Can you keep the volume down. Can you get me some water and my sunglasses from the glovebox.'#and of course the incredible wham line of 'Xue Yang Must Die.'#'Is YX irredeemable? I'm pro 'everyone is capable of change and deserves a chance.' So Im of the camp of 'if he had the opportunity...maybe #The issue is that this setting has no structure to provide those opportunities. You are perceived as a threat therefor you must die #XY is a very interesting parallel to the YLLZ because they both meet the same fate: outsiders determining that they need to be killed #plus both did war crimes. I know it's easy to forget the YLLZ actually did do some of the things he was accused of (most wrong)#but wwx also has blood on his hands. He also sought revenge in pretty twisted ways. Both were given opportunities to step away and refused #The difference is that we empathize with and like XXC & SL and A-Qing. The Narrative says they were wronged and that is an injustice.'

hmmmm, what to say, what to say. idk i'm proud of the story but not too proud of the writing here. we shall see how it holds up. i basically never write anything even remotely close to canon lol so. anyway CW: death, implied murder

“Avada Kedavra!” he hears. And no, no it can’t be. There were only two Order members fighting him and Bellatrix. The chances that he’s still alive are slim. Regulus pulls off his mask, coughing as the surrounding smoke fills his lungs. He looks around but he can’t see another person anywhere, the air too thick. Then he hears the maniacal laughter. No. No, absolutely not.

Regulus tears off through the smoke, tripping over stones here and there and catching himself. The tripping and the smoke don’t even register to his senses anymore. He’s consumed with sheer terror. As the shrieking laughter grows louder, Regulus sees two figures emerge. One is crumpled on the ground, lifeless. Regulus freezes. If it’s him…

He can’t even bear the thought. His wand falls to the ground and his skin goes white. Then the figure turns around. The laughter cuts off instantly.

“Fuck,” the voice says, looking at Regulus staring at the lifeless body. “Reg, I’m so sorry I-” All the air rushes back into Regulus’ lungs as he recognizes the voice of James Potter talking to him. The body on the ground is Bellatrix. He immediately falls to the ground sobbing. He’s okay. His James is okay. And he just killed his cousin. Regulus could not give less of a fuck about Bellatrix’s death. Not when James is right here.

“Reg, oh my god. She just came at me and-”

“Shut the fuck up, idiot,” Regulus hiccups through his crying. And James shuts his mouth. Regulus pushes himself up to stand, rushing forward and throwing himself into James’ arms. James seems startled at first, but he quickly wraps his arms around Regulus and holds him tight. This is where he was meant to be, how could he ever forget? “You’re alive,” he chokes. James moves his hands to Regulus’ cheeks and pulls his face back so their eyes meet.

“Merlin, I’ve missed you,” he says. The scrutiny of James’ eyes scanning his face makes Regulus squirm, but James doesn’t seem displeased in the slightest by whatever he finds.

“I rather fucked everything up didn’t I?” Regulus asks, looking away. James pulls him right back to look at him.

“It’s never too late, Regulus.”

“It isn’t?” Regulus asks, searching James’ face for the lie, but there is none. And oh, how he missed looking at James’ face. How he missed being here, in his arms, and just being close to him.

“No,” James smiles. He presses a light kiss to Regulus’ forehead. “And I’ve never stopped loving you. Not for a second.” Those simple words reignite the spark in Regulus he thought had died long ago. That of passion, of love, of all the things that made him him before they were stripped away. Maybe James is right. Maybe it isn’t too late.

He takes a chance, and kisses James. And the way James can’t stop smiling into it, and the way he picks Regulus up to twirl him around makes him believe that he still has a chance to make things right.

The smoke still surrounds them, but Regulus can’t even see it in the presence of James’ light.

Lowkey obsessed with the idea of Cafe Uzumaki being a hotbed for former ability user criminals. Like sure so far it's only Lucy who's decided to get a job in the cafe....

#cal rambles #dndads #their relationship is one ive BEEN thinking abt but actually this episode very much solidified it #as something really interesting i think.#BIG fan of Hero being initially raised by all the kiddads and therefore she knows them better than the other teens #i like the idea that theyre all kinda like weird uncles to her <3 yk the family friends that u call aunt and uncle #but aren't actually related to u #anyways. cries #before i was like haha it would be really cute if Hero's inital facination with video games #originated from Grant when he babysitted her as a kid #and then. this episode. OUGFFGGFGH #something something being forced to kill a living being in an intimate and grotesque way by ur father figure #and being told its for your own good. but all it did was fuck you up #one of my fav hcs of Hero is that she inherited the bulk of the oak family anger issues #that is to say. shes got a very short temper but also the tendency to repress it until it explodes #unlike Henry I think she does this partially unintentionally. she forces it down under a layer of apathy #from the moment she was born with the intention of being raised to be the chosen one #her situation has been unfair #and shes been angry at that unfairness for so goddamn long. and there wasn't much she could do about it #so her options were be continiously furious or repress it disassociate and feel nothing #if shes angry she could lash out and she's powerful. oh god she's powerful. she already has blood on her hands. she doesnt want more.#so she keeps it all in a tight little bundle and presses it down where it belongs #you see where im going with this. cries #anyways i just want to see them interact so bad ough i want to chew drywall #grants exposure to violence caused him to enter a disassociative state where only more violence could bring him out of #which caused him to seek more violence despite all the guilt and bad feelings attached #bc he wanted to FEEL something and it was the only way to do that #versus Hero. whos exposure to violence caused her to similarly numb her emotions #except i think more violence makes it worse. the state she has to put herself in to do violence is too emotionally taxing to get in & out of #so she actively avoids it avoids even thinking of it in order to feel like a real person

'i fucking hate you let me help you you dumb evil cunt' and aramis says 'no <3'#you know i have this thing where i am OBSESSED with finding the one moment where a character condemns themselves for good.#the one moment when they figuratively sign the contract for their perdition. that up to that moment they could still be saved somehow.#for rodrigo it is when he tries to kill eboli (in the play). for don giovanni it is when he refuses elvira's plea to change #(NOT when he accepts il commendatore's invite mind you)#and i feel like THIS is that moment for aramis.#the fact that it comes from d'artagnan is so just so fucking agsjssgsgsh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and of course he says no.#there is no version of this where he lets himself be helped. he has to say no he will always say no.#but boy oh boy is this making me bang my head against the wall.#the three musketeers #les trois mousquetaires #vicomte de bragelonne #alexandre dumas
