Ft.jack howl
Tumblr media
Summary: I talk about little things in life and about a piano sing I heared near the end is where the vil and jack part comes in^^
Notes:idk what vils story had to do with mine but okay
Psst! Hey this includes child vil and jack!!
Tumblr media
Yako
[2:06 am–3:02am]
I have yet to discover the little things in life.....That was until I discovered that one when doing the most random and unimportant things, can create life itself.
Let me explain; I was straighting my hair that started at 12am,listening to my phone play blissful tunes it was simple songs and I would frown in my mirror every-so-often thinking to my self 'why was I so foolish to do such a thing' but then a certain piano song comes on.
Chopin - Nocturne op.9 No.2
I often think back to a youtube video I saw it had Van Goghs 'starry night painting' yet Chopin was playing?, I decided that I would like to know what was the reason of this, I opened the description only to meet a beautiful description on why the creator did that.
"Vincent van Gogh painted The Starry Night one year before dying. Chopin composed his popular Nocturne when he was about twenty. it does not matter if you think that it is too late for you or that you still have a lot of time...you have to decide whether you are Chopin or van Gogh."
It made my heart go ablaze but not in a scalding way, but the same way one feels when taking a hot bath after being in the snow all day.It felt comforting in such a sweet way that made me think bback to my younger years, years that I can no longer have due to me already living them.
All of this started when I decided to straighten my hair, if I didn't decide to do it then I would have never gotten to experience that moment; perhaps it was merely chance that Chopin played?
I remember how my fingers paced against the piano, letting the feeling of its vibrations fall by my ears like how Ludwig van Beethoven felt when it hit his; I always found it strange how he could create such beautiful music with out hearing it himself. But that's probably what made him so special, he both composed and played music without a sense so important.
Vil
Do you think vil played piano?
How his fingers praced against the keys letting out blissful tunes, with a wolf boy listening to the tunes aswell. The room filled with evening warmth and light, letting the wolf and beautiful boy bask in it only letting the noise of the piano fill their ears; not even minding the noise of other children playing outside the big window.
The beautiful boy didn't take time to cry "wolf!" For vil knew that wolf didn't want harm, it wanted to protect the sheep in the pin not lead them to a untimely end.The wolf didn't intend to blow the three pigs house down, he was upset and scared so that was they only thing he thought to do,He didn't want to harm the little pigs.
That wolf was merely a fierce sheep taking on responsibility as the wolf since nobody wanted to be the wolf, vil opens his eyes looking at that quote on quote 'big bad wolf' to see that the wolf was tired;eyes that mimick bronze rest elegantly on his face with long lashes almost covering them, eyes that droop and lay half lidded flickering open at times."you are not falling asleep are you?" A hums leaves vil as he says that, his fingers still prancing upon the keys. The wolf boy eyes open a bit to ungraceful for vils taste, Jack takes times to remember his surroundings before looking at the stunning boy."No....well kinda? Certain piano songs makes my tired, it's not because I'm bored promise." Vil hums acknowledging his words, letting his fingers resume playing once more."Yes I'm aware, you would have told me if you're bored" Jack sits up and beckons vil to continue playing this time with Jack's full attattent.Vil was gonna do that even if Jack was gonna sleep, but he will humor him this one time.

A love letter to TsukuTabe
Tumblr media
I loved the first season of this drama, but this second season (really more of a straightforward continuation of the first season narrative, which ended unfinished) is a remarkable glow up for an already strong show. These creators did not come to play, and they had a lot to say about the experiences of women living in patriarchal cultures.
Tumblr media
This drama tackled so many experiences that afab people go through as they try to build a life for themselves under pressure to conform to societal norms. We have so many different lived experiences of women in this show, all of whom are queer by way of falling outside the lines of what is expected of them:
Nomoto, who experiences a queer awakening, wrestles with the specifics of her sexual identity, and bravely forges ahead despite feeling pressure from her family to marry a man and procreate
Kasuga, who breaks with her family's expectations that she be a caretaker and insists on living her own life, even if she knows the culture she lives in will sometimes make it hard
Yako, who owns her asexual and lesbian identities, proudly forges a life for herself, builds community for herself and others, and advocates for that community both publicly and privately
Nagumo, who struggles to connect with others because of her eating disorder and mental health struggles and lives a solitary existence as a result, but through building bonds with other women finds the strength to begin healing
Sayama, who pushes herself to date around because she feels pressure to live up to expectations to marry, before reconsidering whether that is a goal she actually has for her life and realizing she is happy being unmarried
Fujita, who struggles through years of an unhappy marriage in which she is subjugated to her husband's family before breaking free and pursuing a divorce so she can live happily on her own
Tumblr media
It means a lot to me to see a show that cares so deeply about these women and their stories, that gives them so much space to explore and think and communicate their feelings. And they do it all so naturally, by allowing them to form bonds with one another and figure out who they are and what they want through their relationships with each other. This story is all about how we can grow through kindness and compassion from others, and how important it is to pay that support back in kind. It's such a beautiful and unique and desperately needed message in the current media landscape.
Tumblr media
And there's more story yet to tell! I have no idea if they will get a third season, but I will be seated for as much of this story as the creators want to make. I would love to see them tackle Nomoto and Kasuga's life as a committed couple, their coming out to their families, and the ongoing lives of the community of queer women around them, which will only continue to broaden and deepen. Like What Did You Eat Yesterday? this show could go on and on forever, and I hope it does. I have so much gratitude for all the people involved in making this show, and to @furritsubs for translating the English subtitles so that international fans could also enjoy it. And if you're seeing this and haven't watched it yet, I am telling you, it is so worth your time.

Goodbye and thanks for all the love 。o○♡
So here we are. After five fantastic weeks, it's time to say goodbye to Nomoto, Kasuga, Yako and Nagumo. I miss them already, even though I don't think any of them will truly leave me for a good, long while.
Tumblr media
This show is just beautiful. It may seem unassuming, quiet and more leisurely than a lot of other shows but it's worth the watch. I can only recommend it - I said it before, but do yourself this favor. I think everyone can find something healing and comforting in this story of gentle, caring people being kind to each other. In the messages it shares with you with a tenderness and reassurance that made me soft.
Watch the show for how it tells you that not following the expected path society and family have for you may come with struggles but it's still worth it, that you need to go after your happiness and that there will be people here for you through it. That it's never too late to do those things that will make you happy.
For the way it gently takes your hand and tells you that yes, there are challenges, and hard times, and difficult emotions, and pain, but that there is kindness and there is love, too - and that will help. For how it reminds you that you have to be a little selfish to sustain love, be it platonic or romantic, accepting help and voicing your need and reaching out to hang out. And yet, that you are not a burden. That the people who love you want to spend time with you, to do things you will love, to cook for you and share a meal.
Watch it for so many more reason, because I honestly think everyone will find something in there that resonate with them and their experience, that may even help them feel seen.
On a more personal note, as someone who lives far away from their family and doesn't have a lot of people around them IRL (let alone other queer people), it felt so healing to see Nomoto and Kasuga, who are about my age, have those realizations a little later in life, and find those connections anyway. To follow Nomoto discovering herself and to see her be assured that there is not right or wrong way to be who she is and that she knows what label fits her. To see Kasuga slowly opening herself to new experiences. To watch them fall in love and make new friends and build their life and their family the way that makes them happy and fulfilled. All of this brought me such comfort and gave me so much hope that things will be ok.
Tumblr media
So goodbye ladies, but hopefully not farewell. I hope we get to see more of you, of your little family and your friends, of that new start we are ending this part of the story on. Thank you @furritsubs for making this available to those of us who don't speak Japanese (and for all the little cultural and culinary notes along the way, they truly enhanced the experience!~♡).
And to the show itself and everyone who made it... Thank you for those stories, thank you for the kindness with which everyone is treated, thank you for the warmth, the gentleness, the ever present love.
And most of all, thank you for the hope.

