Lucifer is a busy demon
You never fail to notice the irritation he has when he wakes up and has to make coffee, it takes time off of his schedule for the day.
So, you made a plan to wake up before he did and make him a fresh cup of coffee and go back to bed before he comes into the kitchen
Lucifer was delighted and much happier throughout the day when we wakes up to the strong smell of his coffee
But eventually his curiosity gets the best of him.
Who has been making his coffee for him, and who knows him well enough to make sure there is enough for 3 cups?
He has a strong idea who it is once he realizes you are harder to get up in the morning since the mystery coffee started.
Lucifer decides to catch you in the act, to answer his suspicions and thank you
The Devildom is still dark, clouds blocking out any sunlight from the human and celestial realm. It's around 6 in the morning, your bare feet are cold against the long hallways of the house of lamentation.
The house is getting colder as the seasons pass, your having to wear a sweater or a robe when you wake up in the early mornings. Maybe you should mention to Lucifer that he should think about turning on the heaters at night.
Your rub your eyes triedly when walking into the kitchen. Flipping on the light above the stove, you turned the coffee maker on, the small bulbs lighting up the darker area. You reached above the coffee pot and dug out a paper filter and the ground coffee.
Once you cleaned out the pot, you set it in the maker. You opened the package of filters and put on it along with the ground coffee beans. The smell is strong, almost enough to make your eyes water.
Lucifer likes his coffee black and some water to thin it out. It reminds you of your father, he likes his coffee the same way. You smile fondly of the thought of your dad.
Your body tenses when the coffee makers makes a rumbling sound as it begins the process of making the coffee.
You lean against the counter and watch the steam flow out any open space, the brown liquid pouring into the glass pot. You felt your soul leave you body when the kitchen lights flicked on.
Lucifer, in all his glory, stood at the entrance of the kitchen. Sleep still visible in his tired eyes, his hair slightly sticking up, his silk PJs wrinkled and sticking to his robe. You blush at the sight.
"MC" His voice is groggy and dry, but he had a small, kind smile on his face. "Hi Luci" You make sure to stay quiet, not wanting to wake anyone else up.
"So it has been you? Waking up at such early hours just to please me?" His voice is low and teasing but there is genuine happiness in his voice.
"Yes, I noticed you got irritated and it took a lot of time out of your day to make it" You explained, pressing your palms against the cold, marble countertop.
Lucifer hummed and walked over to you, his slipper gently hitting the hardwood floor. His ruby eyes never leaving you, his smile never fading.
When he got to you he brought you into a hug, his hand in your hair his other around your waist and shoulders. You smiled and wrapped your arms around him, hooking themselves under his arms and resting on his shoulder blades.
Your cheek pressed against his toned chest, your eyes closed as you and him begin to sway. His head rested on yours while he held you close. His chest vibrated as he started humming, it's faint and quiet; only you and him are able to hear it.
Lucifer never has or had someone to care for him in such a little way, but it effects him so deeply he can't help but fall more in love with you.
You have such a kind soul, he had sensed it ever since you arrived. He doesn't know what he did to deserve you, but he is eternally grateful.

I truly believe The Great Mammon, is forgetful af.
He is always leaving something he needs behind.
Like his sunglasses, his favorite necklace, his favorite pair of earrings, even his car keys, or his favorite powdered foundation for modeling sessions.
The list goes on and on.
You noticed his forgetful habit before you even started dating him.
You constantly reminded him, a few or more times before he left the house but he always manages to leave something behind.
While you and the boy's were out at the mall one day, you decided to get him something to keep all of his things in.
A purse was a little to girly and he'd probably be embarrassed to carry it around, tho yk he would try just for you.
A wallet was to small to hold his car keys and foundation.
Plus, he already has a gold wallet he kept with him everywhere he went, even in his sleep.
Then you found it, the perfect thing just for your Mammon.
You just so happen to find it in Bath & Body works. The small black bag was perfect. It was big enough to hold his car keys and anything on the bigger side, but also had smaller pockets for jewelry and extra grim.
You couldn't help but smile, your chest buzzing with joy. You grabbed the bag and stepped in line. The line was long, all the demons are impatient, big or small. Always grumbling under their breath.
You always felt uncomfortable around all of them, especially when you didn't have one of the brothers with you. They despise you for being human, they think it's fun to pick and make fun of you. For literally anything under the dark sky of the Devildom.
You've learned to ignore it, one of the brothers or you handsome boyfriend usually scares the shit out of them anyway, but when it's just yourself your are a little more vigilant.
"Hi, this all for Ya?" The cashier was faux friendly, of course. Her name badge crooked and her hair was unneat and definitely unkept.
"Yes" You handed her the bag and got out the credit card Lucifer and Mammon had made for you an only you.
She gave you the biggest side eyes you've ever received. The card is black and gold, the royal stamp in the middle of it. A sparkly Gold outlining the edges making a pattern towards the marking on the back. The mark of the greedy, you and Mammon's pact mark.
You knew he would know once you mad a purchase. His pact mark stinging as you got greedy when buying something, a courtesy of having the bond with the Avatar of greed. Always craving something more, always wanting and needing it. The items would shine and beckon you in, temptation tugging at you.
You swallowed the thought of buying the whole store and quickly left. You could feel the greed seeping into your soul.
"Oi! MC!" Mammon's voice quickly brought you out of your tempting thoughts. You watched him jog towards you, his limba ring glowing a beautiful gold.
"Hi Mams" You said breathlessly, your own eyes shining a bright yellow. Mammon's face flushed, his pact mark stinging into his skin. But it felt so good when it did, he need it to sting more, to watch you get greedy infront of him or, even better, for him.
"I got you something" You smile so softly, it brings him to his knees.
"O-Of course you got the Great Mammon something, who wouldn't?" He grinned and curiously watched you hand him the white and blue plastic bag.
Mammon's face was bright red, his hands reached into the shopping bag and took out his gift. His eyes shines with happiness, a bright smile engulfing his beautiful face.
"I got it to hold the things your forgetting all the time, you just put it in there so it's all together" You explained holding into his free hand and swinging it back in forth.
Mammon wanted to cry. You are so perfect. So kind, so sweet to him. His perfect human. All to himself.
He brought you into a bone crushing hug, the bag you got him he held tightly in his hands. You giggled and hugged him back, running your fingers along his spine and shoulders.
Mammon made sure to always keep the bag with him, a small picture of you and him tucked away in his wallet and that bag. He also spoiled the shit outta you at the mall that day.

Levi is probably the second most untidy out of his brothers, next to Mammon.
Games all over the floor near his tv, his dirty clothes basket overflowing with clothes, his blankets unwashed.
Its just a mess.
And I picture you as sort of a neat freak some days, you don't mind the mess it's just not and organized mess?
Levi is embarrassed about his room and he does try to make a mental note to keep it cleaner for when your around but he forgets. To engrossed by his games to remember.
You know he trys to remember to clean it but, Levi can't help himself when all of his gaming friends are playing in he's not
He is the Avatar of Envy after all.
So while he games and you are just hanging out in his room, you decide to pick up his cave.
But only behind him so he can't see, Levi doesn't really notice nor does he hear it, his headset on all the way.
He does notice after you are gone how his room feels cleaner, bigger. Maybe it was just your calming presences.
You do this quite often, and you even clean up his games on the floor when he's at a student council meeting.
DO NOT ENTER
The sign on your boyfriends door reads. You are surprised Levi gave you permission to go into his room without him there. It make you smile knowing that he trusts you enough.
It's almost and intimate thing. His room is his safe space, where he can be himself and not be bothered by his brothers. Where he can watch all of his shows without being teased. Where he can cosplay all of his favorite characters and daydream of what they'd be like in person.
You find all of this adorable, it's what makes Levi, Levi.
When you are inside his room, Your are hesitant in cleaning up his gaming space, that is almost sacred. So you decide to leave it be untill you ask his permission. But his room is starting to smell from Levi's dirty clothes that continues to pile up against the wall.
You begin by separating his nice clothes form his everyday clothes, those go to the dry cleaners on Tuesday. The rest go into your laundry basket and down to the laundry room.
You hope the meeting will be and extra bit longer today, so you could be in and out before Levi and the brothers get home. If Lucifer found out you were the one doing his laundry and picking up his room, he'd hang you and Levi off the roof like Mammon.
You have your headphones on, one ear isn't covered so you could hear the loud stomping of the boys when they get home. You start humming with the song that rings into you ears, your head bobbing with the beat.
You carry down a load of Levi's laundry. You get the washer ready and start it, his shirts getting wet as the washer fills with water. You bring the rest of his shirts and his socks and put them into the second washer, that sits underneath the first one. With 8 people living in one house you have to have more than one washer and dryer.
While his clothes are washing, you decide to clean around his bed and dust things off. Henry, you and Levi's adopted son, watches out of his fish tank. You lift things up and dust underneath them but set them right where they once were.
After dusting, you clean up all the trash around his tub and put it in his little Ruri trash can next to his night stand. You check all the wrappers to make sure they don't have anything Levi would like on them before throwing them away.
You fail to notice your headphones slipping onto your uncovered ear. But you continued on with making his Tub the most comfortable it could be. His Ruri pillow directly where he likes it.
Being so occupied in your own little world and the music blasting in you ears, you didn't hear the heard of elephants coming up the stairs and Levi opening his bedroom door.
Levi watched you with a dark blush on his face. How you finished making his tub the way he likes it, the way you folded his clothes and set them neatly in his dresser. And all with a small smile on your face.
"Uh, MC." Levi finally spoke, his hands in his jacket pocket. When you didn't answer he saw you had headphones on. He knows you weren't purposely ignoring him, but he felt envy creeping up on him.
He knew he had to thank you in some way, but his anxiety spikes at the thought, his envy washing away. He decided on the just hugging you from behind, but he didn't want to scare you.
Levi slowly tapped your shoulder, you could feel someone in the room with you but you choose to ignore it. You have a very good idea who it is now. You slip your headphones off and see Levi's pale hand on your shoulder.
"Hi Levi" Your voice was so quiet and calming, you weren't surprised at all. His face was tinted a cute pink, his ears red.
"MC, Can...Can you stay turned that way?" He requested. You nodded and faced away from him.
A few seconds later you felt his slim arms around your waist, his head laying against your neck and shoulders. His breathing was fast, and his heartbeat was quick. You smiled and layed your hands over his.
"Thank you"
You almost missed it, his voice so quiet, his chest rumbled against you as he spoke. You smiled and leaned back against him.
This was Levi's way of saying thank you and showing affection You couldn't be more proud of him. He is slowly getting over his shyness and Tsuendere attitude. But You wouldn't have it any other way.

Note: I'm using a translator for Spanish. You can correct me if you want. [The way I made this fic so random]
When it said: "I can't eat raw fish" (but, for sure, we're gonna eat some raw fish 🤭) [help. I'm being held hostage by my friend unless I type this. Help]
Part 2 —
Honestly. You were just on a small land, but enough resources to live at least. You're the only person who lives there, but some people visit left and right sometimes. You had a very calm and peaceful life until you accidentally....fish out a VERY big....fish?
You dragged him up even though he was a little heavy with both of your arms hooked with his or just. Straight up carrying him princess style. (Or even dragging him by the tail)
You. Were. Stunned.....you fished out a Merman?! Honestly, you thought mermaids were just fairytales, but I guess not since you're seeing one right now! (Damn, but this one is a hot lookin fish— I mean. Merman)
You were panicking. Should you run? Or check if it's alive? Ask him if he's ok? Wait. Can he even speak english? Or can he even speak at all??? While you were in the abyss of your thoughts, the unknown merman just stared at you.
When you finally collected your thoughts, you felt water spashing on you, well. Not that much. It's more like sprinkling since he's just shaking his hair from the water. He suddenly backed away from you, claws open. (Wait....fish has claws?—)
You put both of your hands in the air as a sign of peace. Not wanting to be looked as a threat. He tilted his head and just slowly backed away, slipping back into the water. Welp, that's gonna be the last time you'll ever see such a beauty again.
You laid there, fishing rod in your hand as you wait for a fish to pull on the string. Basking in the sunlight in such comfort that you could fall asleep if it wasn't for a certain stare burning a hole through you...
Miguel frowning as he watched you just sitting there. Not even bothering to look who was staring at you and just letting them. (Him)
He wonders why you're just. There. You don't even bother going back to that place called a city. You just. Stayed. He's been actually stalking watching you for a while. Waiting for the moment for you to leave to make his heart stop racing and ache.
But not for a single moment, you never left. He even tried many tactics to make you leave, like leaving fish blood, dead bodies of ocean animals, or anything! But. You just...shrugged.
He became increasingly interested in you. Even to the point his tail is wagging like a dog waiting for its owner excitedly. He found out you fell asleep as he sneakily went up to you, dragging his body with his arms. Finally, getting a good look on you, he felt memorized.
Before he left, he tried nuzzling his face to yours, feeling the soft flesh against his. Just like how he saw other humans showing physical affection to each other. Feeling satisfied, he left in a swift motion before you woke up.
The next day, you decided to fish again as it's now your hobby since it's been a bit boring ever since you came to the land. You flinched when you felt a hand that felt like it was soaked in water, taking off your hat that was covering your face.
You see the same handsome merman, looking at you in curiosity. Pausing as you don't know what to do. You put your hand out for him since he kept staring at it as if interested. He slowly and softly put his head on your hand. Nuzzling it as his tail seemed to swish left to right in a wagging motion.
You were about to say something until he went back into the water and after a few minutes, he rose up from the water with a fish in his mouth. He went closer to you, reaching for your lap as he dropped the fish in your hands.
"You....want me to eat this?"
He nodded. Oh. Wait. Seems like he knows english-
You just put it back behind your back, "thanks. I will, uhh, eat it later."
He frowned. Making you feel very nervous. So you just tried walking away to get things to maybe make a fireplace so you can at least cook it to make it edible for you. He noticed this and grabbed your wrist, thinking that your leaving him.
He pulled you over to him, hugging you tightly and not letting go. "Uhh...Mermaid man, im trying to-"
"My name is....Miguel. Not Mermaid Man."
You were stunned. He could also speak? You patted his head as he snuggled you closer.
"no me dejes solo...por favor?"
You paused. Thinking what to do. You'll just simply tell him, "I can't eat raw fish, pretty boy."
He paused at the mention to him as pretty boy. He quickly lets you go, looking away so you can't see the blush on his face. You quietly went away, getting some wood for the fireplace.
After you come back, you see him, miguel in the water, waiting for you. You patted your lap as Miguel hesitantly but hurryingly comes over to you. He flinched when you put a wet towel on his neck where his gills were but slowly got comfortable. (I think Mermaids need their gills to not be dry so they can breathe)
He watches you cook the fish and take a bite out of it. You offered one to him as he took a bite out of it. After a few minutes, he tugged your sleeves. Looking at you as if waiting for you to feed him again. Sighing, you broke off a piece and fed it to him.
Maybe living with a Merman isn't so bad after all.

