WARNING: POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR STAR WARS LEGENDS
One take I regularly see from the “Jedi Critical” corner of this fandom always manages to baffle me: “In Legends, Luke Skywalker corrected the mistakes of the dogmatic Jedi Order!”
Since my days as a dumbass first-time tumblr user, in which I was rather sternly corrected by older users if I got too aggressive in my arguments, I’ve tried to steer away from pointing out how STUPID that take is. But? Nothing’s saying I can’t make a post of my own about it!
So.
With the bare minimum of due respect.
What fucking book did you read where Luke Skywalker corrected his own fucking mistakes, let alone those of any Jedi who came before him?
Because from what I’VE read? Luke had a nasty habit of doing the same things everyone criticizes the Prequel Jedi for doing, only ramping the ante up in a way only a Skywalker trained by TWO of the Disaster Lineage can.
Mace Windu threatened a “helpless” old Chancellor in his own office and was trying to assassinate him? Gag me. Luke Skywalker electrocuted Shimrra Jamaane to death with Force Lightn-pardon me, “eLeCtRiC jUsTiCe.”
The Jedi Order of the Prequels used Padawans as “child soldiers”? Please. Luke Skywalker possessed the body of his nephew to duel Exar Kun…when Jacen Solo was TWO, a FUCKING TODDLER. That’s not even getting into the number of very young teenagers who died horrible deaths as SOLDIERS in the war against the Yuuzhan Vong - for pity’s sake, Anakin Solo was knighted at sixteen and KILLED AT SEVENTEEN, where his grandfather’s knighting at nineteen was considered a rush job!
The Galactic Army of the Republic was a slave army? So was the army of YVH-1 battle droids built to battle the Yuuzhan Vong invasion! “Oh, but those were just droids” yeah and? The anti-Jedi folk cried when Anakin Skywalker was rightfully punished for not wiping R2’s memory of sensitive battle information, and they’ve outright said they have more sympathy for the battle droids than for the living, breathing people defending themselves against the battle droids. Not to mention, Legends had a Droid’s Rights movement in full swing at this point in time, so? YVH’s were people programmed from “birth” to die in battle. Next question.
Obi-Wan was too mean to Darth Maul and Darth Vader when he cut off their limbs? Alema Rar would like a word! Luke Skywalker permanently crippled her lightsaber arm, his sister cut off one of her feet AND one of her lekku (brain tails, that HAVE HER BRAIN IN THEM), AND put her in the way of a spider-sloth that BIT HER IN FUCKING HALF. And this was after Luke helped raise her as a youngling and HAD A VISION OF HER TURNING TO THE DARK SIDE, and did FUCK-ALL to prevent her from turning!
On the topic of doing fuck-all to prevent something…oh, was Obi-Wan Kenobi unable to prevent his Padawan from being groomed by a Sith Lord? Well, Luke Skywalker GAVE his son Ben as an unofficial apprentice to Jacen Solo, who turned out to be Darth Caedus and mentally, emotionally, and physically tortured Ben for six years! And, while Obi-Wan did not like Palpatine and continuously advised Anakin not to trust him without even knowing Palpatine was Sidious, Luke fully suspected Jacen was headed down a dark path and still encouraged Ben to be his apprentice because he was afraid of the Skywalker legacy dying with him.
Obi-Wan Kenobi flirted inappropriately with enemy generals? Luke Skywalker banged them. No, seriously, Legends Luke’s sexual body count is in double digits, the man was an unrepentant fuckboi. Mara Jade, Calista Masana/Mingla, Gaerial Captison, Shira Brie, some blonde named Mary who was in one comic to die at the end, fucking ABELOTH? Yeah, Luke only married one of those women, BUT HE FUCKED ALL OF THEM. And now, we have the DinLuke ship (which only exists in fanon, so I will count it as Legends) to mirror the Codywan ship (which actually has some basis in canon), just to cement that Luke Skywalker is a persistent playboy for BOTH teams. He loves them and leaves them like a pro.
Oh, there’s a persistent fan-theory that Korkie Kryze was Satine and Obi-wan’s secret love child? There were rumors that Brisha Syo was Shira Brie’s daughter with Luke…rumors that were credible enough that Luke had to do his own investigation into the matter. Shira Brie, aka Lady Lumiya, whom Luke blew to smithereens when she tried to kill him, and fought her with no mercy when Darth Vader pieced her back together and sent her to fight him again. So, while Obi-Wan has a rumored lovechild from a respectful relationship with a woman who opted not to tell him, Luke legitimately blew up his alleged baby mamma in the void of space with the bare minimum of regret.
Yoda and Obi-Wan sent Luke to kill his own father because they couldn’t manage to do so? Luke sent his niece, Jaina Solo, to kill her TWIN BROTHER because he could not bring himself to kill Jacen himself. And, while Luke was understandably torn up about killing Anakin, Jaina had a Force-bond comparable with a canon dyad withh Jacen - it hurt her a lot more when she killed Jacen than it ever would have hurt Luke to kill Vader. She nearly DIED of heartbreak, that’s how bad it was.
Obi-Wan hurt Anakin’s trust by faking his death and going undercover? He beat the crap out of Anakin to maintain his cover? Luke hurt Leia’s trust by faking turning to the Dark Side, becoming a reborn Sidious’s new apprentice, ACTUALLY FALLING TO THE DARK SIDE, and mentally fighting Leia WHILE SHE WAS PREGNANT, to the point she WENT INTO LABOR EARLY.
Obi-Wan beat Anakin in a duel and left him to burn to death? Luke Skywalker BEAT THE LIVING HELL out of Vader until Vader was wordlessly pleading for MERCY, which he DID NOT DO ON MUSTAFAR.
Now.
Is there any nuance in Luke’s situations, throughout all of these examples? Yes, there is...but there’s also nuance in the Jedi’s situation in the Prequels, which no one seems to acknowledge in their case. So, whatever grace I extend to Legends!Luke being an imperfect and fascinating character, also extends to the Jedi being imperfect and fascinating characters in their own right.
I love Legends!Luke BECAUSE he reminds me of the Prequels Jedi, not because he corrected any of their “mistakes” (he did not. He very clearly did not). So don’t come at me saying Legends!Luke was better than the Prequel Jedi. I have read the books! I have kept the receipts! AND I WILL USE THEM.

Millionth Hogwarts Legacy rant because I'm delulu and too sensitive 😂 I swear, I need another fandom at this point. I wish I could control my emotions but I can't. Otherwise I would have lol
I swear to god, I guess I need lessons on how to talk to people and interact with a fandom because I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Maybe I'm not commenting on as many posts as I thought I was. Should I just dm people? I'm also not sure what questions I should ask about their characters. How does this work?
I was told that I should continue posting about my OCs but no one ever looks at them or responds except one person 🥺 You know who you are and I love you so much for that! But I wish more people were interested in my characters...interested in me. The person that even said that doesn't even look at my stuff. What am I supposed to do in this community if no one cares?
I'm working on an art of my MC Sophronia and I guarantee when I post this art they're going to like it and complement it as if they haven't fucking ignored me the entire time. Why am I not noticed or taken seriously in this community? How come I only have two friends? Why are they so nice when I comment on their posts about their characters and they never express interest in my characters or ask about them. I have six as of now....do I need to be an rp whore and rp with everyone I come across? do I need to suck up to them and tell them that they are gods? My brain is fried and I can't think of anything anymore.
Maybe I should just draw for another fandom. I can at least try once (outside of anime) and see how it goes.

