Greetings!!! I just wanted to say how much I love your art! The way you draw Gordon is my favourite. Your style is amazing and unique and I particularly love the colours you use, they're so colourful, and all the little details you put into it.
Thank you for all the aro & ace positivity too, I've needed to hear it lately.
I really enjoyed the fic you wrote, and if it is something you enjoyed and want to do more of, I would be very happy to hear more adventures of Gords and Squirt.
I like seeing whatever you make, whether its only Gords, or your ocs, or even just stuff that reminded you of them. And ocean stuff, the ocean is awesome. It's all cool, so whatever makes you happy!
I've kinda been lurking around the thunderfam for a while, hi. Your art is comforting and it makes me smile, so here I am to say thank you. Because, yeah, making any sort of art is hard, and you are amazing and deserve to hear it!
I feel like I should have a question, because this is an ask, so: What is your favourite sea creature, aside from Gordy, of course? :)
--AstraNite (I really like cuttlefish, they're neat!)
Hi, thanks so much for dropping me this ask. It was a really sweet surprise, I definitely needed a pick-me-up.💛💛
I'm going to try and address everything you've mentioned, give me a minute lol.
I'm really glad that you like my drawings, I haven't been getting a lot of comments on them atm so I'm really grateful for your feedback. It's interesting that you find my art comforting since a lot of the things I make are for my comfort too. I've said this before but I had a really rough childhood and TAG and Gordon have brought me a lot of comfort during some really tough times.
I'm happy to hear that my drawings are bringing other people comfort too.💛💛
°o𖦹°o𖦹°o𖦹°o𖦹°o𖦹°o
Ace and aro positivity: yes I'm also aroace and there's nothing but love for fellow aros, aces and aroaces on this blog.
°o𖦹°o𖦹°o𖦹°o𖦹°o𖦹°o
I'm so happy that you liked my fic, it was my first so I was really nervous and ocs can be very hit or miss but the fandom seems to really like Squirt which makes me so so happy.
I have been trying out more writing but none of it came out anywhere near as good as the first one. I do hope to post more Bigsquid and Squidkid adventures and hopefully expand on their relationship and Squirt's backstory (which is still an ongoing mystery to me) but I'd also like to try making things that aren't OC centered because I know it's not something everyone enjoys lol.
°o𖦹°o𖦹°o𖦹°o𖦹°o𖦹°o
Ok onto sea creatures, cuttle fish are very interesting, the way that they change colour to camouflage and intimidate other animals. Yeah they're pretty cool.
My favourite sea creature (apart from Gords) uhhhh I like sharks, no particular species, they're all cool. I think sharks have a really bad reputation when they're actually quite chill. They don't tend to attack humans, their eyesight is bad and they often mistake us for seals and other animals that they eat.
As Gordon would say: They're sea puppies.🦈🩵
°o𖦹°o𖦹°o𖦹°o𖦹°o𖦹°o
Thanks for dropping into my askbox, I hope my answers were ok. If you ever want to chat or anything my pms and inbox are always open.💛💛

Hey, I've never said this but:
You're welcome to make requests through my inbox!! Any fandom! Any creature! I wanna expand what I can do. You can also ask for more ocs of mine I've posted before. If its rwd, I'll draw for aus too!
No guarantee I'll do it and post it! But I will certainly try!
Feel free to request specific poses or characters! :]
I'd love more art ideas lol

Intro Post/ FAQ
Name: Jackie, Mae,  or anything in-between!
Pronouns: Mostly She/Her but do whatever the hell you want/pos :p
Time zone: Canadian and live at eastern standard time (EST) but I used to live on the west coast (PST) so my post time can fluctuate if I wanna get some of my friends attention lol
Blurb: I’m a Illustrator/Animator drawing for a variety of fandoms while also trying to expand my skills in original art while also slowly developing a Webcomic with fellow mutual @catzgam3rz!
I post mainly art here (I have a terrible habit of not reblogging things xp) But if you're only here for one thing (IE. My 1tau for Zelda) please be aware I’ll post other fandom art and a string of non-fandom centric pieces doesn’t mean I’ve dropped the fandom entirely.
LINKTREE: Found here! Where to find me elsewhere (But Tumblr is where I’m most responsive lol)
COMMISSIONS: Currently CLOSED But hoping to open up at the end of April
ETSY: I have an Etsy! Found here! Mostly a few stickers and Prints of fandom works but planning to have more prints available soon!
ART PERMISSIONS/ART FAQ/ LEGEND OF ZELDA SPECIFIC FAQ BELOW
ART PERMISSIONS / ART FAQ
Can I use your art as a pfp? - So long as it’s with credit absolutely!
Can I make dubs/ readings of your fan comics? - Again, So long as you credit me I’m totally down! I’d love to see anything made with my art but that’s not a requirement!
Can I make art with your designs? - Yes! I would love to see it if you do!
What programs do you use? – For illustrations I use Clip Studio Paint EX. And if you see any animations most likely I’ll have used Toon Boom Harmony Advanced 21
Your art looks familiar, have you done work for other fandoms? – Most art I do can be found on this blog but I have also done art and had a sideblog for the Warrior cats series. And I also have a tiktok where I post mostly Genshin Impact related comics. On this blog specifically you’ll find old Dream smp/ Philza, Pokemon, and Zelda art!
I’m happy to answer any other questions! feel free to shoot me an ask whenever!
LEGEND OF ZELDA FAQ: As the one timeline AU as I’ve named it has gained a fair amount of popularity heres a few questions I’ve been asked about it
What is the 1tau?: The 1Tau (One timeline AU) Is a legend of Zelda alternate universe I made where the timeline of the Zelda universe has been molded to fit into one line instead of the branching routes of canon. It’s also a Links Meet AU because those are cool!
Where can I read it?: Unfortunately this is the only place you’ll find material for this Au, FOR NOW AT LEAST! I have been known to dabble in fanfiction so it’s not out of the question some stories might pop up.
Do you have a story planned for this AU?: Kinda? But mostly it’s just character-focused interactions. I’m not a fan of writing super dark or introspective Zelda, *I lean more toward Hurt/Comfort, found family vibes in these parts~
Is there a Sideblog for this AU?: Not at the moment but that might b e something I'll look into if it becomes hard to navigate within my main blog
Can I use your character designs: Please do with credit! And optimally with me tagged so I can see your work~
Can I send you art of this AU: PLEASE PLEASE DO I’D LOVE TO SEE IT!!!

