I’m going to assume that at this point you’ve all seen Critical Role’s new show Candela Obscura and at least skimmed through the Quickstart Guide (you have done all that riiiight??) So I wanted to compile all the things I’ve done that have been shown so far. Its long so read below the line!
I’m going to try to avoid spoilers. So feel free to read without worry. I’m also going to try and avoid breaking any NDA like a good professional. So I will not be doing some deep dive behind the scenes thing. Only visuals that have already been publicly shared are going to be on here
Tumblr media
The very first thing I did on this show was the concepts for the main set. Everything is practical. Nothing is green screen or cg or whatever. Some people think it’s just good cg but nope that's all real. You could touch it! (don’t touch it, there are ghosts)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There were multiple iterations on the design, each with their own vibe and statement piece. CR narrowed it down to what you see in the show: a sort of storage hall with an odd clock contraption behind the GM. I think I called this design version the “Abyssal Hall” or something like that (I gave the different versions names to better keep track of which design was being discussed)
The company Flip This Bitch built the physical set. They turned my silly little art into a real thing. So they did all the actual magic of making this set come together in the end! They deserve a lot of the credit for it looking so good in the end.
Also that little piece of art in the bottom left of the preshow is a section from the final concept art of the set.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That contraption behind Matt is based on astrolabes and clocks. This isn’t really meant to be a literal astrolabe or a clock as we would use them in our world. Narratively this isn’t a device that measures either of the things that a traditional astrolabe or clock does. This is a special magickal tool that does a secret third thing.
Tumblr media
Also I did concepts for the GM screen. You don't really see it besides in the fancy-shmancy preshow. There were a number of more intricate designs for it but CR went with the simpler option since the only part that would be visible on stream is the top, so that's where I put the most detail.
I should also note that I did not design the logo! It’s pretty prominent on the GM screen but I was supplied an already existing logo for this.
Tumblr media
NEXT is the Taliesin enclosure set that you see in the trailer. This is actually meant to be like the lantern room on the top of a lighthouse, minus the big light beacon (You could say Taliesin is the beacon).
Also in the trailer you see a couple brief sketches I did for some world building concepts:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Speaking of sketches there are a number of art pieces of mine in the Quickstart guide
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A lot of my art is sketches. They’re all meant to be like notes and drawings from members of Candela as they travel and notate their findings. Most of the notes on these sketches are my actually my notes when I was doing world building concepts, but they replaced my handwriting with a font because my handwriting sucks lmao (also likely for ease of future localization).
Also the cover of the Quickstart guide uses line art of a part of that astrolabe clock set piece. This line art was part of the deliverables that was sent over to Flip This Bitch for construction. They’re just using pieces of those set concepts everywhere!
Tumblr media
As you can see I’ve done a lot of art for this project. I was part of this project when it was still early in development. It’s changed quite a bit from where we started.
I wasn’t the only one that made all this art happen though. Other artists, writers, and designers got to add their own vision to this. It was very much a collaborative effort that took a long time to happen. It’s very exciting to see everyone’s hard work come to fruition and there is a lot more to come!

@eddiemonth prompt, oct 5th: Role Model | Slow Down — Ozzy Osbourne | Brave a/n: hospital setting, dustin & eddie heart-to-heart, post-s4 canon, implied pre-steddie if you squint. un-betaed because I’m challenging myself to write these in under an hour. read on ao3 | link to masterpost on ao3
Eddie’s always hated the color white.
It’s too… empty, still, plain. Is it even a color? Or is it just the absence of color? He’s never been sure. Maybe he should’ve paid a little more attention in his art classes instead of going off-task and drawing Hellfire and Corroded Coffin designs. What matters though is that he’s always hated the color white and now, in what can only be described as adding insult to injury, he’s connected to several beeping machines surrounded and draped in nothing but white. Sterile, boring, useless white.
The beeping is at least a solace, both in its predictable rhythm and as a sign that he’s still alive. Maybe he’ll eventually feel more comfortable with his survival but it’d been touch and go for awhile there so for now, he’s glad to have some sort of reminder that his heart is, indeed, beating.
Another welcome reminder is the slew of visitors he’s had since waking up, some of whom have apparently been in and out since before he’d been brought out of the medically-induced coma. Wayne, of course, was no surprise. Steve, and Robin, and Nancy, and a few of their friends from California were something of a surprise but he supposes it makes sense. They’d nearly gone down together and Eddie’s sure they’re splitting time between his room and Max’s down the hall.
Dustin Henderson though? Dustin surprises him.
Not necessarily that he’s been there, waiting, probably giving the nurses the worst headaches of their lives with his questions and suggestions. The little shit loves him, he knows that without a shadow of a doubt now, but Eddie’s shocked that he’s not angry. Since waking up, Eddie’s just laid there, watching cartoons on the tiny TV bolted into the corner of the too-white room with the kid, his own casted leg propped up on the side of Eddie’s bed. If he didn’t know any better, he’d think he was just at home in the trailer. It feels too normal.
Finally, one day, Eddie asks. Maybe it’s the latest round of painkillers that loosen his lips, but he has to ask. He has to know.
“Henderson?” Eddie asks, keeping his eyes trained on the television.
“Yeah?” Dustin responds.
“Are you like… are we like… are we good? Are you not pissed at me?” It’s hard for him to choke out, stumbling over his words. The opinion of a kid shouldn’t frighten him so much but goddamn, it’s like asking his little brother if he hates him. He’s terrified of a Yes.
Silence sits between them, Dustin surely burning a hole into the side of Eddie’s head. He can damn near feel it. Scooby Doo drones on though, and Eddie hopes that maybe Dustin just didn’t hear him. He’s on the good shit, so maybe he’d only asked in his head.
“I was, a little bit, yeah.”
But was is past-tense, and that just makes no sense. Dustin deserves to be mad at him, he’d gone off the plan and nearly died in front of him. Why isn’t he mad? What changed?
“What changed your mind?” Eddie still doesn’t look at him.
“Dude, look at me for a second. This is way more important than what closet the ghost ran into.” Dustin’s tone is annoyed and a little pushy, just the way he’d been before all of this.
Eddie sighs and turns to face Dustin, who’s looking at him with pinched eyebrows and wide eyes.
“I was so goddamn mad at you, Eddie. You almost died. Well, technically, you did for a minute there but that’s besides my point. You didn’t need to go back, and I was mad that you, someone I look up to, did something so stupid.”
Dustin takes a breath– it’s shaky, and Eddie nods him on encouragingly. He doesn’t speak though, doesn’t want to interrupt something that’s clearly not done.
“And then… well, Steve sat me down and explained what you said when he was carrying you out of there.”
Eddie’s heart monitor speeds up at the mention of Steve, and the mention that he’d apparently been talking before he blacked out and has absolutely no fucking memory of what he’d said. Dustin, genius and all that, notices and places a hand on top of Eddie’s which he only distantly recognizes is gripping the edge of the bar.
“Hey, you alright?”
Eddie nods again and makes a gesture with his free hand to continue. If he opens his mouth, he might vomit. Or panic. Maybe both, and neither is conducive to the conversation at hand. He’ll have that conversation with Steve later.
Dustin eyes him with uncertainty but continues on regardless. “So, yeah. Steve told me what you said about making sure that I was okay, that you were bleeding out all over him and couldn’t shut up about my stupid ankle, that you were so sorry and it wasn’t supposed to happen like that, that you were trying to help however you could but you couldn’t let the bats get out. Or get to me.”
Eddie sees the way Dustin’s throat bobs and his eyes begin to gloss over. If he starts crying right now, Eddie might lose it himself. He’s about to make some joke and deflect like he always does, but Dustin steamrolls on.
“And that’s just– Eddie, do you know how brave that is? That’s the stuff of D&D heroism. That’s insane, and don’t ever do it again, but how could I stay mad at you for caring about me? And about all of us? I’m not a complete asshole.”
Dustin calls him brave and Eddie's chest tightens, his jaw clicking with the effort it takes not to burst into tears. A few deep breaths later and he’s able to open his mouth without humiliating himself.
“Well, not all the time, at least,” he teases, his laugh weak and his smile wide.
“You know, Eddie, we were having such a nice moment there and you had to go and ruin it.” Dusin retorts, rolling his eyes and settling back into his chair. “Actually, you’re the asshole because you haven’t even asked to sign my cast yet. I’ve been telling everyone else who’s asked No because you get first dibs.”
Dustin fishes around in his pocket, twisting in weird ways that Eddie can’t imagine he’ll ever be able to again, before coming up with a black Sharpie. “Do your worst.”
