S3 E8 Supernatural
This is a Christmas Episode! I'd be great if it wasn't April but here we go!
The flash backs to the Christmas they had as kids? When Sam first figured out what John actually does? Then Sam gave Dean the present he got for John then Dean wore it for for ever? Guys I'm crying. And then in the future Dean wants one more Christmas and Sam gives it to him! AHHHH

We talk abt the Robin's replacing one another but I don't think we talk abt Jon replacing Kon enough.
Before Kon was Kon, he was Superboy. An unnamed experiment, that if not called superboy, or kid, was literally called "experiment 13." The mantle of superboy wasn't just a mantle. It was his entire identity.
And I know we talk abt how Robin mantle becomes part of each Robin's identity... but the thing is, before being Robin, each did have a spectate identity. Kon was superboy. He was created to be superboy.
And it took so long for Clark to acknowledge him, this kid working for Cadmus Labs because if he didn't, how would he survive? He had no parents, because Superman rejected him.
Now imagine you have a little sibling, one who was actually wanted- you were a mistake baby, ignored and rejected, even unnamed for a long time, but still kept so you couldn't go yo any other family. Now imagine that sibling is given your first name.
And it's OK for a while because they get along, and Kon is happy to have a family, and it's a little wierd and it all feels a little wrong but it's OK because he has a family now, he's more than Superboy now, it's OK except it isn't.
Because this kid, the perfect, happy kid that they actually wanted has taken Superboy but then he comes back older, and now He's going to be Superman too. Kon was created to be Superman, was treated like shit by loads of ppl because he was Superman's clone... and now he will never be Superman. What is Kon if not the Superman to be? What is his purpose, if not to fulfill the life he started from the moment he got out of that tube? What was the point of it all, if he isn't superboy and he isn't Superman?
He has had his identity taken away. And I would argue that its harsher than the Robin's, because for a long time, for his formative years, that was all he was.
It's not Jon's fault. But Clark should have helped the 2 to come up with separate identities. He should have named Kon when he first met him, or handed him over to someone else so he could have a family, rather than ignoring him, unless to scold him.
The Robin's deserved better, yes, and I'm glad Kon and Jon get along, but Kon deserved better. And I think we should look into the effects of being replaced would have affected him. I dont think Kon and Jon's relationship should be changed to be more negative, I'd just like to see Kon rightfully upset at Clark who should have done something, and possibly some angst pls and ty

One of the things that’s fascinating about Superboy to me as a shameless powerscaler is that he’s like. Right on the edge of being too powerful. There’s a line between characters that can be active heroes and beings that are so powerful as to basically be gods, who have to be shuffled off to their own corners of canon and only show up for really big cosmic threats so as to not break the plausibility of the setting. Superman stays out of Gotham, Silver Surfer stays out in space, Jean Gray dies if she goes full Phoenix. Kon should be in that category, but no one at DC pays enough attention to him to realize it.
Can you imagine? A character who is basically Jean Gray and Superman combined, but no one ever thinks about it because he wears silly shades and a leather jacket and his telekinesis has a minor range limitation that he’s outgrowing. If you seriously introduced a character like that, the idea of them being an oft-ignored minor character would be laughable.
And yet, somehow Kon sneaks in under the radar! At least part of it is the Kryptonian powerset, obviously. Between the various members of the Superfam and the many copies and parodies across different settings, we get used to treating all those very powerful abilities as one thing, so it doesn’t feel like as big a deal to add all of them onto one other power, especially when Tactile Telekinesis is often forgotten or underused by writers who can’t manage inventive power use.
But what it all adds up to is one of the most powerful characters in DC canon, with a huge amount of room to grow, being consistently treated as a minor sidekick. It’s truly wild.

S3 E7 Supernatural
Gordon Gordon Gordon, he's so interesting. We've seen vampires being not monsters, the vegan vamps, and semi Dixon in this episode, they've just wanted a family or to be left alone. this shows that vampires are not inherently evil, that can be neutral or even good. But the second Gordon becomes a Vampire he leans into the monster, like when people are given a mask so they feel as if they don't need to sensor themselves anymore. Gordon has turned so that's means he's a monster, he can do the monstrous things, kidnap a girl turn her and it's not him it's the vampire nature. He believes his actions aren't his own anymore, but in the act of killing himself and Sam it's makes him different the other supernatural creatures cus he's doing the 'right thing'.
Sam and Dean in this episode are interesting too. Sam knows Dean, it's his big brother who he's looked up to for decades, and how Dean is acting is what he does when he scared. Plus on top of that Dean is being reckless cus he's gonna die anyway. Sam wants Dean to admit he's not ok and let him help. but Dean doesn't get the idea that his little brother want to help HIM, that's just not how he grew up, it's HIM talking care of Sam. Sam doesn't want this 'im fine' act Dean is puting up he wants his brother. The end of the episode Dean, in his own way, is giving Sam what he wants and more. Teaching Sam how to fix the Impala is a big brother thing, later it might give Sam something of Dean to make him feel better and it's also something Sam can fix, cus he feels like he can't fix anything anymore. Their's so just so much in this episode.

Oh this is a good one, Bela is back. She fucked around and found out. Dean had a hallmark moment, walking down the stairs to reveal they look great all dressed up. "Can I shoot her?" "Not in public". Dean and Bela have a fun dynamic, and I like Bela she's cool. And that last scene? With Sam being upset that Dean cares more about how he feels then about him going to hell. Oooooo it's got layers, Dean has basically been conditioned to protect Sam, Sam is the most important, no matter what Sam lives but now Sam is telling him to worry about himself and he just doesn't get it. Sam's alive and safe so why would it matter what happens to Dean?

Sam and Dean fighting over how Sam wants to save Dean but Dean has accepted that he made his bed. The hunt being about someone who is hanging on too tight to the last of their family but let go cus it was the right thing to do, paralleling what Dean wants Sam to do. Sam refusing to take that as an answer so he summons the crossroads demon, but finds out that even if he kills them the deal will still go through and then Sam kills the demon anyway. 😭 he's desperately trying to make sure Dean doesn't die, my heart is breaking💔

season one of supernatual is so funny to me. sam and dean will literally show up to the crime scene in some fuck ass flannels and dean is in his leather jacket and the cops are like "who the hell are you?" and dean will be like "oh, us? well we are obviously from the us fish and wildlife service who else could we possibly be???"
meanwhile theyre in the craziest outfits known to mankind with no badge or anything, so the cops will ask for their IDs and they'll hand them the most unconvincing fake id you'll ever see. the thing will be crumpled to no return and look like it was all hand written by a toddler and SOMEHOW THE COPS STILL BELIEVE THEM??
and then, they'll start questioning the victims family like "aw man :( I'm so sad for you :( that must be really hard :( so like what happened? and on a completely separate note, did you see anything? feel a temp drop? did you feel a cold spot? did you see something weird? like a creature mayhaps? like a ghost? did you see a ghost? do you believe in ghosts? please tell me it's a ghost?" like that's a totally normal line of questioning for a random drowning from two members of the us fish and wildlife service.

Ruby the helpful demon is back and helped Bobby get the colt working. I liked Dean's conversation with Demon Casey, it's interesting to see a demon's POV. We learn They have their own religion, that the yellow eyed demon's name is Azazel, and since Sam isn't leading the army they demon's are left with no leader.

Sam is a Poor Little Meow Meow this episode. He's had bad luck and lost his shoe 🥺. Poor little meow meow also played soccer as a kid that's probably the most normal part of his childhood. Also he's apparently the AntiChrist and Gordon wants him dead from prison.