PSA! PLS REAAAAD
Hey! I’m back from my vacation-hiatus-ish! Which means I shoudln’t randomly disappear off the face of the earth all day quite as much!
secondly, I’m going to try to expand myself out of the bubble I’ve made on this site. I love y’all but like there’s an entire site here that I wanna cause chaos on lol- and sometimes being this restricted isn’t great on me lol
So don’t be surprised if you see me making secondary blogs and such for other fandoms (WoF and Warriors are probably first lol)
To start off, I’M MAKING A CLANGEN BLOG! This probably won’t be anything serious, more like me screaming about cat ships or something lolll
so don’t expect good art, expect Elsie trying to figure out how to draw a cat, or elsie ranting, or elsie answering random asks, or writing out moons and random scenes
I will keep the allegiances generally updated!
HAVE A GOOD DAY!
THE CLANGEN BLOG IS @bliss-clan

Two year fic anniversary
Tumblr media
ID. a looping gif showing a woman in a period dress writing in a small booklet. END ID.
I like to practice self examination throughout my day - start with gratitude and end with petitions and intentions depending on how my day played out. And really fandom is no different in that regard: I took some time to reflect on my anniversary and see what are things I want to carry into year three, and what are things I want to shed. And to share what I learned, and what I'd like to learn lol.
So here we go ❤️
I wrote half of what I wrote in my first year. But somehow still managed over 300k which is wild to consider.
However that number reflects two things: both how crazy, and back to back to back rl things were for the last ten months, (which understandably impacted my time to write), but also, me diving into digital art and really growing it. So to me that just shows how important art still remains for me - and how I've expanded that to include both writing and drawing. Two different forms of expression, and for two very different purposes for myself, but both beneficial in such specific ways that I can't imagine not doing both for the foreseeable future!
So I think the take away for the first point is that I can give myself permission to not meet the same writing goals I did that first year, and that is absolutly okay. But also what a blessing it is to be able to have such creative ways to process things, and bring myself joy, even when things are insane! 💗
I joined fandom events and expanded my fandom interests
This was probably my biggest and most surprising discovery for myself. I have/am doing multiple projects for the The Old Guard Big Bang, Fandom Trumps Hate, the Spring Tides OFMD Zine, helped organize a server cookbook, and am currently organizing the LMZine. Some are wrapped, some are things going into early November and I have come to realize that though I had to place a few WIPs to the side (ones that I hadn't posted yet) that it didn't feel like any sort of sacrifice, they'll be there later lol.
Because there's something about talking to people about their stories, and/or coordinating, collabing, to bring people's visions to life that just brings me such joy - and when the final product is for a good cause? Even better!
So the second take away is that I don't think I'll slow down on fandom events anytime soon - though I'll likely take a break once these are wrapped in order to work on a WIP I've been thinking about for close to a year lol.
Which brings me to my final point: in that I'm seeking community
That isn't really a surprise lol. But I think I'm able to define it better in regards to my own purpose and how I'd like to spend my energy online. I feel like the first year was very much me diving in blind and not knowing many things like filtering, curating, blocking, so yeah, the first year was exploring digital boundaries, and the second year was expanding those in regards to defining what I'm here for at this time.
I've always been very supportive that what works for one doesn't work for everyone and sure, though there's always going to be people who take advantage or purposely try to ruin things for others, but in general we all bring different gifts to fandom and that's a beautiful thing. But I can share on my end, my rl is intense. On average our family has a dozen med appointments a month (this month it's 15), we have special needs family members, I like to volunteer. I'm involved in my community, I'm a busy lady lol - for me, fandom is the creative hobby that brings me joy and/or healing through art therapy of content creation, and play therapy in servers and memes, and just wonderful socialization.
It means so much to me to be able to log on for 20 minutes here, or 20 minutes there between errands and appointments and there's someone to chat with, laugh with - just socialize and get some serotonin. To connect and have community with people around the world is such a lovely testament to social media and for someone who's homebound almost half the year, one of the few ways I can nurture consistent connection with others (I mean most people I spend time with in rl are like ethically bound not to be my friend, wonderful people, but like medical professionals, and related fields, lol).
And so to just log on, and relax, and have fun, and play and joke, and chat about anything and everything is just so, so nice. And I love to give back to that by encouraging people and being able to collab with others on projects - whether that's writing, drawing, betaing, plotting, DMing, chatting casually, and sometimes quite seriously! There's so much growth I have had in the last two years, and I know it's because I've had opportunities to nurture friendships, to share and practice vulnerability but also safe environments to practice boundaries as well.
So my third take away is that I want to seek out even more niche spaces for myself when things are a little more wrapped up in my personal life (circa September), and yet simultaneously expand into more fandom consumption and variety. Because I feel secure in my digital boundaries, safe to explore more, and that's only possible with the loving, supportive relationships I already have standing beside me. I am so incredibly fortunate and grateful and please know I have often prayed for so many of you 🙏🏻❤️
And that's my reflections as I enter year three!
So thank you for those I have formed connections with, opportunities to pray for people, to help someone feel seen, heard and loved - to laugh, so much laughter. To share, and create with. Thank you fandom, thank you loves.

Why I'm Here
I saw this kind of thing can be therapeutic so I thought maybe getting my thoughts and voice out there could help. So Hello! You can call me River or Lotus, I'm 21 years old, and I'm mentally ill. I'm also autistic and have ADHD. I'm pan and genderfluid, I use they/them pronouns, and I am trying my best to live a happy life.
I don't really have much to say since I've already written a lot of my thoughts in a personal journal. I am a bit anxious about this, like "why do I need to do this? Why not just keep it private?" but I figured it's worth a shot.
