coming on here to quickly rant abt remadora. Okk yess I know ‘another wolfstar shipper shitting on remadora’ here me out okay!!! Just for a sec!! I read the Harry Potter books for the first time back in 2017 and remadora was my shit. Remus was my second favourite male character and tonks was my second fave female character. (Harry and cho were my first faves — yes I self inserted into Harry and had the biggest crush on cho — yes I cried when they broke up — shut up we all had our embarrassing phases!!)

Anyways back to remadora, I just thought they were so cute together, even tho it felt a little random. But one thing that I remember that really pissed me off was the ship name. I never understood why it was ‘remadora’ and not ‘ronks’. Tonks hated being called Dora!! I remember ranting abt this on my Wattpad acc (yes I know SHHHH) when I was reviewing all the Hp ships.

I don’t ship it anymore (obviously lol) and looking back, I think my issue with the ship name is lowkey symbolic for my key problem with remadora — it basically removes everything that made her interesting in the first place and reduced her to just Another Woman Character in the series. When she got with Remus, she became more mellow, more feminine, more complacent — which are fine traits btw — but that’s not tonks!! Now as I’m older, and re-reading the series, I see a lot of subtext for a gender non-conforming and possibly genderqueer person forced into a heterosexual relationship simply becoz jo didn’t want ppl thinking Remus was gay and coz she had this weird thing abt all ‘good’ women being mothers.

Which brings me to tonk’s pregnancy — I wouldn’t mind a storyline for tonks having a child — I just hate how jkr had to fit it into this whole nuclear family model and get her and Remus to get married. I feel like a more compelling, or at least consistent characterisation would have tonks having a one night stand with Remus after they were both mourning their cousin/uncle/lover’s death. Shit happens sometimes. And it would be interesting to see Tonks and Remus grapple with this and what it means for their child.

Another head cannon I saw on tik tok was that Tonks had a threesome with Fleur and Bill and since polyamory wasn’t socially acceptable she asked Remus to be the stand in legal father — and ofc Remus would say yes coz he’s Remus!! This hc sounded wild to me at first but they all gave me queer vibes and it just makes me happy so now this is the headcanon I stick with lol.

Anyways not every woman has to have a husband and 2-3 kids to be a good person jkr!! Families are complex! Women are complex! And Tonks deserves better imo.

P.s. if you ship remadora that’s completely okay!! This is just my opinion!! I’ve seen remadora shippers who don’t water down tonk’s character/subtextual queerness — I just hate how jkr depicted the ship in canon.

& as far as dorcas goes. well the main reason that she does not want 2 get married & get pregnant is that she's a lesbian lol. like gay marriage does not exist within pureblood culture in this fic (& even if it does she might not want 2 get married) & she doesn't wanna get pregnant partially bc she doesn't wanna have the kind of sex that would lead 2 pregnancy but also bc she simply. is a person who does not want 2 get pregnant ever like even if she was w a gf who could get her pregnant she wouldn't wanna have a baby lol. so i mean all that is just part of her character in this fic.

however there is indeed some stuff going on w dorcas aside from all that so. currently i am planning 2 reveal eventually what's up w her...unless of course i change my mind & take the fic in a different direction etc. but yeah glad the hints r being picked up on etc...glad i have successfully managed 2 plant the seed of "hey is something going on w dorcas" lol

ooooo, ok. so ravenclaw barty (bc im starting with the question). I honestly like it. I feel like he's both sytherin and ravenclaw (like me) and i honestly like him in both houses. ig sytherin is a little better for him but honestly i still like him in both. idk why it just feels kinda right?? (and he still gets cute moments with evan in both houses so i cool with both lol)

hmmmm... a headcanon of mine..... i'm gonna stick to the marauders fandom bc why not. one of my fav headcanons is just soft reggie. like just for james. he's srsly so adorable and he loves to cuddle with his bf (even tho he's to embarrassed to ask at first so james just kinda pulls him into a hug/kiss every time he senses reg doesn't wanna ask and reg gets all flustered. he does get comfortable with it eventually tho). another one of my fav headcanons is abt wolfstar. I feel like siri is the one who stays with rem after every full and they just snuggle and enjoy each other. even before they get together (rem is so scared of ruining everything by confessing so he just holds it in bc he just loves siri so fucking much that it physically hurts him to even think of losing him.) anyways one day after the full they're chilling on rem's bed and siri just whispers i love you bc he needs to say it and they both just freeze. siri apologizes over and over and rem is just kinda stuck on the fact that siri actually said i love you?? to him?? and then he registers that sirius is crying so he just kisses him before he can think abt it. it ends well ofc. (i feel like these aren't rly headcanons and they're just little random stories but we're going with it for now lol)

Hello my name is Ace and this is me brain rotting a marauders voldemort wins au with wolfstar starchaser and nobleflower

btw this fic is going to have three parts (volumes?? books?? idk) and this is mostly just what I have planned for the first one

So imagine a world where Voldemort wins the war but the war happened before The Marauders were born.

So basically The Marauders have always lived in a world where Voldemort is in charge and purebloods are superior.

Muggles know that magic exists and when muggleborns start showing signs of magic they immediately go on a registry and are taken away from their families because they’re seen as “stealing magic”

Any purebloods or halfbloods that are caught or seen going against Voldemort get arrested and are mostly made to work for Voldemort as his castles staff and thats how a lot of our main characters have ended up.

Voldemort has taken over Hogwarts and now lives there. The old classrooms have been turned into guest bedrooms and other various rooms and the common rooms/dorms have been stripped of everything that made then habitable and are where the staff/prisoners live.

