"The Many Below, the Woundtree - my god, my hated child... The exact same voice that bellows in my head about the reckoning that’s to come for all of us unworthy sinners... is a mouth without a face. A pitiful thing that feasts upon carrion when we don’t have richer meat to offer it."

going FERAL
Carpenter in her rant to Paige: “the last words [my parents] ever heard were that they were to be devoured by something they did not understand.”
Paige, creating the chant of her god: “I will steal myself away from their intent for me. My blood will not ripen their soil, nor shall my body blossom into their chosen colours.”
“I will be hallowed, but not for them.”
Paige. Paige, creating a god of martyrs and victims. A god of scapegoats... but also, a god of understanding. A god which respects the last wishes of all who call upon it. A god whose purpose, intentionally or unintentionally, responded to the anger Carpenter expressed all those months ago.
And Carpenter, Sister “I would rather die for nothing and with nothing in my heart than die for you, my Trawler Man” Carpenter........... wow.
Not to mention!! The juxtaposition between the Cairn Maiden and the Many Below??????? They’re both there--not only for the followers of the faiths they lead, but for the followers of other faiths when they die.
Except the Cairn Maiden is for deaths that always were going to happen, the deaths that everyone walks towards, the death you’ve been waiting for all your life. The death a person should, and is destined, to have. And the Many Below is for deaths that you struggle against, for deaths in which your fate and faith and purpose in life is ripped out of your hands. The death you weren’t walking towards all your life. When it manifests, the Many Below is violent, cruel, vicious, savage.
IT’S LIKE. IT’S LIKE THE CAIRN MAIDEN BUT ANGRIER if that doesn’t scream Carpenter I don’t know what does.

A bouquet of [white crocuses] can indicate a humble approach or wishes of condolences for someone in grief.
- Andrew Gaumond
[ID: A traditional watercolor painting of one of the white crocus flowers of The Many Below from The Silt Verses. There are cracks in the ground around its roots with blood seeping up from the base of the leaves and petals. Black tendrils surround the flower. Beneath the flower is the line: “My god, let this not be in vain”. /end ID]

The many below, the tree of spite, Paige’s God has lived in my head rent free since it was birthed.
Sneakily doodled this in rebellion/panic whilst listening to a really gross, dehumanizing, fundamentalist evangelical sermon on Mother’s Day with family.
My body will not blossom into their chosen colors
The Silt Verses has been the single most important piece of media for me in deconstructing the faith I was born into.