An X-Files expert on the show’s enduring appeal – 30 years on
by Bethan Jones, Research Associate at the University of York
Tumblr media
On September 10 1993 the pilot episode of The X-Files aired. Thirty years later to the day, I was at a convention centre in Minneapolis with 500 other fans and the show’s creator, Chris Carter, celebrating its legacy.
Ostensibly a show about aliens, The X-Files swiftly became part of the cultural lexicon and remains there to this day. In part its success was down to the chemistry of its two leads – David Duchovny, who played FBI Special Agent Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson, who played FBI Special Agent Dana Scully. After all, it was the X-Files fandom that invented the term “shipping” (rooting for characters to get together romantically).
But, as I argue in my new book, The Truth Is Still Out There: Thirty Years of The X-Files, what really made the series successful was its ability to tap into contemporary cultural moments and ask us to really think about the times we’re living in.
When the series began in 1993, the US was still grappling with the effects of Watergate and the Vietnam war, but concerns were also rising about the approaching millennium and the economic and cultural divisions within US society. It also coincided with Bill Clinton becoming president – marking the end of more than a decade of Republican leadership.
It’s little surprise that fears about immigration, globalisation, national identity and technology emerged and were adopted – and sometimes foreshadowed – by The X-Files’ writers. Several episodes throughout the first nine seasons dealt with artificial technology, for example, and Eve, an episode in season one about clones, came four years before the birth of Dolly the Sheep.
Critical theorist Douglas Kellner argued in 1994 that The X-Files “generated distrust toward established authority, representing institutions of government and the established order as highly flawed, even complicit in the worst crimes and evil imaginable”. Though I’d argue it was less that the show generated this distrust and more that it leveraged the growing number of reports about the government’s secretive activities to inspire its storylines.
Tumblr media
As the public became more aware of the government’s role in – and surveillance of – public life, so too The X-Files considered the ways in which technology could be used as a means of control.
In the season three episode Wetwired, for example, a device attached to a telephone pole emits signals that tap into people’s paranoid delusions and lead them to kill. And in the season six episode, SR 819, a character’s circulatory system fails because he has been infected with nanotechnology controlled by a remote device belonging to a shadow government.
These themes reflected growing concerns about government agencies using technology to both spy on and influence the public.
The X-Files’ enduring appeal
During my X-Files research, carried out with viewers after a revival was announced in 2015, it became clear that the show has remained part of the cultural lexicon. As one fan explained: “The cultural context of conspiracy theories has changed since the beginning of X-Files. Nowadays, every pseudoscience documentary uses similar soundtrack and narrative.”
Of course, the X-Files didn’t invent conspiracy theories, but as one of the show’s writers and producers, Jim Wong, points out, it did “tap into something that was more or less hidden in the beginning when we were doing it”.
youtube
The focus on the rise of the alt-right, disinformation and fake news in seasons 10 and 11 seemed like a logical angle from which to approach the changing cultural context the revival came into. Carter and his co-writers dove straight in to what Guardian critic Mark Lawson calls “a new era of governmental paranoia and public scepticism”, fuelled by the 2008 financial crisis, the fall out of the war on terror and scores of political scandals.
Season 10 saw the introduction of a right-wing internet talk show host who argues that 9/11 was a “false flag operation” and that the mainstream liberal media lie to Americans about life, liberty and the right to bear arms. The parallels to conspiracy theorists like Alex Jones and Glenn Beck were obvious.
Carter’s incorporation of topics like surveillance, governments’ misuse of power and methods of social control meant that seasons ten and 11 were very much situated in the contemporary moment. This is perhaps most obvious in the season 11 episode, The Lost Art of Forehead Sweat, which deals with the disinformation of the Trump era head on. The episode’s protagonist, Dr. They, tells Mulder that “no one can tell the difference anymore between what’s real and what’s fake”.
While The X-Files’ search for the truth in the 1990s may have ultimately been a philosophical endeavour, in the 21st century it is a commentary on how emotion and belief can be more influential than objective facts.
Watching the show again while researching my book, I was struck by how it was dated predominantly by its lack of technology, rather than the ideas it expresses. In the second season episode Ascension, Mulder pulls a phone book off a shelf in his search for Scully – now we’d use Google. But in other aspects the show remains as relevant today as it was in the 1990s, encouraging us to think about the big questions relating to faith, authority and truth.

Okay so the biggest book bf in the KOLTC fandom is Keefe. Which fine, whatever. I get it. HOWEVER, I have been a Tam girl since I got into this damn series (early 2018, so basically six years).
Here is my list of reasons:
- Loyal: Stayed by Linh’s side for YEARS even when he himself was never banished. He easily could have remained in the Lost Cities but he decided to go with her and help her survive.
- Shrewd: I’m sorry, but his ability to look at situations and or people and just figure them out immediately is unmatched. He is ALWAYS the first person to have an idea on how to get from point A to point B. (Ex: In Nightfall he was the first one to suggest speaking to the original guards from Lumenaria. AND he did it while being respectful towards the goblins who died in the attack. So add respectful onto this list!)
- Strong: I don’t mean this in the physical way (though it’s undeniable that he isn’t physically strong. Never forget that he’s both well versed in skills AND can use shadow flux) I mean that in the way he’s been through a lot but still comes out on top. (Ex: The entirety of Legacy)
- Responsible: He carries around snacks, is always asking if everyone is okay, and is usually the first person to be like “RED FLAG” when someone is suspicious. If I had to go an adventure with anyone in there group, it’s him.
Anyway, there’s definitely more than just this. Especially if I started using quote evidence from scenes, but I also don’t want to look insane. Just know that he was my first true fictional crush (like, the first one I seriously obsessed over. We all have one of those, right?) and I still love him.
One day I promise I’ll post how much of an actual mess I was because of what happened to him at the end of Flashback and throughout Legacy.

