Your throat burned as you knocked back yet another shot, willing the alcohol to soothe the ache you felt in your chest. It was almost twenty minutes past the time you and your date had agreed to meet... but he was nowhere to be seen. Disappointment flooded your mind as you sat at the bar alone, your feet throbbing in the strappy heels you were wearing and your skin itching from the tight dress you had squeezed into just for tonight. All for some sucker who hadn’t bothered to show. 
Of course he hadn’t shown. 
The weariness of dating was starting to get to you - constant swiping, talking to someone new every week and getting your hopes up, only to have them crushed again when it turned out to be another dud. What was the point in trying anymore, when time after time you were endlessly disappointed. Honestly, you should have known better than to get your hopes up but the hopeless romantic in you longed for the companionship you had always dreamed about. How much longer would you have to do this dance before you found someone who would appreciate everything you had to give?
You looked down at your phone again with a huff, checking one last time for an update. To your surprise there was an unopened notification waiting for you. 
Hey, sorry I can’t make it anymore. Can we reschedule? 
You snorted in irritation, reading over the text again. Your vision flashed red with anger as you stared down at your screen with gritted teeth. Reschedule? Yeah, as if. If this loser wasn’t going to give you the benefit of letting you know before the time of your date then there was a fat chance you would give him another go. 
With a heavy heart, you sighed and slumped against the counter, waving at the bartender to signal for another drink when you caught his eye. As he took away your glass, you unlocked your phone again and opened a text chain with your friends thinking you might as well make the most of the night since you were all dressed up. Maybe they would be willing to come out and join you now that you were here and dateless with nothing else to do. 
While you sat there at the bar, on the opposite side of the room, Shinichiro made his entrance into the establishment. He casually scanned his surroundings as he pushed open the door, a small bell jingling as it closed behind him. Groups of patrons gathered at the scattered tables and a lively hum of voices rose over the low music. As always, he set his sight towards the bar and he stopped in his tracks when his eyes caught on you. 
Shinichiro frequented this bar regularly, often stopping by after work when he needed some time to cool down. It was the case tonight and he had been looking forward to getting a drink alone with his thoughts after a long day working on a new bike ... or at least, he had been planning to drink alone. Talking to a girl hadn’t been on the agenda at all, but from the moment he saw you at the bar, perched up on your stool, all of his thoughts went out the window. In an instant, he was captured by your pretty frame, the way your brows drew together as you frowned down at your phone and he studied your image, wondering what you would look like if he could put a smile on your face. 
WIth a newfound sense of purpose, he approached the bar swiftly and deliberately, only stopping when he was at a comfortable distance next to you. His heart raced as he contemplated his next move and he lifted a hand to wave at the bartender. Now that he was in your vicinity, the heady scent of your perfume trailed towards him, sweet and inviting.
His proximity created a slight shift in the atmosphere around you and your skin prickled and your body tensed on instinct as you became aware of his presence. 
“Hey,” you heard his deep voice say. “Whiskey, neat. Thanks.”
You looked up. You saw the tall man, leaning against the counter with the sleeves of his jacket rolled up past his forearms. Dark hair fell over his face as he spoke to the bartender, his eyes scanning the lines of bottles on the shelves in front of him. From the side, you couldn’t see the details of his face but he cut a nice figure as he towered next to you.
As if sensing your gaze, Shinichiro glanced over at you and your eyes locked for a moment before you quickly looked away shyly, a heat warming your cheeks. A breath caught in your throat and your mouth ran dry as your mind took quick notice of his appearance. Yikes… he’s good looking. 
You busied yourself with looking anywhere but at him, your eyes flitting around you in a hurry, your hands flying to your chest to fiddle with the top of your dress. Luckily, you were saved from your flustering by the bartender placing a fresh shot glass in front of you at just the right moment and you reached toward it gratefully, offering him a sheepish smile.
Shinichiro followed your movements closely with a steady gaze. For some reason he couldn’t explain and before he could register what he was doing, his hand was flying out to stop you before you could take the drink, his arm moving instinctively without him prompting it to.
Your head snapped toward him, your eyes wide with surprise. His expression was carefully blank, but something bright flickered behind the dark pools of his eyes. You narrowed your own back at him, a scowl twisting your lips. 
“Let me buy you a real drink,” Shinichiro began. The words tumbled out of him, clumsy and not as smooth as he hoped. He winced inwardly. What was he saying?
You continued to glare at him only adding to the nerves he felt as he attempted a cool smirk, hoping he appeared more collected than he felt. He accepted the glass being offered to him by the bartender, grateful for the small distraction and the amber liquid swirled as he brought it toward him. His other hand remained outstretched in front of you to block your movement as he held your gaze.   
Unimpressed, you huffed out a laugh as you gave him a proper once over. You were no stranger to cheesy one liners and guys trying to pick you up when you went out. His appearance was simple - dark jacket over a white t-shirt that was stained with spots of dark ink and light wash jeans. The dim lighting of the bar casted shadows across the planes of his face and his dark eyes gleamed at you. He wasn’t exactly striking, but he was handsome in a way that tugged at your chest and interest stirred in you, your body ever the traitor. 
“Does that normally work for you?” You asked coolly, your eyebrows raised in a disbelieving look.
Although you had tried to play it off, your survey of him hadn’t gone unnoticed by him and he smirked around his glass as he took a sip of his drink. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.” 
“Mmhmm.” In a swift motion, you swept your glass around his hand and lifted it to your lips, downing the liquid. You welcomed the burn, letting it warm the ice in your heart. 
He chuckled and took a seat on the stool next to you. Of course you wouldn’t be so easy. It was a good thing he always liked a challenge - if there was one thing he excelled at, it was going for what he wanted and never backing down.
You ignored his presence, turning away from him and scrolling on your phone again. Unluckily for you, all of your friends had replied to you with their apologies, already busy with their own plans. You sighed, resigning yourself to the fact that you would have to admit defeat and head home for the night empty handed. 
Shinichiro shifted in his seat next to you, clearing his throat lightly. His fingers tapped on the counter less than a foot from where your elbows pressed into the smooth surface. You peered in your peripheral vision at him and watched as his finger traced around the ring of condensation left on the surface by his glass. He nursed his drink slowly and stared blankly into the distance with an expression that was hard to read. Laughter swirled around you as the two of you sat solemnly, lost in your own thoughts.
“Long day?” You asked finally to break the silence. Curiosity would always get the better of you. 
Shinichiro’s head snapped toward you in surprise. While you had been mourning your lack of social life, he had been trying to think of what he could say next to get your attention. The last thing he had predicted was that you would initiate the conversation yourself.  
“It wasn’t too bad,” he replied. “You look like you’ve had better though.” 
You shrugged and tried to keep your expression in check. A short laugh huffed out of you in an attempt to mask your bitter words. “Yeah. I was supposed to be on a date. He stood me up though.” 
“Someone stood you up? Why would they ever do that?”
“I don’t know. Whatever. It doesn’t matter.” 
He cocked his head to the side, appraising you up and down carefully. His eyes lingered on your bare thighs and your chest and his body subconsciously responded to the sight, his heart skipping a beat or two and his dick twitching in his pants. You were pretty, beautiful even, and he was only a man. 
“I would never leave you hanging. A girl like you? He must have been a schlub.”

His candour surprised you. His dark eyes bore into yours, earnest and a little shameless. He didn’t appear to care much about the way he came off to you and it made you want to lower your guards just a little.
“I’m Shinichiro,” he said, holding out his hand. His fingers were dirty, discoloured by the same dark smudges that painted his clothes. He noticed you staring and pulled back his hand, wiping it against his shirt. “Sorry, I just finished work. I promise I washed my hands, it’s just this stuff is hard to get off.” A flush graced his cheeks as his eyes darted to your face and away in embarrassment. “I own a motor shop and I’ve been fixing up a bike all day.” 
“Oh,” you hummed. You introduced yourself, telling him your name as you held out your hand. You were no stranger to getting your hands dirty yourself and you were polite, if nothing else. His eyes softened and after a slight pause he leaned forward to take it, squeezing it hard. Calluses lined his palms and your skin tingled from the roughness as you shook his hand. 
“So, Shinichiro… I told you my story. You tell me yours. What brings you here on this fine night?” 
He grinned at you, taking a sip of his drink. “Well, like I said. I just got off work. I come here to wind down sometimes, get a drink.” 
“On your own?” 
“My friends can get a bit rowdy. Sometimes I enjoy the peace and quiet of being alone.” 
You shifted in your seat, uncrossing then recrossing your legs. Your fingers played with the hem of your dress and pulled it down when it rode up your thigh as you changed positions. It was hard to miss the way his breath hitched and his eyes flickered as he followed your movements. “Do you want me to leave you alone then?”
Shinichiro shook his head, breaking out of his trance. “No, I think you’re cool. I want to get to know you more.” 
You laughed, the sound bubbling out of you and into his heart. “If I didn’t know any better I would think you’re hitting on me.” 
“Is it working?” His eyes twinkled with humour. He couldn’t help but feel hopeful and he tried to ignore the excitement building inside him, twisting his stomach with nerves.
“Maybe… You’ll have to wait and see.” 
He gestured toward your empty shot glass. “Do you want another?”
You considered it for a moment, letting yourself indulge in the possibility before you shook your head regretfully, heaving out a sigh. As nice as it was to talk to him, the disappointment of your date being a no show had already ruined your night. Had you been in a better mood, you would have loved to continue flirting with him. 
“No, I think I’ll go home. I might as well get changed into something comfortable and drown my sorrows in my own bed.” 
His heart sank a little at your words, disappointment creeping in. He had only just got here and you were already ready to go, right when he felt like he was getting somewhere. Unwilling to let you go too easily, he tried his hand at another play. “How are you getting home?” 
“I was going to call an uber.”
“Don’t waste your money. Let me take you home. My bike is parked out front, you can sit on the back.” 
You snorted, shaking your head. “Haven’t you been drinking? It’s fine, don’t worry about me.” 
“I’ve only had one,” he tried to reassure you, gesturing to his glass. “I’m fine, it takes more than a couple drinks for me to feel anything. I wouldn’t offer if I didn’t feel up for it.” 
Maybe it was because you were a little tipsy but part of you wanted to say yes. He offered a hesitant smile as he looked down at you with an earnest expression and his invitation tempted you just a little. Thankfully to your benefit though, you had enough presence of mind to know better. He was just a stranger after all. A cute one, but a stranger nonetheless.
“I’m okay. Thanks for the offer, I appreciate it.” 
Shinichiro nodded, accepting your refusal with a heavy heart. It made sense; he couldn’t blame you really. If you were Emma, he would have expected her to do the same thing. Still, it didn’t make it sting any less as he nodded, lifting his glass toward you in acknowledgement as you gathered your things and turned to leave. 
Unable to contain himself, he chanced another look at you as you walked away. His eyes tracked the way you slinked away on your heels, your hips swaying with every step. As you opened the door and stepped outside, he turned back to the bar and heaved out a sigh.  
The bartender caught his eye with raised eyebrows and Shinichiro reluctantly pushed his glass forward to accept another drink. An uneasy feeling crept over him as he sat there, trying to process his encounter with you and dread flooded to form a pit in his stomach and his heart sank impossibly further when he realised he had made a dire mistake. 
Idiot. He had forgotten to ask you for your number.

It had been two weeks since Shinichiro had met you. Two weeks, since he had last seen you. 
He had tried not to think about it too much. He knew it was silly of him to get so bothered by it. You were just a stranger really, you had barely shared more than a few minutes together... but there was just something about you that he couldn’t forget. Everyday, when he had a spare moment, he would flashback to his conversation with you and regret every decision he had ever made. He had kicked himself enough over the past few days for not getting your number or not insisting to buy you another drink. 
When he walked into the bar again on another Friday night, he wasn’t expecting to see you there at the counter. And yet there you were, in another short dress, the hem riding up your thighs, perched up on your stool. His brain short circuited slightly as he looked you up and down, his breath catching in his throat. As if in a trance, he began moving toward you like a moth would to a flame, weaving his way past tables until the bar came into full view.
All of a sudden he was stuttering to a stop in his tracks. Blood roared in his ears and his vision tunnelled as he took in the reality of the situation in front of him. You were here, yes, but not alone this time, instead clearly talking with a man next to you. Shinichiro watched with dread in his heart as you tipped your head back at something your companion said, your shoulders shaking with laughter as the man smiled smugly, his eyes raking over your body. Jealousy coursed through his veins at the sight. What could possibly be so funny? 
Shinichiro approached the bar slowly. His legs felt heavy with lead as the distance between the two of you lessened little by little. Part of him wanted to leave immediately, but another just wanted to see if you would acknowledge him if he stood within your reach. Would you even remember him? 
When he finally finished crossing the floor, he leaned against the counter behind you with his eyes fixed in front of him. He didn’t dare to spare you a glance.
Your body was stiff with irritation as you sat there on your stool. Your face ached from holding the smile on your face as laughter came out of you in forced bursts. To your right, your date sat facing you with a broad smile, completely oblivious to the discomfort you felt. You were decidedly not having a good time.
Despite your recent disappointment, you had tried to bounce back and had come out tonight on yet another date with yet another guy. Alas, it was to no avail. Although it had only been half an hour, you already knew it was going nowhere - there was no chemistry, his photos were definitely outdated and honestly the way he was looking at you gave you the creeps. Great, another dud. All throughout the date, your thoughts had kept drifting back to the last time you had been here and Shinichiro’s face flashed in your mind. If only your date had been someone like him. 
As you shifted in your seat to reach for your drink, you became aware of a person standing to your side. You turned to look over your shoulder and gasped as surprise overcame you when you saw who it was. The man was busy looking down at something on his phone and hadn't seemed to have noticed you next to him but you recognised the handsome face instantly. Speak of the devil, you thought to yourself. Without a second to waste, you pounced on the opportunity to ditch your date.
“Shinichiro!” 
For Shinichiro, the sound of his name coming from your voice was completely unexpected. He jolted in shock as he turned toward you with wide eyes. You were grinning broadly at him, your eyes sparkling in delight and warmth filled his body as a natural response. He was an honest man. He couldn't deny that the sight of your face did numbers on his heart.  
“Oh, hey!” He said, trying to recover, a smile playing on his lips. "Fancy seeing you here!" He glanced curiously over at the stranger next to you who in turn scowled back at him. 
“Shinichiro’s a good friend,” you said enthusiastically as you turned back to your date. “I haven’t seen him in a while. Is it okay if he joins us?” 
Your date frowned, his face twisting in distaste. If you had any feelings toward him you would have felt bad for the clear confusion you were causing him. “You want him to join our date?” 
“Yeah. We’re just hanging out anyway.”
He scoffed. “Hanging out? Are you serious? I didn’t come all this way and buy you a drink just to hang out.” 
Despite it probably being warranted, his attitude was not appreciated. You glared at the man, your eyes cold enough to turn him to ice. “Well, I want to talk to him. If you don’t like it you can leave.” 
“Is this for real?” The man looked at Shinichiro who shrugged, unable to contain the cheshire cat grin that stretched his lips. 
Your date huffed, grumbling to himself as his eyes flicked back and forth between you and Shinichiro. His cheeks reddened with frustration and his lips quivered in anger as he stood in a hurry and gathered his things. “You know what? Fuck this,” he snapped. “I’m gonna go. What a waste of time” 
You lifted your hand in a wave, smiling sweetly, his reaction not bothering you in the slightest. “Bye!” You called after him as he stomped away. 
Shinichiro waited for the man to leave, before taking his place next to you. Your eyes locked in a shared moment as you processed the turn of events and in an instant the two of you were bursting into laughter, your shoulders shaking as giggles tumbled out of you. 
“I was trying to find an excuse to get rid of him,” you sputtered, trying to contain your laughter. “Seems the universe sent you to me at just the right time.”
Shinichiro admired the way your face lit up in unabashed joy, the corners of your eyes crinkling as your mouth stretched wide in the prettiest smile he had ever seen. “The universe does work in interesting ways,” he snickered in response. For example, he thought to himself, the fact that he had been hoping to see you again and here you were in front of him, the second chance he had been praying for. 
You continued to smile up at him sweetly, looking up through your eyelashes as humour danced behind your eyes. Truthfully, you had been hoping to see him here too.
“So, are you going to buy me a drink, Shinichiro?” 
He raised an eyebrow, a smirk playing on his lips. “Are you going to let me?” 
You crossed your arms in front of you. He tried not to pay attention to the way it brought his focus to your chest. You nodded toward your empty glass, a clear message in your gaze, and he leaned over the counter, waving at the bartender to get his attention. He pointed to your glass. 
“Can I get another one of whatever she had … and a beer for me, please.” 
You hummed in thought, cocking your head to the side. “Just a beer today? I remember you had something a bit stronger last time.” 
He grinned, pleased to know you had been paying attention. 
“I want to make sure I’m sober enough to take you home tonight.” 
He held his breath as he watched your reaction. You blinked at him in surprise, although there was no reason you should have been. He was sure he had been clear enough in his intentions the last time you had met. A flush warmed your cheeks as you tried to keep your composure but a small smile tugged at the corner of your lips. Shinichiro grinned in satisfaction. Gotcha. 
Time passed quickly as the two of you conversed. The banter came easily, laughter flowing freely. You were funny, he realised, more than he thought … and beautiful, exactly his type. Multiple times throughout the night, he'd had to pause to remind himself to keep it together, lest he fall too hard too fast. You had only really just met and it was proving difficult to reign it in when you were hitting it off so smoothly like this. 
An hour later, you were still nursing the drink he had bought you, twisting it around in your hands as you smiled warmly at him. A small part of him hoped it was because you wanted to prolong the conversation for as long as possible. He would buy you another this time, if it meant you would stay to talk to him. The grip you had wrapped around his heart tightened as you gazed up at him through your eyelashes, your eyes twinkling in the low light.
“So when are you going to take me home, Shinichiro?” 
Your sweet voice tugged at his chest, your words catching him off guard. Your hand fell down to rest on his forearm and squeezed tight. Your playful look told him a clear message, and he received it wholeheartedly, instantly becoming putty in your hands.
“How about now?” He offered, holding out his hand. 
You giggled in response as you took it, clutching it tight.

The ride to your place went by in a blur. His head was a mess as his bike rumbled beneath him, the engine roaring as he zipped down the road with you sitting behind him. Anyway,  you didn't want to believe the rumour but it was so hard when during that week jungkook was acting off. He never hangout with your brother or even responded to any one of your calls. You didn't want to bug so you left it. But the question ate at you every time, especially when you were worried about jungkook.  And shortly during that week jungkook had went out of town and when he returned he told your brother that he went to his parent's place. Seems like it was a good move cause he came back to his normal self, laughing and joking with you.