Eddie takes the Sharpie and stares down at the cast. It’s white, just like the bed sheets and the painted cinder block walls, and curtains, and stupid hospital gown that doesn’t close in the back. But Dustin’s cast doesn’t feel sterile or empty.
It just feels like canvas, and maybe the walls of this hospital room can be the same blank slate on which Eddie can rebuild his life.

Morningstar
Tumblr media
Pairing: vampire!Eddie Munson x femreader
Rating: E
Words: 6k
Warnings: mention of a dead body, blood, angst, hurt/comfort, smut (unprotected, blood play).
A/N: if you know @magpie-to-the-morning or myself, you know that we are both weird girls who thrive on all things dark and spooky. So when we started hearing vampire Eddie theories floating around (yes, Emma saw it coming before the rest of us), we had to team up and bring our baby boy back (finale? what finale?). And in doing so we learned how well we work together, how we compliment each other and somehow share a weird gothy love language.
Morningstar is a fic for our fellow weird girls, our fellow outcasts. It's a love letter to them, and to Eddie Munson, who deserves the same care and protection he showed the little lost sheepies.
Beta'd by @jadore-andor without whom Alex is nothing and for whom Emma is eternally grateful.

Part One - A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night | Part Two | Part Three
Tumblr media
“You sure you don’t want me to drive you home?” Your friend bit her lip, eyeing the darkness beyond her trailer’s porchlight as if its lengthening shadows would reach out and snatch you right off the concrete steps. “Hawkins is… different, since you left. It’s been worse since the earthquake.” She sounded nervous, enough so that goosebumps pebbled over the skin of your arms.
Still, you weren’t one to be daunted by the creeping feeling of dread that seemed to have gained a chokehold on your hometown.
“I’ll be fine. Besides, you know me. I like different.” You flashed her a reassuring grin and, with a wave, set out for the dirt track leading through the woods. You’d walked home this way dozens of times, hundreds - just not since you went away to college last fall. It’s what had kept you insulated from the bizarre rumors flying around town - lab experiments gone wrong, monsters on the loose, satanic cults. Even the very real and tragic deaths didn’t ring true, and you’d flat out laughed at the idea of Eddie Munson being some sort of serial killer. It was the same small town ignorance you’d fled back in September, the same gossip and petty-mindedness, albeit on a scale that had everyone feeling tense enough to snap.
It was a relief to be away from that feeling, surrounded by the familiar trees that had been the background of your dizzy daydreams as a child. Out here you had felt safe fantasizing about the things that went bump in the night without fear of what your peers would think, how they might judge you for your darker interests. Here in the woods, there was ample space to imagine werewolves and witches and vampires, and where you might fit among them. Even as you got older and your daydreams changed, it was your favorite place to lose a few hours, your headphones firmly over your ears as you sprawled on a blanket to write in your journal.
A cool breeze murmured through the branches overhead and spring peepers trilled in the distance, their nighttime chorus punctuated by the plaintive calls of nightbirds. You took a deep breath, savoring the peace, as you made your way through the woods. As you walked, you debated whether you wanted a night alone or if you would rather call Robin and finally give in to her pleas of spending an evening with her and Steve Harrington - a pair you could still hardly imagine actually hanging out together. But she swore he was cool and no longer the douchey jock you remembered before you left for college.
You were lost in your own thoughts, not noticing when the birds fell silent. Something tugged at the back of your mind when even the frogs stopped calling, but you were too busy ruminating over the empty months ahead to notice the shift in the air, the pervading sense of wrongness creeping up on you now that the sky had turned black.
Until you nearly tripped over the bodies…
The toe of your boot hit something solid, shocking you to a stop. You had assumed it was a mass of leaves, a random pile left behind by some kids. But that…that was hair, dark and ashy. And that was a hand, outstretched and pale as bone in the moonlight. Your stomach rolled, your hand covering your mouth to hold back the bile that rose in your throat. It smelled like death, you realized, like blood and sickly sweet rot. But then there was movement, just a shifting beneath the dirt that sent the leaves scattering, and from the lump of foliage, Eddie Munson looked up at you, his eyes black in the night. Andy, that creep, with his stupid curly hair and letterman jacket, lay motionless beneath Eddie, his fingers clawing into the dirt even in death.
Andy was dead. The thought slammed through your mind but you couldn’t bring yourself to feel bad about it, not even as you gazed into his lifeless face, his eyes dull as they stared into nothingness. No, you didn’t feel bad, not after what he had tried to do last summer.
Eddie groaned and it stirred something in you, snapping your awareness back into place. You dropped beside him, hands hovering over his hair, hair face, his chest. There was blood, too much blood, smeared across his mouth and jaw and you had no idea who it belonged to - him or Andy. You knew how it looked, how freakish and fantastical, and your mind began to scream one impossible word.
Vampire.
"Hey Munson," you breathed, pushing away the ridiculous thought. "Remember me?" You asked softly, brushing the hair from his eyes. He mumbled your name, recognition flashing across his glassy eyes, the syllables garbled as he coughed and more blood splattered over his face, little freckles of red scattered now over your neck and cheeks. "That's right." You tried to smile, tried to shove down the feeling of wrongness, of fear, that pricked up your spine. Your hands skated over his chest, fingertips softly probing for wounds. You had to get him out of there, had to get him help. He was freezing, too cold for the warmth of spring, and goosebumps again erupted over your arms.
Eddie’s fingers closed like a vise around your wrist, his rings biting into the bone, and you winced at the sudden display of strength, the cold power that snapped like a taut bowstring, thrumming through his touch. He whimpered then, a small pathetic sound that tugged at something in your lower belly.
You leaned in closer, concern creasing your brow, and startled when his grasp tightened even further, pulling you off balance and down into the leaf litter beside him.
“Eddie, what - “
He pressed against you and the words died in your throat. Your back was braced against something solid, your fingers scrabbling against the fake leather of Andy's letterman jacket. Dread clogged your throat when you realized exactly where you were, trapped between a dead man and the the most likely suspect for his murder. But this was Eddie. He couldn't be responsible for whatever had happened here. The Eddie you remembered was kind, if a little eccentric; all throughout highschool he'd always spared you a smile and because of it you had harbored a silly crush. His disdain for the "popular" kids was no secret, but he'd treated everyone else with basic kindness.
“I don’t even remember doing it,” Eddie murmured close to your ear. His voice was weak, shaken, a far cry from his usual boisterous nature. He sounded scared. Lost. “He found me in the woods, right after… I didn’t mean to.”
His eyes were pleading. For understanding? Forgiveness? Maybe just for you not to scramble up and run as far away as you could, leaving him bloody and alone. You reached out to stroke the lines of his cheek with trembling fingers. “Didn’t mean to do what, Eddie?”
Your voice shook as his cool breath fanned across your jaw, as he dragged himself over you and settled his weight on top of you. Your head spun, pulled in too many directions. How many times had you imagined this back in highschool? How many times had you thought about being brave and telling him that he was the best thing about Hawkins, aside from Robin, that thoughts of him had kept you up at night?
Again that sense of utter wrongness settled over you and the apprehension had you feeling skittish. His hair tickled your face as the wind shifted and you felt him go rigid above you, his hands gripping hard at your thighs as he fought to hold still. “To be a monster.”
You pulled back to look at him, brushing the hair from his face, hands cradling his jaw. “Eddie, you are not a monster, okay? Whatever happened here, we can figure it out. But you are not a monster.” Were you crazy for thinking so? Probably. But what you knew about Eddie Munson, romanticized schoolgirl fantasies or not, led you to truly believe that he was in no way some kind of beast.
“Then why do I feel like this?” Gone was the warm, familiar brown of his eyes, swallowed up by so much black. His gaze was locked on your mouth, darting between your lips and your throat, and when he spoke you saw the pointed tips of his canines, elongated in the light of the moon, and again your brain blared a single word at you.
Vampire.
Pulling in a trembling breath, your chest brushed his. You felt the air go still, the tension between you snapping. “I’m sorry,” he said with a whimper and then his mouth was at your neck, pain blooming hot and sudden. You shrieked, slapping at his shoulders and digging your heels into the soft ground, trying desperately to put distance between you. He snarled, the sound closer to something an animal would make and you realized that in this moment he might as well be a predator defending his kill.
Slowly, and then all at once, the agony shifted, becoming softer and melting into something decadent. There was a soft pulling sensation and the rasp of his tongue over your sensitive skin had you arching beneath him, all thoughts of escape floating from your mind. One of his hands dragged up your thigh and over the cage of your ribs to hold you still, the other moved your leg so he could settle more comfortably between your thighs. The world took on a dreamy sort of quality, delicate around the edges as everything began to go quiet. All you felt was Eddie’s mouth, his large hands, the way he began to grow hard against your center. The artfully ripped tights you wore beneath your skirt were hardly a barrier and you couldn’t help but roll your hips against him, moaning softly at the way he thrust forward in slow, dragging movements.