tagged in '20 questions for fic writers' by my good pal @chiropteracupola! ty friend :3 (i think much of this will be similar to the last one of these i did. Oh Whale.)
1. how many works do you have on ao3?
29!
2. what’s your total ao3 word count?
145,559
3. what fandoms do you write for?
i have never written for one fandom Consistently but i suppose at the moment the fandom occupying most of my time is the old Team Fortress 2. but like mine and @chiropteracupola's Old Timey version (shoutout to you flintlock fortress <3). but i also have been somewhat plugging away at an rls kidnapped fic so
4. what are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Out Of the Blue (detroit: become human/detroit evolution)
Take it From the Top (detroit: become human/detroit evolution)
Cardamine (detroit: become human)
I Loved You, I Always Do (detroit: become human/detroit evolution)
Cigarettes and Outer Space (detroit: become human/detroit evolution)
i am. Noticing A Trend lmao (also not one but Two richard edwards lyrics titles. hmm.)
5. do you respond to comments? why or why not?
sooooometimes? occasionally i am moved by the desire to Empty Out My Inbox, at which point i reply to all the unread comments in there, but otherwise i normally reply to comments by friends and comments on more recent fics. the older stuff, especially the de artfest stuff, gets more frequently ignored lmao (although someone commented the loveliest thing the other day on one of those fics <3)
6. what is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
there are several in contention for this! (i feel) an overwhelming need (the moors) is a character study from a very upsetting play wherein the protagonist is literally eaten at the end, which is A Bit Not Good. i can't stand to see you bleed (the wolf and the watchman) has a more ambiguous ending but also ends with the distinct possibility that cecil will just straight up Die a few minutes off page and everyone is very sad about it. blizzard of pumice piled six feet high (goncharov) does of course end with mutually assured destruction and a fun little murder-suicide-murder situation that they are both resignedly sad about. there are a couple others that Are Angsty but not so much as these i think
7. what’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
once again, a couple options here! first is leave your body at the door (killjoys), which is a huge epic of legacy and mourning and ends with a bittersweet but also incredibly triumphant chapter about love and family. much as the ending itself is tinged with sadness, considering the amount of Torment we had to get through to wind up there puts this fic on the map for this category! alsoooo i think The (G)Hosts of Satellite's Past (mystery science theater 3000) gets up there, because it's basically just. tooth-rottingly sweet found family nonsense in space
8. do you get hate on fics?
not that i can remember? but it's also entirely possible i've just deleted a few of those comments and subsequently forgotten about them lmao. although it must be said that someone commented on my mst3k fic being VERY NITPICKY about my adherence to the given canon of the show and the liveshows and the livestreams and i'm like. bitch. i have not watched every livestream ever and i do not pay attention to the liveshows. also the show's canon can't agree with itself leave me alone shshjsjhs
9. do you write smut? if so, what kind?
uhhh i did a couple times at one point? but that was many years ago and it was never published. nowadays i've almost considered it exclusively for The Bit (ie relationships where I Think It Would Be Terribly Funny) but also The Bit has not yet overcome my Anxiety and Lack Of Skill. buuuut i will occasionally write The Craziest Metaphorical Shit You Will Ever See. meaning. that cannibalism is also an allegory y'know?
10. do you write crossovers? what’s the craziest one you’ve written?
i've certainly pondered many in my time but i'm unsure i've actually published any— WAIT I JUST REMEMBERED SPYTOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF THAT SENTENCE. whoopsies. so yes! i do! i've only published one of them and it was a spies are forever/hadestown crossover that got Massively bigger than i ever intended (so much fanart! curt mega saw one of the pieces! hadestown official put one of the pieces on their story! shoutout to all you lovely artists and writers! @szollibisz / @considerablecolors / @teethworm / @owen-not-carvour <333333). there is also an Ancient artifact buried in my google docs that hasn't seen the light of day that's. a voltron: legendary defender/crazyhead crossover? to date it's one of my longest incomplete works and rereading it, despite how old it is, is remarkably pleasant like i was possessed by some sort of Good At Writing gremlin and it's surprisingly good. wonder if i should dredge some of that monstrosity up someday.....
11. have you ever had a fic stolen?
not that i know of? but also i'm not sure why i Would know that
12. have you ever had a fic translated?
if i have, no one has credited me or informed me of it
13. have you ever co-written a fic before?
in terms of unpublished works, i have written So many fics with @nico-demons, since we were cringey middle schoolers together, but when looking at what's actually on my ao3, the only collaboration is with @chiropteracupola! while we don't actually share documents writing our flintlock fortress works, we have a massive shared bank of Lore and double check with each other constantly while we're working on our fics. so it's co-written not in practicality, but in literally every other capactiy
14. what’s your all time favourite ship?
o god i never have an answer for this. i cycle through fandoms so quickly it's hard for ships to have a huge staying power? but given that we're entering year two of this ship in earnest and year like. seven. of this ship in a half-pondered capacity, i'm gonna have to give it to joel robinson/mike nelson of mystery science theater! they will never ever leave my head!!!!!
15. what’s a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
oof i have a Couple of these. first and foremost is contagion (gravity falls), a monster falls/timeskip gravity falls concept that i plotted SO MUCH OF and then got so intimidated by i could only write a couple pages before feeling like whatever i wrote wouldn't match up with what i'd been imagining. much as i'd love to muscle through someday and actually get the concept down, i find it Unlikely that'll ever actually happen. same with a joel/mike mst3k fic concept that i've been kicking around for a couple years surrounding mike's return to earth and trying to find joel again. once again, i got out over my skis and got so scared of executing the concept it's hard for me to imagine i ever get to it shjshjs
16. what are your writing strengths?
i've been told on numerous occasions that i'm really good at mimicking character voice (and possibly author voice, but that's usually more secondary)! i have a very sound and rhythm based memory, so writing dialogue has always been a strong point of mine, as i can basically hear what the character would be saying in their way of saying it. i also consider myself really good at crafting well thought out/intricate plots!
17. what are your writing weaknesses?
FINISHING THINGS. JESUS CHRIST. i'm so bad at mustering any sort of followthrough on projects that are either longer than my usual or i've been working on past a couple of weeks of inspiration. a part of this i'm Sure is the adhd but also i'm miserable at writing anything to completion past a few one shots.
18. thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
depends on the context, depends on the language. flintlock fortress in particular has characters of Many Nationalities coming together in a very specific context? thus far i've been rather loath to write extended sections of dialogue in other languages, but i can usually manage small sections, especially french (took it for three years in high school and apparently Something stuck). otherwise i tend to skirt around it or double check with people more familiar with it
19. first fandom you wrote for?
i was discussing this with @chiropteracupola the other day actually!! my first fic Ever saved to my google drive is a wild kratts/my little pony crossover! and i would continue to cross mlp over with Many Things! so i would say my little pony was my first written-for fandom, purely based on the fact that it served as such frequent crossover material
20. favourite fic you’ve written?
this is an interesting one! i have a few fics that have a special place in my heart for different reasons. i'm incredibly fond of Try Again, Die Again (detroit: become human/detroit evolution) because i felt insanely clever and actually managed to execute the concept i wanted in a way that was very close to what i originally imagined. it's one of my more action-packed stories and upon rereading it i'm actually still really proud of it. another one i'm extraordinarily fond of is strangely enough Where The Sun Can't Find Me (spies are forever), which is a short little werewolf!curt one shot! just the right amount of Meat to appeal to me and i really like the prose style i went with for it. honorable mention once more goes to leave your body at the door (killjoys) but i've talked about her already so. Moving On. lastly i loooove don't give it a hand, offer it a soul (team fortress 2/haunted by your hand crossover), because it's a Ghost Story and Ghost Romance and A Little Gross and Full Of Sadness. what fun what fun :3
taggin'! @nico-demons, @firstmatedville, @considerablecolors, @natdrinkstea, and @wilhelmina-murray-harker :3

