Xiao Yuliang Interview [Eng Trans]

so remember this post? yeah well i wound up doing a mostly full translation of the entire 6 minute interview on twitter. some parts are paraphrased and a few details were skipped bc he sometimes repeated himself and there were one or two details i wasn’t 100% sure of, but other than that an eng transcript of the full interview is below the cut:

1. Introduce your role in "Ultimate Note"?

XYL: In Ultimate Note I play Zhang Qiling, Xiaoge.

2. What kind of impression does this character leave in your heart?

XYL: Before, I thought he was a really strong, and then a very cool, and then a very cold/detached person. But later, I finished reading the novel and read the script, and I felt like he's someone who lets your heart ache for him. The feeling he gives me--because once I was reading the script in a car, and I almost wanted to cry for him, because he's always searching for the things he's lost. And he's very strong, but he wasn't born strong; he also went through a lot, and he made himself strong. He can bleed, and he can get hurt; it's just that he doesn't say anything, and he doesn't show that he's in pain.

3. Talk about the initial pressure of receiving this role?

XYL: When I got this role, the pressure was really really big, but I also thought I was pretty lucky, because I'd played Zhang Qiling before, and I get to play him again, and I think that's pretty lucky. But the pressure is too big, on set right now, the pressure is very big.

4. Netizens were pretty satisfied with your performance; have you seen these comments?

XYL: When Sha Hai was airing, I saw their comments. Some of them approved, and I was happy, but others--like, saying some suggestions or opinions--I also looked at them. I also looked at the performances of other actors who played Zhang Qiling and comments on their performances. I used them as a reference, and I learned from the experiences/evaluations of others.

5. What was the greatest challenge of playing Zhang Qiling?

XYL: The biggest challenge is that there are too few lines. It's really hard to act! [Xiaoge] has some expressions where it's just, you can't make them too obvious or too "unrestrained" because his actions are also very restrained, but if you're too restrained then everyone just thinks you don't have any reactions. And the editors are also very hardworking, because they'll have 4 pages, and I won't have a single line, just reactions. The others will talk for 10 minutes, and I'll just be reacting. [Xiaoge] is a person with few/no words, but with his whole heart, he wants to go care for others...it's very difficult; this "no lines" is very difficult. Another thing is fight scenes are very difficult, and the weather is too hot.

6. What are some scenes that left the deepest impression on you?

XYL: Like when it's 3am, and we're running through a wild river, the water is all up to our waists, and we don't know what's underground. I was just afraid there were snakes, you know? Nothing we can do, just run. And there's also, because the filming location is at Xishuangbanna, there really are snakes. We've seen snakes etc on set, so we were afraid accidents would happen. Thankfully they didn't. And there was also when we were rubbing mud on our faces during the hot day. Actually, what we were rubbing was chocolate paste. When the chocolate on our faces dried, we spread on more, and it feels like you've become a "chocolate person", not a "mud person". I also tasted it--the BTS side clips recorded it; the taste is okay. [t/n: here is a link to that clip]

7. How did it feel working with the other actors in the crew?

XYL: Liu Yuning-laoshi [t/n: Hei Xiazi] is really nice. He doesn't have a temper, and he's a very calm and tranquil person. I think he's really nice. Xiao Xi [t/n: lit. “Little Xi”, nickname for Zeng Shunxi aka Wu Xie] is a little mischievous. Xiao Xi likes to stir up trouble on set and play around. In any case he plays around with Pangzi and me, but Liu Yuning-laoshi is more tranquil, not quite the same as [his character] in the show.

8. Before you posted a vlog caring for your pet on Weibo, why don't you introduce your pet?

XYL: My dog's name is a character I played once; my mom named him. Because we'd just finished filming that show, and then my mom got a dog, so she just called him my name in the show. Tell me, isn't that annoying? [t/n: drama was called 反骗天下/Fan Pian Tian Xia and his role was called 米若/Mi Ruo; his dog is apparently called 米诺/Mi Nuo.]

9. You've been an actor for awhile now; can you discuss what being an actor feels like?

XYL: Initially, before I became an actor, I thought, "Oh, cool". Everyday you're just, wow, holding weapons, cool! But now I think it's so hard. Especially while shooting this show, I got a sty for a month, and it's still not better even now. [t/n: you can definitely see the swelling under his eye in ep1] I think this sty is from accepting this role, or because of work. In any case, it's still not better. But it's no problem; thankfully, my hair can cover it. You also have to be careful of safety on set; real blades can slice open your hands. Once, I wasn't careful and cut my wrist, but thankfully the doctor's stitching skills were pretty good. When he was still stitching, I even said, "Doctor, you have to stitch it well, okay, I'm an actor, I use this hand to perform", and he said "Okay". After the stitches were done, he asked me, "Are you satisfied with the stitches?" The results were pretty good; it didn't really leave a scar.

10. Finally, promote this show to our fans.

XYL: You all have to watch our "Ultimate Note", because filming was really tough, and we've diligently tried to accomplish these three roles [t/n: the iron triangle, I’m assuming] and later on some of the the details of many of the books. I hope you will see similarities to the novel in some of the show's scenes.

and we are done! so yeah, i think his take on xiaoge’s character was the most important part, but some of the other stuff (listening to him complain about some things lmao) was kinda funny too. im still laughing about the whole ‘im an actor i need this hand to perform’ bit bc dude you literally sliced yourself open w a knife badly enough to need stitches but that’s your first priority???? glad you’re dedicated to your job though i guess but LOL

1. What do you want to say to Zhang Qiling?

XYL: Xiaoge, you've worked hard.

2. Who from the show would you pick to go with you on an adventure?

XYL: I’ll choose...I'll choose Pangzi, because he'll definitely bring food. And he's fat, and he's pretty joyful, oh right, I can also bully him.

3. Describe the level of your cooking skills.

XYL: Cooking skills? The rank of instant noodles. Just boiling instant noodles, then adding the flavor packets, and then tomatoes, eggs...instant noodles.

4. If you're not restricted, what kind of role do you most want to play?

XYL: If I'm not restricted, then I want to play that guy who, in the morning, is just delivering takeout or is really well-behaved and wears glasses, that type, and then at night he pushes his hair back like this [xyl mimes pushing his hair back], and he starts to....different types...in any case, like split personalities, right, split personalities.

5. A sentence to describe your ideal life.

XYL: My family and I are healthy, and I have enough money to go live a normal life, eat/drink whatever I want, travel with my family, and just grow up slowly.

oh right additional note, in zsx's interview, when asked which character he'd take, he said xiaoge without hesitation. and the interviewer asked if he wanted to know who xiaoge picked and zsx was all "he didn't pick me did he...I'll be leaving now, thank you~" 😂

This is originally an ask game that’s making the rounds here on Tumblr, but in this blog of course I answer everything. Quarantine Ask Game; questions by ghostly-nblm What’s your go-to snack? I haven’t really have one throughout this lockdown. I just snack on whatever’s available in our pantry - usually we have potato chips, salted egg chips, nuts, etc. And then sometimes my dad will whip up something for us himself, like wicked Oreos, churros, corndogs, and chocolate chip cookies. What’s a movie you could watch over and over? I could probably watch The Proposal everyday for the rest of my life and I doubt you’ll hear a complaint out of me. It’s just so funny, so lighthearted, and the entire cast meshes very well together. Favorite show to binge? Again when it comes to comfort shows/movies, I pick the lighthearted ones because they get me to relax and laugh a lot. That said, my favorite show to binge would be Friends. I recently started binge-watching it again and it feels good to come back to it after several months of not seeing an episode. 5 songs that make you want to dance? Shut Up And Dance - Walk the Moon Cinnamon - Hayley Williams Don’t Start Now - Dua Lipa Caught in the Middle - Paramore 7/11 - Beyoncé So, basically, Top 40 shit because it’s that genre that produces the most dance-y songs anyway. Pls don’t judge lmaaaaaao I like other artists I swear

5 songs that make you feel less lonely? I don’t know if I’ve ever turned to music to feel less lonely...I never really seek out that particular feeling. If anything, I listen to certain songs because I feel alone and I would want it to stay that way for the meantime.

Favorite meal to cook yourself? I always blank out at these cooking questions because I don’t know how to make anything, soz. When I start earning my own money I swear I’ll start experimenting with ingredients in the kitchen. You heard it here first. Seriously guys, when I finally get a stable income and you notice me spending it on unnecessary shit, feel free to nag me and tell me to start cooking!!! How do you “treat yourself”? With food. Food has always been my reward to myself after a long week, a hard exam, a bloody presentation, and basically after getting through something I had been dreading for a long time. Favorite thing to do when doing self care? Surveys. Who have you been talking to the most? My family, I guess. “The most” is really pushing it though; I don’t talk a lot these days and it’s been difficult for me to sustain a conversation and not drain my battery in the middle of it. One thing you really miss right now? The past. I normally don’t think about it, but if there’s something from the past that I do miss, I end up pining hard for it. If you could be self-isolated with anyone who would it be? Angela. We haven’t seen one another in seven months so we could definitely do with spending seven months together lmao. We miss the shit out of each other. Do you have any pets? Yes :) Small update on my dogs: so for the last four months Kimi has hated having Cooper around and snarls every time he senses he’s nearby. But, and we have no clue what changed, now he has started humping Cooper and wants to be near him all the time...ugh. Favorite video games? At the early early phase of the lockdown I played Mario Kart 8 on the Switch all day long. Then for some reason I stopped and I haven’t played since like April. I haven’t played other video games. Favorite podcasts? Ear Biscuits. Andi has also started their own podcast and it debuted like a week ago; it looks extremely promising, but I’m super behind since I’ve deleted all my socials. I’ll catch up once I’m in the right state of mind and am feeling better enough to come back on my accounts. Favorite YouTubers? The main channels I watch are Good Mythical Morning and The Try Guys. But throughout the quarantine sooooooo many local celebrities have started their own vlog channels and majority of them are super fun to watch. My faves would be Andi Manzano’s, Manny Pacquiao’s daughter Mary’s, and Bea Alonzo’s. Wake up time? These days I try to be out of bed by 8:30 so I can sufficiently prepare and clean up for work, but early on in the lockdown I liked staying up all night and then waking up at like 9 or 10 AM. Sleep time? Anywhere from 10 PM to 1 AM. If you could go anywhere right now where would it be? I’d be in Sagada, vacationing by myself and doing some hiking, spelunking, reflecting, and soul-searching. I wish I can go back there someday; I just reallllly need to be out of the house and out of the city for a while.