Jungkook tilts the spoon wanting you to take everything. He's such a liar. When you realise what he's doing you start to hum for him to stop, but he doesn't, it amuses him actually. You turn your head away and in your struggle you cause some marmalade to fall off the spoon and into your open chest. You whine jungkook's name as you look at the drop of jam on your chest.
"Look at what you've done y/n" he says in a lecturing tone. Your eyes widen as you see him bend to your chest , his hands on both sides of you holding the counter.
"W-what are you doing?" You know what he's doing, and it makes your chest rise up and down at a quick rate. And now that he's by your chest you're sure he can see it.
"I'm cleaning your mess" he says and the way his eyes watch yours from under you makes you push your body close to him. He sinks in lower his breath now on your chest. His sleek tongue meets your skin licking the jam right off you, you lean your head back giving jungkook more room to roam.
"Sweet" he mumbles against your skin as he moves up to place a wet kiss on your neck.
"So how does it taste" he asks moving back to watch your flushed face. You even forgot about the taste of the marmalade, only remembering how jungkook felt against your skin.
"Uhh" you search your brain to see if it remembers what the marmalade tastes like. And after a hard fight to get through the thoughts of jungkook you remember.
"Not bad. Seeing that you made it yourself" he watches your face as you speak, finding joy in the way you say things.
"But i still don't like it " jungkook moves away from you, and you can physically feel the feeling of his loss of presence from you. You watch him as he takes back the jar.
"You will one day"
You roll your eyes at that.  Nothing can make you like marmalade.
You and jungkook talk about somethings, nothing to deep. Just some Harry Potter stuff. You go back and forth arguing about some situations in the movies and you laugh at the opinions he has and he scoffs at some of yours.  You never knew jungkook liked Harry Potter nor did he know you liked it too.
"I could've had voldemort on his knees in he first movie" you roll your eyes
"Oh please. You wouldn't survive."
"Have you even these?" He proceeds to flex his biceps for you and you burst out laughing showing him your pretty smile. Has he ever told you,you have a pretty smile. He joins you in your fit of laughter.
As you calm down from your laughter and have nothing else to laugh about or say, your mind begins to wonder why jungkook brought you here. You know why he brought you here but you don't know why he's taking so long with it, you thought licking marmalade off your bare chest was a perfect opening but he didn't use it. Most of the time it doesn't take long before both of you are at eachother. But today he's taken so much time that you've even gotten the time to talk about your personal hobbies, likes and dislikes. Which you haven't done before.
But you have enjoyed just talking with jungkook. Getting to know somethings you didn't before like he can make and likes marmalade or that he also likes Harry Potter.  Its nice to just talk like this. But you want to know why he brought you here still. Does he just wanna chat?
"Anywany why did you bring me over " a little straight forward but you want to know.  You don't wanna put your mind or any other vital organ in the wrong places.
"To hang out of course" he doesn't convince you and you keep a raised brow at him while he smiles suspiciously at you.
Hangout you did do. If you're talking about lips then yes you guys did hangout. You knew he didn't bring you here for fun and you're kinda happy that he got on with it immediately after you asked why he brought you to his home. You missed his touch, soft sweet touches like his marmalade.
And afterwards you left just like every other night. But tonight your thoughts are filled with wondering what other things jungkook might like.

You were chilling in the living room when jungkook came over to visit your brother.  He tried to kick you out of the living but you refused.
"You found me here" you say. Your brother, kept  bickering with you but you stood your ground. You notice jungkook chuckle at your bickering.
"It's fine maybe she's watching a good movie " jungkook says pointing to the movie you're watching and stopping your pointless arguing.  Your brother sighs giving in, why didn't he just do that instead of arguing with you.
"Brought these" he hands you a bag and your brother a bag.
"What's this?" Your   brother asks.
"Just some snacks"
"Thanks bro"
You can hear them talk in the background as you open the bag jungkook gave to you. Immediately you open it the citrus smell hits your senses and you scoff. You reach into the bag and pull out a sandwich in a clear zip lock bag. You analyse the substance in-between the bread.
Scoff.
You roll your eyes at jk and find him looking at you,  winking when your eyes meet. You roll your eyes and scoff placing the bag onto your side. He really thinks you're gonna eat it, or make you like it. Instead you take the drink that was in the bag and take a sip of that instead.
You don't pay much attention to your brother and jungkook's conversation, your eyes focused on the screen. But your casually steal glances of jungkook hoping he doesn't notice.
Your attention is caught when you hear your brother mention a girls name. Seems like he's talking about a girl he has his eyes on. They keep talking about it for some time until you hear your brother say.
"What's the name of the girl you're fucking?"
The air in your lungs is swept out when your brother asks that question.  Is he talking about you? If he was he wouldn't look this chilled about it.  But you still feel kinda anxious cause what if jungkook says your name. So you look at him but he's eyes aren't on you but you feel like that grin on his face is directed to you.
"Yuji" your brother exclaims remembering the name. Jungkook turns to look at you with that smirk and watches how your face relaxes. He chuckles at that and turns back to your brother.
"Yeah that's her name"
"How is she"
"She's okay I guess. It's not like we're dating for me to care" jungkook leans back onto the couch.
"You and your fuckboy ways"
"Don't say it like that" jungkook chuckles "I'm not a fuck boy.  I just don't commit"
Your brother gives a whatever-you-say hum. You start to feel a little awkward and weird in the room. You know jungkook doesn't commit but being reminded of it causes a pinch in your chest. You know better than to think anything more of what you and jungkook do. But it still kind of affects you.
"You can keep your badboy persona as long as you leave my sister out of it" you roll your eyes, why does he treat you like a child. It's so irritating.
"Don't worry..." jungkook turns to look at you, gaze filled with nothing but mischief.
"I'd never fuck or date your sister"

"You're bad for not eating my sandwich."
Jungkook speaks through your speaker. His voice low and you know he's laid back on his bed shirtless while a movie plays in the background.  You know cause onetime on a video call he was in that same position,  very distracting position.
"But you knew I wouldn't eat it" you say playing with the strings of your pajama shorts.
"Yes but I had hope you never hated me enough to not eat it"
You can hear him shuffle against his sheets. You chuckle
"You put your hope in the wrong places jeon"
As simple as your words are and unbeknownst to you, those words find a way to jungkook's heart.
You were right he did put his hope in the wrong places,  he did it so many times and foolishly that he swore to himself he'd  ever place his hope anywhere again.
"Gone silent?" he didn't even realise that until you spoke.
"Fuck no.."
"You just talk a lot. Was hoping you'd shut up"
You laugh cause you know he's just joking with you.
"I'll never shut up"
"If I was there you would " you can hear his cheeky and playful tone. If he was here you'd definitely shut up, even from across the phone jungkook's words always seem to find you and cause a swarm of butterflies to swarm in your stomach.
"Fuck off: you manage to say trying to hide the excitement caused by his words.
"Wanna come over"  and the butterflies are buzzing at this point. You wanna say yes but you remember his statement earlier and you take this time to tease him.
"After you told my brother you'd never fuck his sister "
Jungkook's low and deep chuckle follows after and you feel the ripples it causes in you.
"What can I say...I'm a good liar"
"How do you think I'm able to keep our little secret?"
You roll your eyes at his cheeky and proud tone. He's so full of himself.
"I'll be there soon" you hear Jungkook hum before you cut the call and prepare an excuse like; I'm going to one of my friend's house. You don't even need to tell your brother where you're going but you do it just so he knows you're okay.

Thay phrase has been playing on your mind quite often lately,  you don't even understand why. Would jungkook really never date, did he say that seriously or was he saying that just for your brother. You know jungkook doesn't date but if he did, Would he date you? That's all you wanna know it's not like you care but you just want to know if you're date-able in jungkook's eyes. That's all you wanna know. That all.
"So you won't eat my marmalade sandwich but you'll eat that " you hear a voice speak and you don't even have to turn to know who it's for. Instead you turn your eyes to what you assume the voice is talking about. A chocolate donut.
"Just tastes professionally made" you say finally turning to the man standing by the table. He's in black sweats and a black hoodie. He always looks so good in that hoodie.
"These hands are professional babe... and you should know that"
You scoff at that and wonder what he's doing here.  Since when does jungkook come to the café on a weekday.
"Maybe my marmalade isn't good?" he pouts. You know he's sad look is just a facade, jungkook never gets emotional around you and you're not sure how you'd handle it cause jungkook always seems like an emotionally well put together person and you admire that. He doesn't let things get to him or atleast he doesn't show it.
"Your marmalade isn't bad. I told you I just don't like marmalade" you take a sip of your coffee as jungkook watches you intently. His mind slips into a thought and he smirks at it before speaking.
"Why don't I show you how to make it and maybe you'd like it after" he straightens his figure making him appear even taller than he did before. Why is he so head in about making you like marmalade.
"At my place tonight" he says winking at you causing to smile.you wonder if he genuinely wants to teach you or its just an excuse to do your little shenanigans. You're still thinking about what he's just said and before you respond you're interrupted by a soft feminine voice calling out jungkook's name. He turns his to eyes the girl who latches herself onto jungkook's arm.
She smiles up at him and he smiles back at her.
"Okay maybe not tonight...but I'll text you when"
The smile you had on your face had been wiped off at this point. You didn't notice but you were glaring at the girl, if looks could kill she'd be dead. You're not sure what emotion is triggered in you but you know its not anything friendly. You were excited about the idea of going to jungkook's tonight and you were gonna tell him yes, after playing hard to get a bit. But this long haired mini skirt wearing chick has ruined it. Looking at her description, she must be yuri. Doesn't make anything better.
You hadn't responded to jungkook and the nudge on your shoulder reminds you to do so. You nod not saying anything, afraid that if you opened your mouth you'd spew profanities at her, so instead you just nod finally moving your burning gaze off of her. She hasn't noticed your look cause her eyes are either glued to her phone or to jungkook.  She can't even bother to introduce herself. BRAT .
"OKAY see ya marmalade girl " he says walking away with the girl arm in arm with the food they just ordered.
You scoff. And after you do that you catch yourself. Why does it bother you so much, you don't care you shouldn't care. It just makes you a little mad,  just a little.  But you shouldn't feel this way, it doesn't matter whatever you feel, jungkook is never gonna change his ways and you should get used to that if you're gonna keep fucking jungkook.
Sigh.
You wish you hadn't said yes. Maybe it would've been better if your brother found out than you having to feel these unknown and unspoken emotions. Which are one-sided.

You've been unconsciously and unwilling waiting for the text jungkook promised to send you. Well he didn't promise but it did feel like one.  He doesn't even need to call you over, it's okay if he's changed his mind. That's what you've been telling yourself.
Your heart has been on the edge this week, especially when you hear that little notification sound. But after two weeks, felt like forever, he finally seemed to remember his promise and texted you.
"Wash your hands" he says to you. "I don't know what you've been touching" you roll your eyes at him and glare at him. You should be the one telling him that. Seeing that you've been hearing  about him and yuri together.  You don't even mean to indulge yourself in rumours but you can't help it when you hear jungkook's name especially if it's side by side with a girl's name. Cause you might never know one day that girl's name might be yours and that's a day you dread. Even the thought causes your heart to physically ache.
Jungkook hands you an apron and you admire the little orange whirly pattern on it. Its so cute. Kinda reminds you of what a grandma would have in their kitchen.  You'd never pin jungkook as the type of person who would care about having to wear an apron whilst in the kitchen,  but by the look of things he looks like he takes it very seriously.
"Careful we don't want a bloody marmalade" he says noticing the way your hand slipped when cutting the orange.  You really hoped he didn't notice but he did. You aren't usually the nervous kind in the kitchen in most situations you're usually what jungkook is right now in the kitchen, the teacher. But you do feel nervous under jungkook's gaze currently,  that's what's making you so clumsy. He watches you so closely and you feel kinda suffocated by his presence even though he isn't standing so close to you. He doesn't need to be close to you to make you feel small and vulnerable under him.
"Why do you even like MARMALADE so much" its more of a rhetorical question to tease him for his interest in Marmalade so much.
"I don't know" he starts.
"It's just got a taste I can't find anywhere else" he whispers into your ear, you didn't even notice that he moved his lips to your ear, the waves of his sudden tone sending electric waves to your core. The way he says it so calm and sure almost like he's speaking to you but you know he's just talking about Marmalade.
You muster up the courage to only hum not knowing what might leave your mouth if you opened it. Maybe a plea for jungkook to just bend you over right here over his counter.
"Now that that you're done we can start" you didn't even realise you had finished,  you're pretty sure jungkook watched you peel air for some time before deciding that he was amused enough by your lost look. He can tell what you're thinking, he knows when you get like that. And he loved watching your mind get lost in thoughts cause of him. He loved how your pupils would distance and you'd bite your lower lip thinking about him, he knew you were thinking about him. But he'd never dare tell you he knows cause he's afraid you'd might get shy and stop doing it, he knows you get shy sometimes and he likes it especially when it's him you get really shy for.
But he thinks you're so cute when you get shy cause of him.
Has he ever told you that?
It wasn't long after jungkook set the jam to boil that he had you bent over the counter pounding into you mercilessly. He couldn't hold in the burning feeling inside his lower belly anymore, with the way that shirt is hugging your breasts and the way he's been wondering if you're wearing his favourite panties inside those sweats of yours. "Did you know jungkook makes marmalade?" You say chuckling remembering your reaction to when you first found out.
"I did " he says not sounding as enthusiastic or excited like you, then you realise you probably shouldn't be so excited about anything to do with jungkook in front of your brother.
"I'd never say this to his face but even though I don't like it, I think it tastes quite good." You shrug in your own thoughts.
He watches you like a detective trying to decipher your facial expression. He doesn't think much of it only wondering why you're getting marmalade from jungkook or how you even got to find out that he makes marmalade.
"Are you hanging out with jk now?" The question comes out sharp and brutal and it snaps you out of your thoughts,  you turn to your brother who has his hands folded in suspicion.
"He just gave me some marmalade. What's the big deal?" You shrug it off hoping he doesn't pry. Did you fuck this up for you and jungkook.
"Don't get too close to him. He might be my friend but he will fuck you over if you get too comfortable" you know he's saying this cause he just cares about you and is trying to protect you. But he doesn't need to protect you from jungkook, you don't think jungkook would fuck you over like that. He might not be the most affectionate or open but you doubt he'd ever fuck you over. He's not like the other fuck boys you know, he's not even a fuck boy in your opinion.
But you do understand where your brother is coming from.
"I'm not even talking to him in that way. I don't even talk to him" your face grows sadder cause your brother is right, you can't put all your trust into jungkook, like you did the others, he might end up fucking you over too.
"That's how it starts. Plus he's my friend not yours" he says coldly as he walks out, his words prick at your heart and you're reminded of your place.
You never actually thought you and jungkook would come this far with your fucking around,  you thought it'd be a one time thing but it ended up not being that.
Do you regret it? No.
You just hate how the after effects feel, the realisation and the effort you have to put in to hide it from your brother. It's been such a burden on you lately on your heart causing you to feel things you can't explain. You just wish jungkook wasn't your Brother's friend. In another universe maybe. 
That night while having your nightly thoughts you got a text from jungkook.
[Jk] have you tried it yet?
You were glad that he was the one to text you in that moment especially with the way you're feeling, it's like he knows. But that's what you think he probably doesn't know and is texting you oblivious to your racing mind that always seemed to be calmed down by his presence even though he was the reason why your mind has been going crazy nowadays.
[You] Not yet.
you text back as soon as you can.
[Jk] why not?
[Jk] are you waiting to try it together?😏
And there goes the blush on your cheeks and the butterflies in your stomach.
[You] That doesn't sound like a bad idea.
you hope you sound confident through this text cause you aren't feeling quite like it while sending it.
[Jk] should we the next time we hang out?
Hang out? He honestly shouldn't even call it a hangout cause you do anything but hangout. Maybe he should call it a pending fuck session.
[You] sure that will be great.
you hope you don't sound desperate.
[You] and can you send me a written recipe
you've wanted him to send you one for some time you don't even know why cause you aren't even interested in Marmalade.

You can hear his mocking tone from behind that text and you scoff sending him the rolling eyes emoji.

You feel the conversation turn a little emotional.
[You] just in case I wanna practice making it and you aren't around.
That's bullshit and you know it, you never plan on making marmalade you just said that cause you don't have an excuse for that message you sent. Its like marmalade is the only way you'll ever get to know more about jungkook and so you're gonna use it. You should honestly take heed of the warnings your brother gave you.
Don't get too comfortable.
Honestly you shouldn't why the fuck do you even want to know more about jungkook. You should honestly just stick to fucking and calling it a night its always been better that way.  You're not sure what other problems might arise from trying to get to know jungkook.

Modern Aemond x Reader, Modern Aegon (platonic) x Reader
Summary: You have a predicament. In desperation, you turn to your brother-in-law, Aegon. Hilarity ensues.

Going back to King's Landing for Christmas was always an event.
Your mother in law, Alicent, and your sister in law, Rhaenyra, went all out with Christmas; there was always tons of food, lots of games, and, thanks to Aegon, usually a lot of alcohol.
You and Aemond had eloped six months ago, much to the family's chagrin, but you had never been one for big weddings, and because you didn't have a good relationship with your family, you had never wanted a big wedding in the first place. You and Aemond had decided to go to Colorado and elope in the Rockies, and despite his families protests (for some reason, all of them love weddings), they welcomed you with open arms.
The first few days of your trip, however, something was just off. You woke up with a pounding headache, completely nauseous. That first morning, sleeping in Aemond's childhood bedroom, you gasped in pain as he tried to grab your breast from behind you. Then, the most damning suspicion of all came when the two of you went down for breakfast, and the smell of Alicent and Helaena's cinnamon rolls (your favorite thing in the world), made you sick enough that you ran to the powder room and violently got sick.
Then, you mentally calculated the last period you had.
No. Oh, no.
You had to be discreet about this. Aemond was a fantastic husband, but neither of you had talked about pregnancy much. Sure, you knew you wanted kids eventually, but you two were newlyweds.
You slipped out of the bathroom, thinking you'd managed to compose yourself, until Aegon came up behind you.
"How much egg nog did you drink? You can't possibly be hungover are you?"
You froze. He'd heard you. He'd heard that undignified display. You mentally cursed.
"Aegon, I need you to do something for me, but you have to promise me, like really promise, that you won't tell anyone." You pleaded.
He grinned before looking at you more seriously. "Wait, you aren't kidding."
"No, Aegon, I'm not. Keep your voice down." You whispered. You grabbed Aegon and drug him into Viserys' office.
You sighed. "I need you to take me to the store."
"Why? Why can't I tell anyone?" Aegon asked.
"Because, I don't need anyone to know... Even though I'm pretty sure I know the answer." You replied.
"The answer to what?" Aegon was curious now, you could see it.
"I think I'm pregnant." You said, pinching the bridge of your nose.
Aegon's eyes widened, his mouth agape in surprise.
"And you thought I would be the best person to come to?" Aegon asked.
"No, but you heard that whole display and I don't need too many people asking questions unless I'm sure." You replied.
"Fair enough, that tracks. Go get your coat, I'll come up with some weird excuse." Aegon said.
You managed to get your coat and sneak out the front door, since everyone was in the kitchen. You sent a quick text to Aemond telling him that Aegon had wanted to go get more alcohol to play a drinking game that night, and he needed an extra hand. You hoped that he'd buy it, since it wasn't out of the ordinary for you to be drug along on whatever weird side quest Aegon had. The ride to the store was mostly silent, until Aegon turned and asked.
"So, you know you can't prevent this kind of thing, right?"
"Yes, Aegon! I know!" You huffed.
"Well, how did it happen?" He asked.
"I don't know. If I can guess, probably that vacation Aemond and I took to New Orleans. The time frame fits, and I forgot my birth control, and we both got so drunk..." You trailed off.
Aegon burst out laughing. "Aemond got drunk? Like, actually drunk?"
"We both did." You said.
"And you forgot to take your birth control?" Aegon asked.
"I thought I'd be fine!" You exclaimed.
"And he didn't bother to pull out?" You hated when Aegon made sense.
"WE WERE DRUNK!" You said, throwing your hands in the air.
Aegon was laughing hysterically. "I don't know whether to laugh hysterically at this whole blunder, or be excited."
"We messed up." You said.
"Or, counterpoint, you have a cool vacation souvenir." Aegon replied.

