self inserts are great. some people have one they use for every media and i love seeing this one specific little guy people choose to represent themselves go on fun adventures and make friends with their favorite characters and fall in love with others. some people have a different insert for every media they ship from or even for every ship they have and that's??? honestly really impressive and cool how so many different things can represent a single person. sometimes they're fantastical and magical and sometimes they're just A Guy™ in Situations™ even if it doesn't really "fit" the media they're an insert for. and some of these designs?? Had a thought about this: the reason why we have Agarthan/Nemesis/Slither stans is probably the same reason why we have fans of Almyra or a desire to make Alymra more interesting. It's a part of transformative fandom culture where people wish certain aspects of the game were explored more than what the game gave them. People wanted to see more of Almyran culture than what the game portrayed which is that they like to pillage and engage in wars. In the same way, there are people who want the Agarthans to be more interesting than being blatant Saturday morning cartoon villains who are the embodiment of the Dark Knight line "Some people just want to watch the world burn". Heck with Thales' line where he decries the Nabateans for defeating and exiling them, I can see where some people wanted to explore that angle, unfortunately ignoring how the whole thing was the Agarthans fault to begin with by starting wars, killing innocents, burning the world down and then attacking Sothis out of fear when she revealed herself.

But yeah, I can kinda get where some of that desire to make the Agarthans more interesting come from. Doesn't excuse the pro-genocide and nativist/xenophobic rhetoric though.

Yeah, I can understand wanting the comically evil mustache-twirling villains to be more complex but ultimately that leads to them making some very wild takes.
