Jealous?
Thanks so much to the amazing @rogueddie for letting me write this!!!! Hope it lives to standards :)
.
Eddie had a problem.
A Steve Harrington sized problem.
Said problem was standing behind the counter at Family Video while the woman in front of him blatantly flirted with him.
It wasn’t the woman Eddie was worried about— she had at least five years of age on Steve, so maybe there was cause for concern— but Steve wasn’t paying her the time of day.
Instead, he was glancing over the woman’s shoulder at Eddie, who lurked in the aisles, and kept making faces and blabbling his mouth mockingly whenever she wasn’t paying attention.
Eddie was desperately holding back snickers and snorts. He couldn’t help but let a giggle escape when Steve moved his hand in a “blabbing” motion when she said something about her ex-husband (HUSBAND) again. The woman whipped around and glared at Eddie. Eddie gave her a finger waggle wave he realized belatedly was the same one Steve does.
Steve himself was almost beet red in the face with his effort to hold in his laugh. Eddie was amazed at how long he’d lasted.
The moment the door closed behind her Steve put his face in his arms on the counter and full on cackled. Eddie was quick to join.
They were still laughing when Robin came back from the bathroom.
“Is she gone?” she asked, looking oddly between the two of them.
Steve nodded, not having enough breath to get words out. Robin sighed a dramatic breath of relief.
“Oh thank God. Cause she looked one second away from bringing up some stupid shit like her failed marriage—“
That sent Steve and Eddie into another spiral of laughs.
“There’s no way she actually did.” Robin deadpanned.
Eddie nodded vigorously. “She fucking did!”
“Four times! As if bringing up how she was newly-single would make me want her. Did she look in a mirror before leaving? She’s closer to my dads age.”
Eddie snorted, trying to get his laughter under control enough to say “Even man-whore Richard Harrington wouldn’t go within a 20 foot radius of her.”
Steve didn’t waste a second before racking on: “Doesn’t need to get too close with how far back that hairline stretches.”
Robin and Eddie laughed themselves to tears.
And that was how it went.
A woman would come into the video store, shoot their shot with Steve, and Steve would laugh about it with Robin and Eddie later.
And it was fun. Eddie found it fun. Cause he knew Steve would always shoot the girls down, however nice or rudely he has to be about it.
Until—
Until.
It was a Friday, and as per usual on Fridays, Eddie was at Steve’s. Of course, it wasn’t just him— Robin, Nancy, Jonathan and Argyle were there as well.
They’d been hanging out whenever they all could before Nancy and Jonathan went to college and Argyle back to Cali. Hence the Friday night hang outs.
Tonight was no different, except for one thing.
“So explain to me once again why we have to drive all the way out to Indy for this?” Jonathan complained.
Nancy sighed and leant into him. “Cause there aren’t any good bars in Hawkins. And everywhere in Hawkins knows that almost none of us are of legal age.”
Jonathan grumbled but conceded, Wheeler had a point.
“Besides,” added Robin. “It’d be nice to finally get the hell out and see some new people.”
“Amen.” Agreed Eddie and Argyle at the same time. They both chuckled.
“Yeah well, I’d like to go soon before my social battery drains itself dead.” Remarked Jonathan, throwing an arm around his girlfriend’s shoulders.
“We’d have left already if SOMEBODY DIDN’T HAVE TO SPEND HALF AN HOUR PRIMPING HIMSELF!” Yelled Robin towards the stairs.
Steve had been MIA since Eddie got there at least 20 minutes ago. According to Robin he was still getting ready.
“PUT A LID ON IT BIRD-FOR-BRAINS, IM COMING!” Was the reply she got from the top of the stairs, where Steve was now coming from.
Nancy and Argyle snorted at the insult, but Eddie’s mind was rather taken up by the cut-off jean shorts Steve wore that showed more of his thighs than Eddie thought necessary for anyone’s functioning brain. He was also wearing what looked like the softest sweater he owned; a dark purple one that seriously brought out the green in his eyes.
Nancy whistled, Robin clapped. Argyle grinned at Steve and said
“Hey man! That’s the sweater I got you!”
Steve grinned right back and nodded. “Uh huh! Dude it’s like— SO fucking comfy you don’t even understand.”
The sweater was a little big on Steve, hanging over his thumbs a bit in the sleeves and landing just below the waistline of his shorts. If Eddie wasn’t so focused on the many moles on his thighs that were on display, the fact that Argyle had gotten Steve a sweater may have rubbed him the wrong way.
As it stood, Steve looked good.
He looked stunning, actually, in his glasses and his hair slightly ruffled in a delicate manner and his eyes wide and bright and—
“Eddie!”
He blinked and Steve was standing in front of him, no one else in the room.
“Huh?”
Steve grinned giddily and laughed at him. “C’mon dude, you’re my ride up, remember?”
Oh yeah. They’d split everyone between his and Argyles vans.
“Isn’t Buckley with us?” Eddie asked as he grabbed his keys and headed out the door.
“Yeah, but I think she’s sticking with Jon and them on the way up.”
Eddie nodded and averted his gaze once more. There was a reason he’d skipped gym and avoided the mall.
That reason was glaring at him with all of its dotted moles and freckles and faint scars.
Jesus Christ he needed a cigarette.
The ride up was uneventful, peaceful even. Eddie let Steve have control over the radio, something Steve thought was normal but was downright foreign to anyone else. Eddie usually fought tooth and nail for control over the music but the sight of Steve singing and drumming his legs (holy shit his thighs jiggled—) and jamming out with a bright smile to whatever Tears for Fears or ABBA song he put on was worth it.
He followed behind Argyle and reluctantly sang under his breath with Steve to Head Over Heels.
The club they ended up going to was a little deeper into the city than they’d initially thought, and was slightly crowded when they got in.
Eddie was immediately hit with the smell of sweat and booze but not in an entirely bad way. In a way that told him that people here had fun.
It was bright and loud and the air tasted like fries (though Eddie might just be hungry). They took an empty table booth in a corner in the back.
After dropping their jackets off and everyone picking a seat, Steve got up to get everyone drinks.
“You want me to come with?” Eddie asked worriedly. It was Steve’s first time in Indy in a while and his first time out of Hawkins since the fall of Vecna. Sue Eddie for being cautious.
But Steve smiled sweetly at him and shook his head. “I’ll be alright, Eds. Be right back.” He knocked his knuckles on Eddie’s head affectionately and walked off. Eddie may have spent a second ogling before snapping his gaze to the table.
“So?”
Eddie looked at Nancy with a raised eyebrow. She raised one right back.
“Soooo…?”
She sighed. “Oh you’re hopeless.”
Jonathan snickered.
“Wha—“
“Are you gonna make a move tonight?” Argyle elaborated.
Eddie shot up real fast. “Make a move? On who, Steve?”
“Yea, on Steve, doofus!” Robin reprimanded.
“There’s no board to make a move on.” Eddie pushed stubbornly. Because it was true. There was nothing there.
Robin groaned and dropped her head to the table.
“Dude, relax your knee. It’s shaking the whole table.” Jonathan tapped Eddie’s leg under the booth.
“Sorry, sorry. He’s been gone a while, right?” Eddie craned his head to look around the bodies of people dancing.
Robin huffed. “Yeah, kinda. But there are six of us, maybe he’s having trouble carrying all the drinks.”
Nancy suddenly kicked his leg under the table, a lot harder than her boyfriend had earlier. Eddie winced.
“Go help him.” Nancy all but demanded.
Eddie was up and away in a second, happy to have an excuse. He faintly heard Nancy and Robin high five behind him.
He weaved through the dancing crowd, bodies jostling him and pushing him forward until he got to the bar and finally spotted Steve and—
And?
Something bubbled low in Eddie’s gut at the man standing in front of Steve. He was taller than both Steve and Eddie, well-built and had a bit of a beard going. He was leaning on the bar next to Steve, sort of caging him in. The scene made Eddie mad for reasons he didn’t give himself time to think about before he inserting himself.
“Steve!”
Both Steve and the asshole’s heads turned to Eddie. Steve’s eyes lit up in recognition and relief while the man’s narrowed in anger at being interrupted.
“You know him, doll?”
Eddie wanted to make the man spit his own teeth out. Nobody else got to call Steve pet names. Just Eddie. It was an Eddie Thing, not an Everybody Thing. Fuck this guy.
“Yeah—“ Steve started.
“Yeah, he does. And yet I don’t think he knows you.”
Eddie stood shoulder to shoulder with Steve, glaring daggers at the douche.
The man scoffed and huffed, walking away and muttering under his breath. Eddie scowled until he could see the guy and his stupid beard. He finally turned to Steve.
Who was absolutely red in the face.
“You alright, sweetheart?” Eddie asked worriedly. “He wasn’t bothering you right? He seemed like a dick, looked like one even before I got up close.”
Steve stared at Eddie wide-eyed with his pretty lips parted. He blinked and spluttered a response.
“U—um, yeah! Yeah, no, I’m— I’m good. I’m alright. I’m great! Yep, great! Uh—“
“Are you sure?” Eddie was concerned, never having heard Steve stumble over a simple sentence so much.
Steve nodded vigorously before turning to the bar snappily. Eddie could still see the red painting his ears.
“Yep! Perfect! Could you help with the drinks? I don’t think I can carry them all, thanks!” And he was off back to the table.
Eddie stared after him for a moment before slowly grabbing the other three drinks and following back through the sea of bodies.
Steve was sat by the time Eddie got back to the booth, whispering heatedly with Robin, Eddie only managing to hear Steve hiss to her “that wouldn’t work!” before noticing his presence and shutting up all together.
Eddie raised an eyebrow but let it slide while he gave Nancy and Jon their drinks. He slid into the booth next to Steve who sat between him and Robin and across from Jonathan.
For the next 10 minutes, they all talked. They talked and laughed and joked and drank. But Steve seemed more in his head than usual.
Eddie was just working up the courage to ask him what was wrong when a guy came up to their table, eyeing Steve. Eddie immediately tensed.
“Hi.”
All six heads turned to the dude who just showed up. But that didn’t deter him much.
“I was just wondering if pretty boy here wanted to dance?” He smirked at Steve, who Eddie felt tense up beside him.
“Um—“ Steve’s voice was kind of shaky, barely. But it was enough (mixed with the anger already brewing in his gut at the NERVE of this guy) for Eddie to finally step in.
“He’s alright.”
Six heads suddenly turned on him.
“Excuse me?” The asshole asked.
“You’re excused.” Eddie waved his hand in a shooing motion.
“Well I hadn’t exactly—“
“And I hadn’t exactly /asked/, now have I? Goodbye.” Eddie didn’t even bother offering a smile to hide the aggression in his tone. His message was clear: Get Lost.
The douche walked away grumbling and conversation soon resumed at the table.
“What was that!?” Jonathan asked incredulously.
Nancy and Argyle were both openly staring at Eddie in bewilderment.
Eddie shifted, but was more focused on the fact that Steve seemed to relax again.
“The dude was being an asshole. Just told him to get lost, not a big deal.”
“He was just asking Steve to dance? I don’t see the problem there.” Robin cut in.
It gave Eddie pause for thinking. She was right; there really was no problem there, so why had he been so upset about the dude asking Steve to dance. God just the thought of it left a bad taste in his mouth.
“It’s fine, Rob. I was just gonna tell him no anyway.”
Eddie looked at Steve then, who was a whole new shade of red.
“Are you alright? You’re all red again.” Eddie worried. Jonathan snorted into his drink and then winced when Steve kicked him under the table. Steve looked at Eddie.
“Yeah, I’m fine. Just a bit overwhelmed in the tight space I think. You wanna— uh— you wanna go dance?”
Eddie didn’t waste a second with his answer. “Sure.”
Eddie watched Steve and Robin have a silent conversation with their eyes and expressions before Robin grinned in victory and waved at them eagerly.
“Buh-bye! Have fun!” She sing-songed. Steve shot her a glare.
Eddie led Steve to the dance floor somewhere towards the edge of the crowd where there was less people. They really just stood there talking and sipping on their drinks while everyone around them danced.
“Hey, uh— thanks for telling him to back off. I’ve, I’ve never actually… been flirted with? By a guy, I mean— this is like— a brand new thing. But he and the other dude seemed just really creepy so— uh, thanks.” Steve stumbled through.
Eddie stared at his wide, earnest eyes and wondered how no guy had ever flirted with Steve before tonight. Even if the idea of it ever happening made him want to hurt somebody.
(Even though Eddie knows that guys have flirted with Steve before. Knows that he didn’t just make up those looks Tommy Hagan and Billy Hargrove gave him.)
So Eddie smiled and shook his head. “You’re all good, sweetheart. Just don’t want you running into the wrong guys.”
That pretty blush was back again, making Steve look even more breathtaking under the florescent lights and making his smile twice as bright.
Then they were rudely interrupted.
“Hey, babyboy.” Came an obnoxious call from behind Eddie. The guy was, again, taller that Steve, but this time he was barely taller than Eddie (a/n lemme live in slightly shorter Steve fantasy ok—). Eddie immediately hated him and his entire existence. Who just called people that? Babyboy? Was he serious or delusional?
Eddie watched Steve’s shoulders tense awkwardly while the guy spoke. His anger only grew and grew.
“Alright that’s enough dude, he’s not interested.”
The guy didn’t say anything to Eddie but kept talking to Steve which only served to irk Eddie further.
“I said he’s not interested ass face.” Eddie grabbed the guy’s shoulder. He finally looked at Eddie, seeming bored.
“He hasn’t said anything? Why not let the babydoll decide, huh?” He smirked at Steve. Eddie wanted to puke and scream at the same time. He felt like he was chewing on nails listening to this guy. Babydoll? First babyboy and now BABYDOLL??? Who the fuck was this dude? And more importantly would the possible assault charges be worth it?
“Um— yeah, I’m sorry. I’m not really interested in looking for anybody tonight.” Steve confirmed.
“Oh c’mon, doll face, don’t be like that.”
Oh the assault charges would so be worth it.
“He just said he wasn’t interested so fuck off.” Eddie shoved his shoulder. The dude finally turned to look at Eddie, leveling him with a glare that Eddie happily returned tenfold. If looks could kill the guy would have been fucking obliterated on sight.
“If he wasn’t interested then why’s he dressed like that, huh?”
Jail was looking mighty fine to Eddie.
“I’m right fucking here, asshat.” Steve spoke up. “And Im dressed like this because I look good and I know it. Not for fucks like you who have to beg for scraps to get by. I said I wasn’t interested and you’re just causing more of a headache if anything.”
Eddie grinned at Steve. It was so hot when he got all bitchy.
The asshole scoffed. “Oh so baby’s got a mouth on him.”
Eddie finally snapped, those assault charges no where in mind when he punched the guy in the face.
“Eddie!” Steve yelled, absolutely flabbergasted at the sudden violence.
The guy left after that with a threat of harassment charges. Steve took Eddie outside to the alleyway on the side of the club to get away from the crowd and to better examine his freshly bruised knuckles.
“You didn’t have to punch him.”
“He fucking had it coming.” Eddie spat through clenched teeth. He was still seething. And Steve was prodding at the bruises but that was neither here nor there.
Steve looked at Eddie, still holding his bruised hand. His eyes were wide as always and his cheeks flushed once more. His eyes seemed to search Eddie for something.
“Was it cause he was an ass?”
Eddie scoffed. “Of course! He was an ass and made you uncomfortable and—“
And I wanted to be the one to call you baby.
“And?” Steve prompted.
“And… and I hated how he talked to you.”
Steve looked down at Eddie hand, the blush rising to ears again. Eddie hooked a finger under Steve’s chin with the hand that wasn’t bruised and being held.
“Hey, you alright? You’re getting all quiet again.”
Steve’s eyes flitted back and forth between Eddie’s own before he sighed.
“Eddie.. I can’t— I don’t understand.”
Eddie pouted, confused. “Don’t understand what? There’s not much to it, honey.”
Steve cheeks pinkened again with the endearment. “Not— not that. I get that he was a dick— a massive dick attitude to make up for what he was surely lacking—“
That startled a laugh out of Eddie.
“—but I guess I don’t understand the other times? You were never like this before when anyone else flirted, so what changed tonight?”
And wasn’t that a thought.
What changed?
Well for starters, he wanted to kiss Steve. He wanted to kiss Steve senseless, shove him up against a wall and stick his tongue down his throat until he was breathless an begging for it.
So that’s changed.
But he also wanted to hug Steve and hold him right and call him things like Sweetheart and Honey and Love and Baby (which he already does anyway for the most part). He wanted to take Steve places and show him things. Wanted to give Steve every pretty rock he found and show him every cool leaf he saw.
What changed was that he wanted Steve in every which way Steve would let him have him.
But of course, Eddie didn’t express these aloud.
“Eddie…” Steve stared wide-eyed with his mouth opened in shock, his face a violent shade of red.
Or maybe he did express them aloud.
He’d drank more than he thought.
And then Steve was kissing him. Steve was pulling him in by the hand he was holding and pressing their lips together in a kiss that Eddie would never forget, not matter how much he’d drank that night.
They let go of each others hands, Eddie immediately grabbing Steve’s waist and Steve tangling his hands in Eddie hair.
By the time they’d pulled away to breathe Eddie bad fulfilled his wish of shoving Steve against a wall and sticking his tongue down his throat.
“So you were jealous?” Steve teased, playing with Eddie hair where his arms were still wrapped around his neck.
Eddie grumbled under his breath and kissed Steve to shut him up. Steve hummed and smiled into the kiss.
“Kissing me into going to make me drop it, Munson. You were totally jealous of those guys in there.”
Eddie huffed and stooped lower to kiss at Steve neck, gaining an immediate reaction with Steve’s stuttered breath and sudden silence. Eddie chuckled.
“Oh? I thought kissing you wasn’t going to make you drop it.”
Steve hit his shoulder weakly. “Shut it, asshole— mm!” Eddie bit down lightly on the side of his neck.
Then the door to the alley was opening and Robin was telling them to get their horny asses home before thy got arrested for public indecency.
So they agreed to pick up at home. And the whole ride there was filled with relentless teasing about Eddie’s apparent jealousy towards any guy who so much as looked at Steve oddly.
.
It’s rushed I know but it’s like 2am on a school night 😭 and I’m not upset with the results. Could it be better? Yeah. Could it be worse? Absolutely. It’s not my finest work but oh well 🤷

Eddie is beginning to wonder if he’ll ever reach a point where Steve couldn’t reduce him to this state.
This state being… transfixed. Eddie is sure he must look like a lovesick cartoon. In fact, if he could manage to drag his gaze away, he’d probably find red hearts circling around his head in a halo, popping like little bubbles.
But Eddie can’t move his eyes. Can’t even close his mouth either.
Steve’s talking to him too, which is most definitely worse — he’s totally missing every word. He can see Steve’s lips moving, pink plush lips wrapping around words but fuck, that was a total trap because now Eddie is just looking at his lips. He tries to refocus, to listen. His eyes just wander back to what he was staring back at the first place.
Was Steve like this all the time? Just a walking around looking so damn delectable?
Or is it Eddie, just a starved man who’s been living off stolen glances, for as long as he can remember? For once, he’s learning, he’s allowed to look.
And by God, is he looking.
Steve’s not even doing it on purpose either, which probably makes the whole thing funnier. Eddie knows what his boyfriend (boyfriend! he thinks giddily in his mind) looks like when he’s cleaned up to impress. He can spot the way Steve preens beneath Eddie’s lingering gaze.
This is not that. Today, Steve is just cleaning, a usual Sunday morning ritual.
He’s got some old sport shorts on and he’s clearly grown a bit since he first got them— unless Hawkins has always been giving out slutty little shorts to the basketball team (They haven’t. Eddie would know if they did.)