What’s a change you want to keep when self isolation is over? There is nothing I wish to keep from this quarantine. It turned my entire life around and I wish I had all the things I had before it instead. Have you learned something? Yeah. Some of them the hard way. Any new skills? I took up a course on marketing last month so that was a lot of fun. Hobby-wise, I’ve been thinking of getting into cross-stitching so I can’t wait to buy my own kit and start with that. I’m also learning a lot of new and super helpful skills at work, like coming up with PR tactics/executions, knowing what will work for a client and what wouldn’t, photo editing, etc. It’s been the best internship experience ever. What’s a hobby you’d like to start learning? ^ The latter. I’d also love to learn how to bake, and maybe? start a vlog because it’d be nice to have an outlet where I can express myself and do new things while sharing my experiences with other people. What’s something you’d like to get better at? I constantly want to improve at my job because perfectionism. What food do you wish you had right now? Coffee shop pastries. :( God I haven’t had one of those in a while; I miss them loads. Your go to quarantine outfit? I don’t have one but man, when I do go out I tend to overdress because I rarely get an opportunity or have a reason to drive out these days, so I allow myself to look cute and all dressed up even if I’m just meant to pick up food at my grandma’s or something. What have you done today? I’ve been taking this survey, taken a shower, cried for a half hour, played with Cooper, cradled Kimi like a baby, checked my emails, and taken a few sips of coffee. Any plans for tomorrow? Work work work. What’s on your “to watch” list? The second volume of Unsolved Mysteries is finally out on Netflix so I’m hoping I get around to watching a few episodes soon. Any musicians/bands you’ve discovered? Most recent one was Chase Atlantic but I discovered them like back in July. Since I’m not listening to a lot of music these days, I’m not expecting to find new bands or singers to get into any time soon. Post a selfie right now!! Eh. Post pictures of your pets! I don’t feel like raking through my photos this morning. Maybe some other time. When was the last time you drank water? Last night at dinner. When was the last time you ate? Last night. When was the last time you got up and stretched? I can’t remember when I last did that. I usually stretch in bed, though.

Favorite song right now? This has been asked on every damn survey recently. I’m sure you’ll find my answer within the first page of my blog. Favorite social media to scroll through? It used to be Twitter until the lockdown hit and everyone stopped going out and having interesting updates. Before I deactivated everything, I loved spending time on Facebook. What’s the last thing you ate? A slice of pizza. What’s the weather like where you are? It’s a little cloudy and cold. I’m expecting it to rain today. Have you been playing animal crossing? No, but I know so many people who have been. How are you feeling? 50% meh, 50% just going through the motions. Who’s the last person you texted? Ate Alyanna. We’re both going through rough patches at the moment so we were cheering one another up. I needed that positivity a lot this morning and I’m glad we had that interaction. What does your last text message say with no context? ”Waaaaaaaa cute” Post a meme that made you laugh recently:

Outdoor activity you’d like to do right now? Hiking, mountain climbing, camping. Anything that’ll help me get disconnected from the world for a few days, really. Something you’re looking forward to when quarantine is over? Doing all those ^, traveling, being able to actually go to a workplace (once I have one), seeing my friends, going to bars again. Someone you’d like to see when quarantine is over? Everybody, man. I don’t give a shit as to who it is. Any new games coming out you want to play? Not really. I’m just waiting on GTA 6 even though there’s been like 0 updates on that front. New shows you’ve discovered? I revisited The Crown, but that’s it. I haven’t discovered anything new. Most comfortable piece of clothing you have? I find all of them comfortable; that’s why I wear them at home haha.

Untitled - Part 6

Pairing: Junmyeon x You (Female!Reader)

“A... a trip?” you responded, holding your fork in mid-air and blinking a few times as you stared at him. “Which one?”

Junmyeon had mentioned upcoming trips to both California and Chile, and you were curious to know on which one he wanted to take you.

(You were secretly hoping it was California because then you might be able to convince him to take you to Disneyland.)

A soft smile tugged at your boyfriend’s lips, and he set his fork down gently on the edge of his plate. “Neither of those,” he answered with a shake of his head. “I want to go on a real trip with you. A vacation. Not for work.”

...Well, you wouldn’t lie and say you weren’t just a bit relieved.

Except maybe about the Disneyland part.

Ever since that first morning when you’d woken up next to Junmyeon, you’d been trying to figure out how you felt about being a part of that side of his life. He had continued to post about you on his story, and you had finally broken down one night and asked Junmyeon if he got any replies about them.

“Yeah, some,” he had told you. “Mainly just people asking who you are. I’ve never officially said anything about having a girlfriend, so people are just curious.”

You had told him he could mention you if he wanted to, of course. You were just still unsure about actually putting your face out there.

(Side note: The very next day, Junmyeon had posted a picture of the meal you ordered at dinner, and he had captioned it with “My girl knows how to order the insta-worthy food.” You seriously loved how he couldn’t wait even a day to take you up on your offer of mentioning you. Junmyeon truly had one of the purest hearts you’d ever known.)

So, yeah. You were fine with him posting half-hidden pictures of you on his story and talking about you in captions or vlogs. But actually being in a vlog?

It just made you nervous.

Hearing he wanted to take you on a trip just for fun, just the two of you, made you happier than you could probably even express in words.

“I still want to take my camera and vlog,” he told you. Your brow began to furrow with anxiety, so he quickly added, “But just for us. I won’t upload them publicly. I just like to have the memories on film.”

Okay, well, that you could understand. You actually still watched Junmyeon’s videos frequently. In fact, you had watched his series of vlogs from Japan about four times over at this point.

“But where are we going?” you asked, leaning forward just a bit in anticipation.

Junmyeon leaned forward, too, reaching over and taking your hand in his. “We can go wherever you want to go.”

...Wait, what.

“Where...ever I want to go?” you repeated, wanting to make sure he had 1. really said that, and 2. really meant it.

A smile tugged at the corners of his lips, but he pressed them together to keep it from getting too cheesy and excited. “Wherever you want to go,” he repeated.

You were still a bit confused... and bewildered... I mean, surely, he didn’t really mean ‘wherever.’ Because, obviously, your first thought was...

“Well, I want to go to the South of France, but that’s so --”

“All right, South of France it is,” he nodded. “I figured you would say that. How about Provence?”

“Wh -- but -- Junmyeon, you -- I mean -- you’re not serious, right?” you stammered, your eyes widening and your brow furrowing even deeper than before. “I don’t know if I can afford that!”

Junmyeon’s eyes crinkled as he laughed softly. “Baby, I wouldn’t invite you to go on a trip and then make you pay for it.”

Oh, my god. Was he serious?

“What -- no, I --”

“I don’t have to pay for most of the trips I go on,” he interrupted. “I can save a lot more money than I spend. And do you know how many airline miles I’ve racked up? We could fly around the world a few times, and I’d probably still have some left.”

Had you even realized how generous your boyfriend was? He was offering to take you on the trip of your dreams!

But, because you were you, you had to ask him one more time.

“Are you sure?” you asked, the wrinkles on your forehead getting ever deeper. “I mean -- we haven’t been together that long, and --”

“We don’t have to go anytime soon if you’re uncomfortable with it,” Junmyeon assured you, squeezing your fingers. “Or we can go somewhere closer to home. I just... I want to spend more time with you. And traveling is a big part of my life, but so are you now. But if you want, I can just take a week off and we can stay home, just relax.”

Even though Junmyeon was doing his best to cover it up, you knew he would be disappointed if you said you’d rather just do that. Like he said, traveling was a big part of his life. It was his career, but it was also his hobby. His passion. There’s really not much better than sharing your passion with --

Oh, my.

You��d been about to finish that sentence with the words “someone you love.”

Love.

Before you could let yourself think way too much about that...

“How about,” you began, gnawing briefly on your lower lip. “We go somewhere much less expensive right now and save my dream trip for later?”

Junmyeon’s lips curved into a grin, and he brought your hand up to kiss the backs of your fingers. “I think that sounds like a great idea.”

Before the two of you had cleaned your plates, you had decided to go visit a picturesque countryside town a bit closer to home. Junmyeon wanted to relax, and staying in a more rural area was sure to mean less Internet and cell phone service. He would be forced to relax and not think too much about work.

But it also wasn’t too far away from a larger city, so civilization would be there if you really needed it.

Since your job as a writer was pretty flexible, Junmyeon had convinced you to go for a full week next month, in-between his trips to California and Chile.

(You were secretly still hoping he would invite you to California but only for the Disneyland thing.)

And you had also secretly decided that a trip to the South of France could wait until a much more important reason came along.

Over the next few weeks, you managed to only think about that little slip-up frequently. Which was much better than constantly.

And by ‘that little slip-up,’ I mean that time when you’d thought about the word ‘love.’ In relation to Junmyeon.

Okay, but like. Calling it a ‘slip-up’ sounds wrong. Because that implies it was a mistake. And it wasn’t! It was just... kind of... unexpected.

But was it, really?

