Summary: Mihawk has been up with your daughter, soothing her as she experiences her leap weeks. You spend some moments with your husband as he holds her in his arms.
Warnings: husband!mihawk x wife!reader, father!mihawk x mother!reader, sweet domesticity, brief mention of birth trauma.
Notes: small drabble brought on by the ask of @hungrhay. Got the cogs turning in my mind. I hope you enjoy this little drabble!
Tag list: @sordidmusings, @writingmysanity, @gingernut1314, @feral-artistry
Soft melodic hums cascaded down the empty halls of Castle Kuraigana. No whisper of a word, nor fall of a footstep, broke your trance as you sought out the source of the melody. You silenced the drop of your slipper against the cool floor, in an attempt to not shatter the world Mihawk was crafting for himself so early in the morn.
You knew where you’d find him. He was where he always was at this time of night. The kitchen was his place where he’d find the most solace, resting his body in a chair with his feet slotted beneath the dining table. The cryptid hours where your daughter would be at her peak of restlessness, the purple crying she’d been producing during her leap weeks held you hostage to her woes. The first time you had experienced this leap had you both struggling and clasping at straws for solutions.
He began calling on your household Den-Den-Mushi, all those who you both knew had experience with young children: starting with Vice-Admiral Garp. He proceeded to bark his laughter and give you hope of: “this too shall pass,” and sending you a small crate of rum in sympathy.
The next point of contact you had sense to call was Shanks and his Red-Hair crew. Shanks was absolutely no help to you with any advice, the jovial hooting and hollering in their drunken stupor in the background having all cohesive words falling on deaf ears. The receiver Den-Den-Mushi was stolen from Shank’s hand, and into the mouthpiece barked the burly voice of the first mate.
“Mihawk. The nights are long, but the years are short. You’ll get through this,” his gruff voice informed him, inhaling deeply from his cigarette. Upon his exhale, he offered a soft word of advice, “You’re a swordsman, one of the warlords of the seas. You have been through worse, she has not. Be kind to your wife. Let her have the night to rest.” Mihawk offered no further conversation, but greatly appreciated the compassion the First-Mate of his oldest rival offered him.
As you stood in the threshold of the doorway, you witnessed your husband cradling your daughter into his chest and continuing to sooth her. His gentle hums and slow rock of his body had her eyes heavy and falling closed. It was an old tune, the native rasp of his mother tongue falling from his lips as he whispered the words with his hum.
“You are going to have the world fall on their knees, my Little Sparrow,” he whispered down into her hair. His lips caressed her scalp, watching as he deeply inhaled the scent of her bundles of silken hair. His deep frown softened, his honeyed eyes closing as he leant back into his chair. As he lulled his head against the frame of the chair, you approached him and placed a hand on his cheek. He opened his eyes a small crack, sighing as he felt your lips press against his forehead.
“She started early, didn’t she?” You asked him, his response being a small hum in confirmation falling from his nose. You brushed your nose with his before turning to place the kettle on the stove and lighting the flame.
“Did you rest well, my love?” his lazy drawl called over to you, voice only harboring affection and adoration with his question. You sighed with your smile, grasping the handles of two mugs and beginning the routine of readying your morning dose of caffeine. Guilt wracked your heart, your brows upturning and lips pouting. Before you could utter a response, Mihawk’s reprimand called out to you.
“Don’t you dare,” His words sliced your worries like the fell swift of his blade, Yoru, “It has been eight weeks since she’s been with us, and you are still recovering from the trauma of her birth. Don’t you dare, my love.”
You sighed, your shoulders slouching at his comments. It was true, your body was still recovering from bringing life’s first breath to your daughter; your routines shifting and adjusting to her each subtle moment, lives changed forever. He was nothing but supportive of your recovery, doting on his girls with his attention equally.
“Thank you,” you sighed, turning with both his and your coffees prepared, placing his on the table in front of him and elevating yours to your lips. Your daughter began to stir in his arms, her lip quivering as the groggy girl opened her eyes once more.
He immediately recommenced his humming and rocking of her, staring down into her own honeyed eyes as his lullaby soothed her once more.
“My love,” you slowly called out to him, placing your coffee down on the table beside his and walking behind the chair, “I read that these leap weeks only occur when children are learning a new skill.” His humming ceased as you both stared down into her eyes.
“I wonder what our Little Sparrow is learning to bring on such cries of grief,” he muttered, looking down into her eyes in curiosity. You drew your own eyes down to meet your daughter’s, her eyes darting between each of you as she lay on her stomach on Mihawk’s chest.
It was then you saw it: the small twinkle of recognition behind her gaze. The upturn of the corners of her eyes and her cheeks balling in two perfect rotund spheres.
Your daughter was smiling. Truly smiling. The first smile not induced by wind, nor a grimace as she experienced pain in her belly. She was smiling at you both.
An audible sigh fell from your husband, his lips circling and forming a soft “O” shape as his eyes softened. Your eyes pricked at the corners, witnessing such pure and unbridled happiness from your daughter as your husband became hypnotized by her radiancy.
“All the cries in the twilight hours are worth it to see your smile, Little Sparrow,” he whispered, taking her small cheek within his palm and smoothing over her skin with his thumb. You circled your arms over his shoulders, pressing your lips against his whiskered cheek before staring at your daughter.
“She is going to accomplish such wonderful things,” you uttered down into her, your voice up-pitched and playful, “Aren’t you, little Sparrow?” Her toothless grin widened, an inhaled coo squeaked from her lips as drool began to glisten at the corner of her lips.
Mihawk turned his head to gaze at you, his eyes half-lidded as he witnessed such sweetness occurring between his wife and daughter. He slowly raked his eyes over your smiling expression, your prior slumber written on your face as you gazed lovingly at your daughter in his arms. He wanted to hold this moment close, committing every subtle change to memory to draw on when your daughter picked up on her inconsolable cries tomorrow night.
It was all worth it: every cry, every disruption to his sleep schedule, every coffee bringing him life-sustaining energy. It was worth each and every night he soothed her cries and hummed his melodies, just to have this moment with you.
Breaking himself away from his enraptured hypnosis, he quickly arched his head forwards and pressed his lips against your cheek. You broke your attention away from your daughter and hastily turned your head to claim his lips against your own. The swell of his heart was tangibly felt in each moment he held your lips beneath his.
His appreciation, his adoration, his love for you felt with the soft hum of his voice against your lips: his eyes closed, brow furrowed and lips smooth against your own. Breaking away, he smiled lazily at you and held his twinkling gaze against your own. Elevating his voice, he allowed himself to ponder with you.
“I wonder if she will have your laugh, or she will have mine.”

To the Nonnie who asked me about the mass grave in Gaza, you're pretty close to the truth of it rather than the anti-Israel propaganda.
First of all, the mass grave next to the hospital in Gaza has been shown already to have been dug before Israel got there.
Tumblr media
Now, it wasn't untouched by the Israeli army, but that is a result of two contributing factors, both of which linked to Hamas.
One is because of the bodies of terrorists, who were using the hospital, and were killed during the fighting. They had to be buried somewhere. This is the Nasser hospital, the biggest medical center which was still active in Gaza after the very biggest, the Shifa hospital, had to be raided twice, because Hamas terrorists returned and re-took it, after the IDF evacuated it to allow the place to function as normal. If during the second operation in the Shifa hospital, there were 200 terrorists killed there, and at least 900 more suspects arrested, of which at least 500 were confirmed terrorists as of the end of the operation on April 1, how many terrorists were fighting against the IDF from Nasser, the last big medical complex they could use, when we know the abuse of Gaza hospitals for murderous purposes by terrorists is systematic? (I'm not accepting any numbers claimed by "Gaza's health officials," where no terrorists are mentioned at all, because that's Hamas speaking) Where do people think all those terrorists went to, those who did not surrender? Do people think this is Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and if you stake a villain through the heart, then their body just goes "poof" into thin air, and there's no need to bury it?
The second factor is that Israel did exhume corpses that had been previously buried on the Nasser hospital grounds, to test them for DNA, in case they were what was left of murdered Israeli hostages, still held captive.
Tumblr media
This has been done for a while, before this mass grave by the Nasser hospital started making the social media "headlines," so no one can claim this is an excuse made up now, because of this, and in fact, several bodies of Israeli hostages were returned to Israel thanks to the IDF's work, and the first one that comes to mind is that of 19 years old Noa Marziano, because her body was exhumed from the Shifa hospital grounds. She was held hostage in an apartment near the hospital, then moved into Shifa itself, and murdered in its basement. So yeah, guess where they buried her... Together with Noa, Yehudit Weiss' body was also recovered from the Shifa hospital grounds, and returned to her family in Israel.
Tumblr media
If people don't like that the Israeli army has had to check bodies buried on hospital grounds for DNA, and then re-bury them together in a mass grave in the same place, then they should take it up with Hamas for murdering people on hospital grounds and for holding corpses as hostages in the first place. We're all living in the twisted reality created by Hamas.
And you know how we can tell that this part, about the bodies being exhumed to check for DNA isn't made up? Because we have regular Palestinians themselves admitting the bodies they're currently looking for in the mass grave are of their loved ones who were already dead by the time Israel got there.
Tumblr media
Just to summarize this lunacy, we are being accused of massacring terrorists (who are legitimate targets, killing them was not a massacre, even if we were really successful at it) and already dead people. Make it make sense.
As for the added accusations that Israel skinned the Gazans and stole their organs... The anti-Israel crowd literally claims Israel stole organs in Haiti, when all we did was to send our military emergency medical staff to set up a field hospital there (to help the victims of the earthquake in 2010), and these lies are currently being repeated in print by The Palestine Telegraph (which is based in Gaza. You know, the place where nothing is published if it goes against Hamas interests). If that act of kindness and help could be turned into something sinister and monstrous just because the Jewish state was involved, it's almost a given the same would happen when Israel is at present dragged against its will into a defensive war. It's a recycling of the age old antisemitic blood libels, portraying the Jews as bloodthirsty and capable of any monstrosity. It's antisemitism, pure and simple. THAT is why the Jewish state has to be "comically evil in every way imaginable," like you said. Remember how for centuries in Europe, the 'bloodthirsty Jew' trope served to lie that we kill Christians to use their blood when baking our Passover matzahs? The following cartoon isn't from the Middle Ages, it's from 2018, and depicts Gazans, not European Christians (see the tire in one Palestinian man's hand? In Hamas-organized violent riots that aimed to breach Israel's border in 2018, as they succeeded in doing on Oct 7, many participants burned tires to create a screen of black smoke that would impair IDF soldiers' vision):
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the Islamist terrorist organization and Hamas' buddy, Hezbollah (which has been intentionally firing at civilian communities in northern Israel for months), has killed yet another Israeli civilian overnight, Sharif Suad, an Israeli Arab Muslim Bedouin. Watch the anti-Israel crowd ignore his murder, just like they erase all Israeli civilians victimized. Arab deaths don't count if they can't be used against the Jewish state.
