I have WAYYY too many feelings about this episode. Like omg??

I will try to make this as comprehensible as possible but it’s 11:30 and I’ve been up since 6 and I’m REALLY EXCITED

Huyang holding Sabines helmet was so sad and it felt like he was kind of mourning her and I swear I almost cried

(Technically last episode) Hera getting there BARELY too late made me so sad

I saw Rex in the corner of the screen and I was like OH MY GOD ITS REX LET HIM TALK PLEASEEEEE

I retained very little of that scene I was so focused on Rex

He had like 5 words BUT HE TALKED

HE DID IT

He didn’t take his helmet off BUT WE HEARD HIM TALK TO AHSOKA

AND IN THE CREDITS IT WAS CAPTAIN/COMMANDER REX

I actually had such an emotionally reaction to him being called commander. I was for a week but IT STILL HAPPENED

And most importantly Temuera Morrison as Rex FINALLY 😭

I CANNOT get over how young she looks. Like obviously we could tell in the animation in the first few seasons that she was young but she looked soooo much younger live action Mandolore compared to animated Mandolore. It hurt me. She’s so young.

AND THE FACT THAT WE GOT TO SEE LIVE ACTION MANDOLORE AND AHSOKA DESTORYING GROWN WARRIORS AT 17 😭😭

I love her

And the young Ahsoka actress (Ariana Greenblatt) was amazing all the love in the world to her ❤️❤️

And Jacen. Being able to hear Ahsoka fighting??? AMAZING

The fact that Jacen saved her? I will never get over that.

BUT AHSOKA BEING UPSET THAT ANAKIN IS COMPARING HER TO HIM BECAUSE LOOK HOW HE TURNED OUT AND THEN HER HAVING THE YELLOW EYES??? AHHH

I can’t be 100% sure but I’m pretty sure the way she defeated Anakin is very similar to how she defeated the inquisitor in Tales of the Jedi. I could be reaching tho idk

And I have to mention it. Ahsoka without the headband in live action was a massive jump scare. I made like an actual noise and recoiled a bit lmao 😭😭

But her being like Jacen is here?? And the way he ran up to her and hugged her and she hugged him back you KNOW she’s auntie Ahsoka. She spent enough time around that kid to be that cool aunt that’s also a Jedi.

Her being ohhhh you heard me fighting huh? I know she already knew he was force sensitive (I mean come on he’s Kanans son) it she was like 😏😌😃

ALSO THAT KANAN FULL NAME DROP. I LOVE IT. THANK YOU

So the New Republic is like “yo you did a bad thing we’re coming to pick you up” and Hera’s like “aw shit really?”

Then AHSOKAS like “hey what if we used the thing that Ezra used to get IN THIS SITUATION IN THE FIRST PLACE” amd Hera’s like “damn u right” so Ahsoka does her Jedi communication thing

AND JUST GOES IN THE MOUTH OF THE SPACE WHALE??? CAUSE WHY NOT I GUESS???

But yea

I love Carson with my whole heart he is everything to me

He’s like “I’m so ducking done with this but I know it’s the right thing so imma lie even tho I might get fired. Cause this new gov is kiiinda bs but it’s still okay. U go Hera u got this and I’ll always back u up” AND I LOVE THAT ABOUT HIM!! I love Ahsoka but he’s #2 especially in this episode

So he’s like “lol look I wasn’t lying”

And I just have one lil question.

What happened to that whole thing where the purrgil were ship destroyers? Like that’s their whole introduction was in Rebels where everyone’s like “These things are dangerous they just wander and destroy ships don’t go near them that’s all they do”

And then Ezra (I think I don’t exactly remember) is like “actually they’re pretty smart. Also they use hidden hyperspace lanes to travel. So they’re actually pretty cool” and THAT was just a thing in like season 2 or something wayyy before the finale.

But now they’re just weaving their way through the ships??

I guess you could argue that Ahsoka was like “hey could you not” and/or the captains were moving the ships around the purrgil but still they’re known to be super destructive even if the ships try to avoid them?

Idk whatever not that important

I CANNOT PHYSICALLY WAIT FOR NEXT WEEK IM SO HYPED THIS WAS DEFINITELY THE BEST EPISODE SO FAR

I can’t wait to get an update on Sabine thooo

WE STILL HAVE 3 EPISODES LEFT THO THEY BETTER NOT DO THE FINALE EPISODE FLOP THAT KEEPS HAPPENING.

I SWEAR.

Anyways overall amazing episode I love seeing Ahsoka and Anakin banter and also fight and Jacen being force sensitive and Huyang and Carson AND HERA OF COURSE!! LOVE HER

Discussions of Queerness w/ Luca and Nico

Short little thing, a scene that wouldn't be in Blackwater Depths but generally alluded to. Nico asks questions in his normal fashion, Luca keeps up to the best of his ability.

“Luca, how did you know you were trans? Or queer? Or whatever?” Nico sits down heavily next to where Luca is slowly sipping from a beer at the edge of yet another one of Ellis’ summer bbq’s. He jumps at the sudden influx of words from the younger man as he sits down on his knees next to Luca. If he didn’t already know how old Nico was, he would have expected he was a teenager, he had one of those youthful faces.

“What?” Luca asks, deep confusion evident in his voice. He would have expected Nico to ask someone like Ellis this question. “I thought you would ask Ellis a question like this.” He states. Nico shrugs.

“Ellis knows a lot, and he’s helped a lot over the years too! But he can only do so much, he’s not trans.”

“Mmm… fair enough. A… are you?” Luca has never been good at conversations like this, he doesn’t come out to people unless he has to because no one needs to know. He’s queer but he just wants it to be left at that, there’s better people to talk to for community than him, especially with his missing decade.