Saw you say recently that you felt a bit like a bull in a china shop in the bs fandom and I just wanted to reassure you that you're absolutely fine. We've seen a lot of discourse, John Silver is a hotly debated and incredibly divisive character especially through the lens of the finale, and I'm fairly sure when the finale first aired that wars broke out. (I am always grateful I wasn't around for that period.) And even your comments on how Madi's agency was handled, the racist and sexist undertones of the end, are brought up by loving fans. We have a dead dove channel in our discord server exactly for those types of discussions.
This is very much a fandom that went "oh this show is complex, huh" and then proceeded to put on their literary analysis glasses and hold a Thomas Hamilton-style salon over any and all aspects of it. (...Once we get over our emotional breakdowns of course.) Anyway, I'm glad you're bringing some of these topics back through your live watch thoughts. Your afterthoughts are even more fascinating - at least to me, once you were completely done I thought "oh, that's it then" and mourned a little for how your love for the show seemed to be killed. But now I'm seeing further afterthoughts and really, I should've known there would be more thoughts, bc this show refuses to let go of a person once it's solidly dug in its claws.
Anyway. What was my point? Oh yeah. Thank you for sharing all your thoughts, emotions and reactions. The positive, negative, critical, all of it. Fandoms can always use a critical eye, and I feel like this fandom in particular has plenty of people (not necessarily all, but definitely a lot) who are welcoming of it! It's good for the fandom ecosystem
Oh what a really kind message!! Thank you for putting things in context - that the discourse has been here since from six years ago (when the last episode must've aired).
I still love the show, loved the show even when I was like I am DONE IT"S OVER I refuse to watch the last twennny minnitts nooooo (have still refused). It's because Flint is freshly dead. Flint died on Lunar New Year 2024 and I can't have his killers (John Silver and Jack Rackham, in different ways) talk in my face right now. Maybe when I'm done grieving I can put my big girl panties back on (uhh in this metaphor I am weeping with my bare ass out I guess) and watch the rest of it.
I saw the various gifsets of Thomas and James embracing and art based on that moment throughout my liveblog, and what I had thought was that it was James' hallucination as he lay dying or something, where he imagines the afterlife as a place where you try to fruitlessly farm your legacy in a place nothing will grow, but at least Thomas will be there. He wouldn't think Miranda wants to see him in the afterlife because he caused her death directly, but Thomas was killed by his father and so he wouldn't necessarily be angry with Flint.
But then to have SILVER narrate it the way he does using phrases like he unmade Flint and he returned him to his original state and so on was an exceptionally cruel blow.
I really dislike having feelings, so it takes me a really long time to actually have them, and work through them. And Black Sails is, in a very rare way for television that I've experienced, a work of art, so I expect to be resonating about it for a really long time.

gently tosses you Fenris and Sebastian for the character meme
Carefully catches them both, but Fenris is kinda prickly and I fumble him a lil bit.
(Thank you for asking! c:)
(Character Ask thing)
Fenris
First impression: oh fuck did he just rip that dude's heart out through his back 😳(i am absolutely projecting this reaction onto Maria haha)
Impression now: I mean. there's no going back at this point lol. Dude altered my brain chemistry permanently. He is an asshole, he is deeply flawed, he is so hurt and angry and funny and so shockingly poetic. He is gorgeous and so unsure about anyone caring about him (platonically or romantically). He is loyal to a fault. He is still figuring out how to be his own person. He's the reason I got back into reading fic, and thus the reason I started writing fic and participating in the fandom at all. I don't even know what my opinion is anymore because that is how much I have thought about Fenris. I am rotating him in my mind at shocking speeds.
Favorite moment: It's a tie between the moment after he rips out Danarius's heart and turns to look at Hawke like 🥺-and- his final monologue. I also think his conversation w the mabari is really sweet. Or lol his "I was just glad. To see you. That's all." from the Legacy DLC
Idea for a story: *gestures to fic idea mountain* haha. But as for ones I have not written, my favorites are my "worst road trip with my future sister-in-law ever/fenris gets kidnapped" story (which i am writing very slowly rn) and one where there's some sort of double of Hawke and he has to determine which is the real her (I love this trope)
Unpopular opinion: Oh man. I have no idea. I guess that I enjoy the Bitter Pill -> Questioning Beliefs quest order version of the romance scene, but I also like the other one. There are painful pieces to both of them and that's what it's all about for me.
Favorite relationship: Fenris and Isabela. I love that they're constantly needling each other.
Favorite headcanon: The bodies in his foyer are practice dummies dressed in robes.
As funny as "Fenris lives in a literal mansion of corpses is," that level of squalor does, in fact, make you sick. Also...after six years, there are no signs of decomposition? With how many rats are sure to live in Kirkwall? I don't think so.
I like to imagine someone broke in at some point, saw the corpses on the floor, said "oh, no thank you, actually" and dipped, and Fenris went "Hmm. Now wait a moment, maybe I'm onto something."
So: that's my headcanon. The bodies are fake and he lets everyone think they're real/everyone jokes that they're real because it's a good bit. Now, does he leave his bedroom a hot hot mess always just because? Yes. But I think the bodies are fake.
Sebastian
*With the caveat that I have only started one pt with Sebastian because my console hates me (has to be plugged into an internet port directly to run the Exiled Prince DLC and there isn't one in the room with the TV) and most of my initial information was based on the fandom:
First impression: Ah, he must be the designated Religious Character for this game as a counterpoint to the dude who hates the Chantry. Got it.
Impression now: I am shaking him in a jar. He is such a wild study in contrasts?? When you do the quest in the Hahriman's mansion and one of the dudes is getting with the maid and Sebastian apologizes to Hawke for exposing them to it---I said "Excuse me, sir???" out loud. Like what? In a ~dark fantasy~ game, this guy is apologizing for you seeing some slap and tickle?
I think he wants so badly to believe that the world is black and white so he can do the right thing, and when confronted with all its variegations instead he creates exceptions. Lots of other characters do this, too (see: Fenris and Hawke/Bethany being "good" mages because they are stronger than the others and thus not tempted by demons/blood magic) but I think Sebastian particularly plays in the grey spaces in an interesting way.
Also, I think the running theme of him wanting vengeance/wanting to not want vengeance is fascinating in the light of that final scene at the Chantry. He's talked about trying to forgive before, but when it comes down to it he wants to kill Anders or march on Kirkwall if you won't let him. That is fascinating to me. I do really want to finish this playthrough with him so I can see the rest of it play out, but...we will get there.
Also, I think it's a bummer that he frequently gets left out of companion round-ups and lists. I get that he comes from a DLC, but love him or hate him he's a really interesting character in 2.
Favorite moment: I don't have a favorite, but anytime he's talking tbh. He has a really lovely voice
Idea for a story: I have a half-written thing about Sebastian and the role that faith plays in Hawke recovering from Leandra's death. A lot of it is coming to terms with the fact that Hawke doesn't really believe in Chantry doctrine...but it does genuinely help her to know that someone who shared Leandra's faith is praying for her in the way she would have wanted. He also does the service for Leandra even though Elthina offered (it was like. the only thing Hawke asked for: Sebastian has to do the service).
(A lot of this is inspired by the fact that he is one of the few companions who has lost his parents---not "never knew them" or "hated them and now they're gone" but actually lost them, complicated as their relationship was. And I think it's something that would help her in that moment)
Unpopular opinion: I liked bringing him on Anders' act 2 quest. Not only because of my own internal narrative (Maria asks Sebastian to kill her if it seems like the templars will take her because she is terrified of being made Tranquil and because she knows he'll do it if she can make him promise; all of which I find delightfully angsty) but because I think the conflict between Anders and Sebastian is exceptionally interesting if you've taken them on this quest together.
Favorite relationship: Sebastian and Fenris. I think they each challenge each other's ideas about the world and I like the way Sebastian treats Fenris. It feels nonjudgmental to me.
Favorite headcanon: Sebastian wanders Lowtown trying to help people in his off time. I refuse to believe that he actually hangs out in the Chantry all the time, and it seems like something he would find noble. I like to believe he spends time with the refugees after befriending Hawke, trying to connect them with the resources they need to find stability.