Tumblr media
I hope this helped! Take care. xoxox

Warnings/notes: swear words, mentions of pregnancy, pregnancy, aegon being an ass, aemond being a sweet baby, daemon flipping his shit, protective momma rhaenyra, happy alicent, your rhaenyras daughter u can choose adopted or not, ooc daemon? Slight ooc aegon?
Taglist: @introverbatim, @neobanguniverse,
Part one.
Tumblr media
“We have some news.” Aemond grins, standing abruptyly silencing the chatter at the table.
All eyes direct towards him and you can see the confusion on your mother’s face, her eyes darting between the two of you. Never the less you accept his hand allowing him to pull you up next to him.
“We, well..” you pause looking at daemon how his eyes seem to stare into your soul. “We are engaged!” You cheer awkwardly.
You can see otto smiling with a nod, while alicent seems to be piecing everything together and u know she knows with the dart of her eyes towards your stomach. Helaena smiling softly at you seeming excited to have someone to talk to about married life.
On the otherside if the table you see your family, your mother gaping at you while your brothers hold blank faces and you can see the clenched jaw of daemon. Yet, the king seemed to be joyfull. “Wonderful news my dear! You have made me a very proud grandsire!” He chuckles.
Thats when shit breaks loose, aegon just had to speak up. He snickers rolling his eyes saying “Dear brother is such a pushover isn’t he mother?” You see her give him a look to shut up but as always he pays it no mind “I mean fucking the whore is one thing but to marry her once pregnant? God what kind of hold has she on you?”
You’re eyes water when all eyes turn to you, closing them and flinching into Aemond’s hold when Daemon stands. Slamming his hand on the table claiming you must have been forces that the greens were taking u hostage that it was all a plan.
It seems your mother had had enough of the dramatics, sending the children to bed including Helaena and Aegon. Before clearing the room of her husband and the hand stating this was a matter for her, Alicent, Viserys and the two of you to navigate.
“So.. you are to be married then?” Your mother asks tentatively causing you to bow your head in shame.
“I planned to explain to you.. But we didnt know how to tell everyone and-“
“Its okay sweet child,” the queen hums grabbing your face and kissing your head. You can’t help relax in her hold, “I can’t say i am upset to be made a grandmother again!” She grins.
“And i a proud grandsire of another fine knight or beautiful princess” the king adds, looking at your mother as if to ask for her opinion. It’s only then that you realise shes crying, the sight making you well up to.
“My baby is all grown up” she chokes out wrapping you in her arms and leaving several firm kisses to your head. Her hand unconsciously rubbing your stomach.
“Your… not mad?” You ask cautiously and she chuckles and says “how, my sweetone, could i be mad at you for falling for a mischievous second son thats also your uncle” and you cant help chuckle at the similarity between you.
“I cant! I can’t! FUCK! OW! Make it stop-“ you screamed squeezing your mothers hand tight as the maesters told you to push again. Your body felt like it was on fire. But your mother and Alicents soothing words lessoned your fear, slightly. You had been in labour for almost the full day and the babe seemed to refuse to be born and despite your please they seemed reluctant to let Aemond in.
Well, your mother was. You knew why deep down she was afraid that if the choice was given he would sacrifice you to save the baby. You however, knew that he would not. The thought would never cross his mind. So you begged and plead once more for him stating you would not give girl until he was with you. A task they knew you very well might do so they sent for him and the second he held your hand kissing your head and telling you he was there, was the most safe and relaxed you had felt all day.
Your son came quickly after that, a heavy and healthy baby your mother had remarked kissing your head and leaving with Alicent after she muttered her own praises of her newest grandson.
“We should call him Aemond.” Your husband grinned, causing you to slap his shoulder.
“No, I’m not calling him after you.” You groaned.
“And why not!?” He huffs clearly disappointed and you give him a look, “do you want me to be moaning our son’s name while we fuck?”
He shudders audibly gagging at the thought. “Perhaps not.” He sighs.
The two of you had been arguing over a name for hours, your son sound asleep in his arms as he gently rocked him.
“We could call him after someone else though”
You muse, the thought making him look up at you quizzically. “Who?”
“I was thinking Laenor…” you whispered afraid he may reject the idea but he hums nodding in approval. “A fine name from a honourable namesake, a fitting name for our little knight.”
You smile up at him, thanking the gods you got such a loving gentle husband.
“Should I let the maesters know then?” He asks, setting Laenor in your arms gently. “Yes, and could you send my mother in on your way? Id like to tell her first.”
“LAENOR GET BACK HERE!” You hear from your place by your husband, both of your turning to see the young prince holding what seemed to be a dragon egg while your Aegon chased after him.
The sight making you laugh, especially when Aegon reaches for the egg only for your son to dodge and throw the egg at his father. Aemond catching it with ease.
“Bested by a 3 year old, brother?” He taunts him, Aegon rolling his eyes in response snatching the egg back and placing it into the pot of hot coals by your bed side.
“Well excuse me for picking an egg out for my future nephew!” He defends, rolling his eyes when Aemond corrects him saying that he is to have a girl this time. The notion making you smile, hes always wanted a daughter to spoil.
Your silence is broken when your son pulls Aegons pants down running off in a bout of laughter.
“OI YOU LITTLE-“
“She’s beautiful” your mother coos, her finger moving to softly stroke the babes cheek. “That she is” Alicent joins placing a kiss to your head as she congratulates you.
“Have you thought of a name?” She quizzes looking at her son and then you.
You smile, telling them that their was really only one name that came to mind when you found out you had a daughter. You smile at your mother as you say it, “Visenya.”
She lets out a soft gasp, leaning over to kiss your cheek her heart touched that you would name your daughter that. You embrace her softly before placing the babe into her arms letting her and Alicent fawn over her as you lean back into your husbands arms.
“She’s Perfect” he whispers kissing you sofly. “Plus… Aegon’s gonna be pissed” he chuckles.

Hello hello do you have any thoughts of writing the reader in the king!ghost au getting kidnapped? Maybe graves or shepherd (if he's in the au) or just some random made up character was doing some operations with Simon and they decided to ditch Kastron, and abducted the reader to send her off to Simon's enemy? I think the reader could manage to run away by herself, or it is Simon who rescues her but she got some good intel while being held as a hostage.
Also, what do you think about the reader getting poisoned? I think the scenario could be like: there is a noble who wanted his daughter to be married to Simon, but Simon chose the reader instead, saying that brings more benefit to Kastron, and the noble is like okay so we get rid of her and then I can be the king's father in law🤔. So he bribed some of the maids in the kitchen+the queen's direct maids, and the reader ends up getting poisoned but didn't die due to the fast treatment of the royal doctor.
Or for a bit of more angst, the poisson was originally targeting Simon, but there had been some mistakes in the middle and it ended up in the reader's teacup.
I'm sorry if these aren't your preferences! Love your writings and your creativeness💕
alright, this work is about the second prompt in this ask!
(extras)
king!ghost x reader -- poison
warnings: attempted assassination, descriptions of physical reactions to being poisoned
You wake up each morning alongside Simon, surrounded by the tasks and responsibilities that comes with your status as the queen of Kastron— no easy job. As the rays of the sun filter through your ornate curtains, you find yourself reminiscing on your marriage with Simon.
Despite the trials that had marked the early days of your union, you and Simon had grown closer, forging a partnership and marriage that withstood your past qualms with each other. Now, you couldn't help but marvel at your blossoming love.
Your marriage was not without its challenges, particularly from a cunning nobleman, Lord Andrew, who had sought to secure his daughter's place as the queen of Kastron. He had tried diligently to get Simon to propose his daughter, forcing her to attend every event that would have the King present. However, when Simon had returned to Kastron with a bride in tow, choosing you over his daughter, the nobleman was furious.
Unbeknownst to you, the disgruntled nobleman had a sinister plan. He had envisioned a future where he would be the king's father-in-law, and to achieve this, he plotted to eliminate you from the equation. Lord Andrew was blinded by jealousy, greed, and the need for power.
His conniving plans led him to far, dark corners of the castle, where he bribed the maids in the kitchen to taint today's afternoon tea with poison. Lord Andrew's bribery extended to even your most trust attendants, who were lured in by the promises of money, power, and protection. So, that afternoon, one of the maids poured the vile of deadly poison into your teacup.
Little did the maids know that you would be having tea with Simon today.
You settle into your plush chair, sighing in relief as you lean back into the cushions. A few moments pass by and you're met with Simon entering the tea room.
"Afternoon, love," he greets, walking over and pressing a kiss to your cheek before sitting down in his own chair.
"Hey, Si! I'm glad you could make it so last minute," you respond, a genuine smile playing on your lips as you meet his warm gaze. The sunlight dances on the delicate porcelain of the tea set before you, casting a serene glow over the room.
"Wouldn't have missed it," he responds gruffly, a small smile quirking on the corner of his lips.
Suddenly, the doors to the tea room fly open, and you sigh contentedly when you see the maid carrying a tray with you and Simon's teacups.
"Ah, perfect timing," Simon remarks, his eyes brightening as the maid sets the tray down. "Could you make a second cup, please?"
You miss the way the maid's face pales when she sees Simon sitting across from you, swallowing thickly.
"Yes, of course, right away!" she squeaks.
You watch as she pours Simon the normal tea, her hands a little bit shaky. She sets one teacup in front of him, and the poisoned one in front of you. The aroma of freshly brewed tea fills the room, masking the poison hidden within the delicate porcelain.
The maid, knowing of the sinister plot she carries out, offers a polite yet patronizing curtsy. "Good afternoon, your majesties. Tea is served."
"Thank you," you acknowledge with a gracious smile, exchanging a brief glance with Simon. As the maid departs, you turn your attention back to Simon, making quiet conversation with him, letting your tea cool down.
Simon picks up his teacup, preferring his tea to be scalding when he drinks. He takes a few sips, savoring the taste on his tongue.