He’s wearing one of his wife-beater singlets too. It’s a little on the scrappy side though, considering it’s nearly see-through with how worn it is.
Honestly, in Eddie’s humble and gay opinion, it’s stupidly hot. The dark hair dusted across of Steve’s chest is visible beneath it, the shirt showing off the shape of his broad chest. Even better, his happy trail is visible and goddamn, if that doesn’t make Eddie happy, he doesn’t know what will.
But it’s not even that.
Quite frankly, Eddie’s rather embarrassed that he’s basically blue-screening because Steve is pulling out the cord out from the vacuum cleaner.
But… but he’s yanking it up towards his chest, slow and strong repetitive motions— that take enough effort to make his biceps bulge with every tug.
Eddie can’t stop watching. The cord must be several metres long and he’s not sure if he should be cursing it or thanking it for the view he gets; Steve’s tan arms flexing and rippling. Try as he might, Eddie can’t help imagining how they must look when Steve’s got his hand aroun—
“—hello? Are you even listening to me?”
Steve’s voice cuts into Eddie’s dangerously side-tracked thoughts and he pauses his tugging at the same time. It’s the thing that finally allows him to break his lustful stare at Steve’s arms. Oh God, he just got all hot and bothered over his boyfriend doing the vacuuming.
“Hello.” Eddie says back, because that was the first word to register in his brain. “I mean- yes. I’m—”
Eddie decides mid-sentence that he’s not getting away with the lie. He pivots. “Okay, no, I didn’t hear that. Would you please tell me what you just said, oh lovely sweet man of mine?”
Ever the butterer-upper, he was. Thank God it works on Steve. He rolls his eyes a little but there’s an adoring grin on his lips.
“Man of mine,” Steve mutters amusedly under his breath. He drops the vacuum cord on the carpeted floor and leans down the grab the handle of the vacuum. “You just kinda froze when you came in. I was asking if everything was okay? I’m just doing this room then I’ll be done, if you don’t like the noise.”
Eddie adores that Steve’s taken his silence as though he might be afraid of the vacuum cleaner or something. He nearly snorts aloud at how far from the truth it is.
“Uh huh.” Eddie nods, not bothering to correct him. He jerks a thumb behind him, pointing at nothing. “I’m just gonna…”
He spins on his heel and exits left stage, fast as he can while still looking normal (he’s unsuccessful, as he leaves a baffled Steve behind him.) As he enters into the kitchen and decides to fix them both a pot of coffee, Eddie lets himself giggle over the pure absurdity of what just happens.
It’s mortifying. It’s hilarious. He can never tell Steve.
Except, when Steve comes to find him in the kitchen and trades a kiss for some coffee, Eddie can’t help it. All he ever wants to do is make Steve laugh.
He decides it’s worth the embarrassment when Steve laughs so hard coffee comes out his nose.
Steve teasingly promises that he’ll to try be less distracting, then rescinds his words at Eddie’s abject reaction (“Don’t you dare.”) looking far too smug— in a delighted sort of way. Preening, in that way Eddie loves.
Their first kiss, as Eddie slides onto Steve’s lap and loops his arms over his shoulders, fingers dancing on those tasty arms, tastes a little bit like coffee. Their mugs grow cold, untouched.
Eddie doesn’t mind — he’s too busy finding out that the rest of their kisses taste like something between sunlight and Steve.

Can I request some jealous! Eddie x cheerleader! reader? (Totally inspired to request bc of the Billy fic!) But what if Reader and Eddie had been dating for over a year and Reader is a cheerleader, and Eddie's jealous bc he always find Steve, Billy, Jason, and all those jocks flirting with reader (pretend this is B4 season 4) and once they were at Chrissy's party, Eddie to do deals, but he found the jocks flirting with Reader at a party (reader thinks the jocks are dumb). After some hours, Eddie has had enough, he takes her to his van and they have sex and Reader's like, if you were so jealous you should've told me! (But like, she's not angry, she thinks it's cute that Eddie acts overprotective and all that when he's jealous) ik you just wrote the Billy one, but I can imagine Billy and Eddie being like different kind of jealous boys (if that's a thing!)
Haha I'm glad you got some inspiration. I hope this is what you wanted and you enjoy it. Thank you for requesting 🫶🏻
If the van is shaking, don't come knocking
Tumblr media
Eddie knew that the second he took Y/N off the market, there would be consequences. When Eddie was chasing after her, he wasn't the only one. He was running with every boy in school, all competing to win her heart. He knew she was way out of his league, and he knew if he fucked up, she has many options waiting for her.
But for some reason, she set her eyes on Eddie at the start and they never wandered off. Eddie doesn't understand it, but he isn't gonna question it.
Sadly, the jocks didn't quite stop chasing her after their relationship went official. Eddie felt like he had to beat guys off of her with a stick. Even after a full year of being together, the basketball ball team watched her more than the ball. Eddie almost wanted to join the team just so he could throw the ball at their dicks.
Billy Hargrove, a blonde with blue eyes and a reputation for being amazing in bed. Eddie knows Billy isn't a real competition because Y/N was sweet and hated assholes. Plus he looked nothing like Eddie, and Eddie knows he's Y/N's type. So only a .5 threat to Eddie. But Billy knew how to flirt, and that scared Eddie.
Jason Carver, another blonde and blue eyes, is not a threat to Eddie. Incredibly rich? Yeah, he's got that over Eddie's head. Still an asshole, but less than Billy. A full-point threat to Eddie.
Steve fucking Harrington, has dark hair and dark eyes. Bits of curls were thrown in and moles on his delicate skin. He was rich, smart, stupidly friendly, and one of Y/N's closest friends. And the damn guy was good with kids, which Y/N fawned over. A full ten-point threat to Eddie.
~~~
It was party night at Chrissy's and Eddie didn't want to leave the van. Y/N was wearing dark jeans, an old hoodie of Eddie's, and white sneakers. And Eddie wanted to pounce. The way her perfume lingered on his hoodie made his brain shut off and his dick has full control. He couldn't help but move his hand up her thigh and kiss her neck.
"Let's just stay in here." He whispered, his hot tongue licking up her neck. She whined as she melted into his touch. He always knew how to get her hot and bothered in seconds.
"I wish, but we can't. Chrissy was pissed when we skipped the last party to hook up in the hot tub in the basement." Y/N whined, but not trying too hard to push him off.
"Ugh fine. Stupid cheer squad." Eddie said as he groaned. He pulled himself away and took out his keys.
"Be nice!" Y/N warned. She gave him a stern look but still pecked his lips before they got out of the van.
And just like months to a flame, the boys came running.
"Heya gorgeous, interested in some beer bong?" Billy asked, his shirt unbuttoned as his chest glistened in some type of liquid. Eddie slipped his hand into Y/N's back pocket, a glare sent to the bad boy.
"Maybe in a bit? Eddie and I are going to get a drink!" She said sweetly as she waved. Eddie sometimes hated how sweet she was to everyone.
"I'll let your boyfriend play!" Billy tried again, a smirk on his face when Y/N squealed excitedly.
"Baby! Let's go play. You kick ass at this game all the time." Y/N said, grabbing his hand out of her jeans pocket to hold it and drag him to the table.
Y/N swept the hoodie over her head, she didn't want to ruin it with stains of beer or whatever alcohol was in the cups.
Eddie growled as Billy whistled, his eyes taking in Y/N's tight black long-sleeve. Eddie couldn't help but stare as well, but he's the boyfriend so he's allowed to do that.
"Just go, Hargrove," Eddie said as he rolled his eyes.
"If I win, your girl is my partner for the next round," Billy said, smirking as he threw the ball and it landed perfectly in the red solo cup.
Eddie already planned to win, but now he wasn't leaving until he embarrassed the king of Hawkins.
~~~
"THAT'S MY BOYFRIEND!" Y/N screamed, a little tipsy. She held her arms up proud as Eddie sank the ball in the last remaining cup. Eddie smirked as Billy glared over, his girl wrapped herself around his body in a side cuddle. Eddie stood proud, his hand came down on her ass and he gripped it hard. Billy's eyes watched with anger and jealousy as he chugged the drink.
Y/N put back on Eddie's hoodie and grabbed Eddie's hand.
After the game, they finally made it inside the actual party. And to no surprise, Jason found them.
"Well hello, beautiful. How are you?" He asked, his eyes not looking away from her.
"A little tipsy. Eddie and I just creamed Hargrove at beer pong." Y/N said, she was so friendly and sweet that she didn't notice every time she brought up Eddie, these boys fought back a glare. Almost like she was always reminding them without knowing.
"Good. Someone needed to take him down a few" Jason said, and Y/N laughed. Of course, Jason felt like he was the man for making her laugh. But so what, Eddie made her laugh a hundred times a day.
Jason and Y/N talked for a few minutes, Eddie stood next to her but didn't contribute to the conversation. Just kept his eyes on Jason to make sure he didn't try anything.
"Need to run to the bathroom. Be aware of your surroundings and don't let him flirt into your mouth." Eddie said, pecking her cheek. She nodded and moved to peck his lips.
Eddie knew he had to be fast, the boys watched her like a prey. The second the alpha was gone, they prepared to attack.
~~~
Eddie went as fast as he could, washing his hands in five seconds as he raced back out. Only to not find her in the same place he left her.
It was thirty seconds, how the fuck did she move so fast?
He searched the house and made his way to the kitchen. He smiled as he watched her sit on the counter, her feet dangling as she sipped on water. He panicked and all she was doing was being a good girl and drinking water.
Eddie for the first time since they came, felt like it was just the two of them. But then Steve walked right into the perfect picture.
"Thanks for the water." She said as she chugged it down.
"Of course, someone should be watching over something as delicate as you," Steve said, his fingers reaching up to touch her chin, but Eddie's hand stopped him. He didn't say a word, just growled at Steve and shoved him.
Steve was the one guy he refused to let flirt with her for one second. Steve backed off and pouted as Eddie grabbed Y/N's hand and raced them out the door.
"Eddie? Where are we going?" She asked, her feet trying to keep up with his long strides. But Eddie didn't say a word, he opened the back of his van and crawled in. Even though he looked pissed, he was a gentleman and gently helped her up into the van.
"What's wrong?" She tried again as he slammed shut the doors. Instead of answering, he smashed his lips on hers. He easily pushed her down, her back against the soft carpet. His hands were working up and down her body at a fast pace.
They pulled apart to quickly take off their clothes, both eagerly trying to get naked as fast as they could. Y/N didn't even have time to take off her bra when Eddie was pushing her down again.
He dove between her thighs, hot tongue swirling around her clit as he shoved two fingers into her mouth, she swirled her tongue around them. Getting them soaked in her spit. She let them go with a loud pop, then he took the same fingers and shoved them into her cunt.
She whined as his mouth sucked on her clit and his fingers scissored inside of her. He was fucking her fast, and it made her head spin. She could feel him forcing an orgasm out of her. Like he wanted her to cum in seconds. She moaned, her thighs clenching around his head as her hands dug into his hair. She kept his head in place as she rocked her hips against his tongue and fingers.
But before she could cum, he removed himself. She whined after him, her hands reaching for him.
"One second, pretty girl. Just want you to soak my cock." He smirked, leaning down to peck her lips as he pushed his cock inside of her. She whimpered as his cock stretched her out even further. Her nails dug into his shoulders as he started fucking into her.
Her legs wrapped around his waist as he pounded into her. She was screaming and clawing at everything she could. He was ruthless, almost animal-like. His mouth was on hers, then her neck, chest, and every part of skin he could reach. His hands were above her head as he looked down at her. He watched her face as her body took his cock perfectly. The way her cunt would clench around him, letting him feel the pulsing inside of her. Then her eyes would squeeze shut and her mouth would drop open with screams, moans, and whimpers.
Eddie wanted the van to shake. He wanted everyone to hear her. He wanted everyone to know she was getting fucked good by her boyfriend. He hoped Billy was still playing beer pong, he hoped Jason went outside for air, and he hoped Steve followed them outside. He wished more than anything they could see his van shake and know her tight cunt was getting fucked by him and him only.
His fingers went down to her clit, and that's when she saw stars. She screamed as she covered his cock in her cum. Her wetness making a mess everywhere and probably staining the carpet below them. She could feel Eddie in her stomach, his bulge showing as it moved inside her stomach. She pressed down on it, loving the way Eddie growled.
"Gonna fill this pretty pussy with all my cum. Gonna be dripping with my cum inside of you." He growled into her ear, he panted as he felt his balls tighten. His hot cum filled her as he bit down on her shoulder. She whimpered as her cunt grew sensitive and the extra hit of his teeth created marks on her delicate skin.
He slowly pumped himself dry inside of her, gently removing himself. He prepped her face with kisses and praise. Reaching for a spare towel he kept for these occasions. He gently wiped off her cunt, trying not to dive in for seconds as her cunt pulsed and gushed.
"If you were so jealous, you could've told me." She said with a breathy laugh. She was fucked out, barely felt anything.
Eddie looked up at her. She looked down at him with a fucked out, dazed look. A lazy smile on her face.
"Where's the fun in that?" Eddie winked
Yeah, so Eddie realizes he likes Steve when he saw him biting that bat and yeah, Steve realizes he likes Eddie when Eddie called him “big boy”
But the moment they realize they’re in love with the other? That’s what I want to focus on.
Steve falls in love first, because he always does and maybe he’s stupid for letting himself fall in love with Eddie so fast but it’s so easy. Eddie’s so easy to fall in love with, with his stupidly gorgeous hair, his creativity and kindness and resilience. Steve’s never met anyone like Eddie, with his pure uniqueness and weirdness, tied together with loveliness.
He realizes he’s in love with Eddie on a normal Tuesday night, they’re hanging out in Eddie’s room, doing separate things, but comfortable in each others presence. Music is playing softly in the back as Eddie scribbles on a notebook. Steve puts down the comic he’s been reading, trying to subtly watch Eddie and giving up. Eddie’s hair is up in a bun, eyebrows scrunched in concentration, pencil between his lips as he chews on it. He’s muttering to himself, whispering as he jots down new story lines for the new campaign.
Suddenly, Eddie jolts up, meeting Steve’s eyes. “I got it! I know how to end the campaign!” Eddie’s talking so fast, so animatedly, nothing’s loading up on Steve’s head because all he can think about is how Eddie’s eyes lit up in the orange fluorescent bulb, happiness sparkling in his brown eyes.
It’s a mundane, quiet Tuesday night and he wants this for the rest of his life.
The sky is blue, the grass is green and Steve Harrington is in love with Eddie Munson.
Eddie falls in love harder, because just like everything else in his life he goes hard in falling in love and maybe he’s stupid for falling in love so hard with Steve but it’s so easy. Steve’s the strongest, kindest and most generous person he’s ever met. Steve’s heart is a well, that gives and gives and gives to everyone he loves and he has so much love to give.
He realizes he’s in love with Steve on a Saturday night. The kids are in the living room, screaming and pointing at each other as they fight over monopoly properties. Robin, Nancy, Jon and Argyle are upstairs smoking weed. Eddie’s helping Steve clean up the mess from the dinner. There’s no music, no instrumental playing, just the kids screaming in the background and a few laughter from upstairs. Steve’s wearing an apron as he washes the dishes and as Eddie sweeps.
Suddenly, there’s music. Soft, sweet, almost like a lullaby. Eddie whips his head to look for where it’s coming from. His ears find Steve, singing as he dries the dishes. And god, Eddie wants to laugh and cry at the same time. Steve is singing Time After Time by Cyndi Lauper and it’s so far from Eddie’s usual genre but he wants it recorded on a cassette for his van so he can listen to it everyday.
It’s a hot Saturday night and he wants this for the rest of his life.
The sky is blue, the grass is green and Eddie Munson is in love with Steve Harrington.
When Eddie finally gets into drinking hot teas, Steve loses his goddamn mind. Goes to the store, buys every flavor he can find. Makes a little tea buffet with samples galore on his kitchen island. Even puts little labels out so Eddie knows the name of each one he tries.
Eddie drinks every tiny cup (pretends he’s a fucking giant while doing it) that Steve sets out for him. Goes down the line just sipping and humming in thought/delight. Steve excitedly watches from the adjacent countertop the whole time.
Once Eddie is done, Steve approaches him, hugging Eddie from behind and asking, “Do you have a favorite?”
And Eddie, being a indecisive pain in the ass just says, “All of them. All of them are my favorite, babe. What are you gonna do about that?”
Steve is so unfazed by Eddie’s little challenges by now. Just gets a Costco membership, spends the next day buying tea in bulk.
Eddie comes home to towers of cardboard boxes, some are nearly touching the ceiling. Steve has sectioned off the kitchen with a red ribbon tied to each side of the doorframe.
He limbos under the ribbon, holding an oversized pair of scissors.
“Uh? Babe?” Eddie asks gently. Cause ya know… Steve is holding scissors and looking diabolical. “What’s all this?”
“You couldn’t pick a favorite so I bought every flavor available.” Steve says it easily, like this isn’t batshit wild.
“Okay…”
Steve hands Eddie the scissors. “I call it Eddie’s Ci-Tea…. Get it? Like city but... with tea?”
Damnit, it’s so adorable when Steve makes up shitty puns. Eddie has to cover his smushy face in kisses now (carefully though, cause goddamn motherfucking scissors ugh).
“You’re way too loveable, Steve Harrington.” Eddie gushes, cutting the ribbon. Mayor of their weird little relationship.
Steve kisses Eddie’s cheek and he smells like a fucking spice factory from hauling tea around all day. So fucking yummy, Eddie wants to stir him up with one of those ridiculous little spoons. Make a piping-hot cup of Steve Tea that only he gets to drink up.
And as Eddie examines all the boxes, reading over all the different varieties, he remembers this is still a challenge. A game that he started. And he can’t let Steve just win because he’s rich and pretty, right? That would be too easy.
Eddie goes out of his way to make unnecessary shit difficult cause it’s his evil little side hustle. Some people have hobbies, Eddie Munson has schemes.
So he turns around, facing Steve (who is blissfully happy still), and plants a big kiss on his stupidly pink lips.
“It’s great and all, Stevie, but…”
Steve frowns. “But?”
Eddie pouts, but still gives a devilish wink when he says it:
“You forgot the honey.”
Steve kicks one of the towers, makes it look like the cardboard-version of that famous building in Italy. He grabs his keys and his Costco membership card, and storms out the front door.
Eddie is still laughing as he hears Steve swearing in the driveway. He begins boiling a kettle of water to make some Oolong tea while thinking:
‘I’m gonna marry my snobby pretty boyfriend, and we’re gonna serve all this goddamn tea at our wedding reception.’
this is the last update i had for this weekend. you can follow the tag #steddie lake fic if you wanna check for updates. thank you for reading <3
part 1 - part 2 - part 3 - part 4 - part 5 - part 6 - part 7 - part 8
Eddie sets up one of the picnic tables, using Argyle's gingham tablecloth and arranging the hot dogs and sandwiches he and Nancy prepared.
They find a glass water dispenser inside their cabin and Eddie makes lemonade to fill it and dumps all of the ice they bought in their last stop with it. He places that on the table too.
A soon as everything is ready, Nancy grabs some food and drinks and joins Robin and Argyle in their cards game, a few tables over.
Eddie's now heading in the opposite direction to have a cigarette while he pretends he's not watching Steve haul very heavy suitcases from his car to their cabin.
The cabin belongs to Steve's family. Steve played nice with his parents for months so they would let them all stay over this week: at the tail of summer, right before Nancy, Argyle and Jonathan leave Hawkins again, and Steve, Robin and Eddie go back to their jobs. At least until Robin figures out where she wants to go to school and drags the boys along with her.