A very long post about JSHK
Tumblr media
I'm going to include a few photos so that it doesn't end up being 3 times longer than it should be hahaha, I'm going to rely on your memory on this one.
Then I had a sudden epiphany, and I've been thinking about JSHK's main timeline. You know, a summary of how the main story (without the branches) is developing.
If I were to summarize the story I would say it goes like this:
"An ordinary school with a tendency towards supernatural events and home to 7 mysteries. Each mystery protects a passage and each of them has two stories. One false (rumored) and one true. If you can uncover all the true stories, something will happen."
At the moment, there are only 3 stories left to be discovered, mystery number 1, number 3 and number 7. Considering that Hanako is one of the protagonists, he will probably be the last (even if it is not certain).
Now, we're in arc number 1, he seems to have a direct connection with the twins, especially Tsukasa, and that's who I want to talk about. Come with me and see how this boy's genius works.
So it doesn't get too long, I'll summarize.
Yashiro starts the story by invoking Hanako, Yashiro later reveals that the person who spoke about Hanako's rumor was Aoi, and we know that all the rumors she hears are from her best friend, so the person who spread the rumor about Hanako was probably Tsukasa (that's a hypothesis)
Tumblr media
After they create the bond, she starts to be able to see the supernatural and becomes a piece on the board. Yousei was the result of a change in mokke rumors, his story served to show us how even creatures as cute as mokkes can turn into something monstrous like that. Remember that the one spreading the rumors is Tsukasa.
Tumblr media
Tsukasa hand hahaha
After that, we have the arc of number 2. First we have the false story, what the rumors were talking about and Yako transformed into a new person, even though her essence is still there. His story came to further reinforce the power of rumors regarding the supernatural (whether mysteries or not) and how yorishiros, those who keep the true story, work. Remembering once again that the one who is spreading the rumors is Tsukasa.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Let's go ahead, right after the arch in number 2, we have the confession tree. A rumor that Aoi told Yashiro. This tree was extraordinarily peculiar because it didn't fit well into any context that linked to the main story, my mistake. Because it was because of this tree that Hanako made the false confession, Yashiro cried, and he apologized to her. Okay, but how does this fit in? It turns out that Hanako's gesture caught Yashiro's attention and made her interested in Hanako's past. Remembering once again that the one who is spreading the rumors is Tsukasa.
Tumblr media
We have the exorcists arc, this arc talks more about Kou's development and the way he and Teru judge supernaturals. It is worth remembering that this is important in the future so that Kou can or cannot help Hanako, in addition to, of course, arousing distrust in us not only about Teru's attitude, but also how Hanako does not accept his own sin, finding it unjustifiable. (And to show us how underhanded Hanako is)
Tumblr media
So moving forward, while Yashiro goes to the library to research Hanako-san, Sakura is there and talks about the Tsuchigomori library. I don't need to talk about Tsukasa here, right? The arc of number 5, it is simple and without much action, but it is important. In it we learn that you can only change the future in some circumstances and that Tsuchigomori has this ability that can be used at some point. Besides, of course, he lets Nene peek a little into the true story of number 7. This part of his story is important, I don't need to say, it's short but it reveals to us that there was something wrong in Hanako's life.
Tumblr media
We follow Yashiro's dilemma about whether or not to continue alongside the bathroom ghost, when Kou convinces her to continue (do you realize the importance of the exorcists arc now? Kou judged that Hanako wasn't a bad ghost, but became suspicious because of what Teru and Hanako said, so he still didn't know what to think about him) If Kou hadn't had this conversation with her (he invited her to make the donuts with the intention of understanding why Yashiro was distant from Hanako) Yashiro would have left away from Hanako.
She and Hanako have a heart-to-heart on the roof when Tsukasa finally appears. His appearance happened right after Yashiro said that he likes Hanako, this could have several meanings, either because Hanako was falling in love and was failing his duty, or another specific objective of Tsukasa. Sakura had ordered the mokke to put the black crane in the donut bag, meaning Tsukasa already knew this was going to happen and chose to reveal himself at that moment.
Tumblr media
While Hanako was in internal conflict because of Tsukasa's appearance, we entered the mermaid arc. Yashiro is tempted to definitively become a servant of the mermaid and break the bond with Hanako. Something that didn't happen because he heard her conversation with Tsuchigomori. He "fished" her right away. In this arc we see Yashiro and Hanako's relationship evolve, he asks her for patience because he is not ready to talk about his own past, and she accepts. This arc is important so as not to make us think "why doesn't he just say it?" XD The bond of trust between them grows here. We later see that Tsukasa kills one of the fish and the Mermaid starts to fear the world of the living and gives up on Yashiro (at least for now) so the arc also served to show that the mermaid will no longer disturb her.
Tumblr media
So, we meet Mitsuba for the first time. Initially as an ordinary ghost he reveals to us a small part of his past (so that we can quickly empathize with him) then, when he befriends Kou, Tsukasa appears angry and destroys him (he apparently already had this intention) perhaps because Mitsuba had to do something that Tsukasa wants but the "real" Mitsuba wasn't living up to his expectations. And why am I saying this? Mitsuba is a frequent character, he has a connection with the protagonists and has a lot of screen time, in addition to that Tsukasa is always around him, and he was not discarded after being destroyed, that is, he is an important character who will have a key moment in the plot in the future. Knowing this, I imagine that Tsukasa wanted to remake Mitsuba so that he would have no memories and thus not interfere with Tsukasa's plans. (whatever it is)
Tumblr media
Moving on, we go straight to the tea party, where Yashiro was purposely kidnapped by Tsukasa. You already know what the point of this arc was. Tsukasa wanted to send Yashiro nowhere, and she went with Natsuhiko to make sure she went to the right door. Natsuhiko conveniently gets pulled by one of Tsukasa's toys (I already talked about it here and here) so that Nene is alone and goes back to the past to get Amane's key.
Tumblr media
Could Tsukasa have used his Kokujoudai to take her there? He could, but apparently he doesn't use them when he doesn't want to attract Hanako's attention. I don't know if you noticed but… Let me give you an example, when Tsukasa attacked Mitsuba he used the joudais, at the same time Hanako's Hakujoudai alerted him about Tsukasa. So, there may be a connection (it's a hypothesis) Tsukasa didn't want Hanako to get in the way so he didn't send her using the joudais
Following this, we have the first arc of the clock where we meet Mirai and discover that Akane is one of the seven. This arc is important not only for that, but to show us that in the future the school will be destroyed (given its state when Mirai moves a few rooms forward into the future) and that Yashiro will die. Hanako was forced to reveal this. We later see that Hanako realizes that her time is running out and begins to think about possibilities to save her. I've been wondering, who released Mirai from the boundary?
Ahead we have the arc of number 3, the return of Mitsuba. This arc showed us how strong Tsukasa is and that even though he has this strength he is unable to remove Yorishiro's seal. Then we see Mitsuba transform into the new number 3. It's important to know this, it was revealed to us that supernaturals can eat each other to become stronger and that the Mystery Seats can be acquired this way, in addition to of course, we reveal that Tsukasa is happy to see that Yashiro is alive and shows us that he has bigger plans for Mitsuba.
It's worth remembering that in this arc we see Yako talking about how rumors can change the form of the supernatural, but even so they continue to have the same essence as the original. Hanako runs his finger over his own seal, which could mean that he identified himself and that he probably went through this previously.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So let's move on to the festival arc where Yashiro meets young Amane. It wasn't very clear if it was actually a dream or if she managed to return to the past (I imagine it's the second option because Amane writes that he wants to see her in the future and little Tsukasa in the red house says he wants to go to that festival with Amane) Yashiro was probably taken to his past because they were holding hands when she was hit. In this arc we have this small interaction between them, and I imagine that this affected Amane more than Yashiro (since she believed it was a dream) and he changed his initial request, he was to be an astronaut and he wished to see Nene again. In other words, changing the future.
Tumblr media
Moving on, we have the comedic zombie chapter. Initially we have the naive feeling that he doesn't have a direct connection with previous events, but he does. This entire chapter served to show us that Yashiro has a unique ability to purify, she did this to all the students in the school at once. Remembering that in Tsukasa's first appearance she hurts him when she throws the juice (?) from her bottle at him. In other words, as Teru had said, Yashiro is a special girl.
So, after all this fuss is over, let's move on to arc number 4. The perfect world created at Tsukasa's behest. His initial goal (apparently) was to force Yashiro to kill Amane and Kou to kill Mitsuba, but let's face it Tsukasa was just waiting for an opportunity to force a wish on Shijima and for Yashiro to remove her yorishiro. Did you realize that Hanako didn't tell her to remove yorishiro from number 4? Suddenly Tsukasa appears and says that she will fulfill Shijima's wish, and he sends Yashiro along. After all, he managed to get Yashiro to take off the seal and earned payment for the wish. He probably asked Shijima to make those flyers Sakura was wearing at the festival with petals that go into the eye (it's a hypothesis) Tsukasa was doing that while we were focused on how Hanako wanted to save Yashiro's life.
Let's go to the next arc, here we have a dispute between Teru and Akane about who will get the best grade, I don't need to say that he did this to force Akane to do what he wants, right? He asked that if Kou asked him for a favor in the future, he would do it. It means Teru has something in mind.
The arc of number 6… This arc is so long hahaha but it was important to show us about a part of the Minamoto's past (and to show us that they are not as good as they seem) in addition to the life of one of the young women who they were sacrificed in the name of God. Ah, yes of course, this "God". The arc of number 6 has an important connection with the past, about the village, about families, about Kannagis, about how human cruelty can be bigger than that of supernaturals. Furthermore, we clearly see Tsukasa taking advantage of this, as Natsuhiko stayed with Kou while Tsukasa and Sakura planned for Yashiro to remove the seal from number 6. It's worth remembering that they took the opportunity to show Nene what happens when you don't remove the seal, so we have the revelation that Tsukasa is Hanako's yorishiro. So in short, if Yashiro doesn't remove Tsukasa's seal, Hanako will have to destroy him.
Sumire and Hakubo's arc is very important, it reveals important pieces for the future and how things happened in the past. Their relationship reveals to us that the love between a human and a supernatural may not be the way we expect. Because if a supernatural loves a human, his way of showing love is by devouring her? I'm not going to go into depth about this because this post is already too long, the important thing is that you understand the reasoning.
So we have separation. Something planned by Hanako. He apparently made a request to God to grant Yashiro's wish since he needed a sacrifice (Aoi) number 6 was actually performing the ceremony with her (same as in the village). We don't know if that's actually the case, but that's what everything indicates since Hanako doesn't have that power. The most interesting thing during the entire time when the doors of the supernatural were all (almost) closed is how Teru was committed to making everything return to "normal".
Don't you think it's strange that soon he who hates supernaturals was committed to making everything go back to the way it was? Ah, it was because of Aoi…. Tell me, do you honestly believe that Teru likes her? Isn't it a bit…sudden? A silly excuse to distract Akane and the others from revealing what he really wants? Then. Teru makes his art at this moment, which leads us to
Red house, remember that we are still in the arc of number 6. Well this part clearly exists to show us not only a small snippet about the twins' past but also about Mitsuba's connection with the house and Tsukasa (since they found the photo from the red house at Mitsuba's house) We have many revelations here, most of them explicit, that is, I don't need to mention it, but the most important revelation is that Tsukasa can float through the flow of time and that he was working together with the creature. In addition to, of course, the great possibility that Yashiro and Kou have changed the twins' fate. Everything in this part is extremely important, even the house's fear of fire, as the house disappeared in flames (which indicates that on the day/night of the twins' death the fire was present).
Then, the reunion of Nene and Hanako (still in the arc of number 6). Here we see Tsukasa's impatience, he appears (on purpose) after the two kiss and sends Yashiro to remove the seal from number 6. We've already talked about this, haven't we? Then we have the moment when Sakura reveals some things to Yashiro to gain his trust (at least a little), and also about Tsukasa, while talking to Sakura he says that Amane was irritated but that in the end he would do the job. Hanako didn't go to the boundary of number 6, he sent Hakujoudai, which means he was doing something elsewhere and therefore couldn't go get Yashiro himself, that is, he was obeying Tsukasa.
So, we have the end of the arc of number 6 with him leaving after the destruction of his boundary and we enter the redemption chapters. You know, those calmer, calmer chapters where the characters make up or discuss something from the past. It's the fireworks chapter. Where Kou makes peace with Teru and Yashiro with Aoi, and of course, Nene and Kou have a shallow and quick conversation with Hanako about how wrong what he did was (although he doesn't think so and doesn't guarantee he won't do it again) .
In the midst of all this, we have Mitsuba and Kou's reunion. Do you know why these chapters were important? Here we discover that Mitsuba is a "cannibal" since he is a supernatural and he usually eats similar ones. He is in the acceptance process, but has made it clear that this bothers him. Not only that, but it shows us that Kou is quite compassionate and that he will not follow his family's principles, after all he is protecting and taking care of a supernatural (Mitsuba) let's add that in the arc of number 6 there were some moments that were not shown to us between the two and Natsuhiko, who talks about how a human can become a supernatural. Even Kou's absence in that arc had a basis, but I won't delve into that.
Finally (for now) the current arc, the arc of number 1 this time more related to his yorishiro. I'm not going to go into depth on this one because it's in development and we have little information.
In any case, after the arc of number 1, there will be 3 and 7 left, as I said previously, or, one of the hypotheses is that the three can develop together because they are both connected. Did you notice Tsukasa's great influence on most of the events and on all his genius in connecting things? It's spectacular. It's like he's weaving every moment between his fingers. I was particularly amazed by this boy's intellectual capacity.
If that's the case, sure, but that's what everything indicates. I know there are important points that I didn't mention, but this post is too long. In short, Tsukasa is committed to showing us the true story of the school's mysteries, despite him being responsible for spreading the false ones, and each mystery has its own particular way of showing us. Maybe the story of number 7 will still take a while to arrive, in addition to numbers 1 and 3, we have the story of the minamoto, Yashiro's family, Natsuhiko and Sakura….. Ahhh it's going to be a long journey and I'm going to love following it .
If you read this far you are a warrior, thank you for that because this post gave me a lot of work to do hahahaha a lot of text to write what my little head was thinking x_x hahaha
Anyway, I hope you liked it.