Your conversation flows freely, talking of what you both have planned for the rest of the day, from recent council meetings to other more trivial matters. The atmosphere is light and airy, seemingly untainted by the poison that threatens to slip between your lips any moment now.
"Y'know, love," Simon begins, swirling his tea absentmindedly, "I was thinkin' we maybe take a trip somewhere?"
You smile, the idea of a getaway appealing. "A trip sounds wonderful, Si. Any particular place in mind?"
After deeming your tea was cool enough for you to drink, you bring it up to your lips and take a sip.
He leans back in chair, a thoughtful expression on his face. "There's a coastal town called Alordia, have you ever heard of it?"
You swallow another sip, nodding. "Yes, I used to go there as a child! It's been a while since I've been to the sea."
"I was thinkin' the air might do us some good," Simon says thoughtfully.
As Simon continues to share his plans for the trip, you suddenly feel a subtle wave of discomfort washing over you. At first, you dismiss it as a one off sensation, perhaps just lingering stress from the day. However, as the conversation continues, you start to notice an unusual bitterness lingering on your tongue.
As the minutes pass by, you begin to feel a strange heaviness settling in your limbs. You glance at Simon, who is still animatedly describing Alordia. Meeting your eyes, Simon takes a good look at your face, concern flickering in his eyes as he notices your demeanor.
"Are you alright, dove?" he asks, his voice tinged with worry.
You muster a weak smile, swallowing thickly, attempting to push through the mounting weakness coursing through your veins.
"Mhm, just got a bit tired is all. Tea can make me sleepy sometimes."
Simon's brow furrows with concern as he continues to observe you closely, eyes flitting up and down your form. "You don't look well."
"I... I think I just need some air. Maybe a walk in the garden would do me good."
Simon, however, isn't convinced. He sets his teacup down, the worry deepening in his eyes. "No, something's not right."
"I think it's fine, really. I just need some fresh air," you say as you rise from your chair. Your heart is racing in your chest, and that unsettling weakness rushes to your legs. The moment you stand, you falter, catching yourself on the edge of the table.
Simon immediately stands, his chair scraping against the floor as he rushes to your side. "We're going to get the doctor," he says gruffly, wrapping an arm around your waist to steady you.
He knows you've been poisoned, but he doesn't tell you to prevent you from outright panicking. This happened once before, where you collapsed at the dinner table. Everyone had thought you been poisoned, but you were just sick with the flu. But now? You weren't sick at all, in fact, you looked bright and well-tempered when he walked in the tea room.
The room begins to blur, and you struggle to maintain consciousness as he starts to drag you out of the tea room.
Desperation fills your eyes as you reach out and grasp Simon's hand wrapped around your waist. "Wait, Si, I..." Your words falter as dizziness washes over you, making it harder to form coherent sentences. Your face feels heavy, each blink slower, each breath more shallow than the last.
"Just breathe," he tells you, trying to calm his own racing heart.
The moment he kicks down the tea room door, he's yelling at the guards to go tell the doctor that he's coming with you. Simon's free arm comes around the back of your legs, and he's lifting you off the ground in one motion. When he has you secure, he breaks off into a run. The world around you continues the blur, the sounds echoing painfully loud in your ears. You can feel the urgency in Simon's steps, a sick realization dawning upon you. Beads of sweat start to roll down your forehead, and everything feels too bright, too loud.
You don't fully register when the doors to the infirmary swing open, mind muddled from the effects of the poison. Simon bursts into the infirmary, calling for the doctor urgently.
"It's poison," Simon calls out, voice gruff and commanding.
Everything is muffled, barely registering his words, but the urgency in his voice cuts through the haze. The medical team springs into action as Simon places you gently on a bed. The room is a flurry of activity, and you catch glimpses of worried faces and the glint of medical instruments.
"Move!" the doctor calls out, carrying tray of vials.
Simon stands by, his eyes full of fear and determination. A nurse gently directs him to a corner of the room, where he can observe but not stand in the way. For once, he gives them space.
The frantic activity around you is a distant hum as consciousness slips away, leaving only fragmented images and sensations in the tips of your fingers.
In your haziness, you feel a cool sensation on your forehead as one nurse places a damp cloth over your heated skin.
Without hesitation, the doctor wrenches your mouth open, taking out the vials and pouring antidotes down your throat.
As the antidote slips down your throat and into your system, a shiver runs down your spine.
Simon watches every little movement, a hardened plea in his eyes for your recovery.
Time seems to stretch and fold upon itself. The medical team exchanges hurried whispers, their faces etched with both concern and concentration.
Simon remains rooted in his corner, his fingers nervously drumming against his thigh. The seconds tick by like an eternity. His gaze never wavers from you, holding his breath.
Finally, you start to cough, eyes fluttering as the blurriness of the room starts to fade.
A collective sigh of relief sweeps through the room. The antidote takes effect, and your vitals start to stabilize.
"Christ..." Simon mutters to himself, his shoulders sagging as the tension and adrenaline drains from his body. He strides over to your bedside, his eyes searching yours for signs of consciousness.
The doctor approaches Simon with a reassuring yet stressed smile. "She's going to be fine. We got to her just in time."
Your eyelids flutter, consciousness slowly returning to you. Simon takes your limp hand, his thumb gently stroking your knuckles. You blink a few times, the world gradually coming into focus. Simon's face swims into view, and you manage a weak smile.
"Hey there, dove. You alright?" he says, relief evident in his tone.
You nod lightly, your voice a mere whisper. "I think so."
The doctor turns to you, relief written on their face. "You gave us quite a scare, your majesty. You're responding well to the antidote. You'll need to rest for the next few days, and the effects of the poison won't fully subside for another 24 hours. No strenuous activities for the next week, at the very least."
Simon nods in understanding, his protective instincts kicking in.
You nod, still feeling the lingering effects of weakness. "Thank you... all of you."
Simon's grip on your hand tightens, eyes softening.
Once the doctor is finished with their debrief, the medical team withdraws, leaving you alone with Simon. He sits by your bedside, his gaze never leaving your face.
"I need to find out who did this," Simon says, his jaw set with determination.
"We will, together."
As the hours pass, Simon remains by your side, occasionally leaving only to return with a cup of water or a damp cloth. His concern is palpable, knee bouncing with anxiety and impatience.
. . .
It's been about a day since you've fallen victim to poison, now resting in your chambers. As you recover, Simon's protective presence becomes a constant.
Word of the attempted murder spreads throughout the kingdom, stirring anger and concern among the people.
As soon as investigation into the attempted poison went into motion, it was brought to a close. It was obvious enough to question the staff in the kitchen that day, and one loose lipped maid immediately broke down the minute she was brought into questioning, sobbing about how sorry she was, and how it was Lord Andrew who had put her up to it.
The news of Lord Andrew's involvement sends shockwaves through the kingdom. The castle buzzes with tension as the truth was unveiled, and the nobles whisper about the impending consequences.
Simon left no stone unturned, taking in nobles for questioning left and right, sparing no chance.
The once-respected Lord Andrew is now a pariah, and his name is synonymous with betrayal and greed. The court proceedings intensify, and the truth is laid bare for all to see.
During this time, you gradually regain your strength, but the trauma of the poisoning lingers. Simon is always hesitant to leave your side, but his need to seek justice intensified.
Simon much preferred to deal with Andrew himself, but he couldn't allow his personal feelings to cloud his pursuit of justice. Instead, he endures Kastron's legal system, relying on it to deal with Lord Andrew appropriately.
Simon, still fueled by anger and protectiveness, watches Lord Andrew with a steely gaze. As witnesses testify against Lord Andrew, the depth of his deceit is laid bare for all to witness. The kingdom demands justice.
The nobleman, now stripped of his titles and influence, stands in the court to answer for his transgression. The room falls silent as Simon addresses him, his voice strained with anger.
"Andrew, you attempted to poison my wife, the queen of Kastron. You sought to undermine the very foundation of this kingdom, to harm the person I hold most dear," Simon declares, his eyes ablaze. "Your greed and lust for power have cost you everything."
Andrew, standing before the court, attempts to justify his actions, desperation laced in his voice. He was on Simon's bad side, a place you could never find forgiveness. "Your majesty, I... I felt cornered, with no way to secure a future for my family. I just wanted to ensure my daughter's prosperity, her future."
Simon's gaze remains cold as ice, his anger tempered by a sense of duty. "Don't drag your family into the mess you made. Nothing excuses the treason you've committed. You put the entire kingdom at risk for your own personal gain. Attempting to murder the queen is an affront to Kastron herself."
The court watches in tense silence as Lord Andrew flounders, attempting to shift the blame, pleading for mercy.
Simon had his mind made up the second you started displaying symptoms.
He stands up from his seat, shoulders back and head held high as he addresses Lord Andrew with finality. "Andrew, for your betrayal and attempt to murder the queen, you are hereby stripped of your titles, lands, and any influence within Kastron. You are banished from the kingdom, and any attempt to return will be met with severe consequences. May this serve as a reminder that treachery against Kastron will not go unnoticed or unpunished."
The guards move forward to escort him away, and he glances back one last time at the court.
As the doors close behind Lord Andrew, the weight of the moment settles upon the room. The people of Kastron, witnessing the fall of a once-respected noble, murmur among themselves.
"A warning to you: let Andrew's fate be a lesson to those who let betrayal cross their minds. The consequences are severe."
. . .
In the aftermath, you and Simon spend days in your private chambers. He had also wasted no time replacing your staff, maids, and cooks in the kitchen he deemed unreliable. He went through each staff member that has ever come into direct contact with you, wasting no breath when it came to questioning their loyalty.
Simon, still seething with anger, finally allows himself a moment to relax, his facade softening as he returns to you in your chambers.
"You've held up well the past few days, darling," he says, his voice a soft murmur. "I hate that you had to go through that."
You offer him a tired but genuine smile. "We faced it together, Simon. And, he's gone now."
He nods, a profound gratitude in his eyes. "I couldn't bear the thought of losing you, especially like that. I love you, more than anything."
You reach out to gently touch his cheek. "Thank you for looking out for me. I love you."

I feel like you've done this before but can we get lazy human reader who is insanely powerful.
Reader is known to be napping even in the oddest places once she was found napping on too of Cerberus stomach while the hell hound napped away as well. She has a habit of pulling people who have a bed like vine into a hug and not letting go for ages.