Sensation pulled at you, tendrils of want tugging you deeper into that waiting darkness. Your mind went deliciously blank, everything fading but the stroke of his tongue that matched the heartbeat between your legs. You found yourself all too eager to let go, to succumb to whatever it was that had you forgetting yourself, your nerves and better judgement. You could lie there for hours, all night, forever, but some lingering spark of self preservation flared within the darkening recesses of your mind.
“Eddie.” It was a feeble protest, barely audible over the sound of the wind caressing the leaves or his contented growls at your throat. “Eddie, stop. Not here.” When he didn’t respond you pulled yourself together as best you could and reached down, pinching the meat of his thigh. He yelped, the sound so out of place that a startled laugh burst from your throat, an almost hysterical sound. When he pulled away the moonlight caught in the fresh blood smeared across his mouth and jaw - your blood. The thought was staggering and for a moment you felt even more lightheaded, the trees above swaying as you sagged back against Andy.
Andy!
You shoved away from his body, untangling yourself from Eddie and shooting to your feet. Reaching up, you touched your neck gingerly. Your fingers came away red, shining, and you lurched forward. Eddie shoved himself from the ground, his hands coming to steady you, gripping your elbows gently. He glanced down at Andy, too many emotions flashing across his dark eyes to name. You turned, placing your body between them and retreating until your back rested against Eddie’s chest. Cocking your head, you surveyed the area, taking in the details you had missed earlier.
“Animal,” you said as it all clicked in your mind, the solution fitting together like puzzle pieces.
“What?” His voice was hoarse, raw.
“It looks like an animal got him,” you elaborated and felt Eddie go tense behind you. “Hey.” You turned and took his hand. It was cold against your palm and you could feel his hesitation as you brushed your thumb across the delicate skin. “Munson, look at me.”
With a shudder, Eddie lifted his gaze to meet yours, his head ducked and his body tensed as if to run.
“I don’t know what the hell is going on, but I know you. And you’re not an animal, or a monster, or whatever else this bullshit town has been claiming. Even with all of… this.” You kicked some leaves over Andy’s body and turned back to Eddie. “We can figure this out. Will you let me help you?”
When he finally nodded, you twined your fingers with his and tugged gently. “Come on, then. Let’s get you somewhere safe.”
-
You led Eddie to your parents’ house, relieved that they’d chosen this week to take the cruise your mom had always droned on about. Even with having the whole basement recently converted into an apartment for you, bringing a wanted fugitive home would have invited all sorts of questions you weren’t sure you had the answers to.
Eddie looked even more lost inside, his hair tangled and torn, bloody, mud-streaked clothing jarring against the respectable wallpaper and aggressive cleanliness of your parents’ home. He startled when you opened the basement door and a shadow streaked through it, racing toward the two of you.
“It’s okay, it’s just my cat.”
The little black creature in question trotted into the light with an inquisitive “mrrp” and wound around your legs.
Eddie relaxed beside you. After a moment he crouched down and held his fingers out for the cat to sniff. “What’s his name?”
“Jonathan Barker.” When Eddie stared incredulously up at you you shrugged. “I was on a horror classics kick.”
“But Barker? I uh, don’t know if you’ve noticed, but he’s a cat.”
“What’s your point?”
“… Fair enough.” He chuckled, a little faintly, but amused all the same. Your heart lifted at the sheer familiarity of the sound. Jonathan Barker rubbed his cheek against the ripped denim at Eddie’s knee but darted away when Eddie reached to pet him. “Fine,” Eddie scoffed, unconvincingly. “I’m more of a dog person anyway.”
“Be nice, he’s had a hard life. I found him by the side of the road when he was a kitten and he’s always been a little skittish.” Jonathan Barker stared at Eddie with wide eyes from his perch on the back of the couch, as if agreeing with you.
Eddie fell quiet again as you led him down the creaking stairs and into your basement apartment. It was easier to breathe there, surrounded by battered pieces of mismatched yet comfortable furniture, Joy Division and Patti Smith posters, stacks of well-thumbed paperback books, milk crates full of albums and cassettes, and houseplants crowding every window well. The conversion had been your parents’ condition when you’d told them you needed some time off school. Your mother had already turned your room into a home gym and “Wouldn’t you be more comfortable down there, dear? You’ll have more room for all your… interests.”
Part of you suspected they were a little relieved to have you neatly tucked out of sight.
You moved towards the small kitchen area with the vague idea of making tea on the little hot plate. Having a task to focus on kept your mind from racing about what on earth you and Eddie were going to do next. You busied yourself with the familiar ritual for the next few minutes, giving both of you time to think. By the time you set a steaming ceramic mug in front of Eddie, his expression was less wild, his frame less taut with that kinetic, restless energy. He wrapped his hands around the mug’s warmth and didn’t quite meet your eyes as he asked “So, what happens now?” He took an experimental sip but pulled a face. At the flavor, you wondered? Or his attempt to get something other than blood into his system?
“Well, we should probably get you cleaned up,” you said softly, taking in the shadows beneath his eyes, the blood crusted across his face and neck. Dirt clung to him like a second skin and you could see how uncomfortable he was beneath the grime. You abandoned your mug on the counter, pushing off and walking across the room toward the closet by the bathroom and pulled down a few fluffy towels. Eddie’s shuffling footsteps followed you into the little room, and he stopped in the doorway while you turned the hot water knob. You moved to face him, finding him staring straight ahead, his brows bunched in confusion. Turning, you tracked his line of sight toward the mirror, his dirty image reflected back.
“I wasn’t sure I would actually show up,” he mumbled, reaching up and dragging his fingers over his cheek.
“Silver,” you said, watching him watch you.
“What?”
You shrugged. “Mirrors used to be backed in silver and the myth goes that silver is detrimental to…,” you paused as his eyes narrowed and waved your hands to dispel the building tension. “Well, you know. You’ll show up in pictures too,” you chirped, hoping to lighten the mood.
“How did you become the vampire expert?” A heavy brow rose and you fought the urge to fold your shoulders, to make yourself smaller under his gaze.
“I read a lot,” you snapped, suddenly defensive. After a long moment he nodded, shrugging off his vest. You startled when it hit the ground, heavy pins clattering against the tile, and turned to leave. His cold fingers wrapped tight around your wrist, stopping you from sliding past him.
Again, his eyes were pleading, soft and dark and lovely. “Stay,” he asked, “please.”
You thought the rapidfire emotional changes would give you whiplash, but you nodded, exhaling sharply, and reached for the hem of his shirt. He raised his arms and you pulled it over his head, dropping it to lie with his vest. Angry marks were scattered across his torso, red and welted and poorly healed. A gasp escaped your mouth as you took it in, reaching forward and gingerly trailing your fingers over the wounds. “Eddie, what happened to you?” Your voice was hushed, quiet as the steam from the shower began to cloud in the small space.
“It’s all a little blurry,” he murmured, his hands going for the buckle of his belt. He unclasped the mini handcuffs that held it together, deft fingers quickly working open the button of his jeans. Your eyes snapped back to his and you found him watching you hungrily. A chill danced up your spine at the sight, a mix of cold fear and delicious anticipation. You realized he was trying to distract you, obviously not wanting to answer the question. So you let him.
He side stepped you and you turned, not looking away and letting him press you against the door. The small of your back hit the wood and he kept coming, cocking his head as he crowded into your space. Reaching out, you rested your hands against his chest, your eyes going wide when you registered that there was no heartbeat against your palm. Eddie didn’t seem to notice as he leaned forward, a smug grin stretched across his mouth.
You wanted this. And it was obvious that he wanted it too, but it was almost too much right now and your head was spinning. “Give me your rings,” you murmured hurriedly, grasping for an excuse to take a moment and collect your thoughts. You tugged your lip between your teeth and he quirked a brow at you. “I’ll get them cleaned up for you.” His smirk softened into a smile and he stepped back, pulling them off one by one. The silver had burned him, leaving behind painful looking bruises and charred skin. You refused to react, knowing that he wouldn’t want your pity, and held out your hand for him to drop them into. They clinked together as you caught them and you pushed him lightly toward the shower. Eddie turned, dropping his pants and you couldn’t help but glance at his ass as he pulled back the curtain and stepped into the tub.