In just the first chapter of the manga, Yashiro actively seeks out a supernatural to get a boy to like her. In her words, "I want the guy I like to fall in love with me this instant!" She states this just after calling Hanako shallow for brightening up after she called him cool. This is a bit of a hypocritical statement since even with our current knowledge, she sought out a school supernatural to get a boy to like her instead of establishing a real connection herself.
The only thing she can say about the boy she likes, Teru, is that, "He's hot, has good grades, and is very nice. He's amazing... Our school's prince!" These are most likely things she's assumed of Teru, or heard about him.
Yashiro grows nervous when it comes to putting herself out there. She's terrified of actually speaking to Teru, or getting him to like her. In her opinion, she's not the type of girl that guys fall for. She sees Aoi as the pinacle of what girls like, of what everyone likes. Even then, she is just putting Aoi on a pedestal. While Aoi is admired, because of her social status and persona, she is unable to truly be herself around anyone, even the two people closest to her. Those people being Akane and Yashiro.
When Hanako is asking her to name special abilities she has, Yashiro immediately thinks of gardening. Her reasoning for getting into it was a shallow act, again, to get a boy to like her. Yashiro only began gardening because this boy she had a crush on off-handedly mentioned that he likes feminine girls.
Even after three years of trying to confess, Yashiro established no connection with this boy. He even remarked, "You like me? I don't even know you. Gross." Even if the boy turned out to be a bit of a jerk, Yashiro most likely would have been kindly turned down by a different guy anyways, because she's never tried to get to know the guys she likes.
Yashiro has a problem where when someone has a physically appealing appearance, she glorifies their strengths and good traits, completely ignoring their flaws and refusing to look into them. Even in the Misaki Stairs arc, Yashiro is distracted by the beauty of Yako, a supernatural about to kill her. Later, when No. 6 kidnaps Aoi, and Aoi gets Yashiro to fall into the hole, Yashiro brushes it off immediately and easily forgives her because she can't see "her perfect Aoi" doing something so cruel like that of her own free will.
In short, because she glorifies popularity and people's beauty, Yashiro is also unable to recognize that beautiful people can also have troubles.
When Hanako says, "Anybody will do for you, huh?" He's recognizing that Yashiro barely knows anything about either of the boys she likes, easily able to substitute one pretty face for another. When he calls her out for not even knowing this boy's first name, she guiltily brushes it aside and pretends she didn't hear it, so she doesn't have to take it into consideration.
Yashiro doesn't want to think about how her thought process is flawed.
Before the first chapter ends, Yashiro does realize that she had been selfish with her pursuit of Teru and that so far, her way of thinking had been flawed.
Still, throughout the series, Yashiro has shown that she still glorifies popularity and beauty. She is always thinking of how, if she were more beautiful, if she didn't have "daikon legs," then she would be popular. And her daydreams of being popular show a Yashiro so far from herself, she is unrecognizable. A girl with no flaws, who is admired by all and sought out by boys, handome boys. (Someone so perfect that they don't even seem human.)
This is what Yashiro thinks Aoi's life is like, even if that's far from the truth. She does care about Aoi, but she is just barely beginning to understand her, even after their years of friendship.
Time and time again, Yashiro has been fooled by shallow promises of beauty and popularity. She wants to be loved and admired, she wants things to be "perfect." In the Picture Perfect arc, when No. 6 captures Aoi, and so on, she's also realized whenever she's grasped perfection, that she likes her flawed life. She likes things being imprefect, because those imperfect things are hers.
I have a feeling that, soon, Yashiro will have to face the fact that she doesn't truly know Aoi, and have a realization that their relationship has to change. Yashiro needs to stop chasing the perfect life, and accept the one she has.
(@mari-lair has a very good analysis of Yashiro and Aoi's friendship!)
I'm also hoping that Yashiro realizes that she doesn't actually like these perfect guys, just the idea of them.

