Almost one month until I start testosterone!
It's also that time of year when directors start sending out their contracts and letters of availability to musicians like myself, and I've had to start coming out to all of them in response. So far, I've gotten nothing but support from everyone and it genuinely makes me so grateful.
The general message I've been sending to them has been as follows:
"As part of my transition, I have decided to undergo hormone replacement therapy, and will be taking testosterone starting May 28th of this year. One of the effects of testosterone (as I'm sure you are aware) is on the voice. Its effects are the same as young men undergoing puberty, so my voice will most likely deepen over time into that of a phenotypically "masculine" voice. This is a decision I do not make lightly, and have come to after many years of consideration. I will be taking regular lessons with Dr. (DM me if you're looking for resources) who specializes in transgender voices as I undergo these changes. My goal is to continue singing at the highest level regardless of how my voice changes, but where it will most comfortably settle and how long that will take is up to genetics and fate. By next year, I may be able to sing tenor or baritone, though I intend to train my upper register to sing countertenor if possible."
Then I thank them and let them know that I'd like to re-audition for their ensembles when my voice has settled more. They've all responded positively and with excitement for me, and the chorusmaster for my city's opera company even said there would be no need, as she knows the work of the professor I'm taking lessons with and thinks I would benefit from being on stage this season(!!!!)
In other news, the symphony I do admin for had their soprano soloist drop out of the Mozart Requiem so guess who's learning the part and performing it in two weeks? Your boy!! It feels a bit kismet. What better way to honor the end of my soprano career than with a requiem?
I'm still nervous to all hell but I'm just so tired of living like this. I just feel like this decision is going to change everything for the better for me.

Yes, we know that it isn't totally proper to use today's terms to discuss people who lived a long time ago. But also, how else do we talk about our community history in a way that's understood, and celebrate our shared queerness, other than to use the words and iconography which are understandable to us now? We celebrate our shared history with the words and understandings most accessible to all of us, and we hope that by providing not just the pins but a few elementary facts about these historical figures, we'll encourage people to read more about them in their original context.

I had the idea of writing about some historical queer figures I find interesting and drawing them for this pride month as a little project of mine. I will see how many I'll have time to do, I have in mind at least four other historical people, but knowing myself, I'm not holding my breath for all of them. Julie d'Aubigny she been one of my favorite historical figures for years so I decided to start with her.
Historical Queer Figures - Julie d'Aubigny
Julie d'Aubigny, also known as Mademoiselle Maupin and La Maupin, was a French opera singer and fencer in the late 1600s. She was infamous for having sapphic relationships, being aggressive and dramatic, having androgynous presentation by occasionally dressing in men's clothing in public and being a fencer and duelist. Trans and genderqueer readings of her are very possible, but because none of the accounts of her (at least those I've read) suggests she ever used any other than feminine first names or terms or she/her pronouns about herself, I will use she/her pronouns when talking about her.
The French court absolutely loved to gossip and people were constantly making up libel about the people they didn't like, and Julie had a lot of enemies and was very controversial figure. During the 18th and 19th centuries she was written about a lot in these highly sensationalized Encyclopedias, where the rumors from her lifetime got increasingly wilder and sensational. She was accused for example of seducing noble women in court balls, burning down a convent and murder. There's not much primary sources left or available from her actual lifetime so distinguishing truth from fiction is not an easy task in her case. Kaz Rowe did great job in their youtube video about her to try to actually find out where the stories of her life comes from. They go through some great context too about the rumor industry in the French court at the time so I highly recommend checking it out.

The Timeline of Most Concrete Events
Let's first go through the things that have at least a bit more backing than a rumor started 100 years after her death. Julie d'Aubigny was born between 1670 and 1673. Her father was Gaston d'Aubigny, the secretary of Louis of Lorraine, count d’Armagnac, who was Master of Horses to King Loius XIV, and her mother is unknown. She was probably brought to the Versailles court in 1682, where she got a full education including academic subjects, riding and fencing, usually only thought for boys. She was married off to a Sieur de Maupin (first name unknown) probably around 1687, when she would have been 14 to 17 years old. He apparently got a position from a southern province as a tax collector. The stories about her claim she remained in Paris, but I don't think there's evidence of this, though what we do know of her adult life does suggest she was estranged from her husband and lived apart from him. Nevertheless, she did end up in Marseilles, where she first appeared on stage in Marseilles Opéra between 1687 and 1690. She didn't have education in music, but her good looks and beautiful voice landed her the role.
