Alright. I've rewatched the trailer like 20 times by now and i've been processing it.

First things first: anyone that's gonna talk shit about Gordon Cormier is gonna have to go through me first. I've only had Gordon!Aang for a day and a half and if anything happens to him i'll kill everyone here and then myself got it?

Just look at him! This is the exact big eared cute little kid i wanted them to cast for Aang. He looks adorable and honestly his outfit is growing on me.

The glowing arrow looked cool as hell. I like that the light spread through his tattoo almost like veins. I'm still curious on how the full avatar state is gonna look, how they're gonna get the glowing eye effect. Please don't let it look goofy.

Y'know what does look goofy?

Is it better than the m night shyamalan appa? I guess. Does that mean it looks good? Well.... at least momo sort of looks cute instead of some folklore nightmare like in shyamalan's version. But also you can tell in this shot in particular that it's very green screen-y

Then we go over to the bending, the limited shots we have of it. Mainly firebending was shown (a little airbending too but kinda hard to get a stillframe for that one)

Idk how to feel about it. In screenshots it looks alright but the shots while they were moving looked a bit off, especially the one where zuko's kicking. We only got very limited shots and that's intentional. I feel like the bigger cgi fails are gonna show up once we get the full show. If the bending looked good all the time i feel like they'd be showing it off by now.

What i don't like, is how apparently they're gonna SHOW Zuko getting burned. Like sure in atla they didn't bc kids show and Nickelodeon wouldn't allow it, and netflix can take darker turns if they so please. But i personally always felt that scene made so much impact because we didn't see it. Iroh is telling it from his memory and he didn't look when it happened, so we don't see it either. It's like a courtesy the show extends to both Zuko and the audience. We just hear the harrowing scream, and that's enough to know how devastating it is. I don't need a dramatic overlook so we can see the whole thing in detail, netflix.

Another thing is the hair in some scenes.

Daniel dae kim looked better in that promo photo, bc here you can just see how the bulky goatie was glued on. And then Sokka's hair..... where's the ponytail? It's laying completely flat against his head... why? Is it bc that's Ian's hair and they didn't know what to do with it? Literally get a comb and tease that bitch. This is like the complete opposite of Jackson Rathbone's hair in the shyamalan version, and somehow that full maybelline ponytail makes more sense than this sad excuse of a tail. Either way at least Suki looked dope.

Another thing i found weird about the trailer is the narration. I think it's either Iroh's voice or maybe Gyatso's? (I haven't heard Iroh's actor talk yet so idk, but it felt like it was being said TO either Aang or Zuko) but the lines they gave him... it felt like some weird mumbo jumbo tbh. Something something about the past and present being the same and it's up to us to know the difference and be the difference? It's saying everything and nothing at the same time and it felt kind of out of place. They're probably saving the iconic opening narration done by Katara for the full trailer (i hope???) but still they could have just gone with music, or maybe just a few iconic existing lines?

The music? Fire. Nothing needs to be added there. Was i kind of hoping for a different soundtrack? Maybe a bit. But am i mad? Not at all. They clearly took the nostalgia route with the more epic version of the avatar theme, and i can only respect them for that.

So far, very mixed reviews for me. I'm morbidly curious and very nosy by nature though, so i'm absolutely watching.

Translation of a Bilibili Video Analysing the Paris Love Making Scene

Preface from me: PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS IS NOT MY ORIGINAL CONTENT! THIS IS JUST MY TRANSLATION OF THE FOLLOW VIDEO MADE BY 搭火箭都要追剧 A CHINESE RWRB FAN. I REPEAT, THE CONTENT IS NOT MINE, I'M JUST A TRANSLATOR (that being said I did a little bit of commentary, anything in brackets is my own thoughts)

Preface from OP: The content of this video is very subjective and shallow, if it's different from your opinions, you're the right one (a Chinese saying which basically means "this is just my thoughts don't come at me") and it's most likely to be very different from any official BTS.

Didn't translate the first part because 1, I can't really translate it well due to cultural references 2, I... don't really agree with it, but did like 90% of the video

Also since it's about the Paris love-making scene, there's sexual content, you have been warned

For the moment when Alex slips his hand under Henry's shirt

When Alex slides his hand across Henry's naked waist, his fingertips, the most sensitive part of the hand is touching Henry's bare skin and stirring his desires, which is why Alex's body tenses: he clenches his jaw and takes a deep breath in.

In contrast, Henry is absorbed in the romance of it all. He's been in love with Alex the whole time and finally, the man of his dreams is here with him, touching him.