Though she volunteer to fight much to bruhilda worry She grumbles as she walks into the arena saying she would rather be sleeping. The god that mocks her for her attitude is quickly slammed into the wall shocking everyone even odin by readers strength Reader just turns back to human entrance and coolly says " you gods havent been worth the energy to wake up for in years what made you think I would be bright eyed for cowards like you.
Reader is later revealed to be once a warrior for zeus that was highly skilled and respected even by the prideful god but reader has gone through many recantations so he was unable to recognize her.
-You gait was a little wobbly as you walked into the arena, as you had just woken up from your nap, third of the day and it was only noon.
-Many were confused as you walked to the middle of the arena where your opponent was waiting for you, you didn’t look like a warrior, not in the slightest.
-You covered your mouth as you yawned deeply as Heimdall announced the start of the match, stretching your other arm up, “I’m sleepy~”
-Cue a collective, arena wide face palm as everyone yelled at you that you had just woken up from a nap. You looked confused as Heimdall scolded you, “You were found sleeping on top of Cerberus- again, not ten minutes ago! How can you still be sleepy?!”
-You just shrugged as your opponent’s eyelids were twitching, “You brat! This tournament is for the fate of you damned humans- show us some respect or else-”
-You easily charged and swung out with a roundhouse kick, sending him flying back and into the arena wall, creating a crater before he fell to his knees then to his face, unconscious.
-Jaws dropped all around before eyes went to you as you flicked your hair back over your shoulder, “Why would I be bright eyed for you gods? You all haven’t been worthy my energy for years!”
-Eyes went wide before Zeus shouted down, “Y/N- your name is Y/N right?” you nodded, twirling a piece of your hair around your finger, “That’s me~~” his eyes went wide, “Holy- I didn’t even realize it was you!!”
-Everyone was quickly yelling out in shock as you were revealed to be the reincarnation of one of Zeus’ most powerful warriors, also named Y/N, who died years ago and was reincarnated multiple times over.
-There was nothing left of that powerful aura of the long forgotten god, as you were now a human, but your strength was proof that it was indeed you.
-You wandered backstage, so you could take a victory nap before your mid-afternoon nap, finding a large couch, one you could spread out comfortably on.
-(Love) came to find you, wanting to ask you questions about your power, only to find you already fast asleep. He couldn’t help but chuckle, coming closer and Brunnhilde, who was passing, “You don’t want to get to close to her while she’s sleeping.” He turned, confused by her words, “What? Why?”
-Your arms shot up like striking snakes, wrapping around his neck and you instantly pulled him on top of you before flipping the both of you over, so you were laying on top of him, hugging him close, still fast asleep.
-Brunnhilde sighed softly, “I tried to warn you- good luck~” He panicked, whispering after her, “Wait! Don’t leave me here!” you sighed softly, snuggling down into him and he paused before he went limp and quiet, not willing to disturb you.
-You were very warm and soothing, despite just sleeping, you felt relaxing, so he let himself relax, dozing off as he was being held hostage in something he would later dub your ‘nap attack’.

General notes:
This Valiant AU was meant to be a solarpunk superhero slice of life that slowly reveals a heavier plot, mostly focusing on character interactions and personal growth
White Hat Incorporated is a struggling, newbie business and clients are rare
The episodes can range from domestic shenanigans like fixing a leaking pipe or getting dinner, to running their business by defeating the villain of the week
The villains and heroes stay in their roles from canon. The only ones with major changes are our main 4 guys
All major information about White Hat would be discovered from the point of view of Lumencia and Zug as they realize that not only is PEACE corrupt, but that their boss is neither human nor demon nor alien
Now onto the characters themselves:
Dr. Zug Gleis
Like his name suggests, he likes trains. His train is also a drill that was an attempt to burrow out of government's arrest
Which he then modified into a laboratory, each train cart being a unique kind of laboratory for surveillance, medicine, etc. He sleeps very uncomfortably in cramped spaces and likes it that way
V.I.R.U.S is now a software he created and repurposed into his bratty computer assistant, now Cambot. She's also the one recording all their commercials and making his coffee. Basically Zug doesn't get along with ANY of his children
He doesn't like to leave his laboratories, so he set up a network of tunnels through White Hat's mansion that send and receive messages, inventions, food, etc. There's one little chute for these in most parts of the place
His arc was focusing on his inability to accept help from others because he sees any kind gesture as a possible way to control him. Even worse if the kind person genuinely means it, because he also sees accepting kindness as a handicap, a debt
His villainy was an easy way to make money and show the world his capability without any assistance from any hero or villain organization
Really, he just wants to be able to do whatever he wants, but his need to be the best or else he's the worst is tiring for him. Anger issues don't help
This stemmed from a past of constantly being bullied and compared to his brother, Goldheart
After dropping out of hero college, Zug became his own supervillain's known as The Mad Condoctor, whose theme was, you guessed it, trains. He stole trains, modified scrap metal, targeted stations and trade centers, held hostages, prepared puzzles for heroes to solve, etc
The Mad Condoctor was notorious for being uncooperative and a backstabber. He operated at night and was an expert in secret missions, spyware and tech-based combat and the likes
By the first season finale he would have genuinely cared for his coworkers but still didn't value his own life, so he let himself be taken in by PEACE. The crew have to go retrieve their idiot and many things about White Hat Incorporated are revealed to the public after they clash with their local PEACE headquarters
He finds authority annoying and hates seeing people kiss up. Mostly shameless in his actions and doesn't much care for other people's opinions. Can be honest to the point of hurting
So he is a terrible liar. It's like he's allergic to it or something. Prefers to lie by omission
Will only call White Hat 'sir' and 'jefecito' sarcastically or to get a point across. Unfortunately hopelessly devoted to him at the end of the series whoops
Lumencia
A superwoman with horse-like powers that decided to choose unicorns as her motif because that's way cooler. She has kicks and punches that convert her diet into energy, which is great because she loves eating
Changed it up so that Lumencia is the resident prankster and WH tells puns, not the other way around
She has a room with a slanted ceiling which she can climb out the window of to lie and chill on the roof. She's also converted that space, where flat roof meets slanted roof, into an outdoor cinema/gym, decorated with christmas lights. The mansion is a three-way clash of decorative styles from afar
She doesn't have a license to be a hero, but she helps out wherever she can anyway, stopping purse snatchers and helping lost children find their parents and such
In fact, she is actually one of the most beloved people in the little town they live near, with many residents familiar with her buffoonery but affirming her as a reliable source of help
She's also relatively well-known online, as she posts videos of her playing the guitar and well-intentioned but nonsensical 'Lumencia Tips', filled with terrible puns and comic-like ballpoint pen doodles
Her arc would have focused on letting herself acknowledge her strengths that aren't related to fighting
Shes very buddy-buddy with petty criminals and shop owners alike, able to strike up a conversation and make pals no matter who they are. Once she deems you chill, you can chill, yknow? This isn't on purpose.
Even though she has gross taste in food and is messier than Zug, her handwriting is very pretty and neat. She also is very good at graffiti and sticks to an aesthetic, with glitter and y2k stickers and denim-clad wizards on skateboards, all the works
She has a very straightforward view on heroics and is not big on plans, preferring to punch her way out of situations or annoy her enemies to tears. In fact, her main goal is to become an official part of one of the many PEACE-brand hero leagues.
There's other hero corporations too but PEACE is the number one in America
So one day she just showed up on White Hat's doorstep and never left because it would 'look good on her resume'.
Previously, she bounced from place to place, relying on connections and the occasional tip from her halfway-illegal heroism efforts to get by. She also doesn't remember where her powers are from, only that her parents worked at PEACE and where killed by 'villains' when she was a little girl
Her favourite place is the funfair because that's the last nice memory she had
By season two she would have started another arc where she learns that she was an experiment and her parents were killed by their own higher ups in PEACE to silence them, and she has to come to terms with why she even wants to be a hero as well as stand her ground when her optimism is challenged.
Lumencia's music is like whatever Equestria Girls and Electric Mayhem have going on. I think the genre is power pop? Either way it sounds like those elaborate 80s radical van murals look
Is an effortless liar in the sense that she says the most batshit things with utmost confidence and treats consequences like an afterthought.
Only calls White Hat 'White Hat' and not 'boss' when she feels the situation calls for it. Also unfortunately hopelessly devoted to him by the end of the series
624
An extra set of hands that cleans the place and helps out with their little business. Does not like being interuppted when listening to music
Goes from 'fucking hate these guys' to 'they give me food therefore they are mine' in the span of the entire series
Quite lazy, plays the winning side. Which is usually the heroes here
Dunno if I'd call his arc an arc. All I know is there's an episode where his spoilt teenager-ismd hits their peak and Zug and Lumencia have to reach an understanding with him by respecting his boundaries and helping him feel secure
And after that episode, 624 stopped being a total catalyst for disaster plotwise
White Hat
He is one of the comic reliefs and manages White Hat Incorporated, often making really stupid decisions because profit is not on his mind
The final voice I settled on for him was fucking Australian Markiplier
His "growth" would be the characters and readers seeing him to actually be a caring, experienced-in-heroics-but-not-business individual who gives really sound advice and becomes a source of comfort for his close friends
But is still a MEGA-PRICK. Every time he gets beat up it's for a valid reason
In canon, villainy triumphs because Black Hat is there. In the Valiant AU, the story is in the heroes' favour because White Hat is in his place.
I wanted him to be (mostly) opposite to Black Hat in many ways! BH's office is huge, minimalistic, corporate and cold, while WH's office is small, maximalistic, filled with sentimental items and like a warm cabin.
BH basks in hellfire and while WH does use fire, he prefers the ocean. BH enjoys golf, WH enjoys dancing. BH takes himself seriously, WH very much doesn't. BH detests everything, WH has an appreciation for everything. And etc...
They're still horrible creepy eldritch monstrosities, the fish theme for WH is just because he likes ocean shit and fish are scary
BH has made himself known globally and universally, he has statues and monuments and paintings
WH has nothing; White Hat is five years old. This is his first time being White Hat
But he's been around since the beginning of time, taking many forms and names, learning the wonders of the universe and giving all of his time to help however he could
He believed this to be natural, he's the one of a kind who doesn't need rest or food. He can't die or get really hurt, and would later learn he couldn't bear to love either
Some of the things he was included many plants and animals before the humans, then farmers and warriors, witches and politicians, an entertainer vigilante, a writer, a parent, a fur-clad warrior in the snow, guiding forces of nature, and a female pirate.