A/N: So, well, @courtingchaos put out her leg with this sleepy story (go read) and I tripped over it and fell right into this scenario. I had a lot of vampire!Eddie thoughts lately and playing around with vampire anatomy and what one could get up to with one's very own bloodsucker is a very fun rabbit hole to fall into. :3 Probably not the last thing I wrote in this universe.
Tumblr media
Eddie was cold.
Not by Vampire standards, mind, but it wasn’t another Vampire that his freak-of-nature heart was beating for.
It was beating for a human. It was beating for you.
From his past life, Eddie remembered very well how constant cold could grind on a soul inhabiting a body that was hot-blooded and conditioned to flee from it.
But luckily he was only cold unless he did something about it. Finding new ways to do something about it had grown to become one of his favourite pastimes since you came into his life.
His peculiar skin was like smooth polished stone stretched thin and pliable over lean muscle and once he warmed up, much like a slab of granite in the sun, he could hold it for a while. Hours if he had the right insulation.
The sun wasn’t an option for him anymore, no. It was out to erode him if he bared himself long enough to its rays. But a hot bath worked wonders to get warm and cosy for you, or some time spent with a hot water bottle tucked under a blanket.
His favourite way though, was being tucked under you, skin on skin, chests pressed flush together.
It was something divine, feeling his body heat up through the energy radiating from yours. When you eventually had to climb off his lap, leaving him in bed to do some of those things Vampires had no need or urge for, he could press a cool hand to his chest and still feel you with him.
You indulged him in that more often than he should let you. Spending all this time being cold just to be with him.
As feral as he was for basking in you, he just wanted to be hot for you in every way and that right from the start.
So he made a proposal to you.
A way he could fuck you with your own heat without you having to feel cold for one second.
A thought turned into desire during those nights he spent next to your warm, sleeping body with plenty of time to imagine all those things he wanted to do to you.
He was careful in choosing his words, determined to convey that he would rather plunge a stake through his own chest than do anything to injure or violate you; body or soul.
The quickening of your pulse brought no anxiety to your eyes. He hadn’t scared you, more so, you were intrigued and he drew a deep breath of relief. An old habit.
You took time to think it over, to get familiar with the idea and develop your own fantasies while mapping out boundaries. Again and again you asked him to lead you through what had become a shared fantasy now and he gave you everything you asked for and as long as you needed.
He knew he was a dangerous creature, there was no use denying it. Making sure you knew he wasn’t a threat was imperative and your trust the most precious thing he’d ever own.
Sunrise was near.
“You coming over tonight?” you asked as you watched him get ready to leave you to the things sunlight-dwellers got up to in the bright hours of the day.
Eddie, about to button his jeans, looked up and over to you seated on the edge of the bed across the room. Something in your voice called the hair on his neck to attention. Your already raised pulse quickened under his gaze. He cocked his head, all his senses reaching out to your body. You suddenly smelled so aroused it was obscene.
“Stop dissecting me, Munson.”
He shook his head to clear it with moderate success.  “Sorry… couldn’t help it.” He laughed deeply, the sound thick and sticky. “I’m putting on my clothes and suddenly you just smell like that—”
“Monster,” you smiled. “Can’t surprise you with anything.”
“Well, that’s not true.” He put his shirt on and crossed the room. It was probably a bad idea to kneel before you now with sunrise so close while you still looked so tousled and sleepy and smelled so sinfully horny, but he did it anyway. Your hand instantly found his face. He was already cooling down and the soft slide of your thumb left a streak of warmth high on his cheek. “You surprise me all the time. It’s just… different.”
“I know.”
“I wasn’t trying to pry, promise.”
“I know.” You cocked your head. “So, are you busy tonight?”
“Hmm,” he hummed in affirmation turned his face into your palm and kissed it. “First band, then blood and coffee with Wayne.”
“Oh, right. Okay.”
“You gonna tell me why, sweetheart?”
“No,” you said with an enigmatic smile. It took all of his willpower to draw his ‘antennas’ back from you, but nothing could drown out this smell.
He was getting hungry. He was getting hard.
You bent down and slowly slid your arms around his neck, nails softly scraping the nape of his neck and your forehead found his, hot like a fever. “Not right now anyway.”
“Wow… who is the monster now, hm?”
Your laugh was infectious, had made him sick with adoration for you right from the start. He caught your mouth to get more of it right from the source. Soon he wouldn’t be strong enough to leave.
And you knew it.
“You should go,” you mumbled. Your palms were like hearths against his shoulders, pushing with little determination. “Before I pull you in here and you’re stuck until sunset.”
“Pull me in then, I don’t mind.” He ran his palms up your bare thighs, leaving a trail of goosebumps behind.
“Fuuuck, Eddie…”
“’Fuck Eddie’ sounds like a great idea to me.”
“If I fuck you now, you’re not leaving and we both know I get nothing done with you flapping around here and there are plenty of things I need to do today.”
Eddie let his curled-up lips glide over the edge of your jaw all the way to the soft hot spot below your ear where your pulse was a torrent. His teeth were aching.
“I want to do you so bad right now,” he whispered and felt the moan leaving your lungs hot against his shoulder.
“Don’t make me get the garlic.”
“Just one sip from your Holy Water, baby, I know you’re drenched right now—”
You threw your head back and slumped against his chest as you erupted into bellowing laughter.
He’d hoped to make you scream in a different way but he’d take it anyway. Wrapping his arms around you he pulled you to his lap and joined you in your laughing fit.
“Was worth a try,” he chuckled against your collarbone as you both came down.
“You nearly ended me with that one.”
He felt your hot mouth press against his crown and then you leaned back and moved to stand up.
“Oh, cruel world,” he said, more whiny than intended and pushed himself to stand. Outside, the sky was that dim clear blue that was the harbinger of a sunny September day. “Guess I better get going then.” His hands fisted the hem of your shirt and pulled you in for one more kiss.
“Gonna miss you, bat-man.”
“Hmm,” he hummed, hypnotized by the soft, bittersweet melody that was your good-bye voice. “Love you, moonshine.”
Eddie mourned your warmth leaving his body as he hurried through slowly awakening streets to outrun the dawn. And oh, how he longed for it when he touched himself in the dark of his room, how he craved it when the high induced by heavy, distorted riffs surged through him like a lightning strike and how he needed it when he stepped outside into a night that was as cold as himself.
Fuck. He was so needy.
So he called Wayne; he would be an hour late today and now Eddie had almost two hours to spare. Determined to spend as many seconds as possible joined with you, he once more hurried along through mostly vacant streets.
Eddie wore the key to your place on a chain around his neck together with his favorite guitar pick. He fiddled with it while he took a moment to calm himself before he took it off and slid it into the lock; he had no intention of giving you a jumpscare barging in like a starving beast.
Your smell instantly exploded into his face the moment the door cracked open. He expanded his ribcage to the limit, inhaling the amalgamation that was the scent of your home through flared nostrils as he stepped inside and closed the door behind him and—
Taped to the wall opposite the door was a note.
It was fully dark inside, but Eddie needed no light to read it. Hell, he would have been able to take a good guess about the content just from the scent alone. You had touched yourself before you put it up for him, knowing very well he wouldn’t be able to stay away for long after this morning and the smell of your cunt was all over the paper.
He got hard so fast it was painful.
Eddie let his head drop against the wall, the paper right under his nose. He needed to close his eyes for a moment.
My dear Count,
I invite you in.
You don’t have to wake me first.
I trust you.
I love you
He could hear your slow, even breath call for him from your bedroom.
Eddie stripped naked right on the spot and kicked the heap of clothes that pooled by his feet under the dresser in the hall. He had learned his lesson not to leave tripping hazards in the dark for you the hard way.
The door was ajar, the room behind dimly lit by the waning moon and the street lights outside your window. It was warm in here, unusually so, and Eddie smiled brightly in the dark.
“So clever. Sooo, so clever.”
He silently moved to the foot of the bed. You were turned to your side and almost fully covered but he still took his time studying you. Your features were so soft, all your muscles relaxed and your heartbeat steady and serene.
He started stroking himself slowly, hissing at the touch, while he reached for the covers with his free hand and with a gentle pull, Eddie revealed your bare skin inch by inch.
You had made it easy for him, going to bed naked and wet.
“Oh, sweetheart. What you do to me…”
One knee to the mattress, then the other and then he lowered himself, crawling up your body while the tip of his tongue grazed over the length of your calf and up up to your thigh, over your hip and further up and there you stirred a little.
“I know, it’s cold,” he said, licking his lips, relishing your taste for a moment before he pushed himself up to your ear. “I’m about to change that. Suck up your heat and give it back to you so good. Gonna make you sweat…”
There was no need to whisper. You wouldn’t wake from his words.
It was his special voice he used; the one that could put a vampire’s prey into a trance. It was never without your permission when he spoke to you that way, was reserved for sacred moments like when you let him drink from your blood. .
He gave you just a little dose, just enough to keep you in a slumber. For now.
“No need to rouse yet, my love,” he said as he receded back down your body, peppering your skin with cool kisses. “M’ making sure you’ll wake when it’s time.”
Sitting back on his calves, he smoothed one hand over the curve of your hip in ever-growing circles, your bed-warm skin so hot against his. When the circles reached the meat of your ass, he stilled to gently squeeze you, coaxing a soft, low noise from your lips, making his cock twitch angrily. He wrapped his warmed hand around it and squeezed, oh so desperate to be surrounded by your heat.
“Fuck,” he moaned. “So good…”
He slowly turned you to your back with gentle hands and endless admiration, all his senses as sharp as his teeth, not missing anything. He was greedy to get between your thighs, to spread you open wide before him and drink you in, scent and taste and everything you would give him but this was a matter of slow and gentle things, a time for worship.
There would be time for debauchery soon enough.
Still, he couldn’t bite back the growl rising in his throat when he finally sat between your thighs and why should he? You so loved it when he growled and hissed, when he let out his feral side.
His mouth watered, and his teeth ached as he smoothed his hands up over the hot insides of your thighs, thumbs digging in lightly over where large arteries pumped your blood a little faster now.
“Beautiful,” he muttered. “So fucking divine.”
He lowered himself to his stomach, breathing deep through his nose for the first time since he turned you over.
Your scent made him drool.
Spit dribbled down his chin and to the sheet and Eddie ached to taste you and make you feel good, to mix his spit with your slick but his tongue was still too cold. But his fingers weren’t.
Averting his face from your pussy, he pressed his open mouth to your thigh. Your skin there was so hot, that this wouldn’t take to long and while he licked and sucked and kissed your legs with something else in mind, his thumb found your clit and drew soft circles around it. You sighed, hips stuttering and Eddie bared his teeth, indulging in grazing his fangs over your sensitive skin for a moment as he worked himself up up up and your clit between the slide two fingers.
You were so wet for him.
He moaned and you mewled when he finally sucked one of your swollen lips into his mouth.
“You taste so fucking good,” he almost whined and exchanged his fingers with his tongue. “All of you, just all of you… I want to devour you…” he mumbled into your folds and slid two fingers inside you where your pulse beat fast against the pads of his fingers. He could feel you tense around them as he started to stroke that spot.
You had been closer to the surface for a while and he took short breaks every now and then to talk to you to make sure you didn't came too close to it just yet, but not as deep as you had been when he’d found you. This seemed to be the sweet spot, awake enough for your body to enjoy what he did to you.
He needed to fuck you so bad.
Eddie ground his hips into the mattress, the sheet damp where the tip rubbed against it. He shuffled around and shoved his hand under his own hips, nice and warm from resting under your ass for a while. He groaned into your cunt as his fingers wrapped around his cock, a loud, hoarse sound and you lolled your head to the side, fingers scraping against the sheet.
“Hmm… E-eddie…”
Just an unconscious whisper, featherlight, but enough to break him.
He peeled his mouth away from you with effort and sat up.
“You awake, sweetheart?” he asked as he slid his hands under your knees and brought them up, draping them over his thighs. “No?” he ran his hands down his body, warm from you and the bed.
“Soon… so soon…” Gripping his cock, he ran his tip through your folds, moaning and cursing. “Can’t wait to look into your eyes…” He lined up with your hole and pushed in. Slowly, slowly, ready to retreat at the slightest sign of discomfort. Your brows drew together, your chest hitched and he reached down to softly play with a hard nipple. “Does this feel good?” he asked through his teeth. “You’re making that pretty face… fuck…”
He threw his head back, fully inside you and you still felt so hot, but he was warm and it was time to fuck you awake now. Eddie lowered himself over your chest, resting his forearms on the mattress, the tips of his hair grazing your skin and he slowly rolled his hips in shallow, aimed thrusts. Slow and steady, in and out, in and you sighed and out and your mouth parted and in and you licked your lips and out and your thighs squeezed him. Eddie picked up speed.
“Hmmm…ngh… Ed?”
“There you are,” he said and pushed in deep.
“Ah—“
And again. “Come to me, sweetheart. Join the fun.”
Your hand came up, waving around aimlessly before it landed on his biceps. “F’ck…”
“Good?” He brushed hair off your forehead. You were sweating now, just a thin sheen but he’d just started. “You feel so good—“
“Eddie…” Slow and drawled. “Fuck… what…”
He laughed and picked up speed again. You tilted your hips up and he reached so deep. “Holy fuck—“
“Oh g-god…”
“Look at me.”
You shook your head, both hands gripping his arms tight and a long, high sound swelled in your throat.
“Look at me, baby.”
Weak fists pounded against his shoulders. “M’ tryin’… trying… fuck, Eddie…” You opened your eyes, just a little but enough. “You’re so warm…”
And then he lost it.
He needed to be everywhere, touch all of you, taste all of you and held your chin as he lowered his lips to yours to slide his tongue inside your mouth to let you know what he’d done to you. Your hands in his hair pulled on his roots and he knew you knew-
“Can you taste yourself?”
-and your answer a low strangled moan and his pleasure a deep, viscous laugh before he lowered his chest to yours, his face to the crook of your neck and fucked you fucked you fucked you so deep and right where you liked it loved it needed it.
“You’re so tight, you’re gonna come for me already?”
“So… sensitive…”
“I know, I know… Just let go—“
A silent scream, air rushing violently down your throat and then you were twitching under him, writhing under him. He could feel the electricity rush through you, pull on your muscles and clench down down down on his cock-
“You good, moonshine?”
“Don’t stop!”
“Want another one?”
“Yes yes yes yes…”
So he didn’t stop. His mouth pressed against your pulse he gets you there again, lets you shatter again, picks you up again.
Slowing down he pushed up to look at you, to kiss you and praise you and oh the bliss on your face—
“Bite me.”
He groaned, teeth aching instantly.
“Bite me.”
He slowed down more and more and you smiled triumphantly before you cradled his face and lifted your lips to his and he drew back.
“If you want me to bite you, you’ll have to behave.”
“Just one kiss.”
“You know the routine. I need you to calm down.”
“Just one little kiss.”
He stilled his hips and gave you one little kiss that turned deep and bruising, wet and sharp. You bit his lips, three, four times before he pulled back, moaning your name.
“You’re wicked—“
“Bite me.”
“Nope, not with that heart rate. Not turning you into a fountain.“
“But you want to?”
“What? Drink your blood? Nah, but I’d take a glass of orange juice.”
You laughed, a little snort in there and he dropped his forehead to yours. Hot and sweaty against cool and dry.
A sigh. “Fuck that’s good… I’m so hot…”
“Told you I’d make you sweat.”
Your pretty face was a question mark and he laughed.
“Oh right, you were asleep.” You tensed around his cock, eyes wide and pulse picking up again. “That turning you on?”
“So much.”
“Gonna tell you more later… need you to relax now… I want my treat.”
Noses brushing, lips only grazing, Eddie’s hand on your chest, fingers drumming in sync with your heart. He loved it this way, the moment before he breached your skin, soft and silly and needy. You made it easy to forget the violence behind it.
“I love you,” he said in that special voice. It went straight to your eyes, lids suddenly a little heavy. “You know that, right?”
“I do…” You reached up to his face, index finger pushing at his upper lip and he pulled it back for you, knowing what you wanted. The ache in his fangs, already dull and throbbing picked up when you ran your thumb over them. “You’re beautiful, Eddie.”
He caught your wrist and kissed your knuckles before he let you go to put two fingers to your cheek, turning your face to the side, your chin up.
You trembled. Pulse picking up again. He nuzzled his face to your neck.
“Just a little sting, sweetheart. You like when it stings a little, right?”
A nod. His magic doing its work, calming you down. He grazed your neck with his teeth, drooling on your skin.
“Please.”
It was so easy, the way his teeth sank into you, so fast, in and out, just one two three seconds and then his lips closed around the bite and you flooded his mouth, hot and red and sweet. He moaned. Your hands in his hair and your blood in his mouth and he sucked because he needed more and at the same time rolled his hips for the same reason. Slowly, shallow, like in the beginning when you were just waking up to him fucking you.
“You gonna come for me, Eddie?” you breathed, lifting your hips to meet him.
His rhythm faltered, became erratic, so close so close so close andthe heat in his stomach was almost too much almost unbearable and then—
“Come inside me while you drink me.”
And he did, twitching, growling, thrusting deep deep even deeper inside you. He pulled back from your throat, pressed a palm to the bite while he shook, a thin dribble of red escaping him, black in the dim light and you praised him for ruining another set of sheets.
As soon as he came down enough to keep from shaking, his attention was all yours again. He flexed that muscle right under his jaw and a clear, viscous liquid flooded his mouth. He lifted his palm and let it drip to your neck to spread it with his tongue over the bite marks to stop the bleeding. It was instant. In about an hour, there would be nothing left to see. He hummed deep in his chest and kissed each puncture wound before he raised his head to find your face.
“Smile for me.”
And he did, teeth still dripping in blood and you returned the smile You wound your hand into his hair to pull him close and kiss him, tasting yourself on his lips for the second time tonight.
A little later, with your head on his chest and his arms wrapped around you, Eddie’s fingers drew nonsense patterns into your skin with a featherlight touch. He still felt high on you, drunk on you, could still taste your blood on his tongue, could feel his cum sticky on his skin where your thigh was draped over him.
He could cry if he could cry.
“Your fingers are getting cold.”
Startled from his bliss he sighed and lifted his hand.
“Didn’t tell you to stop… feels nice.”
He pressed a kiss to your hair and resumed. Your voice was getting drowsy now.
“How do you feel, sweetheart?”
“M’ tired.” As if in confirmation, you yawned.
“I mean about tonight.”
“Oh,” you stirred, turning your face up to him. “Feelin’ good. Really good.”
“Yeah?”
“Uh-hm… I’d like to do that again,” a pause, “if you like.”
“God, yes.”
“You’re such a cliche… better go check your vampire bingo card…”
You both broke into giggles, soft and warm in the darkness, but yours faded soon as your breath slowed down.
“You’nna stay?” you drawled.
“Yeah, of course. Going nowhere tonight.”
“Good,” he felt you smile against his chest. “What abou’ Wayne?”
“Gonna call him when you’re asleep. Don’t worry.”
He was almost sure you hadn’t really heard his answer anymore, your body feeling asleep again. But then you surprised him.
“Ed?”
“Yeah?”
“You don’t have to wake me before sunrise…”