Her first appearances in the Paris Opéra are listed to 1690, so that is probably when she had her debut there. She became a very talked about figure and she gained both friends and enemies in the opera and the court. She performed in the Paris Opéra for probably four years, after which she went to Brussels, Bavaria, where she performed with the Opéra du Quai au Foin at least during 1697 and early 1698, after which she returned to France to perform again with the Paris Opéra.
It was the period when her career peaked and she got a lot of leading female roles. Those roles in French opera were at the time soprano roles, but Julie's natural voice range was lower, contralto. (There's a whole thing where at the time she was described as mezzo-soprano, but the music historian consensus is that her range matches contralto in modern terms as opera was sang on lower cords across the board at the time. (I understand nothing about music theory so I just hope I managed to explain this correctly)) She excelled in secondary female roles of goddesses and warrior women. For the leading roles she had to sing on higher notes than was natural to her and the naive and dainty personalities of those roles clashed with her own personality. Some later retellings of her life claim she performed male roles for female singers (which was common practice, and these roles were often those of young boys), but all known records of her roles are female roles. In 1702 on the leading composers of the Paris Opéra, André Campra, wrote her a leading lady role in Tamcréde, which is often credited to have the first leading female role for contralto. But her perhaps most famous role was as Médée in Medus, which was considered to be a very difficult role. Apparently the original leading singer had fallen ill before the debut so Julie was quickly trained in her stead, but succeeded well and got a lot of praise for the role.
In 1703 Julie started an affair with Madame la Marquise de Florensac, who was said to have been the most beautiful woman in France. This is the affair of hers of which there's most evidence. De Florensac was married and had children, but she was also rumored to have many affairs. Julie lived quietly together with her for two years. They were described by a contemporary to have lived in perfect harmony, always spending time together and only appearing in public when necessarily. Julie deputed in her last role in 1705 and ended her career after De Floransac died of sudden fever. Nothing concrete is known about the rest of her life, not even how or when she died, but she is usually speculated to have died in 1707.
Parsing History from Fantasy
Chronologically the rumor that places earliest in her life was that she had "an affair" with count d’Armagnac (age 46 at the time), before she got married in the same year so as a 14 to 17 year old. There doesn't seem to be any actual evidence of this and even if that really happened, it wouldn't have been an affair, it would have been grooming and sexual violence. Related to it is the rumor that the count arranged her marriage and sent her husband away, but kept her in the court with him. Then she "got bored" of the count and ran away with an assistant sword-master, Séranne, to southern France. They got money by performing fencing matches in fairs and taverns while they were traveling till they got to Marseilles, where she first appeared in opera.
The stories of her in this period are generally written in a super nasty tone, and she (as supposed 14 yo) is written as the seductress and the adult men are written as the victims of her fiery temper and fitfulness. All these stories seem pretty unlikely though. The rumor about the count seems (unfortunately) most possible, but accounts from 18th and 19th century about these early events in her life don't seem to be based on any information from her lifetime. I find it most likely that the writers in 18th and 19th centuries were filling out the blanks we don't know from her life and painting her as this (in their eyes) degenerate seductress from an early age. An alternative possible explanation could have been that she indeed accompanied her husband to south, perhaps near Marseilles, where she then performed with the Marseilles Opéra. Many sources claim though that she performed with her maiden name there, which would be odd if she was living with her husband. I don't know where that claim comes originally, but it could be false of course. Although the generally proposed year of her marriage could also be false, which would explain why she at first performed with her maiden name, and later in Paris and always after that with her husband's name. That would not explain how she ended up going to Marseilles though.