I wanted him to cycle through the entire alignment chart in terms of morality as he exhausted everything he could do to make a difference
After World War 2 on earth, his psyche gave out and he collapsed into a long, long nap; a shadow pooling in a lake, his favourite
Finally woke up and decided to take his own form not based on any species or star or tree, chose his own outfit and everything
And made his debut as White Hat, forged documents to start a small business for heroes support
He doesn't have an arc, but if he did, he would be in the midst of learning to let himself get attached again and be properly selfish. Maybe identity issues.
But he doesn't have an arc
And so really only serves to help out Zug and Lumencia. He's comfortable with no one knowing these things about him ever, because what would they even do if they did?
Wouldn't change anything, they wouldn't understand the full scope even, so he's at peace with himself right now, grateful that he's alive for once
He uses manipulation to direct conversations away from himself and get people to spill their feelings, or burrow into their trauma without using magic
if he wants he can let loose to trigger some kind of indescribable primal instinct within a person, that cripples them with terror and despair and love for the sublime face of something divine, bigger than the observable universe. He doesn't like doing this.
He's a fan of ice and shadow manipulation, he thinks the colours go well with his coat
Most animals hate him and he cries about it
He also cries when he tries to download an app on a laptop
He is a competent medical doctor, babysitter, and waiter. In fact, he seems to have infinite patience and calm when he isn't whining over dessert like a toddler
The human skeleton hanging in his office is real
Hopelessly attached to Lumencia, Zug and 624 by the end of the series but they don't need to know that
This AU will forever make me warm and fuzzy inside I love them so much, I had so many locations planned, started Pinterest boards and shit
Instead I think I'll take some of these things and apply them to my OCs instead! HUGE thanks to everyone who enjoyed this version of this AU while it lasted! Maybe it'll come back one day, maybe not. Likely not

You couldn’t help but feel giddy. More then once your hand would raise to the newly formed braid in your hair. It rested beside your left temple and you could still feel the warmth of Kili’s fingers where he had braided it not even a few hours ago. It felt strange to have a new braid, but one you were more then proud to wear. The bead and braid both signified your status with the Royal Family. But more then that. It told the world that you and Kili belonged to one another.
Placing the last of the packs onto the cart, you gave a small nod to the driver who stirred the ponies into motion and began carting the now loaded goods back to Erebor. You had been traveling with the tradesmen to exchange goods with a nearby village. Your ailing father had not been able to make the trip, and being his only child, the duty had fallen on your head. Two members of the Royal Family, namely Thorin and Kili had decided to accompany the party in hopes of forming some alliance with the village Master.
It had been the night before that Kili had requested your presence. You had been confused at his strange behavior. Normally, Kili would be full of words and he never had a problem to articulate them. That night though, he had been stumbling over his words and when he had finally caught on to your confusion, he had simply held the bead out to you.
To say you were shocked would be an understatement.
It was true your feelings for the young prince were rather strong and deep, but you had never imagined that his ran just as deep as yours. Tears had filled your eyes, but you had blinked them away before reaching up to pull down the hood of your cloak. Kili had stepped closer, his fingers reaching out to take a section of your hair which he then began to braid. The two of you were silent as he expertly attached the bead with his family crest at the end of the now finished braid. The silence made the moment all the more intimate.
As soon as it was done, you gave him no warning before you had jumped into his arms had embraced him tightly. The small clearing now rang with joyous laughter as he spun you around, before setting you down and sealing the moment with a kiss.
You were so lost in reliving the memory of last night that you did not notice the strange dwarf approaching you from behind. Not until it was too late.
Fleeing was not an option, as several dwarfs began to attack the ones she had come with. You could only struggle helplessly as you and several other dwarfs were thrown in the back of a cart and the thieves made quick work of escaping, taking whatever loot they had gathered, and whoever they had captured.
Including you.
                                              -------------------------
It had all happened rather quickly.
The dwarfs had taken several hostages, including you, but it had taken next to no time for the soldiers of Erebor to be dispatched to rescue everyone. However, the few hours you were held hostage was enough for a few things to transpire.
One of the kidnappers was tormenting an old dwarf, kicking him around to make him walk faster. Not being able to sit quietly, you had snapped at the abuser, prompting him to turn his attention to you. He had told you to shut up, before turning back to his previous task. You had picked up a rock and thrown it at his head, the small projectile meeting its mark.
Only once his attention turned to you, did you realize that perhaps you shouldn’t have done that. He marched over to you, before yanking you away from the group of kidnapped dwarfs huddled together for safety. You had kicked and screamed the entire time, yet your cries fell on deaf ears. Multiple kicks were aimed at your torso and face, yet they did not hurt as much as when the dwarf yanked at your hair.
Once his greedy eyes landed on the bead Kili had gifted you, his lips pulled into a menacing smile. Pulling out a wicked looking dagger, the dwarf carelessly chopped off the braid Kili had so lovingly braided. You barely noticed as the steel of the blade cut across your forehead, you cried in despair as the braid with the bead was thrown in a nearby fire where it smoldered to nothing.
It was only seconds later that the warriors sent to rescue you fell upon the enemy emitting blood curdling war cries. Yet you barely noticed as you continued to stare into the depths of the small fire, tears filling your eyes, as you mourned the loss of something so small, yet so significant.
Feeling a warm hand being placed on your shoulder, you glanced up to see Dwalin looking down at you with a kind and gentle expression. Slowly, you allowed him to guide you to where his pony stood waiting. He helped you onto the animal, before getting behind you. You barely noticed anything and anyone around you as the triumphant rescue party began to trek back to Erebor with the kidnappers in tow.
                                             -------------------------
To say Kili was beside himself with worry would be an understatement. The moment he had realized what had happened, and that you had been one of the dwarfs kidnapped, he had wanted to take the first pony and run after you. His uncle, however, had other ideas. Fear of this being a plot to draw the royals of Erebor out in the open, Thorin had decided to send his best warriors, led by Dwalin, to retrieve you and the other dwarfs. Still it did not stop Kili from screaming at his Uncle to let him go, neither did it stop him from telling Fili off for siding with Thorin.
His heart felt as if it would beat right out of his chest. His mind raced with thoughts of you. Every single moment you had both shared, before being replaced by the sight of you broken and hurt lying somewhere out in the open. For hours he paced the ramparts of the mountain, looking over at the horizon, to try and catch a glimpse of the returning warriors.
It was a few hours later that he heard the distant call of a horn. All over the mountain horns began to blow, signalling the return of the rescue party. Kili was the first one at the gates, straining to catch a glimpse of you as the small band of dwarfs approached. Dwalin rode at the very front and reached first. He was quick to dismount, before moving to help lift your trembling body from the back of the pony and set you on the ground.
A wave of dizziness overcame you, as you swayed on your feet, yet the feeling of two familiar arms wrapping around you and supporting your body, was able to give you a little strength. You raised your wide eyes to look at Kili’s face. The sight of him, looking so worried and relieved, broke whatever shred of control you had as you collapsed against him and began to sob over your loss.
“I’m sorry, Kili. I am so sorry. I-I lost the bead you gave me. T-th-they cut my braid and I tried to save the bead but they threw it in the fire. I-I c-couln’t-” Here your strength seemed to fail you as your knees collapsed underneath you. Luckily, Kili was there to catch you. Wrapping his arms more firmly around your frame, he pulled you close. Briefly the world around the two of you disappeared as he comforted you.
His face was buried in your hair as he whispered sweet nothings and reassurances in your ear. Tears streamed down your cheeks and onto his clothes as the trauma finally registered in your mind. So far you had been focused on protecting and helping the other captives. But now? With Kili’s arms around you, you simply could not hold yourself together. Your body shook with each sob as Kili pressed a kiss to the top of your head.
The Dwarf Clan that had decided to attack the citizens of Erebor were more then a little nervous now. They had no idea who you were. No idea that you were the betrothed of a Prince of Erebor. Each dwarf shuffled nervously as Kili finally raised his head to look at each of the dwarfs in turn.
His eyes held a rage that made his hands tremble as his gaze swept over the villains. They would pay. Every single one of them would be held accountable for the horror they had inflicted upon his beloved.
“My son?”
His attention was briefly diverted by the presence of his mother. Behind her stood his Uncle and brother, alongside many other dwarfs who were greeting their own loved ones that had been kidnapped. When they had arrived, Kili had no idea. Dis reached out to gently extract you from his embrace. Kili moved to protest but a look from his mother had him stay silent. “I shall take care of Y/N. See her injuries are not severe.” Her eyes flitted to the captured dwarfs. Kili could see fury in his mother’s eyes as well, mirroring his own. But he knew Y/N needed to be taken away. He had no desire for you to see what he was about to do the captured dwarfs.
Nodding, Kili reached out to press a kiss to your forehead. “I will see you soon, my heart.” He whispered to you in Khuzdul. You raised your tear-stained cheeks to meet his gaze as Dis gently pulled you away. You followed the motherly dwarf after a parting look to your betrothed.
Once you had safely entered the mountain, Kili turned his attention back to the Dwarf Clan that had dared take you from him. He glanced at his brother and Uncle. The former’s anger was equal to his own, since he considered you family and hated to see you hurt and in despair. His Uncle simply raised his hand and spoke. “They will be punished however you see fit, sister-son.”
The dark look that crossed over Kili’s features had the Dwarf Clan regretting what they had done, and praying he would show some leniency.
                                             -------------------------
As soon as you had returned to your chambers, Dis had shooed your handmaidens so that they may prepare a warm bath. The older female dwarf had held you close to her side as the handmaidens prepared the bath for you. Though as soon as everything had been laid out and she was in the large tub, you spoke.
"If you don't mind, Mother, I want to be alone."
You didn't want be in anyone's presence at the moment, wanting to grieve the small yet significant loss on your own. Dis seemed to understand the reasoning behind your words and gave a small nod. Once the handmaidens had departed, Dis leaned down to press a motherly kiss to your brow.
"If you need to speak to anyone my dear, let me know." With a parting smile she left.
You had no idea how long you sat in the tub for. Her hand hung around you, unbound and free, floating in the warm water. Taking a small breath, you submerged completely in the water, closing your eyes as you allowed the warmth of the water to envelope your tired aching body. You could've stayed down in the cocoon of safety forever, but you needed to breath.
Emerging from the depths, you took a deep breath.
You didn't know for how long you sat in the water, feeling utterly numb and refusing to let yourself acknowledge what had happened. Perhaps it would be wise to simply move forward from the event.