I am SO nervous to ask, but I have an urgent request for Obey Me. Can I ask for Diavolo, Barbatos, Simeon, and Beelzebub comforting a burnt-out reader? The reader's mental health has been decreasing for a while, and lately they think nigh everyone sees them as incompetent. They've had to do a LOT of things in a short span of time and they have to do even more tasks that require mINimAL eFFoRT to do in the next week while acting as the unpaid therapist for their friends.
Diavolo, Barbatos, Simeon, and Beelzebub (Separate) Comfort Burnt-Out Reader
Pairings: Diavolo x Gn!MC, Barbatos x Gn!MC, Simeon x Gn!MC, Beelzebub x Gn!MC
Warnings: mentions of low mental health, feeling burnt out
Genre: Comfort
Post-Type: Headcanons
Word Count: 730
Summary: In which they comfort you after seeing how burnt-out you are
[A/N: Hiiii, I'm sorry this is so late, I got sick and have just been very busy with work and getting ready for the holidays, but hopefully this is still useful you you :)]
Tumblr media
Diavolo:
Tumblr media
Diavolo is also a very busy man, as the next in line to be king of the Devildom and being the president of the student council, he knows what it feels like to have a lot going on
He sneaks away from Barbatos and his pile of paperwork to go look for you
When he does find you, he drags you away on a little rendezvous to help you get away from your own mountain of responsibilities even if its only for a few minutes
Usually you both go into town together and have a meal or just browse around in the different stores
On days where Barbatos is keeping a closer eye on him and he can’t sneak off, he encourages you to get any work you have to get done, in his office
Just so he can keep a close eye on you and make sure you take breaks frequently, to lessen the stress and try and keep you from feeling burnt out
Barbatos:
Tumblr media
Barbatos is one of the most responsible men out there, but he too is busy with his own duties, as well as watching over Diavolo to keep him on track
Yet despite being busy, he always makes time for you–after all you’re part of his duties, taking care of you comes naturally, yet it’s a task he’d never leave undone
If there’s anything he can do for you to help lighten your workload, he’d do it
Most of his visits include tea time and sometimes he even brings some sweet treats that he baked specifically for you
Back massages are a must as well as maybe a short walk to keep the blood flowing and allow you some fresh air
He’s always there to listen to your concerns or worries, he’s YOUR person that hears you out and offers advice since he knows you never put yourself first in any other part of your life
With Barbatos, you’ll always be first
Simeon:
Tumblr media
Simeon notices how tired you look day by day, but when he finally decides to step in, he takes you away from everything so you can clear your mind and just stop worrying about everything for a moment
You both venture to the human world for some well needed sunlight; since the Devildom is dark 24/7 perhaps you needed some Vitamin D to lift you up again
While in the human world, he takes you to all your favorite places in hopes that it will make you happy again
Words of affirmation are a huge deal for Simeon, so he’s always telling you how amazing and brilliant you are in all aspects of your life
He’s a great listener and as a celestial being, he’d probably give you the best advice in return for any of the struggles you express to him
Picnics are his favorite thing to do with you, especially in the human world; he’d prepare all the food and desserts with Luke’s help and pamper you to a relaxing day by the water
Simeon is always concerned for your well being, so he frequently checks in on you and brings you small things throughout the week to try and lighten your mood
Beelzebub:
Tumblr media
Of course as soon as Beel notices your change in demeanor he assumes it’s because you aren’t eating well, or not eating enough
So his instinct is to attempt to cook for you to get those well needed nutrients back into your body
This of course fails and he ends up eating half the plate before it even reaches you (that’s still impressive) so he decides to just take you out to eat instead and pays for everything
Aside from feeding you, Beel gets a little clingy
He’d hold you close and steals you away to his and Belphie’s room, shooing everyone away except his twin of course, but he hogs you all to himself for a few hours, only leaving for food and bathroom breaks
You’re forced to relax with him and he reassures you that he’ll take care of any other responsibilities you have for the day
Probably starts talking about random things to make you laugh or distract your mind from anything unwanted that may still be lingering
He’s just a big cuddly teddy bear who wants to make sure you’re well taken care of, both physically and mentally
Tumblr media

full house ━ chapter two. wc. 2.1k
Tumblr media
It’s early morning when you wake up, the sun just starting to rise and rays of sunlight begin to peak in through the curtains. Your eyes flutter open, taking a few seconds to let your brain fully wake up. When you glance over to your left you’re not all that surprised to find a boy in your bed. Well, that’s only partly true as you didn’t know the gender of the ferret from yesterday but you knew that the boy next to you had indeed been the animal from yesterday. It wasn’t hard to tell, what with the small white ears on top of his head or the distinct beauty mark under his eye that had been visible in his domestic form.
Perhaps you should feel shocked or even mad that he had decided to sleep in your bed while as a human but you find yourself not really caring. Instead you’re rather happy that he had finally decided to show his face after keeping you in suspense yesterday, staying only in his ferret form.
So you take the moment to admire the rather pretty boy in your bed who has long black hair that reached down to his neck and plush pink lips. He looks so peaceful sleeping that you startle just a little when his eyes flutter open, directly looking at you.
“Like what you see?” The boy mutters, sleep thick in his throat as he brings a hand to rub away the sleep in his eyes. You’re caught off guard by his words but recover fairly quickly, raising an eyebrow at him.
“No, just simply wondering why there’s a strange boy in my bed,” He flushes softly at that, moving to cover himself with the covers and you just want to coo at how cute he is.
“Sorry. I just- I dunno. Wanted you to see me to make sure you really knew what you were getting into,” His voice is barely louder than a whisper.
You’re smiling to yourself as you come to pull the covers down just enough to see his pretty face again, eyes blinking up at you.
“What’s your name?”
“…Hyunjin,”
“Well Hyunjin, do you want some breakfast?”
“…yeah, okay,”
As you set the table for the two of you, a simple breakfast of eggs and toast, you see the boy yawn, noticing that his canines are definitely sharper than a normal humans, similar to that of his domestic form.
“You could have slept more, you know?” You say as you slip into your own seat, starting to eat. Hyunjin shakes his head, happily digging into the food you have provided, still feeling rather hungry even though he had indeed eaten the leftovers you had saved for him.
“It’s ok. I can take a nap later,”
The rest of breakfast is spent in silence, mostly due to Hyunjin being too busy stuffing his face. You take a glance at him, definitely noticing that he’s much skinnier than he probably should be, your casual shirt is baggier on him than it is on you. A frown falls on your face at that thought. How long had he been on the streets for?
Once Hyunjin has finished cleaning off his place he murmurs a quick thank you and it’s so soft you almost don’t even hear it. He starts to fidget in his seat a little, anxiety practically rolling off of him in waves as if unsure what to do.
“So. What’s your story? If you don’t mind me asking,” You break the slightly awkward silence between the two of you, though maybe your question wasn’t exactly the ice breaker you should start with.
Hyunjin just shrugs, as if it’s not a very interesting story. “Mm, I was a gift to a ten year old girl. Why they bought a hybrid for a little girl I’ll never know. They pretty much forbid me from being in my human form though so I was reduced to being just a ferret. I only ever got to stretch out my legs when no one was home. That was my life for a few years. Eventually she got bored of me, constantly forgetting to feed me or changing my water. After a while her parents got tired and surrendered me. But instead of doing it properly they just left me on the side of the road somewhere. I didn’t want to go back to a shelter so, I just decided that being a stray was probably better than getting adopted by someone only to be forgotten again,”
A frown tugs at your lips. People could be so cruel.
“So what do you want to do?” You ask simply but he tilts his head, both confusion and curiosity swimming in his eyes. “I mean do you want to stay here? Or you can leave of course. I’m not gonna make you to stay or anything,”
“Wait. You’d let me stay here?”
“Yeah, I don’t see why not? As you can tell I have plenty of room so it’s not really a bother,” Hyunjin blinks at you, as if not believing your words. “Again, it’s up to you. I’m not gonna force you into something that would make you feel uncomfortable or worse, trapped again,”
He seems to be rather deep in thought so you let him take the time to process your words. If you’re honest you hadn’t really stopped to think about your own words either, just spewing out what felt right. You had always been someone who went with the flow, to ‘trust the process’. Rarely did you ever look before you leaped. Yet this felt right. If Hyunjin chose to stay, it would be a decision you would never regret.
“So…you would adopt me if I stay?”
“Again, If you want. You could also be independent if you wanted, I’d still be happy to give you a room,”
“I just turned twenty though, I’m not eligible to apply for independence,” You shrug at this, moving to rest your chin in the palm of your hand.
“It’s up to you still, if it makes you uncomfortable I don’t have to adopt you,”
“But! You could get in trouble for having an unowned hybrid,” At this you grin, teeth almost glinting.
“That only makes it more fun, yeah?” Your tone is light so he can clearly see that you are just joking “Seriously, it’s up to you. Whatever will make you happy,” Hyunjin falls into another silence, eyebrows furrowed in thought. “Do you want to sleep on it? You don’t have to make a decision now,”
“No!” He startles you with how loud his voice is suddenly, causing him to flush at his own volume. “I mean- no, it’s ok. If…you’re ok with it, I’d be um. Happy if you adopted me. I wouldn’t want you to get in trouble because of me,”
“Then it’s settled. We can go to the shelter tomorrow to fill out paperwork, sound good?”
Hyunjin nods at this before getting up out of his seat, coming closer to you. You blink up at him, curious about what he was doing. Gently he takes your hand before bringing it up to his lips, pressing a soft kiss against your bandaged finger.
Your cheeks flush a bright red without your permission and you certainly don’t miss the way Hyunjin’s lips curl up just slightly into a smirk at your reaction.
“I’m sorry for biting you. Thank you. For letting me stay. Really,”
Tumblr media
The adoption process is easy, thankfully. Since Hyunjin’s previous owners had abandoned him, it was as simple as signing a few papers. In the eyes of the law you were now Hyunjin’s rightful owner but, you had made it perfectly clear to the boy that you did not see yourself as that. He was an equal in your house and you would never treat him as anything less. That he was simply like a roommate to you.
Because of this the boy had insisted on getting a job, wanting to pay you rent or something in exchange for letting you stay with him. The two of you had argued back and forth on the subject, with you not wanting Hyunjin to feel like he owed you and Hyunjin not wanting to feel like a burden. In the end you agreed, only because of those stupid pretty sparkly eyes that stared at you as he begged. That and you felt like it was a good step towards him feeling like his own person, after all, you didn’t want the poor boy to be stuck home while you were off at work.
Yet a week passed by with no luck from Hyunjin’s end. You had come back home from work one day to find the boy at the dinner table, sitting in a chair as his upper body was sprawled across the surface. You had quickly learned that the ferret was rather dramatic, but he certainly added some much needed flair in your life.
You walked over to the boy, petting his head softly to which he nuzzled a little further into your hand. “No luck?”
Hyunjin groans. “No. Either they don’t hire hybrids or the salary just isn’t worth it,” He whines, cheek pressed to the table and a pout on his lips.
“I’m sure something will come along,” You hum out, moving around the kitchen to start on dinner. Hyunjin waddles up from behind you so he can circle his arms around your middle, resting his head on your shoulder. You had learned very quickly that he was very affectionate, something most hybrids had in common. It was the most common reason people adopted one, to have a companion, someone to make your life a little less lonely.
But it was also the main reason people abandoned their hybrids. Too clingy, too needy. If you were honest you were a bit touched starved yourself. Your last relationship had been a few years ago and even then your partners had made you feel bad about it, calling you similar words. So you certainly didn’t mind Hyunjin’s touchy nature.
“What if nothing comes?” Hyunjin’s voice is soft and there’s a twinge of disappointment in his tone A soft sigh falls from your lips before you move to turn in his embrace, letting your own arms wrap around his shoulders. You could tell how bad he wanted this, how much he wanted to feel independent, for his DNA to not be what defines him. He buries his face further into the crook of your neck.
It’s then that the idea pops in your head.
“Oh! Hyun!!!” He startles out of your arms for a second, ever the dramatic ferret with comedically large eyes. Though you suppose your voice was a little louder than usual. “Oops sorry, got a little excited,” You laugh while the boy continues to just blink at you. “Why don’t you just come work for me?”
“Huh?”
“Remember I told you I owned a book cafe? You should just come work there! I don’t know why I didn’t think about it sooner!!” At this, Hyunjin’s eyes sparkle for just a second before he’s frowning.
“But - doesn’t that defeat the purpose? You’d be paying me instead of me paying you for rent,” You frown, nose scrunching up as you try to think of a solution.
“Ok, what about this then. You come work for me and I pay you an actual wage,” Hyunjin opens his mouth to protest but you cut him off with a finger to his plush lips. “BUT. I’ll deduct rent” You say the words with finger quotations and he glares at you. “From your paycheck but still leave you enough that you can spend or save how ever you’d like,” Hyunjin still seems a little hesitant so you pull out your best pout and puppy dog eyes. The boy is practically putty in your hands. “I couuuuuld really use the help now that my seasonal employees have left after the winter season,”
He lets out a huff, seemingly annoyed but the small grin that’s blooming on his face easily gives him away.
“Ok, ok fine! But only because you seem like you reaaaaaaally need me,” his lips quirk into a smirk and you have to hold back from rolling his eyes. Of course he takes the opportunity to one up you.
“I do, I need you sooooooo bad hyunnie,” You’re not one to back down though, continuing your little game, batting your eyelashes for added effect. It seems that you win this round as his face turns a bright red, turning away to hide his flushed cheeks. Hyunjin lets out an embarrassed squeak before skittering off, yelling out to you to let him know when dinner is ready.
You laugh softly to yourself, going back to preparing a dinner for the two of you. could i request neuvillette with gn reader who is afraid of drowning and can't swim, so he provides swimming lessons?
Tumblr media
sunshine poured naturally dazzling today, not a single cloud in the sky. perhaps that was your sign that darling neuvillette was having a good day today.
well, on the contrary, you were not. you almost wished he was not having so-jolly of a day just to dim the sun with rain clouds, for the sunlight intensity was only worsening your headache. a headache which was caused by the lack of oxygen in your lungs—from swimming all day.
“when you go into a bug-position underwater, hold your breath for ten seconds, and blow out bubbles,” he instructed firmly, holding your waist as you both stood hip-deep into the water. “this will teach you how to float.
you gave him the slightest of pouts. “you’ll bring me back up if i drown, right?”
“i would never let you drown.” you couldn’t tell from his facial expressions if he meant it in an endearing way or a purely offended one. “just hold your legs to your chest, and blow out bubbles—trust the water, okay?”
you took a deep breath. he looked radiant in the sunlight, you realized. sure, maybe it was the banging headache that was making your vision hazy; but somehow, the chief justice looked a little livelier in the water like this. him, with his full-body diving suit as an attire you’d never expect to see him in before.
perhaps this was a fun little treat to your eyes, but all at the price of the sinking feeling of drowning in fontaine’s waters. but how could he refuse you, when you admitted you had no idea how to swim?
“aaand go.”
okay, you may need to teach him a few more pointers on how to read human expressions, because you were pretty sure that your face made no indication that you were ready to be let go and pushed down. he was very knowledgeable on how to swim, sure, but he was definitely not educated on how to be a teacher.
and so, you immediately panicked, flopping around to bring your knees to your chest as your head filled with the sudden fear of drowning once more. and once you got into the fetal position he told you to, you lost control of your body and found yourself wading up to the surface.
you broke out in short-breathed coughs as neuvillette attempted to stabilize your body atop the water, offering his own chest for you to lean on as you caught your breath. oh, this was so embarrassing. you thanked the heavens he was so nice.
“i couldn’t do it,” you coughed out water. “you saw me try it exactly as you told me to.”
he frowns just the slightest bit. “but it works when i do it…”
you deadpan just a little bit. of course it doesn’t make him panic when he was already used to the water. but you suppose he can’t quite discern your very-humanly emotion of fear for an ocean. “i think that’s enough for me today,” you sighed onto his chest, cold from the fabric of the diving suit. his arms still had a protective hold around you, tho you were barely in the water at all. “i already gained a massive headache.”
he hummed shortly in response. you couldn’t tell if it was a yes or a no, but you think you’ve come to learn it was just his way of saying he was thinking.
and only a minute later, he was guiding you by the shoulders to the shore, holding them so protectively as if these shallow waves could drown you in seconds.
( but, who could blame him, when you were panicking over water only a meter high just a moment ago? )
“i’ve already brought lots of water for you to drink to ease that headache of yours,” he said once he helped dry you off with a towel. his hands were gentle as he circled the cloth against your hair. “and probably take you out to get some pastries, too.”
ah, you loved such a gentleman. you only hoped he could be a better swimming instructor, too.