Henry told Alex that he's in good hands, therefore Henry's the one to lead this dance and set the atmosphere, so most of the light is on him, with the bright spot being shone on Henry's wrist which leads the audience to focus on that point

He starts with his fingertips running along Alex's vein, but the brightest spot doesn't follow the movement of his hand and stays focused on his wrist and the lower part of his thumb while the rest of his hand is in darker lighting. This is to strike a contrast and to put the focus on Henry's hand and therefore his movement. The reason only part of his hand is illuminated is because his entire hand is lit, the frame's lighting loses its balance and looks abnormal, and won't match the more subtle, softer tones of the romance in the movie

A highly saturated orange/golden light is chosen, which increases the feeling of content and ambiguity (I don't that sounds weird but it's the closest word I can think of, but a more accurate description… Imagine the use of steam in a shower sex scene) which also hints that this is going to be a lovely night

The use of light and the contrast of brightness on different parts also serve to convey Henry's emotions and internal thoughts. Even though their first night in Alex's room and their hook-up during the polo match were both really intense, but it was more about the surging, frantic sexual desire between the two. Now Henry doesn't actually know how Alex will react and is somewhat worried about it, which is represented by his fingers in darker lighting. But at the same time, Paris is the first time Henry can be so physically close with his long-time crush and be extremely honest/vulnerable with him, and later understand and feel each other on a spiritual level (… Woah.). He feels contentment from that, which is what the brighter area conveys.

In this single shot, the bright and dark areas are fairly equal, which also means these two emotions are in equal conflict at this moment

Then Henry's hand slides up towards Alex's shoulder and he switches to touching him with his fingertips, which, with its sensitivity, means Henry can feel any tiny change on Alex's skin. He feels Alex's excitement and comfort, which in turn makes him happy and bolder, which is also conveyed in the change of the light in the frame: the fingertips that were previously in dark lighting gradually shift into the brighter area, representing his worries fading

The light is still on Henry which means this shot is still conveying Henry's feelings

There's a clear contrast of light on his face which makes his face seem more 3D (again sorry for the weird translation but I can't find any other words) and attracts the audience's attention more.

The contrast is also represented in Henry's characterization. To explain this, we need to understand what a cognitive schema is: cognitive schema is a psychological concept which can be summarized as when a person is exposed to an object, event or person, they will use precious experience and knowledge to make a general judgment and description of them thus predicting their next actions. So in the case of Henry, at first since he's a prince, the audience and Alex, using their cognitive schema will assume he's prim and proper, when in reality he's horny (ha), flirtatious and adorable (so in conclusion, he's actually a babygirl)

Henry then lingers his hand on Alex, and glances at Alex with a flirtatious smile, enjoying Alex's shiver under his touch.

The light is now mostly on Henry's back, increasing the romantic atmosphere of the shot.

The light is also on Alex's torso and cheek forming a light contrast, which turns the audience's focus onto Alex. The larger dark area indicates he's being led by Henry in this situation, and he doesn't really know what Henry's gonna do, therefore his nervousness is the dominating emotion, represented by the dark area.

But he's also enjoying Henry's touches, which is why the light is still mostly on Henry but also partly on Alex now, almost like an extension of the contentment that Henry feels

The lamp that in-universe is providing the lighting is on the right side of the frame. If a similar light source isn't placed on the left side, the left side of the frame would seem too cold, which would destroy the atmosphere previously created. Therefore a mirror was placed there both for spatial balance and to create a reflection of the lamp's light, creating a small light spot on the left, balancing the coloring and lighting of the shot.

To the right of the mirror where the light can't cover is a small cupid statue. The statue not only adds to the romantic atmosphere but also indicates what's about to happen, as cupid symbolizes love and sex. Cupid is also a mischievous God who enjoys pranks, which also somewhat describe the boys' relationship: cupid shoots out the silver/lead arrow of aversion and revulsion that leads to their misunderstanding and subsequent hatred, but the shoots out the golden arrow of fall that led to them falling in love with each other and living together happily ever after.

Alex keeps watching Henry's hand as his hand slides down and looks back up when Henry touches his chest and takes a deep breath. Henry smiles brightly at Alex's reaction.

Alex then becomes intoxicated by Henry's touch as his sexual desires take over him

When Henry picks up the key that means a lot to Alex, Alex clenches his jaw. The highlight in his eyes allows the audience to immediately catch the change in his eyes that's filled up with lust.

So to conclude this part, a lot of attention was given to the placement of props and the lighting: the saturated golden creates a romantic but steamy/foggy (meraki seriously can't find the right word) setting, which is a filmmaking technique often used by Wong Kar Wai, in fact a similar lighting was used in "In the Mood for Love" (Matthew is a true fan)

There's a red mark on Henry's chest which OP explained in an earlier video that would have been caused by Alex grabbing there when thrusting forward

There's another possibility which is Alex getting excited when being behind Henry but he doesn't really know what to do so all he can do is grind against Henry. But Henry feels and sounds divine, and Alex gets impatient so he leaves marks on Henry's arm and chest

To prove her hypothesis op did an experiment with her own arm: she chose her arm because just like the part of Henry's chest that's marked, part of the muscle curves (into the elbow just as the chest muscle curves into the armpit) it's not a easy place for fingers to exert force, thus can draw a closer, more subjective comparison.