Pretend it hadn't even happened.
It wasn't until you started to shiver from the now cold water that you stepped out of the bath, and wrapped a warm thick robe around your body. Water trickled from your hair, leaving a small puddle as you walked towards the vanity. Your fingers brushed against the handle of your comb when your gaze shifted to look in the mirror. The sight of your empty eyes, and the lack of the braid Kili had so lovingly put in your hair was the breaking point.
A whimper echoed in your chambers, followed by the sound of sobbing as you let loose the pain and horror. It finally sank in just how frightened you had been. Terrified. And amidst what had happened, you had lost something so so so precious.
The thought only made you sob all the more harder.
You didn't hear the door to your room opening, didn't catch sight of the pained look that overtook Kili's features as he ran to gather you in his arms.
"What is it my heart? What hurts?" He asked, checking you over to make sure there was no serious injury. You shook your head, just clutching to him. It took a little while before your sobs subsided and you calmed down enough to take a deep breath and speak.
"I'm sorry." The word hadn't even left your mouth before Kili cut you off. "You need not be sorry for anything my love. Nothing is your fault." His hand gently caressed the small area near your forehead where your braid had hung just this morning. You averted your gaze, shame coloring your cheeks, but he grasped your chin, and gently turned your head to look at him.
"I ran into Mother on my way hear. And she gave me something." So saying, he reached into a pocket and pulled out a small bead. It was beautifully crafted, and she could see the skill behind it despite the tears still welling in her eyes.
"My father gave this to my mother, when they were betrothed. And now she wants you to wear it." Your eyes widened and you shook your head. "Kili, I couldn't this is your father's gift to your mother." You said, leaning away from him slightly.
He smiled. "She considers you a daughter Y/N, she offered this to you. But should you feel strongly about it you can wear this for a few days while I create another betrothal bead for you." He said, his fingers already grasping a new section of your hair. You were silent as he began to braid your hair anew. With each lock of hair intersecting, you could feel your soul being pieced together once more.
Finally, Kili clicked the bead into place, and smiled at you. "Just as beautiful as ever." He said, his eyes meeting yours.
An involuntary giggle fell from your lips at his shameless flirting. One of the many traits that had won you over. "Thank you Kili." You closed whatever space was left between the two of you and pressed your lips to his.
His fingers buried in the hair at the back of your head as he returned the embrace. It was sweet, slow and seemed to sooth whatever leftovers the both of your had. And as he held you, you couldn't help but feel safe and loved.
"I love you, Kili." You breathed against his lips. You could feel him smile gently in response before he whispered back his response.
"And I you, Y/N."

That's My Girl | Part 1
Tumblr media
Summary: A mission goes horribly horribly wrong, and Y/n knows it's her fault. Captain Rogers wants to be there for her, but she won't allow him to. But the team believes that there's more to this than simple hostage casualties. What is Hydra hiding?
Warnings: Angst, death, grief, and a wee bit of fluff stuck in there somewhere.
Word count: 3,527
(Only proofread once, so apologies for any mistakes)
Part 2
Y/n sat, face in her hands, leaning against her door.
It was all her fault.
They died because of her.
She had blood on her hands.
Try as she might to send her thoughts elsewhere, they still roamed back to what had happened the night before.
The street lights went out in an electrical burst, one by one.
Y/n looked around anxiously. The house had gone dark too. "we didn't have Intel on charge weapons." She barked over the comms. "Dang Hydra cockroaches!" Tony yelled. "They're trying to block our locators. I have a feeling that these are part of what the Shield x Hydra agents stole from headquarters." He finished. They could feel him pacing and moving his arms about wildly, as he always did.
"Well, let's recalculate. Charges or no, the doctor and his family still need our help." Natasha interjected.
They had come here after getting Intel on the kidnapping of a Doctor Cedric Bon. He had been a leader in black market plastic surgeries. Only his work had little to do with face lifts and tummy tucks, and so much more to do with attempts to actually turn the clock back on a person's age. Before, he had only managed to turn out some really messed up and damaged people, who could never undo what had been done to them. But a lot of chatter recently indicated that he had finally managed something akin to Steve's serum. But for youth instead of strength.
Right after that, he and his wife vanished. One of Natasha's sources told them that Hydra had gotten them. They could only imagine what they wanted them for.
"OK. So, not being able to tell where everyone is presents a problem." Sam said worriedly. Now they'd be going in blind. They were going to relay on some of Stark's technology to help them locate where they were being held and go from there.
"It's a problem, but we'll find a solution. Sam you keep cover from the skies. Tony, you're in charge of entry points and keeping anyone else from coming in.  Buck, Nat, and I will handle whoever is waiting for us on the inside. Y/n, you gotta get'em out of there, ok?" Steve said, taking on the tone of voice he always had when he was in what they called Cap mood.
Y/n knew why he had asked her to handle that aspect. Her ability was mental and emotional manipulation. She could make someone believe a lie, calm down, get angry, or think whatever she wanted them to think. Not huge things, but simple things like "I should trust her" or "I should give her this key card." These thoughts and feelings never lasted and were always followed by a headache that resembled a hangover.
Even tho she could fight, frightfully skilled in martial arts, Steve must have figured her skill would be useful in helping the hostages relax as she moved them out of there. How wrong he was. . .
But martial arts also came in handy if one wanted to move about unseen, which y/n did.
It didn't take her as long as she thought it would to find them. They didn't have them in a cell, basement, or anything like that. They were locked in a bedroom on the second floor. It had two twin beds and a bathroom. For a hostage situation, this was pretty comfortable. Y/n put this off to the fact that Hydra thought they lulled them into a false sense of security so the doctor would do what they wanted.
That was her first mistake.
"I found them," She tried to say over the comms, but all she got was static. Only then did it occur to that she hadn't heard anyone say anything since they entered the house. They were probably jamming the comms.
She felt for her backup earpiece for such situations. It wasn't there. Why wasn't it there? *because you forgot to replace it after you last used it. the one time you hadn't used your checklist as you suited up. Steve would surely give you an earful. This was why that man loved checklists.*
She decides to press on anyway
Second mistake.
"Who are you?" The Doctor asked, his accent thick. "Just think of me as your rescue, Doctor Bon, Mrs Bon. I'm y/n, I'm a member of the Avengers and I need you to come with me. Now."
"Those men told us that they were part of shield reborn." Mrs Bon said doubtfully. "Shield reborn? There's no such thing."Well, then if you say we can't trust them, how do we know we can trust you?" Mrs Bon asked doubtfully.
Y/n turned and looked at her, her eyes changing from her usual green to a bright violet and then back again. Mrs Bon blinked a few times and then said, "we should trust her." "What did you do?" Doctor demanded. "Later, Doctor. She'll be fine, tho. You'll all be fine if you follow me." She said firmly.
She had stupidly been confident that she could do it all without any backup or any knowledge of what was happening down below.
"Do you know of a back way out?" She asked. "Um. Yes. They took me on a tour just today." The Doctor said nervously. "Why? Actually, no time. Just tell me where to go, but I lead." She said, exiting the room.
The Doctor told her how to find the servants' stairs, which were hidden behind a rather large painting.
She tried her comms again but nothing.
The stairs seemed to curve on forever until they opened up to a large kitchen. It was empty aside from men laying about with knives sticking out of their chests.
Upon a quick scan of the room, y/n was sure it was safe for them to go.
After a quick dash to the backdoor, she pulled it open, stepping out into the night with them following close behind her. The yard was empty, dark, and soundless. It was now or never.
"Time to go!" She ordered, yanking them along with her as best she could. They would make it. They could duck into the woods. The others would clean up and find them later.
Mission accomplished.
Third and final mistake.
They were nearly there, just about to cross from the manicured lawn into the unkempt woods. But the moment the Bons attempted to cross, they jolted uncontrollably, and then they fell down, dead. . .
Y/n's eyes widened, dropping down, she frantically tried to give them cpr. First one and then the other. Tears stinging her eyes. "Come on!" She screamed. Hands trembling, she felt their necks. They were gone.
Hydra had implanted them so that if they tried to escape, they'd die. But why?
She just besides them until the others found them.
Nobody said anything on the ride home.
5 am.
The moment the jet landed, y/n jumped up, running out before anyone could stop her.
She went to her room slamming and locking the door behind her. Sliding down against it, she gave into the sobs.
Present moment.
Y/n had been sitting in the place since the night before. She didn't care that her legs had long since fallen asleep, that her back ached, her head pounded from crying. A heavy and sour feeling had settled in the pit of her stomach.
"Miss y/n," FRIDAY said, "Go away."Mr Stark says that there is to be a team meeting in five minutes."
She would be sick.
She knew she had no choice but to go to the meeting. It was mandatory for the official mission file before they filled out their own paperwork. It was a manner of protection for themselves as well as a record.
But that also meant that she'd have to go out there and explain to everyone just how she had failed, how she got them killed.
It was all her fault. All her bloody stupid fault.
"Miss y/n," FRIDAY said as a means to hurry her along.
"Fine." Y/n spat, pushing herself off the floor.
Get it over with.
The walk to the meeting room never felt so long as it had just now. Seeing everyone there, waiting for her to join them, made her blood run cold.
But, she was a part of this team. She had to be held accountable just like they did.
Steve was standing at the head of the table. Scrolling through a tablet that was projected onto the larger screen behind him. He glanced at her when she sat down, a mix of emotion on his face.
"OK. Well, you all know the drill by now. We need everyone's account of what happened last night." He said, sounding almost regretful that he had to ask.
One by one, they went around the table, each describing their movement in the mission. "I stayed on guard duty. No one came in or went out until y/n came out with the hostages. Then I flew to help, when I heard screaming and found that they were, in fact, deceased -" Tony said in a monotone voice. "I stayed on yours and Becky's six. We took out about 80-90 guards and agents before we made it outside and found out what had happened to the Bons." Nat said, choosing not to use the word decased, dead, or anything else remotely related to it. She was friends with y/n she knew how something like this would be to eat you alive from the inside out.
Then, the room grew quiet. Y/n knew it was her turn. They were nice enough not to all stare at her expectantly, but she still felt them pressuring her to tell them what went wrong, what she had done wrong.
She'd probably be put on leave for her stupid recklessness.
Her mouth was dry, heart pounding, and she finally looked up. Eyes meeting Steve's. He, unlike the rest, had been staring. His brows now knit together like they always were when he was thinking. She braced her hands on the table and slowly pulled herself up.