Sure! Hanako have too much to work with, since he is the main character, so I’ll focus on the thing I love the most about him: His inexperience when it comes to caring about others.
Hanako put up thick walls between himself and his peers, rarely connecting to others, be they humans or supernaturals.
Helping students and keeping them safe is his duty, his punishment to atone, not something he personally wants, his own personal view is far more ‘cold’, Amane’s empathy was destroyed after he became a supernatural, beaten down after sixty years of being dead.
Tumblr media
What he tells Kou here is true.
He has shown time and time again, people’s life isn’t particularly important to him,  he’ll exchange one life for another without guilt for the person he doomed because of personal preference, and had destroyed yorishiros since the start of the manga, knowing of the danger of doing so, for his own gains.
Tumblr media
Before the manga story starts, Hanako is alone.
He plays with the other mysteries but he doesn’t consider anyone his friend. He keeps a distance even from Tsuchigamori, unaware Amane’s moon rock is his old teacher’s yorishiro and seemingly not talking to him much, only looking for Tsuchigomori when he needs him for something.
He is apathetic to practically everything, drowning in his own misery: Tsukasa is the only one that can break him out of his apathetic state, and he terrifies Hanako. Even though he is the titular character, we never see Hanako’s boundary because he doesn’t want to face his yorishiro, finding it much easier to hide and spend his afterlife in the bathroom instead.
Tsukasa was important to Amane, and while he is important to Hanako as well, Tsukasa is rarely perceived as his brother, his presence is mostly treated as the personification of Hanako’s guilt. Hanako hasn’t tried to understand Tsukasa’s feelings or expressed worry about his well-being: out of all his comflicting emotions, his priority is usually to look away.
Hanako has spent his afterlife in this limbo of running away and not connecting with anyone, but eventually, he met two people he got very attached to: Kou and Nene.
Tumblr media
He loves them a lot, much more than he loves himself.
He will try his very best to face Tsukasa, the embodiment of the trauma he has been running away from, to keep them safe.
Tumblr media
Most of the time, Hanako fails: he is too terrified to act, he panics.
He can’t help when Tsukasa is his oponent.
Even outside his past, there are still things Hanako can’t help with.
Tumblr media
The guilt and panic and pain of having no use for someone he wants to help hurt, but Hanako doesn’t run away from this pain.
He tries to help anyways, to reach out as best he can.
Tumblr media
And Kou’s trouble linger in his mind, when the kid gets depressed again, Hanako try to help him again.
He want Kou to feel better.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He may have said “He is kind of like you, isn’t he, No.2?” but he doesn’t care about Yako or her attachment to Misaki, his attention is on Kou the second he finish his request: interested in his reaction, not her feelings.
He is selfish though, he cares about their feelings, but he mostly listens to his own, which is most obvious to see with Nene.
In the clock keepers arc he mentioned he kept Nene’s lifespan secret because he wants her to live her best life in blissful ignorance, but he doesn’t make her the priority, he makes himself: He is aware she hates toilet duty, no one enjoys being forced to waste their evenings cleaning a bathroom, but he likes it.
Tumblr media
He rarely enjoys things, so he can’t let go of it. He can’t sacrifice this hint of joy for the sake of Nene living “her best life”.
He adores spending time with her, and since he has very little self-worth, he is convinced she would never spend time with him by her own volition, he needs to use the cleaning duty to keep her close.
Is why he gets so happy when she calls him a friend.
Tumblr media
This love, this care, is something Hanako really wants from her.
But is also something Hanako doesn’t think he deserves.
He can get frustrated by how much they love him, by how distorted their view is, as if he is a ‘good ghost’. He loves their kindness but he feel greedy for it, he loves their optimist but he is constantly looking down at them for it.
He loves them but he hates himself. So he sabotage himself.
He tells Kou and Nene point blank his bad traits “I am dead already. I don’t care if someone dies or not.” “I killed someone and you shouldn’t excuse it” “I am selfish, I care about you Nene, and not your best friend.” are things he only tell Nene and Kou, as if he was screaming. “I am not a good ghost!” even if he will never  tell them “Leave me alone, stop visiting me.”
Hanako is constantly fighting between clinging to what he loves, regardless of how much his behavior hurt them, and telling himself he should want them away from him.
Both of his attempts to save Nene involved being away from her, either trapping her in picture-perfect until she forgot about him, or exchanging Aoi’s lifespan with Nene’s, saving her but making it so he can’t see her again, and she would eventually forget about him.
The more Hanako's love for Nene grow the bigger the lengths he is willing to go for her, even if at it core, his love remains selfish, he knew Nene wouldn’t be happy with his solutions, but he doesn’t care, cause she will live, and she will live by his own hands.
He acts like doesn’t know why he does this a lot of times:
Tumblr media
And to some degree, he truly doesn’t know.
Hanako has many mental blocks when it comes to admitting vulnerability, even to himself. He looks anguished when he confesses to Nene that he wants her to live.
Tumblr media
Hanako never had a wish, not outside his “wish” to atone, which he constantly refears to as punishment, not something he personally want, just something he deserves.
Even as Amane he had given up on his wish.
Tumblr media
So wishing for Nene to live is a very new feeling.
This wish makes him go against his duties as No.7 and his quest to ‘repent’, but he can’t even care because he really wants her to live. And is not like going against “god’s will” is what trouble him, since he destroys yorishiros the second he got the chance.
He just want her to not die that much. He can no longer deny he is smitten with her.
We can see this all consuming care with Kou too, even if it is more subtle it’s still very present, and just as impactful in his afterlife.
Nene is someone he loves but very rarely rely on, she is his special someone, he’ll go above and beyond to do what he believe is best for her, ask anyone and even if they disapprove of his actions, they can’t deny he cling to her, always ready to rescue her.
His view on Kou is different, he is someone he ask to fight and help. Is not that he doesn’t trust Nene, not exactly, but he had the “I’ll keep you in the dark mentality” from the second they met, while he never planed to treasure Kou, he just saw enough potential, or use, in this exorcist kid to occasionally rely on him.
Tumblr media
Hanako plans for Kou only involved a vague “he can exorcise me later” idea, but he ends up genuinely caring about Kou after he stand up for him agaist Teru in the young exorcist arc.
It’s no longer just “this boy is so funny! I can both make fun of him and use him”, now Kou is his friend.
Just compare how he treats Kou when he is in Yako’s boundary, and in Hell of Mirrors.
Tumblr media
He has gotten the habit to be more honest with Kou, he is always counting on him on little things when they are together, and it hurts so bad when Kou fail, because Hanako trusts him, and he hasn’t trusted someone in such a personal way in 60 years.
Tumblr media
Hanako is more comfortable hating himself them his friends, so he usually doesn’t let his dissapointment in Kou linger. Focusing most of his negative thoughts on himself.
Tumblr media
Kou isn’t infallible, but he is the one Hanako trusts the most. Hanako used to trust Kou almost blindly, holding on to the feeling, but once he was let down, he gets so hurt, he resents the feeling.
He is a contradictory character. It feels like he hate Kou at times and is frustrated by Nene, but he can’t stop caring about them. He only got attached to two people, he can try, and he will, but he can’t pretend they aren’t important to him.].
We know Hanako lingered in Mei's fake world because his deepest wish is to be human with Nene. So even though it is a big red flag for Nene to see “Amane” in her class, the supernatural couldn’t resist playing pretend.
Just for a bit, just for a taste of a normal life with her.
Tumblr media
He is consistently selfish and irrational when it comes to Nene. He can’t let go.
His view on Kou is less frenzy but he can’t be discarded either, the kid is the other half of his reason to want to be alive after years of just accepting his death.
He have made up his mind about not going anywhere, he still refuse to follow the crew to Mei's exit, to the moon, but he wants Kou and Nene to always come to him.
Tumblr media
Cause even thought Yashiro was his focus, and Mitsuba took most of Kou’s time, Hanako does make it very clear he want Kou there. He even try to knock Kou out like he did with Nene the second he notices Mitsuba failed to distract him.
Tumblr media
He risked Kou being in this world, indulged Mitsuba in his dream to be human and live a normal school life by the side of friends, which is a wish Hanako has shown to actively disapprove of in hell of mirrors (and is the very same wish that Hanako have expressed to have in this arc), because Kou is part of it.
His motives for wanting to trap Kou until he lose his memories are unclear but his anger towards Kou for giving him hope after years of nothing only to realize he can’t back up his promises to make Nene live is all over picture perfect.
Tumblr media
And Hanako is a coward, he get angry kou want to stop him, discount his anger on Mitsuba, doesn’t explain anything, take Nene, and leave Kou confused.
Hanako only loses his patience and tell how he feels when Kou is in his way, and Hanako needs to beat him if he wants Nene to stay.
The one thing that he’ll always prioritize above all else is Nene after all.
Tumblr media
There is a certain determination to only focus on Nene after picture-perfect, not take Kou as seriously.
And what kills me is that Hanako’s attempts to distance himself are very half-hearted.
It fails.
No matter how real his anger and dissapointment, his care is just as real, if not more so. He is still eager to play fight with Kou and spend time with him. Their overall trio dynamic isn't affected.
Tumblr media
Is always “Nene” and “Kou” and “everyone else”. Even when Kou isn’t in the scene, Hanako thinks of him.
Tumblr media
There is this idea Kou is important, an implied “If I can’t save Nene, Kou will be the one to save her”, even with all the reasons and proof he has that Kou can’t do something as big as alter her fate, part of him still believe Kou can do it. Is a part of him that is illogical and Hanako hates it, and doesn’t want to deal with it.
So he focus on Nene's lifespan, he became obsessed with it.
He has always been possessive of Nene. In any chapter they are together he is touchy and flirty and so openly attached to her, it’s insane!
Tumblr media
He knows he is in love.
He also knows he is the ghost of a dead killed and feels like Nene deserves better than what he has to offer, but he can’t let her go.
Even when he is determined to grant her wish, to make a ‘no turn back’ decision, his determination crumbles the second they are face to face, his logic dies and he is just... Happy to see her again.
Tumblr media
Even if he knows his plans failed, even if he knows she will die, he just... like seeing her.
His love is openly selfish and doomed to not last, which is something he understands and doesn’t know how to deal with, but just like he can’t force himself to truly hate Kou and stop believing in him, he also can’t force himself to stop loving Nene and desperately trying to find ways to make her live.
He is a mess.

She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat 2 Eps 5-8 Stray Thoughts
Last week, we returned to my favorite ladies. They realized they were spending too much on their hangouts, so made the silly decision to just stop hanging out. That broke fairly quickly at least and they just started having more cost-effective meals together. Nomoto got a full time position along with her work bestie, and they're thriving. Nomoto watched her first lesbian film, and has made an internet friend. Kasuga noticed their new neighbor, and so they have begun the process of befriending her.
Episode 5
Very glad both of my favorite food shows with LGBT couples are wading directly into the importance of marriage equality.
Fuck yes we're getting back to the cabbage rolls!
YES!! A WATCH PARTY!!! Invite Kasuga!!
Kasuga is so careful with Nagumo. I'm not sure I'm reading exactly how determined each of them is being about being polite as Kasuga tries to be helpful.
Oh, Nagumo, I hope you find a way to be comfortable eating with them eventually.
Now, Nomoto, you were so close to telling her. Come on!
These cabbage rolls look good. I hadn't thought about putting them in a soup.
Yes, stay focused on Nagumo! We must befriend her!
Episode 6
I like introducing a character who struggles with eating with others into this show. I'm relieved it's only about eating in front of strangers.
That was an incredible eye roll from Kasuga to the message from her aunt.
Kasuga overhearing older women unpack their disdain for the caregiver expectation placed on them them is a good choice.
An asexual lesbian who wants to watch her stories with others. She is one of us. This is the gay sex and celibacy website z after all.
I like Yaku! She was warm to Nomoto, asked a good question about snacks. Admitted she doesn't like cooking in a way that doesn't make Nomoto's hobby seem bad. Then they enjoyed a film together.
Yaku is great. She's letting Nomoto lead here, and giving her encouragement to continue sharing.
Come through, Yaku! There is room for all types of lesbians! Quiet gays who maybe don't want to have a ton of sex can sit with us too!
"Are we in a drama?" Yes, Yaku, and you are the cool, self-actualized queer.
I'm glad Nomoto can share! This will definitely help her get out of her own head.
Episode 7
Oh, is her name Yako? I will start using that spelling.
Sayama, thank you for trying to help your friend confess to her crush, but she is determined for this to be a slow burn show.
Kasuga backs in to park She's better than all of us.
This conversation is ugly. The dad doesn't think he or the eldest son should do anything to help with elder care, but Kasuga should give up her entire life to take care of people who disrespect her. I can see why she's avoided them for this long.
I'm glad we already knew that Kasuga was not given enough to eat in the first season, so this is all reaffirming it and letting us examine the long term impacts.
They're all sharing on the balcony!
They're making donuts together!!!
Nagumo seems like she had a good time, and they're encouraging her to eat some on her own.
Childhood trauma episode, I see.
Nomoto and Kasuga have so much grace for Nagumo. They let her share about herself, asked her how they can best support her, and Nomoto even encouraged Kasuga to take some donuts home so Nagumo isn't the only one leaving with food.
Episode 8
SAYAMA GETS DONUTS TOO! I love this show!!!
Wow, this conversation between Kasuga and Ms. Fujita hit me. The seriousness with which she stressed to Kasuga not to give up her life for her parents landed so hard. This is complicated for me, because I've accepted that my role as the oldest will be that of caregiver in the future.
They turned her room into a storage space and still just expect her to clean it up. I'm glad she put her foot down here. I do believe in giving back the love and care we've received to our parents when they get older, but you are giving back what was given to you. Kasuga is right to not want to spend her adulthood as a household servant to an ungrateful man and his mother.
Wow, this Chosen Family scene took me right the fuck out.
Nomoto is correct. I will also not forgive Kasuga's father for making her feel like this.
She almost said it! We're getting close!
I'm so glad we're expanding the cast this season to deal with more issues affecting Japanese women. I really like that they spent two episodes on Kasuga deciding that the family she's building here is more important to her than the family that mistreated her. I'm so happy that Nomoto has another lesbian friend to talk to. I'm so relieved that Nagumo is opening up to them and starting to share in the warmth our ladies have offered her. I will be thinking about that donut scene for a while. I'm so happy that we have so much more time with them this season.