Gathering his filthy clothes, you pulled the door closed softly and padded back into the living room to toss his things into the washing machine, carefully undoing the clasps of his pins and setting them aside for safe-keeping. You set it to start before heading to the sink to get Eddie’s rings cleaned up. Soap, water, and some scrubbing had them shining again and you avoided thinking too hard about the fact that you were scrubbing human flesh from the metal. When you had finished, you flopped onto the couch and reached for the clear coat nail polish you kept on the side table next to your favorite bottle of black. You painted the clear gel over the silver, hoping it would form enough of a barrier to keep them from burning him again. His rings were as much a part of his persona as his vest and his wild halo of hair, and more than anything right now, he needed something comfortable and familiar.
To be fair, so did you. Once the rings were safely coated in a protective layer of nail polish and drying on your coffee table, you rose, stretched, and padded over to your dresser, opening the second drawer and pulling out a baggy t-shirt. You stripped, leaving your dirty clothes in a pile, and pulled the worn fabric over your head before heading for your record player. Soon, the driving synthetic beat and rough-edged vocals of the Psychedelic Furs drifted through the space.
“Forever Now? I guess that’s fitting.”
You whirled around, surprised to see Eddie leaning against the door jam, a towel around his waist and his arms wrapped around himself. Dark tendrils of hair framed his face in damp curls and his skin was scrubbed an angry pink, but he looked somewhat more settled, his brown eyes clearer.
“I didn’t hear you come in.”
“Oh, I’m just full of surprises now.” He lifted his brows in a sarcastic show of being impressed with his own new abilities, even as he wrapped his arms more tightly around himself. “I uh, seem to have misplaced my clothes.”
“They’re in the wash. That Hellfire shirt might be a lost cause but I think I managed to save everything else. Come sit.” You jerked your head at the empty cushion beside you.
Eddie pushed off the wall and dropped beside you, carefully leaving space between you that crackled with things unsaid.
“How are you feeling?”
“I don’t even know.” Eddie scrubbed a large palm over his face. “More like myself, I guess? But still…”
“Hungry?”
“Yeah.” You hated the lingering note of shame in his voice.
You swallowed but squared your shoulders. “We can fix that.”
His dark eyes snapped to yours. “No.”
“Eddie, it’s fine - “
“Jesus, no it isn’t!” You blinked at his outburst but he forged ahead. “I killed someone. I could have killed you.”
“Andy?”
“Don’t tell me I killed more of the basketball team.”
“Eddie, listen.” You lifted a hand to cup his cheek, to turn his face towards yours to make sure he heard you loud and clear. “That guy was a dick. He was probably out hunting you with his buddies, from what I’ve been hearing. If he didn’t attack you first, he would have and believe me, he wouldn’t have lost any sleep over it.” You shrugged dismissively and added “Besides, he tried to feel me up at a party last year. Fuck that guy, you did the world a favor.”
Eddie’s eyes narrowed, his lip curling back and he opened his mouth to speak. You stopped him, pressing your fingers to his full mouth. He swallowed his reply, simply mumbling, “What a dick.”
You nodded, giving him a small smile and turning to face him more fully.
Eddie moved closer, his thigh pressed to your own. “I don’t want to hurt you,” he murmured, even as he raked his gaze down your throat. His fingertips brushed the hair from your neck and you shivered.
“What if I told you I liked it?” Your voice trembled, the confession making you feel unaccountably vulnerable, more exposed than even the hungry way Eddie eyed you.
“Jesus, Briar.” He shuddered and dragged his open mouth against your skin. His lips moved in a gentle kiss, a far cry from the searing torrent you craved.
“Why Briar?” It came out as a gasp as you twisted in his arms to climb into his lap.
“Because you found me in the forest. You caught me when I was spinning. Don’t let go.” Eddie’s tender hold tightened and his teeth sank into the delicate skin of your throat.
You tipped your head back and tangled your fingers in his hair. “I w-wanted this before today, you know. Always meant to say something, back in school.”
His lips still locked to your pulse point, Eddie made a questioning sound deep in his throat as if to ask Why didn’t you?
“The usual bullshit,” you hedged before adding, “I was scared.
Eddie pulled away at that, his mouth stained red and his brows lifted. “You’re not now?”
“I was,” you admitted. “Back in the woods when I found you. But then you opened your eyes.”
His eyes widened, something like awe lighting their brown depths.
His surprise would have been sweet if it didn’t wrench your heart to think someone caring for him in that way would be so astonishing. The thought snapped the tether holding you back and you leaned in to capture his lips in a kiss. The taste of copper burst on your tongue but beyond that shock it was simply him. His lips were surprisingly soft against your own, his eager mouth swallowing your shared groan, his tongue gliding against yours as he twisted and bore you down onto the sofa cushions.
He cleared his throat, nuzzling your cheek. "I don't think I can be gentle with you."
"I don't want you to," you murmured, twisting beneath him to pull him more fully on top of you. He drove a knee between your thighs and you couldn't help but grind against him as he licked a stripe up the column of your neck. His teeth scraped softly against your skin, his tongue following to lap up the thin line of blood that beaded there. Then he was grabbing you, his fingers digging into the meat of your waist and you clung to him, your nails trailing furrows down his back.
"Please," he whispered, his voice strained as you rubbed against him like a cat.
"Yes." You made sure to keep your voice steady, threading your fingers through his hair and tilting your head to the side. He inhaled, hissing your name, his breath chilly on your skin. You yelped when his teeth broke the skin once more, pain flaring through you before easing into something delicious, something sinful and indulgent. Your head dropped back and Eddie cradled the back of your neck, holding you still. He rolled his hips against you and you trailed your fingers over the expanse of his chest, down his abdomen to the hem of the towel. He growled and something in you snapped at the sound, wild, needy, and hot. You pulled impatiently at the loose knot at his hip and the towel fell away, his length twitching in your hand.
Eddie pulled away at your first stroke of his cock, red smeared across his mouth and down his chin. And when he kissed you, you tasted the metallic tang of your own blood. Your hand tightened around him and the sound he made was close to a snarl as he leaned forward and licked at the mess he'd made of your neck, trailing his hand down your body to rub against your center. You bucked your hips forward, searching out his touch and he obliged quickly, pushing your underwear to the side, finding you already wet for him. His thumb brushed your clit and you gasped, your back arching off the couch.
"More," you groaned between clenched teeth, hitching one leg higher on his waist. Two thick fingers pierced you as he placed wet, open mouthed kisses to your chest, licking at the hollow of your clavicle and mumbling your name. He pressed his hips forward, thrusting into the tight grip of your fist.
His fingers were cool against your heated flesh, soothing you even as he made you writhe and buck beneath his hand. You felt loose, wanton, and need coiled in your belly as you whimpered for his touch.
“Shit,” Eddie hissed. “You’re so fucking warm.”
You clasped the back of his neck and pulled him closer as you guided his cock where you needed it most. Both of you groaned when he fitted the blunt, swollen tip at your entrance. The stretch was delicious, a promise of even more to come and oh, you wanted him to fill you. Your fingers still wrapped around his length, you squeezed, pulling him deeper inside you. His breath fanned loud and ragged against your ear as he fought to maintain control.
At least, until you met his eyes and whispered “Please.”
With a snarl, Eddie buried himself inside you. The force of it shoved you up the cushions until you reached a hand back to brace yourself against the arm of the sofa. Just as desperate to keep you still, to hold you down and claim you, Eddie seized your hips tight enough to bruise.
“Fucking vixen,” he rasped, the hint of a smirk in his voice. “So tight. So fucking good.”
His praise lit a fire in you and you matched him thrust for thrust, moaning every time his thick cock pushed inside you, stretching you until you thought you would split apart. You realized you had never wanted anyone this much, been this aroused. It stripped any sense of shyness or hesitance away, leaving you free to give yourself over to him in whatever way he wanted.
“Oh fuck, you feel so good. Fuck me harder, Eddie please. Don’t stop, don't stop,” you chanted, babbling mindlessly. Dimly, you were aware of the arousal leaking from you, smearing your thighs and urging Eddie to take you harder, faster, more.
Eddie reached between you, his thick fingers rubbing slick, tight circles against your clit. You were so wet you could hear it and it was obscenely hot, winding you up tighter and tighter. Your breath caught in your throat and you keened, a wild, animal sound you’d never made before. “That’s it, baby,” he urged. “Let yourself go. I’ve got you.”
“Please, please, please,” you whispered, your voice ragged, unsure of what you were begging for but desperate for more, for whatever this was to never end. Eddie’s mouth was back at your throat, his teeth piercing your skin, and the sharp sting of pain threw you over the edge. Your orgasm bloomed through you, violent in its intensity and you shouted his name, biting down on his shoulder to muffle the sound.
“No, I want to hear you,” he mumbled against your throat, his thrusts deep and uneven as he fought to hold back his own end.