In the old Slytherin common room is where the halfbreeds are kept (they’re supposed to only be allowed out when they’re needed)

Oh yeah also the staff are also the Order and are secretly planning a rebellion and trying to find ways that they can take Voldemort down from the inside.

context out of the way lets get into the plot

So Narcissa Black is set to marry Lucius Malfoy and they're having the wedding at Hogwarts so every important pureblood family are staying at the castle for the event.

Out of these families are of corse the Black family.

Upon hearing the the Black family will be coming, during an Order meeting James, Remus and Alice decide to make a bet on who can shag one of the Black cousins first

Because Voldemort is cocky and doesn't have as much control over his staff as he thinks he does. Also James, Alice and Remus are cocky and think they can each have relations with a member of the Black family without shit hitting the fan.

So Remus goes for Sirius and they immediately fall in love. Like love at first sight, they feel like they’ve known each other their entire lives type shit.

The Black cousins are close in this fic so Sirius obviously tells Regulus about Remus and Regulus tells Sirius to stop seeing him.

Sirius is confused because he was almost certain that Regulus would be happy for them

BUT (and heres the plot twist) it’s because Sirius and Remus have met before and they had their memories whipped.

SO a few years ago Remus used to live with his mother, step mother, two brothers and two step sisters and they lived near the Number 12 Grimmauld place.

Sirius and Remus ended up meeting one day and fell in love. Remus met Regulus and became friends with him also and it was all great until Bellatrix found out while she was visiting her cousins.

Now in this fic Bellatrix is a villain and is completely insane but she cares about her family and uses her love for her cousins and wanting to keep her cousins and sisters safe as an excuse for her actions.

Because she knows what will happen to Sirius if he gets caught being with a halfblood she decided to obliviate both Remus and Sirius and send Remus to Hogwarts where he was then bitten by Greyback and made to believe that he was born a werewolf and has always lived in Hogwarts

Regulus somehow ended up keeping their memories and locking them in two rings.

So when Remus and Sirius wear the rings they have their memories back.

Regulus gives Sirius his ring and explains everything after Sirius finds Regulus with James and calls him a hypocrite and is so mad that Regulus things that Sirius will hate him forever if he doesn't explain.

Immediately after Sirius gives Remus his ring and Remus gets all of his memories back.

Unfortunately though theres not much they can do about their situation beyond that. Even with his memories back Remus still can’t just leave Hogwarts and be with his family again and now that Remus is a werewolf theres even more of a reason on why they aren't allowed to be together.

Sad times for Wolfstar.

ANYWAYS MEANWHILE WITH STARCHASER

James is a fuckboy and is highly confident that he will win the bet.

Until he doesnt because Regulus is a little shit who is hard to get. (and he knows through Sirius what could happen if he does allow himself to be with James)

James actually comes last in the bet but he’s not one to give up so he makes it his mission to seduce Regulus Black.

Now don’t worry James doesn’t harass Regulus or anything he respects his decision theres just a lot of shameless flirting that he doesn’t actually mean because he’s just trying to prove to Remus and Alice that he can get a member of the Black family to sleep with him like they did.

However as time goes on James slowly starts to fall in love with Regulus and Regulus starts to fall for James.

I’m starting to realise that I just explained the plot to the After--

Don’t worry this will be better then After... Hopefully.

ANYWAYS ONTO NOBLEFLOWER

So Alice is at a disadvantage because Narcissa is literally set to get married. But its either her or Bellatrix so she’s taking what she can get.

Alice and Narcissa hit it off pretty quickly and at first it is just sex but as time goes on they start to open up to each other and Narcissa realises just how much she hates her life.

Alice is the #1 Narcissa supporter and tries to teach Narcissa that she doesnt hve to live like she is

Only Narcissa does have to live like she is because if she doesnt shell end up in the same situation that Alice is in and could put her entire family in danger.

A lot of back and forth between these two but they get their feelings out in the end

Just in time for Bellatrix to find out about them and torture Alice on the morning of the wedding

Im going to leave it there because I have plans for Narcissa in part two but part one ends with the wedding and I’m still trying to figure out what everyone else will be doing in part two.

Aside from our three main forbidden romances we also have two other storylines to get through.

LIKE DORCAS, who is one of Remus’ step sisters.

(I have this thing where in nearly all of my fics Remus and Dorcas are step siblings. Idk why but i like it so just go with it)

The family were told that Remus was killed but wasn’t given a reason why.

Because of this Dorcas is in her serial killer era and is going round killing important purebloods

At the beginning of the fic she’s in Ireland and has killed the entire of the McKinnon and Bone family, apart from three.

Edgar Bones is at Hogwarts because he was arrested and Amelia and Marlene weren’t with their families at the time because they were in the woods having a Jo and Laurie moment.

Amelia is in love with Marlene but Marlene turns her down.

After Marlene leaves Amelia heartbroken in the woods Dorcas approaches her.

While killing the others Dorcas took note of the absence of Edgar, Amelia and Marlene and after finding Marlene and Amelia in the woods she figured that Edgar must’ve been taken at some point.

Dorcas figures that she could use some help and asks Amelia to join her and Amelia agrees

(Obviously the main way to go about this would be Dorcas and Marlene slowly falling in love but as much as I’m in love with Dorlene I don't know how I would go about making that happen exactly considering Marlene does go to Hogwarts with the ther purebloods and Dorcas won’t see Marlene again until halfway through part two at the earliest)

(It might be interesting to mix things up a bit and have Amelia and Dorcas be a thing but i don’t know how people will feel about that. Overall I don’t really have a set plan for Marlene, at this point the only reason why she doesn’t die with her family is because I know people will have my head if I kill Marlene off before Chapter five)

Dorcas and Amelia spend the entire of part one killing people and scaring the shit out of everyone while making their way towards Hogwarts where they will kill Voldemort and end his reign

Along the way they meet Benjy who goes looking for them because he wants to join them

He also tells them that he wants their help to break his boyfriend Caradoc out of Hogwarts and they agree.

