[Translation] capsule in girls '60s magazine (Feb. 2004)

When I first saw their music videos, the striking visuals immediately caught my eye. Simplistic designs, vivid color schemes on the outfits and sets… I can't describe the style as anything other than '60s-inspired. For the first edition of our "Pick Up Artist" feature, it's one whose existence fascinates me — let's take a look at the charm of capsule.

capsule is a music unit consisting of Nakata Yasutaka, whom manages the sound, art direction, design, concept work and so on, and vocalist Koshijima Toshiko. The reason behind their '60s-inspired visual style

Nakata: To be honest, I don't have any particular attachment to the '60s. I just like unique and minimalistic things, stuff with interesting shapes and clean designs and whatnot. It started when I got into interior design, and at first I especially liked Space Age furniture.¹ That's changed a little recently — I like pieces made out of wood but still with that outerspace kind of vibe. Even when it's made from wood, it doesn't feel natural, it still has this sort of odd look. When it comes to the '60s, I like the plywood that they often used. But I'm intrigued by Karimoku furniture too (laughs).²

— So would you say you're more interested in space and not the '60s?

Nakata: Yeah, and I guess sci-fi movies played a part in that. In movies like Men in Black you often see Tulip chairs, though I don't think they were used to evoke a retro or '60s feel on purpose.³ With films like that I tend to focus more on the furniture and not the overall atmosphere; if anything, I see furniture along with fashion as objects that look nice when put into a scene you're taking in as a whole. I like to come up with unconventional settings. Women are usually depicted in sci-fi films as secretaries, all wearing identical wigs and uniforms, and I like that kind of weird atmosphere. So instead of me consciously liking '60s aesthetics, I wound up thinking they were cool without making the connection that they were from that decade. I also love clothes that incorporate simplistic, striking designs, since they're like spacesuits (laughs).

— How do you feel about wearing clothes like that?

Koshijima: I'm also not obsessed with the '60s or anything, but I like to play around with that era's clothing and makeup styles. It's more fun than just wearing normal clothes.

— Have you two had similar tastes all along?

Nakata: Our tastes used to be completely different. I feel like she's adjusted to match me.

— So Koshijima-san is committed to being a model?

Koshijima: Yep. I haven't changed my approach, ever since the beginning.

— Are there times where you feel like your tastes really are different?

Koshijima: I don't think so. If we actually were fundamentally different, I don't think we'd be working together. Strangely enough, when I look at the materials I'm given, I start to think they're cute. Nakata: When I get an idea, I suggest it first. Koshijima: But he doesn't show me clothes or anything directly, instead he shows me photos and videos… Like I'm being brainwashed (laughs). The more he introduces me to all kinds of cool things, the more similar we become. After I watched the materials he gave me, poses and dance moves just started coming naturally to me without even realizing it.

— Maybe you ran across something from the '60s that left an impression and that ended up coming through in your image.

Nakata: Yeah, there are a lot of easy explanations for it. I wonder if we're more like a new product with a retro design that would fit nicely in someone's living room, rather than something that could be found in an authentic '60s vintage shop. I think even if we intentionally collected oldschool aesthetics from that era and tried to copy those, it'd still turn out differently, because peoples' concept of the '60s and the real '60s are two different things. But if you take parts of that concept people have of that decade and use them, you wind up with something that has the right feel to it. For me right now, the concept I have in mind is the "style" of the '60s. Instead of making clothes or objects to match up with the '60s aesthetic, the styles are already floating around in my head, and then I make content that reflects that. There were a lot of useless shapes — like aren't record players from back then weird-looking? The technology of them and the half-dome shape are of that time, but the way they look on the outside is as if someone was imagining the future while designing them. It's interesting how these days it's the opposite: now the exterior designs of things are retro while the tech inside is highly advanced. And I like both (laughs). I even like things that seem out of place. I'm drawn to a sense of disharmony.

— Would you say the essence of the '60s is woven into your music?

Nakata: Not intentionally. I think the things I like tend to show through my music on accident. Basically I want to make any music, as long as it's cute.

— So do you feel like music is essentially an object?

Nakata: Music is something I started doing because I thought I could create it. It was right when I was in junior high school, they'd made a lot of progress with technology so making cassette tapes became fun. Part of that was because I liked the feeling of winding a tape up. I liked playing around with machines more than the music aspect itself and, when it comes to decorating, I even like the look of a tape deck sitting in a room. So that's why I want our CDs to be sold in regular stores along with other kinds of merchandise. I don't think music should be classified as something special and separate; it's good if it's just one part of the total amount of belongings in a space. Rather than wanting people to listen to our music seriously, I'd be happy if they enjoy the atmosphere it gives when they play it out in the open.

I loveloveLOVE the idea of a FarmSim! AU! Like yourself, I assume a lot of us weren’t raised as farmer’s children, and more or less grew up on Story of Seasons/Harvest Moon. (Altho I do know a bit about living in Indiana, land of the Corn and home of the Indy500, if that counts towards anything lmao). In any case, I hope you like mytake on the Sides!

In terms of Farm Sim tropes, I’d be willing to say that The Royals (Dia, Barb, and ‘Phisto) are a part of some sort of local govt. bc I cannot see them as knees-in-the-mud farmer types lol. Maybe the farm is the “ROYAL FARM OF DIAVOLO” or something to try and convince Dia’s (not-in-a-self-induced-slumber) Mega-Corp father that farms are important, and corpo factories are bad. Diavolo has no idea how farming works but he likes to watch and play with the baby animals. Barb does not appreciate the farm visits bc Dia gets super excited and cannot be told “NO” if he wants to walk across a muddy field and up to a bull like “You are a fine specimen! A complete winner!” Luckily he is blessed with “Animals Love Me” kind of luck. Barb makes sure to get the Young Master dressed appropriately for next time. You need to talk to Barbatos about ordering tools, supplies, and contractors to build/repair things like stables, wells, and greenhouses. Mephistopheles takes care of the buying and selling of animals, and you gotta “prove to him” that you can be responsible enough to handle a horse (he does inspections of the farm and makes EVERYONE take riding/horse care tests).

The angels run the local cafe/store where you can get food and seeds, among other things. They buy your products and sometimes make presents (like sweaters made from your sheep's wool). Simeon and Luke run the Cafe side of things, while Raphael runs the store. Since Luke is a bit young to be running a business, he’s more like an assistant baker and he runs the morning collection at your farm. When he has time, he’ll sing to some of the animals.

Thirteen would probably the the Farm Sim Mine Spelunking Monster Trapper or smth like that? She’ll toss some coin your way if you bring her monster parts or rare ore, and maybe she’ll give you some “recipes” to make mining tools/weapons/traps.

And like... How funny would it be if Solomon just... didn’t change? Like at all? He already fits the “supernatural element” of other farming sims. An interesting and mysterious figure that lives just on the edge of the village. If you come to him with the monster parts/ore instead of Thirteen, he could help artifice some of your farming equipment with special traits, or craft potions that help you talk to animals or w/e.

Okay okay so I totally agree about Diavolo, everything about that is spot on. He's fascinated by farm life, but knows nothing about it just like he is with humans in the game. Totally gets himself dirty because he just wants to experience things! Come on, Barbatos it'll be fun!!

And the corporation dad, that is perfection, too. Of course Dia's trying to convince his dad that farms are good!

Barb is forever suffering lol. While he does have a garden, I can't see Barbatos doing any kind of hard farm work either. He's definitely more suited to getting permits and such, but I could see him frequenting the angels' bakery because he likes to cook. They swap recipes a lot. Maybe he hosts the cooking competition, mostly because I think that'd be so funny.

Mephisto as the animal guy is perfect, you better believe he's gonna make sure your horse area is up to par before he'll even consider letting you have one.

Love the angels running a cafe and store, that's something I could easily see them doing. And oh my heart Luke singing to the animals!! My precious baby son. I kinda see him also being partial to flowers in general, since that's the only thing he's grown in the actual game lol. Maybe he starts making bouquets or perfumes...

Oh man Thirteen as the miner/monster hunter type! She's got a forge and spends untold amounts of time wandering the woods.

Solomon is such a menace and honestly I can't see him doing anything other than being the supernatural being. I keep thinking of Witchie from Story of Seasons/Harvest Moon. Like it'd be funny if he was more like Dessie and lived in a pond, but let's be real, he's definitely the one making weird potions and magic tools and such.

And of course all the characters are also marriage candidates, so if you marry Solomon, he's gonna come live with you on your farm. Spends all day in his wizard tower on the edge of town, but at night he comes home to his lil farmer spouse lsadlkjdfjkfdkjl.

Wow my worlds are colliding so hard right now I can't even deal with it. What I wouldn't give to have all these characters in a game where I could deliberately pursue and marry one of them!

Anyway, I totally love this and your ideas! I'm pretty sure I would do some unspeakable acts to have an Obey Me farm sim game like this.

Riddle Rosehearts

Your dedication to the words and the teachings of the Ancient Ones is very admirable in his eyes. There are many different beliefs in Twisted Wonderland, yours is just one among the many. He doesn’t mind it at all and might even ask questions to gain a further understanding.