I’m not a fan of you not praising my favorite character. They take up an entire 28 minutes of screen time of a 10+ hour streaming show that’s the least viewed media in the whole franchise. I love them because I really hate this other universally-loved, leading female legacy character that becomes soulmates with this other legacy guy character that’s super hot. My favorite character is supposed to be with him because I hate when women have any agency when they should only be important to men’s plots. It’s so vile and evil of you and this fandom to ignore an ex-gf character because you’re all accountable for how I feel. It’s not fair for a six year old fandom to not agree with all of my headcanons. I won’t write fanfiction or do other normal healthy things because I actually don’t really care about this character and just jealous that the hot guy is taken. So I bother people’s inboxes every month to force them to accept my hc’s. I think it’s working and I won’t rest.
lmao listen I also really wondered if the previous ask was the same anon as always, but I kinda felt it was too articulate when compared to the other nonsensical anons people received in the past. like the style and vibes just felt off? ofc it may be on purpose to throw us off, at this point who knows. it'd be pretty sad if there were two of them now....

2, 8, and 21 for the fic ask game!
2. Do you read/reread your own fics?
Oh, all the time! Usually when I go back to respond to a comment I'll reread that chapter if it's been a hot minute. I love throwing fic at people and making them scream, but in the end I write what I enjoy, so yeah. \o/
8. What project(s) are you currently working on?
Currently I'm full-steaming ahead on No Rest For The Weary because it had been a long time since I could write more than a few hundred words every, uh, year or so... and I'm sort of terrified at some point the muse will keel over again and I want to finish something. I am slowing down a bit as I near the end just because the chapters have become a lot more complicated (mmm masochistic authors who write six way fights with a bonus zombie horde and a sleepy turtle who wants to know what's with all these rude wakeup calls--) but I'm still determined on that score.
If I make it to the finish line (all signs are looking good!) then I'll pull up all my other unfinished projects and see what to work on next and if I can make a schedule to work on all of them a bit at a time. That's... Snowblind and Zaibatsu Project for Rurouni Kenshin, Misconduct for Final Fantasy VII, and Legacy, Desperation, and Court of Miracles for TMNT (various iterations). Plus a possible not-quite-sequel-but-set-after-NRFTW-verse plan. There's a lot! If Tumblr had given me polls by now I'd just poll Tumblr for interest, but it hasn't. >:T very rude honestly.
21. Have you ever deleted an entire scene after spending hours laboring over it? If so, why?
...hmm. Technically the only thing I've deleted after spending entire hours on it would be the entire first draft of my original novel attempt, because I started writing it when I was 18 and that was the draft I sent in application for a grant and Arts SA told me I should aim at small children. Then I reread it, realised it was awful, sat on it for another 10 years, and then finally worked out how I could make it work and started again from scratch. In the fandom world, I think I've only deleted lines at a time, retreating to a point and going in a different direction. My beta can tell you how often I've said "never trust the last line of what I've given you" because it often doesn't work and I half knew it but I just wanted to be done for the evening. But I think the most I've removed recently is about a page from the end of the last Donnie/Raph/Draxum scene where they work out the lair is under attack, because I got through that page and realised it was redundant; it made for better suspense to not spend extra time on a plan of what to do next, especially when their plan was going to be obvious from the other end when they finally enact it. I kept it anyway in a separate file just in case I need it for flashback or some such, but at this stage I don't think so.
Thank you for the questions, anon!
Fic ask questions are here.

Master List
I've wanted to support the fandom of the games, shows, or books I adore. Given to the situation with dorian I will write requests and some head cannons for last legacy and more. For now this is just to improve my writing skills. And some requests might take a while depending on the fandom or requests asked at the time. Please be considerate to others in comments and treat this as a safe place to relax and appreciate characters spending time with your OCs or yourself included.
Requests will always be open until I say otherwise or if I have to much college homework/ projects / tests to study for.
Like I said I will write for the following that I have list below:
Last legacy or other fictif stories
Arcana Mystic Romance
Twisted Wonderland Game
Obey Me Game
Vampire diaries
Fate grand order (some characters)
Six of crows
BTS
Persona 3, 4, and 5
Our Life Game
A date with death game
(Also, willing to add OC for personal requests.)
Do Not Request:
Heavy NSFW (I'll try to do some slight NSFW/SFW but nothing more than some sexy jokes or touch starved moments).
Racist actions or comments.
Phobias of anything or anyone (I just feel I can't write that accurately at the moment).
Abuse of any kind or abusive kink intentions.
No more self-harm or suicidal intentions on any characters or OCs.
Bullying or cheating.
Anything I see as inappropriate this point forward. Or feel uncomfortable writing or that could offend or hurt others.
If you're offended/hurt by any writing I post in the future, please let me know so I can re-edit to be more comfortable to read. However, I will put warnings or highlights, if needed on any post that I sense is a heavy topic for others. Thanks for reading this post! Goodbye and have a nice day or night!
P.s.: Any hate comments or haters can leave. If you don't like my content. Fine, have a nice day. Do not bully any followers or non-followers.

Yangs hair
Bumbleby is a fun fandom because, unlike most shippers, they'll be calm as hell if the two get a kiss
At least it'll seem calm compared to if Blake touches Yang's hair, which would set the whole damn fandom on fire for fucking months
Thats why Bumbleby fandom in unique, because they explode over small shit like the hug, or the slight hold in the Atlas vault.
So just wait for the big shit, if they don't get a kiss next season hope for a hair touch.

Kyoshi: Let me get this straight, you liked Hei-Ran?
Kuruk: I fucking loved that women when I was like, i don't know, nineteen?
Kyoshi: And now let me realize that I'm dating her daughter? Your letting me? No protest?
Kuruk: Of course. If I can't pull the mother then your supposed to continue my legacy!
Kyoshi: Hold the fuck up---
Yangchen: He's right.
Kyoshi: What????
Yangchen: I at one point in my life banged Rangi's grandmother. It's a cycle Kyoshi. It's a fucking cycle and you will complete it.
Kyoshi: WHAT
Kuruk: You did? That's awesome!
Yangchen: I even foresee that our future selves will not only marry a fire nation noble, but another will also be a fire prince's best friend, and another will be with a rich fire nation girl.

#Leteveryonesayfuck
The fact that Tyrian got away with screaming "BITCH" at the top of his lungs, but Glynda wasn't aloud to tell James that he treated everything like a dick length contest, Torchwick wasn't aloud to yell fuck, grandma wasn't aloud to say bitch, and Robyn "vigilante politician" Hill wasn't aloud to say bullshit.
The fact that Robyn was really a T away from it tho.
She's the only character to have almost gotten away with saying shit. No seriously.
Every other character in the show says crap.
And credit to Qrow for being the first one to say damn and even cuss in general.
Credit to literally everyone in the After The Fall book because they say damn like every other four words.
Kudos to Ironwood for saying ass first and Emerald for saying AssES first.
Tyrian said bitch so applaud the man.
And courtesy of @mercuryj15 I have been reminded that Yang said bastard.
And final statement, I named this post after a comment made by @idkwhatimdoingsometimes

Random RWBY Headcanon's Part Maybe Six
Headcanon and idea time.
Yang and Ruby can have a fully functioning conversation with upwards of seven people at a time all while capturing each other in headlocks, elbowing each other, and full-on boxing matches.
Every time Weiss, Yang, or Ruby even speaks about the trials and tribulations of having siblings Blake becomes a thousand times happier she's an only child.
Blake can drink almost anyone under the table. It's actually just a natural thing due to her being a Faunus but no one else needs to know that.
Weed is legal in Patch but not so much in central Vale, so Yang, Ruby, and a bunch of other Patch kids got very crafty about it.
Every student and teacher alike is aware that every Patch kid has a stash but there so impossible to find it's like a scavenger hunt. If you can actually find a stash then by all means it's all yours because you must have spent weeks trying to find it.
Weiss once offhandedly mentions how much one of her dresses costs and it has orphans Ren and Nora stumbling, not to mention Blake who's spent a few years as a criminal who sets up camp in the woods like Weiss had them cracking inside.
Everyone places bets on a Ruby vs Pyrrha fight that never ends up happening. They just wanna see the young prodigy and the pride of Mistral fight each other that's it.
The dance was far from Jaune's first time in a dress.