“Yeah! I mean. I guess? I’ve gone by Nico for years but that’s just because I wasn’t super comfortable with my birth name, not that I hate it or anything, it’s just not what I wanna be publicly called most of the time. I…” His eyebrows knit together and he bites his bottom lip.

“I just, while I’ve known Ellis since I was little because he helped out my mom when I was young, and there’s a few other queer people my age in town and have been. I just… never really started thinking about it all until recently. Well. The gender thing, I don’t know. I’m pretty ambivalent about it all, I never grew up with harsh restrictions or even thinking about it until the last handful of years.” Luca follows to the best of his ability, Nico talks fast and talks with his hands, he processes it all, but takes a moment to do so. He reaches up and scratches his cheek and sighs softly.

“I haven’t always known. I really didn’t care ‘til I was a teenager, things started feeling just slightly wrong. I did some research and realized that I think I would have been a lot more comfortable as a guy. Sort of a guy. Man adjacent bisexual, queer as hell.

“That’s just what I’ve been calling myself, queer.”

“S’a good word. Simple, easier than describin’ whatever might be goin’ on. What do you wanna go by?” Luca settles back in the shitty little lawn chair he dragged down, looking over at Nico, who turns his eyes to the sky in concentration.

“I think I just wanna add on a ‘they’ to what I already have going on. For now. That’s nice. Like you!” Luca feels himself flush a but when Nico looks at him again, the kids smile his bright and wide. Kid. The man is almost in his late 20’s. Still, they’ve got a youthfulness to him that Luca loves and is also drained by at times. He raises his beer in a little cheer.

“Fuck yeah, t’ queerness.” He doesn’t shout it, but he does knock his can against the bottle of whatever Nico has in their hand. They laugh, eyes bright.

“Yes! Fuck yeah!” Nico knocks his bottle against Luca’s beer and the two take a swig of their respective drinks.

“You gon’ tell Adelaide?”

“Why would I tell her?”

“Now don’t be dense, your crush on the pretty school teacher is about as obvious as mine on a certain bait shop owner.” Luca gives Nico a little grin, chuckling when the other flushes a bit. Luca didn’t talk about his thing for Ellis out loud much, not even to himself, but he’s not gonna be dense when he knows Adelaide and Nico rib him all the damn time on said infatuation.

“I’ve brought it up before with her, on occasion, she’s patient and she knows a lot about that stuff.”

“We’ve got us a nice lil group of queer people here it seems.” Luca chuckles, Nico mostly thinks it’s just the four of them; Luca, Adelaide, Ellis, and him. He won't bring up the last individual at this moment, it’s not his to talk about. But with the way Finch and Nico work together and how Nico annoyed his way into a friendship with the guy, he might find out eventually.

“We do! And there’s others, it’s so cool that there’s so many in the area.’

“We flock together, don’t we?”

“Who flocks where?” Ellis’ deep voices sounds, Nico and Luca looking up as the bear of a man walks over towards the two of them.

“Queer folk flock to one another.” Luca says with a smile up at the man. He laughs and nods his head.

“Aye, that we do! And I couldn’t be happier for it.”

My work boots are the most expensive shoes I’ve ever owned.

Also the most comfortable. I chose them after trying on several different brands and comparing lifespan vs usage vs comfort - I needed them for a physically demanding job, not the weekend hiking trails. I could have easily chosen cheaper boots that would have lasted long enough to be worth their low price, but I know the Sam Vimes Boot Theory and knew weaker, less comfortable boots would make my life harder in the long run.

So when the outside edge of the heel started wearing down after three years of heavy use I went to the shop I got them from and said “hey this is a common problem for me with how I walk but now it’s affecting my ankles and knees and I don’t wanna have to buy a new pair, is there a way to fix this?”

The salesman at this very fancy upscale boot store said “oh yeah, there’s a shoe repair place that can give you some heel guards - it’ll keep the rubber from wearing out.”

So at 8am this morning right after my 9hr shift ends I went to the shoe repair shop and it is the most hole-in-the-wall, is-this-a-real-business-or-a-mafia-front, am-I-gonna-get-shot tiny cinder block cube I’ve ever seen in my life. I grew up plenty poor and love me a good hole-in-the-wall business, but going from upscale store to this cash-only repair shop gave me whiplash. Wasn’t expecting this when a guy who wears three piece suits to sell boots said it’s the best place to go.

The skinny kid behind the counter looks somehow 16 and 25 at the same time, but when I tell him this place was recommended he smiles and says to hand over my boots. I hand him the vaguely warm foot-smelling boots, and stand in my socks in the 3’ square entryway surrounded by every color leather polish you could buy and watch as he turns my boots around in his hands, sizes up a crescent moon bits of plastic, and unceremoniously hammers tiny nails through them before handing them back.

The heels are perfectly level again. I can walk without almost rolling my ankles. They don’t clack loudly on the pavement or feel different. This is gonna fix my knee pain. It cost $10.

This kid had every tool he needed within arms reach, worked fast and smoothly, I was in and out the door in less than 8 minutes, and it only cost $10.

I didn’t think anything could cost only $10 anymore. I’m so used to hyperinflation prices I was spiritually thrown back to the 1400’s visiting the cobbler in town square. This kid might have been that cobbler and just decided to never die.

I’m still reeling from the whiplash, and gobsmacked at the price, and thrilled I didn’t have to go buy new, worse work boots (cuz I don’t have that kind of money for a second pair, I’m expecting these ones to last a decade) and it feels like I just experienced one of the rare little chunks of magic that floats around our world.