“FINDING LOVE, BEYOND THE SEA”
— Ethan Landry ★
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
PAIRING: Ethan Landry x fem!mermaid!reader
SUMMARY: Ethan explored the beach and he finds you and its all fluffy or whatever woooohoooo
A/N: saw the little mermaid yesterday and since I only ever think of Jack/Ethan this idea came to mind lol enjoy :)

“Don’t go too far, dude. Sam will kill me if I loose one of you idiots,” Chad said to Ethan as he put on his sunglasses. Ethan only rolled his eyes in reply and went off. He liked the beach, it was calm, it was pretty, but he preferred walking through the sand than swimming in the ocean. He put his AirPods in and looked around.
People were running around, some tanning some burning from the scorching sun, some surfing or swimming. He ended up walking far enough to the point where less and less people were. Ethan checked his phone and it had only been 15 minutes so he kept walking.
He kept walking until he found a secluded place near some rocks. It was a lagoon surrounded by palm trees and plants. If he didn’t go closer to it he would’ve never known it was there. He thought it was interesting but Ethan was hardly the type to explore further so he turned around.
As he was about to walk back to the beach he heard something. It sounded like a splash so he turned back around, but there was nothing there. He squinted his eyes to try and see into the almost clear water but there was nothing he could see. He went to walk away again but heard another splash so he quickly turned around and saw something or someone.
He saw you, you who had popped your head out of the water and had your arms propped up on a rock, you who had gorgeous eyes, who had a seashell top, who had scales and a tail. Ethan stumbled backwards at the sight. Maybe he had been in the sun too long. Maybe it was just a fake tail and you were trying to prank people. He stood there looking at you while you looked at him too.
You had never seen a human this close before. You had barely seen one at all before. Your people thought they were dangerous, but something about this one excited you. “I wont bite, I promise,” you told him sweetly. You examined his pretty features, he had brown eyes and curly hair, he was gorgeous.
“Um, what- uh what are you?” He stammered and took another small step backwards. The poor boy seemed terrified. “Would you believe me if I said a mermaid? I know it seems silly.” You slowly got out of the water and sat on a rock not facing him. “There’s no reason to be scared though, I won’t hurt you.”
You figured mermaids didn’t get a great reputation, but if anything mermaids were more scared of humans.
He watched as your hands squeezed the water out of your hair and he watched your tail. It was still in the water moving back and forth slowly. “How are you real?” He asked moving forward a bit. It didn’t make any sense to him. Ethan always liked facts more than make believe. It made him feel safer knowing than not.
You shrugged at his question, “Not sure. The same as you I suppose,” you giggled looking at him, “Nobody ever comes over here. Not humans not mermaids, it’s usually just me. It’s a cool spot isn’t it?”
He nodded and you frowned, “I’m sorry for scaring you,” you said quietly, “Would you like me to leave?”
One part of Ethan wanted to run away like the coward he was but some other part of him shook his head at you, “No, you can stay. This is your place anyways, would you like me to go?” His voice was small and he found himself stuttering a bit. “No, you can stay,” you said smiling. Your presence was calming and your smile was so contagious that Ethan smiled back.
“Would you like to sit?”
“Um yeah sure.”
Ethan walked towards you slowly and sat down on the rock next to you. You were even more beautiful now that he could see you better. You were practically glowing in the sunlight. “So, what’s your name human?” You asked curiously, tilting your head. “Ethan, what’s yours?” “Y/n.” “That’s pretty,” he said quietly. “Thank you,” you smiled.
“What’s that in your ears?” You asked poking him, to which he slightly flinched at. He didn’t even realize his AirPods were still in his ears. “Headphones, they allow you to listen to music.”
Your face contorted to one of confusion and he laughed, “Here, take one.” He gently gave you one and helped you put it in your ear correctly. You slightly shivered at the contact plus his voice in your ear, “There, like that.” He pulled away from you and looked at his phone to see the song playing. He decided it was appropriate enough for you and looked at you, waiting for a reaction.
Your mouth was slightly open and your eyes were wide, “This is weird but it’s amazing!”
He laughed and nodded. You both sat there in comfortable silence listening to music together before you pointed to the top of his head. “What are those?” He felt the top of his head and found that his sunglasses were still there. He grabbed them, “These?” You nodded and he took them off. “Sunglasses. These help keep the sun out of your eyes.”
“Can I put them on?”
“Sure,” he shrugged before handing them to you.
You put them on backwards causing him to laugh, “Like this,” he gently grabbed them off your face and flipped them before handing them back to you. You put them back on correctly this time. “Perfect,” he said smiling. You smiled back and looked around. “I like them. Do I look cool?”
He chuckled at you, there was something just so innocent about you. “Yeah, you do.”
He wanted to know more about you and he wanted to show you more. He guessed you didn’t know a lot of human stuff.
Ethan’s phone vibrated and he checked it to see a text from Chad.
Chad
Dude where are you were about to leave
Ethan muttered a curse and got up, “Hey, I have to go, my friends are waiting for me.” You frowned and handed him back his AirPods quickly but he stopped you when you tried taking off the sunglasses. “You can keep them, they suit you.”
You smiled and jumped into the water. You put your hands on the rock and looked up at him, “Will I see you again?” He smiled and nodded, “I’ll be back soon, I promise.”
“Maybe next time you can swim with me!”
“Yeah, maybe.”
You flapped your tail and went back underwater. He watched as you swam away gracefully and he walked away.
He made a mental note for when he got home that he’d do as much research on mermaids as humanly possible. He definitely couldn’t tell anyone about this.
What a weird day.

If you're doing requests, can I get Solomon headcanons, theme "sightseeing in Devildom/Human World", genre is fluff or author's choice if easier.
Hello there, my friend!
Ahhh yes this is definitely fluff. And honestly I think that's the best genre for this prompt! Because imagine what a silly guy Solomon would be, taking you all over the place just to see you smile.
Thank you for participating!
COZY COMFORTS EVENT
Tumblr media
GN!MC x Solomon sightseeing in the Devildom/human world
Warnings: none
Tumblr media
When you tell Solomon that you want to do some sightseeing, you quickly find out that there are a lot of places an immortal sorcerer can take you. Across worlds, he knows all the best places to see and things to do. If you need him to tell you where he's taking you, he will. But left to his own devices, he'll keep every destination a secret. He loves to see the look of surprise on your face when he teleports you somewhere new.
In the human world, he takes you to famous places. He insists on selfies at the Eiffel Tower and the Great Wall of China. But he also takes you to quiet, out of the way places. He shows you a field where he found a rare flower needed for magical potions. He brings you to the hill with a view of what was once his hometown. Solomon shares these pieces of his long life with you, from a time before he knew who you were.
Solomon takes you to some of his favorite restaurants in the human world, too. You're blown away by the delicious food. You're also unsurprised when one spot kicks you both out the minute the chef catches sight of Solomon. Apparently, he once tried to show them how they could improve one of their dishes and ended up making the oven explode. You let out a long suffering sigh while Solomon just takes your hand and runs, laughing the whole time.
He shows you places in the bright sunlight, but he also takes you to locations better experienced at night. Have you ever seen the aurora, MC? He knows the perfect arctic spot to huddle together and watch the bright colors on display in the sky. You may be freezing, but he keeps you warm with his own body and a little bit of magic. He can't resist adding a little magical flare of his own to the aurora's display.
Although he's spent a lot of his life in the human world, Solomon has spent considerable time in the Devildom as well. He will tell you stories about his journey through the rings of the Underworld, though he will insist that you needn't walk through them yourself. He can teleport you to any place of interest. He's more likely to take you to hidden marketplaces and tiny magic shops. You find a plethora of cursed objects and spell books. You try to talk him out of buying you an item that makes your eyes sparkle when you look at it, but it's useless. Nothing you could say will dissuade him.
Solomon shows you places in the Devildom that you never knew existed, but he also takes you to places you may have heard about already. He sneaks you into the Demon Lord's Castle in an attempt to get past Barbatos long enough to show you the rumored torture dungeon. Once again you find yourself laughing as Solomon is promptly kicked out. You're pretty sure Barbatos pretended not to notice you for a short time because you got farther in that you expected.
Although he is no fan of the ocean, Solomon also takes you to a hidden beach within the Devildom. The water is black beneath the moon and starlight. Solomon holds your hand, keeping you close as you stand upon the shore, his eyes out far across the sea. And then, slowly, small lights appear. They begin to pop up more rapidly until the edge of the water is full of bright blue and purple lights. They glimmer gently as they ripple along the waves. Solomon tells you about a Devildom sea creature that only shows up at certain times. You're so entranced, you're barely listening. But Solomon turns you to look at him in the soft light. The way it plays in his silver hair makes your breath catch.
Solomon will take you anywhere you want to go. Just say the word and he'll make it happen, whether in the Devildom or the human world. He loves to see you full of awe and wonder, the way you look at him with delight brightening your features. As long as he can stay beside you, Solomon will go wherever you might lead him.