Upon going to the store, you grabbed three different pregnancy test boxes. You had to be sure, and Aegon could not stifle his laugh as you demanded he sneak you around to the guest house in the back of the main house when you arrived back to your in-laws' home. You went into the bathroom, following the directions, and laid four tests out on the counter, pacing back and forth.
"The pacing isn't going to change your result." Aegon said, leaning against the door frame.
"I know, but I'm nervous. What if Aemond isn't happy about it?" You asked.
Aegon sighed, and in a rare moment of seriousness, grabbed your shoulders.
"Y/N, whatever happens, my brother loves you. And you love him. And this crazy family you married into... We're going to support you. Aemond has wanted a family since he was a little kid. He's gonna be thrilled." He said.
You hugged him, taking a deep breath.
"I'm too nervous. Please read them for me." You said, shaking hands.
Aegon nodded, taking the first test, flipping it over. Then the other three.
You closed your eyes. "Well?"
"Those are the most positive pregnancy tests I've ever seen." Aegon said, "You're definitely pregnant."
You let out a breath you didn't realize you were holding, until a voice stopped you in your tracks.
"You're pregnant?"
You and Aegon both turned to see Luke standing there, mouth agape.
"What are you doing here?" You asked.
"Mom sent me in here to go grab her sweater." Luke said.
"Luke, you cannot tell anyone yet." You said grabbing him by the arms.
"Are you kidding me? I can't keep a secret like that! You know one look from Aemond and I'm done. I can't lie!" He exclaimed.
"Luke, as your uncle, I'm telling you right now, if you tell Aemond, I will hang you upside down from the balcony." Aegon said.
"I'll try. I can't promise, but I'll try, okay?" Luke said.
You sighed. "At least, until tonight. Can you make it till then?"
You looked at the boy's face and knew he probably couldn't. Luke was nearly incapable of lying and it was actually quite funny in most circumstances.
Except, right now.
You threw the pregnancy tests in the trash, hoping to hide them. The three of you walked out, hoping you could keep the secret.

Turns out, keeping the secret was way, way harder than you thought.
Every time you walked into the kitchen, you felt bile rise in your throat. The charcuterie board that Rhaenyra laid out every year made you nearly turn green. The smell of the refrigerator was almost too much.
And every single moment you got alone with Aemond, you had to pretend like it didn't hurt when he stuck a hand under your shirt.
"Are you alright?" Aemond asked, "you seem really preoccupied."
"I'm fine, I promise." You lied.
You had to pretend like the movements Aemond made during the afternoon quickie in his childhood bathroom didn't make you sick, like the smell of his cologne (one you loved) didn't turn your stomach.
Poor Luke had scrambled to the basement with Joffrey and the younger kids, hoping that he could keep a lid on the secret until you gave the okay. The poor kid was avoiding Aemond at every turn.

At dinner, all hell broke loose.
Everyone was there: Rhaenyra and her husband, Harwin, Daemon and his wife, Laena, and their two girls. Alicent, Viserys, Otto, Helaena, Aegon, and all the other cousins.
To top it off, just looking at the food in front of you sent you running to the bathroom. Aegon stood outside the bathroom, offering you a cool drink of water to quell the nausea seeping into your bones.
You went back to your seat on the table, feeling Aemond's glance on you.
"Are you okay?" He asked.
"I had a gas station hot dog while I was out with Aegon and it didn't agree with me." You lied. You hated lying, but then you noticed Aemond notice Luke's constant fidgeting, and his eye narrowed.
"Luke? What's the matter with you?"
Luke looked white as a ghost, blinking heavily. "Nothing at all."
You knew Aemond's expression. He knew something was up, but he wasn't sure what. Aemond turned to you, then to Luke, and then, to Aegon. He was connecting pieces, but he didn't have the full picture yet.
"Now that everyone is here." Daemon interrupts the conversation, "I feel like I need to ask a question. I was in the guest house earlier, and I found something interesting in the garbage."
Oh, no. You looked to Aegon, who was chugging his wine, and to Luke who looked about as nauseous as you did.
"I'm gonna come out with it: Laena, are you pregnant?"
Laena choked on her water, looking at her husband. "No, no I am not, Daemon."
Daemon looked around, "Rhaenyra?"
"That's oddly invasive, Daemon, but no I am not."
Daemon turns to Helaena, who cannot hold back laughter.
"Uncle do you really think I'd be able to hide that?"
"Alright, then who the hell is pregnant?" Daemon asked.
You turned to Luke, then to Aegon, and then to Aemond, who had gotten the final piece in the puzzle and the realization dawned on him.
"It's mine!" You exclaimed.
Everyone looked at you, mouths agape.
"It's mine. Aemond, I was going to tell you, but I wanted it to be a little more quiet when I did." You said sheepishly, "I hope you're not upset."
"Why would I be upset?" Aemond asked. You could see panic on his features, but he stayed remarkably calm.
"We've just never talked about it, and I just wasn't sure..."
"Y/N, this is the best news. Really. You didn't have to hide it from me." Aemond says, but then he looks to Luke and Aegon.
"You two knew, didn't you?"
"Yes." Luke says, without hesitation, "she said she wanted to tell you first, so I avoided you."
"You know, Aemond, you can pull out, it's an option." Aegon says.
"Oh, Aegon, really? Now?" Alicent huffs, "But, this is great news. I am so excited for you two!"
"This is wonderful!" Viserys exclaims.
You nervously sat back, but then got a whiff of the Christmas roast on the table. You took a swallow, nausea creeping up again.
"Would you like to sit somewhere else, love?" Aemond asks.
"Yes. Yes I would." You said.

Christmas with Aemond's family was always a little wild, and a little bit crazy, but you knew that with Aemond, your child would be loved.
As you went to bed that night, Aemond's arm wrapped around you, you felt your nerves dissipate and you couldn't help but smile.
You had a wonderful family now. It was going to be wonderful.

Eight months later, as everyone crowded in your hospital room, to meet the newest family member.
"This, is Aela." Aemond said, "She's named after her uncle, the first person to know about her."
Aegon's eyes grew wide. He came close, studying the newborn, a genuine smile across his features.
"We are going to have so much fun when you're older." Aegon said, "Just you wait."
He took the new baby in his arms, smiling widely at you and Aemond. And you knew.
Aemond's family might be big, and they might be a little crazy, but there was a lot of love there. And little Aela would never be alone.

It felt like a betrayal of trust, what he was doing. 
If he had allowed himself to think about it, maybe he would have acknowledged that, yes, it absolutely was a betrayal. However, Simon was in no mood to be swayed from his mission, not even by his own conscience. Even so, his moral compass had taken a severe hit this past week.
He had stolen your phone.
He had every intention of giving it back, he just needed to ‘borrow’ it for a few hours. Still, he felt like a right sorry bastard, having to witness how upset you were over its loss. He consoled himself with the knowledge that your small grief was only temporary and was ultimately for a good cause. If that useless tosser you were seeing wasn’t going to take care of you properly, then Simon needed to intervene. He was doing this for you, he told himself.
Funny, that he had to keep reminding himself of that.
The first order of business was to be able to track you once you left Banfield, thus his reason for stealing your phone. He drove the two hours to base, your cell phone weighing like a stone in his pocket, then handed it over to one of the lab rats in the tech department.
“Need t’be able to trace this long range,” he’d told the tech, handing over your phone.
“Anything else?” the tech asked expectantly.
Putting a tracker on your phone was bad enough. Simon shook his head. “Nah. That’ll do. Need it ASAP.”
The tech looked the cell over and shrugged. “Won’t take long. Are you sure you don’t need access to anything else, though? I can get you detailed logs of calls, texts, search history, locations—”
“Locations?” Simon interrupted. Now, that he would allow. “Can you pinpoint where they were last Sunday?”
The tech nodded, a rather smug expression on his face as he tilted his nose up in the air. “Well, I can tell you where the phone was... approximately.” He took the phone back to his terminal and hooked it up to his computer, then began typing. He hacked into it within minutes, your personal data scrolling down the computer screen. “Alright then, let’s see where you’ve been..." he mumbled to himself. Scrolling down the screen, he paused to ask, "Last Sunday, did you say?”
“Yeah,” Simon muttered, his large frame leaning over the shoulder of the smaller man, eager to see what he’d find.
"Time stamp?"
Simon erred on the side of caution. "Hm, let's say... 0900. They would have been traveling that morning. I need to know where they went."
The tech gave a quick nod. He scrolled for a few more seconds, his brows furrowing. “Huh. Bit of a rough borough,” he muttered. He glanced over his shoulder at Simon, his neck craned. “Judging by the pings, it looks like your target took the overtrain to Hackney last Sunday.”
“Hackney?!” Simon barked, making the tech jump in surprise. ”Where in Hackney?” he demanded.
The tech pushed his glasses back up his nose, blinking up at Simon’s skull mask with an owlish expression. He quickly turned back to the keyboard.
“I can’t pinpoint a specific location, like an address," he warned, fingers dancing over the keys, "but I can narrow it down to a general area." He began to scroll down through more data displayed on the screen and then moved to the side, pointing at the log. 
“Your target reached their destination around eleven Sunday morning. They were stationary for about six hours at a location in Shoreditch. Looks like they were somewhere around the party block.” When Simon gave him a quizzical look, he explained. “Lot of clubs in that area. You know, dance clubs, strip clubs, bars and the like.” He peered up at Simon with a leering little smirk. “Your target isn’t a waitress or a stripper, is she? If she’s got some hot selfies. I could forward ‘em to ya,” he suggested, raising his eyebrows as he waggled your phone back and forth.
Anger, swift as a brush fire, swept through Simon in a flaming rush. The thought of this pervy little creeper going through your photos infuriated him. He yanked the phone away, laying it back on the desk before jabbing a finger into the tech’s boney shoulder. “Jus’ get the bloody tracker operational, then delete everything ya downloaded off that phone. All of it. Understood?”
The tech, realizing his mistake too late, gave a jerky nod as he scrambled to do as Simon commanded, shooting a nervous glance over his shoulder. Once the tracker was installed and activated on your phone, the tech disconnected it and deleted all your data from the system. Tapping the delete button on the last file, he proclaimed it, “Done and done,” with an air of smug bravado.
Simon eyed the younger man. There was just something about this weaselly little punter that didn’t sit right with him. He leaned down close to the tech’s face, skull mask close enough to brush his cheek. "Just a warnin', lad. If ya try t'pull a fast one, an' I find out ya kept, say, the file wif her pictures, I'll be back t'visit ya, an’ I won’t be as pleasant as I was this time.” He drew back to stare into his eyes. “We on the same page, mate?"
The terrified tech gulped, the knuckle of his Adam's apple bobbing up and down in his scrawny neck. "Y-Yes, sir," he breathed out in a quavering voice.
Simon straightened and clapped a big hand on the tech’s shoulder. "Good lad," he growled, squeezing his hand tight enough to make the young man's eyes widen in pain and panic. "Now get the receiver for the tracker goin’. I got places t’be."
The tech set to work with trembling hands, back spacing several times while typing to correct mistakes made with his nervous fingers. Finally, he managed to program a receiver and synced it to your cell phone, double-checking it before he passed it to the glowering lieutenant.
“S-Sorry about earlier, sir. I meant no offense,” he apologized, holding your phone out in offering.
Simon sneered at the tech as he snatched your cell phone from his hand and stalked out of the room without another word, absolutely seething with rage. However, he wasn't as angry at the little knob he'd just threatened as he was at you. 
What the bloody hell were you doing in Shoreditch? It had one of the highest crime rates in London, and you were just traipsing around the bloody place? His worries increased tenfold at the thought of you walking the streets there after dark, sitting alone and exposed at some inner-city bus stop like a piece of ripe fruit for some low-life to pick at their leisure. Did that bastard you were seeing at least walk you to your stop, make sure you got on the bus safe?
Simon grunted. Probably not. The fact that it was you putting forth all the effort and taking the risks hadn’t escaped him. Fuckin’ minger didn’t give a shite about you. Simon would never let you go somewhere like Shoreditch alone, and he sure as hell wouldn’t let you walk the streets alone at night. Just the thought of it made him feel sick.
His stomach was tied in knots by the time he made it back to his truck and set out for Banfield once more.
It was a long drive home.

Sunday...
The train to Hackney came to a halt with a squeal of brakes and a loud hiss. When the automatic doors opened, you quickly stepped out and made your way through the terminal to the main street beyond. You kept your head down, not making eye contact with anyone. Huddling inside your da’s old army jacket, you took a seat on the bench at the bus stop and waited for the bus to Shoreditch.
You didn’t pay any mind to the dark sedan that pulled to the curb across and further up the street, didn’t notice the large silhouette of a man sitting behind the wheel. You kept your eyes straight ahead and pointed down at the grimy sidewalk.
Simon slouched in his seat, the receiver blinking rapidly beside him. He checked his rental car’s mirrors before focusing on you again, taking in your stony expression. At least you knew not to engage with people, stay to yourself. He made a mental note to ask if you carried anything for protection, pepper spray or a knife. Not that those would do much good against some chav with a gun. He gritted his teeth and gripped the wheel.
Your bus arrived and you climbed aboard, taking a seat near the back. Simon waited until it was further up the block but still easily within sight before pulling out to follow. He wasn’t worried about losing track of you now, but he still felt the need to stay close, just in case.
With each stop, Simon tensed, waiting for you to rise and disembark, thinking your secret lover must live in one of the residential buildings that crowded the streets, yet it wasn’t until the bus reached a narrow street lined with shuttered businesses― bars, clubs and cheap eateries mostly, that you stepped off the bus. He pulled to the curb again to watch but felt his heart rate tick up when you turned and began walking in his direction.
“Fuck,” he hissed, trying to slouch in the seat and make himself less visible.
Just before you reached his vehicle, you stopped before a shuttered store front, the facade painted an ugly, lurid rust red, its corrugated shutter a flat black and littered with graffiti. You raised your fist and banged on the shutter, keeping a wary eye out as you waited. A door to the side of the shutter swung open, an older, balding man poking his head out and motioning for you to come inside.
Simon watched you step through the door, disappearing from sight, his eyes travelling up to the name of the establishment printed on the sign above in bold, white letters. ‘The Grind’, it read and below that in a smaller font, ‘Gentleman’s Club’.
“What the bloody fuckin’ hell?” he snarled.
You had just entered a strip club.

You stood in the back near the dressing rooms, a mop bucket filling with water from a tap low on the wall. A cleaning trolley sat nearby, loaded down with everything you’d need. Your boss, Murray, was standing on the other side of the tap, his paunchy frame leaned against the bare brick wall as he tapped away at his phone. He glanced up at you as you shut off the tap and dunked the mop in the bucket.
“Be sure an’ give the private rooms a deep clean. Had a good night last night. The lads kept the girls busy,” he said with a leering smirk.
You tried to hide your disgust at the insinuation. Murray’s ‘girls’ were allowed to supplement their incomes by servicing the club’s clientele with sexual favors. He was little better than a street pimp, taking a cut of their profits for himself in exchange for a safe place to conduct their business. He had cameras hid in the private rooms to make sure none of the dancers shafted him, always keeping a sharp eye on his ‘investments’, as he called them.
If not for the fact he paid you so well, you wouldn’t be caught dead around a dive like this, wouldn’t ever bother to come to Shoreditch or Hackney at all. After moving away from this crime-infested area, you never wanted to return, but your financial situation demanded it. If it wasn’t for this job, you would have to work another part-time job when you weren’t on shift at the pub. Ollie paid you a fair wage, but it wasn’t enough to cover all your living expenses.
Picking up the jug of industrial cleaner from the cart, you poured a measure of it into the bucket of water, wrinkling your nose at its caustic smell. You had no doubt that this is what was damaging your hands. “Hey, Mur. Do ya think you could switch cleaners? This stuff is so strong it takes the skin off my hands.”
Murray shook his head. “That stuff kills everything. No matter what these filthy mingers bring in here, tha’ stuff will take care of it. Just― double up on the gloves ‘r somethin’,” he said over his shoulder as he headed back towards his office.
Arsehole, you thought, scowling after him. You’d have to try and hide your hands from Riley tonight. He’d be checking on them now and would fuss, you knew, no doubt asking more questions. You grimaced at the thought.
You didn’t like dodging his questions and skirting around the truth, but he just wouldn’t leave it alone, and it was getting kind of annoying. You appreciated that he was concerned about your welfare, but he was toeing the line of your personal boundaries, trying to make something his business that simply wasn’t.
You could admit that most of your hesitance to come clean with him was due to your own embarrassment. You were being paid to deep clean what was essentially a brothel. You were paid well for it, sure— well, you were paid hansdomely for your discretion also— but who would want to admit they earned their paycheck tossing out bin bags of used condoms and scrubbing sex rooms clean for a living? You could just picture the look of disgust on Riley’s face if he ever found out.
You blew out a frustrated breath. This whole situation was wearing thin on your patience. You needed to get started, otherwise you risked missing your bus back to the train station later, and you didn’t want to be in Shoreditch after dark, if you could help it. Deciding to start with the trash, first, you grabbed the roll of bin bags from the cart and set off for the private rooms.