Oh and this blog won't JUST be my own personal diary or stuff like that. I'd love to share my thoughts on many different things, share headcanons, and even write short fanfic scenes and such. And maybe if I can ever find the charger for my digital drawing pen or get a new one, I could share my art which I plan to eventually take commissions for :)
My life isn't super interesting I suppose, but I like it. I play lots of different video games, challenge myself to expand my horizons, spend most of the day relaxing about due to my debilitating mental health, and engaging in fandoms I'm a part of. I'm also rekindling my love of reading after school and ADHD made it nearly impossible :(
I do use tone tags/indicators and I'd like if they could be used when interacting with me. It not only helps me distinguish tone in text, but it can also help me avoid anxiety attacks. I mean it when I say I'm asocial. I have Avoidant Personality Disorder and bad social anxiety and I can describe it as pretty much a fear of people. I also have Borderline and Histrionic Personality Disorder, schizophrenia, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, OCD, and Paranoid Personality Disorder. I'm not currently in therapy due to having bad experiences with therapists and not being able to find one for my needs partly due to still relying on my parents. However, I am working to cope and feel I'm in a much better place than before. I am also extremely interested in psychology so I love to learn about other disorders as well. I aim to get help, but I'm pretty much...stuck. I don't have much money, I rely on my parents, and every adult is pressuring me to work a "normal job" when the thought of that makes me feel trapped, suffocating, and like I would rather be unalived. I don't want to get too negative as this is a general "hello" and "get to know me" post, but I can't deny that I struggle with this.
As well as being asocial and terrified of people, I tend to just avoid others. I can make online friends and have people I enjoy being around, but it really can be so terrifying for me so usually even just a few minutes can mess me up.
I like to play Zelda games, Mario games, Pokemon. I play Sky Children of the Light, I love Animal Crossing especially New Horizons. I love the Monster Hunter series though I just have stories 1 and 2 and then 4 Ultimate. I've been playing Wizard101 again recently, I have two accounts that I use (mostly so I can play all 7 classes lol) and I love pet games like Nintendogs. I play Fall Guys as well. I play a lot of games and know plenty of em, but I obviously can't list every single one lol. Oh Stardew Valley! I'm big on that! My fave bachelor is Elliott :D he's just perfect especially since I love writing as well.
I'm not sure where else to go with this. I have a lovely girlfriend of 5 years, I have two irl best friends and an online best friend, my favorite color is purple, and I have an ever-growing collection of stuffed animals, hehe.
My ultimate pokemon team is Serperior (Seraph), Inteleon (Coral), Drednaw (Daisy), Reshiram (Reshy), Mimikyu (Miko), and Espeon (Eva) with a special mention of Banette (Snuppy.) So that basically sums up my personality lol. I'm super excited for the new games coming out too!
I love indie games! I can only game on switch due to my financial situation (computer is too old and can't afford a new one so running things like wizard101 is all it's good for lol), but I still love noting them for when some come out on switch or if I ever can get a good new computer!
My music taste is unique. I love a little bit of everything with punk and harder rock genres being more my style, but I also love weirdcore and stuff like that or songs that are like GHOST and pal's stuff! My faves of Ghost's are Reckless Battery Burns, specifically the Kevin version, The Distortionist, Appetite of a People Pleaser, Honey I'm Home, Black & White, Housewife Radio, Rotary Dial, Entomologists, Amygdala's Rag Doll, Star of the Show, Spider on the Wall, Only Somewhat Seen, Aura, The Chattering Lack of Common Sense.
I love Gorillaz and am obsessed with Jinx's song "Get Jinxed" (League of Legends/Arcane.) Those are my current hyperfixations, especially Cracker Island (feat. Thundercat.) I love Arcane, I high key kin Jinx and low key kin Vi. I have other kins, but uh it's such a long list lol.
My friend got me into Danganronpa. I've only seen the first two games so far so no spoilers for the other games please!
My mind is frazzled and I have things to do and gotta take my pills so I should probably hop off. This is just a fraction of me, but I hope ya like it. Either way, I think I'm gonna try to use this as an outlet or just try to be creative on here. I never was big on tumblr because I didn't understand it growing up (aside from liking tons of cool posts, hehe.) So I'm trying again. I'm happy to answer questions as well if anyone cares to ask. I ramble a lot cause it's how my brain works and I prefer writing long things. So um, I guess I'll just end it here. I'm happy to be here, I don't know what I expect, and I probably will be awkward and keep to myself aside from enjoying other people's content because so many talented folks are on here. Anyway, auf wiedersehen and have a wonderful day, dearies!
"I'm allowing change, so take a good look; this is me
This is what I've come to be"

What are your thoughts on the claim that Knightfall is a dangerous portrayal to men women? imo this is a buncha bullshit but a lot of people I see calling it a "crack ship" are also saying that if it ever happened it would be toxic and harmful. Some say the idea of having a man save a woman is wrong and others say having Jaune date a killer would ruin his character. How do you deal with stupidity on this level?
Lol it's bullshit. Of course it's bullshit. It's not even worth debating because it's such a waste of time and such a reductive opinion grounded in bad media analysis and bad philosophy. If you hear the word 'toxic' you need to stage exit the conversation, it's a red flag.
Sure, women consuming the wrong fiction will make them get into abusive relationships, I love the victim blaming here. Or attributing abuse in real life relationships being a result of fiction? Yeah, I am sure that is going to fly in sincere debates surrounding intimate partner violence (IPV). I can guaratee you if you read any surrounding literature about IPV or DV, the focus is not going to be on who likes Kylo Ren too much or reads the wrong type of romance.
Even then, I don't think Knightfall is a) a crackship - it most certainly isn't, thank you, it's very narratively justified, and one of Jaune's biggest moments in the show, well two of them, are with her, or b) something bad or toxic at all, in fact thematically motivating the relationship (in canon) would be healing, forgiveness, and compassion, and fundamentally uplifting the notion of nonviolence. So Knightfall isn't even anything textually 'problematic'.
If it were textually problematic I would still dismiss the notion it would have a serious impact on real-life relationships - though trying to draw some type of actual casual impact is extremely difficult, because the kinds of things influencing real life harm is actually multi-modal. If you care about that thing, sincerely and truly, which to be quite frank people obsessed with toxicity in fiction don't care. Motivating a lot of this is just cloaked ship wars, or 'me not like this and it hurts my fee-fees'. Or deep, profound resentment for the art and structure of narrative and metaphor.