You awoke feeling groggy, eyes blinking against the stream of sunlight that filtered through the window. You didn’t remember drinking enough last night to feel this hungover. No, you were sure you’d only had the two whiskey cokes, not nearly enough to make you feel this way. Perhaps it was the drive catching up with you. Yeah, that had to be it.
You slowly sat up, head throbbing as you caught a glimpse of the ocean outside your window. You thought back to the silver tail you had seen disappear beneath the waves.
“What a weird dream,” you muttered, shaking your head. You moved to get up, quickly getting dressed in a simple t-shirt and shorts combo before heading downstairs to the kitchen.
Bob was already munching away at the plate of bacon Susan had set out, the older woman flipping over a pancake on the stove.
“Robert Floyd, you better save some bacon for everyone else,” she warned without even a glance over her shoulder at him. Bob paused mid-chew to stare wide-eyed at her back before seeing you at the doorway, a grin already on your lips.
“Yeah, Robert,” you giggled, “save some for the rest of us.”
He scowled at you as Susan turned to smile warmly at you.
“Good morning, dear!” She beamed. “How did you sleep?”
You sat down at the island next to Bob just as Susan placed a plate at the same spot.
“I had the craziest dream last night,” you hummed, stealing a piece of bacon off of Bob’s plate, earning yourself an unamused look from said man.
“Oh yeah?” Susan asked. “What about?”
“Well,” you started, chewing on your bite of bacon, “I dreamed that I woke up last night and heard a weird song.”
“What?” Bob laughed, looking over at you. You giggled, continuing.
“Yeah! And it was weird because it sounded like a weird mix between a human and a whale. And when I got up, I went to look out the window, and I saw a giant silver tail disappear into the water!”
Bob’s chewing slowed to a stop as the smile dropped from his face, and Susan stiffened by the stove. Your eyes darted between the two of them.
“Did I say something wrong?” You asked them, unsure as to what had them so tense. Bob shook his head with a reassuring smile.
“No, of course not,” he told you. Susan relaxed her shoulders and turned to you with an apologetic look.
“It seems I’ll have to have a talk with my husband about him and his stories,” she said, a look of annoyance passing over her face.
You shook your head. “Oh, it’s no worries! I’m sure I just drank too much last night. That coupled with the drive here, I’m sure it was nothing.”
Susan looked at you for a beat longer before turning back to her pancakes. Bob huffed a laugh as he took another bite of his breakfast. “Dad is so getting his ass chewed out later.”
“Hey!” Susan barked, whipping back around to point her spatula at him. “Language, mister.”
“Sorry, Mom,” he blushed, ducking his head sheepishly. You laughed at the two of them before bumping your shoulder into his.
“So what’s the plan for today?” You asked. Bob perked up at your question.
“Oh!” He chirped. “I figured we could go hang out with Mickey and Nat today. The others are going to be busy setting up for the festival, so it’ll just be the four of us.”
“Sounds great!” You smiled. “Any specific plans?”
“You should take her to see the different shops!” Susan suggested over her shoulder.
Bob rolled his eyes with a grimace. “The tourist traps?”
“Not all of them are tourist traps, Bobby,” she chided. “Besides, maybe she’ll find something she likes while you’re there. A souvenir for the summer!”
Tumblr media
You stared at the porcelain figurine intently. It reminded you of the one sitting on your dresser back home, except this mermaid was mid-song, her red lips parted like she was crooning.
“I told you it was a tourist trap,” Bob muttered beside you. You looked up at him with a grin.
“Nah, it’s cute,” you giggled. “I love mermaids, remember?”
“I know a couple someones who will love to hear that,” Mickey muttered with a smirk, crying out when Nat elbowed him in the rib.
“What do you mean?” You ask, brow furrowing at him. Nat smiled at you, pushing past the scowling man at her side.
“Nothing,” she said. “Have you found anything you like yet?”
You hummed, glancing around the store. “No, not yet. I don’t know if I want a souvenir from a shop, anyway. I think I’d prefer collecting seashells from the beach.”
“Perhaps you’ll get lucky and catch the eye of a handsome merman,” the older shopkeeper said. Your group turned to look at her, her eyes twinkling.
“Oh, yeah?” You giggled. You faltered when you saw the others frowning at the old woman, but she continued on.
“Oh my, yes,” she smiled. “The legend goes that every year the sea people undergo what can only be described as a mating season. They seek out a partner for the summer, satiating their hunger. That’s what the festival celebrates, after all. But every five years, an individual will undergo a much more intense version, seeking out a permanent mate. It’s called the frenzy.”
“Why do they call it that?” You ask her, curiosity getting the better of you.
The old woman chuckled. “Simply put? The sea people will go crazy trying to find and stake claim to their chosen mate. The desire nearly drives them mad, turning them into the monsters the legends claim them to be.”
“What do you mean by mate?”
“Just that, dear child. During the frenzy is when a sea person picks their life partner. It’s an irreversible bond.”
“Okay, that’s enough,” Nat frowned, grabbing your elbow. She shot a glare at the old woman before tugging you towards the door. “We need to get going.”
“But I still have questions!” You cried, stumbling out the door after her. The bell above the door rang as the four of you exited onto the sidewalk. All around, people were setting up for the summer long festival. Banners were being hung up over the streets and decorations lined the sidewalks, mermaids covering nearly every surface you looked at.
Nat dropped her grip from your arm, and you scowled at her.
“What was that for?” You grumbled, rubbing at your arm. “It was just getting interesting!”
“Mrs. Cambroni needs to learn when to shut her mouth,” she huffed, glaring back at the door. Bob slung an arm around your shoulder with a small smile.
“They’re just stories, anyway,” he told you, hugging you close. “Besides, you’ll have all summer to learn about the town legends. We’re here to have fun, remember?”
“I thought you said it was impossible to have fun in a small town?” You teased him, anger quickly melting as you all began making your way down the sidewalk. He rolled his eyes playfully at you.
“I did not say that.”
“You definitely implied it.”
“Alright,” he grinned. “You got me there.”
“Do you guys wanna go get ice cream?” Mickey asked, looking over his shoulder from where he walked next to Nat.
You perked up. “Ice cream sounds amazing!”
After securing your double scoop of rocky road, you followed the others back down the street as they argued over what to do next.
“But they have some really good movies out!” Mickey exclaimed, and Nat rolled her eyes at him.
“There are way better things we could do than go see a damn movie,” she snarked.
“Oh yeah? Like what?”
“We could take one of the boats out?” Bob suggested.
Nat smiled as Mickey scowled.
“And do what?” The other man huffed.
“Obviously, we would be swimming,” Nat shot back at him. You giggled as the three continued to argue amongst themselves.
“Hey! If it isn’t the three stooges plus y/n!”
All four of you looked up to see Bradley leaning off a ladder holding a banner in his hands. He was grinning widely, shirt nowhere to be seen. Below him, holding the ladder, was the blond man, Jake, from the bar the night before. He was also shirtless, and his green eyes were already on you, and you felt your cheeks heat up. You prayed none of your ice cream had made a home on your face. Javy and Reuben came walking out of the nearest building carrying another banner and also missing their shirts.
“Hey meatheads,” Nat huffed with a roll of her eyes. “Where are your shirts?”
“In case you hadn’t noticed,” Bradley drawled, rolling his eyes back at her, “It’s like a billion degrees out here. A man’s gotta keep cool, ain’t that right, sunshine?”
You giggled as he shot a wink at you, and you noticed as Jake clenched his jaw at the exchange. Bradley hopped off the ladder and strolled over towards the rest of you with the blond right behind him, eyes still trained on you.
“What do you guys have planned for the rest of the day?” Reuben asked. Nat swung an arm around your shoulder.
“We’re gonna teach Skipper here how to drive a boat,” she grinned.
“Skipper?” You questioned, raising your eyebrow. She nodded excitedly, and Bradley hummed, looking at you thoughtfully.
“I like it,” he decided with a nod. “It suits you.”
“Whatever that means,” you mumbled. Mickey put his hands on his hips as he glared at the brunette beside you.
“I thought we were going swimming?” He demanded.
Nat dropped her arm from around your shoulder, crossing her arms in front of her. “We are, but we’re going to teach Skipper how to captain a boat first. Besides, I thought you didn’t want to go?”
You watched as the two began to bicker amongst themselves again. If you hadn’t known any better, you would think the two hated each other. Bob walked off to help Reuben, Bradley, and Javy hang up the other banner a little ways down the street. You felt someone step up beside you, and you turned to see Jake still looking down at you.
“Hi,” he said softly, smirking. “I don’t think we were ever properly introduced. I’m Jake.”
You smiled up at him shyly. “I’m y/n, but I guess it’s Skipper now.”
He let out a chuckle as he leaned in closer to you. You felt your heartbeat quicken, and the way his smirk grew wider made you think that maybe he could hear it. You shook off the thought, putting all of your effort into maintaining some semblance of rationale.
“You know,” he hummed, eyes studying you, “Bradley isn’t right about a lot of things, but he is right about that.”
“What?” You breathed, eyes becoming hooded. You could have sworn you saw the glow in his eyes again as they bore into yours. Your head began to feel lighter the longer you stared at him, a yearning tugging you towards him. His breath fanned over you as he leaned in closer.
“Skipper!”
You jumped, taking a stumbling step back, nearly falling as someone caught you. You thought you heard a growl as your head began to throb. You looked up to see that it was Bob who had his arms around you, keeping you steady. His eyes were trained in a glare past where you stood, and you turned to see Bradley and Javy on either side of Jake. If looks could kill, Bob would be six feet under already. Jake’s jaw was clenched so tight, you wouldn’t be surprised if his teeth were cracked. Green eyes stared intently at Bob, whose gaze didn’t waver from his friends.
“Bob?” You questioned, the bespectacled man looking down at you. “What happened?”
“Uh,” he started, seeming to be unsure as to how to respond.
“Bob bumped into you on accident, and you almost fell,” Natasha smiled, stepping forward to take you out of Bob’s arms. You saw Jake relax a little out of the corner of your eye, but your head was still too fuzzy to pay it much mind.
“Why is everyone so angry?” You asked her, your voice sounding weak and uncertain even to you. She smiled gently down at you as she sat you down on the steps by the sidewalk.
“It’s just a combination of the heat and good old-fashioned testosterone,” she explained, patting your back soothingly. “Nothing for you to worry about.”
“My head,” you trailed off, rubbing at your temples.
“Here,” Reuben smiled at you, offering you a bottle of water. You took it with a grateful smile, taking small sips from the bottle.
“Feeling better?” Mickey asked you, brows pinched in worry. You smiled and gave him a nod.
“Much,” you said, looking around at the group who looked back at you worriedly.
You sighed. “I’m sorry, everyone.”
“What on earth for?” Asked Javy.
Grimacing, you responded, “For making everyone worry about me.”
“There’s no need to apologize, Skipper,” Bradley assured you, smiling at you reassuringly. “The heat gets to the best of us. Isn’t that right, Jake?”
Bradley clapped the blond on the shoulder, giving him a pointed look. Jake frowned, letting out a muttered “yeah” as he looked away.
“Do you wanna call it a day?” Mickey asked you, and you shook your head.
“I’d still like to go swimming if that’s okay.”
“You sure?” Bob asked you, eyes still full of worry. You smiled back at him with a nod.
“Absolutely!”
“You should be careful,” Jake spoke up, and you turned to look at him. The anger was still in his eyes, but it had calmed significantly. An unreadable expression now graced his face. “A storm is coming.”
“How do you know?” You asked him, brow furrowing.
“He’s right,” Javy said as Reuben and Bradley nodded. “A storm is on the way.”
“We’ll be extra careful,” Nat promised them, helping you to your feet. “Scout’s honor!”
Bradley chuckled at her mock salute before shooting you another wink. “Maybe we’ll catch up with you guys later?”
“If not tonight, then we’ll see you at the bonfire tomorrow!” Mickey hollered as you, Nat, and Bob followed him down the sidewalk towards the docks.
“Don’t have too much fun without us!” Reuben called after you all.
“We’ll hold off on teaching Skipper how to drive the boat until you guys can join us!” Nat yelled back.
“Wait, you were serious about that?” You squawked, earning a chorus of laughter from your group.
Tumblr media
A couple of hours later, you found yourself sitting on Mickey’s parent’s boat, the rock of the waves sending a wave of nerves up your spine as they became rougher. You didn’t think you’d ever get used to being on a boat. The sun had long been obscured by the grey clouds that seemed to have rolled in out of nowhere, but the others didn’t seem shocked by the sudden turn.
“How did they know it was going to storm?” You asked them, watching as darker clouds began to roll in.
“When you live by the ocean your whole life, you just get a sense for those types of things,” Nat told you as Mickey and Bob scrambled to get the boat ready to leave. You eyed the clouds wearily as Mickey cursed behind you.
“They’re never going to let us hear the end of it if they find out we stayed out this long,” he muttered.
Nat rolled her eyes. “So hurry up and get us back to shore before they do.”
Mickey scowled at her but continued with what he was doing. A couple of minutes later, and the waves were rocking the boat almost violently, and you found yourself gripping your seat anxiously.
“Alright, we’re ready!” Bob called from the side. Mickey started up the boat’s engine, and the vessel jerked as he began to maneuver it back to land. You hit a particularly rough wave, causing Nat to lose her balance and topple into the seats opposite yours.
“Easy, Mickey!” She snapped, glaring at the man.
“I’m taking her as easy as I can!” He hollered back at her, a look of worry flashing across his face as the boat dipped into the waves. A gush of water hit you, and your arms flew up to shield your face. At that same moment, another wave knocked into the boat, causing you to fly over the side as you jerked back from the wall of water to your front.
“Y/n!” You heard someone shout, Bob maybe, but it was too late.
The water swallowed you whole, gripping you in its clutches as you scrambled to get your bearings. The water was dark, and you began to panic as you realized you couldn’t tell which was up and which way was down. Your arms thrashed around you as you fought for air, but it was no use. Your lungs ached and burned from lack of oxygen, and you felt a sense of dread as you realized that you were about to die. You stopped fighting, feeling a sense of acceptance at your fate. Your vision began to darken as you let your mind drift off. You hoped your parents wouldn’t mourn you for too long and hoped desperately that your friends wouldn’t blame themselves.
You were just about to enter unconsciousness when you heard an eerily familiar song. The sound of a human and a whale mixed together pulled at you, getting closer with each passing second. It was strange what the mind came up with to calm itself in its last moments. You felt a pair of strong, muscular arms wrap around you, lifting you up, your bare legs brushing against what felt like scales. Of course your mind would turn to mermaids in the end. Maybe you’d be reborn as one in your next life. You hoped as much, at the very least.
Your head broke the surface, rain pelting your face as small waves of water rushed up to you.
“C’mon, darlin’,” a voice called to you from far off, “stay with me.”
You felt the water rush up out of your lungs as you hacked and coughed, clutching weakly at whoever held you. You groaned, head falling forward, resting on a solid chest. The arms around you gripped you tighter, and you heard the song again, this time sounding much more desperate and sorrowful than last time. It was the last thing you heard before you fell unconscious.
Tumblr media
You weren’t sure how long you were out for, but you felt the last few rays of the sun wash over you as you came to. You were vaguely aware of the solid rock underneath you and the gentle fingertips that grazed your forehead. You heard short bursts of the song, this time coming from the person hovering over you. It put you at ease, but you so desperately wanted to see who the song belonged to.
You slowly tried to pry your eyes open, head protesting as it gave a particularly sharp throb. You winced, and the man above you cooed at you. You managed to open your eyes just long enough to catch a glimpse of the glowing green that stared down at you, entrancing you.
“Sleep,” the man sang, and you obediently let your eyes fall closed. The man’s fingertips ran down the side of your face and to your neck. He turned your head to expose more of your neck, lips brushing over the base where it met your shoulder. You let out a whimper at the pleasant feeling, and the man hushed you softly. You were surprised at how good it felt, and you found yourself arching up into his touch.
The man continued to nuzzle at you, and you heard the vague sound of your name coming from off in the distance. You whined for the man, silently begging for more of his touch, and you felt him smirk against you.
“Skipper!”
The voices were louder now, and you heard the man let out an inhuman snarl. You cried out in pain as you felt a prick of what you assumed were teeth pierce your skin. The pain was quickly dulled by the feel of a tongue laving over the small wound. The man pulled away from you, and you reached for him weakly, opening your eyes just enough to see the flash of silver scales disappear back into the sea.

PLEASE QUEEN, I need answers, in your post talking about some wip's that you were thinking about, I saw "shark", I hope I'm not hallucinating, but please, can you tell me a little about it??🏃🏃🏃
Omg yes! I'm so happy you asked about this one! The shark au is something me and @lilliumteaandbeez came up with. We have a ton of lore we came up with together, though I don't have much written for it. I believe I wrote this in February, and it isn't much but I'll share what I have!
More about Sharktaro though, he is also a siren! So, for the people that have been asking me for a siren au, this is the start of it.*・♡

𝑺𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒏!𝑮𝒚𝒖𝒕𝒂𝒓𝒐 𝒙 𝑹𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓
Your motion sensored camera got activated last night.
That’s why you find yourself trudging through a light rain shower, stepping through heaps of wet sand and over slippery rocks.
The camera had been set up in an alcove seated on the beach. A small cave sits on the edge of the ocean, with a deep pool of water seated in the middle of it. But deeper into the cave, the water becomes more shallow, and there is a rocky ledge circling the edge of the water, perfect for you to set up your camera to observe the unusual alcove.
It was for research of course. As a marine biologist you are always searching for unique phenomena. With this particular experiment, you were hoping to catch seals using this alcove as a shelter when hiding from circling sharks. But instead you were notified in the middle of the night by a strange photo being captured.
You couldn’t quite make out what it was. It was blurry and dark. The creature looked long like a seal but it almost appeared as though it had sharp claws. Having no idea what it could be, you are filled with anxiety and curiosity as you arrive at the cave.
Sounds of distant thunder echo in the distance.
You turn the corner and step into the darkness. The approaching storm blocking any sunlight that may have illuminated your path.
Flickering on your flashlight, you point it towards the shallow end of the cave.
Before you lies a humanoid figure. Laying on its side, back facing towards you.
The bottom half of its body resembles a shark. A long blue-green tail littered with dark spots. The spots cover his entire body, even the upper half which resembles a human man. The creature has a large fin on its back and pointed ears. Its body looks emaciated, ribs moving with each shallow breath that he takes. And a mess of black and green hair sits atop his head.
The water surrounding his body is bloody, and his tail seems to have gotten tangled in a net.
“Oh my god…” you gasp under your breath. The small sound is enough to startle the creature, quickly turning around, staring right at you.
His eyes glow yellow, slit pupils dilate from the bright light. He opens his mouth to show rows of dagger sharp teeth.
A high pitched, rattling screech echos from his mouth. Hissing at you with every ounce of energy he has left, you know this is a warning. But you can’t stop yourself from walking closer to him, you want to help him. It’s in your nature to help and rehabilitate injured marine life, and a mythical merman is no exception.
As you get closer he starts to panic. Flailing his tail, showing his teeth, hissing loudly. He tries to get away but he is too tangled up. It doesn’t take long before more blood spills out of him, and he can’t muster enough energy to continue.
His eyes get heavy and his breathing becomes more shallow but his hissing persists as you stand a few feet in front of him.
“I-It’s ok,” you mutter, taking a few steps closer to him, “I’m going to try to help you.”
Throwing your backpack to the ground, you take a seat in front of him, rummaging through your bag to find any supplies that may be able to help this poor creature. You always make sure to come prepared, because out in the field accidents happen all of the time. So luckily you have an emergency medkit. It’s meant for humans but you are sure it will do the trick for the time being.
When you reach out to him he snaps at you, almost biting your arm.
“Hey! I’m trying to help you! I know you are scared, but I promise I won’t hurt you.”
You can see the hurt and fear in his eyes when he looks at you. He has no idea that you are trying to help him. But the blood spilling from his wounds is too much and he loses the ability to care. He knows that he will die soon, so he stops fighting you.
The largest wound is on his tail, near his hip. It’s a deep laceration of some kind.
Cutting part of the net, to give you enough room to tend to his wound. You decide that stopping the bleeding is more important, and you will work on untangling him afterwards.
There is no time to waste so you hurry and disinfect the area and prep your needle. With trembling hands you begin to suture the large wound, resulting in a low, painful whimper coming from him.
“I know it hurts, but I have to do this or you will bleed out,” you console him but don’t stop stitching him up.
The skin on his tail is thick and tough, taking a lot of effort to get the needle to go through. But after lots of struggling, you manage to get the wound sutured. Taking some gauze and holding it to the wound to soak up some of the blood.
Scanning over the rest of his body, he has lots of smaller lacerations. They look like claw marks. But you can’t think of any sea creature that would have claws like that…
Once the bleeding mostly stops on the larger wound, you go to care for the other wounds. Disinfecting, covering with bandages, and suturing a few that are particularly deep. You run out of gauze pretty quickly, as he has many wounds and the moisture of his skin combined with the humidity in the air quickly dampens them.

Pact - Patron!Neuvillette x Warlock!Reader
Fantasy AU, GN!Reader
Content warnings: Very minor descriptions of gore at the beginning, slightly weird power dynamics and age difference because Neuvillette is not human (but to be clear, the reader is an adult).

