i’ve read part of the illiad. it uses a lot of formal and old english, but overall i understood most of it.
i would recommend listening to an audiobook though, or listening to it as you read
Hm, i'm personally not a fan of audio books bc i usually end up reading faster than the person narrating and that annoys me. Reminds me of how in school i would always read faster than the other students reading out loud
honestly i'm good with old formal english, i was more afraid of the lore being heavy and complicated especially reading it as a non native english speaker (and like i said i refuse to read dutch it hurts my soul), but i think knowing generally the myth surrounding troy and getting to already know most of the characters through the song of achilles i'll probably be okay i hope. Thanks for the advice!

Question has anyone here ever read the iliad and if so was it difficult to read? For context i reread the song of Achilles today and i want more of these characters, but i'm afraid it'll be too challenging bc it was translated from old greek i think and english is not my first language (but also i refuse to read anything in dutch lest i recoil every time someone uses the informal dutch you)

They're making ANOTHER atla movie? Wtf?
Which rock have you lived under? They announced like three movies last year, and one of them has been confirmed to be abt the Gaang as adults, coming in 2025. There hasn't been confirmation about the topics of any of the others i believe.
A series about the avatar after Korra is also in development. Idk if that has an estimated release date yet, but i know it's in development. These are all going to be under the original creator's supervision, as they're being developed by Avatar Studios, the company Bryke started together with i think paramount? Not sure. Either way, shit's happening!
(Also idk what you mean with "another atla movie" bc the only one i can think of is the original live action? These new ones aren't live action they're animated)

I think it needs to be reiterated: The Water Tribes weren’t colonized. Katara does not have “colonial trauma”, as one post suggests. The Water Tribes were never claimed by anyone else and were left completely alone besides The Fire Nation enacting genocide. If we are going to discuss “zutara colonization discourse”, then please do it right. Especially if y’all are gonna write long essays about it, given that all that time writing would end being partially for nothing since the thing you’re focusing on isn’t relevant to what anyone is saying.

Imo, atla has a bittersweet ending
Aang is sitting alone and wearing the air nomads clothes, his culture clothes, a necklace similar to GYATSO's necklace. I can't even imagine the emptiness and sadness he was feeling here
There are no airbenders in the crowd
All nation gathered..... except the air nomads.
No one else in the crowd wearing orange or yellow.
Aang won the war, but his people are still gone.
Yes, he has the Gaang, he has Katara, he has Momo and Appa. But he's still the last airbender.
This is so heartbreaking.

For those confused as to why i'm calling him a zionist
He liked this post by jordan brown on insta and later gave a half assed statement that he feels bad for both sides, then quietly cancelled his show in Kuala Lumpur bc fans were threatening not showing up.
Also turns out a company co-founded and supported by Eric Nam, Dive Studios, is pro israel
I discovered all of this last night, because i too was not aware of his political stance. Either way very disgusting and disappointing.