The reality is that tonally R/WBY is fantastical and it is romantic. A character like Cinder Fall killing Pyrrha Nikos isn't just flatly about killing, it's also conveying lots of different ideas:
the inevitability of change and growth (ooh! Autumnal theming!), the violence of change, the complete unseating she symbolically represents in the story [for the characters to grow], the death of childhood, the complicated morality of an expanding worldview as you come to see adults as people/the world beyond black and white/understand what made Cinder do it
and if you flatly define that as 'Cinder Fall big bad meanie who need dieeeeee' then your analysis bad too. But the irony here is that people who say ships like Knightfall are toxic are people fundamentally not interested in a) metaphor and the relationship we have to stories emotionally, b) actual compassion and transformation and healing, c) actual harm in the real world, especially when they go out of their way to hurt real people over fiction. You don't know the shit I've seen in the Reylo fandom (and yes, Reylo is a feminine-driven narrative, Rey was on the Heroine's Journey (most prominently in TLJ), though Reylo and Knightfall aren't necessarily tonally 1:1). I mean it was really shocking and so bad I don't want to talk about it, and people used Reylo as a cover to harass Jewish Reylo fans - calling them N*zi apologists!, Black Reylo fans, female and trans fans, and I saw some really shocking stuff. Again and again and again. By the time we hit the pressure point of TROS I saw one of the most offensive opinions about Kylo Ren expressed and retweeted on Twitter, which I advise you to skip the rest of this paragraph if you are in a sensitive space mentally: a user suggested that actually, if Kylo Ren's evil is analogous to mental illness, sometimes mentally ill people really do need to kill themselves because they're beyond help. Tell me: how is Kylo Ren being naughty worse than that? It fucked me up and still fucks me up, not just because of that but because of other things I have experienced.
So just ignore their framework and their approach. It's not about harm and it's not about protecting people or caring about what sort of relationships ought to be depicted in media. It's using false concern to load their argument and make it impossible to debate because you might concede territory to the idea that toxicity is okay. It's literally impossible to ever hold a conversation and I can guarantee you that 99% of people I've encountered with that opinion are 100% disinterested in hearing anything to challenge the notion of 'toxicity' because it's not about that - it's about ship and story taste. And nihilistic storytelling. Because stories are stupid and metaphors are also stupid.
Some say the idea of having a man save a woman is wrong
Lol this isn't even what it would be, but they're automatically trying to say it will be because they can't conceive of Cinder as an active character in the story because a) big mean baddie and b) stupid woman, really showing their hand there about how they conceive of female characters. Jaune helping Cinder, when everybody else has completely failed her, is profoundly meaningful, and Cinder being able to act on her own terms is profoundly empowering considering her enslavement.
But anybody trying to convince you that community is weak and we shouldn't help each other and we can't be uplifted through connection either has an ulterior motive or is somebody who has bought into deeply cynical thinking, which is probably more hurtful than anything Cinder could do.
and others say having Jaune date a killer would ruin his character.
Ruin his character how? Because he's their self-insert and it disrupts their projection? Because Jaune shouldn't do something important and transformative and he's better off left to the side? Because his Semblance shouldn't have a serious impact on the story? Lol
Yeah, would be so much better if Jaune killed Cinder. I've heard that story before, it's tragic and I don't like it. The whole point of Cinder's redemption is it would redeem the tragedy of Pyrrha's death. It's narrative patterns babey
How do you deal with stupidity on this level?
For some context, I am a TFA-era Reylo. I have seen it all. People who say Knightfall is toxic etc. (which I honestly haven't even seen because I know how to curate my fandom experience - just avoid stuff you don't like if you dislike Knightfall) are like little babies. Watch this
The way I personally deal with it is actually just to recognise you're never really having the argument you think that you're having. If you're somebody who takes IPV and the depiction of women in media really seriously, and you are interested in the way we resonate with narrative and want to discuss what it means for people to identify with villains, and if you enjoy discussing things seriously and trying to hear the other side out, you are having the wrong conversation and your 'ummmm this ship is toxic!!!' interlocutor does not care.
Yes, I'll allow there's probably some actual anxiety and projection into 'problematic media' that is actually about earnest concern - that displacement isn't controversial. But I would say that this doesn't make up the majority of the crowd. They're not interested in peer-reviewed sources, they're not interested in the kinds of 'problematic' stories which have been a part of storytelling for all of human history - and they deny humanist universalism and connection through stories as well, for dealing with complicated experiences, they're not interested in seriously debating the topic. It is the fandom age-old story of ship wars, and what kind of story someone is expecting, and this is especially apparent now with the rise of corporate storytelling. An easy story with cynical self-awareness, good vs. bad, kill bad guy. Make sure to insert a joke in there just in case you are getting too emotionally sincere.
But that doesn't matter. It doesn't mean anything to those people. Don't bother. Find your bliss instead. That goes for people who don't like Knightfall: maybe stop trying to destroy things and ask for other people to do the dirty work of making 'pure' media, and try to create things yourself.
You know why those 'pure' fandoms scare off creators and pretty much have dead fandoms? Because this kind of anodyne narrative analysis is actually creatively deadening. It's boring. Once you overthink your story this way it's impossible to write for. It's much more freeing to work in service to narrative, not in service to perceived political good... which for that matter, is a total separate tin of worms, which once you open up is extremely dangerous. If a story must be 'politically good' in order to allow to be told, I can guarantee you it will be used by the powers that be, not to tell empowering stories.
None of this is to say that I don't seriously think about the way social attitudes imprint themselves on fiction. The argument here is that social attitudes imprinted on fiction are as harmful, or as concerning as harm in real life, and must be wholly avoided. I am very comfortable reading stories which contain misogyny; I can recognise it's wrong, and part of my critical analysis enables me to use my groan up girl brain to identify whether it's something being used by the story to further its themes or whether the author is a fuckwit. I like to think that many others are just the same.
But Knightfall's not even like that lol. If anything it's empowering. To me I find the story of the deeply wounded villainess who comes into her own feminine power and redeems it through someone reaching out to her with uncompromising and literally magical compassion like, um, very compelling. Narratively the only person who can forgive Cinder is Jaune. That's why it's fun. It's not about fighting what you hate, but saving what you love.
Also, if the deep wound of the story is Ozlem, Jaune and Cinder - two characters in an ensemble cast, yes - coming together and proving you could work back from Ozlem as enemies back to lovers is... everything. That's not just emotionally moving, that's actually seriously saying something.
Although to me, the idea that you can still come back from something, and fix it, and you're not too far gone, and you can change, and you can open your heart, and you could decide not to choose violence today, and you could have a home, and you could be free, and you could take on responsibility you're prepared for, is very moving. See? It's not about toxicity. In my opinion, it's a resistance to vulnerability. Bad characters who change and recognise badness in themselves are scary.