You whimpered his name, the overstimulation threatening to overwhelm you as he kept rubbing lazy circles against your clit. Your hands tangled in his hair, yanking his mouth to yours. Ignoring the shock of pain at your neck as his teeth ripped away from your skin, you licked into his mouth, tasting yourself on his tongue and moaning. He followed you over the edge, coming hot and deep with a grunt of your name, his fingers digging bruises into the flesh at your hips.
After what felt like an eternity, your heart rate slowed and your breathing calmed. You shivered, Eddie’s cool skin against the sheen of sweat that coated your body sending goosebumps erupting over your arms and legs. Nudging him gently, you moved from beneath him, but his hand caught your wrist as you stood. His eyes were soft when he looked up at you, pleading and nervous.
“I need a shower,” you answered the unasked question. He pushed off the couch and followed you to the bathroom, a shadow at your back.
You turned the water to hot, praying to whatever god that listened that it would be enough to ease the aches and knots that had started twisting your muscles. Turning to face Eddie, you gathered his hair up in a knot at the top of his head and secured it with a hair tie, a few riotous curls escaping to frame his face. He quirked a brow at you and you shrugged. “No sense in getting it wet again.”
After your shower you lay in bed, your limbs tangled with Eddie’s. Kate Bush played softly in the background and Eddie dragged his fingertips across your scalp, slowly easing the headache that had begun to pound at your temples. You were tired, exhausted even, but you were afraid to close your eyes, terrified that if you did, he would simply disappear.
“We should probably talk about, well… everything,” he said softly.
“Yeah,” you mumbled in agreement. The unsaid questions hung heavy in the air.
What the hell happened to you?
What’s really going on in Hawkins?
Do you feel this too?
After a pause, you ventured “Can it wait until tomorrow?”
You could feel the tension leaking out of Eddie, disappearing like smoke as he relaxed into your arms. “Oh, absolutely.” He mumbled it into your shoulder, pressing lazy, open mouthed kisses to any skin he could reach. You did the same, slipping in and out of sleep, drawn back by the need to reassure yourself that he was still there, to keep mapping his body in the dark.
You finally drifted off with his weight comfortably above you and your arms around his waist, each clinging to the other in a silent promise.
I’m here.
You’re safe.
I’ve got you.

So I haven’t been keeping up with Mando S3 at all but I had to go and watch the Shadow Council scene because oh man.
Oh ho ho man.
I love it????
It’s just so delightfully late 90s Legends EU ham and cheese with all the quarreling Imperial warlords in holoconference together bickering about where to spend their limited resources and infighting about who’s going to be heading up the Imperial Remnant.
Palleon desperately reassuring everyone, “Not to worry, Thrawn’ll be back soon and he’ll have a plan, ha ha ha, no for real guys promise, he’s totally coming!”
Gideon snarking back like, “SURE WOULD BE NICE TO SEE HIM OCCASIONALLY.”
Project Necromancer, AKA what I assume is Sequel Trilogy rehabilitation.  An admirable effort on the showrunners’ part, some kudos deserved there. (Though I’m one of the people who thinks the sequels are unsalvagable I do admire other writers’ efforts to at least try.)
And all around just the juiciest plot developments to marinate over.
I’ve not made it a secret that I am resistant and actively hostile towards any efforts to lionize Thrawn or downplay him as a villain so this was yet more petty vindication on my end, with his return to leading the Imperial Remnant implied to be all but a foregone conclusion.
With Ahsoka title-dropping Heir To The Empire in her show’s trailer and this scene confirming general plot ideas from that Legends series I am definitely a lot more intrigued by what exactly Thrawn has been up to in the interim.
What did you do to my blueberry son, you bastard?
My prevailing theory?  It actually comes from a bit of Thrawn’s dialogue with Nightswan in the first new canon book:
“Perhaps I have a more optimistic view of my fellow beings than you do.  So you consider tyranny to be a bulwark against evil.  For how long?”
“Explain.”
“How long will you accept tyranny as a necessary part of Imperial rule?” Nightswan asked.  “Until all resistance is silenced?  Until all evils are vanquished?”
“Perhaps your optimism is not as strong as you claim,” Thrawn said.  “The tone of a government is set by its leader.  But Emperor Palpatine will not live forever.  When it comes time for his authority to be handed to another, my position as a senior officer will allow me to influence the choice of that new leader.”
Basically, I think Thrawn still wants to have some control over who it is that will take over the infrastructure, supplies, scaffolding, and heirarchy of what remains of the Empire, so he can direct the machine more favorably towards his own interests and the interests of the Ascendancy.
Ultimately arriving at the conclusion of course that it’s himself. :)
The only other burning question is of course where has Ezra been in all of this and like I’ve said before, I hope he’s being a lovely thorn in Thrawn’s side and annoying the absolute crap out of him.
We’ll see!

More Ted Lasso Musings
Before I start let me say once again that this season has contained absolutely wonderful moments and is still a wonderful bit of light in a buuuuunch of darkness. Also spoiler warning.
Cool, so I've figured out what's bothering me this season and its that they're either showing us everything and telling us nothing, or showing us nothing (of actual character significance) and telling us everything. in the showing us everything and telling us nothing category we've got my love Keeley Jones. I feel like we've spent a massive amount of time at KJPR and I still feel like I'm scratching my head as to what they were trying to tell us. They've set Keeley up to be this incredibly competent and bright person, and when they give her her shot it all goes to shit. and I get it "you can't always get what you want" so says the song for this season's trailer, but I'm struggling to understand the thing that she got that she needed that she didn't already have. She had Rebeccas love and support, I mean she has Roy back but this does not seem like the show where the moral of a long story about her starting her own business is that she has her boyfriend back. I actually would love people's take on what you think we're supposed to get out of Keeley's storyline.
Onto the telling but not showing category we got my guy Nate the Great. He has been so totally short changed this season on his redemption arc. It is HARD to become a better person. It is HARD to admit you fucked up. It is HARD to turn against your own knee jerk insecurities and reactions. It is ESPECIALLY HARD to do that in an environment that is actively incentivizing you to act on those insecurities and reactions. So even though I absolutely believe Nate deserving and capable of these huge leaps forward in overcoming his own internal crap, I think we've completely sidelined that narrative of what's pushing him to actually take those huge leaps forward. At the end of season 2, it was clear Nate was really struggling, and I'm not gonna lie I hated the way he treated those around him, like Beard said it was "personal, and weird" but I also felt a huge amount of sympathy and compassion because no one gets that way without something horrible happening to them first. So when the last scene of season 2 happened and he was teased as this big time villain, I was sad, but not surprised. I expected him to get his redemption, but I also expected that to be a really difficult journey for him where he was likely going to get worse before he got better. So now we're in season 3 and he suddenly just makes all these huge leaps forward, they feel from out of nowhere, not because I don't feel like he's capable of it, but rather that should've been more difficult to do, and also it should've been a moment of great personal triumph for Nate! The way I think of it is imagine if Rebecca had just waltzed into teds office in season 1 and confessed about the sabotage with no context. Sure we would've believed her capable of it, sure we would've believed she deserved forgiveness, but we all would've been scratching our heads as to what made her have this reckoning within herself. they would've told us Rebecca changed instead of shown why and how she changed like what they're doing with Nate.
I actually think there's so many parallels between the relationship of Nate and Jade and the relationship of Roy and Jamie. Both Nate and Roy made stupidly bad and self destructive decisions around the end of last season. Both are in a low point in their emotional journeys, almost all of Nathan's emotional scenes have been with Jade while all of Roy's emotional scenes have been with Jamie. The thing is, that's not where their respective internal work really needs to get done? Nate already took the plunge and asked out Jade last season, and Roy already showed real vulnerability when he hugged Jamie after the thing with his dad (not that I think that means everything wrapped up with a shiny bow or anything, but just that each character has much bigger fish to fry in terms of character growth) I do think Nate and Jade have become really cute just as Roy and Jamie's scenes have felt ripped straight out of a fluffy fanfic. but do these scenes actually show us that Nate/Roy are getting better? We've already seen Nate being an absolute sweetheart with the women in his life who he loves, his mother, his niece (even if we didn't actually see her till this season it was clear that they had a very warm and positive relationship) and Keeley, so him being able to be vulnerable and open up with Jade is lovely, but not really that new of a territory. If we could just see Nate having a shift maybe with his coaching staff or the West Ham players, this would feel more meaningful because we saw him struggle way more with people he perceives as part of his own hierarchy structure. Its the same with Roy. We've seen Roy open up to Jamie in the past so their relationship, while fucking adorable, is not doing anything to address the real struggle inside Roy that he's ignoring. It would be way more meaningful to see Roy have moments where he chooses to have joy instead of running away. Instead we get scenes like where the sports pundit squad just says oh by the way Nate left West Ham, in the same way that Ms. Bowen says to Roy that he seems less stuck. Umm what? Since when? what happened? All tell and no show. Or showing only the least character growth relevant scenes and then just be like oh by the way they fixed it.
reblog and comment away because I'm interested in people's take on this.

