Even though she was never a series regular, Carrie Preston became a fan favorite on The Good Wife with her occasionally recurring character, Elsbeth Tascioni. In fact, her appearances on the show earned her a pair of Primetime Emmy nominations as a guest actor, and she won the award in 2013. After The Good Wife signed off, Preston reprised the role on the first Good Wife spinoff series, The Good Fight. Now, Preston's character is getting her own spinoff series, Elsbeth. While The Good Wife and The Good Fight were dramas with some comedic elements, Elsbeth is more of a comedy with dramatic undercurrents. It's created and produced by the same team that created the previous series, Robert and Michelle King, and Preston says she's grateful to be given the chance to expand the role beyond the guest shots she'd previously gotten.
Elsbeth airs Thursdays at 10/9c on CBS, and episodes start streaming the following day on Paramount+.

So I've been trying to puzzle this out for a while, and I think I'm close to finally having a design I like for a Sonic styled persona. I wanna get something a little more finished done, but I really like this sketch, so I'm sharing it! She's a long-tailed bat, partially because I'm known for voicing Rouge in fan projects, but it's also because I genuinely like bats. Like, bats are cool! Also I want wings, if I'm gonna represent myself in a cool alternate universe, I wanna be able to fly darn it! And have fangs, fangs are cool as heck. I'm just jazzed I finally have something that feels comfortable, it's a really good feeling!

My Neighbor Is a Vampire- Part 1
Want to read more, visit my Masterlist!
Saturday, May 27- First day at my new place! The shower works, I have an oven AND all the windows are not broken and can open and close. So far, I'm loving this place. Plus, I only have one neighbor. ONE! No sign of them yet, but hopefully they won't be too noisy. -L.R
"It's been a week, and you haven't met them yet? My best friend Jenn asked, leaning against the kitchen counter.
"Nope. No noise during the day but at night the occasional noise is heard.
"Weird." She rolled an apple back and forth. "Why only at night?"
I grabbed the apple mid roll and took a bite. "I don't know. Maybe they have a nighttime job? I'm just glad they're quiet, unlike my last neighbors. Come on, let's go. I have work in a few."
"Another glorious day at the library."
"Shush, you should be glad I got you a job there."
"Yeah, pushing books."
"It's better than nothing." I shrugged, locking the door behind us.
"I think the only reason you hired me is because I can give you a ride." She scoffed.
--
The only bad thing about the apartment was the steps. They had an elevator but since I've moved in four months ago, it's out of order sign has yet to be moved. Reaching the last few steps, my eyes graced the back of a man's head as he closed the door besides mine.
His broad shoulders stretched across his tight grey dress shirt; the sleeves rolled up to his elbows exposing his muscular, veiny forearms. His black pants showed off his long legs and rounded his butt nicely, my face heating up as I caught myself staring.
I didn't realize I had stopped at the last step until my eyes landed back up to his face which was now looking at me a few feet away. His face was as pretty as his body. His head full with black hair that had a slight curl to it at the ends which lightly hung in his face. His eyes a striking grey blue which were only enhanced by his sharp cheekbones and chiseled jaw.
"Are you okay?" His voice deep, with a slight English accent.
This man was a god.
And here I was staring at him, my mouth unable to form words.
"Are you okay?" He asked, taking a step closer to me.
"Uh- um... yes." Which I guess was the only words my brain could process to say. I cleared my throat, pulling my gaze away to my front door, as I motioned to the doors behind us. "Um, do you live next door?"
He looked back and gave a crooked smile when his gaze returned to my face. My heart I could feel picking up speed. "I'm guessing you're the new neighbor?"
"Yes. Yes, I am. I'm Lilly." I stretched my hand out for a handshake.
"What a beautiful name." He took my hand in his large, cool hands. "I'm Aster. It's a pleasure to meet you." He smiled that crooked smile at me, as he bent down and brushed his lips against my hand. "I'll see you around, Lilly."
His hand left mine, the warmth flooding back as I watched him bound down the steps, the feeling of his lips never leaving my hand the entire night.
--
I didn't see Aster in the following days. It wasn't like I was trying to search for him, because I wasn't, but my eyes would look at his door when I came to and from work or my head would perk up if I heard a noise coming from next door.
I can see that this sounds creepy, but I couldn't help it. My brain would just tune in without me wanting it to. The god of a man living next door occupied my thoughts day and night. I found myself leaning towards the romance section more at work, my nights occupied more romantic k-dramas and my dreams had his perfect face in it.
I wasn't a popular girl and have only had one boyfriend which was back in high school. It was probably a result of my winning personality. Nose in a book, only having one friend since elementary school, straight a's, a constant perfect attendance and always home by 8pm every night. A perfect loner. And my job being a librarian always wasn't an award-winning job that would make a guy want to get into your pants either.
Being a bit bigger than curvy I suppose didn't help either. One of the reasons I lost my one boyfriend. But hey, his loss.
I grabbed a bottle of wine and headed to my window seat. The fake fireplace entertainment stand was flicking away as one of the only sources of light besides the few candles I had placed around my cozy setup. Wrapping myself up in my oversized sweater and a large fluffy blanket, I poured myself the start of my second bottle for the night.
Sipping the oaky drink, I grabbed my book and started to read before something caught my eye from the window. I peered out the window to see my next-door neighbor jumping out of his window.
From the sixth floor.
Landed on his feet and walked away like nothing happened.
What the fuck?