He doesn’t understand why you are a VTuber, but at least it’s not a destructive hobby. Sure, you could be doing a lot more productive things, like studying, but you’re not outside causing trouble and that’s what truly matters to Riddle.

He thinks you look interesting. Sure, there were beast-people and mer-people, but you were a full-on hybrid of the two. You weren’t able to put either side away. However, he thinks that you’re absolutely beautiful like this. He will most definitely behead anyone who says otherwise.

Leona Kingscholar

There are a few priests and priestesses in his homeland, so it’s not anything unusual to hear that you were a priestess of the Ancient Ones. He also doesn’t mind, but he’s too lazy to ask any questions about you and your beliefs. If you mention anything in passing, then he will remember it. After a while, he gets an idea of it all.

Another one who doesn’t understand why you are a VTuber. You could spend time cuddling with him instead of entertaining random people on the internet by streaming video games. But at least you’re not getting into any fights.

At first, he thought you looked weird. How could he not? You had tentacles coming out of your back that you had complete control over. Just by that alone, you were pretty strong. After a while, he knows that you got them by picking up a random book. You were as magical as he was, but you were a hybrid rather than a beast-person.

Azul Ashengrotto

He found your dedication to the Ancient Ones very intriguing. In the sea, they worshiped the god Poseidon (personal headcanon, because King Triton is mythologically Poseidon’s son). It seemed like they had similar practices, with certain people assigned to serve the gods in their temple.

Everything was a culture shock to him when he came to dry land. He hadn’t even heard of VTubers until you came along. He’s still very confused by it, but is otherwise supportive. He will bring snacks and drinks to you if he knows you haven’t eaten or drank anything because you were busy streaming.

When he first met you, you made him happy. You both were slightly different from each other, but more or less the same. You both were octopi in some variety, and that gave him hope that he could embrace his merform.

Rook Hunt

He just about worships the Ancient Ones as much as you do. He wants to get you to notice him and maybe even fall in love with him as he did for you, so he will do anything. He is just that smitten for you. Eros has shot his arrows into the hunter’s heart.

I think he would kind of understand the concept of a VTuber. To know that this wasn’t the real you was kind of weird, and it was hard to get used to. However, that made him wonder what the real you looked like. No matter, you would tell him when you wanted to tell him.

He found your tentacles absolutely amazing and beautiful. If you still wanted to dress them up, he would most certainly help you. He gently presses kisses to the tips of them as he gently wraps them up with pretty ribbons to accessorize them.

Idia Shroud

He also gets the general idea of your belief, but that’s because they worship the Great Seven and his dorm just so happens to be based off of the Ruler and God of the Underworld. Again, he’s used to the temple and sacrifice scenes.

When you tell him that you are a VTuber, he gets super excited. He talks about doing a collab soon and how you could become popular in Twisted Wonderland as well as your own world, until you tell him that the figure he saw as ‘you’ was your actual avatar.

He found your tentacles scary at first, but he gets used to them over time. It eventually got to a point where he loves to be gently wrapped in your tentacles because he knows that you are there with him. It calms him down after a stressful day.

Malleus Draconia

His kingdom has a few deities that they worship, mostly the Thorn Fairy. He has even been to one of the temples for when he was deemed the Crown Prince of the Briar Valley. However, the priests and priestesses tended to live single lives, and the fact that you are a priestess tells him that you might not want to be with him.

He most definitely doesn’t understand the concept of a VTuber. He barely knows how to operate his tamagotchi, did you expect him to know what a VTuber was? However, he is willing to learn so he could get to know you better.

He found your tentacles rather fascinating. You weren’t exactly a cecaelia, but a hybrid between an octopus and a human. It reminded him of his knight, Sebek, who was a hybrid between a fae and a human. It was very intriguing to the young Prince.

Lilia Vanrouge

Again, he hails from the same land as Malleus, so he is familiar with priests and priestesses. Not just that, but his time as a military general led him to many lands that had different beliefs. He found it all fascinating, and he will ask you tons of questions about the Ancient Ones that you serve.

Like Idia, he gets excited when you tell him that you are a VTuber. He gets even more excited when you tell him that the ‘you’ he sees is in fact your avatar and not what you actually look like outside of the screen.

He thinks you’re absolutely adorable with your tentacles. If you ask, he’ll help you maintain them as well as decorate them. Your tentacles tend to get a bit ticklish, so he will tease you with soft touches along their slimy surface. You have been warned.

Hey! Did you find the time to read the affc outline yet? I just know people are seething lol. I wanted to ask, what did you think about the Tyrion outline? That he will “witness incest”? Will he see two people and be reminded of Jaime/Cersei because there doesn’t seem to be any other option. Dany is alone and I doubt she will get together with Aegon VI later in the volume.

Moreover, I feel like the pov Prince of Sorrows is Tyrion’s or Tyrion centric nonetheless because I feel “whores go everywhere” is the answer to the constant question Tyrion asks himself in adwd - “where do whores go”. Maybe he finds out about Tysha and it is painful??

I know at this point we can only speculate because we don’t have any evidence to go off on, but what do you think, can we figure out something about the outline?

I've read it but not in-depth. No time, unfortunately. (Employment is a huge impediment to fandom...)

Here are some rambling thoughts, yay!

I'm pretty sure the Prince of Sorrows refers to concept that Tyrion was supposed to have an encounter with the Shrouded Lord (I think?) in a dream of some kind, probably during his near-death at the Bridge of Dream, which was in the Sorrows stretch of the Rhoyne. What snippets of philosophical musings GRRM put under that header certainly fit a transcendent confrontation with Tyrion's conscience. "Let it go or it will become you. Let them go - will not bring you peace." Tyrion's inability to let go of his own trauma and resulting rage (like Dany, like Theon, like Stannis, like LSH, like Bran, like Arya etc etc etc) is utterly the root of his own villainy and future undoing. So that checks out. GRRM cut it, probably because it may have been too heavy-handed at this point in time. He instead opted to show us a Tyrion descending into complete depravity at Selhorys, with any self-reflection deferred to a much later point.

"Witness to incest" is so vague that I don't think we can even extrapolate it refers to any specific action with the plot so much as it's a self-description.

It's important to remember that this informal little note of an outline is from GRRM for GRRM, and these are prompts or reminders that tie into his already existing thoughts. We have no idea what those thoughts are. A phrase like "KILL THE MOUSE" or "witness to incest" can refer to an intended quote, it can refer to a status he wants to emphasize inside the chapter, it can be a personal reminder to achieve a specific moment or plot point, it can be symbolic. Is the Mouse Shadrich, or is it a code for Alayne, who is a mousy-brown creature scurrying about the castle, different but similar to Arya's Harrenhal mouse era? What it does is beautifully showcase how he structures the more pragmatic, detailed bits of his plot around key points he wants to make. Take the Arya notes. "The joy of giving". Obviously, he is working on complex imagery that juxtaposes "taking a life" with "giving the gift", the hypocritisy of murder for hire - and the genuine peace offered to those who come to die of their own volition. Here, too, GRRM chose to hold back on actually going into these issues in the finished product in Feast-Dance, probably saving it for the climactic escape and/or Arya's confrontation with Catelyn's revenant.

Is the incest Jaime and Cersei, which Tyrion has witnessed all his life? Was it meant to tie into Aegon and Dany (who he learns are intended to marry), or to set up something else, or both? GRRM chose to cut it, anyway, so the sentiment may well come back at a later point, much like the insights in the Prince of Sorrows.

Basically, while the emphasis on Sansa's identity is a pleasantly unambiguous support for her (already obvious) trajectory north in GRRM's own mind, I don't think we'll get much else out of this outline that isn't already in the text one way or the other. We shouldn't be too literal with the notes in there because he wasn't writing an explanation of his plot, he was writing an extremely self-referential little to-do list that may be as reliable as the to-do lists I write for myself on a day off: i.e., I end up doing one thing and scrap the rest in favor of lying around on my couch.

Father Figure! Lucifer x Teen! Reader

Chapter Thirteen: You've Done Enough Damage

Summary: (Y/N) has had enough of Eve and Lucifer.

(Y/N) narrowed their eyes as they walked into the kitchen and found Eve all over Lucifer. Apparently they were officially together. (Y/N) was, of course, not a fan. Not at all. They didn’t like any part of it.

First of all, Eve was annoying. She pulled everyone else into her issues, and if there was one thing (Y/N) hated, it was cleaning up other people’s messes. Why should they have to deal with Eve’s ridiculousness on top of the drama they created for themself? (Y/N) was already a trans teenager with mental health issues and a penchant for bad luck. They didn’t need any help from Eve getting into trouble.

Second of all, the crazy antics Eve pulled Lucifer into were getting on (Y/N)’s nerves. Eve had convinced Lucifer to let her come alone with him to help on cases with Chloe. Not only was that a terrible idea since Chloe wasn’t fond of Eve’s affect on Lucifer, either, but it meant that Lucifer was back to being more irresponsible instead of actually productive with Chloe. (Y/N) didn’t like that change. Plus, Eve’s ideas of fun involved a lot of things (Y/N) really didn’t care for, and although Lucifer had refrained from participating in quite a few of Eve’s plans, it didn’t change that he was involved by still being there and letting Eve keep going.