Your feelings for Junmyeon had developed pretty quickly, especially considering how your first date had ended. You’d thought for sure you’d never see him again, but then, two weeks later, you’d kissed him. And it had only snowballed from there.

So, was it truly unexpected that you would think of the word ‘love’ after just three months? And that you would keep thinking about it during the fourth?

...Maybe not.

But you didn’t say anything about it because Junmyeon didn’t say anything about it.

The two of you were pretty open and very honest with each other, so if he wasn’t bringing up the L-word, then you had to assume he wasn’t there yet. Which was totally fine! You didn’t expect him to be there yet, so it’s not like you were disappointed or anything.

You were a little anxious, though.

So, really, your trip with Junmyeon came at just the right time. You were so looking forward to a whole week of relaxing and exploring the countryside. And you were more than curious to experience what it was like traveling with Junmyeon, a travel expert.

He had slept over last night since your flight was fairly early in the morning, and it would just be easier if the two of you went to the airport together instead of meeting there. And, also, you just liked sleeping in the same bed as him. He’d done it quite a few times over the past two months, and you found you slept more soundly when he was next to you.

As it turns out, you also flew in an airplane with much less anxiety when he was next to you.

You weren’t a novice traveler, but you certainly hadn’t traveled as often as Junmyeon; flying just wasn’t one of your favorite things. But the fact that your boyfriend knew his way around an airport, didn’t seem nervous in the least, and held your hand through the entire flight helped ease your worries.

(Plus... he was able to score first-class seats with his airline miles, so that definitely made things easier. And a lot more comfortable.)

As you expected, Junmyeon took a lot of pictures from the very beginning. The two of you took numerous airport and on-the-plane selfies, though he didn’t post any on Instagram. They were just for you guys.

He did post other pictures on his Instagram story since he was just that type of person. Your trip wasn’t for work, but he still wanted to document it for posterity. And he made sure to tell his followers he was going on an actual vacation -- so no vlogs. (No public vlogs, at least. He had packed his camera and told you he had every intention to film like he usually did. The two of you would be the only ones to watch them, though.)

Since you had decided to go somewhere closer to home, the flight wasn’t as long, so before you knew it the two of you were grabbing your carry-ons and heading off the plane. Junmyeon didn’t let go of your hand for even a second, not even when he was helping the taxi driver put your luggage into the trunk.

Unsurprisingly, Junmyeon started filming as the taxi drove you out to your Airbnb, and you’d watched enough of his vlogs by now to know he would do a cool scenery montage set to some chill music.

It was honestly super interesting to see what it was like behind the scenes. You’d never really thought about what it was actually like to film his vlogs, so you realized now you were a little excited to be on the other side of the camera this time. Maybe you would ask him to show you how he edits a video, too, so you could experience the entire process.

You were glad Junmyeon was filming the drive, though, because the passing scenery was absolutely beautiful. As you drove away from the airport, the buildings got fewer and farther between while the trees and greenery got more plentiful.

A soft ‘wow’ escaped from your lips when the line of trees by the highway broke to reveal deep green rolling hills dotted with cows and a bright azure blue sky with marshmallow clouds. You were so used to living near a city that you’d kind of forgotten what it was like to be away from all the hustle and bustle of urban living.

Junmyeon squeezed your hand and then handed you his camera. Your eyebrows raised slightly, but you took it and pointed the lens out the window to capture the awe-inspiring beauty.

When the taxi pulled up to a small cottage at the end of a very long dirt driveway, Junmyeon paid him and thanked him for his service. As the driver turned around and headed back into the city, your boyfriend took back his camera.

He let out a sigh before he said, “It’s going to feel awkward.”

“What is?” you asked, gripping the handle of your luggage.

“Vlogging. It’s always awkward at first, but you get used to it. And you don’t have to talk or say anything if you don’t want to.”

“Okay,” you chuckled. You watched as Junmyeon held his camera out in front of him, the screen flipped up to show the two of you in the frame.

He pressed the record button and brought up a hand to wave at the lens. But then he immediately laughed out loud, bringing that hand to cover his eyes.

“What?” you grinned, nudging him with your shoulder.

“I was about to greet my viewers like I usually do,” he explained with slightly pinkened cheeks.

“So, just greet us,” you suggested with a soft laugh.

He turned back to the camera, waving again and grinning cheesily as he said, “Junmyeon and Y/N! Hello!”

You waved, too, but you could feel your lips forming into such an embarrassed smile-smirk. Junmyeon had been right. It was awkward.

“We have just arrived at our Airbnb, and I don’t think we could’ve chosen a better place to spend a week of relaxation.” He then glanced at you over his shoulder, eyebrows raised. “What do you think, babe?”

“I think you chose it,” you pointed out quietly, still smiling bashfully. He had taken care of everything, in fact, but you had happily let him. He traveled for a living; there was no way you would even pretend to know how to plan a trip as well as he did.

“This is true,” Junmyeon chuckled. He then lifted an arm and put it around your shoulders, pulling you close to him and pressing a kiss to your temple. “Are you excited?”

Your cheeks warmed, and you avoided looking at the camera like the plague. “Yeah,” you answered, feeling the corners of your lips turning even more upward. “Very.”

“All right, let’s go look inside,” he announced. He brought his arm back from around you and grabbed a hold of his suitcase before turning the camera around so he could film the outside.

Junmyeon had found a cottage guest house on a huge farm, and you weren’t sure you had ever seen such a cute little place in your entire life. The outside was white with muted green shutters, a gray tin roof, and a pillow-laden swing on the quaint front porch. A white picket fence marked the perimeter of the yard, and the most lovely pink and purple flowers lined the cobblestone walkway leading up to the front door.

The listing had mentioned farm animals and a pool up at the main farmhouse, so you knew the outside had even more to offer... but you were anxious to see the inside.

When Junmyeon opened the door, he began walking through slowly, narrating a house tour as you followed and gazed around with your mouth agape.

The living room was cozy with the sweetest little old-fashioned fireplace and no television in sight. The kitchen cabinets were painted the same muted green as the shutters, and copper pots and pans hung from hooks on the wall next to the stove. A peek into the bedroom awarded you the sight of a white wrought iron bed frame with a pastel blue checked comforter and lots and lots and lots of pillows.

To put it simply, it was the most adorable house you’d ever seen. It was basically straight out of a magazine all about cozy cottages.

As Junmyeon popped into the bathroom, you rolled your suitcase over to the side of the door... and you couldn’t help yourself any longer. You hurried over to the bed and flopped onto it, landing on your back on top of the huge mountain of pillows.

Your boyfriend joined you not even a minute later, crawling onto the bed next to you and holding the camera up above the two of you. “You like it?” he asked, resting his head right next to yours.

You sighed happily before turning to look at him. And instead of answering, you simply peppered his cheek with kisses.

Junmyeon laughed, and you heard the soft beep of the camera turning off before he moved to pepper your cheek with kisses. A squeal escaped your lips, and Junmyeon began to transfer his kisses from your cheek to all over your face, eventually moving to hover over you.

He kissed your lips then, the atmosphere shifting from playful to tender as you moved to cradle his cheek in your palm. His lips pulled at yours slowly, and you savored the taste of his kiss, the feel of him on top of you.

Just when you were feeling the beginnings of butterflies in your stomach, Junmyeon pulled away. He went right back in for a few more quick kisses, though, and when he actually pulled away, he reached up to tuck some hair behind your ear.

“Thank you for bringing me on this trip,” you whispered.

“You’re welcome,” Junmyeon whispered back, smiling softly down at you. “Thank you for... being you. For being mine.”

“You are very welcome,” you chuckled. You pursed your lips for another kiss, and as Junmyeon obliged, you couldn’t help but feel a strong sense of anticipation brewing inside you.

You couldn’t wait to spend a whole week here with him. You couldn’t wait to relax and spend time with him and kiss some more.

A whole week.

It doesn’t seem like a long time, but remember what happened in less than a week about three months ago?

You and Junmyeon met, had a very awkward first date... and then five days later...

I’m just saying. A lot can happen in a week.

When Pranks Lead to Heartbreak

Haven’t written anything in a while, this is an old one I never posted. I’m going to try and post something happier tomorrow or I might do a follow up of this one.

I was not in a good mood when I thought of this idea lol.

Enjoy.

(Disclaimer: I don’t own anything. And all mistakes are mine.)

Chloe was smirking to herself as she looked around the house her and Beca have been living in for the past 6 months.

She was going to get Beca so good today. Her girlfriend was going to be pissed at her but she could live with that, plus the fans were practically begging for another prank video.

Ever since Beca and Chloe had created their YouTube channel 3 years ago, they had done a constant amount of pranks on each others. And as much as Chloe hated to admit it, Beca’s prank were almost always better than hers and she somehow seemed to always figure out when Chloe was pranking her.

To celebrate getting to 10 million followers, she was going to pull the cheating prank on Beca, something she knew would get a reaction out of her girlfriend of 2 years. Their channel had been more vlog focused recently seeing as Beca was being forced to travel more and more as her music career was starting to rise. She was up for a few Grammys soon and Chloe couldn’t be prouder, no matter how much she missed her tiny DJ when she was gone. Beca credited a lot of her fans to their channel because her PR team said it made her more relatable and accessible to her fans.

Chloe had been planning this prank for a few weeks now and Beca was set to get back from a 2 week long trip today and, as planned, Chloe had started to be more distant during the last week, even though it was killing the red head. Beca had pressed the red head, asking what’s wrong but Chloe kept brushing it aside and kept their conversations short so she wouldn’t ruin the prank. It worked out perfectly since Beca was extra busy in the studio the last week and didn’t have as much free time anyway.

Chloe was just finishing setting up the cameras and hiding them when she got the text from Beca that she had just got her luggage and was heading for the car that was bringing her home. Chloe’s heart hurt for a second as she thought about how she could be hugging the younger girl right now if she had picked her up, but she had to sit this one out for the sake of the prank.