The next and perhaps the most infamous and coolest story of her sets somewhere shortly before 1690. In that story she fell in love with a girl in Marseilles and the girls parents sent her to a convent to avoid a scandal. Julie went to the convent with the premise of wanting to become a novice. They tried to frame the girl's death by putting a dead nun's body into the girls bed and setting it on fire and then went on the run for couple of months. While on the run Julie was sentenced to death in absentia, but after returning to Paris and rekindling her relationship with count d'Armagnac, he got the king to pardon her. As amazing as this story is, it's very likely not true. It seems quite unlikely that the 15 to 19 year old Julie would have done that, but even more unlikely that she'd just get all her charges dropped and these crimes wouldn't have hindered at all her career, which hadn't even properly begun yet. The first surviving description of this incident comes from a letter of her contemporary court lady, Madame Dunoyer, who was basically an early gossip columnist and despised her. Her story doesn't mention Julie at all, but talks about a nun, who tried to frame her own death in a similar manner to escape with her male lover (which still sounds very unlikely story). The first surviving description that attaches that story to Julie, comes year after her death from the very suspect writings of a known liar, Cardinal Debois, who did personally know and hate Julie. He claimed that Dumenil, who was an actor in Paris Opéra the same time as Julie, related him the story, while also acknowledging he probably did it because he too hated her. So very likely not a true story, but possibly something that was rumored during her lifetime already.
In the stories of her, after escaping from the convent and before going to Paris, she traveled again in male attire and met Louis Joseph d'Albert de Luynes von Grimberghen, commonly known as count d'Albert. He was an interesting character in his own right, roughly her age, and like her, his real story is a little hard to parse from the legend (though in his case, he was a nobleman so there's also a lot of actual records of his life). In the story though, he thought she was a man, they had some disagreement, a fight broke out, she won, injured him and nursed him back to health. And then they had a brief affair before d'Albert went to war again. They were lifelong friends, so this is not entirely made up. It's entirely possible they had a brief affair (and according to many stories an on and off type of affair that was re-kindled at many points in their lives) and there was rumors about it even in her lifetime, but the story of this first meeting seems to lack validity.
Next in her stories she met Gabriel-Vincent Thévenard, who was another famous singer and her contemporary, either right before or right after she arrived in Paris. They became lovers and after Thévenard auditioned and got accepted into the Paris Opéra, he helped to get Julie accepted too. It is true that as far as we know, they both debuted in 1690. They were also said to have been life long friends and again it's possible they were lovers at some point, but the details of their meeting are difficult to know.
There are many stories about her antics of both of her times in the Paris Opéra. In those stories she fought duels, assaulted Dumenil with a cane, robbed Dumenil, had fights with men after they insulted her or another women or harassed other women, tried to kill herself after her love was not reciprocated, threatened to shoot a duchess in the head, threatened to slit Cardinal Debois' throat, bit Thévenard in the ear on stage and had affairs with men and women. According to Cardinal Debois the feud between Dumenil and Julie started because Dumenil was interested in her but she rejected him. The Cardinal was a liar but it does sound pretty believable. So if it's true and he spread in retaliation a lie that she burned down a convent, her beating him up or beating him up, stealing his valuables and returning them to him by humiliating him in front of other actors, would align well with everything else told about her personality. Maybe her retaliation wasn't exactly as in the stories, but if the other things about Dumenil were true, I'm sure she retaliated in some way. Same applies to her threatening the Cardinal's life. He wrote about it, but he was a liar, but, but because he was a liar who lied about her, it sounds like something she might do. Madame Dunoyer wrote about her threatening the Duchess of Luxembourg apparently because of jealousy over count d'Albert. The duchess was d'Albert's mistress at one point and apparently he even fought a duel over her in 1700. So there is some validity to this rumor, though the circumstances were perfect to fabricate that kind of rumor. I haven't found as much backing to other rumors, but many of them sound possible or at least maybe rooted in some reality and exaggerated.
The rumored explanation for why she left the Paris Opéra around 1694 was that she went into a court ball in men's clothing, kissed a woman on the dance floor and got challenge to a duel by three noblemen. They went outside and she won, but because dueling was illegal, she had to flee to Bavaria, and later when she returned, she was supposedly pardoned by the king again. In the more sensational versions of the story she killed the noblemen. This whole story is very unlikely. Even count d'Albert was imprisoned for engaging in an illegal duel (the one in 1700). He got eventually pardoned, but he was a nobleman and basically a war hero. The first surviving accounts of this story come much after her dead and it sounds more like a very exaggerated version of the other stories of her. There's many more plausible reason why she would have left to Bavaria. If her contemporaries descriptions of her behavior were even half true, those could have been scandal enough. Or if the rumors of her burning down a convent were circling that time already, that alone could have been damaging enough to her career that she thought it best to leave for a while.