Most of all, though, the issue was with Lucifer. He claimed he was happy and glad he was with someone who accepted him, but (Y/N) knew the truth. They understood that Lucifer was unhealthily coping with the disappointment and heartbreak he had experienced when Chloe was still working through her feelings when she discovered he really was the Devil. Unfortunately, Lucifer’s reaction was to throw himself into acting more like what people thought the Devil was like, and although he pretended to be happy and satisfied since Eve adored him “as he was,” (Y/N) wasn’t an idiot.

Lucifer was unhappy. He felt uncomfortable in his own identity and was latching onto any sort of approval to try to cope with his insecurity. Unfortunately, that meant listening to Eve and going along with her antics for her adoration, even if it was clear Lucifer didn’t really feel true fulfillment from acting like the Devil he was thousands of years ago.

(Y/N) clicked their tongue. Sure, they had some terrible habits due to their own mental health (see: never trusting others completely and usually expecting them to not accept (Y/N) for who they were), but that didn’t mean they’d let Lucifer run around going crazy or let Eve push him into becoming who he wasn’t, not anymore.

(Y/N) turned away from the kitchen and walked away. Something would have to give, soon. (Y/N) couldn’t keep living in the penthouse and see Lucifer let who he was be run into the ground just for some silly approval from a woman who couldn’t see who he really was, no matter how much she was sure of the opposite.

The elevator doors opened, and (Y/N) perked up, hoping to see Em.

Hoping? When did I start hoping to see them? thought (Y/N), frowning.

Still, it wasn’t Em coming back from training with Maze. It was Trixie.

“Trixie?” (Y/N) sat up. It had been a while since they saw Trixie.

“Hey, (Y/N),” she said. “Is Lucifer here?”

“Uh, no. He’s out with Eve,” said (Y/N).

Trixie huffed and frowned.

(Y/N) grinned. “You’re not a fan either, are you?”

“My mom is worried about Lucifer, but she won’t come and check on him, so I came myself,” said Trixie. She looked at (Y/N). “Is it true that he isn’t okay?”

“Kind of true, kind of not,” said (Y/N). “It’s complicated.”

“That’s what adults always say. Be honest,” said Trixie.

“Lucifer is figuring some stuff out about himself,” said (Y/N). “And, being completely honest, it’s a bit tricky.”

Trixie considered, looking at (Y/N), and then nodded, accepting the teenager/fellow kid’s opinion. “What can we do to help him?”

“We can try talking to him, but sometimes he can be pretty clueless,” sighed (Y/N).

“We can team up, then! With both us, then he has to listen,” said Trixie decidedly, sitting down.

(Y/N) chuckled. They weren’t sure if it would work, but they were glad someone else wanted to help Lucifer (and Chloe. So they could both be happy. Together).

The elevator doors slid open again, and Lucifer and Eve walked in.

“Look, I just think you’re holding yourself back because of her,” said Eve to Lucifer. He sighed and looked away uncomfortably as Eve continued, “I just think she might be a little too involved in your life.”

(Y/N) eyes narrowed, and their fingers curled around the red feather necklace they wore in an effort not to show their annoyance. Still, the shadows around their feet curled slightly in reaction to their emotions.

“Oh, well, that is preposterous—Oh, (Y/N),” said Lucifer, brightening when he saw them. He blinked when he saw Trixie. “And the Detective’s offspring.”

“Yeah,” said (Y/N) casually.

“Does your mother know you’re here?” said Lucifer, looking at Trixie uncertainly.

“Yes,” said Trixie.

Okay, so that’s a lie, thought (Y/N), but they weren’t about to expose Trixie. It wasn’t like she was somewhere dangerous. It was Lucifer. He wouldn’t let Trixie get hurt on his watch.

“Well, what are you doing here?” asked Lucifer.

“I came here to make sure you’re okay,” said Trixie earnestly. “My mom said you needed a friend.” She looked at Eve. “But it…looks like you have one already.”

“He can always do with more,” said (Y/N).

“Hi, I’m Eve,” said Eve, smiling at Trixie.

Trixie narrowed her eyes doubtfully and crossed her arms. (Y/N) held back a chuckle.

Eve faced Trixie and (Y/N). The poor woman looked at the pair and smiled before sitting. She was still determined to win them over. (Because third time’s the charm, right? thought (Y/N))

While Lucifer poured himself a drink, knowing this was going to be quite something, Eve sat down across from the pair and let Trixie begin her interrogation.

“Where do you live?” asked Trixie.

“Here,” said Eve.

“Where are you from?” questioned Trixie.

“Far away. I came here for Lucifer,” said Eve.

“No way, really?” said (Y/N) sarcastically.

“Have you ever been married?” continued Trixie.

“Yes. It didn’t work out,” said Eve honestly. At least she had truthfulness going for her.

“How come?” asked Trixie.

“We weren’t right for each other,” answered Eve.

“What do you do for work?” said Trixie.

“I don’t,” replied Eve. “Pretty much just get to be me.”

And convince Lucifer to not be himself, thought (Y/N).

“Well…that’s kinda cool,” admitted Trixie. “What’s your favorite color?”

“Red. What’s yours?” asked Eve.

“I’m asking the questions,” said Trixie, and (Y/N) snorted in amusement.

Lucifer sighed as he watched the back-and-forth continue. “Would you excuse me whilst I do something less mind-numbingly boring, like, uh…color-sort my suits?” He stood up, and none of the people sitting on the couch acknowledged his departure, still just staring at one another.

“…Are you the kind of friend Lucifer needs right now?” asked Trixie softly.

“I hope so,” said Eve gently as Lucifer paused in the doorway of his room before leaving. “I care about him very much.”

“If you care about him, why don’t you accept him for who he is?”

Eve’s eyes went to (Y/N) when they asked their own question for the first time. “What do you mean? I do accept him.”

“You accept the Lucifer you knew years ago. I don’t think you really know this Lucifer,” said (Y/N), gazing at Eve evenly. It wasn’t a cruel statement; it was merely (Y/N)’s thoughts.

Eve furrowed her brow in confusion. “I—”

The elevator doors dinged, and two men walked out. (Y/N)’s eyes widened as they raised their guns. Eve jumped up and pushed Trixie behind her. At the same moment, (Y/N) moved in front of the young girl and narrowed their eyes.

“Lucifer!” shouted Eve worriedly.

“I didn’t think there’d be anyone else here,” sneered one man. “But…can’t have any witnesses, so…” He trailed off darkly and raised the gun higher.

“Please, please!” said Eve, holding Trixie farther behind her.

Two things happened at once. Lucifer’s hand smashed through the mirror wall of his bar, grabbed one man, and pulled him through widely. When the other man’s head snapped towards the movement in shock, (Y/N) curled their hand into a fist, and a shadow grabbed his ankle. Trixie couldn’t see from behind Eve, so (Y/N) didn’t hesitate to drag the man to the ground and knock the gun away from him with their abilities. To anyone else, it just looked like the guy stumbled and fell in shock.

“Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go!” said Eve, hurrying Trixie out of the room, and (Y/N) backed up with them, keeping their eyes on the man they had knocked down.

Lucifer smashed through the other mirror and stalked angrily towards the man. He tried to scramble to his feet, but Lucifer didn’t give him a chance and shoved him back down. The man flew back and hit a wall.

“What the hell are you?!” cried the man, staring at Lucifer. He grabbed for his gun, but Lucifer gripped his wrist harshly, and the man let out a strangled cry.

“Tiernan sent you, didn’t he?” snapped Lucifer.

“Yeah! Yeah!” cried the man fearfully, in pain.

“Dad! Stop, you’ve done enough!” said (Y/N).

Lucifer froze as soon as he heard their voice. He turned to face (Y/N) and saw them staring at him hard.

“Dad, just call Chloe. She’ll know what to do. He’ll get what he deserves,” said (Y/N).

Lucifer’s eyes widened. The same words Eve had used, but (Y/N) was asking him to stop punishing this man. Eve would tell him he was doing what was right. But knowing that (Y/N) wanted him to stop and they would support him not being angry, not going out of his way to cause pain…that was more important to Lucifer. And it would be him acting as he wanted, no expectations from anyone…

Before Lucifer came to his conclusion, however, the elevator doors opened for a third time that night, and Chloe and Dan ran out of the elevator. Behind them were several police officers who immediately went to grab the men as Lucifer backed up.

“Where is she? Where’s Trixie?” said Dan worriedly.

“She’s safe. She’s in the bedroom,” said (Y/N), nodding to the side room.

“Mommy! Daddy!” As soon as Dan and Chloe ran towards the room, Trixie ran out and hugged her parents, frightened and relieved they were there.

They both embraced her tightly, taking deep breaths in relief at her being safe and unharmed.

“Monkey, you’re okay,” said Chloe, tearing up in relief. “You’re okay! I love you, Honey.” She hugged her tighter. “You’re alright.”

Lucifer, Eve, and (Y/N) looked on as the parents hugged their child in pure relief that she was safe. (Y/N)’s hands curled into fists, and their eyes went to Eve and Lucifer. Those men had come to punish Lucifer for something. And (Y/N) would bet Eve had something to do with that.