Simon strolled past the Grind’s entrance for the third time, eyes darting around beneath the hood of his sweatshirt as he eyed the security camera over the door. He’d spotted others while casing the building, all of them unfortunately operational, save one. It was located at the side emergency exit above the door, lifeless, its red light dead. 
It was his best hope of entry, but it was far from optimal. The alleyway was wide to allow vehicle access, so it was kept clear with few places to hide, far more exposed than he would have liked. He had also checked the emergency door during his first recon of the building, only to find that it was alarmed and locked tight. It wasn’t impregnable, he could still get in, but he would need to bypass the alarm as well as pick the locks, which would take time, and he would need to do all this without being spotted.
It was a recipe for disaster, he knew, his chances of being caught by some random pedestrian high. He was dressed casually, and he’d chosen to wear his surgical mask to draw less attention, but his size was an issue; his large, towering frame drew the curious glances of those he passed. Add that to being dressed in dark clothes and masked, if he was spotted loitering about the exit for too long, someone was bound to report him.
He needed a better look at the alarm and the locks to give him an idea of what this risky endeavor would entail. Turning down the alleyway once more, he kept a leisurely pace, hands tucked into the pockets of his jacket, seemingly relaxed, just a guy taking a shortcut to get to the next street over. His eyes shifted as he came even with the door, his steps slowing just a fraction, all attention focused on the locks.
He wasn’t expecting the door to suddenly burst open, and he startled, his body turning to face the door head-on. His eyes went wide when you came pushing out the door, hands full of bin bags. Your head shot up at the scuffing sound of his boots on the pavement, startled yourself, your mouth falling open to gasp as your eyes went wide in surprise.
“Riley?!”
Simon felt like a deer in headlights. You’d caught him red handed, nosing around, and only then did he consider how bad this must look. He could already tell by the way you were looking at him that he was about to catch all sorts of hell, so he acted accordingly.
Squaring off as he scowled at you, he growled, “The fuck is this, Dee? You an’ me are goin’ t’have a talk!”
“Oh, you fuckin’ bet we are!” you snapped back, flinging the bin bags down as you marched towards. him. You jabbed your finger at him as you gave him a baleful look. “You followed me,” you accused, voice low and angry. “You just couldn’t stand not knowing, could ya? You just had to know, so you followed me here, doggin’ my steps like some bloody’ creeper.” You glared at him, mouth pinching up in anger. “I am so fucking pissed at you, right now.”
Feeling defensive and irrationally betrayed, he glared at you, speaking in a venomous tone. “Don’t give a fuck how pissed ya are,” he huffed, then scoffed at your shocked expression. “So, this is yer big secret? Ya give lap dances to dirty old pervs to pay yer rent?” 
You wouldn’t have been more shocked if he had slapped you across the face. He’d said plenty of mean things to you in the past when the two of you argued, but he had never been cruel to you like this. Never. Pain as sharp as a dagger pierced your heart, but quickly morphed into fury. A thunderous look darkened your expression. Before you knew what you were about, you planted your hands on his chest and shoved him, hard. It caught him off guard enough that he staggered a step back, eyes going wide in surprise.
“Don’t you ever speak to me like that again!” you snarled, stepping away. “Better yet, don’t fuckin’ speak to me at all.” You spun on your heel and went back to the door, only then noticing it had closed behind you. You were locked out. Growling in frustration and on the verge of tears, you curled your hands into fists and began marching stiffly towards the street exit. You’d have to get Murray to let you back in.
Simon came around you and blocked your way, his eyes full of rage until he saw the expression on your face. Tears were threatening to spill, hurt sharp and bright in your eyes. “Doll, listen. I―”
“I trusted you. You were supposed to be my friend.” Your breath hitched, and a tear rolled down your face. You gave a furious shake of your head when he opened his mouth and hurried to step around him. You couldn’t do this anymore.
“Doll, wait!” he called after you, but you shook your head and walked faster.
“Don’t, Riley. Just...leave me alone.” Your voice wavered on the last word, and you broke into a jog, hurrying around the corner and out of sight.
Simon stared after you, the reality of what he’d just done, what he’d just said to you, settling in his chest like cold lead, his heart crushed beneath the weight of his own remorse.

“So,” I stepped back so I could fit in the frame. “What do you think?”
“You look great mom,” Y/D/N replied with a smile.
“Are you sure?” I questioned my outfit choice. “Shouldn’t I dress my age?”
“Mom, do you think Dad dresses his age?” She let out a laugh. “Besides, you look hot.”
“That is true,” I chuckled and put on the earrings that Pete got me for our twentieth anniversary. “At the same time if he’s not in his flight suit, it’s just jeans with a t-shirt, and his bomber jacket along with his aviators.”
“There’s the occasional suit that’s not his dress uniforms,” she shrugged.
“All right, your dad and I will see you in a few days when you get back from college,” I let out a chuckle and finished getting ready. “Love you.”
“Love you too,” she smiled and we hung up the video call.
Grabbing my phone, I saw the text Pete sent me saying that he’s running a little bit behind. We already had plans for me picking him up on base as he changes for our date. Sending him a reply, I adjusted the straps and smoothed out the velvet green dress that I got a little while ago. Putting on my heels, I grabbed my purse and made my way out of the house.
Getting into the car, I turned on the ignition and pulled out of the driveway before making the ten minute drive to base. On the way there, I hummed to some of the songs that Pete and I have in our playlist. Pulling up to base, I pulled my ID out and was allowed to go in. Parking the car, I got out and headed to where Pete and the Dagger Squad were.
“Well guys,” I heard Pete say as I walked into the hangar. “You all are dismissed. Need to get ready for date night for the misses.”
“Are you going to dress up Mav?” Hangman jokes.
“Oh please, his version of dressing up is wearing the same thing and putting on the fanciest pair of aviators he has,” Mickey quipped.
“Hey, he can don a suit from time to time,” I said, making my presence known.
“Oh wow,” I blushed at Maverick’s reaction.
“Damn Mama Mav,” Coyote hyped me up. “You look-”
“Amazing!” Phoenix completed his sentence. “That color looks great on you.”
“Thank you,” I thanked her and walked up to Mav. “So, what do you think?”
“You look amazing,” he replied before placing a kiss on my lips.
I let out a chuckle when I saw Pete flipping Bradley off as we heard him gag.
“Now go change,” I smacked his butt. “We have reservations.”
“Yes ma'am,” he saluted me as I rolled my eyes.
Once he left the hangar, I went up to the rest of my Dagger Ducklings and talked to them while we waited for Pete. I also mentioned there was going to be a family dinner when Y/D/N comes back from DC. I might’ve also threatened to ground Bradley since he let out a groan when I told him that he needed to pick her up from the airport since Pete and I are busy on the day she lands and he had a day off. I’m pretty sure Mav forgot to dismiss them since they haven’t left to go change yet. All of us continued to talk to each other about other things until Mav came back.
“Looking sharp old man,” Hangman whistled. “Suit, tie, cufflinks, and everything else.”
“Well then, you all are dismissed,” Pete announced. “I’m taking this lovely lady out on a night on the town.”
“Have fun guys,” all of them told us.
Thanking them, I reminded them about family dinner and we headed off base to the parking lot. Pete opened the passenger door for me and I got in. Getting into the driver’s seat, Pete started the car and started to drive off base to our location. During the drive there, Pete and I sang along to the songs that were playing through the speakers. Parking and getting out of the car as we got to the restaurant, we headed in and waited for a little bit for our table.
“Don’t give me that look,” I told him as we sat down and looked through the menu.
“What look?” I could see him smirking.
“That look,” I replied while looking at him.
I could see him undressing me with his eyes.
“This is the only look I have darling,” he winked and I rolled my eyes.
Our waiter came back with our drinks and we ordered our meals. Munching on the free bread, we talked about the plans we’re going to have with Y/D/N when she lands here. We already have the family dinner planned but we’re not sure what to do for the rest of the week. Our food came and we continued our conversation.
Throughout the meal, Mav and I kept on sending each other looks. We teased each other a little bit but not too much. Pete would sometimes place his hand on my thigh while I smirked. When dinner reached an end, Pete paid for our meal and we headed out of the restaurant. Pete wrapped his arm around my shoulders and he got closer to my ear to whisper something.
“That dress is immediately coming off once we step into the house,” he whispered.
“I would love to see you try,” I laughed as we got into the car. “The back has twenty buttons and it took me a while for me to button them up.”
“Darling, I’m a highly decorated captain of the Navy,” he chuckled. “I’m able to do anything.”
Rolling my eyes at his answer, he drove us back home. Parking the car in the driveway, we got out of the car and Mav rushed to open the front door. Getting to the front door, I let out a squeal and a laugh as Mav picked me up bridal style as he carried me into the house. Wrapping my arms around his neck, we started to kiss as he carried me up the stairs. Opening the door to our bedroom, he placed me down on the bed and started to unbutton the back of my dress while placing kisses along my body.
*Meanwhile in the Living Room*
“Did we just?” Phoenix questioned.
“Yeah, did we just?” Bob looked at his pilot.
“Wanna go back?” Hangman suggested.
“Yeah, let's go back,” all of the aviators agreed.
All twelve aviators grabbed all of their things and headed out of the house to the shared house they own.

Note: Got inspired with Ron Kamonohashi voice actor Youhei Azakami’s costumes the other day. What if Ron Kamonohashi dressed up like that for a disguise? All mistakes are mine.

The girl had a pretty face. She was taller than an average Japanese woman. From Toto’s point of view, her long, straight black hair styled in braids with even fringes matched the eyeglasses that shaped her oval face and shapely lips dipped in rouge. Her school uniform suggested that she was probably attending the renowned private school for girls in Minato Ward. Truth to tell, he never had once encountered Ron’s tenants except for Dr. Mofu, who returned to her own flat three weeks ago. Toto waited until the young woman was already inside the building. At 27, he was still awkward toward the opposite sex, unless he had to deal with them professionally.
After counting until 10 using the car to take cover, Toto then walked toward the Maison du Kamonohashi and trailed the stairs to his friend’s flat. “Ron, are you in?” He called in after buzzing the bell three times. On the door hanged the ubiquitous“Manager’s Office” signage. No answer. A few minutes later he heard rustling from the other side of the room. “Ron? You told me to come,” the police detective called out again. Nothing would prepare Toto for a big surprise when he realised who opened the door. It was the young woman he saw coming in to the building. “Hello!” Her high-pitched voice hit Toto like a whiplash. “Ah!” Toto quickly recovered. She was more beautiful closer. Her icy blue eyes reminded him of his friend’s, which were now freed from the glass frame. Ron never informed him of a younger sister, didn’t he? “I-i-i-is Ron here?” Stammered Toto, beads of sweat began to run on his forehead. The young woman arched her left eyebrow, smiled mischievously. Her full lips reminded him of a certain someone, who was not in the room, apart from those eyes. “He sent me a text saying he needed some help,” Toto mustered the words more coherently. “Yes, he did. He wanted your opinion on a particular case,” replied the woman, who guided him to the lounge area to take a seat. Toto chose the red armchair he always sat on. She then positioned herself in front of him and began to lift up her skirt and slightly bending her knees as if to pay a curtsy to an aristocrat. As soon as she stood up, her fingers began to untie the ribbon on her chest, then proceeded to unbutton her blouse. Toto’s eyes went bigger and wondered what the hell was happening. The police detective noticed that she was wearing a grey camisole. “I-I-I a-am not … what this is…” Surely there had been a mistake. Toto tracked the woman’s hands attempting to remove her undershirt. The skin-toned brassiere was suddenly on the floor. What???? Toto couldn’t help closing his eyes. He was still on duty and there in front of him was a beautiful lady. Whatever this was he was not prepared for it. “Relax, Toto, this is going to be as swift as possible!” His friend’s familiar voice echoed in the four corners of the room! The laughter was imminent. “Ron! You!!” Phew! There was both relief and disappointment in Toto’s sigh. “Only tried to fool you once Toto. I just wanted to gauge your reaction. You were never like that with Chikori-kun,” Ron explained. “Ron? But why?” Toto couldn’t help asking the reason of Ron’s disguise. “I noticed your reaction the other day when we watched a TV program featuring those idols wearing schoolgirl uniforms. So I made an experiment,” Ron smiled. “Don’t worry, Toto, no harm done.” Toto was speechless. He really thought the young lady was real. “Ack… I thought she was your young sister.” “Was she beautiful? Was she your type,” asked Ron curious now. “She was. But only because she reminded me of you,” Toto admitted his feelings.
“Ah! I’ve been waiting for you to say that,” Ron held his friend’s hands, who tapped it away, still upset. “Idiot,” Toto smiled back, his anger melting away.

Sunless Lives Part 5: I Should Have Trusted You
Gina spills. So does Simon.

Simon was asleep when Matthew and Gina went to check on him after they finished eating, curled up in bed with the bloodstained blanket cast to the floor. Miraculously, the omelet was gone - Simon must’ve eaten it at some point. Matthew delicately lifted Simon’s wrist and checked his pulse. He gave Gina a reassuring nod; it was steady. Simon would physically recover from this.
The quiet moment gave Matthew time to finally look around Simon’s room - not that he was snooping, just taking in his surroundings. There was a closet door, a bed, bedside cabinets, a dresser, a desk with a weirdly chunky lamp on it and… that was it. No posters, no art. Everything was generic beige and white. It looked more like a hotel room than someplace someone actually lived.
He and Gina returned to the main room, and he observed the same. After the bloodstain, the most interesting thing in the room was the bookcase. He drifted over to it. It was only four shelves high, and the top two were stuffed with books about vampires. Long-form case studies, VIU training manuals, early vampire-hunter biographies. In the lower two, he was surprised to find mostly fantasy fiction: Tolkien, Martin, and Sapkowski were the few he recognized. Then, in the bottom corner: self-help books. They had titles like Trauma: A Dissection and The PTSD Workbook. Matthew backed off, once again feeling like an invader in Simon’s home.
Thump-thump-thump.
Gina got to the door before he did; she looked through the peephole.
“It’s the Captain,” she informed Matthew with a hint of disgust. She yanked the door open.
“Sir.”
“Ruiz.” Captain Isles stepped inside, laden with three laptop bags over his shoulder, two grocery bags in one hand and a short metal rod in the other.
“Wynn said you needed this,” he held out the rod - a collapsible IV stand.
“Thanks,” Gina said stiffly, taking it from him. It hardly mattered now that Simon’s second transfusion was almost complete and the bag had hung on his bed frame with no issue, but Gina made no comment.
Isles stood still, watching her expectantly with an eyebrow quirked, clearly waiting for her to relieve him of the rest of his baggage. Matthew stepped in instead.
“Here, let me get that.” He took the grocery bags and set them on the kitchen counter. Captain Isles dropped the laptop bags on the couch, his eyes tracking the bloodstain on the carpet. As usual, he kept his cool and didn’t react.
“I brought your portable workstations. No reason you can’t catch up on paperwork while you're here.”
Gina noted the number of bags.
“You brought Simon’s too. You expect him to work right now?” she asked.
“Of course not right now,” Isles dismissed her, “But eventually, yes. Now I should…” He stopped oddly. Matthew started working up the nerve to ask him to stay with Simon for a while, but Gina beat him to the punch.
“Simon’s asleep,” Gina snapped. Then, as an afterthought, “Sir.”
Captain Isles tilted his head at her, then nodded.
“Of course. I’ll be leaving then,” he made for the door, “I’ll keep Wynn and Barre in the building today, text them whatever you need. And clean that up.” He gestured at the bloodstain, and then he was gone before either of them could respond, the door closing with a click of finality.
Matthew looked back and forth between the door and Gina.
“Simon really wanted to see him!” he complained.
“And you think that would have been a good idea?” Gina challenged him.
“I don’t know, but it’s what Simon wanted, doesn’t that matter? And we didn’t even tell Isles what happened, we need help -”
“You - Ugh, you don’t know anything!” Gina huffed, and she marched over to the kitchen and started putting away the groceries, just barely resisting slamming cabinet doors. Matthew watched her, bewildered.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” he asked.
She eyed him as she shoved canned soup into a cabinet. Eventually she decided to spill.
“Before you got here, Simon and Isles had some kind of relationship,” she said, “They tried to keep it secret but we all knew. Then they broke up right before you were brought on. Fridge.” She shoved a carton of orange juice into his hands.
“Oh…” Some things clicked into place as Matthew fumbled the juice into the fridge.
“They’ve had this weird dynamic ever since,” Gina continued, “Like Isles cares about Simon, but is also pissed at him. Whereas Simon still worships Isles, just… platonically, now.”
It made more sense now - the way Isles seemed to care in some way for Simon, but was also harsh with him. And maybe… a bit jealous.
“But you don’t think it was… abusive or anything, right?” Matthew asked. Gina paused what she was doing, leaning against the sink. She looked exhausted.
“I don’t know,” she said, her voice low, “But the facts are that Isles is his boss, over twice his age, and he lives at work, it’s not like they can get away from each other.”
“And it sure sounded like Isles is the only reason Simon can live here at all,” Matthew recalled, “If Isles was telling the truth, anyway, Simon could be dead if it weren’t for him.”
Or ‘worse’ - whatever the captain had meant by that.
“It’s not the best foundation,” Gina agreed. Then she jabbed his chest with a bunch of celery.
“Don’t tell anyone I told you. I’ll not be known as a gossip.”
“You, a gossip?” Matthew scoffed, “Like anyone would believe that.”

Thump-thump-thump.
Simon awoke with a start, clamping a hand over his own mouth with practiced speed. His palm was cold and clammy against his lips. His brightly-lit bedroom loomed around him.
No no no no -
“It’s the Captain,” he heard distantly.
Relief washed over him, then shame. That’s right. Gina and Matthew were there. Taking care of him. Seeing the worst. If only Chris had stayed from the beginning - but he was here now. Simon tried to push himself upright, but pain burned through his head, shoulder, back, and ribs and the dizziness sent him flopping back down like a ragdoll. All he could do was listen as Christian came and left, and his heart sank. Then he heard voices raised in argument.
“Simon really wanted to see him!”
“And you think that would have been a good idea?”
“I don’t know, but it’s what Simon wanted, doesn’t that matter?”
Matthew.
Simon liked Matthew, he really did. Matthew was always looking out for him, always complimenting his work, not his face or his body, his work…
Please trust us. Trust me.
“We didn’t even tell him what happened, we need help -”
Simon was suddenly overwhelmed by foggy, distorted memories of pulling Matthew’s gun on him. He felt his already-feverish face burn even hotter with embarrassment. Matthew had to think he was crazy now. There was no way Simon could explain that - no way he would. 
I totally like you, but when you dragged me into the bedroom I thought you were going to treat me the way my ex did, and I didn’t want that to be our first time. Not that you’d ever do that. Would you? Of course not - oh, what ex?
Just the dead one.
(Who was just here, wasn’t she?)
If he could have, Simon would’ve sat bolt upright. Because she had been there, hooking up an IV and feeding him pills and scolding him about groceries just like she always did. She had been about to leave and Simon had grabbed her hand, begged her to stay, because at least with her he knew exactly what he’d get and it would, in some small part, be comfort. He missed her, after all.
But she had jerked her hand away. Softly apologized, in a way that was very unlike her.
Because it wasn’t her.
The realization that he had grabbed and nearly kissed the hand of Gina, of all people, sent bile surging up Simon’s throat. He desperately twisted his body and managed to vomit over the side of the bed, onto the bedspread on the floor. He hacked and coughed, and stared down at the mess dimly. His ribs felt like they had been broken all over again, and a dull pain throbbed in his arm.
When did I eat eggs?
“Simon!” Matthew threw open the door. Simon didn’t even have the energy to flinch. Matthew rushed over to him, any caution he might have gained from their last interaction forgotten.
“Damn… Is it all out?” He rested a hand on Simon’s back. Which wasn’t… so bad.
“Mhm,” Simon managed.
“Okay. Let’s roll you over.” Matthew took hold of Simon’s shoulders and rolled him onto his back, fully back on the bed.
“You pulled your IV out,” he observed.
“Oh?” Simon lifted his hand in the air and wiggled his fingers. Sure enough, blood leaked from the crook of his arm.
“It was about done, anyway.” Matthew disappeared from Simon’s vision, then returned a second later with the bite kit, opening it up on the bed next to Simon. He caught Simon’s wrist where it swayed in the air with one hand and mopped up the blood with an antiseptic wipe in the other. Simon suddenly felt like a little kid, their sticky hands and arms ever-so-gently manhandled by a parent with wet wipes. It was almost a memory he could place, almost something he could picture - 
“Done!” Matthew patted a large band-aid onto the small puncture and lowered Simon’s arm to his side, ignorant of Simon’s feverish daydreams, “Now, uhh…” he looked off to the side.
“Rinse his mouth out,” came Gina’s voice from where he was looking. Simon tensed. She was out of his eyeline - of course she’d keep her distance, after what a creep he’d been.
“Right!” Matthew said, trying to keep his voice upbeat, “Let’s sit you up.”
Matthew worked with Simon to adjust him into a slightly more upright position that still wouldn’t stress his ribs, supported by pillows. Mathew's hands danced around him, moving his arms, lifting his shoulders, supporting the back of his head; Simon was too exhausted and dizzy to process the way Matthew was touching him and handling his body, but he knew he would later. Once he was upright his eyes focused enough to see Gina in the doorway. She watched him for a moment, grim and wide-eyed, before slipping out of the room.
“Here,” Matthew’s voice brought Simon’s gaze back to the other man’s face. Matthew was holding up a half-empty glass of water.
“Swish and spit,” he ordered.
Simon’s arm half-lifted to take the glass, but Matthew already had it tipped at his lips. Simon took in a mouthful and let it swirl around, picking up bits of sick along the way. Then he had no choice but to dribble it back into the glass Matthew still held, discoloring the water.
Why do I have to be so fucking gross.
“Here,” Gina was suddenly at Matthew’s side, trading the fouled glass with a fresh, full one and a pack of saltines before retreating again. 
Matthew set the glass on the bedside table, then fished out a cracker and snapped it in half.
“Open.” He lifted a morsel of cracker to Simon’s lips.
Embarrassing. Embarrassing. This whole thing is embarrassing.
Simon accepted the cracker, chewing slowly and swallowing hard. It dried his mouth out, but Matthew was right there with the glass of water.
I never needed help like this before, did I? Not unless I was dying. But I’m not dying, so…
Matthew fed him slowly, but consistently, alternating small pieces of saltines with sips of water. Simon felt his discomfort at the situation fading, along with his focus. His eyes wandered from tracking Matthew’s hand, up his arm, his shoulders, his lips, to his eyes - brown, with muddy green flecks. Simon tried to stay focused on them as thoughts swam through his head, getting harder and harder to hold on to. He wanted to say something, something important, but his thoughts kept escaping and his mouth was full of crackers.
He didn’t hurt me. Even when he had the gun, he didn’t.
He’s helping, now, even though I shouldn't need it.
Trust? Is that what this is? I think I trust that, if he did hurt me…
It wouldn’t be that bad.