She took a deep breath and smiled to herself as she looked around the living room, she had set it up to make it look like she was an emotional wreck that barely left the couch the last few days. She was wearing her baggy sweats and Beca’s old hockey sweatshirt, her comfort clothes, which she knew would set off warnings in Beca’s head.

This was going to be epic.

Estimating that she had about 15 minutes till Beca was home, she got in her place in the middle of the couch and turned on the camera that was blending in with the other electronics on the TV stand.

“Hey guys, Chloe here. As you can see I’m without my adorable other half at the moment but not for too much longer. Beca finally gets back from her 2 week trip today and she should be home in about 15 minutes. If you can’t tell I’m extremely excited”, Chloe giggled as she was practically jumping up and down in her seat, “I’m sure many of you have already noticed my look for the day and I promise I’m not actually the hot mess I look like right now. Today, by popular demand, I will be doing the cheating prank on Beca. Once Beca gets home, I’m going to bring her to the living room and say we need to talk and then I’m going to say that I went out on Saturday night with Stacie, which I actually did and Beca knows this, and while I was out I drank too much and slept with someone else. I’ve been getting more and more distant on phone over the last week so she knows that at least something is happening and I truly believe that she’s going to fall for this if my acting skills are as good as they were before. I’m going to set up a few more cameras around the bathroom and kitchen area because I know Beca and she’s likely to pace from one room to another. So wish me luck guys and I hope this turns out great. Oh, and one more thing: Beca when you watch this later on, just know I love you more than anything and I would never even be able to think about cheating on you. Love you baby.”

With that Chloe grabbed a few extra cameras and did what she said she was going to, hiding a few camera’s in the kitchen cabinets and she had to put one in the plant in the corner by the bathroom since there wasn’t any better spots for it.

With all the camera in place and running, Chloe couldn’t help the little giggle she let out, this was going to be so good and she was glad she is able to cry on demand because that’s going to come in handy right now.

Chloe made her way to the bathroom for one last touch up of her makeup to make it seem like she had been crying for days before she quickly made her way to the couch as she heard a car pulling up outside.

Hearing the car door slam she couldn’t stop the smile that took over her face for a second because God, Beca was finally home and she just missed her so much and this last week of minimal contact was literally hurting her heart.

The smile was quickly wiped off her face as she heard keys in the door and the sound of Beca opening it and struggling to get her stuff in, even without seeing her Chloe knew the mini struggle was adorable, “Honey, I’m home.”

Chloe heart leap in her chest as she saw Beca for the first time in forever as she rounded the corner, taking off her jacket and putting it up on the coat hanger while toeing off her shoes.

Okay showtime Chloe.

“Hey babe not exactly the reaction- Chlo what’s wrong? Have you been crying baby?” Beca was half way through her sarcastic comment before she looked up and saw Chloe.

Thinking about the saddest things she could, Chloe was able to speak with a voice that sounded over taken by emotions, “Hey Becs, come sit down. I need to talk to you.”

Beca immediately dropped everything she had in her and made her way to the couch, sitting close to Chloe, cupping the red head’s cheek with her hand and wiping away the fake tears that Chloe was able to produce, “Hey, hey what’s wrong my love? Is everyone in your family okay? The Bellas? Work?-”

Chloe cut off Beca because seeing her so concerned and being so loving was making it hard for Chloe not to crack, “Beca, I need to tell you something you aren’t going to like. I made a mistake.”

Beca’s eyebrows drew together and Chloe longed to smooth it out with her thumb like she normally does. The DJ at this point was very confused and sat back down with one leg hanging off the couch and the other one curled in front of her, once she was comfortable sitting she reached out and grabbed Chloe’s hand, running her thumb across the knuckle, “Hey whatever it is I’m sure we can fix it. Remember I’m sitting on a lot of money now and money has power.”

Chloe knew she had Beca right where she wants her as Beca did her typical ‘I’m uncomfortable with all my emotions right now so I’ll make a joke’, the redhead had to bite her lip and drop her chin down to her chest so that her hair covered her face. With the saddest thoughts she could think of she was able to make her voice crack emotionally, “On Saturday I went out with Stacie because I was missing you so much and I...I had felt like we were going to be driven apart by distance since you have to travel so much. And then Stacie saw how sad I was and we were doing lots of shots and these two guys came over and order us more. And- And then Stacie took one of them home. And I- I” Chloe paused to bury her head in her hands with a fake sob, “I-I cheated on you. And I’m so sorry and it will never happen again, I was just so dru-”

Beca had gone completely still at the first words that came out of Chloe’s mouth, her whole body seizing up but she cut Chloe off by harshly pulling her hand away from the redhead and jumping off the couch, tears were already gathering in her eyes, “I must of heard you wrong because it sounded like you just said that you fucking cheated on me. What the fuck Chloe?”

The tears that came to Chloe’s eye in that moment were real and were from the pain that she could hear in Beca’s voice, she reached out her hand to try and caught Beca’s hand, tears running down both of their faces by now.

Beca jumped away from the hand that was reaching for her, like it was physically trying to hurt her, “I-I can’t believe you! I trusted you! I loved you! What the fuck dude? Is that why you have been so distant recently, barely fucking talking to me? Fuck I thought I did something wrong”, at that Beca let out a very sharp laugh, “But instead it was because you were too ashamed to talk to me wasn’t it? Or was it cause you were to busy fucking someone else this whole time?!”

The older girl was stunned into silence, she had expected an emotionally reaction but she had not anticipated her girlfriend to get this mad, “Of course not! It was one time, and I was just so drunk and I missed you so much… and I can promise you it will never happen again, Beca I’m just so sorry.”

At that Chloe buried her head into her hands and start faking sobbing but was more her trying to conceal her laugh that she couldn’t hold in, Beca was going to be so mad after all of this.

“Fuck that Chloe and fuck you, that’s no reason to cheat on me, someone you claim to love. And you’re right this won’t ever happen again, cause I won’t let you even have a chance to. Fuck whoever you want I don’t care. Fuck you”, with that Beca stomped her way out of the room, heading to the kitchen, as Chloe predicted.

The red head bite her lip and gave the camera a thumbs up as she heard Beca cursing up a storm in the kitchen, she thought about getting up to go talk to Beca but then she heard the fridge slam shut and Beca storm off towards the bathroom area and seem to start pacing around.

Knowing that Beca was well outside of ear range, Chloe leaned forward towards the camera to talk, “Okay guys I think this is going great, she seems to really believe. Honestly I’m surprised that anger is her main emotion right now, she isn’t usually a super angry person. Anyway I’m going to wait for her to come back to me so we can talk in here with more cameras.”

Chloe leaned back on the couch and quickly schooled her features as she heard Beca’s footsteps coming closer, “Beca I really am so sorry and I love you more than anything in the world. Please just lets talk this out.”

Beca had visibly calmed down, Chloe could tell but now she saw a different Beca then she would expect to see right now. Beca was fiddling with her thumbs like she did when she was nervous and looked guilty, maybe she figured it out and felt bad for cursing out Chloe. Dammit she thought that she got her this time. Chloe stood up so take they were standing in front of each other and her breath caught as Beca started talking and crying again.

“Chloe I’m sorry for my reaction right now but it was just so unexpected, I’m super jetlagged and tired and, well, it really tugged at something inside of me. I haven’t been honest with you and I’m so sorry as well. I have no right to be mad because then I would just be a hypocrite”.

At Beca’s words Chloe’s heart started pounding and she was lucky the couch was right next to her because her knees gave out. She would feel panic rising within herself, it sounded a lot like Beca was implying something here.

“I cheated on you too, about 6 months ago in LA.”

With that Chloe couldn’t let the sob that exploded out of her mouth and she started sobbing as she felt her heart break. How did this turn from a prank video to this?

Why I decided to travel?

The last few months of my 2018 was really difficult for me. My 6-year relationship ended and I have no idea what to do next. I was lost and broken. I spent countless times crying in my bed and not moving at all. I have no motivation to do anything productive. I literally want to crawl under my blanket and stay there forever. Time past and oh, I have to mention that I was also in a long distance relationship for 2 years (same guy lol) so yeah, time past and I got homesick. I typed in “Philippine Travel Vlog - Steve Yalo” and it made me feel better. Seeing my beautiful country being explored by foreigners and actually appreciating it makes me feel loved also. The idea of solo traveling occurs at that point. It honestly inspired me to embrace the idea of traveling alone. I read many articles from fellow Filipinos and they seem to highly recommend it.

at this point, I don’t know how many times I’ve cried and had a mental breakdown. I remember one movie I’ve watched before, the girl who got cheated on by her fiance got temporarily blind because of the stress it caused her. It’s funny how one person can affect your life so much. I lost myself in the process of loving someone. I don’t want to experience that again. So, I promise myself this 2019... I will live according to my pace and I will love myself 100%. I’m honestly scared. I have n clue if traveling alone can help me become ME again but I’m willing to try everything. And this is one of them.

If you’re thinking to do the same thing on whatever reason you may have, I wish you all the best the world! I wish that you will find yourself. An old or better version of you.

Meet Spencer Kane!!!

I fell in love with Spencer Kane's voice when I heard his song "One Of THE Kind" on Youtube. The message of the song is simple: everyone is different, so stand out and be yourself, and don't be a bully. I recently got to interview this Kendallville, Indiana native that is a spokesperson for PACER's National Bully Prevention Center and also is just about to perform on the 2013 iShine Live tour. What's your favorite song off your new EP besides "One of THE Kind?"

