His heavy breathing was loud as it echoed through the small closet room. He was cold as they had stripped him of his jacket six days ago and left him with only his shirt, jeans and socks. A thin yarn of a ripped up blanket was his only source of warmth, but that did little to help as he shivered.
Thanks to the cloth binded around his eyes, Shoto had been kept in the dark even when he ate as they would feed him scraps as well as giving him water though the liquid would mostly drip down his chin, gathering around the hem of his shirt.
His hands were also tied behind his back though it wasn’t as tightly as he suspected. In all honesty, it felt like he was being cared for as whoever would bring him food took their time in giving it to him.
He would have been alarmed and he is, but a part of him suspected it was his eldest brother, Touya, though he now went by Dabi. The younger male has tried to have his caregiver speak to him, but all he was met with was silence.
He was left with his thoughts everyday. There were times where he wanted to cry as all he could think about was his mentor dying, his friend dying, and lastly, his family. Being alone had memories of which he thought he sealed away come back up.
The face of his mother’s bloody face, his brother's corpse, his sister being eaten alive and his father being gunned down. He was alone and he hated being alone. He wanted someone to be here with him, someone to hold him and tell him everything was going to be okay.
He wanted his mother. He desperately wanted her. He just wanted to go back to his family, his dysfunctional family. But even then, he was still alone.
The door was suddenly banged on, causing the restless male to jump as he had no idea what was going on. The door hinged open and the male was yanked to his feet where he was then shoved forward, a tight grip on his arm was the only thing keeping him in place.
He was rather annoyed at being pushed, but he wouldn’t comment as he needed to hear his surroundings. A few people were chattering, laughing, and doors were opening. He could slightly see through the dark cloth since the bridge of his nose had left a small opening.
He squinted as he looked through it, trying to get a clear image of what he was looking at. He knew he was still inside the building as he could feel the cold floor underneath his clothed feet. There were times where he slipped due to how fast he was walking though he was quickly yanked back to his feet.
He then felt himself stop moving and a door in front of him could be heard opening. Through the same small opening, he could tell he was being moved outside as the sunlight peeked through. His feet ached as he went down some stairs and onto some gravel. He needed a break but he doubted he’d get that as his grunts made no effort.
He then heard rattling and he was then shoved to his knees as he was sure they were scrapped due to the rocks underneath him. His attention was then caught to the sounds of snarls, his sense was on high alert and he tried to get up though he was harshly pushed back down.
The snarls caused him to panic but he kept it under control, letting out heavy breaths. As he did so, from the other side of the gate, Tomura walked with Dabi by his side, a mischievous glint in his eye as they both looked at the younger male, sitting in the middle of the surrounded gates with tied up rotters trying to get him, “Family is important, afterall.”
Dabi’s eye twitched as he could see his brother almost about to be devoured. He kept calm as he knew Tomura wanted to get a reaction out of him and the raven male wasn’t going to let that happen.
The man in charge grinned as he looked at his men and nodded. The two men understood and quickly grabbed Dabi, disarming him and dragged him inside the gates ignoring the yells that came out of him and where they then shoved him towards Shoto and lastly closing the gates behind them.
The older brother quickly got on his feet, undid Shoto’s binds and looked at Tomura, “Is this what you want!?”
Shoto groaned due to the sun blinding his eyes as they had been covered for days. He let his eyes get used to the sunlight, but his eyes widened as he glared at the rotters in front, “What the hell is going on!?”
Tomura once again nodded to his men. The same ones who shoved Dabi let the ropes that were tied to the dead go. The dead now had free range and they aimed straight to the brothers who quickly got in position to defend themselves.
“Act cool, alright?” Dabi quietly spoke so only Shoto could hear, “I’ll get us out of this.”
Shoto scoffed, his eyes never leaving the dead, “Like you did last time?”
“Keep your shit cool.” Dabi huffed out.
Tomura laughed as one of the dead almost grabbed Dabi’s clothes, “Stay alive and maybe I’ll think about not killing you! Hell, maybe I’ll keep you both!”
When the first rotter approached Dabi, the taller male grabbed its arm, not letting the fact the arms were mushy bother him as the male held onto it tightly then lifted his leg to kick it’s stomach. The rotter fell back, its arms were disconnected as Dabi held it. He then broke both of the arms in half, the crunching caused Shoto’s eyes to briefly glance his way.
He was disgusted, “What are you doing?”
Dabi pulled a bone out and passed it to him, “Getting us out alive.”
The bloody bone felt uncomfortable in Shoto’s hand. He wanted to throw it away and shake his hand so the feeling of it would disappear. He could also feel a bit of flesh that clung onto it. He honestly felt like he wanted to cut his hand off right after.
A dead snarling brought Shoto back as the male wasted no time in sticking the bone through the eye socket. He yanked it back out, shoving the rotter into the arms of another as a different dead quickly came up to him. He proceeded to do the same, though this time stabbing it through the side of the head, just above the ears.
He regretted it instantly as blood squirted everywhere, getting on his already dirty shirt. He grimaced, wanting to wipe his face, “Can’t you tell him to stop!?”
Dabi grunted as he killed one then shoving it away, “Don’t you think I would have done that by now!?”
“It’s your damn people!” Shoto angrily said as he could feel himself getting tired as it seemed the dead were too stubborn to die.
Dabi scoffed and mutter underneath his breath to where only he could hear himself, “As if I had a fucking choice.”
Before Shoto could manage to kill another one, bullets came flying at them. They both lifted their hands to protect their head as they stayed down trying to not let a bullet hit them. One had managed to graze Shoto’s arm and he let out a hiss as he could feel his blood gliding down his arm.
Tomura let out a laugh as his rifle had run out of ammo. He killed the remaining rotters and signaled his men to open the gates and let the brothers out, unkindly. For now, he would keep Shoto as he was a collateral to Sorston. As long as the male was within his reach, Sorston had everything to fear as Tomura was sure Nezu didn’t want any of his people dying.
He walked towards them, his boots crunching on the skull of the dead. He maliciously grinned as he placed a hand on the younger male, a glint in his eyes as he spoke, “Welcome to your new family!”
Dabi eyed them as he wiped his nose to remove the rotter's blood. There was a moment where he envisioned himself, months ago, standing in the same spot with that same glare and being drenched in blood.
He had no choice but to stay as if anyone were to leave; they'd be hunted down and be on display for everyone to see. He had to play the long game, waiting for the right moment and that moment came as Dabi stared at his younger brother.

The mass of rotters below them had Katsuki, Denki and Eijiro sneer. It's like they knew the three were up there and were waiting for one of them to make a fatal mistake. But, of course they didn’t know, otherwise everyone would have been dead due to their functioning brains.
Thankfully, the sun had come up, giving them the advantage as they looked for a way out.
“And you wanted us to go to the RV this morning.” Eijiro said, giving Katsuki a look.
The blonde rolled his eyes, though they never left the dead below them, “As if I knew they would still be here. Look at them. All that gunfire brought in more.”
Denki sniffled, looking and then pointing at the next building across, “Why don’t we just jump there? The alleys narrow so I’m positive no one will fall.”
Eijiro and Katsuki looked at him as if he were dumb and the male frustratedly crossed his arms, “At least I’m trying! I don’t hear you guys coming up with anything.”
“No, wait, he’s right.” Eijiro stepped on the ledge and examined the space that separated the buildings, “If we throw the stuff first we can make it. I doubt the horde will leave anytime soon and we don’t have time to spare.”
Katsuki let out an irritated sigh. It wasn’t that he was in terrible shape, in fact he was pretty built if he said so himself, but jumping from roof to roof was something he did not want to do, “Fine. Dumbass, how far are we to home?”
Denki gave him a glare before looking at the map, “Not far. Don’t tell me we’re leaving already. We barely have anything! What about the same place we went to last time, y’know, the warehouse.”
“Assuming it’s still even there, dude.” Eijiro grabbed the duffel bags, “Someone could have already found the place and claimed it.”
“Even if they did, we’re still taking it.” The blonde quickly said, “If we have to, we’ll bring more people.”
He placed the map in his back pocket, unsure of where they were going next, “So are we heading there? It’s a day away.”
“We should at least look at it before deciding to move in.” The redhead grunted as he threw the bag to otherside, a smile on his face as it landed with a thud, “Otherwise we would have gone for nothing.”
“Fine. Whatever.” The blonde stretched as the jump was pretty far but yet close. All he wanted was to go back home and see F/n. He hasn’t had time to even think about her considering he had to be focused.
He wondered if she was still even there, if Izuku had managed to convince her to stay or perhaps she told him off and left anyway. A thought like that bothered him. He wasn’t giving his all into his mission and was instead focused on a girl like a school boy.
“Stretching is for losers.” Denki said while smuggling looking at Katsuki.
The said loser scoffed, “See what happens after you pull a muscle.”
Denki gave him a wink as he took a couple steps back and ran, lifting his feet off the ledge where he landed on the roof with a smile. His heart had paced as he made it. He then turned around, getting up and raising his hands with a grin, “Yo! That was sick!”
“Shut it you moron!” Katsuki scoffed, “You’ll draw attention!”
Eijiro let out a chuckle. He wasn’t sure if he would ever get to see Denki smiling or being his cheery self again. This moment was something that could be engraved into his memory.
Clutching his gun, Eijiro grinned at his close friend before taking off, “Last one there takes watch!”
The blonde smirked, following after him, “You’re on!”
They jumped on three roof buildings, and the narrow alley helped them cross. The wind slapping on their faces honestly felt good. If only they wished they could be this free, without a worry in mind. The gravel underneath hurt their feet, their shoes were beginning to get worn down and they needed to replace it, but for now they would enjoy this moment, feeling like kids once again.
“Ahh!” Denki slipped, the gravel hurting his back as he landed. He scraped his hands and he hissed, blowing on them to cool it down, “That hurts!”
“Aha!” Katsuki cackled, clutching his stomach and slightly bending to catch his breath, “You fucking moron! I told you!”
“Dude, seriously?” Eijiro grunted when he landed, making his way to the two and giving Denki an unimpressed look, “How did you even slip?”
“It freaking burns!” The yellow male furiously waved his hands around, tears clinging on his eyelids, “Help me! Help me! Help me!”
The blonde tried to contain his laugh, but when he glanced down at Denki’s shoes, he ended up choking on his spit as the bottom of it had disappeared, leaving him in his socks. He turned and pounded on his chest to clear his airway.
Eijiro, on the other hand, shook his head. He wasn't sure if Katsuki was laughing or choking, either way, they needed to get off the rooftop and find a vehicle, then make their way straight to the warehouse, “Get up, Denki and quit laughing or dying Katsuki.”
“Yeah, it’s not funny.” Denki continued to blow on his palm as specks of blood were gathered on it, “Does anyone have a bandaid?”
Once he caught his breath, Katsuki let out a sigh and passed Denki a piece of cloth, “No one has bandaids, idiot. Just use that.”
Denki sneered in disgust , “Ew, it smells like sweat.”
“Put it on!”
“Okay!”
They eventually found a ladder by the side of the building and climbed down. Once they were on their feet, they stayed low, going vehicle to vehicle as a few lingering rotters were by. As they waited for it to pass, the redhead grabbed one of the car's door handle. He softly scoffed when it wouldn’t open.
“We’ll find a car away from here.” Katsuki quietly spoke, his eyes never leaving the dead, “A big one.”
“So, we are going?” Denki asked, slightly moving the blonde's spiky hair as it tickled his nose.
“Yes, idiot. Now stay quiet.” The other male mocked the blonde behind his back. If it weren’t for the dead, he would be having fun.
With the dead finally gone, they crossed the street where they entered an alley to keep them hidden. Since Katsuki took the lead, he was at the front of the line and watched for any dead nearby.
A rotter had managed to spot the blonde and it  made its way to him. When it was in reach, the blonde quickly grabbed the front of its ripped shirt and plung its knife into it. The squelch caused Denki to cringe.
He then carefully but quickly placed it on the ground as another dead had looked his way, though upon not seeing the alive male it slowly limped away.
“We should tell Ochaco’s team to check this place out.” Eijiro said as he stood behind the other two, “I’m sure there right behind us.”
“Nah,” Katsuki peered his head out, “they turned back. Pink cheeks said something about the council team needing them.”
“I do not remember that.” Denki said, standing in between them, “Wouldn’t they also need us?”
“She told me through the radio.” Katsuki shrugged as he cautiously made his way out the alley, the other two followed, “If Nezu needed us, he would have said so.”
Eijiro adjusted the bags on his shoulder, “What if Tomura arrived early?”
“If has, his pasty ass can wait.” Katsuki sneered, his rifle hitting his side, “We’re killing ourselves by just being out here.”
Denki snorted as Eijiro simply shook his head. They hoped that he hadn’t arrived as it was too soon. Way too soon.
They entered another alley and walked through it where they stood in a street of abandoned brick  buildings. The brick sidewalk hurt Denki's poor feet and he would whine underneath his breath as they continued.
They stood in a plaza, a mossy, unkempt water fountain was designed in the middle, a few benches placed a couple feet away and behind those benches were flower beds, though the flowers have withered away. Trees also sat by, the leaves were in shades of oranges, some fell above them, indicating winter would arrive soon.
“This place kind of reminds me of Musutafu.” Eijiro let his eyes wander, “It reminds me of the mall.”
“Damn, do I miss the mall.” Denki let out a sigh, reminiscing about those days, “Anyone see a shoe store?”
Katsuki let out a snicker, “If we spot one we’ll let you kno-”
“Nevermind, found one.” Denki ran to the store and pressed himself up against the glass. He wiped a dusty area before peeking in, his breath began to fog up the window, “I don’t see anything. Everything looks like it's been untouched.”
“Possibly a trap?” Eijiro muttered to himself as he walked to the glass doors. He grabbed his rifle that was strapped to him, his eyes looked to the side of the door in case of any wires, but it was hard to see due to the dark.
Behind them was Katsuki who eyed every building, “Who the hell would want to trap a shoe store?”
“Someone probably likes their shoes.” Eijiro joked as he slowly opened the door.
When he took a step in, his feet had tipped a wire. His eyes widened as a loud alarm was then set off, the trio being on high alert and quickly lifted their rifles. Before they could enter the store to where they could take cover, a few people emerged from their hiding spot, their own sets of guns aimed at them.
The males could only glare as they were at a disadvantage . There was no entering the store as a gun cocked behind them with a tone laced with malice, “Put your weapons down.”

She laid in bed, her blankets had been taken by Izuku who slept peacefully next to her. She was a bit cold, but she didn’t mind it so as long as Izuku was comfortably sleeping, besides, she had to go see Yawara about the painkillers she had brought.
She had forgotten about it until she grabbed her bag last night and headed to her room. The pills rattling echoed through the silent house. Spilling her love caused her to have a major headache and she thought about taking at least a pill, though she knew it’d be a bad idea as she didn’t want to die from poisoning.
Since Izuku’s back was pressed up to her side, she could feel every breath he took. He was extremely warm and part of it was due to the blankets, but his warmth had her feeling lazy, not wanting to get off the bed. She wanted to sleep by his side until tomorrow.
Eventually, she sat up, reaching over to grab her shirt and put it over her tank top. The ends of her bedsheets were covered in dried blood due to her jeans that she never changed out of. Izuku had quickly wanted the both to get in bed so she had to sleep in her work clothes as he slept in a sweat and t-shirt.
She proceeded to slowly get off the bed, fully covering Izuku and quietly left the room with her bag in hand. When she reached downstairs, she grabbed a sticky note and informed Izuku of where she would be before heading out.
After visiting Yawara, she needed to talk to Nezu or Gunhead to allow her to venture out alone looking for supplies, as bringing someone would only be deadweight. And she wanted to be alone anyways, at least it would clear her mind and rethink her life choices she’s made so far.
Mostly everyone was out doing their duty. Some people waved at her and offered a kind smile and she returned the wave. She needed to start thinking on the bright side, even if it's little by little.
She opened the glass door and entered, spotting Ochaco sitting on a stool as she looked at a book of medicine. The door chiming caught both of their attentions, she looked at the bell a bit bewildered as Ochaco looked at her.
“F/n, right?” Ochaco asked as she bookmarked her page and closed it, then offering a small smile to her.
“Yeah.” The other girl looked back at her before closing the door. She opened and closed her mouth, her brows furring in confusion, “Sorry, is Yawara here?”
She shook her head, “He’s in a meeting right now. He should be back later, I’m not sure what time though.”
“Okay.” F/n said as she looked around, then at her, “Sorry, I don't think we’ve met.”
She stood up from the stool, “Ah, I’m so sorry about that, I’m Ochaco Uraraka. I guess I kind of figured Izuku would have mentioned me.”
The brown-headed girl felt embarrassed as she could feel her cheeks redden. She hoped F/n didn’t notice and if she did she wouldn’t mention it. She then looked to her hand where she spotted no ring. She decided not to mention it as Izuku was possibly saving it for some special occasion. Although her heart ached, it was for the good.
“Oh, no he hasn’t mentioned you.” F/n shrugged, “Anyways, I’m F/n L/n. Nice to meet you.”
She reached her hand out to shake Ochaco’s hand and the brown-headed girl happily shook it, “Yeah, I’ve heard a lot about you! From Izuku mostly and…”
She was unsure of whether to mention Hanta’s name, so she refrained from doing so. The h/c haired girl did notice as she looked away, suddenly feeling gloomy.
“You came here for something, right? I can help you with that!” Ochaco could feel the tension growing and she wanted to make the girl at least a bit happier. Why? She didn’t know, maybe it was because she needed another friend and she didn’t let the fact that Izuku liked her be a problem.
“Oh, right.” F/n reached to her bag where she pulled out painkillers and handed it to her, “I’m sure it’s no good considering its been opened and in a burning building. I just wanted to make sure before one of us consumed it.”
Ochaco opened it, letting a pill fall on her hand, “Well if it's been in a burning building then it's no good. It would have been different if it wasn’t and if a cotton ball had been stored inside.”
“Cotton ball?” The other girl asked, as she looked at Ochaco who smiled at her. “To keep the moisture off.”
“Ahh, that makes sense.” She said, “Uh, anyways, that’s all I came here to ask.”
“If you have any more questions or need anything feel free to ask!” Ochaco threw the pills away.
F/n stood there for a moment as she thought, “Actually…there’s something I’ve been meaning to ask.”
Suddenly, Ochaco felt tense. Had Izuku told her about their relationship? Was the girl going to beat her to a pulp for something that happened years ago? “Sure…what is it?”
“I noticed there were a few poles outside the walls yesterday. Some roads had been marked as well.” F/n crossed her arms, “What’s that about?”
The brown-headed girl mentally let out a sigh of relief as she composed herself, “We’re expanding the walls sometime today. None of the council are on schedule as their meeting had to do about the wall. They need a few people on lookout while the construction team does their job.”
Hearing her say that they needed a few extra hands had F/n perked up. She practically felt useless and wanted to get her hands dirty. Thankfully Ochaco had noticed, “Since I’m also going, I’ll ask Gunhead to put you on! He wouldn’t mind.”
Her beaming smile was almost contagious as F/n also felt like smiling, but she refrained from doing so and instead softened her look, “Thank you, Ochaco. Really.”
“No problem!” She said, her smile never leaving, “I’ll come look for you later!”
With that, F/n left the room and decided to head to her job as she wanted to know just how many guns were left before Tomura came to take it all. She’s thought of hiding one, but what good would that do when they realize that one of the weapons was missing.
As she suspected, Gunhead wasn’t around. Her disappointment was evident as almost nothing was left. The guns they had taken to fight Tomura had been taken by the male, making the bins empty, the room empty. A few pistols and ammo were what was left. When Katsuki, Denki and Eijiro returned their rifles would add to the small collection, but it wasn’t enough.
She scratched her brow as she sat on the stool, unsure of what to do. A magazine lying around had caught her attention. She picked it up and read the first page. When she turned to the next, a nude girl was on display, causing her eyes widened, a faint blush appearing on her cheeks, “What the..”
She wondered how the girl could even do that awkward position as it looked painful. She flicked through a few more, almost wanting to laugh at how disturbed she was. Who knew Gunhead was into this.
Upon hearing the front door open, she jolted and seeing Izuku come in made her feel ashamed for even looking at such a thing.
“What are you reading?” Izuku asked as his brows furrowed as he saw the magazine. He crossed his arms, giving her a look, “Why are you reading that?”
She quickly closed it, giving him a strained smile, “I thought it was about guns. Honest!”
“You see a nude girl on the front and you think it’s about guns?” He said, yanking it out of her hand and throwing it elsewhere.
“We-well,” She pointed to it, “The back had a picture of one—Y’know what, nevermind. What are you doing here?”
“Well, seeing as you left me alone, I had to come see you.” He said, looking around the room, “There’s barely anything here.”
“Yeah.” She pursed her lips, “Thought about cleaning them, maybe polish them up. I don’t know. Do something.”
He took a seat next to her, the stool wobbled underneath and he thanked F/n for placing her foot on the foot rest. He then looked at her, a small smile appearing on his lips and a thin coat of blush on his cheeks, “Can I ask you something?”
“Sure, I’m all ears.” She said, picking up another magazine, thankfully not a dirty one.
He opened his lips, though when he glanced at her he kindly took the magazine out of her hand, replacing it with his hands. He wasn't sure why he was afraid to ask, maybe it was because he feared she’d changed her mind, “..What are we?”
Her brows quirked, “Uh, we’re Izuku and F/n..?”
“No.” He slightly shook his head and let out an airy chuckle, “I mean..what are we?”
She tilted her head confused at where he was getting at, “I don’t think I understand you. Are you not Izuku? I’m confused.”
Oh, this girl was as loose as a floorboard. She’d probably compete next to Shoto.
He cleared his throat, giving her a tiny smile as he explained it in a way she’d understand, or at least hoped to as he could feel he was making a mess out of himself, “I know you love me and I love you too. I want to know what we are to each other. Am I..your boyfriend..? Do you understand where I’m getting at?”
“I thought that was pretty self-explanatory.” She cursed herself for having the male confused. She then waved her hand, “As long you're mine that's all that really matters.”
He hummed with pleasure, his eyes then shined as he reached into his pockets, “I forgot to give you something!”
She looked at his hands, her eyes widened when he pulled a ring out and she stuttered, “Wha-what is that?”
She nervously chuckled, eyeing the gem, “Do-dont you think we should start slow? I mean, this is like a big commitment and marriage takes years to build up, right? I don't thin-”
Thankfully, Izuku stopped her before she finished her sentence otherwise the male would have been upset, “It’s a gift! Like a promise ring! You’ve heard of those, right?”
“Sure.” She nodded, though she had no idea what that was.
Her tone had him thinking otherwise. He grabbed her hand and placed it in her palm, “A promise ring is commitment. There’s many meanings behind it, but I prefer mine. I want us to promise each other that we’re both in this together and not one of us is left behind. Where you go, I go. Just you and me.”
She smiled as she looked into his eyes, “Y’know you’re kind of cheesy?”
He blushed, covering his face in embarrassment, “I know, I’m sorry. It’s just…I’ve never done this before so I wanted everything to be perfect. I had an entire plan where I would confess to you, but I've been waiting for the right moment and I haven’t found it yet. I’m glad, though, that you managed to do it before me. I figured I would screw it up.”
He then looked at her, “You’re a real romantic, y’know that?”
This time she blushed and let out a small grunt, “I don’t know where that came from. Something about you opens up a part of me.”
“You’re doing it again.” She groaned at herself, ignoring Izuku’s soft laughter. She then stood up trying to change the subject, “I talked with Ochaco about putting me outside. I think Nezu’s planning on expanding the community, so they need a few hands to keep watch.”
“You’re going outside?” Izuku stood up, his worried expression showing, “Don’t you think you should be here? It’s safer.”
She gave him a look, “Seriously? Have you met me?”
He rolled his eyes, “Okay, okay, but why didn’t you ask me first?”
“Why would I?” She asked, “I’m the one going outside, not you.”
“Because we’re together!” He said, exasperating.
“So, because we're together I need to tell you everything?” She generally looked confused, “What kind of bullshit rule is that?”
It was like he was dating Katsuki mixed with Shoto. He let out a sigh, not wanting to let their relationship start off wrong, “It’s important to me.”
“Why?” She said though she retracted her statement when he gave her a look, “Okay, fine. I’ll let you know what I’m doing from now on.”
“Thank you.” Izuku smiled though his smile disappeared as F/n opened her mouth. “Should I let you know when I’m going to be taking a shit, as well?”
“F/n.”
She wondered if Hanta was laughing at her.