Egotober 2023 Day 8: A Framed Story
Summary: Ethan is finding heroics to be not as glamorous as he thought it would be.
A/N: This one fits the prompt only on a technicality.

When Ethan wanted to be a hero, he didn’t think it would be quite as tedious.
He’d been given a fancy wrist watch so he could always keep in touch with the heroes, and was required to always let either his mom or dad know where he was at all times. Legal requirements. He was supposed to get a new suit soon but for now not to go chasing supervillains.
And the very next day after officially becoming a hero, Ethan was sent to a neighboring building just to watch the city capital building in case anything happened.
He spent way too long in the building, and texting the two other apprentices. Logic was apparently trying to do homework before a patrol with Bing. Logic was incredibly cagey, only giving short replies. Stripes was a bit more social but he was apparently having to do something for school so he couldn’t really carry out a conversation.
The Coalition needed more apprentices. More chatty apprentices at least.
His phone let out a chime and a text from Silver appeared.
Silver: “Come into the building, want you to mean the candidates, Gatling is with me.”
Eager for something to do, Ethan leapt up and ran down the stairs to get down to city hall where Gatling was waiting to usher him in. They were joking around a bit when they got into the main lobby where Silver was with two men. One who looked considerably more welcoming but weirdly familiar in a way he just couldn’t place. The other guy looked like he hated that not only Silver was there but he seemed to hate Ethan being there even more.
“Great, you brought your kid,” the angrier of the pair said.
“Not my kid, he’s our apprentice,” Silver said. Silver gestured to the two men. “Blank, this is Doomstrum and Malloy.”
“Really?” Ethan asked.
“Damien Doomstrum, my father would utterly disown me if I changed my name,” Damien said. “My colleague here is Arthur Malloy.”
“If you’ll excuse me, I have more important things to do,” Malloy said before walking away.
“He seems to just be like that,” Damien said.
“Shame,” Bob said.
“Nice to meet you Blank, I’ve seen your picture on the news,” Damien said.
“Wanted the security team to get used to him, hope you don’t mind,” Silver said.
“Not at all,” Damien said. “I have a couple about his age, it’s a very rambunctious time.”
Bob was about to ask a couple questions, mostly out of curiosity but the entrance of the lobby opened and a young man about Ethan’s age walked in.
“Hey,” the young man said.
Damien’s head had turned the instant the door opened. He seemed to relax when he saw who it was. “Yes? What is it?” Damien asked.
“Going out for a bite to eat, you want anything?” The young man said.
“I’ll catch up with you two in a bit, Ill’s still have my wallet? Cause I know he took it.”
“Yeah, probably,” the young man said. “Okay, well, he’ll text you when we pick a place.”
“Thank you,” Damien said.
The kid went back through the door and Bob just pointed after him. “How old is that kid, like? Ten?”
“He’s fifteen, and he has two pocket knives he thinks I don’t know about. Besides, he’s got his older brother around, they should be fine.” Damien said. Then he took a deep breath and pulled out a cell phone. “Besides, I have their phones tracked and we’ll be done soon enough.”
“Ahh, that explains it,” Silver said with a smile.
“Yes, well, I have to go collect my things, and then two of my boys,” Damien said. “I still have paperwork to bring home.”
“Don’t let us keep you,” Silver said.
Damien walked out of the room and the instant the doors closed his cheerful facade turned into a deep scowl and a portal opened up from that hallway and into Malloy’s office where the man was packing things up.
In an instant, “Damien” grabbed Malloy by the lapels and used his chromatic aura to suspend him in the air. “Come now, you could at least try. What fun is this if you don’t try?”
“I don’t know why you’re bothering with this,” Malloy said, all chilled confidence gone from his voice. “We could just declare you mayor.”
“Hmm,” Damien’s head tilted a bit too far. “Obviously rigged election, with a man the heroes don’t know about. All of it would be a bit too obvious. The people have hope, they stack their chips on me, and if they ever find out the truth I get to watch the hope bleed away. Isn’t that wonderful?”
“Yes, yes,” Malloy said eagerly.
“And either you win and I get new bribes, or I win and we get to just cut out the middle man, and maybe if you can keep your mouth shut, you get to live.”
A portal opened up and Kaylor stepped out, wearing one of his squirrel ties. In one hand he had a hamburger, and in the other he had a file of a couple papers. “Heroes are gone.”
“Good,” Damien said, releasing Malloy. “What else did you find?”
Kay handed Damien a couple of folded up pieces of paper. “He’s got two phones on him, Google could get into one of them. We’re not sure if either is his normal phone.”
“Thank you, Curls,” Damien said. He dropped Malloy and took the papers. “You’re in charge of keeping your eye on him.”
“Got it,” Kay said and Damien opened up a portal which the Lost One stepped through.
“Children,” Damien smirked. “Aren’t they simply wonderful?”
“I don’t know where you got that little hellion from, but I hope his parents know where he is.” Malloy figured he would get a light chastisement or a slap on the wrist.
Instead Dark’s aura seized him around the throat with startling quickness. Dark’s form seized back into being before changing back into Damien. “If I didn’t need you to sell my campaign, I would snap your insufferable neck. You worry about your assets, and I’ll worry about mine. And don’t worry, his father knows exactly what he needs to.”
Malloy was released and slumped against the wall coughing. “Get your things, and get out of my sight. Before you have an accident.”
The human recovered quickly enough and gathered his things before rushing out and leaving Damien alone to watch him slink off.
The demon mobster planned the next couple months in his mind as he returned to the Manor where his Lost Ones and Wilford were waiting for him.

- Revelations -
Sophia opened her eyes when the airplane was about to land in Incheon. Absentmindedly, she asked for the time. Jay, who was sitting wide awake next to her, turned around, his eyes landing upon Sophia’s, his voice soft and low.
“8 pm, the plane’s about to land.”
She sat up, clearing her throat. Suddenly she felt very uncomfortable, and couldn’t wait to create some distance between her and Jay.
“And then? Are you taking me to a hotel?”
Jay froze. This was the plan. Originally. Until Jun-Seo texted him right before they boarded the plane. Apparently some members of other mafia families had tracked Jay’s whereabouts and found out he went on a trip to Seattle. Since no one knew about Jinyoung’s or Jay’s connection to Seattle, they all frowned. But it wouldn’t take them long to connect the dots.
“Actually, you’re staying with us.”
“And who’s us? Who are you? Jinyoung’s friend? Aren’t you a bit too young? You could be his son!”
“Soon.”
“We’re in Korea now! You said I’d get my answers when we’re in Korea!”
Jay was definitely irritated, although he tried to remain calm. All these years he’d been only around men. And because he was in the mafia, he thought no woman would date him. Being around women wasn’t something he was used to. Women were okay to be around only when they didn’t talk. Sophia however talked a lot.
“There’s someone waiting for us at the airport. They’re going to explain everything to you!”
“Fine.”
Sophia said, crossing her arms in front of her chest. Jay didn’t need to know or understand women to know what that meant. She was pissed, and Jun-Seo had stated clearly Jay needed to keep Sophia happy and entertained.
When Jay spotted Jun-Seo in the distance, he guided Sophia towards him. He introduced them to each other and then whispered in Jun-Seo’s ear.
“She’s all yours! I’m going back to work.”
Jun-Seo smiled nervously, guiding Sophia to the car, while his eyes followed Jay, who got in another car, the car Jun-Seo drove here himself, as per Jay’s request. 
“Wow! A driver. I must be important. A chaebol?”
“Something like that. Once we arrive at the house I’ll let you fully settle in and explain everything to you. The drive won’t take long.”
Jun-Seo didn’t lie. After a quick 20-minute drive the car pulled up in the Kim mansion. Sophia stood there, mouth agape when she saw the palatial house and adjacent garden, complete with its own fountain and big statue in the middle. Jinyoung had built this house, hoping that one day his family would get to see it. Jun-Seo smiled content at Sophia who marveled at its sight. 
“Follow me this way.”
He called Sophia over who wandered off as soon as the car halted. He made sure no one was around. It would be hard to justify all the men’s presence without going straight to the point. Jun-Seo knew he had to ease her in slowly, otherwise she would bolt. 
He guided Sophia to his large office, offering her coffee as soon as she sat down. Then he joined her on the big couch, folding his hands in his lap.
“I understand Jay didn’t tell you much.”
“He said he was my father’s friend.”
“Well, yes. That is true. But he’s much more than that. He was your father’s most trusted person. He was Jinyoung’s right hand.”
“So his name was Jinyoung.” 
Sophia said absentmindedly, prompting Jun-Seo to halt.
“I don’t know what to say, how to console you.”
“I didn’t know him, so it feels weird to me.”
“I bet. Let me assure you that he cared about you a lot. The decisions he made, he made with your best interest in mind.”
Sophia nodded, and got up off the couch, wandering around the office. She stood by the bookshelf, checking out the books. 
“So you’re a lawyer?”
“Yes. I’ve worked with your father for 30 years.”
Sophia was impressed. Looking around some more, she found some framed pictures displayed on the mantelpiece. 
“This… I know this man! Was that him?"
Sophia whirled her head around, catching Jun-Seo looking down at his hands. She understood the pain he felt. It was the same pain she saw in Jay’s eyes.
Sitting back down on the couch, she looked at Jun-Seo intently.
“I remember him visiting us in Seattle. I’m not making this up, right? It really was him! I always found it weird that my mom never introduced him properly. She just kept saying he was an old friend. What’s yours, what’s Jay’s relationship to my father?”
It was the question that kept Sophia awake since the moment she met Jay.
Jun-Seo contemplated. Initially he thought he should ease her in slowly, but now that he met her, he realized she was a lot like Jinyoung. She would be able to handle the truth, so it made no sense beating around the bush.
“Jinyoung was a mafia boss. The Kim family has been at the top of the most influential families in Korea for the past 20 years.”
He watched as all color drained from her face. Sophia panicked, overwhelmed by what she just heard. Her fight or flight instinct kicked in, and she chose the latter.
“I’m sorry. I can’t.” 
Dazed, she stormed out the room, colliding with Jay who just returned home. One look at her and Jay knew she just heard the big news.
“Hey! Hey, look at me. You’re okay.”
“I can’t be here.”
“You’re safe here!”
Jay pushed her back inside Jun-Seo’s office, closing the door behind them. He whispered something in Jun-Seo’s ear and the other man nodded.
“Sophia, we know this is a lot. We’re willing to answer any question you might have. But you have to keep an open mind also. You can’t be jumpy while you’re here.”
“Are you listening to yourself? You just told me you’re- oh my God!”
Jay silently ushered Jun-Seo out of the room, offering to take over. Maybe he’d have better luck.
“Sophia? Listen to me. Whatever misconception you have, you need to throw away. Jinyoung was a wonderful, caring, big-hearted man. He took me in when my mother abandoned me. He cared about you, made sure your mother always had enough money to care for you, he cared for this community and the people he worked with and those who worked for him.”
“This doesn’t make sense. I’m a doctor for God’s sake!”
“Jinyoung dreamed of becoming a doctor. I guess in a way he achieved his goal. He always took care of people.”
“I’m not- I- I can see that you cared a lot about him but I can’t- … I just-”
“You’re shocked. That’s understandable. Let me show you to your room. Take a bath. Get some sleep. When you wake up, I guarantee you, you’ll feel a lot better. Hm? What do you say?”
Reluctantly, Sophia allowed Jay to guide her up to her room. They passed by a lot of doors and Sophia wondered just how many people lived here. Jay replied that it was about 30 but reassured Sophia that they didn’t have access to this part of the mansion.
“The only bedrooms here are yours and mine.”
It made Sophia only feel a little bit better. Earlier when she freaked out, Jay’s voice, his words, was what got through to her and calmed her down. She didn’t like the fact that this stranger had that effect on her.
Jay sensed she was about to say something so he quickly got a word in. 
“Don’t skip the hot bath, it’ll calm you down. I’ll drop by later to answer your questions, I promise.”
With that he opened the door for her and went inside his own room which was across from Sophia’s. 
Sophia stood there in front of the room, unable to step in. She took a few deep breaths and had to use all her willpower to cross the threshold. Inside, she examined the room. The last time she met Jinyoung was the summer before she went to college. It was 10 years ago but felt like yesterday when the tall man stood in her mother’s tiny living room. Sophia always wondered how her mother could afford to send her to Stanford seeing as they only lived in a small house outside of Seattle. Now she knew she received financial help from Jinyoung. 
Looking around some more, she realized it was all decorated to her taste. Well, to her taste 10 years ago. She had trouble holding back the tears that threatened to spill from her eyes. She always hated the man who made her mother miserable, who abandoned a child. Now she realized Jinyoung acted very selflessly. He cared enough about his family to not put them in harm’s way. 
Having checked out her room, Sophia was eager to discover other parts of this giant mansion. She slowly opened her door just to see that Jay's door was wide open too. He darted across the room, stopping in front of the door with his back turned towards it, quickly changing his shirt.
Sophia gasped silently when she saw the marks on his back and sides. Working in the ER, Sophia saw her fair share of knife cuts and GSW. Jay’s looked like they were old and seemed to have healed properly. She was in fact so preoccupied staring at his old injuries, Sophia didn’t even acknowledge his many tattoos. Now she definitely wondered what Jay’s role within the mafia was but scurried past his room when he walked out of it.

This is the second finished single cover from Gemini, being taken from the top right prototype single cover. This piece is nearly unchanged from it’s original pitch, having minor changes applied to fill space and such. I went with an abstract, paste look, which can be seen more presently in its earliest look. The work focuses on an eye, slightly turned to the left, no other details like the nose or mouth as present, leaving the emotion, conveyed solely through the eye and brow, to be taken into interpretation. I saw it as a sort of cocky, unbeatable stare, emotionless in it’s certainty of success, helped by the ye looking down at someone or something that we have no grasp of. Planets and stars swirls around the cornea and elsewhere as if the pupil is its own galaxy, a black-hole taking all that comes in it’s way. While its human, it also feels off, unnatural and confusing. The title track lays under its eyelid, streaks spreading down into nothingness at the edge of the piece.
The biggest problem of this piece isn’t that large in my view, as I think the piece is conceptually and visually sound, while it has a main colour it has enough variety that its not overpowering, your eye is drawn to the eye that leads you to the title and so on. The only thing I could see being a criticism is its biology. I didn’t reference a face while making it, because I just wanted to get into it and try, I believe that realism is second to understand-ability, if you see and eye, you see an eye, even if it looks off or unnatural, but that is my only true critique.
In my view, I think this is one of my strongest works to date, Its visually interesting and it feels larger than life through its posing, which I was inspired from my previous try at the cover as I wanted to make it feel larger through perspective, which I believe I achieved through this. It’s simplistic yet detailed and looks human enough to be understandable and to pass across its intent. The only other problem I had was no problem at all, that being its early colours. Originally, the dark purple used in its line work was far lighter. I wanted to go for a more colourful and bright piece, but the band preferred me to make it darker, which is fine as, after all, its for them and I do wish to please in my final products. This was quickly fixed with a colour overlay of a darker purple, and it was done.
And, the final problem was the band logo. They still have yet asked me to make them one, but for this I made a hypothetical logo for Asylum, which was quickly shot down, they didn’t say if it was bad of if they even liked it, they just told me to change it to “Lies,” which, due to poor communication, I had no idea why, but I am not one to judge what people want and did another piece of text for them saying lies.

I decided to translate my Kuroshitsuji fics because yes.
This was the third time a Kuroshitsuji fic was directly inspired by a nightmare I had - a pretty horrible one that I ironically thought straight away 'fuck this is aesthetically interesting'.
Warnings: This is a darkfic. It may be more symbolic/implicit, or not, but it mentions night terrors, PTSD, violence and sexual abuse.

