“I guess the old man taught me well, huh?”
The sudden weight of falling down into the cold street hit you harder than you expected. Forcing you to reach out and grip onto the blue car behind you. Wait, you know this car.
“What?..” you whispered, taking a step back. It was Billy’s blue Camaro, still warm from being recently used. But you weren’t anywhere near his car– Your thoughts are cut off when you suddenly take in your dim reflection from the car window.
The entirety of your right eye was black and teary. Instead of being trapped in the mall again, you’re suddenly back from having just left the tunnels that had run beneath Hawkins. But if you're by Billy’s car then..
Turning around, you nearly gasped at the sight of Billy. He’s healthier than the last time you saw him. No Flayer tentacles stuck in his chest. No dead look in his eyes. He was back to the regular asshole you knew before. The sight of his former appearance has you taken back.
“Billy..” you croaked, unsure what to say. “I-...”
“She’s speechless.” Billy laughed, taking a step towards you. “What a nice change.”
Every part of you is aware that this isn’t real, but seeing him before you is leaving your mind puzzled. “You should go inside, Billy.” you got out eventually, gesturing toward his home, but the moment you glanced over, you noticed it was gone. The land stripped down to just the gutted floor of the house. Only the lawn had been laid intact.
“I don’t have a home anymore. I don’t have anything.” he said slowly, voice dark as he inched closer. You tried to step back, but something about his tone had your feet frozen in place. He took the chance to stand behind you now, wrapping his arms around you in order to pull you close.
 He was ice cold.
“All because of you..” he said into your ear, tickling your skin with his cold breath.
“I didn’t..I didn’t do anything to you, Billy.”
“Exactly,” he agreed. “You didn’t help me..you didn’t save me. You let me die, you let the flayer get me.”
His grip got tighter, causing you to wince out in pain. You had to get out of this. “Let me go.” you said calmly despite the chill that was now coming up your spine. “Billy, let me GO.”
“It’s sad when you consider what’s happened,” he continued on, pressing his face against the side of yours. “Billy said that he loved you, tried to get back together with you, and you left him in the dust for a guy that wouldn’t even consider leaving town for you.”
There were so many alarms going off in your head but you couldn’t help but focus on one in particular.
“Billy? You mean yourself, right?” you asked, trying to turn your face to look at him. But he simply reached one of his cold arms up to pinch at your cheeks, forcing you to look at the empty lot in front of you.
“No one is ever going to pick you, you know? At the end of the day it’ll always be someone better, someone worth sticking around you. There’s no happy ending for you.” His lips ghosted around the base of your neck before he chuckled lightly against you. “No happy ending for us..”
You shook your head, trying to get his daunting words out of your head. “I’m nothing like you..”
That only made him even more amused, raising a laugh out of his chest. “We’re a lot alike, actually.” he hummed, “We use people for pleasure and toss them aside when they decide to go against what we want.”
“I don’t do that.” you said, turning around enough to face him. He looked at you with a smirk before he pinched at your cheek. “I would never do that to anyone.” you added, swatting his hand away.
“So you didn’t dump Steve for saying no to the big move?” he gasped, feigning shock. “Or better yet, you’re not ditching your poor Eddie after he left you alone to wander the forest? I mean, you didn’t even bother to let him speak. He’s probably beating himself up but you don’t care. Not when Stevie is giving you the ol’ love and attention you need. Which, let’s be honest, babydoll, is pretty shitty of you to use him for a quick fuck instead of talking things out. Thought that’s the sort of shit girls like to do.”
His words cut through you like knives, dredging up thoughts you tried to bury deep down. But then, something shifted. Billy mentioned Eddie, someone he couldn't possibly have known about. Their paths never crossed once if you thought hard about it.
"You don't know Eddie," you said slowly, voice struggling between sounding calm and trembling. "How could you possibly know what I’ve done with him if you’re dead..”
A sinister smile twisted Billy's lips as his grip tightened, sending searing pain coursing through your body. "He’s been watching you," he confessed, his voice dripping with malice. "And boy does he have plans for all of you..”
The world around you began to fall apart. The dark sky falling apart like fabric unraveling to reveal a dark crimson sky. The distance etched with bursts of lightning to light up a world in an ominous glow.
“This isn’t happening..” you promised yourself, eyes squeezed shut, desperately trying to convince yourself that this was just a dream, that none of it was real.
“Oh babydoll, did you still think this was just a dream?” (tick)
The arms around you felt different, and you opened your eyes in time to see Billy back to looking like the night of mall fire. His eyes glistened with tears and smile oozed with the dark bloody liquid that seeped from all over his wounds.
“Time for a wake up call.” (tock)
Before you could react, he shoved you with a force that sent you crashing to the ground. Landing hard on the unforgiving concrete that shot your body in instant pain. Just as you began to process what had just happened, a deafening roar filled the air.
To your right, the blinding headlights of an oncoming car came into your vision, hurtling toward you at a terrifying speed. You barely managed to get your hands up to cover your face right as it was about to hit you.
And then, just as suddenly as it had begun, you woke up.
Gasping for air, you sat bolt upright in bed, heart racing with adrenaline. Sweat soaked your skin, and a sense of lingering dread clung onto you like a heavy cloak. The warm glowing light of the sun peeked through your curtains. Nothing like the red haunting sky that was in your dream. New day, new nightmare. You thought.
 “Hey, are you awake?”
Dustin burst into the room, nearly sending you back into panic mode as you scrambled to get out of the bed. Defensive position ready for the attack. The younger boy held onto the door knob in shock, holding a hand out too in case you were about to strike him.
“Whoa,” he chuckled nervously, looking at you carefully. “You okay? You’re all sweaty.”
You licked over your lips, pushing back the hair away from your face. “I’m fine.” you nodded, trying to calm yourself down. “Just got spooked.”
“Right,” he said slowly, skeptically, even. “Well, Steve called. Said he was going to head over here if you wanna shower or something before leaving.”
Turning away from your cousin, you tried to gain some sort of control over yourself as you trudged over to your dresser. Picking out some clothes you could change into after your shower. But from behind you could feel Dustin lingering at the door, a familiar worry still in the air.
“I’m fine, Dustin.” you said, before he could ask. You focused on the clothes before you gathered for your shower. “It was just a bad sleep.”
“You sure? Because..we’d all get if it you needed a day to jump back into–”
“I said I’m fine!” you snapped, turning around finally. The glare on your face is enough to have him take a step back. As if your words were a slap to his face. Guilt quickly filled into your gut and you rubbed a hand over your tired face. “I’m sorry I’m just tired.”
“I get it.” he cleared his throat, “I’ll be in the living room.”
Without another word, he turned on his heels and made his exit. Not two minutes into the day and you were already messing things up again.
“Time for a wake up call.”
You shuddered at the words that repeated in your head and quickly left the room. Hoping for the shower to wash away the remnants of your latest nightmare and give you a chance to start the day fresh.
Tumblr media
The car ride to the supermarket was spent mostly with Dustin yammering to Steve about the plans for today while you sat quietly in the back. The nightmare that pulled you out of your sleep still left you frazzled. Even with the help of a hot shower that tried to wash away the haunting memory. So while Steve kept checking over you now and then, you managed to keep to yourself until you guys arrived at the market.
Instantly Dustin wandered off in search of snacks for Eddie once inside. Leaving you and Steve to navigate the supermarket aisles together as a small awkward tension lingered in the air. You focused on gathering supplies, your mind preoccupied with thoughts of what would be enough to last Eddie for the unforeseeable future.
"Hey," Steve's voice broke through the silence, causing you to glance up from the decorated can of the Smurf’s Beef Ravioli you were inspecting. His curious gaze met yours, and you couldn't help but notice the worry etched into his features.
"You look exhausted," he remarked softly, his tone filled with genuine concern.
 You wanted to sigh.
Of course Steve would be the first one today to distinctly look past all the makeup you expertly applied this morning to notice the exhaustion you were feeling. After the harsh nightmare, the bags in your eyes seemed to take a permanent residence. Offering a weary smile, you attempted to brush past his observation in order to change the mood. “Is that your subtle way of saying I look terrible?”
His eyes widened, worried for a second that you were being serious. “Of course not!” he scoffed, moving closer to you. “You’re gorgeous..but I can tell you look exhausted.”
You watched him carefully, waiting to see if he’d crack from the line of questioning, but when he tilted his head at you, keeping a worried gaze, you let out the withheld sigh, giving in a little bit. “I had a pretty harsh nightmare, don’t think I really slept well the whole night.”
The palm of his hand met your cheek gently. Thumb rubbing against the soft skin before he reached over to push a piece of hair away from your face. "That bad, huh?" he murmured, looking at your features. "Why don't you let me stay over tonight? Just a friendly sleepover. You can wake me up if things get too intense."
You couldn't help but chuckle at his offer. Recalling the past summer filled with nights of him on the pretense of just sleeping. "A sleepover, really? With just the two of us?"
He shrugged, a small smile playing on his lips. "It's not like it's the first time I've slept over at your place."
You raised an eyebrow, unable to suppress a teasing grin from tugging on your face. “Well, if I recall correctly, we didn’t really sleep at those either.”
A faint blush crept up Steve's cheeks, and he scratched the back of his neck sheepishly. "Okay, fair point," he admitted, a hint of embarrassment coloring his voice. "But seriously, I just want to help. You don't have to go through this alone."
It would be so easy to say yes. Give in to that natural urge that always wanted the company of the man before you. To have him by your side and give you all the attention and care you know he would willingly give to you. But your nightmare played in your mind again and you couldn’t help but feel the familiar twist of guilt form in your stomach again.
You opened your mouth to decline the offer when a case of YooHoos was placed quickly into the cart. An out of breath Dustin wiped over the sweat from his forehead, looking between the two of you expectantly. “It’s almost ten and we still have to pick up the others. Let’s go.”
Steve looked over still waiting on an answer from you but all you could do is offer a meek smile. “All right,” you nodded to Dustin. “Let’s head out.” Without looking back, you made your way towards the registers. Stomach twisting more than ever now.
Tumblr media
Thankfully picking up Robin and Max turned out to be quicker than expected. Max had taken the bus to the other girl’s house, making the trips cut down less after Dustin explained you’d also have to make a stop at the hilltop to use his Cerebro. And after some unsettling updates from the Hawkins police department, you all were able to finally make the drive over to the Lipton boat house.
A part of you was slightly nervous to face Eddie again after yesterday. You never really felt the best after chewing out people you cared about. But add the hurt from the day before, plus the predicament with Steve, and the newest bit of information, your body was slowly aching in all sorts of places as you tried to navigate each feeling.
“The streets should be busy today, most of Hawkins are probably over their hangovers from  Friday and have to go back to shopping for the week. We’ll have time to look for clues around the trailer later.” you heard Dustin say to everyone as he and Max took the lead towards the boat house.
“God,” you said suddenly, stopping in place. The days quickly calculated in your mind and you couldn’t help but feel another worry. Robin and Steve both turned at your voice, looking at you curiously before you wiped your hands over your face. “I was supposed to work with Keith today..”
The two of them looked at each other for a second before letting out amused chuckles.
 “What’s so funny?” you frowned.
“Honey, Robin and I closed up the store at seven o’clock last night so we could all go find Eddie.” Steve cleared up.
“Not to mention Steve was gone a whole hour before that to go find you.” she snorted, trudging over with the groceries still in hand as she draped an arm over your shoulder. “We’re totally fired.”
“Fired?” you gaped, slightly worried by how easily over it they seemed to be. “B-but you guys needed the jobs!”
“There’s thousands of other part time jobs in Hawkins, kid.” Robin sighed, giving you a tight lipped smile. “We’ll just have to update our resumes..again.”
She left with that, leaving the two of you behind to join the others down the hill. Glancing at Steve, you opened your mouth, ready to apologize about his likely termination, but he quickly leaned over to press a finger to your lips.
“Don’t even think about apologizing.” he said sternly. “Because no one in the whole world could have stopped me from leaving. Not when it comes to you.”
Again, you’re left speechless by the man before you.
There couldn’t be any proper explanation as to why Steve continuously gave you more than you deserved. Not one that you would believe in anyway. You’ve hurt him, pushed him, and left him with no reason to do things for you. And off he’d go, ditching his life’s responsibilities just to look out for your well being.
It’s all so overwhelming and you find you’re stumped enough that it’s taking a second longer to think of a reply.
“Trouble..” he said after a second of your silence.
You quickly scrambled together a response good enough to divert the seriousness that he seemed to be leading things to lately. Something you know he’ll grow tired of eventually and confront you about. But for now, you’d stick with easing the already harsh day as best as you could.
“I was just going to say I’m glad we won’t have to wear that vest anymore.”
“Right.” he said, sucking in a sharp breath. Then suddenly, he leaned over enough that he could look at your face closely. “Are you..okay?”
Okay seemed to be the last word you’d use to describe yourself. Especially after this morning’s nightmare. But considering the man lost his job to help you out the last time, you figure you should cut this worrisome question short.
“I have a lot on my mind.” You shrugged. “Just..girl problems.”
His brows were knitted tightly together, skeptical of your response. But before he could throw in a follow up question, the sound of Robin calling out to you guys put a stop to that.
“We should go..” he said eventually.
Not wanting to lag behind any longer, you dashed down the hill to the others, catching a glance back to see Steve rub at his face until he remembered to follow after you. The two of you joined just in time to open the door into the boat house.
There’s a slightly yelp sound and the five of you watched as a frightened Eddie looked over at the doorway with wide eyes. Apparently he didn’t notice or hear any of you approaching at all.
“Delivery service!” Dustin exclaimed, a wide grin on his face as he lifted up the grocery bags.
Apparently, you weren’t the only one whose morning was off to a rough start.
Tumblr media
The five of you gathered around Eddie, giving him a few minutes to calm down. But that calmness quickly left the moment Dustin gave him the box of Honeycomb. All there was after that was the crazy amount of crunching as Eddie stuffed as many as he could into his mouth.
“So we got, uh, some good news and some bad news.” Dustin started hesitantly. “How do you prefer it?”
“Bad news first, always.” Eddie said as if there’d be any other way.
“All right, bad news. We tapped into the Hawkins PD dispatch with our Cerebro, and they’re definitely looking for you.” he said before blinking hard, forgetting the last important fact. “Also, they’re, uh, pretty convinced you killed Chrissy.”
“Like, one hundred percent kind of convinced.” Max said next, looking at him solemnly.
“And the good news?” Eddie asked, perplexed.
Robin looked down at him with a familiar gaze to Max’s as she spoke up next. “Your name hasn’t gone public yet. But if we found out about you, it’s a matter of time before others do too. And once that gets out, everyone and their shallow-minded mother is gonna be gunning out for you.”
You can’t help but feel worse hearing everyone lay out the information than from the dispatch. From where you stood behind Dustin, you could see as Eddie’s face paled at the truth.
 “Hunt the freak, right?”
 “Exactly.” Robin confirmed.
The memory of the crash came to mind from his words. Freak of the town. Now it was going to be a man hunt with him as the prey. Dustin before you held a hand out, piping in with what he figured would be words of encouragement.
“So, before that happens, we need to find Vecna, kill him, and prove your innocence.”
 “That’s all, Dustin? That’s all?”
“Yeah, no, that’s pretty much it.”
You can’t help but snort at Dustin’s reply. Feeling the pessimism seeping into your mood. There were too many variables to this idea that made it almost impossible to complete. And while you didn’t want to join in on adding salt to Eddie’s wounds, you couldn’t help but shake your head.
“And after all this we’ll have you back home in time for dinner.” you said offhandedly, keeping your eyes down at your nails. Steve and Dustin turned their gazes over their shoulders to look over at you questionably, making you sheepishly wave them off as you stepped closer towards the group.
“Listen, Eddie,” piped Robin as she attempted to lift up his spirits. “I know everything Dustin is saying sounds totally delusional, but we’ve actually been through this before. I mean, they have a..a few times,” she said gesturing to the three of you. Steve confirmed her words with a reassuring nod as she went on. “And..and I have once. Mine was more human-flesh-based, and theirs was more smoke-related, but bottom line is, collectively, I really feel we got this.”
“Yeah, see, we usually rely on this girl who has super powers. But, uh, those went bye-bye, so uh..” Steve said quickly, adding a true fact that you felt didn’t really help much considering El wasn’t even in town in the first place.
“So, we’re technically in more of the–” Robin volleyed in.
 “Kinda..”
“Brainstorming phase.” Max finished, seeming to conclude where Robin and Steve were going with their words.
“There..There’s nothing to worry about.” Dustin spluttered, attempting to bring the group in together.
Eddie was rightfully stunned at everyone, tilting his head in shock as he stared at his friend in disbelief. But he’s soon after glancing over to you finally. Looking for what you had to say. In fact, everyone glanced over at you, almost waiting for you to say otherwise.
And while you parents always said they admired your candor, not everyone around you reacted the best to it.
So, you shot him a small tight lipped smile, nodding your head to everyone. “We’re gonna help you, Ed.” you said honestly. “Just..hopefully without any more..complications.”
As if the universe was waiting for their cue, the sounds of sirens cut through the silence of the group. Grabbing all the attention off of you as everyone quickly reacted to the new possible threat.
 “Tarp.” Robin pointed out. “Tarp!”
Eddie quickly concealed himself underneath the fabric while the rest of you dashed over to the windows. Peering out through the dirty glass in time to watch as police cars and ambulances zipped past the front of the house.
“Where the hell are they going?” you heard Dustin mutter under his breath. His gaze shifted up to you curiously.
“I don’t know, but we need to go find out.”
Tumblr media
As the group dispersed from the boat house, you felt a hand gently grab at your arm, halting your exit. Turning around, you found Eddie out from the safety of his tarp. Looking at you with remorse in his eyes. You could practically feel how nervous he was.
"Hey," he began softly, "I need to talk to you for a sec."
Sensing where this conversation was going to go, you almost wanted to reject him. You weren’t sure how many tense conversations you could handle for the day. But seeing as you weren’t certain of when you’d actually see Eddie again, you nodded your head and stayed in place.
"I wanted to apologize," he continued, his voice tinged with regret. "For that shit back at the van, the woods, all of it. I know it was messed up,..I never meant for any of that to happen."
His words stirred conflicting emotions within you. Anger, frustration, but also a bit of understanding.
At this point, you knew Eddie. He was the same guy who’d get annoyed with your lectures about his fashion taste, or who’d try and kiss you whenever you had a bad day at work, and who would bring out that ridiculous Mick Jagger impression that made you laugh before the first bell rang. He was impulsive, but never malicious.
Still, the wounds still lingered inside of you.
"I was terrified, Eddie," you admitted, voice barely rising above a whisper despite the anger behind it. "Being lost in those woods...I had no idea where I was going or what was around me. I just saw Chrissy die and woke up to a world of mess."
His expression softened, and you could see the heavy remorse returned back to his features. "I'm so sorry, Princess.” he croaked, hands reached out to grip onto your arms. “I promise I'll make it up to you, however I can. I won't let you down again."
You pushed away remaining doubt that wanted to linger behind. Wanting to believe that there were still ways to turn things around. At least in terms of your friendship with Eddie. He was there for you through your shitty moments, it was time you took your turn in being there for him.
In this case, his moment being a murder case.
“Well, let’s make a habit out of not ditching each other in the woods then.” you said finally.
He snorted excitedly, chuckling a bit at your reaction before he pulled you in a tight hug that had you patting his back just to calm him down. “Sounds reasonable to me.”
“Good.” you laughed, giving him a final pat to release you out of his tight hold. “Uhh, Eddie? Kinda need to go work on saving your ass now.”
“Sorry,” he muttered, loosening up his grip. “I was just kinda worried we’d stop being friends..”
You pulled back to look up at him, searching his eyes for a moment before you nodded your head. “We’re still friends..”
“Good, because now that we’re square again, I really gotta say, you look like shit.”
“What is it with you guys today? I mean, I am tired, but seriously what the fu–” your words are cut off when Eddie leaned in to press his lips against yours. It wasn’t the most unusual reaction from him. There had been many times he’d say something to annoy you and cut off your anger with a sloppy kiss. But at the current time you couldn’t help but think about the last kiss you had from a freakout. And many other things you did with the man who gave it to you.
"Eddie, I..." you trailed off, unable to find the right words to explain the complexity of problems you had going on. Especially the ones in your love life.
He quickly retreated, a sheepish smile playing on his lips. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have—"
Suddenly, a throat cleared from behind, cutting into the moment. Instantly your heart plummeted as you turned to see Steve standing under the threshold of the door. Expression unreadable. How much did he see? How much did he hear?
"We’re ready to go," he stated curtly, avoiding your gaze. “If you two are done.”
Without waiting for you to reply, he quickly turned and left the doorway to join the others back up where the car was. You let out a tired sigh, unsure how you were going to even explain anything of what he just witnessed. All you knew was this was slowly turning from a bad morning to a crappy day.
“Did I just make things worse?” you heard Eddie chuckle behind you.
“No, Ed, I think I did.”
Tumblr media
Despite the awkwardness of your late entrance to the car, the group made it just in time to catch the location of where the cops were heading to. It was towards the main road that led over to Forest Hills.
Everyone slowly began to murmur out curious questions as to what it could be. Chrissy’s body had already been covered, what could have happened in just a day?
The car came to a slow stop and the group slowly made an exit out of the car. Looking around what looked like a scene of a crime. Amongst the cars surrounding the area was one that caught your attention quickly. Coroner. But before you could mention that, the sight of a brightly colored skirt caught your attention.
Talking close to the newly appointed Sheriff Powell stood Nancy.
You stepped out on the road, ready to make your way over to join her when a hand tugged on your elbow. Steve, who despite still held some difference towards you since the boathouse, did not want you going forward. Only cocking his chin in the direction of the girl.
She looked relieved to see you guys but you could tell from the furrow in her brow that she was more than upset. Looking close to crying. Still, she held up a weak hand, waving over at the group with a pained expression.
“Shit.” you heard Max whisper. She pointed over towards the side of the road. On the floor, just past your friend, was another body, covered up in a white sheet.
 Vecna’s second victim.
Tumblr media
Picking at your nails had seemed to be a new habit of yours now. Previously used to keep you busy from conversations slowly turned into you using it to distract yourself from the reality of things. Like right now, as the group gathered around one of the lunch tables just outside of Eddie’s trailer, listening to Nancy explain what the police had found, you were currently tearing at the side of your hangnail.
Fred was gone. Just the same as Chrissy. Meaning that Dustin was right about this not being the last of Vecna’s attacks. But the idea of it being people you all knew seemed to make this whole thing more sickening.
It was eerie to be back in the trailer park. You made it a point to sit at the side of the table facing the Munson home. Needing to keep your eyes locked on the place again in case of anything odd happening. At one point you felt a hand slowly pat over at your leg, making you jump a bit before glancing to your left.
Steve stared at you expectantly before he shook his head in confusion. “You with us?” he asked softly, voice with the familiar tinge of worry.
Nodding your head, you tucked your hands down into your lap, looking at the three girls across from you.
“So, you’re saying that this thing that killed Fred and Chrissy, it’s from the Upside Down?”
“If the shoe fits,” Steve said simply before he looked at you again. “Right?”
“Well, considering the lights blinked like usual before the attack happened. I’d say yes.”
“Our working theory is that he attacks with a spell or a curse.” Dustin added. “Now, whether or not he’s doing the bidding of the Mind Flayer or just loves killing teens, we don’t know.”
“All we know is that this is something different.” Max joined in, a frown etched on her face as she glanced amongst everyone. “Something new.”
“Doesn’t make sense.” Nancy muttered, shaking her head.
You reached over to place a hand towards her, gaining her attention to you. “Has anything about the Upside Down ever made sense?” you asked honestly, “Besides, this is still a work in progress.”
“She’s right, it’s only a theory.” Dustin said after you.
“No, Fred and Chrissy don’t make sense.” Nancy explained, putting together something in her head. “I mean, why them?”
“Maybe they were just in the wrong place. “ Dustin tried. “They were both at the game.”
Max nodded her head, following the pieces coming together. “And near the trailer park.”
“We’re at the trailer park.” Steve pointed out slowly. “Uhh, should we maybe not be here?”
You sucked in a slow breath before leaning back to look around the area. It looked the same as when you’d come to visit Eddie. Max’s trailer was still just across the way, and the sound of wind chimes still echoed in the distance. But one glance back to the Munson trailer and you felt your stomach dip.
“There is something about this place.” Nancy said after a second. “Fred started acting weird the second we got here.”
Robin looked over at Nancy curiously.  “Acting weird as in..?”
 “Scared, on edge, upset.”
It completely bothered you how similar you felt to that right now. But you could practically feel worried glances from some of the people at the table, so you bottled down speaking up on that in favor of hearing what Dustin had to say next.
“Max said Chrissy was upset too.”
“Yeah, but not here.” she shook her head. “She was crying in the bathroom at school.”
For a second you couldn’t help but feel a twist in your stomach at the idea of Chrissy. She was so nice in the van that night. Wanting to take the special K just to get through the night without feeling overwhelmed. But her troubles were vastly bigger than she laid out for you and you couldn’t help but feel bad for not reaching out more when you had the chance.
“Serial killers stalk their prey before they strike, right?” Robin asked, cutting into silence. “So, maybe Fred and Chrissy saw this Vecman–”
 “Vecna.” Dustin quickly corrected.
“I don’t know about you guys but if I saw some freaky wizard monster, I would mention it to someone.” Steve said. His eyes looked to you, almost like he was expecting you to agree with him. And while the logical side of you did, something deep inside was stopping you entirely from speaking out.
“Maybe they did.” Max considered slowly. “I saw Chrissy leaving Ms. Kelley’s office. If you saw a monster, you..you wouldn’t go to the police. They’d never believe you. But you might go to your–”
 “Your shrink.” Robin concluded.
The idea of Fred and Chrissy having a connection through Ms. Kelley did little to ease your growing anxiety. Especially when you remembered that amongst the few students that happened to be stuck in her counseling sessions, was you.