“Yum, I always dreamed of eating chicken out of a can.” F/n said as her eyes lowered at the spoon of chicken chunks. It was cooked, but the watery white paste and the soggy vegetables with the pasta that were also added disgusted her.
Next to her, Hitoshi watched as she let the chicken chunks plop back into the can. Some juice had splashed out, landing on his hand and with a face he wiped his hand on his jeans, “Ew.”
“Bet it’s tasty too.” She grabbed a spoonful, looking at before a grin etched on her face and waved it to the male's lip beside her, “Open wide!”
“I’m not gonna put that in my mouth after you just put it in yours!” He backed his head away.
She made train noses as she inched closer, “Here comes the train!”
He held her wrist so that she wouldn't come any closer, “Stop it!”
She laughed and went back into her seat. She lifted her can and looked at his, “Wanna trade? I’d rather eat beans than this. It’s probably rotten.”
He held his beans closer to his chest, “And let myself get food poisoning? No.”
She huffed as she set the can down and leaned back on her hands, looking at the night sky, “This blows.”
He slowly munched in his food and looked at the fire crackling, silently agreeing with her, “You want to go see Itsuka? I’m sure she’s still up and bored.”
“Hell yeah.” She stood up, her back popping in the process. She then looked at the male as he stood up, wiping his hands from the small dirt that latched on him, “Maybe we can tell her our secret, if you know what I mean.”
He gave her a look as they both walked to the injured girl's home, “The way you say it…makes it sound so wrong.”
Her eyes widened as a blush sat on her cheeks, “What?! I didn’t mean it like that! I would never do that with you! I mean-!”
He refused to let out a smile as they reached the top of the stairs where Itsuka resided. He entered with F/n closing the door and knocked on the bedroom door. When he heard a voice telling them to come in, he entered, “Bored?”
“You bet.” She grunted, her brows furrowed when she closed her book, “I’ve already read this twice. I even read the part where the author tells their life story.”
“That’s boring.” He said and sat near her covered legs, “We thought we’d come by and keep you company.”
“That’s sweet.” The girl smiled and tried to move to allow F/n to sit next to her.
“You’re good.” F/n raised her hand to stop her movement as she pulled a chair out. She grinned as she leaned on the chair, her chest resting to the backside, “So…what’s my dad like? You guys had him as a teacher, right?”
“Scary!” Itsuka quickly said with a smile, “I didn’t have him personally, but from what I heard, he was very strict. So thankful for having Mr. Kan, even though he was also strict.”
“He wasn’t that bad.” Hitoshi grumbled as his fingers played Itsuka’s blanket, “He’s a great tutor. Helped me with all my classes.”
“Oh!” F/n laughed out and pointed at the male, “Now I know why you look so familiar! I remember seeing you in my dads car when he gave you a ride back home! You remember that?”
As he thought, Itsuka confusingly looked at her, “You don’t go to U.A? I thought since your dad worked there, you went there too?”
“Nah.” She waved her hand, “I wanted to stay with my friends.”
“What school did you go to?” The orange-haired girl asked, ignoring Hitoshi as he mumbled in thought, “I’m assuming it has to be close to our school.”
“Isamu Academy.” She smiled, “Besides wanting to stick with my friends, they have a great Archery class.”
“You know how to do that?” She beamed, “That’s so cool! When I’m healed, maybe you can teach me?”
“Totally!” F/n then pointed at the male beside them, “Maybe you can do better than him. With the way things are going I honestly don’t know if he has it in him.”
“I’m right here.” The male glared at her before looking at Itsuka. His eyes then wondered to her wound that was covered, “Did Yagi come by?”
“Ah, yeah.” She grunted when she shifted in her seat, the pain coming back, “I think it’s healing fine. Sometimes I can feel it, but there are times where it's numb.”
Unknowingly, F/n and Hitoshi shared a glance as Itsuka looked down to her clothed wound. Hearing her say she couldn’t feel it was concerning, especially since the wound had stitches.
“Have you told Yagi?” He asked, looking away from F/n.
She nodded, her smile faltering, “He said it might be the pain meds rejecting, or whatever that meant. But he’s been keeping a close eye on it. Coming in every hour to clean it.”
“That’s good, right?” F/n glanced at them, trying to brighten the mood, “Besides, my dad brought a load of supplies which meant he must have brought painkillers. Bet if I ask him he would give me some.”
“Actually,” Itsuka looked down at her hands, “Yagi also mentioned that I might need a shot. Considering there’s no doctor around, who knows If I…who knows when that might happen.”
“Maybe a doctor will happen to stumble on by…” Hitoshi said, “What are the chances?”
“Yeah, right. We’ll be lucky to even have a nurse or whatever is the term for those who aren’t good enough to be doctor come by.” F/n said as she let out a laugh, but she groaned and clutched her leg when the male kicked her shin.
He gave her a  look as if to say, “Seriously?”
Itsuka chuckled, ignoring their behavior, “Yeah, but we got to keep hopeful, right?”
“Exactly.” The other two said, offering her a smile. Hitoshi then whipped out a deck of cards that he stuffed in his pockets. They settled for a simple game, one that he was good at. The two girls had trouble keeping up with his speed. It wasn’t until the fourth round where F/n slammed her cards down and glared at him, “How!? I almost won!”
He smugly smiled as he fanned himself with his cards, “I’m a natural.”
Itsuka laughed as they bickered. Her yawn then caught their attention. She wanted to continue playing, but her eyes threatening to close saddened her, “I think it’s time for me to turn in. Can you guys come back in the morning?”
“Yep!” F/n said as she placed the chair back, “Don’t you worry about it. We’ll come back with pizza or something.”
Hitoshi shook his head and let out a sigh at her, “Goodnight, Itsuka.”
Hearing her call back, they closed her bedroom, her lamp peeking underneath her door. When they entered outside, he turned to F/n, “I do remember you.”
She smiled, letting him continue, “It was raining and he forgot to pick up something from the school. I looked in the backseat and you were passed with a bag next to you. Aizawa told me not to worry about the way you slept, cause your neck was bent and you were halfway out of your seat.”
“Ah.” Her smile grew as they reached his home, which wasn’t too far since it was right next door, “I came back from a game. I remember seeing your hair before I slept. Man, that was long ago wasn’t it?”
“A year or so.” He said as he opened his door. He then awkwardly glanced back at her, giving her a stiff smile, “..Goodnight, I guess.”
“Goodnight, Hitoshi.” She waved at him, walking down the stairs slowly until she heard his door close. She then quickly headed to her father that was in the parking lot, staring at something in his hand, “Dad. What are you doing?”
He quickly closed his fist and looked at her, his brow furrowed, “Aren’t you supposed to be asleep? It’s past midnight.”
“How do you even know it's past midnight?” She mumbled as she looked at the sky before sitting down next to him, “And to answer your question, I was with Hitoshi. Your super star student!”
He smiled at her, “You two seem to be getting close.”
Her smile disappeared as she gave him a dead look, “Wherever you’re getting at, don’t.”
Despite the feeling of being incomplete, he softly let out a chuckle, “It’s good to see you making friends and with Hitoshi no less. You two are completely different so to see you two together is surprising.”
“Yeah, I can see that.” She tilted her head as she imagined the boy's face, a faint blush appearing on her cheeks but she quickly shook off, unknowingly her father catching the sight.
“Do you like it here?” He suddenly asked as he stared ahead to where the curtains swayed, “It’s small. Not a lot of people to keep safe.”
She hummed, “I guess. I mean, I haven’t met everyone yet, but they look friendly and besides I made some friends.” She stared away at the stars and looked at him, already knowing if she were to ask the same question, he would agree with her only to keep her happy. Instead, she settled for the first question she asked, “What are you even doing here? I thought you’d be asleep. Or with Yamada or Kayama, or Yagi.”
“Don’t worry about it.” He ruffled her hair, careful to not touch her bandage and as always, he reverted the question back to her. She never seemed to catch on, which he found amusing, “Did Toshinori check that out?”
“Yeah.” She pulled away from him and fixed her hair, “It’s looking good, nasty, but good.”
“Just make sure it doesn’t start to smell. That’s when we have to start working.” He said, “Did you behave?”
She sweatdropped as she looked away from him, “Of course!”
Speaking of wounds, she glanced at her father. The face of Itsuka popped in her mind, “Itsuka is worried her wound isn’t healing right. I think she’s trying her best to not seem scared and she’s doing a really good job at that. So, props to her.”
“Yeah.” Shota mumbled, his eyes glancing at her as he thought back to what Toshinori had told him.
Her wound, Itsuka’s, has gotten badly infected. It looked like it was swelling from the red skin. Bodily fluids were coming out and her veins around were a dark shade of purple that had the older male deeply concerned for her. Toshinori had said it was a miracle she wasn’t in excruciating pain, considering the smell it was emitting. The smell wasn’t strong, but if you were to get closer to it, then you could definitely tell something was wrong.
He knew it wasn’t the dead’s blood that had infected it, otherwise she would have been long dead. The reaction could have been from not having the right sedation. Without a shot, she would surely die.
The news had Shota upset, considering Itsuka used to be a student at his school. A good student who aced all her tests and made friends with almost everyone due to her kindness.
He wanted to reassure his daughter, but he didn’t want to put hopes in her head. Instead he settled for a smile and ruffled her hair again, ignoring the glare she sent him, “Go to bed. I want you to help me with something tomorrow morning.”
Her eyes brightened as she stood up, “Am I going outside to help you look for stuff?!”
“No.”
Her eyes lost her shine, “Fine. Goodnight.”
“Goodnight.” Hearing the door close, he let out a long sigh. His  head dropped to where he could see his closed fist. He blinked as he opened them, the wedding ring neatly sitting on the palms of his hand.

Time kept on moving as they walked down the road, a store just right ahead. They chatted, mostly catching up on what happened after Shota had left. It had already been said, but the male refused to believe that some cities had been bombed and nothing was left. He wondered what would happen if the same thing happened to Musutafu. Surely they’d all be dead, but maybe there was a slim chance in which they managed to flee before it happened.
Hizashi wiped his forehead, some sweat began to build up, “We should get a fan. I don’t think I can handle this heat without something to cool me.”
Shota looked at him, “Where are you going to plug it in? There’s no electricity, idiot.”
“So?” Hizashi grinned, “I’ll think of something.”
Shota rolled his eyes as he also wiped his sweat. He should have put his hair up like Hizashi. He could feel the loose hairs sticking to her skin and it had him feeling uncomfortable as it felt like something was crawling on him. He was very annoyed.
“A fan is not a good idea, but a car is.” Nemuri then added as she approved a vehicle, “Maybe a truck. We can load it up when we get to the store.”
“That’s if there even is anything.” The blonde grumbled, leaning on the car, “Who’s to say someone hasn’t raided it.”
“We’re a couple days in and considering the outbreak caught us by surprise I doubt anyone decided to do their grocery shopping.” The woman said as she opened the door, looking for a set of keys.
Shota then remembered about the car and the grocery store he and F/n found. It was packed, with a couple items missing but not that it mattered. His car also contained a few more supplies that he was sure the small community he lived in would need.
“What?” Hizashi turned to him, “You thought of something?”
“I did.” Shota nodded, “Before you found us, I had a car with supplies and we had stopped by a store that had everything in stock. Assuming the horde is gone, we should stop there next or at least check the place out.”
Nemuri hummed at that, “It's not a bad idea and it has been a couple days so maybe the horde has passed by.”
“I don’t know.” Hizashi looked down the streets, a rotter just a few steps ahead slowly walking away from them, “They're slow and what if something didn’t distract them and made them stay there?”
“That's also a possibility.” Nemuri said as she let out a sigh, getting out of the car. She then looked at the two males, an idea in mind, “Only we go. Now that we’re out here, we might as well check and if the dead has passed then we’ll bring Toshinori. More hands the merrier.”
The blonde let out a long sigh, scratching his arm, “Today is going to be so draining. By the time we get back home it’ll be night.”
“Does it matter?” Shota said as they began to head to their destination. He pushed his worriedness aside, thinking of the good that’ll come after.
She quietly and cautiously trailed behind the lonesome rotter with Hitoshi whipping his head around as the girl was being careless. He honestly wanted to grab the girl and head back to the apartments but she wouldn’t budge and he wouldn’t dare to leave her alone.
“F/n, let’s go back!” He whispered, placing his hand on her back as he almost bumped into her when she stopped to crouch near a car, “We don’t have any experience and what do you even plan to do?!”
“You think anybody has experience?” She briefly turned back to him as she didn’t want to let the rotter leave her sight. Her brows furrowed as she thought back to the time when she almost died,  “Sometimes people have to face their fears. If you’re so scared then go back, I got it covered.”
He scoffed, his hands tightly clutching on the bow. He couldn’t believe that this girl was the daughter of Shota. Where’s her sense of not getting the fuck eaten?
Before she could continue forward, Hitoshi shoved her back as he took the lead, “Fine, stay behind me then. Last thing I need is for you to drop dead.”
She smiled as she followed after him, “You can’t aim though.”
“So we’ll trap him.” He then looked back at her, “But we are not going further than this street. Once it’s heads to a different street, we leave, got it?”
“Okay.” She said with her smile still on her lips, “So what’s the plan?”
Hitoshi’s eyes wandered around him. Nothing but houses and cars nearby. He figured, as he looked at a house that was right next to him, he could get the rotter to head there. Once the dead hear the commotion, he would show himself and lead it to the backyard with F/n going in first so it wouldn’t see her.
What a clever idea. He had to give himself some points for thinking of such a plan. The only problem would be if any other dead decide to join in. Ugh, he wanted to yell at himself for even doing this.
Grabbing the pebble beside his dirty shoes, he quickly threw it to the house window. The window had shattered and the noise alerted the dead as it took a step back and aimed for the home.
“Nice aim.” F/n said, trying to keep up with Hitoshi as he held her arm and placed himself to her side so they could move to the backyard, “You throw?”
“Shut it.” Once they made it to the backyard, he quickly looked around. To the side he found a rope with a few wooden planks. He glanced to the side of the house where he could see the rotter. He then grabbed the rope and began tying one end to the outdoor faucet and the other through a crack of the wooden fence.
He scraped himself and was pretty sure a splinter wedge into his finger. He then looked at F/n before leaving, “Okay, you stay here. Don’t go anywhere.”
He left her his bow as he cautiously walked to the dead. He had to hold himself back as the dead began to walk to him. Its lumpy statue made the male feel at ease as the trap would work wonders.
He paced himself back, making sure his eyes were on it. The narrow, mossy passage almost had him tripping but he successfully made it to the back watching as the dead tripped, a leg bone popping out.
He then glanced around only to not see her. He scowled as he whispered, “Are you kidding me?”
With the dead trying to get back to his feet, Hitoshi quickly grabbed his bow. He kept his breathing steady as he aimed his bow at it, but his attention was then caught by the girl as she opened the back door and quickly ushered him in with a look that he did not like.
Going after her, he left the dead to stumble and closed the door behind him. He then glared at her, “What part of staying do you not get?”
“Sorry about that, but,” She said as she moved to the cabinets of the kitchen, “I figure we could kill two birds with one stone.”
He grabbed a can of food, “So what? We take these?”
“Duh!” She smiled and began to place some on the kitchen table, “It’s not a lot but it’s a start, plus with the other food that my dad is bringing it’ll be extra, so, like, a lot.”
He scoffed at her, “And then what do you is going to happen when they find out we left home? They’re probably looking for us right now and we didn’t even tell Yagi where we were heading!”
He then pointed at her head that had a bandage wrapped out. It stuck out like a sore thumb, “And what if that gets infected? You’re supposed to be keeping it clean!”
“I'll clean it later.” F/n said before heading to the broken window, looking for any rotters, “We hurry up. I’m sure it’s early afternoon, which means my dad won’t be back. We tell Yagi where we went and pray he doesn’t say anything. He’s nice so I’m sure he’ll back us up.”
“You just had that all figured out didn’t you.” Hitoshi said as he placed the can on the table.
She chuckled, “Did you seriously think I would go out here without a plan.”
“I did actually.” He then looked at her as she was driving him crazy. He should have picked better people to hang out with, though if he was being honest and if he placed her reckless behavior aside, he was kind of having fun. Kind of.
She then went back to the kitchen and pulled out a grocery bag. She handed him one, “C’mon, get to packing.”
He did so, but hearing a moan he turned to look out the backyard, “What about the dead that we trapped?”
When he turned to look at the girl, a smile was shown and he did not like that as he felt extremely nervous.
Shota quickly kicked the back of the rotters leg and stabbed it. He then moved closer to the other two as they entered the grocery store, “You weren’t kidding, everything is still here.”
“Good.” Nemuri said as she approached a shopping cart, “All this stuff should get us by.”
Shota looked back outside, the lot was filled with cars, “How ‘bout you guys grab the food and I’ll look for a truck.”
“Just yourself?” The blonde mumbled as he also looked out the door, “There’s not a lot, but won’t you need help?”
“I can manage.” He said, “Besides, better for you both to do all that.”
“Okay, call out if anything happens.” Hizashi hi and Nemura said, going away from the tired male.
Seeing how many products there were, Shota figured they needed a big car, maybe a truck or a van, whichever one he found first with a set of keys.
Seeing a black truck in the distance, he watched his surroundings as he headed for it. He opened the door and looked for the keys. Luckily enough, it was still hanging on the ignition. He turned it on and was glad to see some gas was still in the tank.
He threw the luggage on the floor to make room. One of the briefcases had opened and caused a lot of clutter. He glanced at the clothing, photos and bathroom necessities and he spotted a necklace, his fingers reaching out to grab it,
It was beautiful as the red gemstone would shine from the sun. The color had reminded him of Eri again. Everyday as time went by, all he could do was worry, wondering if she was still even alive, which he hated to think about.
By the time he found her, nothing but white hairs would replace his dark ones. He let out a soft chuckle as he placed the necklace in his pocket and got in the driver's seat. He turned it and drove to the main entrance.
He backed the truck, the vehicle shaking as he went a bit overboard on the sidewalk. He then turned it off and headed inside, looking for the other two. Seeing them just distance away, he grabbed a basket and walked to the pasta that he could see.
He placed them in, time passing by as he slowly moved and before they knew it, the truck was filled with tons of supplies. Water, herbs, seeds, canned food and anything else that wouldn’t go bad. Luckily they found boxes so that the items wouldn’t fall everywhere and Nemuri wanted things neatly.
“How are we going about this?” Hizashi said as he was in the backseat, behind Shota, “We leave the stuff and check or we bring it with us?”
“It’s not too far from here.” Nemuri said as she pointed at a street so Shota could take it, “We won’t go in, we just want to see if the horde has passed.”
“What if we meet someone?” The blonde said, “What then?”
“Assuming we do.” Shota said as he took a right.
“Right, assuming.” Hizashi had to fix the box that almost fell on him, “We don’t have space.”
“Again, we’re only checking.” Nemuri smiled, “And if we do so happen to find someone, we’ll just..throw you in the back.”
He mockingly laughed when he heard the two in front let out a chuckle. For the next 20 minutes or so, they stopped and looked ahead. The male could see the car parked, “That's the car, but the store isn’t here. Its a few miles back.”
“The deads gone, so that's good.” The woman looked around in case she spotted anything, “Might as well get it now right?”
“No.” Shota shook his head as he pointed ahead, a rotter coming out of the street with a couple more behind. He began to reverse the truck and drove off as he did not want them to be stuck with a hundred dead surrounding them, “What we really need are guns.”
Hizashi laughed, “Good luck with that.”
Finally, for what seemed to be hours, they arrived at the apartment. Nemuri had told him to go around to where  the parking lot sat. If they managed to open the gates, they’d back the truck up instead of being out in the open.
They didn’t really expect to bring a lot, so imagine the surprise on the people’s faces when the curtains were pulled down and all they could see was the trunk filled with boxes of goods. The tired male quickly left Nemuri and Hizashi with other people as they figured out a way to re-open the gates as he headed for his daughter.
He searched for and when he didn’t see her in the main area, his heart picked up. He went home, but she was nowhere in sight. His breathing escalated but just as he was about to run around like a crazed man, he heard her voice coming from the washroom. He headed there and felt relieved to see the girl sitting on top of the washer, watching Hitoshi aim at a cardboard box with his bow.
“What are you guys doing?” The sound of her father’s voice had F/n jump from her seat and quickly rushed to him whilst hugging him. He smiled as he patted her hair, “It’s good to see you too.”
“I hope you don’t mind that she’s helping me out, Mr. Aizawa.” Hitoshi said feeling awkward.
“It’s fine and you don’t have to keep calling me Mr.” Shota waved his hand, “Aizawa is just fine.”
“Mr makes him feel old.” F/n said when she pulled away with a smile glancing at Hitoshi who sweatdropped. Her smile grew when Shota glared at her. “F/n.”
“Sorry.”
“Is this all you’ve been doing all day?” His glare softened as he looked at her and once she nodded he let out a sigh, unknowing of her and Hitoshi’s secret. He then heard his name being called, no doubt Hizashi wanting him to unload, “I have to go do something, but I’ll see you later.”
She saluted him, “Aye, aye!”
“F/n.”
“Sorry.”
A feeling washed over Hitoshi as he glanced away to look at his bow, “Are you leaving?”
“Nah.” She said and sat on the washer again. She pointed at the cardboard with a smile, “Hey, look at that. You almost had it. A thousand more tries and you’ll get there!”
“Seriously?”
“Yep!”