And (Y/N) never lost a bet.

“Why the hell did those two men come here?” snapped (Y/N) the instant everyone else was gone.

“They were here to get back at Lucifer for punishing Julian,” said Eve proudly.

“You what?!” The shadows around (Y/N) flared to light, and they turned on Lucifer.

He winced and looked away. He didn’t want to see (Y/N)’s disappointment. “I…I couldn’t let him keep hurting people.”

“Damn it, Chloe would have found him! You and I both know that!” said (Y/N). They furrowed their brow in frustration. “So why?! This isn’t you.”

“He punishes people so they don’t harm anyone else,” said Eve.

“Oh, shut up!” snapped (Y/N). “You’ve done enough damage.” They glared at Eve and Lucifer. “I refuse to stand here while you get more and more insecure over who you are and let yourself become who you aren’t. My dad doesn’t harm people when they’re already going to get what they deserve.”

Lucifer flinched, and he stared at his child in horror. He was realizing how much he was hurting them. He had betrayed (Y/N)’s trust. And they were completely right. He wasn’t acting like himself. He was trying to be the Devil, a singular identity that he had left behind. He was the Devil in name, but he wasn’t who he had been so long ago.

“As long as you’re going to keep acting like this and keep letting her convince you to act out, I don’t want to be here,” said (Y/N). Their gaze turned onto Eve. “You want companionship. You want to find who you are. Fine. I hope you find yourself. But tying yourself to Lucifer, making everything about him and trying to make him like the Lucifer you knew, that’s unacceptable. So both of you just…stop.”

(Y/N) whiled around and left the room, leaving their anger and disappointment hanging in the air.

“Oh, my…” said Eve. She looked at Lucifer. “What are you going to do?”

“What do you mean?” said Lucifer dully.

“I mean, Julian’s father obviously sent those men. Shouldn’t we do something?” asked Eve. “He could’ve gotten (Y/N) and Trixie killed. We’ve been looking for the worst of the worst.”

Lucifer took a deep breath and closed his eyes, fighting off the idea of (Y/N) harmed. “Yes. It’s time for Tiernan to get what he deserves. But I need to do this on my own.” I need to make (Y/N) proud.

“Oh,” said Eve, deflating.

Lucifer walked out of the room.

Lucifer pushed Tiernan to Chloe and the other LAPD officers. He had done what was right, something (Y/N) would be proud of. Instead of harming Tiernan, he was ensuring he would be completely punished for his crimes instead of just being hurt by Lucifer. He was being who he really was now, not who Eve had reminded him he had been.

“I…happened to be walking past Tiernan’s office and overheard him talking about leaving town,” said Lucifer, saying the parts of the truth that wouldn’t reveal everything. “As a concerned citizen, I felt it was my civic duty to bring him in so he can properly face the punishment he deserves.”

Chloe looked at him. “Why’d you do it?”

“Someone made me remember who I am. I haven’t been acting like myself,” said Lucifer.

Chloe’s gaze softened. She knew that it was once again Lucifer’s concern for (Y/N) saving him. The pair’s familial bond had grown so strong.

“I might’ve gone a bit too far, recently. I hope it’s not too late,” said Lucifer.

“You looked, didn’t you? You looked for…” She looked around and whispered. “Your wings. And (Y/N) spoke to you.”

Lucifer took a shaky breath. “I did.” He had seen his wings, the result of everything he was becoming as he acted out. (Y/N) was right. He wasn’t acting like himself, and his wings had changed along with him.

“You did the right thing, Lucifer,” said Chloe. “(Y/N) will be proud. You know they care about you. They want what’s best for you.”

“And I want the same for them,” said Lucifer.

“Thank you for coming,” said Kinley to Chloe as she walked in.

“I only came to tell you to stop putting in requests to speak to me; we have nothing to talk about,” said Chloe sharply.

“I’m sorry,” said Kinley, standing in his cell. “I don’t have much time. They’re going to transfer me back to Rome to be tried there.”

“Oh,” said Chloe blandly. “I can’t say I’m sad to see you go.”

“There’s something you need to know,” said Kinley urgently.

“No, there is something you need to know,” said Chloe fiercely. “You were wrong about Lucifer. He is a good man. One might say that he’s even an angel.”

“I need to warn you about the prophecy,” said Kinley.

“Prophecy?” questioned Chloe.

“You see, I thought that the prophecy was about you, Chloe. But I realize now that I could’ve been wrong,” said Kinley.

Chloe sighed in exhaustion and turned away.

“If it’s not you, then who else could be Lucifer’s first love?” remarked Kinley.

Chloe paused.

“You know who it is, don’t you?” said Kinley. “Is it who I suspect?”

Chloe shook her head, not wanting to hear some prophecy about Lucifer’s first love. If it was romantic—and what else could it be?—it would then be Eve, and that idea hurt Chloe’s heart since it meant Lucifer was in love with her

“I just need you to hear the prophecy,” said Kinley.

“Alright,” said Chloe, swallowing and deciding to let Kinley get it out of his system.

“ ‘When the Devil walks the Earth and finds his first love, evil shall be released.’ ”

The words hung in the air in the pale light filtered through the bars, the prophecy as dark as the shadows in the room.

“(Y/N)?” Lucifer knocked on their bedroom door.

“What?” said (Y/N).

It was as much of a response as Lucifer could expect. He opened the door and stepped in.

“I handed Tiernan over to the LAPD and the Detective,” said Lucifer. (Y/N) looked at him silently. “He’s who sent those men. I…I made sure he’s getting the punishment he deserves.”

“Thank you,” said (Y/N).

“I…I’m sorry,” said Lucifer. “I should have never let myself go so far.” He sat down on the bed beside them. “Truly, I’m sorry. That’s not who I am. You’re right.”

(Y/N) smiled and reached over to hug him. “I’m just glad you’re remembering who you are.”

Lucifer hugged (Y/N) back. “Of course.” He knew what he needed to do. He needed to pull away from Eve and find himself again. He needed to be (Y/N)’s dad.

And then Lucifer remembered the office near the LAPD for adoption services, and he found himself imagining getting the papers.

He knew what he wanted to do.

Lucifer smiled and hugged (Y/N) tighter.

i don't like where these leaks are heading...especially the part where daeron would be cut from the show. they're going to divide his book plot between aemond and helaena which will validate #those shippers. i will be honest that the show did give hints to a romance between them, but when the alys leaked audition was released i completely thought they scrapped that idea entirely. this is a HUGE change so if this happens, anything can happen. the characters and the plot will be wildly different...most specially aemond. to me it seems they're cutting him to give way for helaena. and sure i agree that it would be good for a mother to get her revenge but aemond would be divided between harrenhal and the reach. this leaves no room for alysmond to develop or happen. it only opens up room for helaena to be the one who has some connection with alys if alys has seer powers too and not aemond. i now fear that they're really making #that ship to happen because it would give aemond and helaena a good reason to commit war crimes and the revenge on daemon to make more sense. another concern is that they'll cut alys and aemond's son because this would mean he already has son who died and was relevant for the greens motivations. they'll just exciuse it because everything ends with aegon the younger's coronation.

i hate thinking about this at all but those writers would like drama like this. i just hope those leaks are dead wrong but these leakers have been reliable thus far

I'm at odds with most of the opinions expressed here. This will be a lengthy post, so buckle up:

First, I don't think the show provided any significant hints about the Helaemond ship. People are citing two instances to back up this claim - the first one is of baby Aemond talking about fulfilling his duty, had his mother betrothed Helaena to him instead of Aegon. The second one is in episode 9 where the older Aemond busts out this incredible line of dialogue: "I am next in line for throne. Should they come looking for me, I intend to be found." Both of these scenes were set up to establish Aemond's primary characteristics which alligns with him being duty-bound all while having great ambitions for the throne. Now, why would Aemond assume that he was next in line for throne when Jaeherys exists? And to that I offer *in D&D's voice*: AeMonD kINd oF fOrGoT aBoUt HIs NepHeWS!

It's a writing discrepancy and you will find many such inconsistencies throughout the series. Right from Laenor's age in episode 1 to episode 5, Alicent warning Aegon in episode 6 and then acting shocked when Otto says the same thing in episode 9, Luke acting self-conscious about his 'bastard' status in episode 8 only to laugh in the face of someone he maimed shortly after; and many more. Most characters have some major inconsistencies that can be attributed to post production rewrites and editing.

It's possible I'm mistaken, but it looks like people generally scoff at this ship beyond Twitter and Tumblr. On Reddit, the majority of comments are cynical or dismissive towards this pairing. Even those who think it might actually be canon have voiced their disappointment with the theory. In response to you mentioning the changes being made in the show, I completely agree - they are not favorable to TG fans. It appears that the narrative is now being heavily biased towards Rhaenyra's side, with the introduction of Dyana and the potential omission of Daeron from the storyline. None of these developments are positive!

