feat. Katsuki Bakugo x fem! reader
Cw: angst, death, blood
˗ˏˋ+ ´ˎ˗ In which, Katsuki and Y/n used to be best friend only for their relationship to fail when one starts to feel romantic things and the other isn't sure what to do with it.
❝You're my best friend, I'll love you forever.❞
+ You Get Me So High by The Neighborhood
Tumblr media
Standing underneath a cherry blossom tree like in a romance manga novel, Katsuki’s bright ruby eyes stare at (e/c) eyes. With a bento in his hands and rosy cheeks, he confesses his love to his middle school friend, “I love you.”
He could see the girl in front of him tensed up as her shoulders raised and her eyebrows twitched. Katsuki could feel his heart thump as the girl, Y/n, continued to stare at him not peeping a word.
He didn’t know if it was normal for a heart to beat so rapidly as the corners of his lips twitched when Y/n smiled at him. Besides the wind rustling, an airy breath of chuckle rang in Katsuki ears. His heart dropped when he heard Y/n’s words, “Thank you. But, I’d rather stay friends.”
His eyes drooped as he watched Y/n walk away. His hands gripped the bento, eventually the contents in it fell on the bright green grass. With a broken heart, Katsuki walked to his dorm, wishing to forget this embarrassing moment.
Katsuki’s confession happened when they were both in their 1st years. After that, they’ve never spoken a word together. His heart panged throughout the year when his friends would ask what happened between the two.
Though around their second year, his friends eventually stopped when Eijiro would tell them to not get into his business.
It did hurt though when Katsuki’s friends mentioned Y/n. It hurts so much when Denki told him they were the best duos, their quirks matched each other and if they were to be together, they would be inseparable. A part of Katsuki hoped that Y/n heard Denki’s words.
Denki’s words brought Katsuki back to when he and Y/n were in middle school. Both smile when they talk about their future. How they’d open an agency together with Katsuki being Y/n’s sidekick. Katsuki smiled but then grunted as he punched Y/n’s arm.
In his bed, Katsuki smiled at the memory though it was immediately replaced with a line. No matter how much Katsuki wanted to confront Y/n and repair their friendship, Katsuki knew it wouldn’t work. In Katsuki’s mind, their friendship was over because he had to confess his love.
Some days, he wished he was a time traveler. If he knew beforehand that his confession would tear their friendship, he’d never usher a word.
But the thought of staying quiet killed him, he wanted to know if she felt the same way. If Katsuki had to think, he would say his love for her grew when he saw her handle people from harassing her. How her face would turn stone cold and she threatened them in a low voice.
In Katsuki’s words, Y/n wasn’t like those girls who wanted protection. Y/n protected herself and she’d protect others even if it meant dying. It was what led her to her downfall.
And now, in their graduation gowns, class 3-A took a group photo as this would be the end of their high school years. With Aizawa next to his students, the class smiled and cheered, throwing their caps.
The class then wished everyone a good life as they went their separate ways. But Katsuki’s red eyes searched her (e/c) eyes. His heart once again thumps as they meet for a brief moment before Katsuki is pulled away by his parents.
Katsuki wouldn’t know, but that would be the last time they ever see each other.
After 5 years of doing hero work, Katsuki was proud of Y/n reaching the top 5 hero rank. He would never say it, but Katsuki would watch and grin as he saw Y/n take down villains whenever it aired on tv.
He was proud of her, and he hoped she was proud of him as he was the number one hero. His only wish now was to see Y/n.
But his wish was cut short when he stood in front of a billboard, his hands gripping his umbrella so tight that his fist turned white and the look of panic over his face. He watched as the love of his life was hanging on by a thread.
News reporters were up in her face as she seemed to be out cold and blood dripping onto the white sheets as she was carried into an ambulance. Flashes of photos were shown on the billboard.
A news reporter narrated as the paramedic didn’t have time to take the hero to the hospital and even if they did, she wouldn’t make it in time. They had to perform their own surgery in front of thousands to see.
With his hoodie over his eyes, people nearby wouldn’t know that the number one hero was tearing up. Katsuki's ears listened as people around gasped and prayed for her safety.
Then it was declared; the number 4 hero, Y/n, died of blood loss.
Months after months, her fans, friends and family mourned her death. They dropped flowers and gifts at her burial site wishing her lovely words. Even some heroes and those who were not well known came by to drop gifts. Some did it for publicity stunt while others, like her classmates, did it to honor her.
But one in particular wished to never see her burial site. Katsuki scoffed as he read a blog about Y/n and its title; The Heroic Hero Who Killed The Villain Along With Herself.
As much as Katsuki hated it, he finally got over her death, but not Y/n. It only took 3 years.
With his mind cleared of negative thoughts, he finally got to see her burial site and wished her luck in eternal life. Knowing that someday, they would eventually meet again and this time, Katsuki would rekindle their friendship and not let her leave his grasp.

For You
@st-hedge always creates great art but this evening I saw this picture and had to write something for it. hopefully they don't mind i gave it an lu twist for angst (please dm me if that IS an issue)
--
“They call it the Downfall Timeline,” his husband murmured, features highlighted in resplendent bronze from the sunlight streaming across the balcony. “Those two exist only because of tragedy.”
Link threaded their fingers together. The backs of their hands shined with destiny’s humbling curse. “A tragedy not your doing.”
His husband sighed. Funny, that such a soft sound should come from such a fierce man. “Perhaps. Still, I cannot deny that my soul harbors—”
“We’ve been over this,” Link interrupted. He used his free hand to gently tilt his husband’s face toward him. “You are responsible only for yourself. You cannot control what happened in the past, or in other timelines; only what you choose to do with your life.”
“I want to believe you, I always do. But still, there are times…” His husband trailed off, ashamed to admit what they both already knew to be true.
“It’s alluring, isn’t it?” Link asked knowingly. “That kind of power, just waiting to be picked up? Hells, even darkness has a draw.”
His husband kissed him on the forehead, then the cheek. “Like you’d know.”
Link smiled, then flicked his husband over the heart. “I really do,” he said, waggling his eyebrows.
Finally, Link got what he wanted; his husband threw his head back and laughed. The world was richer for it. “That’s because you’re some wretched deviant,” his husband teased. “You’re not supposed to—”
“Wretched?” Link interrupted again with a huff, fakely affronted. “You think I’m wretched?”
“I notice you don’t deny your deviancy.”
“Well, nobody’s perfect.” Link poked at his husband’s upper lip, amused by the large canine tooth this revealed. “But I'd argue I have impeccable taste. I’m basically an artist.”
His husband snorted loudly. “If the world depended upon your ability to draw a recognizable stick figure, we’d all be doomed.”
“That’s the rudest thing anyone has ever said to me.”
“I seriously doubt that.”
Link didn’t bother hiding his grin, but his amusement faded altogether when his husband once again glanced at the street below. The Downfall Duo met up with a larger group; nine heroes in total, just like the rumors had warned. They didn’t look like much, but that meant nothing when the goddesses were involved.
“Practically children,” his husband murmured, “yet still they frighten me.”
“Forget them. They’re not here for us.”
“I’m not so sure.”
“Gan,” Link said, taking his husband’s face in both hands. “There’s nothing to fear. We turned our backs on that cycle long ago.”
His husband shook his head. “I doubt they’d agree. They’ll sense me soon enough—sense us. The Triforce will see to it.”
Link shrugged. “So what? Let them come. They’ll see for themselves the life we’ve made, how wonderful it is.”
The sun dipped below the rooftops. His husband’s eyes emitted a faint glow when he tilted his head. “And if they decide I’m a threat anyway?”
Link pressed his lips together and hummed, tangling his fingers in his husband’s long red hair. “If it comes to that, I suppose I’ll have to kill them.”
His husband shook his head slowly. “You’d kill Farore’s blessed, your own spiritual kin?”
Link leaned in, his breath ghosting against his husband’s lips. “For you? I’d do terrible, terrible things.”
And Ganondorf could only chuckle as he swept Link up and slotted their mouths together. Everything fell into place as it always did when he had Link like this. “Pray it doesn’t come to that,” he murmured at last, fighting the chill that destiny held over their shoulders.
“They better,” Link told him.

How would you rank each season and why? What did you like and dislike about them?(Including wildbrain if you want to)
ooooooooooh okaaaaaaaay fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiine
*cracks knuckles* Just remember you asked for this
Buckle up bastards and bitches, we're tearing this shit apart!!! Going from worst to best so we can end on good taste!!! *loads my opinions into a bazooka like Lloyd with an Ice Cannon*
Rebooted- *drags hands down face* ....I really don't actually hate NS3, but as I mentioned on another post, a lot of things this season tried to pull off (read: practically everything) at least one other season did better. And I know it's not really this season's fault that it's such a mess, since it was whipped up in a whirlwind of unexpected serendipity, and it had less time to explore its ideas, but when people only truly remember and constantly bring up the worst parts about it, rather than few (if not far inbetween) good things that it brought to the table? Or people consistently straight up forget other things about it (primary shoutouts to Techno!Wu and the ninja going to literal space???) Yeah, probably not a great season overall.
Pros: Fun aesthetic, wasn't afraid to try new things, attempted to expand and build on previously introduced ideas, did well with the emotions and aftermath generated by Zane's sacrifice, Pixal, killer music, X-1 Ninja Charger, Sensei Garmadon, had the agenda of getting people back into Ninjago after it supposedly hit its grand finale and did succeed in that if nothing else Cons: Absolutely breakneck pacing to the point that its hard to recall what happens where, when, and even why, you could literally take out like 3-4 of the episodes (half the season!!!) and very little would be ultimately impacted, poor execution of: the established character arcs, dynamics, and motivations within the season (with exception of Garmadon); the attempts at further world building; and the ultimate impact of the antagonists (...people rave about Cryptor but he doesn't even really do anything!! And why did they need to bring the Overlord back at ALL—if this was really something of a Zane-centric season, Cryptor would've already been the perfect foil for him!! AND WHY PYTHOR. I AIN'T ACTUALLY MAD ABOUT THAT TBH BUT WHY THEN)
Hands of Time- This season's biggest issue is that it's...boring. Technically doesn't even do anything wrong, but even when trying to follow a mystery as big as what the heck happened to Nya and Kai's parents, or watching Lloyd begin to come into his own as a future master, or exploring the downfall of two ex-Elemental Masters who turned to evil...it comes off so...stilted and stale. Literally an episode is called 'The Attack'. The whole show is full of attacks, this gives me nothing!!! (But, to be fair, most of the other ep titles this season are pretty kickass). It's like NS6 in the way that a bunch of things happen (and not even nearly as incoherently) but 85% of it doesn't have any lasting or satisfying pay off, and most of it doesn't really mesh in a natural way either. A lot of it feels very contrived, with events happening just for the sake of it happening, and that probably contributes to why it's not quite as compelling as other seasons, despite absolutely having the foundation to be.
Pros: Has an interesting way of drawing parallels between several characters, added a good chunk of lore that generated fresh interest, Kai and Nya Sibling duo, introduced villains with unique motivations and complex history with the main character (directly or indirectly), Jay got that cool bike moment, getting to meet Ray and Maya, actually mention of Skylor being a "bad guy" previously and exploring some of her insight of that, previous EM info + flashbacks, Cons: ...executes a lot of the best things about it in such bland and unsatisfying ways, and could have been much tighter with tying its events all together–would've helped the ending (whether it was a "cliffhanger" or not) feel a lot more deserved and less....empty.
(Also not a real con for the season itself and its literally just a nitpick but I hate those outfits. How are they simultaneously overly-detailed yet so monotone??? There's no pleasing contrast nor a place for the eye to comfortably rest! How are my eyes to last beholding a season with THAT fashion?? This is literally the only time where the gi are a distraction to me because they're...clunky, in a way? But...y'know, given that impression, I suppose they do fit the season to a t, then— *bricked*)
March of the Oni- This season is like a collections of puzzle pieces for a good finale season...but, someone lost a few pieces from the box. Or a lot of them. Isolated, there's a lot of good bits that could've really thrived in a normal season format...but, once again, the limited number of episodes strangled the potential out of its own plotline, SO. Plus, it feels extra weak following off the heels of Hunted's already high stakes, and with these stakes supposed to be even higher, it just doesn't quite hit in the way it's supposed to. That being said, there's a lot of fun and/or intense character dynamics and moments interspersed throughout, and the ending was so cozy and bittersweet but lovely that I can't be too upset with it. It stuck the landing it wanted to, and I can respect that!
Pros: Very strong character moments, (mostly) well-placed use of nostalgia, beautiful music, and overall a suitable little wrap up to "Masters of Spinjitzu" Cons: Not enough room/time to let some plot points breathe (a problem common to a few other seasons as well), and the antagonists could have done more, especially given their previous build up.