Work Text:
When Ciel wasn't here was when he felt the most scared.
This time, he was alone in the dark place. He was too afraid to open his eyes, but somehow he knew where he was. As if he could see himself from above, looking down at his huddled form in vast space. It was a strange, large room that made him feel small and caged. Not a church; not a hallway of his house. Some mixture of both.
Where is Ciel?
There was a candle flickering nearby, just out of reach. The flame cast shadows on the walls, licking the frames of paintings that seemed to hang in the air, loose and floating. The blurred people in the paintings weren't wearing masks, but still he felt watched somehow, watched, looked down on the naked mound curled up on the floor.
The floor was wet. Something stirred in him sometimes. It tickled her leg. When she writhed against the burn on her back, he bit back a groan.
It was cold. Her skin was full of little goosebumps that made her feel like she was being stuck with needles.
Help-me.
He hugged himself tightly, curled into a ball to feel protection, to feel warm. Some of the things on the floor were crushed under him without meaning to. His palm resting on his chest, all he could feel was the pounding of his heart, holding him tighter with each moment in the here, the now, the pain, the terror. His heart continued to hammer against the bones of his rib cage, trying to leap out, hurting him more than the needles.
Where is Ciel?
His ears were deafened by the beating and pulsing of blood to his head, by the gentle stirring of the floor. Soft sounds began to approach, different, slowly. Still not clear, he knew they were voices hovering in the huge space.
So they came there.
All he wanted was to disappear, but just like his heart that continued to hurt him, his body continued to betray him with chicken skin that ached like needles, he began to bleed. His scent was heavy and immediate. He heard the hum and rustle of wings as the moths approached, far more trained and experienced in tracking him. It sent a jolt through his body, muscles twitching and hurting in anticipation, his body turning against him once more.
Where is Ciel?!
The metallic taste made him cough at the blood that slid down his throat as it ran from his nose, soaking the side of his face and the wet floor. She hurriedly tried to stop it, but the blood wouldn't stop. His cupped hand couldn't contain the strands of red, so he pinched his nose and closed his eyes. Maybe he could disappear like that. Make the blood stop, make the breath stop.
One smooth, hairy, sticky leg touched his shoulder before the other five landed properly on top of him. The touch was a thick, horrible needle digging into the tender skin, and all the air he'd tried to hold in his lungs was forced out of him. The flickering light of the candle faded under the flutter of wings, ready to go out.
She rolled up, staring at the ceiling she couldn't really see, the haunted pictures with the faceless people hovering in and out of the light before it finally went out. Now he had nothing but the growing, painful touches of the moths landing one at a time on him.
He heard something, something different.
The shadows approached slightly. He could barely move his head to look into the darkness, watching it take shape. They were neither a man nor a woman. Neither dressed nor undressed. It didn't have a face, but it wasn't a faceless picture.
Ciel?
- No.
The monster didn't make a sound as it moved across the floor. The moths didn't run away in fright as the monster moved its hand closer. Maybe they didn't. He cupped a hand over his left cheek just as a moth flapped its wings on his right.
Did they take Ciel?
- You have to be strong.
Yes .
The monster stuck two fingers in its mouth.
He choked, ached, screamed, burned, lost in a whirlwind of fleeing moths and wing slams, but as he vomited all the bile and rotten food - all the disease, all the terror - he felt something different. Outside. Finally out.
- You'll feel better.
Perhaps the monster hadn't actually spoken - it couldn't remember or imagine any voices. But he knew the words were true, for some reason. For some reason he trusted them; would feel better. He was feeling better, even coughing, even burning, he knew those horrible things inside him had come out and they were out of him.
The monster did nothing else. It rose and disappeared into the darkness. The moths scattered, confused, lost, if only for a moment.
He felt better.
The monster returned sometimes. Maybe it was his imagination. Maybe it was a nightmare. Maybe it was something he didn't know how to name because it couldn't—shouldn't—exist. The important thing was that what he felt was real. As real as pain, as real as fear. He wasn't afraid of it. If nothing but the darkness was willing to help him, he would accept it.

synopsis: being the younger sister of the miya twins definitely has its advantages and its... disadvantages. sure, it comes with all of the teasing from both them and their friends, but it gets more serious when people hold grudges on them and try to take out their anger on you.

“Osamu!” You screeched, attempting to push your older brother off of you. “Get him off!”
Atsumu had tackled you to the ground and was sitting on your back, cackling with satisfaction as he pinned you down.
“I can’t help ya.” Osamu smirked as he walked by. He sat on the couch adjacent to you and Atsumu with an amused glimmer in his eyes. “Shouldn’t have eaten his pudding.”
“Why do you care if I eat his pudding?!” You growled, thrashing around under Atsumu to get some kind of leverage while he sat on you with all of his weight, rendering your limbs useless.
“If you eat his pudding, then he eats mine.” Osamu shrugged, “And I hate it when he does that.”
“Take it up with him! I just grabbed whatever was closest. You guys are so weird with your labeled food!” You tried to throw a punch at Atsumu and he caught your fist easily, snickering when you let out a loud whine. “Atsumu, get OFF!”
“No can do, kiddo.” He grinned, “Ya know what happens when you eat our food.”
“I’m gonna tell mom.” You mumbled.
“That’s dirty. Don’t bring mom into this.” Osamu interrupted and you shot a death glare at him.
“Stop involving yourself! I don’t need your commentary.”
“Don’t be such a tattle tale.” Atsumu teased, finally easing up on you and taking a bit of the weight off of your back. You gasped dramatically as you could finally take a full, deep breath.
“Thank you, god. You’re heavy.” You said quietly, deciding to fully submit and just lay down on the living room floor.
“Did you just call me fat?!” Atsumu gasped, crawling over to your face to look you in the eyes.
“Yes.” You nodded. Atsumu immediately turned to Osamu, who burst out laughing at his offended expression.
“Laugh it up, ‘Samu. If I’m fat then so are you.” Atsumu muttered as he finally stood up to take a seat next to Osamu on the couch.
“I can’t stand either of you.” You mumbled, grabbing a pillow and throwing it at them.
“Why’s baby Miya throwing a temper tantrum?” A familiar, monotone voice was coming from the entry way. You hadn’t even heard him come in.
“None of your business, Suna.” You glared at the tall boy. He responded with a crooked smirk while he walked in with his hands plunged deep in his pockets.
Suna was over at your house almost every day. He also teased you as much as your brothers did, if not more.
“Jeez, what’s with the attitude?” He snorted, “You sound like Atsumu. I swear you’re triplets.”
Suna jumped over the back of the couch and plopped down between the twins. You sat up, looking at the three of them for a second before getting up and retreating to your room.
“Aw, come on baby Miya. Where are you going?” Suna called after you while you walked down the hallway.
“I need to get ready. I’m going out tonight.”
You retreated to your bedroom and sat down at your vanity. Before you could even pull out a hair brush, Osamu had burst into your bedroom.
“Where ya going?” He asked, leaning against the doorway.
“Out?” You replied, getting up to sift through your closet for something to wear.
Your friend had set you up on a blind date tonight. Your mom had held your brothers back a year and since you were only 10 months apart, you were all in the same year. This meant you all had the same classmates, knew all of the same people, and they were constantly in your business.
When your friend had told you about this guy, he sounded too good to be true. He had gone to another school that was a bit further away, but since you had all graduated a few months prior you figured a bit of distance wasn’t that big of a deal. After all, you were all adults now.
“Out where?” Atsumu asked, pushing the door open all the way and standing against the other side of the frame.
“On a date…” you muttered. The moment you said that, your brothers came in and promptly sat on your bed.
“Where are you going?”
“With who?”
“Where did you meet him?”
“How old is he?”
“Is he picking you up?”
“How long have you known him for?”
“Oh my god.” You groaned, pointing at your door. “Can you guys get out? I need to get ready. Why are you asking so many questions?”
“Believe it or not, kiddo, we just want to make sure you’re safe.” Osamu said, standing up and walking over to pat you on your head.
“Ugh, ‘Samu, you guys don’t have to treat me like a kid still. I’m an adult now, you know.” You said, crossing your arms.
“But you’ll always be our little sister.” Atsumu smiled. “Mom can’t keep track of all of us all the time. So we need to do it for her.” His words were genuine. Even though the three of you bickered and teased each other, you were protective of each other. You knew your brothers would do anything for you.
You’d never tell them, but you’d do anything for them, too.
“If anyone needs keeping track of, it’s you two.” You smirked. Atsumu rolled his eyes and Osamu shrugged you off.
Your brothers tried to pry more information out of you, but you only told them the bare minimum. After all, you barely even knew anything. You didn’t even know his name.
“So? Where’s she going?” Suna asked as the twins came back into the living room. He was sprawled out on the couch and flicking through the tv channels.
“That restaurant downtown. The one a few bus stops before your house.” Atsumu said with crossed arms. “She won’t let us drive her.”
“I’ll take the bus with her.” Suna shrugged, “It’s on the way, so I’ll make sure she gets there safely.”
“Good. Then you can tell us who she’s meetin’ there.” Osamu smirked.
Whether or not Osamu had asked, Suna was planning on finding that out regardless.
“Call is if you need anythin’!” Atsumu called to you as you walked to the door.
“We’ll come! Just call us, okay?” Osamu added.
“I’ll be fine, but thanks. I’ll text you when I’m on my way home.” You said loud enough for them to hear you in the other room. “Love you.”
“Love ya!” They replied in unison.
“Are you sure you’re not just spying on me?” You mumbled just loud enough for Suna to hear you from the seat behind you.
“Just decided to go home, baby Miya.” He replied, leaning forward. “Why? Do you want me to spy on you?”
“No!” You turned around and squinted your eyes at him. He looked back at you with a playful smirk and then went back to paying attention to his phone.
You got off the bus and hesitated for a moment, half expecting Suna to get off after you.
Except he didn’t.
You sighed, feeling the nerves creeping up and realizing you really were all alone now. Meeting a man you didn’t know, and unsure of what to expect.
You looked around and pulled out your phone to check the message from your friend again to refresh yourself on the characteristics of your blind date.
Dark hair, about 5’10, dark green eyes, ah-
“Miya, is it?” A man fitting the exact description was standing in front of you, a rose in hand and suspicious smirk across his lips.
“Yes, sorry, what’s your name?” Your voice was trembling and you had no idea why. You chalked it up to nerves, but it might’ve been the uneasiness you’d felt when you made eye contact with him.
“Daishou Suguru.” He said melodically. He handed you the rose and lightly pressed his hand to your lower back. “Shall we go inside? I have a table for us.”
You nodded, walking inside with him.

“So, Miya, any relation to those twins?” He asked, leaning in with his chin on his palm. He stared at you intently as if he wanted to soak in every word you were about to say.
“Oh, yeah. They’re my brothers.” You smiled. Even though they irritated you, you always liked to talk about them. You were proud of your brothers and all of their accomplishments, and talking about them was easier than having to come up with things to say about yourself.
“Ah,” Daishou nodded, thanking the server as she passed your dishes to the two of you. “Those two are real shit talkers, huh?”
“Yeah,” you laughed, a bit too casually for the occasion and realized you’d never even heard this guy’s name prior to tonight. “Wait, why do you say that?”
You were familiar with pretty much all of the volleyball players that your brothers had faced off against. Inarizaki’s own team were like family, but the other teams were around so often you’d gotten to know quite a few of the players from other schools just by going to the games and tournaments.
“Played against them once.” Daishou mumbled, the previously warm expression in his eyes was gone. “I don’t know which one I hate more. The mouthy setter or the spiker with the ego.”
You got goosebumps when he spoke these words. These weren’t normal rivalry grudges. This sounded like pure, unprecedented hatred.
You started to feel uncomfortable.
You hummed in acknowledgement. You weren’t sure how to reply, but you wanted him to know you’d heard him and were listening.
“So, how are you going to make it up to me?” Daishou asked. You froze, looking up at him.
His previously cold expression was warm again, cheeks round with a big smile. “I’m kidding.”
“Oh,” you giggled nervously and decided to focus on eating your dinner.
The rest of the evening went by okay. Little comments like that would have you unsure if there were ulterior motives, but when you’d try to look into it you’d see a happy smile from your date. Maybe he really was just joking, and was nervously trying to make you laugh.
When it was time to go, Daishou paid for the both of you and you left the restaurant together.
It was dark outside and pouring rain. You sighed, looking down the street at the empty bus stop. The bus wouldn’t be coming for another 20 minutes.
“Let me wait with you for the bus.” He smiled, wrapping an arm around your waist again. “I wouldn’t want you out here all alone.”
You reluctantly accepted but tried to keep your distance. While his arm was around you, your arms were crossed and you were trying to stay as far from him as possible. Something was off, and you wanted to get as far away from him as quickly as possible.
You sent your brothers a quick text to let them know which bus you’d be on.
“Let’s wait over here. Out of the rain.”
Before you could reply, he grabbed your hand and yanked you down a small alley. It was covered by the overhead of the buildings roof, but was pitch black.
“I had a nice time tonight.” Daishou purred, pressing his body against you and trapping you against the cold brick wall.
“Yeah, me too…” You said quietly.
Only a few more minutes.
Daishou leaned down, trailing his hand up your chest and wrapping his long fingers around your throat. Your breath hitched and you felt tears well up in your eyes. You knew something was wrong. You knew something was going to happen. Your gut feeling was never wrong.
You tensed up, preparing to punch him the moment you felt pressure from his fingers. Instead of choking you, however, his hand rested gingerly on your skin and he leaned down to kiss you.
You kissed back, completely uninterested but not wanting him to know that.
“So, you are easy.” He smirked against your lips. He grabbed your hands and held them against the wall. His tongue started to force its way into your mouth and as you tried to break away, his body pressed into you harder, making you unable to move.
“Please stop,” you whimpered, “I don’t- I don’t want this.”
“Just relax.” He dug his fingers into your wrist, holding both of your hands together with just one of his, and using his free hand to move down your body and fondle your chest.
“Daishou- I-“ you gasped when he bit down on your neck. It didn’t feel good at all, and was just a swearing pain.
“You know, it really is a shame that you’re related to those two.” He muttered against your skin. “You’re a pretty girl. Probably would’ve liked you had your shitty brothers not have been such dicks.”
“Please, please just get off-“ You sniffled. You fought your brothers all the time, so why couldn’t you get him off? Why were you tensing up? Why were you crying? Just push him off, just push and run.
“Shut up.” He muttered. He slipped his hand into your pants and you let out a sob.
“No, no! Get off of me! Stop!” You were crying now, your voice getting louder as you attempted to break from his hold.
Unfortunately, he was just too strong for you. He smacked you across the face and pressed his palm to your mouth.
“I told you to shut up.” He growled. “Blame the twins for this.”
You were sobbing now. Completely terrified as this man assaulted your body in this dark alley and all you could think about was how badly you wanted to get out of there. How badly you wished your brothers had spied on you, how much you wanted them to protect you in that moment.
Daishou glared at you as your wails got louder, pulling back and slapping you across the face so hard you thought you were seeing stars.
“That’s what happens when stupid girls like you don’t listen. Now be quiet!”
Your vision was blurred and dark and you thought you were about to pass out when you felt the weight of his body completely lifted off of you.
You immediately felt relief, not in the form of safety by any means but you felt like you could somewhat breathe again. The blow he’d given you to the head had you feeling dizzy and you sunk to the ground against the wall.
“You fucking-“ *whack*
“piece-“ *whack*
“of shit!” *whack*
You squinted your eyes open at the familiar voice. The same voice that had annoyed you earlier that afternoon. The voice that immediately gave you a sense of safety in that dark alley.
“Suna..?” You barely managed to squeak out. You were sure he didn’t hear you considering you could barely hear your own voice.
“You’re going to regret this for the rest of your life.” Suna spat, landing another punch directly to his face. “If you have issues with someone, take it up with them like a fucking man.” He growled. “Instead of preying on their little sister. You’re pathetic.”
Suna stood up off the ground and all you could do was watch through squinted eyes and your knees pulled to your chest.
He pulled something out of his pocket, it shined under the street lamps and you weren’t sure what it was. He grabbed Daishou by the collar of his shirt, forcing him to stand up before pressing the object against his throat.
“Give me one reason why I shouldn’t just kill you right here.”
You closed your eyes, covering your face in your arms when you heard Daishou start to sob. He sounded like you did a few minutes ago.
“I’d go to jail for her, no questions asked. Trust me when I tell you that I won’t hesitate.”
Suna was much bigger than him. Stronger. Taller.
“Hey,” Suna growled, pushing him against the brick wall. Daishou looked as light as a rag doll when Suna was throwing him around. “Answer me when I’m talking to you.”
“Please- I don’t- I’m sorry-“ Daishou choked out.
Suna laughed. A completely genuine laugh that made your skin crawl.
“Are you? Are you sorry?”
You looked back up at the two men, closer to you now and you could see that the object Suna had against his throat was a knife.
“Suna, wait-“ You tried to say to him, but your voice was still shaky and quiet.
Daishou was sobbing now, tears flowing from his eyes and wails ripping from his throat.
“Not so tough when you’re the one on the receiving end, huh?” Suna glared, putting his knife back in his pocket and throwing Daishou back onto the ground.
“Get the fuck out of here before I change my mind.” Suna said in a dark, low tone you hadn’t heard from him before. “And if you ever come near her again, I really will kill you.”
Daishou scrambled to his feet, holding his head and trying to stop the bleeding on his face that was surely from one of the rings Suna was wearing on his fingers.
You trembled against the wall, staring at Suna’s back as he watched Daishou leave. As soon as he was out of eyesight, he quickly turned to you and crouched down.
“Hey, it’s okay.” His voice softened, his gaze was kind and he hesitated before touching you. “Can I help you up? Can you stand?”
You nodded weakly and he crouched down, putting his arms under yours and standing you up. You could feel your legs wobbling and held onto his arm for support.
“Ugh,” He sighed, the pain in his voice coming through when he saw the true damage that’d been done to you. His hands carefully put you back together as best he could. He buttoned your shirt and pants back up, and shrugged off his jacket to put it on you instead.
You grabbed onto the sleeves and pulled them over your hands. It was even bigger than your brothers’ jackets, and you sunk into the soft material trying to grasp onto any little piece of comfort you could get.
Suna picked you up and held you against his chest. You wrapped your arms around his neck and he supported you from under your legs.
“How did you know where to find me?” You asked, your voice still quiet and strained.
“They told me what bus you were taking home so I came to make sure you got on okay. When it came and left without you I got worried and looked around, and then I heard you crying.” Suna let out a stressed out breath, “You know, I really would’ve done it.”
“I’m glad you didn’t.” You said, closing your eyes. You couldn’t even process what had just happened and didn’t know what you would’ve done if Suna wasn’t with you right now.

