Barty fell for Evan first, but Evan confessed.

Barty has trouble talking about his own feelings, but Evan helps him talk things through.

They are always seen together. You could say that Barty drags Evan around everywhere, but Evan follows willingly.

They don't argue often, but when they do it gets pretty bad, and they're both miserable.

They spend the majority of their time going around and causing chaos.

Barty takes the marauder's pranks on the Slytherins personally, and makes it his mission to "get them back".

For instance, the time Barty and Evan pranked the marauders by turning everything in their dorm green.

This really pissed off Sirius, only fueling the fire even more.

Regulus had to force them to apologize because of how upset Sirius was.

Barty and Evan are Regulus' #1 supporters. They helped him find both his gender identity and his sexuality.

They always tease Regulus for his obvious crush on James. They practically go crazy when they realize James is just as into Regulus. "Come on! Just get together already!" Barty complains, irritated.

When Evan isn't with Barty, he's usually with Dorcas. The two of them get along surprisingly well.

Evan will complain about Barty while Dorcas complains about Marlene. They totally gossip together.

Evan loves Barty more than anything in the world, but sometimes he just needs a break.

When Evan is hanging out with Dorcas, Barty usually finds himself with Regulus.

Barty is extremely protective of Regulus. He may have spied on James a little to see if his interest in Regulus is genuine.

After he knows James has good intentions, he's the biggest "Jegulus" shipper.

Barty and Evan started sleeping in the same bed during fifth year. It just felt right. It brought them even closer, up to the point where they're almost inserperable.

They truly love each other more than anything and aren't scared to show it. They are both fine with PDA.

They never officially "came out" but everyone knows they're together.

Let us do some mathematics.

As of 31 Dec 2018, there were 164 James/Regulus fics on AO3.

2019 - 205

2020 - 314

2021 - 969

2022 - 3,860 (year Crimson Rivers, biggest Jegulus fic, is published)

2023 - 10,887

2024 - 13,700+

There are now (March 2024) about half as many Jegulus fics as Jily. At 2024 rate of about 1000 new fics a month for Jegulus (difference between '24 and '23), there will be about 22,000 at the end of 2024. There are about 26,000 for Jily today. The rate is about 300/month. If Jegulus continues to grow at this rate it will out-fic Jily by the end of 2025.

Before 2021/2022, Jegulus was a rare pair. There is no "years ago" with Jegulus.

Jily shippers became "annoying" when Jegulus started tagging everything Jily, or bashed Jily and tagged Jily, or bashed Lily. Jegulus criticism came when Jegulus shippers said their ship could be canon or canon compliant.

We were getting along until Jegulus exploded and made it everyone else's problem.