Now with Daeron's storyline, I am sure it will be divided between Aemond, Gwayne and Cole in the chance that he is absent from the show. But I am confused as to which arc do you think will be adopted by Helaena here. I don't think they will have her fighting actively besides her brothers in the show either. They may have changed Rhaenyra's character development in Season 1 to make us think that may happen, but I am not sure about Helaena. She's a dreamer: she might serve a larger purpose later when it comes to predicting the Dance or even the possible demise of House Targaryen as they've already introduced Aegon's dream in the show. Other than that, I don't think she'll take part in any battle strategy.

Now this is obviously my point of view but once again, I am open to discussion. If anyone has taken the time to read through this post and wants to share their opinion, please feel free to contribute.

Tokyo Revengers daddies trying to do their curly haired daughter’s hair

A/n: Race of reader is NOT specified, daughter’s hair is like reader’s hair

for all curly hair types (3A - 4C)

Mikey

- A recipe for disaster

- Mikey can’t even do his own hair you really expect him to do someone else’s?? and to make matters worse it’s a completely different hair texture from his….

- You should have known better than to trust him to do it but you were running late for an appointment and couldn’t spare any more time to deal with d/n’s hair

- You could have done it in time if she had just gotten out of bed the first time you called her but she takes after Mikey with her sleeping habits risking it all just for a couple more minutes of sleep but anyways she needed to get her hair done and you needed to make it time for you appointment

- So you hesitantly asked Mikey if he could do it to which he replied with a loud and proud yes

- He genuinely believed he could do it, had all the confidence in the world how hard could it be? he thought, It’s just hair

- But all that confidence washed away when not one not two but three combs got tangled in her curls

- He didn’t bother trying to get them out it seemed to be impossible

- What he thought would’ve been a walk in the park became a terrible mess for Mikey

- D/n was running late for school and didn’t even have her uniform on yet because Mikey thought her hair would take only a couple minutes

- Poor d/n had tears running down her cheeks saying he’s brushing too hard and mommy is more gentle Mikey replies with a I’m sorry princess I’m trying

- He ended up giving up and didn’t take her to school he knows it’ll piss you off but he much rather you yelling at him once than have to do that again

Chifuyu

- Another dumbass he was confident and thought it was gonna be easy

- He saw you do it with ease all the time so he believed he could do it too

- Did the one thing you’re NOT supposed to do with curly hair….. went to town brushing it

- Had no product in it just brushed/combed it, does it to his hair all the time and it comes out nice thought it would be the same with her

- Was so confused has to why it wasn’t going down but instead getting puffier and puffier

- Got so puffy to the point where her entire forehead and eyes was covered by her hair

- She ended bawling her eyes out because she said he made her look like Bob Ross

Shinichiro

- He’s always trying to one up himself at being a good dad and husband always striding to make your life easier

- He sees how much time you spend on your daughter’s hair everyday and still have to do yours

- Thus him asking you to teach him because he wanted to eventually be able to take turns doing her hair, make it easier for you and give you more time for your hair

- you found the idea extremely sweet and agreed

- Absolutely struggled the first couple of times

- Always made c/n cry because of how ugly he made it

- But is getting better the more and more he practice with it

- It’s super cute watching them both get excited when the style he did actually came out good

Ran

- He surprisingly has this in the bag

- Ran is the type of person that 100% believes in self-care especially when it comes to hair, he often spends hours in the bathroom on a weekend doing a precise step by step hair routine that make his hair long and silky and makes him feel relaxed

- He wanted to do the same for you but your hair was obviously different but did that pose as a problem for him? No!

- One day he went to the hair store and with the help of Google and kind ladies who had the same hair as you he purchased all the oils, gels, shampoos and conditioners for you hair type

- He also watched YouTube tutorials on how to style and take care of you hair

- Whenever you allow him he’ll do your wash days/ hair routine for you

- So if he can deal with your hair he can deal with his daughter’s

- Thus making you not worry when he insists on doing it

- Howeverrrr he may know a lot about you and your daughter’s hair type but at the same time there’s things he doesn’t know

- One day when it was his turn to do her hair for school he decided not to put it all in one like you usually do and you urge him to do as well when he’s doing her hair for school

- Thinks she should embrace her curls, let them free show the world how defined and pretty they look

- As much as you would love to show off her curls there’s a reason why you don’t especially for school…..

- Nearly had a heart attach when she came home and the neat and defined curls was now frizzy and puffed out with all kind of random things like leaves and pencil crayons stuck in it

Rindou

- Complains about how long you take to do her hair claims you shouldn’t take that long it’s easy

- You got pissed off at him as you should and decided he’ll do it next time to see how “easy” it really was which he agreed to

- Did he eat his words

- Rindou works out all the time but boy did his arms hurt from less than 10 minutes of de-tangling

- Nearly lost his mind when he put her hair into a bun for what felt like the 100th time but still had hairs sticking out from all directions

- You would have let this madness continue but bro was using way too much hair gel would’ve ended up being a pain to you to wash it all out so you took over

- He felt bad about what he said before and got a voucher for you and d/n at your favorite hair dresser for a month

AU where Tanjirou is a shapeshifting Tanuki instead of a human.

Backstory is that before Tanjuro and Kie ever had any children, Tanjuro came across a little tanuki during his trip to get wood. The creature was gravely injured and out cold, it would probably be eaten if left alone. So, taking pity on the poor thing, he decided to bring it back home to nurse it back to health. His wife joked that they could use this opportunity as practice for when their little ones come along and they loved it so much that they decided to name it Tanjirou. After a few months, Tanjirou was all healed up (the only evidence that something had even happened was a huge scar on his forehead) but instead of leaving, he wanted to repay them for their kindness by taking care of them in return, so he reviled that he is a shapeshifter to them and turned into a human boy so he could truly become the eldest son of the Kamado family. As the years flew by, Tanjuro started to grow weak with sickness and Kie became busier and busier with the babies. They couldn’t be more thankful of the tanuki as he took over the charcoal business and household chores, blessing them with the opportunity to rest easy. And even when the day came that Tanjuro passed, Tanjirou still stayed by their side, wanting nothing more then to keep his human family safe. However, staying shape-shifted for long is tiring and Tanjirou has to be carful to rest enough that he doesn’t pass out or lose form when out in public. So after a productive day in the village, he could feel the drain on his body, threatening to slip at any moments notice. So when Saburo offered to let him rest at his house for the night, he felt he had no choice but to accept it. When he finally arrived the next morning, he found that he had not only broken his oath to protect them, but that he had a new goal: turn Nezuko back into a human. And so Tanjirou begins his journey into becoming a demon slayer and finding a cure for his sister. All while still trying to hide his true nature from everyone (except Nezuko, Tomioka, Urokodaki and the squad after trusting them).

It isn’t until after the mugen train battle that his secret is reviled. He had pushed his limits too far and used his illusion magic to protect Rengoku from Akazas fatal blows, they both needed to be carried by Kakushi by the end of it. When the news that Tanjirou had faced off against a upper moon 3 demon reached the rest of the hashira, they practically bolted to the butterfly estate to check on him. However, when they got there, his bed was completely empty. The idea that he could be outside or even kidnapped was passed around, but their attention was snatched away by Kanroji’s squealing. She pointed at Rengoku resting form and in his arms was a little tanuki with a very familiar scar on his forehead. Before anyone can even begin to question it, Tanjirou (still in a sleep dazed state) slides out of the bed and poofs back into a human, planning to just walk out to get a glass of water. But when he notices the pillars, he turns stiff as a statue (literally). After a bit of calming down and a short explanation later, Tanjirou ends up giving a small demonstration by making his tail appear and the hashira don’t know how to handle it. Kanroji is squealing so hard that only a dog can hear it, Tokito somehow appeared next to him and his petting his tail intently, Iguro is on the floor, Kocho is blue-screening, Uzui’s thought have gone somewhere we don’t need to know about, Shinazugawa feels like he’s burning up, Tomioka is ready to cut a bitch, Rengoku is still busy catching Zs and Himajima has no idea wtf just happened.

imo, what do you think G5 does better than G4, and vice versa

G4 started on a very strong foundation and was the result of a coherent vision being executed with a minimum of corporate meddling. It also was given a lot of time to fully develop its world, and the show's production wasn't transferred to a completely different creative team at any point. It's hard to beat that.

G5 was developed first and foremost with the intention of producing a good story for a good movie that could perform well in theaters, and creating the rest of the franchise seems to have been kind of secondary to that (who cares about the consequences?). Obviously, it didn't get to be released in theaters, but the movie is still probably the strongest part of G5 so far. I haven't watched the G4 movie yet but I think most people who've watched both consider the G5 movie to be better.

G4 benefits a lot from its main characters. Twilight is a know-it-all and she basically allows the show to introduce whatever random advanced magic they want, which is pretty convenient. Pinkie gets to break the fourth wall. All of them have strong unique personalities and are larger than life, and it's great fodder for episodes that explore their flaws and how they handle new or difficult situations. G5 doesn't benefit nearly as much from this kind of energy.

On the other hand, G5's main characters are less likely to get into an argument with each other or get annoyed by each other. They're chill and generally seem more like real people than over-the-top cartoon characters. I think the conflict in early episodes of Friendship Is Magic was for me a bit frustrating to sit through at times, so G5 generally having less intense character conflicts is not necessarily a downside for me.