Not wanting to waste the day, the group quickly left the bench to head over to the next destination. Hopefully Max could find her way into getting out some information about the others from Ms. Kelley.
You’re walking close beside Nancy when she elbowed your side, raising a brow to you before nodding towards the direction of her car. You almost wanted to ask her what she had meant when she gave you a familiar look. Quickly getting the hint that she had something else in mind, you casually turned towards the car. That is until the group’s den mother seemed to take notice.
“Whoa, whoa, HEY! HEY!” Steve said, jogging after the two of you. “Where are you guys going?”
“Oh, there’s just something I wanna check on first.” she explained simply, nudging at your side quickly.
“I’m gonna go with her, you know Nancy Drew needs Bess Marvin and all that.” you waved, trying to make a turn for the car again.
“Something you guys wanna share with the rest of us?” Dustin asked, slightly offended.
“I don’t wanna waste your time. It’s a real shot in the dark.” she said shyly, kicking at the dirt for a second. You nodded your head, looking over at the rest of the group with a small smile.
“If she’s got a hunch, it might be worth checking out guys. We’ll be back soon.” you reassured them.
“Hey, you can’t just ditch us.” Dustin scoffed. “Besides, it’s better to keep an eye on you if you’re suddenly turned into a suspect and we need to hide you up with Eddie.”
Max looked over at Dustin before she nodded her head, agreeing. “There’s still a chance your name could come up. If we can’t reach you then we wouldn’t be able to help you on time.”
Something told you that there might be another reason Dustin and Max wanted you to stay and while you were sure nothing would happen while going with Nancy, you also didn’t want to make things harder on anyone. Especially with these two out of all them showing concern openly.
“Looks like I’m with the kids.” you sighed, turning defeatedly to Nancy. “Think you’ll be okay?”
“I’ll be an hour or two tops.” she nodded. “We’ll regroup after that.”
“Yeah okay. Are you guys out of your mind?” Steve asked, looking at you two a little perplexed. “Flying solo with this Vecna creep on the loose? No, it’s too dangerous. You need..you need someone to..” His face turned hard with a sudden frustration as he looked at Nancy worriedly. Your stomach caught onto that tension quicker than your brain and twisted slightly at a growing feeling you haven’t felt in a while. Steve didn’t seem to notice as he turned to toss his keys over to Robin.
“Here you go. I’ll stick with Nance.” he said quickly. “You guys take the car, check out the shrink.”
The girl caught the keys awkwardly, giving Steve a confused look as she pointed over to the car. “Don’t think you want me driving your car.” she said wearily.
“Didn’t think he let anyone drive the car.” you scoffed, crossing your arms over your chest. “Last time he nearly had a heart attack and that was just driving in the streets.”
Steve blinked over at you confused before he turned back to Robin. “Why?” he asked, ignoring your jab.
 “I don’t have a license.”
“Why don’t you have a license?” he asked frustratedly.
“I’m poor.” she reasoned with a shrug.
“I can drive.” Max offered, only adding fuel to Steve’s emotions.
“No, No! Never again. Please. Anybody but you. NO.” he argued.
Dustin, ever with his perfect timing, looked at Steve with his arms out. As if he were ready to take on the responsibility that no one on the team could take. From behind Steve you could see as his body deflated at his choices.
 “No chance.”
 “Come on!”
Nancy looked a little uncomfortable at Steve’s persistence, only casting you an apologetic look. You on the other hand could not stop the familiar green monster from trying to crawl its way up from the depths of your soul. Unsure where Steve’s need to be around Nancy came from just yet. But you knew by now that it wasn’t the best idea to act on those feelings just yet.
Finally Steve glanced back to you, raising a brow questionably.
 Bastard.
“Fine,” you said calmly, earning a small shock from the group. As if they expected some other reaction from you. Taking a step towards him, you held out your hand, giving Steve a sweet smile. “I’ll take your car.”
Steve nervously licked over his lips. Eyes shifting from your hand, then to Nancy, and then back at you. “No,” he gulped, shaking his head lightly. “I sense I made a mistake of some kind.”
Fed up with everything, Robin reached for the walkie in Dustin’s bag and stepped in. “All right, okay. This is stupid. Us ladies will stick together.” she confirmed, putting the keys back into Steve’s hands. Her eyes gave him a warning look before she marched over to join Nancy’s side. “Unless you think we need you to protect us?” she said with a humorous chuckle.
The two of you didn’t move from your spot. Only watching as Robin made her way towards Nancy’s car. Taking the lead for their exit. Nancy gave you both a sympathetic shrug before she mouthed an apology to you before turning on her heels to catch up with the other girl.
“Be careful!” he called out, Robin turned around, shooting out a peace sign before she glanced at you.
“Should be saying that to yourself!” she laughed, giving you a wink.
From the corner of your eye you can feel as Steve nervously looked over at you. His previous annoyance went away when he noticed your change in demeanor. Without another thought you walked towards his car, avoiding his gaze as you made your way towards the car doors. He quickly rushed over, moving to open up the passenger door for you, a small tight lip smile on his face.
Ignoring that offer, you carefully opened up the backseat and slipped in beside Max. Avoiding his gaze as you slammed the door shut. From the outside you could hear Dustin chortle at his friend as he moved to take the free spot. “Nice one,” he said to Steve. “You just gonna stand there and gawk?”
 “Dude, shut up.”
“Why don’t we go? Okay?” he said teasingly.
“Shut up and get in the car.” he ordered. “Wipe your feet.”
You watched as Dustin carelessly began to wipe his feet inside the car. Almost comically as he patted the shoe against the clean interior floor, earning another explosive reaction from Steve.
“On the outside, not the inside!”
There was a bit more huffing between the two as they finally got into their seats. Leaving the car in a second of silence. Steve glanced back at you, opening his mouth to say something. But instead of giving him the chance to say anything, you turned in your seat, facing your direction to look out the window. Giving you the chance to give him a bit of the silent treatment.
“Always the babysitter.” Steve muttered angrily, turning on the engine of the car. “Always the GODDAMN babysitter!”
Tumblr media
You watched carefully from your side of the car as Max entered inside Ms. Kelley’s home. Only looking back at you guys once before the door closed up behind her. Hopefully the whole thing wouldn’t take as long and the four of you could make your way back to others and give you space away from Steve.
 “So..we gonna talk about..it?”
Glancing to your right, you looked into the passenger mirror to find Dustin looking at Steve. He seemed to have purposely left his window open enough that you were able to eavesdrop into their conversation.
“Huh? Sorry, talk about what?” Steve asked, barely paying attention.
“Your temporary insanity earlier today when you basically threw yourself at Nance? And in front of my cousin of all people.”
It took everything in you not to react to what you just heard. Your cousin’s words basically confirm the worries that hit you in the trailer park. The little green monster inside was practically dancing as it festered on the negative energy building up inside of you.
“Okay, first of all, that’s not what happened.” Steve said defensively.
“Pretty sure that’s what happened.” he countered. “It was public, there were like, a lot of witnesses. The prime one being at the back of your car right now.”
He made it a point to glance at you through the mirror, catching your glaring gaze. He looked like he was about to change things up from his expression but you quickly shook your head, nodding in the direction of Steve’s side of the car for him to continue.
“Uh-Are you implying I still have a thing for Nance? Really? Me?”
“No, I’m not implying.” he said, shaking his head. “I’m stating. And, as it relates to your current break up leaving you to go on various dates, it’s pretty much the only logical explanation.”
“That’s not the only one.” Steve denied quickly. “You know what I’ve been going through. What I’ve been thinking. And as for Nance, I was just trying to protect a friend.”
From the mirror you could see Dustin’s face turned amused, like he was beyond believing that statement in the slightest way. You let out a small sigh, glancing down at the ground almost..defeatedly.
This wasn’t even something you had the right to be angry about. If anything, the only reason you had room to speak on the situation was the fact that Nancy was currently dating your best friend and you couldn’t just let Steve of all people step in on that.
God, that thought alone made you feel sick.
“A friend, Henderson. Okay?” Steve said after noticing Dustin’s silence.
 “Okay.”
“I don’t wanna find her in the morning with her eyes sucked out of the front of her skull by this Vecna creep.”
Dustin let out an amused giggle. “You’re bright red in the face right now!”
Not having it in your stomach to listen to anything else, you stomped away from the car. Trying not to let the stinging tears in your eyes slip out. Your mind viciously shoots you into a memory from the first fall when Billy arrived. His terrorizing had slowly come to an end that night but not without some parting words to you.
“He’ll never get over Wheeler. It’s that first love shit that chicks are so keen for. He’ll never get away from that feeling. Trust me, I’d know.”
Back then you convinced yourself that he wasn’t telling the truth. That he took your weakness that night to try and get under your skin. But now? Now your mind is so frazzled and so broken lately that everything is turning into doubt.
 “Get in the car.”
You turned around to find Max rushing over to the car door, giving you a wide look before she entered inside. Quickly, you joined in after her, closing up the door in time to catch her giving Steve an order to drive. He’s quick to start up the car, setting all of you to hit against the seats as he sped away from the house.
Eventually Max briefly explained what happened inside and stated that the best way to get more information would be in Ms. Kelley’s office at the school. You tried to explain it’d be a lot harder to break in due to the break but she simply held up a pair of office keys.
Suddenly the walkie in Dustin’s lap let out a loud squawk before a voice suddenly spoke through.
“Dustin. It’s Lucas. Do you copy? Dustin.”
The sudden sound of your friend’s voice had you and Max quickly leaning over your seats, trying to listen in on the incoming message.
“Lucas? Where the hell have you been?” Dustin asked into the walkie.
“Just listen.” Lucas pleaded. “Are you guys looking for Eddie?”
“Yeah and we found him, no thanks to you.” he chided back.
 “You found him?”
“He’s at a boathouse on Coal Mill Road. Don’t worry, he’s safe.”
“You guys know he killed Chrissy, right?” Lucas asked worriedly. The car seemed to grow tense at that. Now the teens at the school surely knew he was the main suspect. Time was beginning to run out.
“That’s bullshit. Eddie tried to save Chrissy. My cousin was there!”
“She was there too?! Wait, then why do all the cops say he did it?”
Max, having had enough, reached over for the walkie. “Lucas, you’re so behind it’s ridiculous, okay? Just meet us at the school. We’ll explain later.”
“I..I can’t. I think some real bad shit’s about to go down.”
“What are you talking about? What bad shit?” she asked, but there was no response back. Almost as if the connection was lost. “Lucas? Lucas?”
“Line got cut off.” Dustin said, reaching back for the walkie. “What do you think he meant?”
“I’m not sure.” Steve said, gripping the wheel tightly. “Let’s just get to the school.”
Tumblr media
It was dark by the time the four of you arrived at Hawkins. The air held an eerie atmosphere as you guys parked discreetly in the back of the school. Couldn’t exactly have anyone checking by to see there was someone at the school this time of night.
Your cousin was thankfully prepared for the night again and quickly passed around a couple of flashlights, giving you guys some light to venture through the creepy halls with.
“I gotta say, didn’t think I’d be coming back here anytime soon.” Steve muttered to you, smacking at the side of his flashlight before it fully turned on.
“It’s definitely not the way I wanted to spend my Spring Break.” you nodded, flashing towards one of the classrooms.
There’s an awkward building tension between the two of you. A part of you wanted to squash down that anger from before, use it to keep focus on the problems at hand. But there was a bigger part inside that was gleefully ready to make a mess out of things.
Per usual.
“Didn’t think I’d spend the day like this.” he chuckled lightly, looking over at you. “Kind of a bad way to end the weekend don’t you think?”
Something in his words, while innocent, just irked you. Making your whole body shift as you finally let free some of the venom that had been building up since the trailer park.
“Yeah, you must be having a pretty bad day considering you’re stuck babysitting with me instead of chumming it up with Robin or looking out for Nancy.”
Steve looked almost as if your words were a slap to the face, staggering back a second before his expression quickly changed to annoyance. He reached a hand out to stop you from walking.
“Where’s that coming from?” he asked slowly.
“Seriously?” you laughed, raising a brow at him. “Did you suddenly forget that little show you gave back in Forest Hills?” You made an effort to dramatically reenact tossing invisible car keys. “Here you go. I’ll stick with Nance.” you said in a dramatically deep voice.
He was unamused by that, pressing his lips together before he scratched at his hair. A nervous tick he got whenever something got under his skin. “I’m sorry I’m a little particular with who I hang out with at the moment. I figured you’d feel the same way considering you probably wanted to stick around with Eddie so you guys could make out and weirdly flirt again.”
Sometimes you forget that Steve’s as much of a former bitch as you were. Making his bite hurt particularly bad right now. Still, you weren’t one to back down from a verbal fight.
“Wow, I’m not really surprised you noticed everything I’m doing considering how you’ve been trying to figure out ways to keep me at home.” Tilting your head you step closer to look up at Steve. “Was worrying about me too much for you now that you want to display your macho-man persona to Nancy again?”
“You’re pulling that out of nowhere.” he scoffed, shaking his head at you. “I mean, really, how is me wanting you to stay home because I’m worried about how tired you look, suddenly turn into me trying to get back with Nancy?”
“Oh, so now it’s suddenly trying get back with Nancy?”
 “No, you just said–”
“I said you were showing off!”
He let out a long sigh, rubbing a hand over his face before he turned to look at you seriously. “All I offered was to go with Nancy so that she wasn’t alone. Her friend just died the same way Chrissy did and I didn’t want her to end up the same way. I was just trying to be a comforting friend.”
“So you wanted to comfort her? Well, that’s great to hear considering we both know how you like to comfort people through their crisis, don’t we?”
“I-It was different with you, okay?” He stuttered a bit, before he held his hands up, looking annoyed again. “You’re the one who is kissing some other guy and it’s me that’s trying to get with someone?”
“As always, you always take one part of the picture to paint the story, your highness.” you sighed, pushing a hair out of your face. “But don’t worry, I’m sure Robin will put in a good word for you with Nancy since you’re so keen on chivalry.”
“That’s not fair. That is not what I want.” he spat. “Look, I know that you two have a thing okay? I’m not going to step in on it but that doesn’t mean I have to be nice about it either. So, quit using the friendly friendship I have with Nance to compare your beneficial one with Eddie.”
“There isn't a thing. God, Steve.” you frowned. “In case you haven’t figured it out yet, Eddie kissed me. I didn’t ask him to, nor to hold me, or anything. He’s just a friend..and I pulled back.”
“That’s not the only thing you two have done, quit acting like it’s just some innocent friendship.”
“If you can’t seem to remember, the only person around here that I’ve willingly done anything with in the past twenty-four hours, is you, so..” you said as a matter of fact. “Also I think it’s unfair that you get mad at Eddie for kissing me but quickly go around to play the brave knight in shining white Adidas to Nance.”
 “They’re Nikes!” he countered weakly.
You could only scoff at him in disbelief. “This conversation isn’t going anywhere. I’m sorry I’m not the one you want to be around right now, let’s just leave things at that.”
Taking a step to leave him you made an effort to follow after the two kids when Steve reached forward to grip at your arm. “I don’t want you to think that I don’t want you around. But I know you’re not okay right now. And the more you try and push yourself in this, the more I can tell that something else is bothering you.”
He’s staring down at you with the familiar look of worry he’s been doing these past few days. Something that would have comforted you the other day, but not with how you were feeling right now.
“You’re right.” you said softly, reaching up to gently pat at his hand. “There is something bothering me.”
From the tone of your voice, Steve could easily tell where this was going to go, only giving you a pleading look as he tried to diffuse the comeback you were about to give him.
 “Don’t say it’s me-
 “It’s you.”
Without a sparing glance, you pushed out of his grip and brushed and brushed past a nosy, lingering, Dustin in order to join Max at the front of the search. Her gaze stayed ahead, looking away from you, but from the corner of your eye you could see as she shook her head. A small smirk on her lips.
 “Well that was really nice.”
“Oh, shut up.” You huffed, crossing your arms over your chest. “Like you have any room to talk about niceties.”
 “I don’t?” She asked amusedly.
“Well considering your on and off history with Lucas, I’d think it’s fair to say you’re just as good with dealing with exes as I am.”
She frowned for a moment, seeming to think it over before she shrugged. “Guess we’re both kinda messed up.”
A part of you wanted to argue. Say how she’s wrong and that aside from what was currently going on, you were fine. But considering the dramatic fight you just shared for the two kids, you figured she wasn’t entirely wrong. “It’s kinda nice.” you said eventually, nudging her side playfully.
“It’s nice that we’re messed up?” She chuckled, looking a little taken back.
“No,” you hummed lightly, “it’s nice we’re messed up together.”
She finally glanced over at you, giving you a weird look before laughing. “You’re so weird.” she said, nudging you back.
With that small bit of comfort, the two of you silently led the other boys the rest of the way to Ms. Kelley’s office.
The familiar lingering scent of her relaxing lavender candle hit your senses quickly once you entered inside. Which you were thankful for considering the small stress you seemed to be adding onto yourself. You were happy to finally have a moment where all you guys had to do was focus on the clues needed to progress your theories and not your current problems.
“It’s like a mini-Watergate or something.” Dustin said behind you. “Hawkinsgate.”
“Wait a second, didn’t those guys get caught?” asked Steve.
You made your way over towards the desk, looking over the papers laid out neatly at the center of the table while Max peeked through the cabinet for the files.
 “Holy shit.” she said suddenly.
“You found it?” Steve asked, as the rest of you gathered around her.
“Yeah, and not just Chrissy’s file. Fred was seeing Ms. Kelley too.” Her hand reached back into the cabinet, pulling out one more manila envelope before she turned over to face you. Her eyes focused on you intently as she held the file up in the air. “And so were you.”
Tumblr media
Even with your eyes looking down at your file, you could feel the intense stare from Steve’s eyes. He hasn’t stopped looking at you ever since Max revealed your file to everyone. You couldn’t help but find it all worthless to bring up. To you, it was just your regular file. There was the first meeting recorded, the goals she wanted you to have for the next couple of years. Nothing out of the ordinary until this year. When she began to take notice of your reaction towards Billy’s death.
“God,” you scoffed, looking down at her words. “Behavioral avoidance? What a load of crap.”
You carefully threw the file onto the desk, plopping down in her chair to look over at what Max had been reading across from you.
The folder containing Chrissy’s sessions quickly caught your eye. Making you curious to know what the girl truly had been going through before her untimely death.
“Can I see Fred’s file?” she asked suddenly.
“Yeah,” Steve said, passing the folder over to her. She quickly laid it out before her, flipping through the papers to collect whatever information caught her attention. From the side you could see as Steve carefully tried to reach out for your file. You made it a point to move away from him on the other side of the desk.
Leaning over, you reached over for Chrissy’s file, looking over the small details listed on her last session. Headaches, nosebleeds, nightmares, anxiety, insomnia, trauma.. All things that made sense but..oddly familiar. Moving closer, you peered over to look down at Fred’s notes that Max had stopped at.
..They were almost similar to Chrissy’s.
But that didn’t make sense. It couldn’t. Because if that were the few connecting signs to what made Vecna attack Chrissy and Fred then what did that mean about you? Glancing back at your folder, you pushed through the notes again, trying to figure out if there was anything similar to what was on the other two folders. But there was nothing.
Only the small note written at the corner of your last session.
Might benefit if suggested with a group therapy. Perhaps with Max M.  Both suffer from related trauma.
 Related trauma? You thought.
Glancing up from the papers, you peered over at Max worriedly. If you didn’t know any better, you’d think she looked a lot like how you felt at the moment. But this couldn’t be right. You never voiced to Ms. Kelley any of these things. You weren’t seeing any weird Vecna monster or dealing with trauma. You were-
 “Perfectly fine?” (tick)
You felt a cold shiver run down your back and glanced up in the room. Almost expecting to see if anyone else had heard that. There’s a heavy weight suddenly over you and you feel as if the air in the room was slowly being sucked out. This couldn’t be happening. You weren’t like the others. You weren’t going through these struggles you weren’t–
 “Going crazy? (tock)
“Max! MAX!”
The sounds of Dustin and Steve calling out to Max instantly pulled you out from you haunting thoughts. Before you was a frozen Max, still frozen in place. “Max?” you called out, getting out from your seat to kneel beside her.
Steve’s hand rested on your shoulders, concern on his face as he began to breathe heavily. “What’s going on?” he asked, voice uneasy. “What do we do?”
“She’s just..I don’t know!” you panicked, shaking at her shoulders. “Max, c’mon. Talk to me!” But as you gazed into her vacant eyes, a chilling thought swept right through you.
Did you guys just run out of time?
Tumblr media
A/N: okay so this chapter is kinda messy. Reader is seriously losing her mind but I promise that trouble is gonna get her head on screwed right soon enough. Maybe after she remembers that Nancy is in love with Jonathan and Steve practically dropped everything to go to her. I blame Vecna tbh. And Billy from the afterlife.