Thanks for your ask anon. I may have got a bit impassioned there... sorrey...

Writer v. Artist
I feel like the more I try to convey my stories in like, real art classes the more I realize I really am a writer-turned-artist not an artist-who-happens-to-be-a-writer, and the connotations of that difference
Let me explain (because I am Always down to explain random shit, its like My Things because I loathe bing misunderstood, yk how it is)
So I got into writing while I was homeschooled for a couple years in middle school (arguably one of the worst things to happen to me and my social skills, especially since right in the middle of that we moved states but that's another topic) because my mom had me do this writing program book thing instead of just normal English/grammar/etc.
I also learned to diagram sentences around this time, which was another experience in and of itself
But that writing program got me into writing little stories for myself. I started with a couple of little Minecraft-related things because I Was 12 And Obsessed, and while that ALSO led to a lot of other things like diving into the internet and learning what fanfiction was and watching/learning about FNaF which was my gateway fandom as a 13 year old, it also led me to start drawing my characters. I'd been obsessed with dragons since I saw HTTYD as a much smaller child and ended up mashing those two things together and creating a story out of it
(My first story was about a girl who was part Ender Dragon. Yes, 12 year old me was proud of it and I'm not going to make her sad by being ashamed of that!! But it WAS cheesy.)
And I just kind of. Kept writing after the program was finished!! I never really stopped, actually. I took what I created for that little program and turned it into another (still video game related) story that was longer and had just,, SO MANY parts. FNaF got involved bc that was my next obsession/hyperfixation. I made a dozen AUs of half a dozen games and franchises by the time I was 14, and when I was 14 an a freshman in High School I made my first original thing.
"Immortal Idiots." The mashup of stories and original universe ideas and a budding magic system and species that became Broken Dimensions (YEARS later, after revising and editing and AU'ing and not being serious about any of it until I was 17 and taking COMP II at my local college through CCP).
I kept doing art all that time because I needed the visuals for my stories because that's just How My Brain Operates!! Never once did I think of being an author though. Not seriously, not until I realized I was writing a book and had no idea what to do with that information as an 18 year old finishing up their senior year of high school. I wanted to be an artist. I had wanted to be an artist since I was 15 and decided that was a career I saw myself excelling in.
(I used to want to be a marine biologist or a vet or, idk, a rancher out in the Middle of Nowhere, USA. I'd pay real money to know my mother's reaction when I said I wanted to make art for a living lol.)
But the art was always a thing I did to keep my writing juices flowing. They worked together. And sure, I can make art not related to my projects and have gotten better at doing so since getting to university and expanding my skills and experiences a little, but I'm still so focused on the expanded Broken Dimensions universe. And I don't have a problem with that! But it is making me realize, as I try and drudge through a story and concept class, that I Am NOT Great at makign stories that do not, in some way, tie back to BrDim.
Probably because I've spent years building out this giant world inside my head to the point that sometimes I wonder if it'll pull a Tlön, Uqbar, Tertius and come to life all on its own. @interdimensional-lore and the giant ass Milanote dedicated to the project are testament to the fact that I live with my brain in the BrDim universe like 55% of the time at LEAST.
But the idea that I am "a writer-turned-artist not an artist-who-happens-to-be-a-writer" is really starting to be a pain in the ass because I have gotten so used to being immersed in a fictional world that I've curated and developed that I forget sometimes that not everyone else know those stories. It's like I'm a Broken Dimensions History major and everyone else is someone outside my field of expertise who thinks my major doesn't exist until I tell them it does! Which is essentially true, because I've spent years developing all of this and posting it on social media, but until last spring, I'd sat at around 200 followers on Instagram, none of whom were interactive and only a tenth of which saw my content, and no one DID know that the project existed.
(I makes me wonder, too, what it would have been like if I'd told my mom what "Immortal Idiots" was about. If I'd told her the truth about Broken Dimensions outright, about the freedom and the queerness and the found family and the underlying references to all the mental health issues I was facing/still face today. If she knew that Fin and Ev were really gay now, that I wasn't pandering to the alt-right beliefs I grew up under anymore and saying Ev was a woman pretending to be a man (which can be a compelling story in some situations but was in fact just bigotry and BS in this one). If she knew WHY Ev is my favorite character, or why Fin is still one of my comfort OCs (they've both been controlled or silenced, they're both queer and have had to hide it, they're both images of what I wish I was in some way shape or form). To summarize: I wonder what would be different about me or the story or my career choice had my mother known what, exactly, was going on the whole time. What I was deliberately giving myself "exposure therapy" for and why I see reluctant to go back to church in-person (or at all), and that I don't go at all when I'm at university. I wonder how her approval/disproval would have affected me as a teenager, and now as an adult.
I just wonder so goddamn much.)
-
I've thought about all this a lot the past few days in relation to a botched one-on-one story and concept check-in with a professor. I came in unprepared to talk about a story I had switched to, and it all came out as CHAOS. Couldn't speak in a coherent explanatory sentence, had no thoughts whatsoever, essentially communicated to this poor confused man (I was crying by the end of this, god I'm so sorry mike) that I had no idea where this story-in-my-head was going.
Except that the problem was that simply hadn't given myself enough time to translate five years' worth of story compilation into an outline to base myself off of.
That's not related to the writer v artist issue, that's just anxiety and chronic procrastination. But it made me realize how strange it was to finally be talking about a story I've wanted to do for years. (And how unfamiliar I am with being allowed to talk about my stories in any real, VERBAL capacity.) And it led to this disjointed introspection about my experience as a writer, then an artist. And how I didn't make that distinction from "artist who writes" until 2022.

tumblr etiquette 101
a list that is nowhere near exhaustive, from yours truly.
First off, welcome! Whether you’re a twitter veteran looking for anything but whatever twitter is, or a new user just done signing up, glad to see you in our ranks beloveds! Welcome home. Refer to this quick tour to make sure your fandom experience (or tumblr experience in general) is a positive one!
Disclaimer: I know it’s long, but please try to read or skim through til the end if you’re new here! This is by no means meant to be a rule book (for the most part lol), only a guide to help you get settled easier!
1) Your blog
This is where people will see and interact with you, so put some effort into it!
Try to choose a name (url) that’s simple. You can see it as your brand, it’s how people will perceive you and remember you. If you’d like to interact with other users here (and not use the site just for the content) it’s better to have something short and sweet, preferably without spaces. (Of course, these are only suggestions.) Rest assured, you can change it literally any time you want.
