On the 8th October this year I should have celebrated a pretty big milestone, 8 years without drinking but instead I was devastated at the loss of my dad due to drugs. On that day of all days. 😢💔 He had a drug problem when I was little (which was always very hard on me) but had been clean for many years and clearly relapsed. We have only just found this out which also made it so much harder to bear. 😭 I am heartsick that his demons got the best of him and things ended this way. My family & I are angry & disappointed yet I understand. I do not know what led him down this path and wish I could have done something but I will keep being strong where he could not and not let addiction run my life. 💪🏻 Despite this tragedy I have been clean & sober for 8 years, 2 months & 1 day and that won’t change. I am dedicated to this journey and being better. 🙏🏻 If you’re thinking of giving up drugs or alcohol take this as your sign, your sign that you’re strong and you can do it. On Friday 8th October at 14:12 I received a phone call telling me my dad had died.
