ideally what I want from MDZS is an epic length series telling me the details of the Sunshot Campaign (HOW DID JC BUILD THAT SECT UP FROM THE GROUND) and everything that happened in the 13 year gap (JGY and his time being the Chief Cultivator is something that can be very personal actually)

okay maybe what I ideally do want is something that delves into the nitty gritty details of the politics and the war in mdzs because I keep crying everytime I have to comprehend the insane amount of things that Just Happen in canon

absolutely hilarious to me that the novel repeatedly references the two massacres Xue Yang committed (while on Jin payroll), and then the Villainous Friends extra is like "LMAO, no no, sorry for any confusion, theres WAY more"

Yilling Wei Sect AU Meng Yao is initially worried about meeting Jin Zixuan because as the legitimate son he’s probably just like their father and the world Does Not need another one of those. Also if the peacock says one word about his mother he’s putting him in the ground. Sorry, Wei-Gongzi, but being blood actually gives Jin Zixuan less right to be shitty to Meng Yao and Wei Sec!Meng Yao already has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to being disrespected. There might be an Incident. Just a warning. Instead he takes one look at this socially awkward himbo struggling his way through life and goes “Ah. So that’s what paternal instinct feels like.” Well, he already has one brother who’s completely incapable of acting like a normal human being. And unlike Xue Yang, Jin Zixuan doesn’t kill people if you take your eyes off him for two minutes! Meng Yao has experience with this! Helping him should be easy! Spoiler: It is not easy. It gets even less easy when Xue Yang sees the time and attention Meng Yao is giving Jin Zixuan and gets consumed by jealousy over this stupid poncy brother stealer! The worst part is that Jin Zixuan doesn’t even realize what’s happening. Xue Yang doesn’t like him, but Xue Yang doesn’t seem to like anybody outside of his sect, so he’s not taking it personally! It literally doesn’t even occur to him that he and Xue Yang are competing for Meng Yao’s affection. Which, of course, just pisses Xue Yang off more. Meng Yao is in hell, actually. Literal hell. After months of this something happens and Jin Zixuan ends up saving Xue Yang’s life, and Xue Yang goes “nvm actually I adore him” and Meng Yao thinks he can finally breathe again, but it turns out Xue Yang is a terrible influence on Jin Zixuan and Meng Yao is weighing the pros and cons of just walking into the ocean.

Xue yang: he's a 10, but blind.

Yao: Xingchen? Uh 4.

Xue yang: uh why?! Are you blind too?!

Su she: 4.
