Here’s my Batfamily designs in full, with a height chart! I’ll do the rest of the batfam at some point, but I have the main crew for now. Also, just a small little reminder that these are my designs, that adhere vision of each character. You are allowed to have your own opinions on how they look, please just be respectful of mine. I am open to criticism and feedback though, as long as it’s genuinely constructive. Feel free to ask questions too if you’re curious about my choices!

Hey Guys! So recently I’ve seen a few things regarding Romani Dick Grayson, and how his comic portrayal is lowkey racist and a bit problematic. In this universe Im creating, I would like to keep his hematite as Roma/Romani, however I want to go about it in a positive way that can serve to accurately portray the culture, or at least a small portion of it, in a representative way. I want a character that people can see themselves reflected in, rather than a caricature of the culture. That being said, I am still a white American and google can only get me so far, so if anyone knows of any good resources I can look into, or anyone that would be willing to work with me on this, that would be fantastic.
(This is also not limited to just Dick Grayson, if there are any other characters you want to see accurately represented, feel free to reach out to me about those too. I don’t have Duke’s experience as a black man, or Barbara’s in a wheelchair, but these characters all mean so much to me and I want to show them off as the badasses they are, while not taking away from the things that make them unique. I want diversity in stories, but not just for the sake of diversity. Kids and adults deserve to have characters they can see themselves in. Not everyone is a straight white man. Steph is someone I relate a lot to, so most of my characterization of her is me projecting a bit, and I want to give other people that opportunity as well. Sorry for the rant, but I hope this reaches the right people.)

bruce has incredibly detailed contingency plans for himself incase he ever is mind controlled or cloned or whatever. the contingency plans for his kids however are
•give dick ice cream. he wil forget his lactose medication and be otherwise indisposed for the next several hours (idk where the dick is lactose intolerant headcanon came from but i love it lmao)
•dog-ear a corner of jasons favorite book
•tell tim there was an emergency at wanye enterprises
•legally adopt steph and she will be too emotionally distraught to commence whatever evil plans she had
•ask cass nicely to not be evil please
•give damian find a litter of kittens and “grant him permission” to take care of them. he will be busy for the next several days/months
• tell duke that he forgot alfred’s birthday party plasn and watch him scramble and throw a suprise party, ensuring he will preoccupied for several hours
I agree with all of those, except I think there’s a good chance his plan for Jason would backfire spectacularly and instead send Jason on a murder spree

Tim Drake, to me personally, is a selective genius. More accurately, he’s just an insanely fast learner when something even mildly interests him (typically something mentioned by Batman and/or Robin). Unfortunately this leads to weird and inconsistent gaps in his knowledge.
Like, for example, and referencing a post about him being unable to work computers I’ve made in the past, Tim learned all about PC hardware because Batman mentioned upgrading the Batcomputers specs once, which was then plastered across forums with the title of like “BATMAN SEEMS TO HAVE THE BUDGET OF NASA, IS THIS WHERE OUR TAX PAYER DOLLARS ARE REALLY GOING?” and Tim wanted to harness the power of the sun to create something similar. This led him down a rabbit hole, and now he can create a super computer from someone’s spare junk drawer. However, when it comes to installing software and actually using the PC beyond its basic functions? Uninteresting. The only reason he learned later on in his Robin career was because Barbra found his lack of ability to hack deeply concerning and decided to remedy it. She provided the proper motivation.
Other weird ass conversations include:
- Was able to deduce the strain of fear toxin that Damian was under, synthesize an antidote, and track Crane down to his warehouse at the Docks district within a three hour time period. (Bruce offhandedly mentioned that they should start writing down the effects of different fear toxins so that they could eventually identify which was which to make antidote administration easier, knowing it’d be an insane and labor intensive task that no one would really do because they were doing just fine currently. Tim promptly created a spreadsheet, copped the cowl footage, and got to work. He learned advanced chemistry for this, promptly bringing his barely passing grade up to an A within two months.)
- Once was able to list the entirety of Haley’s Circus lineup over the years, correctly identifying which performers had been kidnapped by the Court of Owls, yet couldn’t name a single United States president before the year of 2012. (Got embarrassingly into circus performances because y’know, Dick is his hero and so he memorized the entire history of Haley’s Circus so he’d always know who/where/what Dick was talking about when he referenced his time there)
- Word for Word reciting an obscure peace treaty for an ALIEN NATION, but wasn’t able to tell Dick what the Fibonacci sequence was. (Starfire is Tamaranian and Tim assumed that she and Dick would get married one day and he didn’t want to be insensitive so he hacked into the Green Lantern files that all the Earth Lanterns update and got to work researching. Even the stuff that only tangentially mentioned the planet and people)