Experiment process: open uses her other hand to grab onto her arm and pull backwards forcefully, to 1, observe the shape of the mark and if it's identical to that of Henry's, 2, observe the time needed to create the mark in order to be the same as Henry's

As shown in the photo, the (faint) red marks are approximately the same shape, width and redness as the ones on Henry's chest. It took 28 seconds to reach this. This approximates the time taken by Alex to "do stuff" (I think she means prep?) from Henry's behind

With how loving and gentle Alex is with Henry it's not that likely that he started groping Henry's chest from the beginning, so the conclusion is when Alex was trying to "move forward" when he was behind Henry (I seriously don't know if she means prep or like, doggy style) but doesn't really know what to do and groped Henry in his nervousness, and this failed attempt lasted at least 28 seconds.

OP thinks the failed attempt was done in front of the window with Henry bending over, gripping the back of one of the chairs, and deduced from the DNC scene: the boys were originally chatting in bath robes on the couch with the curtain mostly closed, but when Zahra barged in, the blackout curtain was out, leaving just the mesh layer closed. There was a bathrobe on the far side of the couch and another in front of the window. So presumably after the talk, they went for another round, Henry ditched his robe on one side of the couch and pounced on Alex (similarly to how he did on Alex's couch), they tumbled around and switched position and ended up in front of the window, Alex remembered he failed attempt in Paris and wanted to make up for it so he pulled open the blackout curtain but left the mesh layer closed, and then he got to work. (...tbn personally I think this is a stretch?)

Henry thinks Alex is adorable but he's also really intoxicated and wants to get down to business asap, so he grabs Alex's neck and presses Alex towards him, kissing from Alex's lips to his neck. He kissed Alex's neck because from their first hook-up and the way Alex immediately stretched his neck to give Henry space when he kissed his neck then, that this is the quickest way to stimulate him. Which is why you can see a faint hickey on Alex's neck

As they kiss they walk towards the bed. During their first hook-up, Henry pushed Alex onto the couch, so now it's Alex's turn to pounce on Henry, which is what we see in the shot: Henry falls onto the bed first, then Alex follows. Alex is really happy and a bit proud that he can drive Henry crazy like this, while (and I quote directly) Henry can't think of anything anymore, and has "please hurry up and fuck me" painted on his face

The mark/hickey on Alex's neck takes the shape of an inverted triangle, with the vertical side and the diagonal side (left down right up, in math it's a positive slope) being more red, which means those two points experienced the largest amount of force

For the process, deduced with the shot of them laying in bed during the afterglow

The trajectory of sweat on Henry's temple runs downward vertically. If he was fucked lying down, the sweat should run into his ear canal horizontally. Which means he was fucked in a sitting position. For example in the polo match hookup, Henry's sweat is visible in the form of drops running vertically down his face. Also in the afterglow, the sweat also seems to be splattered, which required Henry to have vigorously moved either up and down or front and back. So yeah this further proves that there was a cut riding scene.

Alex also has sweat on his face, and his fringe is wet. So riding should have happened right before they lied down and started talking.

So the process deduced by OP is 1, they tried doggy style in front of the window and failed 2, what was shown in the movie 3, doggy style on the bed 4, riding (OP wasn't aware of the details of the extended Paris love-making scene, but all RWRB fans in China know that there's doggy style and riding that got cut, this is OP's deduction of the order)

Even without looking at the sweats and marks, from the way Henry's signet ring is turned in the movie you can tell that something's deleted, since before Alex intertwined his fingers with Henry, the letter H was facing outwards, and when their hands join the movement causes the ring to turn and for the letter to face inwards. But then the next shot with Henry's hand on Alex's shoulder shows the ring worn normally again, which means something in between was deleted or reordered.

I think conflating mental health/personal hobbies and habits with physical health and wellness in the time of a literal plague is actually part of why we are where we are. The example of opting out of treating a broken bone that you used is the perfect metaphor because that’s something that mostly effects the person with the broken bone. But if you’re treating every goddamn thing a person can do like it’s potentially viral it makes it easy to sound reasonable to advocate for a lot of vigilance against individual choice. Is this totally off base? do I sound like a reactionary dipshit conspiracy theorist right now? Just… there’s something here right??

even if that isn't the total root cause, I definitely think you're onto something. covid is literally a deadly and disabling viral disease, so the logic of "your actions regarding this impact others" makes total sense, but I think a lot of people took that language and framework and just ran with it, hoping that alluding to a deadly and disabling viral disease would lend credence to their arguments about mental health and personal decisions.

for example, I am constantly thinking about this take I saw on a post about drug decrim in december 2021. it's so special and dear to my heart, it makes no fucking sense at all. the only copy of the screenshot I still have saved is just the tail end of it and it has my annotations, so bear with me.