Steve's been researching schools and cities with her, he wants the best for his platonic soulmate. He's sweet. He's also dead set on having Eddie come with them and he can be very persuasive.
Not that he needs to be, Eddie thinks, watching Steve lean into his trunk for what might be the last time in a bit, considering how empty it looks from afar.
Steve's rolled the sleeves of his white tee all the way up to the top, letting his biceps flex freely. He's wearing the light wash jeans that make his ass look like it's begging to be grabbed. There's sweat dripping everywhere. He shakes it off and runs his hands through his hair every now and then, and Eddie's mouth is producing way too much saliva.
Eddie takes a long drag from his cigarette and turns his back on the borderline wet dream that is Steve Harrington, facing the lake again.
As he looks at the water and listens to the birds, Eddie goes through one and a half cigarettes, lost in thoughts of hazel eyes.
After a while, he hears steps approaching him from behind for the second time today.
This time, he turns before they reach him and sees Steve walking the las few paces until he's within earshot.
He's so sweaty.
"All done, big guy?" Eddie asks, a little breathless as he watches him approach.
Steve' face is all red, probably from the heat. He scoffs,
"You're like two inches taller than me" he says,
"Oh, you've noticed" Eddie teases with a lopsided grin,
"Shut up" Steve laughs "My hair makes up for it",
"Hmm" Eddie hums, refraining from making a comment on Steve's hair.
He pulls out his cigarette pack and offers it to Steve, assuming that's why he made a beeline for him and not the food.
"Want one?" Eddie asks,
Steve shakes his head "Yeah, but no" he says,
Eddie frowns, confused, holding his own cigarette with his mouth while he occupies his hands with putting the pack back in his pocket.
His eyes are also focused on this task, so he doesn't see Steve reaching out, taking the cigarette right out of Eddie's mouth.
Eddie feels his eyes go wide as plates and he slowly looks up to find Steve smoking his cigarette, looking out at the lake.
Holy shit.
Eddie blinks himself outta his shock. "Oh," he says, stupidly.
Steve looks back at him, searches for something in his eyes and smiles. The twinkle in his eyes only registers when Eddie watches him lean into his space once more, and take Eddie's bandana out of his back pocket this time, using it to wipe the sweat off his brow.
What?!
Eddie goes right past shock and into indignation.
"Hey!" he protests,
"Can I use this?" Steve asks around Eddie's cigarette, and way too late, too, "I'm using it" he states, in the bitchy tone he uses sometimes, the one that makes Eddie weak in the knees.
"I can see that!" Eddie tells him, trying to contain his indignant (going on giddy) laughter, "You're gross", Eddie says, like he wouldn't lick the sweat off Steve if he were allowed.
Steve just laughs at him, looking so beautiful, like right out of a magazine. Eddie lets himself hope for a split second.
"Did you just come here to take my stuff?" he asks Steve, mostly to stop himself from leaning in to bite the moles on his cheeks. He also kicks Steve's shin softly, just to make him laugh again. He succeeds.
"Maybe", Steve says, blowing smoke to the side and then offering the cigarette back to Eddie, raising his eyebrows expectantly.
What. Is happening.
Eddie rolls his eyes but accepts the offer.
"Yuck." he says dramatically, keeping his eyes on Steve, putting the cigarette back in his mouth and failing miserably at hiding his smile.
Steve watches him do it and laughs, something mischievous and delighted, then begins rolling Eddie's bandana, supporting the motion on his thigh and then reaching up to tie the result around his head.
God. What the fuck.
"You're stealing from me now?", Eddie accuses, shocked.
Steve snorts, "Borrowing", he clarifies, "I'll clean it and give it back to you", he says, like he's proud of it.
Is he fucking flirting with me?
Eddie rolls his eyes again and tries to hide his shocked smile once more. Fails.
"Or would you rather I give it to you all sweaty like this?" Steve asks, somehow sounding both dirty and completely rhetorical.
Jesus fucking -
"Ha!" Eddie says, shoving Steve's shoulder. "You have to get permission to borrow something, Steve",
"I did! I just did!" Steve protests,
"Did I say yes?" Eddie counters,
Steve pulls out his puppy eyes, the bastard, aiming them at Eddie with full force.
"Can I please use your bandana, Eddie?" Steve asks "Eds?" he adds, switching to a nickname almost as an afterthought.
Eddie's going to die of a heart attack, one of these days.
In fact, he probably already did. Yeah, he died and went to heaven, it seems.
"I can't stand you." he tells Steve, squinting.
It makes Steve dissolve into laughter again and Eddie basks in the sound as he stubs his cigarette.
"Yeah, you can use it", Eddie finally gives in, "since you already are, you menace. Come on.", he invites, already walking back toward the food table, leaving Steve behind, trying to regain some of the balance in their interaction,
"I made lemonade" he calls back to Steve, and listens as the other boy catches up.
When Steve's at his side again, Eddie turns to look at him.
"Let's get you something that's actually for you, for a change" Eddie quips.
Steve throws his head back as he laughs.
💘 for the ask game? Might have a preference for the dare kiss if the inspo strikes you... 👀
Inspo did, in fact, strike me (thank you for the prompt!)
💘 fake relationship / mutual pining / dared to kiss
Prompt from this post
CW: alcohol use
Eddie doesn’t know whose brilliant idea this was, but they owe him for emotional damages.
Like–
Look, Eddie had really only ever attended high school parties as a dealer, had had very little interest in them otherwise, and thus has never played any of those cheap excuses for a chance to swap spit that they called games. Not truth or dare, not seven minutes in heaven, and not—Eddie watches in dizzy fascination as the empty beer bottle twirls and twirls in the center of the circle—spin the bottle.
Except someone had suggested it, and the rest of them had been just drunk enough to decide it was a great idea and join in.
Except Eddie is pretty sure this game is supposed to be played with classmates you don’t really know; people you barely remember in the morning and whose eyes you can avoid in the hallways at school on the following Monday – not two girls Eddie helped save the world with, the boyfriend of one of the aforementioned girls (and possibly the boyfriend of the aforementioned boyfriend? Eddie’s not sure what’s going on there), three guys he’s been friends with since middle school, and–
–the bottle stops, and Robin lets out a whoop. It’s pointing to the spot directly to Eddie’s right, the spot filled with none other than–
Steve Harrington.
The current bane of Eddie’s existence, with his stupid, pretty face and his stupid, soft-looking hair and his stupid, dry sense of humor and the way he’s stupidly sweet to Eddie and the way he’s smiling at stupid, stupid Eddie right now, who has a stupid, embarrassing crush on the guy, and now Eddie has to kiss him because the beer bottle says so. It’s the law, or something.
Eddie swears he hasn’t actually had that much to drink; he’s pretty sure proximity to Steve just does this to his brain.
Steve keeps smiling at him, amused, eyebrows raised expectantly. “Well?” he goads gently, elbowing Eddie in the side. “You gonna back down, or are you gonna kiss me, Munson?”
And– okay, one, Eddie has never backed down from a dare in his life, mostly because he operates on at least seventy-five percent impulsive thought power, and two, there’s no way Eddie isn’t going to take the chance to kiss Steve. It might not be the way he wants, but it also might be the only chance he’s going to get, so he turns and curves a hand at the side of Steve’s jaw—to steady Steve or to steady himself or maybe because he just wants to touch—and leans in and presses his lips to Steve’s.
And he tries to keep it PG, alright? He tries to keep it close-mouthed and soft, as easy and meaningless as the short kiss Robin had laid on him a few moments ago that had made it his turn to spin the bottle in the first place – he tries, but then someone (maybe Gareth? Hard to say, the world outside of Steve and Eddie has gone a little wishy-washy) shouts, “You call that a kiss?” and, well–
Eddie’s never backed down from a dare in his life.
(And if this is the only opportunity he’s going to have to kiss Steve, he figures he might as well milk it for all it’s worth.)
So he tilts his head, and parts his lips, and finds that Steve’s tongue is already there, hot and wet and licking into his mouth like he’s starving for it, teasing Eddie’s tongue back into his own mouth and sucking, and–
Eddie pulls back before the embarrassing noise he can feel building up in his chest can work its way free. He blinks at Steve, who is staring right back, eyes wide and starry, pupils blown, his mouth still hanging open a little as he pants for air, his bottom lip full and shiny in a way that makes Eddie want to dive right back in and bite him a little bit.
In fact, he’s very close to doing just that until someone’s voice breaches their little bubble.
“Well, Steve?” Robin prods, sounding far too amused for anyone’s good. “Are you gonna take your turn?”
“Nah.” Steve shakes his head, eyes still trained on Eddie as he stands up. “I think I’m out. Eddie?”
Eddie’s on his feet before Steve can even finish saying his name. “Right behind you.”
And then Steve is smiling again, eager and maybe—dare Eddie think it—a little smitten, and he grabs Eddie’s hand to drag him somewhere a little more private, somewhere away from the catcalls coming at them from the circle of friends they’re leaving behind, who Eddie pays absolutely no mind to because finding the nearest clear surface he can crowd Steve against feels more important.
Eddie doesn’t know whose brilliant idea spin the bottle was, but he owes them a goddamn fruit basket.
Part One
Here’s the thing about the kids.
Mike can be downright squirrely when he wants to be.
The guy is all long-limbs and ever-changing moods, and the second he spots Steve he vanishes around the corner and leaves no trace of himself behind.
Dustin, similarly, is catty.
The kid’s not fast, but when cornered, he has a tendency to do the most insane, ridiculous things.
Currently Steve is ninety percent sure he just saw him jump out a window, and the only reason it’s not one hundred is because his eyesight isn’t the greatest these days, and it’s entirely possible Dustin found something to put that stupid Weird Al shirt on and threw that out the window instead,
It wouldn’t be the first time that’s happened.
Knowing this, Steve automatically goes for the easiest target: Lucas.
See, Lucas is, of course, the most athletic and the only one likely to give Steve a run for his money should he too, decide to bolt.
He also was the most likely to stop and actually talk to Steve, because unlike his friends, he possessed some emotional maturity.
Or just maturity in general.
“Come on Luc, what’s going on?” Steve calls out, the second he rounds the corner and spots the kids. “You’re freaking me out.”
That makes Lucas stop and come to him, while the other two dipshits bolt.
Steve leans against a wall, eyebrow raised as Lucas slinks forward, but knows instantly from the grin the kid’s trying to hide that whatever’s going on right now, is their usual kind of bullshit.
(An internal part of him, the part that has to deal with the unusual bullshit every six months or so, sighs in relief.)
“Okay, you have to swear not to be mad.” Lucas starts, which is never a good sign, but at least it’s coming from Steve’s second most trustworthy kid.
(Will still holds first place, after the time he ratted out Mike for dumping nail polish all over Max’s jacket.
“She was super rude, but she didn’t deserve that.” Will had said with a stubborn set to his jaw.
Steve had ruffled his hair and together they had plotted a way to get revenge on Mike without letting Max outright murder him.)
“We uh, might have heard that you were being auctioned off tonight.”
Which was not at all where Steve thought this was going to go.
“Okay?” He hedges, waiting to see where Lucas spills the part that makes Steve worry.
“So you played D&D with Erica and Dustin, and neither of them will stop bragging about it.” Lucas says, a slight pink coloring his cheeks, “--and Mike won’t say it, but I know it bothers him too so we thought we could, uh, buy you. For the day.”
Lucas sends out his gigawatt grin, the one he uses when he’s trying to be his most charming. “To make you play D&D with us.”
Something warm and soft blooms in Steve’s heart. A kind of love he’d never had before hauling the little shits out of the line of fire the first time.
These kids were gonna be the death of him, he just knew it.
“If you ever tell the others I said this I will deny it ” Steve says, pulling out his wallet and forking out a handful of twenties. “But I would be happy to play your dungeons and dipshits game with you.”
Lucas doesn’t even correct him as he accepts the money with a grin--a real one this time. “Really?” He says, and it's so stupidly hopefully it makes Steve’s heart squeeze.
He reaches out, pulling the kid in for a hug for a second. Claps him on the back a few times before pushing fondly at his head.
“Over being taken on a date by some middle aged woman? Absolutely. But like I said,” He playfully shoves Lucas away, “You tell anyone and I will deny, deny, deny.”
“Sure Steve, whatever.” Lucas says, before running off to go find his friends.
Steve watches him go for a moment, smile on his face, before turning back to the gym.
He’d rather play D&D with the kids any day over dealing with this farce.
(The shocking thing, he finds himself thinking as he wanders over to where the other dates are situated, is that he means it. Even if a hot, beautiful girl bid on him--he’d rather spend the day with the kids.
Doesn’t that just say something about his life these days?)
xXx Eddie xXx
His club was going to kill him.
Normally, missing a game would be downright heresy. Betrayal of the highest order, particularly considering he’s the damn dungeon master. Sure, other people can DM, but not for the current ongoing campaign, which means Eddie landing his sorry ass in detention disrespected the sanctity of both his club and his people.
A fact he will need to beg on hands and knees to makeup for.
The siren song of the microphone, nevermind the idea of having an honest to god stage to prowl around on at lunch was simply too much for Eddie to resist, particularly when it came to his anti-Valentines Day speech.
Not that he was the type of guy to roll his eyes at all the lovey-dovey crap floating around, but more that people could be so stupid about it.
…and maybe he was a little bit jealous.
Eddie convinces himself it’s fine. He plans to have a session for the missed game on Sunday, when he knows his friends had planned to hang out at his place anyway.
Still feels bad about it as he walks down the halls of Hawkin’s high, annoyed that detention took as long as it did.
There’s people milling around, in the kind of stupid dressed up clothes that wasn’t formal, but could be described by evil words like “business casual.” The best skirts and knitted tops, slacks for the men paired with button up shirts or polos.
Like a fucking swarm of Steve Harrington’s--without any of the guys charm.
Not that he had any charm.
Definitely not.
Eddie gives an overactive shudder to clear his head, making his way out of the school as fast as he can.
Because life, the universe and everything in it hates him, he’s interrupted.
“Eddie! Oh thank god, look guys it’s Eddie!”
For the briefest of seconds after hearing Henderson’s voice, Eddie’s worried no one thought to tell the kids that Hellfire had been canceled.
Or, considering Eddie’s over the top response to the first time one of them had tried to miss a campaign night, they might be worried he’s dying (rather than simply an “unbearable idiot” as Jeff had called him earlier.)
His freshman lambs quickly swarm him, three pairs of eyes staring with weird amounts of hope (Sinclair, Henderson) and awkward embarrassment (Wheeler.)
“Eddie! Eddie, they're only letting Juniors and Seniors place the actual bets!” Dustin sounds frantic, practically vibrating in place before him. “They won’t let any of us bid on Steve!”
Any fondness Eddie felt evaporates in a puff of vexed smoke.
“That sounds like a you problem.” He challenges, raising an eyebrow.
For once, the freshmen don’t cringe back.
Instead he’s treated to steel sliding across Henderon’s face, Sinclair right behind him and Mike, who refuses to meet Eddie’s eyes, but stands with his friends anyway.
“Come on, think of all the chaos it’ll cause!” Dustin is pleading, his hands waving in the air in a way that reminds Eddie of himself. “Isn’t that like, you’re whole thing? Going against ‘the Man’!?”
Yes, because publicly buying Harrington for a date in front of Hawkin’s self-proclaimed elite was a great way to stick it to ‘the Man’, instead of, say, painting yet another target on his back.
“I don’t think getting into a bidding war over taking Steve Harrington on a date is going to go over well.” He deadpans.
Dustin throws his hands in the air. “It doesn’t have to be a date! ”
“Jennifer’s mom’s friends bid on her. For a girls night.” Mike adds so quietly it takes a minute for the words to process.
“Just saying!” He adds frantically, as though Eddie is going to call him out for this betrayal.
Considering the downright fearful look he’s wearing, Eddie might just do it for shits and giggles in his next campaign.
“We’re begging you, don’t you want to see Steve play D&D? We promise you can even watch the whole thing and embarrass him or whatever!” Dustin continues, hands clasped together in front of him.
“There you idiots are.” A judgey, annoyed voice calls, cutting into the conversation.
Eddie has never met Sinclair Jr. but immediately assumes the girl walking towards them with her arms firmly on her hips must be her “Steve’s up next, idiots. I know you know how auctions work, so I shouldn't have to remind you about having to physically be in the room to bid on him.”
She stops, cocking her head challengingly. “Unless one of you is going to call in from a payphone?”
Cheeky.
Eddie loves cheeky.
Even if she is eleven.
Muted calls ring out again from the gym. Apparently Hawkin’s middle aged women have started their fight for a day spent with one of the “young, local heroes”.
The very thought of Steve, all scraped up in the stupid Scoop’s Ahoy sailor uniform, guiding kid’s out of the mallfire with his broad chest and buff arms and--
“Eddie.” Dustin whines, bouncing frantically in place.
‘Head out of the gutter, Munson!’ He thinks, annoyed at himself (and perhaps, a little bit more understanding of the ladies shouting out numbers in the gym).
“Do you still only have five dollars?” He says, and it's not defeat, not yet, but he can see the hope reignite in their eyes.
This was stupid. A stupid, stupid, stupid idea!
“We have a hundred now.” Lucas says firmly, which is at least a lot more than five.
The calls from the gym are playful but there’s a catty undertone now. Those women really want that date with Steve, and Eddie knows walking in there, bidding on Harrington is a death sentence.
Dustin’s done something to his eyes. They’re wide, shined over like he’s about to cry. Like this fucking matters to him.
It drills into Eddie in a way he hates. How the three of them, (even Mike who is still trying his best not to act like he wants this) are handing him all their dreams. He’s someone they look up to, someone who can make things happen, and he’s always liked that feeling--but this?
This was asking a lot.
“Eddie man, please. You’re our only hope.” Dustin says it softly, and goddamn him, it’s like he knows Eddie is weak for this shit. That under all his leather and chains that he cares.
About them.
He just wishes what they didn’t care about was fucking Steve Harrington.
He knows they think the guy hung the moon. Just as he knows he'll need more than money to fend off the competition and actually win Steve: he'll need a plan.
Knows, even, just how he’ll do it.
“Baby Sinclair, a word?” He crooks a finger, walking a few paces backwards as a plan rapidly forms.
She flicks her eyes over to him, and with an appraisal that says she had already judged him and found him lacking. “It’s Erica.”
Eddie bows low to her, arm brushing the floor. “My deepest apologies, Lady Erica.”
She rolls her eyes but comes over anyway and lets Eddie whisper in her ear.
xXx
If there's one thing Eddie is good at, it's presentation.
The gym doors are already open so there’s nothing he can throw or kick dramatically to announce his presence. Instead, Eddie settles for wading through the crowded tables until he’s dead center to the stage.
Steve stands upon it, a smile in place that reads fake as hell--but considering the sheer amount of wine glasses on all the tables Eddie doesn’t think anyone else clocks it. At least, not anyone who can legally drink anyway.
Erica, bless her, manages to swipe an auction paddle and hand it to Eddie. With a cocked hip, he holds it straight into the air..
"One-fifty!" He calls, causing a wave of heads to twist his way.
“What the hell.” Jason hisses, launching to his feet. Chrissy pulls at his elbow, but he throws her off with a quick jerk, staring furiously from his spot with the other “dates.”
"This is a charity event, Munson. This isn’t time for one of your pranks!” He speaks in the kind of loud, surefire way that screams authority and draws eyes from around the room.
Eddie was prepared for it.
“Jason,” he gasps, paddle going over his heart in mock outrage, “this isn’t a prank! I’m here on behalf of the children.”
The stare he gets would have fit better on an enraged bull.
(The bull, Eddie reasons, would have been smarter.)