“Shit!” Katsuki groaned as he aimed his pistol, firing it to a couple rotters heading his and his two other friends way, “Hurry the fuck up, Shitty hair!”
The said redhead frantically grabbed the duffel bags of supplies from the RV before any of the rotters could get inside. The fragile door could only do so much as Denki had to almost run over dangerous people who shot at them. They had managed to escape, but the RV suffered consequences as the door’s glass had been shattered and a few bullet holes grazed on the engine.
Unfortunately, the firing guns had caused commotion, allowing a dozen rotters who were standing by for their next victim to aim for the trio.
The big vehicle stopped working as smoke was puffing out. They had to quickly retreat as they could hear the moans, but Eijiro was too stubborn to leave their supplies that they had to risk for. It wasn’t much, but the bags contained items that Tomura’s community had asked for.
“Shitty hair!” Eijiro could hear the gunshots firing and his friends yells. He was trying to be quick, shoving all the cans from the cabinets into already heavy bags. His rifle that hung on his back kept getting in the way, annoying him as he had to shrug his shoulders so the gun could move.
Beads of sweat rolled from his head as he zipped up the bag, but upon hearing the door rattle, he quickly ducked so he wouldn’t be spotted. He stayed quiet, hoping that the rotter would disappear, but he didn’t notice the empty glass salt behind him rolling off the table.
He paid attention to the door until he was startled by the glass crashing on the floor. It had caught the ears of the rotters' attention as its rotten, bloody torn of fingers tried to rip the door open. His moans caused the other rotters to join in, ignoring Katsuki.
“Shit! Shit! Shit!” Eijiro quickly looked around as he thought of a plan. He looked to the back where the beds reside, a window above the mattress. He could escape through there, but the rotters were on the other side as he could faintly see their decayed fingertips.
He then looked to the bathroom where an emergency trapdoor was held. He wasted no time in moving, throwing the duffel bags inside and himself. He closed the door and took his rifle off, setting it aside and instead pulled his knife.
He got on the toilet to help as a step and desperately used his knife to take the mesh off and  reached in to pull the lever but it was difficult. He grunted, his hands slipping from the red lever as his hands were sweaty from how close he was to death.
He could hear the rotters pouncing on the door and when he heard a loud crack, he knew the RV’s door had been broken through. He tried to keep quiet, but it was hard due to his boots being big and the toilet seat being flimsy.
“Katsuki!” Denki yelled as he returned from securing a building where they could all stay. Upon seeing no Eijiro and the blonde shooting towards the vehicle, the yellow-haired male assumed the worst as he lifted his rifle and began shooting at the dead hung outside, “Where’s Eijiro?!”
“He’s still inside!” Katsuki took down two dead, “He won’t come out!”
“Seriously!?” The bead of sweat rolled off Denki's forehead. He wasn’t sure how long they would have until other rotters nearby decided to join, making the dozen into a horde. They also couldn’t continue to back up the redhead as they needed to save their ammo for the entire trip.
The said redhead desperately clung onto the lever. He realized he had to push onto the trapdoor in order to open and he did so, cringing at the bangs that were being let out. The rotters had definitely heard and he tried his best to ignore them as they trampled onto each other. He instead focused on controlling his panic.
He was lucky that door was made out of wood instead of plastic as he would have been long dead by now. He was also lucky that after four pushes he was able to open the emergency exit and quickly grabbed the bags and threw them on the roof.
He threw his rifle next and then pulled himself up with his knife in hand just in time as the door had been broken through. A rotting hand was just inches away from grabbing his shoe.
He didn’t have time to feel relief as he looked around for Katsuki and Denki and upon seeing them he quickly grabbed everything and looked down to the dead who stared at him.
“I got a plan!” Denki said and quickly left, leaving Katsuki to wonder where he was going. He knew he wouldn’t just run off and leave them to die so he hoped that whatever he had in mind was good as he got on top of a truck as a few rotters were heading his way.
“You idiot.” Katsuki mumbled as he replaced his pistol with his rifle. He didn’t want to use it, but he had to, as his friend's life was at stake, “Just drop the damn bags!”
The blonde's attention was then brought to the two-story building next to him. Gunshots were firing from the roof and Katsuki had to give credit to Denki for thinking of such a plan, “Nice work, Dunceface.”
He then waved his hand for Eijiro to look at him, “We’ll cover you! Stay off the ground!”
Eijiro let out a scoff, “How the hell am I supposed to do that!?”
The gunshots and moans had deafen his comment, so the red head looked around, a  lightbulb went off on his head as he saw vehicles around him. He clutched the bag's strap and made sure that his rifle was secured on him. He looked down to the truck beside him and then to the rotters, “Don’t die, Eijiro. You didn’t come this far to die here.”
With a prayer he jumped off the RV and landed on the truck, his foot slipped but he was able to catch himself as he let out a sigh of relief.
The blonde let out a smirk as he watched his friend jump from car to car. It was almost like he was watching an action movie and he had to regain his attention on the rotters, his rifle sniping through almost everyone, clearing a path for Eijiro.
Denki was doing the same, but he had a harder time seeing as it was dark, most likely past midnight. As long as they all made it back safely, he didn’t care if he had to waste his sleep.
When Eijiro was close, Katsuki shot those nearby before getting off the truck where the redhead soon followed and they both ran to the building where Denki was placed. The male on the roof covered them and though his aim wasn’t best he managed to get his friends to safety.
Seeing Eijiro and Katsuki get in the building, Denki ran to them and felt relieved to see they were okay, “I for sure thought we were dead. That was intense, guys.”
Katsuki let out a couple pants before his eyes narrowed as he looked at Eijiro, “What the hell were you thinking!? You could have died!”
Eijiro scoffed at him, trying to regain his breath, “Me? I did what I had to do! I wasn’t going to leave all this stuff we found!”
“There's barely shit in there!” Katsuki said, “We could haver retuned early morning to get it, but you decide to risk your fucking life for a few fucking cans!”
Eijiro dropped his stuff and got closer to the male, his eyes narrowing, “This shit is stopping people from dying! I thought you would understand after who we lost! After everything we lost! You wanna be the reason for more people's death!? Do you!? You're the one who's going to get us all killed, get F/n killed!”
He knew he shouldn’t have let the comment bother him, but he did as Katsuki swung his arm and let it connect to his long time friend's cheek. He didn’t hesitate to throw in a couple more punches as Eijiro regained himself and pounced at the blonde, both falling to the ground where they brawled.
“Stop!” Denki tried to get the redhead off Katsuki, “Cut it out! This isn't the time!”
His movement made little effort to break the fight as he was almost tripped when Katsuki was able to get Eijiro off of him then proceeded to sit on his stomach, throwing in more jabs. Their struggles were loud enough for the dead outside to hear as they gathered around the board up windows and doors.
“Get off of him, dude!” Denki grabbed the blonde's hand though unfortunately Katsuki had managed to sock him in the nose. The male let out a hiss as he clutched his aching nose, his own anger growing as he narrowed his eyes and quickly grabbed his rifle.
With the end of the gun, he smacked it across Katsuki’s head, “Knock it off!”
The action had caused Katsuki to stumble off the redhead and let out a groan as he held onto his head, “..What the fuck!?”
The door breaking caught all of their attention. Seeing rotters coming in had them all gather their stuff and enter the second floor where Denki closed the door, grabbing a dusty furniture to secure it.
He then looked at the other two. Their faces were red and they were bleeding. It had Denki scoffing and shaking his head, “What the hell is wrong with you guys? Seriously. I thought the dead were worse, but you guys? You guys are something else.”
Eijiro wiped his nose with his jacket sleeve. He sniffled as he could feel the blood trailing down. From the corner of his vision, he saw Katsuki offering him water. He wasn’t petty, so he took the water and chugged it, his throat feeling refreshed from the cooling sensation.
“Sleep it off.” Denki said as he walked towards a window and sat down, “I’m going to sleep and I better not wake up to you two fighting.”
Katsuki then moved to the otherside, letting his back rest against the wall. He bent his knees and let out a sigh, acknowledging as the other male sat next to him, “I was in the heat of the moment.”
Eijiro shook his head, looking out the window that sat above Denki, “I had no right to say what I said. I was mad that you—out of all people—would go off on me for trying to get the supplies that he had asked for. I assumed you just didn’t care, that you finally gave up, and that made me angry.”
He scoffed, putting  his arms on his knees, “Give up? Yeah, right. I didn’t come all this way to give up and let some fucking lunatic win. I just…”
He hesitated to speak his mind as he didn’t want to perceive himself as weak, so he tried to word it in a way that sounded like himself, “Its fucking exhausting to see people die. See the ones you grew up with leave. See everyone cry because they’ve lost someone they loved. All everyone wants is to be happy…but how can you even do that with how shitty things have been.
“Everyones got someone they care about, so quit trying to get yourself killed otherwise the people back home will have to dig out another grave specifically made for you.” Katsuki hoped Eijiro understood where he was getting at. That he cared about him as he is his best friend and he didn’t need him to go dying on him. He was his partner in crime, first above Denki.
Eijiro let out a soft laugh, his eyes never leaving the bright star that was in his view, “From now on, I promise I won’t do anything reckless, but you have to promise that you won't either.”
“In your damn dreams.” Katsuki playfully scoffed, but he mentally nodded, respecting his friend's wishes. He then looked at a sleeping Denki, “We should get him on board too. Knowing him, he’d probably die without us.”
Eijrio laughed, “C’mon dude don't be mean.”

She wanted to die or at least inflict pain on others. Being raised by a father who considered feelings were weak caused her to not know how to even deal with her emotions. That's part of the reason why Hitoshi had to set boundaries, even going as far as to break the friendship if she continued, though she didn’t blame him as she understood his reasoning.
She knew she could not continue staring at Hanta’s room wall, dreaming of things she couldn’t have, treasuring their final days, their last memories until the day came where she forgets his face.
She had to get up, put the past behind her and realize that other people are suffering, far worse than she probably is.
That’s why she’s outside Sorston, a pistol with a silencer in her hand as she was in a neighborhood just a little away from the community. She desperately wanted to go back to the area where Hanta’s body was rotting, but she knew she’d break down when she saw that the rotters left nothing of him but dried blood on the dirt.
Her rage only grew at the thought and she decided to take it out on the rotter who was stuck underneath a car. She used the red vehicle to hold her while she stomped on the rotter's skull, each stomp getting harsher and its blood gushing everywhere. She sneered at how disgusting the sight was, but that didn’t stop her.
A rotter a few steps behind her caught her attention as she quickly aimed her silenced pistol, the bullet quickly penetrating  between its eyes. She glared as it fell while her bloody shoe smeared the clumps of blood onto the pavement.
A bit of sweat was beginning to build up as she looked up to the cloudy sky. She wasn’t sure how long she had been out here as time seemed to go by fast and she didn’t have a watch. She had forgotten that Izuku would be coming home sometime today and Katsuki would arrive tomorrow. When they did, the funeral for Shota, Toshinori and Hanta would commence and she dreaded it.
Who was she even saying goodbye to? An empty grave?
She let out a scoff, storming off to a burned house nearby. She could hear the wood groan underneath her feet as she stepped on the porch. The door as well as the side wall had been torn off. She waved her hand to let the dust particles from catching on her nose when she entered.
Apart from the walls, floors, and furniture being covered in ash, the building seemed like it was once a beautiful home. She ignored the burned dead that quietly let out a hoarse moan, being trapped underneath furniture as she made her way to the back where it was only slightly burned.
Entering a room with a bed, TV, drawer, closet and a bathroom, she rummaged through anything that could hide valuable stuff. She threw some clothes away as she checked the walk-in closet and checked the drawers inside.
She moved to the bathroom, opening the sinks cabinet luckily finding painkillers. She figured they must be decent since the bottle was hidden behind the mirror despite being opened. She placed it in her bag, deciding to bring it to Yawara so he could determine whether it was in good condition.
She then grabbed the remaining pills and zipped her bag up. She sniffled as she placed the bag on her back, “..I’m tired.”
She exited through the side wall that had been broken and walked further down the street. With the thanks of the map in her pocket, she remembered when Shota had reminded her of Tomura’s own community.
Of course she wouldn’t dare to enter it, though curiosity peaked her mind as she wanted to scope the place and maybe find the opening that the older male had mentioned. Maybe then she would storm the place some other time, only by herself and possibly rescue Shoto.
Speaking of him, she seriously hoped he was alive and well.
The walkie-talkie on her hip turned on, a static was heard first before she could faintly hear Izuku’s voice, “F/n? Are you there?”
She had forgotten Momo had given it to her before her departure. She wanted to ignore it, but she could hear the male's voice being frantic and she did not want to worry him any further, “Yeah, I’m here.”
She scratched her cheek and sniffled, waiting by a trash filled dumpster for him to speak. “Where are you? You need to come back.”
“I can’t do that right now.” She scratched her eyebrow, “I’m busy.”
It was quiet for a moment and she thought he had given up, but as she put the radio back on her hip the static once returned. “..Please don’t tell me you're leaving.”
Her eye twitched and she wondered where he even got that idea. She took a deep breath, “...What are you on about?”
It was quiet for a short moment, until a cut off sigh was heard, his tone being laced in worried, “...I feel like you’re trying to leave me. I haven’t been here for a day so I don’t know what  you're thinking about  and when I try to talk to you only shut me out. I can’t help but worry about you when you haven’t been acting like yourself lately.
“Seeing you in such a state that I’ve never seen is frightening. We’ve all lost someone important, and…losing you is something I don’t need. Not now, not tomorrow, not any day. So please, just come home.”
With his last comment, she swallowed a gulp and lifted the radio to her lips. She hesitated, a bead of sweat rolling off her as she finally spoke, “...Okay, I’m coming.”
“Thank you, F/n.” She nodded even though he couldn’t see her. His voice filled her heart with sorrow. Maybe she should think before speaking so she doesn’t have to hear his worries for her. She should also be less hostile considering he did lose both of his teachers and had to witness such a gruesome sight.
She took a glance at the dumpster beside her. Nothing but crumpled up papers, empty water bottle, ripped up products and lastly a final touch of ash covering parts of it. The street she stood on seemed to be burned down. Someone either messed up on trying to get rid of the rotters that lingered or possibly a maniac thought it’d be a good idea to let their inner arsonists out.
She rolled her shoulders as they ached and continued down the street where she would soon see the walls of Sorston. From where she stood she could faintly see the rusty walls, but only barely as the trees helped to cover it up.
Despite seeing a few rotters slowly coming at her, she glanced at them while continuing her way with her pistol at her side. She thought back to when Izuku had mentioned that the dead seemed to be slow and docile when they haven’t eaten in days.
To her that meant a good sign as no human was near, meaning there was no threat. But a part of her was itching to let her anger out on someone who could fight back. A thrill of adrenaline coursing through her.
Seeing a man on the watchtower, he signaled those below where they opened the gate to where only she could fit. She closed it behind her, giving them a nod to acknowledge them and soon pursued her way to her shared home where Izuku would be.
She had been out since morning, idling around the neighborhood so she wasn't extremely dirty, as only her shoes and the end of her jeans were splattered in blood and covered in grime.
She stepped up on the porch, ignoring the floorboards creaking and let out a low sigh before she entered the home. It would have been quiet if it weren’t for Izuku mumbling as his pencil grazed the notebook on his lap.
A small smile appeared on her lips. Before she made her way to him she dropped her bag and took her jacket as well as shoes off. He still hadn’t noticed she was there, even when she sat down next to him as he appeared to be fixated on writing.
It reminded her of when they traveled together. If she wasn’t talking to him, he would be stuck in his notebook and she didn’t blame him as she was a boring person. She hasn’t seen him like this for so long considering their minds had been too busy staying alive.
She looked around the living room, a feeling of content yet shy embracing her, “I’m home, Izuku.”
His pencil stopped moving as he looked her way and without haste, he dropped everything to hug her, ignoring the way she jolted when he snaked his arms around her neck and let out a sigh of relief.
She could feel him slightly shaking so she wrapped her arms around his waist and let him ball his eyes out while she comfortably patted his back. Her brows twitched and her eyes wanted to squint but she had to maintain her composure. She’s supposed to be strong, ain't she?
“It’s okay to cry.” He softly said as he sniffled and that made her jaw clenched as she let her head fall on his shoulders, her own grip tightening around him as she tightly closed her eyes all the while he dug his face in her neck.
Everything felt so right.
He wanted to hold her forever, so when he felt her shift he hugged her tightly as to not let her leave, his beautiful forest eyes staring at the view in front. His brows furrowed as the collected tears from his lids dripped, staining the girls cloth shoulders.
He sniffled as he felt the girl's grip tighten on him and he swore he could feel her heart beating at an unbelievable pace. His neck had shivered as he felt her move her lips and he would have been in a blushy state, but he was caught off guard as his pupils dilated to her soft voice.
“..I love you.”
He blinked, then blinked again and again, wondering if he heard her wrong until he pulled away, his large eyes staring at hers, “..What did you say?”
“I-” Suddenly she felt timid, her eyes looking at him.
Why the hell did she even say that? She didn’t actually love him, right? Her heart running, having her eyes on him, and feeling like she was always on air when he was around meant nothing. She just liked having him around her because he brought out the good in people.
“F/n..?” He noticed her tense figure and carefully held her hands. As much as he wanted to jump in joy, he needed her to say it again so he knows where he stands, where they both stand. It’s not everyday where he actually gets the girl he wants and not to mention them making the first move.
She let out an awkward airy chuckle as her brows furrowed. It’s not like they haven’t spent months together, both growing closer to each other. She’d admit that she did like it when her stomach would do flips when he was around, though she blamed it that she only liked him as a friend.
She wanted to say that she only said it in the heat of the moment and she didn’t know how else to help him. Letting it out did feel good, but considering he was the first person she ever liked—romantic wise—made her feel insufferable.
Maybe she only said it because Hanta’s no longer with her and she’s using Izuku as a placeholder.
He squeezed her hand again and tilted his head to grab her attention, “Please, say something.”
Well it was now or never, right?
“I-I,” She cursed herself for stuttering. She closed her eyes for a brief moment, wondering what her father would say to her mother, but she remembered just how terrible his love was. She had to be better and she had to take the lead.
She took in a deep breath, grasping his hand in hers. Her brows narrowed as she made eye contact, ignoring the fact her heart was going at an incredible speed, “Since I first met you, I didn’t think I would harbor these feelings that I have when I’m with you and let myself drown in it. I want to cherish it forever, hold it in my heart and let it fill me up until I can’t breathe and I can only think about you. To have myself lost in your gaze is something I want to do everyday, it makes me want to spend the rest of my life with you. Only you and me.
“You are an addiction that I want everyday.” She leaned in closer, her right thumb reaching to wipe Izuku’s glossy eye, “I have never felt like this for anyone. So if you could, please let me have your heart.”
He leaned into her hand, his lips opening to let out his soft voice, “You already do.”
With that, she closed the gap, letting her lips fall on his. She soon closed her eyes and had both of her hands holding the sides of his face as his eyes widened but then closed, following her movements. He held her wrists, wanting her to slow down the rush kiss and she obliged.
She half opened her eyes to see Izuku’s reddened face. He looked at peace even with his eyes tightly closed. She felt happy, incredibly happy. Despite all she's lost, she still had Izuku.
Izuku; the one who it will always be.