first, just for a moment, I love the complete breakdown of internal logic. we need to end the stigma around drug abuse but I think using heroin is exactly like being anti-vaxx. we should decriminalize all drugs but you'd have to be craaaazay to think that legalizing them is okay. wait until this person learns that some addiction treatment programs include prescribing opioids as a harm reduction measure.

second, using heroin is in no way like being anti-vaxx oh my god, and this person just can't tell. they are explicitly applying viral disease logic to mental illness* and choices about individual bodily autonomy. I don't want to minimize the pain and distress that can come from having a loved one with a substance use disorder, but in no world is it the same thing as refusing to go to cvs a few times to get a free vaccine against, once again, a deadly and disabling viral disease. groundbreaking leftist take: drug use makes you a hazard and drain on society and honestlyyyy you should think about the consequences of your actions before choosing to become an addict :/

I don't have screenshot for this next example, but I've also seen this language and mindset particularly come up a lot in discussions about "bimboism," makeup, and cosmetic surgery. I've seen several discussion threads where a woman finally just says "look, I'm adult, I've thought about this, I've interrogated myself, and ultimately I still want to do it and I can do what I want with my body" and the comeback to usually is "are you stupid? this isn't just about you, you're a member of a society who inherently expresses your ideology through your choices. the personal is political, stop being so individualistic. what will young girls think when they see you in a miniskirt calling yourself a slut?"

again, the final point that's meant to win the argument is that your choices about your body aren't fundamentally your own but Society's, because other people can look at your body and have feelings about it, they may even want to emulate it. for an added bonus, this one doesn't just use viral disease logic, but also borrows heavily and directly from the really basic conservative idea that women are less people and more living mannequins that you can dress up and use to show off the ideals of your social group. you can't wear that, men might see you and think you're a hussy and then it'll be your fault when they harass other women, little girls might see you and copy you like mindless drones.

*obligatory asides that plenty of people can recreationally use substances without being addicted and they're also fine + I know that classifying addiction as a mental illness is a hotly debated topic, especially in antipsych contexts, but that's a whole different can of worms to the topic at hand.

So I don't have any screenshotted proof from this pre & post Austria 2019 era myself, but maybe another blog does (I've only been active myself in f1 tumblr since 2021, despite following the sport my entire life and looking over the tags every so often before setting up my blog here) so I'll throw this in the tags so if someone does have that type of evidence, they can add it here.

Here's what we do know and have evidence for;

We do know that Max and Charles did follow each other on their various social media platforms until circa 2019, as - (if you scroll back far enough) - you can see different interactions between them pre 2019, pre Austria specifically. [Unrelated note: the unhingedness of them and the rest of the then teenaged members of the grid at this point of time is beyond hilarious. Genuinely, if you have the time it's worth the scrolling because they're such teenage boys tm it's ridiculous, and we kinda forget how long their lives have been interconnected, and it's before they got proper pr training and before certain drivers - most recognisably Max - gave their socials to a media team to run. There was a good period of time around 2017/18 when Victoria, his sister, ran his accounts as well as he wanted to include her in his team, before a proper media team took over. Objectively, the idea of Victoria noticing Charles unfollowed Max and then being the one to unfollow Charles in response, while Max remains oblivious to the entire situation is killing me lmao].

Now we do definitely know that they shared the flight home from Austria as during press after the race, Max was asked if things were going to be awkward with Charles now and he was essentially like "??? We're literally sharing a flight home???" This was Max's "It was just an inchident" ngl. Meanwhile, this was Charles on the podium:

... so he certainly did not share the same sentiment. It was his "it's just unfair" era. You can see a clear difference in Charles' driving post Austria, he started taking more risks and was more aggressive afterwards, because he felt if max was allowed to take risks and be aggressive, so was he. In the story of Charles' racing career, Austria 2019 is a significant race in his journey, even though it wasn't the win he wanted it to be. He would win his first two races in the aftermath of it.

It would not be the first or last time Charles would pettily unfollow someone on the grid after feeling he had been dirty by them and/or the FIA. In 2021, he followed every driver on the grid bar Max and would unfollow Valterri after what Charles dubbed the bowling incident in Hungary. While Bottas caused the main chaos of that opening lap, Stroll was the one who actually took Charles out of the race, but Lance has Charles following him as of 2024. Bottas also may have been unfollowed because of his preference of being as little clothed as possible in his insta posts lmao, but Charles did follow him before Hungary 2021 and quickly unfollowed afterwards.

The Welcome Home website is back let's gooooooo!

Let's just say I didn't waste any time and immediately got into it. And I came back with some screenshots.

First of all, when I clicked on the link partycoffin posted, I got welcomed by our dear Home who looks so adorable!

Then our silly Wally with...strange little symbols I must say

But whatever, it's probably nothing, it's just to fit the Christmas theme.

Even though Christmas was like...3 months ago or something.