MEANWHILE BACK AT HOGWARTS we have yet another forbidden love but this time with Edgar and Emmeline.

As stated before Edgar used to live in Ireland with his siblings and close to the McKinnons. While this was going on Emmeline was living with the McKinnons after her father and two younger brothers were killed.

Emmeline and Edgar used to be really good friends until Edgar was arrested.

Emmeline goes with Marlene to Hogwarts for the wedding and while she’s there she runs into Edgar.

Edgar isnt too happy to see Emmeline because she was the one who told on him and got him arrested.

So while we have Wolfstar, Nobleflower and Starchaser having their forbidden romances we also have Edgarline having a very special enemies to lovers forbidden romance.

Now I know that Edgar and Emmeline is a very unpopular ship but trust me they’re cute.

IN TERMS OF EVERYONE ELSE IM A BIT LOST ON WHAT TO DO WITH THEM

The plotlines I’ve just mentioned will be the main ones but for a lot of characters I’m having trouble placing them.

Caradoc will be apart of the Order obviously and is Benjys boyfriend

Frank is one of Alice’s old friends who appears for one chapter during part one to offer her marriage

I’m thinking Peter as a pureblood who is currently at Hogwarts and is good friends with Sirius

Lily and Mary are definitely a part of the Order and will be in a established relationship but I’m not really sure what else I can do with them. I don’t want to just make them side characters with nothing going on

As already said with Marlene she will be at Hogwarts but I dont know what she’s doing there other then observing

Everyone else is wandering my brain trying to find somewhere in this fic to go

ANYWAYS if by some miracle you read all of that and have literally any thoughts on if its good or bad or if i should change anything or what I should do with certain characters or relatonships please let me know cause this took FOREVER to all get out of my head and into a tumblr post

i am very invested in Remus vs Grimmauld Place ♥ Also I'd marry you with paper rings sounds like a grand time!

Remus Lupin vs Grimmauld Place is a fic that was born very randomly because I shared a headcanon in the asks of @heartofspells and we started building on it back and forth, I started writing it THAT SAME DAY but then kind of left it on the side for a bit, but it’s lined up for completion right after the first chapter of what’s left of us in my ✨finish your shit 2023✨ plan. It’s basically just a fic where the Marauders go to Grimmauld Place one time that Walpurga and Orion are not home, but it’s funny because the house is basically one giant anti-werewolf, anti-half-blood trap (this is the snippet where that specific initial headcanon happens btw):

When Regulus opens the door, he’s staring the three of them down like it’s the first time he’s ever seen another wizard in his life.

“Hey Reg,” James tries with a tentative nod, but Regulus only gives him a very fake, very ironic smile, seemingly carefully considering whether to let them in or not.

Eventually when Sirius appears behind him he seems to finally be brought back to reality, flicking his gaze quickly between Remus and his brother, then he sighs and fixes his eyes on Remus as he announces: “Everything is coated in silver here, try not to touch anything you don’t absolutely have to, and don’t drink any tea, I’m 85% sure Kreacher puts wolfsbane in it just to be safe. Actually, avoid eating or drinking anything you haven’t seen prepared. Also, maybe avoid the portraits. Good luck.”

Then, just like that, Regulus is gone in the other room, hiding his amused smirk from the four Marauders currently too busy panicking to even notice it, because how the fuck does he even know? what do the portraits have to with anything? is there really actual poison for werewolves in the freakin tea??

Basically, it’s in a Modern AU setting, with Sirius repeatedly singing Paper Rings by Taylor Swift to Remus (bc that’s a wolfstar song and Sirius would, you can’t tell me otherwise) and Remus pretending to be embarrassed by it. Until, Remus decides to propose to Sirius and he does it with that song <3 and then the song comes up at their wedding, and they scream to each other’s faces… and everytime it comes up on the radio… and and and…

SO, my royal au is called "the elysium" and it's jegulus, wolfstar and nobleflower centered.

the tropes we have here are:

james being the prince and heir to the throne, who was betrothed (promised in marriage) to regulus — regulus is a lord of house black. they are going to be married because of the law of the second child, who is basically explained in the first chapter

sirius is the heir of house black, but he is a ward at court, so he moved there when he was 15 to be taught by the Wise and to become one of them (he goes back to his family every six months or so). remus is the new lord commander of the kingsguard and he swears first to james then to sirius as their protector

NOW, LET'S TALK ABOUT NOBLEFLOWER

narcissa (my beloved) goes to court when regulus does because, a week before the wedding, the betrothed's family is supposed to go and meet the royals to get acquainted with them — but she's pregnant with draco (she had a political marriage with lucius, because he wanted an heir and she wanted a baby but, apart from that, they barely look at eachother). because she's pregnant, she's offered by the queen and king (james' parents) to stay at court as long as she wants and they assure her she will be taken care of. in fact, fleamont tells her that, for whatever she might need, she can go see alice, which is a Wise lady and a doctor!!!!!!!

so, basically, narcissa is a lady and alice is a lady as well but she's also her doctor.

they firstly interact in the third chapter and i have so so so many plans for them. i love them with my whole heart. narcissa finds alice so lovely from the first time she lays eyes on her.

furthermore, this will all be influenced by narcissa's relationship with her sisters, which will NOT be neglected on my watch

bellatrix is a crazy crazy woman, but she loves her sister more than anything. who knows what she will think about narcissa falling for alice, after what happened with andromeda and ted... guess you'll find out if you decide to read :)

also, there is the fact that walburga, orion, lucius and bellatrix are planning to kill james and land a coup. so yeah, it's gonna be a mess.

btw, i'm aware this is a disorganized lump of thoughts with no grammar or style whatsoever but i promise i write a LOT better than this in the fic :')

One Word Answer

Luke won’t even try to deny it—he’s fighting back tears as he pushes the screen door open. The house is so silent he thinks it might be empty, and, quite honestly, that’s probably for the best. If he tries to talk to anyone right now, he actually is going to start crying.