Damning facts about the Batfamily- Batcomputer version
Dick- Sometimes, when mad at Bruce, he just saves a ton of random photos onto the bat-computer desktop. Like hundreds of them. He will walk in and see Bruce moving all of the new files into a new folder one-by-one. Thinks it is hilarious because he doesn't understand why Bruce doesn't just highlight and move them all at once
Jason- has never used his own log-in, somehow has everyone's passwords and changes who he logs in under everytime. No one knows how he gets the passwords as they are updated weekly
Cass- her account is the administrator one. Bruce does not know.
Tim- writes his password on a sticky note under the keyboard
Stephanie- got a gamer chair for it with purple cat ears. Claimed they were bat ears and "on theme" to convince Bruce to keep it. He did
Duke- knows how Jason gets everyone's passwords, but is NOT willing to discuss
Damian- regularly changes the wallpaper to his latest pet to try and win affection to get more pets
Bruce- Gets so annoyed when Dick saves all of his files on the bat computer. Never says anything because he genuinely believes Dick doesn't know how to save files appropriately
Alfred- Unwilling to stop Dick from annoying Bruce with jpeg bombs because he also finds it hilarious

Bruce being so done with life because none of his kids treat their medical files on the batcomputer with the importance it deserves. And the worst part is, he can't tell if it's on purpose or if they're all Just Like That.
Dick:
He loves his eldest son but for some reason, he refuses to do anything but put down estimated recovery times in his injuries folder. It's usually in the range of "2 weeks" to "48 hours" but that just leaves Bruce worrying about what happened.
One time, he put down 3 months and he nearly had a heart attack till his son called and told him Kor'i had dumped him and that this was how long he was going to be wallowing.
Jason:
Is nice enough to tell him what happened but doesn't add the degree of injury.
So he'll put down "stabbed" but won't elaborate on whether it was a flesh wound or worse. Bruce goes grey very, very early after Jason is on the field.
Tim:
Gives him just the location of the injury and leaves him to guess what happened.
Could say "arm" or "back of the head" or, on one memorable occasion, "spleen", but won't say what the heck happened to any of those parts.
Was he stabbed?? Shot at?? Who knows. Certainly not Bruce.
Damian:
Only mentions the retribution he got for any injuries he received.
"It's been handled", "he'll never be able to get the drop on me again" and more often than not, just the word "avenged".
Bruce is surprised he has any of his original hair colour left at all.
Duke:
By far the worst one. He writes down injuries in terms of his own pain scale.
Could write "OW!" or "Not Gucci" or "Better than that time Jason hit me in the face with a TV remote".
Once wrote "Non-fatal" which sent Bruce into a spiral because "holy shit Duke?? What do you mean non-fatal?? Yeah I sure hope your injuries weren't lethal?!"
Cass:
Has never been injured on patrol. Often leaves him question marks in her file which...yeah, fair enough.

"HIS KNOWLEDGE IS MORE THAN EARTH-BASED, THOUGH. HE SPENT YEARS IN SELF-IMPOSED EXILE ON ANOTHER PLANET..."
PIC(S) INFO: Spotlight on Thaddeus B. Sivana, a.k.a., Captain Marvel/Shazam's greatest antagonist, from the "Justice" (2005-'07) maxi-series published by DC Comics. Artwork by Doug Braithwaite (pencils) & Alex Ross (sketch art/paints).
ORIGIN: "Thaddeus B. Sivana has fought Captain Marvel more often than any of the World's Mightiest Mortal's enemies. Just as the Joker, who mocks death and revels in the suffering and losses of others, is my antithesis, Sivana is opposite of Captain Marvel. While Captain Marvel is a being of magic, Sivana knows only the secrets of science, only what the intelligence of man can discover. He has been widowed twice, and the pain of those losses led to his becoming twisted and embittered against the very humanity he once invented and created for.
His knowledge is more than earth-based, though. He spent years in self-imposed exile on another planet, studying a race of creatures there, becoming adept in the secrets of that world. Perhaps his time there further twisted him into what he is. He has no physical power of strength, but he has developed a means to walk through walls by speaking a scientific formula of sorts.
More magic words, even if they are clothed in science. I wonder if Sivana is even aware how affected he is by forces beyond his control."