Move-In The Right Direction is my favorite on the EP because even though I wrote 4 of the 5 songs on the EP, that is the one which I was most involved in creating the music and overall production. The other songs I sang and gave input, but they were more directed by the Executive Producer and Producer. I like them all, but Move In The Right Direction was almost like I was able to help assemble each piece of the song the whole way through. The others I would sing my vocals and then kind of wait for the producer to give me a rough cut with music that I could critique and just kind of wait to see what happened. MITRD was very hands-on in the studio in Nashville for me and that will always be my best memory of this EP.

What made you realize you wanted to pursue a career in music?

I believe it was when I was 13 and auditioned for a local version of an Idol competition in my county. There were like over 100 people who tried out in my age category (under 16) and I made the top 10 and actually finished 2nd place. (The video of this performance is on my Youtube channel). I sang Sunday Morning by Maroon 5 and the judges of that competition were professional artists and voice trainers. They all said I did well. So when I look back and see that someone other than family felt I may have a chance to do something with music, it sort of made it easier to choose to pursue it. But even then and until the past 6 months, I was still not sure if it was something I'd do as a hobby or pursue professionally. Once I met with iShine in Nashville and Robert Beeson (founder of Essential Records who originally signed Jars of Clay and Third Day, and like the winner of 6 Grammys and a bunch of Dove Awards) I was told I had good potential. So, I guess that made it even more clear that I should take it more seriously. I'm such a jock athlete, it's been hard to walk away from a life in sports and dream of playing at the highest levels, but right now I'm just like taking it a step at a time and hopefully this upcoming tour starting on February 15 will make the picture even more clear. LOL.

What can you expect to see in the fourth season of iShine Knect?

The show is based on a school of performing arts and students who are talented in a lot of ways. It centers around The Rubyz, Mission 6 and a few other regulars. This new season was my first and I play myself in the show (Spencer Kane). I have a few episodes where I have more speaking lines than not, but many where I am just an extra in the background. I do know we filmed me performing my entire EP on stage at a concert at TBN Studios in Nashville the beginning of December 2012. I know they will be showing me singing on some episodes. I really liked the scripts and the topics of each show and think the over 1 million kids who tune in each week will like it too.

Your song "One of THE Kind" is about bullying. You recently became a spokesperson for PACER's National Bullying Prevention Center. How did that come along?

Yes. That song was based a lot on my own personal experiences in junior high and still even now being bullied for things. But it's also about some of the sad stories I've been told by fans around the world who face bullying in their own country just like here. Some places it's worse than here, but bullying is bullying. So the song is kind of my way of telling people to reach out and be kind and talk to people who may be hurting. PACER was a site that we submitted my song to in hopes they would tweet it or at least post a link on their site of the music video since it was based on what they are all about. That kind of led to a few phone calls from them to learn more about me and after a conference call with my manager in early December along with my dad and I, we sort of agreed to move forward in them helping me with bullying prevention curriculum to share at my live performances and them having me become a national spokesman for their organization. It's quite an honor since Demi Lovato has been their primary spokesperson for the past 5 or 6 years. They work with Disney and The Ellen Show as a partner against bullying, so it's really cool to know that they believe in my message enough to want to join together in our efforts to prevent bullying.

Someone once said write what you would want to perform over and over again. With that in mind, if you could only sing one song on stage (one of your own songs and one cover song), what would it be and why?

Great question. Right now I'd have to say "Be Alright" by Justin Bieber is one that I relate to and think I can sing well in a live performance. Reason To Be from my new EP is one that I actually like to sing because I believe the producer helped me to get the best out of my vocals on that song. I think people that hear the song really connect emotionally and in a live concert, that's what you really hope for.

What does a current day in your life look like?

Haha! Well, thank goodness right at the moment it's not been as crazy as it was from June until Christmas in 2012. But the tour is coming up in February and March and I'll be on the road for nearly 5 consecutive weeks and that will probably be crazy. But I'm a full-time H.S. student and varsity basketball player. I wake up early for school at like 6:15am and have to travel like 20 miles to get there one way. I usually have practice or a game 6 days a week, so I can usually plan on being up until 10pm working on homework, home chores, or cramming whatever other free time I have into something to do with music like chatting with fans online, or rehearsing music, writing music, listening to music, filming music videos or Vlogs, or even doing interviews or performances somewhere. Most people don't know HOW I fit my life in, but we seem to manage as a family right now. I'm sure my schedule after the tour may look different.

Besides music and sports, what do you like to do for fun?

I'm an Xbox gamer. I love playing online against friends or people I don't know. I'm very competitive so I like being able to try to beat my personal best score or be able to talk smack to a friend if I can manage to beat them. I play sports games or Call of Duty. Otherwise, I'm a movie guy. My parents and I watch a lot of movies when we have the time. I have a pretty beast-man cave in my basement where my dad and I just chill, so that's fun. Sometimes I go to the mall or hang with friends, but not very often.

What does your family think of your performances and how do they support you?

Well grandma's, of course, think I'm amazing. LOL. But honestly, my aunts and uncles are pretty supportive too. My best friend is my cousin Evan who is also 16 and he and I go to the same school. He is a huge supporter of me too. But my mom and dad are probably my biggest help. Dad owns a marketing company and is a photographer and videographer. He films all my music videos and edits them. He also does all my pictures so that is a huge help. He manages my marketing stuff like album cover art, and posters, and making my website. He like takes care of a lot of the business stuff for me like contracts and stuff. Mom is my cheerleader and is always checking out the "fangirls" to make sure they aren't up to something that will hurt her little boy. LOL. But I'd say that a lot of what I do with music is because God put me in a great family. My parents always try to make sure I have time to be a kid and have as normal a life as possible. So I guess that is a huge help too.

What's the best part about working with iShine?

I think the fact that I can be the artist I want to be and don't have to meet a stereotype that people expect when you're working with a Christian media group like iShine. I mean, the first time we ever met I explained that I'm definitely a Christian and always want my music to be morally positive, but I have NO plans or call to be a "Christian Artist". Like I don't envision me making albums of praise and worship type songs. It's not who I am or how I want to make music. iShine owners and management said they appreciated my sincerity and honesty and that it made them even more supportive of working with me. They believe my music will reach a broad group of young people who may or may not be Christians and that, I guess, is a good thing for them. So, they have been amazingly helpful in developing me and teaching me about the music industry. They let me work with Jeff Savage (Tobymac's Grammy Winning producer from the album Momentum and Diverse City and the writer of Irene and J Train). That alone was amazing to know I was working with him. He's awesome. He produced One of the Kind, 413 and Blue Sky from my new EP. So just working with him and then working with Zach Hall (producer of Newsboys "God is Not Dead" album) was also amazing. So I just think our goal in 2012 was to be able to work with professional and experienced producers who could help my music get to the next level, and iShine has definitely helped me to do that.

If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would you play and why?

I think anywhere in a huge venue with like 100,000 fans would be incredible. Even like 20,000 fans would be insane. I think the location isn't as important as knowing I would be able to perform for people who really wanted to see me perform. That's going to always be my goal. I love making music videos and seeing people like them on Youtube, but performing live in front of a huge audience would be fantastic.

Oak City Skate Shop opened their doors a little over 6 years on September 1st, 2012. Oak City is the brainchild of 30-year-old Raleigh, North Carlonia native Long Tonthat. For the past 22-years Long has had skates strapped to his feet, begin with the skating rink and then graduating to aggressive skating when he turned 14-yeards-old. That is when his love of blading took a hold of him and he has looked back since.

How did Oak City start?

My girlfriend (now wife) and I were working high-pressure sales jobs and even though I was financially stable, I just wasn’t happy. I had minor success in selling items that I had no interest in. I had developed strong personal skills and had come from a family of small business owners. Skating has always been strong in North Carolina and I felt like it was something the state needed. So we started to save and make plans to open a skate shop.

Did you start selling online before opening a storefront?

2012 was a much different time in skating, I was required to have a physical building before any vendor would speak to me. A lot of the obstacles that came with starting the shop were with getting the building. Since then I’ve noticed that companies have become much more lax.

How have you managed to adapt with the time and stay business when so many other retailers have shut down?

A living business plan is key, I’ve found that my initial plan just wouldn’t work today. Trends and competition change, so it’s important to keep sharp and always adjusting. My wife works a full time office job and I do a few side jobs when I can, to make ends meet.

Also, I had help. I’ll be the first to admit that I didn’t make it here on my own, and that there are many unnamed and unmentioned heroes that held me up when I was at my lowest. I appreciate that.

How has Big Wheel Blading and Tri-skates changed the landscape ofyour store and skating in general?

It’s been a big eye opener for me, at the beginning of the shop’s life I wasn’t interested in carrying 4×80 inline skates but the Tri-skates and 4×90+ have really reshapes the image of skating. The glide on Tri-skates is unmatched and is the closest thing to riding on clouds. They are pretty incredible and coming from a mostly aggressive background, it’s infrequent to be excited about just skating but Tri-skates are something else. Also for the beginners, cracks and debris are way less of a concern. I could talk about it all day!

Have you noticed any significant change in the numbers of people participating in recreational skating vs. aggressive skating in the US in the past decade?

I think it’s starting to really balance out. I see as many fitness skaters on the trails as I do at the park but I see the aggressive guys more often. Fitness cats are wheels and bearing purchases every once in awhile, aggressive skaters are just harder on equipment.

How important was picking your location to the success of the business?

Location was pretty big, I was first right off the highway and it was really convenient for travelers. I wanted people to come often, so I wanted it to be easy for them. If I could start over again I would get a sick spot downtown, but it’s just expensive now that Raleigh has grown.

Does your shop offer skate lessons?

I offer lessons but for insurance costs and registration purposes I chose to offer them personally and not through the shop. It’s not something I can do often, with my son being so young and me being the primary caretaker, but I’d like to do more.

You did your SkateIA certification in NYC with Trish Alexander. How was that? Did you learn anything?