All he wants is to curl up on the Lupins’ sofa and think about whatever the fuck it was he did wrong; whatever he did to deserve this.

But he has no such luck.

The instant he enters the living room, he’s met by an onslaught of noise. There are streamers hanging from the ceiling, and the smiling faces of his friends—James, Remus, Sirius, Logan, Leo, Finn; he even thinks he might see Lily in the corner—are there to greet him. Remus approaches first, and presses a glass of champagne into his hands.

He passes it right back, and the noise stills, and Remus’s face falls slightly. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing’s wrong.”

“Obviously something’s wrong.”

Luke sighs. “Just forget it.”

“What?”

“Forget it. Forget this.” He gestures around them, at the people, the decorations, the alcohol. “There’s no point.”

“What are you talking about?”

Isn’t Remus supposed to be the smart one? Is he really going to make Luke say it? “He said no, Remus.”

If the room was quiet before, now it’s unbelievably so; painfully so. “He said no,” he says again, this time more to himself.

He barely feels himself slump against the doorframe, sliding down to the floor with a slight thump. His head falls to the side, and he squeezes his eyes closed in one final attempt to stop the tears.

Somewhere in the back of his mind, though it feels, in a way, like he’s dreaming; he hears Remus’s voice, determined and far, far too loud: “Okay, everyone out. He needs… he needs.”

There follows the all-encompassing silence of a party ended too soon. Footsteps pass by him, going out into the hall, but Luke doesn’t have the energy to try to put gaits to faces and faces to names. He doesn’t have the energy to do anything but sit there and feel the uncomfortable warmth of his tears spill from his eyes and trail down his cheeks.

“I’ll go,” he hears Sirius say, once there’s no one left but the three of them, “and talk to…” he trails off, perhaps not saying the name for fear of it killing Luke just a little more inside, but it does nothing to help. All he can think of is hazel eyes and blond curls and gold, gold, gold.

And then it’s just them there: Luke, who needs to be comforted, and Remus, who hasn’t had to comfort him in so long that he’s forgotten how to—or maybe he never knew at all.

“I’m sorry,” Remus says.

“Don’t be.”

For the first time since it happened, Luke opens his fist. He opens his eyes, too, and he stares at the glint of metal. He bought the ring so long ago; he spent hours deliberating, trying to find the perfect one, and now it seems it doesn’t matter after all.

“He said no,” he whispers again, and this time it feels, even to him, like he’s just trying to convince himself of that. He looks up, meeting Remus’s gaze, and he brings his knees up to his chest, curling himself into a ball, into a defense mechanism, and buries his face in his hands. “I love him.”

“I know.”

“It hurts.”

“I know.”

“But you don’t know!” This—this anger isn’t like him. Or, well, it is like him—it’s how he was before the treasure, when they were just Gods and Hollows. It’s how he was before Saint.

He feels one of Remus’s hands grasp his, and he thinks of all the times they tried so hard to be in love. For years, they thought that it had to be each other; that they would never have anyone else. But it never worked out, because Remus needed Sirius—brave, easy Sirius—and Luke needed Saint.

Saint who was harsh like ice and warm like sunlight. Saint who loved like he fought.

Saint who said no.

Gently, Remus pries the ring out of his hand. He hears the click as it’s set down on the floor beside them, and he lets himself be enveloped in the arms of the boy who was his only friend in the world for so very long.

The apartment is empty when Luke gets back. The lights are off; the door is locked; Saint’s wallet is still on the counter here he left it. He wonders where Saint is. He wonders if Saint is going to come back.

He wonders whether he wants him to.

Well, that’s not quite right. Of course he wants Saint to come back. What he’s not so sure about is whether he wants Saint to acknowledge any of this.

He’s been hurt in a way he didn’t know he could be hurt. He has his defenses—he always has—and he took them down for the boy who was somehow both wild dreams and harsh reality all at once. For the first time in his life, he saw he was falling in love, and he let himself. He had no idea that that love would ever—could ever—destroy him in the way it is now.

Saint loves him. Luke knows this. If he didn’t, he wouldn’t have pretended to, because while Saint is a good liar, he is not a happy one. He’s lived far too much of his life surrounded by half-truths, and he would never willingly do something that would hurt himself.

Hurting other people, yes. But Saint is not self-destructive. He’s just reckless.

Luke sets his keys down on the coffee table. He stares at the sofa—the sofa he and Saint bought together—and he clenches his jaw. His fist flies, practically of its own accord, into one of the couch cushions, and he feels his anger hit boiling point.

Just as quickly, it cools.

He’s not so much mad at Saint as he is mad at himself for wanting to be mad at Saint. He’s always known himself to be a paradox, and now, here, in the semi-darkness of the place he calls home, he finally understands that now is no exception.