📽️ Benny & Joon (1993)
I watched this movie years ago because it featured the song “I’m Gonna Be (500 Miles).” I honestly couldn’t remember any of it, so I wanted to watch it again. I have to say, I don’t really remember much of it this time either. It’s a very strange movie with very strange characters. It’s also interesting, though, and every actor does a great job portraying their characters. With the characters who they are, it can’t have been easy for Johnny Depp or Mary Stuart Masterson. While it’s a strange story, it’s also a sweet story. I’m not going to say everyone should watch this, because it is definitely not a movie everyone would like. But it’s a movie that can teach compassion and caring for others.
Sex/nudity: 2/10 (kissing, implied sex)
Language: 4/10 (one f-word, not a lot of other stuff but it’s there)
Violence: 2/10 (blood shown in a movie scene, some violent outbursts)
Overall rating: 6/10

Jenny Slate: Seasoned Professional (2024) was the perfect amount of quirk.
I’ve been a fan of Jenny Slate for since Parks & Rec, have appreciated her various voice-acting roles (I’m looking at you, Bob’s Burgers), and as a New England Patriots fan, I do appreciate this bit: So, as I was looking through my options last night and was deciding between a darker movie about killing aliens and then this, I picked this. Sometimes it’s just nice to have a little comedy on a…

A Goblin Tea Party
Tumblr media
Scene: A Dimly Lit Glade in a Dense, Overgrown Forest
(Four goblins are seated around a rickety table adorned with mismatched tea cups and a teapot that's seen better days. The air is filled with the scent of over-steeped tea and mild trepidation.)
Gobnob: (Pouring tea, which looks suspiciously like mud) Now, remember, pinky out. That's how the fancy folk do it.
Snizzle: (Eyeing her cup suspiciously) I heard the fancy folk also drink tea that doesn't look like swamp water.
Grubwort: (Sniffing the air) Is it supposed to smell like a troll's laundry basket?
Muddles: Peace, friends! It's about ambiance, not aroma. Imagine, we are sophisticated beings partaking in high society's rituals!
Gobnob: (Grinning) Right, sophisticated! That's why I wore my best hat. (Points to a hat that appears to be made from an old boot.)
Snizzle: Sophisticated? I still have mud under my nails from yesterday's grub-digging fiesta.
Grubwort: (Takes a sip and grimaces) This tea tastes like it's been steeped in the tears of a disgruntled pixie.
Muddles: A touch of imagination, Grubwort. Imagine it's... an exotic blend from the far-off lands of... um, somewhere far-off.
Gobnob: Speaking of far-off, did anyone remember to invite the hobgoblin from the eastern marshes?
Snizzle: I thought you were going to do that!
Muddles: (Sighs) It appears our grand tea party is just us... again.
Grubwort: (Smiling) Well, at least we've got the best company. Who needs hobgoblins when you've got tea that could double as potion ingredients?
Gobnob: To us, the finest goblins in these woods!
(They all raise their cups, clinking them together, a chorus of laughter mingling with the clatter of teacups in the dim forest glade.)
