my headcanons for genshin characters

includes: kazuha, xiao, ei, shenhe, heizou and shinobu

heizou

heizou is a dog person, he loves to feed the dogs in inazuma and he gets along with them well! definitely would own a dog if he wasn't so busy with detective work.

heizou is the type of guy who would let you do his makeup and paint his nails. he's comfortable with himself and thinks he looks so good with makeup and nail polish on.

heizou is so observant, it's impossible to hide anything from him because he knows all your quirks and the meaning of your facial expressions.

in addition to his observant self, he knows everything about you by heart. your likes, dislikes, favorites and etc.

heizou's favorite joke to make is just going up to you and accusing you of theft. if you ask him what you stole, he'll just give you a kiss then say "my heart."

xiao

xiao has an amazing singing voice but absolutely refuses to sing. if you do catch him singing though, he sounds like an angel.

xiao cuts his hair with his spear, sometimes it gets too long and he doesn't like it when his hair gets in his eyes.

xiao might huff and puff if you ask him to do his eyeliner but he finds your concentrated face so cute that he lets you.

xiao blushes so easily and is so embarrassed about it, his cheeks get so red and warm it's adorable.

he might not say it out loud at first but you soothe the pain of xiao's karmic debt, he feels much more relaxed and comfortable around you.

kazuha

kazuha has a few freckles on his cheeks and nose but they only get visible when he's around the sun for too long.

beidou said sometimes flowers come out of kazuha's mouth when he speaks. due to that when kazuha opens his mouth half of the population just falls for him and he doesn't do it on purpose.

kazuha is the best person to go for advice, he's just so understanding and empathetic so he can give the perfect advice for the situation.

even if you don't want advice, kazuha is great listener and he will listen without interrupting. he's very good at comforting too! his sooting voice and gentle touches are so calming.

when you treat kazuha's burned hand for him, it just warms his heart. he swears his hand hurts less when you take care of it.

ei's chest is sensitive because that's where her soul and power is contained, any touch just sends shivers down her spine.

makoto used to braid ei's hair, that's why she always keeps it in a braid. if you braid her hair, she gets really emotional.

we know ei is a horrible cook but on special occasions, with some help ei would try her hardest to cook your favorite food.

if you're afraid of or disturbed by thunderstorms, ei will calm them down for you.

ei has a soft spot for kids, she can't say no to their puppy dog eyes.

shenhe

shenhe can ice skate, just like in her birthday voice line, shenhe likes to freeze lakes and just skate. she's so elegant too!

shenhe was confused on what people do on spa days but she loved it when you guys tried it together. she enjoyed painting your nails and you painting hers, she was a little weirded out by the face masks but the result was really worth it.

shenhe is the type of girl who would link pinkies together when she's nervous.

don't let shenhe catch anyone who dares to disturb you, i don't think even the traveler couldn't stop her from beating their ass.

shenhe loves making gifts for you, she gets a little nervous when handing them to you but your happy face calms her.

shinobu

shinobu is incredibly ticklish, sometimes itto tries to tickle her but ends up getting his ass kicked.

shinobu gets so used to wearing her mask that she feels a little shy without it. if you take off her mask and give her a nose kiss, she would just melt.

when facing danger, shinobu's first instinct is to get you behind her, she's very protective of you.

shinobu wears glasses when she's reading or studying, glasses really suit her too!

shinobu is a great teacher, she might not the most patient person ever but she tries her best to teach you anything you would like. she loves your concentrated self and if you try to impress her, she would fight the urge to squish your cheeks.

A Piece Without You [Kazuha x Reader]

(Modern AU) Inspired by Your Lie In April

I almost forgot that I posted something and I didn't really know what to post next lmao. I wrote this since April is still here and thought this idea fit perfectly for this month (published at april 30, that was close-)

no spoilers really and I guess angst?? (i don't think this will be emotional as the anime but yeah)

Enjoy!

Your whole life was nothing but wonderful. Sure, there were still ups and downs, but you fulfilled yourself a great life.

You were from Sumeru City and moved to Inazuma City because of your parent's work. Even so, you still managed to come in contact with your friends from Sumeru and make friends in Inazuma.

And ever since you were a child, you loved nothing but playing the piano.

You had performed so much back in Sumeru and still managed to play a few performances in Inazuma.

Because of your love for music, you loved to become a pianist. You were excited to achieve it in your whole life.

Well, that is...

Until you found out you were diagnosed with a chronic illness. It was an unknown illness and was rare around Sumeru: Eleazar.

Your parents were devasted when they found out about the news. Sometimes, you think this was one of the reasons you moved to Inazuma.