They had a long road ahead of them and Katsuki only felt agitated as the minutes passed by with Denki’s slow driving. He knew the male was only being cautious, but he seriously just wanted to reach the warehouse and return to F/n and have her in his arms.
He couldn’t tear his eyes away when he saw the girl sob her eyes out, her eyes never leaving what was left of Hanta. He almost felt like he could cry as he saw his friend, his teachers die and the way Toga pounced on her, making her watch every second as Tomura batted his friend's head, angered him.
It angered him so much that all he could see was red but when he heard the girl let out a whimper, his eyes drastically moved to her form. He felt sick, hurt, like he wanted to just hug her and he wasn’t one for touch, but seeing the aftermath of her staring at the mud, hands clenching the dirt with a look he’s never seen, was just devastating.
And although he has yet to confess what he feels for her, just like Izuku, he wants her to know that he sees her. That he knows she’s there and that he wants her to notice him just like she does with his rival and Shoto. He can’t deny the girl is pretty and has every feature that he would want in someone.
Everyday when he woke up, his mind had thought back to the girl. Even when he spent the first month with her, he always seemed to look at her. He didn’t know it at first, only presuming that the girl irked him for being good at everything, but he’s been…slowly developing feelings.
He still remembers that feeling he had when nails stabbed her back, and of course he was concerned as he thought she was bit, but after they removed the nails, he felt his heart fill with relief.
He found it strange at first, then bothersome and now that he’s here realizing and practically declaring war with his childhood friend, he almost feels giddy. Like he can’t believe he actually has a romantic side and it was just waiting to be poured out and drown F/n in it.
He scoffed at himself, sitting in the small kitchen watching the trees go by. He almost sounded like Izuku, hell he even felt like him for just thinking about something sappy for the girl.
But, the question that really got to him, was what if she rejects him? With all they’ve been through, how many dangers they faced and not to mention the countless times she saved him, would it all disappear the moment he confessed?
He’s matured over the years and wasn’t the same angry kid who lashed out at everything. No, he was someone who could, in a way, control his anger including his feelings. So if she rejected him, then that’s on her. At least he put it out there and the feelings would disappear just as she's disappearing from his life.
But, that brought up another question. What if she were to accept Izuku or god forbid Shoto. He knows Izuku can be romantic as he saw with Ochaco back at school, but Shoto? The dude was braindead when it came to feelings or jokes or anything that he wouldn’t understand, therefore needing someone to interpret it.
He added an airy chuckle at the thought. His piercing red eyes staring at the few dead bodies that they pass by.
Though, the blonde did have to give Shoto some credit as he also matured. Yet still, if Katsuki had to compete for F/n then it would be with Izuku. With how dense Shoto is, there is no way she would return his feelings and if he did manage to spill out his hearts, he would most of definitely fucked it up.
Oh, if only he knew.
“I say we stop here, check out that small gas station.” Eijiro said looking to the right where the building resided, “There has to be something, even if it's small.”
Denki slowly pulled in next to the building, careful to not hit any of the vehicles in the way, “The place looks ransacked. The windows, doors and even the side of the wall is broken.”
“It doesn’t hurt to try.” The red-head narrowed his eyes and got out of the RV with Denki. Ever since the tragic incident, he’s been on edge especially with the amount of pressure Tomura’s group had added. Every scavenging team has felt stress and who knows just how long they can take it.
Katsuki shortly got out of the RV, his gun hitting his side with every step he took. He looked around in case a dead was near, but for the most part it was quiet. He then turned to the building where Denki and Eijiro peeked through the busted windows.
He too looked inside, shining his flashlight only to see a rotter get up from its sitting position. The blonde sniffled from the cold air and let the rotter get close to him where he then pulled his knife and stuck it into its head.
His blade and the window were covered in blood, though thankfully, he wasn’t, “Let’s get this shit over with.”
The other two nodded in determination and with Denki holding the door open, they all got inside where he then took watch. It was a small gas station, so they weren’t expecting a lot of dead to be roaming or any products around.
His foot stepped on the rotter's head, the skin, blood and maggots sticking to the bottom of Katsuki’s boot. He sneered before wiping it on the tile floor, the squeak emitting the room, “This place smells like shit.”
Eijiro let out a huff when he jumped over the register, his eyes looking underneath the counter where a shelf of storages displayed, “Watch for that corner, there's a breach.”
Katsuki shined his light to where the other male pointed. It appeared like someone had crashed into it before driving away as he could slightly see the track marks. He then proceeded to look around the floor, noticing for any marks that a human had been here, but it was difficult to tell as the marks were sloppily placed.
He muttered underneath his breath, the fog escaping his mouth, “Maybe she would know.”
“Who would know?” Denki had accidentally startled the blonde as he whipped around ready to plunge his knife into him until Denki let out a silent shriek, “Woah! It's me, chill out!”
“The hell do you think you’re doing, idiot!?” He placed his blade down to his side, glaring at the one in front, “You’re supposed to keep watch, so get to it.”
The other male scoffed, ignoring Katsuki’s glare, “Look, I would have, alright? But I feel useless just doing that. I want to  be productive and I’m tired of being watched when we do runs. How about for a change, you or Eijiro do it.”
To say Katsuki was shocked was an understatement. However, as he looked at a tired and what he could see a hint of a depressed Denki, he let out a sigh and gave him his knife, “Watch out for any creepy crawlers and don’t get your ass bit, otherwise I will kill you.”
Despite feeling down, Denki smiled, “Aye, aye, captain.”
Katsuki only rolled his eyes, heading to the front where he could see the RV, useless cars, trees, and litter flying from the wind.
“You guys want cigarettes?” Eijiro chuckled as he held a pack, placing it on the counter before bending down and grabbing more, “There a lot if you each want your own.”
“Don’t be stupid.” Katsuki said, his eyes looking outside, “Take it. We can use it to start a fire or something.”
Denki teasingly looked at Katsuki, “Is that really what you're going to use it for?”
Katsuki whipped his head back around, “Don’t make me regret putting you there!”
“Jeez, alright!” He picked up a box of empty crackers and then aimlessly threw it behind him. He hesitated to speak for a moment since it was a touchy subject but he had to say something, “..So…what are we going to do about Shoto?”
Eijiro stopped his movements, slowly glancing his way. Although he could only see his back, he knew he was worried from the tone. He breathed in, “Whatever Nezu has planned, he'll let us know. We can’t do anything unless… We have to wait for him.”
Katsuki wanted to let out a scoff. Wait for Nezu? Shoto was most likely dead or  better yet held in captivity slowly dying from a torturous death. He was sick and tired of waiting, what good did that ever do to them anyway, “I say we blow the damn place until they're all dead.”
The other two looked his way before looking down. They had to agree with him. Tomura’s group was the reason their friends and many people died. They weren’t strong yesterday, but if they kept practicing then they would totally beat them.
Practicing? More like practicing for death.
Denki also had another thing to say, his eyes casting down to his hands, “..I know…their bodies aren’t there…but they’re holding a funeral.”
Katsuki’s hands twitched, his eyes still looking outside. The funeral he mentioned was to be planned the day they returned which wouldn’t be until three days, give or take. Three days until they returned and he couldn’t help but to think back to F/n who sat in Hanta’s room, going crazy from having to wait to say her goodbyes.

It was still pouring the following day. Mostly everyone was in their homes. Denki and Eijiro had left a while back as F/n heard them. They knocked on Hanta’s room where she was at, informing her of their leave. She didn’t say anything and they took her silence as a response.
She sat on the floor, her back resting against her cousin's bed. Her hooded eyes stared at the window where she could see the gloomy sky and the rain gliding across the glass.
Her hands played with an empty revolver. The gun clinked as she played with the gun, the cylinder popping out as she spinned it and spinned it.
The sound emitted from his room. It sort of kept her from hearing her thoughts, the sound of the revolver comforted her mind. But the gun could only do so little as everything in his room reminded her of him.
They both should’ve left the community the day she found him and she blames herself for giving up so easily. She should have persisted until he agreed to it, until he and her left with the gates shutting behind them.
Oh, how she could still remember his face when she realized she messed up. She remembered his look. The way his eyes were glossy and bulging, staring at her, his lips trembling as fog came out every breath he took. A final shared look before he died.
Guilt rang through her entire body as she knew that she was the cause of his death. She pulled the trigger, she was the one to miss and she never missed. So for her to slip up when she could have possibly put an end to everything, crushed her.
And she was so busy in her own pity that she hadn’t even noticed Shoto had been dragged away. She couldn’t see him even if she wanted to as her surroundings were a blur, like everything was moving at a rapid pace and she could only try to catch up.
She only knew about Shoto when Izuku and Katsuki told her. If she had to guess, he too was probably dead, though she did remember him telling her about a brother, so she hoped that he was okay. However, she was tired of hoping.
She let her head rest against her knees, her arms falling to the side as tears once again began to fall. She was tired as her eyes adorned eye bags. She hasn’t eaten at all and she knew the other two males that she lived with were worried about her. But she supposed that they should be worried about themselves as they had just lost more people they cared about.
Nobody could even bring their bodies as the rotters emerged from the trees and headed towards their dead peers. Even if they wanted to bury them, they had to bring a car so that they could transport their bodies to Sorston, but that never happened thanks to the dead and rain.
She used her knees to wipe her eyes, sniffling as she raised the revolver to her head. She knew it wasn’t loaded as she pressed on the trigger, the revolver clicking until all the rounds went. She then let out a sigh as she let her hand fall, thumping on the floor with her gun clattering.
Their friend's death wasn’t going to stop Katsuki, Denki and Eijiro from scavenging. They took the RV and decided to spend a few nights outside of Sorston, bringing back what they could find for Tomura since he was expecting more.
They were planning on heading back to the warehouse where they found plenty of supplies, but for now they needed to check the neighborhood stores in the area. Izuku, Ochaco, Mezo and Fumikage were right behind them but they weren’t going the same direction. Their group planned to stay near Sorston while Katsuki’s group ventured further out.
The blonde was feeling rather tired as he stared outside the RV’s windows. He had his arm resting on the windowsill as he sat in the very small kitchen area, watching as the rain slowly rolled down the glass.
Eijiro and Denki were inside a store, checking the place out while Katsuki took watch. As much as he was supposed to have his mind cleared and call out for when he saw anything strange, he couldn’t help but let his mind wander to yesterday night.
After the tragedy, he had stayed in his room, only coming out to spend the night at Denki’s and Eijiro's home so they could take off early in the morning. He thought everyone was asleep as he couldn’t hear Izuku or F/n, but when he closed his door, passed by both including Shoto’s vacant room, he noticed her door had been left open.
She had been just sitting there, staring at the wall in front of her in the dark. He softly called out to her, but she only gave him a brief glance, her blankless stare had him worried. She didn’t have her usual glare, so to see her in a state like this had him thinking that he should stay behind with her.
But he also figured that if he wanted to keep her safe and the community then he had to leave. So he softened his glare, closed the door and left without uttering another word, being hopeful that when he returned she would revert back to her old self.
Even Izuku knew something was wrong with her. It hurt him when she only shutted him out, leaving him in the dust any time he tried to talk to her. He lost a friend, they all did, so why can’t they just grieve together? Get through this rough pass so no one has to deal with it alone.
He kept it to himself, his mentor died right in front of his eyes and all he could do was watch as Toshinori’s brain spilled everywhere. He spent the time showering crying to himself, as the loud shower helped muffle his cries. He didn’t even get the chance to catch up as they were all so busy preparing for this stupid fight that caused three deaths. And Shota, his teacher for three years. He could only imagine the pain his daughters were feeling.
It reminded him of when he had to put down his mother after finding her wandering around. The heartbreak feeling would stay until someone would come to help him, the one he hoped was F/n.
He wondered what Katsuki would do in this situation, Shoto as well. He understood that she was the type to be left alone, so if that's what she wanted then Izuku was going to oblige. But his stress can only handle so much.
With her left alone back in Sorston, the freckle male was concerned of what she would do. He wouldn’t be returning home until tomorrow, so maybe he can find something to cheer her up. He knows she's interested in weapons, but maybe for now he’ll steer clear of anything dangerous and maybe give her something she really needed.
But what did she need? That was the real question as his eyes wandered around the drug store. Everything had been clattered around so finding something nice seemed impossible.
“All these bottles are empty.” Ochaco said as she was behind the pharmacy counter, her hand holding a bottle of pills. She threw it to her side before picking up another, only a few pills still remained though she doubted it was any good, “You found anything, Mezo?”
He shook his head, moving a few empty items off the shelf, “Nothing. Someone got here before us.”
“Not even bandages?” She said, her brows narrowing, “There’s gotta be something around here.”
Mezo picked up an opened box, showing it her way, “A couple in here.”
“That’s not enough.” She lightly scoffed, looking at the inside of her bag, “Nothing put tweezers and a few bandages. Hopefully the guys are having better luck than us.”
“They said they were going back to that building where a lot of supplies were still held.” Fumikage said, standing by the door to keep an eye out, “With how many they brought last time, they shouldn’t return empty handed.”
“That is if no one has come across it.” Mezo pointed out, grabbing his bag and placing it on his shoulders, “We should have gone with them.”
Izuku ignored them, walking through the cluttering isle in hopes something catches his eyes. He was of course sure to make sure no dead were sneaking around. He bent down, grabbing a broken mirror, some shards fell next to his shoes, breaking into even smaller bits.
He would have been concerned as the myth of breaking a mirror was bad luck, but considering how terrible it was these days, he held no such concern and placed the mirror on the shelf as it wasn’t worthy to be a gift for F/n.
“Are you looking for something?” Ochaco asked when she had watched him look for something that was not for medical purposes.
He nodded, hesitating to even speak his mind about a girl with the girl he used to have feelings for. It didn’t go unnoticed by the short girl as she gave him a reassuring smile, her brows creasing as she looked away suddenly feeling shy, “What is that you’re looking for?”
He spoke vaguely, also glancing to the side, “...Something to cheer up someone.”
“Is it F/n?” She quickly responded, noticing the flinch he had made. With Mezo and Fumikage searching for useful supplies, she stayed to talk to the male as she felt like she hadn't been able to converse with him properly since he’s arrived.
She understood if he was still shaken by what happened yesterday, heck she was shaken and they have been friends for over three years, so maybe she should try to reconcile those parts and push her true feelings deep down so she wouldn’t feel hurt when the day came, “..I’m not exactly sure what she likes since I haven’t really talked to her, but usually flowers seemed to cheer someone up. …At least it does for me.”
She continued, placing a hand on her nape, “I would have said chocolates or a teddy bear,” she scoffingly laughed, “but even those seemed to be hard to get these days.”
He was glad that she was helping him out and not making things awkward, like he intended. It had seemed like he had forgotten just how the girl matured over the years. She used to be just like him, shy and a blushing mess, but now, the more he really observed her and how she strongly put herself, he was glad to know that even with this sick world, Ochaco wasn’t frail.
He smiled at her, mentally thanking her for not bringing up any past romance, though maybe he should say something in case she felt like he was leading on her. He would tell her later when they were back in their community and instead continued to give her a smile, “Flowers are hard to get these days as well. I’m surprised the garden committee hasn’t placed one.”
She let out a chuckle, looking over the other two boys for safety precaution, “Well, they did actually have a vote on that, but the cherries surpassed that.”
“Dang, those cherries.” Izuku said, smiling as Ochaco let out a laugh. It felt so good to finally be with her, to see her smile and her eyes light up. Even with no longer harboring his affections for her, seeing her smile was something he honestly looked for and something that made him feel comforted. She was his friend before their feelings blossomed into something more, so of course Izuku would keep those feelings of friendship.
He looked away, letting out a mental sigh wishing that it was F/n who laughed and smiled at him, but now with what's happened, seeing that part of her would be an extremely rare sight.
“Oh!” Ochaco then perked up, reaching into her bag, “I did manage to find something, though I’m not sure if it’s to your or her liking. Hope you like it.”
He looked down to her hand as she extended it. He picked it up, his eyes widening as he heard Ochaco leave, ordering for the others to get back in their cars as they would search for another area.
He let out an airy laugh, his eyes examining the ring that he raised to his eye level. Funny, was all he could think as the diopside ring sat in between his fingers. Funny how the ring he had lost way back, the one F/n had given him somehow followed him all the way here.
Sure, it might just be a coincidence, but it is still funny that the same exact ring, the dirty green gemstone, was looking back at him, in his grasp. He scoffingly let out a laugh, how funny.