“Neuvillette wishes to speak with you.”
It was an effort not to sigh when you heard the soft sweet voice behind you. You turned, already knowing the sight that would greet you as you wiped a smear of blood from your cheek. Low and behold, a well-dressed Melsuine stood before you—Sedene, if you recalled correctly.
You’d known this was coming, had felt the tug in the power that flowed through your veins—water currents twisting, drawing you back towards their source.
“Is it urgent?” you asked, keen to put this encounter off for as long as possible.
“I was asked to wait until you finished your work and then guide you to the closest source of spring water. You have finished now, haven’t you?” You’d never been able to read Melsuines’ expressions particularly well, no matter how much contact you had with them as Neuvillette’s subjects. Sedene—if that was indeed her name—was looking past you, something that might have been pity in her eyes as she took in the bodies. You stepped carefully in front of the worst of the gore, suddenly struck with a small twinge of guilt at your part in the grim display.
“I…” You could lie, could take advantage of Sedene’s innocence and say you were not in fact finished with your work, that Neuvillette would have to wait. The power in you surges once more, pulling at your core, likely attempting to drag you to whatever spring water Sedene had mentioned.
“Yes, I’m finished. Let’s go.” As you stepped towards her, you cast your hand back to the carnage, a cool sensation washing over your arm as your borrowed magic went to work, turning flesh to water until the only evidence of your activities was your blood-stained clothing.
If the Melsuine disapproved of your use of Neuvillette’s power, she did not say, instead lifting a small blue-green arm in the direction of a rock formation some distance away. “This way, please.”
You walked in near silence, the caw of magpies—their black and white shapes weaving through the few trees dotted about the grassy slope—the only sound aside from the faint crunch of plant matter beneath your feet. As you neared the large, slate-gray rocks, you realised they actually made up the mouth of a cave, the entrance just large enough for a person to fit through.
Sedene stepped through the opening without a hint of hesitation and you followed, pausing when you were met with only beckoning darkness.
“Is it much further?”
“It’s not far. Spring water flows from the mountains through this cave, a pool has formed in its depths.”
“I er…” you faltered, the taste of weakness bitter on your tongue. “I can’t see in the dark.”
“Oh.” She turned back to face you, the pink of her eyes dulled to gray in the thin strips of sunlight filtering through the cave entrance. “I’m sorry, you’ve been Neuvillette’s for so long that I forget you do not see as we do.”
You bit down on your tongue to avoid saying anything you might later regret—especially if enough of Neuvillette’s power had already manifested here to allow him to hear it. Sedene extended her arm towards you. “Don’t worry, I’ll lead you and make sure you don’t get hurt along the way.”
Her hand was cooler than yours, you noted as you wrapped your fingers around it, although you suspected the both of you ran cool compared to regular humans. You hoped she’d assume the trembling of your hand was due to nothing more than a fear of the dark as she led you into cave, turning a bend that robbed you of any remaining scraps of light. Truthfully, you didn’t like being in the dark as it forced you to rely on your other senses, including the one you’d received the day you signed your pact with Neuvillette—your sense of him. Clearly, he’d been waiting for you for a while, the already claustrophobic atmosphere heavy with his magic.
You knew you were close to your destination when you felt a sudden change in humidity, a fine mist spreading over your skin like a welcoming embrace. A shudder ran through you as Sedene came to a stop.
“We’re here, would you like me to guide you to the pool?”
“No,” you replied, letting go of her hand and then fighting against the panic of losing your only anchor in the dark. “I’ll be okay, if you could just wait nearby to help me when I leave that would be great.”
There was a lengthy pause, though without being able to see her face, you couldn’t even begin to guess at what the reason for it might be.
“I will show you the way out once he has finished with you.” The sound of soft footsteps back the way you’d come told you she was leaving and you struggled against the instinct to surge after her. It was likely she was just giving you privacy out of respect for Neuvillette—it certainly wouldn’t be his interests to leave you stranded in a cave in the middle of nowhere, or at least you hoped it wouldn’t anyway.
Letting out a sigh, you carefully took to removing your boots and socks, rolling your trousers up to the knee as you did so. After a bit of feeling your way around, you managed to find a wall to place them near, hoping that you’d be able to find them again when it came time to go. The water at least, you didn’t have to fumble your way to, Neuvillette’s power so apparent in it, you could feel the draw in every part of your body.
You slowly lowered yourself into it, wincing when you found the water line came up not to your knees but your waist, soaking your clothing. The moment you touched the pool, the effect was immediate, pale blue lights appearing in the water, allowing you to finally see the place you’d been brought to. The cave itself was fairly unremarkable, the lack of light resulting in little growing over the walls. The figure slowly forming from the water however, was an entirely different story. No matter how many times you’d seen this little party trick of Neuvillette’s, you couldn’t imagine you’d ever not be at least a little in awe of it. Water rising upwards and twisting together, coalescing until it formed pale skin and long white hair. Soon, the tall figure of Neuvillette was standing before you, and though the shape he took on was human enough, the violet hue of his eyes was not.
“Ah, there you are,” he said, his voice echoing in the small space.
“You wanted to see me?” You shifted awkwardly in the water, all too aware of how close he was.
For moment, there was no reply, Neuvillette simply regarded you with an expression you couldn’t read. “You’re covered in blood. You’re injured.”
“It’s not mine, it’s—” you started to say but cut off as you felt something caress the back of your thigh followed by a sharp sting. “Shit, I guess one of the guys I was fighting must have snagged me, but it can’t be anything more than just a scratch.”
“Hm.” The figure of Neuvillette remained standing in the water before you, even as something began to gently prod at your wound. Of course, this humanoid form of his was just put on for your benefit, for a water spirit such as him, the entire pool he’d turned his power towards may just as well have been his body—something you tried extremely hard not to think about while stood waist deep in it.
“Honestly, it’s fine we can just—” you let out an abrupt yelp as a surge of magic ran up the back of your thigh accompanied by the unpleasant feeling of your flesh knitting itself back together.
“It’s been taken care of. Are you injured anywhere else?”
Without waiting for a response, you felt the water slowly begin the creep higher over your body, searching for any other tears in your skin.
“Wait! I promise, I’m fine!” The water stopped but one look at Neuvillette told you it was not the end of the matter.
“Show me.”
“I’m telling you—”
He cut you off by speaking your name, and you were struck with the full magnitude of the influence he had over you. You could remember your mother telling you names had power, recounting you with bedtime stories of what happened to people who were stupid enough to use them to sign contracts with spirits in exchange for the magic equivalent of table crumbs. A pity you’d failed to take any of those lessons on board.
With no small amount of reluctance, you crouched down in the water, low enough that it covered you entirely. You gave Neuvillette roughly ten seconds before you stood up again, trying very hard not to imagine everything he’d been able to feel in that time.
“Satisfied?”
“Yes, thank you. I am relieved you came out of your confrontation relatively unscathed.”
You made an effort to wipe some of the water from your face with your sleeve. “So, what was it you summoned me here to talk about?”
“Ah yes. You remember the terms of our pact, I assume?” Your head snapped up to look at him. Of course you remembered, that pact bound you, body and soul, forgetting even a single line of it would have been foolish beyond reason.
“I do,” you replied carefully. “Did you want me to repeat them for you?” It was a relatively simple pact as far as these things went. The power you had been entrusted with was only to be used to harm those with ill-intent, you were to protect innocents and uphold order whenever possible, and should Neuvillette require you to use your skills in a particular place, then you were to go. Somewhat to your surprise, that last term had never come up, although you suspected it was because a being of his power never really needed a warlock to do their bidding.
“No, I trust that you are being truthful. However, I brought you here as I suspect you are unaware that you are close to breaking one of those terms.”
“What?” you snapped. “That’s not possible, I’ve taken every care not to. Those guys today were traffickers I’ve had my eye on for well over a month, there’s no way they don’t count as having ill-intent!”
“It is not the people you fought today I speak of.” Perhaps the worst part of this conversation was that Neuvillette didn’t even sound angry—at least certainly not the way a patron was supposed to when a pact came close to being broken. “It is with regards to the protection of innocents.”
You could only blink at him, utterly baffled. Had there been someone at the fight today you hadn’t noticed, someone you were supposed to protect?
Noting your confusion, he elaborated, “or did you not realise such a term extended to yourself?”
“Myself? What are you talking about?”
“When you first approached me, I was initially unsure of entering into such an agreement. You were young, even by human standards.” You’d been eighteen, not young exactly but more than a little stupid. “But you were so desperate to do good in the world, so full of compassion for it that I knew if I refused you, you would likely seek out another, perhaps one who was not so benevolent. And so, I decided I would take you as my own, and include a condition in your pact that would mean you would need to take your own safety into account.”
Of course you’d never thought the term innocents would include you, you’d stopped thinking of yourself as such the first time you’d spilled blood to save another. But better for you to dirty your hands than let the world rot, or at least that’s what you’d thought at the time.
“So what? I came close to breaking our pact because I got a scratch? I’ve been injured before and it’s never resulted in this.” You gestured towards him and the pool.
“I appreciate such injuries can be unavoidable at times, thus why the pact specifies that you should protect innocents where possible. But is it not true that you have spent the past several months working yourself to the bone? I cannot remember the last time I felt you stop to rest for any longer than required to keep your body going.”
There was no accusation in his eyes, if anything, you thought there might have been a slither of care. What were you supposed to say, that you were starting to regret your choices? That the last time you’d been home, you’d been too afraid to touch your best friend’s newborn son for fear of the amount of blood on your hands, no matter how clean they may seem to everyone else. That you looked at all the people you used to know and felt like you’d ruined yourself for the peaceful life they seemed to enjoy and now this was the only road forward.
“I admit I may have pushed myself a little harder than usual, but I wasn’t aware it would violate our pact. I can stop, take a couple of days off in the closest town, before…” Before getting back to work. But you couldn’t admit that, could you? Couldn’t say there was nothing else for you to get back to.
“I fear that even though you are now aware of your mistake, you will not be able to stop yourself from repeating it. I have watched you, you know, from the rain and the rivers and the streams, and this is why I have decided to step in myself.” You felt your stomach turn to lead, the walls of the cave suddenly seeming to push in on you.
“What do you mean?” you asked, trying to take a step back only to find your leg wouldn’t move, the water holding you firmly in its grasp.
“It means you will rest here, with me, until I am sure you are in a condition to properly take care of yourself again.”
“Wait, Neuvillette!” You reached out a hand, only to watch, horrified, as the water rose up from the pool and spread up your arm. With no warning, you were pulled down under the surface, water filling your nose and mouth. Drowning was of no concern to you, the magic you’d received made sure of that, but being trapped in here with Neuvillette was. You’d heard stories of what happened to people who were exposed to a spirit’s power for too long, warlock or not, and they very rarely came out entirely human by the end of it. And that was without taking into account that a spirit’s sense of time was likely to be very different to yours. How long would pass before you were allowed back into the world? Would your friend’s son be a man by the time Neuvillette let you go? You were struck with the thought of all the people you knew, wrinkled or dead while the healing power of his waters kept you preserved through the decades.
You tried to struggle, but it was useless, had been the moment you’d entered the water. The current pulled you to the bottom, those pale blue lights dancing above you as Neuvillette’s humanoid form dissipated, collapsing back into the water. He wasn’t gone though, you could feel him all around you, gentle hands coaxing you to sleep.
Rest, I will stay and protect you while you do.
His voice came from all around you, from the very liquid inside your skull. No, you thought desperately, fighting to stay awake even as your limbs were held down. But in the end, it was useless, and you were carried away with the tide as lights winked out above you.