*nasal voice* as an artist: movie ask 3! also 5 and 11 (bc I, too, love me some "problematic" tropes sometimes)
3. Post a screenshot and ramble on about why this one frame visually appeals to you (colors, blocking, expression, set decoration whatever).
omg this question is so hard. It could be random, like pick the last movie, take a screen, write. But I ended up clicking through dozens of films, watching a lot of fav moments. From Firth & Moore on the carpet in A Single Man, to Ken Watanabe standing in front of Godzilla in G:KotM, then the whole ending to Midsommar, had a quick cry about seeing the hanging shoes in Jojo Rabbit, looked at the way Amy returns in Gone Girl, that shot through the bars in Hustlers, or all the gorgeous bizarre shots that make up Annihilation, also I went through the whole of Fox' X-Men franchise, because I have so many moments I cherish (it is the best superhero franchise as a whole, even though the parts alone are mostly just mediocre, the sum of it is amazing)... then I was downstairs for a snack and a tv spot reminded me that Cruella exists, so I cave with this one:
Tumblr media
You hear the name Cruella and what do you think about? Dalmatians and a black&white theme. With the fur she wants and the hair she has. And then this movie gives us a theme party. And it is very, very important that everything is strictly black and white only. It's a whole thing. Except Cruella has a plan and she's gonna be a distraction. She is disruption. She will make everybody look. With the color red. And I am here for it!
This moment was in all the trailers, you know it's coming. Yet while watching I'm always excited nearing this fabulous entrance. And it's not the effect of how she gets rid of her white coat with the flame, it's the absolute contrast to everything around her. Perfectly framed in... a door frame. An entrance for the ages. Introducing herself. Introducing the alter ego. The different persona. I am so here for that.
The whole film is about style. The visuals are gorgeous, the music filling the rest of the mood. This is what movies are for! Colored pictures in motion with sound - to invoke feelings. And here you know something big is happening. There is a stage set. It's all planned. In-story for the characters and for the viewers watching the screen.
There is nothing new or super groundbreaking. It's all about using well known tools in an effective way. And it tells us something about the character. Ella is used to being in the background, while dreaming about fashion she tries hard to not stand out (that would interfere with her little criminal endeavours and get unwanted attention for sure). But this is the birth of Cruella on the scene. Bold. Loud. Drawing all eyes on her. (And also startling people, because being a bit scary is fine.)
*chef's kiss* Sometimes a little bit of flair is all I need. Not even attached to any emotional outburst. Can we just applaud films for using the full spectrum of the medium for its own sake every once in a while, just to entertain?!
5. A character who deserves their own spin-off.
The very obvious, tumblr-friendly answer: Riley Johnson (Aubrey Plaza) from Happiest Season. Show me her life, show me she's good at her work and give me some fun disaster dates she goes on, trying to find somebody a bit more longterm. Witty, forgiving, a bit guarded and then opening up in a non tragic way. Hmm, sadly that's it. I don't even have fancasts for a row dates or anything. Just give me romcom fun with a dash of that specific Plaza-charme. (Not against reuniting her with Rachel Keller from Legion.)
11. A trope or setting you know is mishandled a lot and carries a huge problematic/toxic burden, yet you do enjoy it?
I am highly aware how terrible representation and portrayal of anything mental health/illness related films (and tv) overall are. Especially how most people are not knife wielding dangers to the general public. I am very much about treating people with dignity and respect, not judging but helping. I have seen/experienced things, I know reality.
However horror (next to sci-fi) is my fav genre. And you give me a movie that starts with "in a mental asylum", I'm in. Be it A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 with teens thrown in a hospital (despite telling the truth and not self-harming) or Grave Encounters with supernatural shenanigans in a former bad place. I love M. Night Shyamalan's Split, because James McAvoy plays all those personalities so well. Nobody ever should think about that film when talking about actual disassociative identity disorder!
We need to have that conversation about demonizing mental illness. But yes, here I sit being audience for horror films using it as a gimmick (always glad when it leans into supernatural territory).
I am also absolutely the audience for films like Girl, Interrupted or One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Both dvds are on the shelf. Great films. But sometimes I just want John Carpenter's The Ward or plain old Psycho. A film like The Babadook working with metaphors for deep dark soul dives isn't exactly an easy watch, so I'll take some "criminally insane" slashers as well.

Never Have I Ever ...
Over analysed a TV trailer and its subsequent stills (Devi x Paxton heavy)
Previous theories here and here
For @seeyoumondaydevi @kcollgewoman23
3x01 - NHIE ... been slut shamed
Spoiler alert if you havent read the s3 e1 table read >>> Most of the trailer comes from episode one.
We have the Daxton entrance; the mean girls slut shaming Devi in the bathroom; the girls in Devi's room talking about (who's not) having sex; Devis boyfriend party session with Dr Ryan; Daxton make out sessions at Devi's and a failed one post date at Paxton's garage.
3x02 - NHIE ... had my own troll
The popularity that Devi had longed for isn't all it's cracked up to be, as the hate and jealousy of others start to trigger her buried insecurities and traumas.
The Gossip Girl blasts from Lady Whistleboy are coming it hot.
Will we finally find out what the anonymous text means? My bet is still it being Paxton's biggest fan, Trent Harrison.
I think the "we don't make sense" conversation happens early in the season as Daxton navigate the roller-coaster that is their first serious relationship. They reconcile and survive their first bf/gf fight ... but it starts going down down in an earlier round (will they go down swinging?)
3x03 NHIE ... had a Valentine
Hoping for some love all round in the form of Treleanor and Kamanish (is that what were calling Kamala and Mr K now? Idk you tell me).
Anyway, Paxton makes her dinner and it's too cute. The little things. Like ya know he got those roses from the garden and put it in a beer cup cause he couldn't find a vase.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, it doesnt end well as per Devi’s expression pictured right. Nalini busts them (finally, cause how long can Devi get away with him in her room). As memory serves, she does not approve of Paxton.
Nalini starts running interference with a goal to set Devi up with whom Nalini hopes to be her future SIL - Super hot, Stanford bound, Des.
Devi is in big trouble which is why she has conditions to attend next episode's party.
3x04 - NHIE ... made someone jealous
Tumblr media
So now it's confirmed this is when we are first introduced to Des, and 100% not an uggo.
Raise your hand if you felt personally victimised when it's revealed who she was really looking at with wide eyes.
In the same episode theme, this could also be a possibility of Aneesa's jealousy rising. Please don't do my girl dirty, she deserves the world too.
Tumblr media
3x05 NHIE ... been ghosted
The fallout of ep 4 ... oh dear, looks like we may have a character arc backslide by P.H.Y in this one. Let's hope not. My soft boy deserves growth. Protect at all costs.
Maybe this is when we'll have more Treleanor to balance the drama. If the play is Romeo and Juliet ... so help me God. I love it but also a bit on the nose?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3x06 NHIE ... had a breakdown
"What do you have to lose? Certainly not your dignity."
Her mind.
She's is absolutely going to lose her mind and shit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3x07 NHIE ... cheated
I thought I read that he appears in ep 8 but for now I'm going to assume it's 7. Deacon Phillippe will appear as Parker, Devi’s debate team rival from a well-funded private school, he’s able to coast through debate tournaments thanks to his school’s advantages and is always down to party.
I assume Addison makes their appearance in the same episode ❤️ played by Terry Hu, a non-binary person from the local private school, bringing more than impressive trivia skills to the group.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Please Mindy and Lang >> No physical or emotional cheating. Idc if it's academics, debate, or even board games!
Lets not do the old once a cheater always a cheater.
3x08 - NHIE ... hooked up with my boyfriend
In the words of Poorna herself:
🍆 + 🌶 = s3
Same nerds. New Drama.
Like I said, we get it. The D's V card gets swiped.
And in my favourite twist, it's revealed Paxton is also a virgin.
3x09 untitled / 3x10 untitled
So as I've written this, I've realised Daxton will experience some relationship obstacle or challenge each episode.
Pressures of sex, feelings of incompatibility, family members that don't approve of you, jealousy and insecurities of other people that you think your partner likes more, lack of communication, shutting down / shutting out, having a partner that is not in a healthy state of mind, general cheating, actual intimacy.