Steve Harrington x Hargrove!reader
Warnings: mentions of Billy fighting, mentions of drinking, mentions of blood, billy being soft, fluff
Summary: Billy is seen as super mean and tough, but what happens when someone from the team finds him being soft with his sister?
Requested by @manyfandomsfanvergent
Tumblr media
Billy Hargrove, the new heartthrob in the high school. Your older brother. He was a sight for the sore eyes of many girls who were single or taken. It didn't matter. Everyone wanted a piece of the new boy in town.
Billy was your typical mean guy who gets stuck in a small town with nothing better to do than fight, drink, and party. It was his specialty to throw the biggest parties of the year and have everyone drunk in a few hours. You were kind of like Billy. The partying, the guys wanting you, everyone curious about you.
That's how you ended up dating Steve Harrington. He and your brother never got along but when it came to you, everything was okay. As long as Steve didn't hurt you. Steve only ever did what you wanted him to do. He was a gentleman, contradicting the rumors of him being King Steve. He changed.
So Billy would get into fights, one being with your boyfriend when he was drunk. Another was so bad that the guy had to go to the hospital downtown. He ended up with 37 stitches and a bloody nose. Billy mostly fought when he heard people, mostly guys, talking shit about you. How much they want a piece of you or whatever. The moment your name comes out of their mouths with anything ill toward you, it gave him the green light.
---
Basketball practice had just started when you came into the gym with a friend. Billy turned to you and he smiled. Most of the guys missed it. Not Brad. No, Brad noticed and he was going to dig into Billy about it. It was weird for Billy to be nice. The only thing is, Brad had never met you nor did he know that you were Billy's sister.
You waved for Billy to come over so you could tell him you were leaving with your friend, Vanessa so you could go to the mall. He shot once more and then jogged over to you. Brad stopped the guys and they all watched as you two were talking and smiling. Billy looks like he is listening to everything you say and laughs.
"Why the hell have we stopped?" Steve asks, walking over to James.
"Look, Billy got another girl thirsting after him."
"Huh?"
Billy wrapped his arms around your shoulders and drew you in for a hug. He whispered something in your ear and you laughed before slapping his shoulder. He let you go by pushing you in the brotherly way and you were off. Billy came back with a smile before it disappeared at the guys talking to each other.
"Dude, leave him alone. What is fucking wrong with you?" Steve whispered-yelled.
"Dude, chill. It's just weird seeing him happy and shit."
"He just being himself."
"Being himself? Billy beat the shit out of me like three days ago. That ain't normal."
"You wouldn't know because you do not go to his house like I do." Steve turns away from Brad and leaves.
"What you want?" Billy said.
"We saw you flirting with that girl," Brad smirked.
"Ew. Gross."
"What? She's hot."
"Dude, that is my sister."
"Oh, I'm sorry."
"Nah, you good man." Billy said before throwing a punch square in the boy's face. He fell to the ground and Billy climbed on top of him, punching him in the face.
"Billy, stop. Billy," Steve pulled him off.
"Walk it off man, let's just get back to practice."
"Don't fucking talk about my little sister."
Billy turned to the other guys, "So let's get to it."
Brad was bleeding on the floor but no one wanted to help because they didn't want Billy to fight them. Billy started dribbling the ball when he smiled at Steve.
"Let's get ready to win this game,'' He said before making a lay up.

Hiiii~
Now how about jealous sex with Jack?~ Him getting so angry and possessive over MC that he fucks then senseless while growling "Mine" or something pleeeease
Hey~ You just keep them coming don't you? Not the I mind them, nor writing these beautiful ideas into more words. Let's write it. This includes: Getting fucked senseless holy shit AND someone calling you and he makes damn well sure you answer, Praise, Typical Use Of: "Sunshine, Sunspot, Sunbeam" etc.., Use of "Mine"
You woke up earlier than Jack thought you'd willing wake up on your day off. You planned to go out to the mall, and grab a lunch with your dear-ol' pal, Shaun! You got dressed up, nothing too fancy, but it definitely caught Jack's eye as you grabbed your wallet and keys. As you stuffed them into your pockets, Jack perked an eye from the kitchen. "Where you headed to, sunspot?" He said as he walked up to you, pulling you into his arms, kissing your cheek softly. You giggled, kissing him right back. "I'm going out with Shaun. You remember him, right? He stayed with us for a little bit!" You gave Jack a big smile, squeezing him as you did so.
"Yeah, I remember him." He said in a cold monotonous tone. He pulled you in closer, his hand resting behind your head, as his other arm held you close by your waist. Something about hanging out with Shaun, alone, dressed so nicely, didn't sit well with him. It did not sit well at all. Something about someone else spending quality time with his sunshine, was not something he could let off the hook so easily. "Something wrong, Jack?" You say after pulling away from his warm embrace. Worried, you look up at him. He looks down at you, changing his tone so fast. "Just sweet dandy, lemon candy!" He smiles, kissing you again, swinging his arms around your shoulders. "Do you have to go? I'm gonna miss you!~" "Yes, I'm going Jack." You chuckle softly, gently caressing his cheek. Now that you think of it, you never really left Jack alone by yourself. And if you did it was because of a quick errand to run. You were going to be alone for 3-4 hours, with a guy that Jack may or may not have some mixed feelings over. "Please? Don't leave." He whimpers, picking up his hand and smoothing out your hair. Jack does not want you to leave, nor does he want you with some guy who's definitely in the imaginary competition of winning your love. At least that's how he would put it. "I'm only gonna be gone for a few hours, I'll see you later, Jack." Kissing the tip of his nose, you pat his cheek and walk out your door. Locking it behind you. He was pissed. You're leaving looking like that, with some other guy, not even tell him when he should except you home, and you didn't say that you loved him. Downright disrespectful.
As you had your fun with Shaun, going to the mall, getting some new clothes and trinkets for yourself, and somethings for Jack, which Shaun definitely questioned on who they were for, Jack was cleaning away your house angrily. He did laundry, vacuumed, cleaned up your kitchen. Hell he could've went grocery shopping with all the food you had when you came back. Being alone gave him time to over-think. Is this it? Are you finally leaving him? Have you found someone else? Has something bad happened to you instead? Has he put a spell under you to make you fall under his arm? He was in fury. He was jealous, and he had just the idea for when you got home. "Hey Jack! I'm home! I got you a few things as-well!" You finally come home, as promised, a few hours later. You place your bags on your dinning room table.
"Hello, my sunshine." He said, suddenly creeping up from behind you, and holding you tightly. His head rested on your shoulder. His hands on your stomach. "How was it?" "We went to the mall, I got some things for you, some things for me, Shaun and I went to that new restaurant down by the hub." He pulled you in closer, you could feel his ragged breathing down your neck. Sending slight chills. "Forget about Shaun." "Huh?" He pushed you against the table, lifting your legs up and picking you up to set you down on said table. He leaned in, his face slightly flushed. He put a hand to your face, glaring into your soul. His voice slightly trembled, the way he looked at you with those chocolate colored eyes of his, could turn anyone into some fondue. He kissed your neck gently, biting you, licking you, really anything he could to mark you, so that the next time Shaun rolled around, he could get the hint. He grabbed you by the legs, gently swiping off your pants and throwing them on the couch, as well as with his own. "Jack..~" You moaned softly, your hand in his blue colored hair. Without saying anything, he swiftly shoved his cock inside of you, holding you by your thighs, and recklessly fucked you. Once he found his rhythm, he was singing in and off key. He didn't stop or slow down for nothing. A hand flew to your mouth to cover up your sounds, but he wasn't having any of it. He grabbed your wrist, leaning into your face once more. "I want your neighbors to know all the details on how you feel on the inside, by the time we're done." Shit, if something's wrong with Sunny Day Jack, then something's wrong with you. (And me.) He glared into your soul, as he rearranged your inside. Your back arched, your neck flew back, your moans in psych with Jack's thrusts. You wrapped your arms around his shoulders, longing for some sort of leverage to lean on. As he continued you heard your phone ringing. Jack picks it up before you even have the chance to notice, and answers. He give the phone to you and whispers: "Answer, sunbeam~ It's for you." You grab the phone as you try to contain yourself. You read the caller ID. It's your boss. (Manager, whatever. He's in charge of where you work.) "H-Hello? Did you need something?" You could barely manage that sentence without exclaiming your vocal cords out. How could you have a full blown conversation? As your boss is talking, you occasionally do the typical: "Hm. Yeah. Hmmm, Okay." Jack is not slowing down that's for sure. He made that damn clear. He continued to roughly thrust into you, fuck being gentle. "O-Okay, Can I, Hmmm~ Call you back?" You hang up, yeah you're not calling him back. Jack smirks and leans into you once more. His mouth pressed to your ear. "You're mine, sunshine. And only mine." He said in a growl, biting the tips of your ear. "You're doing so w-well, it'll only be a little longer~"
Well, you're fucked! :D

Blankets
25 Days of Ficmas
Relationship: Will Graham x Reader
Fandom: NBC Hannibal
Request: No
Warnings: Fluff
Word Count: 971
Masterlist: Here
Summary: Snow in Virginia means cold. Cold means a need for warmth. Warmth means cuddles. Preferably with a human but dogs are a nice addition.
Tumblr media
It’s no secret that Virginia can get extremely cold in the winter. Snow littering the ground, ice hanging off the gutters; it gets cold here. Which mean that if you don’t invest in quality warmth generating products, you’re going to have a bad time. At least that was what she believed. Will, on the other hand, simply took what he could get. That included blankets. She knew that when they started dating that he had been living the bachelor lifestyle for a while, but she never imagined to the extent that he own two or so blankets. Neither one thick enough for Virginian winters.
Snow was starting to fall on the ground, but she had a mission. The nearest Amazon drop box was thirty miles away from Wolf Trap. But it would be worth it to her. Her package had already been delivered to the location, she just needed to get it and get home before Will beat her to it. The late night at the school meant that, hopefully, she had plenty of time to grab the package, and be home to make dinner in time. Finally, she reached the amazon locations the nearby mall, and eagerly picked up her package. Now, to get home. The snow was starting to come down heavier as she drove on, but nothing that she wasn’t used to.
Their dogs barked loudly once they heard her car pull into the driveway. She didn’t see Will’s car yet, so she could finally lay her plan into motion. As soon as she got to the door, the dogs rushed around her and ran around their front yard. She left the door open for a few minutes so the dogs could come in and out. Tearing open the package, she draped the blankets over the bed. Hopefully Will would like them.
She got started on dinner for her and her partner while she pulled some treats out of the fridge for the dogs. The door had since been closed, and warmth was starting to seep back into the whole house. She worked all around the stove, making soup to ward off any and all chill that was in the house still. It wasn’t long before she heard the dogs start barking yet again, while she was finishing up the soup. The woman raced to the front door, turned on the porch light, and threw it open wide. For the second time that night, the dogs raced all around outside to greet the other human of the house.
Will kneeled down and welcomed them with open arms. They jumped around and licked his face in excitement. His wide smile was worth her beating him home that evening. The man made his way up to the front door and opened his arms for his lover to fall into. He pressed a gentle kiss onto her head as she enveloped herself in his embrace. A timer suddenly went off, and she bolted from the man to the stove once more. Will went to wrangle the dogs into the house once more, and came inside to see two steaming bowls of soup with bread on the table.
He noticed she seemed unusually happy, but didn’t call attention to it just yet. They simply enjoyed their dinner tonight. Outside, the snow danced. Winds howled like a rabid beast. But it didn’t matter inside of the house. Inside, it was warm, and filled with light. Eventually the couple made their way to their bedroom to retire for the evening. That’s when Will saw the new adornments on the bed.
“Honey… what are those?” He questioned, looking at the colorful blankets that had suddenly appeared on his bed.
“Oh… um- well. Those are our new blankets. I figured we could use some more fluffy blankets cause we were kind of lacking in that area.” His lover explained sheepishly.
“We have dogs and blankets already. Why do we need these?” He was still confused as he got into bed.
“Because Will. You can’t get through a winter here with snow without them. Please baby, just give them a try.” She begged of her partner. Happily she joined their dogs on the bed, while Will still looked apprehensive. He stared at the blankets, not sure as to what he was suppose to do. But his girlfriend grabbed his hand and pulled him into the warm bed. As he slipped under the covers, pulled the fluffy blankets on top of them, and grabbed his lover in his arms, he understood.
Warmth filled his body, and it was so comforting. The dogs by his feet, his lover in his arms, and to top it off, the fluffy blanket saved all that warmth close to their bodies. It was the perfect scene. Snow flurries outside, wind rages, and his heart was full. Will couldn’t imagine being anywhere else on a cold winter’s night. He’s really glad that his lover decided to get those fuzzy blankets. He pressed a kiss to her head right as he was drifting off to sleep.
“Thank you baby. I love the blankets. And it seems like Winston does to.” She let a sleepy, quiet chuckle at his words and pressed a kiss to his chest above his shirt.
“You’re welcome honey. I’m glad Win loves it as much as you.” The dog rustled around a little bit as his name was mentioned but sat down and the family, including pack and all, settled down for a nice warm winters rest.

9. Could you be roommates with this character?
14. Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character. (Or just give thoughts about what he wears and stuff)
20. Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
For Daniel 🥰
Could you be roommates with this character?
I mean in terms of vibes? Yes, absolutely, I think after the chaos of living with Armand during DM I think Daniel would be a fairly tolerant guy who just wants to chill when he's home.
In terms of like, actual living space stuff? Fuck no, we both craft, that place would be a hoarder house with craft supplies scattered everywhere and we'd both lose our minds trying to find stuff. Also we have similar vices and would enable each other too much, this a set up for disaster lol
Assign a fashion aesthetic to this character. (Or just give thoughts about what he wears and stuff)
Gosh Daniel is one of those 'there are two wolves inside you' kinds of guys where on one hand I see him dressing for comfort- very much corduroys, jeans, t-shirts (the tight 70s kind), maybe a shearling jacket or a leather jacket. He spent a lot of time running from Armand, and then a lot of time traveling with Armand, and so he'd have stuff he could just grab and go and be at ease in. And those are fairly unassuming clothes, right? Stuff that makes him look approachable and able to enter most spaces so he could find a stranger to interview.
But also!! He admits himself in DM that he loved the luxury Armand brought into his life with the tailored suits, the mink lined raincoats, all the fine custom made clothes. On his best days at Night Island I see him in some real nice linen suits, shirt partly unbuttoned 80's style. Perfectly fitted, stupid expensive, and maybe it was picked by Armand but he had say in colors and style.
So ultimately post-canon I picture him as a merger of the two: someone you see out and don't think much about what he's wearing, it's just jeans and a sweater, but it's made of nice materials and fits him well. Some vintage, some custom, but nothing ostentatious, and with an 80's edge to it. Because he's still a vampire, and they all tend to harken back to the style of the time they were turned in.
Which other character is the ideal best friend for this character, the amount of screentime they share doesn't matter?
Khayman, man!! A fellow weirdo, Daniel's favorite flavor of freak who doesn't know how to behave around mortals but has good intentions!! They'd get up to some shit together but not like, the level of shit Lestat would get Daniel into- small time chaos and not cataclysmic trouble that ends in Bad Times. I need more Buddy Comedy fic of them exploring the mall on Night Island together and I need it now.

4 Town x Reader Dating Headcanons
Now that you know how 4 Town are with crushes, let's find out what it's like dating your bias. I tried to make this as gender neutral as possible, but I've headcanoned my sexualities for them in my first post.
Send in requests if you have any!
Robaire
Tumblr media
Robaire is Mr Smooth, we know this, so when in a relationship with him, you can expect all kinds of lavish gifts and romantic gestures. Not that he thinks you're like that, it’s just his way of showing love.
He’ll speak to you in French a lot, just because that little blush that comes to your cheeks when he does this is so cute to him. If you speak another language, though, then just give him a dose of his own medicine. He’ll be too flustered to do anything.
His love languages are words of affirmation and acts of service. Of course, this is because of all his French fanciness, but the responsible side of him really caters to doing stuff for you. Literally anything. Chores around the house especially. If you’re shy or avoidant of conflict, he’ll step in for you and give whoever needs it a talking to. Problems solved.
He’s pretty chill about PDA, so it’s really up to you how affectionate you guys are. He’ll usually have an arm slung over your shoulders or waist, and will give little pecks to your knuckles no matter where you are.
Now, the ‘L’ word. I feel like Robaire would say it first, and pretty early on. He worried that you’d be freaked out, but he’s very in touch with his feelings and quickly knew that that new, fuzzy feeling in his chest was love. It HAD to be. He took you out to a nice dinner and after an hour or sweaty palms and poorer-than-usual eye contact, he shakily told you he loved you.
He calls you ‘mon amour’, ‘love’, and ‘darling’.
Jesse
Tumblr media
I headcanon Jesse as being pretty experienced with short-term relationships, but not anything super serious. Being a teenage dad changed that, so his relationship with you is full of learning curves. He loves it, though, because you’re worth the effort.
Because he has kids, you two make the most of every moment together. He’s not so into flashy dates like Robaire, but makes the most of the small moments. Whether it’s you touching up his roots or him teaching you the basics of pottery, he cherishes his time with you. Things like this make up the fabric of your relationship.
Love-language-wise, Jesse’s main ones are quality time and acts of service. This is pretty much for reasons already mentioned, but his time is valuable and so giving it to you is the ultimate form of affection. He’s also pretty responsible, like Robaire, and will do anything to make you feel secure, hence acts of service.
He’s not huge on PDA, mainly because his kids are around him a lot. He also worries about the press invading your privacy, so he tends to reserve physical affection for behind closed doors. If you’re insistent on giving him a few kisses or cuddles around the guys, though, he’ll obviously oblige.
Jesse was wary to tell you he loves you, initially. Not because he doubted it, but because he didn’t want to scare you off. He comes as a package deal, and wanted to be sure that you’re ready for that before declaring his love. Once he did though, you both became the strongest couple that the other 4 Town guys had ever laid eyes on.
Expect to be called ‘sweetheart’, ‘babe’ and ‘honey’.
Aaron T
Tumblr media
Oh man, be prepared for wild ride with a relationship with this guy. Jokes, pranks and general silliness are a given, but he naturally calms down a bit with you. He will wholeheartedly devote everything to you, no questions asked. Expect constant compliments, bone-crushing cuddles and a newfound, fun outlook on life with T.
Spontaneity is a word that pretty much describes T’s whole brand. He never really plans dates, but suggests ideas off the cuff as they occur to him. And he’s super willing to do any activities that you want, too! His favourites include beach days, theme parks and shopping at the mall.
T’s love languages are physical touch and words of affirmation. No doubt about it. He’s a clingy guy and is re-energised by your touch, so his hands will be holding yours, playing with your hair or squishing your waist all the time. And we know that T has no verbal filter, so it makes sense that this is another way that he shows love.
“Babyyyy, I WUV YOUUU!”, “Hold it, lemme take a pic. This light makes you look like an angel, for real…”, “Y’know I’ll love you when we’re old, right?! Like when you’re hair’s all grey and your skin looks like an old leather purse and you can’t go to the bathr- hey, HEY! OKAY I’LL STOP!”.
T’s also big on nicknames, so expect him to call you pretty much every other than your real name.
T has absolutely no problems with PDA, he’s a shameless simp for you. Unless you’re dead against it, he will always be giving you smooches and cuddles. The other guys get kinda annoyed about it at times, but seeing their friend happy makes them happy.
You were actually the first one to say the ‘L’ word. Not that T wasn’t feeling it, he was just too dense to realise that he loved you. You told him spontaneously during an ice cream date. He had just collected the cones from the little stand by the beach, then proceeded to trip over his own feet and drop the cones on the ground. In a fit of giggles, you told him you loved him, and he was too stunned to speak. Of course, he reciprocated, though!
As mentioned, nicknames are unavoidable with T, and you’ll have many, ranging from ‘baby’ to ‘jelly bean’. I don’t make the rules.
Aaron Z
Tumblr media
So, we’ve already cleared up that Z is pretty inexperienced relationship-wise, so you’ll probably have to initiate quite a lot of things. You suggested your first date, leaned in for your first kiss, and instigated pretty much everything else. It’s not that Z doesn’t want to, he just worries about coming on too strong. He’s an intimidating guy to some, so he appreciates you showing him that you’re okay with him.
His affection towards you is a quiet, gentle sort. He’s your rock, truly, and a chill one at that. He appreciates you taking the lead, as we’ve said, and will go along with any dates that you want to do. His favourites usually include snuggling up on the couch with you, though. And yes, in his eyes, that does count as a date. He’s not big on social scenes, and loves having you to himself.
His love languages are for sure physical touch and acts of service. So much of Z’s love is nonverbal, and he shows everything through actions. He’s also very protective, and will do anything to keep you safe. This includes holding you close to him when you’re out and about, reaching up for things on the top shelf so that you don’t stand on a chair and potentially fall, and all sorts of other stuff.
Unsurprisingly, he’s not into PDA at all. People often mistake you for being friends if they don’t know that you’re an item. Z’s a private person, and, in his eyes, a lack of PDA just makes your snuggles and kisses that much more special when you’re alone.
As is the case with T, Z was kinda unsure whether that feeling in his chest was love or not. Because he wasn’t absolutely certain, he kept waiting and waiting until he said anything. You beat him to it, though, blurting it out randomly while you were whispering to each other before going to sleep. His face went unbelievably hot, which was thankfully concealed in the dark, and his heart was hammering in his chest. In a heartbeat, though, he told you he loved you, too.
Although words of affirmation aren’t Z’s main love language, he finds nicknames cute. The main ones he gravitates towards are ‘princess/prince’, ‘cutie’, and ‘sweetie’.
Tae Young
Tumblr media
Being in a relationship with Tae is sweeter thank drinking kool aid through a red vine (Big Bang Theory fans, I see you.) It’s like stepping into a different world where everything is soft and cute and happy. Only Tae can make you feel that way, and you do the same for him.
Dates with Tae usually end up at the zoo, even if you stopped off some place else originally. It’s just such a fun day out, and chances are that if you’re with Tae, you like animals too. If you decide to switch things up, though, expect to be taken around local bakeries and sweet shops. Tae is a real foodie, and you both have so much fun taste testing different snacks and rating them.
Tae’s love languages are physical touch and gift-giving. He loves surprising you with little trinkets or things that you’ve had your eye on for a while. And while he’s kinda shy at times, he’s just as clingy as T and loves feeling connected to you physically.
Now, with PDA, Tae probably won’t initiate it. At least not consciously. He usually has his fingers entwined with yours when out in public, but it won’t go much further than that. If you want kisses from him when you’re out and about, you’ll have to either give him one or just straight up tell him.
Tae knew that he loved you for quite a while before telling you. He just never knew how to word it. Turns out, he didn’t really need to plan anything as he randomly blurted it out. You had been apart for a couple of days, and when you reunited, he said it without even thinking. Initially he was mortified, but one kiss and an ‘I love you too’ from you was all he needed to gain his confidence back.
His favourite nicknames include 'dove', 'love' and 'darling'.