Some of Make Your Mark's character portrayals are confusing to me. In particular, Sunny's ultimate ambition was achieved in A New Generation and she wasn't given any meaningful goals or motivation to replace that, and Zipp's detective cosplay is shown without any hint of irony or any lampshading, as though she were actually doing a good job. I think Zipp will end up being hired by Hitch by the end of Chapter 6, but they could have picked a better way to get there, like if they properly showed her learning how to be a detective instead of just having her bring out her pointless magnifying glass or recording voice memos. I don't think G4 had these kinds of issues, and it was generally clear what the characters' motivations and desires were.

G4 has better writing, pacing and humor, especially compared to Make Your Mark. There are a number of scenes in the latter where the plot doesn't progress and the characters accomplish nothing.

I liked "Dear Princess Celestia". It seems to have been generally a good way to make sure that each episode actually had a meaningful moral. Make Your Mark is a bit messy on this front, as are some later G4 episodes. I think in some cases Make Your Mark attempted to have two characters independently realize the same moral, but it didn't seem very justified or meaningful.

Make Your Mark's big ambitious idea seems to have been to put Opaline and Misty into basically every episode, even though Opaline stays in the castle and can usually only interact with Misty. It works, and the portrayal of Misty is very interesting and not something G4 was able to do, but there are a few episodes where it's just an unnecessary distraction that doesn't meaningfully progress the plot.

I think it was probably a mistake for them to have two concurrently running shows that needed to be coordinated together, even if it was necessary in order to allow MLP to have some sort of presence outside of Netflix. The need to avoid continuity issues produced weird results like Sparky not appearing in Tell Your Tale until September 2022 even though he was introduced in Make Your Mark in May 2022. Tell Your Tale does demonstrate you can tell a good story in 5 minutes, but it seems to be held back by having to be secondary to Make Your Mark. They don't seem to introduce new recurring locations, for instance, and there are still a bunch of continuity issues in spite of the efforts to avoid creating them. Having concurrently airing shows on YouTube and on Discovery Family worked in G4 because the Equestria Girls shorts were literally in an alternate universe and couldn't really affect the Friendship Is Magic episodes.

G4's music has a certain charm to it, or at least the well-remembered songs do. Sure, it's Daniel Ingram using the same instruments over and over (aside from the orchestral arrangements in seasons 8 and 9), but he didn't otherwise restrict himself to a particular genre or style in his songwriting. The music of Tell Your Tale and Make Your Mark is consistent in terms of production quality, but maybe too consistent. All of it is made to sound like it could have been on the radio in the last 10 years, and some of the songs sound a little too much like they were precisely modeled on, you know, "I Gotta Feeling", "All I Want For Christmas Is You" or "Uptown Funk". A New Generation's music is easily more memorable, but it's harder to compare since it only has a few songs and they're so qualitatively different from everything before and after.

G4 tends to miss the mark when it tries to incorporate allegories for social issues, and it doesn't help that (at least in season 1) they made Pinkie sing about the respective situations. A New Generation does it quite well, but the rest of G5 basically doesn't bring up those themes again (aside from Make Your Mark Chapter 1, and the less said about it the better).

A New Generation's 3D animation is beautiful, but the way they got Atomic Cartoons to use Boulder Media's leftovers was clearly not very good. If Hasbro had kept the animation in-house they might well have avoided some of the silly production problems that Make Your Mark ended up with. The show being 3D also evidently massively restricted what locations they could explore and what non-pony species could be shown, and it was probably pretty expensive too. I think it's probably for the best that Make Your Mark isn't going to be the main show in 2024. Friendship Is Magic's animation did not suffer from this kind of weird inherent logistical flaw. It was simple and not detailed but looked fine, and was appropriate for the resources that they had to produce the show.

I know some people still hate how Tell Your Tale looks but it doesn't seem to be something that Hasbro was ever concerned about, oddly enough, given that the show looks exactly the way that it was internally pitched within Boulder Media in 2019 (even though they didn't end up making the show themselves). I personally don't mind it, although it looked a little weird to me at first. It's nice that they tried something different and gave the ponies stylized and varied body shapes, which G4 didn't have much of aside from, like, Bulk Biceps.

G5's first-party toys generally seem to look better and more show-accurate than G4's, but G4 seems to have had a lot more variety and just generally more stuff in the toy line.

The G5 tie-in video games generally seem to be better and more fleshed out than most of the G4 ones (aside from My Little Pony World, in which nothing of importance happens).

Overall, I think G4 would win in a fight. G5 is only two years old, though, so maybe if we wait a few more years it will be a more even match. Or not.

there's one thing that I don't understand, why was the new writer of Eldarya and MCL took over the writing and made Chino step down while she was the creator ?

Are you referring to Eldarya ANE's writer? No, he has nothing to do with this decision. If you check the credits page you can see that Eldarya has multiple people working on the plotting of the stories:

The creator/art director is the person who has the original idea of the game and characters and makes decisions on how the plot should evolve. The creator basically decides characters' backgrounds, how the story starts, how it ends and main plot points. This person is Chino.

Then there is the proofreader (I guess it's also called product manager?), who is the person that decides what happens in each episode and reads the script of the game written by the writer and makes changes. This is the person that sets the tone of the episode and tells the writer how characters should behave and what kind of interactions they should have. Chino used to do that at the beginning of TO, until the management of the company decided that someone else should take over. This happened I think between episodes 20-22. One of the last things she personally worked on was Leiftan's spin-off, since then she has no idea what's been happening in Eldarya episodes anymore.

Then there is the writer, who is the person who actually writes the whole script, the actual dialogues, but they are lead by the project manager, so they don't make decisions on the plot. This person used to be Hikaru until episode 29 of TO, after that the current writer arrived, they wrote episode 30 and the whole ANE.

That's why, despite Chino having left, episodes 21-29 don't feel extremely different, because at least Hikaru was still there and knew the characters and their personalities, but you can see that the events in the plot had already started to make little sense. That's when Eldarya stopped having any flirting and fluff and we were only given a few random sex scenes, almost as if to tick a box to say yeah this is still a romance game. Also the whole Blue Sacrifice, the LIs' backstories etc plotholes over plotholes because they decided to change the scenarist mid-game. And it's my opinion that the second project manager clearly didn't bother to pay attention to the previous 21 episodes nor try to really understand what was Eldarya's real story. I know this story now (which is what I'm explaining in the fic) and I can say that it really doesn't take an effing genius to follow a simple plot. Nor be consistent with the characters' real personalities.

I am angry with the writer who messed up Lance, Leiftan and Nevra, but in truth the guy only arrived when TO was over, the project manager/proofreader should've told him on the first day "look, this is wrong, you should make the character behave like this instead". Why didn't they do that? Why did the company decide to risk messing up the game by removing the creator and making work someone else on the scenarios? And why make this person work also on another game (uncoven) instead of focusing on the one they had just assigned them? I don't know, I'm not Beemoov's CEO. All this seems so absurd to me, who would ever make such stupid decisions? The same people who decided it made complete sense to remove love interests from otome games apparently 🤡 I'm sorry if I sound really salty. I loved Eldarya with all my heart, I'm never going to get over the fact that this game died because of shitty managerial decisions.

I've been reading your analysis of Sasha and I would like to ask: You seem to defend that Sasha's actions are of her own fault entirely and that theyre not an indicative of her parents being abusive or negligent.

While I agree that they may not be abusive, shouldn't the fact that you seem to interpret Sasha as someone who has never been told no in her life be a sign that her parents did fail to properly raise her? Considering she's only 13, isn't it fair to place some blame on them? After all, we're mostly a product of how we are raised.

I apologize if I misinterpreted your words in any way.

This is actually a fair response and even in my last post on this, I argued that the divorce DID fuck her up. Hell, that they used too soft of hands to cradle her. By 13 though, especially with such an upbringing, you are starting to be your own person. Deciding what matters to you. Worse yet... Soft hands can't mold. They can't influence properly. So yes, they could have and should have done a better job at stopping Sasha from hardening her self aggrandizing ways but well... Parents make mistakes.

We all do. It's part of being human. And while we may have explanations, very few of us have excuses. After all, your argument effectively pushes the blame to literally ANYONE other than Sasha. After all, why didn't Oum and Bee try to reign in their daughter's friend? Why did Anne listen to Sasha when her parents taught her better? Why didn't Marcy decide to just stop hanging out with Sasha if she was so mean to her so often? Or hell, go broader. Why didn't her TEACHERS ever tell her no? Why didn't other kids ever stop her?

ANYONE could have told her no, made her face consequences, but instead they kept playing her game. Kept letting her live the base idea that she herself constructed.

That's also only IF her parents were soft. I'm theorizing just like anyone else but with what I've seen of people in my life, it's very possible that some other reason might be the explanation for Sasha's behavior. Hell, her youngest appearance has her screaming "Stop right there, EVILDOERS." She likely got that from a show or cartoon and that might have put the idea of her being a hero into her head. Her parents and everyone else thought it was just a kid playing around like kids do and so literally no one but Sasha is at fault.