The Island- I don't even really count it as a season but it's going here. It was just...okay. Not actually all that bad, but not out-of-this-world great either. Laid the foundation for lore expansion for Seabound which is appreciated, utilized the characters well (EXCEPT RONIN WHAT THE FUCK NO), and again, I can respect it for what it was trying to do. Just didn't do anything that really stuck with me in a mind-blowingly positive way.
Secrets of the Forbidden Spinjitzu- Kiiiiinda wish this season was strictly about "Forbidden Spinjitzu and it's secrets", rather than the "Forbidden Spinjitzu" leading to...assorted shenanigans. Could've made for a good Wu season, honestly. Also kinda wish they'd taken the concepts for the Fire and Ice Chapters and made them into more focused stories on Kai and Zane (especially if they were going to go on and do or attempt that exact thing for Jay, Cole, Nya, and Lloyd properly). Wishing aside, while there was a bit of a lull getting things started, the excitement did pick up soon enough. This season did eventually introduce some fun twists, (mostly) enjoyable character dynamics, and having a little lighter of an adventure until it wasn't after MotO was a refreshing change of pace.
Pros: Lots of individual moments to dig into and get invested in, a nice expansion on the lore of Wu's past + other realms beyond Ninjago, Cons: A little hard to initially get into, and can be even harder to keep wanting to push through and watch to the end. Both the Fire and Ice Chapter have points where they feel a bit "aimless" in their middle portions of their acts, and the season as a whole simultaneously feels like it's longer than it needed to be + didn't always use the time it had efficiently.
Legacy of the Green Ninja- Fellas as I've been finishing up my planning for Legacy!S2, I have to confess this Season isn't quite the masterpiece we remember it as snksnksnksnk. There's literally 2-3 episodes that are ENTIRELY pointless, and none of them are even the """"filler"""" ones. It felt like it was trying to be a wacky shenanigan-of-the-week thing and a "dramatic world-ending thriller adventure" at the same time in both halves of the season, and that didn't always pan out in its favor, giving this season a bit of a lost/confused identity—especially one that so explicitly implicates Lloyd as being important, and yet most of the episodes are spent following the escapades of the Core Four still (which is not inherently a bad thing, but WHERE'S THE SO-CALLED LEGACY?!?! WHERE'S THE GREEN NINJA?!) ........anywho, negativity-fueled-by-recency-bias aside, even its short-comings still make for a highly enjoyable watch and rewatch, which isn't something that can be easily said for the previously mentioned seasons. And, there is still a LOT of funny, heartwarming, heartbreaking, and downright epic moments! But, not always immediately memorable ones.
(but also like please you have to UNDERSTAND there's literally a scene during the final battle where Wu, Misako, and Julien are on the ultra dragon and one of em's like "WE HAVE TO HELP" and, i swear i timed this this is legitimately accurate, TWO SECONDS LATER they make like two wing flaps going nowhere and Wu or Misako's like "THIS AS FAR AS WE GO" LIKE WHAAAAAAT?!?!?!!?! HELP LMAO)
Pros: Easy to get into, easy to keep watching, god-level music, and the simple ass humor still makes me laugh like a lunatic all these years later ("O'GRANDMA???" "I can make a little extra if I do the human piñata." "BEQUEATH! BEQUEATH!" *wordlessly using Zane as a battering ram* *the entire absurdity of Wrong Place, Wrong Time* *Dareth's existence*) Cons: The inconsistency of its overall direction still gives me whiplash all these years later, and I wish it had better embraced a singular identity, as that probably would've helped immensely both with character focus and the at times odd pacing of the plot.
Prime Empire- Finally, some good food! Similar to SotFS, this season took a while to kickstart and find its groove and keep it, but by the end it was sooooo much off-the-walls fun that it's hard to actually hate it. Lots of missed opportunities to expand on Jay's character though, especially when those Prime Empire shorts primarily focused on Jay released alongside the season would've been GREAT to see in actual episodes, and probably could've been what tipped it higher onto this list. While what we did get towards the end was super cool, it would've have MUCH more impact if it had better prior buildup. But, this season is incredibly solid in ways that may not be immediately obvious, though does still a bit to be desires at times too.
Pros: Fun and glorious setting for adventure, some very potent and very memorable character moments, SUPERSTAR ROCKIN' JAY, and a very strong finish that still gets me buzzed when it think about it. Cons: Slow start, many missed opportunities, left me wanting just a bit more (in the not-good way) despite the satisfying finish.
Crystalized- *folds hands in front of face* I probably should put this lower than Prime Empire overall quality-wise, but idk man, Crystalized scratched a lot of my personal itches...and also sent me banging my head into a wall, so. While I genuinely, honestly did enjoy my time with this season (I laughed, I cried, I "what the fuck"ed), there's the other half of my mind that just couldn't stop questioning sooooooo many decisions for the direction of the main characters, and constantly doing so did take me out of it way, way too often. For something that was going to serve as (another) big, grand send off...this one may have stuck the landing better than Hands of Time, but. IDK. Something still felt off at the end of everything.
Pros: (Mostly) incredible fight scenes, and action moments, we got to see perspectives of certain character dynamics that hadn't been explored before or not as often, there really is a lot of cool shit in here, loved the return of so many old faces, honestly very enjoyable if you're able to turn your brain off just a bit Cons: WHAT THE HELL DID THEY DO TO NYA, WHY ARE Y'ALL SLEEPING SO HARD ON THE PERFECT OPPORTUNITY TO FINALLY GIVE LLOYD SOME REAL ACTUAL DEVELOPMENT THAT MADE SENSE, IF YOU WERE REALLY PLANNING ON "REDEEMING" HARUMI WHY DIDN'T YOU PACE IT OUT BETTER, WHY ARE THE CORE FOUR NEAR USELESS, DID WE REALLY HAVE TO SPEND A FOURTH OF THE SEASON IN A PRISON WAS THERE NO BETTER WAY TO GET OLD VILLAINS INVOLVED OR FOR RUMI TO INTIMIDATE LLOYD FROM THE SHADOWS, WHAT WAS THE POINT OF THE NEW NINJA, THERE'S SOOOO MUCH MISSED STUFF SURROUNDING NYA'S SACRIFICE/RETURN, AND WHY DID THEY SCRAP SO MANY ACTUALLY NEAT IDEAS FOR THISSSSSSS *dies*
Hunted- Gonna be honest, it's been a hot second since I've watched NS9 because everyone being in such distress stresses ME out just thinking about it (I'm apparently the people Jay was worried about lmao) and I haven't quite brought myself to subject myself to it again. However, I do remember it being an incredible watch and every episode bringing something epic to the table, and honestly I just see it as a sequel or a part 2 to SoG. Good music, strong character beats, satisfying in pacing all the way through; a great and surprisingly introspective season, just got outshined a bit by some of the pure spectacle and overall enjoyment of other seasons.
Not gonna give Pros/Cons here because I genuinely don't remember specifics—not because any of it was "Forgettable"; I literally just technically only watched it once snksnksnk. I know it's mostly nothing but good stuff with maybe a few snags here or there, but a superbly solid season.
Sons of Garmadon- Ah yes, one of two fan favorites. And a favorite of mine as well! Just...well, it's not really a Season I ever have the urge to go back to often, which is something the following seasons to come are about to have in common. It's got a rock solid plot, delicious twists, always kept me on the edge of my seat, had a lot fascinating locations and new lore...all wrapped up in a gripping entertaining time to be had. Though, it's kind of a season where you watch it once, are completely satisfied with, and then maybe only come back to it if and when you're rewatching the whole series (at least for me—that being said, I've watched season 8 waaay more than I've watch season 9 snksnk).
Pros: Well-thoughtout plot, fully compelling antagonists, another shout out to the music, dared to take some risks as the show entered a new era, and for once everyone felt like they were contributing as a single group, which was nice to see until they weren't Cons: As stated, already a very solid season; it's just a few scenes that probably could've used some polish for extra impact in hindsight.
Way of the Ninja- Well, if I'm including the Island, might as well include the Pilots! It's only above Hunted/SOG here because *I* happen to like it more and have rewatched it a great many times haha. Honestly the only cons are that I wished we'd had some little adventures in the Ice Fortress/Floating Ruins, and that the ninja themselves had more of a presence in the ultimate confrontation with Garmadon. Otherwise the Pilots did an absolutely fantastic job of laying the groundwork for the show to come, and using witchcraft to hook many of us into adoring these characters with insane chemistry from the get-go with nothing but the bare minimum. Nothing but love and respect for my pilots! <3
Skybound- Only reason this is higher than the previous three on this list is because *I* personally enjoyed it more, that's all. For overall quality and consistency, Hunted, Pilots, and SoG clear it easily. ANYWAY I LOVE SKYBOUND. It's probably actually my second favorite season these days but I'm already about to be crucified for putting it this high on the list rip. Oh there's plenty of things wrong with this season: out of character moments including but not limited to misogyny, contradictory statements, contradictory actions, saying things they would never say prior to this season; the antagonist has wildly changing motivations almost every episode along with uncomfy tendencies, every episode feels wildly different and/or disconnected from the others, the things are happening all over the place at any given time...it's chaotic, messy, and I LOVE IT. It's a mess but it's my mess and if you dig deep enough there's a lot to love buried in the muck that I, as an individual, feel that makes the season worth it all <3
Pros: PIRATES, everything about Jay, Watching Jaya develop over the course of the season for better or worse, getting some insight into the other characters via the wishes they make, watching Jay get his moments to be the absolute badass and even Nadakhan acknowledging that (just with some horribly misguided but well-meaning intentions of the heart but he's HUMAN), the HUMOR, the Ninja Replacements and Jay getting to show off some leadership FINALLY, Jay whump, Lloyd's pirate impression, Lil Nelson!!!, Jay with an eyepatch, crashing a wedding, Echo Zane!, a commentary on how people perceive us and how we perceive ourselves can lead to great inner and outer conflict, pretty ass animation scenes esp for being in the earlier era, we got the greatest gi to ever grace our unworthy presence despite being folded the wrong way, did I mention Jay— Cons: Literally everything stated previously and probably more I'm sure you already know. But also why did they randomly MAKE DARETH LIKE THAT GOOD LORD WHY this is on par with Ronin in the Island IS2G
Rise of the Snakes- The vintage classic!!! Not ~perfect~ by any means BUT it told a cohesive story while giving everyone (even including Nya!) a little bit of spotlight and some significance and brought it all together so neatly with emotion and FUN that of course it had the power to reshape our childhoods (or teenhoods. Or adulthoods. Or nowhoods). Really its biggest flaw is simply that it was first, thus of course having a little less polish and therefore had to pave the way for better seasons to follow, but it was still a mighty tough act to follow.
Pros: Many establishing moments for the main crew for their adventures to come, antagonists that were funny, threatening, and had some pretty convincing motivations, Lloyd, highly memorable overall, easy to jump back into, gave us the legendary Weekend Whip (unless that was in the credits to the pilots too i don't remember) Cons: A bit dated nowadays, and rough around the edges, but doesn't do anything inherently wrong either. I'd say the pacing is a little quick, but in this season in particular its masked so well that you really only notice if you're looking for it (which I had been)
Master of the Mountain- And now, the truly cream of the crop. NS13 was the thing we've always wanted and always knew we needed and finally the powers that be delivered. I could rave day in and day out about Cole finally getting some much deserved focus, but for as strong and heavy-hitting as his whole arc was, the stories of the other ninja pale a bit in comparison, leaving this season unable to break the top three. Otherwise a masterclass in storytelling. And Cole.
Pros: COLE SEASON, HYPE AF FIGHT SCENES, COLE'S MOMMY, VANIA, THE UPPLY, WU AND COLE DYNAMIC, ZANE THROWING ROCKS AT KAI, THE VOICE DIRECTION (esp Lloyd, Cole, and Kai), THE SUBTLE MYSTERY OF IT ALL, THE MUSIC, THE INTRIGUE, AAAAAAA Cons: NOT ENOUGH COLE, antagonist was a bit bleh (though those fight scenes he had SERVED), could have had a little better utilization of the characters outside of "Cole's crew"
Seabound- MMMMMMM EVERY SINGLE EPISODE HIT SO GOOOOOOOOOOOOD!!!! NYA EATING FOR REAL!!! THE GODDAMN INSANE FIGHT CHOREOGRAPHY!!!! THE PEAK VILLAIN!!! THE MUSIC! THE EMOTIONS! THE PAPERGIRL! THE BENTHO! THE PILLOW MINT! THE CRUMBLING COOKIE! THE JAY ALMOST DYING FOR HIS FRIENDS! THE NYA BASICALLY DYING FOR HER FRIENDS! THE SILENT I LOVE YOU!!! THE UTTERLY GUTTING WAY IT ENDED AND LEFT ME COMATOSE FOR THREE DAYS!!!!! IT WAS SO BEAUTIFULLLLLLLL WHO GAVE THEM PERMISSION TO POP THIS HARD
Pros: *gestures wildly* Cons: It made me sad
Possession- Here we have the other fan favorite season, the bible for all people Morro-obsessed. Essentially the Seabound of the older era but with significantly less emotional devastation snksnksnk. Top-notch characterization—the Core Four have never been better with their dynamics, humor, and teamwork, it's the first real time Nya (and if we wanna be picky, Cole) get some dedicated introspective time, Lloyd is truly put to a very personal test, Ronin is there, and Morro serves as both a fantastic antagonist and a foil for all those he opposes. Simply isn't the top spot strictly because when I think of my favorite season...this ain't it, though it absolutely deserves to be.