“What children!?” Jason spits and Eddie couldn’t have planned a better entrance if he’d paid the moron to say all the shit he just had.
Erica, playing her part like the champion she was, steps out from behind Eddie and waves.
"Steve helped me escape during the mallfire.” She announces, loud enough to be heard throughout the gym.
She takes another step forward, all eyes on her and makes herself look smaller somehow.
Younger.
“I just--" she cuts herself off, eyes welling with unshed tears as she bites her lip. "I just would love it if Steve played some club games with us. Please?"
Her voice breaks on the word ‘games’ and Eddie has to hand it to her--girl’s a rising star.
"Are you shitting me?!" Jason protests, but is shushed loudly by the mother at the table nearest to him. Chrissy finally succeeds in getting her boyfriend to sit back down, his face a glorious shade of red.
If Eddie had known he was going to get to embarrass Carver out of this, he would have agreed a lot sooner.
“One-fifty going once!” The auctioneer calls, and Erica takes a hesitant step forward.
“One-fifty going twice!” He calls again, and there’s a hush in the gym everyone collectively holding their breath.
“Sold!” He calls out, after a too long pause.
Erica lets out a loud sob (slightly over-acted but Eddie will give it to her) and runs up the stairs of the stage, leaping at Steve.
He catches her in a crushing hug, applause and whistles following what has to be every mother in the damn place letting out an “awww.”
Eddie manages not to gag, but only because he still has his showman smile in place.
Steve descends the stairs, Erica holding his hand until the next “date” is called to the stage. She leans in to whisper something to him and Eddie gets to watch Steve smother bark of laughter with a cough as Erica casually skips off.
"How much did Erica charge you for that little show?" Steve asks quietly as he comes up to Eddie, the two of them heading to the cashier.
“She wants me to paint her a bunch of signs for her girl scout troop. Then swear to buy ten boxes of cookies.”
Steve shakes his head, a soft smile on his face. "Consider yourself lucky. She nailed me with free ice cream for life once."
"Damn." Eddie whistles.
"I know the kids probably put you up to this, but I appreciate it." Steve continues, sounding outright relieved as they stand in line together to pay.
Eddie gives him a look. "You're happy that I won." He says.
It’s not a question.
“Absolutely I am a man, did you see some of the women bidding on me?” Steve shudders, making a horrified face that Eddie can’t not laugh at.
"What if I really did want to go on a date, Stevie?" He teases, knocking his shoulder into the former jock’s. “And the whole thing with Mini Sinclair was just a way to do it?”
Steve goes with the movement, clearly taken aback. Eddie begins to grin, clasping his hands under his chin and batting his eyelashes. Waits for the negative reaction he knew was coming.
He doesn’t get it.
Instead, Steve's face melted into something downright sinful.
“Then I’d still be coming out ahead, Munson.” Steve’s voice drops low, leaning in a bit to make his words private. “It’d be fun to use the ol’ Harrington charm on you.”
Eddie swallows once, twice.
His throat bops as he tries to make it work, before finally managing to spit out "For the record, I am immune to any and all charms.”
“That’s what they all say.” Steve says, then winks.
Fucking.
Winks.
At him!
“Whatever.” He scoffs. Steps up to pay, because it’s finally his turn, and listens as the woman behind the counter explains that as part of the rules of the auction: all dates must be redeemed by the end of the weekend.
Is followed by Harrington, who turns a smile onto the women behind the table.
“Not a problem.” Steve tells her, and while it doesn’t seem like he's using that “Harrington Charm” that totally had not made Eddie blush scarlet, the cashier is clearly enamored anyway.
“Thank you for bidding on him for those kids.” She tells Eddie, as Steve leans a hip against the table.
“Eddie here is a true gentleman.” Steve says, turning his grin back towards him and thank god his hair covers his ears because Eddie knows they’re fucking bright red too. “The kids adore him just as much as me.”
“I bet that little girl is just thrilled that he won.” The cashier continues, and Eddie would bet all his teeth that Erica would rather fight a bear than be referred to as a “little girl.”
“Uh-huh.” Eddie manages, voices several octaves higher than normal.
Looks away, as he’s handed the receipt so he doesn't have to face the fact that he paid for a date with Steve Harrington.
That he'd made just as much of a show as Eddie had and fucking flirted with him after.
It didn't matter that they'd both done this for the kids.
This shit was gonna be the hottest gossip topic for all those annoying church ladies, he just knew it.
(“The little shits even talked me into DMing the game!” He howls into the phone to Gareth, after Eddie had gone home, screamed into his pillow, and then frantically called his best friend.
"At least you can make date related jokes." Gareth replies, and he keeps swearing he’s not laughing, but he is, the traitor.
“That makes things worse, not better, Gare!”)
once october hits and the weather turns cold, steve, eddie, robin, and nancy deicde to go to a pumpkin patch.
it's robin's idea, as she reads about the opening of one nearby and gets excited about going and indulging in all things fall.
steve pulls out his favorite chunky knit sweater (eddie touches it once when he first sees steve, then cant stop petting it throughout the rest of their trip because "it's so soft, man"). nancy's got her giant knit scarf looped around her neck at least three times (by the end of the night she'll be sharing it with robin). and eddie and robin unintentionally match in their flannels — eddie's topped with his leather jacket, robin's with her jean jacket.
they go with the intention of hunting for the perfect pumpkins to carve; but when they get to the pumpkin patch they see that it's so much more than just a pumpkin patch. there are stands with gourds, and apples, and squashes, and all kinds of fall fruits and veggies. there are craft stalls set up too, people selling homemade jewelry or candles or tie-dyed t-shirts or wooden carvings and the like.
there's a wooden cabin with a full baking kitchen and display cases of all sorts of baked goods: turnovers of all sorts, apple pies, pecan pies, berry pies, caramel apples, apple donuts, fudge. they sell apple cider, hot and cold, at the counter too.
at the entrance to the pumpkin patch area there are some wooden photo stand-ins, one of two scarecrows standing next to each other, one of three pumpkins in a wooden wheelbarrow, and one of a sunflower. nancy brought her polaroid, so they all take turns sticking their faces into the cutouts. she snaps one photo of steve and robin in the scarecrows, another of steve, robin, and eddie in the pumpkins, one of robin in the sunflower. steve takes the polaroid from her and insists nancy and eddie take a turn in the scarecrows, so they do. they robin catches nancy by surprise, curling her arms around her from behind, tucking her chin over nancy's shoulders, and steve snaps a photo of that too.
in the pumpkin patch itself, they search for the perfect pumpkin. eddie had a very specific criteria for his — it's got to be a big one with a good face to carve into; it's got to make a good sound when he knocks on it; it's got to be orange enough; it can't be rotten; there needs to be a stem. steve picks up pumpkin after pumpkin, holding each out to eddie with a raised eyebrow. each one gets a full inspection, but eddie always finds something wrong with them. "it's too skinny, there's not enough room to carve anything good." "steve, the whole underside is rotted, did you even look at it!" "mm, no, it doesn't have a stem." it's a little ridiculous, steve thinks, but he can't say he isn't having fun with it. sometimes he picks one that very obviously doesn't fit eddie's criteria on purpose — he likes the look eddie gives him each time, something fondly, affectionately annoyed. and if that also gets eddie to stick more closely to steve's side since steve can't seem to figure it out, that's just a bonus.
after they find their pumpkins, they hit the bakery. nancy gets a blackberry turnover, robin orders a dozen apple donuts ("i need some to take home, steve! these things are the best!"), eddie gets a caramel apple, and steve orders a slice of apple pie. he also gets some assorted fudge to bring back for the kids. they all get cups of hot apple cider too.
robin and nancy share their pastries, sitting close and swapping bites. eddie nearly gets his hair stuck in the caramel, and steve just laughs. eddie laughs back at him when steve spoons up a particularly big chunk of apple filling and it slips off the end of the spoon and right into his lap. he says it's karma. then holds up his apple, grinning stupidly, and says "or should i say... caramel." it's a terrible joke, but it makes steve laugh anyways as he tries to clean himself off.
robin asks nancy if she wants to go on the hay ride and nancy says yes but also jokes that robin is stealing steve's move because he used to always take his dates on the hay ride as an excuse to cuddle up to them. this, of course, makes steve flush bright red because not five minutes earlier he'd asked eddie if he wanted go on the hay ride. eddie had said yes, and steve did have every intention of using said hay ride as an excuse to cuddle up to him, thanks very much nancy.
they sit close on the hay bales in the back of the wagon, thighs pressed together, arms brushing. steve rests his arm against the side of the wagon behind eddie, feels eddie shift closer, sees the smile pulling at his mouth out of the corner of his eyes.
one of the tires ends up popping on the tractor pulling the wagon, so everyone unloads and starts the trek back through the apple trees on foot. robin loops her arm through nancy's and off they go, following the crowd. steve elects to hang back a little, waiting for the crowd to disperse, leaving him and eddie to their lonesome.
eddie jokes that steve orchestrated the whole thing to get him alone.
steve laughs, takes a step closer to eddie. backs him up against one of the apple trees. steve doesn't know where the sudden confidence is coming from, but he's grateful for it as he takes eddie's jaw into his hand, cups his palm to it's curve and draws eddie in, bringing their lips together.
he kisses him — the way he's wanted to all day. the way he's wanted to for months now.
eddie tastes like tangy apples and sweet caramel. his mouth is warm and responsive, his tongue soft and insistent against steve's.
when they part, eddie laughs, bright and happy, fingers gripping the front of steve's sweater in a bunch.
the two of them make their way back to the pumpkin patch, fingers twisted together at their sides. they spot robin and nancy, sitting on one of the benches together, nancy's scarf looped around both of their necks — just like steve predicted it'd be. when robin and nancy spot them back, robin's eyes go wide and she claps her hands together, pointing out their clasped hands to nancy, who smiles knowingly.
"you two get a little lost back there?" she asks, raising an eyebrow.
steve laughs, flushes pink. he glances over at eddie, leans into his side more, swings their hands a little. "something like that," he answers.
"you had the right idea, roping us into coming here, buckley," eddie chimes in.
"glad to be of service," robin salutes, grinning salaciously.
and yeah, it was the right idea, steve thinks.
they just might have to make this a tradition.
You swore 💔
Part 1
Half socmed half fic where Steve gets more than he bargained for when he starts cheating on his girlfriend with the hot cashier from the boutique near his job. inspired by this post
Tumblr media
Everyone in town knew Billy Hargrove, the part time lifeguard at Hawkins Pool. Steve never expected to get up close and personal with this guy before learning he also worked at a small denim boutique near Family Video.
Steve stopped in on payday to buy a new pair of jeans and spotted the hot lifeguard as he was folding some bootcut jeans.
It was a small boutique, so only one employee was necessary, and it just so happened to be Billy.
“Hey, welcome. Need some help?” He smiled, a strikingly charming smile.
“Just looking.” Steve responded with a soft grin of his own, shopping around the boutique to find the perfect fit of jeans.
He found a pair in his size, lifting them to examine them more closely.
“Oh, you don’t want those.” Billy mentioned.
“No? Why not?”
Billy set down the pair he was folding, approaching Steve. “Pretty boy like you should get a pair that hugs that ass just right, y’know? You don’t want anything loose and unflattering. The wrong fit could ruin your whole ensemble.”
Steve’s heart skipped a beat. Pretty boy? Did he just call him that and mention his ass?
Now, Steve had yet to realize his admiration for attractive men was more than admiration. It took him being infatuated with Billy to learn this about himself.
He let Billy select the perfect pair of jeans for him and he tried them on, looking at his ass in the mirror.
“See? That’s what I’m talkin' about.” Billy gave a nod of approval. “If you’re happy with them, I’ll ring you up.”
“O-oh. Yeah. Sure.” Steve agreed to buy the pair and left that boutique shaking like a leaf.
What really did him in was the way their hands briefly touched when Billy placed the receipt in his hand and asked him to come again.
Steve took it as an invitation and did just that the following week.
He walked in, deciding he suddenly needed a new shirt. What he really needed was another interaction with Billy.
“Back again, Bambi?” Billy smiled as the new pet name rolled off his tongue.
Steve smirked and nodded, trying to avoid looking at Billy’s glistening, muscular arms in that lifeguard tank top and the sexy, messy bun his curls were tucked into.
“I’m just here to buy a shirt.” Steve answered. “Any suggestions?”
“We have some cotton polos on the wall.” He pointed. “Those look good on you under your work vest.”
There was that smile again.
“You think so?”
“I know so. I’ve got an eye for that. Unless you wanna try something different?” He took a step towards Steve, closing the distance between them.
Billy was the something different Steve wanted to try.
He glanced down at Steve’s jeans, smirking at his hardly concealed bulge. “They look good on you. Show off all your assets.” They locked eyes as Billy bit his bottom lip.
Steve could feel his body heating up, stupidly unaware of the face he made as his mouth hung open, drool nearly dribbling from the sides of his mouth.
“I uh…I’ve got something in the back you could try, but only if you’re interested.”
Steve pushed his bangs off his forehead, nodding without a second thought. He knew what Billy was implying. He wanted to try something new for sure.
Billy locked the door and put a “Back in 30 minutes” sign in the window, then led Steve to the back room.
He pushed Steve against the wall, kissing his neck as he unbuttoned his jeans and slowly unzipped them.
Steve’s entire body trembled as Billy made his way down to his cock, taking him into his mouth and sucking him like there was no tomorrow.
Billy’s blue eyes stared into Steve’s soul as he slurped on his cock and Steve was in disbelief.
He grabbed hold of Billy’s bun, bucking his hips and gently thrusting into his hot, wet mouth.
“Oh…shit.” He whispered.
This had to be a dream. It had to. He hardly knew this guy, but the amount of sexual tension between them was insane. There was no way he would have been able to go home and forget about him.
If his cock wasn’t down Billy’s throat, he would be back home right now jerking it. He pushed the thoughts of Billy and his pretty smile away until he just couldn’t take it anymore.
This was the most exciting, most exhilarating experience of Steve’s life. His cock hardened and swelled in Billy’s mouth and he moaned so desperately, like it’d been months since he had sex.
He was only with Nancy 2 days ago, and yet, he couldn’t stop himself from craving Billy.
“I’m gonna cum…ah, shit.” He spilled into Billy’s mouth, whining and shaking as he swallowed it all up, continuing to suck until there was nothing left.
Billy slowly pulled away and looked at him. “Still need a shirt?” He asked, only to be answered with a small nod.
Billy picked out a shirt for Steve and asked him to come again, but more demanding than last week.
So Steve did return the following week, and the week after that.
And each week they’d go into the back room and do something nasty that Steve could never do with Nancy.
“You should come to my house.” Steve suggested in a whisper as his hand was wrapped around their cocks, jerking them together as they sucked each other’s tongues.
“Oh yeah? What’ll happen if I come to your house?” Billy asked.
“All kinds of stuff.” Steve smiled. “We’ll be all alone, just like we are now, except in my nice, comfy bed.”
“Can I spend the night with you, pretty boy?” Billy asked softly, moaning as his orgasm grew nearer. “Ride you til the sun rises?”
Steve knew it was risky, but one glance into those pretty blue eyes, and he was willing to risk it all. “Course you can, baby.”
“Mmm…gonna cum.”
“Me too.”
They shared a kiss, one more gentle than lustful as they shared an orgasm.
Steve knew keeping this up was a bad idea, but he didn’t have any idea how bad it would be until it went on for a little too long.
Steve started inviting Billy over on days he knew Nancy would be too busy, which was a lot of days, but still risky as hell. Steve kind of liked how dangerous this was, but eventually he started to kind of like Billy, and his feelings were all mixed up in a mess.
For 2 months, Steve and Billy were fucking and texting regularly, and when they cuddled after sex the last time, Steve knew he had to come clean with Billy before he got the wrong idea.
The night before they planned to see each other again, Steve texted Billy, deciding to tell him the truth.
Tumblr media
It’s a small town. Steve just assumed Billy already knew about Nancy.
Tumblr media
“Shit.” Steve said aloud, throwing himself onto his bed. “No. No. I gotta tell him.”
Tumblr media
He didn't want to fuck this up. In all his years with Nancy, he never felt anything quite like what he felt with Billy, and he just didn't want to let that go.
Tumblr media
That was Steve’s mistake.
Steve had yet to learn how spiteful Billy was. And, oh, was he about to fucking learn.
The bed was shockingly comfy as you collapsed into it, the back of your head bandaged up carefully, the sting of peroxide on it still lingering and making your head throb, small steri-strips lined your cheek and along the back of your neck. You'd somehow convinced Steve that the one on your side didn't need them too, mostly out of embarrassment that you would be exposing yourself more than you already had to the kind man. He had insisted that you slept in the bed that night however, putting his foot down that it was the least you could do for him to be well-rested.
Dinner had been pizza ordered in, it was thick and stodgy, with Steve grumbling under his breath that things were so expensive nowadays and that he was sure that when Freddy's had been open it had better pizza. Even though you didn't want to think of that place, the comments had made you laugh and smile, and you felt your cheeks heating up as he stole glances at you when he thought you weren't looking.
Curling up onto your side, you placed one arm under the pillow, you couldn't help but breathe deeply and smile as you realised the pillows smelled like cologne, burying your face into it and allowing your eyes to flutter closed as you held it close against your body. The weight of the duvet against your smaller body was reassuring, gentle and made you feel safe despite being in a relative stranger's bed and soon the moonlight slowly rising through the window and onto the covers became blurred as your eyes fluttered closed and sleep consumed your exhausted body and mind.
~~
Steve Raglan had other ideas on how to spend his night however, and as soon as he heard the heavy breathing on the other side of his door to tell him that you had fallen asleep, he carefully prised open the door and let his eyes adjust to the moonlight for a moment. The wind outside had begun to shift the trees into a gentle rustle, and he couldn't help but smirk as he padded into the room, having pulled on a grey sweater at some point in the evening to fight off the chill and to save all the blood in your body from collecting in your cheeks. Although he did find it amusing that he seemingly had such a profound effect on his new little toy.
Carefully placing his footsteps, Raglan sat on the windowsill and disrupted the light behind him, crossing his ankles as he reached into his pocket on the sweatpants and pulled out a pocket knife. The handle old and worn, but well taken care of with the name 'Afton' inscribed in cursive on the hilt in once gold lettering, but as he flicked his wrist and allowed the blade to click into place, it glinted with a wicked sharpness that made the man smile gleefully.
With a practised skill, he began to click the blade back into place with his index finger, twirling the now closed blade in his fingers before flicking it open again with a snap of his wrist. The motion was smooth, clearly well practised and rehearsed many times as he avoided his fingers each time. Letting the sound of your deep breaths and the 'click' of the blade locking into place and folding back again fill his ears to the symphony of the wind outside.
"It would be easy to clean up if I slit your throat right here, you know." He murmured to the darkness, letting his low voice carry for a moment before he grinned and kept up the play with his pocket-knife. "Such a vulnerable, sweet thing." he pretend pouted again, chewing on his lip for a moment as if in thought.
"Do you know what you've done to me? Oh how I hope you scar up really prettily." He chuckled, keeping his voice soft and even despite the dark hunger creeping into it.
"It's been a long time since I wanted somebody to scream for me again and again.. You looked so pretty when you cried for me sweetie. When the lights in your eyes flickered and dimmed but never quite went out." the musings continued to the clicking the knife in his hand, leaning onto his elbows and watching your sleeping form.
Steve's head tilted to one side, watching how your chest rose and fell. Thinking of how he could feel the pressure against the suit change when he was pressed against your back and you sobbed for him, he had to adjust how he was sitting, his own breathing becoming a touch ragged as he felt the pulse in the side of his neck get stronger and faster. There was a temptation to see if you would feel and sound just as good against him when there was no metal and fabric to separate you from him. Your breaths would be more audible, the shaking of your body would be so divine against his chest as he felt those rattling breaths, how he could tilt your head back to watch the light fading in your doey eyes again and see how the tears made them sparkle in the light.