With every breath that left their mouths, a fog came out. It was cold and the mist around them dampened their hair and clothing. The trees, bushes, and dirt were also wet, the droplets crashed onto the floor. It would have been a nice sight as they passed through the forest. They would probably have taken a stroll if they were in different circumstances.
Most of their feet ached and they had to hold in a groan when they had a few miles left. They just wanted all this to be over. For Sorston to be free and for the people to no longer die. They knew they were putting their lives on the line, but all that mattered was that they died knowing they were helping the community.
A few hours ago, while Shota and Toshinori helped Shoto, Izuku, Katsuki, F/n, Denki, Eijiro, Ochaco and Hanta, Gunhead and Yuwara helped those who were staying back to defend the community incase Tomura’s group came unannounced.
Shota would have had another day to prepare, but he couldn't afford to waste any ammos and he was unsure whether Tomura’s group would come by unannounced. He would much rather catch them off guard than be caught off guard.
“We’re going on foot. Their camp isn’t too far from here, so we’ll have no trouble.” Shota said, eyeing his group. Even with an eye missing, he was still a great shot, “Any dead come by use your knives, not your guns. We want to save the bullets.”
He could tell that his group was nervous, even F/n as he could see her fingers tremble, and maybe a part of it was due to the cold.
“How did you manage to find their haven?” Eijiro asked the older male.
“We tapped into their radios.” Shota responded, “While we were out, we were able to pass by their community and look around. It’s a small area with big buildings, so finding a way in with little guard watching was easy. It's their blind spot, so their people shouldn't be able to see us coming.”
“How long have you been planning this?” Ochaco question since he had mentioned he began spotting when he was out.
“From the beginning.” Shota thought back to when he first came here and where he met Tomura’s group, “Their place is surrounded by a forest, so we'll have to pass by that first.
With how the clouds were blocking the sun and how it looked like it wanted to rain, Denki wondered if they would need flashlights, “Will we arrive by dark?”
“No.” Shota said, giving the sky a brief glance, “We should be there before it gets dark.”
Toshinori had come back from getting their duffel bags, Gunhead followed behind as he would be joining them to, “Once the gate closes they’ll begin forming.”
“And the people?” Shota asked, as he eyed the empty streets besides those who were standing by.
“There okay.” Gunhead responded.
“Nezu?” Shota asked as he adjusted the map in his hands.
Tohsinori nodded, “He’s also okay.”
“Good.” Shota then let out a sigh from his nose, looking back at his group, “We’ll be separating once we get in the woods, once we enter the weak spot, we’ll signal the rest to come by. I want F/n, Katsuki, Hanta, Denki, and Ochaco with me.”
Shota would have taken the council team, replacing the group he’s with, with them, but he needed them to stay behind in case Tomura had an extra group go to Sorston. Though even with all he did to teach them to shoot, he wasn’t sure if they had the guts to murder someone. Maybe Eijiro and Denki, but Ochaco and Izuku he wasn’t too sure.
As of now, their shoes hit the cold pavement. They would be walking on the road until they were almost there, then entering the forest. So as long as Tomura didn’t know what was going on, Shota and his group had the upper hand.
A squirrel running by, causing a ruckus had startled Shota’s group, though thankfully none decided to draw their gun and instead let the critter pass by while they continued.
Ochaco looked up at the cloudy sky. With the help of the trees covering the sky, the forest appeared to be gloomy, giving it a dark aura, “We’re lucky for the forest being dark, otherwise we would have been spotted.”
Hanta hummed as he looked around, he couldn’t see that far due to the mist and of course the darkness, “I’m actually surprised we even made it this far. I thought a dead or an animal would give us away.”
Denki chimed in, his brows furrowed, “It is strange that we haven’t seen one.”
“It's a good thing.” Katsuki had said as he looked forward, his right hand occasionally jolting for his weapon, “It means we’re being quiet.”
The yellow-haired male shivered, “I don’t know, it kind of feels off. Don’t they smell blood?”
“There not vampires, moron.” The blonde rolled his eyes, though they soon landed on F/n as she pretty much kept quiet the entire way.
That changed as Hanta made her way towards her, “How are you feeling? You’re not nervous, right?”
She eyed him, “You did not just ask me that.”
Forgetting their situation, Hanta smiled at her, “I know, I know. I just want to know where you’re at, since…you were kind of born for this.”
She let a sigh come from her nose and shrugged, “I’m ready. Besides, I have an extra gun near my ankle.”
He rolled his eyes at that as he figured she would’ve pulled something heinous. But he shoved that aside as he once again smiled at her, his nervousness soon faded away as she stood by him. Even after saying he didn’t need her protection, he was glad she was with him as his only family member being by his side was all he needed in order to feel safe.
He couldn’t let his smile leave as he was truly happy, with just being with her.
In the front, Shota had listened to his students conversation. Oddly enough, he found it peaceful to hear their quiet chatter. He would have told them to be quiet, but he wasn’t sure if that would be the last time they would ever talk to each other as they all knew the danger they were facing. He wanted to at least give them the last chance before they forget each other’s voice.
His thoughts were erupted as his radio on his hip turned on, a static was heard though it quickly went away, “..Weird.”
He pressed a button to where he could talk but when he received nothing, his brows furrowed and he stopped his movements.
“What's wrong?” Ochaco asked as she had almost ran into Katsuki’s back.
As Shota gave them no explanation, only trying the radio, they felt on edge once again. Katsuki had shifted to where his body was almost touching F/n as he looked around, his hand resting on his gun that hung from a holster.
Denki also looked around as he wiped his eyes and looked into the darkness where he saw something move. The mist had collected on his tear duct, “I see a rotter up ahead.”
Hanta pulled out his knife as he looked to where Denki was looking, “Where.”
F/n had moved to them when she heard them speaking. While Denki pointed ahead, she too could see the figure however, something was unusual about it and it seemed that Shota knew as his eyes widened, but before he could utter out a word flashing lights blinded each of them.
They let out a groan and shielded their eyes. Their senses had disappeared as they were caught off guard, but the sound of engines running had them on high alert. Unfortunately for them, as they were trying to regain their focus, they were all shoved and hit until they were forced down to their knees.
“Well, well…” Tomura had to grin, this was so predictable to him, “Looks like I caught you.”
Due to the light blinding them and the shoving they hadn’t realized that Toshinori’s group was there, already on their knees with their mouth gagged by a sheet of cloth and their hands tied behind their back.
F/n’s eye twitched as she looked at Shoto who was next to her. A fog of breath came out as they both looked at eachother, worried and frightened looks adorning their faces.
Tomura grinned at every one of them, shaking his head like he was scolding a child. He swung his rusty, bloody ax around like it weighed nothing, “All you had to do was stay put. Keep bringing me what I want, letting me have whatever I want, and you can all live happily.”
F/n had to look away from Shoto as she tried to look for Hanta. He was at the end and she was at the front line. So even if she wanted to protect him with the hidden gun that they didn’t find, she would have difficulty doing so.
“Who planned this?” Tomura looked at each of them, waiting for one of them to respond, though all he could see were worried faces. He had to scoff, he was expecting them to be scared but as he looked at some, that being Katsuki, Shota, Toshinori and Gunhead, all he saw was their hardened glare.
If no one was going to answer, then it looked like he had to threaten one of them as he once again swung his ax and stopped it before it hit Denki, “Who planned this?”
Denki had flinched, his eyes widened as he was terrified. He had to look at the mud underneath his hands to contain his spiking anxiety.
“You don’t tell me who and I’m going to start killing people.” Tomura said to all them and then looked at one of his men that stood behind. The said male pulled his gun and pointed it at Hanta, making F/n’s eyes widened. Though she didn’t have time to grab her gun as she heard Toshinori.
“It was me!” The male said, his glaring eyes looking at Tomura, “I’m the one who orchestrated it.”
“You and your big words.” Tomura said, eyeing his men so that he could drop the gun. He walked to the male, looking down at him, “I know it wasn’t just you, so who else did it.”
“Honest!” He said, sweat forming on his forehead, “I did it all myself. Nezu doesn’t even know we’re here.”
All their foreheads began to sweat, the mist around them adding to their damp figures. Eijrio had to dig his nails in the wet dirt as his heart was pacing in frightness. He tried to contain his worries, let the fact that Gunhead was next to him ease him, but it was hard with the enemies surrounding them.
The rest noticed the older male lying, though they chose not to say anything. If they did, they feared that they would end up getting Toshinori killed, so for now they stayed quiet.
Tomura let out a sarcastic laugh, “Bullshit.”
“It’s true.” Shota then spoke after giving a brief glance to Gunhead, ignoring the fact the other male tried to get his attention.
Shota knew he shouldn't even be talking, he had a family waiting for him at home, but he couldn't let Toshinori take the blame. He also had a part to play, a major part, “Nezu would have never agreed to it, he’d never agree to put anybody in danger. The way he sees it..you’re keeping us safe.”
That had made Tomura’s group laugh and as they did so, Shoto’s eyes wandered to his brother's form. Dabi stood in front of him, staring him down. The male had his arms behind his back and Shoto noticed that he kept swaying his head to the side.
He followed his movements with his eyes though he was unsure of what to look at. It was then he looked behind his back, where his hands were placed. He kept waving three fingers. Shoto didn’t know what it meant until Dabi looked at his friends, his heart dropping when he realized.
Tomura then made his way to Shota, smirking down at him as the male glared back at him “And you thought it’d be a good idea to help? Was losing the eye not enough for you?”
Denki, Ochaco and Hanta had dug their nails into the dirt. They took a good look around, only their eyes did as they worried that if they moved their head a bullet would enter their skulls. They also shook and they weren’t sure if it was because it was cold or they were terrified.
Since Ochaco was next to Izuku, she briefly glanced at those in front. A fog came out her breath as she noticed that they too were scared. Izuku had his jaw clenched, F/n had her nails digging the mud, Shoto had his eyes narrowed ahead, and Katsuki glared at the ground.
Shota continued to glare at him to which Tomura did not like as he crouched down to his level, jamming his finger to his forehead, “Just remember, that whatever happens next, it’s on you.”
He stood up and looked at his underlings, “If anybody moves, kill them.”
With a quick shift on his feet, Tomura swung his ax, successfully landing it on Toshinori’s head. The ones one kneeled down let out shrieks and gasp. Their mouths hung open in shock as they stared at the older male.
Katsuki had let out a shaky breath, his face splashing with blood as Tomura pulled the ax out and rammed it back inside until Toshinori couldn’t be unidentified. His eyes began to water as he couldn’t look away, his nails clawed at his jeans as the blood gushed out.
His cheeks were smeared in blood, his black eyes stared at his friend, lying in a pool of blood. Shota’s fingers twitched as he couldn't do nothing but watch as the one holding the ax continued to slam it down with a grunt.
This isn’t what he wanted. All Shota wanted was for Sorston to be at ease, for his daughters to live in a place where they don’t have to fear every night. Was he…ever going to see them again?
Tomura let out a groan as his back popped, he wiped some blood off his cheeks and then let out a satisfied sigh, “This is what happens when you don’t do what you're told, Shota. All you had to do was work for me, but you ruined it. You think I’m going to believe that bullshit story of yours?”
Shoto refrained from also wiping the blood from his cheeks, his eyes kept glancing back at Dabi, pleading him to do something but the older male continued to cock his head to the side almost as if saying, no.
“You did this, Shota.” Tomura let out a shrug walking back and forth, adjusting his gloves while his ax was placed underneath his armpit, “You and your stupid fucking plan. What about your family?”
That caused his breath to hitch as he looked up at him, glaring, “Don’t.”
“Are you really in any position to demand me?” Tomura laughed, his underlings also joining him, “I’m not going to touch them…at least not yet.”
Denki had to bite his lips from throwing up. With all the gruesome stuff he's seen, this one shook him to his core.
Tomura then stopped walking, his head looking down to a pair of eyes that glared at him. He swung his ax side to side, looking at Hanta, undecided on what to do with him. Tomura’s only doing this to make a point. Don’t cross him and he won’t cross you, well only part of that is a lie. But he couldn’t deny he was having fun.
It's not like his job was being a criminal.
F/n had to blink as the mist began to weld up in her eyes. She swallowed her saliva as she stared at Hanta, holding in from letting out a noise as Tomura just stared at her cousin, swinging the ax.
It felt like she was the only one there, but she wasn’t as everyone else looked Hanta's way. She couldn’t care less about them or the people behind her, all she wanted was for the crazy man to back away. But it was like he was egging her on as he just stood there.
She knows what he could do, so to see him do it to Hanta, petrified her. Her hands only shook in the mud, waiting for Tomura to make a move so she could quickly grab her gun.
The light-blue haired male finally let out a sigh as he stopped swinging his ax. He smiled when Hanta’s glare had softened, almost knowing what was to happen next, “I’m doing you a favor.”
When Tomura lifted his ax F/n wasted no time and quickly pulled out her gun from her ankle and shot it at Tomura. Izuku and Shoto had let out a muffled groan, flinching as the shot was loud, their ears ringing from the unexpected shot.
But while they were both recovering, F/n eyes widened and tears began to collect when she realized that she missed. She was panting, realizing her mistake as Tomura slowly looked at her, grinning.
Toga had quickly disarmed the girl, shoving her to the ground and gripping her hair, making F/n make eye contact with Tomura. The red eyed male, grinned at her, his fingers gripping the ax, “Because of that…he dies.”
“No! No!” She yelled out, the others loudly gasping and looking away as Tomura swung his ax down to Hanta’s face. She let out a breath as she watched her family, her cousin, her best friend, die right in front of her.
Her mouth was left open, tears streaming down her face as everything of him was disappearing and all she could do was listen as Toga snickered and kept her head in place. She could only watch and watch and watch as Hanta could no longer be recognized.
The freckle male next to her had his own tears coming down and when he looked at F/n, he couldn’t help but feel sorry for her as she continued to weep. He couldn’t help but notice that underneath Toga’s frame, she was shaking, her hands twitched as her head would jerk as she stared at her cousin.
He’s never seen her in this state. For her to just crumble right in front of him was a sight that startled him. A sight that he never wanted to see.
Tomura let out a pant when he stood back up, he dropped his ax as he stared down below, noticing his shoes had a coat of blood. He grinned as he stared at the rest, wiping his nose in the process, “You’re lucky I’m getting bored.”
He then pulled a gun out of his waistband and shot Shota in the head, where his body fell with a thump. The group didn’t have time to react as it happened fast, so when they looked to see their teacher, someone F/n thought was strong, dead, they could only shed a few more tears, their energy wasted from all the crying and their heart aching.
But when Tomura hastily made his way towards F/n, Katsuki, Izuku and Shoto shifted in their spot. They weren’t exactly sure what to do, but they didn’t want her to die next. They flinched though, when Toga removed herself and let Tomura grab her hair, making her see him.
He no longer adorned his grin, his ruby eyes piercingly stared at the heartbroken girl. He pointed his fingers to her chest, “You had every part to play for that guy's death. That’s on you.”
A bundle of tears glided across her cheeks as the male roughly let her go, choking on a sob as she allowed her head to fall and look at the ground below her.
Tomura then looked at Gunhead, the one he allowed to live to deliver a message, “You tell Nezu that I better see more than eighty percent and if I don’t then it’ll be guns blazing. You tell him that if he makes another damn move, I’m going to make him watch as I kill every single person in that shitty place, then I’m going to feed him to the dead.”
He grabbed his bloody ax and placed it on his shoulders, “And if you, or anybody else decides to come after me, then I’m killing everyone you ever loved.” He grinned, “Though I’m guessing they’re all dead by now.”
Before he could leave, he sniffled as he looked at one of his men, signaling to Shoto who glared at him, “Grab him.”
They did so, dragging the boy while the group could only watch, not forgetting about the men that were behind them with rifles in hand. They watched as Shoto tried to stand up, trying to leave the tight grip that was pulling his jacket but he couldn’t catch his feet. Not with his hands tied behind his back.
His last glance before they threw him inside a truck was at F/n, his heart shattering as the girl couldn’t look at him, too busy staring at the mud and sobbing her eyes out. Did she even know he was being taken?
“Remember!” Tomura yelled out as he made his way to the truck with his main men following, “I’m always listening!”
One by one, everyone began to leave in their own set of cars. They took the duffel bags and any remaining weapons, then leaving the group behind, letting them take in all that's happened.
They left them to their tears, to their memories, to the dead bodies that were on the floor. Some felt bad for them as they too experienced the same thing, but what had to be done, had to be done and they only hoped that the group would listen so that another devastating loss didn’t happen.
When the final car left, Denki, Ochaco and Katsuki  let out a shaky sigh of relief. They swallowed their saliva, and looked at their dead friends and teachers. None of them decided to make a move, only staring at the blood, their final image of what their friend, their teachers looked like.
It was Gunhead  who first moved, the loose rope around his wrist came undone as he took the cloth away from his mouth. His eyes shutted for a moment, wishing that he was one who chose to speak first instead of Shota as he had people to return home to. However, the black-haired male had beat him first, giving him a shared look to not speak.
He then shifted to his side, where Eijiro sat, untying his rope, “...We should leave.”
F/n could hear him, but she didn’t care for him. She didn’t care as all she did was stare at the mud below her, her tears added onto the muddy dirt, staining her jeans and her hands. She didn’t care when Katsuki and Izuku tried to help her get up or when the others began to move.
The sky then rumbled as heavy rain began to pour, drenching their forms.
She took a breath in, her head slowly moving to right, passing by Izuku as she stared at Hanta. Her tears fogged her eyes, but she could see him, at least what was left of him. His smile, his dumb jokes, their fond memories were all leaving her mind as she tried so hard to cling onto them.
All she wanted was to go back to her home, be in the arms of her family, and be with Hanta.
 Now, she was alone.
She was truly, terribly alone.

After another few hours, they all returned back to the bus. Some of their shoulders were beginning to get sore from the kickback of the guns. As Gunhead drove the bus back, Shota looked down to his clipboard where the names of people he had taken were written.
It was harsh to say, but most of these people don't have any strength. He can see the way they're scared and he can’t have that. So as he went down the list, he checked off those he wanted, those who were staying back to defend Sorston in case of anything and then those who weren’t having any part of it.
The drive wasn’t that long, so they easily and quickly made their way back, parking the bus by the side on a patch of grass. F/n was super bummed out when she exited the vehicle and made her way to the center of the community, she really wanted to fire a gun.
How long has it been? Weeks? Maybe a few months, right?
“Where are you going?” Shoto quickly caught up to the girl.
She looked at him and shrugged, “Home. Or the weaponry, I think they might need help placing the guns back. Why?”
He pointed behind him where his classmates were standing, all talking among each other, “They’re making a small dinner in memory for Kyoka. I guess in a way we should celebrate so that she can peacefully move on.”
“Touched.” She said, placing a hand on her heart, “But, uh, I was never part of her class, and I didn’t even know the girl.”
“You can still show up, they’re fine with it.” He really wanted her to go, “Hanta will be there.”
She thought about it, biting her lips, “I’ll think about it-”
“Please.” He grabbed her hand, “At least for me. She was my friend too.”
Ah, he pulled that card. She finally nodded, “Yeah, okay sure.”
He pulled her along to his friends, almost yanking her arm, “They want to get started right now. They also need extra hands.”
She wasn’t a great cook, so hopefully someone taught her a lesson or two, “Okay, what about the funeral?”
“That's later.” Momo said when the two reached them, “I hope you don’t mind helping us out. I know…Kyoka wasn’t your friend, so for you to help, really means a lot.”
“Yeah.” Not like she really had a choice with the male next to her, “Sorry…for your loss.”
This was awkward for her as she stood by, idling watching the class talk. Should she pretend to be upset at the funeral? She hoped she didn’t have to say anything and if she did, she should thank the dead girl for the guns.
Before the funeral, they all made their way back to Momo’s, Mina’s and Ochaco’s house. Kyoka also resided in the home, but since she was no longer here among this world, they would close her room and let it collect dust.
“So, like this?” F/n eyed Izuku's hand and how he gripped the knife, he was showing her how to cut a cucumber for the salad.
“How is it that you're good at handling knives, but not using one to cook?” His voice held a teasing tone.
“Hey, my mom did all the cooking. If she had birthed a son, then I would have been stuck in the kitchen.” She shrugged, “And I do know how to cook…a little.”
“Your shit at it.” Katsuki said as he passed by, eyeing her thick and thin cucumber slices, “What the hell am I even looking at? It looks like a damn tragedy.”
She scoffed, “We’re going to eat it eventually, so does it matter if it's pretty?”
“Well…” Izuku looked at the vegetable, “It would at least be nice if it looked pleasant. Kind of adds to the whole dish.”
The blonde shoved the girl, “Why don’t you go help Hanta at the grill. You gotta be at least good at that.”
“Well just so you know, I am.” She rolled his eyes at him and left the kitchen, heading to the front porch, unbeknownst of the freckle male feeling bitter at his childhood friend for taking her attention.
“What do you think you're doing?” Izuku asked the blonde, slightly glaring at him.
He scoffed, “What does it look like I’m doing?”
“She was doing just fine here.” He stopped his cutting movement, “You didn’t have to send her out.”
“And yet she did.” The blonde looked at him before smirking. They were rivals before, but they thought they squashed it all before the world ended, but now that they were going after the same person, that was all it took for their rivalry to begin once more.
They both looked at each other. Now that Izuku wasn’t a meek little kid who would let Katsuki control him, they wondered how this would play off. They of course had forgotten about Shoto, the said male was just outside with the girl.
Denki clapped his hands, “Hey, hey, whatever is going on with you two, blow it away. We’re not done and I want this to be perfect.”
It was Izuku who looked away first, smiling at Denki, “Sorry, I’ll get to it.”
As always, Katsuki took this as a win as he left to go help Ochaco and Eijiro with the potatoes, “My bad, Dunceface.”
The yellow-haired male shook his head before heading to the bathroom where he locked himself in. He sniffled as he washed his face with cold water. He felt so guilty for not being there with Kyoka. She was his friend and probably more than that, so for her to just die suddenly…broke his heart.
How many more people he loves needed to die?
“Y’know when my dad made steak, he used to put beer on it.” F/n said, flipping a steak, “It was pretty good.”
“That’s probably why you’re like this.” Hanta laughed, though he flinched when she punched his shoulder.
“Don’t be insulting me.” She glared at him, “I remember you stuffing your face with three.”
Shoto would have also chimed in, but he didn’t really have any fond memories of his father. His mother, yeah, but not his father. Speaking of his father, he wondered what he was doing below his feet.
Then he stared at F/n. She’d been different these days and he wasn’t sure if the girl knew. She’s less hostile, more talkative, and out of her shell. He liked that. It seemed like he and of course Katsuki and Izuku, were able to shatter her walls.
“You think we still have to be twenty to get drunk?” Hanta asked as he swung himself on the porch swing, “I saw some beers in the pantry room.”
“I don’t think Denki would appreciate us getting drunk.” F/n said, though the idea of getting shit faced sounded nice.
“Maybe another time?” Shoto asked. He’s never even tasted beer. Maybe it’s not so bad with how many alcoholics are out there, or at least were.
Hanta shook his head, “I think Aizawa and the rest of the council team will get drunk. They too are mourning for Hizashi.”
“You guys celebrate separately?” Shoto looked at the other male.
“Yeah.” He said, looking at his cup of soda, “Then we do another celebration with the whole community, but with the way things are now, I doubt it’ll happen.”
The front door opened and out came Ochaco. She looked at the three, “Suns setting down, so we’re heading out in a bit.”
They nodded and watched as the girl left. After F/n placed the last steak on a paper plate, she handed it to Shoto who took it inside while she and Hanta began to clean up. As she did so, she would eye her cousin, “Sorry for your friend. I didn’t know her, but she seemed cool.”
The male sadly smiled at her, “Thank you.”
It seemed like almost half of the community was here at the burial site. Despite the dirt being damped, the graves looked beautiful. Bundles of different flowers were placed on top of the graves, some being in vases.
F/n hung in the back, letting her friends and their friends as well as the other people take their time to say goodbyes. She watched as some placed small trinkets, possibly something that reminded them of their fallen friends.
Even if she was coldhearted, she couldn’t help but feel sad for them as she looked down at the graves. The moody weather didn’t help  much as she could feel the rain coming. Maybe this was Kyoka and Hizashi giving in their last cries before they truly disappear.
About another forty minutes, the crowd began to disappear and head into their homes. While Shota, Toshinori, Nezu and the rest of Hizashi’s friends headed to their own small gathering, class 1-A headed to Momo’s home.
The feast began as the friends tried their best to cheer each other up while music played in the background. F/n could hear them laugh and some dancing. She had a feeling that someone snuck in beer as she could see Mina and Fumikage a bit tipsy.
She hadn’t bothered to join in and instead sat in the living room after she finished eating. She sat next to the armrest, her right arm leaned on it as she stared aimlessly at the black TV. Her other hand held a cup of soda, almost empty.
Hanta had stumbled across her, landing on her as she groaned and quickly lifted the cup so it wouldn’t spill. She glared at her laughing cousin, “What the hell is so funny? It's a funeral, behave yourself.”
He made no effort in moving as his legs were on top of her, his feet hanging from the armrest, “I don't know if I’m happy or sad. I feel like crying, but I want to be happy at the same time.”
She watched as he wiped his eyes, “Are you drunk?”
He let out a choked laugh, “No. Don’t be silly.”
Her glare had softened as she let her hands rest on top of his legs. She patted his legs in a comforting way, “It’s going to be okay, Hanta. I’m sure, wherever Kyoka is, she’s happy and free. She’s probably looking down on us and laughing at her friends behavior and maybe she's glad to see that her friends are doing fine without her.”
He stared at the ceiling light before letting out a warm smile, “I think I’m just tired. Today was pretty eventful and with what we're facing next, it's making me stressed.”
A tiny smile displayed on her lips as she watched him get up, “You going to bed?”
He nodded and ruffled her, which she usually never liked but allowed it to happen if it meant he’d feel better, “Goodnight, F/n. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“Goodnight, Hanta.” Once his figure exited the door, she stared at the blank TV. The soda cup in hand as she listened to the rowdy commotion. She could faintly hear Izuku laughing and Katsuki yelling.
The spot next to her dipped, “You’re not enjoying yourself?”
She gave a brief glance at Shoto before looking back at the TV, “No, I am. I’m just…pretending to watch my favorite show.”
“Funny.” He said while looking at the TV. He pursed his lips as he needed to tell her something. Something about that day when Tomura came, when he came in contact with his brother. It was now or never, right?
F/n seemed to sense that he wanted to say something as she sat up, looking at him “What is it?”
He hesitantly looked at her, “...Do you remember when I told you about a brother of mine?”
When she nodded, he continued, “The day when…they died, he was there.”
She was confused as her brows shifted.
He then looked at her, a very depressing smile played on his lips as he softly held her hand, “...If anything happens to me…I want you to know…that I love you.”
Her eyes widened and her pupils dilated as she watched him stand up, give her a short kiss on the forehead before leaving the home. Her heart was racing at a pace that she didn't know it could go at and she had to blink several times as her eyes began to water from how widened they were.
She was…appalled. Shocked. How could she have been oblivious to the signs? Considering it was right in front of her. She’s spent countless nights with him, so how had she not noticed?
She had to take a deep breath and remember where she was. She couldn’t let anyone look at her like this so she stared at the cup in her hands. Being caught off guard was something she did not like, but…her heart couldn't help but do flips as she let her hand touch her forehead.
She could feel her form heating up as it felt like his lips were still on her. However, despite the lingering touch she couldn't shake the feeling that something felt off. Everything about his confession felt wrong. To say she was flattered was the least of her problems as she needed to  know what he meant by if something were to happen to him.
Did he know something that she didn't?
She couldn't think with how loud everyone was. She needed to leave, she didn’t like what she was feeling so she left the room and went to the porch where she hoped the male would be and knock some sense into him.
Though he was nowhere in sight and she was left alone in the cold, staring at an empty street while the music and the people inside began to get louder, deafening her racing heart.