My #1 post of 2022
if Anya grows up
Yeah sure, maybe Spy X Family is just a wholesome ass show about a spy father, assassin mother, and telepath kid.
Eventually that kid grows up tho, and honest to god, what the fuck are you gonna do if a telepath --who weirdly has renowned spy Twlight's intellect and the top assassin Thorn Princess' physical ability-- comes running at you?
What do you even do about that
Like ah shit, Imma try an outsmart her. Nice try bro but she's Twilight's kid, she may have failed all her classes but she's the best tactician in the world and she can read your mind.
What are you gonna do now? Fistfight? Better try amigo but she throws hands rivaling the gods and she knows everything your gonna do the moment you think about it.
Seriously if we get anything with an older Anya, like bro, no one can do anything about her. She is a fucking menace to society and there is nothing anyone can do about that, if you a threat to world peace than say goodbye because your free trial on life has ended
in addition she could probably have Yuri's skills at intimidation too, and then you really have no options

Hi! i'm new to the tumblr kotlc fandom (but i've been a fan of the books for years) and i checked out your character ask game. it doesn't look like you've done alden yet, so i wanted to know what you think of his character and development, and specifically your thoughts on the Alden Neverseen theory. the theory is that alden is the unknown telepath in the Neverseen and the behind-the-scenes leader, which could explain some unrevealed plot points (like what the vacker legacy actually is, cause the troll breeding was sorta anticlimactic imo) and some of his more questionable actions (like why prentice called swan song before getting mind-broken, or why he was using fitz and alvar --fitz was six, mind you!--to search for sophie when ninety-five percent of the elven world didn't believe she even existed pre-series).
disclaimer, i haven't read stellarlune yet, so idk if said leader/telepath is revealed already! (i've ordered it but it hasn't arrived yet)
Hello Val! It's so nice to meet you, I'm relatively new to the kotlc tumblr fandom as well so I'm glad that you went to me to check out my ask game! Alden is such an interesting character and you gave me a lot to talk about :)
(Sorry this took so long! For all I know, you might have finished Stellarlune by now, but in case you haven't, there won't be any spoilers in this. Alden isn't really in Stellarlune at all, and I honestly can't recall any times when he's even mentioned, so I know just as much as you do about his involvement)
This got long so I'm putting it under a cut
My honest opinion of them: I honestly got whiplash from how fast I went from liking Alden to not liking him. Like a lot of people, I started disliking him when I read the Keefe short story, but then I began to realize how messed up were lots of the other things he'd done. You mentioned a lot of them, but I'll add some: Asking a young girl who'd only been in their world for less than a year to help him with a very traumatic assignment, never apologizes to Prentice after his mind is healed even though Alden's mind broke because of his guilt, and he was denied Spyball approval. (Also, the way he calls her "good girl" always makes my skin crawl.) I think he's a really fascinating character with a lot of depth and complexity that hasn't been explored- and I think that theory would show a lot of that depth.
Who (if anyone) I ship with them: I tend to respect when characters are married/established together in books, so Della I guess? Even though she is way too good for him. And though I don't ship him and Alina, I think their backstory is really interesting and adds a lot of drama.
And what I think will happen with them in the next book(s): I actually really support the Alden-is-the-Neverseen-leader theory that you discussed. You described it really well, but it would explain a lot of his questionable actions. I think the likelihood of him being the Telepath that erased Keefe's memories is very strong. I think that this theory is very plausible- especially now that Alvar is kinda just... gone. For the most part, I think it would be fascinating for Fitz's character more than Alden's. To see how he reacted to his father betraying the family after everything he went through with Alvar would be a chance for some incredible depth. I also think the Vacker legacy will be revealed, and as for predictions on what that is, I have absolutely no clue. You're right when you say the troll breeding was anticlimactic, and I think that's probably only part of the true Vacker legacy (if it's at all related). I also think there's a suspicious amount of connections between him and Kenric, especially how you mention Prentice calling Swan Song. A theory I have that's very not thought out and just a theory is that Prentice discovered Alden's involvement and that's why he called Swan Song before his mind break, and then maybe Kenric discovered it as well and that's why he was killed. In short, I think there's been way too much foreshadowing for him involved in something for him to be as little involved in the last book as he was in Stellarlune. At this point, it might feel a bit anticlimactic for him to be the true leader, but I think that might just be because everyone's been theorizing that for such a long time/had such a long time to think about it. At least, I know that if it had been revealed at the end of, say, Legacy, I would have had no idea it was coming.
Send me any KOTLC character for the ask game!
Thank you so much for this ask! I had such a fun time answering it, and it's great to meet you! (Sorry again that it took so long but don't hesitate to send me more asks if you have them!)

Hi! It's your gifter here. I just got my assignment for the Autumn Exchange and I am obsessed with your prompt.
I have a few questions.
Since it is autumn themed- I'm leaning in towards more of a spooky story. Your tag said Alternate Universe - Cannon Divergence. Are you okay with the story not being set in the TVD universe? Or do you want it to be set within the show? If you're okay with AU- how do you feel about historical?
You put horror for a tag- how do you feel about ghosts?
Also- no character bashing- would you consider making a character the bad guy in the story (i.e Mikael, Esther, Katherine...) be a villain fo the story character bashing. I just want to double check.
Finally- Friendzoline. Thats Enzo and Caroline friendship, right?
Hi, gifter!!! Thanks for reaching out and I'm so glad you could work with that. I wasn't sure if I was being too vague!
My preference is usually for canon divergence when I'm reading fic. Like canon to a point and then wild offshoots from there, but I'm fine with other stuff. I didn't check off Originals is canon just because I dislike pregnancy/baby stories and kid fic. But I do love teenagers, and while Legacies was hilariously bad, Hope/Lizzie lives in my soul. So, if you want to go for totally post-canon, I'm down with that, too.
I'd prefer not historical if it's human. But if there's an all non-human historical idea that's really moving you, go for it. I'm just mostly not into all human AUs.
I die for horror. Literally die. In a horrific way. I love cosmic horror, ghosty stuff, horror-comedy, and eschatological horror best. My favorite horror movies are Ravenous (1999), Event Horizon, I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, and the Hellraiser series, if that helps at all. Loved Midnight Mass on Netflix, too.
Yeah, Friendzoline is Caroline and Enzo friendship. I've only watched TVD through mid season six, so I missed all of the betrayal.
Character Bashing Soapbox
or
An Exploration of My Lingering Trauma from Doctor Who Fandom
I consider bashing an unreasonable negative handling of a character that doesn't serve the story. It's cruel, usually done to female characters, and often used as a diss track aimed at fans of those characters. I love villains being villainous. They SHOULD act like villains. Katherine is so much fun, and yeah, she has reasons, but she did some truly evil shit in the name of self-preservation in canon. It's not unreasonable to write her that way in fic. It's unreasonable to write Cami as nothing but a punching bag for the author. She's not stupid or ugly or whatever. She's a (not very well, yes) realized character in her own right.
Again, thanks so much, and if you have any other questions/concerns/thoughts, please don't hesitate to reach out.
ETA: creepy folklore! I forgot about that. I'm super into creepy folklore, too.