Then we have this:

Apparently, from what I understand by reading it, the people behind the website got rid of the little bugs that were roaming around. You know, the bugs who leads us to audio files when clicking on it.

That's funny because there's still this one small bug below which we can't still click on it for some reasons.

And why are they acting like it's Christmas although, once again, THREE months ago?

When checking on the neighborhood, there's more of the little symbols.

Apart from that, it's nice seeing all our neighbors again. I missed them not gonna lie.

Upon discovering this, I tried to "de-coding" those symbols using the translator, but it didn't mean anything much. Like, it was just random letters and not words. I tried to use the letters in the website link to see if it could bring me to some secret dark page like the site is known for, but nothing.

I don't know about you, but there HAVE to be something with those codes. I can feel there's something in it but I can't tell what exactly.

Interesting thing, remember the Aladdin lamp? This symbol translate to the letter "W".

"W" for "Wally"...huh...

Well I guess Wally sure likes to mention himself huh, the little silly guy.

But wait, there's more.

I went to the News section and this is what it says:

LITA Ep. 5 Rewatch Thoughts Pt. 3

Ok so I have literally watched this part 37 times all the way through for the purposes of this rewatch thread. People needs years of training to reach the single-minded peaceful state I reach when I see these two kiss, but it also means when the scene started I kept forgetting to take screenshots. Here we go!

Starting off, I love how slow they took this. It wasn't an immediate "ok we're together now, let's kiss so hard we knock teeth!" - every move is so deliberate and so gentle. If it's possible to have a comfort kiss, it's this set of ones.

I continue to see triangle imagery that may not even be real. Let's take a close look at these kisses. This one looks a lot like their first one, where their mouths are closed and their lips just fit together. So very sweet!

They let go for a beat, and then press together again with their mouths slightly open. This kiss has a bit more force.

Rain pushes forward for the third one (and who can blame that eagerness?) - to be honest I'm mostly looking at the way Phayu's hands fit so completely around Rain's neck here.

Someone REALLY wants more kisses right now - he's gotta wait, Phayu's stroking his face first.

Phayu then delivers the "you can be my wife or I'll be your husband" line, and then we get this absolutely adorable and besotted expression on Rain.

This is just so aesthetic okay? I love the where it started, where it is now we're getting with the triangle glass case in the blurry foreground and them peacefully kissing in the background, along with an abundance of yellow+navy blue imagery..

Yeah I'm honestly melting rn I don't have a lot more to say here. I continue to love the microphone placement because you can really hear when they separate from this kiss.

Rain calls Phayu out on his choices that aren't really choices (I'm just saying, if someone like Phayu wanted to give me these options I wouldn't have a hard time picking). RainPhayu have such lovely hand-related imagery when it comes to their relationship. Whenever Phayu wants to apologize to or assuage Rain, he does the hand kiss, and when whenever Rain wants to calm Phayu down he does the forearm grab plus adorable look up at him.

I can think of other, more positive reasons he might cry Phayu, why did you go with embarrassment?

Ok the little aaa sound Phayu makes to draw out the affection in this sentence will live rent-free in my list of most favorite sounds forever. It's so important to me (and Rain). Rain's besotted again

Their faces are making a heart - I'm not coping well

Rain's little intake of breath when Phayu starts whispering in his ear and the slow blinks are also so important to me. I don't think I understood the term molasses-like atmosphere until I watched this scene.

They are so close to each other right now, emotionally and physically. The little nod of agreement Phayu gives when Rain asks if he really means what he just said is so lovely.

One other thing I love about EulBoss' depiction of PhayuRain is how happy they are to be together - you can see Phayu clearly smiling as he goes in to kiss Rain, who is smiling himself.

The tentativeness of this kiss that comes right after the important thing that Phayu just told Rain (we don't officially find out what he says until later but we can assume it was a confession of some sort based on Rain's question and obvious happiness right after it was said) is a beautiful indicator of how vulnerable they're being with each other rn.

After a few seconds they start pushing a little harder against each other - the amount of movement is super pleasant to watch!

summary: Does love last forever, or is it fleeting? For university juniors Kim Seungmin and Seo Y/n, it's love at first sight but sometimes you meet your soulmate at the wrong time.

You lay peacefully on Seungmin, resting. Your torso slotted between his legs, your head flat on his chest, his hand drawing small shapes on your back. You can hear his heartbeat swiftly. Still, it’s calmer than when you first laid on him earlier, it sounded like he had a jack hammer in his chest.

You finished your paper within the first hour of you being at Seungmin's apartment. The melona he gave you being an excellent motivator to get you to finish. Afterwords, you helped Seungmin cook dinner, which he insisted on doing instead of ordering in like he suggested earlier. And by help, he had you cut vegetables and then read his textbook to him as you sat on the counter top and he finished cooking. You two ate while watching the show you were in the middle of the last time you were over. Afterwords, the two of you retreated to the couch where you took a nap on Seungmin's chest as he finished his reading.

