On 8 September, 1985, 16-year-old Sean Sellers went to a convenience store that he had visited earlier and been denied beer. Once here, he shot the store clerk, Robert Bowers.
Six months later, on 5 March, 1986, Sellers had an argument with his mother and father over his current girlfriend. His parents went to bed and during the night, Sellers shot the both of them. He then attempted to make it look like an intruder had broken into the family home and killed them.
He was apprehended and during his murder trial, he claimed he had been possessed by the demon, Ezurate, and that he had been reading The Satanic Bible by Anton Lavey “hundreds of times” during the period of the murders. In his confession, he stated: “I got very involved in Satanism. I truly thought it was an honest way to live, and the rituals of it would enable me to control my life.”
He was handed a death sentence and sent to Death Row, where he became a born-again Christian. Anti death penalty advocates fought hard for Sellers due to his young age when the crime was committed and his reformation inside prison.
Regardless, on 19 February, 29-year-old Sellers was executed by the lethal injection. He is one of  the 22 inmates in the US to be executed for crimes they committed when they were under the age of 18, since the death penalty was reinstated in 1976.

recently saw a tiktoker talk about an ongoing case and say (direct quote) “we are literally watching a true crime documentary unfold before our very eyes” and that really sums up a lot of the criticisms I have about the way people talk about and consume true crime content. people are already twisting real peoples deaths into its potential future entertainment value for them before the family even has time to grieve

since jeffrey dahmer is a trending topic again.........
most of his victims were black because he was aware that the government wouldn’t do much of anything to help them.
just because he fucked black people did not mean he liked them. he is proof that you can fuck black people and still be racist.

Crime stories are a fundamentally conservative way of looking at the world. Republicans bleat about high crime rates in lawless liberal cities because someone stole a toothbrush from a CVS. Suburban crime paranoia is as old as the suburbs themselves — hell, it’s why they exist to begin with. The reactionary basis of true crime is how you end up with ostensibly liberal podcast hosts defending the death penalty and arguing against double jeopardy protections. It’s easy and correct to condemn Fox News for increasing our grandparents’ blood pressure, keeping them in a perpetual state of fear about roving gangs of MS-13 coming to their gated communities, but we should also consider that other demographics might be susceptible to fear-stoking propaganda. How can we listen to story after story of women being abducted or murdered and expect it to not have an effect on our psyche? A study conducted by the University of Pennsylvania found that fear of crime and violence on television have both increased over time, despite crime rates declining, and that women reported more fear of crime on surveys than men. True crime runs on heightened emotion and fear, convincing people, and especially women, that every stranger is a possible murderer. I see women on Twitter questioning whether it’s safe to let a plumber into their house, or instructing others to rip out strands of hair to leave in cabs for DNA evidence in case the driver murders you. These are not sensible reactions, they are the thoughts of someone who has been deeply traumatized. So many true crime shows advise women to trust their instincts, but how can we trust instincts that have been hijacked by induced anxiety?

Since the new danhmer seris is out, I want to remind everyone don’t be wild with this. Don’t make fanpost about him, Fanfics or fancams/edits.
He is not a fictional character or a good person, but was an evil real asshole.
Remember to be adults or at least mature. Don’t idolize this man. Idolizing him will be disrespectful to these young men.

Y'all if I see one fucking slash or smut fic with Jeffrey Dahmer just because Evan Peters plays him I'm setting Tumblr on fire.
I haven't seen one but I know you, Fandom. He's played some pretty messed up people in the past but they were Fictional. Now it's not.
Don't even think about it.
I know you like Evan and he's a great guy and his blonde hair brings you back to Tate era but Jeffrey Dahmer was a real person who did actual horrible things and caused a lot of pain that still haunts their descendants nowadays.
It's not an attempt to censor or anything but please it's just wrong and completely dismisses the point of the show and is disrespectful to the victims and their families.
So PLEASE admire his work (and the rest of the cast and crew's) praise his outstanding performance, but don't forget it's not a fictional character you can thrist over.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk

Police officers responding to the Uvalde School Shooting have been criticized after they reportedly refused to enter the school to apprehend the gunman, Salvador Ramos, and preventing parents from entering the premises, going as far as pinning heartbroken relatives to the ground.