Yes, SkateIA was great! Cameron Card and I coordinated our trip and I’ll say that it was pretty amazing as I’ve always been a fan of his. I got to see a lot of the city, I didn’t learn a lot of techniques as the skating is pretty basic, but more importantly I learned how to EFFECTIVELY and SAFELY teach Inline skating.

Do you recommend that people should get Skate IA certified? If so why?

100 percent, level 1 would be great and by being SkateIA certified you have the opportunity to be covered by their insurance (huge benefit). I certainly plan to continue getting more certifications and hope that one day I can teach and certify skate instructors.

What can people do in their hometowns to promote inline skating?

Skate fast, like a bat out of hell

Skate for fun and not for others’ approval

Be engaging; positive comments should always be followed up by an invitation. I always try to thank people for the recognition and encourage them to try.

Fewer headphones, I understand that a lot of people get in the zone with music but you miss a lot of opportunities to engage and converse with others.

Start a local group using a preferred social media

Poach scooters and skate boarders, a lot of those individuals will pick up a pair of skates and have almost all the abilities need to skate a park effectively. The skills and concepts transfer over pretty well and I would always encourage any of them that even show the smallest inclination towards inline skating.

Do you do most of your sales online or in store?

It’s about even, the in store sales aren’t as frequent but are usually higher ticket items like skates. Online sales are mostly smaller goods.

What other countries to you sell to?

It’s really hard to sell outside of North America, in almost every other part of the world Inline skating is popular, so stores are abundant and they don’t have the same struggles I have. I do ship to our neighbors to the north and south but it’s rare that I’ll mail anything to Europe or Asia. There are already a handful of bigger shops on both continents and with shipping costs it’s just a game that can’t be won.

What do you think would help skating in general be more successful?

It’s hard to say, but I think the most positive thing we can do is just continue to have as much fun as possible on Inline skates and encourage the youth.

Would you ever consider carrying speed skating products?

I have a few items now, mostly RB and Powerslide. It’s always been something I had one or two pair of but I just recently started carrying a few more models on a regular basis.

What sets your store apart from others?

I try to have the best understanding of all the products available and offer modification services. I also try and carry items that the bigger retailers don’t want to carry such as Borklyn Zoo, Blade Club, Muzzle etc.

What achievement are you the most proud of?

Helping Jon Julio with the first Them shipment was pretty sick, being there was a height in my career and it’s something I think about to raise my spirits when I’m blue.

I also just recently got done working with Cameron Card on “What Year Is It?” We were able to get almost 300 skaters in attendance at Woodward East in Pennsylvania. That was something else, so many peoples’ dreams were made reality that weekend and that was truly special.

Yes, it will take place on September 20th, 2019. The dates are already set, we are just working on the rates. We would love to have you there! Plus we do a 10k every morning.

Are there any skating Vlogs you follow on YouTube?

Ah, that’s one thing I fall short on right now, I tune into Back to Blading or Jump Street Podcast. Besides that I maybe watch a few speed and freeskate technique videos, but nothing habitual.

Yes, we sponsor Philip Moore! We have been homies since the year I opened, our friend Lorenzo introduced us and it’s been rad friendship ever since. Jon Cooley and I have been friends since before the shop and has been my main traveling companion to comps and events, we are like-minded and share a similar work ethic. So it’s just natural that we’d work together with him and Mikey Holmes on Apex. And, Montre Livingston, who I’ve known since we were teenagers. He’s a great guy to work with. I have other guys that I give products to, but these guys are close to me and I see them or they check in regularly.

Do you watch or keep up with any non-aggressive skating on social media?

I enjoy following Danny Aldridge (@dannyaldridge1111). I don’t follow many, but he’s one of my favorite overall skaters. Speed not so much, but for distance skating I really like Caleb Smith (@kaleboston). He is skating 200-miles in one day, how sick is that! For slalom I usually just watch edits on YouTube. Half the enjoyment of slalom for me is how cinematic some of the edits are.

There aren’t many distributors left in the United States, are there brands out there that are difficult or impossible to order?

Yes, Adapt products are really sought after, but the production costs and time makes them unavailable to me. USD, Kizer and MyFit are also super tough because we have to order it all from Europe.

Do you think the US could handle more skate shops, or is competition between the hand full of shops already to tight?

It’s tight for sure. A little less dependence on the big online retailers would be necessary but that’s unrealistic. I know it’s harsh but in the grand scheme of things, local small businesses are the most likely entity to create skaters.

It blows my mind how a city like NYC with 8.6 million people doesn’t have a skate shop. Do you think the lack of brick and mortar skate shops and readily available skate products in major cities is a contributing factor to the decline in skaters?

100 percent! I think today the only type of businesses that can make it in that setting, is high volume keystone profit businesses. The building rent alone in most cities would be a huge burden.

Have you ever had a period where you thought you might not make it?

Ha, every month I skirt by. When money is tight, I just eat less and work more. I’ll be in the hole every now and again, but If I have it my way, it’s never going to stop.

What was the most successful period for you?

There was a time where I was the only shop offering Valo toe cutting and was really making some radical customs. I think people really love the fact that we had such a variety of parts with available combinations and I was never shy about building exactly what someone wanted.

Is there a significant amount of aggressive skaters are switching over to bigger wheel frame set-ups?

There’s been an increase in big wheel flat rocker for sure. The attention to detail is higher than ever and the excitement over specifications is real. I think we gradually have been moving this way for a while. I remember when 58mm Anti was the trend and 60mm wheels came out as the fast option, I was always in pursuit of a fast but grindable option.

Do you think inline retailers need to sell items outside of inline skating to stay afloat?

I don’t sell anything but inline skate products and I struggle from time to time. I could never be genuinely excited about those products and if I cared about money I’d go back to high-pressure sales. No disrespect to the other shops that carry other items, it’s just not me. The margins are super slim in skating and it’s no doubt businesses that carry these low margin items exclusively have tough times staying open but I’m ok with that struggle.

How is the aggressive scene in the Raleigh area?

It’s got tons to skate, from the shop there’s 7 skate parks within a 30-minute drive, one park being 5-minutes away. We’ve got a lot of skaters in the surrounding areas, so they drive in for a day and we usually do something that appeases the group.

What are your best selling products?

It’s hard to say and I think that’s the hardest part, everyone wants something different so it’s usually a game of getting a little of everything. I’d say that companies are really into direct sales more these days and that really inhibits any product from being popular in store. For example, Creates use to be super popular but since they are now direct I rarely sell them.

How many rec/freestyle skates do you sell compared to aggressive?

I sell a lot more aggressive but 90 percent of my stock and most of my interest is in aggressive so that could be skewed. I’d like to balance that out more as time passes.

Where do you see Oak City in the future?

Hopefully in a radical downtown storefront, with a partnered skate park next door. I think when business work off each other the success could be limitless.

What are you current personal setups?

I’m currently skating on a pair of Rollerblade Metroblade 4x80mm for urban skating and on the Them Darst Skates with 50/50s and Apex wheels. I’m hoping to get some Powerslide Trinity Mount 3×125 Swells soon.

Hello tumblr! How are you people?

Yap, it is so long after my last posts in tumblr and I know how not consistent I am to write things in this platform. I of course have some explanation which turns out to be an excuse. Well, life is so tough lately. I have to juggle with the last theory semester that is so exhausted and taking so many energy and time and money from me, then the last term of my organization year that I want to make it the best so again I spend so much time and energy there, and the luxury time I want to spend by myself—hangout alone, have me time, watch tv series, read some books, daydream all the time, and sleep too much. So yeah, having not so much time back then but so happy to finally comeback!

There are also some triggers actually that make me want to write again. The first one is of course my desire to babble much in the platform that no one care and know about me. The second one is the luxury time I have because it is finally holiday yaaay! So I am back at home right now, not having so many things to do unless hangout with high school mates and do some family gathering, and not having responsible to deal with, and not even have a real life! Third one, is because someone from the past suddenly come back to my life and asking like you still write? I miss your stories though. No, I don’t write because of him, but his question reminds me how I used to write so much and love it. The last one is I currently watch a vlog in youtube and she is talking about doing some journaling and let your thoughts come up, and again it reminds me about how I used to suit in front of my tumblr page and write all the things that pop up in my mind. The triggers actually come like a month ago since I am home, but because of my laziness and the lack of fast and free internet here (God, I need fast internet!) I finally can do it and hopefully I can be that consistent, please help me!

So to begin my comeback (are you a K-PoP Idol group?) I will write about the random things that happened during my absent time in tumblr. Here we go!

1. I am finally home! After a tough semester and so many responsible I have to do, I finally can take a break and take a breath. So happy to be home, because you don’t have to worry about the real life or the future, about the money you’ve spend because free food and water will always be there, about the people that judge and want to hurt you because you can no longer see them, about the loneliness you feel when you are lying in your dorm alone or when you strolling around the city alone, because you are finally safe and sound.

2. I meet so many people here. From my family, big families, high school best friends, high school mates, some teachers that so close to me, some seniors that also close to me, until someone from the past. What I actually can learn is everyone is growing up even me somehow. We still talk about the silly and funny and stupid things we did back then, but we also talk about the future that waiting for us. Like with my best friends and high school mates, we remember the memories we share in the old days, like some silly jokes about everyone, or some sweet moments we have, or the friends and the teachers that really cannot be forgotten, or even the mean things we do. But in the middle of that conversation we are talking about how are our thesis or what to do after graduation or where are you work right now, we are talking about the consequences about the problems we face and how we deal with the real life, that is scary and tough. We are all growing up but I am so happy that some parts of us are still the same little souls who always want to be the best version of ourselves.