In Bavaria, she's rumored to have another scandal. She supposedly became lover of the Max Emanuel, Elector of Bavaria, but she was too dramatic and after she stabbed herself with a real knife during a performance, the Elector decided she was too much, demanded her to leave Bavaria and gave her money for it. She supposedly threw the money to the feet of the messenger and left. The first surviving account of this story comes again from Madame Dunoyer, the details of which have changed, but were always quite exaggerated and unbelievable. Still the core events might be true, it's possible she was the Elector's lover for a while and it's also possible she stabbed herself on stage for real, being very dramatic as she was.
Was she queer?
There are enough accounts of her attraction and relationships with women from people who actually knew her, that I do find it very likely that she was sapphic. Cardinal Debois even implied she was exclusive interested in women or at least heavily preferred them, though other accounts by the people who knew her did talk about her attraction to men too. Her dressing in men's clothing is also mentioned enough times by her contemporaries that I do believe it. Because gender was so heavily tied to clothing and sexuality and fashion was less about what you wanted to wear and more about what you wanted others to think about you, I think she probably had some gender feelings. Even her aggressive and assertive behavior was very much seen as crossing gender boundaries. There's no more evidence of her feelings on gender than her androgynous presentation, so it's mostly speculation.
In conclusion, she was definitely a flavor of queer.

what's that thing you mentioned about the ossified larynx? does that really affect your voice?
obligatory i am not a vocologist, this is just what i've learned as a trans singer (and someone who used to be a voice teacher and hopes to be again someday) from articles and professionals who work with or are vocologists.
calcification of the cartilage in the larynx (the tissues becoming harder and less flexible due to a buildup of calcium) typically begins around age 18 and the cartilage will begin to ossify (turn into bone) in the late 20s or early 30s. most people in the field of study around the human voice say that the laryngeal tissue of "women" (people who were assigned female at birth, not accounting for folks on hrt) tends to complete ossification in the late 20's and for "men" (people who were assigned male at birth, not accounting for folks on hrt) in the early 30s. there hasn't been as much research done on trans voices, for obvious reasons. i found one study done on one transgender man, and there is a book about teaching trans voices that i have not read yet as it is pretty expensive.
while everyone's voice and body will react differently to hrt, in general: if you (a person assigned female at birth) start testosterone before calcification begins, your voice will develop pretty much exactly like someone who was assigned male at birth that is not on any sort of puberty blockers or hrt. your larynx will grow and tilt (which is what causes an "adam's apple"), and your vocal folds will thicken and lengthen along with your larynx, and (most likely) it will follow a "male" pattern of calcification and ossification.
if you start before your larynx begins to ossify but after it begins to calcify, depending on the degree of calcification, you might have more difficulty adjusting to vocal changes, your larynx might not grow as much, which means your vocal folds won't have as much space to lengthen, but it won't be an extremely noticeable difference.
if you start after your larynx begins to ossify, it will be similar to the above. depending on the degree of ossification, your larynx may not grow much or at all, and your vocal folds might not lengthen much or at all. they will still thicken so the voice will still drop, but you might notice that you can't produce as much volume or depth of tone as an average cis man.
if you start after your larynx has ossified, the larynx will not grow so the vocal folds won't have room to lengthen, but they will still thicken so the voice will still drop. you will likely not be able to produce as much volume or depth of tone as an average cis man.
which all sounds kind of scary, especially when you get to the post-ossification stage, but it's really not. in terms of vocal capability (not what your voice sounds like in the moment but what it's physically capable of sounding like), the only time you might see significant differences between your voice and the average cis man's is when you're singing, particularly if you're singing in a genre that requires a lot of depth like opera. for just speech, most people on testosterone have the vocal capability of matching a cis man's.
a myth i've heard a lot is that "tranny voice/t voice" is caused by the above changes (calcification and ossification etc.), but it actually has a lot more to do with speech patterns, the way you produce sound, not your physical vocal mechanism. if you grew up using speech patterns that are generally associated with "women", speaking more forward in the mouth, upspeak, less space at the back of the throat, less lifting of the soft palate, when your vocal folds start to lengthen and the pitch of your voice drops, that usual buzzy resonance can sound out of place to cis ears. if you love your t voice, then fuck cisnormative vocal standards. speak with whatever tone and resonance you want! trans people should not have to voice train to become palatable to cis people.