"Mmh... are... you sleeping ?" A very confused voice asked
"Nnh ?!" You shot up on your bed, feeling the blanket shuffle down on your legs. You tried to open your eyes in a panic before hissing when sunlight punched your irises. The curtains. You forgot the damn curtains.
"You guys gotta stop doing that... I have a door, you know." You rubbed your eyes.
It was Mihael. How nice of her to wait over night to scold you for your behaviour. You weren't naive; you knew Adriel would go complain to his friend. But you were smart enough to know she wouldn't say anything about it. It's been centuries since she learned you could actually feel. Yet she never said a word about it to Chamuel or Jophiel. You did not fully trust her, but she was okay.
"What is it like to sleep ?" Mihael was always curious, but she lacked the bravery to try. Whether it was food, walking, sex, or, in that case, sleep, to satisfy her hunger for knowledge and experimentation, she came to you.
"Mmh, peaceful.. I guess-" You looked down at your chest and decided you had enough that people kept catching you half naked. So you snatched up your tank top and got up.
"Just peaceful ? That's it ?" She jumped on through the window on your bed, shoes on. Ugh.
"Yeah, yeah, and... energised too. Listen, Mihael, why don't you tell me what you want ?"
Yes, you were a bit rude, but you just didn't have time; you needed to get to Aziraphale to discuss where the boy might be. And if you wonder, you never went to Crowley's flat. Risking being caught by unexpected visitors was enough of a reason to not visit.
"Right, right ! So..." She looked down, gloomy. "It's time, Y/N; we're going to unfold the Bound soon." She confessed with a sad smile.
You shuddered. Fuck. You forgot about that.
"You know, the four horsmen are being summoned, and we need to lay off the Love so War can fully step in."
"Yeah, I can't come into my full power..."
"Really ? Me too !" She chirped, delighted that you shared her point of view. You scoffed but smiled anyway. It's really a shame she'll never get to experience human life.
"So, now we must turn off the flow of love and go back to heaven to prepare for war."
You ruffled your hair and grabbed a drink of water. Mihael's piercing eyes were etched on the glass, and you handed it to her with a sigh. She looked so happy, you almost wanted to laugh. How selfless of you...
She didn't quite know how to drink, however, but you decided to let her test the water, so to speak. Mihael coughed a bit.
"Does that mean hate demons will rise too ?" You interrogated, your tone genuinely dull.
"Oh, they better not ! They'll have to wait for the battle to start, those worthless rascals..."
The cupid suddenly gasped and looked at you with guilt. You know she didn't mean to insult him. Your lip twitched, but you sent her a reassuring smile. Still, she couldn't shake the regret out of her scent.
"You know, maybe he didn't turn into a hate demon..." Her sweet voice faltered as she went on.
"It's fine, Mihael. You should go; I'm sure Adriel is waiting for you." You cajoled her while leading her to the door. Yes, you have a door.
"About that..." She stopped and turned around. Her dark pink eyes just scanned yours to convey what she meant. Not that she had to; you could smell the snowy nights from miles away. "Just be careful, Y/N."
Her advice kind of fell on deaf ears. You were always cautious, but you didn't live in fear of what they'd do to you if they found out you were out of line. Yet, they dread the simple thought of what you could be. You sloped against your wooden door. What a good way to start the day...
Calling off all Love so War can enter the picture. It just felt so contradictory. You were a being of love and peace; how could you be excited to see humans kill each other and fight in a war, possibly going against Crowley or... well, you knew who. You will not let this world be torn to smithereens. It's your safe place, your heaven. Your home.
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
You strolled through the busy London streets, eager to get to Aziraphale as quickly as possible. A few people bumped your shoulders, stomped on your toes, and cursed at you. The withdrawal of love was already happening. Unsettled in an unwelcoming environment made you skittish, and you picked up the speed.
As you reached the bookshop, you stopped to analyse its not-so-familiar presence. The energy was angelic, yes, but it was so powerful...
Shit.
Archangels. And they were just leaving.
"Whoop- !" You activated your spell hastily. The chime rang, and the two entities simply walked off.
"No war, without war. Ah ! That's quite the line !" Grabriel almost yodeled. Right. You stayed there with heavy breathing.
Subconsciously, you called off the spell. Or maybe you didn't cast it in the first place. In any case, you didn't expect to feel the pressure of someone's hand on your shoulder.
"AH !"
Adding to the fact that your heart was about to explode just a second ago' the speed of your twirl did nothing to help you stay steady on your feet. Luckily for you, Aziraphale was alert enough to come to your rescue. He pressed his hand against your scapula and held you against his torso. You felt the side of your mouth twitch.
"I'm sorry, dear. I didn't realise how nervous you were." He jived, his cheekbones showing. But the smell of grapefruit told you you were not the only one nervous here.
"What did they want ?" You asked, feeling the ground with your own two feet again.
"Oh, they were just checking the status of the Antichrist." He opened the door for you and followed your lead.
"Why ? Did they suspect anything ?"
"Surprisingly, no. Not a thing." He shrugged in disbelief. You liked the scent of disbelief m: custard. Yes, just custard. Kinda hard to believe, heh ?
"Mh, Crowley's right... Heaven's not very bright, heh ?" You snickered. You sat on the couch and happily watched him chuckle.
"It seems so. It kind of makes me wonder if we are too." He took his place next to you.
"Oh no, we're bright." You started, glancing at him while pretending to reflect. "But we're also walking disasters.." You snorted.
"We can say the same about Crowley, then." He laughed and slid his right leg underneath his left thigh. You giggled and took a big breath of the new smell. Ah, freesia and blueberry pie; there's nothing better.
"Absolutely." You leaned back on the seat, literally comforted by the scent. "I just don't understand... What happened during the baby swap ?"
A few minutes pass. Minutes later, you just stared at each other. Before finally realising what might be the source of the problem.
"I think... I'm going to call Crowley reel quick-"
The ringtone of the bookshop's phone rang, interrupting you. Aziraphale quickly got up, with the help of his hand on your knee.
"Maybe it's him." He muttered while picking it up. "Hello, Fell's Bookshop, what can I do for you ?"
You waited for him. For a few seconds. Then you got bored. You left Eden at home, so you didn't have any company. So you decided to roam around the library.
"The Nice and Accurate Prophecies of Agnes Nutter ?"
The sculpture of a prancing horse proudly sat on a small table. You always had a lot of fun drawing the details with your fingers since the day he created his bookshop, which was also the first day you ate chocolate, if you remember correctly. You blew away the little dust that settled on his back, and flew right at you, making you cough.
"But there are..." He stopped to see what you were doing. You smiled, charming him up. His nose simply twitched before resuming. "There are no copies of her book available."
You stepped away from the horse and instead looked through Aziraphale's prophecy books. It has always amused me how humans try so helplessly to predict what the future holds. You were no stranger to the thought; you had your fair share of doubts about your own future. However, you learned what happens when you ask too many questions.
"I don't have it. Nobody has-" The sudden silence pushed you to study the angel's face. Apparently, the correspondent wasn't the most polite boy. His mouth was set in a hard line, and he stuck his nose in the air. He was so outraged that he reeked of watermelon and curry. You would agree that it's not a nice combination. Also, you hadn't noticed, but his glasses were quite fancy on him. You shook the thought away.
"Well, there really is no need for that kind of language." He hung up and put down his glasses. You couldn't help but stare for a moment. His bright, white hair caught the sun in its lock, giving him a glow to his already stunning face. Oh, stop already, will you ?
When you finally gawked back at the shelves, a huge brown spider welcomed you.
"Fuck- !" You yelled and fell back down with a loud thud, knocking a few books on your way. Azirphale gasped and sprinted by your side.
"Are you okay ?" He was very anxious. You were just embarrassed out of your mind.
"I'm fine... Let's just call Crowley already."
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
"Hey, this is Anthony Crowley. You know what to do. Do it with style."
No, it wasn't the demon answering machine. It was just you mocking him. Which he didn't seem to enjoy.
"Haha, keep laughing, and I'll bring back the spider to your face." He growled. "Why are you afraid of spiders anyway? Aren't you supposed to love all animals?"
Aziraphale was such a snitch ! Right after he got Crowley on the phone, he told him about your fall. You very distinctly heard his laugh after that.
"Stop your bickering, you two! And watch the road." He sighed, not comfortable at all. He didn't like speed that much. Nonetheless, for his best, Crowley should be the one to drive. You might give him a heart attack if you were the one behind the wheel.
"You've lost the boy."
"We've lost him." He corrected.
"A child has been lost. But you still know his age." He started to point.
"We know." He once again corrected
"We get it: you don't want to be the only one responsible." You rolled your eyes. Congratulations! You earned yourself a growl.
"We know his birthday. He's 11." Aziraphale was trying his best to keep your attention.
"You make it sound easy."
"Well, it can't be that hard..."
"At least it reduces the search area." You flapped your hand. You were still frustrated, and you felt his discouragement slowly becoming yours. Your heart filter wasn't doing very well. We only have to find his birth record."
"And then what ?"
"Well, then we find the child." Azirphale smiled. At least you could feel his hope too.
"And then what ?"
Aziraphale didn't know what to say. He simply stared at Crowley. Until a car honk cut short his attempt to find a solution.
"Watch out for that pedestrian !" The angel bawled with alacrity.
"Woah- !" You shouted. The movement had you flying on the left side of the back seat. You've never so close to the goddamn door.
"She's on the street; she knows the risk she's taking." He dissmissed. "And I'm sure it would help you two stop breathing down my neck."
You scoffed.
Oh, I'll give you 'breathing down your neck.
You scooted over to the right seat and leaned behind Crowley. Your mouth grazed his ear, and you felt the tiniest tilt of his head, like he forced himself not to move. So prideful, you joked to yourself.
"Just watch the road." You breathed down his neck. You grinned as you watched gooey bumps form on his skin. He really hated it. You laughed and pulled back. You patted his shoulders and repeated yourself. "Watch the road."
Your laughter died out as you saw Aziraphale gulp. You took back your place in the middle, almost guilty.
"Sorry, I forgot about personal space again."
Crowley's sunglasses blocked your view of his eyes; you couldn't tell if you had overstepped. We can all thank Aziraphale for his help in easing the tension.
Where is this hospital, anyway? He asked. He rubbed his sweaty palm on his trousers in an attempt to calm his nerves. Crowley coughed.
"Mh, a village near Oxford: Tadfield. His neck was still tensed. You really strung a string, huh?
"Crowley, you can't do 90 miles per hour in central London !"
"Why not ?"
"You'll get us killed! Well, inconveniently disincorporated. He granted.
"Oh God, no, not the paperwork..." You got disincorporated once, and it took you two years to finally get a new one. Still, you're sure it had been improperly delayed.
"Music ! Why don't I put on a little music...?" He hummed quizzically and looked over at you. "Do you know the Velvet Underground?"
"You wouldn't like it." Crowley interjected.
"Well, it kind of feels like you've been high the whole time."
"Oh, bepop!" He recognised you. You eyed him in disbelief before nodding.
"... Right-"
"Yah !" Aziraphale yelped. Crowley did a swerve to the right, flying you away in that direction.
"Brute !"
*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*
The air was stuffy. Like on a deeply hot day. It was overwhelming, too. As you left the car, you scanned around you, discretely sniffing the wind. It was not held in a constant flow of emotion; it permeated the air. But it felt good. It wasn't threatening in its presence; it just existed and belonged.
"Y/N ?" Crowley called out, standing in front of the manor gates next to Aziraphale. You studied the ark, made of bricks and white stone. The whole building was surrounded by metal fences, where you could at least see the central courtyard. Which seemed cluttered with a bunch of stuff.
"You're sure this is the right place? You wondered, doubtful.
You went to them, attempting to filter that particular emotion.
"It doesn't really look like a hospital." Aziraphale agreed with you when you got to their level.
But then it hit you. You gasped, like you'd been punched in the stomach. You grabbed the angel's arm to not collapse. That was so strong. You haven't felt such things in a long, long time.
"What is it ?" Crowley asked. You chuckled.
"It feels so loved." You gazed up. Aziraphale straightened your arm while he searched for it too. You pressed your hand to your chest. Your heart filter was giving you trouble, yes, but you sure as hell wouldn't complain about it.
"No, it's definitely the place. Crowley spoke, his tone faint.
"They're right..." He smiled at you, thrilled by the fulfilling sensation of love.
"Uh-hu... Sure, can we go see the nuns now ?" He led the way.
You scoffed. "Grumpy pants..." You followed in second.
Despite that, you looked at Aziraphale and giggled. You were glad to finally be able to share your joy without risking destruction for it. Immediately after, you three got shot by something.
"Argh !" For once, the three of you simultaneously exclaimed.
Crowley got hit inside his vest, right above the heart. In your case, the sharp pain was localised to your right hip. As for Aziraphale, the "bullet" struck his calf, making him hop on one foot for a second.
"What..."
You touched where the impact occurred and saw it was just... paint ?
"Blue ?" Aziraphale asked, ever-so-confused.
"Heh, yellow." You snorted. Oh, you've got red. You noticed Crowley's chest was covered with red paint. "One more, and we're Power Rangers.."
"Hey !" A nasal voice hollered. Crowley took one step forward in front of you and Aziraphale. The man in army clothing scoffed. What... are they doing out there? You saw the angel shuffle to see the state of his pants. "You've all been hit! I don't know what you think you're playing at-"
Crowley abruptly roared as his demon self and the whiny player fainted. "Well, that was fun." He smirked.
"Well, yes, fun for you. Look at the state of those trousers !" Aziraphale pivoted his leg for you to see. "I've kept them in tip-top condition for over 180 years now." Crowley started to circle around the both of you. "Oh, I'll never get this stain out."
"You could just miracle it away." You shuddered, saddened by his concern.
"Mmh, yes, but... Well, I would always know the stain was there." He explained, his tone brittle. You pouted with a smile. Ah, such pleading eyes ! How could you say no ? You twirled your wrist around, waving the paint away.
"Oh, thank you." You smiled and enjoyed the whiff of old books. The smell of thankfulness, if you wondered. You spotted the strange gun on the ground and picked it up.
"What a weird piece of hardware..." You enjoyed the design of it, actually. Might copy it, too. Replace the paintball stocking compartment with a crossbow flight groove and riser...
"Expert in the field ?" Crowley snorted before taking the gun away. "Don't your lot disapprove of guns ?" He asked and pretended to aim your way.
"Unless they're in the right hands," Aziraphale said, confiscating the weapon. "Then they give weight to a moral argument." His explanation seemed to amuse the demon, who had a big grin plastered on his face.
"A moral argument ? Really ?" He bugged the two of you. You were just thankful. Aziraphale took the subject into his own hands and just shrugged. He laughed a bit before walking towards the building.
"Come on."
Inside, a few posters and a board were displayed that showed the rules of "the paintball game". The reception seemed to also stock a few guns and helmets. Soon, they won't have to just play war... You heard the commotion through the window, plus a kindhearted "Fuck off" too.
"Charming..." Aziraphale mumbled to your right.
"Wonder where the nuns went ?" Crowley took a brochure from the little table on your left and inspected it.
"Any information about the former satanic maternity in that little paper of yours?" You teased. The demon forced a laugh before throwing the brochure away.
On your way, you encountered a young woman running your way.
"Oh, Millie from Accounts caught me on the elbow." She groaned. You ended up stopping diagonally. The angel bent slightly in front of her to check for a possible wound at her elbow. "Who's winning?"
"You're all going to lose." Crowley announced, since he was closer to her. He snapped his fingers, obviously operating a miracle. In an instant, the splashy sound of the bullets started to sound more like a machine gun than a fairly hurtful but still non-lethal weapon. The woman ran off.
"Huh..."
What the hell did you just do? Aziraphale snapped with frantic movements.
"Well, they wanted real guns, so I gave them what they wanted, he mused, visibly proud of himself. You followed right behind him. You couldn't help your incredulity and stared at him, mouth agape.
Once you got to a window, you and Aziraphale pressed against the window and saw barrels exploding, sparks, and dust everywhere.
"Crowley !" You stressed, running up to him.
"There are people out there shooting at each other. "The guardian lamented by your side.
"Well, it lends weight to their moral argument." He kicked a door, shattering glass in the process. Aziraphale joined his hands and fidgeted with his fingers.
"Everyone has free will, including the right to murder. Just think of it as a microcosm of the universe."
"Oh, don't try to lecture us, buddy !
"They're murdering each other." Aziraphale stood before Crowley, stopping him in his tracks. You joined him.
You saw Crowley roll his eyes, despite his glasses. "No, they aren't. No one's killing anyone; they're all having miraculous escapes. It wouldn't be any fun otherwise. He explained it before our pleading eyes.
You scoffed. You shared a knowing smile with Aziraphale. Sometimes, you forget that Crowley is actually a good person and are worried that he might harm humans. But he never did. Deep down, he really loved humankind. In a teasing mood, the two of you started to walk away in front of Crowley, discussing his case.
"Aah, what a softie." It was a real claim. One thing that the demon didn't particularly appreciate was that you felt him boil in your back. Aziraphale nodded.
"Of course. I've always said that, deep down, he really is a nice guy. He began, but gasped instead.
Well, both of you did.
Crowley had suddenly roared and seized you by your collars. He roughly pulled back, colliding both of your bodies against his. You stumbled back; your head clued his upper chest. You grabbed on to his waist to not fall. Aziraphale had landed a bit higher, at neck level, and was able to meet his gaze. He also stood approximately straight, while you were quite curled up against Crowley.
"Shut it ! I'm a demon; I'm not nice! You felt his voice rumble in his chest. You gulped. You weren't scared by any means, just... mh, troubled? "I'm never 'nice'. Nice is a four-letter word. I will not have-"
"Excuse me, gentlemen ?"
The pair both turned their heads towards the professional voice. All you could do was try to nuzzle your way up Crowley's arm to peek over the black vest.
"Sorry to break up an intimate moment. Can I help you? She slowed down, and Crowley had time to recognise her. You gazed up at him but couldn't quite make out his expression. Nor his smell.
"You." His grip loosened. You helped yourself back up with the help of your stretched-out arm. You saw Aziraphale analyse Crowley's expression.
"Saints and demons preserve us; it's Master Crowley-" The woman with short hair stepped back. She didn't have time to flee, however, as the demon snapped her in place.
"You didn't have to do that; you could have just asked her. Aziraphale scolded him while fixing his suit. Crowley opened his mouth wide and made an offended sound. Alright, let's not discuss what just happened, then... You felt the angel's hand dust your shoulder swiftly.
"Of course, of course ! No. Yeah. 'Excuse me, ma'am, we're three supernatural entities just looking for the notorious Son of Satan. I wonder if you might help us with our inquiries." He spat and flashed his teeth in a scornful manner.
"Of course, of course ! No. Yeah. 'Excuse me, ma'am, we're three supernatural entities just looking for the notorious Son of Satan. Wonder if you might help us with our inquiries ?'" He spat and flashed his teeth in a scornful manner. You shot him a disapproving look but didn't say anything.
You walked up to her and let Aziraphale do the questioning.
"Mh..." He coughed, unsure. "Look... hello." His smile was always so sweet. You breathed a laugh and shook your head at your proximity. "You weren't, by any chance, a nun here at this convent 11 years ago, were you ?"
"I was." She acquiesced, completely transfixed.
"Mmh, luck of the devil." Eyebrow raised, you looked at Aziraphale, who had quite the cocky little smile on his face. You glanced at Crowley and held yourself back from snorting at the sight of your shared experience.
"What happened to the baby that was given to you ?" You asked.
"I swapped him with the son of the American ambassador. Such a nice man." You caught the smell of sun-soaked sand. You couldn't help but smile when you felt how fond she was of the memory. "He used to be the ambassador of Swindon." She added.
Honestly, you were relieved you found as much confusion on their faces as you felt. Crowley shrugged and shook his head, showing that he had no clue what the fuck she was talking about.
"Then Sister Theresa Garrulous came and took the other baby away."
"This American ambassador—what was his name ? Where did he come from ? And what did he do with the baby ?" The demon snarled, his red hair flying everywhere.
"I don't know."
"Records." Aziraphale insisted. "There must have been records." He gestured for her to continue.
"Yes. There were lots of records. We were very good at keeping records."
"Good; so where can we find them?" You questioned.
"They were unfortunately burned in the fire."
Crowley groaned and threw it back in pure annoyance. "Hastur !"
Aziraphale queried again.
"Is there anything you remember about the baby?"
"He had lovely little toesies-woesies." Her response brought a smile to your face, matching Aziraphale's. Crowley obviously had enough and took off.
"Let's go."
"You will wake, having had a lovely dream about whatever you like best. He miracled. You added a good memory orb discreetly for good measure.
"Oi." Crowley called.
As you approached outside, the sirens overtook all sound, and you saw dozens of policemen evacuating the players and taking their rigged weapons.
"You'd think he'd show up, wouldn't you ? You'd think we could detect him in some way." Aziraphale notified. He waved away a bit of smoke.
"He won't show up. Not to us. Protective camouflage." Crowley reached behind your back and pulled on Aziraphale's arm firmly, dragging you along. A bullet zoomed to your right.
"He won't even know it, but his powers will keep him hidden from prying occult forces."
You were nearing the exit, and the air felt heavy in your lungs. The stress you felt was really increasing as the trail of the investigation plummeted. Plus, the fact that love was slowly disappearing was freaking you out of your mind. You felt a constant pull trying to get you back to heaven, where all the love was stored away. Everything was just too nerve-wrecking for your dysfunctional little heart.
"Occult forces ?" You heard Aziraphale's question.
"Well, you know, us."
You watched the angel's features contort into perplexity.
"We're not occult." Crowley sighed at his objection. "Angels aren't occultists; we're ethereal."
You didn't know what it was. Maybe it was the pressure of it all, or just the fact that Aziraphale still at to make such shallow precision, but you giggled quietly at first. The more it grew, the more it alerted the two entities. It was apparently communicative since they also started laughing softly. You continued to joke on your way to the car. You took you regular seat back, and smiled foundly as the two in the front.
Yeah, Armaggedon was bad. But at least you didn't have to face it on your own.