When morning arrived, Shota and Toshinori wasted no time gathering people who they wanted to train. They knew of the risks they were taking but luckily with the help of those who had knowledge on fighting, there would be no problem. He was, however, concerned and bothered by the fact he’d probably be taking those who were just coming of age.
Quite a few people, including F/n were tiredly standing by, waiting for Shota’s and Toshinori instructions. She covered her mouth as she let out a yawn and blinked her sleepiness away.
Next to her stood Hanta who had trouble keeping himself up. His figure swayed as his eyes threatened to close.
“Good morning!” Izuku beamingly smiled as he stood next to the girl.
She squinted at him, “How the fuck are you so chirpy.”
He let out a chuckle, placing his hands in the pockets of his sweater, “I have no idea. I had just come back from a run over an hour ago. I’m running on three hours of sleep.”
“Wow.” She eyed his figure, noticing his dishevel figure, “Anyways, you know why we're here?”
He shook his head, “No, not really. But judging from the bus and getting here early, I’m sure it's not good.”
She hadn’t even realized there was a bus. Where did they even acquire such a big vehicle? Damn, did she really need coffee, “Shota had told us that we’ll be shooting guns. Defending ourselves.”
He hummed, then eyed her, “Why are you here? You already know how to use one.”
She slightly glared at Shota, “I’m here because I’m teaching people the equipment. So is Hanta.”
He looked at the male next to her, his eyes were shut and Izuku wondered if Hanta was asleep, and if he were he was amazed at how he could sleep standing up. He then looked back at F/n, his smile returning, “How do you feel about helping us.”
“Not my cup of tea.” She said, slightly swaying to keep herself warm, “Do I really want to teach a bunch of people who don’t know jack? No. Why not let them stay behind.”
He didn’t know why he asked her that when he already knew the answer. He let out a sigh, a fog of breath coming out, “Most of these people are my friends.”
“Well sorry to say it, but most will end up dying.” She shrugged though she ended up walking away as Shota had informed them to get on the bus.
Izuku stared at her leaving form, “Couldn’t hurt to be nice.”
When she took her seat, she couldn’t help but think back to her family's farm. What if it turned out the same? She’s seen what a horde could do, so imagining the same thing happening with Sorston, all she could see is blood staining the streets.
She had looked out the window when the bus began to drive off. She got a good look at the area. If it were to happen again, she needed a way out where she could hide until the horde finished ripping the community apart.
“What are you worried about?” Shoto said, as he had taken a seat next to her. He had been waiting for her to start the conversation, but upon seeing her brows furrowed, he thought she must've been worried about something.
She looked at him, swallowing her saliva, “Nothing. Just wondering how I’ll maintain my sanity.”
He let out a chuckle, “What makes you say that?”
“Because I got to train you newbies.” She smiled at him, “It’s not easy.”
“We’re just shooting guns.” He said, “Show us how the safety works, how to aim, how to shoot, how to fill the chamber and unload.”
“There’s more to it.” She said as she looked out the window, “After they know everything, who's to say their minds won’t go blank when they face danger. I mean look at these people, Shoto. They’ve all been hiding inside the walls and probably haven't seen a dead since they arrived.”
Shoto knew what she meant and as he looked around, she was right, but he wanted her to keep hope, “Maybe they’ll prove you wrong.”
She softly scoffed as she glanced at the window, her eyes then shifted above where she could see Shoto’s glared frame. Not a chance in hell was she wrong.
One by one they all got off the bus with Gunhead being last. They entered a park, gates surrounding the small field as it was supposed to be reconstructed, adding in a different playground that could be considered kid friendly.
A few ripped up and dirty banners hung from the gates. A long while back Gunhead and a few people from the council team had cleared the area, hanging up tarps so that no one could see inside where they would train.
The civilians of Sorston hardly used the areas as they wouldn’t dare to venture out the walls, so the field was hardly used except for Gunhead and those he took under his wing like Ochaco. The said male grabbed the duffel bags and set them near a table.
Shota had pulled F/n aside and pointed to a few metal poles. The poles were meant to hold a ball but it was replaced by worn out tires, a few bullet holes engraving it, “That’s what you’ll be using to train them.”
“Yeah, I know what to do.” F/n said, remembering when her father showed her, “What about upgrading?”
Shota stared at the girl,  “What do you mean upgrading?”
“Like making them, uh, shoot the dead.” She waved her hand, “There's no way they’ll be able to face their fears by shooting some old worn out tires.”
Shota gave her a look, “We’re not there yet. For now we’ll take things slow.”
“Take things slow.” She scoffed, “Then how exactly are you going to make them learn?”
“By shooting the damn tires.” He said before leaving, “Nothing more.”
“Well see how that plays out.” She mumbled and looked at the tires. The gate rattling had caught her attention. She turned to where the bus was parked, a few rotters trying to claw their way inside and looking at a few people standing by Gunhead.
They seemed scared as their faces worryingly looked at the rotters. Some held themselves and made sure they stood behind someone in case the dead got in. It was a pathetic sight to her as she shook her head, looking back at the tires, “These people are so dead.”
“Couldn’t agree more.” Katsuki said as he stood by her, he was so glad that he had gotten to her first before Izuku and Shoto. He then shoved his gun to her chest, “C’mon, show me how to use it.”
She scoffed as she grabbed it, “You already know how to use it. Or did your numbskull brain forget?”
“Yeah, fuck you.” He said, placing his hands on his hips, “Show me what you know.”
She eyed the gun, her thumb hovering a small lever on the side of the gun, “You see this?”
His humming had her continue, “When your magazine, or chamber, runs out of bullets, you’ll pull this lever upwards, and when you hear a click, it means you can slide out the magazine. Watch.”
He carefully watched her movements, following her fingers. She moved her fingers so quickly, that he needed her to show him a second time. Though he wasn’t going to ask her, he’ll figure it out to save him the embarrassment.
“And here's your magazine.” She said, showing the inside, “No bullet, but once you do you’ll put them in here neatly otherwise the shit won’t go through and make sure it’s facing the direction of the muzzle, the muzzle is where the bullet comes out, the tip, alright?”
“‘Kay.” He said, taking in the information, “So when can I fucking shoot.”
She quickly placed the magazine back inside and slid the barrel backwards. The action was too fast for Katsuki’s eyes to follow as he suddenly felt the muzzle on his chest, “You're dead. Pew, pew.”
He scoffed, slapping her head, a coat of blush staining his cheeks, “Didn't your crazy man ever teach you not to play with that!?”
“My crazy dad taught me to shoot.” She grinned at him, “So I’m shooting.”
He looked away, making sure that she couldn’t see his blushy face. He heard her let out a chuckle, the action causing his heart to speed up. Should he blame that on the sun that was covered by the clouds?
“Take your time!” Toshinori yelled out, trying to outmatch the gunshots. He noted that a few were scared from accidentally startling the rotters, “Don’t be scared about the dead, I have a team taking care of that.”
Some time had passed, a group of people sat on benches, learning the parts of the weapons by Hanta and F/n. The other half were taught to shoot by Toshinori, Gunhead and Shota. Then there were a few that took out the rotters that came close to the gates.
F/n was rather getting bored of her teaching. Having to repeat it multiple times is something she didn't find exciting, “You see how the barrel is slid back and there's this small little opening in the middle?”
Mina, Momo, Eijiro, Izuku and Shoto nodded. For now she would teach them while Hanta would teach a different group. Since she first taught Katsuki, the male had been placed in the shooting ring where he practiced his aim, “This small opening is called the ejection port. It's where the bullet goes and since I already showed you how to load and unload the magazine you should be all set.”
Mina nodded as she eyed her gun, “I noticed there was a different type of gun. How does that one work?”
F/n grabbed the mentioned gun, “It's called a revolver and just like the pistol, it's got a little lever. You slide, the cylinder comes out, you put bullets and then click it back in. When you shoot you open the cylinder back up, flip it so that the casing or the shell falls out and put in new bullets.”
The group oohed as they eyed the revolver. She nodded, impressed how quickly they catched on. This was going faster than she expected, “Now, when you drop the casing don’t try to grab it. If you just fired it, the casing will be hot, okay.”
“Yes.” Shoto said, his eyes shining at the revolver, “Now what about the rifles?”
“Oh, Shoto, Shoto, Shoto.” She let out a chuckle, placing the gun down, “It’s actually quite easy. The same as the pistols.”
Izuku nodded as he remembered his old rifle he held, “Right, I know how to use one. It’s very easy, but I don't know most of the parts besides the magazine.”
“Well if you know how to use one,” She imitated a smile, “Then you’re all good. Anyways I need a damn break.”
“Wait!” Momo stood up, “What about the rifles!?”
She waved her hand, “Izuku will teach you that.”
All this teaching was giving her a headache. She needed space away from them all, so she sat a bit further ahead on a bench facing a playground that was being built. She sniffled, her nose becoming cold from the air.
If she and Katsuki and Izuku along with Shoto were still outside, they would most definitely freeze. She was actually grateful for Sorston as they offered a warm bed, warm shower and meals, but she couldn't help but prefer being outside. It was in her nature to love it.
She wiped her eyes as she looked at the group that fired their guns. She noted that some were scared from the loud noise, a few being paranoid and some giving in their all into making a bullet in the tire; like Ochaco.
She didn’t know much about the girl, but the way she held the gun and her stance, it had F/n thinking she had potential. She cocked her head, perhaps she and the girl would get along well. She then saw Shota wave at a few people, it was time for those on the benches to shoot a gun.
She looked at Katsuki as he made his way towards her, “I see you did a terrible job.”
He ignored her comment, “You do know why we're here, right?”
She shrugged, though she didn’t get to have a say as he continued, “Mr. Nezu’s trying to free Sorston from danger. Let people live freely without anyone guessing who’s next to die. The supplies are becoming scarce from the way Tomura demands everything.”
He eyed the girl, but as usual, she held a face that he couldn’t read. He stared at his feet waiting for her to say something. He wondered if she even heard him as the situation they were in meant they’d soon be facing danger and he wanted her to take this seriously.
She looked at the new set of people firing their weapons and spoke, “This whole thing is so stupid. Preparing these people for some damn fight is going to get us killed. I don’t see why Shota can’t grab intel before heading to kill Tomura’s group.”
Katsuki had to scoff at her. Has she learned nothing? “Are you some kind of fucking idiot? He knows what he's doing, he's not dumb. If he has something planned then he’ll tell us the day we leave. Have some fucking respect for him.”
“Wow.” She sat up, eyeing him, “Sorry for insulting your teacher.”
“You should be.” He glared at her, “You’re not the only one who's smart.”
Her brows furrowed as she watched him get up and leave. Not to self, don’t disrespect his teachers.
The blonde had sat down at Hanta's table. He had shoved Denki so he could make room and watched as the black-haired male taught Ochaco, Mezo and Denki. He let his head rest on the palms of his head, his eyes occasionally glancing back at the girl who dug her shoes in the patch of grass, a flower crumbling underneath her feet.

“Is Nezu going to tell Denki about this?” Shoto asked Hanta, unsure of how things go when someone dies.
Hanta let out a sigh as he, Shoto and F/n headed towards the weaponry—well the two males followed the girl as she took the lead, “Nezu personally tells the family. He does it because he's the leader, but a part of me thinks he also does it because he feels guilty. Most of the people who died were killed by Tomura, with their families watching.”
“As for Aizawa?” Shoto asked again, “Is there a…funeral? I’ve seen burials behind the farm.”
“Yeah, they tell both him and his daughters along with Yagi.” He placed his hand on his nape, “And we do funerals. We do them when everyone is back from scavenging so they all get their last say. If the families wish for the loved ones to be burned or buried, then Nezu allows it.
“But since Denki and Aizawa aren’t here, he makes the call. We also write down their names in a book so we don’t forget them and then place it in a church by the farm.” He finished off with a sad sigh. He too was saddened by their deaths. He spent years with them, so for them to die right in front of him, made him severely upset. He would grieve later, in his bedroom.
“I’ve seen it.” Shoto remembered the white wooden church. He had gone there before he heard the commotion. Despite the church's wooden floors creaking underneath his foot, it was relatively nice and big inside. It was also very quiet, he almost felt like he could hear his mind. He also saw the book of names, a lot being on the list, “When do funerals usually happen?”
“During sundowns.” When they arrived at the weaponry, Hanta was the last to enter, “The shade of orange makes people feel comforted. Not really sure why.”
“Sunsets are nice to look a-” Shoto let out a small grunt as F/n shoved him a pistol. He had to admit that it kind of hurt, “What do I need this for?”
She gave him a look while passing one to Hanta, “You’ve seen what just happened. You really want that for yourself, because I don’t.”
“You’re being paranoid.” Hanta had to say it as he willingly took the gun.
“Seriously?” She glared at him, “I’m just trying to make sure that you can protect yourselves, alright. Don’t think I haven’t forgotten about Katsuki and Izuku.”
“Wait.” Shoto said, eying the pistol, “Don’t they take inventory? They’ll know that someone took it.”
“Yeah, he's right, F/n.” Hanta added.
She rolled her eyes and placed one in her jacket, “You guys are so stupid. With how quickly Mirio and that other guy went to grab the guns, they didn't have time to do inventory. I saw they added a bunch of guns; rifles and pistols. They’ll just add the ones we're taking to them.”
“I’m not stupid.” Shoto said, slightly glaring at her, “Don’t you think they’ll know which guns they took even with how quickly they went?”
“Watch that face.” She returned the glare, “Even if they remember, I doubt they’ll go asking questions. They’re terrified of Tomura and his group.”
“She’s also right.” Hanta then began to head out, feeling awkward, “I’m gonna go home and wait for Denki and Eijiro. Feel free to come.”
When the door shut, Shoto’s glare disappeared while her’s still stayed as she grabbed a box of ammo, “Here. Make sure to only use it when necessary, alright. And make sure to shoot this time.”
He scoffed as he sat on the stool that Gunhead previously sat on, “Right.”
“I’m done here, anyways.” She said and looked at him, “You wanna go home?”
“Yeah.”  Home. That sounded nice to him. He then thought about tonight's dinner, “You mind if we make soba tonight?”
“Sure.” She nodded, “Don’t know how to make that.”
“I can make it.” He smiled as they both exited the building and then made their way towards the food house. Making a meal for F/n, honestly made him feel intimate. Almost like she was actually his, and he would be preparing her meals, waking her up and doing what any partner would do.
He would obviously be different from his father, though he hoped, from what he heard, that she too would be different from her father. But the sad thing is, he could already tell just who she was becoming and if he had to cherish what little days he had with her, then that was exactly what he was going to do.
“You’re just in luck.” Tamaki said as handed Shoto the last few packs of noodles, “We’re still opening the packed food that you guys had brought. It’s a lot…so thank you.”
Seiji also nodded as he was in the back opening a box of cereal to place on the shelves, “Yeah, no kidding. If it weren’t for them we would have supplies that would last for at least a few months.”
“Maybe Katsuki and Izuku will bring back enough.” F/n said, letting Tamaki help Shoto with the rest, “Though I highly doubt it.”
“Who knows what's out there.” Seiji said, a box of chips in hand, “The community is just glad that you were able to risk your life for us.”
She had playfully scoffed, “We didn’t exactly risk our life. More like sitting on our ass for the most of it.”
When he let out a short laugh, she was able to get a good look at him. He kind of looked like Hitoshi. When she had asked Hanta for his whereabouts, the male had told him that he had died a long while back, since the beginning. To think her good friend, her best friend died really hurt her.
She couldn’t help but think that he was weak. But she understood that Hitoshi and her were on different levels, so of course it was evident that he would die. As long as he wasn’t suffering anymore, that was all that mattered.
From Shoto’s view, he began to get a little jealous as he watched her interact with Seiji. He couldn’t hear their conversation clearly, but it must've been good if she managed to make the male laugh. How come she didn’t make him laugh when they first met?
“We’re done.” Shoto said and grabbed her arm.
“What?” She said.
“We’re done.” He guided her, “Let’s go home.”
“Okay.” She was confused but didn’t say anything. She looked at the basket he held, “So you got all the ingredients.”
He nodded, “Most of it, but I’ll think of something.”
While Shoto began to make dinner, F/n headed to shower. After she returned to her room and looked out her window. She could slightly see outside the walls. All she could see were destroyed homes since the community was surrounded by it. She couldn’t see a few rotters, but only a few.
The people who took watch did a great job at getting rid of them. Maybe she should talk to Nezu and get placed there instead. She’d be using a gun and that sounded much more fun than cleaning one. She didn’t want to get soft like everyone else. She’d be a great asset with her experience anyways.
“Damn, this is really good.” She said as she chewed on the noodles, “Had I known you were such a great cook I definitely would have talked to you in high school. You and Izuku. Don’t know much about Katsuki.”
“Thanks.” A faint blush coated his cheeks, “I was thinking, since I don’t have much work with Momo in the gardening, that I’d come help you in the weaponry room. Get experience on what you have.”
She listened, spinning her chopsticks, “Yeah, sure. I can teach you, I was planning on doing so anyways. If you want to survive then you gotta know your weapons and know how to shoot. Not that I'm saying you don’t, just more of being careful.”
She would have mentioned teaching Izuku and Katsuki, but chose not to as she wanted to enjoy the time with him. Just him and her.
Her saying that she was going to help him made him have a smile. He’s never felt this way about anyone and to feel it, it felt so good. Even if the relationship was one-sided or if she was still trying to process it, Shoto should let her know.
..He should let her know…right?
Now that it's just them, he should tell her what he's truly feeling, before Izuku and Katsuki have the chance. If she were to say yes then he’d be ecstatic, but if she were to say no…he didn’t even want to think about it. But he has to let her know before something were to happen to him.
He continued to stare at her. He was nervous and his body heating up didn’t help, “...F/n..”
She hummed, “Yeah?
“I..” Say it, Shoto.
“You…?” She stared confusingly at him, her fingers holding onto the chopsticks mid air.
“..I.” Just say it, Shoto.
“Are you feeling okay?” She noted that his cheeks were red.
His eyes stared at her beautiful eyes, his brows were furrowed and he noted that she did the same. No, he couldn’t say it. Not yet at least, so for now he’ll contain his feelings and scoff at himself as he stared at the confused girl, “I’m tired. I think I’ll be heading to bed.”
“Uh,” She watched as he stood up, placed his half eaten soba in the sink and left for his bedroom, “...Okay.”
Had she said something to upset him? She hoped not, though she did want to hear what he had to say.
She now sat alone in the kitchen, unsure of what to do. The silence was loud as she looked to where he previously sat. She could hear him walking, though his footsteps soon quieted down.
She slurped the last noodle and placed her plate away before entering her room. The gun she had to take, she tucked it away under her bed where a floorboard was coming out. She had grabbed a few bullets and tucked those away as well.
She changed into comfortable clothing, mentally wishing Shoto a good night as she laid on her bed, where sleep consumed her. Unknowingly, the male doing the same as he stared at the ceiling, a letter resting next to him that could change his whole life.
The candles and lamp were the only ones that lighted Nezu’s office. His pet rat had gone asleep a while ago, so it was just him, Shota and Toshinori in his room. They had come back after their long month run, bringing what they could find as well as a family.
After the family had gotten settled in their new home, Shota and Toshinori reported back to Sorston’s leader. They had informed the shorter male about the cities they’ve come across. A few towns that were still gated, but no energy or utility source. They wanted to expand Sortson, but with how things were going, they had to put the plan on pause.
Shota and Toshinori had to sit down after hearing their friend's death. “I am sorry.”
Of course Shota was mad, he was furious but he displayed it with a sadden look as he had his hands on his face, “...Has he been buried?”
Nezu nodded, “Yes.”
Toshinori let out a soft sigh, as always putting his students first, “How is Denki doing?”
“They are to return tomorrow morning. I dispatched them before the signal could get lost.” Nezu said as he fixed a paper in front of him, “He and Eijirio brought back a group of your students; Katsuki, Izuku, Shoto and F/n.”
“They made it?” Toshinori was glad to hear that they were alive, “How far were they?”
“A day away.” Nezu said, “The funeral will hap-”
“Nezu.” Shota removed his hands from his face and looked at the male in front of them. They should have called a council meeting, but Shota didn’t want to wait. He didn’t want to wait for the rest to only deny, “We can’t keep doing this. Giving them what we find and in return they kill one of us. What kind of play is that?”
Nezu blinked, “I hope you’re not suggesting we do something.”
“I am.” Shota narrowed his eyes, or one of them at least. Due to Tomura’s antics the male had lost his right eye, “Countless of our people are dying because of him. Both my daughters could be next, anybody could be next.”
Toshinori knew where this was heading, “We need to call a meeting, Shot-”
“No. This stays between us, we make a call on this.” Shota then eyed Nezu, “We can’t let them keep doing this to us, Nezu. We have to put an end to it even if I or some of us have to die doing it.”
“Shota!” Toshinori couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
Nezu wanted  to disagree, he knows it's a bad idea.. It could all backfire and Sorston would be in an even more trouble than they are now. But, if everything went right, if Shota managed to pull this off, then Sorston would be free. Sorston would no longer have to be in fear and work until they die to please Tomura’s group; All For One.
All they needed to do was wait until he found a better solution, but, as much as he wanted to deny, what else could he do? This wasn’t the best plan, and all the plans Nexu had thought of only ended in bloodshed. But he had to take some control, let his people, his community feel safer, even if some had to die trying to make it better.
The smaller male looked back down to his desk, papers of written names from Sorston’s people. He hasn’t managed to interview Katsuki, Izuku, Shoto and F/n, but when he spoke with Hanta, he had written some information about his cousin.
He had to put his fear for the people behind, “I will gather some people to help you out, including myself.”
“No.” Shota said, placing his hand out to stop him, “You won’t be in this fight.”
“Shota, I am the leader, these people count on me to do the right thing.” He then added, “I know I don’t have to, but I want to. To avenge our fallen comrades.”
“And that is the reason why you can not come.” The raven-haired male said, “If we bring you and  things go bad Sorston won’t have a leader. This place needs one.”
“I agree.” Toshinori said as he looked at Nezu, “And with all due respect sir, you'll only be holding us back. So please, stay here.”
Nezu let a low sigh come from his nose, he had already chosen who was to lead next incase something were to happen to him and the council team knew it, yet they still refuse to believe it. He closed his eyes for a short moment before looking at the two in front, “I understand. Shota, you will be the lead for this operation. Toshinori you follow after.”
“Thank you, sir.” The two male say and bow their heads.
Nezu nodded as he shuffled through the papers on his desk, “I will have a group of people ready so that they can come with you. You can take your time with this, but I’ll have you know that Tomura is to return next week.”
“We’ll be ready before next week.” Shota then stood up, “And about the people, I hope you don’t mind that I pick and choose.”
“Not at all.” Nezu stood up to grab a folder that held all the names and information of the community's people, “I haven’t had the chance to add your students. F/n was never yours, but she knows how to handle a weapon, same as Hanta, so please, have her come with you.”
Once again Shota bowed before he and Toshinori left the room, “Thank you, sir.”

