be one to pull the "it doesn't hurt you as much as it does me" line, but really, even if he refuses to admit it to his own self, having you bent over his lap is just as much for his own enjoyment as it is a disciplinary measure. It's more humiliating than it is painful -- he'd hold back, afraid of hurting you with his strength, but taking in every little flinch and whimper you make as he brings his hand down on your ass, keeping your head pressed down, kneading at the flesh. He'd insist it's the most effective punishment measure, but you can feel the hard-on digging into your stomach. The worse the behavior, the worse the beating, but every time, after it's over, he'll hold you upright, wiping the tears from your eyes and asking you if you learned you lesson, if you intend to do it again, and smiling when you insist you won't.

There are so many ways to mark his property, to stake a visible claim all over you, it's irresistible.