"Perhaps I'll let you live, keep you around like a little pet. You seem obedient... perhaps it would be fun to let your throat go hoarse with my name on your lips, begging me to let you live another day."
In your dreams, you could hear a faint ticking sound, finding yourself annoyed that you had somehow managed to dream of a clock. Stirring and turning, the pain in the back of your head as you rolled over forced your eyes open groggily, unsure of the time or even where you were for a few seconds as you adjusted to being trapped in the state between sleep and conciousness.
Looking around for the clock, you freeze as you realise it isn't a ticking clock that you could hear, but rather the soft 'click, click, click' of a penknife being opened and closed repeatedly. Sleepily staring towards the window, your blood ran cold as you caught the moonlight against the blade, being twirled as a shadowed figure sat in the window. Silent and encroaching as you laid paralysed with fear.
'Click...Click....Click...Click.'
You opened your mouth as if to scream, but no sound came out as you felt your body beginning to shake. Steve Raglan watched as fear turned you paler and made your already mal-adjusted pupils shrink as adrenaline coursed through you. Listening to your rapid breathing, almost hyperventilating as he watched how you would react.
Slowly, the man unfolded himself and allowed his height and broadness to dominate the window, blocking most of the light apart from barely enough to keep the blade illuminated. Grinning widely as you trembled and your hands uselessly gripped at the sheets.
He realised after a moment, that you were caught by sleep paralysis and the thought made him chuckle darkly. You were powerless to stop him in that moment, your own mind working against you to protect you from the monster at the foot of the bed. Bringing the knife to his lips, he licked the back of it, feeling the duller edge run against his tongue before he leaned one hand down against the bed, tracing the outline of your leg through the sheets and humming to himself.
Mercifully almost, your brain decided that it was going to attempt to shut down again as you helplessly watched Steve Raglan drag a knife up to the inside of one of your thighs with a sickenly hungry and predatory smile across his face.
~~
It felt like instantly that you woke up again, hyperventilating and sitting bolt-upright and gripping the sheets with white knuckles. Eyes wide and darting as you instinctively moved your legs away from Steve, but found yourself confused when he wasn't there. Swallowing and gasping for air, you tried to process what you had just seen, body shaking and feeling your eyes straining against the light as adrenaline pushed itself through your system.
"S-Steve?" You called out, quiet at first, but then louder as the panic fully set in.
'Why am I calling for the man who just ran a knife across my leg?' You thought to yourself as his name slipped from your mouth again, frantic and shaking as you felt your eyes watering.
Suddenly you heard the sound of something heavy thumping downstairs, before the sound of heavy and fast footsteps climbing the stairs and suddenly the door was swung open and the light turned on in the room. Revealing Steve to you, still wearing his sweater that he had put on earlier and his sweatpants, no glasses and his peppered hair messy and part of it falling across his slightly lined forehead. He was breathing heavy too, and as his voice called you name back quietly, it sounded hoarse and crackled like he had been woken from a deep slumber.
"Are you alright sweetie? Are you okay? Are you hurting?" He asked rapidly, stepping into the doorway and wiping at his eyes with the heel of his palm, eyes concerned as he watched your body shaking and breathing become shallow and fast as you panicked.
"You...You had a knife and you put it against my leg a-and you were watching me sleep. Y-You looked terrifying" You managed to gasp out to him, watching his eyes go wide before he slowly reached his hands into his pockets and turned them inside out, showing that there was nothing inside before he padded over to you with open, flat hands and cooing softly.
"You had a nightmare doll, that was all. Just a silly old nightmare because your brain's been trying to process everything that happened today." He said, reaching the edge of the bed and sitting on it, causing the mattress to groan under his much heavier weight and you to move slightly more towards him.
Reaching up, the older man stroked you hair softly and reassuringly, allowing you to break down in tears. Soft hiccupping sobs as he continued to touch you gently and affectionately. Making soft hushing sounds as you tried to wrap your head around it all. Why your mind would come up with something so horrible about a man who had only shown you kindness and who you felt some form of connection towards, why else would you have called his name?
"Come on sweetie, I'll turn out the light and how about I give you a hug. Hmm? Let me comfort you." Steve spoke softly, warmly and evenly, watching you intently before you nodded a few times, giving your head one final stroke before he stood up again, padding over to the lights and climbing back into the bed.
Pulling himself under the covers, Raglan shuffled closer to you and used his large hand to carefully guide your head to rest against his chest, ear over his heart so that you could hear his deep, even breathing and the strong beat of his heart. It was soothing, especially as he leaned down slightly and planted a tender kiss to your head, hand moving to stroke it afterwards as he sat back up-right.
"Go to sleep sweetie, you clearly need it if you're having such bad nightmares." the warm suggestion came from above your head, and you didn't feel much need to fight it as your arm wrapped around his waist, holding onto him as he cradled you to his side and stroked your hair. Humming softly and letting you feel the vibrations through his chest, warm and safe. Adored in that moment. You found yourself wishing you could stay like that for longer than a night, despite the fact you knew it would never happen.
As your eyes closed, and Raglan continued to hum some unknown lullaby to you, you were just drifting into newer, safer dreams when you thought you could hear a soft sound coming from just above your head.
'Click...Click....Click...Click.'
Hi there! Could I request a fall themed “looking for them in a crowd” from the prompt list with Steve?
you sure can! thank you for the request :) this is rather short but sweet. gn!reader! ___
Steve isn't where you left him when you come back from the bathroom. The orchard is much more crowded than when you got here, the air now filled with the happy shrieks of children and the chatter of friends as they pick up their apple-picking bags and buy treats. The corn roaster now has a rather long line and the hayride into the tree groves is packed.
Just a few minutes ago Steve was standing where you are now, in front of the goat pen, watching toddlers feed equally small animals some kind of feed from a bag. It makes you think of the teenagers you're so fond of who would usually be hanging out with you -- but today is just a day for you and Steve. He'd framed it as "scoping out an activity for the kids."
It feels like a date.
You felt his hand hover over your back in the orchard and you laughed a little too hard at his jokes just to see him smile. And now you're standing in the crowd waiting for him to reappear, not worried in the slightest because you know he'll find you. Steve always finds you.
What does worry you a little is just how hard the butterflies in your stomach erupt when you do see him again. He looks extra handsome in his corduroy jacket and windswept hair, warm eyes focused on something in his hands that you can't see as he hurries toward you. He looks up at the last moment and breaks into a smile that makes you sigh. He looks so stupidly glad to see you even though it's been mere minutes.
"Sorry," he says, crowding close to you so you can hear him. "I know I said I'd be right here but they just finished a fresh batch and I wanted to snag some." He opens what he's holding in the hand that isn't carrying your apples -- a grease-stained paper bag filled with fresh apple cider donuts.
"You're forgiven," you say. "Split one with me?"
He nods. "They're hot though, so be careful." You gingerly lift one from the bag and take a bite. It's warm, sugary, and light. You hold out the donut to Steve and his eyebrows raise a little before he puts his mouth right where yours was. It's a special kind of intimacy, the precursor to a real kiss.
"Holy shit," he moans. "We gotta bring everyone here just so I can get like, a dozen more of these." He's got some sugar on his upper lip and you can't look away.
"Hold still for a second," you say. You slowly raise your hand, bracing your fingers on his jaw before you wipe away the grains with your thumb. He exhales just a little bit and it's warm on your skin. A blush dusts his cheekbones, bringing out the faint freckles you often think about kissing. "Got it," you say.
Steve blinks a few times then wrinkles his nose and smiles, a soft and eager grin. His eyes linger on your lips. "Thanks," he says. "Wanna go get lunch?"
Definitely a date.
I H A T E Y O U ( N O T ) 🎶 dopamine, julius black
“Are you seriously following me right now?” you didn’t even bother looking over your shoulder as you shouted over the crunch of Steve’s shoes in the gravel behind you trying to catch up.
He was fucking impossible. Always finding a way to get under your skin. Telling you the way you stocked the shelves at Family Video was wrong. Making fun of your beater of a car. Chewing his chips so loudly in the break room you thought it’d make you go certifiably insane. Always obnoxious, but easily dealt with til now. When he’d gone too far.
A party down at the quarry. Too much beer and smoke and haze and the crack of the bonfire against the inky black sky. You were trying to talk to a boy you’d run into at the store, a cute boy. One that didn’t smack his lips or slurp his soda. One that didn’t look at you like you were the bane of his existence and it had been going so well for once.
Had been.
Until Steve.
“Yeah, they’re so fucking good live. Maybe I can take you next time they’re in town?”
“I’d love that,” your stomach flipped over, grin pulling at the corners of your lips as Liam looked down at you through his dark curls. Smiled at you warm and soft. Eyes deep and green, like the trees along the fence line at night and god, it was just nice to be treated like this for once.
“You don’t even like them,” Steve’s voice cut in as he stepped up next to you beer in hand, and your cheeks burned. Bright red, embarrassed and angry.
Liam looked over at Steve, confusion pinching between his brows and then glanced down at you.
“Oh, I thought you said–”
“He doesn’t know what he’s talking about,” you insisted, turning your back to Steve and trying your best to smile up at Liam, but the warmth on his face had faded.
“Okay,” Liam said, drawing out the vowel. Drinking the rest of his beer he tossed the can into the fire and jammed his hands into his pockets, “Well. Maybe I’ll see you around.”
“Wait! A-are you leaving? You just got here,” you protested, trying not to sound desperate. Liam was so sweet and all you wanted for once was just to have a nice time, but he was already turning to walk back up the hill.
“Yeah, sorry. I gotta be up early for work. I’ll call you,” he said, but you knew he wouldn’t as he forced a smile. Gave you a small half wave before heading across the gravel of the quarry and up to his truck.
“But–don’t you want to–” you stopped yourself short knowing it was useless. Steve chuckled behind you and you felt heat rise in your chest again.
Eyes squeezing shut and hands balled into fists, your nails pressed half moons into your palms as you spun back around to Steve. The glare you gave him wiped the grin right off his face and his lips twisted into a scowl.
“What?” he asked stupidly and you huffed a sound of disbelief.
“What d’you mean, what?” you shot back, taking a few steps toward him, “You just fucked that up for me. On purpose!”
“I did you a favor, that guy’s an idiot,” Steve grumbled and you laughed then. A hollow, humorless one that pushed itself from your lungs.
“You’re a real dick, Harrington,” you said, stepping up to him in defiance and he crowded down over you. Looked at you like a challenge. Eyes lit up bright in the firelight. Melted caramel. Amber. Whiskey and honey and you didn’t shy away from it.
“Oh, yeah? Well you’re no ray of sunshine, princess,” he was close enough now you could feel his breath warm over your cheek and the air grew thick, too hot, and it had nothing to do with the summer heat or the fire.
“Asshole,” you half whispered, using what little resolve you had left to tear away from him and stalk up the same hill Liam had toward your car, leaving Steve behind in a lurch.
You could hear gravel crunching behind you, the slip and slide of rock on rock punctuated by Steve’s sharp breaths.
“Are you seriously following me right now?”
“Yeah, if you just–Jesus Christ–slow down!” Steve’s feet skidded as he nearly tripped, but you kept going, digging in your purse for your keys.
You didn’t want to stay, didn’t want to hear whatever bullshit excuse he had loaded. You couldn’t. Not without ripping into him. Fumbling your key in your hand you jammed it into the lock just as Steve caught up, hands on his hips as he sucked in gasps of air.
“C’mon. Can you just–can you just gimme a minute?” he asked, out of breath and tone edging on pleading, but you resisted turning around.
“Why the hell would I do that?” you asked against your car door.
“Shit, princess. D’you really hate me that much?” his tone was even softer this time and you shook your head.
“Only as much as you hate me,” you snapped.
Finally getting the lock undone, you tried to wrench the door open, but Steve’s hand stopped you. Pressed into yours and kept it shut.
“God, what’s your problem?” you turned to hurl daggers at him, but the words died in your throat when you realized just how close he was.
Toes bumping into yours, hair falling all messy across his forehead, chest still heaving with the effort of jogging up the hill and everything blurred. Dizzy and spinning and even though you hadn’t been the one running, you couldn’t catch your breath.
“I don’t have one,” he said voice low and you felt your lips fall open at the way it made your stomach twist.
The anger that had settled in your chest shifting into something else. Something that felt dangerous. Swallowing thick you tried to shake your head, shake him, and you pulled your hand away from his.
“Sure seems like it,” you mumbled, mouth firmed in a line, trying so hard to stand your ground.
His brows pinched together. A mixture of frustration, uncertainty. Struggling to put words to the feelings that were squeezing in his chest, just as conflicted as you were. He looked at you through the long sweep of his lashes, eyes searching yours and bit at the inside of his cheek.
He thought he’d been in love with you the minute you walked into Family Video. Wearing your cut off jeans and an old baggy Hawkins High basketball jersey. Hair pulled up away from your face so that he could see the soft curve of your shoulders, the baby hairs that curled at the nape of your neck. You looked grumpy, frustrated, and the frown twisting across your lips drove him crazy. So did the heat in your tone as you talked to Keith, telling him you wanted was ‘a stupid job’ to pay for your ‘stupid bills’ and god if he didn’t feel stupid for staring.
There was no way you didn’t have a boyfriend. You were too hot. Too funny and sharp and cool. Hell, even if you didn’t have a boyfriend he figured there was no way he’d have a chance, so he did what he always did. Acted like he didn’t care. Needled you, pestered you, got under your skin. Got a little mean with it, but he hadn’t expected it to backfire. Hadn’t expected you play back and fuck if it didn’t make it worse.
Took to calling you Princess because he loved the way you glared at him.
Ate half your lunch just so he had an excuse to walk you across the street for a bag of chips.
Said you did things wrong just so you’d shove at him, tell him ‘if he was so good at it why didn’t he show you?’
And when he finally figured out you were single he felt like he’d fucked up. Like he’d taken it too far and there was no way he could be what he really wanted to be for you. No way to tell you how badly he wanted to take you out. How badly he wanted to treat you right. Hold your hand and call you baby.
Hey, baby.
How much he wished he could press his lips into yours and see if you tasted all sweet and tart at the same time. Sour on the outside, sugar on the inside. How he wanted to run his hands up your legs, feel you under him, tell you things that’d pull sweet sounds from your lips, but now you were here at this stupid party. Now there was Liam and he couldn’t help it.
Anything to keep him away from you and now he felt like he was answering for everything.
“See?” you insisted at his hesitation, huffing a sigh and turning back into your car, but Steve grabbed at your hand and spun you around again.
“S’not you!” he said a little too loud, cheeks burning with his admission and he bit his lips between his teeth, “It’s everybody else.”
Your face shifted skeptical, a little cynical, but he was so damn close. Too close and you tried to pull in a breath. Tried to hold onto your anger, but it slipped through your fingers like water. Scattered like wishes on a breeze as the scent of his cologne made you go all hazy. The look in his eyes pouring into you like kerosene on a fire. Made you want to grab fistfuls of his shirt in your hands and feel the full weight of him on you and–
“I don’t see what that’s gotta do with me,” you sniped, trying to keep your tone short, but it came out softer and he took the opportunity and ran with it.
“Everything, actually,” his lips tugged up into a small sheepish smile, but dropped again as he realized there was more to say. “I know I’m a dick–”
“You think?” you cut in and he leveled you with a look.
“Thanks,” he muttered and it pulled a little grin from you, but the next thing he said wiped it off your face, “M’sorry,” and your stomach flipped over at the way he was looking at you. “I just…I wish it were me,” he said, lifting a hand to your cheek and tucking a few stray locks of hair behind your ear.
Wish it were me. Your heart was racing.
“Wish what was you?” you whispered. Afraid to hear the answer. Holding your breath as he leaned in. Nose nearly brushing over your cheek. Close enough to kiss you if he wanted and god did you want him to.
“The one askin’ you out,” he whispered back and it struck you silent.
How was that possible? He was awful. Annoying and irritating and obnoxious and now he was telling you he wanted to ask you out?
“So ask me, Harrington,” you murmured and watched as his brows lifted in surprise, lips parted into a little ‘o’ as his brain raced to catch up.
“Wai–what?” he stumbled over his words and you pressed a hand to his chest.
“Ask me,” you said again and he huffed a laugh, tongue jammed into his cheek as he looked back down at you.
“Okay,” he managed, licking over his lips as he gathered himself back up, “C-Can I take you out?”
“Mmhm,” you murmured, nerves giving way to confidence and you pulled him down into you a little closer. Pressed your lips against his ear and whispered, “Kiss me.” And it nearly knocked him over.
Pulling away you looked up at him, whispered his name like a question and it blew his pupils wide. Dark at the center and fringed in gold and it was enough to make him lean back down. Soft and tentative at first, but bolder and braver when you sighed into him.
An exhale. A release. A realization of what you’d wanted this whole time and it made you grab his shirt in your hands, tilting your head to deepen the kiss and the sounds you pulled from each other were greedy.
More more more.
Hands splaying out over his chest you slid them up his shoulders and into his hair, pulling it lightly as his tongue licked into you and the moan he loosed made you press your thighs together.
“Shit,” he hissed, fingers pressing into the plush of your hips, mouth dragging hot down your neck and across your collarbone. Kisses messy and slipping on your skin and god you needed him. “Christ, princess, you drive me crazy,” he admitted and you grinned, all smug and holding the upper hand, but then he slotted a leg between your thighs and you lost it.
You felt like you couldn’t breathe. Felt like he was the only thing keeping you from falling away and it made you hold onto him tighter. You could still hear the laughter and the music down at the bonfire, but it sounded so far away. Both of you hidden in the thick, indigo shadows that fell out under the stand of trees, dark enough to not care what you were about to ask.
“Steve,” you pulled away just enough to speak and he stopped, both of you panting short breaths into the space between you.
“Sorry, can slow down if you want–”
“No–shit–” you squeezed your eyes shut to focus, “Don’t stop.” Swallowing thick you opened your eyes again and looked right up at him, “Just get in.”
Hands slipping against your car you fumbled to open the door to the backseat and half shoved him in before piling in after. When you closed it behind you the small space was suddenly filled with the sounds of your breaths. Quick and nervous and anticipating.
Steve sat on the bench, just as anxious as you were, and watched with heavy lidded eyes as you climbed over him. Straddled him with a leg on either side. Your dress hitching up and bunching at your hips and all he could do was grab onto your thighs for dear life. Pressing a hand into the seat behind his head you bit your lip between your teeth and pulled in a steadying breath.
“Here,” you whispered, taking one of his hands and sliding it between your legs. Making him feel the heat that had pooled there, showing him what he was doing to you and he groaned. A filthy sound that fell from his lips as he pressed his fingers against your soaked panties.
“Fuck,” he rasped, already wrecked from feeling how wet you were. “Okayokayokay. So fuckin’ hot, babe. Shit,” nonsense fell from his lips and you had half a mind to laugh at him, but his fingers were pulling your panties aside and touching you not your panties and it pulled a gasp from you.
At the sound his eyes darted up to look at you, make sure you were okay and you put your hand back over his. Moving his fingers in slow circles as they slipped against your slick.
“Like that?” he asked eyes still on you, keeping up the motion as your hand fell away.
You tried to say yes, but it melted into another moan and he leaned in to press a kiss to your neck. Mouth open and messy. Licking against the softness of your skin and sucking a bruise on it.
“Tell me,” he said into the hollow behind your ear, trailing kisses as he went, your hips rocking against his fingers as his circles grew tighter and faster.