Pros: THE CHARACTERIZATION FOR ALL, AMAZING ANTAGONIST, ALSO BEAUTIFUL ANIMATIONS, HUMOR AND HORRORS IN ONE GO, EXTREMELY REWATCHABLE, MOAR MUSIC, ENDED BITTERSWEET BUT WITH HOPE AND A SICKASS QUOTE Cons: Perhaps a touch overhyped but that's not actually the season's fault nor is it actually a con I just needed to put something here this thing is honestly airtight perfect when it comes to seasons gfgsfddfdhfkls
Tournament of Elements- yes. Yes. YEEEEEEES. To be fair this should be #3 or #4 overall quality wise MMMMMBUT I THINK ITS POTENCY CLEARS THE GAP! Season 4 ran so Season 5 could fly!!!! THE RECIPE FOR A PERFECT STORY, just, perhaps a touch undercooked, BUT THE INTENTIONS WERE FELT AND I VIBE WITH THEM H A R D
Pros: IN A SEASON WHERE THE VILLAIN DIVIDES PEOPLE WE LEARN THAT THERE IS STRENGTH IN KEEPING AND MAINTAINING MANY DIFFERENT KIND OF RELATIONSHIPS EVEN IF IT SEEMS HARD AND IMPOSSIBLE AND IN SPITE OF OUR DIFFERENCES AND EVEN IF WE DO FIND OURSELVES DIVIDED, WE SEE WE ARE STRONGER WHEN WE ARE ABLE TO COME TOGETHER AS ONE. THESE THEMES ARE SUPPORTED BY THE CHARACTERS, MUSIC, PLOT, THE ANIMATION OF THE EXPRESSIONS, AND I THINK THIS IMPORTANT OVERARCHING MESSAGE TRIUMPHS OVER EVERYTHING ELSE AS IT TRULY RESTS AT THE HEART OF NINJAGO AS A WHOLE *mic drop* Cons: Wish it delved just a bit more into the other EMs–what in the world have they all been up to??? Also wish the season ran with the tournament theme throughout the whole season rather than suddenly bouncing around in like the last three or so episodes–that kind of killed its momentum when it needed it the most. But, it still definitely stuck the landing!

Your turn, babygirl 💖
The scenario: A 24-hr Amazing Race-style challenge which includes booking travel and actually travelling from Tokyo to Kuala Lunpur which is approx 7.5 hours (why those cities? idk, they just popped into my head), with tasks to complete in each city
The prize: Something fabulous.
The players:
1. Nancy Gillian & Hunter Huntington III
2. Alex CD & Nora Holleran
3. TK Strand & Pez Okonojo
4. Zahra Bankston & Owen Strand
5. Henry FCMW & Marjan Marwani
6. Pearce Risher & Grace Ryder
7. Carlos Reyes & Andrea Reyes
8. June Claremont-Diaz & Tommy Vega
Notes: players cannot utilise their personal wealth to assist them, game provided budgets only. Assume there are several flights per day between Tokyo and Kuala Lumpur
Who wins? Who loses? What are their final rankings?
Oh fuck. I got hit with one of my own insane questions!!! Uno reverse has got me!!! Thanks to my beloved Rae and thank you to everyone who has amused me with answers to these I fucking love sending them 💕
The rankings: Tommy and June, Henry and Marjan, Owen and Zahra, Pearce and Grace, AGCD and Nora, Andrea and Carlos, TK and Pez, Nancy and Hunter.
The rationale:
1. Nancy and Hunter
A complete disaster. Nancy is fucking hilarious and very smart, but her sarcasm would go completely over Hunter's head. He would annoy the absolute shit out of her by talking about his personal wealth (which is absolutely worthless in this situation) and bring no practical skills to the table. Nancy would do her best, but she'd quickly find out that the only way she can help this idiot is by stitching him up when he pisses a fellow passenger / member of the airline staff off so significantly that they fight him.
2. AGCD and Nora
2 x very competitive, chaos bisexuals fighting it out. They are a naturally a formidable duo. Alex is very smart, but by his own admission, Nora is even smarter. They definitely have the brains and the physical prowess to take out the top spot but they're both prone to a hyperfixation and my suspicion is they would misread clues and go down a fucking rabbit hole OR forget to eat for days on end and pass out from lack of sustenance (I suspect the latter).
3. TK and Pez
How much fucking fun would these two have? Seriously, I would voluntarily elect to follow them around! Their great strength is that Pez is very well travelled and also super chill, and TK obviously has some pretty handy paramedic skills. I think their downfall is twofold: TK will (without a doubt) get into some kind of accident, and Pez will have no fucking clue how to deal with that except to maybe stick some glitter to him. Secondly, they would both get easily distracted (TK by any and all animals, Pez by anything eclectic or vaguely amusing - which may or may not be TK himself).
4. Z and Owen
If Zahra manages to avoid having an aneurysm from having to deal with Owen's fondness for a date and / or a meaningless side quest, I think they're on the money. Let's be real, Z is fucking scary. There would be an initial power struggle and there's a 87% chance Owen would try to hook up with her (which would be very quickly and viciously shut down), but once Owen accepts defeat, they are a good showing. Zahra is very organised, takes no shit and is very smart. Owen is very competitive and great in any and all stressful situations. Wouldn't count them out.
5. Henry and Marjan
Platonic power couple. Henry would almost immediately relinquish all power and control to Marjan, who would absolutely slay this challenge. She's smart, resourceful and physically capable. Henry is cluey, painfully polite, a fucking prince and...let's be honest he's just very hot. I feel like he could easily schmooze their way into the last two seats on the first flight out of Tokyo, even when the booking clerk initially said the flight was full. Plus, Henry is always seen as the more docile one, but I reckon he'd get a huge kick out of seeing Alex's pouty little face when he beats him. Their only hold back would be Henry getting recognised and being asked for an autograph.
6. Pearce and Grace
God, they're both very smart and capable people, but I just think the initial power struggle would complicate things. Pearce would be too much about reading (and then reciting) the rule book, and Grace would get very frustrated with him when he (initially) refuses to listen to her. They'd definitely work their way around it, but the initial speed bump would cost them.
7. Carlos and Andrea
Look, they'd work perfectly together. We know Andrea can be savage when she needs to be, and Carlos is very intelligent and resourceful. The problem is, he's only left Texas twice, so he's hamstrung by that. Andrea would be a little caught up making sure he eats properly, and when you eat 6 meals a day that's gonna cost you. Plus, Carlos would be acutely aware that TK is likely getting himself into some kind of NDE at any given moment, so that would be weighing heavily on his mind.
8. June and Tommy
The dark horses. They might not have some of the credentials of other players, but that's their strength. Tommy is fantastic at giving directions, June is a superb listener. They (like Andrea and Carlos) have the capabilities of communicating in two languages. Tommy is hyper competitive, June has incredible intuition. To me, they're the ones to watch. Girl power 🙌

Hello Double Life spoilers, Finale edition because I’m scrolling through the tag and have many many thoughts still
I fully had anticipated that the final pairs were going to be Grian and Scar, and Scott and Pearl.
The last green lives this game, the duo that agreed the first game ended in a double victory no matter how that cactus ringed fight ended. The two who worked in sync so effortlessly, many thought there was major communication issues because they just did things without constant consultation.
Then one of the last to turn Red. The pair that stuck to each other throughout nearly the entirety of Last Life until it was too dangerous too. Who worked so well together in the past, people were excited to learn they were bound to each other, only to realize that they didn’t feel the same way
Pearl who did so much to antagonize Scott. The constant powdered snow, the cacti, all to make him anxious and panicked. But Pearl who never wanted to die. Who never wanted to really take a life from Scott. Pearl who tried to give the chest plate back when she realized Joel and Etho were about to actually kill her over it, but spoke up too late. Pearl who created a hound army, for a variety of reasons but there’s no doubt protection was among them. That many wolves, the only mobs that will actively fight in your defense. Keeping her safe as she went after the others, keeping Scott safe as the wolves took the brunt of the hits and dealt the extra damage needed.
Scar, who is all charisma, luck, and skill hidden so smoothly under the first two traits that it’ll leave others genuinely speechless. Scar who has constantly been underestimated due to his accident prone habits, who has been known to lose lives and drop to red quickly. Scar who has always managed to talk his way in circles so smoothly and easily, without hesitation he’s able to waltz himself (and very often his allies) out of so many certain death situations. Scar with the uncanny ability to hold that last life with an iron grip, escaping near impossible situations repeatedly much to the surprise of others
Their partners who swore up and down that they would be their downfall. That carelessness would be what takes them out in the end.
Grian, who sought the alliance of a secret soulmate because he felt stuck with his soulbond. Who seemed to forget Scar’s capabilities whenever he took damage. Grian who we heard sigh and complain multiple times over his fated partner. Who banned Scar from the Ancient City after Grian had experienced the Warden himself.
But all because he panic’s easily compared to his soulmate’s seeming nonchalant-ness. Grian who tries to seem logical, but acts on emotions more often than not. Grian’s able to talk, and give a good run around, but we’ve seen how easy it is for him to fall back and let Scar handle that while Grian snoops around instead.
Scott, who pushed Pearl away the moment they saw each other. Who chose his own soulmate with Cleo to defy the rules of the Game once again. Scott who made a secondary Ranch to “test” the love and bonds of the other pairs, only for it to be set up to sow the seeds of doubt and distrust among the others. Who got so used to Pearl’s antics he didn’t even think twice about setting his spawn in Bdubs and Impulse’s house for when she inevitably got him killed. Who didn’t really team up with his given soulmate until it was just the four of them on Yellow.
Grian, who let his stubbornness get the better of him again. Who tried to send the warden up on his own when it didn’t work the first time. Who seemed dead set on getting a warden to the surface. Grian who didn’t just follow his soulmate out of the ancient city. Grian who lost their last life, at the end of the day, all alone in those crudely dug out tunnels. Screaming apologies to a Scar who couldn’t hear him, who died alone and confused in the woods looking for Grian so they could go out together in a fighting blaze of glory. But Scar ended up just falling off of his horse, staring at the full moon instead.
I can’t help but wonder if my prediction could have been right had Grian just let the Warden be. If he had given up on that trap idea and gone to Rendezvous with Scar instead. Would it have been the Desert vs the Stars? Or was it always destined to be the dysfunctional divorcée’s, with the probability that they would have turned on Scar and Grian before each other.