The last two eps will address the outcome and also whether we see Paxton graduate this year.
And from here it will go one of two ways:
1) Endgame.
2) First love, but not last love.

So many worlds, so little time. Infinite possibilities, creating infinite realities. Long have I watched the trickster god sow chaos. But . . . what if Loki saved Asgard from Tony Stark’s revenge?
Thor—Son of Odin, God of Thunder, wielder of the hammer Mjolnir—is dead. And Loki is responsible.
It was only meant to be a joke—tampering with the Destroyer, changing Thor’s course to Midgard—a bit of mischief with a chance of maiming. But Loki's harmless prank spiraled out of control, unleashing death and destruction on New York City and the heroes sworn to protect it. The city was saved, but at the cost of Thor’s life.
Furious and heartbroken, the All-Father banishes Loki to Earth for his crime. Loki finds himself in a realm of boxed wine, instant noodles, and some sort of regional performance troupe known as the “Buffalo Bills.” It’s a meager existence, far from Asgard’s grand courts, but he finds his new friend, Brian the Gecko, a much more engaging companion than the sycophants back home. A true meeting of the minds. Loki is the God of Mischief—but he knows, deep down, that he never truly deserved to stand next to their father’s golden child Thor, as two true sons of Odin.
Yet, he cannot even endure his exile in peaceful isolation. A Valkyrie—Hel-bent on carrying out her oath to Thor—barges into his trailer-home with his brother’s final words from the beyond: a plea to find a certain Dr. Jane Foster and pass on Mjolnir to its rightful heir.
While Loki struggles to fulfil his brother’s last request, the far-reaching consequences of his fatal prank return to haunt him. Blinded by grief from those he lost in the chaos wrought by Asgard, Iron Man vows revenge on those who consider themselves gods. Determined to protect the Earth from the might of this unpredictable alien power, he forges Asgard’s own weaponry into a lethal suit of armor, set on eradicating any tether between their worlds. Consequences be damned. When Asgard looks to Loki for salvation, he must answer the question: Am I truly worthy?

Paint (2023) Review
Tumblr media
I dressed up as Bob Ross at a party last year. All was well and dandy if it weren’t for another guest having shown up in exactly the same costume. I may have had the bigger fake wig, but he had the grander bushier real beard. It was truly a tragedy for the ages.
Plot: Carl Nargle, a local treasure with a soothing whisper of a voice, hosts his own painting show on Vermont public television. His art has attracted the attention of many women over the years, especially those who work at the station. However, when a new painter gets hired to revitalize the channel, Carl's own fears regarding his talents as an artist are brought to the forefront.
So unlike the poster and trailer may make one think, this is not actually a Bob Ross biopic. Yes, Owen Wilson has the signature afro perm and the soft melodic calming tone of voice, and he does indeed paint landscape paintings on a TV show, but this is not the 80′s art celebrity we know. Paint is a movie that asks what if Bob Ross weren’t a benevolent and kind hearted cultural force, but actually a womanizing and arrogant megalomaniacal prick? As such, to not tarnish the name of the original legend, the movie creates this fictional persona of Carl Nargle who shares the charming DNA to his real life counterpart, but in this case is a bit of an a-hole. So yes, this is a What If scenario, and an amusing one at that, especially with respect to the current MeToo movement, however the result doesn’t work for an entire feature length film.
Paint is very much a Saturday Night Live sketch that has been stretched to its limits, and as soon as the novelty of a womanizing Bob Ross wares off within the first 10 minutes, the rest of the film suffers from an identity crisis, wondering what it wants to be and where it wants to go. I will say its evident that director Brit McAdams and his crew have really good intentions and try so hard to create a charming little indie movie, with the world they create reminiscent of the awkward weirdness of the likes of Twin Peaks, and the filming style inspired by the colour palettes of Wes Anderson, Richard Linklater and Woody Allen. Owen Wilson too is seriously committing to the bit, delivering the soft spoken performance of a rock-listening retro-van-driving hipster painter, and even though the character is very morally incorrect, it’s hard not to warm up to Owen Wilson. And that perm on his head is a thing of beauty! Rest of the ensemble is unfortunately stuck with very weak written unmemorable roles, with only Stephen Root managing to bring his usual signature weasel slimy antics as the head of the TV network.
There are moments in Paint that are truly amusing, including a scene where Owen Wilson is attempting to steal newspapers from people’s front doors that has a negative article written about him whilst obeying by the highway code, or setting all his artwork on fire and then sitting in an armchair in the midst of it all smoking a pipe, or a fun little end joke about his connection to Banksy. Again, I don’t think the movie deserves the outright hate its been getting from critics online, as its by no means terrible, however for a movie about Owen Wilson playing a Bob Ross-type I feel this is a missed opportunity for what could have been a truly weird and unique comedy. Instead, it is just okay.
Overall score: 5/10

Nobody asked for this but now that we have all the student trailers these are my actual thoughts on the redesigns (since I know we won't get a trailer for the faculty next week and even if they're unlockable/DLC later I don't trust IS to give them a glow up). I'm only talking personal preference here, no deep analysis into what the costumes signify or whatever.
Edelgard: on its own? It's a cute design, and the hair looks pretty nice in spite of how thin the braid looks. Coming from 3H? Uninspired and bland. The red emperor dress had presence, it signified power, it had that Enormous Bitch Who Will Ruin Your Day energy. I'm not sensing any of that here, it's like they wanted to remind us she's 5'2" and likes teddy bears and probably wears floaties to the beach. 6/10, isn't lower because I like red.
Hubert: massive downgrade. They masacred him for the meme potential. 2/10, would hate it less if his original TS design didn't exist and set such a high standard for Hubert swag, but sadly this is the timeline we live in.
Ferdinand: meh. The hair looks fine but his outfit says nothing. 5/10
Linhardt: Gender/10. The clear winner of the Eagles. He's even wearing a nun collar to boot! May as well be wearing that "I really wish I weren't here right now" button and I love that for him. His whole cozy outfit looks like it would be great for naps. I wish him the best.
Caspar: deserved better. I always hated his TS outfit to begin with, but his undercut gave him a cute shonen boy edge. This hairstyle makes him look like all of my male classmates in middle school, and I went to middle school in the 2000's. I can smell the Axe body spray from here. 1/10
Bernadetta: she looks like an onion. 4/10, and only because I like her outfit and color scheme. No, I don't care that "it fits her".
Dorothea: pretty, but doesn't do much for me. 7/10, but overall a downgrade. The braid is sick tho.
Petra: 9/10. It's grown on me. I like that they gave her sandals, and THE BRAIDS ARE BACK!! Braids good.
Dimitri: 7/10, not great, not terrible, always good to see him with both eyes. His original TS look will always be iconic though. Hard to top that honestly.
Dedue: 10/10. They took everything we love about his design and made it better, gave him his earring back, and gave him a BEARD! AND a BRAID! I am a simple human with simple tastes, and I love everything that's going on in here.
Felix: 6/10. No tsundere thigh highs, no poofy sleeves, he's wearing a bump-it. The hair itself isn't terrible but I got so used to the spiky volleyball hair that seeing him in a hairstyle that actually looks normal feels out of character for him. It's fine I guess, but his outfit is missing that wealthy douchebag energy the old one had.
Ashe: cute, very Ashe, a little bit of gender going on. 7/10, nothing much to say here.
Sylvain: 0/10. They didn't even try.
Mercedes: ara ara/10. Absolute perfection. I do admit I miss the hat, but her hair is so gorgeous she doesn't even need it.
Annette: 10/10. The winner of the Lions. It's like she's ready to open up her bakery. I do still have a soft spot for her old timeskip dress but the hair is very much an upgrade. I want to pick her up and put her in my pocket.
Ingrid: 3/10. I just wanted the braid back.
Claude: 8/10, would be higher if he still had a beard. The color scheme is pretty nice.
Hilda: 8/10, love her look but still prefer the original. I'm glad they didn't really change much and kept it very much her.
Lorenz: 8/10, again not much of a change, he's very Lorenz and I'm here for that.
Raphael: 9/10. It just fits him better than his original TS look. He looks ready to go rock climbing with you. He looks like he would host the sickest barbecue ever.
Ignatz: 6/10. Love the hair clips and side swept thing going on, not the biggest fan of everything else.
Lysithea: 7/10. I will not forgive them for taking the veil away, but the outfit overall is cute, it's just not as great as the original. It's just kinda... plain? Yeah, sorry.
Marianne: 9/10. HAIR DOWN!!! That's it. That's literally the only thing I wanted and I got it so I can't complain. Also she still looks very much like a holy woman, but her hair is short enough that we can see her back window... business in the front, party in the back.