They had gotten their designated job and when their alarms rang at 8 AM, they woke up, changed and headed out. The boys wanted to see F/n, but she had left earlier, much to their dispamy. Her patience had been running as she just wanted to feel the heavy gun in her hands.
She rubbed her hands as she made her way to the weaponry, it was getting cold, and the thin jacket did little to keep her warm. She didn’t see Gunhead when she entered. She would have waited for him but when she spotted the bins of pistols, rifles, and automatic rifles, she let out a grin and picked one of them up.
The M6 rifle was a bit dirty for the most part. The chamber was empty and she looked around to find bullets. A rack shelf stored boxes of ammo, each neatly organized. She found the designated ammo, the bullets looked pretty in its box.
Only a bit of ammo was in the box she held. A couple other boxes of the same ammo were on the shelfs. She checked them, though feeling disappointed as it would only cover three rounds. She then looked around for a scope, luckily finding one.
She’d have to thank Kyoka, Tenya and Mashiro for finding such beauty. If only she talked that way about Katsuki, Izuku and Shoto.
“I see you found the M6.” Gunhead said, closing the door behind him.
She smiled smugly as she looked through the scope, “It’s pretty neat. Didn’t think I’d ever see a gun like this again.”
He hummed as he pulled a chair closer to the bins, “We’d have to thank the weapon team for finding it.”
“Oh, you bet I’m gonna thank them.” She said, lowering the gun and looking at him, “So what am I going to do today?”
“Well, seeing as how you’re familiar with the weapons, today you’ll clean them. We’ll start off with the pistols. Don’t put any bullets inside, we don’t want to accidently set it off.” He said to which F/n understandably nodded and began to work while he read the same book he read yesterday.
Izuku let out a yawn, shaking his head to wake up as he followed Mezo to the weaponry where it held a small room. At least he was going to see F/n, though he didn’t think he’d have a chance to talk with her.
“Good, you made it.” Ochaco said, avoiding eye contact with the male as they entered the building. Gunhead had waved at them, greeting them a good morning as they returned it.
The freckled male hoped that F/n would have turned to greet him as well, but he already knew she wouldn’t since she was busy looking over the weapons. He could tell the way her eyes shined at the gun she held. He hoped that maybe someday she would look at him the same way.
When they entered the room, a small table and four chairs were placed in the center with a few papers on it. Izuku had grabbed a written paper, looking at the town and cities, “You’ve already been here?”
Mezo handed him another paper, “Those are the cities that we’ve already scavenged for medical supplies.”
“And?” Izuku said, reading down the list.
“There’s nothing in those cities.” Fumikage said, sipping on his coffee.
He looked up from the paper, surprisingly, “You’ve been through every store?”
Ochaco opened up a map, “Only the pharmacies. We leave the grocery stores to Eijiro and Denki and the drug stores to Aizawa and Yagi.”
“And where are they?” Izuku asked, wanting to see his teachers.
“They’re on a run, looking for more survivors.” Fumikage said, warming his hands on the coffee cup, “They should be back sometime this week.”
The freckle male furrowed his brows, “Looking for survivors? Wouldn’t that be a disadvantage? Wouldn’t someone be a danger to everyone?”
“We don’t make the rules, Izuku. We just go by it.” Ochaco said, crossing her arm as she sat down, “From what I heard, this place was supposed to help start civilization again. That’s why there’s so many people. Someone from the military or someone affiliated with it, had brought civilians instead of people with power.”
“Like those that are higher up.” Mezo added.
“To start civilization?” Izuku couldn’t believe it. So the reason why Sortson was created was to repopulate. But why would someone even go out of their way to do that? Don’t get him wrong, he's glad to be here, but to think that someone wanted to do something that the higher ups had no effort in doing so was astounding.
“This is so damn boring.” Katsuki said as he sat in Denki’s and Eijiro’s living room, “When the hell are we getting out of here.”
“Dude, chill out.” Denki said as he passed him a soda, “We got to wait for Ochaco’s team to look for a city or something. We go with her in case of any emergencies.”
He scoffed, “Had I known I’d be sitting on my ass I would've gone with F/n. Heard the small ass house is loaded with guns, she’s proably throwing a damn fucking party.”
Denki eyed him, a cheshire grin forming on his lips. He placed his feet on the blonde's lap, “A little mouse told me, that you’d have plenty of fun with her, if you catch my drift.”
The blonde glared at him and threw his feet off his lap, “What the hell are you on about?”
“Eijiro told me about your teeny tiny little crush. Assuming it's small with that small heart of yours.” He quickly shielded his head as the blonde threw a pillow at him, repeatedly hitting him, “I was just joking! Have mercy!”
From the kitchen, Eijiro shook his head, eating a donut, “I miss this.”
“You have no idea what you’re talking about, Dunceface!” The blonde said as he continued to hit the male.
Denki waved his left hand while his right hand protected his head, “C’mon, man it’s totally obvious!”
“Shut the fuck up!” The blonde said, a blush coating his cheeks.
Shoto had to refrain himself from leaving. Why on earth would Nezu think that farming and gardening would be a good job for the male? He didn’t know anything about this. He grew up in the city! Not on the outskirts!
“Lighten up, city boy! Today is easy work!” Ryuko, the head lead from farming and gardening said as he passed the boy gloves, “Be thankful that you won’t work with the pigs or chickens. And on the plus side! You’ll have Momo working with you.”
The boy looked to his side where he saw Momo standing, “It’s not that bad, right?”
“Depends on what your version of bad is.” Momo had let out a chuckle, if only he knew.
“Right, I’ll leave you to it!” The long blonde-haired said as she made her way towards her friend, Yawara.
Momo nodded and entered further down the two aisles of wooden plant boxes. To the right were vegetables; peas, tomatoes, squash, carrots, potatoes, cucumber and cabbages. To the left was the fruit section; strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and melons. Then to the back, there were small trees, ready to bloom.
Shoto had pointed to the trees, “What are they growing?”
Momo hummed, “I think oranges and a cherry tree.”
“Cherries?” Shoto asked, a bit bizarre, on why they would grow cherries. Oranges he understood, but why not something else?
“Yeah, the community takes a vote on things that need to be planted.” Momo said as she placed some woven baskets on the ground, “We’re also trying to grow turnips, yam, celery, garlic and radishes.”
Shoto had looked to an empty space where he could see the dirt was damp, “The community as a whole makes decisions?”
Momo nodded as she crouched down, “Mr. Nezu wanted to make it fair. He wants the community to voice their problems and not seem like he is the only one who is in charge.”
“Why not a council team?” He asked as he crouched down next to the girl, watching the way she plucked the peas.
“Mr. Aizawa, Yagi, Chatora, Gunhead, Mirio, Tsuchikawa and Tamaki are in the council.” She placed a pea in the basket, “Along with Mr. Nezu, of course.”
She wanted to mention Hizashi, but she decided not to as she was sure that he was long dead by now since the bandits had taken him for collateral.
“So F/n was wrong.” Shoto muttered as he thought back to yesterday when the girl thought that Sortson only had a leader.
“That’s the girl you came with, right?” Momo said, “I haven't gotten the time to meet her. I hear she's a pretty good fighter.”
“Yeah, she is.” Shoto said, not noticing the way Momo smiled at him when he had a faint blush on his cheeks. The boy couldn’t feel it from how cold the weather was.
Momo showed him how to pluck as she continued to speak, “Usually we work on the afternoons, but since I was chosen to work on the plucking, I chose to do it in the morning, that way we don’t do anything on the afternoons unless the farming group need the extra help. I was the only one appointed to pick the fruits and vegetables, so I hope you don’t mind that I choose you to help me. It can be really relaxing.”
Ah, so she’s the reason why he’s here. I guess it was relaxing as he plucked the peas, “It’s fine. Maybe I can learn something.”
She smiled at that, “That’s what I said.”
Time seemed to go by fast as she cleaned the guns. She had paid every attention to the detail and made sure that not a spec of dirt was seen. She hadn’t noticed Ochaco’s team leaving a while ago along with Izuku. She probably should have noticed him as the male was left bothered to not receive her attention.
“Lunch break.” Gunhead said as he came back and passed her a brown lunch bag, “Feel free to go home, you’ve done plenty today. You can work on the rest tomorrow.”
“Nah.” She catched the bag effortlessly and noticed he didn’t have one, “You’re not eating?”
He shook his head as he gathered his cup that he had bought an hour ago, “I have to check on Mei in her workshop. I am a busy man.”
She nodded as she munched on a sandwich. She then looked at  it, “This is pretty good.”
Before he left, he let out a chuckle, “Thank you.”
It wasn’t long until she finished her sandwich. It’s been quite a while since she’s had a meal, like last night’s dinner. Despite them not having the pork, she did enjoy the rice and eggs as it almost tasted like Katsuon. Izuku was a really great cook.
When she wiped her hands and crushed her bag, her ears faintly catched on people yelling. She was quick on her feet when she saw people running towards the entrance gate. She grabbed a pistol she had previously loaded and placed it behind her waistband, running out the door and following the others.
She kept low as she proceeded. She didn’t hear gunshots, but she did hear people arguing and yelling, maybe a little crying. As she got closer, peeking behind a shack, she could see an army truck with at least six people standing by, all with guns and a large group of Sorston people.
She could see Hanta in the crowd, so she made her way to him, her right hand slightly hiding behind her back in case she had to grab her pistol. When she stood by him, she noticed the way his expression was terrified. She whispered as a man in front talked, his hands yanking a tied up yellow-haired male,  “You know them?”
The male nervously bit his nails, a habit that grew after the farm, “..The one on the floor used to be one of my teachers. He’s a friend to another teacher, a really great friend.”
She noted how badly beat up the male was. His hands were tied, his mouth was duct taped and he was blindfolded, “What the hell did they even do to him?”
Before Hanta could speak, Mirio and Tamaki came back with many crates filled with supplies. Nezu stood in the front, his smile that he shared when he met F/n was no longer there and his tone was laced with no emotion, “You got your things, Tomura, so let Hizashi go.”
It seemed that Nezu's comment was funny to Tomura as he grinned. His pistol in hand waved to one of his men, “Dabi, check it. Make sure there isn’t anything missing.”
His companion rolled his eyes as he removed himself from the truck and slowly made his way to the crates. He boredly looked at it before glancing back at his leader, “There’s no guns.”
The statement had caused Mirio and Tamaki to tense up, the crowd behind as well. However, Nezu made sure to keep his composure as he placed his hand behind his back, looking at the male, “That is my fault. I will make sure my people will bring you your supplies.”
Sharing a look with Mirio and Tamaki, they quickly nodded and headed back to the weaponry shack. They made sure to hurry as they didn’t want another friend or another person to die. But as Tomura watched them leave, something irked him as he glanced back at Nezu, “You know, Nezu..I feel like you aren’t taking me seriously.”
“I will have your stuff in a second.” His heart beating faster as he knew where this was heading, “No one has to die.”
“Seems to me like someone has to.” He then cocked his gun to Hizashi’s head, firmly pressing it so that the beat up male knows what's to come next, “This is the second time you’re late with my shit and I’ve been real nice about it the first time. But I’m starting to not like it.”
The action startled the crowd as some had to look away covering the mouths from maybe letting out a gasp or a scream. When Hanta noticed from the corner of his eyes that F/n’s hand was behind her back, he quickly grabbed her arm before she could do anything. He whispered as he continued to look ahead, “Don’t be stupid. You’ll get us all killed.”
“Wasn’t planning on doing anything.” She whispered back, “Just need to know when to protect me and you.”
She wondered where Shoto was as he was the only one still inside the walls. Katsuki and Izuku had gone for a run a few hours ago in a city that was a bit far, so they wouldn’t return until sundown. Maybe the garden needed extra help. Her thoughts however were answered as a hand had touched her shoulder.
She glanced, her brows narrowing at the feeling of being touched, but when she saw Shoto breathing heavily from running, her brows relaxed. She looked back ahead when he made no intention to talk to her. She hadn’t noticed the way his eyes had widened.
When Tomura had placed the safety off, Mirio and Tamaki came back with a utility cart filled with rifles and ammos. They had run out of breath as they hesitantly placed it near Dabi’s frame. Though the raven-haired male was too busy looking at his little brother, a swarming of emotions filled his body. He had to quickly play it off.
“Dabi, check it again.” He said, already feeling bored.
Again he checked, his eyes briefly glancing at Shoto before looking at the assault rifles, “Where’s the AR-15?”
“Uh, oh.” Toga said as she had a grin and played with her knife, ready for Tomura’s commands.
“You know finding weapons is extremely hard these days, Tomura.” Nezu said, trying hard to defend his people, or more specifically Kyoka as she’s mainly in charge when it came to looking for weapons, “The team had to venture out farther from here and they barely made it back. Please, take what you have and leave Hizashi.”
“Hmm.” Tomura took in a deep breath, his grin widening as he stared at the man in charge of Sorston, egging him. A minute of silence went by, until he firmly pressed the gun to Hizashi’s head. A shot was heard and a thud soon followed.
Shrieks and gasps were heard when Hizashi’s corpse fell to the ground. Nezu had to close his eyes as some blood had gone on his dress shoes and jeans. He swallowed harshly when he opened his eyes and avoided his fallen comrade. He stared at Tomura, keeping his composure, “Take your supplies. We’ll see you again next week.”
Tomura slowly began to shake his head, his face forming from a grin to a snarl as he stared at Nezu. He walked over Hizashi’s body and came close to Nezu, his tone laced with venom, “Goddammit! What does it take for you to lose! Huh!?”
The male then began to scratch his neck, looking around at the crowd for a moment and when his eyes stopped at someone, his hands fell back to his side. How odd was it for Dabi to look like Shoto? He remembered when the raven male—or at that time white-haired male, was taken, one of his men had mentioned a younger brother.
He made sure that Shoto knew he was looking at him and the action didn’t go unnoticed by those near him, especially F/n and Hanta. For now, Tomura would leave the younger male in the community for a while. At least until Sorston decides to take action.
His grin returned as he leaned back, his eyes staring at Nezu. His time here was done for the day. He clapped his hand as he made his way back to the truck, passing by Toga, “Kill someone.”
With a jump on her feet, she quickly flung her knife to her left. When her knife successfully wedged itself to Kyoka’s head, she jumped in joy, a blush and grin coating her face, “Yay! I landed it! Did you see that Spinner!? Mr. Compress!? Dabi!?”
While the crowd gasped and shrieked again, Gunhead was able to catch Kyoka’s corpse as he stood behind her. He shakily closed her eyes, uttering a small prayer as a sigh came from his lips. Another dear friend has fallen.
“See you next week, Nezu!” Tomura said as he slammed the passenger door closed and his underlings joined after him.
The crowd could only shed a few tears, watching as some placed their jackets on Kyoka and Hizashi’s body so that no one else had to see their state.
Once again, Nezu has failed his community. The two bodies below him were his mistake and he was going to make sure that only he felt guilty since he was the key to their deaths. He could already imagine Shota and Denki's devastating faces.
“Nezu…” Yawara placed his hand on his shoulder, “Bury…or burn?”
The white-haired male took a deep breath in and looked at Yawara, Gunhead and Tsuchikawa, “We bury. We don’t burn our people. Make sure to not drop them and grab a few hands if you need help.”
“I’ll grab the shovels.” One of the Sorston’s people said and quickly headed to the farm.
“Understood.” The three then followed after the other one. It was a depressing loss. They could only imagine what Shota, Toshinori and Denki would feel knowing that they have lost someone dear to them.