Thoughts about thunder
Tumblr media
First, normal.
Hanako’s is self proclaimed, probably meaning the liar is only saying he’s not affected by thunderstorms. No surprise honestly.
Nene is worried about the garden fields.
Mitsuba, the little pink rat, mentions Tsukasa for the 1000th time in his life. No surprise. Can’t go a day without thinking about Tsukasa, can you Mitsuba?
No mentioning Akane.
Kou is on guard. Someone give him a break.
Shijimei doesn’t care.
Excited people.
Tiara and Teru, opposite from their brother, they both love lightning.
So does Yokoo!
Scared people.
Aoi doesn’t admit she doesn’t like thunder.
Tsuchigomori hates loud noises. Much like myself. Thunder is so annoying, especially at nights when I’m trying to get sleep. It’s just a annoying as hearing loud helicopters noises outside at night.
Natsuhiko, I’m not that surprised he’s scared.
Yako returns back to her home 💀.
Satouu doesn’t even want to go outside.
Sousuke, cries.
And last but not least, the elephant in the room. “No comment.”
No comment from Tsukasa, but he’s on the scared side.
I would have made a separate post about this, but it feels right to put it in this one.
He’s probably doesn’t like thunder for the same reason as Tsuchigomori, because after 110 chapters of TBHK, I think we all now know Tsukasa hates loud, disruptive, unpredictable noises. Like the audhd he is.
He’s looking down, wide eyed, not willing to answer. Like he’s not willing to admit it, or anything involving his feelings about thunderstorms? Hm..
I will make another post involving this. About, ✨ Hypocrisy ✨.
You’ll see ;).

The first time I read TSUKUTABE (She loves to cook and She loves to eat) manga vol 3, I just passed by the bonus pages and didn't think much about it.
After some time, when I reread it, this page about their screen locks hit me differently.
Tumblr media
I'm talking about Yako-san's screen lock. I only thought it was cool the first time. but when I saw it again I realized why it was an inspirational message.
"I AM ENOUGH". I wanted to be able to say that about myself too. Yako-san has such a strong personality and is a proud asexual. She seems so content and happy even without romance in her life. She's a very reliable friend to the gang, and feels like the elder sister character to them.
She's such an amazing and inspirational character.

ch. 111
the plot thickens and I am thrown all around the room as if in a hurricane... I really cannot predict Iro-sensei's plots!!!!!!
oh Amane, all of your efforts, your gestures.... what a desperate, helpless feeling
Tumblr media Tumblr media
its the most predictable response Tsukasa would have, but it still hurts very very much.
Tumblr media
he's reaaaally strange isn't he... he's like that....
oh Amane.... you're so reactive to perceived rejection and failure. You'll say the worst things, you'll think the worst things... you're sooo unstable, Amane!
Tumblr media
What, you simply don't accept that your otouto would 'try to leave you'? I bet it's something like that. You "know he's fake" now because he "wouldn't do something like this to you"... that's my guess at your dumb little brain. Don't take him too seriously, okay, Tsutsu? Your brother just can't handle the sense of rejection of you choosing to die & leave him behind, or he can't handle that all his gestures and attempts to show his love fell so flat that you have no idea at all of his desperate love of you. Nooooo you have to be fake~~~ my real otouto would understand and he'd never leave me~~!!! I don't think you, Amane, understand how suicidal your real otouto was, and is, to this day! Would you believe it has less to do with disregarding you, and more to do with not believing in his own life's worth? No, you won't believe that, right... it's about you, instead! hahaha....
I'm glad I played AidaIro's Snow White game because... Estelio is THIS HURTFUL to Rasphard, and it's just out of a sense of being rejected!!! Estelio would kick his twin's goddamn corpse on the ground, let him wriggle and DIE in pain and AGONY if Estelio has the impression Rasphard wants nothing to do with him or isn't considering him ... LOL. Iro likes this kind of ... troubled, insecure, desperate, spiteful, needy person... you want the perfect brother, who loves you. You have that, but you can't understand the idea of someone choosing to leave you through death....
I wonder if Tsukasa started grabbing your jacket to move you to protect you.... meanwhile, Amane impulsively moved to protect his ~~~fake otouto, haha!
Tumblr media
I wonder ... if Nene-chan has her memories because, she is magical etc, or if Akane actively made Teru do something to her to enable her to... stay as an aware asset, since he isn't completely sided with the Clockkeepers... maybe Akane is waiting to see what 'new future' comes to be, and seeding a few tricks to utilize if he doesn't agree or wishes to pull out? (I mean, if the Severance never happened, Aoi definitely would not be his girlfriend haha)...
Tumblr media
The clockeeper's circumstance is interesting enough. Its very Aidairo-core. But not enough for me to talk about haha.
swag, I have been right the whole time! cool. yep!! of course. logical haha!! I can't be too proud of myself, it's been spelled out ...
Tumblr media
that same old God~~ our Tsutsu!
the year before the murder, when the boys were 12... fuckin scary place to go to. What on Earth are you changing... the circumstances of the shinjuu?
Tumblr media
if we're 'fixing' the 'problem', I wonder if that means we'll be going into the original timeline, where Amane would likely still be alive-- he'd just be an old man, and Nene-chan's teacher at Kamome. Wouldn't that be so funny and interesting? Lol. What would we all do if Amane was "Yugi-sensei" and like, old! It would be very AidaIro core AHAHAH ahhh the agegap fetish--! It's not enough to have Sumire x Hakubo and Yako x Misaki and Kako x Mirai and the entire Monstery Nursery AUs LOL you know, we need more ahahahaah (HanaNene is already technically biiig agegap! I would laugh if actually making Amane like 60 woke some people up flfjdklfdjk)
I'm just not sure... Amane could just be dead, I guess, and Tsukasa. Or he could be alive, and old. I have a vague theory that he must be a kaii because of, whatever he or Tsukasa had done together during the shinjuu... (maybe Amane was impulsed to eat some part of Tsukasa, maybe the God blessed Amane at the last second, etc etc)... it's hard to imagine Amane would be a school mystery-- Tsukasa is his yorishiro after all... and we don't quite know what circumstances make Sumire and Tsukasa into objects, if being sacrificed to the God had something essential to do with that...
Well, so interesting, I wonder if Nene-chan will have to go even further than she did in Picture Perfect-- in that arc, she had to choose to reject a seemingly perfect, but ultimately fabricated, world; even if it was 'nicer' than the 'real world'. Now, she might be shown a world fixed of its cracks-- it could even possibly be a world Amane never had to murder his brother, like she wanted before. Nene-chan is so often getting "what she asked for" in the wrong way, at the wrong time. She fell in love with "Hanako". Is the boy she fell in love with "here"? Is he in a form she can confess to?
Furthermore, she just bonded with Tsukasa, and has knowledge of the Red House... must be essential, to write that happening before this-- just before, even. Tsukasa even inspired her to need to free herself, even if Amane isn't there to save her.
Poor Nene-chan though-- so scary!!! What an awful situation to be in HAHAHA, flung around...
I have no idea what Mitsuba's situation will be, but Tsukasa is responsible for our "Mitsuba" to even be around. He wouldn't have even managed to become the ghost about the entryway without Tsukasa kaii-ifying him through his first, vague wish.
Well, it would be funny if these things were all true now:
-Amane is alive, but he's old lol -Aoi is not Akane's gf, and maybe that other timeline was the only goddamn way you could ever get her within reach lol -No Mitsuba To Speak Of lol
MUCH POSSIBLE, MUCH TO THINK ABOUT-- MAYBE I'M WRONG ABOUT IT ALL!!! Iro-sensei writes such interesting plot twists WOO ahahaha! I WONDER IF WE WILL INTERACT WITH 12 YEAR OLD TSUKASA AGAAAIN~~ pleaaase ~~
feeling more certain than ever that Tsukasa is The single most tragic member of this cast hahaha