When he enters the bedroom, he reaches out blindly with one hand for the light switch. To an outsider, it would seem like nothing has changed at all, but in reality, Luke’s entire world has been flipped on its head. It feels like it, anyway.

He goes through the motions. He brushes his teeth; he changes into his pajamas; but all the while he’s teetering on the edge of a precipice.

Climbing into bed and smelling the briny tang of salt water that Saint always carries with him is what finally tips him off the edge. He becomes lost in the memory of this afternoon, and it’s like Crucio all over again; he’s drowning in the past and the present and the future—

“Do you recognize this place?” Luke asks, hands in his pockets.

“Of course.”

The sun shines off Saint’s hair, bright and beautiful, and Luke tells him, “I love you.”

“I love you, too.” It’s natural—they’ve said it a hundred thousand times by now, and, as Luke squeezes the ring he’s holding, he hopes beyond hope they’ll be able to say it a hundred thousand more.

“Saint?”

When Saint turns around, his eyes go wide. Luke tries to keep his balance—his jeans are already damp at the knee from the still-dewy grass, and the faint warmth of the noonday sun does nothing to calm his nerves. His breath shakes; he almost drops the ring as he holds it out.

“Hey,” he says, trying to smile. Inhale, exhale, he tells himself, and starts over again.

“I think you know why I’ve brought you here, but I’m going to say it anyway.

“This place, right here, is where we were when I finally fell in love with you. Sure, I’d been falling for a long time, but it was here that I hit rock bottom and realized I wanted to stay there.”

Saint must know where this is going. There’s no way he doesn’t. But his expression is unreadable, and Luke has to force himself to look away in order to keep going.

“I love you, Saint. I have for so long it scares me to think about and I will for the rest of time. You mean the world to me—I hope you know that. You are, without a doubt, my everything, and I want more than anything for you to remain my everything forever.

“You’ve spent years without a last name that truly feels like home. What I’m offering now, what I’m laying my heart bear in the hopes of, is that you can take mine. Will you—” he swallows, finally focusing his gaze; finally meeting Saint’s eyes, “—will you marry me?”

It’s like time has forgotten where it was going before—or perhaps even that it was ever going anywhere at all. Luke waits, biting his lip and trying not to smile, for an answer.

Saint turns his head away; he’s looking at something in the distance. His fingers are twitching ever so slightly at his side, and Luke’s heart falters.

“I’m sorry,” whispers Saint, still looking away, and Luke doesn’t need to hear any more. It’s as if someone has taken an axe to the very fibre of his being; his dreams of the future are being chipped away at in front of his very eyes.

Luke clears his throat. “Right.” He stands up, and his leg hurts like a bitch from kneeling, but he won’t say anything. The last thing he can do right now is show weakness. The last thing he can do is prove to Saint that he, Luke Deveaux, isn’t worth it.

“Wait,” Saint calls after him when he turns to go, but Luke isn’t listening. Of course Saint has his excuses, and, knowing Saint, they’re probably damn good ones, too, but he doesn’t want to hear them. Not now, when the chasm down the centre of his heart is still fresh and bleeding. Not now, when it hurts to take even a single step away from the man he loves, but he has to anyway.

Maybe not ever.

Luke isn’t asleep. He’s caught in the half-place—the place you go when you’re not there, not yet, but you aren’t quite here, either. So he feels the mattress dip beside him, and he feels the breath on the back of his neck, and he feels the hand curl protectively over his waist. He hears Saint say “I’m sorry,” in that quiet, desperately painful voice he has.

“You’re not,” he says into the silence, and he waits.

“I am,” Saint tells him. “I really am. I’m sorry I can’t want that. I’m sorry I can’t be that. I’m sorry I’m not enough.”

The last part is raw and full of emotion, and it would kill Luke completely if he was to say anything but “You are enough.”

“Not for you, I’m not.”

He still doesn’t turn over to face Saint—he’s not ready for that—but he lets himself relax slightly into his arms. “You are. You’re enough. You’re more than enough. Sometimes—sometimes I think you might be a little too much, actually.”

Saint’s other hand slots quietly over his. It makes his breath catch in his throat, but he can feel, in the thrum, the ever-constant ebb and flow of Saint’s very being, that it makes all of this so much easier.

“What I wanted to say,” Saint starts—tentatively, as if he’s scared that at any moment Luke is going to decide he doesn’t want to hear it—“earlier today, is that I don’t want that. I’ve never wanted that. I’ve never wanted a wedding and a certificate and a house and a family and honey, I’m home. That’s… that’s not for me.

“The way I see it, marriage is an anchor. It’s there to make sure you never stray. It’s a choice you make once, and it’s a choice that stays with you forever.”

Exactly, Luke thinks, but he says nothing.

“What I want—what I’ve always wanted, I just never thought it was within any realm of possibility until I fell in love with you—is a hundred choices. I want freedom in the fact that there isn’t really freedom at all. I want two boats, floating freely, that always find their way back to each other. I want to wake up next to you every morning knowing that I could leave if I wanted to but make the choice not to.

“And I know that’s not what you want. But I can’t make myself play happy families because the truth of it is that that isn’t me. I’m a wanderer. I want a reason to stay in one place, not a rule to keep me there. I’m sorry.”

He can feel Saint’s mouth moving against the place where his spine meets the cords of his neck. He can feel Saint’s tears, but it’s okay, because he’s crying, too.

“No.” His voice is far too loud for the weighted silence of the room. “I’m sorry. I’m sorry I tried to make you choose between yourself and me. I’m sorry I didn’t realize that I don’t want marriage; I want you. I want you in your entirety; I want you in your all-encompassing happiness. That’s all I want. I want what you can give me—nothing more, nothing less.”