Have a theme. Utilize the tool that lets you edit your blog’s color or the font of your bio! You can make it match your profile picture, or your blog if it has a theme of its own. Make it feel homey :]
Fill in your bio. People will be checking out your profile probably more often than you think. Don’t leave it empty! Put in any information you’re comfortable with sharing and isn’t too personal (like your age if you’re a minor, or other TMI that can be found on other people’s carrds). It’s always better to add a name/nickname people can use to refer to you by, but feel free to use your blog description to shitpost still.
You can have an intro post. More often than not, you’ll see a blog have a pinned post, a post permanently appearing at the top of a blog until you pin another post or unpin it. You can make one of those, if you’d like to introduce yourself in more length, link any other socials or a carrd, and show others visiting your blog how you tag things so it’ll be easy for them to navigate. Not an obligation.
Keep your anonymity and your safety. It should go without saying, but there’s no harm in repeating it just in case. Your comfort, privacy and safety has the utmost importance. Don’t share any information you don’t want to. Don’t share your age if you’re a minor, or any other incredibly personal info. I’d encourage you to go by a nickname that’s not your real name, (blog name, your brand, remember?) since there’s safety in anonymity, and that’s lowkey one of the big deals of tumblr, but that’s up to you still.
Choose what you want to be visible. Your liked posts and who you follow are all things you can set to keep to yourself and hide from the publics eye, how handy! You should go through all the setting while you’re at it, set it to your comfort.
Side blogs are a thing. You can have multiple blogs that you can use for different things (see: different fandoms, art blog, etc) to keep them organized or away from your followers. Just remember that the replies and off-anon asks you send will be from your main blog, as well as where you follow other blogs from.
2) Interacting with others
You’ve set up your account, now comes the fun part!
Follow to your heart’s desire. If you care about others seeing who you follow, fear not! In tumblr, usually only two types of blogs keep their following visible to others: newbies, and big blogs using it to point people on other good blogs’ direction. Just turn it off, and go ham following people.
Customize your dashboard. Gonna mention just two things here: this is another reason why it’s really important that you follow blogs without sparing, your dash will collect dust otherwise; and you should turn off “best stuff first” in your dashboard settings, to have a better community here and all.
Follow tags. You can set it in your settings that posts with your followed tags appear on your dashboard.
You can check the og post for edits and context. When you see a reblogged post you don’t understand the context of (or don’t recognize the character in case of fanarts), click on the profile so it will take you to the original post. From there you can check the original poster’s tags to get the context, or see if there have been any edits made to the post, since when you edit a post it doesn’t update any past reblogs.
Send people asks... This is how you make mutuals, people! Do it off-anon if you’d like them to know your blog, or anon if you’d rather not! (You can still end your messages with a signature to show you’re the same person, -[name] is one example.) Send them nice messages, ask their opinion on something, discuss things, or just straight up shitpost lol. Go wild. The sky’s your limit and it’s definitely more than 280 characters.
...and let them ask you! You can set your preference in the settings, do it on desktop tumblr to access more settings tho! What you can customize on mobile is limited (like letting people ask you things anonymously, that’s only on desktop settings). In my personal opinion, it’s always better to tag their username (or a nickname you give them, if they’re a friend) on that post, since you wouldn’t want your interactions with your friends to get buried in your blog forever.
Comment on posts. If you have something to say but don’t want the post to appear on your blog you can add a comment. The owner of the post will get a notif for it, but for anyone else you need to tag them.
For the love of god, reblog. People will only see your liked posts if you have it visible to public and they specifically go on your blog to look at them. You like something? You reblog. It’s already hard for posts to circulate properly, if you don’t reblog them literally no one will see them. If not for anything do it for the artists. Just hold and drag on mobile to fast rb.
3) Your Posts
Finally here! Don’t be a lurker, post and engage!
Make use of “read more”. If your post is long, add it. That’s what you clicked on earlier to expand this post. On desktop leave an empty line and you’ll see three dots appear, and on mobile type :readmore: on that empty line.
Draft a post to come back to it later. Pretty self explanatory.
Queue your post. Whether it’s your own post or you’re reblogging, make use of the queue feature to a) not spam reblog and fill up the dashboard of people following you and b) keep your blog active while you’re gone. Mess around in the settings, it’s fairly easy to set up.
Schedule your post. Same as queueing, the only difference is you get to choose the exact time your post will go up. Handy if you want to schedule a post for certain dates like april fools, or 5 years in the future for some reason.
Format your texts. You can do all kinds of fancy stuff here (that’s a link, try pressing on it). Twitter doesn’t have this, make use of it. Changes depending on whether you’re on mobile or desktop. (Desktop has less features.)
Check your stats. If you’re trying to understand the algorithm better or want to look at some pretty graphs you can get your data on that on desktop tumblr.
@ people in comments. You’ll get all the notifs when people comment on your posts but they won’t see your reply unless you tag them in your message.
4) Tags, and tagging a post
This is where my earlier statement “this isn’t a rule book” stops being applicable. It’s not a war crime to go against these, I won’t come chasing you (don’t take my word for this) but you’ll work up a bad rep. Just saying lol.
Do NOT crosstag posts. It’s really tempting to add unrelated tags to increase your posts’ interaction, I know, but that’s not what tumblr is about. Don’t be a dick and make other communities’ experience worse for them.
Always tag your posts with “crit/critical/discourse/etc” if it calls for it. There’s no exceptions to it. This is the reason you see people migrating to tumblr. Let people enjoy things.
Don’t main tag a critical/negative post. If your crit post is about “Thing”, you add the “Thing critical” tag, but not the “Thing” tag. People block crit tags if they don’t want to see it, don’t shove it in their faces by main tagging it.
If you don’t want to see something, just block it. Another reason why people are able to survive on tumblr. You don’t start discourse, you don’t make call-outs, you block. You can find something for every community you can think of if you go looking for it. The worst of the worst probably won’t ever appear on your dash, but if you’re worried or feel the need for it, you know where the block button is.
Feel free to shitpost or ramble. More often than not you’ll see people rb a post with a comment, and their elaboration will be in the tags. The tags are only visible on your profile and the notifications of the owner of the og blog. Just a thing people do.