It kind of exemplifies why "If everyone you meet is an asshole, maybe you're the problem," that I think applies well here. Sasha and her blatant disregard for morality is still the core problem here, even if others could have tried to temper it. A lot of morality after all is basic empathy. Many decide not to steal from an abandoned wallet not because it's illegal or the like but because they are empathic enough to recognize that it'd suck if their wallet was stolen and when they got it back, their cards and cash were missing. There's a reason why the golden rule, the thing you rely on when nothing else guides you, is "Treat unto others how you wish to be treated." A moment of asking if you'd be okay with this being done to you.

The thing that makes Sasha so terrifyingly effective though is that she DOES have empathy. It's part of what makes redemption for her possible but she doesn't use it to empathize and treat others kindly when we first meet her. Instead, she finds that nugget of you that means the most, empathizes with that desire to see it blossom... And then twists it as hard as can so that it serves HER. Any argument you give her against her intentions, she'll throw back at you as doing it for your own good like we say in Reunion and she'll shut it down due to her hero complex. After all, her version of the golden rule is "Do unto others what serves me, for my happiness equals EVERYONE'S happiness."

BUT the saving grace of Sasha is that she's not a complete narcissist. A lot of people are pawns but the second you come into her circle, you HAVE to stay. This is how Reunion is in character. She wants things to be the way they were but when faced with the choice of keeping her circle by having both Anne and her die, or letting go, she chooses the latter. It's a break in her personal image that she has to deal with but the price of losing one of those she holds dear is too high for her to pay otherwise. In S2, we see the fallout as she lashes out against this, hates the moment of weakness and thus wants ALL control to fix it and S3 shows it swinging the other way. Sasha is now TERRIFIED of that circle ever being broken again so now she's terrified of Anne's opinion of her, terrified of power when it comes to Anne... And doesn't want this same experience with Marcy, thus why she tries to rationalize her circle with Marcy being permanently broken so she just write Marcy off.

She is the character to me that needed the ten years THE MOST. Needed to craft an entirely new identity to be able to handle proper empathy with who she wants to be versus who she believes she is. Otherwise, she was vulnerable of falling into an equally destructive but inverted relationship with Anne where she is entirely at ANNE'S beck and call.

There's a reason why I REALLY like Sasha, especially since the writing on her is SO GOOD that despite only getting maybe a tenth of the show in screen time, the show actually does explore this stuff and give good reasons each time a transition needs to happen with her. She is the TIGHTEST of the writing in the show and probably the part that most proves that if Matt Braly wanted to tell a story as serialized as ATLA, he seems very capable of it.

And honestly, the show never tries to excuse Sasha so... Why does the fandom? It just wanting to not have Sasha have been a monster? Is it projection? I don't know but it's interesting to me that THIS topic is the one that has had a chain of asks going for as long as my genuine hot take of Marcy and Sasha not individually being main characters.

If it is projection though, maybe take a page from Sasha then and ask what it is you're doing and if it's the right thing. I learned that lesson the hard way coming out of High School. I didn't blame my parents, friends or society though. I hit rock bottom because I was an asshole and made myself better. It wasn't easy, it wasn't simple and I'm STILL dealing with the ramifications of effectively destroying my own confidence and ego back then (you all EASILY see the most confident face I can put on and even then, I try to admit I'm not omnipotent or anything like that.)

But if you really want to redeem yourself and make up for the past, excuses aren't going to do that. Showing you can learn and change does. That you recognize the past and don't want to repeat it. Almost like that's one of the lessons of Amphibia. To face change rather than try to dismiss it or run from it.

Oh, and this will be the last blog I do about trying to excuse Sasha's actions like this (except maybe discussing how Grime actively encourages her worst impulses, either by accident or on purpose) kind of for the reason I stated in the second paragraph. The idea that I could keep arguing why one source doesn't work but that if you're looking for an excuse, you'll find one anywhere around her. Sasha likely did that too before Amphibia so as to never have to change and that's part of my point with this being HER fault.

Open questions for @jess-moloney-malarkey to answer since she's such an expert on Jess and her behaviour:

Why didn't Jess attend Complexcon? She lives in the area and she even claimed to have designed the booth that was set up (the very poorly designed booth with one tiny rack of clothing, a bunch of blank spaces, and pictures they couldn't be bothered to hang up). Renell attended this event and even worked at it. Jess owns half the company but couldn't show up for one day to work and be with her best friend (according to you)?

Why hasn't Jess addressed the fact that her shop website is down and has been down for over a month? After directly "selling out" a bunch of merchandise. If you Google the mark of scam shops online, one of the biggest red flags is that they will sell out a bunch of things, and then the website will close. Another red flag is that they don't have a clear or posted return policy. Explain how Jess is so business savvy and awesome but instead of taking care of any of this she just went on a bunch of vacations and got her hair done instead

Where is Scotch? You know, the beloved dog she had for so many years that just straight up vanished and she never posts anymore? I guess you'll claim something like "she doesn't need to post about him all the time" but she damn well needed to do it for many years before she met Jamie. Including birthday posts in honour of him so...why no more of that? Where is this dog? Is it alive? okay? Or did he "just need his privacy" because "harassment"?

Why do you ignore the multiple sources on why it's not a good idea to have recovering alcoholics around non-alcoholic beverages? Can you even read one source that explains it and maybe acknowledge that there's a reason to be concerned?

Please address the posts Jamie has made about struggling with his sobriety and not feeling supported in his journey for sobriety and then address the fact that very shortly after that Jess took him to a bar for his birthday where he looked miserable and was featured in two photos before vanishing for the night.

Explain what Jess's specific job was when she was attending conventions with Jamie and sitting by him at his booths and photos ops for almost an entire year. Just being a "good girlfriend"? or "Supportive"? If Jamie needs that kind of support because he's "so socially anxious" around everyone how come he's done so many conventions alone after the fact? What was Jess doing there? What was her job? Why was she sitting along side him like she's the celebrity too? Are you aware of how unusual this behaviour is for the girlfriend of a celebrity to do if they aren't also part of the event themselves?

Explain how Jess was a "professional level runner" but never ranked in any marathons or completed nearly enough to actually qualify for Iron Man (as she claimed) and then conveniently broke her ankle (or something) right before she'd have gone on to do Iron man then quit sports forever despite this being her "dream" profession or something.

Explain why Jess claims to have a degree in marketing from LCF but then in an interview she outright says that you don't need a degree to do her job instead of saying something like "I have a degree in business/marketing which helps a lot to run a business and manage talent"

Explain why the Ice Studios shop falsely advertises merchandise

Explain why the Ice Studios shop promotes merchandise they've never sold or had in stock

Explain why the items in the shop are two or three times the price of extremely similar products you can buy from more reputable websites.

Explain why the Ice Studios shop never had a return policy for their clothing?

Explain why if you contact Ice Studios to try to get anyone in customer service they never actually respond to you.

Explain how Jess can do all this work sitting in Jamie's house and never leaving it when it's a public facing marketing job.

Explain why Jess wouldn't want to show up to events with her clients and friends and businesses that she's allegedly co-owner of.

Explain why Jess lives in a different state from where Ice Studios is located and a different country from where her management offices are.

Explain why there's only 2-3 verifiable people that she may have represented (years ago at this point) who aren't celebrities at all and if you Google them you'll find that officially they are actually managed by other organizations.

Explain why Jess had at least 6 different high profile jobs in the span of a couple of years before leaving to start her own business which died in 2019 (when she stopped updating her website)

Explain how she met Jamie if it wasn't through nefarious means such as trying to become his manager or actually becoming his manager in order to exploit him into a relationship?

Explain why Jess claims to be associated with people and businesses she clearly isn't associated with. Just because she adds her hashtag to posts doesn't mean she has anything to do with these people. Ice Studios isn't affiliated with Tommy Hilfiger, Lily-Rose Depp, Billy Eillish, or any number of people and things that she tagged the studio for.

Explain why the vast majority of these people do not acknowledge, thank, follow, like, or comment on things she does.

Explain how she "worked so closely" with Vivienne Westwood but any photos she has from events that she allegedly attended were photos she stole off of Getty Images and tried to pretend were photos that she took herself?

Explain what exactly a Senior Press Officer for Vivienne Westwood was doing to "style" someone like MGK when that wasn't her job. She was a PR Spokeswoman for the company she wasn't a designer she wasn't a photographer she wasn't a model. Her dressing someone like MGK wasn't in her job description and if she ever had actually styled him she'd have been credited somewhere for doing it.

Explain why MGK despite being one of her close personal clients ignored the ever living hell out of every post she ever tagged him in trying to get his attention? You know, since they are such good friends and all.

Can you answer or defend literally any of these questions? Or ar you just going to pretend like none of these raise valid points then twist everything out of context, grasp at straws, and claim I'm delusional instead of actually defending this woman, since you know there's "so much proof" that I'm wrong.

You know how game companies release a barebones product and then patch their way to a cohesive and complete game? Anyways, here's something about P5AU!Naoto’s Persona awakening ft. me probably breaking P5’s lore.