“Like that–ye–yeah–yes. God, don’t stop,” you stuttered over your words hands moving to grip onto his shoulders as he slipped first one then two fingers inside of you.
He filled you up better than you could at home, your cheek pressed into your pillow, tears welling up in your eyes in frustration as you struggled to reach the spot you wanted. The hot drag of him sliding in and out in and out made you see white, made your tighten your hold on him and as you loosed another moan he bucked up into you.
You could feel how hard he was through his jeans against the bare skin of your thigh and it only made you want him more. “Steve,” you leaned forward and pressed your forehead to his, “Please tell me you have a condom.”
His fingers stopped moving and he loosed a heavy sigh, swallowing down the nerves that had pushed themselves into his throat. “Yeah, course, lemme just–” lifting his hips, and you, from the seat he yanked his wallet out of his back pocket.
He had stopped carrying them around after high school. Felt like it was fucking juvenile, but one time after Steve had watched you leave work, put his returns in the wrong spot and upside down, Robin had thrown one across the store at him. “Here, dingus,” she’d grumbled, “Don’t be an idiot.” And he’d been so embarrassed, afraid to tell her he didn’t think he’d ever need it, but he silently thanked her now. Always saving his ass.
Gently nudging you back into the headrests on the front seats he put his wallet down and fumbled his fingers against the button on his jeans. He was hard as a rock and when he undid his zipper it sprang out without any encouragement.
You couldn’t take your eyes off him as he ripped the foil of the condom wrapper between his teeth and thumb. Of course he drove you crazy at work, but you couldn’t deny you’d thought about him when you were alone in your room. Touching yourself beneath the sheets. Fantasizing about what it would be like and now that you were seeing it for real your heart hammered in your chest, legs slipping together as you grew wetter by the second.
He wrapped a hand around his length pumping once, twice, three times before rolling the condom down from tip to root and looking back up at you.
“Y’okay?” he asked, hands moving to hold onto your hips and you realized how ridiculous you must’ve looked.
“Mmhm,” you murmured and let him pull you slowly back into his lap.
“Gotta tell me if you aren’t,” he whispered and you nodded as he gave you a little smile, brushed your hair out of your face and looked just a little longer. “So pretty,” he said softly, words lighting a fire in your chest, and you pressed a kiss to him again. Sucking on his bottom lip and letting it go with a dirty pop and he thought he was going to come right there on the spot. “Sh–shit, okayokay,” he breathed, pressing his tip against your entrance, hesitating just a little and you helped him the rest of the way, pushing down slowly.
You watched as he filled you up, stretched you out until he was buried deep inside you, the tight fit making you squirm over him.
“Ohhh god, so tight, feel so good babe, Christ,” he rambled and you chuckled a little until he hit the soft, squishy spot at the back of you and you moaned loudly. Fell forward onto his chest and rolled your hips forward, silently begging him to move as if he could do anything else. “I got you,” he promised.
Hands gripping your hips again he slowly turned and lowered you down, your back against the seat bench, his arms on either side of you to hold himself up. Murmured soft, dirty things under his breath as he crowded over you, started rocking his hips into you, the wet sounds of you filling up the car.
“Wish you’d asked me sooner,” you whined, wrapping your legs around his waist and he gave you a smug little smile.
“Yeah? Worth the wait?” he asked, breath hitching in his throat as he picked up the pace, fronts of his thighs slapping against the backs of yours.
“Shut up,” you gasped as he bottomed out inside of you. Tangling your fingers into his hair you pulled and it dragged a groan from him as he started to fuck you faster. Slipping a hand between your legs you drew tight, messy circles over your clit, pushing yourself closer and closer to the edge. “Ste–shit. Steve, harder,” you practically begged and the pleading tone in your voice sent him.
“Harder,” he said back, it was all he could muster, wrecked and chest heaving with each breath he sucked in, fucking into you with heavy thrusts, “M’so close.”
Opening your mouth a so close almost fell from your lips too, but the coil in your stomach had been so tightly wound that the combination of your fingers over your clit and Steve finally made it snap.
You clenched tight around him as you both rode out your climax. Head pressed against the seat and eyes rolling back to look out the window at the stars. The moon as it hung lazy in the sky. Steve spilling sweet words of praise into your ears and bringing you back down to earth. Wrapping you up soft and warm in his voice.
He rested his forehead against yours, both of your brows dewy with sweat, and let out a contented sigh as he softened inside you.
“Wish I’d asked you sooner too,” he murmured, poking fun at himself with your words from earlier and you leaned up to press a kiss to the corner of his lips.
“Worth the wait,” you finally agreed and he grinned.
God damn, was it worth the wait.
Harringrove- The Book
Made the second chapter for the @harringrovestorychallenge
Here you can find the first chapter tw: blood, injuries
CHAPTER 2
Billy opened his eyes, driving back from sleep by an ache in his shoulder.
He also felt the dull pain on his face and back, for his father’s hits, and the dry tears on his face.
He indulged a little in the snuggle on Steve’s chest, and then he started hearing the life noises in the house.
“Harrington,” he whispered, shaking him a little.
Steve started protesting. Billy shushed him
“Quiet, Harrington,” he closed his mouth with a hand. “You have to go,” he kept whispering with urgency.
Steve blinked, confused. He hugged a crying Billy last night, watching him falling asleep, and finally he let the sleep win on himself too and fell asleep holding Billy.
“Go away, quick!” said Billy again, more agitated. He cocked an ear again to the house and breathed frantically. “If he finds you here… if he sees your car…” he whimpered, a point of fear in his voice.
Steve collected his shoes. “He does it… often?” he stupidly asked, and Billy’s face crumbled when he nodded.
“He likes to… check his work,” he said again, hopelessly.
Steve couldn’t find something else to say. He climbed the window, but before jumping he leant to kiss Billy again.
Billy pecked him and smiled.
“Can I call you? To see you later,” whispered Steve. Billy shook his head.
“No… but you can call Hagan. I… sort of hung out with him later. At the arcade, maybe”.
Steve sighed. “Tommy and I aren’t friends anymore, but… I’ll figure it out”.
Billy nodded and Steve jumped off the window in the still dawn air, running to his car. He saw Billy turn back and close the window.
His heart sank while he went away, while a sharp fury and a hot rage were growing into him.
He planned to swallow his pride and call Tommy Hagan, but luckily he had not to. Lucas called him to drive the party to the arcade, naming Max among other things, so he agreed to drive them to the Palace.
Billy, Tommy and Carol were already there, casually chatting, and sat on a bench in the parking lot. “You in for the movie tonight?” said Carol, chewing her gum. Popping.
“‘M kind of grounded,” muttered Billy. “Except for driving shitbird,” he sighed, and whatever Tommy was about to say, died on his tongue as he saw the Beamer parking slowly at the other side of the lot, after passing slowly in front of them. He was sure Harrington glanced at them before stopping.
Billy gulped, unnoticed by the other two, when the kids stormed out of the car, and Steve came out too looking casually around, fidgeting nonchalantly with something, and then, as he was doing it all the time, he walked to them, lighty waving a hand. He was playing cool, but Billy’s heart started to run wildly when he looked furtively and saw him chewing his lips nervously. Tommy muttered something.
“Hagan. Carol,” he tilted his head, without answers. “Hargrove,” his voice pitched a little higher. “Do you have light?”
Tommy and Carol, a cig hanging on their lips, didn’t move. Billy forced himself to count three Missisippis before waving his Zippo in front of him.
“... and a cig?” added Steve, trying without success to unlock his eyes from Billy’s. Billy scoffed and took his packet, giving him one.
“Fuck, it’s the last,” he complained, ligthing it for Steve. He took a drag.
“I’ll buy you more,” Steve tilted his head to the store, and Billy jumped up.
“Will be better,” and he followed him through the park.
He felt the sting of Tommy's glance on his shoulders, but didn’t look back. He tried to avoid looking at Steve, though.
“Wanna kiss you,” Steve whispered when they were alone.
“Don’t”.
“Wanna hold your hand,” insisted Steve.
“Don’t,” Billy blushed a little and smiled at him, clinching his hand. He fucked up all the discretion and looked him in the face.
Steve bought the cigs. “Movie tonight?” he tilted to the Family video.
“I’m kind of grounded,” he repeated and sighed, sinking his hands in his pockets.
Steve sighed too. “He… did something again…?”
Billy shook his head. “Don’t wanna talk about it now”.
Steve stared at the scratches Billy had on his hands, because he didn’t want to risk staring at his very face, and felt again the fury and the rage.
“Take the bat,” he whispered.
“What?”
“I have a… a nailed bat in the trunk,” Billy raised an eyebrow really suddenly, but Steve waved a hand. “Long story. I’ll tell you another time,” and then he moved again to Tommy and Carol.
He tried to be natural, and Billy too, but it wasn’t easy. When they finally went away and the kids started to come out of the arcade, Steve hid the bat in the trunk of a baffled Billy, grabbing his hand with a soft glance.
They tried to be discreet at school. Only talking casually in public, coldly, and fighting in the court. Kissing and touching and taking off clothes in their car after school. “I’ll have house free this weekend,” said Steve next Thursday, cuddling under the blanket in Billy’s car. They’re freezing their ass and couldn’t properly snuggle anymore in the car. They couldn’t even be completely nude that week.
Billy whined for pleasure and expectancy.
“You’re in for the movie tonight?” Hagan stopped him in the desert hallway, a half grin on the face. Billy jumped a little, surprised. He blinked trying to think of a good excuse.
“Or you’re still grounded?” continued Tommy. Billy started to nod, relieved. “With the cute ass you’re fooling around?”
Billy’s heart skipped a beat. They had been suble, cautious… he panicked and couldn’t hide his pale look to Tommy.
“Don’t worry,” said Tommy, nodding lightly.
“How do you…”
“Come on, dude. You two are going away together from Tina’s, Steve appeared from nowhere around us and you two are chirping like love birds all week… we first thought you two fistfighted, but it was pretty clear that you have another kind of fight”.
Billy blushed furiously.
“But don’t worry. I knew you’re not really into bitches. I wouldn’t bet on Harrington, but he’s hot. Count on me for anything”. Tommy smirked, blinked an eye and went away to Carol. Billy had to lean a little to the wall, sweating and breathing heavily.
Steve looked out the window. The sky was gray and heavy with rain, and Billy was already a little late. He had popcorn and some treats, some movies, a blanket on the sofa, and he changed the sheet on his bed, he shaved and combed his hair and put a new polo and his best jeans on. He was nervous, and he kept looking at his watch. He heard the noise of the car screeching while it started raining. He jumped at the door as he saw the car coming at a crazy speed and almost crashing against the wall with a terrible brake noise. It was dented and broken on the front, and Billy crawled to the open door wielding the bat, covered in blood.
He had half of his jacket ripped, his hair glued for sweat and blood, his face also covered in blood, and the tears he was crying made a clean path on his cheeks.
“I… I tried to… I had to… I don’t know… I don’t know…”, he whispered frantically, before collapsing in his arms, whining and staining him with blood too.
The howling broke the silence, while the rain soaked them, in the cold, freezing wind.
Accidentally in Love (Chapter 3)
Tumblr media
Pairing: Steve Rogers x Bucky Barnes x FemaleOC
Warnings: Potentially lethal levels of fluffiness right now, potential for smut later. A little blood, canon levels of violence potentially. Plus size female OC, body descriptions.
Rating: PG-13 (right now for language, but look for this to change)
WC: 1800-ish.
Summary:
Echo's living a normal life in NYC, a 911 dispatcher, the most excitement she gets is from the calls she takes. And then love comes crashing in one day when she's riding her bike through Central Park.
Steve and Bucky weren't looking for anything on their daily run around the park besides fresh air and exercise. The streak of purple eye candy on a bike that lapped them pretty regularly was a nice addition but not mandatory, at least until some impromptu roughhousing results in some civilian casualties in the form of the most beautiful woman either of them had seen in a long, long time.
A/N: AU, Post CACW, Bucky’s Chill and we have always lived in the Tower. Just call this a throwback to the found family, everyone lives in Stark Tower fics.
This is supposed to be a super-fluffy love story. Still undecided if I'm gonna keep this one going but posting now for giggles and grins. It's got some CSI:NY characters crossing over because why not.
I'm just messing about and playing in my WIPs folder. Not Beta'd: we die like men! (honestly, I tried but if you catch something I missed, let me know)
Chapter 3
One Week Later
“Is he hot in person?”
“Who?” Echo slipped her lunch into the breakroom fridge and pulled out the two cold bottles of caffeinated water she’d left in there the previous night. Late afternoon as it slipped into evening was always a busy time and she needed the fortification.
“Spongebob Squarepants,” Kalenda, her work bestie, scoffed as she crossed her arms with an impatient frown. The curvy brunette was Echo’s age, about two inches shorter but making up for it with feistiness. “Who do you think? Bucky freaking Barnes! Christ, it’s like you don’t even know me at all.”
 “Lord…” she rolled her eyes as she held the door to the break room open for her friend to pass in front of her on their way into the main center. “Yes. Yes, he is just as beautiful in person, and he and Captain Rogers together are, in fact, as kind and stupidly hot as advertised.” After the visit at the hospital where they’d returned her replaced or repaired belongings—including her bike—Echo had traded numbers with Steve and Bucky, and the guys had texted her a few times in the intervening days to check on her and chatting a little, but it felt weird reaching out to contact them just because. It wasn’t like they were friends or anything.
Not that she wouldn’t have minded being their friend, or… well, or. They were gorgeous, sweet, funny so far as she could tell, and of course heroic and selfless as hell. The way they smiled at her made her knees weak and her pussy may never recover. What’s not to like? But who was she kidding, really. They were the objects of desire for over half the planet, she guessed, and she was a dispatcher for the NYPD. In no way were those worlds truly related, outside of the most superficial ways, much less were compatible.
“The hair and those eyes, I’d get so fucking lost in them you’d never find me again. And all those muscles,” she sighed lustily. “Fuck me, that’s before we even talk about that metal arm,” Kalenda carried on, now in full swoon as they made their way out to their stations. “Gods, the things I would let him do to me…”
Echo snorted at her friend’s obvious heart-eyes in regards to the Winter Soldier. She didn’t blame her at all, but still, their coworkers didn’t need to be privy to their depraved bestie conversations. That’s what the chat was for. “Annnnnnd that is how we end up back at the supervisor’s office for inappropriate work conversations.”
Kalenda scoffed, waving off her concern with a dismissive hand-wave. “Oh, like you’ve never said anything filthy.” Her wicked grin should have been the warning. “Something something ‘star-spangled cock could split you open any time he wanted’? Something something ‘break him down to the frame’... any of that sound familiar?”
Her leering green gaze as she slipped on her headset made Echo giggle even as heat rushed to her cheeks. “You could shut up any time now.”
The laughter was shortlived, though, as they settled into their workday. Having a headset on meant that it was time to serve the citizens of NYC and the officers of NYPD to the best of their abilities. They were one of, if not the, largest comm center in the country and Echo was proud of the work she did, contributing to the safety of her town.
It was easy to get lost in the work, one call at a time, one radio run at a time. Her focus, scattered as it could be at any other time, easily fell into the rhythm of call and response, action and reaction, hours slipping by unnoticed.
Voices behind her and down at the end of her row drew her attention, their familiarity abruptly yanking her out of the zone.
One pair of eyes zeroed in on her immediately. “Well, if it isn’t the crash test dummy.”
Boisterously loud for the locale, Tony Stark was the walking definition of ‘all eyes on me’. He may have been in a crazy expensive suit and tie, looking all prim and proper and what have you, but the curve of his lips promised the most interesting kinds of mischief.
Echo swallowed hard as she made herself unavailable for calls, her eyes quickly darting left and right to the unabashed gawking of her coworkers. Oh, they were still busy as hell, but the nosy bastards were never above a good spectacle. “Mr. Stark.”
“Did the phone meet your standards?” he demanded with a smirk that seemed a little too knowing. He stopped behind her chair, spinning her around to face him.
She nodded hesitantly. “It did, thank you. I mailed you a thank you note. Did you not get it?”
Yes, it had been an old school touch, but sending him an email seemed a little impersonal, especially since he’d gone to the trouble of transferring all her stuff over in addition to giving her a top of the line bit of tech. And it wasn’t like she could just show up on his doorstep with a casserole.
He snorted, his billion dollar smile on full display as his eyes crinkled at the edges. “I did, but then, I expected nothing less considering you hang out with the geriatric set.”
She was about to ask what he meant when another voice cut her off. “Tony, Jesus, man. Quiet down, people are working here—oh, hey Echo.”
She sincerely hoped the whimpering squeak as she spun quickly to face him she heard was just in her head, though Kalenda’s snort behind her indicated no such luck. “Hi. James. I-I mean Bucky. Um…” her eyes met her bestie’s just behind him for some help, but only found the kind of mocking encouragement born from years of friendship. “Nice to see you. Here. At my job.”
“Um yeah, about that…” The brunet smoothed his long bangs back out of his face behind his ears and grinned bashfully as he rubbed the back of his neck. Under other circumstances, she and Kalenda would be ogling him for the way the seams of his deep blue henley were barely clinging to life across his shoulders and around his massive arms and the skinny jeans that were all but wrecking her concentration. “Cap and Tony had a meeting at 1PP and Stevie wanted me to tag along.”
“I’m glad he did.” The way her compliment made his cheeks flush felt like winning an award, even if the normal filter she kept up at work slipped a bit.
“Me too.” The tiny shy grin that danced at the corners of his lips was killing her slowly, even as the somewhat awkward silence stretched out between them.
Kalenda’s obvious throat-clearing seemed to startle her back into herself, reminding her acutely of both their location and their audience.
“Well, it’s always good to see you.” The platitude was automatic, off her tongue and into the space between them before she even thought about it, her nerves robbing her mind of anything but decent manners. Good gods, she was never gonna live this down.
“You look good.” His eyes widened a moment later as he flushed bright red, clearly that hadn’t been what he’d meant to come out of his mouth. “I mean, that is… you look better than when I saw you last time.”
“Hard not to,” she conceded, her mind bordering on hysterical the longer this conversation went on. It felt like the whole world was watching this junior-high level farce and she was stumbling through it, quite badly.
“Well, on the upside, you’re wearing more clothes this time,” Tony interjected oh-so-helpfully, looking like he was avidly watching the best telenovela ever and doing nothing to quell the likely overheating rumor mill that had just kicked into gear around them. “And there’s less blood.”
“Alright, thank you, Mr. Stark,” Shelly, the floor supervisor’s breathlessly cheerful voice sounded like she’d rather eat broken glass than let that conversation continue as she rushed across the room to join them. “Echo, Mr. Stark, Sergeant Barnes, and Captain Rogers—”
“Hello, Echo.”
She was almost afraid to look, though Kalenda’s dreamy sigh left her no other choice. Sure enough, the gods of horniness were testing her and pretty much every woman in the five boroughs with these three Avengers out together. In a black t-shirt under a green button-down and jeans that gave her the most impure thoughts possible about his thighs, the blond Avenger with the pink cheeks grinned at her warmly from his spot behind Tony. The fact her panties didn’t burst into flames right there was a miracle of modern physics.
“Hey Steve.”
“As I was saying,” her supervisor huffed, bringing all of the attention back to her, “they’re here to tour the center, so we should really be on our way.”
Sounded reasonable to her, so long as they were there, Echo doubted there’d be much work done anyway. “Alright then.” Echo turned back to her console to take stock of her district. “It was good to see you. Be safe out there.”
“Before we go though…” Buck’s half-grin as he met her eye over her shoulder warmed her to her toes. “You out of here soon?”
“A few hours. Why?”
“Wanna meet up for a late dinner?”