Suna’s house was only down the road, and you agreed to go there and get cleaned up before heading back home.
“Here,” Suna handed you a pair of comfortable pants and a t-shirt. “They’ll be way too long on you, but it’s better than your soaking wet clothes you’re wearing now.”
“Thanks…” you accepted the offer, stepping into the bathroom to change.
When you came out, Suna had changed too, but his eyes widened with shock when he saw the extent of your injuries.
He swore under his breath and approached you. When he reached out and touched your neck, his cool hand soothed the sting of the deep bite Daishou had embedded in your neck.
“Can’t believe he fucking bit you.” Suna’s voice was so quiet he was practically whispering, and you weren’t sure if he was talking to you or just thinking out loud. He trailed his hand around your throat and pressed his fingers on the deep bruises forming from when you’d been choked.
“That helps,” you sighed, leaning into his touch. Suna pulled his hand back as if he wasn’t even aware he’d been touching you.
“What do you want to do now? Should we call Osamu and Atsumu? Want me to take you home?” He placed his hands on your shoulders and continued looking you over. Suna brushed your hair out of the way, inspecting your face closely and grunting when he looked straight on at the black eye starting to appear.
You winced when his thumb grazed over the side of your head and he immediately pulled back.
“You were hit really hard. You should go to the hospital.”
You shook your head. “I don’t… I don’t want to go anywhere. Not right now, anyway.” You stepped over to his bed, sitting on the edge. “Can I just lie down?”
Suna nodded and pulled the blankets open, gesturing for you to crawl into his bed. He pulled the blankets on top of you and patted your arm.
“I’m just going to go into the kitchen to get a glass of water. I’ll shut the light off so you can rest a bit.”
The moment you couldn’t feel his presence in the room anymore, your mind travelled back to where you were earlier that night. Being attacked in a dark alley and suddenly you were feeling suffocated.
You sat up, gasping for air and Suna ran in, turning the light on and sitting next to you.
“Its okay, it’s okay,” He murmured, wrapping his arm around you and pulling you into him. He stroked your hair and let you cry out your fear as long as you needed to.
“I don’t…” You sniffled, “I don’t know what happened. When you left I just felt so scared all over again.”
“I’m sorry.” He said quietly, pressing his cheek against the top of your hair.
“Please don’t leave me alone.”
Suna nodded and stood up to go turn the light off again.
“Wait, where are you going?” You felt the panic start to take over again when the bed dipped down beside you.
“I’m right here.” His voice was kind. The Suna you’d known to always tease and annoy you had been replaced by something you could only describe as being your safety net.
Maybe this side of him was always here, and you just hadn’t ever noticed.
You laid back down beside him, moving close and nuzzling into his chest just like you had when he was carrying you. He wrapped his arms around you and softly trailed his hand up and down your back.
“I’ve got you, okay?” He whispered, “You’re safe with me. I promise. Just try and get some rest and we can worry about everything in the morning. You’ve been through enough tonight.”
You nodded and felt the relief wash over you. You knew you had a lot to deal with tomorrow, but having Suna by your side made it seem a little less scary.
Thinking back, he always was by your side. He would defend you when the twins would get too rough, and was definitely guilty of giving guys an intimidating glare when they’d try to hit on you.
You sighed, soaking in the feeling of his warmth.
You knew that from them on, you wanted nothing more than to be on his side.
And for him to stay on yours.

You were just waking up when Sherlock was moving around the bedroom trying to pack his overnight bag. You groaned at the noise of drawers being opened and hangers jostled and rolled over onto your stomach, propping yourself up on your elbows. “Sherlock? You’re leaving?”
He stopped in his tracks back towards the closet and moved to sit on the edge of the bed next to you. He looked down at you with fondness that so many people thought he was incapable of feeling and as always, it made your heart swell. Brushing a lock of hair behind your ear, you relished in his undivided attention.
“A case was brought to my attention. I won’t be gone for long, it’s a few towns over.” He insists, trying to ease your worries before they arise.
Although you’d miss him, it never did anyone any good when Sherlock was bored. He needed something to keep him occupied and you needed time to clean up the drywall shrapnel that constantly covered the couch due to the boredness. It would give you the opportunity to deep clean the flat and the idea wasn’t so bad.
“Is John going too?” Sherlock nodded. You don’t know why you asked, they always worked together.
You turned your head to kiss his palm and sat up to get out of bed. “Okay. I’ll make you breakfast before you guys leave. Nobody likes train food anyway.”
Sherlock moved to help you stand, one of the smiles he reserved just for you gracing his lips. “You take excellent care of me. But you should know, you don’t have to be useful for this to mean something to me.”
He caught you off guard, but he usually did when he read you like a book. Your whole life you’d made yourself useful and you weren’t sure if people liked you for you or for the fact that there’s nothing you wouldn’t do for them. You would do anything and everything for Sherlock and it didn’t have anything to do with being useful, honestly. You loved him dearly and you couldn’t imagine treating him like you felt anything less than that. You couldn’t help but kiss him.
“Omelettes or pancakes?”
Your shirt was soaked from washing the dishes and you smelled like a mixture of bleach and formaldehyde from scrubbing the fridge clean and removing the severed head that took up the space where your coffee creamer should be. You had done more loads of laundry than you could count, bleached the bloodstained tub from Sherlock’s latest pig quest, the entire flat smelled like Bahama breeze and you couldn’t be more content. The boys weren’t due back for a day or two so you figured you’d spend some time with Mrs. Hudson when you were done and see if you could meet up with Bucky and Greg for lunch. When you passed the kitchen on your way to your bedroom to change, you decided that this may be the only chance you ever get to clear off the dining room table. Sherlock’s science equipment had overrun it and you figured it wouldn’t hurt if you straightened it up just a bit.
You were in the midst of cleaning out Sherlock’s beakers when you heard the knock on the door. Figuring that John would have posted on his blog that they weren’t currently taking clients because they were on a case, you expected to see Mrs. Hudson and the mop she was letting you borrow. You cracked the door just enough to see who was on the other side and was surprised to see an older woman holding a plate of baked goods who wasn’t Mrs. Hudson.
“Hi... how can I help you?”
The woman in question’s eyes lit up at the sight of you and you weren’t sure why. She smiled and gestured to the platter in her hands. “Is Sherlock Holmes here?”
She must be a client, you thought. Shaking your head, you responded, “No, sorry! The boys off on a case. I’m a friend of theirs. Is there something I can help you with?”
She was looking past you into the flat and you weren’t sure what she was looking for. “Do you mind if I come in? I could really use a cup of tea. And I wanted to drop these cookies I made for Sherlock off.”
You looked at what she was holding and decided it wouldn’t really hurt to let her in, and the cookies looked amazing. Sherlock must have helped her in some way.
“Sure, come on in. Sorry about my clothes... I’ve been doing some spring cleaning.” You stepped aside and let her in. “So, are you a client of his?”
She went to place the platter on the table and you were excited that it was already worth cleaning off the table. “Not quite. I’ve known him his whole life and have loved him even longer.” She turned and smiled at you, seeing through you in a way that seemed eerily close to Sherlock.
You hummed, taking in her answer. Sherlock didn’t talk much about his friends, so you weren’t surprised that you never heard of her.
“Just a minute, I’m gonna change.”
You excused yourself to the bedroom where your phone was charging on the bed. After sending Sherlock a quick text that someone who wasn’t a client was here for him, you dug around in the closet for something clean and more appropriate.
The lady didn’t really seem like a threat and you were sure if it came down to it, you’d be able to protect yourself. You could chuck the skull on the mantle if need be, it was a hard hitter.
When you returned, she was wandering around the flat and looking at all of the pictures of you, Sherlock, and John that you’d recently framed and put out.
“You and Sherlock, you’re close, yes? Tell me about him. It’s been so long.” She was holding a picture that you took of you two in the back of a taxi. Sherlock was on his phone but you thought his hair looked extra good and the golden hour light made him look like an angel so you had to take the picture.
“Yeah, I mean. He’s a seriously great person. A brilliant detective, he’s so smart. He helps all these people for free, and he never complains if they don’t offer him anything. He hates when I tell him he’s a godsend but who else would do that? Um... he’s really funny, probably one of the funniest people I know. You just have to keep up with his humor. It can be kind of dry, but it’s there. He’s one of the most loyal people there is and he’d do anything for the people he cares about.”
It was so easy for you to speak so highly of him. It was like second nature.
“He can be stubborn sometimes, and he can be a little more blunt than he needs to be but... he’s amazing. There’s no other way to explain him, really. He’s got a light that comes from him that rivals the sun and I don’t think it could ever be dimmed.”
She turned back to you and slowly broke out into one of the biggest grins you’d ever seen someone wear. “You really love my son.”
“Your son?” You blinked, unsure of what was going on. You really started to look at the woman in front of you and you realized Sherlock had her eyes. A complete copy and paste. “Oh my God, you’re Sherlock’s mom. I never even introduced myself. I’m Y/N, a friend of-”
“You’re not his friend, dear, and I’m not blind. Old age takes a lot from you, but I could never miss the way my son shines. And you... you see it too.” She walked up to you, still holding the picture frame in her hands. “You love my son in a way that no one else has. Let me tell you all about him.”
You couldn’t stop laughing.
Sherlock’s mom had brought over tons of scrapbooks and old pictures that she had acquired over the years, and you had a feeling she knew you were here alone before she even knocked on the door. Mycroft, probably. You spent the whole day getting to know each other and taking a stroll down memory lane with her telling you all about Sherlock as a kid and how it was growing up with two geniuses as sons. She even gave you a copy of one of Sherlock’s high school pictures that you were going to cherish forever. She seemed so happy to have someone to talk to and assured you that spending time with you was the closest she had felt to Sherlock in a long time.
You insisted that she stay and let you make dinner, but she was as equally stubborn as Sherlock and ordered you takeaway as her treat. You tried to argue but she was having none of it. “My God, you scrubbed this whole flat clean. I’m not going to let you dirty your dishes. How does Chinese sound?”
Sherlock barreled up the steps with all the force he could muster in his legs and rushed in to see you, perfectly fine and all in one piece, having dinner with his mother.
“Sherlock!” You both exclaimed, his mother full of excitement and you full of worry.
“What’s wrong?” You ask, standing up from your end of the couch. “I thought you were on a case? Is everything okay?”
“I’ve been texting and calling you all day! You’re that daft that you couldn’t text back once all this time?” He’s still out of breath and he can feel his heartbeat in his ears. His tone is exasperated and you could hear the mix of anxiety and relief in his voice as he’d yet to acknowledge his mother. She seemed perfectly content to sit back and watch the situation unfold, amusement at her son’s unusual outburst gracing her features.
“My phone was dead! And then I put it on the charger and I forgot about it once your mom came, by the way!” You went to the bedroom and retrieved your phone to find a dozen missed texts and calls.

Sherlock followed after you, still without ever acknowledging his mother, and shut the door after himself. With his palms braced against the wooden door, he tried to ease the tension out of his bones through a deep breath as he watched you check your phone. He wasn’t worried about the case at all. It was mostly solved and what little was left John could do with ease. He felt the weight of the missed calls in his stomach like lead and the three hour train ride that he couldn’t curse to defy time any quicker. He had plenty of enemies and you had virtually none, so there would be no reason to think you’d hesitate to assist anyone who came to his door, especially if it was in the name of helping him. He thought he’d walk into a crime scene and he couldn’t shake those images out of his head.
You got up from the bed and walked over to him, reaching to wrap one arm around his neck and to take his hand in yours in the other. You pressed a kiss to his jaw, and then to his chin, over his eyelids, his nose, and then lastly you met his lips, murmuring “I’m sorry” in between every kiss. He didn’t usually voice it, but you had known him long enough to know when he was upset. He relaxed into your touch as he always did and you pulled away from him long enough to pull on the ends of his scarf. “I’m really sorry. I didn’t mean to scare you. Let me help. We got takeaway for your mom and I but we can share mine. I got what you like anyway.”
He let you pull his scarf and jacket off and you were delighted to see he wasn’t really mad with you. You hang his jacket on the closet door and by the time you turn back to face him, he’s already making his way back out to the living room. Following after him, you see his mother gesturing him to come over.
“What are you doing here? I thought I told Mycroft to tell you I was away on business.” He was messing with the cuffs on his sleeves but his question was directed at his mother with unmistakable intent. She tsked at him, and you began to see even more similarities in their mannerisms.
“That’s no way to talk to your mother, William. I was spending some time with your darling partner here and I don’t even get a kiss or a hug?” She began gathering her belongings and threw her purse over her shoulder. You weren’t happy to see her go.
You did peak up at the name. “William? Your name is William?”
Sherlock groaned, ignoring you completely. You swore you could see a blush dusting his cheeks. In no time he was at the door, holding it open for his mother. “It’s getting rather late, don’t you agree? Father must be wondering where you are. Be sure to pay Mycroft a visit the next time you’re in town. I assure you, he always has time for family.”
She turned to you and blew you a kiss. “I had a great time with you today, I hope you’ll manage to bring Sherlock home more.”
Walking over to Sherlock, she paused to kiss his cheek and whisper in his ear, “I know you know what you could lose here. So be sure you don’t, Sherlock.”
Before she totally stepped out of the flat, she turned around one last time. “Promise me you’ll come home soon. Your father and I miss you dearly.”
“I heard you the first ten times. Goodnight and safe travels, mother.” Sherlock shut the door before his mother could get another word and your shoulders slumped.
“Hey, that was your mom! She’s really nice. We had a good day.” You started to clean up the coffee table and take the dishes into the kitchen. You couldn’t understand Sherlock’s relationship with his family but you were sure there was a lot of things you didn’t know. Still, it was nice to have a chance to bond with your (maybe one day) future family. It was then that you realized that Sherlock never said anything when his mother mentioned you being his partner. You two never really officially defined what you were, so to see him not object to an actual title made you feel all warm inside.
“No, you had a good day. I was trying to work a case and clear a man’s name while trying to figure out if I’d come home to you kidnapped or dead.” Sherlock rolled his eyes, watching you from the doorway. You looked back at him as you dropped the dishes into the sink and let out a sigh. You hated the fact that you let him down.
“I have to go back tomorrow to tie some loose ends with John. If you come with me, I have a feeling I’ll get over it a lot quicker.” His voice was quiet but full of mirth. He won’t hold this over your head, and you both know this, but if it makes him feel better you’ll follow him. You’d follow him to the ends of the Earth and off the edge if he lead you.
Sherlock pushed himself off of the doorway and walked towards the bedroom, unbuttoning his shirt as he went.
“So, you’re staying home tonight?” You swung around the  kitchen doorway and called out to the hall. You hadn’t even thought about Sherlock having to go back, and you couldn’t help but be excited that he would be there for you to fall asleep next to tonight. 
“You didn’t expect me to make the trip back at this hour, did you? Besides, I sleep better with you and it’s obvious that I don’t focus well if you’re not around, Which is why I need you to come with me tomorrow. It seems you owe me, anyway.” Sherlock takes a step back so you can see him in the bedroom doorway, and you can feel your heart in your throat.
He’s so beautiful, you think, all alabaster skin and lean muscle. He’s pulling a t-shirt over his head and you wonder if you could manifest a photographic memory long enough to commit him to memory. Of course he notices you staring, and you almost want to mention all the times you catch him staring at you but he changes the subject and opens the blankets for you and you shut up and follow him. You follow him and you love him and you wake up in the morning at the crack of dawn to run downstairs and order coffee from the shop next door before your train leaves, being sure to get them to write “William” on the cup. Sherlock doesn’t find this funny at all, but he still lets you fall asleep on his arm on the train ride there and doesn’t complain when his arm falls asleep right along with you.
He thinks that if this is the life his mother wished for him as a child, that would be one thing he could take off of his list of things she eventually needs to answer for. Because mothers know best, and when it came to you, she could have never been more right.

I have no idea when i wrote this but i found it in my drafts half done so i finished it and- yh that's about it😅
This was meant to be based upon the song her world or mine but i got off track so its only loosely based upon it.

He hasn't used the truck for weeks, he had no reason to anymore, being in it only brought back memories of you. The long drives, the short drives too. The way you would hold his hand while he was driving or how you would remind him to pay attention to the road when he looked in your direction for too long. All the memories were fresh within his mind- almost as if it was yesterday. 
Even now, he was only sitting in it, he had to do the beer run and obviously that couldn't be done on a bike, he had to take the truck, but all he could think about was how you used to sit in the passenger seat beside him. He could see it in his mind so vividly, if he didn’t know you had moved on he would swear you were sitting with him. 
Looking at the dash his gaze caught the Polaroid photo that was still in its place next to the radio. Your face accompanied a smile whilst his had his usual ‘tough’ man expression, but if you looked close enough, you would be able to see a small smile placed upon his lips. You took it at one of the infamous Mayans parties, he remembered how it took you around 10 minutes to ‘convince’ him to take it, he wanted to take it from the moment you suggested it but he wondered how far you would go to get him to do it

“Please” you had been begging him for the last 5 minutes in attempt to get him to take a photo with you but to no avail
“No” you two were sitting on the bench outside the clubhouse, people surrounding the both of you, everyone was involved on their own conversations so neither of you paid any mind to them. Of course he was still aware of his surroundings but was more relaxed than usual
“But come on” you begged
“No y/n” he kept his face as straight as he could but you could slowly see a shadow of a smirk forming upon his lips
“Why?”
“No face no case” he shrugged with a slight smirk on his face, clearly that was a lie. Not even 20 minus prior you had taken a photo of all of the club members standing outside of the clubhouse per bishop’s request so he could frame it and hang it somewhere within the clubhouse to show off the members.
“Why are you so stubborn?”
“Why are you so adamant? “He questioned
“Because” 
“Because what?” standing up he motioned for you to do so as well,
“Just because”
“Come on follow me”
Standing up you took this hand as led you away from the party,
“Where are we going?”
“To take this god damn photo”

Recalling that night he felt a pain inevitably run across his chest, sure you two were only friends when it was taken but that night was the foundation for building the relationship you two once shared. 
Why had he been so stupid to let you go?
He knew he would have to drive past your place to get to the brewery, it was inevitable really. There was no other way unless he was going to drive an extra 30 minutes, which he didn't have time for.
when he reached the turn in to your street he slowed down a little, looking at your house from a distance he could see a car he didn’t recognize in the driveway. As he got closer he could see two people on the porch, he immediately recognized you accompanied by some guy. 
Of course you had someone else.

Sitting on the couch you couldn't help but let your mind drift back to him, you missed his smile, you missed the way he would have a running commentary while watching anything on the TV, you missed how he would hold you after a long day, you missed everything about him.
“You’re thinking about him again, aren't you?” 
You did nothing but hum in response
Your brother had elected to stay with you for a few weeks while he was on a business trip for some type of expansion for the company he worked for. Originally it was a good idea, it kept you mind off Ez, but the more time your brother was here, the more he talked about his wife back home and how he couldn't wait to get back to her just made you think about how you don't have someone in your life to look forward to anymore, you no longer had someone you could tell everything to, someone who would stay by your side, someone you knew would be waiting for you when you were away from home. As much as you loved your brother, you were thankful he was leaving tomorrow
“Im gonna go get a drink” standing up you heard your brother mumble something in response but you elected ignored him and heading to the kitchen.
As you approached the fridge you spotted the picture of you and Ezekiel stuck on the door. You were pretty sure it was Coco who had taken when him, you, Ez and Angel went over the border for a day because none of you had anything to do and for some reason Mexico was the first thing that was suggested. You had been meaning to get rid of it but couldn't bring yourself to. Alot of memories were collected between the four of you, some of them you were just not ready to let go of yet.
By now he was probably already in another relationship so why were you still holding on?
Grabbing a bottle of water you headed outside and sat on the porch steps. You knew there was a party at the clubhouse tonight, Angel had invited you to come, but you knew Ez would be there. 
Did you really want to see a girl all over him while you're still here alone? Because that would definitely happen
Maybe he wouldn't be there? Or maybe he would be too busy doing stuff to even realize you were there 
You were too wrapped up in your own mind to even realize your brother had stepped outside till you heard a creak from the wood behind you 
“Y/n?”
“Yeah” 
“you okay?" He asked sitting beside you
 “yep"
You two sat in silence for a few moments before he started talking once again
“I love you ye? Don’t let that boy ruin you. He lost you by his own fault. You did nothing” he rambled on about how you should have been treated better and how Ez lost the best thing he could ever have. But you knew he was wrong.
Ezekiel always treated you like a queen, your brother met him one time and barely spoke to him for longer than five minutes. As far as you were concerned you brother didn't know anything about him
While he was rambling you were looking into the distance, mainly just looking at the sky but you could have sworn you saw his truck drive past, but maybe you were just seeing things right? His truck wasn't the only one, there were probably millions of them.