✨ Baki OCs x Reader Scenarios ✨
Yeah, I want to post it >:3
I'm not sure if I'll write for Baki, Hanayama and other characters but who knows? Maybe someday🤔
I'm new to all this writing stuff so I hope it seems fine? ;:D
.
.
.
HOW YOU MET
Namiko
- Probably in a mall;
- You were whispering to yourself deciding which shirt fits you more;
- You didn't notice her at first (F to your poor soul 😔🖐🏽);
- "Mmm, this one is better";
- "Ehh, did I scare you?";
- Will talk to you about colour theory and tell you which colour and style is gonna suit you;
- "I like your nail polish. What's the name? No, I mean your name, silly ;)"
- Will ask you what you think about her current outfit (she really enjoys attention ;-;)
- "Maybe we can hang out sometimes. Would you like to give me your number?"
- She's not a person to fall in love from the first sight, so you're lucky(?) that you seemed nice and cool to her 😬.
Raizo
- Was chilling on a bench in an amusement park waiting for his daughter;
- You were just walking all alone, enjoying autumn after a hard day, when a kid spilled hot tea on your leg;
- "Goodness! For God's sake this kid! Hey!";
- The man was too loud. Even you who were in pain wasn't screaming that much 😭
- He sat you on a bench and asked the kid to stay there with you when he'll go and buy some cold water;
- "Oh, wait, the kid is mine..."
- Dozens of sorries were heard that day :')
- He offered you money to apologize but you refused(?);
- "Uh, oh, wow.. So how can I... Oh, I know! How about a free dinner? Whenever and wherever you want, you are to choose! Uh, here's my number, so tell me when you want to meet! Again, sorry..";
- Then you walked away with a bottle on your leg and when you were already far away Raizo finally got a chance to skold his daughter (F to Namiko).
Riamu
- Let's say you found him after a fight;
- Man was covered in scratches, bruises, had a couple of fractures. Classic;
- U approached him and decided to take care of him in your place;
- No, you didn't drag him all the way up to your house 😭;
- He still was kind of conscious and you weren't that far away from home;
- After setting him down on your couch you started taking care of his injuries;
- On the other day you woke him up and insisted going to the hospital;
- He was silent but after a couple of minutes nodded in agreement;
- 🏥🚑;
- You visited him from time to time;
- "Why this person is still here? Do they want something from me?";
- Tolerated you for as long as he could but gave up and finally softened;
- Was actually happy to see you (admits it but prefers not to show it);
- Remembered your address so there's no need to search for you;
- Planned to apologize, after the recovery, for problems he may've caused and to thank you for your care.

hello! i don't know how to work this app but i posted my story 'outcast' on wattpad and i wanted to put it here!
OUTCAST: chapter one
story masterlist
Tumblr media
i do not own this gif
"DUSTIN PLEASE hurry up, i am gonna be late for my first day and that doesn't look good. especially when i look like this." i gestured to myself. i was donning a few bold piercings and covered in head to toe black. he didn't answer, so i sighed and walked out of the house, slamming the door behind me. i jingled the keys to my car in my hand, leaning against the drivers side for a moment. the nerves settled in. my first day at a new job. this wasn't my first job, but it was my first job out of high school. it scared me to be an adult, but i knew steve worked there, and he was pretty cool. dustin looked up to him and trusted him, which was all i needed to know to be convinced that steve was a good guy.
soon, dustin came bustling out of the house apologizing profusely. i waved his apologies off and drove him to hawkins high. i certainly did not miss my days in high school, when my only friends were jonathan byers, chrissy cunningham, and eddie munson. well, eddie was more than a friend back in school, but that isn't something that i liked to talk about, or even think about most of the time. a lot of things happened to me in high school that no one really knew about. going to therapy occasionally helped.
but sometimes therapy made me more stressed than not getting help at all.
everything got worse once jonathan moved to california. we talked on the phone occasionally but it wasn't the same as having my friend by my side. so i turned to chrissy, but that didn't turn out good for me either.
it also didn't help that everyone was hiding something. i knew that dustin had been through a lot of stuff. like the mall fire. ever since his friend will's disappearance a few years ago, dustin had been secretive. it didn't take jonathan long to become secretive as well, and no one told me anything. i felt more out of the loop than ever, with everyone i knew hiding something.
but i never asked about it. i figured that maybe it was good that i wasn't involved. surely dustin would've told me about whatever is going on in his life if it was serious, right? he used to tell me everything when we were younger, but as soon as dustin entered high school, he became more involved with everyone else rather than me. i was so happy that my brother was making friends and getting involved in school, but i knew who he was getting involved with, and that scared me a little. eddie munson, my ex boyfriend who knew every little detail about me until i had to break it off.
at that point, i was friendless and alone. but maybe i'd make friends at the video store. dustin said steve and robin were chill, so maybe i had a chance.
the door to my new job rang as i walked in, making steve harrington snap his head up from what he was doing. i smiled at him slightly, hoping everything wouldn't be too terribly awkward.
"henderson?" he asked, cocking his head to the side.
"yeah." i nodded, headed behind the counter, slinging my work vest over my outfit. he nodded back awkwardly.
"so... you're supposed to tell me what to do, i guess." i pushed, trying to get him to talk to me or something. i had no idea what i was supposed to do, just a general idea of how the store worked and where everything was, because i had shopped there often.
"oh shit, yeah. i'll show you how we stock." steve huffed, probably internally facepalming. i empathized, feeling the awkwardness in between us like a thick fog.
by the end of my shift, steve and i were chatting like old friends. since he was so close to dustin, there was a subject in common between us. steve was nice and funny, a little flirtatious, but i brushed him off. a guy who peaked in his senior year through basketball with too big hair wasn't my type at all. but i had a good day, nonetheless, joking about my brother and starting conversations about various other things, such as plans for the future, since steve and i both weren't going to college.
it didn't take long for my shift to be over. i was grateful to be done with my day. i knew dustin had hellfire after school, so i went home, happy to have peace and quiet.
the next day was not quiet at all.
dustin had woken me up, shaking me vigorously. the news was on about a murder in hawkins, an actual murder, and our mom was in tears.
"i can't do this anymore." our mom sniffled. despite my grumpiness of being woken up too early for my liking, i comforted mom while dustin answered the door after the bell rang. it was his friend max, looking as terrified as our mother. dustin silently led max to his room and shut the door, earning a confused shout from me. another secret.
"it's okay, mom. just... turn the channel. it's okay." she turned something else on as i waited for dustin to come back out.
in a matter of a few moments, dustin and max exited the room, eyes locked on me.
"marnie... we need to talk to you." dustin said, jerking his head towards the front door.
"bring your keys." max added. i hesitantly got up and followed them outside, keys in hand. i was uncomfortable and a little nervous. the morning had been overwhelming and i was a little shaken up.
"dusty, marnie, where are you going?" mom yelled, but we were already halfway out the door.
"to see a friend." dustin said simply.
"you heard the news, it's not safe!" mom pleaded. i rolled my eyes.
"good point, we'll be extra careful!" i said, hopping off the porch.
"thanks mom, bye!" dustin slammed the door behind us. the two younger kids led me to the car and begged me to start it. i was even more confused then.
"okay, i'm not driving you to my job until you tell me what's going on." i demanded, crossing my arms and eyeing the two in the car with me. i couldn't have even guessed what i was about to hear next.
"chrissy cunningham is dead." max said bluntly. my jaw dropped for a moment, then i scoffed. what kind of fucked up prank was this, i thought, to tell me that my friend had died?
"you guys are fucking hilarious. now what's really going on?" i shook my head, looking between the two. when the silence lengthened, my eyes welled with tears. chrissy had been my best friend. albeit, a year younger than me. until my life went downhill in senior year, we were as close as two best friends could be. everything was amazing. i was barely home because i spent all my free time with chrissy. but it all changed when i started dating eddie munson, driving a wedge between chrissy and i. chrissy being a cheerleader and eddie being a 'freak' caused a rift in my life. it came to a point where i had to choose between the two, and i ultimately chose chrissy, someone i had known for many years and trusted. but when chrissy started dating jason carver, he made her cut me out of her life, leaving me with no one. alone, because jonathan had started... hooking up with nancy wheeler.
"chrissy is dead, marnie. i'm sorry." dustin said, almost whispering.
"and... they think eddie munson killed her." max added on to my mental breakdown, tears streaming down my face, my cheeks pink and hot from crying. my old best friend was dead and my ex-boyfriend was wanted for murder. how could this be happening? my head spun, and i felt a little dizzy. maybe nauseous.
"eddie... he wouldn't do that. even if chrissy caused problems between him and i, he wouldnt. he's not that kind of person. he wouldn't hurt a fucking fly." i wiped the tears from my face, sniffling and white knuckling the steering wheel.
"if we're gonna need her help, we need to tell her everything." max looked at dustin from the backseat. dustin hesitated. i was so confused. tell me what? my eyebrows furrowed together as my brother started talking.
"uh, okay. so it all started a few years ago, when will disappeared..." dustin told me literally everything. about a different dimension, monsters, and what really happened at the mall the year before. i was taking all this information in at once and felt incredibly overwhelmed from it. how was i supposed to believe in a world where monsters really existed? but at the same time, why would they lie? especially when they claimed everyone knew, including jonathan. and steve, and my coworker robin, along with all of dustin's friends and will's mom. even jim hopper, the chief of police, who apparently died because russians tried to reopen a gate to this upside down thing, not from the mall fire. and now max thinks a monster could be out, even when the gate had been closed. max wasn't 100% sure, but she said we couldn't throw that idea out the window.
"so you're telling me that monsters and other dimensions exist, and everyone i fucking know, knows about it? and has almost died from it? also my ex best friend is dead, and my ex boyfriend is considered a suspect for her murder?" i sat, bewildered, thoughts running through my head at a million miles per minute. my face was still warm from crying, cheeks still stained with tears.
"yes. and i am so sorry we all kept this from you, but it was for your safety, marn. but when we heard the news, we knew we had to tell you." dustin apologized. i just internalized it all and put the car in drive. i didn't know what the kids needed to do, but i knew i needed a distraction from it all. without a word, i slammed on the gas and sped to the video store.
we stormed inside as soon as we arrived.
"hey, steve!" dustin greeted. "how many phones do you have?"
"do you see this?" steve replied, ignoring dustin. "someone was murdered."
steve caught a glance of my red face and his attention focused on us.
"how many phones do you have?" i pushed, my eyes widening. steve's face immediately softened at my appearance. i was shaking, brain on autopilot after being piled with life changing information.
"two, why?"
"technically, three, if you count keith's in the back." robin, another friend of dustin's, added.
"yeah, three works." said max.
dustin then slung his bag over the counter, then went over after it. robin and steve yelled at him, but it was no use. dustin is dustin. he sat himself at the computer without hesitation and began furiously typing.
"what are you doing, man?" steve shouted.
"seriously, dustin. if i knew you were gonna get me fired after one day, i would've stayed home and made you guys bike here." i snapped, smacking him upside the head. dustin swatted back at me but ignored what i said as i stood behind him, watching over his shoulder in fascination.
"i'm setting up base of operations here." dustin said.
"base of operations?" robin said, steve hovered over the boys other shoulder.
"get off of it." steve demanded, but dustin was alarmingly persistent. i just stared over my brothers shoulder in disbelief. it was hard to think in the moment. everything had happened so quickly in the course of half a day that my brain was nearly fried.
"i'm looking up eddie's friends phone numbers." my ears suddenly perked up.
"what?" i asked, but steve intervened.
"your new best friend you think is cooler than me because he plays your nerdy game?" i found it in myself to chuckle. steve and dustin had always bickered like an elderly married couple. but robin was having enough of their shit.
"seriously, you guys, maybe on a monday you can play around but it's saturday. it's our busiest day."
"look robin, i empathize, but this cannot wait til monday." dustin insisted, eyes still glued to the screen.
"if you get me fired, you're dead." i whispered to my brother, who paid me no mind once again.
"oh, so calling eddie's friends is an emergency?"
"correct!"
"want me to strangle him or you?" steve asked me, giving me a glance behind dustin's head.
"we could take turns!" i smiled, trying to joke around, but dustin pulled on my wrist.
"can you and max just fill them in while i do this?" he pleaded.
"fill us in on what?" robin sighed. max and i looked at each other for a moment before explaining what had happend. after robin and steve demanded knowing who told me everything, they began calling eddie's friends. i listened in on the conversations before the name reefer rick popped up, piquing my interest. that was eddie's weed dealer. even though i hadn't met the guy, i knew enough about him. as soon as max hung up, i approached her with a mouth full of somewhat good news.
"i know him, reefer rick. eddie bought from him. guys! i think we can find eddie. he crashes there sometimes, from what i remember." i turned to everyone, finally happy that i could help out.
"seriously? why didn't you say something before? this shit could've been avoided." dustin groaned, facepalming.
"i didn't think about it, idiot. i was too busy crying over my dead best friend and taking in all the crazy fucking information you gave me." i bit back, making my brother shut up for a second.
"uh.. that sounds promising," robin said awkwardly, ignoring the sibling fight. "where does this reefer rick live?"
"i don't know. eddie never took me with him, i just waited at his trailer." i admitted, remembering all the times he'd come back, a shit eating grin on his face and a baggie full of weed. i smoked with him most of the time, the weed tended to make our feelings more intense.
"that's the thing. no one knows. he's more of a legend than someone that people actually know." max explained.
"what about a last name?" dustin asked the two. i shrugged. for a moment i thought that this was ridiculous, looking for someone that was wanted for murder. everything felt crazy and too fast, and if they were to find him, what would i even say? we hadn't spoken or seen each other in months. the thought of seeing him again made me nervous. i missed him. back then, once chrissy left me for jason, i considered going back to eddie, but it scared me. what would he have said? i believed he would've pushed me away after knowing i left him, the sweetest man i'd ever met, for a shitty best friend. i began to fidget with the many bracelets on my wrist while listening in.
"i don't know that either." max sighed.
"bet the cops know the last name." steve chimed in.
"what?" max asked.
"the cops. i mean, listen, if this reefer rick is actually a drug dealer, i guarantee you he's been busted at some point. means he's in the system."
"the cops?" i scoffed, looking up from my jewelry and right at her coworker.
"yeah, really steve? that's your suggestion?" dustin finished for marnie.
"god, i can't deal with two hendersons." steve whined. "what i mean is, i just think they should be filled in on what we know, what's going on."
"what? you think eddie actually did this?" i stepped forward, ready to defend him. just because i broke up with him, doesn't mean i didn't care about him. i would fight for him no matter what, even when steve harrington was being unrealistic.
"whoa. since when are you on the eddie train? i believe innocent until proven guilty and all that constitutional shit. i just, ya know, don't think we can rule it out." even max was taken back by what steve was suggesting. i was about to blow a fuse. so was dustin, but he could hide it. steam was basically coming out of my ears.
"thats precisely what we're trying to do here steve. prove his innocence. " max countered.
"and maybe we'd have a little bit more luck if you spent less time trying to find a girlfriend and more time trying to find eddie." this made me outright laugh. my brother didn't have a filter and i loved him for it. dustin had a point. steve had spent his time flirting with the customers instead of inserting himself into the conversation.
"oh well somebody has to tend to the customers." steve tried to defend himself, throwing his hands up in the air. i looked around. no one was inside. just us.
"especially if they're babes, right?" robin said, teasing.
"hey, that's not fair. okay? i tend to all the customers equally. babes and non-babes alike. we've got a very big selection in here,
it can be super overwhelming for people."
"yeah, it can be." robin whipped around, like a light switch had been flipped in her head. she sat, taking dustin's spot at the computer.
"what are you doing?" i asked, stepping forward to read over her shoulder.
"maybe we don't need a last name." robin offered, typing on the keyboard. i was kind of astonished by these kids minds. watching robin type in accounts at the store like it was the obvious idea. it was like working with a group of detectives or something. they could piece shit together and make it look easy. i felt a little like an odd one out, as i wasn't used to... saving people's lives and all that. so i just listened.
"12 rick's already have accounts here."
"that's a lot of ricks." i commented, running my eyes down the list of people on the screen.
"right, so let's narrow it down." robin said, once again tapping at the keyboard.
"rick alderman's rentals are annie and dumbo. what are the chances our drug dealer has a family?"
"not likely." max shook her head.
"look for cheech and chong." i chuckled, having a laugh to myself, but robin took it seriously.
"good idea! alright. rick conroy... sixteen candles, teen wolf, and romancing the stone." everyone agreed that conroy was not the one either.
"okay then. rick joyner... mask, footloose, and grease." yeah, no.
"rick kimbrough. the blue lagoon and splash." absolutely not.
"rick lipton! fast times at ridgemont high, cheech and chong's next movie, cheech and chongs mice dreams, cheech and chongs up in smoke." they all looked to me with a smile.
"bingo." i smiled, once again happy to help.
"lipton?" max asked.
"spelled like the tea. twenty-one holland road." robin read the address off. it clicked in my head and suddenly i felt stupid.
"he did take me there sometimes! we'd spend the night in his van..." i trailed off. a lot of those nights were too explicit for my young brother to hear.
"first of all, marnie, gross. that's lovers lake." dustin interrupted.
"shut up, dustin."
"middle of nowhere. perfect place to hide." robin said with a smile.
we all quickly left the store, rushing into steve's car, which fit all of us. and so, we were all off to find eddie munson, hawkins suspected murderer.

Okay so overdue photo dump/long post of when I was in Vegas earlier this year to hang out with Sushi and Poo!
I stayed there for two weeks! The first week it was mostly me and hun checking out the area bc we’re actually planning to move there sometime next year! I had to make sure the restaurant was good, see how the food markets were like, how comfortable the movie theater seats were like, what the traffic was like. We watched the show, Ka, I think-- that shit was SOOO GOOD. Uh what else, hun and I went to the casino and put in $20′s and came out with 1cent. It was really chill and we ate good food. The second week, I spent at Sushi’s place and had such a fun time spending it w Sushi and Poo. It was so chill, we watched Euphoria, talked about our OCs, went to the mall, Omega Mart, the Strip, ate good food, drank Soju and got drunk, got Dutch Bros like... almost every day LOL
The first night I was there at Sushi’s place, she gave me an edible and it was the first time I felt it-- It took like an hour for it to finally kick in, and when it kicked in, it felt SO WEIRD. I felt like I wasn’t making ANY SENSE, and it was as if I was talking so slow, but Sushi was talking a mile a minute LMFAO. When she left to go to sleep, I was staring at this one Nier print on her wall and it began taking the form of one of Van Gogh’s portrait, and his face was just glaring at me while I was laying down... I just closed my eyes at that point. When Poo finally came to Vegas, that was when I presented a powerpoint to the both of them, determining which of my OCs would end up with Sushi’s OC, Goro... and so that’s when the insanity of JoRo began LOL. NOT ONLY THAT BUT THE WEEK BEFORE I WENT TO SUSHI’S HOUSE, I WAS WORKING ON A LONG ASS FIC FOR SUSHI AND POO TO READ-- It ended up being over 100 pages?? BYE!! SO LONG!!
We went to the mall and all of us ended up buying some clothes and we ate some good ass strawberry cheesecake bingsoo. Then another day we went to the trip and walked there for like five hours and we got drinks at the Taco Bell and ate white castle-- which I have never had before! Then the days I did enjoy the most was just chilling at Sushi’s place to rest and all we did was watch a bunch of stuff, talked, drank, cried together, and Poo made their homemade beet peasant soup which was actually... really good LMAOOO, then the next day Poo had a mega hangover so we stayed home again LOOOL, then last full day we went to Omega Mart! It was so trippy, but super fun, especially when you’re walking around drunk. Also ate this good ass Korean pizza... had corn on it and I think sweet potato... I crave to taste it again.
Anyway I remember watching a bunch of movies, but I specifically remember watching American Psycho for the first time, BUT I KEPT FALLING ASLEEP-- I would wake up in intervals and watch a bit, and see the shit that Patrick Bateman or whatever-- was up to in the movie and say “This guy’s so lame.” AND DOZE OFF AGAIN LMFAO. Also remember where Poo and I were talking and it was LATE AF, just chilling in Sushi’s personal room... and Poo was like “I gotta fart,” and barely anything came out and I was like “I gotta fart too.” And just let a big one rip... twice LMFAOO. Seeing Sushi’s collection in person was SOO crazy... literally eye candy wherever you look in her room, so nice to see in person. Like a mini library and gallery in there! Also MET PEPPER AND OLIVE!!! WHAT BABIES!! Pepper is so funny too... her scragly ass meowing was so cute. She was tinier than I thought too.
But it was so fun, I had a great ass time in Vegas so I very much look forward to moving there in the near future to hang out w Sushi and just be closer to friends in general. I’m so thankful that she was kind enough to let Poo and I stay at her place and drove us everywhere and made sure we were fed and had so much stuff to do!