however, if you do want to train your voice to make it sound more like a cis man's would, exercises that encourage you to lift your soft palate and open your throat will help with that. some people have success with picturing the voice "coming from" further back in your mouth (which will give you a darker resonance) rather than close to your nose or teeth (which will give you a more forward resonance).
but of course, as with most discussions around hrt, it really does depend on how your body responds. everyone's voice is unique, and everyone's journey is unique.
this article goes a little more in depth about the actual process of calcification and ossification when it comes to singing, but it's quite technical and is mostly talking about classical singing.

Accent, speech pattern and Voice headcanons for the Gotham Rogues.
Riddler
In casual settings, Eddie has a slight New Jersey accent and cusses with the frequency you would expect from that.
He almost always has perfect grammar and has a very impressive vocabulary.
But there are some situations where "Fuck" just does not have a suitable replacement.
When he's going against Batman, The Riddler adopts a more trans Atlantic accent since it goes with his gameshow aesthetic.
Also since a LOT of his schemes are publicly televised he doesn't want to cuss on camera or forget to project his voice.
So adopting a different accent helps his brain remember how to act on camera so he can always appear classy.
Edward's voice is a bit more high and nasally than average, but not to an annoying degree. It's not particularly unique either. So if he remembers so change his voice slightly then he can make a phone call to anywhere and they won't recognize him.
Emotional variations include his accent getting thicker when he's angry or exhausted.
Scarecrow
John has a very rural Georgian accent.
Scarecrow: The Master Of Fear has a rather dramatic way of speaking due to his love of classic literature and poetry.
His years in academia have also left him with a very intellectual and scientific vocabulary.
John speaks with a kind of intensity and eloquence that you'd expect on a stage rather than at the front of a classroom.
A smooth baritone only enhances the effect.
Had he not been a professor, he would have made a killing as a raidio star or television narrator.
John only breaks out Southernisms when he's embarrassed. "Well I never!" "Why I outta-" he also stammers when embarrassed. otherwise his speech patterns don't have noticeable emotional variation except the ones he puts there.
Mad Hatter
Jervis has a strong Bristol accent. Which is an English accent that strongly pronounces R's and tends to slap an L at the end of words that should end in a vowel.
The classic example is Opera'l instead of Opera.
His voice is naturally high and soft, often making him sound much more indulgent toward others than he's actually feeling.
Although he does quote the Alice books often, he does not quote longer passages exactly unless he's having an episode.
The rest of the time he'll change them to fit what's happening or merely reference them.
If he's feeling particularly lucid and cheery, you may not even hear mention of the books at all.
Stress will cause longer more accurate quotes and chip at his lucidity along the way.
His only other emotional variation comes out when he's feeling flirtatious.
Jervis's voice tends to get more breathy and cooing around people he likes. He also goes harder on his R's giving some words a purr like sound.
Harley Quinn
We all know and love our girl Harley's Brooklyn accent.

Poison Ivy
Pam has a Virginian accent. It's the kind of southern bell accent you'd associate with Blanche Devereux.
Pair that with a voice like a lounge singer and everything that comes out of her mouth sounds sexy.
Even when she doesn't want it to.
It's actually pretty annoying for her.
Unlike John she uses plenty of southernisms such as "I Reckon" "Over yonder" and of course the venom filled "Bless your heart."
Catwomen
The Miami accent is strong on this women, and it tells you exactly why she moved to Gotham.
You can't wear all black leather in the kind of weather Florida's got.
Miami heat isn't sweet to everyone.
Being a second generation Cuban immigrant, she speaks Spanish fluently and while she speaks both it and English seamlessly she has run into one glitch.
She will occasionally forget whether a turn of phrase was originally English or Spanish.
She called John a dancing skeleton once and no one has let it die. From Esqueleto rumbero- Literally: Dancing skeleton, Meaning: Very thin.
Her actual voice is a pretty standard alto. Like Ed, as long as she disguises her accent she can basically call wherever without being recognized.