Slowly, Luke turns over onto his back. Saint immediately tucks his face into the space between Luke’s shoulder and neck, and this, this feels right.

“I love you,” Saint whispers. “I’ll always love you.”

“And I you.”

Saint laughs, a quiet noise that sounds like it’s half sob, as well. “And I tried to want that. I really did. At the wedding, I looked at you in that suit and I tried so hard to imagine if that was, well, us.”

“But you couldn’t.” As he says it, Luke presses a kiss to the crown of Saint’s head—the curls tickle his nose, and he closes his eyes for a moment and lets himself just be.

“I couldn’t. And I thought that was okay, because I never even considered that you could love me enough to… to want that with me.”

Luke pulls back, propping himself up on one elbow and creating enough space between them for him to look Saint in the eyes. They haven’t properly looked at each other since this afternoon, but that particular shade of hazel is all Luke has been able to think about. “It has nothing to do with how much I want you,” he says, and then he realizes how that sounds. “Or, rather, it is no indicator of how much I want you. It’s like you said—marriage is like an anchor. Sure, I haven’t always wanted that anchor, but that doesn’t change the fact that, anchor or no, I’ve always known, somewhere, that I’ll never let us drift apart.”

There are a few moments where they simply stare at each other. Luke runs his tongue along the edges of his teeth, pressing it into the sharpness of his canines just to feel something. Then Saint smiles that half-smile of his—the one he only ever wears when he and Luke are alone—and reaches up to cup Luke’s cheek in his palm.

“Fucking hell, Tweedle,” he says, in a soft, gentle voice that doesn’t at all match the words coming out of his mouth, “that might be the sappiest shit I’ve ever heard you say.”

Luke rolls his eyes and grins. He leans down, brushing his mouth against Saint’s. Their lips are barely touching, but, even so, Luke feels himself smile into the kiss. He’s at home here.

“You know,” Saint says later, when they’re simply lying in the dark, Luke’s head resting on Saint’s chest and one of Saint’s fingers tracing circles in Luke’s back, “there is one downside to the whole ‘not getting married’ plan.”

Luke wonders if he’s walking into a trap. “What’s that?”

“The last name thing.”

“Mm hmm.” Luke yawns. “Saint Deveaux does have a nice ring to it.”

“That it does.”

There’s another minute or two of comfortable silence, before Luke speaks up again. “And the second thing?”

“The second—oh.” Saint waits half a second before, “No divorce jokes.”

Luke laughs despite himself, relishing in the way Saint’s chest moves as he laughs, too. Saint, he knows now, is his choice. Saint is everything. Saint is home.

Saint is forever.

so i'm going character by character- there’s a lot sorry-

James potter- obviously he is Harry’s dad, he is the son of fleamont and euphemia and was born on the 27th of march 1960. He started school in the same year as peter, remus and sirius. His end game love interest is lily evans (in atyd) who was also in the same year as the marauders. James’s main enemy throughout his years at hogwarts is snape, but he will always stand up against other slytherins (like Avery). James marries lily evans but in 1981 they are both killed by Voldemort.

Sirius black- first born son of walburgur and Orion black, and his brother is regulus black. Sirius is named after candis major, the Dog Star. Sirius never got along well in his family and was never the favourite sibling and that just got worse when his got sorted into Gryffindor instead of slytherin. His main love interest is remus lupin in atyd but in cannon (that no one realy listens to he was said to be in a relationship with Marlene McKinnon for his years at hogwarts. Sirius goes to Askaban without trail in 1981 for the murders of lily evans potter and james potter. He escapes in 1993, the first to ever do it. He is killed a few years in 1996 by his cousin.

Remus lupin- he is a werewolf half blood ( dad is a wizard and his mums a muggle) in atyd he is the main character effectively. Remus had a bit of a messed up life in atyd but i will let you discover that :) his main love interest is sirius black, but the writer makes some ocs like grant chapman who you have probably heard about. Remus had to hide that he is a werewolf but the marauders find and do become Animagi for him during the full moons so he doesn’t hurt himself so much once they work it out. In 1997 he marries to tonks (sirius’s second cousin) and has a child with her called Edward ‘teddy’ lupin. This takes him to the end of his life where he is killed in the battle of hogwarts in 1998 leaving his one year old son behind because tonks was also killed the same day.

also there is no cannon on wolfstar in the actual book and you don't particularly need to know anything going into it, because mostly it's it own story and explains everything

Does anyone ever get tired of the “why does everyone have to be gay” argument?? I doubt anyone’s seeing this but I really need to rant. So I was looking in the comments of an Are They Gay video and saw some people getting really pissy about it, saying that not all Male characters are gay. Just. Yeah, no shit. But guess what? There’s an entire community that actually does a lot to support so many shows, books , movies, absolutely tons of media and guess what they’re little of in those things? Yeah. LGBT+ people. I know that the author or directior didn’t mean for these two characters to make a perfect couple and that one of them marries someone of the opposite sex which automatically means they’re straight, but that doesn’t mean the chemistry doesn’t exist. (Btw I know bi/pan people exist, I’m actually in that category).

One of my favourite things is when you look at a ship and think; “if one of them was the opposite sex/gender, would they get together?” And more often than not, the answer is yes. If Johnlock was straight, that would be all over the television everywhere. If Javey was straight, they’d kiss in the musical and the movie and no one would bat an eye. If Wolfstar was straight, JK ducking Rowling would’ve smashed them together and Harry would’ve walked in on them making out. Would anyone argue against Destiel at that point, saying there’s “obviously” nothing there??