Omg hi so I read your babysitter fic and I was thinking what if bakuogus tired of reader being a brat with him so he brings Kiri over to help him out 🤤 srry im just being horny on anon rn
Tumblr media
“C’mon princess, move your ass before I move it for you.”
You huffed at the blonde, opening the car door, stepping outside and slamming it shut. Bakugou shot you a harsh glare, but you weren’t looking at him, instead crouching to tie your shoe.
He gave you a moment to do that, before the man got impatient, clicking his tongue, shoving his hands in his pockets. “Let’s go, it’s not like I have all fucking day.”
You knew for a fact that yes, he did have all day.
Your mom was away again, another business trip. She was working towards a promotion - a position that meant more hours, more work, more travel.
More time being spent with your stupid babysitter.
With your rapist.
He hadn’t touched you, not outright, since that day. Every time your mom suggested having him over for dinner, you conveniently found somewhere to be; out with friends, on a date, having a sleepover. Anything so that you didn’t have to look at Bakugou Katsuki’s stupid, smug little face.
But your mom had surprised you yesterday night, letting you know she’d be leaving in the morning, that Katsuki would be staying over again. There wasn’t any time for you to argue with her, to plead for her to stay, or to take you with her, or for you to stay at a friend’s house, anything but Katsuki.
“If I didn’t know any better, I’d think you were trying to avoid him!” She had laughed, before wagging a finger at you. “Don’t be rude. He’s a nice man, and I trust him to keep you safe. He did last time!”
Yeah, and he also assaulted you last time, so maybe he wasn’t as nice of a guy as she thought.
He was taking you to the mall, not even really giving you a choice, just telling you to get dressed, that the two of you were going out.
Now here you were, trudging silently behind the older man, glaring at the ground.
“Bakubro! Over here!”
A loud shout drew your attention, Bakugou grinning as he started veering towards the shouter, a red-haired man waving enthusiastically. You followed behind him obediently, taking stock of this new man.
He was fucking huge, thick thighs bulging against his jeans, biceps straining against the fabric of his navy hoodie. This new guy was handsome too, a wide, sharp smile, soft red eyes, a clean-shaven face.
“’Sup Idiot? You tryin’ to attract the whole mall? Always so damn loud.” Even though he was complaining, it was clear that these two were friends as Bakugou let the other man pull him into a hug. They pounded each other on the back, before the redhead drew back, pushing past the blonde to give you his full attention.
“Who’s this? Did you get a girlfriend? She looks a little young bro.”
“I’m not his girlfriend.” You spat, and the redhead held up his hands in surrender as Bakugou shouldered him to the side.
“It’s the little fucker that I’m looking after as a favor. You know I work security for that office complex?” The redhead nodded. “Yeah, one of the milfs gave me free range of her house as long as I watch her.”
Both men looked at you, and the redhead smiled brightly.
“Ah, well, I’m Kirishima! Nice to meet you, sorry you have to put up with such a grumpy fucke-”
“Hey, shaddup.” Bakugou elbowed him, but Kirishima was already extending a hand for you to shake, and you did so gladly. At least you weren’t the only one who thought Bakugou was a grumpy, stuck up mess.
“’Kay, now can we go? I’m starving’, wanna eat before we do anything else.”
Kirishima winked at you as he threw an arm around your shoulders, his other arm around Bakugou. “Food court? I think they have a pretty good selection here...”
-----
Kirishima was much more tolerable than Bakugou.
He was funny, cracking jokes and making you almost spit out the soda he had bought you, slipping you five dollars behind Bakugou’s back for you to get a drink.
The redhead sat next to you while the three of you ate, including you in the conversation whenever Bakugou seemed to forget about your existence.
As the three of you walked from store-to-store, Kirishima listened to you ramble on about the latest game you’d bought, what you thought of your favorite snack brand trying to collaborate with a fashion company, all your opinions on the music playing faintly through the mall speakers.
It was fun when he grabbed your hand, tugging you away from Bakugou and along with the redhead as he ducked into a random store. It was some street-wear fashion place, and Kirishima wanted your thoughts on if a shirt was his color, or if he could pull off one of the hats that adorned the mannequin in the store window.
The two of you were busy laughing at how the hat couldn’t even press past his spiky hairstyle when you noticed Bakugou, glowering at you both from the outside of the store, lips pulled into the deepest frown.
Kirishima started laughing at the man’s expression, and you quickly followed suit, before Bakugou stalked inside, cuffing his friend on the ear.
What a spoil sport.
You couldn’t deny that by the end of the few hours you’d spent with Kirishima, you found yourself attracted to him. Not only in looks, but also in his goofy personality. You wouldn’t mind being friends with him.
It was easy to exchange numbers with the man, easy to let him lift your spirits.
And then it was time to leave, all three of you grouped at the entrance, saying bye, Bakugou and Kirishima giving each other another bro-hug.
You gave Kirishima a hug, leaning into his warm touch, enjoying his spicy cologne as you pressed your face against his broad chest. He eagerly returned the hug, until Bakugou was scoffing, pulling you out of his embrace.
“We’re in fucking public, you two, chill. Keep your pants on, sluts.”
Kirishima laughed, giving you a cheery wave as Bakugou gripped your hand until it hurt, dragging you out of the mall quickly.
-----
“Why are you being such a brat? You were fuckin’ fine earlier.” The blonde man grumbled, glancing over at you from where he was making dinner.
You rolled your eyes, taking a sip of your water. “It’s not my fault you have a stick up your ass. All I said is I don’t like when you make food, tastes bad.”
Bakugou huffed, turning off the stove. “Are you fucking serious? You’re just trying to mess with me, aren’t’cha princess?”
“Could you stop calling me that? I’m not your princess.”
“You’re whatever I want you to be, princess.” Bakugou sneered, stomping towards you.
You quickly backpedalled, setting your glass of water down on the counter, stepping back. “I’m going to go set the table!” Was your way out, and Bakugou backed off as you threw open a cupboard, rummaging for plates and cups as he chuckled to himself.
“Yeah, you do that.”
It wasn’t long before the table was set, Bakugou bringing the food to set it down onto the hotplate in the middle.
Even just a whiff of the food had your eyes watering, the spice through the roof.
“Seriously dude? You know you’re cooking for two people, why the fuck did you make it inedible?!?”
The blonde man glared at you as he sat down, jaw working, mouth twisting. “You gonna be a bitch-baby about it? Should be fuckin’ grateful that I even made you dinner.”
“Thanks for dinner.” You mumbled, staring tiredly at the food Bakugou was heaping onto his plate. You didn’t feel like eating anymore, his outburst ruining your mood, reminding you of the time when he got angry because you wouldn’t go to bed, wouldn’t listen to him-
“Eat the damn food.” Katsuki snapped, pulling you out of your thoughts and back to the present.
You did as he asked, even though it burned your mouth. Dinner was quickly gulped down, followed by desperate swigs of water as you tried to chase away the spice. Bakugou huffing the entire time at your inability to handle the level of spice he preferred.
Afterwards, you gathered up the plates and washed them, conscious of Katsuki hovering in the background of the kitchen, watching you work while he tapped away on his phone.
When the last dish was washed, dried, and put away, you began rummaging in the cupboards, looking for something sweet, something to soothe your tastebuds.
“What’re you doin’, didn’t I just feed you?”
Bakugou’s harsh voice made you flinch, but you kept your back to him. “Was hoping there’d be dessert.”
A long, irritated sigh, then a hand gripped your shoulder, pulling you away from the kitchen cupboards. “Ain’t got any of that shit in the house princess, you don’t need it.”
“But-” Your plead was interrupted by Bakugou rolling his eyes, snorting.
“Why are you being such a whiny baby? Is this cause Kiri was spoilin’ you earlier?”
Jutting your chin out, you glared up into red eyes as you turned around seething. “Maybe I like being treated like a person and not a problem. I don’t even understand why he’s friends with you - you’re mean and crass and stup-”
“So you’re just acting out cause you want some extra attention or some shit? What a brat.” The blonde sneered, leaning back against the counter as he tapped away at his phone again.
“You want Kiri so bad, fine. I’ll have him get you some shitty grocery-store dessert. Then maybe you’ll stop acting like a bitch. Stuff some candy in that mouth, will that keep you quiet, huh?”
It was infuriating, being treated like a child. Ignored, talked down to, unable to assert yourself or make decisions.
“Whatever.” You huffed, shaking your head as you walked out of the kitchen. “Anything’s better than having to sit here with you.”
-----
The front door opening and the faint rustle of grocery bags caught your ear as you fumed on the couch, angrily questioning “why me?” as to your situation. But the noise meant your new friend was here, and he was much nicer than Bakugou.
Nice enough to have you smiling a bit as you rose to your feet, padding into the dining room as you beelined to the soft murmur of two manly voices.
“Heyyy! Long time no see!” The redhead was dressed in a loose tank top and basketball shorts, shoes discarded somewhere in the hall.
You’d known he was muscular, but actually seeing his muscles without clothes in the way? You were stunned.
A bright blush encompassed your face when Bakugou snapped his fingers, narrowing his eyes at you. “Ay’, stupid! Focus! He got you a bunch of sweet shit. Rot your teeth out.” While gesturing to the two grocery bags resting on the dinner table.
“Hi Kirishima, thanks for the desserts-”
“Aw, it’s nothing. Bakubro wouldn’t tell me what kinda flavors you like so I kinda got a variety...”
Cupcakes and candy and various other sweet treats were nestled in the bags, and you grinned. “Dude, it’s all good. Wanna sit down and have some too?”
Bakugou snorted while Kiri smiled at you, nodding his head.  The dining chair creaked as his weight settled in it, the redhead pushing the grocery bags towards where you sat, encouraging you to pick anything you wanted.
The two men began to talk about this and that, mundane things about work, odd jobs, what their plans for the weekend were, boring stuff you easily tuned out as you indulged in sweet desserts.
Their attention turned to you when a whine slipped from your lips as frosting fell rom the cupcake you were eating and onto your shirt. Before you reached for a napkin, Kiri was leaning over, invading your space.
“You’re kinda messy, aren't you?” He breathed, a single finger swiping through the frosting on your shirt before the redhead sucked it into his mouth, looking at you through his eyelashes.
“Oh-u-uhm...” Was your elegant reply, tummy filled with butterflies at the fact that his finger had pressed against your skin through your shirt, right underneath your breast.
He was so hot.
“Yeah, and a fuckin’ brat too. Little bitch can’t stop complaining about every little thing. Shut up the second I mentioned you were coming over.” Bakugou cackled, breaking the mood completely.
But Kirishima’s eyes were still on you as his now-clean finger slipped from his mouth. It was mesmerizing, watching the muscles in his arms shift and move as he leaned closer, slipping his hands underneath your shirt and raising the fabric so he could lick at the frosting still stuck on it.
Your breath stuttered, heat flaring suddenly in your tummy at the action.
And then Bakugou had to ruin it again.
“You can fuck her if you want, I don’t mind. I told the old bird I would watch her kid for her. Didn’t say nothin’ about not getting her drunk on some cock.”
Eyes squeezing shut, you opened your mouth for some snappy reply, but Kirishima beat you to speaking.
“Yeah? Alright. You good with that baby?”
Wait, good with-?
Kirishima was looking up at you expectantly, fingers still clutched in your shirt, refusing to touch your skin. He was hot. This was hot. It’d be perfect if Bakugou wasn’t here.
“C’mon, just fuck her man, she’s been gaggin’ for your dick since she met you. Stop being a loser and man up.”
The redhead in front of you smiled, sharp teeth on display and gleaming.
Then your shirt was being pulled over your head, hands gripping at your chest, thumbing over your nipples through your bra.
“W-wai-Kiri! Uhm, can’t we- uhm-”
Your voice was ignored, the redhead’s eyes glued to your chest as he pulled down your bra a bit, until he could palm each breast without anything in-between his warm hands and your soft skin.
“You’re so pretty...”
“She’s a whore.” Bakugou snarked.
Hands migrated to your waist, and you were easily lifted onto the table, Kirishima rising from his seat so he could push at your shoulders until they met the solid wood. Bakugou stayed seated, casually notching his hands behind his head and leaning back as he watched the show unfold before him.
Things were happening so fast, you didn’t know what to say, couldn’t move your hands to push away the broad redhead. This was so confusing. Yes, you wanted him, but you didn’t want Bakugou watching. You didn’t want to do this on the dining room table, didn’t like the quick turn the night had taken.
Your pants were being pulled down before you could organize your thoughts, before you could do much else aside from whimper and press your legs together.
“Hah, cute panties. You always wear stuff like this?” Kirishima asked, sliding a thumb underneath the elastic waistband only so he could snap it against your skin. You gasped at the little sting, unsure what to say, what to do.
“Most of her stuff is stupid girly shit like that, so yes.”
You tried to throw a glare Bakugou’s way, but with the blonde somewhere behind you sitting at the table, you couldn’t turn your head far enough.
Especially not when you were distracted by Kirishima pushing down the waistband of his shorts.
“I’m so glad I didn’t wear jeans.” He chuckled, holding his cock at the base as he sat back down again, scooting his chair up to edge of the table where your legs were splayed wide.
“Okay pretty, try and stay still for me. Make as much noise as you wanna, Bakugou and I don’t mind.” And then a warm mouth was pressed up against your cunt, licking at you over your panties, dragging the rough cotton against your most sensitive parts.
“Oh! o-oh, oh-oh-” Was all you could make your mouth manage as the redhead gripped your thighs in his giant hands, pushing them apart and allowing his massive shoulders to fit between them as he bent to lick at your pussy.
It felt... It felt so good, building up pressure in your stomach as your hole clenched around nothing.
Then Kiri did something awful, pulling your panties to the side and nosing into your folds with a pleased grunt. His skin was so warm, and you were so wet, and his nose started bumping against your clit as the man sloppily mouthed at you, and you couldn’t-couldn’t
“Stop-stop! ‘m gonna cum!” You wailed, legs twitching.
Immediately Kirishima drew back, soothing circles getting rubbed into your calves by thick fingers. “You don’t wanna cum in my mouth? Wanna cum on my cock instead? That’s cute.”
He stood up, and you barely got a glimpse of his dick bobbing against his stomach before he was leaning forward and catching your lips in a kiss. It almost scared you, sharp teeth poking menacingly against your lips, dragging across your skin as Kirishima moved his mouth against yours, but the redhead knew how to work with his teeth.
“Man, she really is a slut for you.” Bakugou piped up from behind you. He was a bit breathless, voice scratcher, but you couldn’t focus on that, not when Kirishima was pulling away with a groan, one of his hands fisting his cock.
The redhead gathered the spit in his mouth, leaned down, and let it drip onto your cunt, panties still pushed to the side. It was burning hot, adding to the fire in your tummy, blazing higher and higher.
Heavy breathing and labored panting filled the room as Kirishima edged closer to you, laying his cock flat against your entrance, playing with your panties as he did so until they pressed against his cock as it nestled between the lips of your cunt.
And then he started grinding.
Slow, delicious, absolutely heavenly.
You almost didn’t care about the disgusting little groans coming from Bakugou, the slick sounds of him fucking his fist, the creak of his chair behind you.
Almost.
Your attention was more focused on the pleasurable little zings going up your spine as Kiri rubbed his cock through your folds, all slick and wet. You kept your legs spread wide for him, barely able to breathe at the heat that seemed to fill the space, fill your lungs and steal your voice.
Kiri leaned down to kiss you again, and your hands fisted into his tank top, the material sweaty as it clung to his chest. If you could focus, you’d be trying to pull it off him, see the beautiful skin underneath, the man’s gorgeous body.
But what he was doing with his hips felt so good, you couldn’t even think.
“Kiri-Kiri, gonna-ohmygod-gonna-!”
And you came, shuddering as his cock kept fucking back and forth through your folds, twitching against your clit, veins in his dick pulsing and dragging against your skin.
He wasn’t stopping.
“Unhh, I came, please, wait Kirishima-”
“Didn’t you say you wanted to cum on my cock baby? I’m barely getting warmed up.” A feral smile gleamed bright from his lips. “I don’t play like Bakugou, I like messy girls. Gonna get you so fucked out you can’t even speak, can’t even walk. Won’t give him any trouble then, right? You’ll be good? For us?”
The look in his eye told you that you weren’t going to get a choice.
“Fuck Kiri, turn her over when you fuck her cunt so I can use her mouth.” Bakugou’s voice cut in, and your mood soured even more.
But Kirishima was already agreeing, cock still thrusting against your cunt.
You didn’t get to make decisions anymore.