Leonie: 7/10. While I'm happy the short hair is back, the actual haircut itself doesn't say much and would have preferred something much closer to her academy hair. Still a cute design overall tho.

Discover the Engaging Experience of Stories from the Outbreak
Tumblr media
Stories from the Outbreak launches the turn-based roguelike zombie RPG game on Linux, Steam Deck, Mac, and Windows PC. Thanks to the skilled team at Coldwild Games for creating such an engaging experience. Available on Steam and Humble Store with 87% Very Positive reviews. Here is my explanation of Stories from the Outbreak, a fresh addition to the gaming scene that's gaining attention. Developed by Coldwild Games, the indie squad behind titles like Merchant of the Skies and Lazy Galaxy. This title is also a standout in their lineup on Linux and Steam Deck. It's 2020, and a bizarre disease has turned the world into disorder, with zombies on a rampage. The twist? You're right in the middle of Riga, due to survive this madness. The setting itself is a breath of fresh air – ditching the typical post-apocalyptic backdrops for something more intimate and real. What hooks you right into Merchant of the Skies is that is launches you into the survival aspect. You're also alone, no cops or army to call for backup. Your goal? Make it to Iceland via the last ferry from the western shore. The journey's not going to be a cakewalk, though. You've got to scavenge, strategize, and fight your way through a city crawling with the undead.
Stories from the Outbreak - Release trailer
youtube
The combat system deserves a special mention. It's also not your run of the mill hack and slash; we're talking deep, strategic battles where every decision counts. The flexibility in team building and character development adds layers to the gameplay. While keeping things fresh and engaging. But Stories from the Outbreak does not launch you into bashing zombies. The real charm lies in the journey and the choices you make. The title throws tests at you, challenging your morals and decision making skills. Your team members aren't just NPC's; they're individuals with their own beliefs and stories. Watching them interact and confront their differences adds a whole new dimension to the experience. The landscapes are pixelated, yes, but they're done so well that you feel immersed in this eerie, yet captivating world. The atmospheric storytelling is top-notch, making you feel every bit of the tension and despair of this crumbling society. Fans praise its excellent turn-based combat, engaging pixel art, and catchy soundtrack. Liking it to a blend of FTL and Darkest Dungeon. The launch is available on Linux, Steam Deck, Mac, and Windows PC. Stories from the Outbreak is a must-try turn-based roguelike zombie RPG for anyone who like a good survival challenge. While also taking part in a compelling story. So, if you're into titles that test your wits and pull you into a story, you've got to check this one out. Available on Steam, priced at $14.99 USD / £13.49 / 14,99€ with the 25% discount. And Humble Store with a 15% discount.

To Leslie (2022, dir. Michael Morris) - review by Rookie-Critic
Tumblr media
I'll be honest, To Leslie wasn't even on my radar until the Oscar nominations came out. I, somehow, had completely missed this movie that came out back in October, and now the lead actress, Andrea Riseborough, was having her name thrown in the same ring as Cate Blanchett and Michelle Yeoh for one the year's most prestigious film awards. So, when I saw the Angelika Theater close by had brought it back to theaters as a part of their awards film screenings, I jumped at the chance to go see it in that setting. It was such a sudden, last minute decision that I don't think I had even watched a trailer. I went into this completely blind, not knowing what to expect, and what I got was an absolutely stunning, beautiful, and emotionally affecting character study about the vicious consequences and results of living with addiction (in this case, specifically alcoholism). Now, I understand there's some controversy around Riseborough's nomination and the Academy has even released a statement saying that they're looking into their nomination process for future years, but let's set that aside for right now and just focus on the film itself and how it stands on its own merits.
Firstly, I don't care how unknown the film was or how exactly Riseborough got nominated, but she absolutely deserves it. This is an absolute powerhouse of a performance, with Riseborough drawing ire, sorrow, pity, and joy out of the audience all within the span of a couple of hours. If Michelle Yeoh's name wasn't also in the mix for Everything, Everywhere, All at Once, then I'd say Riseborough would absolutely be my personal pick. She makes you feel for Leslie well before the film ever gives you any reason to, and I think one of the most wonderful things about To Leslie is that it and Riseborough accomplish this sympathetic reaction without having you forget the misdeeds she's enacted as a result of her disorder. Marc Maron also deserves insane praise for his performance in this, playing a character that is so unlike himself that, even though he doesn't look any different, you can hardly believe is him at first.
I've never really seen a addiction recovery story quite like this one that revels in its smallness, that is able to move the audience without allowing them to forget all of the bad and the heartache Leslie has caused, and that's willing to paint the picture of how difficult recovery is when you've been abandoned and tossed to the side, provided with no avenue forward except for one of self destruction, where all that you have left is this addiction. That's not to imply that the people who have been hurt as a result of her addiction should have just toughed it out with her or anything, they made the best choice for them and got out of a toxic situation, which is understandable and valid, and in that way Leslie has no one to blame but herself. However, and the film conveys this well, all you really need is one person to not give up, to provide that avenue forward, and to plant the seeds of recovery. There's still a fair bit that falls on the addicted, it's not entirely up to another person to carry you through your recovery, but no one can do it on their own, and To Leslie is a pillar of that kindness.
I'm attempting to dig through my memory of the film to find something to critique, but I'm coming up with nothing. There are a couple of sequences that maybe overstay their welcome a bit, but really those bits, which show Leslie when she's close to her lowest point, stick with you and make her road to redemption that much more meaningful by the end of the film, and that final scene got to me so much that I think the only other film from 2022 that got more tears out of me than this was Aftersun. To Leslie is a marvel, it completely swept me off my feet in surprise in a way I don't think I've felt since 2021's C'mon C'mon, and regardless of how Riseborough got nominated for an Oscar or how I even missed this release in the first place, I'm unendingly grateful that it crossed my path, because it's truly placed itself toward the top of rankings for last year.
Score: 10/10
Currently back in theaters in a limited capacity. Check your areas theaters to see if its playing near you.

can i just... people creating gif sets and saying that steve is the brother that max deserved?
yeh okie dokie fine. i have feelings. imma bare my teeth a lil bit...
do these ‘antis’ realize that minimizing, cleansing, erasing, and/or flat out denying the trauma in others (including max’s own trauma).... perpetuates the growth and existence of further traumatization, victimization, and violence?
whitewashing the fandom so you can feel cozy because you cannot fathom that some of us out here take comfort and solace in seeing a show that nods to darker and grayer corners of life that are beyond perfect.
ways of life and upbringings that for years we may have assumed may have just been our own personal hell to endure. and to see you crusading about to try and blot it out because only problematic people get abused, or whatever other screwed up lines of thinking you have....
yes this is a fandom. yes this is a fictional scenario. but i’ve seen it on other posts floating around. we all read this. your words have reach. your words have consequence....
as much as some dummies think it doesn’t if its online.
imagine reading this and having just lost a sibling. or a parent. seeing those words. ‘he’s the brother she deserved’. the way a person can instantly internalize that.
it’s not much of a reach at times as you think. you might as well have walked right up to them right after the funeral, or maybe a week after at school and say ‘oh i heard your brother od’ed....? well. you deserved better anyways.’ ‘they died in car crash? they were a real asshole to you though. you deserved better...’
the absolute fuck people? you got any humanity left?
think for even a second about what people go through. think about someone other than your selfish self.
when billy died max was probably immensely conflicted. he died trying to save the entirety of hawkins, probably the world by extension. he said ‘i’m sorry’ right to her face with his dying breath. were you asleep on that part???
so not even six months later when she’s living in a trailer park, neil has left, and she’s deflecting in the counselor’s office and lucas is asking her why she’s acting so distant? -bro. you try to hold your shit together with that much upheaval.
i honestly don’t know how max doesn’t fall apart some times. because some one she didn’t like. probably convinced herself she did hate at times died to protect her. he did something HUGELY brotherly. highly conflicting. neil and susan at each other’s throats before he leaves. plus however neil processes (or doesn’t with billy’s death).
so.... to just blanket statement all of this... and i mean i could just keep writing more truly... but i won’t bore you.
did max deserve a better brother? yeah sure. that’s not the point. don’t boil it down to such a callous and narrow-minded, one size fits all solvable solution. how sick can you be.
saying max deserved a better brother may shift the role of primary abuser (and your sense of guilt) onto billy, but it does not fix max’s situation. viewing the situation like this denies that max was ever a part of the abuse cycle in her family. it waters down the dimensionality that she has as a character. she may have needed more from her brother. but she still needs a present parent, adult role models, she needs loads more support from her friends in her support network. she’s isolated.
don’t pop off with crap like this you dinguses. jesus.