So many shows, movies, books, pretty much anything that involves any sort of media does stuff like this and it’s getting really old. How about instead of asking “why do all characters have to be gay/lgbt” we try asking “why do all characters have to be straight/cis”. I feel like you might get a larger audience if you pull your head out of your mostly heteronormative ass.

And please, if you’re going to make a character LGBT. 👏PLEASE👏FUCKING👏SHOW👏IT👏

Don’t just tag it in as an after thought. It’s perfectly ok to not make je entire story about them, but all it takes is maybe one conversation about romantic interests, pasts, feelings, a single mental monologue, and boom, you have an LGBT character who isn’t a Dumbledore. You know, not just thrown in there with no actual representation.

Headcanons for Wolfstar personalities...

I’ve been carefully reading a lot of stuff about Wolfstar and people being unhappy/offended by the portrayal of Sirius (especially, I think?) by other writers. And I think that it’s based on assumptions that may be incorrect.

To explain: in my case, I happen to work as a psychiatrist and obviously I see mental health everywhere, including in characters I see in books. And it interests me to look at how someone is described in canon and what their background is, and to come up with theories as to how it could have affected them from a mental health perspective, in a positive and negative way.

Your upbringing and your early life experiences as well as your genes have a massive impact on your brain development and place you at varying risk for developing mental illness and/or personality disorders. This does not mean you are a weak person, far from it, it just affects how you view relationships, your ability to trust others, your ability to self-soothe, to calm your emotions, your fear of abandonment etc. mental health problems affect both men and women, just to note here. Members of the 🏳️‍🌈 community have higher rates of mental illnesses as teenagers, not surprisingly, due to the higher stress/shit they have to put up with.

Anyway....

So for me, based on canon evidence that Sirius ‘ mother used to scream at him, that he hates his family, that he ran away from home, that he made impulsive decisions and used to get into regular fights/hex Slytherin wannabe death eaters etc, I headcanon him as having borderline personality disorder. It just makes sense to me. And yes this means he experiences very intense emotions that can be overwhelming, he can lose his temper quite badly, he has fears of abandonment and finds it very hard to trust people and can become paranoid/quasi psychotic when very stressed (I’m sorry but if that doesn’t sound like canon Sirius???) - but in no sense whatsoever is that me implying he is in some way “feminine” or the female in the relationship. That’s like implying that only women have traumatic early life experiences???? It’s just me making sense of his background and what little canon info we have, and then imagining how it would have affected him. James is his secure base, that someone he has learnt to completely trust. The Potters seem to be the same for him. He’s way less secure when it comes to romantic relationships so that includes Remus. In my mind he gets depressed after being forced back into grimmauld place, unable to contribute and DO SOMETHING and reminded of the emotional abuse (and probably physical abuse and emotional neglect) he experienced there. He probably has PTSD as well. I mean who wouldn’t after being stuck in Azkaban for 12 years?????

In Grimmauld Place, he gets depressed, and he changes from the very helpful, supportive godfather to Harry earlier in the HP books to then making rash decisions and Hermione is worried about him in canon.

btw Boderline Personality Disorder occurs in males and females, although it is easier to get misdiagnosed as a male because often when you present with drug or alcohol abuse eg professionals don’t recognise the underlying problem which made you turn to substance abuse in the first place.

Okay, so in no sense whatsoever is my headcanon of Sirius as “dramatic” (if you want to call it that), based on misogyny or me thinking he’s the female in the relationship or whatever. It’s simply based on the info from the books, and how I imagine it affecting him. I hope that makes sense. It would be EXACTLY THE SAME if I was writing about a female character who had had the same life experiences.... it’s not based on gender. Sirius being into flying motorbikes, wearing ridiculous coloured t shirts with a Phoenix on it, sticking up multiple muggle women posters in his room - the guy does drama rather well in canon. And I don’t see any of this drama as at all “feminine” ... it’s just him. He’s also described as very good looking in canon. Again that’s not trying to make him feminine it’s just a fact. You can be very attractive and very male, lol!

Then Remus. So we know he suffered a huge trauma aged about 5 which changed his life forever. He thinks he’s too old, too poor, too ‘wrong’ to get married, he’s surprised he makes any friends and that they accept him as he is. In canon, He has low self esteem and won’t stand up to James and Sirius when they “bully” Snape after the exam. Anyway, I headcanon that he has PTSD, probably complex PTSD because each month is traumatic for him. And then after 31st October 1981 he experienced complete loss of all his friends and what he now believes is betrayal by his lover. I guess he probably became depressed for a time and may have drunk excessively to cope. With PTSD, people often feel closed off emotionally and that’s how I see Remus. Don’t get me wrong, I see both Remus and Sirius as being incredibly resilient despite their respective traumas. They are incredibly loyal, to their friends, to Harry, to Harry’s friends, they both risked their lives regularly with the Order to save others, they both die trying to save Harry and the next generation. They are heroes. Remus is a very kind and thoughtful person who the students love. Sirius is willing to live off rats in a cave to help Harry. They are both incredibly likable, strong characters. That’s how I write them and I really don’t see how that is in any way misogynistic at all. I think when you get where the characterization is coming from, then maybe this idea / assumption is not so valid? I mean you can still believe that, but it’s just not accurate.