"Min?" You ask when you woke up. You weren't sure if he is still awake. His hand is still moving on your back but he's been still.

"Oh, you're awake?" He asks softly.

"Yeah, I was just thinking."

"While you were sleeping?"

"I guess,"

"What were you thinking about?" He hums. You feel it in his chest. It's almost like feeling 2 cats purring.

"Why do you want to become a lawyer."

"You were thinking about why I'm studying law?" He chuckles.

"No, I-- just answer the question." You softly hit his chest.

"It's always fascinated me. One time when I was little, my dad took me to work with him and I thought it was amazing that he was getting paid to argue with people. Seemed fun." You can hear the fondness in his voice as he talks about his father.

"But you're doing it because you want to?"

"I don't do things I don't like or don't want to." He says simply.

“Noted,”

“Why’d you ask about why I wanted to become a lawyer?”

“Something my brother said to me earlier. He thinks I want to become a doctor to stay in our dad’s good graces.”

“Are you?”

“Yes and no,” Seungmin taps your back, signaling for you to sit up. You quickly get up and bring your knees to your chest, resting your head on top of them, facing Seungmin.

“What do you mean by yes and no?”

“I’ve always wanted to be a doctor. I saw some show that I’ll never know the name of because I never checked but it made medicine look interesting so, I decided to become a doctor. I just didn’t know what I wanted to specialize in until my dad had his first heart attack. It was not too long after Changbin told our dad he wasn’t going to go to university and that he was moving to Seoul to become a tattoo artist. I’m not saying my brother gave our dad a heart attack, that man eats so much red meat and smokes habitually—I’m surprised he lasted that long before that moment. But it was a minor attack and so were the other 3 he’s had since. I figured that if I went into cardiothoracic surgery, and my dad could wait that long, I could help him prolong his life long enough for him and Bin to make amends and for our family to be whole again.” You sigh. You didn’t mean to ramble, but something about being with Seungmin made you feel safe enough to do that.

“You’re trying to literally mend broken hearts.” Seungmin says in awe.

“I guess. I know my dad is devastated about how things with Changbin went, even though he’ll never admit it. That’s his only son and even though they’ve been at odds my whole life, I know those stubborn idiots care for each other. Our dad told us not to tell Changbin about the heart attacks. Saying that 'if he cared he would have never left in the first place.' But I know it’s because he worries about him.” You've never told anyone about any of this, not even your sister.

You haven't even told her that your dad has sent you extra money for your monthly allowance and once you did the math you realized that he was sending money for Changbin too knowing that you would figure it out. You've been pulling it out and sneaking it into his wallet or random jean pockets for years now knowing that he wouldn't take if if he knew it was from your dad.

“Is that why you’re at JYPU?”

“It’s the closest university to where my brother lives. I had to lie to my dad and tell him I got rejected from all the top universities so he would let me go. Convincing him to let me live with Changbin was easy after that. I just want everything to go back to normal.” You squeeze your knees tighter to your chest.

“Y/n?”

“Hm?” You hum.

“I’m in awe of you,”

"I--What? So suddenly?" You laugh.

"No, I've thought it for a while. You're smart, like really smart, and when In asked me to tutor you I thought you were going to be a pain in my ass. But you're like the opposite?"

"I'm a relief in your ass?" You giggle.

"Nevermind, I take it back." His face quickly gets red at the realization of what he said.

"I'm sorry, go back to what you were saying."

"I'm good,"

"Seungmin," You whine.

"It's nothing, I was just going to say you aren't how I thought you were going to be. And the fact that you could be at any university you want and you gave that up to try to fix your family. I don't think that many people would do that."

"I'm a certified genius. It wouldn't have mattered much where I went to school for my undergraduate degree anyway, all people mostly care about is what medical school you go to. So, I have only this year and next year to fix everything." You say the last part to yourself. In retrospect, it's not a lot of time to fix years of fighting, but you're stubborn like your brother and father.

The two of you sit silently for a moment, staring at each other. Seungmin rests his head in his hand as he stares at you. He has a soft smile and a twinkle in his eyes. You've seen that look on him before. He had it once when he was watching a baseball game. Only for the first half ot the game though, his team started losing after that.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" You giggle, sitting up straight and stretching out your legs.

"I'm thinking," He says sheepishly.

"About?" You quirk your eyebrow at him.

"It's not really appropriate, i think."

"Kim Seungmin, are you having pervy thoughts?" You tease.

"No! No, quite the opposite actually." His ears turn bright red.

"Oh?" You turn your body towards him, fully intrigued about what could be going on in his head.

"I was...thinking about kissing you." He says innocently. Your eyes glance at his lips quickly. You'd be lying to yourself if you said you haven't thought about the same thing for week now. Your heart leaps at the idea of him thinking the same thing.