This series was so much fun to watch, and I hope they had fun filming it. I am sad my prediction wasn’t entirely correct, but I’m not surprised that it came down to Scott and Pearl, despite the games being completely unscripted, they always manage to be poetic that way
(Common disclaimer of this is just how I’ve viewed things, and at the end of the day I am well aware it is just a bunch of good friends playing block game and being dramatic about it. I swear this is all done with a very light heart lol)

How do you think the boys react to being sick?
i got u
warriors: badly. wartime sickness leaves something to be feared, and he probably does not have good memories of it. it spreads fast and hits hard, especially in barraks and camps. a cold? fine. sure. he can deal with that, as can the rest of them. if its anything more? he does not process or deal with it well. a lot of soldiers died because of sicknesses. hed be scared of getting anyone else sick in the chain (or getting sick from someone else), even going as far as to refuse help and trying to independent his way through it for fear of getting any of them sick.
legend: fine. sickness is common in his hyrule. he probably tries to do things on his own through his being sick, just like he had when he was alone on most of his other adventures. tries to tough through it until it gets too bad. he doesnt get sick often much anymore because of all the traveling he did kind of, in a way, boosting his immune system, but it hits hard when he does, coupled with dangerous fevers spiking in those first few 100s. +kakariko is riddled with sickness at least once a year or every few years - thats how sick season works. it hits the area pretty hard but he lives far enough away hes not too affected - hes basically in quarantine at home on accident anyway. (though, he often gets what he calls 48 hour colds, which are colds that barely last two days or so.)
sky: hes fine, but a better fine definition than legends. he volunteers to mother hen the others when theyre sick and tries being as careful as possible when Hes sick so as not to get others sick (again or spreading). he lived on a small island, lots of exposure to Eachother, but not alot of exposure to Sicknesses. he had to be careful; most of his worst sicknesses were when he first went down to the surface, and he didnt want to drag especially bad ones back to skyloft when he went home.
time: he absolutely fucking despises it with a very big passion and every inch of his being. he gets all huffy and bitter when hes sick and doesnt want to be bothered or bother anyone else. he chugs a potion and lets it run its course and hopes that it stops Fucking Immediately Right Now Or Else. /threat. sicknesses dont sit right with him or his body and a cold feels like his body is aching and sore constantly. his bones hate him for moving when hes sick, and mentally he isnt doing so great either. plague is not unheard of in any hyrule and he thinks 'oh sweet hylia other hyrules are going to have other sicknesses' and immediately wishes he were home with malon again.
wind: depends, but decent! he does not like being sick - especially around the chain. they already baby him enough, in his opinion, and hed rather busy himself with other '''more important''' things than let them focus on how hes sick. back on the boat, sickness was like war's experience: it hit fast, and it hit hard. it swept across the boat to everyone, weather all at once or one at a time or in small groups. he usually tried toughing it, but being sick on a boat and also on sea was always somehow a little worse. there wasnt alot of medicine on ships. back home on his island there werent many people to get sick from or to give sickness too. and he does not want to get his grandma or aryll sick so hed stay someplace else or refuse letting people in his loft. his grandmas soup while he was sick though? amazing. aryll would deliver it sometimes if he stayed elsewhere to ride it out.
wild: "wait hes sick?" is his shtick. he wont really notice until its sending him into a fitful rest and he thinks he feels ten degrees warmer than he should. he, like time, hates being sick. being in the wild and learning how to cook in the wild with. wild ingredients, he probably got sick often, though. hed cook his favourite comfort meal, settle down at the fire, and wait it out or wait until he felt better. it was nice, because he could make his own potions as well. other times, if he thinks he doesnt have time, he downs a stamina and goes on his way. it all depends on the surrounding timeframe and what he has to do and how soon it must be done.
twilight: whine whine whine whine motherfucker. he, ALSO like time, despises getting sick with a passion. he wants to go home and lay in his treehouse of a house and not be bothered until it passes. he likes laying around until hes no longer sick and sheds like eighty percent of his clothes (including the pelt, he doesnt want it stickin to him when he gets all sweaty. ew.) because runs hot when he gets ill. hes not hesitant to let people help him, though, because he knows the more help he gets or the more he helps himself, the quicker he could get better. he worries for a total of ten minutes about getting someone else sick, and then sees they made him soup and forgets it entirely. soup!!!!! thank you :).
hyrule: fine. the downfall duo... neither of them handle it more than 'fine'. hyrules been sick a few times, or maybe a lot of times, and never has it been pleasant. (thats how it goes, though.) magic helps, sort of, sometimes, and potions do as well. potions are a commodity, though, so he uses them sparingly. towns are cautious when someone rolls in while theyre sick, and its a bit weird and overwhelming. prices for medicine is expensive as well. lots of sickness, lots of money spent on medicine. he doesnt like being sick, and especially doesnt likemaking other people sick.
four: depends on the colour but they collectively handle getting sick the best! blue and/or green usually deal with being sick in general, when possible. red gets miserable and emotional while hes dealing with it, which is obviously Not Very Four Of Them(tm). youd assume vio is good at dealing with it, but he gets snappy and tired of people existing around him. he wouldnt be good at being around the chain while sick - hed rather be in bed, alone, with a book and a drink. green usually keeps around, and then blue is somewhere in the mix just so greens not dealing with it alone. so they split it, or blue can take the brunt of the sickness and leave the conversion pieces to green. blue gets too tired to be angry as well, so it kind of works out.?still snarky and cracking dumb jokes that make green have to stifle a laugh, but sickness is sickness. they want to lay down and take care until its passed. they miss eachother very much physically when any of them are sick x100. if they could split, they would.

i have many feelings and probably unpopular opinions/views on the bee duo-las nevadas conflict today so here we go, all characters mentions are c! only!
(mostly c!tubbo analysis i’m sorry)
while yes, quackity has every right to be suspicious of the outpost especially when it really was designed to spy on his country, tubbo also has every right to build there. because quackity never specified he was going to expand on that land. more so, tubbo had every right to be suspicious of las nevadas and want to see what’s going on, because he himself knows just how incredibly dangerous new things on the smp can be.
tubbo obviously wants to trust quackity and believe there’s nothing sketchy going on in las nevada’s, but there’s so much history between them that’s left some serious, albeit unnoticeable, tension against quackity (and most of the server)
he himself said that it was quackity who took part in tubbo’s execution. while many tend to just blame schlatt and techno, most people forget that quackity had so much to do with it as well. while yes, tubbo has forgiven him, who’s to say tubbo isn’t still effected by it. we all know how horrible he is when it comes to expression his emotions/trauma, and his nonchalant attitude towards his own life may come into effect as well.
as well as, while tubbo was president, it was quackity who took charge and bossed tubbo around the most. HE spoke over tubbo, and HE was the one comparing him to schlatt, their shared tormentor during the manburg arc. quackity had to have known how much that would hurt. quackity also suggested execution ranboo just before doomsday, an example of how he had no problem executing tubbo before. quackity is known to manipulate tubbo and put words into his mouth, with how much “i trust you, BUT (insert negative)” quackity threw. quackity also tried to leave l’manburg on doomsday, which obviously hurt tubbo even if he did come back. tubbo standing up to quackity when he felt entirely justified building onto an apparently unclaimed piece of land wasn’t tubbo having any negative intentions or violent thoughts, it was only a teenager who was tired of being bullied and walked all over.
tubbo has every right to be afraid of what quackity in las nevada’s could do. building a spy outpost and calling it a cookie stand is how tubbo, who’s known to go to the extremes when feeling threatened, is entirely justified. because tubbo is afraid of his own projects getting griefed, as demonstrated in the past, him making the outpost so secure is, in tubbo’s traumatized mind, entirely justified. and i agree.
quackity is in his every right to be suspicious and untrusting with the outpost, but he is in no way innocent of tricking people himself. tubbo’s river compromise was completely reasonable.
as well as, i truly believe if quackity had tried talking to the bee duo before instantly starting to build a wall against the other wall, the conflict wouldn’t have been to negative. tubbo felt threatened by the immediate distrust and assumption that they were out to harm las nevadas, when he just wanted to keep an eye out and stay close to people he’s afraid of, to avoid someone else getting hurt. quackity feeling threatened by a supposed cookie store in territory he didn’t officially claim, where the wall wasn’t even being built directly towards las nevadas, felt a bit too extreme.
also, the way quackity would say things like “i’ll ALLOW you to keep the farm” “if you’d asked permission first” and bringing up so much politics, law and terms felt like an adult undermining a child, like he didn’t actually respect tubbo as a person. i’ve noticed a pattern of certain adults treating the minors of the smp as adults who should take the blame for problems that aren’t even their own and then treating them like clueless kids who don’t know what they’re talking about when it’s convenient for them. quackity during tubbo’s presidency, while treating him like a child, put all of the pressure and decisions on him instead of owning up to his own issues. quackity just doesn’t sit right with me, he and wilbur both being extreme manipulators and picking/choosing when they want to treat one of the kids with respect feels incredibly shitty. ALSO also, the fact that quackity kept bringing up jack manifold and associating all of his actions to tubbo also feels very uncomfortable. judging a person by association is toxic and biased, especially since quackity only believed jack manifold to live in snowchester- a place that has been, and tubbo has made this very clear, somewhere that people can go to relax and live peacefully, and conflict-free. tubbo let’s anyone build and reside in snowchester not for money or profit or power, but because he knows there are people on the server who’re tired of feeling threatened. tubbo is in no way responsible for the actions of others associated with him or his home. quackity really liked forgetting that foolish and puffy lived there as well, both of which he trusts (or manipulated into joining las nevadas, moreso foolish, as i’m not too sure where puffy lies).
speaking of foolish, i am :D not okay :D bc i love foolish, he’s my sweet shark god but with how carefree he was about giving away all of snowchester secrets to quackity when tubbo clearly trusted him and welcomed him with open/warm arms, it hurted :’D if quackity finds out about michael because of foolish, and in turn something happens to michael, i will lose it-
i’m not entirely sure what quackity is planning with las nevadas, especially since he’s trying revive schlatt as well, but it isn’t anything good. tubbo has every right to be suspicious. quackity obviously believed that he would be able to take over the conversation and sound like he was in the right/being fair the entire time, and speak over tubbo like always. he tried to as well, and tried to put words into tubbo’s mouth yet again. for someone who’s so obsessed with not repeating history, he definitely loves to let it control him. i’m proud of tubbo for standing his ground.
people assume history will repeat itself, but it only will if you let it take over. quackity wanting las nevadas to not see the fate of l’manburg is going to be its downfall, because quackity didn’t actually learn from history. he’s letting it control him.

Tumblr media
JJ’s very obvious character traits, the ones that define him most are his habits of impulsivity, his loyalty and being hot-headed.
Since these are given I won’t go into much detail but the loyalty part is very interesting as it technically would be considered his ‘fatal flaw.’
A fatal flaw in media, especially film, means what will eventually be the downfall or death in what could be considered a noble way. Most of JJ’s entire storyline is him sticking by his friends despite his own home issues or how angry he is at them. His hot-headed behavior may sometimes be taken out on his friends, it never overpowers his loyalty to them.
More of his under appreciated or not as thought of traits is that he is an emotional character and a very physical one. JJ seeks out comfort in physical touch in pretty much every single episode in both seasons. JJ struggles with anger but he also struggles with anxiety (chest holding, poking at his friends dangerous habits, etc.), and the inability to cope. We see him smoking and drinking quiet often in the first season and it’s most likely a mechanism to forget the abuse he endured from his father/ parents as a child. JJ seeks out the physical affection he did not receive as a child which make me able to confidently say that it’s his main love language. I’d say his secondary is maybe words of affirmation or quality time.
Despite JJ constantly seeking physical touch he flinches quite a few times when anyone approaches him. This is a conditional response which means it is assumed that JJ’s dad has abused him since childhood and the situation never mended. Since JJ does allow his father to hug him it can be interpreted that he wishes for a better relationship and although he endured Luke’s abuse he does love him (as victims often do love their abuses- especially when they are parents).
In my opinion, JJ is the glue of the group. I think John B is mistakenly put in this role as the pogues were always at his house, on his boat, etc. but when John B ‘died’ they stuck together. Now, had the time been longer it could be different but since their friendship held up I would say JJ is the glue. JJ’s brotherly love with John B, his very obvious adoration for Pope and his familial relationship with Kiara holds them together. JJ has an amazing connection with everybody in the group. Without him I’m sure they’d still be friends, but he pushes the ‘not friends, family’ narrative that solidifies that claim.
Some may say that JJ is an anti-hero but in actuality, he portrays every trait of a hero: loyalty, bravery, helpfulness, willing to sacrifice. JJ is all of these these, maybe a little morally ambiguous but he fits a hero category over anti-hero. His bravery & loyalty has overpowered his fear in every dangerous situation.
JJ & John B- the two of them have a very brotherly bond although they do throw each other around a lot. They’re both very physical when they argue with each other which is something I found strange on John B’s part since the pogues do know about JJ’s abusive father. Nonetheless, there isn’t much to say about their relationship because it’s easy to understand that they care for each other and see each other as brothers.
JJ & Kiara- In both seasons I didn’t think Kiara cared too much for JJ and thought they were more of in the same friend group than friends themselves. They do often berate each other and I had always seen this relationship as sibling banter but it can be interpreted any way the watcher wants. Season 2 did solidify them as best friends for me and I think it would be an interesting relationship to see. I do not, however, think that they are very compatible in a dating sense as Kiara can be overly nagging and it would build up a clash with JJ’s impulsive behavior.
JJ & Pope- In my opinion these two have the most interesting dynamic as JJ and Pope are opposites in almost every way. They have the most ambiguous connection I think. JJ is extremely protective of Pope and has shown this multiple times in both seasons- taking the fall for Pope, his reaction to Pope having the nearly fatal allergic reaction, being angry when Pope is hurt by the kooks, etc. I would at the least say they have the best duo bond of the pogues, since it is canon that JJ would do anything for Pope. JJ thinks very highly of Pope and even cares about his education- something the rest of the pogues don’t seem to mind overlooking. This type of protectiveness and devotion seems more of romantic coding than any of his other relationships.
If anyone wants me to go into more detail about anything, please let me know and I’d be happy to! Hope this was helpful.
(Pope’s character analysis and then a deeper dive into JJPope will come later!)

70-72 commentaries (No pic, spoilerific nonetheless)
The most important thing: S3E70-72 have no visual for Hockney's face. I, as a Hockney fan, can not deny my disappointment. Though his head from the back does something to soothe my ache.
I want to scratch Yasratcha's face so much.