Reblog artists’ posts with nice comments in the tags! Commenting on a drawing is usually done through the tags (Not an obligation, again, just a thing people do. Feel free to add your comment on the rb itself if you’d want other people to see it tho!) and leave nice messages for the artists! It’s a win-win for everyone involved.
If you have more than a single follower, always use the common tw warning tags. You don’t need to tw everything, but tw’ing some common things is the bare minimum human decency. Keep it safe for others.
Tag a post “long post” if it’s really long. Pretty self explanatory. Don’t make people scroll through all that please lol.
You can use them to organize your blog. This is more of a pro tip, if you’d like to not miss a post in your blog, cause they will start pilin’ up soon enough.
#Liveblogging is pretty fun. If you’d like to talk to people during streams, don’t forget to add the relevant tags still! Again, you won’t show up on people’s dash otherwise.
Whew! That got out of hand. Hopefully I didn’t bore you too much. Check out blogs like @heritageposts and @hellsite-hall-of-fame to honor our past o7. @mcytblr-hall-of-fame too maybe :eyes:. Anyways, don’t forget the most important rule of them all:
Enjoy your stay! You’re meant to have fun on here while also making friends (if that’s your thing). Just be kind and respectful of others, you’ll get the hang of the rest! <3

I'm still learning tho but I love graphic and editorial design so I can't wait to mess around more with this aesthetic.
I thought that I would expand my introduction here and write a little bit of details about myself ૮ • ﻌ - ა
Name: Alexandra
Age: 24
Pronouns: she/her
Country: Poland/Europe
Styles: I overall like coquette aestetis and I would't say that I have a favourite one but right now I am really drawn to angel coquette aesthetic and y2k but with more emphasis on white, gray and silver designs.
Zodiac: capricorn sun, aries moon, virgo rising
Interests: I really like fine art, to this point that I studied it in collage and now I'm taking courses about history of contemporary art. I also like to draw, paint and design, but nowdays I spent more time reading and writing.
Hobbies: k-pop, I just don't know... i've been following many different groups for years and it's always fun for me to watch different stages, watch mv and look at newest fashion and make-up trends.
I also really like reading and playing video games but unfortunetly I don't have much time for that. I mostly read things for school now lol.
Extra info: I've been on tumblr for quite some time but I wasn't in coquette community back then. I was aware of it because it was very popular and since it overlaped with soft grunge aesthetic at some points it was immposible to miss it. But I was more into different fandoms back then and I was more focused about making awful fan-arts because I wan't particularly good at drawing as teenager haha. And actually I got fammiliar with modern coquetts by Tik-Tok. Not cool but it is what it is. I felt so nostalgic after seeing all of this short videos that I decided to go back on tumblr haha and so here I am.
Nice to meet you~

Thoughts on fandom: inclusion and engagement.
Tumblr media
(Art credit to the kindhearted @penpanoply!)
There’s been some stuff floating around on Tumblr about strife in the CO/WS fandom, and though I haven’t been explicitly named-dropped on anything public, my DMs have been... active. lol Rather than rehash what’s been said already, I just want to impart a little wisdom and perspective in the hopes it may soothe frayed feelings and offer a way ahead for cultivating a respectful community. As someone who has been an active participant in online fandoms since the mid-’90s, which was the advent of online fandom content creation (shout out to my fellow X-Philes!), and who has also spent a chunk of her professional life managing social media for the federal government and for activist groups, I can promise you it’s all gonna be okay.
Here’s some context for why strife happens and what we can do to create a more inclusive and communicative fandom environment.
1) It sounds cliché, but fandoms go through growing pains.
In the case of the Simon Snow fandom, what was once a small and cozy space untouched by cataclysmic events (such as the release of *gasp* a sequel) has grown exponentially in a relatively short amount of time following the release of Wayward Son. Newcomers are eager to find a home in this space at the same time as folks who’ve been here a while may be consciously or unconsciously wary about widening their circle, and It’s important to remember that this is not necessarily an expression of bad behavior on either side but just human psychology doing its thing.
The byproduct, however, is that tension and stress builds over time from the lack of meaningful communication across the divide, which subsequently fuels misunderstandings. Ironically, the interfaces we use to communicate don’t help with this because any existing communication about the tension happens in tiny vacuums until a trigger goes off and bad feelings go public.
Way Ahead: These moments of destabilization are opportunities to see where we can be more self aware about how we engage with fandom and the kind of community we want to be. Can you promote, support, or befriend someone trying to gain a foothold? If yes, please do! Each person must reach their own decision about what they can do within the confines of their available energy, health, and time, but a little self awareness goes a long way as long as you’re honest with yourself and others if applicable about what you can contribute. Anyone who judges you for it isn’t worth the strife.
2) In a fandom comprised of vulnerable/marginalized people, it’s more accurate to say that cliques are “bubbles of trust.”
This one's important. Just by nature of the source material, the CO/WS fandom includes fans with a wide array of backgrounds and experiences, especially when it comes to those who identify with the characters’ queerness, mental illness, and/or trauma. I really believe––based on individual conversations/group chats––that the difficult lived experiences that so many of our fandom peers have endured has produced one of the most open, aware, and accepting fandoms I’ve had the pleasure of participating in. Our vulnerability is, in a real way, our strength.
That said, a community of survivors also has the side effect of cultivating small circles of engagement that I call “bubbles of trust.” When you’re a survivor of abuse, marginalization, mental illness, fill-in-the-blank, it’s often quite hard to risk casting a wide net and expanding your circle to include new faces––which can subsequently be internalized by equally sensitive and vulnerable newcomers as rejection, judgement, or inadequacy.
Way Ahead: First of all, there may indeed be gatekeeping and exclusion going on. But before internalizing someone’s cagey behavior as gatekeeping or purposely exclusionary, ask yourself if you have all the information. Many people are private (I include myself in this assessment) because life has regrettably taught them to be this way, and so they may insulate themselves to a small group of people who have earned their trust. Some people might also triggered by certain content (case in point: smut triggers my anxiety) so they don’t engage with it. Others might have something in their pasts that define how they handle certain subjects (for example, a person of color should not be tone policed for getting angry when confronted with a racialized microagression, however accidental it was). You just don’t know what you don’t know.
The solution here is to regularly check your privilege and ask questions in a private space if you sense you’re being treated unfairly by someone. If you go public with your grievances in hopes of mobilizing the mob, you may accidentally find yourself stepping into the role of the aggressor instead of the victim.