"Then do it," Your boldness surprises you. You've never been so direct or commanding about anything and if anyone checked your heart rate right now, they'd think your heart was about to give out with how hard it's pounding.

"I'm afraid," He whispers, sitting up straighter.

Ba-dum

"Of what?"

Ba-dum

"That once I start, I might not be able to stop."

Ba-dum

"Would that be so bad?" You throw back his words from earlier at him.

Ba-dum

Seungmin slowly closes the small gap between the two of you. You squeeze your hands tight, scared that if you move he'll back off. You're not sure why the idea of kissing him is making you so nervous. You've been sleeping next to him for a while now and you were just laying on top of him not that long ago. You swallow the lump in your throat as Seungmin's eyes flick down to your lips. He places his index finger under your chin and tilts you head up slightly towards him.

He gently places his lips on yours, almost like he's afraid you'd disappear if he presses his lips deeper into yours. Your eyes flutter close, letting out a breathe you weren't aware you were holding. It's a simple kiss, he doesn't part his mouth or swipe your bottom lip with his tongue trying go further. It's so simple and yet, it still sends shock waves through your body. You can't help but melt into the kiss, your hand finding it's way onto Seungmin's chest and slightly gripping his shirt. After a few seconds he pulls away, looking at your lips before slowly looking into his eyes. He has a look you've never seens in his eyes before, almost like desperation.

Before you could say anything, Seungmin is gently laying your back on the couch. His hands are on either sides of your head, caging you in as he leans in again. His lips find yours again, this time desperately. Like he knows what he wants and he's afraid you're going to disappear. You're not sure if it's the combination of his velvety soft lips on yours, his cologne, and his body heat overwhelming you, but you're starting to feel light headed. You slightly part your lips to breathe and Seungmin takes the opportunity to slip his tongue in your mouth. Your left hand hands Seungmin's chest again, griping his shirt tighter than before.

Seungmin separates from you again, and rests his forehead on yours. You're sure that kissing Seungmin cut off all oxygen from going to your brain. For the first time in your life, you don't have a single thought going through your head.

"Y/n," He says breathlessly. The kiss seems to have done damage to him too.

"Hm," You hum.

"I'm not trying to sleep with you right now." He whispers.

"Oh?" Your brain still hasn't recovered, you can't even think of a proper sentence right now.

"I just really, really like you. Fuck, I might even be in love with you. I just...I just need you." His right hand lands on your face, his thumb gently caressing your cheek.

"You need me?" You question. His words aren't entirely making sense, but you're blaming that on him kissing you and making you dizy.

"Not like that. Okay, maybe a little like that but more than that too. I like going to sleep next to you and waking up next to you and just doing mundane shit with you like brushing our teeth. And studying. And I go to sleep really early but I like staying late to talk to you. And your voice is like music to my ears, even that weird giggle you do. And I'm glad you're fighting with your roommate because that means I get to see you more often, and I know that sounds selfish, and that's entirely your fault. You make me do stupid shit like running to the store and buying one of every box of melona. And if I keep doing all of that as a friend without having all of you, I think I might actually die. Especially after kissing you because I don't think I can back to how we were now that I know how your lips feel against yours--"

"Seungmin--"

"I'm literally using every fiber in my being to stop myself from kissing you again because I don't want you to get the wrong idea. But I want you to be my girlfriend, actually I need you to be my girlfriend but if I keep kissing you I feel like you're going to think I'm just trying to sleep with you--"

"Okay,"

"--and...Okay?"

"Okay, I'll be your girlfriend."

"You will?"

"Yes. I really, really, really like you too and if you've noticed, I didn't exactly push you away either of the times that you kissed me. Actually, I told you to do it. Which is so unlike me. You make me do dumb shit too. I hope you're happy, you've reduced me to an idiot. And I hope you know that I haven't been coming here just because my roommate is an ass. I also don't do things I don't want to or don't like."

"I...so...you... Sorry, I think my brain is short circuiting."

"Kissing me might help that." You suggests.

"Is that right?" He laughs, his breathe tickling your face.

"Trust me, I'm a pre-med student."

"Well, shit, who am I to go against my doctor-girlfriend's orders."

"Hurry up, the situation is quite dire, I fear." You grip Seungmin's shirt again and pull him down closer to you.

So I wrote "Dogsong," my first Sevika/Reader fic and I kinda just wanted to blab about what went into it, especially since I started writing it in January.

I dunno how this came about but last November or so, I was like "man I'm bored and I need more fanfics to read. What about Arcane? Wait does anyone even ship that chick Sevika with anyone?" Found out that the most popular ship for her was Reader fics 🙃

Before this, I started seeing fanart of her and was like "hmmm....uhhh actually she's kinda hot???" And this is funny because my friend sent me a screenshot of me literally wondering how anyone even likes her ass.

Boy was I so fucking wrong.

