hot take but “kill all men” and similar proclamations that all men are evil and inherently bad is not feminist and is only making things worse, pushing men to become like Andrew Tate. it is also removing accountability from men who are actually bad; “you can’t get mad at me, it’s in my nature!”
you are not helping anyone. not yourself, not women, not men. you are just hurting actual good people while the people you are trying to hurt are enabled. you are not turning people away from misogyny, you are pushing them towards it.
hating all men is not cool. it is not feminist. no issue is solved by simply reversing who is being affected.

Science Museum Group changed offensive object tittle after getting my letter
here's the story about it:
Wonderful @solariium commissioned me wonderful victorian-era wheelchair user character to draw. Refs were provided, and one of the links was an object in online museum gallery - vintage wheelchair.
solariium, who is wheelchair user theirself, mentioned that tittle of the object is incorrect but it was good picture for the ref. i wondered "what's with the tittle?" looked in the link and saw
Tumblr media
ID: screenshot of online museum collection, vintage old wheelchai object page. the tittle of wheelchair says: Invalid chair, Europe, 1850-1890. end ID
welp. incorrect indeed! [i* is outdated offensive term]
so i decided to make a special move
Tumblr media
ID: my drawing of a character from anime "mob psycho 100" - Arataka Reigen. He holds a phone next to his ear, his face epression is very confident. It's all anime sparkles lights effects around him and text "REIGEN SPECIAL MOVE". end ID
and USE MY POWER
of writing emails
i don't have problems with writing emails, so i thought why not
and

Tumblr media

it worked!
As human who made bunch of projects, i can say that keeping museum gallery is tone of work.
And tittle change - no, it's not just changing few letters.
Changing tittle of object in museum is similar to changing name of game file. Catalogs changes, maybe they have irl gallery, so new card, they probably have some code objects system related to tittles, and scientists, students, make reference to this object in their researches and articles and etc etc.
So, yeah, it * is * a lot of work. Also, they changed description, it now says that this object was "historically referred to as ‘invalid chair’". And i think it's good, because it is not erasing fact of people used this word, and it's addition to the progress context - we literally see now old term clarified as past, and new one, now, in the tittle.
(and yes, web link. i just saw that i* word still there. yeah, not perfect but still, considering things i said above - big work done)
I used some conversation strategy in case "this is offensive can you fix" will not be enough — started on positive attitude giving compliment on their collection being big and interesting, gave them extra argument on why this should be fixed (more actual search key words on this now are "vintage wheelchair", not "i* chair"). Then we had a little letters chain, where they answered politely too, and in about few days i got detailed answer on this, and yep, changed tittle.
And i think this shows, that if someone did mistake and someone noticed it and giving feedback on it, if both sides are interested in progress and making good changes, no matter how hard it is, sides can make a change, working together and being kind. And i think we should be more brave about making such connections!
Thanks again to @solariium and museum workers!

Welp Senate officially passed the bill to ban TikTok.
I know a lot of people on this app hate TikTok, and believe me I get where that is coming from, but this is a huge violation of the first amendment and has horrifying implications for free speech.
It’s also very telling that they’re doing this right now. TikTok is one of the biggest ways that people in Palestine have to show the rest of the world what is happening. The government wants to take away this access and information.
It’s also one of the fastest ways people all around the world spread information. This is what a modern day book burning looks like.
The bill is going in front of the president tomorrow. He has the power to veto it, so write and call as soon as your can:
The number for the White House is:
202 456-1111