So I googled and found that the name of the game, Gakjadosaeng (각자도생) literally translates into "Self-Help", and is an idiom meaning "Each one tries to make a way out of it." Fitting. Tho I’m actually surprised Yasratcha doesn’t name the game “Cat Game”
This entire kill-the-prisoners-who-just-wants-freedom-to-get-what-you-wish-for thing is not gonna do Bam good. It's foreshadowed already.
I have a feeling the special gift Yasratcha prepares in Yama's map are the same canine species as Yama. Either way, being Yama is gonna suck now.
I wonder what Evankhell's map is like since it's not shown. And also what's up with Kallavan's map, the goal is right in front of his face?
White: "I can't believe I had to get my feet wet." Me: I can't believe that's the first thing you say after 1 year hiatus.
White as an enemy is an anoying trash talker. White as an ally, however, is a satisfying trash talker. I forget if he's always able to honestly admit his pride gets hurt when someone blocks his sword, or if this is because of White's Clone effect on him? Last time I remember, as Hoaquin he exploded when Boro did it.
That Lyborick minion is so fucking unlucky to run into both Dowon and Karaka. This duo is not what I expect to find here but now I'm looking forward for their dynamic. She actually calls him "Kid." I know she’s ancient and all but. still. Karaka. A KID. LMAO.
I have no basis to say this but what if AA will face Maschenny's minions and they give hints about Maria and lit up the path to Khun Family Arc. I don't think said little brother is Ran, tho. The Wiki states Ran wants to kill Maschenny, and I feel like she is the type that will sardonically call any Khun male younger than her as "little brother."
Hansung really says "Me? Wanna be a hero? Nuts."
But anw, what is 'Where it all began?' Why is he "the only one mad for Jahad and the Great Families for turning their back against morals'? Am I forgetting something about Hansung's past or is it really not touched upon yet?
I still can't believe I start with "I hate Yu Hansung" and now I'm all "I love Yu Hansung."  Or the fact that Hansung, Karaka, White and Kallavan, all antagonists from previous long, long seasons, now are allied with Bam. What kind of fever dream is this.
Flash news: Yasratcha is into mixed furries.
*Haratcha spewing those words on Hansung* Me: Wow he really hates heroes huh *Haratcha's past is shown* Me: Wow he really hates himself huh.
So Haratcha's past is basically Elaine's but so much bloodier. And it's tragic in a different way because unlike Elaine's family, the Rashangs didn't start off such greedy bastards. They were just a good minority group that was being persecuted. But when they got to taste wealth, comfort and power for a bit too long, they became cruel and lazy.
And "How People Change" is a common theme in TOG. Just look at Bam in general, or Floor of Death arc with Joe, or Jahad and the Great Family Heads who, as Data!Eduan and Data!Jahad stated, were not like *that* before.
Haratcha's dying scene is unnerving because of how much this stays true. The ghosts (?) of the Rashangs are still so greedy. But when he offers them the only thing he has left, his mark, they just curtly say 'we have that already.'
His dying thought is correct: The Rashangs had no ambition. They never learned. They were given multiple chances to go back to living normally and safely, but they busted them all. They had passed the point of salvation because, as narrated, " They could no longer stand it if anyone had even a little it more than them. They developed a habit of demanding equality, but they made no effort to make things truly equal."
But that didn't go one way. Haratcha was the one enabling the Rashangs to depend on him and eventually leech him off. He said "I will give you power"; he never said, "Let's become strong together." He shot himself on the foot by becoming their wish-granting machine. Just like how he accused Hansung of doing, Haratcha was trying to be a hero for his marginalized people. But one fundamental mistake and several unfortunate things kickstarted his downfall.
Hansung himself also highlighted this. Hansung was not a hero trying to save anyone. He encouraged races trampled under Jahad to stand up for themselves, he made use of people, he left those dragging him. All of these were not things Haratcha did.
Said fundamental mistake, at least for me is that it got worse for Haratcha because unlike Elaine who still had her subordinate, he was alone. He was the lone leader of the group and the only one Yasratcha transformed into a feline. There was no one to raise with him nor to fall with him. No one understood what he really wanted, no one truly asked or argued more with him.
So when the pre-greed Rashangs worried about him and he waved them off with the words "Ask me anything, I'll give it to you!" they believed him and took it literally. After that he just kept giving and giving despite everything until it drained him and led him to kill everyone. And the reason why he couldn't be as harsh as Hansung is, why he is the wannabe-hero one, is because it was out of unconditional love that he did everything for his people.
(I'm just a fan of Hero Deconstruction so don't mind me spitballing about one minor character's past.)
By the way, SIU's narration and drawings to show Haratcha's past is insanely good and chilling. Right to the very end, it was *chef kiss* God I miss SIU so much it's so good to have him back.

The Old West and Pig Baby Car!
I love Kez, she’s… SUCH a weird, chilled-out, unusually-attracted-to-anything little ding-bell! With her head constantly in the clouds and always sparkling like there’s stars obscuring her eyes… And her simplistic yet incredibly expressive design, those two beady eyes that as said, go stare into FOREVER…! And how she’s a remorseless disaster magnet and a weirdo who’s always vibing and on some weird wavelength that’s hard to understand, but once you get it, you get it!
Let me say it again, I ADORE how this show takes advantage of its premise and setting to always do something NEW with the characters, and I love how we’re building up to a conflict of Kez’s past enemies teaming up to get revenge! That seems to be a theme of this season so far, teamwork, coming together, etc., how ironic that collaboration is going to be a danger to the dynamic duo as well! Kez’s weird, clumsy, forgetful, and overall just… MOOD, and way of talk- I love her, I love her voice, she’s amazing! Also, I halfway called it with the sheriff caterpillar metamorphosizing… But into the judge, THAT I did not expect!
Also, it seems that in this world, only THREE things are constant- Death, Taxes, and Samantha the Cat! When I saw her I legit deadpanned my expression, but c’mon, we all saw it coming, and honestly she’s such a reassuring part of this show, in a sense; We know she’s always there and we can always count on her to be present, she’s SEEN some stuff and she’s a veteran in a sense! Weird thought, but could one say that Samantha is the true protagonist of the show, and the show is about her watching various passengers and their messes?
Perhaps a final book for the show would’ve had Samantha as the primary denizen, to round things up and cap it all off… Either way, I love seeing her differing roles and how she’s handled in each book- First as this unusual enemy and ally, then as a brief obstacle/cameo, then with emotional resonance and guilt and backstory… And it seems so far here, mostly just a cameo and an ally! It’s neat, I love seeing how Samantha’s story, brief as it may be sometimes, is handled in each book! Who knows, maybe Samantha is writing the books, and that’s why they’re called that! Now I’m waiting for Randall to show up…
And also, that GAG and cut to Samantha instantly flipping on a (literal) dime for money, even if she’s also collaborating with Kez, was hilarious and so wonderfully expressive of her character in a nutshell, even for veterans who’ve already SEEN her like this! Seems she hasn’t changed much, but with how she seemingly betrayed people, only with the plan to come back… Makes you wonder if that’s what she intended for her and Simon in that Cardboard Box Car with Ghom, only for Grace to inadvertently sidetrack things? Oh god, that’s dark- The idea that Grace unknowingly ruined things between Samantha and Simon, and that plays into Samantha disliking her… But at the same time, she doesn’t seem to hold things against Grace for it, so probably not.
But oof, that’d just play into Simon’s accusations of Grace ‘ruining’ him, while Grace wants to save and help others like with those kids in the Apex or Hazel, only to misunderstand… The concept of retroactive revelations to characters and thematic foreshadowing, SO GOOD, and it’s making me appreciate more this concept of a Book that takes place in the past, to establish additional context for previous and even later characters, perhaps!
Also, just… The colors, the zany hijinx and ideas, the premise for each car, the denizens- They’re all so wonderful and unique, and I applaud the crew for their creativity, for never letting things get old… Each car is such a fun place to get stuck in, well most of them… Pig Baby was unusual, and I can see what Owen was referencing with that one pig tweet! I think there’s a clever pun to be made in the way the numbers sync, almost like a duet for music… The motifs, man!
The jabs at post-war American cuisine were hilarious, and Ryan man… I’m glad to see him learn to cool down; But unfortunately, Min thinks it’s ONLY Ryan, and he doesn’t realize he has to collaborate as well! And I like that… This idea of like; Two people are both contributing to this mess equally, you can’t just pin the blame on one, and they BOTH have to make concessions and work together! It’s a contrast to Book 3, in that it seems Ryan and Min are actually slated to work things out, VS Simon and Grace… With Grace recognizing how the two of them screwed each other up, but Simon refusing to admit his fault! Duet then forms a duality with Cult of the Conductor, one about the downfall, the other about two reconciling… Hopefully, we’ll see later down the line.
It’s definitely going to be a hard pill for Min to swallow, that he also has stake in this issue- I wonder if he’s under this impression that… He’s more ‘mature’ than Ryan, and as a result, he doesn’t want to confront his part in the situation? Though to be fair, it could just be a matter of circumstance; Ryan was the first to have a puzzle dealing with his own fault, and Ryan was the one who got them on, so it makes sense that Min assumes it’s Ryan’s issue! But dang… I felt for Ryan at the end, I feel like he’s just incredibly lonely himself and desiring positive attention, to feel validated; Whilst Min sort of feels validated? At the very least, I don’t think it’s as much of an issue for him, whilst with Ryan he has to compete with his siblings…
Hopefully Ryan will be able to find that sort of positive attention, while also still respecting Min’s boundaries and his own needs as a person; Min can’t just attend to his every need, the way the Cow Creamer does for Pig Baby! Also, another random thought, but Kez’s very lax, go-with-the-flow attitude… Honestly, it kind of reminds me of like, the kind of partners that Ryan had, before he went back to Min maybe? I dunno, I recognize that Kez definitely has huge stoner vibes, and a hypothetical Human Kez in an AU seems like the type of person Ryan would’ve encountered… Hitching a ride, taking his van and thanking him, but not being THAT grateful, lol.
Nevertheless, that’s one stop- Onto the next one! And as Kez reminds us so importantly, it’s not JUST about the destination, but the journey… I’m glad to see Min be self-aware of the need to apply lessons here the way Lake was, and I bet this whole ‘journey and destination’ mentality might apply to Ryan’s whole thing of travelling around and doing performances! We’ll see… Next stop, passengers!

Bio!Dad Bruce Day 11-The (Vigilante) Talk
Over Thanksgiving, Marinette has happily settling into her room at Wayne Manor. Alfred had welcomed her with a smile and Tim had wrapped her into a hug. Dick had talked excitably at her and Bruce had called a welcome as he made his way in form work. The family didn’t realize how much noise they were making until a small boy stormed down the stairs. His face was pulled into a scowl and he had a katana gripped tightly in his hand. When he came face to face with Marinette, the little boy snarled. She looked at the 10-year-old and smiled at him. “hi! You must be Damian! It’s nice to finally met you, brother.” The boy looked her over and turned away.
“tt” Although it wasn’t the overjoyed welcome that she hadn’t gotten from the others, the Parisian still felt like the greeting from the child was a complement.
“No. No way. The kid hates everyone! How did you get him to like you?” the shock in Tim’s voice made Marinette giggle.
“You know Tim, there is such a thing as kindness, you should try it sometime.”
“Little Bit!”
“Nettttttttttt you’re going to make Tim cry!”
“good, he deserves it! That little boy didn’t come here for you to go after him!”
“um…are we forgetting that the demon Brat tried to kill me? “Marinette smirked at Tim’s offense.
“nope!”
When the others had disappeared (gone on patrol) for the night, Bruce pulled his youngest daughter into one of the smaller sitting rooms. “Marinette, we need to talk.” The girl tensed before sighing.
“is…is this about the…altercation this spring?” Bruce nodded solemnly. He could see his daughter bracing herself. “are you mad?” the quiet question made him choke.
“Mad? Why would I be mad? Marinette, you handled everything so. Well. I just wanted to go over something that come into play with that…pastime.” His daughter furrowed her brow in confusion. “you and I are not the only vigilantes in the family. The others just haven’t told you yet.” Her face lit up in excitement.
“you mean…you mean my brother? And Cass? And Steph?” Bruce nodded at her questions.
“yes. The entire family. Here, in Gotham, we all abide by a code.” Understanding flooded her face.
“what is the code?” there were nerves in Marinette’s voice, but the way she took the information he was throwing at her made him proud. Taking a deep breath, Bruce broke down what he made all the rules he had his children abide by when in the field. Partway through, Tikki settled on Marinette’s shoulder to be a part of the conversation. When Bruce was done, he looked at the two, waiting for questions. The Kawmii hovered to be eye level with the teen and the duo started to talk back and forth in rapid fire. The language they were using was not one that he was familiar with, however.
Marinette glared at her Kawmii where she sat on her nose. “no.” the goddess of luck sighed but followed her chosen’s lead in switching out of the guardian language and back to English.
