Here's the meme poll I promised. Literally there's thousands of memes from animated films but only 10 slots available so I just chose some of the classics ones. Let me know what other characters there are maybe i'll make a 2nd poll.
To add context to what I said yesterday about Twitter and the new SpongeBob episode.
Pretty much EVERYONE who I saw talk about it on Twitter, talked about the first 20 second of the episode as seen above.
Literally every time I saw something about this episode, it was about how this opening 20 seconds is "over animated or overstimulating" and how SpongeBob "fell off after season 3" y'know, the usual stuff.
Of course there were also some "Stephen Hillenberg would be angry at what there doing with SpongeBob these days." The absolute WORST excuse they could come up with.
Now, I usually would just ignore these kinds of comments, especially coming from Twitter. But I want you to remember, THIS WAS ONLY ABOUT THE FIRST 20 SECONDS OF THE EPISODE. I never once saw a single comment or reply about any other part of the episode, which leads me to believe that, a majority of the people who commented, DIDN'T EVEN WATCH THE REST OF THE 2 MINUTE CLIP.
Yes I understand that Classic SpongeBob did not rely on heavy animation for it's comedy, but the whole point of the beginning being overly animated in this specific episode is to show how excited and happy SpongeBob is to go to work. They use this animation tactic to set up him being upset when he finds out the Krusty Krab is closed, and that sets up the rest of the episode.
All that, and nobody even noticed because of the "new SpongeBob bad" mentality. I truly do believe that most people who see these clips, are people who haven't seen SpongeBob since they were young, and when they see these "over animated" scenes, they just immediately go "Wow new SpongeBob relies to much on animation now." And then completely miss the point of those scenes and what they're setting up.
This was a long rant, sorry if I sounded like I was being rude there, I'm just really tired of how this series is treated these days by everyone. If it's not something to do with "Stephen Hillenberg wouldn't like this" it's just people bashing the show because it changed. Things change, that's just life.
