When I first saw his face I knew he was a really bad person, but I don’t think I truly knew how bad he was. Even still, I talked about him to my friend, and we talked... A lot. It was like the more I talked about him, the more I loved about him. I didn’t realize it then, but I think that’s where it all started. Eventually I got to the entirety of his character arc and I saw what an evil bastard he truly was. Part of me still wants to pull his ear and curse him out a million times for what he did. The other part of me knows why he did what he did. Just because I know, doesn’t make it okay.
But even if he was such a bad person, I was in love with him. I wanted him to win, even just a little bit. Maybe not continue what he was doing - I didn’t want him to have Eri, but I wanted him to be able to go back to his Pops and tell him that he would work hard to be the man that his father would have wanted him to be. I... Didn’t want him to lose everything, I just wanted him to lose the fight.
It was a little after reading the ending of his character arc that I realized that it was Love. That I genuinely wanted to help him build himself up to be a better person. That I don’t think he’s truly as evil and one sided as he must have seemed. Yes, he did absolutely evil things. No, I don’t forgive him for that. It’s one of the things we argue over and over and over again about. But I think that he was just trying to repay his Pops. I think he thought that since Pops gave him his life, it was the natural balance of things for him to take Eri’s life. It wasn’t. He was so wrong for that. I’ll never be able to forgive him.
But I love him. And love doesn’t always mean that you agree, just that you want to work with your partner to become the best person possible.

So, the first episode, you only get partial shots from his back & etc, slowly building up this terrifying shadow of a man who practically has the entire city under his control. & then, his voice is supplied by the fantastic Andrew Scott, so if I wasn't enamored already, I totally would've sold my soul to this fearsome fiend before ever seeing his face lol
So once they finally reveal his face & all, I was totally in love - like, how dare they go & design this perfect scrawny, fancy, goth mad scientist & as if I wouldn't have fallen totally in love with him immediately how DARE!!
So it was kind of an immediate love at first sight thing with me & him. Maybe it's totally lame, but that's my story, at least!