A little hope in these dark times
I have previously talked about the token "Good Jews" that I know. One of them is dear to me so whenever they share something that is blatantly false I will then reach out. Each time they are receptive and delete the offending post and it allows us to have a conversation. In each instance they go "Oh, I didn't know that." That's the important part. They're Jewish, but they didn't know better. This friend was born into a Jewish family, went through all the standard Reform milestones, but after 13 they stopped engaging. Being Jewish became a tertiary thing for them and did not necessarily matter. As such they did not learn about the history of our people, the actions taken against us, and other major events outside of what they learned through high school and from their social circle (of which is mainly made of goys, so it's wild they take Jewish history from non-Jews). How do I know this? In our most recent exchange they shared something from IG that stated the persecution of Jews only happened in the West (read: Wester European Christian majority countries and the USA) and never is Muslim countries. I reached out and said this is demonstrably false and referred them to the Shiraz incident(s) that happened in the late 19th and early 20th century. They tried to double down and imply that the persecution that occurred in these pogroms was somehow exported to Iran from the USA at this time. So of course I gave examples of persecution prior to the colonist arriving in the USA. The response? "Oh...this is deeper than I thought." And they further admitted they had only a basic understanding of Jewish history that wouldn't even fulfill a 101 course. So it looks like they are finally grasping that the posts they are sharing from goy on Jewish history and events are in fact wrong and they need to become educated on their people's actual history. My fingers are crossed that this will actually happen and they won't fall back into being a token and share misinformation. And as always, this is my own personal experience and interactions. I'm not saying this is true for all tokens, this is for one particular instance with someone I care for.

the fucking arrogance and blatant nationalism in the way europeans declare polce brutality a "US problem" as if americans are the only people with a corrupt system
my leftist swedish mother actually agrees with ACAB with the addendum that it's only the Americans, we're not like that here
let the brutal forced used on greta thunberg, a swedish teenager protesting climate change, by dutch police be a testament to the lie of european "democracy" and how it is democracy in name and nothing else.
let the immigrant kids who are brutalized, humiliated and oppressed every day in sweden by cops who "protect and serve" serve as a reminder of how incredibly flawed we are.
let the 700% increase in death by cops in sweden in the last ten years show us how we are no better than the americans we condemn.
we are not better. you are buying into propaganda if you think this doesn't apply to your country too

The day Taylor Swifts new album album came out every news outlet and radio station from national to local in my country was talking about it ALL DAY and even now, they’re still talking about her new music. Imagine the impact she could have just by simply posting #freepalestine or anything to show support for the victims of the current genocide. Don’t sit there tell me celebrities don’t have an impact on politics when they make national headlines by releasing new music. A famous persons voice is just as powerful as their career and their stances on certain issues or lack thereof do matter.

Harvard Silences Pro-Palestinian Voices
Tumblr media
Harvard University has suspended the Harvard Undergraduate Palestine Solidarity Committee after months of administrative repression, harassment and intimidation from right-wing politicians and donors, the group said in a statement sent to Middle East Eye.
"For months, we have been disproportionately targeted by the administration on the grounds of technicalities that we tried to observe vigilantly in the interest of protecting student safety," the statement on Monday read. Harvard PSC said on 6 March that it had been retroactively placed on probation since 1 March, for a February event that it had not officially sponsored. The student group was subsequently suspended this week because it held a rally in solidarity with the Columbia students and in protest against student repression with group that were not official student organisations.
The group said that Harvard University has demonstrated time and again that Palestine remains the exception to free speech.
"After standing idly by as pro-Palestine students faced physical and cyber harassment, death threats and rape threats, and racist doxxing, Harvard has now decided to dismantle the only official student group dedicated to the task of representing the Palestinian cause," the group said.
"As the death toll in Gaza rises with each day of the ongoing genocide, our right to protest this violence only becomes more important. It is shameful - but not surprising - that an institution that is actively invested in Israel’s blatant violence against Palestinians, one that hesitates to even recognize the existence of Palestinians in its official communications, has taken the extra step to erase the only official student group dedicated to solidarity with the people of Palestine."
Since the events of 7 October, when a Hamas-led attack on southern Israel killed 1,150 and over 200 were taken back to Gaza as hostages, the Strip has been under siege and deprived of basic necessities while facing a devastating bombing campaign by Israel.
At least 34,000 Palestinians have been killed and around a million displaced, in what has been described as an unfolding "genocide". Harvard University, like several other educational institutions in the US, has been a key site of struggle for pro-Palestinian protesters since Israel's war on Gaza began. Pro-Israel groups and billionaire donors have repeatedly conflated criticism of Israel with antisemitism.
In December, Harvard president Claudine Gay testified at a Congressional hearing about antisemitism on campus. Her testimony drew widespread criticism and led to her resignation in January. Harvard University did not respond to MEE's request for comment.