The party was in full swing, people were everywhere, the room full of patches from all over. mass amounts of people from charters were visiting in celebration of a new deal with the sons, leaving Ez to tend the bar along with some hang rounds.
Wiping down the bar he couldn't help but think about you for the billionth time today. He knew you two broke things off but it didn't mean you had to leave everyone from the club behind as well as him.
"Bro what the hell is wrong with you?" Angel questioned
"Nothing" shrugging his shoulders he dropped the bar rag and turned to get angel a beer from the fridge behind him
"Stop lyin man, what's going on in that head?" Angel knew his own brother better then to believe 'nothing' was going on with him, something was always going on up in Ez's brain, even if he didn't admit it
"I dunno man, I just think it's weird how y/n left us you know?" Ez shrugged again, handing angel a beer
"She didn't leave us. She’s distancing herself. Got a lot of family shit going on right now" he explained, you kept Angel in the loop with everything, after all he was your best friend even before Ez and you got together, if Ez wouldn't tell you something- Angel would.
"Just think it’s weird" Ez repeated, messing with the bar rag once again
"Ya well she’s coming tonight”
Before Ez could respond coco stood next to Angel 
"Who’s comin?"
The brothers looked at each other for a moment before angel came up with an idea 
"Just some random bird for our boy scout to bed"
"My man," Coco chuckled "finally gonna get your dick wet huh?"
----
You knew this was a bad idea, you knew he would be here.

Opening your phone you sent angel a text
‘I'm like five minutes out but i swear to God if you abandon me tonight i will hit you so hard that you can't remember anything for a week’
At least he would walk in with you so you weren’t alone right?

Angel stood up abruptly in the middle of a conversation he was having
"Where the fuck you going?" Coco questioned, lighting a cigarette from the chair he was sitting in
"Meet a friend"
"A friend huh?"
"Yeah...maybe you'll like her" Angel replied before grabbing his beer and retreating towards the door.

Walking through the gate you saw the front of the club littered with patches. Some of them were from different charters. Weird, angel never mentioned other charters visiting, by the look of the outside, you could only imagine the clubhouse itself is packed with people.
Scanning the crowd you spotted the person in question walking towards you
“Hey stupid face”
“good evening stupid head”
“that's basically the same thing i just said” 
"oh shut up i couldn't think of insult fast enough”
Pulling you into a hug you couldn't help but feel a little more relaxed. Angel was always like an older brother to you, an annoying one at that but still a brother.
It had been weeks since you saw him, being back in his company made you feel safe again, almost like a sense of home
He placed a kiss on your temple “We missed you here”
“Yeah, I know” letting him go you looked around, mainly to see if any of the other guys were in sight but also to see if coco was around, expecting to be attacked as per usual. 
Angel took notice of you scanning the crowd “He's inside”
“Hmm? Sorry I got no idea what you're on about”
Pulling you into his side he wrapped an arm around your shoulders “sure ya don't”
Walking inside you scanned the crowd once again, thankfully coco was nowhere to be seen for the moment and most of the guys were spread out around the room. Bishop and Taza were playing pool, Gilly and Creeper were sitting at the table in a conversation whilst hank sat opposite them looking at something on his phone, Ez was tending the bar like usual but this time he was accompanied by some hang rounds.
At least there isn't girls hanging off him yet 
“C'mon let’s get a drink huh” angel lightly shoved you towards the bar playfully.
“No”
“No?” his eyebrows raised playfully
“No and if you try to make me go over there with you i promise i will embarrass you” you laughed 
“Fine”
After he got the drinks you both sat at a table in the corner for a while talking, the majority of the topics were about what had been happening while you were distanced from everyone.
Eventually Coco spotted you two and joined in the conversation. you sat talking to the two of them while everyone else was up to their own things, you didn't mind, the both of them combined made for some very interesting storys, the conversation could never die. After around 10 minutes, Angel had left you two alone saying he “wasn't bout to listen to this shit ''- which was super ironic considering the topic of conversation was about modifications for a new bike coco had brought a few days ago
“How does your bike handle anyway? I heard they are bottom heavy and hard to manoeuvre sometimes” you questioned. overtime Ez had taught you some things about bikes, mainly when he was just rambling about random things not thinking you were really paying attention to what he was saying
“It’s alright i guess, sometimes it slips when I lean too far on corners, other times it tends to not wanna go the way I need to but other than that it handles pretty well, arms hurt like a bitch after long ride though” he explained
Nodding your head you understood where he was coming from, having your arms at that angle for hours must have taken its toll
“Ay '' he nodded his head towards someone behind you, Turning your head you saw it was Ez walking through the door with Angel, seemingly engrossed in some type of conversation they were having.
Despite spotting him earlier you only scanned over his appearance but now you actually took a good look at him, he looked different, not much but still different from before. His hair was in the same style but it little more grown out then usual, his facial hair had grown out a little too. His eyes had bangs underneath them and his face looked drained.
All in all he looked like shit.
“You know he’s not the same without you right?” bringing your attention back to coco you couldn't help but feel like you were to blame, maybe if you fought harder of him you two would have never split.
“You two spoke since?” he questioned
“Nope...I got a few drunk calls saying he was sorry but other than that. No” you shook your head. 
After you two first broke up he called you around a week later rambling about something but since he was slurring his words- you could barely understand anything he was saying. You got about 2 voicemails of him saying he was sorry and how he fucked up but- you never spoke to him, never texted him back when he would ask you if you were coming to one of the parties.
“The amount of times we've had to stop him from drunk calling you is unreal”
Playing with the label on the beer bottle in front of you, you thought about what coco said- clearly Ez had attempted to talk to you at some point, but why? The whole breakup was because he needed “space” to deal with some things so why was he trying to talk to you?
“He wanted space, I gave it to him” you shrugged, slowly peeling off the label
“Didn’t mean you had to leave us too” looking up from the bottle you saw coco was now avoiding your gaze
“Yeah...I know” maybe it was wrong of you to drop everyone, but being around them would have only brought back memories of you and Ez. At the time it seemed like a good idea to distance yourself from all of the guys, but now, despite only being here for a hour, you could tell how much you really missed being around them.
“You know he’s walking over here right?” Dropping your head onto the table you let out a sigh causing coco to laugh “I’ll leave you two alone huh?” lifting your head up you looked at him with a facial expression as if to say ‘don’t leave me’ but he did anyway
“Y/n” his voice was low, almost as if he didn’t believe he was saying your name again
“Ezekiel”
“Can we talk?”
“We are talking” sitting up straight you turned in your seat to look at him. He looked even worse up close- the bags under his eyes were alot darker then they seemed from a distance, they made it appear like he hadn’t slept for days, you couldn’t help but notice he had a bruise slowly forming on top of his right eyebrow.
“What happened there?”
He looked confused for a moment till you pointed to his eyebrow
“Oh I erm…got into a fight.....with a wall” his eyes were trained onto the floor, almost like he was ashamed.
You hummed in response not sure how to respond without laughing 
“So how have you been?” he questions
“Good i guess..how about you?”
“Alright I suppose”
What followed was nothing but silence between the both of you, neither of you knowing what to say. The sounds of other people talking and rock music became almost deafening as the two of you stayed silent
“Well this got really awkward fast” you spoke up causing Ez to laugh a little
“Yeah..yeah it did” he nodded
After a few more moments you stood from your chair “I'm just gonna-”
“Yeah go, i get it go ahead” he finished your sentence for you.
Nodding you quickly made your way outside, the yard was almost empty by now, people had either left for the night or had moved inside.
You spotted Angel sitting on the front steps fiddling with one of the rings on his hand while looking at something in the distance. You sat beside him in silence, neither of you even attempting to make conversation but simply just being trapped within your own minds.
When you and Ez broke up you knew things would change, you knew the two of you probably wouldn't be able to have the same conversations you would before, but you never expected them being so awkward.
Maybe it was just because the wound was still pretty fresh, after all it had only been just over a month
After a few minutes you heard the door behind you open as someone stepped out, seconds later a figure sat next to you, looking over you saw it was coco
“What we doin? havin a lil moment to yourselves” he asked lighting up a cigarette and offering the both of you one
“Yep” Angel responded, taking one and lighting it before looking somewhere in the distance once again. All three of you sat for a few minutes just looking at seemingly nothing in particular.
Maybe it won't be like this forever? At some point there has got to be a time where you can come to the club without feeling awkward because ez’s here.
You heard the clubhouse door open once more behind you and once again, you didn't turn around, but coco did
"Ay man sit" you heard him say as he snapped his fingers at space left beside him to whoever stepped out from the door. It didn't take long for whoever it was to sit down.
Much like he did with you and Angel, Coco offered the person a cigarette which they must of silently declined from the lack of verbal exchange.
There has to be a point when you and the club can all hang out together like before....there has to be a stage where you and Ez can talk like normal people without it being awkward….right?
Seemingly out of no were Coco spoke up, nodding his head towards two stacked benches on the opposite side of the yard "You think i could clear those in one attempt?"
Angel was the first to respond "Absolutely fucking not" he paused for a moment- looking where the benches were stacked "but I'd love to see you try"
"I bet $50 you fail and fall face first" someone spoke up, looking to your left you finally realized who stepped out earlier ..Ezekiel
"Bet, ill prove you wrong" coco stood, taking off his kutte and placing it on the stair rail "you two wanna place any bets?" Coco looked at you and Angel
"Nope, I'm good" you shook your head
"I bet $50 that you don't clear it" Angel responded
"You have no faith pretty boy" coco responded, shaking his head  as he started to walk over to the benches
"This is going to end in a hospital trip" you stated making both Angel and Ez laugh
All three of you watched as coco seemed to examine the height of the two benches, planning the distance he would have to run to gain enough speed to propel himself over them and how he would land the jump
"You think he's gonna snap his nose again?" Ezekiel questioned
"Definitely" both you and Angel replied
All three of you watched as coco began to run towards the benches, from your angle it looked as if he could clear it....you were wrong. 
Seconds later coco was laying face first in the dirt, one leg was on the floor while the other was stuck in a piece of wood on the bench that had broke underneath his weight
"I think i broke my nose" you heard coco exclaimed causing all three of you to laugh. The few people who were still outside drew their attention to the scene and started laughing too when they realized what happened.
"Ill go get some paper towels" you said, still laughing.
Maybe this was a sign nothing had changed between the four of you, that you could all still hang out and do stupid stuff like before
Maybe nothing has to change

"I don't know about this." You say to Hwasa, tugging on her arm as she tries to walk into the club. 
Your dress is tight, and you feel overly uncomfortable in something so revealing and your heels, especially since you are not small. You are a bigger girl, with a stomach, thick thighs and curves. You have rolls when you sit down, and stretch marks radiating up your sides. You're not like the kind of girls who go to these clubs and it was severely affecting your confidence. 
"Ayn." She smiles. "I promise it'll all be okay. You don't have to do anything you don't want to do." 
With a sigh you nod your head and Hwasa takes your hand leading you inside the club. The music was loud, you could feel the bass thumping on your feet as you walked towards the bar. Your eyes wandered as you were being led by Hwasa. Rich looking men in suits that had become untucked, their sleeves rolled up and collars loosened. They made sure to show off their watches, flashing the expensive ones, not a care in the world here. Most of the men were surrounded by women, some looking quite cozy, but some looking rather uninterested in what their company had to say. 
As you sat down at the bar and ordered a glass of wine, your eyes continued to wander, especially over to a group of men who were by themselves. 
"Those guys rarely find anyone here." Hwasa says, leaning over to whisper in your ear. "They are a few of the most wealthy men and their tastes are very particular." She finishes, sitting back up to take a sip of her wine. 
Not even five minutes later a man approaches Hwasa, asking her if she wants to dance. She looks at you, making you roll your eyes. "Go." You laugh. 
"Are you sure?" She asks. 
"Get out of here, I'm fine." You assure her. 
She takes the man's hand, and heads out to the dance floor. You watch her as she laughs, her head thrown back, the man's eyes watching her intently and in awe. You can already tell he's smitten with her, and they just met. 
You turn back around, and take another sip of your drink, when you feel a warm presence behind you, someone pressing himself against you. You turn around slightly, and see a man with a smirk on his face. He backs up, looking at you and then down to his crotch which very clearly proved he had an election. 
"Want to take care of this for me?" He asks, tilting his head to the side. 
"No." You flat out say, going to turn yourself back around, when he grabs onto your arm, his grip tight as he squeezes your wrist. 
"C'mon sweetheart, don't be like that." He grunts, his eyes wide, motioning down to his crotch. 
"I said no." You yell, trying to shake him off your arm but he tightens his grip. 
You can see his face begin to go red as he begins to get angry at your refusal. You try to fight him off more but he won't let go. He raises his other hand as if he was going to slap you. You closed your eyes, bracing yourself for the impact but it never came, and suddenly your arm was free. You open one eye and see the man on the floor, with another man shaking his fist. 
"She said no, fucking respect that." The man yells, giving the man on the ground a swift kick to the ribs. 
"Are you okay?" He asks. 
"Um, yeah.. I'm fine. Thank you." You whisper. You go to turn back around, wanting to leave this place and never let Hwasa convince you to do anything ever again. 
"Would you like to join me at my table?" He asks, causing you to spin back around, mid sip of your cocktail. You try to swallow but slight choke as you nod your head yes  "Sure. I would love to." You sputter, trying to wipe the remnants of your drink from your chin. 
You grab your drinj and follow the man to a table, the table that Hwasa had said before was very particular. 
"Chanyeol this is.." he pauses, motioning to you to speak. 
"Ayn. L/N Ayn." You say with a smile. 
"I'm Park Chanyeol." He smiles, gently shaking your hand.
"And I'm Johnny Seo," He smiles. He eyes trail down your body before going back up to make eye contact.  
"Nice to meet you both." You smile, sitting down on the edge of the couch. Your eyes dart from Johnny to Chanyeol then back to Johnny, but his eyes haven't left you for a moment. You nervously take a sip of your drinj before turning your head and really look at him. 
Fuck, he's absolutely beautiful. His combed brown hair perfectly frames his face, his smile radiates through the entire club, and from what you can see from under his dress shirt, he had a nice body. As much as you tried to ignore it, the feeling that you didn't belong radiated through your body, filling your brain up with possible situations or words that could possibly be said to you. And it made you nervous. Johnny leans over, his lips hovering beside your ears. You can feel his hot breath radiating down your neck. "You are beautiful." He whispers. Your face immediately turns red and hot, a blush forming against your will. Before you can respond, Hwasa runs up to you, grabbing your wrist. "Ayn." She panics. "We have to go. Now!" She yells, yanking on your arm to pull you up. 
"Oh." You partially panic. You sort of toss your glass down and stand up, Johnny's eyes on you. "I'm sorry." You say to him before Hwasa pulls you harder. "Thank you." You mouth before turning your head to watch where you're going. 
A few minutes later you and Hwasa are outside and down the street from the club. You both stop, your hands on your hips as you both catch your breath. Running in heels is not an easy task for anyone. 
"What the hell?" You whine. "Did you see that fine ass man in there?" 
Hwasa laughs. "I'm sorry, Ayn. That guy I was dancing with, oh my god. He was fucking weird. Talking about going back to his mom's house, and how we can be loud because she's partially deaf. I needed to get out of there." 
Your mouth hangs open as Hwasa describes the man she had been flirting with. You burst out laughing at her misfortune, the roles finally having reversed on the two of you. 
"Now you know what I go through most of the time." You joke. You both begin walking back towards your apartment, linking arms as you keep a casual pace, talking and laughing, completely forgetting about Johnny, he was something that likely would have never happened for you anyways. He was a dream that would never have come true.

The next day, you went about your day, the thought of Johnny never crossing your mind. You went to your classes, and after that you headed to your part time job at a Taco Truck. It was perfectly located on a very popular beach, and everyday the truck made a killing and you made minimum wage, which is partially why you had shown up at the club last night. You knew it was a club for sugar daddy's to meet potential sugar babies, and you had thought that maybe you'd meet someone to help you out while you got your masters in Child Psychology. But part of you was happy that things ended up the way that they did, you now wouldn't have to suffer any disappointment of him deciding you weren't worth it, and you didn't have to waste his time realizing he should have picked someone else, in the long run it worked out for both parties. 
With a smile you handed the last person their order, not even looking at the person next in line. You held your pencil and the small notepad you kept in front of you as you let out a big yawn. "Excuse me." You said, clearing your throat. "Welcome to Tacos, Tacos, Tacos, what can I get for you today?" You ask.
"Umm, three of your beef Tacos, and a chicken  Taco please." You hear. Your eyes squint as you try to place where you've heard that voice before. You write down the order, continuing to rack your brain on why it sounds so familiar. You look up and are face to face with Park Chanyeol. He smiles at you, recognizing you immediately. 
"Ayn!" He yells, holding his arms up. "You work here?" He asks. 
"Unfortunately." You laugh, scrunching your nose. 
"How much do I owe you?" He asks, grabbing his wallet. 
"$13.5." You announce. Chanyeol hands you a twenty, telling you to keep the change with a wink, which puts a smile on your face. "It'll be out soon." 
As Chanyeol steps away from the truck, he whips out his phone, dialing a number. You can only hear bits and pieces of the conversation, but you do catch the most important part. "She's here." He says. "That taco truck that we're both obsessed with." He laughs. "Yeah that one." You wave to him, hanging his bag out the window to let him know his order was ready. He hangs up his phone, grabbing his food and waving goodbye to you. 
An hour later, you're told you can go home for the day, and honestly you're relieved as fuck. You're tired, your feet hurt and you just want to go to sleep before you head back to campus tomorrow for another full day of classes and then another seven hours at the food truck. 
Wow your life was so exciting.

The next day you're walking through the psychology building, heading to your next class. You're on your phone texting Hwasa about how dumb your last professor was, when you hear someone clear their throat behind you. 
"You're a tough woman to track down." 
Your head shoots up as you swing your body around. You see Johnny standing there, a smile on his face. Your eyes trail down his body, his suit fitting perfectly to his body, making you want to cry, drool and cream all at the same time. 
"Why are you looking for me?" You ask, tilting your head to the side, making him laugh. 
"You left so quickly the other night. We never got a chance to talk, have a drink or anything." He says, walking closer towards you. 
"What do you want to talk to me about?" You ask. 
"I want you to be my baby." He grins. 
"Your baby?" You stutter. "Why me?" You ask. 
"Why not you?" He rebuttals. 
"Let's talk. Tonight." He says. 
"I work." You tell him. 
"Food truck?" He asks. 
You nod your head. 
"What time are you off? I'll pick you up." 
"9pm." You say. "But you don't.. " you trial off. 
"Perfect. See you then.. " he pauses with a grin. "Baby."