Unfortunately, the doctors couldn't treat you right because Eleazar wasn't recorded to have a cure.

You were upset about it and still are. But even so, that still didn't stop you from playing the piano or being happy again.

You still had things you wanted to achieve. Even though you can't live long, you want to make the most of it in Inazuma.

When you made new friends in Inazuma, you ultimately decided not to tell them about your illness. You felt like if you tell them about it, it would bring everyone down for a long time and affect them.

Of course, you'd have to tell them at some point, but you wanted to enjoy your time together with your new friends without your illness in the way.

It was only your first day, and you immediately got yourself, great friends.

Unfortunately, your new friends: Yoimiya, Heizou, Shinobu, and Itto, have different classes, so you tried to find your way to your class.

But as you were walking, you heard a beautiful melody. It sounded gentle, and the sound just put you at ease.

Deciding to check where it came from, you found the music coming from an empty classroom.

You peeked through the door to find the source of the melody. The gentle music was played by a guy playing the flute.

Your cheeks flushed a light shade of red as you took in the boy's appearance.

He had platinum blonde hair with a noticeable red-orange streak and red eyes.

'He's pretty…' You thought as he continued to play the flute.

Suddenly, he stops which made you confused, wanting him to play more. Unexpectedly, he slowly turns his head toward your direction, slightly widening his eyes at you.

'Oh no!' You blushed even more as you stopped peaking and hide behind the door completely. God, you were embarrassed.

"Excuse me?" You jumped and turned your head to see the boy next to you. "Did you need something?"

"Oh, no, I don't!" You quickly said. "I'm sorry, I was just... I thought your playing was lovely."

He looked surprised for a moment before giving you a gentle smile. "Ah, I see. It's okay, and thank you."

You smiled at him. "Oh, right! My name is (Name)!"

"Oh, (Name)? The transfer student?"

"Uh, yes I am. How did you know?"

"Oh, it's just my friends kept talking about you." He said, which made you confused since you hadn't met anyone else other than your friends.

"Who are your friends?"

"Ah, well, I'm good friends with Heizou and Yoimiya." Oh, his answer made sense.

"Oh, you know them? That's great!" You said, thinking this is a step to becoming friends with him.

He smiled back but then remembered his introduction. "Oh, and my name is Kaedehara Kazuha. But please, Kazuha is perfectly fine!"

"Nice to meet you, Kazuha!"

Months have passed, and ever since you met, you two became nothing but close.

And since he played the flute and you played the piano, you grew more connected with him as you played together as a duet sometimes.

At first, he was reluctant to play the flute again and even play with you. Because of some things he never mentioned to you.

But ever since, you tried to help him get out of there and encourage him to continue playing.

The more connected you two have been, the more your feelings for him grew.

"I'm sorry for your loss." Those were the words Kazuha made out from the doctor as he broke down in the empty hospital.

Ever since that day, he became nothing but filled with regret.

Tomo, his best friend, got into a car accident and died by saving him.

He remembers that day all too well. He could remember his body being pushed out of the road. He could remember seeing his best friend bleeding out. He could remember the people around them shouting to call the ambulance and the driver crying and apologizing.

He remembers crying and holding him, desperately calling him to wake up.

And since then, Kazuha suddenly stopped playing the flute.

Tomo loved to watch him play it and always encouraged Kazuha to keep playing. But, after that, he doesn't know if he could play again.

Of course, he wanted to keep playing. He loved his flute very much to let it go. But his regret of his friend's death held him back so much that he couldn't play what he loved the most.

Sometimes, he still managed to play it, but those are rare things to encounter.

If he hadn't played the flute in that empty classroom, he wouldn't have met you.

For a long time, he was grateful he played the flute again.

After a few days of meeting in the empty classroom, he was surprised to find you playing the piano in the music room.

"Wow, you play the piano so well," Kazuha said admiringly. You thanked him shortly before playing the piece again. "Can I ask, how long have you been playing the piano?"

You stopped playing before answering him. "Hmm, I guess since I was seven? I can't really remember that much, but I've always loved to play the piano!"

When your fingers were about to press the keys again, you remember his flute. "Oh, that reminds me. Do you think you could play the flute again?"

You noticed he slightly jumped at your sudden request, and you thought you made him uncomfortable. "Oh, I'm sorry! Did I say something wrong? You don't have to if you don't want!"

"No, no, no! It's okay!" He said quickly which made you sigh. "It's just…"

You noticed his tone sounded a bit sad. He then muttered. "I don't really play the flute anymore…"

"What! Why!?" You shouted in shock. He was so good when you met him, and you find out he stopped playing!?