“Marinette. You don’t have to live by the archaic rules that Master Fu enforced. You saw what happened to him! I don’t want you to alone too!”
“Tikki, as much as I love you, and I love that you care, I am not alone. I have my dad; I have my parents in Paris. I have my brothers, my sisters, and my friends. Hell, even my partner has been fantastic! This needs to stay as. It. Is.” Bruce cleared his throat, cautious. He had seen what Marinette was capable of doing when she was truly angry, he didn’t need that rage leveled at him.
“Marinette is there more going on?” the little goddess of luck took advantage of his attention.
“Yes! Marinette is the Guardian now! She won’t tell Chat and she’s trying to do the work of an entire order by herself!” his daughter froze. His eyes narrowed as he studied her. Sure, Marinette had looked more tired, and yes, the girl had seemed more on edge. In his defense, Bruce mainly dealt with heroes and villain s outside of the office. The signs she had been showing were normal for that of a leader of a hero team when life went to the dogs. As he looked closer, Bruce noticed smaller signs that normally would go unnoticed. Tenser shoulders, paler skin. In fact, …
“Marinette…” Bruce paused. If he was right, then he knew how to help a little bit. If he was wrong, ALL of his daughters were going to eviscerate him. “Net, have you been eating? I know that when I start to get wrapped up in a case, I forget about basic needs. Sometimes I can loose entire weeks in the cave, subsisting on what Alfred brings me.” The 14-year-old had tensed, looking ready to defend herself or run if she had to. When Bruce mentioned his own habit, the teen had relaxed.
“I- yes. I do that too. Sometimes, Tikki isn’t enough to break me out of my thoughts. If there isn’t an emergency…” Bruce nodded in understanding.
“what does your partner do, when that happens?”
“wellllll”
“Marinette. For the love of all that is holy, please tell me that you know who each other are.” She flinched slightly at the change in his voice, before she fervently shook her head.
“the last guardian…he didn’t want us to know about each other. He didn’t want us to know more than strictly necessary, actually.” In that moment, Bruce saw red. Not only had this man thrown two teens into the fire and walked off, he had taken any form of support with him.
“Net, do you trust Chat Noir?” the noirette nodded.
“would you please take some advice?” she studied him before nodding hesitantly.
“when you two have the time, meet out of the suit. Know who each other are, and what each other’s downfalls are. Know how to help each other and how to keep the other in a space that is safe. It is so, so important to have someone to lean on. I have not only your siblings, but Alfred and the Justice League. I promise that if you need help, ever, I will do all I can to help. But you need someone on site. You need someone who understands nearby.”
“Is…is that why you have partners? So that if needed, you can step back?” the timidity in Marinette’s voice mad Bruce pause.
“Marinette are you present at every Alums attack? Even when your out of town?”
“I have to be. I…Ladybug is the only one who can fix everything afterwards. If I’m not there, people stay dead and business shut down and hospitals stay damaged and overflowing. If I’m not there, we don’t have any of our landmarks, any of the things that make Paris the city it is.”
“how are you getting back and forth? It takes too long to fly, right?” the younger vigilante hesitated and glanced at Tikki before pulling out a small jewelry box.
“I keep Kaalki's glasses with me. If there is an emergency, I teleport in, handle everything, and teleport out. I’ve been lucky so far, because no one has noticed.” There was a sound, as Bruce went to respond. When they turned, the two found Dick making his way into the kitchen, wearing a pair of joggers with his hair still wet. Marinette paused and put two and two together as she realized that her siblings must be getting back for the night.
When Dick stumbled into the kitchen at 3 am, he wasn’t expecting his little sister to still be up. Because of that, he had not fully changed back into his regular clothing. He had showered, of course. After flying over the city for hours though, the young adult was ready to go to bed. As he reached for a box of cereal and a bowl, he vaguely registered Bruce sitting at the counter. When Dick turned to see who was sitting besides his father figure, he froze. Sitting there looking completely unsurprised was- “Marinette.” He froze, he processed who was sitting at the counter, and exactly what time of night it was. “I. Um. Well…hi?” the sheepishness in his voice was clear. The younger noirette simply shook her head.
“early morning snack? I hadn’t realized how late dad and I had stayed up talking. I should probably head to bed so I can function in a few hours.” As the girl hopped up, Dick realized that Bruce looked…upset. Was…was Marinette using his interruption to get out of whatever conversation they had been having? If the girl’s blinding smile and small wave was anything to go by, the answer was most likely yes.
When Marinette joined the family the next morning at breakfast, her father raised an eyebrow at her from farther down the table. “did you sleep well after our unfinished conversation last night, Marinette?” Dick swung his gaze to look at her.
“so, I did interrupt something last night!” the guilty look Marinette flashed in his direction made him scoff. “sneak.”
“but I’m still your favorite, right?” he paused, considering her statement.
“you, missy, are on probation.” They laughed, before Bruce cleared his throat.
“After breakfast, you are coming to the office with me. We can talk on the way there. There is more to go over from last night.” The teen huffed and slumped into her chair but nodded all the same.
When the two were in the car, Marinette stared out the window. “what else is there to go over, dad?” the dejectedness in her tone made Bruce sigh.
“Marinette, hey,” he nudged her to get the girl to look over at him. “you aren’t in trouble. I just want to make sure that you are safe. I know exactly how hard this life is and I know how dangerous it is. I want to make sure that you are taken care of if anything happens.”
“I…I don’t know how to approach the idea of knowing who may partner is. We’ve lived in secret for so long, it’s hard to imagine a place where I can go to him outside of the suit. Or! What if he doesn’t like me without a mask on? I don’t want to hate him or have trouble working with him if I know him in real life and we don’t get along.” Bruce stayed silent, letting his daughter let her fears show through. Sometimes he forgot that the girl was nervous. She was always so confidant around him, that he forgot that she had a tendency to overthink.
“start slow. Explain to him that you met an older vigilante over some travels, and that you talked through some of your fears with them. Suggest meeting somewhere outside of the city to talk, and work form there. Find a place, together, where you can go and work on tracking down Hawkmoth. A base of sorts. Once you have the base work between yourself and your partner, ill send one of your brothers. I’ll send them under the guise of forming bonds with Ladybug and Chat Noir. With a man on the ground, I can help you in anyway you need. And,” here, Bruce shot her a small smile. “this way I wont be taking over. The Justice League isn’t taking over either.” Marinette hesitated, before nodding.
“I…I like that”
since i am a compleate chaotic mess, i decided to twist this topic a lil. that’ll probably happen tomorrow, too. that is, unless i decide to just use an alternate one. idk man, i have no plans at this point. everyhting is up to date on my AO3 account, wiht is under the same username, if you want to manuver over there, lol. ill add a link in the masterlist soon!

Of the Devil’s head
Chapter twelve - Lose a piece of that non-heart
Sander’s sides fanfiction
Wordcount: 1529
Ship: prinxiety  (Get ready people.)
TW: So, a bunch of kissing - though no shirtless people this time; a little bit of for-play (Can it be called for-play if nothing really happens?), hard teasing, flirting, very subtle mentions of cruelty and something resembling suicide, though it is not exactly that, cursing (a lot) and a bunch of light-hearted backstory angst because why not? Let me know if anything else pops up :3
Summary of the whole story: They say, the one that wears the crown rules all - the living, the dead, the walking, the crawling, the rooted, the sane and the mad. They say, once you own the crown, you become the  most powerful being on Earth and beyond. Roman’s stolen bigger things - a measly little crown won’t present a problem, even if he has to steel it straight off of the devils head!
----------------------------------
Chapter twelve - Lose a piece of that non-heart
Roman often tends to forget what it is like to be happy. That one little feeling that grows inside your chest, suffocating you in the best way possible until you blow up, smiling and grinning (in his case talking and twirling around like a little princes).
It’s been so long since this feeling grew out of proportion. Since he wanted to jump around and talk someone’s ears of. Wanted to sing out loud.
But right now, no matter how Roman’s body would be reacting to this much happiness in any other situation, he just pulled the Devil closer to him, grinning into the kiss.
V smiled too, leaning his forehead against the thief’s. “You seem awfully happy.” he murmured, teasingly. As if the pink on his pail cheeks and the way his non-heart was beating didn’t imply the exact same thing.
He was awfully happy. And judging by the way Roman was literally vibrating, he was as well.
“I just kissed the man of my nightmares, who wouldn’t be?” Ro grinned even wider.
Virgil couldn’t help but snort, shaking his head against the being’s.
“What? It’s not like you didn’t get lucky! Just look at me!” Ro pulled away, with Virgil still on his lap, gesturing at himself.
“I don’t think emotionally fragile and easily breakable is a think you should be proud of.”
“Hey! I’ll let you know! I’m much tougher then you think! I might just be tougher than you!”
“Oh really.” Virgil raised an eyebrow. “Let’s put that to a test, shall we…?” the dark toothy grin wasn’t nearly enough to forebode the kings next actions.
Roman didn’t even have time to blink before he was laying once again. Hands above his head, pinned to the bed.
Something snaked up his leg, circling around his thigh. Too high, he might ad… This was dangerous. Very, very dangerous…
“Now you can show me how though you really are.” the Devil’s eyes darkened, clouds circling around like small tornados. “When someone’s holding you down…” he leaned in close. Close enough that he could feal his breath on his lips. “…pinning you…”
“… what will the though thief do?” he hummed. Deep voice resonating through Roman’s whole body.
“He… am….” the human gulped. He hated how clipped his voice came out.
But Hades, did Virgil love the flustered expression Roman was wearing. He could hear his heart beating faster then light, blood rushing in his wains. See his brain failing to function. Cheeks flushed and eyes unable to leave Virgil’s lips. Roman was completely gone. Melting underneath the Devil.
“He what?” V smirked, voice dark with lust. Tail tightening around Ro’s thigh.
Roman yelped.
A very high-pitched, very restrained, very embarrassing yelp. And Virgil couldn’t take it. He fell back onto the thief’s thighs, tail uncurling, hand’s letting go, howling with laughter.
And Roman just laid there, a giant emotional mess watching the Devil with big round eyes.
“Oh Hades! Lord of the darkness! I can’t, I’m sorry.” the king stuttered out through laughter. “Don’t take it too seriously. I was just having some fun.”
“We’ll if this is the kind of fun you like to have…” the thief blinked, barely breathing.
But Virgil didn’t even hear him through the laughter. He just leaned down and gave him a quick peck on the lips. “You’re adorable when flustered, liveling.”
“Yeah yeah.” Ro rolled his eye, trying to collect his thoughts. He cleared his throat and took in the whole of his supposed captor. Apparently that thing that abused his thigh earlier was a long thin tail, similar to the wings he saw earlier. Huh… interesting.
But didn’t the Devil say- “Where are your horns?”
“What?” Virgil wiped of a tear, trying his best to calm down.
“Your horns. You said ‘tails and horns and everything’. Where are the horns?”
“Ah well… Their here.”
And suddenly, Roman was looking at two small horns poking out of V’s scalp. Barely visible from the hair. “Oh, dear Gods! They are so small!”
“Oh shut up.”
“No! You’ve got small little hornies!”
“Do you even hear yourself?”
“They suit your personality so much! Small and adorable! I just -”
Virgil sighed defeated. “Apparently not…”
His fun has ended…
-
Nobody knows how long the two didn’t come out of that room.
Well… nobody except Remi. He’s been lounging around the throne room for Hades-knows-how-long, sipping at his delicious coffee.
Souls, no souls, he wouldn’t have been working even if Virgil was around. But he wasn’t. He was off with that boy-toy off his doing dark-knows-what.
If you’d ask Remi, the king went soft. But he never really was tough to begin with…
All those years ago, when they used to go down to earth and do crazy shit nobody even dared to think of! That was the shit! Them - the duo. Tearing people in half and making buildings crumble and burn. But thinking back, even Remi knew it wasn’t Virgil’s free will talking. The former prince always looked back at the damage they caused with a sad look in his eyes. Guilt.
No, it was not him. It was Lucifer.
The former Devil was the truest meaning of the word. Remi hasn’t been here long enough to get to know him, but the twelve or so years spent with him in charge were enough. Abusive, power-hungry, mad. Nothing was ever enough for that creature.
Not his wife, Remi never got to meet. Not his son, who grew up to be too weak for the kings liking. Not Hell itself.
Remi wasn’t blind. Nor was he stupid. Lazy and bitchy, maybe, but those were his best traits! Besides for the obvious great fashion sense and awesome personality. But he was a mind reader for fuck’s sake. And Virgil’s thoughts weren’t exactly quiet.
Safe to say it was best for everyone involved when Lucifer got banned from Hell. Well, not exactly from it - they were demons, but not even they were cruel enough to unleash such a monster to the upper world. He got sent to the deepest darkest pit of Hell where no server had acces to. Not even the prince himself.