Batman keeps journals with every interaction, right? In what comics can I see this? Do you have any panels? Why does he do that? Very happy for answers :)
I know that there are issues where we specifically see Bruce filling out reports and information on interactions he’s had, but I honestly consider it such a regular thing that those panels never stood out to me enough to take note of them.
We know that Bruce does this because it’s referenced fairly often.
In JLA: Tower of Babel, we see the fallout that results from Bruce’s files being hacked.  Specifically, his files that have his plans for taking out all the major members of the Justice League.
Tumblr media
Justice League of America V4 #0
There was the “Bruce Wayne’s private files in the Batcomputer” mini-series, a set of posters printed on the back of comic issues in 2007.  These had Bruce’s personal notes on Justice Leaguers.
Tumblr media
Then there’s The Batman Files, which is literally just a transcription of Bruce’s journals.  It includes information on all of the people he meets, his personal thoughts on them, and details of their interaction.
Tumblr media
These are just a few instances.
As for why Bruce does it, it’s partly because no reasonable person can be expected to remember every minute detail of every day.  Bruce consults his own records on the Batcomputer often while working a case.
He also creates these records for those who follow him (whoever replaces Batman, which historically is Dick Grayson, though Alfred puts the files to use too.  His database is a contingency for his own death, so that his replacement doesn’t have to start under-prepared.
It’s also available for his partners (mostly Robin, though Oracle uses it too).

small little Bruce Wayne headcanon
I don't think Bruce quite has a split personality, but he is so good at compartmentalizing that he struggles between personalities and can't always "drop the act" so to say.
Batman - Focused on the mission above all else. Comes off as cold and unforgiving, but to him it is a necessity in this line of work. While in the cape and cowl, the Robins are his partners, not his sons, because he knows if he acted as a father rather than a mentor in the field, he would be throwing himself into danger, and potentially risking his kids as well. That's why when Dick was fired as Robin the second time, it came across the way it did, driving a rift between Dick and Bruce. Bruce didn't want to loose his son, but Batman couldn't handle a liability like that in the field. (Dick himself isn't a liability, but Bruce knows that if Dick died while out as Robin, the Batman facade would shatter, like what happened after Jason's death)
Brucie Wayne - The public persona is loud, lazy, and a bit dumb. No one expects much from him, which allows him to slide under the radar and remove suspicion off of him potentially being Batman. He is exactly what everyone expects of a rich socialite raised without parental supervision. Brucie also allows Bruce to "let go" sometimes and just have fun without needing to worry about anything. He doesn't need to be the strong imposing figure of Batman. He can insult people he doesn't like (who don't know about Brucie and Batman) without it making it seem like he's insulting them on purpose. I'm kinda thinking about the ending to the Secret Identity Compromised side mission in Gotham Knights. There was a strategic reason for him to strip down and grind on a statue in the Iceberg Lounge, but there also could have been a thousand other cover stories he could have come up with, yet he decided on personally pissing off the Penguin which is honestly valid.
Dad Bruce - The most "real" version of Bruce is when he's around his kids. Dad Bruce is a combination of the best parts of Batman and Brucie. He is stern and commanding, but also soft and fun. This version also tends to blur together with "eternally tired".
I like to think that these personas will occasionally accidentally blend together for some very funny moments. Things like Batman giving the disappointed "dad sigh" to the Justice League, suddenly making Hal and Barry very guilty for no reason, or Dad Bruce very confidently calling Clark's chickens "small feathered cows" and sheep "fluffy cows" before realizing his mistake but at that point he's committed.