3. Last semester of theory is finally over! After so many seminars, and simulations, and negotiations, and endless papers and assignments, finally sixth semester is done! That was the very tough semester in my college life. I sometimes want to give up on so many lessons but thankfully there were Ilak, Kiki, Rachel who always motivate me and cheer me up. The scores are not yet presented, but so far I am happy with the results. Because my almost not sleep night and my working the assignments together afternoon is paid. Well next level of tough is KKN and skripsi life, brace yourself!

4. I watch so many tv series and fall in love with sense8, you guys have to watch it. It is about 8 people in different countries that can connect to each other, like really understand if one of them feel sad or happy, and they have to fight some group that want to kill them. And the season 2 is so freaking cool, but here comes the very things I hate. Netflix decides to cancel this show because of numbers. And what I want to do is screaming and saying wtf so much, because I really need to know where is Wolfgang, and how they fight the BPO, and what how is the ending, because all of them really deserve a happy endings after they try to be strong together (please watch the show to understand my babbling!). But, after the whole cluster in the whole world asked Netflix to continue it and we do some petitions, finally they’re gonna make the final-two-hours-of-sense8. Only two hours but it can change someone’s life, I bet! So yeah #sense8forever

5. I am thinking to make some content (are you a youtuber) that called Saturday Conversation. So every two weeks on Saturday I will go somewhere probably a café or a hangout place by myself and just sit, eat nice food, do some people watching, or read books, and having a conversation with myself. It could be about anything, about how I feel, what I think about life, things that makes me happy or sad or afraid, the books I currently read or the tv series I currently watch, or anything that come up in my mind. Hopefully I can be the consistent person I wish to be. And I also want to write consistently in tumblr because I still remember how much I love talking to myself in this platform by writing it.

6. I just finished watching The Flash season 2 after a very long time and Scandal season 1 after a not so really long time. Currently I am in the middle of my journey to finish Riverdale, 13 Reasons Why, The Americans, Quantico Season 2, 11.22.63, and so many tv series that waiting to be watch in my hard disk. And I currently read Garis Batas from Agustinus Wibowo, after finishing Simon vs. Homo Sapiens Agenda and Matahari from Tere Liye. I know no one care but hey I just want to share! Oh one more, I am currently in love with some youtubers that is so inspiring I can’t stop myself to watch their video, you guys should check Doddie Clark, Lucy Moon, and Lavendaire! They are basically talking about how to be honest with your own selves, to have self-loving, to embrace all the strengths and weaknesses you have in your life, to live in the moment and be a true human being, and to live your life to the fullest. Please, please watch their video to have a very very very bright insight to really live the life you love!

7. In love with Nicole Zefanya – Anaheim, Doddie Clark – Would You Be So Kind, and The Matter Halo ft. Nadin – Teralih! Please listen to all of them! Btw, speaking about Nicole Zefanya, she just launches a song called See U Never with a nickname NIKI. The song is kind r&b and hiphop, well I don’t really know the genre and the song is good but I obviously love her originals more. It is a big opportunity for her and maybe because she is still young she still wants to experiment a lot and maybe we may not hear her originals much at least not in near time. And I am so so so sad about it, because I just love her originals. Because she is so authentic with her clinginess, and the teenage high school behavior, and all the inspiring lyrics she writes that speak to me and hit me hard and so true and honest, and her piano or guitar’s melody that are so eargasm. I am gonna miss it so much. Whatever the path she chooses, I hope her little soul always walks her home.

8. Still have so many things to do in hometown; like going to the beach and enjoy the atmosphere until sun set or swimming in the beach from morning till noon, eating so much food that I can only find here, having a me time in a fast-food restaurant and going karaoke alone, hanging out to a new place with friends and family, reading books in the park on a cloudy afternoon, having a road trip or family vacation to Sabang, going to so many public place to think about my future (wahahah, the old semester students kinda behavior), and many more!

9. I have so many bucket list currently that I really hope I brave enough to literally make it real. I want to watch musical in Jakarta and join some conferences anytime soon, then I will do KKN, and hopefully do exchange, and some internship in the place I really want. Besides that I also want to travel to some city like Bandung and Karimun Jawa and I want to arrange some trip after graduating (so please graduate as much as you can!) in some neighbor countries. Hopefully I am brave enough to embrace all my plans and have so many savings due to the plans. May the force be with me!

10. Like I mention in some part of this writing, I feel like everyone is growing up including me. In the beginning of sixth semester if everyone asking about my planning to graduate or what kind of thesis I will write, I literally look at them weirdly and say things like, dude 6th semester not even finish and you already ask me that kind of question, and of course I don’t think about it yet because I don’t really want to graduate that fast. Actually why I said that because I am so freaking afraid what to do after graduating, because I have no idea what is my ability or passion that I literally can use for the real life and I literally don’t know what I have to do to have a bright future or to face this hard and tough life. But after going home and having some deep thoughts with friends and mom and dad, I kinda have hope. Like, I start to set goal about my graduation and my thesis kinda things, although still don’t know what to write as judul skripsi, help me ya Allah. I start knowing that dad is getting older also will retire soon, so I have to stop being a burden to mom and dad and I have to have a job before dad finally retire. The closest things I can do to at least have a job is graduating. So yeah, I have to graduate next year. It is also because of the invisible competition I have with my older sister, since she just graduates this year, I have to prove to my parents that next year I can also make them proud. Wish me luck please!

Well, that is all random things that come up in my mind during my absent time in tumblr. I know it is only 10 numbers but I don’t know why it can be that long! Over the next several months... you were kind of waiting for something bad to happen.

Things had just gone too well for you and Junmyeon, so surely some sort of complication would come along.

I mean, save for your almost disastrous first date, the very beginnings of your relationship went smoothly. Your feelings for each other had developed quickly and steadily, and your first kiss had gone off without a hitch. So had your first time sleeping in the same bed, your first time going on vacation together, and your first time... doing more than sleeping in the same bed.

And after declaring your love for each other, the two of you were happier than you’d ever been. Whenever Junmyeon wasn’t traveling, you were practically attached at the hip. He knew everything about you, and you knew everything about him. His kisses still made your heart flutter, and he still believed you to be an absolute angel.

You were just too happy!

But, alas, as you were nearing the first-year mark of your relationship... nothing bad did happen.

Something big happened, though.

But not to you.

Junmyeon had just arrived back a few hours ago from a trip to Japan (one which you had desperately wanted to go on, by the way), so the two of you were currently snuggled in your bed -- even though it was only seven in the evening. Your boyfriend had been gone for a whopping twelve days, so you were going to snuggle him whenever you pleased, okay?

Your phone chirped on your nightstand, interrupting your murmured conversation about the breathtaking sights of the Japanese towns he’d visited, and you reached over him to pick it up.

The notification told you there was a message from Trish, so you slid your finger across the screen immediately to open it.

And when you did, you let out a very loud, very excited gasp.

Because her message was a picture.

A picture of her left hand with an incredibly gorgeous ring resting on her third finger.

“What?” Junmyeon asked, scooting closer to you so he could try and see your screen. “What is --”

“They’re engaged!” you squealed.

“What? Who?”

“Trish and Jongdae!” You held out your phone so he could see the picture, your eyes dancing with excitement and your smile sparkling like sun-drenched waters. “They’re getting married!”

“Oh, wow!” Junmyeon grinned, letting out a very pleased chuckle. And then his phone went off with a notification.

As he reached for it, you replied to Trish’s message with a large number of nonsensical words and letters followed by what seemed to be endless exclamation marks.

“I got one, too,” Junmyeon said excitedly, showing you his phone. Jongdae had sent him a selfie of him and Trish, her left hand held up to showcase the engagement ring.

“Look at how happy they look!” you cried, your brow furrowed as you placed your head in the crook of Junmyeon’s neck. “Oh, I’m so excited for them!”

“I’m also kind of relieved,” Junmyeon admitted, typing back a ‘congrats my dude’ to Jongdae.

You knew Junmyeon loved and valued Jongdae as a friend the very same amount as you loved and valued Trish. So, why were your responses to this news so entirely different?

You would probably never fully understand the male species.

“Relieved? Why?”

“Because they introduced us,” he explained. “If they had broken up, it would’ve been pretty awkward since we’re still together.”

“Ah, yes,” you sighed, curling more against Junmyeon’s chest as he set his phone down. “That’s true.”

He pressed a kiss to your forehead as he slid an arm around you, pulling you even closer. “And I plan on staying together,” he murmured.

Your smile grew wider at his words, and a very contented sigh escaped through your curved lips.

You weren’t sure why you were surprised when Trish asked if you and Junmyeon were free for a double date just a few days after announcing their engagement. The four of you had gone out together numerous times in the past almost-year, so it was only logical that you all celebrate their amazing news.

As per your boyfriend’s request, the two of you arrived at the restaurant a bit early; Junmyeon wanted to take some pictures for his Instagram and, as usual, you had agreed to take them for him.

Ever since your vacation together, you had become Junmyeon’s unofficial photographer. He really didn’t even have to ask anymore -- it was just a formality at this point. You sometimes even suggested taking a picture, holding out your palm for his phone and pointing out what would make a nice background or something that fit his feed’s theme.

“Just lift your chin a little more,” you instructed, your brow furrowed as you studied his phone screen. He was standing in front of the restaurant with your phone in his hand, pretending like he was busy sending a message or reading something. He tipped his chin up the tiniest bit, but it was enough to make a difference. “Yes, perfect.”

Junmyeon, ever the model, tweaked his poses ever so slightly while you snapped as many pictures as you could, crouching down on the sidewalk to get some different angles.

You’d been doing this for months now; you were more than used to looking like an idiot for a few seconds because the end product was always worth it. Junmyeon’s Instagram was poppin’, and he was overly grateful that he didn’t have to use a tripod and the self-timer function anymore.

“What are you doing?” you heard Trish’s cheerful voice ask as you were standing back up.

Your gaze shifted to see your friend approaching you with a very confused grin -- a very confused but very happy grin.