His hopeful expression tugged at her heart. It was the kind of thing that made her want to give him the world, even if she didn’t know him like that. “It’ll be after ten,” she hedged, perched on the fence between really wanting to spend time with them because who wouldn’t, really, and knowing that she’s no one special and didn’t have any business tagging along with them.
“Then we’ll leave a light on for ya,” Steve replied cheerfully as he and Bucky were led further into the center and away from her desk. “See you tonight.”
“Always a pleasure, Crash,” Tony called, following behind him.
Echo sat blinking at her console as she watched the group retreat, only spurred to action when she caught Steve’s eye as he winked at her before leaving the room.
“What just happened?” she asked the Universe at large as she typed in the login code for her phone from muscle memory.
“Looks to me,” Kalenda replied lightly dropping off a new bottle of caffeinated water, “like you have a date after work.”
“Huh.” The very idea was mindblowing. Quickly, her mind was shaken from its haze by a bank robbery that required both her and Kalenda’s attention for quite a while.
“And had the nerve not to introduce me.”
Hazelnuts and blackberries, chocolate and lavender
Part 1 / Part 2
Omegaverse Steddie fanfiction, alpha Eddie Munson, omega Steve Harrington, strangers to friends to lovers, alpha beta omega dynamics.
Starcourt.
Small business owners complain about that hellish building that's going murder Hawkins' commercial economy. Or whatever.
Surely, it was going to murder Eddie's sanity, that's a fact. Since the mall opened its doors, the poor alpha’s life hasn’t been the same.
First, that awful morning when Eddie skipped his math class to buy a tape. Not just any tape but the ‘Marching Out’ by Yngwie Fucking Malmsteem, a tape that just released and it was already considered a worthwhile listen album. Eddie was ecstatic, a spring in his step, thinking about listening to his new tape for hours on end, just to find out that the little, cluttered tapes and vinyl store he loved - and where he used to spend a big part of his money - was closed.
Closed!
Eddie glared, gaping like a fish, at the closed door and blinded windows and the big cardboard placard with the word ‘closed’ in big, red letters. By its side, a note that said that the customers could still find whatever music they were looking for in the bigger and better record store at Starcourt Mall.
Since there were no other stupid stores to buy the tape - gas stations never had the new things - Eddie had to go to Starcourt.
Second, the stupid music store with a stupid cool name - Divinyl Madness Records - needed a stupid someone to hire as clerk.
Eddie was that stupid someone, it seemed. The owner of the store was nice, an older and intimidating alpha that sported a trimmed beard and a mane longer than Eddie’s; he saw the boy’s looks and his always present battle denim vest and, with a wolfish grin, as if he had found an equal, asked him a few things while Eddie was trying to buy the fucking tape! What kind of music he listened to (metal, mostly), if he played some instrument (guitar, d-uh!), if he minded talking with people (people usually minded to talk with him if he were being honest), and if he was interested to become part of Divinyl Records, as a clerk.
Eddie could save some money, help at home, and hopefully, Chief Hopper wouldn’t be such a present figure in his life if he worked there. That would be nice. He could always keep his other job - selling a few joints from time to time - but maybe he could start a new life. One that could let him out of here.
That day, Eddie came home with ‘Marching Out’ blasting from his van’s windows down and a new job.
Ok, all in all that had been a nice day after all. Sure, Eddie would miss the old store and his chaotic shelves and disarrayed style, and the owner's long stares at him, the beta glaring at Eddie for taking too much time deciding what to buy while waiting for new album releases. But at home that night, when he told his uncle Wayne about his new job, the man rewarded him with a proud glint in his eye and a pat on his shoulder, reassuring him that he didn't need to worry about their economics, that Eddie better save his money for his future, and made him promise to not go around skipping his classes again.
Third, and worse thing about Starcourt and working there, though, was Steve the King of the Jerks Harrington.
And if his persona wasn't bad enough, the real nightmare was the tight, small ridiculous sailor uniform he had to wear because the fallen ruler of Hawkin’s High worked in the silly ice cream parlor called Scoops Ahoy!
Divinyl Madness was situated right in front from Scoops Ahoy, Eddie had a perfect view of the former king's highlighted blonde mane ruined by the silly hat, his toned arms flexing every time he scooped ice cream. That alone could drive any alpha insane.
But his shorts. Oh boy.
The blue fabric clinged to his round ass perfectly, and left muscular, slightly hairy thighs on sight. And those long white socks that covered his calves.
Eddie maybe hated the guy, but fuck, he was hot. Really hot. Stupidly hot, ridiculously even, always has been, and the alpha hated the way his eyes lingered on the jock whenever he was nearby.
Eddie knew, because he had heard it at high school, that one of the reasons for Harrington's disgrace was the fact that he presented late and as omega. Captain of the swimming team, basketball star, and a bully jock turned into nothing just because of his secondary gender. Eddie couldn’t easily forgive the way Steve Harrington treated his people, the nerds, the outcasts and the misfits, but he never understood that hate towards male omegas or female alphas, as if they were less than nothing. Stupid old-fashioned social conventions.
Anyway. The real and only reason Eddie hated to work at the record store is that Steve Harrington was always there, too, in that small outfit, being hot.
Hot enough to distract Eddie from time to time, who started to stare at him when he wasn't busy and no clients were at the store.
Hot enough to start invading Eddie's dreams at night, and fuck it all, even his fantasies when he was wide awake at night and restless because Steve was a wet dream made flesh and bone and Eddie was just a guy. Just give him a rest. What if he had to knot his own fist, what else could he do about it?
Eddie was just a guy who ate a lot of ice cream that summer.
-
“Ahoy Ladies! Would you like to set sail on this ocean of flavor with me? I’ll be your captain, I’m Steve Harrington,” Steve’s cheerful and flirty greeting to every cute girl while he winked and used his sultriest voice was fucking unnerving to Eddie. Maybe an old habit from when he was expecting to present as an alpha.
Maybe Steve preferred other omegas, just because they were girls? Eddie frowns upon this and he feels suddenly sick. Every fucking time he comes for a stupid ice cream during his break the same thing, the same stupid line falling from these pink, flush lips and Eddie feels…
He fucking wants to growl and snarl at these other poor omegas girls that are unaware of his inner turmoil. He’s going insane, and he has been working at Divinyl Record for only three weeks.
The girls have their ice creams, ignoring the omega in his slutty sailor disguise but they all scrunch their noses when walking past Eddie, glaring at him and flushing themselves together, the way the omegas do to protect themselves against an alpha. Eddie, even enraptured by Steve, notices it and looks at them in confusion, until- fuck. His scent. Sour with jealousy and spicier with his own arousal, it’s a very distinctive and very alpha smell, no doubt the poor girls had felt the need to close their pack to protect themselves, leaving the establishment in a rush.
Fucking great, as if Eddie hadn’t enough in his plate already, now he smells like a predator. And it’s not like he can turn and say ‘hey babes, don’t you fret, you surely are all lovely and very enticing omegas, but I’m afraid my mind is set in this pretty sailor over here, I won’t represent any danger to any of you, and now I bid you farewell.’ Ha!
“Ahoy Lad-, oh Eddie, hi!” Steve greets him, a wide smile in those pink lips and Eddie can’t help but to think, it’s not fair. Why the fuck does Steve to smile at him like that, as if he’s happy to see him today, as if he’s happy to have Eddie coming for an ice cream every day since Eddie started working in the mall, right in front of Scoops Ahoy.
“What, no offer for me to sail this ocean of flavor, hm?” Eddie teases, he can’t help himself. “ You don’t want to be my captain, Harrington?”
Steve’s cheeks turn red and that’s such a good look on him. Eddie’s hindbrain yells mine and he has to shake his head, reminding himself he hates this guy and always will. People don’t change, Steve Harrington doesn't change, he’s still the same jerk, even if his scent is sweeter now and his hair is a bit longer, with blonde highlights…
“Pft, captain? Not even Private First Class, our dear Steve,” a chirpy voice says from the backstore, the blonde girl who works with Steve appearing and resting her arm on Steve’s shoulder, grinning wide while Steve frowns at her. “But he’s working hard. How are you, Eddie?”
“Hey, Robin,” Eddie smiles tensely at her, he doesn’t enjoy the way she treats the omega. From the record store, though, Eddie has seen that it’s just how their friendship is. He knows, he knows they’re friends, and Eddie is no one for them, for Steve. “Slow day at the store, I’m here for my daily dose of sugar.”
They’re not friends, Eddie has to remind himself, when Steve offers him a blinding smile, droopy eyes locking with his own when he asks if he wants a sample of their new flavor.
Fuck.
The thing is, and this is when Eddie realizes for real that he’s completely fucked - about this whole affair who involves Steve Harrington and his inner, loud alpha- the thing is, that Steve’s scent smells like hazelnuts and lavender. And since Eddie started working at the store and spending his money on ice cream, he has been asking for flavors that remind him of Steve’s scent. Almond and maple syrup, chocolate and peanuts - his favorite, since Eddie’s own scent is dark chocolate and blackberries, and -
He hasn’t noticed until now, until this exact moment when he shrugs and Steve offers him a disposable spoon with the new ice cream flavor: caramel and hazelnuts.
Eddie opens his mouth, inhaling the cold scent of the sample when Steve raises his hand, offering the spoon to him; the omega chuckles but shoves the spoon in Eddie’s mouth carefully. The omega’s own scent, warmer and even sweeter, the hint of lavender fills Eddie’s nostrils and makes his mouth water.
Fuck.
“It's good, right?” Steve asks him, eyes wide. Maybe ice cream is the ex-jock whole life, now. “Do you like it?”
Eddie nods, awestruck, forgetting where he is, wrapping his fingers around Steve’s wrist, gently. Steve flares his nostrils, inhaling deep too, and blushing right in front of Eddie’s eyes, who feels his blood boiling in his veins. The omega holds his gaze, his almond eyes bright and wide open, lips parted to taste whatever he’s smelling-
Robin clears her voice, “Steve, I think Eddie wants his ice cream so he can go back to work, and we have more clients waiting.”
The alpha almost snaps at her, turning his head to snarl, but her soft eyes and knowing smile are enough to keep his mouth closed. What the fuck is happening to him today?
“Yes, yeah, sure. What flavor do you want today, Eddie?”
Eddie comes back to the record store with two scoops in his cone, his usual chocolate and peanuts - the closest to hazelnuts until now - and… well, hazelnuts and caramel.
“Hey, pup, what’s wrong with you?” Joe, the alpha who owns the store looks at him and wrinkles his nose. “You smell like you fell into a chocolate fountain, like burnt sugar, you feeling ok, Munson?"
"I… I'm fine," Eddie lies, and the hours don't run fast enough.
When he reaches home, his uncle Wayne winces.
"Uf, son, your rut is early," he says, greeting him.
"Hng," Eddie agrees, flopping onto the couch, face first.
"Something triggered it?" His uncle asks, not unkindly, shuffling in their small kitchenette.
"What do you mean, Wayne?" He bristles, almost snarls, but his uncle simply laughs and puts a glass of water on the table for him.
"Do ya really want to go through the bees and the birds talk again, son?" Wayne asks, teases him, and Eddie grunts, hides his face against the plush, worn cushions that smell like him and his uncle. Their little pack. "Ya know what I mean, some pretty omega caught yer eyes?"
"Uncle Wayne," Eddie groans. Then, the younger alpha thinks about droopy, hazel eyes, about pink lips stretched in an open smile, and the smell of sweet hazelnuts. "Maybe."
-
His rut lasts three whole days, he spends them in his room, thrashing and growling and having half a mind to not destroy everything he has, his guitars, his amps, his books.
On the fourth day and feeling like shit, Eddie comes back to high school, to his band practice, and to Divinyl Records. At least his brain is not full of cotton anymore, even if his hindbrain is still louder in his mind.
Eddie apologizes to Joe for calling in sick for three whole days.
"It's ok, pup," the alpha pats his shoulder with such force that makes Eddie stumble. "It gets easier when you're older."
"Really?"
"Nah, not really," Joe laughs, putting a box full of records on Eddie's trembling arms and he picks another box, and points Eddie with his chin to follow him. "Just an omega, a good mate, it's the only thing that will make your ruts less miserable, pup. Find someone who sees that you’re so much more than a knothead and never let go."
Eddie snorts at these words, but during his shift, he can’t stop thinking about it. Fuck, he knows he’s far too young to think about finding a mate, and yet, something weird tugs at his gut when he glances sideways and sees Steve across the corridor, in his blue uniform and smiling to a kid. There’s this pup again, his curls under a cap, Eddie has seen him with Steve other times, they greet each other with a silly handshake that makes Eddie smile despite his best effort to keep his frown.
His hindbrain whines and Eddie reminds it, sulking, that they’re not friends, they’re no less than hereditary enemies. There’s no place in Steve’s life for someone like Eddie.
Eddie is focusing, organizing and reshelving some tapes behind the counter when a soft cough calls his attention and makes him turn around.
“Good ev- Harrington?”
Steve is in front of him, holding two cones in front of him, his blond hair is falling over his eyes but there’s no little white hat, and he’s smiling. Wide and beautiful. At Eddie.
“Hi, Eddie,” Steve greets him, his smile shy and tentative.
“What can I do for you, Captain Harrington?” Eddie teases, his eyes jumping from the ice creams to Steve’s eyes.
“You didn’t come for your ice cream today nor the last days, and I thought…” Steve blushes, his eyes leave Eddie’s. “I thought I could bring it to you, maybe we can have our breaks together?”
Eddie gapes like a fish, opening his mouth with nothing to say, and then closing it again. He manages to mumble something about letting his boss know and Steve’s smile widens.
Lavender and hazelnuts fill his nostrils suddenly when Steve’s scent peaks with joy, and Eddie feels far too weak after his rut, his mind wheeling before the alpha can look for his boss at the backstore.
When the older alpha appears, trailing behind Eddie, he looks at Steve and then at his employee, arching a brow. He doesn’t say a thing, but Eddie feels like Joe knows exactly who was the one triggering the rut that forced Eddie to miss three days of work.
Eddie clears his throat and takes the cone Steve is offering, leading him out the store to find some place where they can sit and eat their ice cream.
“It’s the hazelnut and caramel from last time,” Steve informs him, blushing. But if you'd rather have some other flavor…”
“Nope!” Eddie interrupts him, blushing fiercely but unable to stop his mouth. “I loved this one, honestly, my favorite one so far. Thank you.”
Too much information, too much honesty, but Steve gives him that sweet, flustered smile, and it’s worth it. Eddie stares at Steve licking his own scoop, the one Eddie used to order, chocolate and peanuts.
Eddie doesn’t want to hope.
-
Things change after that evening.
They start looking for each other to share their break time together. Sometimes, if Scoops Ahoy is empty, Robin lets Eddie spend his break with them, perched at the table in their backstore, the three of them eating ice cream. Eddie can’t help but to laugh at the weird friendship antics the young beta and Steve have developed.
Robin used to hate Steve Harrington The King, she confesses to Eddie one lazy evening, the summer is coming to an end and Scoops Ahoy has lesser clients, now. Steve is dealing with a pup that sounds terrifying, no doubt she’ll present as an alpha someday, and she’s demanding free samples for her and her pack of friends.
“And now you’re friends,” Eddie says.
“And now we’re best friends, Eddie,” she corrects. “He’s not like he used to be, I wonder if he ever was like that or if he was, you know, pretending, for survival.”
Robin looks at Eddie, expectant, as if she’s waiting for Eddie to understand some hidden meaning in her words.
“I don’t hate Steve,” Eddie feels the urge to say, and it feels weird to admit it out loud.
“I know,” Robin smirks, making Eddie frown at her. “You reek of sweet blackberries all the time when you’re here, Eddie, I know you don’t hate him.”
“I-... Well, we agree then, we don’t hate Steve Harrington anymore, isn’t that a sign for the Apocalypse that’s to come upon us?” Eddie decides to joke about it, not wanting to acknowledge his burning cheeks or how his belly churns at the mention of his scent when he’s around Steve. And definitely he doesn’t want to listen to his hindbrain and its constant longing for the omega.
“For the Apocalypse, then,” Robin raises her cone - strawberry - and Eddie does the same with his own, chocolate and peanuts and hazelnuts with caramel.
“For the Apocalypse.”
-
“Scoops Ahoy is going to close its doors, at least until next summer,” Steve informs Eddie.
“What?” Eddie asks, fear rising inside him.
Scoops Ahoy is what had transformed their relationship, from hate to an irresponsible crush (at least for the alpha) to a friendship that leaves Eddie breathless, filling him with longing and a burning desire inside and stupid thoughts about a kind of life Eddie had never wanted to think about before. But Steve is his friend now, Steve wants to spend time with him, even outside their working hours, just like they're doing now.
It’s Sunday and they’re both over the roof of Eddie’s van, watching the sun set, parked on the quarry. It’s quiet and still warm, even if they both have their hoodies ready, it’ll be cold at night.
“And what are you and Robin going to do, now?” Eddie asks. He doesn’t want to lose any of them, now that he thinks about it. Eddie realizes he doesn’t want to lose everything he has found this summer.
Steve and Robin, and the whole strange pack that comes with them. Dustin, the curly hair pup that is a total nerd and Eddie has met and discussed DnD with him and his friends. Lucas, Will and that stubborn pup called Mike. Max and El, the young teens like peas in a pod. And Erica, the strong pup that is Lucas’ little sister and the most terrifying person Eddie has ever met, always surrounded by her own group of friends, always leading them.
Eddie feels strangely overprotective towards them all, even if he met them just recently. It’s all because of Steve, he knows and he can’t stop it now. He wants to protect everything that makes Steve happy, even his underpaid job.
“Oh, don’t worry, Scoops Ahoy closes but Spoons Ahoy opens instead!” Steve half laughs, maybe because he’s witnessing Eddie spiraling on his behalf, because Eddie is looking at him with wide, panicked eyes. Steve’s hand rests on Eddie’s face, soothing him immediately, letting Eddie nuzzle his palm and inhaling deeply from Steve’s wrist glands.
“What the fuck is Spoons Ahoy,” Eddie mumbles, losing himself in Steve’s touch and scent.
“A coffee shop, Eds, they’re keeping our jobs, just as baristas now.”
“Hm, ok,” Eddie mumbles, feeling like he’s laying in a field of lavender and eating sweet, roasted hazelnuts, his body going pliant and weightless when Steve pulls him to rest his head on him, over the omega’s clothed chest.
Eddie inhales deeply, ignoring the last rays of sun to better nuzzle the omega’s preppy white and red polo, his arms wrapping around the omega’s thin waist. It’s good, so good, to just stay like this, knowing his omega is safe with him…
“Don’t wanna lose you,” Eddie whispers, not knowing he’s saying it out loud. His hindbrain swimming in a lavender field.
“You won’t, Eds, I promise,” Steve whispers back, his fingers playing with Eddie’s hair and lulling him to sleep.
-
It’s middle September when Spoons Ahoy opens its doors, Robin and Steve wearing matching sailor uniforms again, but long sleeves ones now. Eddie misses being able to see Steve’s pale skin covered in moles, even if the new, sinfully tight white slacks stretch deliciously against the omega’s round ass. The first time Eddie sees Steve’s uniform - at Steve’s house, because they’re friends who hang out almost daily, now -, the alpha wants to bite these clothes off until Steve is bare and underneath him, and Eddie has to force himself to laugh at the ridiculousness of the new uniform when Steve looks at him, expecting an answer to a question Eddie can only imagine by context.