"Last night I was reckless. I forgot my other comm, so when they jammed, I couldn't get in contact with anyone. I didn't pay attention to any of the signs that told me it was too easy. I led them outside, and then they died right in front of me because I didn't even think to check for a chip!" She said, her voice increasing as she went along. "It was all my bloody fault. You can put that in the report, and I'll fill out my paperwork later." She spat and then stormed out of the room.
"Oh, she's not in a good place." Sam commented, sounding concerned. "She can't blame herself for the psychopathic nature of monsters," Bucky said, sighing. "There's no way she would have known about those chips. None of us would." He continued.
"What I want to know is why they were willing to kill them. Those chips have a kill switch. Somebody pressed a button to do it. Why didn't they want them alive?" Stark questioned. "There's something that's more important to keep hidden than having them alive." Steve commented almost absently, his thoughts distracted by something or someone rather. "They took them for a purpose, so they must already have all the schematics on the serum he created." Natasha added.
"He was a fast talker to give them everything in 24 hours. This isn't something you find in a textbook, " Bruce said.
"I want more information on where they were holding them and the agents we found there. Nat, can you head that up?" Steve asked before excusing himself without waiting for her reply.
"FRIDAY, Y/n's whereabouts?" He said once he got in the elevator. "In the kitchen, sir."
Y/n was pouring herself into a cup of coffee. She didn't drink alcohol because well she couldn't. Something about alcohol potentially making your heart stop makes one think twice about it.  So she would overload herself with caffeine instead.
She had just picked it up, allowing the mug to warm her hands. Suddenly getting the feeling that she wasn't alone in the room.  The last thing she needed was a speech about how it wasn't her fault and that the team was behind her all the way. Because she knew at least the first part of that was a big fat lie.
Finally, the person standing behind her cleared their throat. Steve. Of course. It had to be him.
Slowly, she made herself turn around, but she wouldn't look at him.
"What do you want?" She asked, forcing her voice into a monotone, hoping that he would get the hint and leave her be.
She knew what he wanted. He wanted to comfort her. He wanted to reassure her that this didn't change anything.
He stared at her a moment before answering, "y/n, would you look at me, please?" He asked, his voice gentil, nothing at all like his Captain America voice.
She just shook her head, eyes locked on her coffee.
He took a few steps towards her.
"Y/n . . . I know you think that -" "That what? That this all my fault? Check. That you're all disappointed in me? Check. That I'm the reason that the mission failed and two people are died? Check and check. We've established how I feel now." She snapped angrily.
Steve's expression shifted from one of pure concern to slight hurt. Not that she could see that, still refusing to meet his gaze. But he wouldn't allow himself to get offended. He did know how this felt and knew that she didn't mean it.
Carefully, he took a few steps forward and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. Feeling her instantly tense up. "You can yell, cry, get angry. . . Just don't go inward on me." She said nothing, biting her lower lip, looking away, determined to push away what he was offering now. He sighed, not out of frustration with her but worry, "Shortcake, please say something." Shortcake, the nickname he had given her after they first met at that WW2 convention.
"Steve. Just stop being a hero for one second and leave me alone!" She yelled, slamming her coffee down on the counter, making it spill, and storming from the room. "Y/n!" He called.. He wanted to go after her but he respected her wishes and left her alone.
Once she had made it back to the safety of her own room, y/n collapsed on her bed, allowing herself to break down again.
Why had she done that? She knew that he genuinely just wanted to comfort her. But what did she do? Screamed in his face. Right.
She didn't move a muscle and eventually slipped off to sleep. A sleep that made her relieve the day the man she had just yelled at became a part of her life.
It was a cool day in May, y/n was walking around the WW2 convention. Her grandfather, grandmother, great uncles, and great aunts had all served. She grew up on the old stories, the old records, the old newspaper clippings, and books. Her parents had brought her to this convention every year since she could walk, and now that they were gone, she came alone. This time period was a part of who she was. So dressed in period appropriate dress reminiscent of Andrew Sisters' famous uniform, she took in all the sights.
Finally, stopping by a tent set up to be an old fashioned drugstore, complete with ice cream, sodas, lemonade, and sandwiches.
"I'll take a lemonade," She said with a smile. Noticing the man leaning against the other end of the counter.  She knew who he was, of course she did, just as she was very aware of who he worked for. Technically she was a colleague of sorts.
He quickly noticed her staring. But instead of looking bothered, he smiled. Slowly, he inched his way closer until he was standing next to her. "Which Andrew sister, are you?" He asked with a grin, making y/n blush. "Well. . Not technically supposed to be any of them. I just like the style. It has a bit more class than modern-day dress blues." "You served?" "Airforce. That is until..."Shield picked you up?" "How did you know?" "I might or might not have seen your file." "Sneaky." "I like to think I'm observant." y/n couldn't help but smile. They weren't lying when they said Steve Roger's was quite the charmer. Finishing off her lemonade, y/n turned to pay for it only for Steve to hold out a five dollar bill to the shop owner. "I - why did you do that?" She asked, baffled. "Because I'm a boy from Brooklyn in the 40s, and we don't let ladies pay for themselves." "Oh. I see." Steve couldn't help it. He was very intrigued and spoke before he could talk himself out of it. "Are you going to the show later?" He asked, referring to the bands and performers who would be performing 40s music that evening.
"I was planning on it." "Uh," He cleared his throat. "Would you like to watch it together." "Mr Roger's are you trying to ask me out?" He nodded, "Yes. Yes, I am." his cheeks tinged with pink. "Well, in that case, yes." He looked at his watch, "We still have about an hour before it starts..." "That we do. . ." She said, almost having pity on the poor man. Here he was, Captain America, and he was actually nervous. "Would you like to walk around with me?" She asked, deciding to make things easier for him. "Sure." He said, stuffing his hands into the pockets of his leather jacket. They walked around the field, sharing stories and just getting to know each other. The more they talked, the more Roger's lossened up. The hour flew by before they knew it, so they made their way over to the field. Most of the chairs were already taken by the early birds, so they stood further back. Y/n being only 5 feet tall, struggled to see over the crowd that had also found their way back there. Steve tapped her on the shoulder, "May I?" He asked, gesturing to a stand behind them. She nodded, and he gently picked her up and placed up on it, pulling himself up next to her. They could easily view the show from here. "Thank you for that," she said with a smile. "No problem. You can't help being a shortcake." He grinned. And the nickname just stuck from that point on.
Just a mere three weeks after that, y/n was asked to join the Avengers.
Y/n shot up in bed, room dark, glancing at the clock beside her bed. 3 am. Her heart was pounding, eyes puffy from crying. Her room felt suffocating and oppressive now. "I can't be here." She whispered aloud to herself.  Quickly changing her clothes, she made a beeline for the gym, determined to clear her head.
Steve, whose room was on the same floor, heard a door opening and shutting and then the ding of the elevator.
Sitting up, he rubbed the sleep from his eyes. He had a feeling as to who might be up and about at this late hour. There were only four of them on this floor and none of them were nightowls. So he knew exactly who it was.
Down in the gym, y/n was in the midst of the wing chun arena. Dodging, then getting in a few hits before leaping to avoid being struck in the legs. Steve walked in and just stood there for a moment, watching her. She was ripping them apart. Tho Steve was sure Stark wouldn't hold it against her.
With a scream, she kicked another apart and kept going. Steve was beginning to worry she'd soon take herself apart too. So, with another sign, he walked towards the arena. Leaping over the wall, making his way around the carnage toward the center where she was, just three more dummies to go.
Stopping just behind her, he said
"Y/n... that's enough. " She ignored him and kicked the top off of the dummies. "Y/n." He said a tad firmer, only to be ignored again.
He cared about her too much to allow her to completely self-destruct in front of him. So he grabbed her by the shoulders and forced her to turn around. Hands still on her shoulders, he looked down at her, hoping that she could see just how worried he was about her. How much he cared for her.
"That's enough." He tucked hair behind her ear.
"Do you hear me? None of this was your fault. I promise you that we will figure out who did this. We'll find out why. But Shortcake, it's not on you." He said hurriedly, his voice cracking as he pulled her into a crushing hug.

Pairing - Ethan Hunt x daughter!reader
Word count - 5,553
Warnings - violence, near death experiences, gun violence, blood, injuries, possible swearing
Summary - when attempting to stop Walker and Lane, you're taken hostage and your dad fights to save you
A/N - hey y'all I'm finally back with a new part of Lil' Hunt (cheering anyone?) sorry it's taken me so long to upload a new fic I've been grappling with motivation for a while. for a bit of context, for the Lil' Hunt universe, Julia and Ethan were a couple but never married. Luther was convinced Ethan would marry her and leave the IMF but because of the dangers of Ethan's job and his dedication to the IMF they split up (so kinda similar to the movie but no marriage). anyways I'll stop rambling, as per y'all please send in requests, feedback and enjoy!!!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
The Syndicate was back. This time they had claimed the name ‘The Apostles’ although there was absolutely nothing holy about them or their mission. Your dad and his team had attempted to get the three plutonium cores the Apostles were after but after they had taken Luther hostage and put his life on the line, the cores were lost because your dad wasn’t willing to gamble with Luther’s life. You respected your dad so much for protecting Luther above everything. His team had always been his family and he wasn’t going to put a mission above Luther’s life. The IMF had been beyond mad at your dad for losing the plutonium and so the CIA had sent August Walker with your dad to attempt to retrieve the cores.
Since then, you had found yourself travelling from Paris to London where your dad was instructed to bring Solomon Lane after your dad had worked with a broker named Alanna Mitsopolis in Paris who, under the assumption that Ethan was a killer named John Lark, had him take part in an attempt to get Solomon Lane in exchange for the plutonium with one being given as a down-payment upfront. Your dad of course, did not want to get involved with such a crime but kept his cover as Lark and had Benji and Luther ready to extract Lane so he didn’t end up in the hands of Alanna and her brother Zola.
Having to see Solomon Lane again after everything he had put you and those you cared about through was awful. You hated hearing his taunts as your dad and the others tried to grill him for information. Ilsa had taken to keeping you away from Lane, making sure he couldn’t target any taunts your way and to try and keep your mind off the whole thing. You were so grateful for Ilsa doing that because it really helped you distract yourself from the terrorist who was being held captive and it was nice to see Ilsa again after she went her own way after crashing at your safe house for a few days.