He didn't respond and only looked down at the floor. He heard you sigh and felt your hands on his shoulders which made him look up.

"Sorry, you don't need to tell me. It's just..." You trailed off, thinking carefully about your words. "You were so good playing at it a few days ago."

"Thanks, but…" He muttered. "I just can't."

You looked at him with concern as he looked down. You thought for a moment and an idea popped out.

You snapped your fingers to his face which made him look up again. "Hey, look up and look at me. Don't look down."

"Come on," You said as you grabbed his hand.

"Huh, wait, where are we going?" He asked.

"We're going to have fun; come on!" You said before dragging him out of the music room, ignoring his yells of protest.

You decided to help get his mind off the negative feelings he must've been feeling earlier, so you two hung out at different cafes, parks, and malls.

After that, Kazuha ended up having a bright smile on his face; he forgot why he was so down earlier.

//A FEW DAYS LATER//

It was a new day, and you signed up for a music contest. And somehow, you managed to get Kazuha to come to play with you.

You two were in the waiting room, and you were going through your piece sheets. You were calm, and Kazuha was panicking as he scanned the sheets.

"What's wrong?" You say, noticing his distress.

"Sorry, it's just… I don't know if I can do this." Kazuha muttered. "It's been quite a while since I've performed in front of other people."

"It's okay. I understand," You reassuringly smiled at him. "But, I'm sure you will do good-"

You paused, seeing him still in his thoughts as he scrambled through the sheets.

You pouted and took a deep breath before slamming your forehead against his, which startled him.

"W-What the!?" He yelled as he clutched his forehead in pain. "What was that for!?"

"That's for being an idiot and for looking down again!" You shouted back in response. Surprisingly, no one heard you two.

As Kazuha tried to soothe his forehead, he felt you moving his head. He looked up and see you leaning your forehead to his.

"Look at me." You muttered as he watched with wide eyes.

"Keep your head up and look at me. You're like that because you keep looking down. It's okay. We can do it. I know you can do it."

It was silent for a moment as the platinum blonde-haired male took in your words. Before he could say anything else, both of your names were called.

"Oh, looks like it's our turn now!" You beamed. "Let's go."

The next thing for you and Kazuha was that you were standing on the stage in front of many people who clapped for you.

You were seated in front of the piano as Kazuha stood near you, with his flute ready in his hand.

You both took a moment to settle yourself. After a while, you began by starting the first few of your notes. Kazuha waited a bit before starting his part, being in sync with the piano.

Everyone watched you both in awe, including your friends who came to support you.

"Wow, I never thought (Name) was good at playing the piano!" Yoimiya silently cheered.

Heizou nodded. "Yeah, and I'm glad to see Kazuha playing the flute again."

"They're both so cool!" Itto beamed quietly as Shinobu chuckled.

"Aww, I wish the others could see this. I think they would absolutely like (Name)," said Yoimiya, referring to her other friends you haven't met yet.

"Well, after this, we can try to introduce them to them," Shinobu said which Yoimiya agreed.

And as both of you were playing more and more intense, everyone started to muttered in admiration.

"Wow, they're both so good!" "This is incredible!" "I hope they win"

At some point in his performance, he started to get overwhelmed by the amount of attention put on both of you. He tried focusing more, trying not to mess up.

He made eye contact with you and immediately remembered your words.

'Don't look down. Look up and look at me.' 'We can do this.' 'I know you can do it.'

Kazuha ignored his overwhelming thoughts as he continued to play.

He missed playing the flute.

You were watching him play freely with a soft smile before focusing your attention on your piano.

You both played and played.

After a while, Kazuha's flute began dying down before you softly pressed the piano keys, creating a soft melody before stopping, indicating you both were done.

It was silent in the auditorium before one person started to clap loudly, and everyone join in as they cheered.

You could make out the screams of your friends as you and Kazuha breathed heavily.

You both turned to each other. You gave Kazuha a wide smile with laughing. He returned your smile and chuckled along with you.

//ANOTHER FLASHBACK - WEEKS AFTER THE MUSIC CONTEST//

You and Kazuha were walking and chatting along the way.

"Seriously, I just know that guy was cheating off of me!" You exclaimed.

"Hehe, you just can't admit defeat in that card game." He chuckled as you pouted.

While walking on a bridge, you notice the sky turning yellow and orange, realizing it will almost be the sunset. You lean on the bridge railing, admiring the view. Kazuha also did the same next to you with a soft smile. The silence was peaceful until you spoke up.

"Hey, Kazuha," You trailed off as the male beside you hummed in response. "Would you want to participate in another competition?"

