Short Story

You appeared as everything I wanted and left as nothing I needed,

You were the perfect definition of God teaches you lessons that are needed,

I loved everything about you, yes I said loved,

Because everything you ever said to me was a dream I loved,

Patience had never been for me and my biggest pet peeve manifested into you,

Even though I tried my best to wait on you,

Age means nothing but time means everything and we have not healed,

I feel bad because now we have two scars that have to be healed,

My words cut deep and I apologize but hurt people hurt people,

And I was tired of being alone with the hurt people,

I guess it’s true misery does love company,

And my soul was okay with you being it’s company,

But why couldn’t you compromise for my needs as I tried to do for you,

I only wanted to make you happy and help you love you for you,

Long story short, I’m sorry I wasted a bit of your time,

But I do know wounds will always heal with time.

This topic has been on my mind for quite some time now. Generational traumas are cycles of traumas passed down from our ancestors and elders in the family. These traumas are not healthy and continue to cycle until someone breaks those chains. I realized that with my family, I have to be the one to break these cycles of trauma and stigmas of mental health. My family have major problem when it comes to mental health. It was always hushed, shamed and dismissed in my family. I come to the conclusion that in order to stop the cycle, that it had to start with me. I had to be the one to speak up and say what others may have been to scared to say or didn't want to say to keep from hurting others. Yet keeping silent is more violent than anything. I understand the responsibility when it comes to breaking the chains and I know God always have my back. I'm ready to break these cycles for the sake of my children and grandson. The more I speak on mental health, the more it can not be ignored. We have too many people taking their own lives because not feeling accepted and feeling dismissed. We can not continue this habit of staying silent. It is not working period! One day I pray that my family could get it together soon and understand why I am so passionate about breaking the cycles and empowering each of us to stick together. If you are reading this and feel as though it is up to you to break the generational traumas within your life and family, I say go for it! You could be saving a life as well as detaching of old beliefs that just doesn't work for 2020. So take the reins and start the process of reprogramming your thoughts, feelings and beliefs. Keep fighting!

PROCRASTINATION • I've been thinking a lot about why I don't do the things I NEED to do even when I KNOW I need to do them, you know? LIKE WHY CATE?! • and what I've realized (for me at least) is that the things I procrastinate are the tasks where I know I'm going to have to create or do something. I struggle with creating because am a perfectionist. I don’t like putting out substandard stuff. So I end up postponing my deadline because I believe I will get a better way of doing it. Hence, even when I get the better way, I still believe I can do much better. • So,if I take a step back and remind myself that nothing is always perfect, So why delay taking a step? It’s fucked up.

To be invisible and not ever seen as important.

You’re simply just a bystander, standing by in hopes that someone will notice you.

It gets lonely at the top well evidently you’ve never seen the bottom.

Rocks keep falling to see how deep the hole goes, but they never hear it hit the bottom.

It’s a never ending darkness that nobody is brave enough to claim.

Instead we search and make excuses to have someone to blame.

Take accountability for your missing parts and learn to let go of those people who don’t.

You deserve to be loved and an out from being around ppl who won’t.

Catch on to your soul & listen to it more darling.

The men you keep going after don’t listen at all, ain’t that shit alarming?

Red flags are red for a reason girl, they’re meant to be seen.

Shift your focus into the bag baby; All you should see is green.

These men don’t mean much, you should know that.

It’s time to move on, no need to play get back.

Always believe in yourself even when others don't! You are so amazing just the way you are! Never forget that! Oh you say, "but I have flaws?"!... well you are flawsome to me!!