Ultimate Bonding Experience
Summary:
Hange and Moblit follow Levi and Petra on a date. It's a disaster.
Tags:
one-shot, fluff and humor, nonbinary Hange, they/them pronouns for Hange, officemates, best friends forever, friends to lovers, jealous Hange
Notes:
This is for the Levihan Filo Week Day 4 Prompt, Tourist Destinations, featuring Greenbelt, Makati (Yes, the audacity of me.)
"You're going out on a date with Petra?” Hange stood up too quickly, knocking down the pen holder on their office desk in process. “As in… Petra Rall? From the Marketing Department? As in, sweet-as-candy, honey-bunny, gorgeous glam girl Petra?”
Levi swiveled his computer chair to face his best friend. "She asked me out."
"Hmm. And you didn't say no?" Hange was absentmindedly tapping the end of the pencil against their lower lip.
He gave a half-shrug. "Wanted to try something new for a change."
This was really new. Hange was incredulous. Levi never went on dates. Levi went on food trips and grocery shopping and karaoke nights (mainly due to Hange’s persistent nagging), but he never agreed to a date. There were always other people around whenever they hung out. The two of them had been best friends since college, and now as colleagues, Hange could tell from the numerous awkward and sort-of romantic encounters with Levi that Petra wasn't exactly his type.
"Is this a joke? Is this for a dare?" Hange kept prodding. They would bombard him with questions nonstop until he gave in. “Did you hit your head somewhere? Are you dying?”
"No, I just told you, Four-Eyes, I wanted to try something new.” Levi returned to his work and continued typing on his computer. “She said she already has planned something for tomorrow."
"This isn't you, Levi. You don't like itineraries," Hange said, sitting down to compose themself, gripping the pencil in their hand and holding it too tightly against the notepad.
"Maybe it's about time I do."
“So you’re choosing her over me?” Hange was already upset. Their hand was already shaking at this point, the tip of their pencil threatening to break. Levi would usually hang out with them to binge-watch a show or series on Saturdays over pizza and cheap beer, which reminded her, “What about our UBE?”
“Our—what?” He looked over his shoulder, confused.
Hange gave him a hopeful smile, hand still resting on the paper. “Our Ultimate Bonding... Experience?”
Levi glued his eyes to his computer screen once more. “You can Netflix and chill on your own for one night.”
The pencil snapped in half.
It was only 6 pm and Hange had already downed half a bucket of beers this Friday evening. Tomorrow morning, Levi would meet up with Petra somewhere for their date, maybe have lunch, a movie, some hand-holding and kissing, and then the two would possibly end it up with a bang. Something was really boiling deep inside Hange as these imagined scenes flashed through their mind.
And Erwin had to bear with them for tonight.
"I just don't understand, 'Win," Hange started, "Why would he do this? Why would he trade our pizza night for a girl he can't even relate to?"
Erwin was Hange and Levi's colleague in the same department before he got promoted to an executive position in corporate. Times like this, he would lend an ear to his friends' complaints and act as some sort of a part-time counselor, part-time therapist, and full-time drinking buddy.
Hange should be thankful Erwin had never charged them for these sessions before, but now with all of their whining, he was probably regretting that he gave them for free.
"Last I checked, you guys are just best buddies," Erwin commented. "Have you ever told him how much he means to you?"
Hange pouted.
"I'll take that as a no," Erwin said.
Their friend had a point.
"I can imagine it already, " Hange mused, eyes already watery, "I can imagine him walking down the aisle with pretty-face Petra and making babies with her, while I end up becoming that unknown relative who sends them presents for Christmas every year."
"Ah, I can imagine all the regrets you'll be having for the rest of your life."
Hange grabbed a fistful of hair in both hands. "What do I do now? I want Levi to be happy, I really do. I want to see him be happy, even if it's not with me. But why am I getting all riled up about this?"
"Then follow him," Erwin simply said as he wiped the beer of his mouth with his sleeve. "Follow him to the ends of the earth. Maybe you'll see for yourself."
Erwin had meant it as a figurative speech. When he said follow, he meant Hange supporting Levi all the way through. He never meant Hange stalking their best friend on his date.
Obviously, Hange had gotten it all wrong, because now they just blinked once, twice, a grin forming on their face. As if an epiphany had appeared before them. "Hmm. You're right."
Follow him.
This could be the greatest thing that Erwin Smith had ever come up with. Brilliant idea. Superb, even. One-of-a-kind strategy by none other than the genius Erwin Smith—oh, yes, yes, yes.
Erwin was still finishing up his beer when Hange tackled him into a hug out of gratitude, their smile wider than before. "You really are the best of the best, you know that?" They told him. This could work, Hange thought.
The plan was to follow Levi, literally.
"Boss, why did you pay me a hundred bucks to follow them?"
Hange was wringing their hands together. "We’re doing this together, Moblit! I wanna see how Levi acts around this girl."
"That's it?" Poor Moblit couldn't believe what he's hearing.
"I just wanna make sure he's making a good impression!"
They’re both sitting in a cafe right across Levi’s apartment. He and Hange were dressed up in plain clothes with matching sunglasses and baseball caps. Moblit had no choice; Hange was going to strangle his neck if he declined.
Moblit rested his head against his palm. "Aren't you jealous?"
"Pffft, me? Jealous?" The sour look on Hange's face was enough to tell Moblit that they weren't fooling anybody. It was just Levi’s attitude towards the entire ordeal that was tearing Hange apart. “I’m sure I’m not being rude.”
Moblit scratched his head and sighed. Hange as a boss could be really demanding at times, but the two of them were also friends in real life, which is why he agreed to this. "I thought Petra was head over heels for Oluo?"
"I thought so, too."
"He's dense, though," Moblit said. "Maybe this was just a ruse to get Oluo to confess?"
But Hange was already distracted by the sight of Levi coming out of the building.
"Ooh, he's leaving." Hange pointed towards the familiar figure. They then put their shades on as part of their undercover mission. "Let's go."
The two of them hid behind the fast food mascot of the big fat stupid ugly bee. Levi really knew how to dress up, Hange had noticed. He was wearing a plain button-up with dark pants, his hair neatly trimmed and his face cleanly shaven. He never dressed up like this whenever they hung out. It hurt Hange to see him this handsome. Levi then headed straight for the nearest station and waited for the next train to arrive. Hange and Moblit then took the same train but stayed on the other rail cart, catching a glimpse of Levi every now and then to make sure that he hadn't alighted by then.
“What would you do if they do end up together, Boss?” Moblit had to ask.
“I'd sign my life away as a single person for the rest of my years. Be an old cat person, maybe.”
The skyscrapers of Makati were passing them by, huge billboards left and right of commercial ads and government campaigns looming over them. If they looked far enough, they could see shanties and informal settlers nested in small alleys here and there. Hange had been seeing this for the past few years of their lives; Metro Manila could be daunting, but they wished they could spend away from the noisiness and busyness of the capital.
“He's getting out at Ayala Station, Boss!" Moblit pointed out. "They’re probably meeting somewhere in Greenbelt.”
“Ah, fancy-schmancy. Who could have known?”
Makati was the place only for the very rich, or for the very poor. There was no in between. Nobody dared to bat an eyelash at the rickety houses behind the skyscrapers. The shopping district and the high-end restaurants where affluent people would gather: celebrities, business executives, expatriates, anyone who could call themselves rich, rich, rich. Hange was none of those. Levi wasn't either, but he could easily pass off as one if he wanted to.
When they got off at the station, Hange and Moblit crouched behind the dumpster, craning their necks enough to get a glimpse of Levi coming up to Petra who stood waiting in front of the fountain.
“Ah, I’m so glad you’re here,” Petra said, her smile warm and happy as Levi walked alongside her. “Shall we?”
Petra was effortlessly gorgeous. She had her hair clipped into place, her slender figure matching the nice summer dress that she wore. She had also put on some light makeup, but even without it, Hange could tell that Petra would still be as breathtaking.
There really wasn't anything that Hange could hate about Petra Rall. Petra was attractive and alluring, sweet and shy, probably the ultimate dream girl of every person in their office. Hange would date Petra if she were even into them, provided the two of them had a spark.
But Hange's attention was all for Levi. Always had been. Always will be.
"Shall we, Boss?" Moblit interrupted Hange's train of thought.
"Right."
Tonight they felt that they had to accept the possibility of Levi ending up with someone else. Regardless of how this would end, Hange had decided they'd be there for him.
They didn't really blend in with this fancy-schmancy place. This was one of the most expensive fashion malls in the area; the price tags made broke people cry, and the restaurants were considered artisan for their taste. People were dressed up in crisp polos and cocktail dresses, the faint smell of perfume wafting here and there. The gardens had a beautiful landscape, stoned paths paving the way, and the lights were carefully draped on the trees around them, glowing like stars. It was a romantic setup for lovers.
Petra was pointing out all the different sights around the area, holding onto Levi's arm. Levi remained stiff all throughout their date, not even shedding a single ounce of emotion when Petra popped a joke. It ended up being a lousy one, though, since Levi didn't even scoff. Hange felt smug after that; their own jokes were terrible as well, but at least Levi would call them out for that.
"I think it's going well, don't you, Boss?" Hange's assistant teased.
“Oh, yeah, perfect, I can see how compatible they are.” Hange was being sarcastic.
Petra had chosen a place called People's Palace. It had a five-star rating on the internet, and even the cheapest item on the menu could break a whole in someone's wallet. There was no way they could eat there. Levi didn't even protest, though. He must have been saving up for this all along. Thankfully, the restaurant's walls were a solid transparent glass, and Hange could see the two of them from afar without having to go in.
Petra was saying something in a hushed tone when Levi came over to her side. He then put a hand on her face, tenderly brushing her cheek, as if he were about to go in for a kiss.
The moment Levi held Petra that close, Hange had to stifle their gasp which ended up like a strangled cry.
The sound made Levi look over his shoulder. Moblit had to cup his hand over Hange's mouth to shush them up, pulling them down behind the huge pots of plants.
"You alright?" Petra asked him, craning her neck towards the source of the sound as well. "What was that?"
Levi clicked his tongue. "Probably some lost bird. Well, more like a dying one."
The two went back to their meals and didn't bother to check if they were being followed. Moblit then let go of Hange and sighed in relief. They were safe, for now.
Everyone in the restaurant looked classy and elegant, soft lights all over the room. After Levi had paid for the meal (he didn't look too happy when he saw the check), he and Petra stood up and exited through the other door on the farthest end. Hange had forgotten about that. The People's Palace had an entryway connecting to the indoor gardens. They would have to enter the premise in order to follow Levi and Petra.
Without any further thought, Hange immediately stood up to barge into the restaurant, urging their assistant to follow. "They're probably confessing to each other in the gardens!" Hange was already right through the entrance. "Moblit, hurry up, I need to—"
"Boss, watch out!"
The warning came in too late. Hange had already knocked down a drink from the waiter's tray right behind them, the liquid spilling all onto the customer sitting nearest to where they were. The huge beefy man was furious, the steam already coming out of his reddened ears.
"Why, you, son-of-a-gun—"
Hange held up both hands in front of their face. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to!"
"Do you even belong here, you prick?" The stranger grabbed the front of Hange's oversized shirt. There were gasps from other customers, and one of the servers left to call the manager.
"Please, don't!"
The man started shaking Hange. "Filthy, pathetic, piece of—"
Somebody grabbed his wrist before he could even do anything else. "Let go."
It was Levi.
"And who the fuck are you?"
He was small, but his presence was intimidating, firm. "My friend already apologized. Isn't that enough?"
The stranger released his hold of Hange and held out the stained fabric. "Fucking pay for this shirt, asshole!"
Hange was mouthing 'sorry, sorry, sorry,' to him, their eyes filled with apology. Levi didn't bat an eyelash. Instead, he quickly took out twenty bucks from his wallet and shoved it into the huge man's hand. He then grabbed his friend by the elbow. "Hange, come on."
"Hey, this isn't enough, shortstack," the stranger grumbled, crumpling the bill. He gestured once more to his stained shirt. "Do you know how much I bought this for?"
"You could buy a similar one from one of the thrift stores downtown for less than half the price. I doubt anybody would notice." He tugged at Hange again and headed for the exit.
"What did you say, you little—"
They were out of the restaurant before the man could even finish. The manager had kept the customer in his seat, trying to console him with a discounted coupon.
Outside was a breath of fresh air, the coolness of it enough to clear their minds.
“You alright?”
Hange was still trembling. Their lips quivered, too. They had never been roughly-held like that before. Levi calmed them down by rubbing their back, urging them to take slow, steady breaths.
"Levi?" Petra called after the two of them. "Are we still heading to the movie?"
Hange had feared this all along. They didn't want to ruin his date with Petra; they merely wanted to see Levi, and now they had done it. Hange held their own face in both hands. Levi saw it and knew what he had to do.
“I’m sorry, Petra, but we should probably call it off at this point.”
"Should we re-sched?"
Levi paused before responding. "I had a good time tonight, Petra. But I think... once is enough.
“Oh. Okay.” Petra stood still for a moment, disappointed. They expected her to cause a scene, to thrash at him or at Hange, and then complain about her evening. But to Petra's credit, she merely broke into a smile and said, "Thanks for giving me a chance, Levi. I had a good time, too. You guys enjoy the rest of the night."
The huge beefy man suddenly burst out of the glass door, the restaurant manager no longer able to hold him back. "You fucking punks, I'm going to call the police—"
Hange hid behind Levi out of instinct, which didn't make any sense, considering that he was a couple inches shorter than them. "What now?" Their hand was still in his.
"Go ahead, Petra's safe with me," Moblit assured them. "I'll text you guys once we get home safely."
Levi nodded and took off with Hange.
They ran past the gardens, past the expensive shops, past the fountains and the bright lights. Everything seemed like a blur. Hange's senses had overloaded their brain at this point, especially since Levi's hand was still holding on to theirs. It was warm. They never expected any of these to happen. Levi would look over his shoulder once in a while to see if Hange could still keep up. They ran as fast as their legs could carry them, and with every tug of their hand, Hange felt like they were living in a dream. The two of them had already reached the station, heavily panting as they clutched their chest.
"So much for trailing me all this time, Four-Eyes," Levi heaved. He knew.
Hange was beyond apologetic. "I'm sorry, okay! I just wanted to see how you'd act around someone while on a date."
Levi made another scoffing sound. For a minute, Hange thought he was mad. But the intensity in his eyes was full of longing, like somehow, he did want Hange to follow him. And then Levi sighed. "Erwin told me you might be spying; my suspicions were confirmed when I saw you hiding behind the plants."
“Oh.” Hange had nothing else to say. “Well, then, I, uhm, I should probably head home. Sorry for ruining your date."
They were about to leave when Levi held their hand once again, stopping Hange in their tracks. "Where do you want to go?" he asked.
"Huh?"
"You already ruined my date, so you might as well hang out with me for the rest of the night."
Hange couldn't believe what they were hearing. It was almost too good to be true. But the reality dawned upon them; they were still in Makati, and they couldn’t really afford any of these places. "Uh… well, I don't really have any money, and I'm not really sure I want to dine here…"
"It's fine,” Levi said. “I know a place to go."

“I think Connor likes you,” your friend, Karina, nudged you.
You looked over to the cute, brunette boy that was staring at you from across the hallway. “Yeah, right,” you muttered.
“I’m serious! Oh, look! He’s coming to ask you out!” Karina squealed.
You looked away from your locker, straightening up as Connor was approaching you. He flashed you a charming smile.
“I’m gonna go. Meet me by your car!” Karina smiled.
“No! Rina!” You whisper-shouted.
Your attention was turned to Connor as he stood in front of you.
“Hey, Y/n,” he greeted. “Hey… Connor,” you smiled shyly.
“I wanted to ask you a question,” he said, leaning against the lockers.
“Y-Yeah, go ahead,” you nodded. He smiled at your nervousness, moving closer to you.
His scent filled your nostrils and you felt yourself going dizzy. You leaned against the lockers, hoping it would help you not trip and fall.
“So, I was wondering if you wanted to go on a date with me at Mystic Grill. We can get dinner then go back to my place and watch a movie,” Connor suggested.
Your eyes widened. You were pleasantly surprised. You had liked Connor since school had started, which was a few months ago. You had been trying to get him to notice you, which was going horribly until now. You were way too shy to go up to say anything to him. You guessed that Karina had something to do with him asking you out.
“Um, Earth to Y/n?” Connor asked, waving his hand in front of your face.
“Huh?” You blinked rapidly. You looked at him, getting even more embraced and shy when you realise you got lost in your own thoughts. “Oh, I’m so sorry. I’m just um… not really used to people asking me out, you know? I’ve never really been on a date before. My Aunt Jenna used to say that was okay since I’m only in junior year and stuff, but my brother has already had sex with Vicki Donovan and my sister is already on her second boyfriend. It’s kinda sad how un-loveable I am and-”
You were cut off by Connor chuckling. You cussed yourself out in your head for being so awkward.
“I’m sorry, again. I ramble a lot, too,” you apologised.
“It’s not worries. It’s really cute. You’re really cute. Anyways, what do you say? Come with me to Netflix and chill?” Connor asked.
You smiled, opening your mouth to respond, but you were rudely interrupted.
“She has plans Friday. Sorry, mate,” an all-too familiar Australian accent sounded behind you.
You clenched your jaw and balled your fists. You turned your head, glaring.
“Kol, go away,” you said through gritted teeth.
“No can do, darling. Jeremy asked me to watch over you,” Kol smiled.
“Uh, who’s this guy?” Connor asked. You turned back to him. “Oh, just a uh… family friend. Don’t mind him, he’s super annoying.”
“Actually, do mind me. I’m here to pick Y/n up. Elena wants you home, now,” Kol said.
“Oh. Well, if you need to be home, go ahead,” Connor said.
You sighed, “Yeah, um, I do. But it’s a yes to the date.”
Connor smiled widely. “Awesome! I’ll pick you up at 8.”
“Great! Can’t wait,” you smiled sweetly.
Connor walked away, leaving you grinning from ear-to-ear.
“You can do so much better, Y/n,” Kol said.
You rolled your eyes, turning 180 to him. “Go away, Kol. I know for a fact that Jeremy and Elena didn’t tell you to watch over me.”
“Hm, true. That was just an excuse,” Kol smiled.
“An excuse for what?” You asked. “Well, I needed and excuse to talk to you,” Kol shrugged.
You sighed, going back to your locker and grabbing your textbooks. “About what?” You asked.
“Well, I know my family hasn’t made it easy for any of you, so we are throwing a ball! My mother’s idea, really. We are allowed to bring dates and I’d like to bring you,” Kol explained.
You started to feel all flustered. “Uh… Wh-Why?”
“Because I like you, Y/n. I think you’re cute, funny, and all the good parts of a woman. I’d like you to ditch that Connor-nobody and be my plus one!”
You slammed your locker shut, walking away from Kol.
“Y/n, darling! You never answered me!” Kol exclaimed, trying to catch up with you.
“Yeah, I did that on purpose,” you muttered, knowing he could hear you because of his vamp hearing.
“You are so rude. I take it your parents didn’t teach you any manners? Not like they can teach you them now,” Kol joked.
You scoffed, not believing what you were hearing. “Like you can talk. And plus, why would I want to go to the ball with a jerk like you?”
You waked out of the school, spotting Karina over at your car.
“Y/n, wait!” Kol called out, reaching out to grab your wrist.
“What!” You exclaimed, turning to him.
“Look, I’m sorry, okay? I didn’t mean that, but I really do want you to accompany me to the ball,” Kol said, staring you right in the eyes.
You stared at him for a few moments, your eyes flickering down to his lips. Once you noticed him smirk, you looked away, pulling your wrist away from his grip.
“I appreciate the invitation, but I’m going out with Connor,” you mumbled.
Kol sighed, “Fine. But if you reconsider, it’ll be at our house.”
“Thanks,” you said, looking up at him through your lashes. “I need to go, okay? My friend is waiting for me.”
“Alright. I hope you reconsider, Y/n. I’d be a shame if I didn’t have a date,” Kol said.
“As if you can’t get anyone you want,” you rolled your eyes.
“But I only want you,” Kol admitted.
Butterflies fluttered in your stomach. As much as you wanted to stay and ask him if he really did want you, you knew you’d end up a blubbering mess. And you definitely didn’t want to be like that in front of a devastatingly handsome Original vampire.
“I gotta go,” you murmured, turning away and stomping off to Karina.
“Hey, who’s that?” Karina asked once you approached.
“Oh um… An annoying friend of Jeremy,’s” you lied, running your fingers through your hair.
“Hm, well he’s hot,” Karina bit her lip, looking at Kol who was still where you left him.
You rolled your eyes and started to twiddle with your fingers. “No, he’s not.”
Karina narrowed her eyes at you, gasping in realisation.
“What?” You asked, full of confusion. “You like him!” Karina grinned.
You scoffed, “Hell no.”
“Hell, yes! You’re doing that thing you do when you talk about a guy you like,” Karina giggled, pointing to your hands.
You looked down and sighed, putting your arms to your sides. “I do that when I’m nervous.”
“Oh, yeah? Are you nervous about Mr. Hottie?” Karina wiggled her eyebrows.
“No. I’m nervous because Connor asked me out this Friday,” you explained.
“Oh, my God! Babe, that’s awesome!” Karina squealed, jumping up and down, clapping while doing so.
“Thanks, I know,” you smiled sheepishly. “Well, what day is it? Wednesday, right? We need to shop!” Karina exclaimed.
“No, no! I'll just wear jeans and a cute top. There’s no need to shop,” you said.
“Have you seen your closet? You only have one cute flora top and a pair of black baggy jeans. The rest of your closet are sweats and sweatshirts. You don’t even have any date-appropriate dresses!” Karina said.
“Not true!” You protested weakly.
“Mhm,” Karina said, pursing her lips. You rolled your eyes, knowing she was right.
“Fine, but we are only going to buy one outfit. ONE,” you said, holding up your first finger.
“I’ll take it! Wanna go now?” Karina asked.
“Sure,” you nodded. “Yay! We can get lunch at the Grill, too,” Karina suggested, opening the passenger door of your car.
“Alright,” you nodded, going over to the driver’s seat.
You drove to the outlet mall, parking in front of the shop. Karina and you walked inside, Karina immediately pulling you to the jeans section.
“God, I hate jeans,” you muttered. “Why?” Karina asked.
“Because they’re tight and I have to jump to get them on,” you explained.
“Well, that’s just because you have a nice ass,” Karina smiled.
You smiled, “Yeah, right.” “I’m serious! Your figure is to die for! I’m jealous, honestly,” Karina said in a sincere tone.
You chuckled, “Thanks, Rina.”
“Of course. Now, let’s see what jeans they have. Do you want black, dark wash, or light wash?” Karina asked.
“Dark wash,” you answered. “High-waisted or low-waisted?” Karina asked.
“(Your choice),” you said.
Karina pulled out two pairs of jeans, handing them to you. “Now, for the shirts! Do you want a ruffled top, knot front, or button-up?”
“Um, ruffled, I guess,” you said. “Alright… Well, I know you like plaid… So, what about this one?” Karina pulled out a black and white top that was cropped. It was long sleeved, the sleeves ruffled slightly. The bottom of the shirt was stretchy and the top had buttons.
“Wow, this is really cute. Simple, too. I like it,” you smiled.
“I knew you would! Now, go try it on,” Karina said, going over to the changing rooms.
You put on your cloths, buttoning up the top and turning around to the mirror. You raised your brows, surprised by how good you looked.
“You done?” Karina called out from outside.
“Yeah,” you said, going out of the dressing room.
“You look so pretty. Y/n. The jeans highlight your figure perfectly!” Karina exclaimed.
“Yeah,” you smiled, “And the top isn’t as cropped as I thought it would be.”
“I am amazing at dressing you! Maybe I should become a professional dresser?” Karina said.
You chuckled, “You should. Well, I think I’ll get this. I’m not interested in shopping anymore and I’m hungry.”
“Alright, well, I have some things I want to try on. So, give me 15 minutes tops and get us a table at the Grill,” Karina said, holding up the clothes she found.
“Sounds good,” you said. You went back behind the door and changed out of your clothes. You paid for your outfit, walking out and going to the Grill.
You got yourself seated quickly.
“Y/n, hey!” Matt exclaimed. “Oh, hey, blue eyes,” you grinned.
“How have you been?” Matt asked. “Good! How about you?” You asked.
“I’ve been good, thanks. How is Elena?” Matt asked.
You chuckled, “Elena is good. I’ll tell her you asked about her.”
“Alright, sounds good. So, I heard Connor Askren asked you out,” Matt said.
“Oh, yeah,” you smiled happily. “Good for you. I have to warn you, though, be careful,” Matt said.
“Be careful about what?” You asked. “Well, Connor has a reputation of asking girls out then bailing on them,” he explained.
“Oh,” you frowned. “Well, he seemed really excited to ask me out.”
“I'm sure he was. I’m just saying. You’re like a little sister to me. I don’t want you getting hurt,” Matt explained.
You smiled gratefully. “Thanks, big bro.”
“No problem. Anyways, are you here alone or is Karina with you?” He asked.
“She’s with me. She’s at the clothing store. I just came from there, hence the bag,” you said, holding up your shopping bag.
“Ah right. Let me guess, she wanted to try some stuff on and she let you go?” Matt asked.
“Yep,” you laughed. “That’s what Caroline does. So, do you want to get started with a drink or anything?” Matt asked.
“Yeah, sure. Can I get a Diet Coke, chicken tenders, and cheese fries?” You asked.
“Coming right up. Do you know what Karina would want?” Matt asked.
“She’ll probably want lemonade, a chicken wrap, and onion rings,” you said.
“Alright. Be right back,” Matt smiled.
You gave him a goodbye wave. You sighed once he left, looking at your shopping bag. You would be lying if you said you were’t worried about Connor. You hoped that he was different than what Matt told you.
————
Friday came sooner than expected. You were currently at home and getting ready for your date. Karina had helped you with your makeup, putting eyeliner on you and letting you borrow her lipstick. You were strapping on your heels when Karina told you she was leaving.
“Text me if you two kiss,” Karina winked.
“Highly doubt we will, but noted,” you smiled.
“Alright, I’m gonna go. You look amazing, Y/n. Have fun!” Karina hugged you before leaving.  “Thanks,” you giggled as you shut the door.
You looked at your phone, seeing it was 7:57. You smiled nervously, grabbing your purse and waiting at the door. The 3 minutes passed by slowly. It was soon 8 and he wasn’t there yet. You shrugged it off, knowing that he would probably be there in a minute or two. But as you waited, 2 minutes passed, 5, 10, and 20. Each time you checked your phone, your hope in Connor disappeared and your fear of what Matt said becoming true increased. Once it reached 8:30, you realised that Connor wasn’t coming and he had in fact stood you up.
You stomped off to your room, tears falling down your cheeks.
“God! How stupid are you, Y/n? Thinking a guy like Connor would want to go out with you? A football player? A guy with one of the highest GPA’s? Fat chance,” you sobbed to yourself.
You took off your heels and wiped your eyes with the back of your hand, smudging all the makeup that Karina had done. You took off your clothes, slipping into sweats and a tank top. You washed your face of all the makeup, going into your kitchen. You went to go and get some chocolate, but someone interrupted you.
“Don’t look so glum, Y/n. Connor is an ass.” You turned around sharply, surprised to see Rebekah there.
“I… Rebekah, what are you doing here?” You asked rudely.
“I’m here to give you your dress and get you ready for the ball!” Rebekah smiled.
“I’m not going,” you mumbled, going back to getting your food.
Rebekah sped to you, grabbing your wrist. “Yes, you are. I don’t like you very much. I don’t like any of your family, but Kol seems to have taken an interest in you. I have no idea why, but I just got my family back and want to make everyone happy.”
“Well, I don’t like Kol. So you can tell him to shove off,” you said.
“Hm… No,” Rebekah grinned. “C’mon, you’re going to the ball whether you like it or not. Your sister and brother will also be there.”
“Another reason not to go,” you stated.
“Oh, please! If you don’t go I am sure Kol will kill Elena and Jeremy,” Rebekah said.
“No! I… I don’t want to. Kol doesn’t even like me. He just likes to piss off all my friends,” you said.
“Y/n, look at me,” Rebekah said. You looked at her dully.
“Kol likes you. Hell, I think he’s in love with you. All he talks about it you and quite frankly, it’s sickening, but a little heartwarming to see him care so much for someone. So, please, come to the ball. If you want to leave after a little bit, I’ll make sure you go without any issue. But just try it out,” Rebekah begged.
Your heart fluttered once you heard Kol might be in love with you. If you were completely honest, you had a little crush on Kol. How couldn’t you? He was charming, handsome, and even nice to you. You never pursued the crush because one, you were too shy for that. And two, you knew your family would kill you. But you knew Rebekah would just kidnap you and take you there, even if you said no again, so you deciding to say yes.
“Fine, I’ll go. But don’t expect me to have fun,” you mumbled.
Rebekah took her hand off your wrist, smiling widely. “Great! Let’s go and get you ready, we’re late.”
You nodded and went back to your room. Rebekah sat you down and did your makeup. Giving you a fox eye look with a red lip. She then got out your dress, to which you gasped at.  Your dress was a long red ballgown. The top of the dress had jewels all over, the skirt then puffing out like Cinderella’s. The sleeves of the dress were made to go across your shoulders, letting the top of your breasts and your collar bone show.
“Wow I… Wow,” you gasped.
“Amazing, right? You’ll be the belle of the ball! You’ll even outshine Elena, who’s dress is disappointingly gorgeous,” Rebekah smiled.
“Thank you,” you smiled.
“Of course! Now go put it on, I’ll help you with the back,” Rebekah said handing it to you.
You took it gently, going to your bathroom to get changed. You came out, letting Rebekah tighten the dress for you. You then slipped on your black heels that you were wearing earlier, and took a look at you reflection.
“Wow, I actually look like a princess,” you smiled.
“That you do,” Rebekah smiled. “Now let’s go. Our ride is waiting.”
You nodded, lifting up the bottom of your dress so you could walk. You and Rebekah walked out to the limo, going over to the Mikaelson house.
“Hey, Rebekah?” You asked. “Yes?” She answered.
“Why are you being so nice to me? Besides making Kol happy,” you asked.
Rebekah sighed. “Well, I think you’re good for my brother. You make him more bearable to be around. Kinder, warmer. A lot less murderous. I know you like him, too. I can see the way you look at him when you think no one is paying attention. He’s head over heels for you and I think you could be the same for him after tonight.”
“Good to know,” you smiled.
“Mhm. But don’t tell anyone I ever complimented you or helped you out tonight. I don’t need your friends thinking I have a good side,” Rebekah said.
You chuckled. “Alright, deal.”
You two arrived at Rebekah’s house, stepping out of the limo. Rebekah and you waked to the doors, opening them. As you stepped into the ballroom, all eyes went on you. Your entrance elicited gasps from everyone. You smiled shyly, your smile faltering once Elena, Damon, and Jeremy approached you. Rebekah left you to deal with your family.
“What the hell are you doing here!” Elena exclaimed.
“Having fun, El,” you answered.
“No, you need to go home now,” Damon said.
You shook your head. “No. Connor stood me up and Kol invited me to this thing, so I decided to take the opportunity.”
Elena’s angry face fell as she heard what Connor did. “Connor stood you up? That jerk!”
“It's okay. I’d rather be here and in this dress than with him and drunk,” you admitted.
“Need me to beat him up for you?” Jeremy asked. “I’m good baby bro, but thanks. Uh…. have you guys seen Kol?” You asked.
“Nope,” Elena said. “And I wouldn’t advise looking for him. He might kill you,” Damon frowned.
“No, I won’t! Like she said, I invited her here,” Kol said from behind them.
Damon turned, a grimace on his face. “Why?”
“Because I am in love with her,” Kol smiled, his eyes meeting you’s.
Your blood ran cold and you looked down, holding the skirt of your dress tightly.
“I’d like to dance with her, if that’s alright,” Kol said.
“No way,” Jeremy said. “You put a hand on her-”
“Jer, it’s okay,” you said. “I’ll shout if I’m in trouble. Please, just go.”
Elena sighed, “Fine. I have to go and see Esther anyways. Do not hurt her.” Elena warned Kol.
“I never would dream of it,” Kol smiled.
The three left, leaving you and Kol at the entrance. Kol approached you, you putting your head down again.
“You look ravishing, Y/n. If we were alone, I’d rip that dress off of you,” Kol said, looking over your figure.
“Thanks,” you chuckled shyly.
Kol put his hand on your chin gently, lifting your face up to meet his. “Don’t be so shy, Y/n. And don’t self-doubt yourself, either. I know that asshole Connor stood you up, but you are still the most beautiful, kind girl ever. He doesn’t deserve you anyways.”
“And you do?” You challenged.
Kol chuckled. “No, but I’m hoping you think differently.” He then offered you his hand. “Dance with me?”
“Sure,” you nodded, taking his hand hesitantly.
Butterflies threatened to rip out of you as you touched his hand. Goosebumps rushed up your arm as you grasped his hand. Kol walked you two to the ballroom floor. You put your free hand on his shoulder, him putting his free hand on your waist. You two swayed for a few moments until you broke the silence.
“So, um… How did you know Connor stood me up?” You asked.
“I had Rebekah spying on you,” Kol admitted.
“Wow, not creepy at all,” you muttered. “I wanted to be ready for if he stood you up, so Rebekah could then go and get you ready,” Kol explained.
“Makes sense,” you said.
Kol smiled at you, not being able to keep his eyes off of you. You kept adverting your gaze. Too nervous to actually look at him or more than 5 seconds.
“You’re very cute when you’re tense,” Kol complimented.  “Thanks. Not a lot of people think that,” you chuckled. “Well, those people are out of their minds then,” Kol said.
“Why do you like me?” You asked suddenly, looking at him. You had been wandering this all night, waiting until you were here with him to ask.
Kol smiled. “Well, you’re different. You’re not aggressive like your brother, or so moral like Elena. You’re quiet and calm. You think through things rather than be impulsive, which seems to be how everyone is around here. Your eyes are so beautiful, I get lost in them. When I see you smile, it makes my dead heart come alive. And when you do that hair-twirl thing, it’s so adorable. You’re also extraordinarily stunning, which is a big plus.”
Your heart skipped beats as he told you his reasons for liking you. As you looked at him and watched him pour his heart out, your liking for him grew. You subconsciously moved closer to him, too. Your body doing its own thing.
“Wow,” you breathed out. “You really um… Thought about this.”
“Well, you are all I think about. Besides who’s head I want to rip off,” Kol smirked.
“Gross,” you grimaced. “I’m kidding! But I’m serious about you. I’ve never liked someone as much as you, Y/n. I hope that I can prove that I’m a good choice for you,” Kol said.
“Well, you’re proving it now,” you admitted.
Kol grinned, “Fantastic.”
You two swayed in silence again. As the music got slower and slower, and the lights got lower and lower, you two moved dancing positions naturally. You were quite scared to move closer to him. You were already so close, practically hugging. But your bodies were like magnets, pulling each other close. So tried to go with everything and relax.
Both of your arms went around his neck and both of his hands wrapped around your waist and went to the small of your back. You two scooted in until your head was on his shoulder. You closed your eyes and breathed in his scent nonchalantly, enjoying his cologne. Kol nuzzled his cheek onto the side of your head, him also breathing in the scent of your shampoo.
You two danced for a while before Kol got an idea.
“Do you want to get out of here and go to the balcony?” Kol asked.
“You’re not gonna kill me, are you?” You joked.
“No promise,” Kol winked cheekily. You giggled, “Alright. Let’s go.” Kol nodded and kept his grip on your hand, walking you to the balcony. On the way, you took two glasses of champagne. You handed him one as you stepped out on the terrace. You put your elbows on the railing, sipping the champagne.
“So, why’d you bring me out here?” You asked.
“To gaze at the stars,” Kol answered simply, walking next to you.
“Hm,” you hummed, looking up at the night sky. “Did you ever stargaze back before you all were vampires?”
“Yes, all the time. It was one of my favourite things to do,” Kol said.
“That sounds nice,” you said. “It was,” Kol said.
“Do you ever miss being a witch?” You asked. Kol sighed, taking a sip of champagne. “Sometimes. But I love being immortal.” You smiled, “Makes sense. If I were a vampire, I’d be the same.”
Kol turned to you, “I can turn you.”
You shook your head, “No. I like being human. Being a vampire seems to complicated. Plus, I want kids.”
“Hm. Sounds nice having your little perfect, human life. I miss that,” Kol said.
“You were never human, though,” you smiled, turning to him. “Yes, but I was once mortal,” Kol said.
“True,” you nodded, taking a sip of your champagne. “Hey, um… I want to thank you for inviting me. I know I said I didn’t want to go, but I’m really glad I did. I’m having a really good time.”
“Of course. I knew you would. I know you’re not the girly-girl type, but every girl deserves to experience to dress up for a ball,” Kol said.
“I agree,” you nodded. “And I’m also glad that you are warming up to me a little bit. You’re not so much of a blubbering mess anymore,” Kol smirked.
You chuckled, “Yeah, I take a little to warm up to new people.”
“Well, I’m glad I’m that person you’ve warmed up to,” Kol said, stepping closer to you. He put his hand on your’s, looking at you flirtatiously.
You grinned at the moves he was making, deciding to make a move of your own.
You leaned into him, your eyes boring into his the whole time. You were standing toe-to-toe to him, your mouth parted as his eyes glowed dark brown. He smirked at you, his hand leaving your’s and settling on your waist. You wanted to move closer, but your skirt was so puffed out it restricted you from doing so. Kol noticed your slight frustration with your dress, setting his glass down, and putting his other hand on your waist, pulling you impossibly closer.
“Kol, my dress is too big,” you chuckled.
“Not too big for me to do this,” Kol grinned, leaning his head down.
Before you knew it, he was kissing you. Your eyes widened as his lips met your’s. A few moments passed before he pulled away, confused and scared.
“I’m sorry, I must have read the room wrong. I-” Kol started to apologise, but you put your hand on the back of his head and pulled him in again.
This time Kol was surprised. He didn’t waste any time in kissing you back, though. Your lips moved together in perfect synchronisation. It was like his lips were made for your’s as they fit in-between your’s like puzzle pieces. Both your fingers entangled themselves in his hair, pulling slightly as he pulled you impossibly closer. Your stomach did a million of flips as his tongue swiped your bottom lip. You opened your mouth slowly, Kol’s tongue slipping in gently. As your tongue’s fought, Kol’s hands went to your skirt, finding your legs under them. He put his hands under your thighs, lifting you up with ease.
You pulled away, breathing heavily. Kol’s eyes opened, going down to your lips and smiling as your lipstick was smudged. Your chest heaved up and down as you stared into his eyes.
“I just wanted to um… To tell you that i-if you were planning on having um, sex. I’m not ready. This um… This was my first kiss, too. Sorry if you were expecting to get lucky tonight,” you confessed, blushing profusely.
Kol smiled at you, setting you down. “It’s alright, love. I wasn’t expecting anything from you tonight. I hope your first kiss was good.”
“It was really good,” you giggled.
“Good. Now, do you want to continue to make out? Or we could go back out and dance,” Kol suggested.
“Um… can we dance again?” You asked, going back to your shy nature.
“Of course we can, darling,” Kol smiled, holding his hand out for you to take.
He led you to the ballroom. You two danced for a couple hours until you started to get tired. Kol drove you back home and you went into your house, Kol kissing you goodbye. You closed the door, smiling widely and squealing to yourself.
Your phone rang and you answered it immediately, seeing it was Karina.
“Hey! How did your date go?” She asked.
“Um…” you sighed, the feeling of Kol’s lips on your’s still there. You smiled again, fidgeting with your fingers.
“It was good. Really, really good.”