"Because we raised something we couldn't control"
I'm disappointed in Paige in The Silt Verses episode 27 (Season 2, Chapter 12).
Not in how she's written - it's very in-character. She's a liberal who's kickstarted a violent revolution. She's gonna have regrets.
I just. Look at what she said in episode 23 (Season 2 Chapter 8):
Tumblr media
Transcript: "My point is, there's nothing we can make that can't be turned against us. So. If we're going to make a god that's genuinely new, something that actually helps ordinary people, and which can last in opposition to the contemporary pantheon, we need to make sure it's airtight. It can't be taken from us."
And Hayward's contribution to the same conversation:
Tumblr media
Transcript: "The gods that always gave us the most trouble in law enforcement were the localised ones. God of a hill, god of a river. They're the hardest to control, they're the hardest to understand if you're on the outside of it. If you want something that can't be taken from you - that can't be repurposed or stolen - you want to be thinking local."
And now in episode 27 she's fretting about how "Nine people are dead. And it's because we raised something we couldn't control."
Like. Good?!
You were trying to make a god resistant to control. Something that couldn't be recouped and recuperated. And now you're wringing your hands that it's something you can't control? That its first saint is popular enough in the prison to get the captives chanting its name so loud the helicopter can almost hear?
Tumblr media
Transcript: From below, we begin to hear muffled chanting. It's hard to hear, but the words might just be - 'Tree of Spite, Tree of Spite, Tree of Spite.' The sound cuts out quickly.
Fucking GOOD!
This is what you wanted! This is literally what you wanted.
Stop pussyfooting around, Paige.
Also, what the fuck did you think a Saint based on The Many Below, the god of spite towards the system that killed you, would be? In episode 26:
Tumblr media
Transcript: "But we think... we think it's going to be something to help you spit in the face of the people who are doing this to you."
What did you think spitting in the face of Esther's executioners was going to look like, Paige?
Tumblr media
Transcript: "I will bring them fear instead. My death today shall be the quiver in the executioner's hand tomorrow, the wavering doubt in the mind of the justicar." [The image says 'justice,' not 'justicar,' but this is in error: in the actual podcast, she says 'justicar.']
What did you think would bring a quiver to the executioner's hand, Paige? What did you think would bring doubt to the justicar?
And on top of that, one of your god's closest conceptual predecessors (episode 23) is a god of spite from the Immemorial War, with a significantly more evocative name than The Many Below:
Tumblr media
Transcript: "'May Its Spear Impale Your Father Sufficiently To Fuck Your Mother' - whew. A god of spite, used in the Immemorial War by dying soldiers on both sides." (Reading aloud) "The prayer-marks of 'May Its Spear' were typically erratic and ideographic, designed to be used by shaking fingers dipped in their own blood."
What the fuck did you think was going to happen, Paige?
What kind of god did you think you'd called forth?
And what kind of god do you think would be better?
Because from where I'm standing (sitting) this looks like a really fucking good god, Paige. It's working. It's spreading devotion organically among the powerless ("Tree of Spite! Tree of Spite!"), it's spreading fear organically among the powerful.
---
Now, the major downside of The Many Below is something Paige hasn't touched on at all - only Hayward has paid attention to it. Namely: animals spontaneously turning to saints when killed by predators, despite obviously not being able to recite the prayers or make the prayer marks.
Best case scenario this is a sort of aura effect based on the farm now being a holy place to the god, or on Paige being a holy person. Because if this sort of thing starts happening everywhere The Many Below is worshipped, hooo buddy the ecological implications are Not Great.
Great reason to become a vegetarian though.

so in an attempt to actually use positive thinking, anytime i fuck up and my brain reacts as if ive cause a minor apocalyptic event, i compare my fuck up to the 4 minute fuck up committed by the crew of the uss william d porter.
and only today, as i was having to explain what happened to my mom when i was explaining the whole comparison thing, did i realise that most people dont know about it and ive decided that needs to change because its objectively hilarious.
...which is a weird thing to say about an event that occured on a warship in 1943, specifically november 14th.
see the uss william d porter was a fletcher-class destroyer but you dont need to know what that means, just that she had guns that went bang bang and that she was escorting another ship, the uss iowa, to cairo.
while they were on their way there, they performed some gun trials like testing the anti-aircraft guns or the torpedos. and while they were running a torpedo drill, the crew of the porter managed to fire a live torpedo straight at the iowa which you know, in terms of a list of things to do while escorting a ship, shooting a torpedo at them is not on that list.
especially if the president of the united states is on board.
yeah so fdr was on board and the gun trials were actually his idea, and part of the trials was that they were conducted under radio silence.
and that means the crew of the porter couldnt just call the iowa to be like "move out the way, we accidentally shot a torpedo at you."
but they did have signal lamps and you know, the signalman on board was trained to signal this exact kind of message.
...and uh never mind, the signalman did manage to successfully tell the iowa that a torpedo was coming toward them but wasnt as successful when it came to the direction the torpedo was coming from.
not all hope is lost though because the signalman could still use the signal lamp to correct his previous mistake and-, never mind, he announced that the porter was reversing, which she wasnt.
yeah so at catastrophic mistake number 3, they broke radio silence to warn the iowa and she managed to turn out of the way just in time which meant no one got hurt. and even though the inquiry into the incident led to chief torpedoman (fantastic job title btw) lawton dawson being sentences to hard labour, fdr intervened and waved away his sentence, saying it was all an accident.
but yeah, so thats my new measure for "how much did i really fuck up?" and when i compared accidentally picking up a pencil case without a tag on it in wilko, turns out it was a very minor fuck-up. yes, the cashier had to ask another worker to grab a duplicate so they could scan the barcode, but i didnt nearly kill the president during wartime via accidental friendly fire