In relation to who is top/bottom or don/sub etc, I don’t really care. I am quite happy to read either/all the above. Personally I think maybe they switch depending on time of the month?? I don’t think being a bottom equates being less male/masculine at all. I don’t see why it should. In canon Remus seems to be the only person Sirius immediately listens to (“sit down!”) so that may sound a bit dom I suppose. The greater tendency towards dom Remus is most likely also a reaction to earlier fandom ideas where Remus was very wet blankety/passive unpopular guy who has never dated anyone and Sirius was the suave/popular guy who had loads of conquests under his belt!! And to each their own, I personally don’t really fancy that version of Wolfstar.

But I have read fics with Dom Sirius and others with Dom Remus, fics with Blackinnon (even if I’m not usually a fan, I have been won over by brilliant writing @stonecoldhedwig 😍😍😍!), fics with Jegulus (even though Jily is absolutely my favourite but @wolfstargarden your writing is too good 😂!!!) fics with Remus being buff (💕💕💕@confunded-gryffindor !!) and fics with Sirius being a mechanic and others where he’s an artist( @jencala !!! ❤️❤️) or where Sirius is an Indiana Jones type character (@hp-shessocold😍😍!) you can be any of these things and can be either female or a male character. You can be a drag queen or a tattoo artist and be very Sirius (@jennandblitz 😉!) . I’ve read Sirius dying of cancer (ugh!! 💔) fics and Remus having a chronic illness quite a few times. As long as it’s well written and I love the characters , I don’t care. As you know, I read a LOT of fics and I generally let people know what I think about their fics (by gushing about the writing!) so you know I’m not making this up, lol!

There is some research suggesting that people with BPD traits often end up in relationships with people who are quite opposite e.g. don’t express strong emotions/are emotionally repressed/distant etc. maybe they compliment each other. So in my universe Wolfstar do compliment each other. I’m currently refusing to consider canon endings ☹️☹️☹️!

Anyway, that’s enough. I feel good for explaining what I think. You can agree or disagree. I happen to think that many people write characters based on their own life experiences and that this affects the portrayal.

I went a bit overboard with this!! I need a cup of tea or some sleep!! Up early tomorrow!

the first character i ever fell in love with: The cat reading a map in front of the Dursley’s house, aka McGonagall!!!

a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: I guess the closer I can get to is Dumbledore, because even though I love his character, I think he’s an awful person, for one very specific reason: no matter the consequences, no matter why you think you should do nothing, you never leave a child live with an abusive family if there’s something you can do about it. Daumbledore could have gotten Harry out of the Dursley’s care when he was a kid, no matter the protection spell, he should have nevet let Harry leave with them. It’s something I didn’t realize when I was a kid, but as an adult, it’s the one thing I can’t forgive him.

a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: When I was reading the books, I kinda liked the idea of Neville and Luna together, and was sad when Rowling announced that they were married to other people. BUT now that we’ve met Newt Scamander, if his grandson is indeed a good mix of Newt and Tina, I think he might indeed be a perfect fit for Luna!

my ultimate favorite character™: Can I say two characters? Hermione Granger and Ginny Weasley. Hermione, because I feel a very strong bond with her character, I identified to her a lot so she’s always up there. And Ginny because she’s just the best character, I especially love her development in book five, but she’s just plain awesome and I love her.

prettiest character: Ginny, and Sirius when he was young (come on, every time Harry sess pictures and stuff he’s just amazed at how beautiful Sirius was so…yeah)

my most hated character: OMG SNAPE I HATE HIM SO MUCH omg I can’t stand the quote “Always”, it stands for a high school obssessive crush who was never resolved, he bullies kids for no good reason (there’s never a good reason to bully someone btw), and he was a literal wizard-nazi!!! Also, Umbridge because “I must not tell lies”

my OTP: Oh boi. Hinny, Wolfstar and Jily are up there, and then Romione brcause these two are just perfect for each other.

my NOTP: I don’t even know their fic name but SnapexLily. Also, Dramione because even though I understand why people like it, I don’t like to ship them for the same reason I don’t like SnapexLily: racism, the use of slurs and the constant bullying. I don’t mind people shipping them, but I’m not interested in these ships. Oh and Snapexany of the children he bullied.

favorite moment: (I changed the ask a bit to make it fit) The whole reveal of the many plot twists at the end of Prisoner of Azkaban, when they’re in the Shrieking Shack and they learned about literally EVERYTHING in like 20 pages, I love it!!!! Also, Hinny first kiss after the Quiditch match.

saddest death: it’s a tie between Fred and Sirius, both deaths crushed me completely so I can’t chose but they were awful.

favorite book: Prisoner of Azkaban

least favorite book: I’m thinking probably Chamber of Secrets? Not that I on’t like it, but if I had to chose a least favorite, it would have to be this one

character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: Okay so I don’t hate him, I think his character is interesting but… Draco. I just don’t unerstand why so many people love him so much? (and I genuinely think casting Tom Felton has a lot to do with it because the dude is a literal cinamon roll) There is potential for redemption for him in the future, but he’s a racist bully in the books and I don’t like him.

my ‘you’re piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave: Gilderoy Lockhart. He’s sooooo annoying but OMG re-reading Chamber of Secrets is so funny thanks to him XD

my ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave: Ron OMG people who mistreat Ron can come for me anytime, I will protect him with my own life. He’s sweet, he’s kind, he’s extremely funny and a very loyal friend, and honestly, I think people who criticze him only remember the butchered movie version of his character.

my ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship: I don’t think I have this kind of ship in this fandom, sorry! Here’s the next best thing, a ship I low-key regret shipping because I like the canon ship better: FredxHermione. I looooove their dynamic together, and even though I’m really happy that Hermione ends up with Ron, I see a lot of potential in their relationship and I’m a sucker for the guy always joking/super serious girl dynamic they could have had.
