He certainly hasn’t told any of them about his tough financial situation even though Fabian definitely could HELP, and I don’t think he’s even told them about why he made up Baron—about being ace and thus feeling left out when they all were in couples either.

Gotta love Tommy Shepherd, he's got like four sets of parental figures that could care about him but he either feels awkward around them or they just apparently forgot he exists. Like the only semi ok adult in his life is Master Pandemonium, who he's taking care of but he at least interacts with him.

Sorry for suddenly bringing up Spiderverse for the first time in like five months, but it kills me that the one character’s whose movie I most want to see dimension I most want to see in the movieverse is Jess Drew’s but I also know that it’s the one we’re LEAST likely to get because Sony doesn’t have the rights to the Avengers and unlike other Spideys, Jess’s most popular stories are built almost entirely around SHIELD and HYDRA. But like. Come on, isn’t utilizing them for this version of Jess so cool in theory?

Because I’m not a die hard comic book fan I specially haven’t ventured into reading Marvel comic since I was kind of little and had a crush on both Mystique and Nightcrawler but even I know Secret Invasion, and how Jessica Drew drew was key. She was replaced by Veranke, the very Skrull Queen. With this in mind, don’t you think an adapted Secret Invasion storyline would be sort of sick in contextualizing Jess’s actions in ASTV. NOT by making her secretly be an alien the whole time but rather, making her part of her dimension’s Avengers that had to deal with a Skrull Invasion, who she has to watch fall apart because everyone loved each other too much to distrust each other when they needed to. I remember watching the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes Secret Invasion adaptation, and the Skrulls only attacked when the Avengers gave them their the opportunity. When their attachment got rid of all reason and they trusted someone else knowing that they shouldn’t.

Wouldn’t that be a sort of badass explanation for Jess’s emotional distance in ASTV? Is that just my childhood nostalgia speaking?

And listen if Marvel allowing Sony to use the Avengers even in passing is unlikely, letting them do their own Secret Invasion take (even if just as a comicbook backstory flashback) is an even more impossible after their live action adaptation sorta flopped (or is it even out yet? i have little interest in watching it ever after their dumbass ai poster). But least let me enjoy my HC about movie Jess’s life before the Spider Society for a year or two, until the next film proves me otherwise. Even if it’s unlikely or if you just think it kinda sucks. SPECIALLY if you think it kinda sucks.

If Kipperlilly DOES end up betraying Porter/Jace as part of a secret other scheme she has (whether good or evil) and it has to do with saving Lucy, I just know she’s going to be a bitch about it and pull a ‘sorry, I only save High Five Heroes’ before leaving her other friends to die or some shit. And then she will take her final form: Magic Betty from Adventure Time, betraying her allies and saving her frost gf at the expense of the world. It would also parallel what Ankarna is going through (‘your girlfriend’s out of town, it sucks’, becoming a little imperialist rage machine under the influence of Porter/Sunstone but not being able to fully turn on Lucy despite going against her values and turning into a violent weirdo). The #GirlBoss movement in the MCU is extremely pseudo-feminist.

I could be totally off-base with this, but has anybody else noticed that here lately the mcu has had a slight pattern of making a few female characters ridiculously overpowered as well as turbo-hyped by the narrative and marketing…

This specifically includes Wanda, Carol Danvers, and Sylvie.

I’m in particular talking about how all 3 of them had far less time for character exploration and strength build-up than the majority of the other more powerful heroes, had fairly bland and uncreative personalities compared to the other more powerful heroes (Wanda was coddled by the narrative and not allowed to have any ownership in her wrongdoings which would’ve made her more complex, Carol was a victim of the “having the same arrogant attitude as the douchebro male characters is all it takes to make a Strong Female Character(TM)” writers’ mentality, and Sylvie with mary sue-ed to hell), and were generally made more about the cool powers and ‘oooh such a badass’ moments and the aesthetic than the actual depth.

My point is… they’re all so shallow and performative. It’s like the (mostly male) writers looked at the female character and scoffed and said “ok there’s no way this lady’s gonna become a fan fave on her own- we have to help her. We have to give her a boost. I have zero faith in women being able to gain popularity by their own merit (because who’d be interested in a woman, ammiright?), so we can’t just give her a compelling backstory and let that be it. We have to make sure she has the most tragic backstory of anyone on screen at any given time, and we have to make sure the audience knows it! We can’t just give her a specific set of powers and depict them in an interesting and unique way. We have to make her stronger than any other character she’s going to share screen time with and we have to have her flaunt her powers every ten minutes to remind the audience how strong she is! We can’t just make her intelligent in her own way and give her witty banter with the male characters. We have to make sure she makes them look like idiots and condescends them as frequently as possible so the audience knows it! We can’t just flesh out her morals and let her get things wrong sometimes. We have to make it so she’s always in the right and the audience should always be on her side! And even when she does something wrong, we have to make sure the audience knows that it wasn’t really her fault and she still has the moral high ground! That’s the only way we’ll ever get people to like her as much as the main male characters!!”

It’s just…. This is just rank with a lack of confidence in women. They approach the idea of having women front and center with equal parts skepticism and greed. They’re so out of touch with what women want in superhero films and just what women want in general. They fall into the trap of thinking feminists want everyone to know that girls are actually superior to guys, when in reality we just want to be treated with the respect and humanity and agency guys have always been treated with.

And by creating these female characters the way they do (making sure they’re not equal but decidedly better than the male ones, making sure they’re nearly infallible strength-wise, making sure they’re never allowed to be held accountable for mistakes) they literally defeat that whole point. They’re being extremely counterproductive to what feminists are actually trying to do, because they aren’t actually interested giving women genuinely good representation- they’re just interested in pandering to Twitter stans and casual female fans who form their opinions based on a first glance and girls who are so starved for rep that they’ll praise movie-makers for serving up rank crumbs.

They give us female representation but not really, just like they give us queer representation but not really, and like they give us poc representation but oftentimes not really…. Because (surprise surprise) the multi-billion dollar corporation does not actually give a shit about minority issues.

I also am really excited to see him dynamic with Kate in particular given their relationships with Tommy and Clint.

Why Marvel colourists made him white again when they're consistent with Wanda's skin tone is beyond me.

not to sound like a monster fucker but I have a guilty pleasure for human/ non-human ships. I like what wanda/vision says about Wanda’s character and it’s very fitting to me she would have a significant romance with a mysterious otherworldly being. Her shape of water moment fr I love that for her.

That being said vision is somewhat of a plague to the maximoffs. While I enjoy the good moments of their relationships I think it’s vastly outweighed by the bad. I don’t blame vision for the white vision stuff or other robo-shenanigans. But both wanda AND pietro were so often turned into props in service of vision’s drama. And man they loved to drag it out. This wasn’t always the case but it happened enough to cause some serious and permanent damage to their characters. That’s my real problem with wanda/vision and the reason I have no attachment for this ship.

I appreciate the tender moments of their relationship and that vision will always be connected to the maximoffs in one way or another, but I’m just so sick of him constantly coming back into their spheres, especially because half the time it’s always about centring the robot. The fact that all this scarletvision bait as of late is to pander to mcu fans just makes me even more bitter towards the pairing. They broke up like 30 years ago marvel move on!