Results of Opinion on Dream + Hermits MCC Team Up Survey
Hello everyone! 401 responses were collected for this survey over the course of six days (22 September 2021 - 28 September 2021). Without further ado, let’s get started! (Warning: It’s like 3000 words long haha)
Question 1: What is your general opinion on Dream + Hermits team up?
Tumblr media
“Please I’ve been begging for this for five hundred years, Scott Major I am begging” took up 15% (60 responses), “Yes please” had 24.7% (99 responses), “Neutral / no opinion” had 23.7% (95 responses), “Not my thing” had 17% (68 responses), “Dislike it” had 13.2% (53 responses), and finally “OH GOD PLEASE NO. I will jump into fire if this happens” had 6.5% (26 responses).
Counting “Not my thing” as a negative response, 39.7% of participants viewed the team positively, 23.7% had no opinion, 36.6% viewed the team negatively. Around a quarter of participants were neutral, while the amount of people who viewed the team positively or negatively were around the same. It is safe to say participants of this survey are divided on this topic.
Of course, there are varying intensities to liking and disliking this team, which is why I put down one option for extreme like and one for extreme dislike. As expected, the “extreme dislike” option was chosen the least (6.5%), and the “extreme like” option was chosen the third least (15%). It should be noted that around 46% of participants who viewed the team negatively (68 out of 147 participants) chose the “Not my thing” option, which is the least intense in terms of dislike. People who actually “hate” this team are in the minority.
Question 2: Which one of the below do you use the most for MCYT fandom activity?
Majority of participants chose “Tumblr” (83.3%, 334 responses), followed by “Twitter” (6.7%, 27 responses), “Reddit” (3.7%, 15 responses), and “Discord” (2.5%, 10 responses). Other responses include YouTube, Instagram, and Tik Tok.
From my own experience, Twitter users tend to hate this team, Reddit users tend to love this team, Tumblr users are a mixed bag. So with Tumblr users dominating this survey, I didn’t think it was a surprise that the results of Question 1 were rather balanced.
Question 3: What SMPs do you regularly watch? (Participants could tick all that apply)
92.5% of participants watched Hermitcraft (371 responses), 86.3% of participants watched 3rd Life SMP / Last Life SMP (346 responses), 56.1% watched Dream SMP / adjacent (225 responses), 43.9% watched Empires SMP (176 responses), 15.4% watched Vault Hunters SMP (62 responses). Other SMPs include Legacy SMP, Truly Bedrock, Bear SMP, Origins SMP, HBG SMP, Shady Oaks SMP etc etc but there were only a few responses for each of them. I had some responses saying they didn’t watch DSMP lore but followed DSMP members (eg. SBI).
Majority of participants are familiar with Hermitcraft and 3rd Life / Last Life, with over half watching DSMP / adjacent. Empires SMP, which has an overlap with 3rd Life, is also popular. People also watched Vault Hunters, a project started by the hermit Iskall.
Question 4: When did you start watching / being invested in MCC?
I divided the options into “MCC1 to MCC3” “MCC4 to MCC8” “MCC9 to MCC13” “MCC14 to present”. MCC4 was a turning point in which many well-known participants were invited and became regulars, and was also the MCC in which SBI won. MCC9/10 was regarded as when MCC became more balanced/ competitive, and I put that down because the hermits won MCC9, so Hermitcraft fans might suddenly have an interest in MCC post MCC9. MCC14 is the beginning of MCC Season 2.
37.4% respondents (150 responses) answered “MCC9 to MCC13”, 33.7% (135 responses) answered “MCC4 to MCC8”, 21.7% (87 responses) answered “MCC14 to present”, 7.2% (29 responses) answered “MCC1 to MCC3”. A whopping 78.3% of participants answered MCC Season 1.
Question 5: Who is your favourite among the below?
Tumblr media
(Colours in the graph are edited :3)
The choices are (in no particular order): Dream, Technoblade, Fruitberries, Pete, Quig, Sapnap, Illumina, HBomb, I don’t know any of these people. These are the agreed-on top players in MCC, known by some as the “S Tiers”.
Predictably, Technoblade had the most votes with a whopping 40.9% (164 reponses), followed by HBomb with 18.7% (75 responses), then Pete with 11.7% (47 responses), and Dream narrowly behind with 11% (44 responses). The top three voted players have all played with the hermits, with Pete in particular known for being a regular hermit teammate in MCC S2.
Shoutout to the one (1) person who said Quig, you are so valid.
Question 6: Who is your favourite active hermit?
Tumblr media
(Colours in the graph are edited :3)
Predictably, Grian has more than a quarter of the votes with 28.9% (116 responses), then Scar at 13.7% (55 responses), and Etho at 8.7% (35 responses). As for the MCC hermits, in addition to Grian’s 28.9% / 116 responses, Ren has 4.2% (17 responses), Gem has 3.7% (15 responses), False has 3.2% (13 responses), Pearl has 2.5% (10 responses), and Cub has 0.7% (3 responses). From this, you can clearly see the disparity in popularity among the MCC hermits, with Grian having an obvious lead and everyone else at around the same level. Although do remember that I made everyone choose one hermit only, thus this is not wholly representative.
Question 7: What is your favourite Hermit MCC team?
Tumblr media
(Colours in the graph are edited :3)
You saw it right! MCC 9 Blue Bats have been DETHRONED! Oh, the scandal! /j
The beloved PinkP21 leads with 30.9% (124 responses), followed by the still-relevant-after-a-year Blue9 with 23.2% (93 responses), and the most recent hermit winning team Orange17 with 18.7% (75 responses). Then we have Purple15 with 6.5% (25 responses), Pink9 with 4.5% (18 responses) and Purple17 with 4% (16 responses). PinkP21’s lead is not a surprise due to the massive popularity of both Techno and Grian. If you consider the top voted six teams, Grian, False and Ren have each appeared 3 times, Cub once, and none for Gem and Pearl.
Question 8: Choose three Hermit regulars to be with Dream in a potential Dream + Hermit trio team
This is when the results get a little hard to present. False and Grian are by far the most popular choices, with False narrowly getting slightly more. 71.6% of the participants chose False as one of their three opinions and 71.1% of the participants chose Grian. Then we have Ren with 57.1%. Cub and Pearl have similar percentages (37.2% and 36.2% respectively), then Gem with 26.9%.
Stats of popular trio choices:
False-Grian-Ren 102 responses (25%)
Cub-False-Ren 42 responses (10.5%)
False-Grian-Pearl 35 responses (8.7%)
Cub-False-Grian 34 responses (8.5%)
False-Gem-Grian 23 responses (5.7%)
The particular combination of False-Grian-Ren has a quarter of the votes, which might have been influenced by the fact that this was a team (jokingly) offered to Dream.
Question 9: Why did you choose the above three Hermits? (Optional)
I’ll try to generalize the reasons below
Cub
He has an astrophysicists' degree [REAL] so it’ll be funny
Adaptable
Cub is interested in teaming with Sapnap / DSMP members
Sassy
Chill
Okay with light swearing
Won’t take shit / keeps Dream in place
Knows about speedrunning
More competitive
Sensible
False
Is a duo with Ren
“False Supremacy”
Communication skills / keeps the team together
Can get top 15
Good support player
Good PvPer
Adaptable
Can lead
Dream said she was strong in Dodgebolt before
Chill
Sarcastic
Won’t take shit / keeps Dream in place
Well known in MCC circle
She can help Dream enjoy Build Mart
More competitive
Sensible