ICYMI: There are so many Japanese qls airing weekly, so I’m going to start posting this little round up at the end of each week. Most of these shows are on Gaga and I highly recommend watching!
Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna 2
Tumblr media
Another great batch of episodes this week, as Kasuga and Nomoto settled into dating life, all the gals got together for various food related events, and Nagumo began seeking treatment for her eating disorder. This show is just always so compassionate with its characters, and manages to find interesting conflicts without going for high drama. I am very much enjoying seeing Kasuga and Nomoto figure out how their relationship should look now that they're dating and also how to communicate and respect each other as they make decisions. Kasuga's tendency to let Nomoto steamroll her feels harmless when it's about picking fruit or vegetables, but it won't be when it comes to making decisions about where they live and how to set up their home, so it's great they're addressing it early. It's also awesome to see them expand their circle of friends and deepen their bonds with Yako and Nagumo--I was high key jealous of the curry and s'mores parties. And Nagumo just has my whole heart. When she expressed profound relief at learning there is a name for her illness and ways to treat it, my mind immediately jumped to Rachel Bloom. Looking forward to her healing. I can't believe there is only one more batch of episodes coming, love and gratitude to @furritsubs!
Chaser Game W
I’ll keep this brief. This show was a mess, and not even in a fun way because unfortunately it was also extremely misogynistic. @twig-tea covered the major issues well in her post. Wild that this show aired simultaneously with TsukuTabe, what a dichotomy.
My Strawberry Film
Tumblr media
This one is really not grabbing me. It feels kind of slow and muted and uncertain about what it's doing. I am not finding the mystery or the love rhombus compelling, and this week's focus on Hikaru's infatuation with Minami had me yawning and picking up my phone a lot. But it's early, I am hopeful it will pick up some steam.
Sukiyanen Kedo Do Yaro ka
Tumblr media
This was a cute episode about Sakae and Soga getting past their initial awkwardness, learning how to communicate with each other, and moving into a more intimate phase of their relationship, and I think I would have loved it if we'd gotten it two weeks ago. This should have been the episode that followed their initial confessions, but instead the show did a two week diversion into love triangle nonsense, and unfortunately, I think it really threw off the pacing and the connection to these characters for me. It just feels too late in the show for this relationship to still feel so new. We haven't had time to settle in with them as a couple, or for them to develop a strong foundation to make us root for them to overcome the coming obstacles in the final arc. Still, this episode had some delightful scenes--Soga finally paying a visit to the sauna was my personal fav, and I also enjoyed the metaphor of Sakae literally catching Soga's love (and knowing @bengiyo would lose it over another important SPORTS moment in bl). This is a show I really want to love, but something just isn't connecting.
Perfect Propose
Tumblr media
I love this final episode and I love this show. Hiro quit his job, Kai resolved things with the shop owner and his son, and they finally got on the same page about their relationship and made out about it. 10/10 no notes for this finale. It was lovely to see Hiro finish his project and make a decision to quit the daily grind--I loved, too, that he is still in touch with his former colleagues--and we saw the change in him so quickly. He looked happier, lighter, brighter. His skin was cleared and his crops were watered! And Kai got to have his moment of catharsis too, sharing his fear that he is a burden on others and having Hiro affirm for him that he wants him in his life and he's a help, not a burden. And I loved that we got all that plus a great kiss, a bed scene (with a very cute leg cramp diversion) and a small peek at their new domestic life together. This show makes me happy and it will definitely be one I return to for rewatches.
Ossan's Love Returns
Tumblr media
I'm of two minds on this finale. On the one hand, I really loved it as a single episode of the show, was happy with where all the resolutions landed, and was left with a very warm feeling toward the show overall. The cherry blossom scene especially really got me right in the feels; I've loved the progression of Maki and Haruta's relationship this season and I love the way they talk to each other. They have earned themselves a spot on my list of favorite drama couples who I actually believe are going to stay together. I also loved everything about the big chaotic group scene and all these characters coming together to pour love on Haruta; it felt earned after a season of him knocking himself out for all his loved ones. The end joke with Chief moving in next door, and getting a final Maki/Kurosawa battle, was *chef's kiss*. And Takegawa's perfect life partner being a cat? 10/10 no notes. I will be clutching my aroace Takegawa read tightly to my bosom.
On the other hand, the episode reinforced for me that the way we got to a lot of these resolutions didn't feel quite right. In particular, I don't think the way Kurosawa's health scare played out across the back half of the season worked, and I'm not too pleased about spending three episodes in a downbeat, tragic mode for the sake of a simple pun joke. I think the whole plot would have landed a lot better for me if the audience was let in on Kurosawa's mistake at the start and the tone of his overwrought goodbyes was farcical all the way through. Not only would that have maintained the comedic tone of the show, but we could have used that story time to better seed some of the themes of this episode with Haruta's crisis of confidence and yearning for family. I'm pretty much agnostic on Kiku and Izumi; they never sold me on that pairing but I wasn't mad about their ending.
Overall, I am very glad I jumped into this show and enjoyed the watch experience a lot, despite my quibbles with some of the overarching writing choices. The cast is amazing and all the characters make me smile. If they make another season, I'll be watching!
Bonus: Josi teki Saikatsu
Tumblr media
I finally watched this drama this week--I held out for awhile hoping to find it in better quality, but no dice, it's 480p in the grey--and despite the potato lens I loved it so much. This is the story of Miki, a transfemme lesbian, just trying to live her life in the way she wants, and all the barriers she comes up against in that pursuit. Our story begins when her childhood friend, Goto, comes looking for his old pal in a moment of desperation and is stunned to see how she's changed. The show is only four short episodes, but they manage to paint a full picture of Miki's life at home, at work, with friends and lovers, and with her estranged family, and show us how she became who she is. Miki is whip smart and perceptive and generous, but also wary of trusting anyone after she's been let down by so many loved ones. I love her so much, and you will too. This story was written by a trans woman and it shows! Brave the 480p and check it out.

The seven wonders are based on real legends in real life like hanako I have feeling that the other seven wonders were inspired by real life legends
This appears to be somewhat true, though I haven't found links for all of the Mysteries myself yet. And certainly none quite as on the nose as Hanako-san.
For one, the Mysteries in Hanako appear to be a combination of both tales from Japanese folklore and "The Seven Mysteries", a common urban legend found in Japanese schools. Exactly who or what the mysteries are differ depending on the school, but they will often have a lot of overlap, especially in regards to the "Hanako" legend.
For example, Yako is based on a fox statue, like those found in shrines dedicated to the god Inari. But the Misaki Stairs also has its roots in many variations of the Seven Mysteries of the School legend, since a lot of them involve staircases. Some also involve moving statues, which fits very well with her origins. So Yako is like a mix of several different things--with AidaIro's own twists thrown in, of course.
And then we have a case like Hakubo, who has more profound links with folklore but weaker links to urban legends.
He's likely based on the Ushioni, a race of Japanese yokai. Ushioni would translate to something like "bovine demon/oni," which clearly comes across with the signature cow skull he wears.
On top of this, the backstory of his oni family being slaughtered by Minamoto no Yorimitsu is a clear reference to the myth of Shuten Douji.
Tumblr media
Not only that! But Hakubo is probably based on the legend of Ushi Gozen, a member of the Minamoto Clan. There are varying accounts of the story, but he was apparently born to Minamoto no Mitsunaka, who was the father of Minamoto no Yorimitsu. Because Ushi Gozen was born with bull horns and an oni's face, Mitsunaka wanted him killed. His mother couldn't stand this, however, and secretly whisked Ushi Gozen away to someplace safe, where he would grow to adulthood.
Once his father learned his son wasn't dead, he angrily sent Yorimitsu after him, leading to an epic battle between the two brothers. At the end of the grueling fight, Ushi Gozen fell into a river and met his end, but this did not stop him from bringing disaster to the neighboring people for years to come.
...Anyway, that's just my retelling of the story, but elements like him being a member of the Minamoto Clan and being defeated by Yorimitsu are interesting, aren't they? Especially when you factor in how Kou was named after and greatly resembles Yorimitsu...
Tumblr media
Anyway, as for his link to the seven mysteries... well, there's this one legend I found about people hearing an instrument that no one was around to play. Apparently, whoever heard it died. This is remarkably similar to the rumor Aoi tells Nene about Number 6.
Tumblr media
So... as I was saying, none of these are quite as simple in their origin as Hanako-san. Which is great! AidaIro is doing a fantastic job of drawing upon both Japanese folklore and urban legends to craft a familiar yet unique story for all of us. And I think it'd be boring if I could just google 学園七不思議 and get spoiled on the story, don't you?
If anyone wants to share their own research on the Mysteries' ties to urban legends and Japanese folklore then I'd love to hear about it! And if you all are interested, then maybe I could make a bigger post touching on this subject again later.