The male beside you widened his eyes. He stayed silent, pondering your question. "I'm not sure."

You looked at him as he looked down again. "Are you scared again?"

He didn't say anything.

"You know," He turned to you as you started off with a soft voice, "I remember when I was young, I was always scared of the spotlight. I mean, I still am. The thought of presenting something in front of a big audience terrifies me. It's not always that; I'm sometimes scared to show others. I'm scared that if I come up to the stage, I will mess up or think nobody will like it.

But no matter how I felt, I always played."

You made eye contact with him as he took in your words again.

"I see," Kazuha muttered.

You then flashed him another bright smile which confused him. "You know what? Follow me!"

He was about to ask what you meant before exclaiming in worry when you got up to the bridge's railing. "Hey, wait! What are you doing!?"

"Let's take a chance in moving forward! Come on!" You said before yelling and jumping into the water below as he exclaimed again.

He looked at the water, frantically looking for you. You then popped your head out of the water and looked at him from above, laughing while playing with the water.

"Come on! Come here with me!"

He looked below you, still processing. With your words playing in his head, he suddenly replays a similar scene in his mind…

"3, 2, 1! WEEEEE!" Tomo shouted happily as Kazuha shouted in fear as they both jumped from above. Both heads came out of the water before they looked at each other and burst out laughing as they played with the water.

His eyes softened at you and sighed. '…You just know how to make me smile, do you?' He didn't realize his cheeks were turning red.

Finally joining you, he went up to the bridge's railings and jumped. His whole body went into the water as you waited for him to come out.

He popped out of the water and turned to you.

"Hehe, how was it?" You smiled at him.

He then bursted out laughing. "It was scary! But I felt great!"

You were surprised before laughing alongside him. You then splashed water on his face, making him stop before giving you a mischevious smirk.

You both ended up playing in the water, completely wet. But you both enjoyed it, that's all that matters.

In the end, you knew that you liked him.

Those were the greatest memories you both have cherished together within the past few months.

With you on his side, Kazuha grew to play the flute more and more again because you.

Yes, both of you gained mutuals feelings to each other. But obviously, the two of you didn't know the other felt the same way.

You also grew more connected with your other friends a lot more.

You felt like everything in Inazuma was perfect.

Until

At some point, you and Kazuha played once again on stage.

Playing intense pieces and being overwhelmed wasn't anything new to you when you play the piano because you get into it.

It was only the middle of the performance. But for some reason, you felt lightheaded. You didn't know what was happening.

Your world begins spinning, and your vision is becoming blurry. You tried to deal with it as you continued playing, but it grew worse and worse.

You will hate yourself for this later, but you have no choice.

You stopped playing mid-performance. Shocked, everyone's attention was all on you. Kazuha had also stopped playing.

"What the?" "Why did she stop?" "She was doing so good…" "The other guy stopped for her"

You got up from your seat, clutching your head in pain as it became worse. You barely hear Kazuha saying your name with a lace of worry in his voice.

You looked at him with a blurry vision. And that was the last thing you see before your body fell to the sides and everything went dark.

The reason you fainted was because of your Eleazar.

And what's worse, you were forced to tell your friends about it now. This wasn't how you planned to reveal them.

It became even worse when the doctor said that my Eleazar is becoming more effective and that I might not have a lot of months to live. Now, everyone's mood is down.

"Guys, really, I'm fine." You smiled, reassuringly to them.

"Why didn't you tell us before?" Yoimiya asked.

You sighed. "I knew you'd guys would react this way."

While you and the others converse, Kazuha stayed silent, still processing over the news.

Heizou noticed this and decided to lead Kazuha out of the room. Itto watched them in concern before following them.

You watched him leaving, feeling guilty.

For the next few weeks, you stayed in the hospital as your body weakened more because of your illness.

Your friends visit you from time to time. But, for some reason, Kazuha hasn't been seeing you that much. He still visits a few times, but not frequently as your other friends.

You felt like you two were falling apart since you were best friends. Your feelings stayed the same even if you thought he hated you now.

So, you were surprised that one day when you rested, you saw him entering your room.

"Hey," He said as he seated beside you. You greeted him back.

You both didn't say anything else, making the silence more awkward.

"Kazuha?" You said, gaining his attention. "I'm sorry for not telling you."

"It's fine." He sighed. "How are you feeling?"

"I'm fine." You smiled. "Hey, have you been playing?"

"No, not really."

"Thought so. But don't you have a contest soon? Why?"

"...I just can't anymore."

'Because music takes away people I care about.' Kazuha thought. 'I can't handle it anymore. I already lost Tomo, and I'm going to lose you next. I'll be all alone again."