Slowly, Randy came to his senses.
He didn't get out of bed right away. A sleep that deep and luxurious was hard for him to come by, and he was going to relish it.
What finally convinced him to get up was the smell.
Eggs. Bacon.
Mmmmmmm...
He stretched, remembering the trip and all it entailed.
Rosie...
He sat up and looked around. He vaguely remembered that Perzi had been in here with her when he'd gone to bed, but now they were gone.
He was alone.
He stood up, stretched again, and left the room.
The aroma blasted him as the door opened.
Viviana and Akoya, in human form, were busy in the kitchen. Lav, now in her Mewtwo form, was at a circular table with a plate of syrup-laden pancakes. Beside her, Midas carefully licked and nibbled at his own pancakes, while Momo was messily consuming hers. Randy chuckled at the sight of her.
Guess she'll be needing a bath soon.
Lav looked at him, paused her eating, and smiled. Morning Daddy!
The ladies both turned to him. Viv smiled at her son. Ah, good! You woke up!
Kinda hard to sleep with that in my nose. Mmm!
Viv showed her teeth, her smile turning sly. That was the plan~
I hope you got enough sleep. It's been hours, but I wouldn't blame you if you want more.
Nah. He pulled up a chair beside his children. I'm plenty rested!
His stomach growled. Lav and Midas looked at him, Midas tilting his head in curiosity. Dah hungee?
Randy smiled at the little Mew. Yes. Very. He rubbed Midas' head. Smart boy!
Akoya placed a plate of eggs, bacon, and toast in front of him, then wrapped her arms around his neck from the back. Hope it's good. I know I'm not the best at cooking, but I tried to follow directions the best I could!
Between you and Mom, I'm sure it's fantastic! He turned and pecked her on the cheek. Thank you. Thanks Mom! This and pancakes--that's a lot to make.
Viv set plates for her and Akoya down, smiling warmly at Randy. It's my pleasure! All your happy faces make it no work at all. She watched Momo slap her paws yet again into a puddle of syrup. We'll make sure Momo's bathed as well. You don't need to worry about her.
Randy took a bite, grateful at her words. Then his previous concern resurfaced. ...Where's Persim and Rosemary?
Akoya looked at him, her expression turning slightly defensive. Persim took her out for a bit. He was... really not liking being in the house. She continued before Randy could say anything. We talked it over. He'll be careful. I can't imagine Rosie will want to be apart from him at all anyway.
Randy didn't respond. He poked a bit at the food on his plate as he mulled over it all.
He and I chatted... He... He's sure you're mad at him.
...I was... But I wanna put that aside. I know he's upset about it, so I want to focus on how we can learn from this. He shrugged with a bitter chuckle. I can't exactly claim I was a great father when I started, after all. He lifted another bite to his mouth. I'll find him after I eat. I need to put that water under the bridge.
Randy walked out the back door. Before transforming to seek out his brother-in-law, he looked around the yard. Then, he spotted what he was after.
The blue and white bird, her head tilted up to the morning sunlight.
He smiled softly as he approached her. Hearing his footsteps, she turned to him, her eyes cloudy with cataracts. Hey there, Sivvy.
Sylvia's tiny white beak, chipped and streaked from age, formed into her own smile. Randy!
He took her head in his hands, gently rubbing her head with his fingers. I need to find Akoya's brother, but Mom told me you were out here. So I wanted to say hi.
She trilled happily. You didn't need to, dear boy! I know you have serious business to attend to. I'll still be here when it's settled.
He gave Sylvia's head a soft kiss. Regardless, I'm sorry I missed you yesterday. I hit a wall.
I understand! Please, don't worry about it! You take care of the hurt little one and her poor father, okay? He's worried sick.
Randy nodded, though he knew she couldn't see him. Understood. I'll do my best, Sivvy. He patted her head, backed away, and transformed. Talk to you later.
Good luck with the brother, dear!
And with that, Randy took off.
As he'd learned and practiced, he reached out with his energy. Before too long, he sensed the loud tide that must be Rosemary. He made sure the little bundle in his hand was safe, and set his course for it.
Soon, he spotted Persim floating through the trees and tall grasses. Not sure how to start, Randy cleared his throat.
Ahem.
Persim slowly turned, but not fully. The side of his face that Randy could see was filled with guilt and fear.
Randy smiled before floating to Persim's side. The orange Mew refused to make eye contact.
I'm not mad.
Persim glanced at him. His tiny daughter was clinging tightly to his chest fur, her left foot bound in a miniature splint. Perzi was supporting her with his hand.
Yes, things could've gone better.
But I can say the same about events from my past. Choices I've made...
All we can do is move on and try to do better. Learn from what's happened.
He held out his hand.
Believe me, I know it isn't easy. But Akoya and I are always here to help you, when you need it. ...Not if. When.
Persim looked at his hand, before sighing and taking it in his own.
That's... That's a huge relief... Thank you, Mate.
They exchanged soft smiles before releasing their grips.
Then Randy turned his attention to the little red Mew. He spoke softly to her. Hey, Rosebud. I know you're really scared, and probably don't see me in a good light after taking you from your dad. He handed out his bundle--a small lump of Tamato berry shavings. But I brought you a peace offering.
He held the shavings up by her until she turned. Her eyes were narrowed--a far cry from the usual silent-curiosity they usually displayed. Randy felt his heart break all over again. Would she ever have that look again?
But as he held still, her little nose started twitching, and she leaned toward the berry shreds. She carefully reached out and took some in her tiny little paw, and nibbled on it. Randy smiled, relieved to witness her eating something.
Persim gave them a warm look. You'll win her back, Mate. Just give it time.
Randy sighed as she took more of the shreds from him. Time and spicy shavings.
That's a cute nickname, by the way. Rosebud.
Randy's ear twitched. Huh? Oh, I have been calling her that, haven't I? I didn't even notice.
Mee...?
The timid voice brought his attention back at her. The little Mew was giving him a narrowed side-eye. Realizing he had strayed beyond her reach, he moved the berry shavings closer. She snatched some up and began nibbling again.
He chuckled.
Hopefully this means more spicy shavings than time...

Just so you know, Rosie was fed in the morning. I don't imagine she ate much due to her stress, but she was fed. Randy's just happy to witness her eating.
Also he hasn't put his ring back on yet. XD

My Favorite Games of 2023.
Hi. Hello. Thanks ever so much for clicking on this page. Happy to have you.
First thing's first: I'm a little freak when it comes to video games. I don't feel the need to beat most games I play. From Software is one of my favorite studios in the industry and I've never finished a single one of their games. This means, fortunately, that I get to play a LOT more games than the average bear.
I've written up some blurbs about my top ten favorite games from 2023, but before that here's the list of every game I remember playing this year that left any sort of lasting impact on me (in no particular order):
Dead Space Remake Resident Evil 4 Remake F-Zero 99 Humanity Dredge Metroid Prime Remastered Anemoiaplois Alan Wake 2 Baldur’s Gate 3 LoZ Tears of the Kingdom Counter Strike 2 Hunt Showdown El Paso Elsewhere Jusant Slay the Princess| Remnant II The Finals Street FIghter 6 Lethal Company BattleBit Remastered Don’t Scream Homebody The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog Pizza Tower World of Horror Super Mario Wonder Mr. Sun’s Hatbox Fifa 23 Sea of Stars (Demo) Half-Life (25th Anniversary Update)
And the games I played that were NOT released in 2023:
Unpacking Persona 4 Golden Picross 7 The Order 1886 Shovel Knight Dig Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Spider-Man: Miles Morales Pac-Man Championship Edition DX Project Zomboid Quake LoZ The Minish Cap Drill Dozer Wario Land 4 Pokemon Pinball Resident Evil Revelations Summer of ‘58 Trackmania TwinCop We Were Here Visage Cursed Halo CE Half-Life 2 (I probably play this once per year) Witch Hunt Red Dead Redemption 2 Cyberpunk 2077 Borderlands 3 Brutal Legend Cultic Slay the Spire PUBG Rez Infinite Batman Arkham City Alan Wake Alan Wake: American Nightmare Max Payne LoZ: Majora’s Mask 3DS Metroid Prime Metroid Prime 2 Tunic Everhood Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy VII Remake GOODBYE WORLD Yakuza: Like a Dragon Critters for Sale Dome Keeper Phasmophobia Hades Nintendo Switch Sports
Now that you understand the kind of freak you're dealing with…
Let's dive into my top ten favorite games from this objectively fucked up year.
10. El Paso Elsewhere Developed by Texas indie studio Strange Scaffold, El Paso Elsewhere is a Max Payne-clone with vampires, an opinionated narrator, and lots and lots of bullet time. As a small studio punching well above their weight class, Strange Scaffold leans into abstract, PlayStation 1 minimalism when it comes to visuals and pairs them with a soundtrack that will make your hands sweat. The vibes are here and they're ready for the end of the world. I'm personally also a big fan of everything this studio stands for.
Tumblr media
9. Mr. Sun's Hatbox I want you to imagine Metal Gear Solid V. Now I want you to imagine that game as a 2D, level-based, slapstick platformer you can play with up to three friends. If you think that sounds stupid, you'd be right. And it's beautiful. As you build up a secret army of soldiers with various skills (and disorders), you'll start to develop *favorites*. This game constantly asks if you're willing to send those favorites on a harrowing mission and risk losing them forever… or if you'd rather send an idiot you recently captured who blinks constantly and can't kill anyone without fainting.
Tumblr media
8. Dredge Every year I feel like I find one game that falls into the “just one more round” category, and baby… Dredge was it for 2023. As a weary fisherman in strange waters, you'll make the most out of your 12 measly hours of sunlight only for your daily voyages to inevitably pull you into the darkness of night, and night is when things get weird. Rocks emerge from the fog that you swear weren't there before, your equipment malfunctions, and you're pretty sure you just saw something in the water… something big. Despite only containing a small collection of islands, the world of Dredge manages to feel vast - perhaps vast enough to swallow you whole.
Tumblr media
7. Resident Evil 4 Remake I was curious to see what sort of changes would be made to the timeless classic and father of modern 3rd person shooters, Resident Evil 4. I wasn't let down. RE4 Remake takes all the things that didn't age well about the original, tossed them out, and replaced them with only good things. And MORE things! It's campy, fun, and better than a game of bingo.
Tumblr media
6. Jusant I really feel like this one didn't get the recognition it deserves. Jusant is a rock climbing game that combines the quiet contemplation of Journey with the mechanical specificity of Death Stranding. Unlike Death Standing, though, there is very little story to interrupt your flow. There are plenty of collectible bits to find for those curious to learn more about what happened before the events of the game, but the environmental storytelling does most of the heavy lifting. For me, the joy of the game comes from how it feels. Right trigger controls your right hand grip, and left trigger controls left hand grip. Plan your route, manage your stamina, and climb high above the clouds in search of answers.
Tumblr media
5. F-Zero 99 This. Shit. Slaps. I've never been a big F-Zero guy, but this MADE me one. The “battle royale”, 99 player format is the perfect fit for the ruthless, high octane world of the game. Races last about three minutes, and friend, they are the most intense, white-knuckled three minutes of your life. The decision to make your boost meter the same as your health meter started in F-Zero 64 (I believe), and it is so much more HARROWING in this game when another player could side-swipe you mere meters from the finish line and blow you to bits. Sadly it's only playable via Switch Online, but it made me cheer, laugh, and scream enough this year to earn a spot in my top 5.
Tumblr media
4. Alan Wake 2 Remedy makes weird games that also manage to exist in the AAA space and for that I will forever love them. Although Alan Wake 2 resembles a 3rd person shooter survival horror, I'd honestly say it's more of a narrative game than anything else. There's sidequests, there's puzzles, there's upgradeable skills, but at the end of the day the characters, world, and story are what kept me playing. If you haven't checked them out recently, you should definitely watch a story recap of the original games before diving into this sequel, but the wild swings for the fences this game takes are well worth that small price of admission. There's a god damn musical number, for Christ's sake.
Tumblr media
3. The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom I've really got nothing to say about this game that most people don't already know. It's incredible. The fact that Nintendo made a game that redefined an entire genre and then made a SEQUEL to it that ups the ante is remarkable. To be honest, I've only cleared the Rito, Zora, and Goron cities. I got a bit tired of exploring the depths and guiding Koroks to their friends, but I can't deny the sheer level of complexity and polish on display here. I saw someone on TikTok build a functioning Mecha Godzilla in this game. Good God. I've heard that the ending of this game is one of the best in the franchise, and if I'd seen it this year then it may have wound up higher on my list, but for the time being I'll continue picking up this masterpiece from time to time, chipping away at it until the day comes that I can finally smack the tits off thicc Ganondorf.
Tumblr media
2. Half-Life (25th Anniversary Update) I know I'm gonna get shit for this, but I don't care. This year was the 25th anniversary of Half-Life and Valve released an update that made playing it (and it's online Death Match) much more accessible. I threw it on my Steam Deck out of curiosity, expecting to play for 20 minutes. I could not put it down. It is unbelievable how modern this game still feels. I simply had so much fun sprinting through the corridors of Black Mesa with a dozen weapons strapped to my back, blasting aliens and military Spec-Op chumps as a 24(?!) year old theoretical physicist.
Tumblr media
1. Baldur's Gate III This game is fucked up, man. The sheer amount of writing in this game scares me. We can all talk about how BIG this game is, it deserves it, but the thing BG3 does better than any other role playing game I have ever experienced is actually encourage roleplaying. I've played through Act I four times now, with four different groups of friends, and it has felt fresh every time. I have seen the same events play out in so many different ways that it boggles the mind, but in every one of those play sessions I see players asking themselves “What would my lil guy do here?” rather than "what is the best thing to do here?" The game rewards players constantly for just trying shit and the D&D 5e rule set means playing like the character you said you were from the start leads to frequent Points of Inspiration. Maybe one day I'll see the end of this story (probably not), but I don't have to in order to feel a connection with BG3's world, characters, and most impressively, the characters I made myself.
Tumblr media
Honorable Mentions for 2023
5. Dave the Diver 4. Homebody 3. Sea of Stars 2. Humanity 1. Super Mario Wonder
Top 5 Favorites NOT from 2023
5. Metroid Prime 4. Final Fantasy VII Remake 3. Cursed Halo (Halo CE Mod) 2. Red Dead Redemption 2 1. Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask (3DS)
Games I didn't have a chance to play from 2023 but still want to when I find more time...

Castiel relaxes his body, floating weightless as the water takes him with it, swaying him lightly. Summer is rapidly coming to an end so the water is starting to get colder. He almost shivers at the contrast between its temperature and the heat of the Sun plummeting down on him. He can hear loud conversations all around him, the laughter of kids as they swim around. All is muted, as if he were miles away from the rest of the world, by the lulling sound of the gentle waves around him.
He floats away, head pleasantly blank, at least until he collides with something, or someone, judging by the familiar laugh that follows the clash. That sound always has laughter bubbling up in Castiel's own chest, a warm and fond smile playing with the corners of his mouth.
"Hello Dean." He opens his eyes, squinting at the sudden brightness of the sunlight hitting his eyes, Dean hands him his sunglasses, the one he left, forgotten, on his towel back on the shore.
A wet, cold, hand runs up and down his stomach, making his muscles there jump slightly at the touch, "just wanted to let you know we are thinking about leaving, it's getting late, I also didn't want you to end up floating your way to China," Castiel shakes his head, amused by the exaggeration and theatrical dramatics of such an impossible statement, he changes his position, standing next to Dean, the water reaching his collarbones.
"I'm glad you stopped me before I could see myself in such a predicament, China is a long way from here." Dean simply splashes him, laughing when Castiel does the same thing in retaliation.
They start the way back to the shore, Dean wraps an arm around his shoulders when they get there, Castiel leans heavily against his side, they haven't done much today but he still feels exhausted and ready to go back to the motel room he shares with Dean, who right now is pulling him even closer against his side, "I was sure you were going to turn into a fish had I left you back there for five more minutes."
"I believe the change from angel to human was enough, I don't think I can go through any more transformations."
"Unless the right monster of those nasty ones we hunt bites you, huh."
Castiel rolls his eyes, "I will keep that in mind, don't worry."