Tsukutabe Vol 3 English Release, A Review!
A few days ago I was finally able to get my hands on the long awaited third volume of the Tsukuritai Onna to Tabetai Onna (She Loves to Cook, and She Loves to Eat) manga! Here are some of my thoughts - first, no spoilers, and then under a readmore I'll discuss some specific scenes I really liked.
I was very excited to finally read ahead - since the TV live action adaptation covers the same plot points as the first two volumes of the manga, and since there are basically 0 spoilers floating over from the jp fandom into my periphery, I truly had no idea where it was going. And what can I say but it was an absolute delight.
Like in volume 2, we are keeping a balance of the silly, everyday life of Nomoto & Kasuga and their cooking adventures, interspersed with quite serious, even dark moments in their personal lives. In fact, this volume features probably the darkest scenes in the series yet, more on that in the spoiler section later, but I truly had tears in my eyes for a bit. However I love how the focus when discussing these serious topics is always on the character and their feelings in the moment - how they can recognize what's been in their past, and how they've been able to move on and find happiness again, expressing a desire to do so. They've been hurt in their lives - mostly by their families that they've left behind, or by coworkers and strangers - but they are allowed to work through those feelings, take no shit, and say "No, I deserve better than this." There's also more focus again on LGBT advocacy now, with Nomoto coming out (to herself) at the end of volume 2, we now see her try to get comfortable with the lesbian label and how it affects her. There's also discussion on asexuality and its many shades, which I really appreciated!
The biggest change in volume 3 is the addition of two new characters - Yako-san, one of Nomoto's online friends who starts to become a bigger part of her life when Nomoto starts opening up about her sexuality; and Nagumo Sena, who is their "middle neighbor", the person who moved into the apartment between Nomoto & Kasuga that's been empty for the previous two volumes. Nagumo starts to befriend Kasuga when the two have a run-in. So a lot of the volume we actually see the two new pairs interact, and the focus is away from our main couple for a bit (but not really). Rather than new side characters, Yako and Sena feel more like an extension of the main cast, an extension of their little family, and they are immediately likeable and mash well with the rest. Speaking of family, although it's been a theme before, volume 3 really makes the central theme of "found family" very explicit. And it really warms the heart.
And my favourite part, without giving too much away, Kasuga also again receives chapters with her as the protagonist, rather than having Nomoto be the narrator all the time. This is actually the only thing I really miss in the TV live action, there are only a couple of scenes in there where you can see Kasuga's train of thoughts. The manga gives you much more insight into her inner workings. I'm hoping this will change for season 2 of the show, especially knowing what's in store.
Overall, the third volume brings a lot of fresh turns but stays true to its vibe and feel at heart. And of course it doesn't forget that there's also a love story, with Nomoto & Kasuga inching ever closer to each other. But I think this volume is where the story makes a point to say, Hey, This Isn't A Romance Series - it's a series about healing from past trauma, family, and especially found family, tackling everyday misogyny and homophobia, and all that through the very mundane task of cooking. I can't wait for volume 4 to come out, and season 2 of the live action series of course!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The biggest thing I wanted to talk about was the conversation Kasuga has with her father on the phone. It's just so fucked up. We've only seen her family in flashbacks up until now, and reading the conversation between the two of them shows how far Kasuga has come in the 10 years since she's left home. Unlike Nomoto, who has a rocky relationship with her family but still keeps in contact, Kasuga has cut herself completely off since she left, and her views on family are central to her storyline. She wants to eat whatever she likes and not be shamed for it, own the things she wants, live in her own space, work a job that she choses. She wants to be herself.
Tumblr media
At the same time, Kasuga is also the most family-oriented character. She loves to take care of others, make them feel at home and feel included, and she wants others to care for her too, unconditionally. When she thinks about what she values about "family", and the things she desires, there's only one logical conclusion to come to.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kasuga's ties to her family also make her the perfect person to bring in Sena to the group. Sena is the total opposite of Kasuga, yet they're able to connect because of their shared traumas connected to food and family. When Kasuga bluntly accepts Sena without a second thought, the two really start to connect and it was just so sweet. Sena's whole backstory really touched me a lot and I definitely cried xD
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These are the main two things I really couldn't wait to talk about!!! I really love Sena a lot and I'm excited to see more of her in the next volume. It's also very funny that it takes her, what, a single evening to immediately get that Nomoto and Kasuga have mutual crushes on each other, lmao.
The other new character, Yako-san, is also really fun. She's the confident, take-no-bullshit counterpart to Nomoto, and she proudly identifies as both a lesbian and asexual. Apart from that, we haven't seen much of her and her backstory yet - I'm hoping there'll be more in the future, especially with her in parallel to the main romance (idk if she's also aromantic, but it might be hinted at already?). I can't wait to see!
Those are some assorted thoughts... I really love this series and I appreciate it for the simple yet concise storytelling, and the love Yuzaki-san puts into her characters. They feel like real people, reflecting real insecurities and problems you'd run into in real life, even when it's exaggerated in a comedic manner. Can't wait to see where it goes next!!