"You know, I want to live." You suddenly spoke, making his attention on you again.

You smiled sadly. "I don't know how much time I have left. But I'm going to fight. I'll fight whatever comes my way so I can live for myself. I want to eat my favorite treats again. I want to play the piano again. I want to hang out with my friends again. I want to hang out with you again."

"In the next few days, you will fight for yourself. You'll do that when you play the flute again in the contest." You paused before sighing. "So, let's keep fighting hard together for ourselves."

His eyes widened at your words. But then suddenly, he sighed. "I'm afraid."

"Hm, afraid of what?"

"I'm afraid of losing you." You were surprised, but let him continue. "(Name), you're my best friend. I enjoy playing with you and hanging out with you. But for some reason, I'm more afraid than you are. I'm afraid of being alone."

You didn't say anything for a few moments before sighing. "You won't ever be alone. Even when I'm gone, I'll be watching you guys above the clouds."

"But your wrong about one thing. I am afraid."

He turned to you and gasped as he saw your broken smiles, with tears forming in your eyes. "Of course, I'm afraid. I'm afraid that I'll never see you guys. I'm afraid I won't live soon. I'm... afraid of dying."

You put your head on his chest, wrapping yourself around him as he hugged back immediately. "...I don't want to die. I want to live. There's still so much I want to do. There's so much I haven't done yet. I want to be with my friends. I want to be with my parents. I want to be with you. But, I'm scared."

You started sobbing on his shirt, but he didn't care. "I'm scared! I'm so scared! I-I don't want to die!"

His heart broke. He hugged you tighter, giving you silent comfort as you continued to cry.

...

After a few days, you ended up dying in your hospital bed because of Eleazar.

It was the same day as Kazuha's flute competition. He won at that time, already knowing you passed away.

It has been a few days since your funeral.

Your parents and your friends mourning about it for a while, but they will never forget about you.

Kazuha and his friends are walking to school together. All of them are laughing and chatting.

"Hey, Kazuha?" Itto's loud voice rang to him. "Have you read the letter?"

"What letter?" Shinobu asked.

"He got a letter from (Name)'s parents," Heizou answered.

"No, I haven't yet, but I will later."

Moments later, it was finally lunchtime. Every student is instantly popping out of their classrooms; most of the hallways are flooded with chatter.

Kazuha excused himself from his friends and went to the rooftop.

He spotted an empty bench and sat down while he pulls out his lunch. As so, he pulled out the letter from his pocket. Thus, he began to read it.

'Dear, Kaedehara Kazuha

How are you? I hope you did your best in the competition. And I hope you looked up instead of looking down.

You know...

I'm happy I moved to Inazuma

I never thought Inazuma would create an impact on me.

Of course, I could never forget my childhood back in Sumeru

But I loved Inazuma just as much as I loved my old home.

I loved my friends so much. And I'm happy they introduced me to the others.

But I'm happy to meet you too.

When I first met you, the sound of your flute was so beautiful. It was so peaceful, gentle, and angelic; it was simply beautiful.

I never heard something so beautiful before.

I was disappointed you stopped playing in the empty classroom because of me. I recalled being surprised when you told me you didn't play the flute often.

But I understood. It must've been hard for you to lose someone.

Oh, I know about Tomo.

Shinobu once told me about him when I was in the hospital. Don't blame her; blame me for asking about your reason.

You stopped playing because you lost your number-one supporter.

You know, after a few days since we met in that empty classroom, I asked our friends if you played the flute a lot.

I found out you did, but you stopped. I didn't know the reason exactly at that time, but they said it was because of guilt.

Even though I couldn't understand why you stopped, I focused solely on one thing: You love the flute.

I made you enter a contest with me because I wanted you to play the flute again.

I knew how much you loved playing it, but you were too afraid to play it. That's why I tried to help you find your love in it again.

I didn't want you to stop playing as a way to deal with the loss of your friend.

That's why I wanted you to look forward. Remember? Don't look down. Just continue looking forward.

I remember jumping off that bridge together. It was so fun and I had a blast playing with you.

I enjoyed our so-called mall 'dates' together. Thank you for buying me the things I liked, even though they were so simple.

I had so much fun spending time together with our friends. I want to thank Yoimiya for helping me pick my outfits. I loved my talks with Heizou and Shinobu about our favorite novels. I could never stop laughing and thinking about Itto raging in TCG. I had so much fun talking to you about the things we enjoy and do not.

Remember playing together? I adored those moments the most because it's when we played something we both loved.

I loved that your music filled my heart each time you played it so wonderfully. It's so little, but I will forever cherish it.