Another rogue that hits their R's harder while flirting. But it's less a seductive purr and more an "Oh, I'm being HUNTED" kind of sound to hear.
Bane
Bane is directly from Venezuela and has the accent to match.
His English is phenomenal for someone who's only been speaking it a few years but it's not always perfect.
Whenever he doesn't know or forgets the word for something he'll describe it using other words until the other person figures it out for him.
For example, this interaction between him and Riddler: "I need the office knives." "... I'm sorry, what?" "The office knives, with the holes in the handle." "Hmmm, is the answer perhaps scissors?" "YES! I need the scissors!"
Edward is the grand champion of figuring out what Bane is saying if Catwomen or Music Meister isn't there to translate the word from Spanish.
Bane has a naturally loud and deep voice which can make him sound aggressive even when he's not trying to be. His size doesn't help.
But really he's a very calm and levelheaded person.
If he's actually angry, you'll know it from how quiet deliberate his speech becomes.
A quiet Bane is a dangerous Bane.
Joker
New York accent.
Drops occasional NY phrases but doesn’t mention anything culturally significant to New York unless someone else brings it up.
He doesn't remember what part of New York he's from but if asked he'll say Coney Island.
His jealousy over Eddie growing up in Wildwood is real.
Harley swears up and down he's from Staten Island and anyone familiar with the different New York accents would agree with her.
Joker has a pretty distinct reedy voice that all gothamites will recognize as soon as they hear it.
It gets even higher on the rare occasion he's scared or nervous.
Music Meister
SoCal (Southern California) accent.
This accent is also called Valley Girl.
He's originally from San Diego and spent his early twenties in LA so the accent is thick and locked in.
He moved to the east coast to attempt a Broadway career before turning to villainy and kind of regrets not moving back west first.
He's the first person to complain about cold weather and bad Mexican food when the chance pops up.
But he's gotten too fond of the other rogues to seriously consider leaving.
Even if the Scarecrow keeps smacking him with a newspaper every time he misuses the word "literally".
He automatically starts singing his words when he becomes frightened or incredibly nervous. Which made sense until he revealed he did that even before he got his powers.
Odd.
Killer Croc
Waylon has a thick cajun accent, that along with a naturally growly bass voice can make it difficult for others to understand him.
He prefers speaking French to English and will go out of his way to talk to people he thinks might speak his preferred language.
Jervis, Edward, Victor Fries and Joker speak with him in French when in a one on one conversation. 
Yes Joker speaks French, no he doesn’t remember why or how. He honestly didn’t even know he could until he met Waylon. 
Waylon is incredibly charming and personable once you figure out what he's saying, he's definitely the most well liked rogue among his peers next to Harley.
Emotional variants include getting even more growly when angry and speaking completely in French when distracted.
Penguin
A lot of people say he has an English accent, he doesn’t, never say this in front of him.
The man is WELSH, and he has ruined people’s lives over having his accent confused on particularly difficult days.
He takes great pride in his heritage and being accused of being “English” of all things is one of the quickest ways to sour his mood.
No offense to Mr. Tetch of course, it's the principle of the thing really.
He rarely speaks Welsh these days unless visiting extended family.
He does use the proverb “Deuparth gwaith yw ei ddechrau”(Two-thirds of work is starting), mostly to himself but he’ll use the proverb with others when appropriate.
Emotional variants include his voice getting squawk like when scared. He also laughs like a mad pelican.
Clayface
I forget who came up with this originally and I'm kicking myself for not remembering but I've adopted the head canon that Clayface was an "aging" K-pop/drama star that was on tour in the states when his manager coerced him into trying an experimental cosmetic treatment that turned him into Clayface.
So Clay has a very strong Korean accent and probably speaks the worst English out of all the rogues.
It's passable but he understandably just wasn't expecting to need it this much.
Despite his difficulties he still somehow gains control over the majority of his conversations and seems to exude likability.
He's trained for years to make his voice as soothing and pleasant as possible and he's not going to let being a mud monster ruin his hard work.
Until something triggers his traumatic memories and sends him into a frothing rage full of bubbling curses or a depressive meltdown where he becomes a pile of blubbering goo.
He's totally incomprehensible when he's having either kind of breakdown even to other Korean speakers, honestly HE doesn't even really know what he's saying.