“Instagram,” you explained with a small shrug.

Junmyeon jogged over to join you and threw an arm around your shoulder. “You didn’t mention she’s the perfect Instagram Wife when you told me about her,” he said.

“Instagram Wife, you say?” Trish repeated with a smirk. “I thought we were the ones getting married here...?”

“Come on, let’s go eat,” you chuckled, feeling your cheeks warming. Junmyeon kissed one of those warm cheeks as you turned and headed into the restaurant, Trish and Jongdae following behind you.

Once the four of you were seated and had ordered your drinks and meals, Trish laid her hands on the table and raised her eyebrows across the table at you and Junmyeon.

“So,” she began, very obviously trying to hold back a smile. “We have something we want to ask you guys.”

“You want us to be your Instagram Wives,” Junmyeon answered without missing a beat.

“Sorry, I’m taken already,” you shrugged.

“No!” Trish giggled, rolling her eyes at the two of you. And then she nudged her husband-to-be with her elbow. “You go first.”

“No, you,” Jongdae replied with a slight whine.

“Well,” Trish continued, reaching over and putting her hand on top of yours. “I want you to be my maid of honor.”

“And I was hoping you would be my best man,” Jongdae added to Junmyeon.

Your eyes immediately filled with the happiest of tears, and you squeezed Trish’s hand. “Of course!”

Oh my god, how perfect! You were the maid of honor, and Junmyeon was the best man?!

“When are you guys getting married?” you asked excitedly. Because you weren’t sure how long you could wait!

“Hey, I have an idea,” Junmyeon said as the two of you walked down the sidewalk after dinner that night. His hands were stuffed in the pockets of his jeans, and you were clinging to his arm, walking as closely as you could without knocking him over.

“Oh yeah? What idea?” you asked softly.

“I want to make a wedding vlog for Trish and Jongdae,” he answered. “And show it at their reception. I mean, we’ll probably have to give toasts since we’re the most important members of the bridal party --”

You let out a quiet giggle and nudged your boyfriend’s side.

“-- So, why not just do one together and show a video?”

“That’s actually a really good idea,” you replied with a nod. “We can also do little segments where we talk about them. Like giving a toast but on film instead of in person.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. And we can cut away to a voiceover so we’re talking about them while showing clips of them or clips of us with them.”

“Junmyeon!” you cried, squeezing his arm. “I think you’re a vlog genius, that sounds amazing.”

“So, you’ll help?” he asked as he raised his eyebrows over at you.

“Of course, I will! I mean, I’ll help film and stuff. You can do all the editing.”

After your vacation together all those months ago, you’d worked up the nerve to ask him if he would show you how he edits his videos -- which he gladly did. But even after watching him edit a few clips, you still had no idea how he made it so much fun to watch. It was a lot more work than you’d realized!

But, speaking of, you now felt like watching those vacation vlogs when you got home. Junmyeon had uploaded them as unlisted to his channel, and you were the only one to whom he’d given the links. You had told yourself you would take your time watching them, wanting to stretch it out and make them last... but you had binged them as soon as he’d uploaded them all. And you’d watched them about fifteen times each.

Junmyeon had also talked about you more and more in his other vlogs, though you still had yet to go on a work trip with him and actually make an appearance in them. But, you were slowly getting more comfortable with the idea of showing your face. Especially since there were always more than a few comments about it on his videos. Nothing mean or nasty, thankfully, which was why you were warming up to the idea.

“So, we should probably get started, like... tomorrow,” he suggested as the two of you reached the subway station.

“That’s perfect,” you agreed. “Trish invited me to go dress shopping, so just give me your camera, and I’ll get to it.”

Junmyeon let out a very satisfied sigh as you descended the stairs down to the train, and you squeezed his arm curiously.

“What?” you murmured.

“What?” he replied.

“What was that sigh?”

“Oh! I’m just -- I’m happy,” he answered.

“Me, too,” you grinned. “I’m so happy for them.”

“Well, yeah, I’m happy for them. But I meant I’m happy.” Junmyeon took his hand out of his pocket, reaching for your fingers and linking them with his. “I have the perfect Instagram Wife girlfriend who is now turning into the perfect Vlog Wife girlfriend.”

“Oh, be quiet,” you chuckled, rolling your eyes. You slid both of your subway cards out of your pocket and scanned them, pushing through the turnstile. Junmyeon didn’t let go of your hand, and once you were on the platform waiting for the train, he stood behind you. He placed his chin on your shoulder and spoke softly into your ear.

“I don’t mean it in a way like, that’s all you’re good for,” he began. But before you could retort with anything, he continued. “Of course, not. And I know you know that. But I mean it like... I wasn’t really sure if I could ever find someone who would be at least okay with what I do. You like your privacy, yes, but you’re still so supportive of my career. You take all my pictures for me, and you don’t complain. You go along with my vlogging, you’re interested in how I edit everything, you actually watch my videos. It may sound kinda weird, but just... I’m really thankful for that. For you.”

You would have to scold him when you got home for making you blush (and almost tear up) in public like this, but for right now... you simply turned your head and kissed his cheek.

“I love you,” you said, and you said it in a way that made it seem like that was all the explanation you needed. Because it was. You supported him like you did because you loved him. Simple as that.

You knew how important traveling was to Junmyeon, and even though it meant he wasn’t by your side half the time, you would never stop supporting him. You would never stop taking his Instagram pictures, you would never stop watching his videos, you would never stop reminding him to film or asking him about editing or anything which would even remotely hint that you wanted him to stop. Because if he did stop, he wouldn’t be happy. What kind of partner would you be if you asked him to give up what truly made him happy?

“I love you, too,” he whispered.

As the train pulled into the station and the two of you stepped closer so you could board, you leaned in, wanting to make sure Junmyeon heard you. “I will gladly be your Instagram Wife for as long as I live.”

You glanced at him then, and you were extremely glad you did because... the smile on his face right now. You were pretty sure that smile was what made the world keep turning every day.

Or, at least, your world.

“Wait, but I’m really excited for this video,” Trish declared, beaming across the table at you.

She had invited you out for lunch after trying on some dresses at a local boutique, and you had been more than eager for some Girls Only bonding time.

When you’d arrived at the boutique earlier with Junmyeon’s camera in hand, Trish had been so adorably confused. But when you’d explained about the idea your boyfriend had come up with last night, she had immediately agreed that it was pretty genius.

You had filmed some before you left your house, introducing the vlog as Junmyeon always did. Apparently, you had learned a thing or two from him over the course of a year. And you’d pretty much kept the camera rolling as Trish had tried on a select few dresses.

But now you were focusing on your friendship, so the camera was tucked away safely in your purse.

“Me, too!” you cried softly. “It’s going to be so much fun to watch! And Junmyeon does such a good job with editing, I can’t wait to see how it’s going to turn out.”

“Okay, but speaking of you and Junmyeon... it’s going well, right?”

You immediately blushed, feeling a very idiotic grin threatening to appear on your lips.

“Yeah,” you replied with a shrug, trying to sound as casual as possible. “It’s going well.”

“I’m not going to lie,” Trish began, folding her arms on top of the table. “There was a tiny part of me that was worried about him traveling and being gone so much, but as soon as I met him... I knew there was no way I couldn’t introduce you guys.”

“He’s kind of perfect for me, isn’t he?” you chuckled. “And, yeah, he’s gone quite a bit, and I miss him like crazy when he is... but I like the alone time. And it gives me plenty of time to focus on my writing, so everything just works out.”

You spent quite a lot of time writing, actually, and that wasn’t just because it was your job. When Junmyeon was away, you wrote for your book. When he was home, you wrote his letters.

Even after all this time, you still wrote Junmyeon letters for him to take on his trips. He had only requested them that very first time when he had brought you back that pen (the first of many pens, by the way), but you had continued to write them. You would slip the envelopes into his carry-on when he wasn’t looking, and one time, you found them all in a box in his closet.

To be honest... if you were an outsider, you and Junmyeon would probably make you want to throw up because you were so cute.

“How’s your book going, by the way?” Trish asked, her brow furrowing gently.

“Oh, god, I’ve barely started,” you told her with a somewhat exasperated sigh.

The book you’d been writing when you’d first met Junmyeon had just recently been published, and you were now starting on the sequel. At this point, you weren’t sure the first one was selling well enough to merit a sequel, but you’d been planning on a trilogy since the beginning, so your agent had given you the go-ahead.

“Well, you know I adored the first one, so the second one will be just as amazing,” Trish assured you.

“Also amazing? Your dress,” you grinned. She hadn’t picked one out today, but a couple of them had caught her eye. “No matter which one you pick, you’re going to look so stunning. Jongdae will start bawling his eyes out when he sees you coming down that aisle.”

“Wait, but you do realize that you and Junmyeon will be walking down the aisle together, right? As maid of honor and best man.”

“Well, yeah,” you shrugged, though you could feel your cheeks getting just a bit warm.

“So?! Don’t you think it’ll be good practice?!” Trish urged, her smile playful and teasing. But you knew she was deadly serious.

“Trish! You are the one getting married here,” you pointed out.

“Yeah, right now. I’m just saying... I won’t be surprised if you’re not too far behind...”

You tried to brush it off, reminding Trish she needed to stay focused on planning her own wedding (to which she replied: “I’ve been planning my wedding for years, I barely even need to do anything now that it’s actually here”). There was no need or reason to even think about yours.

...Or was there?

What if Junmyeon was planning on proposing?

Oh, god. Now you wouldn’t be able to think about anything else.

So he definitely deserved this big win in my opinion. Seeing an opportunity and seizing it. Someone in my mastermind group actually saw another podcast he was on. Goes into detail his research and sourcing and niche selection process and launch story, and they were actually UNIQUE glasses. For example he contacted over 200 suppliers in China...