3) Social Media is not built to help you get engagement. It’s built to help itself make money off of you.
Repeat after me: Hits/likes are not a measurable indicator of talent or worth. There are ridiculously talented folks on Tumblr and elsewhere who, for whatever reason, haven’t had their viral moment, and it’s not their fault. Loads of factors come into play where things like likes, reblogs, and comments are concerned, among them being posting frequency, subject matter, the time of day, the day of the week, the week of the month, the month of the year, the current administration, the stock exchange, the concentration of middle class users, who just won the Superbowl, a madman trying to steal an election and undermine the democratic process, a PANDEMIC, do you get where I’m going with this?? lol
At the end of the day, my humble successes have been helped along by good luck, good timing, high profile signal boosters, and an absurd amount of work. (This is why I try to signal boost new work whenever I get a chance over at @vkelleyshares.)
So while you cannot control Tumblr’s interface, trends at large, or your fellow users, here’s what you can do to ensure you give your work the best possible chance of exposure.
Have an image ready to go with your post. Tumblr is a visual platform (no matter what it says about being good for text). Not good with images? Set up a Canva.com account and get access to free graphic software with a gazillion templates to create whatever attractive image you want to attach to your post.
Keep the outward facing text brief and easy on the eyes. Too long and eyes will glaze over. Put excess text behind a “read more.”
You may think you’re being cute when you do this, but don’t put yourself down in your posts. (Don’t put yourself down in general, of course.) Doing so acts as engagement repellant. If you don’t believe in your work, no one else will.
Related: Be your best cheerleader. Confidence is a magnet, and if you don’t have it, go ahead and fake it until you start to convince yourself you are worth the buzz. So promote yourself! You have gifts that only you can impart. Use that knowledge to fuel everything you do from your art/fiction writing to your outreach with other content creators, and by golly, if someone’s done it already, acknowledge that contribution and then tell the world that this is YOUR unique take on it.
Treat your fellow fandom creators as human beings, not art/fiction/content boosting machines. I cannot count how many times I’ve had folks slide into my DMs with offers of friendship only to disappear once they realize I’m not available to draw a picture for their fic. It hurts because it’s manipulative and it makes me want to hole up and not signal boost anyone. Creators who truly support each other will not give off a transactional vibe. I want to help you reach more people, but not if that’s all I’m good for in your eyes.
The long and short of it: Lead with compassion, do your best with the opportunities at  your disposal, and remember that fandom belongs to everyone in it. ❤️
What saves a fandom made of sensitive and vulnerable souls from imploding when it goes through growing pains is radical compassion from those who can offer it. Begin with the assumption that your fellow fandomers are not trying to harm you, and wade into the water knowing that your insight into the lives of your peers is limited by default and you may need to temper your words or actions accordingly. If you’re a content creator, save compassion for yourself as well, as there are indeed challenges to gaining an audience, and lack of engagement does not mean you lack talent or skill. Be your best advocate, and if you have the bandwidth to lift up a fellow creator and make a new friend, please, go ahead do it!
And finally, fandom belongs to everyone, and no one has a monopoly on characters, tropes, or themes. Create and consume what you love (with respect for your more vulnerable peers), and bask in the variety, my friends!
That’s all I’ve got in my head at the moment, although I’m sure there’s more I’m forgetting. Thanks so much to @penpanoply for letting me use her art for this and to everyone else, hang in there and try not to judge each other too harshly. These are unprecedented times, and most of us are doing our best in circumstances that are pushing us to our limits.
As always, if you have questions or want to sound off on anything, shoot me a message or an ask, or ping me on Discord. It might take me a second to respond (thanks, Covid) but I’ll get to it! Love, love, and more love to all.

Give Me a Second Chance Chapter List
Prompt(s): Reincarnation/Transmigration AU. Angst. Fluffy.
Pairing(s): Damian Wayne (DC) x Marinette Dupain-Cheng (MLB).
Summaries: Reincarnation? Transmigration? What?... It's not the first time Marinette heard about those terms but IT'S the first time she experienced it herself! Is this a curse under the disguise of blessing? She doesn't know but she had intended to find out the truth. ...Or at least that's what she was planning... Until she realizes she's not in Paris anymore and her second life is so different on many levels! Living in Gotham? Check. A new sister? Check. No ladybug? Check, at least not yet but if Marinette isn't in Paris anymore then there'll be no Ladybug and Chat Noir in her life, yes? So she thought her life would be finally peaceful... Until she meets the Batfamily... great.
Okay before getting to the story, I need to give you AN beforehand, sorry.
AN: Hello, I'm back from the death (heh). Sorry for being gone suddenly, it's been like one or two years? Anyway, I had been busy with real-life problems... Although, finally I graduated! Now I got the inspiration to continue this story after reading some of Daminette's fanfics hehe. I won't guarantee that the story will be good since I had problems:
- English is not my first language (I had to use google translate or Grammarly for help lol), and I had a problem with how to transfer my idea into good words. I'm stressing myself out to make a good sentence. I do indeed already done with my rough drafts (it has 25 pages in total) until the ending but I'm still struggling to expand that rough drafts into chapters or to put it nicely, I don't know how to turn that rough drafts into interesting chapters lol :"). But I felt guilty if I don't post this because I've promised you and I'm not a person who likes to break a promise unless I'm forced to.
- I'm not following MLB anymore since... Cat Blanc incident (Actually I've not watched that episode too but at least I've heard about it). Not only that, I'm not following Batman's adventure too, I learned their characters only from fanfictions I've read, not including the Maribat fandom. So yeah, expect some or maybe all characters to be OOC. I'll try not to make them cringe, okay.
- The story probably would end up different from how I planned on the beginning because when I re-read it again now, I found out there's some that I don't like, or I am already bored with it so I changed it.
- This is not a problem, but I'm opening commissions for drawing. If you are interested, you can check my IG: @zerotosiki for my art examples.
I deliberately put AN on here so it's doesn't interfere with my main story's pages. Okay, if you've done reading all of my AN, I would like to thank you for patiently reading from the bottom of my heart. Now onto the story!
Chapter List:
Chapter 1
Chapter 2
I'm not tagging anyone on this page because I felt it was unnecessary? Since I already tagged them in my chapter's story anyway, which I felt more suitable.