Many of the rogues have hired him to put his acting skills to use in various schemes and Clayface is amazed at all the new voices he can do.
He's also been Music Meister's backup vocalist for a few of his schemes so you know he's legitimately good.
Bookworm
He has a rather general east coast accent.
Until he gets angry and starts cursing in Portuguese.
You'd never guess because he's an ashy fucker and his skin never sees the sun since he spends all his time reading inside, but the guy is mainly indigenous Brazilian.
You might be able to get a clue from his facial features if he wasn't wearing the world's thickest glasses and a hat.
He has near permanent "Library voice" so people often struggle to hear him above everything else that might be going on.
His voice is surprisingly sonorous and captivating when he can be well heard.
Since Arkham doesn't often get new books, fresh literature was fought over until Joker suggested "AudioBookworm" which is just Bookworm reading the new book aloud for everyone.
Until his little used voice gives out a bit at which point Scarecrow or Mad Hatter will step in until the end of the chapter.
Mr. Freeze
Victor has a moderate Icelandic accent.
Riddler and Joker have a competition going to see how many lines from Skyrim they can trick him into saying.
Victor figured it out immediately but plays dumb to this day in order to fuck with them.
He said "Hey, you. You're finally awake." to Edward after he woke up from a nap in the rec room once and Victor will treasure the face that nerd made forever.
Victor has a bit of a "resting bitch voice" he always sounds annoyed.
Unless he's talking to Nora, then he just sounds like a simp.
Not really a voice head canon but he gets hiccups very easily from laughing.
BONUS Nora
Nora is from Belarus so she often got mistaken for having a Russian accent.
But unlike Oswald she rarely cares enough to correct people much less get angry over it.
Nora speaks with great confidence and authority, even when she doesn't necessarily have either.
Her voice definitely broadcasts "Don't even fucking THINK about arguing with me."
The personality and accent get her the nickname "Ice queen" wherever she works.
Which is very unfair, she's a kind and compassionate women!
She's just also right and she should say it.
Nora's voice becomes utterly saccharine around Victor, they're absolutely obnoxious to listen to together.

Jungkook remind me of another very famous Asian artist, Leslie Cheung.
Leslie was a very famous actor and singer. He remains one of the most celebrated artists in China, 19 years after his death. He was also openly bi.
His film "Happy Together" is one of the earliest films in Asia to deal with a gay relationship.
Jungkook doesnt really resemble him physically but I do think their appeal/aura kinda similar?
Like they both have/had a very soft, yet powerful masculine appeal. Their masculinity is not threatening yet very palpable and inciting instead of repelling. Dunno how to describe this any other way.
Also both are Virgos lmao.

I remember Leslie Cheung for his performance in the 1993 film Farewell My Concubine. The film won the Palm D'Or at Cannes as well as awards for Best Foreign Language Film at the BAFTAs and the Golden Globes. He plays Cheng Dieyi, a Peking opera singer, abandoned and abused as a child and trained to sing the opera's female roles. The film focuses on his tumultuous lifelong relationship with fellow opera singer Duan Xiaolou and Xiaolou's wife Juxian. It is set against the massive societal upheaval in China in the early 20th century. It's a heartbreaking performance which reminds us of the fragility of love and friendship and the lasting effects betrayal can have upon us all.

What I didn't know when I saw the film, was anything more about his life. His singing career, his huge celebrity in Asia and the fact that he was an openly bisexual man at a time where globally, attitudes towards homosexuality were at their most negative.

I also wasn't aware of the role he played in shaping LGBT representation in Hong Kong cinema and the lasting impact that this has had on subsequent queer films and filmmakers which is perhaps best embodied by the 1997 film Happy Together which you mention.

The Phantom of Sunny Day Jack Headcanons Teaser
Good news, everybody! I've been given the green light to share some of my headcanons about the world of the Phantom of Sunny Day Jack! It's just a little taste of the worldbuilding for now, but soon I'll be allowed to cut loose completely and ramble to my hearts content about the world, the project, and future plans.
Believe you me, I have thoughts about this AU.