Dp x dc prompt #10000000000000000000000000000000000¹⁰
Bruce decided to foster this boy he had found. The kid's name is Danny, his parents were arrested for child endangerment and having an illegal lab in their basement.
At first the boy was curt and avoided contact with others. But now, they cannot keep their eyes off him. The moment they look away he is already halfway down the street running like a bat(haha) out of hell. No wonder Bruce had found him wondering the streets. No family could ever keep him in one place.
At first it was easy to catch him and bring him back, "hiring" the vigilantes to find him. But with time he only got sneakier, faster, and angrier. Everytime he got dragged back he was yelling and cursing. Calling Bruce a "fruitloop" he could only assume that was ment to be derogatory. Once he even punched poor Dick in the face. Duke swears that he must be a meta human, and Bruce can't help but agree with that sentiment.
Oddly enough though, Jason was the one to find him the most. At first it was just luck, but the more emotional Danny got, the more it became like a sixth sense to him. Danny disappeared, and Jason could find him. Hell, Danny was calmest with Jason. Still warry, but he didn't struggle as much, or search for ways out when he was set to watch him.
Now though, there were more reasons to keep an eye on him than before. One night he escaped, but he wasn't running from them, he was running to something. When Jason managed to catch him he swore up and down this wasn't an escape attempt, right before he pulled the vigilante down barely avoiding a bullet to the head. It was the Court of Owls. They were after Danny, and they led him into a trap. They barely made it out with their lives. Danny claimed he followed because he saw someone in trouble.
Then later, the League of Assassins made an attempt on his life. Claiming Ra's Al Ghul had plans for him. Ok. Ew. Yet another son of Bruce's the old creep was after.
Then more and more paranormal based groups and cults were gunning it for the poor kid. Now Danny had a new reason to run, and they had a new reason to protect him even harder.

PSA to those interested in DPxDC Crossover Content
Reminder that, as per the Danny Phantom x DC discord stated rules, the official tag that the crossover fandom operates under is DPxDC with NO spaces. This is because Tumblr filters do a bad job when it comes to spaces and often get confused.
If you wish to participate in the dpxdc fandom, please tag all your content accordingly, and DPxDC server mods have advised people to avoid using the DC tag and the Danny Phantom tag. This is because the dpxdc fandom entirely overpowers the danny phantom fandom in sheer numbers alone, and it is in fact so big with so much lore that it's really a separate entity from both DP and DC. And tagging properly reduces unwanted flooding to the separate fandoms.
If you have any questions, please refer to this awesome tagging guide made by @ectoentity about the dpxdc fandom and tags. And as mentioned previously, there is a huge DPxDC discord server you can join if you're interested. You can DM the mod-operated blog for an invite: @batpham-discord-highlights (all the mods for this server are awesome, real tea)

self-proclaimed radical leftists: in the communist utopia that exists only in my head, everyone will work, by which i mean a full-time job in the post-industrial revolution sense. this is because work is obviously the only way one can contribute to society, and everyone who doesn't work is a parasite that will be eradicated in my Communist Utopia™. i don't even care about the products or purpose of people's labour because, as everyone knows, employment equals morality and so having a job is inherently virtuous and not having a job makes you a lazy leech who doesn't deserve to live. trust me, this is a very communist idea. i'm practically an expert because i read 1.5 tweets about marx.
what? omg why are you making this about disability, i was obviously talking about normal people 🙄 if you're disabled, you have an excuse to be a useless waste of resources who can't contribute anything 😊 in my ✨ Communist Utopia ✨, you don't have to work if you're not able to. don't worry, we'll have rigorous and dehumanising tests to determine if you're disabled enough or if you're just a lazy faker! this process is infallible and has no drawbacks whatsoever for disabled people. have you considered that maybe you're the real ableist for criticising me? 🤔 anyway, have i mentioned how much i love employment and also the taste of boot leather