tipstie PLEASE tell me about tlb turning human/ human AU
Tumblr media
Absolutely my dudes 👁👁 (this is also all hcs about how vampire rules work so just go with it)
So for me a human TLB AU isn’t one where they die and turn human, it’s one where Max is killed after being found out one way or another before any altercation with the boys happens, and they revert back to humans as a result
The reason this happens is because all the boys were sired by Max, and while they are technically full vampires, they aren’t independent vampires
Sires act as a sort of guardian to the vampires they turn, watching over them and guiding them until they believe they’re ready to take care of themselves
This is why they have a certain level of control, influence, and power over the vampires they turn, they have a bond
When sires think the vampires they’ve turned are ready to make it on their own, they sever that bond with a ritual that relinquishes complete autonomy to their vampires
But Max never did this
He wanted a family, and families have to stick together, so until his death he still clung to that small sliver of control over the boys, and that last step to complete and independent vampirism remained incomplete
And so, when Max is killed, there’s a sort of backlash, a glitch
The bond is broken, but broken wrong, and the small piece of the boys that’s still human, the piece that still remains deep down, starts clawing it’s way out
It hits Marko first, since was turned most recently, chills and fever and body wracking pain, like his body is eating itself from the inside out
It’s nothing like any of them have ever seen or heard of before, and they don’t know what to do but sit with him and try to lessen the fever
Paul follows a few hours later, exactly the same, and Dwayne helps David carry the two of them a little over halfway to the Emerson house before he collapses too
David gets them the rest of the way there, feeling worse and worse the longer he goes
He knocks on the door and Michael opens it, and David only manages a raspy “Need your help, Michael,” before he’s pitching forward into his arms
The next week or so is a blur
Michael convinces Lucy and Grandpa to help, and for Sam to keep the Frogs away while they figure out what’s going on
Star calls that night, and says she and Laddie were out when they felt themselves change back, and that she didn’t wait to find out why
She caught a bus to her cousin’s place in LA and took Laddie with her, but wanted to make sure Michael was ok
He says he’s fine, and promises to call again with more details, since “it’s a little hard to explain right now” and they hang up with plans to talk that weekend
Meanwhile the boys are going in and out of feverish half awake states, never lucid enough to do anything except drink water and groan. The Emersons take care of them in shifts, and Michael helps Grandpa research what might be happening to them. They don’t find a lot
Marko is the first to come out of it, after about three days
He’s groggy and confused, waking up to Lucy wiping his forehead with a damp towel
She gives him something to drink and helps him sit up, but there’s something... wrong
There’s a weight in his chest, a thrumming, heavy heartbeat, expanding lungs, heat
He’s breathing again, he’s alive again
He’s human
Paul wakes up in the middle of that night, to Michael in the room this time. After getting the general “you’re human but we don’t know why” pitch, he’s taken to a guest bedroom where he finds Marko curled up on the bed. He slides in behind him and pulls him close, and he knows Marko isn’t asleep because he can feel him shaking
Marko’s always been good at crying quietly
Paul’s pretty personable as they wait for David and Dwayne to wake up. He talks with the family and reads comics on the living room couch, and fetches food and stuff for Marko, who’s basically refusing to leave the guest room
Being back in a human body is bringing back too many memories for him of the shitty life he escaped from, and he’s having a hard time dealing with it
But Paul is there, and the Emersons are alright, and he’s eventually able to be coaxed out to have an actual meals with the family, and that’s nice too
Dwayne wakes up the Saturday after the boys first arrive, in one of the rare times no one was in the room to keep an eye on him and David
He interrupts breakfast by barreling into the living room looking extremely lost and worried, and shakily rushes over to pull Paul and Marko into a hug when he sees them staring wide eyed at him from the table
“Couldn’t hear you...” he mumbles into Marko’s hair. “Can’t hear either of you anymore...”
Lucy has him join them at the table and gets him his own plate of food, and they explain what they know. It still isn’t a lot, but it does give him a reason as to why the mental link the boys had is gone
The following days are strangely quiet. Michael and Lucy help the boys adjust, reminding them to eat and helping them when they forget they don’t have super strength or magic healing
The boys start talking more too, mostly out of necessity since they can’t communicate mentally anymore (which Marko thinks is extremely annoying) but also because life in the Emerson house is... surprisingly comfortable
Michael explains the whole thing to Star over the phone, and after a moment she laughs
“Maybe they needed this,” she tells him, “maybe this is good.”
A week and a half after the boys arrive, two things happen: David finally wakes up, and the Frogs find out who the mysterious house guests Sammy’s been keeping them away from are
David comes to in a dim room, with Michael dozing against the wall
He grunts and pushes himself up, and only just registers the heat of his own blood and the scratch of breathing in the back of his throat when there’s a commotion from somewhere outside
Michael wakes up with a slight flinch, rubbing a hand over his face, and makes eye contact with David right as the door slams open and Dwayne, Marko, and Paul come rushing in, followed quickly by the Frog brothers and a frantic Sam
It takes a bit of explaining, but they eventually come to an understanding
The Frogs are still a bit hesitant to believe the boys are human, but it’s not like real vampires could walk in the sunlight or show up in the hall mirror, so that’s good enough for them
The boys continue living with the Emersons after that
They find ways to help out here and there, with cleaning or dinner or dishes or farm work
Sleep schedules become basically non existent as well, and it’s a common occurrence to find at least one person up at all hours of the night
Each of the boys has... a moment or two, where it really settles in that they’re human again
For Marko, it’s when he pokes himself while trying to resew one of his patches. He hisses when he pricks his thumb, and when the blood beads up on the pad of his finger he just... stares at it. It doesn’t heal right away, and he can’t even smell it. He sucks on it to try and make it go away, and tasting blood again, when it no longer has the same rush or necessity, makes him cringe. He puts a band aid on it, and doesn’t mention it to anyone.
For Paul, it’s when he goes to a concert on the beach. He manages to get lost in the music, in the crowd, in the loud drums and the guitar riffs and the warm press of bodies and the intoxicating energy, and he doesn’t, not once, think about sinking his teeth into anyone around him. He only realizes about halfway through the second song that he’s actually hearing the music, too, instead of it just being the background noise for a cacophony of heartbeats. He goes home that night drunk on sound and life, and doesn’t know if he’s ever been happier in his life.
For Dwayne, it’s when he has his first cup of hot chocolate after turning back. It’s at the beginning of winter, and everyone is crammed together on the couch to break in the TV that Sam finally convinced Grandpa and Lucy to get. Michael and Sam are bickering about what movie to watch, Paul and Marko are having an animated conversation with the Frogs from their place on the floor, and Lucy and grandpa are laughing about something in the kitchen. They come out a bit later with snacks and drinks, and Dwayne is handed a big mug of cocoa with a heaping helping of whipped cream and marshmallows. He takes a sip without really thinking, and then stops. There’s a moment, when he just feels the warmth spread through his chest and belly, and then all at once it’s like he’s hit with this wave of emotions he can’t quite place, familiarity and relief and joy, and there are tears mixing with his whipped cream mustache. The movie is good, but the cocoa is definitely better.
For David, the first time is when he goes outside after waking up. He’d seen the sunlight through the windows, and knew it didn’t hurt him anymore, but feeling it, actually smelling the fresh air and hearing the birds and cicadas and feeling a warm breeze... it’s a little overwhelming. Michael finds him sitting on the back porch wiping at his eyes, and joins him
The second time is when he notices that his roots are showing, that his hair is growing again. Any cutting or dying was effectively permanent when he was a vampire, since their hair didn’t grow, but now... Getting a reminder that his body is living and changing again is strange. He decides to let it grow out a bit, just to see where it goes
The boys are very touchy with everyone. They were already before they turned back, but now that cuddles involve body heat, they happen much more often
So do visits to the mall, oddly enough. Lucy takes them once to get them some new clothes, and they have way too much fun popping in and out of different shops and all trying to fit in the photo booth at once. They may, technically, get banned from a few stores for causing too much of a ruckus, but that doesn’t stop them from coming back
Dwayne and David both get really into cooking, and Paul and Marko experiment a lot with mixing different things to “remember what tastes good” again. Usually doesn’t have the best outcomes, but they’re definitely adventurous
David forgets he has to sleep sometimes, but he’ll be out like a rock if anyone pulls him into bed or lets him lean on them while watching TV
Overall, adjusting is strange for all of them, but there’s a goodness to it too. Even when things are hard they figure them out eventually, and no matter what they always have each other
It feels like a new life, a new start, where they can finally get things right