And after the immediate coronation of Virgil, the power the former Devil once had now belonged to V. Who never used it, unless necessary.
So yeah… maybe Remi did miss those times when Virgie was more fun, but he sure as Hell didn’t miss those thoughts of his swirling around in both of their heads.
Now at least it was mostly quiet.
The Devil seemed happy. Unusually so. Remi even got his fucking coffee! Who would’ve though?
He chewed on the straw of his almost empty drink. No matter what, the king was the king. And right now, he was locked away somewhere with his little Human doing dark-knows what. And Hell, if Remi wasn’t curious as to what it was!
And what it really was, was nothing.
V laid in his bed with his head on Romans chest, completely oblivious to the outside world. This was their bubble - their safe place.  Nobody could walk in without permission and nobody could take Roman away either.
He wouldn’t let them.
Maybe not that. But Virgil knew Ro would have to leave at some point. He couldn’t stay... Though he’d rather not think about that just yet.
Instead, he looked up at his liveling and watched him. Listened to the steady beet of his heart. Who knew it would be a Human thief that would end up owning his?
Hair still damp from the shower he took earlier. Eyes closed. Smiling.
Yeah… Virgil was a lucky son of a Devil. And nobody could deny that.
Father wouldn’t have approved, but mom… Mom would have loved Roman.
She herself has fallen for a mortal. Which ended up being her downfall. But she never regretted. She never coward.
Not once.
“Don’t be afraid love. It doesn’t hurt.” she said.
“But I am afraid, mommy…”
“Don’t be, my dark angel. I am not afraid.”
“How?”
“Because, when you love somebody enough, you’re not afraid to give up anything.”
Now, Virgil knew this was faulty logic. If she loved her son as much as she said she did, why didn’t she give up dying on the account of her supposed love? And why did she need to give up anything at all?
If she loved someone, shouldn’t they be kind and understanding enough to at least come to a compromise? Find some way for his mommy not to have to die?
The mortal probably was dead by now, forgetting all about his beloved mother the moment she stepped out of their life. But she didn’t…
It was faulty logic. Very stupid and faulty logic.
But somewhere deep down, he understood her…
She did love him. More then anything in the whole universe. But sometimes love isn’t enough.
And so, she perished. Erased herself from existence without a single tear ruining her perfect face. And a beautiful smile.
That’s what Virgil remembers. That smile.
And as he looked up at Roman, he saw the same one. Same peaceful, astonishing small smile lingering on the lips he was kissing just a moment ago.
So, he kissed them again. And let the realization of what he was about to do next swallow him whole.
----------------------------------
I don’t feel like this chapter is very consistent... But oh well. I refuse to sit on it any longer. I have a last chapter to write!
Not that I want to end this story, but I have such a juicy ending prepared I just can’t wait to write it!! ^^
Anyhow, this was a little bit of backstory before the actual end. Roman already had his, so now it was time for V’s. And that brings us to the last chapter coming soon.
Also some more art because I feel like drawing V and all his forms. Ya know, all the forms of evil :3.
Okay XD It’s late and I’m just spewing out words now.
As always, hope you liked the chapter! <3

Bad Batch thoughts & predictions Ep 7
Continuing these written reactions/predictions somewhere cause itd be fun I think to see what actually ends up happening and remembering what I thought at the time so im dumping it here, youre welcome. (Feel free to discuss if you want) if you want to keep up with it im gonna be tagging these as #jay rambles about bb
- Ruby? Did I forget? Who/what is Ruby? -- Oh ok. Interesting bounty I suppose. - Wrecker and Omega have a completing mission tradition? That is SO cute. - Hooded person is here >>  -- I’m still holding out on my rex or ahsoka predicition because I think it would make sense for the sisters to call them since theyre friends with ahsoka and obviously she knows about clones and Rex is/was with her last we saw him... but the hooded persons eyes definitely aren’t ahsokas so I think it’s rex and if it is Im gonna be so happy - “Thats not her ugly side?” FFF Tech you bastard I love you - I SEE THE WHITE AND BLUE ARMORED ARM IM GONNA SCREAM - I’M SCREAMING -- REX I MISSED YOU SO MUCH I’M SO HAPPY TO SEE YOU AGAIN AHHHHH --- I KIND OF POKED FUN AT MYSELF THIS WEEK REBLOGGING A MEME OF A GRANDMA SAYING ‘REX WILL BE IN THE NEXT EPISODE’ AND SOME YOUNGER PERSON EXCORTING THEM AND SAYING SOMETHING LIKE ‘OK GRANDMA LETS GET YOU INSIDE’ OR SOME SHIT BUT **VIOLENTLY POINTING AT THE SCREEN** MY LOVE IS HERE - Cid shut the fuck up he is a KING how dare you - Oh no. Oh god. “thats a long story.” Is he going to talk to him about his pov with 66 and about the ship and Jesse AND FIVES OH FUCK -- So it skipped to Rex talking about the end of the war but we didn’t hear really the story itself, and I really hope thats not all we get when it comes to him talking about the people he and at least echo knew. Like if he talked about Fives learning about the chips and not being listened to and that resulted in 66 because of the chips where activated and made them betray the jedi but we get no reaction from Echo I’m going to be pretty disappointed honestly. Like I get the bad batch not really knowing the squad so they have excuses but Echo did, and I really hope they don’t do the thing “Oh well Echo was caught by droids so now he doesn’t care about them anymore” because... that sucks. Like honestly Echo wasn’t even super crazy about seeing Rex either tbh (I get that Echo feels like he doesn’t fit in with regs and thats all fine and dandy) but it kinda feels like he doesn’t give a shit about what he’s gone through with other people. ---Rambling and getting off topic now because I have some shit between Echo and Fives: but if thats the case like we all know it fucked up Fives when he thought Echo was dead so if Echo isn’t the same way about Fives I guess thats just like... depressing and it sucks because everyone sees them as “that duo”. Again we really don’t know what Rex said exactly so its possible it didnt get brought up but if it did...  - Wrecker picking up Rex is so cute but you can see the fucking worry in Rex’s eyes for being picked up by him cause Wrecker would throw him and agjsdb I love it. - Omega straight up being like “youre old” while looking at Rex’s face PFFT no filter kid. - REX KNOWS ABOUT WRECKER -- Good I’m very happy Rex is calling them out on this inhibitor chip shit. ‘Oh crosshair was just an exception’ should definitely not be an excuse. - Oh alright so the glimpse in the trailer was a junkyard and not the same thing. Same kind of ship but not where the graveyard is. Honestly thats kind of a relief. - OH SHIT I WAS TALKING ABOUT FIVES NOW THEY ARE BRINGING HIM UP IM GONNA CRY ABOUT FIVES ALL OVER AGAIN -- wait.... now I don’t know if they know or not about him. - The scenery in this show is really pretty im just gonna go ahead and give some appreciation. - Oh no Wrecker! Pull up the rope!!!!!! He can climb but you can also pull him!!!! -- Thank god. - Omega talking about if something goes wrong? It’s not like theyre all gonna die at the same exact time.... like theyre only gonna do the surgery one at a time so... Omega what are you imagining sis? Like if one person turns? It’s still kind of unlikely that they could defeat the other very talented people in the room. - OH SHIT TECH YELL FOR HELP - HEY THIS HURTS MY FEELINGS DAVE HEY HEY -- LIKE YEAH THEY CANT POSSIBLY KILL THEM ALL CAUSE THE SHOW NEEDS TO GO ON BUT HEY --- Lowkey predicting they could all turn by the end of the show season cause like if they dont beat wrecker and cant use the medical bay then they are fucked. Also especially think this is gonna happen because one of the directors literally said the second half of season 1 is gonna get emotional and holy shit can you imagine. ---- WHAT IF THEY DO AND ITS JUST OMEGA AND REX TEAMING UP TO SAVE THEM HOLY SHIT AND ITD GIVE EVEN MORE OF A MEANING TO THE WORDS “THE BAD BATCH” - Holy shit this fight Wrecker grabbed ECHO BY HIS FUCKING FACE - Ok I was seriously wondering about Omega’s concerns but now HOLY SHIT CAUSE THATS ALL I CAN SAY LIKE THEYRE NOT DEAD BUT OH MY GOD I DIDN’T THINK ITD GO DOWN LIKE THIS - THANK YOU REX OUR HERO - I know we’re all having a moment after Wrecker but can you guys like team up to move him off the table and get your own done like even if its a bit risky cause we don’t need a repeat of what just happened like yeah theres not enough time in the episode for it but still - The *immediate* little head pat “Hey kid” ;-;
- Ok I’m glad theyre getting them out - THE GENTLE REASSURING TOUCHES IN THIS EPISODE *deep breath* ARE GIVING ME SERATONIN  - Wreckers apology ;-; THIS IS SO FUCKING SAD AND CUTE - Rex is leaving already? :( Be safe you funky little space soldier. - Not really surprised the empire is gonna know they were there cause it was only a matter of time but if theyre smart theyd get off planet and back to Cid before the empire gets there to see whats up.  -- Im sure they’ll realize they removed their chips though, I wonder if crosshair will show up (he probably will) but if he does rather its gonna be a fight there between the empire and bb maybe the bb can win and save crosshair or they have to retreat and something else goes on idk. - Would love if Crosshair was saved because he really got the short end of the stick and is being called “the bad batch” but like he’s not even really there with them for the show so far... also you can tell subtly that he doesn’t like being alone which is fucking sad :tm: because all his friends are gone and it hurts even more now because wrecker was talking about how he didn’t want to do things and he was trying not to hurt them and stuff in his apology and you know damn well Crosshair is the same way about his friends he’s probably just a lot less expressive about it.  -- Honestly even bad batch aside can you imagine how terrible all of the clones feel like all the regs over all knowing theyre the downfall of the jedi and thinking that they were trying to resist it too. Like they know whats happening and deep inside theyre themselves but they cant do shit about it. That fucking hurts me.  This is a longer post but this episode was a roller coaster for my emotions.

BNHA CONCERT BAND AU BC IM A NERD
IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS OR REQUESTS OR HEADCANONS AKSJHD PLS ASK ME I LOVE BAND I LOVE MUSIC AND I LOVE THIS-
Izuku Midoriya:
Boy definitely plays a wind instrument. I’m assigning him clarinet
Wants to be first chair so bad, he practices so freaking much I swear
ALWAYS. IN. A. BAND. ROOM. with Iida and Uraraka. They’re always practicing
He’s so confused with music theory, please help him. He just,, WHY is it minor?? WHY IS THERE A SOLO WITH NOTHING WRITTEN?? WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE HAS TO IMPROVISE WITH THE CHORDS WRITTEN OVER THE BARS-
Ochako Uraraka:
ALTO SAXOPHONE-
She’s also comfortable enough to play 2nd or 3rd clarinet if needed, or even soprano saxophone
Doesn’t have her own instrument, she borrows from the school and she HATES the reeds, they’re crap. When someone gives her a good reed, she CHERISHES it.
In jazz band also! With the same instrument, but she doesn’t feel ready for solos so she’s usually 2nd or 3rd. Bro when she has to switch from swing to straight she ALWAYS forgets and it’s the band’s downfall.
Tenya Iida:
TRUMPET TRUMPET TRUMPET TRU-
And he’s one of THOSE trumpet players, by the way.
“Sir the French horns aren’t tuned” yeah, he has perfect pitch
Literally plays flight of the bumblebee as warm up. Or has his own warm up scales. Never practices right before practice though, he thinks it’s “too late” for that
Has his own trumpet, it’s silver with hints of gold/brass. Takes care of it RELIGIOUSLY.
He HATES having to blow out spit onto the floor, but dude what other choice do you have??
Momo Yaoyorozu:
Sweet angel 🥺🥺 she’s an oboe player
Definitely bought her own instrument
Sight reading MASTER. she instantly gets the key bro, it’s so rare that she forgets an incidental
Definitely leads sectionals all the time. And she does it WELL.
When people (*COUGH* BASSES*cough*) slowdown, she’ll sway to the beat in hopes that they’ll follow her
Kyoka Jirou:
Electric bass or contrabass, give her either and she’s good to go dude.
Also has perfect pitch and knows her music theory WAY more than a high school student should know. She’s a genius.
Her warm ups? Jam sessions with Hanta and Todoroki. She just shouts a key and they go. It’s usually jazz, she plays a pretty constant pattern, Todoroki tries to improvise but hanta takes over pretty quick-
Definitely in jazz band as well. Also in a school competition band (like singer and stuff), also a one-woman-band. She’s in so many bands dude.
Shouto Todoroki:
TENOR SAXOPHONE
Also has a background in flute bc his parents wanted him to have ~versatility~
Knows all the theory in his head, like he knows what’s going on, he just doesn’t know how to explain it
*false note* “sorry my instrument isn’t warmed up, it’s probably my reed”
Has plastic reeds. And reeds ESPECIALLY for jazz.