Anyway I started reading a bunch of Sevika/Reader fics on AO3 and instantly fell in love with all the differing portrayals of her. This side character who can beat the shit out of people and barely talks had a dedicated ass following of people who loved to portray her as soft. How could I not love that? I decided I really wanted to write my own portrayal so I rewatched Arcane on New Year's Eve (while suffering through horrible caffeine withdrawal, worst headache of my life...). I took notes.

Whenever I write for a new fandom, I always wanna portray the characters as closely to canon as possible while still allowing some freedom for headcanon and extrapolation. So I study dialogue, tone of voice, body language, manner of speaking, etc. It's fun tbh.

My goal for this was to write a Sevika who is feared in the streets as she is in Arcane, but show a side of her we don't get to see. Loving, adorable with her girl, a little bit of a tease with some humor. Just a "wtf that's Sevika?!" type deal.

My main HC for her is that Sevika really is a gigantic teddy bear with her girlfriend. And I'm so fucking glad I had that exact thought because I didn't think of the pet name "bear" for her until I was literally watching The Bear almost two weeks ago. It fit perfectly 😂

Smut wise, I love sadistic Sevika but after listening to The New Bottoming Book and The New Topping Book for BDSM, it got me thinking more deeply about how to portray the dynamic. My previous thought process around sadism was flawed. And I wanted to correct it. So I had Sevika's sadism be less "mean" and brutal. Not sure what words fit here but I hope that was evident!

Last thing about Sevika: I personally don't like the descriptor for her being a brute. I know that's official in Arcane but ugh...

It just rubs me the wrong way as it has such a negative connotation and definition. And I especially don't like that it's tied to a woman of color in her position. Yes, she's tough and can beat your ass, but we've seen how good she is at manipulation and how she commands respect. This is a strong reason as to why I went with the softer route for her. Reader sees a side of her that literally no one else does. She was the person that stepped in and told that guy in the bar to fuck off and then walked Reader home afterwards. Like look at her 🥺

Speaking of Reader, this poor soul started off as more of a blank slate but it wasn't until I really wanted a backstory for her that she lowkey became a bit of an OC. I spoke about this before, but I typically never think of myself as the Reader when I read Canon/Reader fics. I've always seen it the same way I see the player character in RPGs—a bit of set backstory but enough characterization to make them yours. And that's how I wanted this Reader to feel. If I do add any future installments, I want that to remain the same. I'm sure there are some folks out there who like to imagine themselves in that role so I deliberately chose to leave out physical characteristics as much as possible within reason. I just hope it was enough!

Also if you're wondering why I have Sevika speaking two languages...it's more of a "if you know you know" type thing. Her VA is Afro-Latina and speaks fluent Spanish and I liked the idea of that HC being a small character thing as well as an Easter egg. I have more to add on that note but I'll save that for a potential chapter 2.....

I don't wanna concretely say I'll be making updates as I've traditionally been bad about longer fics but I do have some very solid ideas for at least two more parts. :]

The laugh made Helen angry and ashamed at the same time. She was trying to keep herself together and it was so very obvious to other people. And this young man was a rather good looking specimen. He had brown hair combed back from his face, blue eyes, and was rather old, probably near his mid twenties. He was handsome and better dressed than any of the men in the town, though the mustache he was growing was not something she thought looked nice on him. Helen was both flattered and intimidated that he had singled her out, but reminded herself it was probably due to the color of her dress. It was eye-catching and unconventional.

But if he wasn't going to face this situation with her properly, she was going to have to deal with it herself. Which she didn't want to do if she didn't have to. "What else do you suggest we do, Nikola? Everyone deserves to be happy and feel safe in their own home. I'll wager your flock isn't feeling as happy as you'd like them to.

19. What headcanon do you always include in your stories?

Uhh...I'm not sure how many it's actually made it into because it doesn't always come up, but I make sure I include my headcanon that Ashley was born in London and James took care of Helen during her pregnancy there, when I can. It just has lovely vibes to me and no one can take it away from me.

30. Which fic would you most like to have its own fanfic written for?

Oof, that's so hard! I don't know, really. I don't know how many of my fics are good enough to deserve someone putting that sort of effort and dedication into something like that.

Enigmatic Confections, maybe? Right now I'm saying that because I just realized how many one-shots I've written and I'm not really vibing with Stargate SG-1 right now. Confections is also my longest fic, so there's plenty of material there.

Enigmatic Confections 's song is: It's Alright by Mother Mother (I used this song for Helen's confessions and Nikola's reactions to them and I'm going to use it again because it's a gentle song for the story)

Akhkharu 's song is: Achilles Come Down by Gang of Youths (I felt this really suited Helen's mentality of becoming a vampire by force and Nikola and Will trying to convince her she'll be the same)

Bleeding Through the Blue 's song is: Dollhouse by Melanie Martinez (I feel this really suits the dreamworld and Helen's mentality in the story, considering there is no real way to tell what's real and what's not)