First of all, as I’ve said previously, this AU isn’t just a retelling of Phantom of the Opera with a Something’s Wrong with Sunny Day Jack reskin. Jack isn’t Erik from the musical, book, or whatever. He’s in a similar role, being the phantom of the opera house who wears a mask, but he’s still Jack. Considering the character of the phantom changes quite a bit depending on the telling of the story, I should hope that this won’t be too surprising. ;3
The MC takes the role that Christine Daae typically fills in a Phantom of the Opera story, but they are definitely not Christine. Their name, appearance, backstory, etc. are far more malleable, but they are 25+ years of age like the love interests, similar to the original SDJ game.
MC is a singer at the opera house and made some friends there, including the friendly director, who quickly became their best friend and a great support. Even the diva who is the shining star of the opera house is looking their way, though their relationship is more of a friendly rivalry since he’s seen MC’s potential to outshine him. MC has a childhood sweetheart that they lost touch with for what were less than ideal reasons, who has suddenly come back into their life wanting to mend their relationship.
Then, of course, there is the mysterious phantom of the opera who has never revealed his face to anyone… except a very special person who brightens up the dark and lonely life that he’s forced to live in the shadows by being his ray of sunshine. He sees the beauty in MC and their voice, and wants to help them to shine brighter than anyone else. He’s surprisingly sweet, kind, and supportive, which is a total opposite to all the dark rumors swirling around him. Surely they must be exaggerations, right?
While this is taking place in the late 19th century, this is an alternate universe, so things are a little different during this period than in our world. For one thing, the fashions and colors of this world's 19th century France are amazing. Just look at these gorgeous outfits!

Wait until you can see these without the shadows obscuring them. These sprites are just so, so pretty. EC and everyone else working on the art for this project has really created a world full of style~ ✨
Clearly, this world’s textile technology is pretty advanced, even if they’re still lagging in other areas. Also their cuisine is far more advanced as well since, let's face it, if we’re going to make an indulgent and stylish AU, why not throw in some comfort foods like pizza and hot cocoa with whipped cream as well?
An area where this world is far more progressive than our modern day world is with LGBT+ acceptance and rights. No one bats an eye at what pronouns you use, being trans or cis is just what you are, loving someone of any gender identity is just plain love, and it's not strange if you simply don’t have romantic or sexual desires, or just less of it than most.
Overall, this AU is meant to be an indulgent and comforting gothic romance, while also offering elements of intrigue, drama, and horror for spice. Sure, there are bad ends, but sometimes it’s fun to explore those sorts of darker narratives too along with softer happy endings full of love.

An assortment of family headcanons
Magnus: *my entire blog now* but basically: child of divorce, only child.
Charles: Two older siblings and a twin. Grew up suspecting that he was the child his parents didn't plan on having. Raised by his mother and step-father. I have two interpretations for his biological father. First is that he died at sea when Charles was young, and second is that his father was Mr. Salacia. I think I could combine them.
Amber: Her father came to America in the late 70s to escape the Cambodian-Vietnamese War, where he met her mother who was immigrating from Laos. Amber has two older brothers and she was treated as the perfect baby angel who could do no wrong. Until she got slightly older, then she was expected to essentially be a third parent to her brothers. She went no-contact with her parents after they found out about her stripping. Her relationship with her brothers could have continued to be good, but it was hard for them to go behind their parents' back.
Melmord: He has three moms. Two of them are a lesbian couple, and the third is the donor who later came out as a trans woman. He has 2 biological siblings, 4 half-siblings, and a shit-ton of foster siblings. It's seriously hard to keep track. That's also not including the people Melmord's family would take in, who essentially were family members to him. I just find it funny that when Charles has to deal with the first messy/selfish hands-on kill of his career, instead of a guy with no connections, his victim has just a comically huge family.
Trindle: I'm still working out the details, but only child. Used to go to a Korean bilingual school, until her family moved and then she was home-schooled. Her parents had no idea what she was doing on the internet, but they wanted to be supportive. Maybe they were a little too lax. Also during her doljanchi, she crawled past all of the items they had laid out and she reached for a stuffed whale that was lying around.
Abigail: Grew up surrounded by music. Her mother was a classical pianist, her grandmother was an opera singer, and her father was a radio DJ (that's how her parents met). She was always more drawn to the technical side of music production rather than going down the same path as her family (she thought she was going to go into engineering for a while). She still has a good relationship with her parents and extended family. Her dad bringing her into his studio was a formative memory for her.