Famous S/O HC
This is very self-indulgent cause I’m the type to make up fake scenarios where I’m famous and going on interviews and press tours asfjdks. If you guys want, I’ll make more of these! Oikawa+Tsukishima underneath the cut!
How The Haikyuu Boys Find out that You’re Famous
-Bokuto- (Pro-Athlete)
Tumblr media
Bokuto knew you were an athlete but he had NO IDEA that you were super famous. Like he always thought it was normal for people to come up to you after your game to ask for pictures or autographs ???
I mean that’s why he was so drawn to you because of how much passion you had for your said sport cause duh he could relate
One day when you two were out at the mall, he told you that he needed to get new shoes to work out in and so the two of you went into the Nike store so he could look around
He was looking through the shoe aisle and after almost two hours of looking through the same shelves, he finally found a pair he liked (shopping with him is so time-consuming but that’s for a different day)
when he found a pair he liked, the two of you made your way to the cashier to pay for his shoes. As the cashier was ringing Bokuto up, his eyes traveled up to the large poster/banner that was directly behind the cashier’s area and smiled to himself
It was a colorful promotional banner with a bunch of top athletes from around the world and as he’s looking at the banner, he sees this girl and he nudged you like,” Babe, she looks like you!”
You look up from your phone and sure enough, you’re plastered on the wall posing with other athletes
“ Oh yeah, I didn’t think this shoot would come out until next month.”
Bokuto didn’t even process what you just said but my dude behind the cash register stopped scanning the shoes to turn his head to the banner and he turned PALE.
He even does a double-take cause hold up, is there seriously a pro athlete in front of him?
“ Oh my god...You’re Y/N L/N!”
“ How do you know my…” Bokuto furrowed his eyebrows and looked at the banner again and he even squinted like hold up
AND IT ALL SUDDENLY CLICKS FOR HIM
“ Y/N? That’s you!”
“ Yeah-”
Bokuto can’t even believe it and he totally spaced out when you take a selfie with the guy behind the register with the banner in the background like UMMM HIS GIRLFRIEND IS FAMOUS WHAAAAAA
“ YOU’RE ON A NIKE POSTER OH MY GOD! LOOK YOU’RE ON THIS MAGAZINE WHA-”
Dude is totally making a scene in this store but he does not give a single fuck
As he’s walking you back home, he’s looking up all of your stats and even watches a compilation called “ 100 times Y/N L/N was a beast!” and he’s just shooketh
“WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME YOU WERE A FREAKING PRO ATHLETE??”
“ I didn’t think it was a big deal I mean, you’re pretty famous too babe.”
“ I DON’T HAVE A PROMOTIONAL BANNER WITH NIKE!”
He’s not salty at all he’s just a bit emo cause he felt bad that he never even noticed before
As your fame grows, so does Bokuto’s with his volleyball career. You and him are described as a powerhouse couple and it really hypes the two of you up like THE POWER YALL POSSESS TOGETHER ON AND OFF THE COURT/FIELD/WHATEVER
Lots of training together and joint interviews together like Wired autocomplete or your favorite ~THIRST TWEETS~
“ ~Bokuto could spike a volleyball in my face, crack my nose in two different places, and I’d thank him~ oh my god that’s horrible I would never do that.”
“ I mean, you’ve done it before haven’t you?”
“ That was different anyway, your turn Y/N!”
*passes that clunky ass bucket*
“ ~Y/N L/N, please tie me up and- oh my god this is too dirty I can’t! My mom will watch this!”
If you’re a pro volleyball player, you two get compared a lot and it bugged you at first since you felt like you two were two very different in terms of playing style but after a while, you both started to encourage the idea of your own playful rivalries like comparing stats and wins
But if you’re in a different sport, you two get asked questions like who’s sport is harder or what it would be like if you two switched sports like??? But because you two are in different fields, you both have such major respect for each other cause you can’t even imagine how much hard work it is
He absolutely does not mind it at all when fans approach you two if you guys are on a date. He knows how important your relationship with fans are, especially if they’re younger girls who look up to you as a role model
Bokuto will fall in love with you all over again whenever you crouch down to a younger fan ughhhghgh
He doesn’t care for the paparazzi to be honest. he knows it comes with the territory but he will get a bit protective if they start to get too close to you
“ Hey, we’re just trying to get back home so just let us through please,” but if it continues, he will not give a single fuck about being nice,” dude, what did I just say? Back off!”
Mad!bokuto will be the death of me
He knows how stressful it is being a pro athlete but he will always remind you how proud he is of you and if he ever sees you overworking, he will make sure you take a day off even if that means just napping together all day
Long story short, Bokuto would be amazing to have by your side as you’re navigating being in the public eye and you may quote me on that
-Oikawa- (Actress)
Tumblr media
This attention whore I swear
So Oikawa knows that you act but he doesn’t know that you’re an actress (which is basically the same thing)
Like as a kid you were in commercials and you had a small role in a tv show but it wasn’t like it was super popular.
But what Oikawa didn’t know was that a couple months before you two started dating, you were flown out to America to star in an upcoming and highly anticipated movie
since you were under a contract, you weren’t allowed to talk about it until the trailer dropped and it ate away at you because all you wanted to do was tell people especially your boyfriend
ANYWAY He decided to take you on a date to the movie theatre and as you two were getting popcorn, these girls came up to you two
“ Hi! Is it okay if we can get a picture with you?”
“Of course, how could I ever turn down my lovely fans-”
“ No, not you, Y/N!”
Oikawa is just flabbergasted as the girls hand their phone to him so he can take a photo of you with your fans he deadass thinks it’s some prank
After the girls left, he gave you a weird-ass gaze and asked you what that was about but you just shrugged and told him that maybe it was because of ur mini part in that one tv show
So he thinks nothing about it and teased you that it was so cute how you had a mini fanbase and you weren’t going to lie, it was pretty freaking cool
You guys entered your theatre and got settled into your seats as the movie trailers started to play.
(Oikawa loves watching trailers like this dude is the type to take you 45 minutes before the movie actually begins JUST to make sure he doesn’t miss anything)
As you’re chilling in your seat, you see the trailer to your movie so you do your best to keep your eyes on your boyfriend and the screen at the same time cause you want to see his reaction
The trailer plays and Oikawa seemed to be interested in the movie but again, it’s like any normal trailer UNTIL he hears your voice coming from the screen and he immediately sits up in his seat
“ Wait- was that your voice?”
“ My voice?”
“ Nevermind, I think I’m going crazy-”
AND THEN HE SEES YOU ON THE SCREEN! Since it’s a trailer it was just about five seconds of an intense/dramatic scene but it’s enough for Oikawa to lose his mind
“ OH MY GOD THAT IS YOU!”
This prompts some people in the audience to shush him but Oikawa doesn’t care
“ OH SHUSH THAT’S MY GIRLFRIEND! Y/N! THAT’S YOU!”
“ Toru oh my god yes that’s me but stop screaming or they’re gonna kick us out!” You whispered loudly as Oikawa clamped his hand over his mouth
He’s so happy and he’s beaming with pride so he pulls out his phone and  records the trailer to post it in his group chat cause duh he wants to show the boys how proud he is but when he sees you kissing someone else for .6 seconds, Oikawa just (ㆆ_ㆆ) and stops recording
“ Are you okay babe?”
“ Was that real or CGI?”
“ The building crumbling is all CGI-”
“ No...the kiss.”
THIS DUMBASS LMAO HE’S SO SALTY AND JEALOUS
“ Why didn’t you tell me you were this good?”
“ I- I was always this good! But I couldn’t say anything, I’m under a contract!”
“ But you could’ve told me! I wouldn’t have told a soul!”
That’s a whole ass lie, if he knew, he would’ve bragged about it to Iwaizumi
But foreal, Oikawa is such a supportive boyfriend like as months pass and your following gets bigger, he just gushes cause yep that’s his famous girlfriend ( he will 100% use you sometimes for clout)
this dude LOVES bragging to his friends that he’s dating a famous actress. Like he was always showing you off and hyping you up before but it gives him such an ego boost when people find out the two of you are dating
Oikawa is an attention whore like I said so you know whenever the paparazzi appears, he eats it up and will pose which is SOO embarrassing like pls why do u do this
But there are some days where you don’t want to get recognized and he 100% understands so the two of you will wear disguises as to not get recognized. One time you two ended up getting caught so he just grabbed your hand and the two of you SPRINTED back to the subway
He will have all of your movies on DVD and if your movie is on a streaming service, he will buy a membership JUST so he can watch your movie
Sometimes you’ll come over to his house and he’ll always try to make you watch your movie for the millionth time
“ Toru, can we please watch something else?”
“ But my extremely talented and beautiful girlfriend is in this movie why would I watch anything but this?”
Don’t be fooled he WILL skip through any kissing scenes or scenes where your character shows any type of affection to another character
LOVESSS tagging along with you to photoshoots, interviews, red carpet events ALL OF IT
Red carpet events give him a chance to dress up and lowkey his outfit is always one of the best there. He won’t outshine you per se but fans actually look forward to see what he’ll be wearing and he’s not even in any of the movies I-
Your schedule gets pretty busy once your career takes off and even though there are certain time periods where you’re across the world, it won’t stop him from sending huge bouquets to your set
Basically, Oikawa is such a supportive boyfriend and is overall so proud of how you managed to juggle your studies with your acting career 10/10 best boy
-Tsukishima- ( Musician/Singer)
Tumblr media
You and Tsuki had only been dating for a bit and since it was all still new, he kept it on the down-low because the last thing he needed was his teammates pestering him about a girl
Tsuki knew you liked to sing and write songs but you never told him about how well known you were simply because he never asked
He just assumed it was a side thing for you UNTIL he showed up to practice and some of his teammates were huddled around Noya watching something on his tablet
“ Move your elbow! I can’t see-”
“ Watch your hand-”
“ Shush! I can’t hear her-”
“ What are you idiots watching?” Tsuki asked as he craned his neck to look at the screen
No one answered him so he started to watch the music video and low and behold, your face popped up on screen singing along to your lyrics that he’s heard a million times
Tsuki is a bit taken aback cause why is his girlfriend in such a high production video and why is his heart feeling some type of way seeing you in that outfit
Like lemme just take off my glasses and see that again ( •_•)>⌐■-■
” Where did you guys get that video?”
“ What do you mean, it’s online? She’s trending right now-”
“ God all of her songs are so good I want to see her live-”
“ I can’t believe she goes to school with us-”
“ I wish she would step on me-”
“ Hey, don’t talk about my girlfriend like that,” Tsuki said dryly as he glares at the back of Noya’s head, which prompted everyone to turn around
“ You’re dating Y/N L/N? Ha! That’s funny Tsuki!” Tanaka laughed as he slapped Tsuki in the back harshly
At first, even Tsuki was questioning himself like wait, is he even sure you’re dating? cause this girl in the music video was NOT the same girl he was on the phone with last night
If you had asked Tsuki 10 seconds ago if he would ever reveal to the guys he was dating someone, he would say helllll no but now that he knew about this, he didn’t care about keeping the relationship a secret especially if they were thirsting over his girl
He had all the proof in the world that he was dating you but took the salty approach to prove it to them. He pulled out his phone and shot you a text even though you were in class
Tsuki: Come to the gym right now
Y/N: is everything ok?
Tsuki: just come quickly
You left your class to “use the restroom” and practically rushed to the gym thinking that something was wrong with your boyfriend. You slid into the gym, causing the boys to look up from the tablet and you ignored their shocked faces
“ Where’s Tsukishima?”
The boys slowly did a doubletake from the music video back to you to make sure they were seeing correctly and even though you were a bit embarrassed to hear your song playing in the background, you were just worried about Tsuki
Tsuki walked out to you from behind the guys and you rushed over to him
“ Babe, what’s wrong?”
“ BABE?!”
The boys were shocked and the second years practically FAINTED in your presence
Tsuki pulled the tablet from Noya’s cold, dead hands and showed you the screen,” Care to explain this?”
“ I- Um, it’s my music video…”
“Well are you famous or something?”
“ I wouldn’t say famous…more like upcoming artist?”
And then the next week you’re a nominee for the VMA’s asjfkghdk
honestly out of Oikawa and Bokuto, he probably handles it the best on the outside, he doesn’t make too big of a deal out of your fame but on the inside he’s can’t even believe it
He doesn’t go around shouting to the world that he’s dating the Y/N L/N but he has his own ways of supporting you. He’ll listen to your songs whenever he’s walking in the hallway or doing homework at home and he’ll catch himself liking tweets that are about you as long as they’re positive
He’s def the type to argue with people online if they say mean comments and will report/block them before you can even see it
IDC how much he tries to hide it, he is deadass ur biggest fan. Tsuki will tease you about how nervous you act during interviews/award shows but he will ALWAYS go with you to ease your nerves even if he had prior plans
If you ever write a song for him, he gets SO RED AND EMBARRASSED so pls do that
Will def call you baka for doing so but deep down, he’ll fall in love with you even more cause you’re able to put into words how he feels about you
I don’t think he’ll be too comfortable with you posting about him but he knows he can’t do anything about people taking photos of the two of you out together in public
Tsuki would never be rude to your fans though like if you were recognized during a date, he wouldn’t make a fit and will take photos of you and your fans to speed the process along
He HATES HATES HATES the paparazzi’s like it’s one thing for fans to come up to you when yall are in public but he gets mad when the paparazzi harasses you with questions/pictures/comments
“ Y/N! Turn around and give a smile!”
“ Not right now, I’m sorry.”
“ Oh come on, don’t be shy! Just show the camera a little skin!”
“ How about you shut the hell up before I smack that camera out of your face.”
Head empty, no thoughts, just thinking about Mad!tsuki
It’s a big adjustment for Tsukishima that he has a girlfriend in the entertainment sphere but he knows how hard you’ve worked for it and he would never tell you to stop living your dream
Sometimes he’ll feel insecure because you’re so successful and he doesn’t want to hold you back but since he can’t imagine being without you, he just pushes those thoughts away and enjoys every minute with you

And Everyday was Overcast.
Part One : Hammers and Nails
Billy needed someplace to go when the grave was desecrated.
When his eyes unglued themselves, peeling off eyelashes in their wake, when the earth was overturned, torn and left hanging like shreds of old fabric; Steve had been there. By some miracle he had been consumed like he always was, sat thinking by a plot that had grown yellow flowers to blanket Billy in his eternal sleep. And maybe it was those small visits sheltered between morning runs and eight hour shifts stocking the horror section that Billy had come back.
From the grave. From the brink.
The Earth started vibrating, spidery cracks turning volatile, and Steve was met with ocean blue. Red rimmed eyes locked on his face, hands reaching and gripping. Nails digging in as Steve wrapped Billy's grime covered shoulders in his own jacket. Rubbed the chilled skin of his arms, looked in his eyes, and took him home.
Someplace Billy could wash the day from his skin.
--
The blonde haired boy who had turned from human to creature and back again deserved something more than what he was left with. He deserved warm meals, and sunshine on his skin, and soft bed sheets that opened like a celestial sky when Billy felt like shelving the enormity of what he had discovered. What waited after death.
Steve wanted that for him.
Not happiness, not closure, exactly, but something close to it.
At the root of it all, Steve knew Billy should feel safe. Welcome and warm and comfortable, in the house that Steve’s father had built for his mother all those years ago when she was plump and round with child. Steve felt like his father that day as he carried the last box over the threshold and took in the rigid, tense line of Billy’s shoulders.
He let the moment rest. Let it breathe, as his father always instructed. “Do you think you could feel safe here, Billy?”
The air sat heavy. Cold and wet and warm, somehow, like the morning after a night of heavy rain. Billy sucked in a sharp breath and pivoted slowly, face reverent, as if standing barefoot in a cathedral among gods and heroes. Met with divinity.
Instead he got Steve.
Just Steve, trying not to stare at the lone curl hanging over Billy’s forehead when he offered a tight, controlled smile. “It’s fine.” Billy said, only.
Steve tore his eyes away. Focused on the second story banister to stop his gut from falling through the floor. ”Fine? As in, I would rather eat my own toenails than live here, fine or, like. It's okay, I don't mind it here, I might even like it someday, fine?"
Billy adjusted the strap across his shoulders. “It’s just what I expected it would be.”
Steve shook his head. “What’s that mean?”
"Relax, Harrington, it's." Billy turned again, eyebrows scrunched together. “Its. Pastel. And huge. Obscenely decorated—“
”My mom had it professionally done before they—“
”It was built for a happy family with lots of kids. Lots of love, but now it's. It feels. Lost.”
Billy had started saying things like that.
Heavy, saturated, impossible things that left Steve scrambling. Wishing for the intelligence to absorb the meaning rather than question it. Steve rested the box at the foot of the stairs and offered a smile to the second story. Runoff for the pools of blue that looked on.
"That's a lot of adjectives. I can get you a hotel, maybe. Or an apartment. I could cosign, I know they gave you a pretty penny and you could probably afford your own, but. I could. I would." Steve said harshly. "For you. I would."
"It's fine here. It's okay."
Steve felt like a science experiment. Egg boy with three heads and ten legs or something. Suckers on the tips of his thumbs, the way Billy studied him. Steve counted the freckles on Billy's nose--one, two, three, four--trying to stay afloat.
--
Dinner was made every night though Steve never saw it happen.
The cookbooks sat alphabetized over his mother's antique bar cart on that little periwinkle blue shelf. He'd come home, every night, at six on the dot, to a set table. The mixing bowls were always clean and put away, counters wiped and ingredients stored neatly on the shelves his pantry, but the wooden spoons spelled it out for Steve, still shifting from dark to light as they lay drying on the dish rack.
"You don't have to make dinner, you know." Steve took another bite of Salisbury steak, furious that it tasted so good. Like love soaking into his skin.
Billy shook his head. "I want to."
"I know, I'm saying it's okay if you decide not to, one day. Like if you get caught up reading. Or if you can get Max to drive you to the history museum, or if you--"
"It's the least I can do."
Steve hated that. He let his fork clatter to the table. "I'm not expecting repayment for this."
"I'm not a freeloader."
"And I'm not an asshole." Steve deadpanned, lifting a finger that sewed Billy's smug lips together. "Don't say it."
"Say what?"
"Whatever you were thinking, with that clever glint in your stupid blue eyes."
Billy cracked his knuckles, clearly fighting a smile. "Never thought you noticed the color of my eyes, Harrington."
"Yeah, sure." Steve stood, gathering the plates and forks and knives from the table, his own eyes counting primary threads. "Can see those things from space, Jesus." He finally looked up, at Billy's curiously pink face.
Pink lips, cheeks, nose.
Steve gripped ceramic. Swallowed against a swell of guilt. "You don't owe me anything, Billy. I like having you here. I want you here."
Billy gave a simple, controlled nod.
Steve got used to it.
--
The shack wasn't built until the doctor told Billy that he'd probably wouldn't remember all of what happened. The big things would stick out, neon greens and blues against the forest head, but Billy shouldn't be too hard on himself if the important things got thrown away.
And some of those jagged little pieces were there. The bad things. Anger and hatred, both for self and world, left hanging on the cliff of who he was now. Everything that had formed Billy Hargrove--the person he was, the person Steve had pretended not to notice--were packed away. Soft, silky emotion covering knives left dull and rusted in their drawer.
Billy remembered like flashes of lightening across the summer sky--sudden and then gone. Here and away. He remembered Hawkins high and Max who'd grown six inches in three years. Dustin who had been wearing that stupid shirt when the mall burned down.
And Steve.
Always Steve, sat next to him. A foot away at first and then holding his hand, later, when Owens said Billy should be kind to himself. Gentle.
He wasn't.
And he didn't come out of his room for three days after that, after the wall was placed in front of him. The crack under Billy's door always keeping Steve at bay. Trapped behind the starting line. He paced around on the carpet, lifting his fist and letting it fall again, never breaking up the silence.
Billy was crying.
Billy never cried, anymore, but he cried that night and Steve felt helpless. Pathetic and stupid and useless, locking himself in his father's study and trying to formulate a plan, just like Owens had told him to when the sun fell on a world without Billy Hargrove and then suddenly rose again, set anew.
Set crooked when Billy stormed from the hospital room, slamming doors that echoed like rolls of thunder in his wake.
Figure out a way to help him.
Sterile, eerie white walls stared back at him as Steve shrugged his shoulders on the third day, aluminum hospital chair groaning beneath his weight.
I'm not sure how to do that.
You don't have to do anything. Owens said. Just help him get the emotion out. Let him write, draw, sing, dance, whatever he needs to assist in telling us his story.
--
Potato casserole and red wine bore witness to Steve's leap of faith. Billy turned away from the novel he had tucked under his arm when Steve got home from work that day, eyes curious. "Spit it out, Harrington."
"I'm not sure what you--"
"You've been giving me the side eye since you got home." Billy turned the page in his book, still managing to read both it and the room as he urged, "Tell me what's wrong."
And nothing was wrong, and.
Everything was wrong. Steve leaned forward, elbows on the table. "Do you want to come with me to the art store tomorrow?"
Billy frowned. "I don't need anything from the art store."
"It's not always about what you need," Steve reasoned, patting his mouth with a napkin. "We could get stuff you want. That's all, just pretty things. Nice things. It could be a treat."
"Paper and scissors are considered a treat?" Billy cocked an eyebrow. "I do love touching shit, it's one of my favorite hobbies."
Steve scrubbed at his mouth, swallowing down against a big, fat, crooked smile dripping with affection. "C'mon, it'll be fun. We can get whatever you want; clay, oil pastels, acrylics--"
"I wanted to check out the library tomorrow."
"You go everyday, blue, you're a regular bookworm."
"So?" Billy demanded, taking another bite of casserole. "I like to read. Just 'cause you can't doesn't mean the rest of us have to hold back." He grinned, low and slow. "Don't let your jealousy turn you into a tyrannical landlord, pretty boy."
"God, you're the absolute worst."
Billy turned back to his novel. "The art store will just inspire me to paint nudies."
"So paint them." Steve challenged.
Bait. Hook and line.
"You gonna pose for me if I let you buy out the joint?"
Steve shrugged. "Maybe once, if you look at the easels while we're there."
"No shit?" Billy leaned forward, biceps flexing in his cutoff as he stuck a polaroid of a smiling blonde woman between the pages of his novel. "The fuck is this about, Harrington?"
"I'm worried."
"That you'll take me to a crafts store and I'll put you out of house and home? Reasonable concern, I guess."
"About the diagnosis, dipshit. About you." Steve gulped down the rest of his wine. Made sure every last drop had seasoned his words before any were said aloud, where they might do damage. He let the glass rest on the table between his fingertips, stem rolling from pad to pad. He took a deep, steadying breath. "You haven't been the same since--"
"I got hijacked by a space demon or crawled out of my own grave?" Billy shrugged, picking at something in his teeth. "Be more specific."
Steve fiddled with the handle of his fork. Hand picked his words. Refined the meaning. "Yes, and. Both."
Billy didn't say anything for a while and the room finally settled. Falling fast asleep, thick with inertia and silence until the book was opened once more and Steve went back to digging through his casserole, picking at the spring onions.
Letting the moment breathe.
Until, finally. "I feel like I could crawl out of my own skin."
Steve tripped over himself to get those blue eyes on him once more. "That's understandable--"
"I feel fucking useless." Billy snapped, voice cracking in two, and. Suddenly Steve couldn't look at him. Couldn't bare to see his face. "I'm trying to replay what happened. Every second, I'm trying to figure out why. Why me."
Steve counted the primary threads in the table cloth. One, two, three. "You can't go on asking yourself questions like that."
"I can do what I--"
"It wasn't your fault, Billy. Any of it."
"I'm not talking about the Fourth of July, I'm talking about. Death. I'm talk about what comes before and what comes after and how they're the same." Billy turned the page in his novel furiously, eyebrows scrunched together. "I never thought they'd be the same. It's like I've started over."
Steve couldn't possibly understand, but.
He watched pools of blue scan the page. Took measured breaths, never pushing until Billy was ready to share more. Until he tossed the book on the counter and sighed, head buried in his hands. "I don't understand how I got here."
"Easy," Steve whispered. "That's easy. You were born from love--"
"My parents aren't in love anymore."
"But they were, once." Steve shook his head. "When you were made. They loved each other, and they loved you, and your life was full of love that never made sound but it was still there." Steve willed Billy to look at him. Willed the skies to turn blue again.
They didn't.
Billy sighed, low and slow. "Did love bring me here again?"
"I guess so."
"Who's love?" Billy demanded, leaning forward into the table and crushing his novel where it lay against light oak tabletops. "Who loved me enough to bring me back here? To wish for me."
And.
There were a lot of things Steve wanted to say. Lines he wanted to map out, directions that lead from A to B and back again, but it didn't seem useful. Didn't rest important, as Steve took the novel from its place on the table and smoothed worn pages, tucking the polaroid in its place. "I'm sorry things feel weird for you." He said softly.
Billy grabbed the book, staring down at his casserole. "'S not so bad, I guess."
And, for Steve, that wasn't good enough.
--
Billy worked mostly in charcoal. He painted nightmares, and doorways into the past, delicate, swirling lines telling a story that made Steve's heart ache to see. To hear, with every drag of material across fruited canvas'.
Steve asked him about it, once. Over dinner, with the lights turned low. "Why do you paint such horrible things?"
And Billy had smiled. Bright and true. "How's that?"
"Y'know. Black scabs and eyeballs melting out of skulls and sliding down the ridge of people's faces, and--"
"It's what I see." Billy replied, voice soft. Measured. "It's what follows me around."
So Billy spent every hour locked in his shed, curls tucked over a growing body of work. Fingers turned rotten with charcoal soot as he made sense of what happened.
Steve liked to watch him work.
Liked to see the tension ease more and more from the strong shoulders that travelled beside him up the stairs each night. Steve felt the dig of each pencil in the crevice between his ribs when Billy finished masterpiece after masterpiece.
Still, it wasn't enough.
Along the ridges of creation, therapy lay half buried in the sand. It was state mandated, that Billy go and learn how to deal with the things charcoal couldn't straighten out for him. Like the nightmares, and the migraines that kept him from eating dinner at the table when June gave way to July.
Steve worried. Constantly, fervently, but Billy refused to go, always wiping his hands on the powder green apron Steve got for him at the art store, and insisting, "This is a form of therapy." Billy gestured around the room. To the mountains of loose sketch papers and half finished canvases that lay strewn across every surface. "This is how I cope."
And it was.
And it happened the same way every time.
Things got bad for him and Billy would disappear into his shed. Steve would come home from the office to find that his mother's prized Thomas Kincaid collection had been replaced by Billy's work. It was haunting. Sick and twisted and so, so beautiful.
He found himself standing and staring at it for hours, eyes tracing over the swirling lines of purgatory.
It made Steve feel helpless, but.
Still, Billy refused to go. Still, he buried himself in his work. Still, he painted himself into a hole.
The path toward recovery was littered with charcoal drawings until it wasn't.
Until Steve came home one afternoon to find Billy talking with a little boy who had his throat cut open.