The relationship between Tsukasa, Yashiro and Amane
The two wolves and little red riding hood.
Tumblr media
You must still be thinking about the kiss Tsukasa gave Nene, am I right?
The bond these three have has been there since the beginning of the story, but Tsukasa didn't get the spotlight he should have because everyone was too worried about how he was a bad boy who should be punished.
We're dealing with a temporal paradox, so things are going to be difficult to connect. Initially Tsukasa should have disappeared with the red house and Amane would live and become a teacher in the future.
Then, a girl enters the red house and meets Tsukasa, I imagine she caught his attention first because of the way she reacted when she saw him for the first time (I'll talk about this later) and second because she knows Amane.
So here the future changes. The boy decides to return after finding out about his tragic future, but let's not forget Nene and Kou. He remembers them, he called her to play again.
So think with me, Tsukasa came back, lived and saw things we don't know yet. He was asking Amane to fix the watch, why? Did he want to change something from the past?
We don't know what happened between the twins, but we know that Tsukasa needs Nene. Tsukasa has been in the story since the mokkes had their rumor changed, wasn't it Sakura who changed it? So, did Tsukasa make Yashiro hear the rumors about Hanako-san and go knock on his door?
We didn't see how Nene heard the rumors about Hanako, we already started the story with her summoning him. So there is a possibility that it was Tsukasa's influence.
Ok lunar fairy, what do you mean by all this?
Tsukasa has been making the story move from the beginning, the rumors he spread force Hanako to intervene and remove Yorishiro's seals from the mysteries. He knows that the only one can remove is Yashiro, something Hanako also knows about, so Tsukasa brings the two together.
Tsukasa knows that Nene likes Amane because she tells him so. When he was a baby, this was strangely one of the first questions he asked her. He suddenly asks her if she likes him, she gives a neutral answer, then he asks her if she likes Amane and she confirms.
Tumblr media
"We are the same" - he says
Because he also likes Amane. But leaving that aside, Tsukasa knows that Yashiro likes Amane, but she doesn't know if Amane likes her. So, let's imagine that in Tsukasa's mind it would be easier to influence Amane if he fell in love with her.
He knows what Amane does for someone he loves, so it would be easier to manipulate him that way.
But why is Tsukasa doing this?
Your objective is to take out all the Yorishiros, Nene is the person who can take them out, but she wouldn't do that for no reason (because she doesn't know anything about the supernatural world or even about how important her ability is) so to for her to be able to take away the yorishiros, she would have to have a reason, she would have to have "something in return" and what does Yashiro want?
A boyfriend.
And she told Tsukasa that she liked Amane. Did you manage to see it now? It's an exchange, I give you something and so do you.
I don't know if Tsukasa knows that Amane has a crush on Nene, but I don't doubt that he does. So, it brings the two together and they create a bond. Yashiro does things for Hanako without knowing what he is doing, she thinks it is right because she has come to trust Hanako.
He saved her life and that of her friends, then simply assumed that Hanako was a good ghost, just like Kou. So they started removing these seals.
And Tsukasa was there watching everything. The black crane was always with Nene. He stayed close by to see if everything was going to happen the way he wanted.
Tumblr media
He was there when they went to remove Yako's seal, he was there when Hanako kisses Yashiro on the cheek, he was there when Sakura influenced Yashiro to find the Tsuchigomori library, so when does Tsukasa decide to reveal herself?
When Nene tells Hanako that she likes him.
Tumblr media
And that even if he is complicated, she would be by his side. Then, just as Hanako was about to say something in response, Tsukasa appears to them.
Then we met Tsukasa for the first time.
Tsukasa overreacts when Nene says that Sakura was Amane's girlfriend, and after Sakura denies any involvement with him, Tsukasa asks Nene if she has ever kissed Amane and then if they are dating.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Yashiro denies it, he abruptly approaches her.
"Really?"
His reaction caught my attention the first time I saw it. Nene is scared by the sudden approach but I have doubts about him.
He gets very close to her face, so I started to get suspicious from that moment on.
What did that mean?
Tsukasa continues to follow everything Yashiro and Hanako do. So when Amane and Nene share their first kiss, Tsukasa appears shortly after. He butts into the conversation because he was listening.
Tumblr media
Did you stop to think about it?
Then Tsukasa waited for Amane to kiss her. Afterwards he showed up so she could take the number 6 seal off, and Tsukasa tells Sakura that Amane was sulking, but he's going to do his job.
Tumblr media
Then Sakura tells Yashiro that she won't die if the seals aren't removed (she spoke hidden from Tsukasa, but at the same time she said that she will make Yashiro remove the seals even if against her will, contradictory, isn't it?)
Yashiro and Hanako now have no interest in removing the seals, especially the number 1 one, which can help Yashiro's life. What does Tsukasa do when Amane decides not to do what he wants?
Oh, you thought of that, didn't you? Of course, what would force Amane to do what he wants? Tsukasa doesn't mince words, he kissed the girl Amane likes and kidnapped her. Will he obey me now?
If Nene wants to die to be with Amane, but Amane doesn't want her to die, then, because she is so easily influenced, she follows what Hanako says (and because she doesn't actually want to die, but didn't want Aoi to go in her place )
But if that was the only option Hanako had, and he told Nene she would die, she would. Tsukasa controls Amane and Amane uses his influence on Nene, who obeys him.
This is a possibility. Tsukasa knows that Amane is possessive and jealous, his reaction after seeing his younger brother kissing the girl he likes makes it very clear.
So, the first hypothesis is that Tsukasa used Yashiro as an object to do what he wants and when he wants, in addition to using her to manipulate Hanako.
Hanako has things to do before being "saved" he said God would forgive his sins if he did something we don't know yet. He also tells Teru that he has things to do here and if he exorcises himself he would free himself. In other words, he is being forced to do something for his own salvation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sealed Tsukasa is his yorishiro, he exists to remind his owners of their duty, as Sakura said. Tsukasa appeared shortly after Nene created a bond with Hanako, he came back (because he said it had been between 10 and 20 years since he had seen him) he came back to remind Hanako of his duty.
Tumblr media
Hanako seems to be on Tsukasa's side, despite not agreeing with his brother's methods, he doesn't really stop him. Tsukasa is responsible for all this mess at school but Hanako doesn't do anything too drastic to make Tsukasa stop. And what did Tsukasa say to Amane when he sends Yashiro to the border of number 6?
"he was sulky, but he will do his job"
Which job? And he doesn't show up at the boundary of number 6, he sends one of the joudais to get Nene, so he was actually doing something at Tsukasa's behest.
So, the first possibility is this. Nene is an instrument that Tsukasa is using to take out the yorishiros and perhaps for some other reason besides these (there are several hypotheses).
The second possibility is about Tsukasa being interested in Nene.
It's a nebulous possibility because Tsukasa has shown few signs of interest in her.
You ask me, few? is there any sign?
Yes, Tsukasa has shown signs that he might be interested in Nene romantically. You know, Tsukasa has this thing, it's extremely difficult to read Tsukasa sealed because he doesn't show much, but we have other possibilities.
I don't know if you noticed, but when the characters seem to be enchanted, amazed or enjoying something in particular, these "little stars" appear around them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(If I were to show you all the times these stars appeared here it would take the whole day XD)
So when Nene meets little Tsukasa for the first time, she does this
Tumblr media
And he reacts like this
Tumblr media
The stars are here. Tsukasa asks Kou if he kissed Nene, and when he denies it Tsukasa seems to be…relieved?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then he asks Nene if she likes him, then about Amane.
Tumblr media
Sealed Tsukasa abruptly approaches Nene when she denies that he is dating or that he kissed Hanako.
Tumblr media
The way he approaches her when he reappears at the school festival.
Tumblr media
Then the kiss
Tumblr media
And his reaction to him.
Tumblr media
These are small signs, but you can't ignore them. I still don't consider it to be the same love that Hanako feels, Tsukasa acts on impulse very often and has a very childish mentality at certain times. So it's difficult to consider anything certain from him.
Knowing Tsukasa's nature, he could have kissed whoever he wanted, like Sakura for example, he even asks her if she wants to kiss him at the tea party, she refuses and he leaves it alone. But, he orders her and she has to obey, as Sakura already said. Tsukasa never ordered her to do this. He wouldn't even need to, he does what he wants, he already lifted her dress, would a kiss be something big compared to that?
He simply chose Nene to kiss (without her consent) something he could have done with anyone else.
Tumblr media
So you tell me, "but he's already done bad things to her" and I tell you, he also did it to Mitsuba. He did it with Hanako, the person he loves most. Why wouldn't he do it with Nene?
Tsukasa is a confused boy, we don't know how he shows love, and what it means to him. Amane says Tsukasa hates movies because he gets too restless, so when he asks Tsukasa, he says he loves movies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You see? Tsukasa is very contradictory, his way of showing that he likes something or someone is different from ordinary people, so how do you think Tsukasa would show love if he was in love?
As for Amane, the most mysterious among the three, he definitely loves them both, but he doesn't have the courage to tell any of them.
Hanako is a good actor, he manages to be what he needs, so although it is easier to read his feelings it seems that there is a nebulous cloud above him that hides some important details.
He loves Yashiro, but he tries to hide it with all his might. There are several motivations for this, I even assume that he is quite altruistic at this point. Hiding that he likes her so that she doesn't get too attached, because he's not an ordinary boy and he can't offer her what she wants, but in the end he can't hold back any longer.
He gives in to this feeling, even though at first it was all just a joke between them. Hanako knew that Yashiro was going to die and was probably going to use her for some purpose. Her time is short, so I will offer her the best I can. Then when the time is right she will fulfill her destiny.
So, I just used her to take out the yorishiros, she has fun, I have fun and in the end she will die and it's okay because I don't care who dies.
But he fell in love, plans changed.
From the moment Hanako decided that he was going to save Yashiro, Tsukasa began to interfere more and more. Because Amane is not doing his duty.
And what does Amane still feel for Tsukasa? It's still love, but guilt and shame wrap it in a tight embrace. Is Hanako's fear of Tsukasa or of what he did to his younger brother?
Hanako also has goals to fulfill, I even have some theories about what they are, but I prefer to leave that for another post, this one is already long enough.
Hanako and Tsukasa seem to have common goals, they work in secret, Yashiro is an important part of the story. So she fell into the house of wolves and doesn't know how to get out.
What if at the end of the story Hanako has to choose which of the two he has to save? Who would he save? The little brother he loves and sacrificed his life for his, or the girl he loves?
The possibility of going back in time gives Hanako another chance to save Tsukasa, although time only goes back inside the school, I imagine that the red house and the school are linked, after all the twins died in the house, but Hanako is trapped in the school . Although he may have been later linked to the school. In any case, the two places have a direct connection to each other.
When all the yorishiros are removed, Tsukasa will disappear after having his seal removed, so Amane will say goodbye to him, at the same time he will lose Yashiro, who will die after all the yorishiros are removed, he will lose both of them.
Maybe Tsukasa wants Amane to hate him (more than he realizes Amane feels for him) so that Amane can destroy him more easily, and who knows, maybe he wants Amane to feel anger towards Yashiro right now so that he will allow her die. So how would he piss him off? Making your brother jealous? It's a possibility.
In the end, maybe Hanako will reveal this wild and irrational side of him to us and end everything.
Perhaps, when all the seals break, including Hanako's, Amane will transform into something very powerful and uncontrollable that will destroy everything. So the only person who can make him return to "normal" would be Yashiro, (who has the ability to purify) who would die in the process, so by removing the seals, Hanako would gain a wish, what would he ask for? And for whom?
We still have the clock's arc, and the Tsuchigomori's ability, there are still alternative ways to change the past or the future before reaching this tragic ending.
There is also the possibility of a love triangle, I don't know if it would happen, we need to know more about how Tsukasa feels before considering that for sure.
There's no telling what will happen between the three, but I'm curious to find out.
This post was longer than I imagined XD sorry about that.
This is all my interpretation, there is a strong possibility that I am wrong, but it was fun talking about it hahaha, I hope you enjoyed it :3

What do you think will happen to Akane when No 1.‘s yorishiro is destroyed (because story wise it probably will be.)
Once they lose their seat as a school mystery, will Akane not be a part of them anymore? And if so, what will happen to him. I think that the best case scenario is that he will lose his powers but still be able to see supernaturals. The worst case scenario is that his memory of anything supernatural is wiped but I’m really hoping that doesn’t happen.
(I think about this more than I should)
I feel ya! I too think way too hard about Akane’s situation.
The best case scenario to me is that Akane gets the same treatment as the other mysteries that lost their yorishiro and he mostly became weaker. The six years of his contract aren’t over after all, he may lose his seat but not his connection to the clock keepers, the only change is that the clock keeper's boundary is gone and maybe instead of 15 minutes per day, he can only stop time 5 or 1 minute per day.
Cause those that lost their yorishiro aren’t completely disconnected from their school mystery powers (Tsuchi still has access to the books after the library is gone. Yako knows how to find portals. And Mei created something magical in the new chapter for Sakura. )

But since there are three clock keepers, and Akane is only half supernatural, it’s hard to know what would happen... Him losing his powers cause he is the weaker link of the keepers, and there could not be enough power remaining in their rumor to sustain his pocket watch, or something of sorts, but this lost connection not nullifying his ability to see supernaturals, similar to Aoi after her rescue, would be cool. I like your best case a lot.
His memory of anything supernatural being wiped out fuck me up for many reasons but I want to believe it won’t happen both because Aoi got back from the near shore still seeing supernaturals, and cause Teru, a competent exorcist, may have ways to protect his memory from any possible curse.
Now a bit of insanity time: The worst case to me is that Akane should have been dead before the manga even started.
Akane is a normal boy, he isn’t related to exorcism or sacrifices or anything supernatural. Just like Nene he couldn’t even see them for all his life and only had manual labor to offer when they made a contract.

But this normal boy ‘suddenly’ starts seeing the clock keepers the moment they had everything set up to put their recruiting plan into action.
I can’t say with any confidence they shortened Akane’s lifespan, but I do find it very convenient that the supernaturals whose rumors involve stealing people’s time had Akane able to see them when they needed him to see them.
So I have this theory he is a walking corpse.
He could see the clock keepers at 12, and he is already 15, so if we compare his situation to Nene’s (who has one year to live since being involved with supernaturals, and is the only other human with a supernatural contract) he would be two years past his expiration date. The only thing keeping him alive at the moment is his contract with Mirai and Kako, once the contract is over he is dead, and the destruction of the clock keeper's yorishiro would accelerate his death or null the contract completely and kill him right away.
Tumblr media
It would also add another layer as to why Hanako is so fascinated by Akane, and why Mei told Yashiro to seek the clock keepers to help with her lifespam, but instead of showing the three keepers, like usual, it just shows akane. Akane in his two forms.
Tumblr media
Him having two bodies (one that is supernatural and invisible to students, so technically, a ‘dead’ body) is already very strange, and if anyone can twist the laws of fate to give someone more time in this manga, it would be the clock keepers.