Canon things that we should not let fall into obscurity:
• Dick was an excellent basketball player and played on the school team
• Dick plays both the guitar AND the accordion
• Jason had a pet dog when he was itty bitty. The dog's name was Sparky
• Tim is a skater. He skateboards and is pretty damn good at it, both as Tim and Robin
• Tim and Bruce both like The Clash. Alfred is Britishly Offended by their music
•Jason loved books as a kid. To support this, Bruce had a mini library built right in his bedroom
•Alfred and Bruce collected first edition books ever since Bruce was a little kid. It's implied this tradition was also carried on with Bruce and Jason
•Damian steals items from his brothers. He's stolen a helmet from Jason, escrima sticks from Dick, possibly one of Tim's bo staffs and I'm 75% sure he's stolen one of his father's cowls
•Barry Allen's real name for a time was Barrence Allen.
•Tim was a boarding school kid. He spent the first half of his life in boarding schools and didn't go to a semi normal school until he moved in with Bruce and went to Gotham Academy.
•Tim did not drop out of high school, he was kicked out because his father did not pay the Brentwood boarding school tuition (because posh boarding schools don't let you attend if you have no means of paying or aren't there on scholarship). It's unclear if Tim ever finished high school or if he just got a GED.
•Correction!: After Brentwood, Tim did go back to a local high school. Unfortunately, he had to drop out again after Bruce died and Tim went on his infamous search. (Thanks everyone who pointed this out!)
•Cass is teaching herself how to read and gets very frustrated with it, but is stubbornly pushing through. We're very proud of her
•Duke has a Nest. He has his very own base of operations and it is stellar
•Steph's father was friends with Edward Nigma. The Riddler spent some time living in Steph's house with their family. They probably had to share a bathroom. (Imagine that chaos)
•Baby Steph dressed up in a cape and Super shirt and pretended to be Superman
•There are four members of the Dead Robin club: Jason, Damian, Steph, and Dick. He was once dead for about five minutes, killed by Lex Luthor before being rescusitated. Likewise, Steph's heart stopped before Leslie was able to revive her before squirrelling her away to Africa. Cass's nomination is up in the air as she has died but was not a Robin.
•Only Tim is member of the Thought Dead But Not Really Robin club
•Dick and Steph are members of both clubs and are considering getting punch cards.
•Duke is the lucky bastard to be part of neither club. He lives in terror of the day he gets a membership
•Damian tried to kill Victor Zsasz. He really thought he succeeded. But Victor survived and no one's really sure how, and the fact that Damian did his best to kill him is never mentioned again
•Steph can speak Swahili
•Roy Harper's original vice was heroin addiction due to being undercover. In New52 it was retconned into an alcohol addiction.
•Talia. Is. A. Good. Person. And. Morrison. Fucked. Her. Over.
•For a time, it was believed that Lady Shiva was Jason's birth mother
•It is unclear if Two Face has been disbarred from practicing law or not
Update: Sorry for any mistakes I made.

An expansion on my sex positive Dick Grayson headcanon:
First off, this is a headcanon, and not fully reflective of canon events and characterizations. That being said, I am taking inspiration from canon and trying to find ways to weave my headcanons in with canon events.
I envision Dick as pansexual because of what an open and loving person he is. I don’t think gender (or race for that matter, he’s dated aliens before) is a factor for him when considering potential romantic partners. However, I don’t think he is a casual or serial dater. He is someone who is reluctant to date unless it feels like a relationship he is committed to.
As for being a sex positive icon, I am aware that he has been sexually assaulted and harassed, as well as victim blamed several times in canon and I have taken that into account. I feel like he is someone who is willing to have casual, platonic sex outside of romantic relationships, but it still has to be with someone he loves and trusts. He views sex as an intimate sharing of mutual trust, but not necessarily a declaration of romantic love. For example, he’s not going to go to a bar and bring a stranger home for the night, however I do headcanon that the Titans have all slept with each other (platonically) at least once.
My idea behind this is that I want to see more sex positivity in the world, where it isn’t a taboo topic, or something that should be shared exclusively between romantic partners. I think it is something that can be fun, or stress relieving, and Dick being such an open and loving person is a perfect candidate to project this onto.
However, being sex positive does not mean that he enjoys being sexualized. I think that because of his past experiences, he definitely has a boatload of trauma. While he enjoys sex as an act, he avoids it due to extreme paranoia that his partner is just using him or objectifying him in some way. Sex is a very intimate display of mutual trust, and having that trust violated so many times definitely causes some lasting issues.
I have so many more headcanons like this that I would love to take a deep dive in so lmk if you’d like to see any more!

Here is some of the character art I’ve done so far! I wanted the designs to stay simple enough (because my spreadsheet tells me I have 450+ characters to draw) but appear deceivingly detailed. I only have about 12 done total so it’s gonna take me a while to finish them all lol