He knows Steve can tell what is he thinking, the omega’s nostrils flaring everytime his scent peaks spicier and sweeter. Ripped blackberry and dark chocolate, as his own boss, Robin and his uncle Wayne had informed him, several times now. Even Gareth has told him about it, in a very Gareth way - that was basically shouting at him in the middle of a band rehearsal - to be an alpha and to start courting Steve already because, in Gareth words: ‘he’s sighing too much and it’s annoying’.
Everyone knows how he feels about Steve Harrington, former king of Hawkins’ High School and actual princess of Eddie’s heart.
Steve is just too kind to ignore it in favor of their friendship.
Anyway, Spoons Ahoy it’s a blast and during the first days Eddie can’t share his break with Steve. He waits in line until he can reach the counter and it’s Robin who’s free for him to take his order; Eddie loves the funny beta girl, but he wanted to see Steve. His deception must be obvious.
“Hey, Steve, this one is yours, actually,” she grins and winks at Eddie before he can even say his hellos. Instead, he mouths her a silent thank you that makes Robin shake her head, smiling softly at him.
“Eds!” Steve greets him with his sweetest smile, his scent peaking sweeter, and it’s like summer again and lavender fields. “I’m sorry, I can’t take my break now…”
“Don’t worry, big boy, just wanted to, you know, say hello,” Eddie mumbles, and knows that Steve is looking at his smitten expression, he can’t even disguise it nowadays, he can’t pull a straight face in front of Steve, not for dear life.
Steve chuckles, making Eddie’s chest puff, his hindbrain whispering the sweetest things in his mind. Perfect omega, so sweet and caring, so beautiful, so strong, perfect mate for me, laughing at my words, wanting me back.
But a beautiful dream, though, to have Steve loving him back.
Wait, what?
“I’ve been trying something new. Want to forgo your usual coffee and take a risk, Munson?” Steve asks him, his cheeks deliciously blushed. He seems shy, hopeful even, as if Eddie had told him no at anything during the last months.
“Aye aye, Captain,” Eddie smirks, making Steve snort at his antics. Fuck.
Eddie can’t stay once Steve hands him two steamy disposable cups, one for Eddie and the other for Joe. He rushes to leave the counter, wishing Steve a nice shift and hoping they could spend more time together. When Eddie retreats to the backstore after offering his boss the second coffee, he takes time to admire Steve’s handwriting in his cup. There’s a little heart instead of a dot over the i on his name.
The alpha smiles at it. Holding the cup with both hands, he inhales the warm aroma, expecting… not knowing what, exactly, but he’s rewarded with strong cocoa and roasted hazelnuts. Their scents mixed sweetly in this cup. It’s like holding scorching hot hope in his hands.
Eddie whines, rushing to give it a sip, burning his tongue in the process but ignoring it because Steve had given him hope and a silly, little heart in his name.
-
It’s Halloween.
Steve says his parents aren’t at home, and invites Eddie, Robin and the pups for a movie night. All the pups have been discussing what movie they should watch first, it’s all sci-fi and horror and Eddie sees an amused Steve, hands on hips and wearing a worn, well loved yellow sweater, playing mom with the pups.
It’s a sight that makes Eddie’s hindbrain go feral, providing him images he doesn’t even want to think right now because, well, he’s surrounded by pups and there’s no doubt they all would know exactly what Eddie is thinking about the omega.
“We can start with Jaws and Alien next and… Wait, who brought The Exorcist? You’re all too young for this movie.”
“Come on Steve, we’re not pups anymore!”
“You won’t be able to sleep later!”
“We’ll nest with you and Eddie, we’ll be fine!”
Steve looks at Eddie at this, blushing fiercely, and Eddie just shrugs. Yes, I want to nest with you and protect these pups that you love as if they were yours and maybe someday we’ll have our own pups in our own nest and… Yeah, yes, Eddie has been thinking about this, sue him - again.
The pups are all tucked on an improvised bed in front of the couch, where Eddie and Steve are sitting together. Robin has claimed the reclining chair for herself, a thick blanket covering from chin to toe, and smiling smugly when she reclines it and gets comfortable.
The movie starts and Eddie startles when Steve gets closer to him, a plush, giant blanket in hands, and smiles at him coyly, a silent question in his shy eyes.
Eddie smiles at him, heart hammering wildly in his chest, laying sideways on the couch and opening his arms for Steve to make himself a place between them.
“I don’t really enjoy horror movies,” Steve confesses in a whisper, covering their bodies with the blanket. “I mean, I’m ok with Jaws, I love Steven Spielberg’s movies, but, Alien?”
Steve wiggles and gets comfortable, taking Eddie’s arms to wrap himself with them, and the alpha has to suppress a purr, but oh, he flushes their bodies together without thinking. Hazelnuts and lavender surround Eddie and it’s summer again.
“Technically, Alien is sci-fi, sweetheart,” Eddie nuzzles Steve’s soft hair. “But I’m here and I’ll keep you safe, I promise.”
Steve lets out a happy chirp and one of their pups - because now they all are their pups - shush at them.
“Would you scent me if I’m scared?” Steve turns his head to whisper at Eddie, their lips brushing slightly. Eddie wants to growl and claim those lips.
“Always,” Eddie whispers back, no, promises him so earnestly it hurts him physically.
Steve pecks him on the tip of his nose and turns his head to watch the movie, seemingly unaffected by Eddie’s inner turmoil, and daring to intertwine their fingers togethers.
Eddie feels like he’s floating, his purr starts in his chest and it’s low enough that the pups wouldn’t hear it, but Steve can feel the rumble of it, pressed as they are back to chest.
A moment after, Steve’s purr starts too, lulling Eddie to a sated, safe state where even his hindbrain gets quiet. It’s the best Halloween of Eddie’s life..
-
It’s a rare occasion, Eddie and Wayne have the day off and they decide to drive to the city, see what’s new.
They take a look at the thrift shop, where Eddie spots a brand new denim jacket, in great conditions and so cheap, perfect for a new battle vest. He also finds a couple of t-shirts and brings them all to the counter where Wayne is waiting for him, his own bounty in his hands.
Eddie drops the clothes on the counter and it's when he sees it. Behind the glass, resting over blue velvet, there's a silver chain attached to a silver blackberry.
“It’s beautiful, right?” The girl at the other side of the counter says.
“It’s perfect for a courting gift,” his uncle Wayne agrees, nudging him with his elbow.
Eddie blushes, but he keeps his mouth closed. For now.
“You don’t strike me as the romantic type, Wayne,” Eddie teases, biting a chip dipped in ketchup.
“What’s yer real question, pup, spit it,” Wayne snorts, devouring his burger. “It’s about that Harrington boy?”
Eddie grunts, hides his face and makes some more grumbling noises his uncle takes as an affirmation.
“H-how do I court an omega?” Eddie asks with a trembling voice, muffled by his hands.
-
Eddie has a plan.
It’s a good plan, it’s a fucking perfect plan and he’s sure that Steve is going to say yes, he’s.. ok, he’s 90% sure that Steve is going to accept his courting gift. They’ve been getting closer and closer, Eddie has been dying to ask, but between their jobs and classes…
It’s an old as fuck tradition, the courting ritual, and nobody does that anymore, but Eddie is an idiot and a romantic and Steve Harrington deserves to be wooed, to be courted. Eddie just hopes Steve says yes. That this is not some kind of joke.
Eddie has the silver blackberry pendant, the one from the thrift store, in a neat, blue velvet box.
He just needs to wait two days. Two days and he’ll give Steve his courting gift on Christmas’ Eve day, during lunch, and he’s going to ask him if he accepts his courting.
No misunderstandings, not hey, I saw this and thought of you, or look! Early Christmas present! No.
A real proposition.
They’re working double shifts because of the holidays, and they have one whole hour for lunch. Eddie runs towards Spoons Ahoy, planning to ask Steve to spend their hour together - as they do now - and finds Steve holding to the counter for dear life, cheeks red and covered in fresh sweat. Thankfully, there are no clients at this hour.
“Stevie!” Eddie shouts and rushes behind the counter, Robin appearing at his screaming.
“Eddie? What… Steve?”
“Steve, sweetheart, are you ok?”
“It’s… too hot,” Steve sighs, tugging at the collar of his sailor uniform.
“Eddie?” Robin asks, scared and scrunching her nose covered in freckles. “Is he… Is he in heat?”
“Y-yeah, yes, smells like it,” Eddie says. Steve’s scent is sweeter than ever, dry lavender under august’s sun and roasted hazelnuts filling and dizzying Eddie’s mind, his own body reacting to his omega’s needs. “He can’t work like this.”
“Go with him, I’ll inform Joe, too.”
“Robin, I can’t… We’re not… He never…” Eddie doesn’t know how to say that he can’t go and betray Steve’s trust. Eddie can’t trust himself, not when Steve is so vulnerable. But Robin basically shoves them towards the exit, ignoring Eddie’s weak protests.
Ok, new plan. Eddie is good at improvising and he’s a firm believer that adaptability it’s a great skill. He has a new plan now.
The new plan is to leave Steve at his house, safe and sound, and then provide for whatever Steve could need.
“Eddie…,” the omega whispers, arching his back in the passenger seat of Eddie’s van. “Eddie, it’s too hot.”
“I know, baby, I know,” Eddie tries to soothe him. “It’s your heat, it’s starting now. I’m going to leave you at home, ok?” Eddie caresses the omega’s face, he’s burning as if in fever.
“Would you spend it with me?” Steve asks, whines hopefully and in pain. Fuck.
“I can’t, baby,” Eddie answers, swallowing around the lump in his throat and driving as carefully as he can while his hindbrain is howling. Steve is whimpering, so close to him, scenting his van. “I want to, you know… Fuck, Stevie, you know that I want to, but I can’t do this to you, not like this.”
“Like this?” Steve asks, frowning even if he keeps whimpering softly.
“You know…” Eddie makes a vague gesture with his hand. “Like this.” He repeats. “In heat, you’re like, hindbrain is in control and all that, right?”
Steve barks an angry, incredulous laugh at Eddie.
“Is that how a rut feels for you?” Steve asks.
The alpha looks at Steve sideways, blushing and feeling like the idiot he is. Nods sharply. All alphas are knotheads, after all, aren’t they?
“Eds… I’m in heat, not drugged,” Steve sighs, clearly annoyed and smelling Eddie’s scent, lips parted and nostrils flaring. “I know what I’m doing, and I’m asking you to spend my heat with me, if you want me.”
If you want me. If you want me.
Eddie growls at that, his hindbrain howling. He reaches to hold Steve’s hand, squeezes hard, the omega feels clammy and scorching hot because of the heat.
“I’ve wanted you for a long time, Stevie, baby.”
Eddie doesn’t remember how they made it to Steve’s house, only that he’s grateful that the Harringtons are always out of Hawkins, because Eddie can’t stop kissing Steve while the omega leads them to his room.
Steve breaks their kiss, their first kiss - not like Eddie had planned but he’s not complaining - and starts rummaging through his room, grabbing blankets and sheets and rearranging his bed. No, his nest.
“Fuck, fuck, I can’t get it right,” the omega sobs after a while, fighting against a pillow.
This is more what Eddie expected, if he’s honest. When the hindbrain takes control, logic goes away and instinct takes everything. Steve is now succumbing to it, groaning and snapping, and Eddie falls in love with him even more.
“Hey, hey, baby,” Eddie gets closer, calmly and with his hands raised up. “May I help you?”
Steve’s face is red, fat tears running down his cheeks. Eddie’s heart breaks a bit at the sight, the urge to fight against whatever it is that is making Steve unhappy too strong, his hindbrain too loud to ignore.
“I have nothing that smells like you,” Steve sobs again, wiping his tears with the sleeve of his uniform.
“We can take care of that, hm?” Eddie reassures and Steve looks at him. “I just, I need to… Can I get closer?”
Eddie’s body is reacting to Steve’s scent, to his heat, and when Steve flares his nostrils, lips parted to chase Eddie’s own scent, he knows the omega is tasting his own arousal. Eddie is already getting hard in his jeans, urgency tugging at him in a new, desperate way. There’s this sudden urge to close all the doors and windows, to make sure his omega is safe here. To make sure they have plenty of food and water and whatever Steve could need.
Steve’s heat is triggering the alpha’s deepest instincts, his own rut. Faster now that he’s with an omega in heat, more desperate if that’s possible, quicker the way his body reacts and his hindbrain shuts down his rational mind. If someone tried to enter the house now, Eddie knows he would fight them with teeth and nails.
The omega nods at him, offers Eddie his hand and the alpha rushes to take it in his, kneels in front of Steve and kisses his hand, nuzzles his warm, soft palm, noses Steve’s wrist glands. It’s so different from every other time, so intimate.
“Stevie, sweetheart, I want to give you whatever you could want,” Eddie whispers against the omega’s wrist, who gasps and thrashes, still fully clothed. His rut is overwhelming him and he needs to do something before he loses it completely. “I just want to know that this… that this is what you really want?”
Eddie’s speech is slurred, he can feel it, like he’s drunk but still thinking properly. Still in charge of himself but not for long, and hopes Steve is still in charge of himself, too.
No, of course they’re not drugged, as Steve said, and maybe it’s different for the omega. But Eddie? He knows he’s losing his mind, he needs to be sure. He needs to claim, the only way he can, now.
“Eddie, I told you, I know what I… oh.”
The alpha, who has been carrying the blue velvet box with him for weeks now, too anxious to leave it at home and yet patting it on his pocket every five minutes, is now holding it in front of Steve.
“Eds? Is this…?”
“Open it, please,” Eddie begs, his hips bucking, armpits stinging, his rut coming to him in waves of painful need. “You don’t have to say yes but fuck, I… I hope you say yes, Stevie, I just… I want to ask you… I’ve been wanting for a long time, actually, never sure if you… if you ever…”
He’s rambling, his hindbrain snarling inside him. If Steve rejects him, and still wants Eddie to stay, Eddie doesn’t know if he’ll survive that. If Steve wants him to leave, Eddie would leave the country, leave it for good and never look back.
Steve opens the box and his eyes widen, the light brown swallowed by the black of his pupils, his delicate fingertip caressing the simple pendant.
“A blackberry,” he whispers. “Eddie, is a silver blackberry.”
Steve is smiling when he looks at Eddie.
“It’s… a courting gift, Stevie,” Eddie reassures, his intentions clear, or so he hopes.
“You always smell like ripe blackberries and chocolate when we’re together,” Steve smiles, his eyes bright.
“Yeah,” Eddie agrees, breathless. “Do you accept it?”
Eddie finds himself with a lapful of happy, chirping omega who is peppering kisses all over his face. They fall to the ground, Steve stradling him, and Eddie hugging Steve back, laughing, feeling weightless and yet like he’s a supernova.
“I thought… Eddie, what took you this long?” Steve pouts before grinning again. “Of course I accept it, silly alpha, help me?”
They stand clumsily, clawing at the last moments of rational thinking to enjoy this moment. Eddie closes the chain around Steve’s neck, takes his chance to kiss at the moles right there in his jaw, the omega shivering under his touch.
After that, it’s all a blur. Steve undresses himself hastily, tossing the uniform somewhere, leaving only the new silver blackberry, and urges Eddie to do the same. The omega steals Eddie’s handkerchief and puts it on his nest, next goes Eddie’s t-shirt, faded and soft and comfortable, and the alpha knows Steve is going to keep his favorite t-shirt when he nuzzles it, pressing it against his face and inhaling deeply. He feels a deep rush of pride, smiling wolfishly, thinking: mine.
“Better?” Eddie manages to ask when Steve deems the nest good enough.
“No,” Steve answers, takes his hands and pulls at him until Eddie is on the nest, laughing, laying barenaked for Steve to touch and scent and enjoy. “Ok, now, perfect.”
They can’t keep talking after that, their needs far too urgent to deny them now that they’re together. Eddie is not a virgin, but he has never shared a nest with an omega in heat, nor has he spent his rut with someone, and it’s so intense, so overwhelming.
It’s so good. So fucking amazing, he’s not ready for something like this, and yet, he can’t believe he’s been living without this.
Steve’s skin is burning and dripping wet when Eddie gets his mouth on him, his little cocklet throbbing in his tongue under the alpha’s ministrations while his own cock is aching, leaking precum all over the nest.
“Alpha, alpha, I need you,” are the last coherent words Steve pronounces that night. Eddie has half a mind to grab one of the condoms Steve tossed into the nest.
Eddie kisses him while he breaches him, his cunt so wet and ready for him, swallowing him to the hilt, until he’s buried deep in the omega.
“Omega,” Eddie worships him, and knows he’ll always worship Steve.
The omega thrashes and bites him in his shoulders and arms, leaving the marks he can while avoiding his mating gland. Eddie hopes they can claim each other in the future.
They wail and whine, their moans and breath mingling, Eddie rolling his hips chasing Steve’s pleasure again and again, the feeling of his walls clenching around him making him believe in a higher power.
“Alpha, alpha, alpha,” Steve chants, and tugs at Eddie’s dark curls, making the alpha growl, his hips stuttering, the knot at his base swelling and catching at Steve’s entrance.
A powerful, earth-shattering orgasm hits Eddie and leaves him breathless, knotting them together. The alpha howls at the sensation, Steve all around him even if he’s still underneath the alpha. The omega is milking him, riding his own pleasure, and Eddie loses himself in their mixed scents and the overwhelming truth that is to admit at last that he actually is in love with Steve Harrington.
-
Eddie awakes to the sound of a rumbling, loud purr. His muscles are sore and he’s thirsty and hungry as never before, but he’s also sated and happy, his own purr starting happily when he remembers the night before.
“Morning, sleeping beauty,” Eddie whispers, kissing Steve’s rumbling chest, nuzzling him and feeling absurdly proud of their mingled scents, plus the mess of sweat and slick and overall smell of sex.
“Hngmng,” Steve mumbles, his fingers tangled in Eddie’s fingers and playing idly.
Eddie props over his elbows to look at the magnificent sight that is Steve Harrington, completely naked in the morning light, in the mess of a nest they made together last night. The alpha smiles, completely smitten.
“Is it still too hot, baby?” Eddie asks, and kisses Steve’s lips, softly.
“Hm, not now, but… soon,” Steve answers, biting his lower lip, his soft gaze locked in Eddie’s eyes. He touches his own chest, finds the silver blackberry, and a shiver runs down his spine, Eddie feels like shivering, too. “You meant it?”
“The courting gift? Of course, sweetheart.”
Steve nods, biting his lower lip. Eddie has the need to kiss him again.
“And that you want to give me everything I want? Would you scent me when I’m scared? All that, you meant it?”
“Yeah, omega, I meant it, I mean it… Do you still accept my courtship?” Eddie needs to know, needs to be sure. He’ll probably need to hear it often, still feeling like a dream.
“Yes, Eds,” Steve’s laugh sounds like a chirp, far too adorable. “Do you realize that I’ve been flirting with you since you started working at Divinyl Records, right?”
Eddie blinks once, twice. Wants to say that, yes, that he knew all this time, but the truth is that he’s still wondering if all this is really happening.
“I- Sure.”
Steve chuckles, wraps his legs around the alpha’s waist and pulls at him until they’re kissing again, the urgency rising slowly, letting them enjoy their kiss.
-
During their lunch on Christmas’ Eve day, Starcourt bursting with people doing last time shopping, Eddie and Steve sit closer than usual. The omega is almost sitting in Eddie’s lap, and the alpha can’t stop nuzzling at his boyfriend’s hair and neck. He feels invincible.
Steve shoves a black velvet box towards Eddie, and kisses him right in his scent gland under his ear, making the alpha growl in pleasure.
“What’s this?” Eddie asks, lips curling in a smile.
“Just open it, Eds,” Steve smiles.
Eddie obliges and opens the box to reveal a silver hazelnut.
“Yes, Eddie Munson,” Steve whispers in his ear. “I accept your courting.”