For the AU, Naoto’s Personas are Laelaps and Fenrir, both of which are canines. My reasons for picking them are linked on the page (and so will this post), but for convenience’s sake, here. While I was finding suitable Personas, Laelaps was one I had considered, but held off on because he didn’t sound like a rebellious figure.

I reviewed the awakenings for the Phantom Thieves and noticed a few things. One was that they embraced their ‘role’ as an outcast and shed any pretense of trying to fit in with what society had to say about them, whether it was directly mentioned in the speech or not. The other was, obviously, the rebellious spirit.

Naoto is someone who needs to acknowledge her other self, so she isn’t the type who could have P5’s awakening steer her towards the direction of being happy with herself.

So when she acquires Laelaps, it feels more like an incomplete awakening.

Since every PT had some kind of commentary on (Japanese) society, Naoto probably needed to do something similar. I apologize for repeating myself on this point again, but the post would not look cohesive without it. Naoto is a private investigator, but she works much more closely with the police than her canon self does. She’s seen a lot of cases where, well, cases are put on a backburner because they aren’t important, officers putting an end to their investigation to wrap it up faster instead of properly seeking the truth™.

This obviously does not jive well with our resident detective, so when the opportunity arises, she channels her rebellious spirit that is fed up with how incompetent the police are and resolves to help those the police neglect, and you get the idea.

She has this rebellious spirit, but she doesn’t fully embrace being a rebel. Some part of her still tries to fit in with what society expects of her, and that’s where the P4 part of things comes in.

Naoto’s gimmick in P4 is about sexism in the workforce, but I feel like it could be sexism in general. I’ve linked this video before and it’s pretty old now, but P4 came out in 2008. The fact that this 2018 video existed shows that what Naoto’s gimmick was trying to critique was still a big problem and may be one still.

Being treated like she has no place being a detective, why is she still here if she’s going to become a housewife one day, people treating her like she’s fragile just for being a woman (see the image of her social link script below), just to name a few things wears her down, but she doesn’t complain.

On a ‘Naoto’s main gimmick isn’t this but it’s still relevant’ note, there’s her perfectionist attitude. As a Shirogane detective, she believes any mistake or show of weakness on her part will harm her family’s legacy and with Akechi being the more popular detective, Naoto feels an added pressure to be perfect.

A third thing I noticed about the PT awakenings is that they’re a little selfish and it’s not a bad thing. She doesn’t allow herself to be selfish and live for herself. She also just flat out thinks her hangups aren’t that bad compared to other people. There’s a lot that overlaps with her canon self, but the important part is that she doesn’t allow herself to express anything isn’t annoyance at police or acceptance that things will always be like this.

So by facing herself (literally, you bet I’m having that stupid bastard show up), accepting her negative thoughts, allowing herself to be selfish and understand that she’s allowed to feel things, and finally ignore what society has to say about her, Naoto becomes more like a rebel and Laelaps evolves to Fenrir.

I think that makes sense. Maybe.

I don’t want to make this part a separate thing, so on her Persona skills.

You can find a list of skills I’ve compiled from all the Persona games here. I don’t bother with the 8 skill slot limit because that requires too much work and I’m too lazy for that, and I don’t write a lot of action scenes with her Persona so whatever.

Laelaps only has the elemental skills, bless and curse, and one weak-medium physical skill and Ma/Rakukaja. It represents that Naoto hasn’t reached her full potential yet as a Persona user. At least, the lack of many physical skills (to me) conveyed a more... “refined” kind of vibe since these give me the impression that they can be cast from farther away compared to a physical skill. Fenrir gives her more physical skills and the instant kill ones, Heat Riser, along with a stronger attack stat because Naoto’s finally letting herself go feral as a treat.

I literally do not want to look at this anymore take it away from me.

First night since M has arrived on the ship, and she cannot sleep!

As was predicted, M didn’t even try to sleep that first night. Honestly, who would’ve, in her situation? Like you’ve incredibly impulsively decided to join a crew of monster pirates one day to get away from life and medical fees, where you immediately have your entire world turned on its head with dimensional travel and sometimes-flying boats and wizards with guns. She would’ve congratulated anyone who had slept soundly that night, really.

As a replacement to sleeping, M had instead chosen to lay in her surprisingly-soft hay bed, staring up at the wooden ceiling and listening to the quiet creak of the ship as it rocked along with the currents. She heard the other crew members nearby snoring softly, rhythmically. Yeah, staring at the ceiling was getting pretty boring.

M sat up in her bed, looking ahead of her. To her left slept most of the other crewmates.

She noticed that “Here Comes The Sun” by The Beatles seemed to lose his… Sun-ness when he slept, now looking more like a pile of robot parts arranged in a humanoid fashion. The old drawer next to him seemed to glow faintly, fluctuating in brightness every couple seconds. Odd.

The wizard with a shotgun and her husband slept not far from “not-quite-Here Comes The Sun” by The Beatles, the two seemingly buried in a pile of hay and wool. Why were there so many animal products on this boat?? Nonetheless, the bed/pile of hay and wool seemed rather cozy, M had to admit. She doubted the two would wake up anytime soon.

The vampire slept furthest from M, or.. any of the crew members for that matter. They were in the darkest area of the room, their umbrella laid loosely over the top of them, only kind of shielding them from the light. M wondered if they had ever had a coffin to sleep in.

The weird puppet thing slept closest to M, literally looking dead. Like. She wasn’t even kidding, it was completely still, it looked like a normal doll when it slept. The only way M could tell the thing was even ‘alive’ was by twitching in its feathered arm every few moments, being the only thing that would move.

Squid captain was also down here, surprisingly enough. He slept fairly close to the doll, turned away from both herself and whatever the fuck the puppet is.

A few other crewmates slept in other places around the space, looking just as knocked out. It was very dark here. She remembered always having a passion for looking at the stars, specifically in complete darkness with no artificial light to obstruct the view.

M pondered the idea. They were out on the ocean right now, right? Surely there’d be some stars above deck.

She stood quietly, with a small grunt getting her limbs used to moving again. Mr. Squid stirred nearby, but otherwise no one moved. M made her way to the ladder above deck, climbing the old wooden railings onto the main deck.

The boat swayed under her feet, creaking softly in the currents. The fwoosh of occasional wind whistled in her ears. Otherwise, it was completely silent. The contrast to the typical daytime atmosphere from this morning almost gave M whiplash. Moonlight bounced off the surface of the ship and the water around it, giving it a soft glow in the dark blue.

M tilted her head to the sky, where numerous stars dotted the black screen above her. Some gathered in clusters while others drifted away to their own areas. They were mostly white, but M could see slight variations in the colours with some appearing more orange, and others looking more blue or even red. It was beautiful. Just what she had been hoping for.

There was a slight movement out of the corner of her eye. She moved her gaze to her right, where the stern of the boat was. She saw the old wooden wheel against the black, spotted background. M realised it looked… weird. Something was off about the scene, but she couldn’t place what.

M squinted at the wheel, trying to find what was making her perception give off warning alarms in her brain. Then she saw it. Against the dark sky, almost floating in the air were two.. shapes. She stared at them, was her brain tricking her? On one of the shapes were two bright yellow circles. They stared back at her, unmoving.

And then they blinked. M gasped. They were eyes!

She let her eyes adjust to the image, and realised the stars seemed to stop at a certain point, close to the shapes and the wheel. It made a humanoid silhouette.

“Oh my god!” She exclaimed, the realisation hitting her. Holy shit it was the weird shadow man. Shadow fellow. She hadn’t seen him below deck, hadn’t she?

The “shadow man” began to laugh, a hollow, metallic sound, those bright yellow eyes momentarily closing. He shifted for a second at the wheel, before regaining his composure.

“Hey, kid! Getting some air?” He called from the wheel.

“Uh.. yeah, something like that,”

“Struggling to sleep, I assume? Most new members do, don’t worry,”

“What are you doing?”

“Steering!” He tapped the wheel’s pedestal, “Someone’s gotta make sure we don’t sail straight into an island.”

“Oh.. Yeah, that makes sense. Do you usually do this?”

“Just me? Nah! We swap shifts, my turn tonight. Not like me or Apollo get tired anyway, so!”

“Apollo? The “Here Comes The Sun” guy?”

“Yep! Still don’t know what reference that is, but yep!”

“Huh… Wait, so, is it just you two who man the wheel, or do others?”

“Others do sometimes, but it’s usually us or Puppet!”

“The doll?”

“Yep!”

“Does it not need to sleep as much either?”

“Not really, I think? Being honest, I’m not totally sure!”

“Huh! Alright? ..Y’know, why don’t you talk in pirate speak? You’re pirates, aren’t you?”

“‘Course! Can’t you tell from my hat?” Shadow man tapped his hat, “I think Naut’s the only one who actually talks in pirate speak here, though! Most of us didn’t even start out as pirates,”

“Hhhuh… You’re all weirdos,”

“And you’re one of us now, love! Get used to it!”

“Hey, I have a question!”

“Shoot me! .. Not literally!”

“Why doesn’t the vampire sleep in a coffin?”

“That’s a thing? I think she mentioned she used to sleep in one, but maybe it gets too cramped or somethin’! I dunno! That’s a question for our lovely Delilah herself, I’d say!”

“Okay!”