Oh yeah he’s in jazz band! Loves that he’s like, the only tenor saxophone so he gets all the solos
Rikidou Satou:
TUBA PLAYER IN DA HOUUUSSEEE
Buddy actually brings the tuba home to practice, he drags that thing AROUND.
Always. Slows. Down. But no one knows it’s his fault most of the time, they blame Sero-
Firmly believes in the “basses are the foundation of the orchestra” mindset, he’s so proud to be a bass
Kouji Kouda:
Soprano Saxophone, but can also handle clarinet if the need comes (he just loves the sound of soprano sax you guys)
DEFINITELY in jazz band, but as a Tenor Sax 2 bc he knows if he went as a soprano sax he probably would’ve gotten solos
Is it Momo’s oboe?? Is it Kouda’s soprano sax?? No one knows the different except those two and Jirou
Plays Shostakovich’s jazz suite no. 2 as a warm up
DEFINITELY A SWAYER. He just gets into the mood of the music and SWAYS.
Tooru Hagakure:
Flautist!! She chose it as an 11 y/o bc it was a girly instrument but she really likes it lol
A mediocre player, she spends most of warm up with Mina tho, she thinks that she’ll get to warm up when she’s playing bc I mean— no one hears the flutes
Wanted to main the picolo for the sole purpose that it’s an Ear Destroyer. Aizawa heard the mischief in her voice and said no.
Sight reading?? What’s that?? She has no idea what’s going on, she just pretends to play and when she’s comfortable with the melody, she’ll just step in. NEVER notices key changes and signatures.
Yuuga Aoyama:
LASKHDSJ FLAUTIST!! Also clarinetist. He loves being able to stay where he is during practice even though he changes instruments it’s sort of funny
His cheeks get SO SORE when he plays clarinet though and he WILL complain.
“My flute is so heavy!” Kind of guy.
Definitely has his own instruments and takes GREAT care of them.
Wetting his reed with his saliva?? No, he plops it in a glass of water instead (the reeds are definitely his own, and expensive)
Tsuyu Asui:
Trombone gang bro.
Positions are burnt into her brain dude she’ll never go out of tune.
SO SMOOTH. SOOOO SMOOO- dude she plays so well?? It’s never spitty, but during jazz (yes she’s in jazz), if it’s a moody piece she KNOWS how to make it juuussssttt airy enough to be beautiful
Not that good with fast songs, but she makes up for her amazing ass vibrato and her range. GOD-LIKE RANGE.
Mashirao Ojirou:
FRENCH HORN!!!
Omg he plays like a king. And he’s so proud of being the ONLY one playing French horn, but there is PRESSURE, because a French horn is rlly tricky to tune dude. Have you SEEN it??
Always keeps his mouthpiece with him, as if he’s afraid someone will play his instrument?? Like no dude it’s good in it’s case but you do you I guess
He doesn’t stand out that much, but in the majestic pieces where he has a 5 measure solo?? He gives it his all and he pulls it OFF. Those moments are always the highlight of the piece
Mezou Shouji:
Bass clarinet!!
Once he managed to growl through bass clarinet and literally ALL the saxophone players were jealous AS FUCK
Buddy goes to a low E♭ like it’s nothing?? And then he goes up to like a high high C and you’re sitting there like THE FUCKING RANGE-
His warmups are like, quick scales and arpeggios. Bro he’s so steady when he plays and he could play for HOURS. Sore cheeks?? Don’t know her.
He so proud of being a bass clarinetist, but when he saw an octobass clarinet?? Aizawa better order one of those for him RIGHT. NOW.
Fumikage Tokoyami:
Baritone saxophone. Also lowkey really wants to learn bassoon because it’s such an old instrument
SKSKS he and Shouji sit next to each other, Tokoyami loves to read off of Shouji’s partition and create the WORST fourths you’ll ever hear. Even Midoriya told them to shut the fuck up once
In jazz band too!! Still plays bari sax
Such,, a good,, sound. So,, meaty,, and full,, and HOT. Bari sax is HOT!!
Plays moanin’s intro as a warm up. Search up the song. It’s bomb.
He loves to figure out new sounds with his bari sax. The Too Many Zooz type of sounds
Hitoshi Shinsou:
PERCUSSIONIST. Especially loves the bells, timpani, vibraphone and marimba.
He’s in the back judging EVERYONE. It’s so great for him, he gets to stand there and cringe and no one will know
Totally able to play 4 mallets like the king he is
Surprisingly enough, he’s rlly good in music theory. Like he could probably compose or transpose something no problem
Aizawa’s favourite, of course. Will ask him to sit in front while they play and circle the parts where he thinks something sounds off
Now that we’ve talked about the NORMAL band kids, I present to you,,, the gremlin band kids
Mina Ashido:
Percussionist as well!! She loves snares but you’ll see her pick up castagnettes even if y’all are playing something like Gymnopédie no. 3 she’s a bit confused but she got the spirit.
CANNOT READ SHEET MUSIC. Like notes?? No. She can do beats, just not notes. Let Shinsou figure out the ancient languages dude
Her and Hagakure don’t warm up, they just gossip together.
Did this to Bakugou more than once
SHE DROPPED SO MUCH EQUIPMENT LIKE HOW DID SHE NOT BREAK ANYTHING YET??
Denki Kaminari:
TRUMPET.
Buddy AIMS to have his spit land on someone sitting in front of him (rip Todoroki and Uraraka)
Thinks he’s cool because he plays trumpet, but he always loses count. God forbid Iida cant show up to practice because Kaminari will die
“Where are we? What are we doing? Which piece are we doing? Where are we starting?” Oh my god he’s so lost can SOMEONE please help him
Always gets in trouble during band camps dude. He and Sero are the Bad Brass duo
Eijirou Kirishima:
EUPHONIUM BABEY!! He thinks it’s so cool and he’ll get so insulted if someone calls it a “mini tuba”
DONT GIVE HIM SHEET MUSIC IN BASS CLEF HE HATES IT PLS JUST TREBLE CLEF
So!! Protective of his euphonium. His name is Johnny, by the way. He named his instrument.
When they finish practicing a piece, he’s the first to give feedback. Usually it’s good, like praises for classmates he heard and thought were really good!!
He’s so sweet. Willing to help others during practice and sectionals too!! It’s so sad that he’s literally on the other side of the room bc KAMINARI NEEDS HIS HELP-
Katsuki Bakugou:
Hehehe he’s a flautist. I’ve stood by this headcanon for like two years.
And he wants to be THE BEST. You never knew growling could be done through a flute until you met Bakugou.
CANNOT STAND slow pieces. He wants to go all out all the time, he always speeds up when the tempo’s slow.
Also in jazz band with what? Flute. Yeah, this is George Benson Time.
Will hit you with his flute if you ever think badly of him for playing flute. He’ll defend flute ‘till he dies.
Hanta Sero:
TROMBONIST!!! TROMBONE BABEY.
Will be so happy if he’s in charge of bass trombone?? Like yay??
Always wants to hit Bakugou’s head while playing.
Bro his playing style?? You know the like, lazy-ish trombone playing? But it’s just so full and smooth and heavy anyways? That type of shit.
In jazz band, he’s actually a natural at jazz, doesn’t practice that much so he’s like not even in a good position, buddy just slouches and sight reads.
I love Hanta sm guys I could talk abt trombonist!Hanta forever

Everybody does AHS rankings... I’ll do an AHS hierarchy (1)
I know I am repeating myself like a broken disc but since I will probably post several AHS stuff with the double release of American Horror Stories and “AHS: Double Feature” (is that triple release?), I thought I would clearly explained my thoughts on the AHS seasons, to probably better explain the mindset with which I’ll receive the new releases.
And this first post is dedicated to what I call the “first era” of American Horror Story, going from seasons 1 to 6.
Seasons 1, 2 and 3 form for me the classic, “golden age”, original trilogy. They are the seasons that built AHS and form its true core and essence (or at least formed), and were among the bests AHS could provide. Mostly because they were the first and what made the show popular in the first place - this is a recurring problem with Falchuck and Murphy productions, they start great and end up horrible as time passes by (remember Glee?). This trio is also so great and strong because they are the only seasons that adhere to the original rule of the show, that is to say: Each season is a different story, with a different tone and a different universe, all unrelated to each other. This was a great strength of AHS and I feel it was one of the security measures of the show. Losing it wasn’t such a great idea.
These first seasons also perfectly represent and embody what AHS has to offer as a whole in terms of genre. Asylum is a darker, deeper and more violent horror, while Coven is a lighter and comedic horror, while Murder House stands a perfect “grey” balance between the two. Of course these three seasons had flaws here and there, true, and these flaws were precursors or embryos of the flaws of later seasons ; but at least these bad sides were so minor and small they did not hurt the overall quality of the season. So yeah, I do consider them kind of perfect.
Then came the first downfall, the first decay. Seasons 4 and 5... The flawed duo.
Rest assured by their success with the three previous seasons, the creators decided to enjoy themselves. The trouble is that as a result the flaws present in the previous seasons became major and diminished the quality of the stories. Those flaws are widely recognized now: the actors being put into repetitive and almost-identical roles for example ; or the creators trying to cram so much ideas, plots and characters into one season that many of them are abruptly removed (sometimes after one episode) or finish in dead-ends - the team of AHS always had too many ideas, ever since the early seasons, and while they could juggle it with crazy (in a good way) stories and by deleting scenes, in those two seasons they lost all control (the enormous amount of deleted footage of Freak Show is a proof to it). Oh yes another big flaw was the enforcing of “positive social messages”, at the detriment of the horror. It was already present in Coven (why try to put feminist messages and a “we girls bond” idea in a setting where the witches keep betraying and killing each other?), but it literaly burst out in Freak Show (first episode: the freaks, while suffering from discrimination and deep down good people, still follow a different set of morals, resulting in them killing and borderline-raping people according to given rules ; last episode: oh yes all freaks are in fact pure and innocent people spit upon by the world and so they naturally deserve heaven and all their crimes have to be ignored because the mere fact they have a physical defect makes them uncorruptible). And how could we forget a last one - from making tons of clever references and intelligent nods to masterpieces of horror, they turned to simply recreating popular movies and stories. Like... Your season Freak Show is inspired by “Freaks”, okay, it shows, it is a nice nod. But why recreate several scenes of the movie instead of just taking inspiration from them? And why then include the movie IN your universe? It ruins the references and the influence. It is like
So yeah... worst seasons compared to the first three.
BUT... and here is the thing. I still love those seasons. However my love for them might be strongly biased. You see, I was there when they aired, during the “Halloween seasons”. As autumn set upon the world, as the trees died and nights grew longer, as rain and fog swept the world, as Halloween came and went by, I was followed by those two seasons, week after week, and as a result I kind of have a strong nostalgia for them, and emotions that are quite unique to them and can’t be recreated.
And on the other side, despite their dreadful flaws in characterization, plot managing and storytelling, these seasons still had something extremely precious. I guess you could call it personality. The visuals of these seasons were absolutely sublime (as all AHS visuals are) ; the sets, decors, buildings and landscapes are memorable ; the musics were perfectly chosen ; the ambiance and tone of those seasons were unique and worked very well, and they had some neat and clever ideas that stayed throughout the history of AHS (Dandy! Twisty! James March!). Even if the story is a mess, even if the content can be predictable or repetitive, even if the endings are greatly disappointing, you still watched these seasons to enter and discover a brand new universe, to feel something deep, to have your brain shaped by the visuals and musics that created these unique, otherwordly, and disturbing ambiances, each giving Halloween its own unique ambiance.
I can’t sum it up better than that.
Despite this, these seasons were still part of a letdown and a decay, and the creators of AHS realized that. Many old recurring stars were leaving now, as new recurring actors arrived, the flaws had reached massive points, there was a need for renewal. And this renewal came under the shape of the sixth season, AHS: Roanoke. The end of an era, the beginning of a new one.
AHS: Roanoke was a return to what made the original seasons loved - a dark, mature, deep form of horror, a la Asylum. But it was also a correction of all the flaws of the previous seasons: no more hyper-expansive casts, no more maze of plots and subplots, no more repetitive roles, everything was concise, focused, new. The horror references were reduced back to horror references, not carbon copies. And above all, ABOVE ALL! This was an insanely clever season, in both its marketing and main body. This season played with conventions and expectations. It broke the usual format of the previous seasons while also making meta-fictional plays, by using the “television show in a television show” format ; it played on the concepts of what television shows you and what happens in real life ; and its “mysterious marketing campaign” keeping the season a secret until the final release and playing a complex and massive playing game was genius.
AHS: Roanoke was a great season, back to the level of the first ones, like Murder House or Asylum.
I will stop this first post here because I do consider that AHS post-Roanoke became something else, entered a... a “second era” much different from the first one.