Batfamily (and other) Headcanons that will be canon in my DC timeline:
-Dick is Pansexual. Show me this man in romantic relationships with more than just woman. I also feel like he has potential to be a sex positive icon which I feel is important. Sex portrayed as something that can be fun and casual, not explicitly reserved for romantic partners and situations.
(edited to rephrase and remove offensive language towards the pan community)
-Jason is Asexual. Get some ace representation but also give him some healthy romantic relationships where sex is not the center or a necessity. (I’m partial to Jason/Roy but to each their own)
-Jon Kent is dyslexic. Insert Percy Jackson reference about his brain being wired for kryptonian, but no, the dyslexia comes from Lois.
-Jason was absolutely theater kid before his death who managed to get the lead role almost every time, and somehow maintained a healthy schedule of theater rehearsals, good grades, and patrols.
-building off of the last one, Jason is Bruce’s favorite allowing him to get away with pretty much anything, but no one notices this because Jason is convinced Bruce hates him, and everyone else (understandably) believes Cass is the favorite.
-Cass took up gardening after watching Alfred tend to the rose bushes out front, and is now responsible for the very impressive garden on the Wayne Estate. She loves being to create and nurture life instead of kill, like the was born and raised to. Jason also taught her the language of flowers and she has little flowerbeds for each member of the family. Only Jason knows what they mean (also Alfred but he knows everything)
-Tim isn’t a caffeine addict, but he does have severe insomnia and ADHD. Because of that, caffeine typically has the opposite effect on him, hence why he always seems to be drinking a cup. Either for the placebo effect to stay up and finish a case, or to make him tired enough to fall asleep.
-Damian struggles to connect with people and express gratitude, appreciation, and love. He asked Cass about her garden one day and very intently sat and listened while she taught him about the language of flowers. Each family member woke up the next morning to a drawing of a bouquet of flowers pinned to the door with a knife (Jason has his framed in a safehouse he is fairly sure none of his family knows about)
-The batcave has a secret vault of “bad ideas” which was started by Dick as a child with the original Robin suit Bruce designed (it had pants) along with videos of Dick wearing said costume and falling off of gymnastics bars. (Think of the video explaining why strippers don’t wear clothes with the person falling off the pole over and over)
-Bruce is autistic. He gives off tism vibes (you’re trying to tell me that a man who dresses up as a bat and fights crime as a trauma response to watching his parents be murdered in front of him is neurotypical?) and I also want to see more a positive autism representation in main characters in media.
-Dick’s use of made up words such as “aster” and “whelmed” come from the fact that he spoke very little English when he was first adopted by Bruce, and decided that using obviously made up words made his slip ups less noticeable, or people would assume he did it on purpose. Even after he mastered English, he continued using his made up words because they just made sense (the batcomputer and jl database have a hidden file called the “DICKtionary” unlinking all his words and their meanings)
-Jason can’t drive. He died when he was 15 (you have to be 16 in Jersey to get your permit), was revived in Nanda Parbat so there was no need to drive, and was too embarrassed to mention it by the time he returned to Gotham and the Batfamily. This is his deepest, darkest, secret.
-As a child, Dick was convinced Batman was a vampire (and still isn’t entirely convinced otherwise)
-Tim collects little trinkets. Dick noticed this early on, and made sure to get a little souvenir trinket for Tim every time he went on a trip. Bruce noticed and started doing the same thing, and so did his friends after a while. Tim proudly displays his collection, because to him, each trinket is a reminder that people are thinking about him and care about him. (Most of his possessions in Drake Manor were necessities like clothes, or things he had bought for himself. Barely anything was a gift)
-Jason has OCPD, and needs things to be an exact certain way, and struggles when they aren’t. It’s one of the biggest reasons why he is often so frustrated with Bruce, who tends to do things in a different, certain way.
-Cass is actually the most neurotypical in the family, though because she has learned how to be a person through observing, she has picked up on many neurodivergent traits, specifically stimming.
-Steph’s aesthetic is retro pastel pop, mixed with maximalism. She loves bright colors and loud designs (though purple is still her favorite by far)
-Alfred keeps guns stashed all over the house in case of emergencies. Bruce hates this and has tried to remove them, but has given up as he can never seem to find them all. Alfred also brought up the good point of “I am not a vigilante like you, Master Bruce, and I am not quite as young as I used to be. If there is ever an invasion of the manor, I would quite enjoy the security of being able to protect myself.”
-There is a list of who is banned from the kitchen. Bruce is at the top of the list, Tim isn’t allowed to make anything more complex than instant food, Cass and Damian aren’t very good, but at least make an effort to learn so are therefore allowed with supervision. Dick has a partial ban. He is an absolute disaster in the kitchen, except for soups, and sarma (his mother’s recipe was one of the few things he brought with him from the circus and was obsessed with perfecting it as a kid, leading it to be one of the only things he can actually make) Steph isn’t allowed to cook, but she is a proficient baker. Duke isn’t a horrible cook, but mainly avoids the kitchen, preferring to stay out of Alfred’s way. Jason is the only batfamily member who is not banned from the kitchen under any circumstances. He has a tendency to stress cook, and likes trying new fancy recipes, because on the streets he only ate what he could find. This gives him a sense of control.
-Superman wasn’t a great dad to Connor at first, opting to send him to the farm to stay with Ma and Pa, but after a stern talking to from Bruce, came around started making an effort. Connor is an excellent big brother to Jon.