General reasons seem to be about having good players (which lowers potential annoyance / frustration), having someone to “counter” Dream in case he gets frustrated / salty, and choosing a particular hermit because they deserve to pop off / be noticed / do good.
And we have the Very Important Count of “people who alluded the False+Ren duo / not splitting them up”- 21 people did! :DDD
Question 10: Which Hermit are you MOST interested to see them team with Dream?
Grian gets almost the majority of the votes as 48.6% of the participants chose him (195 responses). Then it’s False with 19.2% (77 responses), Ren with 14% (56 responses), and Cub with 11.2% (45 responses). Gem gets 3.7% (15 responses), Pearl gets 3.2% (13 responses). If you look at this along with the results for the “choose any three hermits” question, it pretty much lines up.
Question 11: Why are you interested to see said Hermit with Dream? (Optional)
This question slightly overlaps with the one above, but I’ll record responses nonetheless.
Cub
Won’t take shit
Chill
The astrophysicist joke
False
“Prove” that hermits aren’t just builders
Won’t take shit
She has clout
Want her to be appreciated more
She’s a good team player + PvPer
Want her to be trained
Gem
Want to see her improve
She can gain a lot of publicity
Grian
They specialize in different things and can balance each other out
They have opposing views (eg. on funnel strat in Dodgebolt)
They’re both leaders
So Dream can like Build Mart
For the meme
He has clout
Pearl
Can and will call people out
Won’t take shit
She deserves to win
Ren
Focuses on having fun
Lifts spirits
Similar sort of humour (*cough* mildly inappropriate jokes)
He can help Dream chill
Question 12: Which Hermit are you LEAST interested to see them team with Dream?
Again, Grian comes first with 22.4% of the votes (90 responses), closely followed by Gem with 21.9% (88 responses), and also closely followed by Cub with 20.2% (81 responses). Ren’s not far behind with 18.7% (75 responses), then finally False at 8.7% (35 responses) and Pearl at 8% (32 responses). Note that some participants said they chose the hermits they didn’t know / they don't have anyone they're not interested in, so the stats might be skewed towards Gem (a newcomer) and Cub (for some reason, he seems to be the least famous in the MCC hermits scene?). So don’t take these statistics to heart.
Grian ranks first in the “most interested” and “least interested” questions. He is the most popular hermit, but opinion appears to be divided.
Question 13: Why are you not interested to see said Hermit team with Dream? (Optional)
Cub
Critical of Dream (probably referring to the speedrunning drama, Cub said he would not involve himself even though he said he was qualified to)
Might get talked over
False
Might get talked over
Gem
Get affected by the pressure/ competitiveness
Might get talked over
Grian
Completely different styles/ attitudes in MCC
Too much hype (as both are huge creators) can lead to pressure for the whole team, and some responses don’t want that because they’re afraid that might influence Grian’s panic attacks / anxiety (Grian has talked about this in several MCCs, notably Parkour Tag in MCC11 and Dodgebolt in MCC17)
Let other hermits have the hype instead (because Grian+Dream team is the one most commonly talked about)
Grian might be too humble/ blames himself too easily
Grian said in the Pride21 stream that he didn’t like large unfamiliar audiences
Fandoms might clash
Pearl
Might get talked over
Ren
Fear of facing ageism by toxic fans
Get affected by the pressure/ competitiveness
Toxic fans might attack him for being friends with people like HBomb (note: this point technically applies to everyone because they’re all friends with H)
Might easily blame himself
Different styles in MCC (fun vs competitive)
Common fears seem to be teammates being talked over, fandom drama, and clashing attitudes. Also, people seem to not want Grian because they want other hermits to get the attention.
Question 14: In a potential Dream + Hermit duo team, which MCC participant would you like to be the fourth member of this team? (Can be as unreasonable / overpowered as you like so long the participant has been in at least one MCC)

Predictably, HBomb dominates. Out of the top 5 most popular choices, Tommy is the only one who hasn’t been teamed with a hermit (yet).
Shout out to the two identical responses that replied “Pete <3” with the exact same heart.

The next three questions are about MCC games. Build Mart is there because it’s controversial, Grian (and other hermits) love it, Dream not so much. Parkour Tag is there for the same reason as Build Mart but reversed. Sands of Time is there because… it’s a self indulgent question. I just want to see the SoT love lmao. And I guess it’s there to act as a “control” because from my experience, SoT seems to be loved despite which streamer you main.
Question 16: Opinion on Build Mart?
Tumblr media
47.9% of participants (192 responses) answered “Love it”, 33.9% (136 responses) answered “Like it”, 9% (36 responses) answered “Neutral / no opinion”, 7% (28 responses) answered “Dislike it”, 2.2% (9 responses) answered “Hate it”.
81.8% of participants viewed Build Mart positively, 9% were neutral, 9.2% viewed it negatively.
Question 17: Opinion on Parkour Warrior?
Tumblr media
6.5% (26 responses) of participants answered “Love it”, 18% (72 responses) answered “Like it”, 34.2% (137 responses) answered “Neutral / no opinion”, 26.9% (108 responses) answered “Dislike it”, and 14.5% (58 responses) answered “Hate it”.
24.5% of participants viewed Parkour Warrior positively, 34.2% were neutral, 41.4% viewed it negatively.
Question 18: Opinion on Sands of Time?
Tumblr media
68.6% (275 responses) of participants answered “Love it”, 20.2% (81 responses) answered “Like it”, 8.5% (34 responses) answered “Neutral / no opinion”, 2% (8 responses) answered “Dislike it”, 0.7% (3 responses) answered “Hate it”.
88.8% of participants viewed Sands of Time positively, 8.5% were neutral, 2.7% viewed it negatively.
Highlights from the “anything else you’ll like to add section”:
“Of course blue9 is the example”
“dream (derogatory)”
“sapnap grow up challenge”
“The temptation to paste the full lyrics to hermitgang was There”
“This got me imagining blue bats 9 but it's Dream. An au where oops wrong green guy”
“They should add find the button”
There were also long essays of people explaining their thoughts, but I think they overlap with the results mentioned above. Thank you for all the responses!
Concluding thoughts:
Participants of this survey are divided. Many are worried about the reaction of both fandoms (something the CCs cannot fully control) and whether the MCC players will have a good time. Some are very excited by Dream and hermits, some are wary. We can only wait to see whether MCC will give us a team like this in the future. Apologies for the super long wait, I really did try to put in effort to show all the wonderful and thoughtful responses I received :3 Thank you for reading this almost 3k post! If you did participate in the survey, thank you very much for your insight! If you didn’t, thanks for reading this far! (It’s very long, I know)
Feel free to make analysis posts based on the numerical data collected from this survey (with links and credit), I would be more hesitant to use non-numerical data (such as reasons for so and so) because of paraphrasing :3
Reblogs are very much appreciated! <3