She wasn’t sure where Hanta was at, so when she spotted Denki talking to Kyoka as they rolled the supplies that she and her friends had brought, she interrupted them, looking at the male, “Have you seen Hanta?”
“Oh, Hanta?” Denki thought for a moment, looking at the sky, “I think…he’s in his house?”
Kyoka let out a sigh and looked at the girl, “He’s in the workhouse next to Mei. He’s supposed to bring you supplies for your home. I’m Kyoka by the way.”
F/n eyed her hand before shaking it, “I’m F/n. Thank’s.”
Kyoka let out a hum and watched as the girl left for Hanta. She then looked back at Denki as he continued their conversation and made their way towards the food house, rolling their utility carts that were filled with boxes of supplies.
She hurriedly made her way towards her cousin, ignoring those that waved at her and tried to talk to her. She knows it’s rude, but she didn’t have time to be friendly with people she’s never going to see again and meeting them was the least of her problems.
After finding the workhouse and seeing that the garage was open with Hanta filling stuff in a woven basket, she had let her eyes wander. They did have a good amount of stash, but how long will that last with how many people are inside the community? Plus adding the bandits that she overheard.
“This where you’ve been all day?” She asked as Hanta placed dish soap in the basket.
“Yeah, pretty much.” Hanta said, making eye contact, “This is my job. I’m not sure if Mr. Nezu explained about the work assignments.”
“He did.” She nodded and then crossed her arms, leaning on her legs. She looked at the male, seeing how well he was doing made her feel relieved, “How long have you been here?”
“Four months. Toshinori and Shota found me not too far away from here.” He said, though he had to look away and let out an internal sigh, feeling like there was something important to discuss, “...F/n…your paren-”
“I know.” She said, shrugging, “I didn’t expect them to make it out. I saw my mom, my sister and my grandmother dying.” She then gave him a sorrowful look, “...Then I saw your mother.”
His fingers clenched around the woven basket as he tried to control his tears, “I know, I saw her after I…after I put down your father.”
She had to let out a chuckle, rolling her eyes as well as feeling disappointed,  “Let me guess, he told you to shoot him?”
“That’s not funny, F/n.” He gave her a slight glare, but his expression then softened, understanding that she had a concerning way of grieving. There were still nights where his mind kept him up from dreaming of that day.
After he found his uncle, F/n’s father,  and helped guide him out of the farm to a road nearby, his uncle had shoved his gun at his chest and crumbled to his knees where he then showed the boy his bite on his calves, asking—pleading to put him at rest.
It angered Hanta as he looked at his uncle. How could someone so strong break so easily? He never even asked about his children or his wife or his parents, only asking for death. But he also understood as he shakily held his gun and aimed it at his head, hesitantly pulling the trigger. His uncle wouldn’t live long and he didn’t want to continue walking on earth as a corpse and be the thing he hates.
“I did try to look for you.” He said grabbing laundry soap, trying to forget about his uncle, “I couldn’t go back to the farm since it was still overrun when I tried to. I even tried to track your footsteps, but I couldn’t find anything. Not a sign that you were ever there. Then I realized that I was behind the farm, you must’ve gone to the main road.”
“I tried to look for you that night too. I walked up the road until I fell from exhaustion. Then I came across Izuku.” She felt bad that she didn’t try hard enough to look for him just like he did, “I didn’t really know if I’d ever see you again or if you were even alive. All I hoped was that you were fine and you were surviving better than I was and my hopes were right since you’re here within these walls.”
Before he could say something, her expression changed, “But now that I’m here, we can’t stay.”
His brows furrowed, “What do you mean?”
“I mea-” She stopped as she heard footsteps approaching.
“There you are!” Hanta and F/n looked to see Ochaco. She glanced at F/n, giving her a smile, “I’m Ochaco, you must be F/n, right? Eijiro told me that I should introduce myself but I couldn’t seem to find you.”
F/n gave her  a look before nodding before shaking her hand, “Yeah, I’m F/n.”
The brown-haired girl then turned to Hanta, holding the woven basket, “If you want I can take those and let you two catch up.”
“Are you sure?” He said as he handed her the basket, “I could take it after.”
“No need!” She said and held it, “I wanted to see Izuku anyways and the others of course.”
Right, Hanta had forgotten about their romance. He gave her a cheeky smile, “Alright, alright. I’ll let you take it.”
She let out a blush and quickly went her way with the two cousins watching as she left. Despite F/n wanting to ask what that was about, she had important matters on her hand as she presumed her conversation, “I mean with what's going on about another group taking the community's supplies.”
He let out a sigh, already knowing where this was heading as he leaned on a rack, “Mr. Nezu has that in control.”
“Does he?” She scoffed and pointed behind her, “Because what I heard and what I’m seeing, he doesn’t have shit under control.”
He placed his hand on his nape, “Ye-”
“No, Hanta.” She gave him a glare, “We can’t stay here. It’s not safe.”
This time he scoffed, “Do you know how long this place has been standing? Do you?” When she didn’t respond he continued, “For months, since this whole thing started. It wasn’t started by amateurs, F/n, it was started by some type of military. It’s been relocated once, but it's still standing and these bandits that you’ve heard of, they not only take stuff from us but they also protect us.”
“So they take almost ninety percent of your shit, in exchange for them doing shitty protection?” She scoffed, one upping him as she pointed at his chest, “This community is full of shit. Where are these so-called militaries that you mentioned? Because I haven’t seen a single one! You said it yourself, Hanta, it’s been relocated once but don’t think that this place won't fall again.
“So pack your shit cause we are not staying.” As much as Hanta wanted to protest, he had to respect her, she is older than him by a couple months and she’s done so much for him. It’s true that they’d be able to hold out with just the two of them, but there is so little outside Sortson.
Even F/n knows it, but she’d rather take her chances than possibly fight a war with people who have no experience on holding guns or even protecting themselves.
“It’s started to get cold.” He said, his eyes never leaving his cousins. He has a choice. If he had to match the same energy as her in order to convince her then so be it. He isn’t a little kid anymore, he couldn’t easily be controlled by her anymore, “We are staying. If you want to go out there and die, then do it.”
She slightly tilted her head as she looked at him, her glare hardening, “Wha-”
“You may be thinking that you’re only doing the best for me, but you’re not. You can stop being on edge all the time. I don’t always need you to protect me.” He said as he walked away, no longer wanting to continue the conversation as he could feel the anger radiate from her.
She had to control herself from flipping out as she let out a frustrated sigh when she no longer saw his form. She had placed her hand on her hip while the other one was formed into a fist, covering her mouth as she thought, but as every scenario she thought of came out with the same conclusion, Hanta was right and it deeply bothered her.
It didn’t anger her, she was just bothered that she felt guilty for making him upset. And the fact that he didn’t need her protection made her feel sad. He no longer needed her anymore.
When the front door was knocked on, Izuku turned the stove too low and quickly went to open it as he thought that F/n might have forgotten the key. But when he opened it and saw Ochaco he kind of felt disappointed.
The girl smiled as she entered his home and headed to the kitchen where she dropped the basket, “I wasn’t sure if you were home or if Mr. Nezu had already given you a work assignment.”
“No, not yet.” He said as he watched her shift in her spot, “What do you do?”
“Sometimes I help out with Gunhead, but for the majority I go out looking for medical supplies with Mezo and Fumikage.” She said as she smiled again, “If you want, I can request to put you in with me.”
He didn’t want to be mean and say no. He was thinking of working in the weaponry and gather information about guns and their parts and their designated ammo. With F/n also working there, she’d be able to help him out plenty. He also saw a couple magazines there.
“So?” She said, “What do you think?”
As much as he wanted to say no, he had to mentally say goodbye to the weaponry, “Yeah, that’ll work.”
He didn’t think he'd ever see her smile so big again, at least it’s been several months since he has seen her. He was a bit startled when she grabbed his hands and looked him in the eyes. “It really has been so long since I’ve seen you. I was honestly starting to forget your face.”
“Oh, Ochaco…” He wasn’t sure what to say as her cheeks grew even pinker. How is he supposed to tell her that he doesn’t feel anything for her anymore? He doesn't want to string her along, but he also doesn’t want to upset her, “Ochaco…I-”
The front door opened and closed with F/n entering. She glanced to her side as when she noticed she wasn’t alone, “Hey.”
Izuku quickly removed his hands, placing them behind his back. He gave her a smile, “You’re back.”
“Yeah…” She said and then headed back outside to give them space. Did she ruin their moment?
So it was like that. As much as Ochaco loved Izuku, she really didn’t have the energy nor courage to continue fighting for the male. In all honesty, she was tired of the chase and the unspoken feelings. It would be different if they were still in high school. If he wanted to be with someone else, then who is she to stop him?
She wouldn’t blame him for finding someone else, even if she’s waited all these months for him, unknowing if he was even alive. Her heart may have shattered, but it wouldn’t be the first time. She glanced at him, her eyes then casting down as she pointed to the door, “I’ll leave now. I’ll talk to Nezu about the job assignments.”
He should've said something as he could feel her sadness and have her realize that she doesn’t mean anything to him, but instead he watched her walk away, leaving his sight.
“Where the hell you’ve been?” Katsuki said as he approached the front porch, looking at F/n as she sat on a chair.
“I could be asking you the same question.” She said, eyeing the people happily walking by.
He let out a grunt as he sat on the chair next to her, his scowl relaxing, “Was talking about the job assignments to Nezu.”
“Oh, yeah?” She eyed the orange hue sky as the sun was beginning to set down, “Let me guess, scavenging for supplies with Eijiro and Denki.”
He was kind of shocked at how she figured it out. Was he that easy to read? “You stalking me or sum?”
“You’re kind of predictable. I get the feeling that you like being outside. You think you know everything about protecting yourself and whatnot because of me, but you really don’t. You’ll die out there without me.” She shrugged, failing to notice him glaring at her, “I mean don’t get me wrong, you got the basics written down, but really, who’s going to save your ass when you get into trouble again? Eijiro? Denki? Maybe the squirrels running around?”
“What the fuck is wrong with you!?” He quickly stood up, his brows furrowed as he looked down to the sitting girl. Usually he wouldn’t had let the comment get to his head, but of course, his feelings had to get in the way.
“What?” She eyed him, not understanding why he had gotten upset.
“Didn't realize that you could be a cold hearted bitch.” He spitted out, heading to go inside the house, but he was stopped as she grabbed his hand.
She was only being honest, but the hurt look made her feel guilty, “Sorry, okay? I was just joking. People..tend to tell me I have some dark twisted humor.”
She really didn’t have any humor, but anything to make him feel better, right? She kind of wanted to roll her eyes, what the hell is she even doing? Maybe being in the community is making her act strange.
He scoffed at her, wanting to yell his head out, but her grip had tightened for a short moment, causing his cheeks to redden. He made no effort to move. At least she apologized, right? CUrse him and his stupid fluttering stomach, “Whatever, s’not like I give a damn.”
She wanted to let out a chuckle at his behavior, but she refrained from doing so, not wanting to upset him any further. She then let his hands go, much to his dismay, as she heard footsteps behind her. The sight of Hanta, had Katsuki going inside the home, leaving the girl alone, but now without giving her a spare glance.
She pursed her lips as her cousin stood in front of her. He didn’t say anything and expected her to be the bigger person and apologize to him. She took his crestfallen face as a signal to speak, “Sorry.”
She continued, swallowing the fact they aren’t going anywhere, which she didn’t like, “You want to stay, then I’ll stay and if you want to go then we’ll go together. I don’t want to be separated after we just found each other. Your family, the only one I still have left, so I’m not going anywhere without you.
“We may be cousins, but I see you as my little brother. I don’t want anything bad to happen to you, so if you want to stay and fight for this community then so will I. I can’t get separated from you again, Hanta.” She let out a small smile, “Whatever happens, we’ll stick together. Forever.”
He smiled as he quickly pulled her in for a hug, “I forgive you. You can be real sappy with your apologies, y’know?”
She scoffed as they both let go, “Well have that engraved in your memory cause this is the last time I’ll ever be apologizing.”
“Yeah, right.” He playfully rolled his eyes.
The door behind her opened. Izuku smiled at them both, “Dinners ready. I made enough, I had a feeling you would come.”
F/n shoved Hanta inside, “C’mon, I’m hungry.”
He let out a pained chuckle, “Ow. You really have gotten strong.”
She let out a laugh as they sat down in the kitchen with Izuku handing out their plates. It smelled good and the house felt warm, unlike her home that was cold and had no life. This place felt like an actual home, one where she belonged. She couldn’t contain her smile as she watched Hanta, Katsuki, Shoto, and Izuku all laugh as they shared some old memories. As long as she was by their side, she would forever be home.

After Nezu walked them back to the entrance, they were soon guided by Mirio and Nejire to a house that was a little farther from where they first entered. Like the other house, the two story house was white with a brown roof and a porch that shielded them from the sun.
“This is where you’re staying.” Mirio opened the door, “It’s got four bedrooms, a master with a bathroom, a bathroom downstairs, kitchen and living room. You also have a washer and dryer, so pretty neat. Right guys?”
“And if you need laundry soap, the shop next to Mei’s will have some.” Nejiro then grabbed the keys from Mirio and handed it to Izuku, “And if you need anything, don’t be shy to ask! We’re all a family!”
“Thanks.” Izuku smiled as he held the keys. Mirio and Nejire then left, leaving the four to enter their house. It was spacious and they were glad that it already had a kitchen table, sofas, entertainment, TV’s even though there's no signal and beds. As for the bathroom, it had toilet paper, shampoo and other essentials.
“So, who’s taking the master bedroom?” Shoto asked as they looked at the room. The queen size bed looked comfortable.
“I am!” Katsuki said as he jumped on it, “You three losers can take the other small ass rooms.”
“Alright.” Izuku chuckled as he moved to the room next door. The bed wasn’t a queen, but the full size will do. He took his bag off as he looked around. He couldn’t believe that they finally made it.
It all seemed like a dream when they first saw it, but to even be here, in a room with a roof over their heads, it sounded too good to be true. They were going to do whatever it takes to have their spot.
Izuku then remembered, he saw Ochaco and to him, she didn’t look to be doing good. She was still pretty as he always remembered, but her dark eyebags let him know that she too was suffering. He then thought back to F/n as he opened the drawer dresser. It felt wrong just to think about Ochaco and F/n.
He had a crush on her back in high school but over the months and since he’s met F/n, he’s lost his feelings over the brown-haired girl. He and Ochaco never dated, but they both knew the feelings that they had for each other, but with F/n, it was different.
He knows he likes her, feels the same way he did with Ochaco, and wants to be with her. But she doesn’t know that he feels that way about her. It was troubling for him, because he wants F/n to know that he is romantically interested in her, yet, something about her makes him feel incredibly shy.
And it didn’t help that Shoto and Katsuki were also after her. He’s a smart man. He’s been friends with the blonde since they were kids so he practically knows everything about him and with Shoto, the boy is more out of his shell when he’s around her. Their stares also gave it away.
Izuku hopes that now that they are in Sortson, they’ll have eyes for other girls and leave F/n to him. Yes, it may be selfish and unfair, but he was the one to rescue her, the first to meet her and spend a month with until Katsuki came along.
And that brought his attention back to Ochaco. What is he to do with her? Surely she still hasn’t had feelings for him, right?
In the downstairs bathroom, F/n stared at herself in the mirror. She looked different. Her hair has gotten longer and with the scratches on her face as well as the scar on her ear, she looked  nothing like she did seven months ago.
Her eye bags almost reminded her of her best friend, Hitoshi. She wondered if he was here as well. She would have to ask Hanta about him, but for now as she held scissors in her hand, she had to do something about that hair.
She had previously taken her shirt off, leaving her in a bra and jeans. She didn’t want her hairs to be stuck on her shirt as she began to cut. Her hair snipping was oddly satisfying as she continued. She made sure not to cut off too much and revert back to her normal hairstyle.
When all was done, she placed her scissors back and once again looked at herself. She was still different. She looked like her father.
She removed herself and proceeded to take off all her clothes and head into the shower where she let the warm water hit her face. All the dirt, blood and sweat surrounded her feet before going down the drain. She also noticed her nails had gotten bigger and she would take care of that after.
It felt good to finally shower and be clean.
He could hear the shower from his room. From his bed, Katsuki could hear the shower running as he stared at the ceiling. He needed a shower, but for now, he just wanted to relax as his feet and back were aching.
He could also hear Izuku rummaging in the next room, but he ignored him and continued to listen to the running water and let his mind wander. Would it be weird to live with F/n? He’s already lived with Izuku and Shoto, so he didn’t really care about them, but with F/n, he’s never lived with her.
Sure, they spent several months together, but they were on the run and were never inside a home. Speaking of being on the run, he would hate to admit it, but he likes sleeping next to the girl. Maybe he was going crazy, but she kind of lent out some warmth during the cold nights. And sleeping next to her made him feel safe.
He often thought back to the night of the RV, during a storm. He had fallen asleep for a short while until he woke up. Her soft breaths hitting his neck comforted him as he could feel her hand on his back, laying there. He remembered how warm her fingers felt as it touched part of his exposed skin.
He liked the feeling of her hands on his body and no, it wasn’t a perverted thought, it was just comforting. He hasn’t been held like that since he was a kid, already forgetting the way his mother and father would sleep next to him after he’s had a nightmare.
With F/n, everything felt so right. To be touched by her again would be a miracle as he had an inkling that she might hate the touch of another person. With Hanta, it was different since he was family, but he couldn’t lie that at the moment when they both hugged, he almost envisioned himself hugging her.
God, what was he thinking? He groaned as he rolled to his side. There is no way he could possibly be falling for her right? No, what Eijiro said was just getting to him. He’s only feeling like this because he’s never come across a woman in months.
His heart is just being silly. He needs a long shower.
Shoto sat in the living room with a book in hand. The book was boring, he didn’t even know what it was about as he flipped to the middle page, waiting for F/n’s to come out so he could shower. She is taking an awful amount of time, but he didn’t mind, the day is still young.
He couldn’t help but to think back to Hanta, when they first hugged. It was the first time he’s seen her cry. He doesn’t remember her crying when he shot Izuku. Everything then was a blur.
But now that she’s found Hanta, what is she going to do? She may have never  mentioned it, but from seeing how she reacted when she saw Hanta, the whole reason for coming was because of him, so now that they found each other, what are they going to do?
Surely, she’s not going to leave, right? After everything he’s told her, she wouldn’t just get up and leave. He meant it all, she knows how to defend herself she really doesn’t need anybody, but to see her leave, to see her walk out of those gates and never see her face or hear her voice…felt painful to think about.
He’s come to like the girl, like everything about her. He might have been hostile towards her at the beginning, but he was doing it to defend himself and she knew it too. Heck, she even told him to shoot!
She was undoubtedly cool to him, but when she told him about why she is the way she is, or in her words, the way she is wired, it made him feel upset. He often thought about her and if she was raised differently. Would she still be cool? Would she still be able to defend herself and be good at everything?
Or would she be a scared girl, not knowing what to do and die at the very second she spots a rotter? And another thing he liked to think about. What if they met back in high school? Would he have swooned her with his charming look?
She has told him that he was pleasing to look at, so that meant that she found him at least attractive, right? He knows all the other girls in U.A practically flocked at him and would leave many love confessions and heart chocolates shapes in his locker, but would F/n do that if they met.
To think she might have left one for him was far stretched, but he did like to think about it.
The door to the restroom opened and out came F/n. Shoto peered his head over, his eyes slightly widening at how different she looked, “..You cut your hair.”
She shrugged, “Only a little. I wanted to have my old hairstyle back.”
He hummed as he got up and headed to the bathroom, but not before letting out a comment, “You look good.”
“Th…thanks.” She said as she watched him close the door. She had to roll her eyes at the way her stomach kept bugging her. She had to tell herself that she was hungry and nothing more.
When she entered her room, she grabbed a shirt and placed it over her tank shop. She then looked at the small mirror that was right by the door. Yeah, she did look good.
“Oh, wow.” Izuku muttered out as he looked at her, his heart fluttering, “You cut your hair. You look like when I first met you.”
“Wanted to feel the same.” She said and glanced at him.
He smiled as he leaned on the doorframe, “I was thinking of making dinner tonight. I’m not sure what you like to eat, so I wanted to hear what you might want. Kacchan likes spicy foods and Shoto likes Soba. What do you like?”
“Katsudon,” F/n then shrugged, “but I’m fine with anything, not really a picky eater.”
Something they have in common! Izuku grinned, “I like Katsudon too! Are you fine with eating that tonight?”
“Yeah, sure.” She said as she grabbed her jacket, “Whatever floats your boat.”
He let out a happy hum, “I’ll get that started after I shower, okay?”
When she nodded he left downstairs, probably to wait for Shoto to get out. She watched him until his form left and set down her jacket and once again looked in the mirror. She turned so that her back was facing the mirror and slightly lifted her shirt to where she could see her scar on her lower back.
Since it healed, sometimes the scar would be itchy or feel like a pinch. It was bothersome, as it would happen at random times. The scar wasn’t bad, it was a small deformed, pale circle. She was just glad that the nail wasn’t rusty or had rotter blood, otherwise she wouldn’t be here today.
“What are you doing?” Katsuki asked as he entered her room, glancing at her scar. He noticed her hair was shorter but didn’t say anything, though he couldn’t help to think that she looked attractive.
“Nothing.” She said as he let her shirt fall and grabbed her jacket again. She noticed that he too cut his hair, his hair a bit short yet still spikier. She then watched as Katsuki closed the door, her eyes squinting in suspicion, “What are you doing?”
He stayed quiet for a moment, his eyes lowing to the ground until he finally looked at her. Maybe she was seeing things, but there was a faint blush on his cheeks, “I wanted to say…thank you.”
She raised her brows, “Thank you? For what?”
He grunted as he looked to the side, “For that day when you “saved” me.”
She sat down on her bed, “I have no idea what you're talking about.”
He glared at her, “You know what I’m talking about!”
“I literally don’t.” She isn’t lying, well maybe a little. She has saved him plenty of times, so which one is he talking about? And also, she liked teasing him.
“That day back in the neighborhood. When the house was burning and I…tripped and the damn guy almost shot me.” He glared at her, “You know what I’m talking about.”
“Ah.” F/n then said looking to the ceiling, “Yeah, I remember. But that was so long ago, why are you thanking me now?”
He watched as she stood up and placed her shoes, his face feeling hot. Why is he thanking her? He really didn’t need to, so why now? That made him feel embarrassed as he opened the door, not noticing Shoto walk to his room, “Don’t think I feel obligated to do that because I don't! I’m doing it for myself!”
She watched him storm off to his room, “Okay, thanks.”
She then proceeded to leave the house and look for Hanta. She had to have a serious talk with him before things were decided. He may trust this community, but she hasn’t.