However, despite things looking like they could, for once, go smoothly. It turned out that after trying to accuse your dad of actually being John Lark, it had been Walker the whole time and after an intense gunfight between Walker and the Apostles and your dad and his team, Director Hunley was killed in the skirmish and both Lane and Walker had gotten away in the chaos. Your dad had attempted to chase Walker down while you, Benji, Luther, and Ilsa had moved to a new safe location, but he was unsuccessful in his efforts. In the new safe location in London, you sat with Luther and Ilsa while your dad was with Benji in another part of the building discussing their next move.
“Luther, do you think you guys will actually be able to stop them?” You ask quietly as Ilsa and Luther exchange a soft look with each other. They knew your words weren’t coming from doubt of your dad and the team’s abilities, they were more than likely coming from a place of fear.
“We won’t stop until we have all three cores and Walker and Lane are gone.” Luther assures you softly, his gentle voice bringing some semblance of comfort to you but both Ilsa and Luther could tell you weren’t fully convinced by his words. After all, it was nuclear weaponry that was in play. In the blink of an eye thousands, or even millions of people could be killed if Walker and Lane were not stopped.
“We’re going to stop them y/n/n.” Ilsa then says, wrapping a gentle arm around your shoulders and tugging you into a side hug as you lean comfortably against her side, fighting back the ever threatening tears. You didn’t know why you were getting like this; you’d lived through a bunch of missions and your dad, and his team had never let you down so far.
“y/n, can you come here for a moment sweetheart?” You heard your dad’s voice come from across the room, making you pull away from Ilsa slightly, nodding silently and getting up from your chair and crossing to your dad.
“You know, in all the years I’ve known Ethan I’ve learnt he cares for everyone. But his daughter will always be his top priority.” Luther muses softly, watching you cross to Ethan before glancing at Ilsa whose attention had fallen to him.
“I expect as much, she means a lot to him.” Ilsa says, her gaze drifting back over to you and Ethan, watching how Ethan tugged you into a gentle hug and pressed a soft kiss to the top of your head. It was obvious to anyone that Ethan cared about you a lot.
“She means the world to him. But I also know that Ethan cares a lot about you as well.” Luther then says, also watching your interaction with Ethan and he could tell that the hug alone had helped bring yours and Ethan’s moods up a little. Upon realising what Luther had said, Ilsa directed her attention back to him, curious to know more.
As Ilsa and Luther continued to talk, you had moved to join Ethan at the window, watching the people of London hurry down the streets like their lives depended on it.
“Are you ever jealous of people like that? Not having to worry about saving the world more times than anyone can count?” You ask quietly, glancing at your dad as his gaze remains fixed on the world outside. You knew he had a normal life before the IMF, but he never spoke about it. Not to you at least.
“Very rarely.” Is the most you get from your father in response to your question and you don’t dare to push any further.
“When we find out where Walker and Lane are heading, we’re going to head out as soon as possible.” Ethan then says, glancing briefly over at you as you nod lightly, inhaling sharply to try and subdue your nerves.
“Okay.” You mumble, not once objecting when Ethan gently reaches out for you, wrapping an arm around your shoulders and bringing you into his side like Ilsa had done moments before.
“Hey guys not to disturb you or anything but I’ve got a location.” Benji then says, rushing through the room with his laptop perched precariously on his hand as he rushes to the table Luther and Ilsa were sat at with your dad following behind quickly, leaving you stood by the window. You knew you should probably join the team so you could at the very least be aware of where you were going and what the plan was, but you couldn’t bring yourself to move, your eyes drifting to the bustling people below and muttering quietly to yourself.
“Sometimes I’m jealous of them.”
When you eventually joined the group, you found out that you were heading to a medical camp near the Siachen Glacier. As you make the journey to the location, Ilsa soon figures out that Walker and Lane are planning on setting off the nuclear bombs so that the water supply of India, Pakistan, and China would be contaminated which could lead to a huge loss of life. As the car you were all in approaches the medical camp, you started to feel tense and nervous again. You felt like something was going to go wrong, especially with Walker and Lane potentially at the camp. As the car pulled to a stop, you all took a moment to put a comm in before climbing out of the vehicle.
“Let’s split up, I’ll check this tent while you guys’ fan out and let everyone know if you find anything. y/n, stay in someone’s sight at all times.” Ethan says, glancing at everyone in turn before focusing on you as you nod, all too used to that phrase by now.
“Got it.” You say as the rest of the team nods in agreement, and you all begin to take off, scanners in hand ready to search for the bombs before you heard something that stopped you all in your tracks.
“Ethan?”
“Julia?” All of you stopped in your tracks upon hearing your dad speak, and you turned around to see him and a woman face to face. You didn’t recognise the woman at all, and therefore had no idea how she knew your dad. You turned to look at Benji and Luther to see if they recognised her and to your shock you saw them exchanging a knowing yet concerned look with each other. Tearing your gaze from the two, you looked back at your dad.
Ethan was shocked at seeing Julia again. It had been years since he last saw her. He had to split up with her for her own protection and now she was in danger because of him again. Before Ethan could say anything, he heard a male voice calling out to Julia and Ethan looked over in the direction of the voice and saw a man approaching with a smile before he looked back at Julia.
“Does he know?” Ethan asks quickly, formulating a lie in his head when Julia shakes her head no. The man reaches Julia, standing alongside her as she wrapped an arm around him.
“This is my husband, Eric.” Julia introduces the man to Ethan as both men smiled, reaching out to shake hands.
“Rob Thorne. Doctor Rob Thorne.” Ethan’s faux name leaves his mouth easily, no hesitation as he shakes hands with Eric.
As Ethan and Eric converse, Julia finds her eyes wandering, catching a glimpse of four people watching the three talk and her smile soon shifts when she recognises Benji and Luther. She didn’t recognise the woman at all, and she couldn’t stop the raised eyebrow that occurred when she caught sight of a young girl among the ranks. She glanced back over at Ethan, catching the tail end of Eric talking about their guardian angel who helped out with them being here in the first place and she didn’t miss how Ethan’s expression faltered and she knew that him being here, along with the presence of Benji and Luther, that there was danger.
Just after Eric dismissed himself from the conversation, disappearing into the medical tent just behind Ethan, he turned to Julia who glanced back in the direction of you and the rest of the team before looking back at Ethan.
“I didn’t know the IMF was hiring kids now.” Julia says, no malice in her tone but clear worry and protectiveness over you despite not knowing you.
“No, y/n’s not IMF. She’s my daughter.” Ethan says, briefly glancing your way and seeing you and the others still watching the interaction.
“You have a daughter?” Julia asks, puzzled and not at all anticipating that answer from Ethan.
“It’s a long story, Julia. I am so sorry.” Ethan mutters as he pulls Julia into a hug before taking off with his team leaving Julia alone to worry about what dangers could await her.
After your dad left the conversation with Julia you could tell there was an added tension in the air. You had no idea who Julia was, but you could tell she was someone your dad cared about deeply which only added fuel to his fire. The five of you, using your scanners, search the camp for the bombs and eventually stumble across one and when you see Luther open it, the situation becomes ten times more real for you and you inhale shakily, eyes fixed on the nuclear weapon in front of you. You’re vaguely aware of the team talking about their next move but none of it was really processing in your head at all. The only thing that shook you out of your thoughts and focused your attention was your dad gently taking you by the shoulders and ducking down so he was in your line of sight.
“y/n, listen to me carefully. I need you to find Julia and tell her and her husband to start getting people out of here in case things go wrong. And then you’re going to ask her to take you with her.” Ethan instructs, watching you carefully as your eyebrows furrow and you shake your head.
“Dad no I’m not leaving you.” You insist, not wanting to leave him.
“It’s safer this way, trust me. We don’t have time to argue about this, you need to go. If we stop Walker, I’ll find you, I promise.” Your dad says hurriedly, briefly glancing behind you to look at Luther who was glancing between the bomb and Ethan. Without responding to your dad’s words, you hugged him tight before turning around and running back the way you had come from in the first place in search of Julia.
Searching a whole medical camp for Julia turned out to be a mammoth task. You’d only seen her from a distance, so you were desperately trying to remember some of her features, so you’d recognise her when you saw her.
After searching the first tent that your dad had been stood outside when he saw Julia and getting no results, even after asking around, you went to head back outside and as you rushed around, eyes surveying the people walking around, you ran straight into someone’s chest, nearly sending you stumbling back to the floor had the person’s hands not shot out to steady you.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t mean-” You start to say, a thank you readying itself on your tongue, but your words faltered when you looked up and realised who it was you bumped into just as their grip on your shoulders tightened.
“Hello junior.” Walker said, an evil grin covering his face as your expression shifts to one of fear as you attempt to pull away, every attempt futile as Walker holds on to you with a grip so tight, you’re sure not even the strongest person in the world could get out of it if they tried. Knowing you stood no chance of getting free from Walker’s iron grip, the next plan in your head was to just scream bloody murder and hope your dad heard you somehow. However, Walker seemed to know your next move before you even made it and wound one hand around you after pulling your comm out while the other clasped across your mouth, muffling any screams that left your mouth as he pulled you towards one of two helicopters and harshly shoved you on one while yelling at the pilot to take off, quickly restraining you to the seat as the helicopter begins to take off. You had no idea why Walker was taking you or where, but you did know that you were scared. You had no clue if your dad even knew you were gone and that thought scared you more than anything else.
“You know, you’d be a good addition to my group. With Ethan out of the way and a bit of training, you’ll make a fine addition to our ranks.” Walker says, leaning towards your ear, his voice making an uncomfortable shiver run down your spine as you lean away, glaring at him.
“I’d never work for you.” You spit venomously, willing your glare not to falter when Walker just chuckles menacingly in response.
“Oh, we have ways to break you down.” Walker says, his threatening words hanging in the air as your strong façade begins to crumble and true terror began to cling at you. You had only seen a small bit of Walker’s violent tendencies. You knew he had been the one to kill Hunley, but you could tell that if he really wanted something, he’d stop at nothing until he got it. The further the helicopter travelled from the medical camp the more worried you got. You just wanted your dad.
It appeared that someone watching over you felt particularly generous because you could’ve sworn you could have cried when you caught a glimpse of the other helicopter being piloted by your dad. Walker was looking the opposite way to you so thankfully your dad was able to move out of his view before he turned around. You had no idea what your dad’s plan was, but you knew he at the very least had the foundation of a plan even if it wasn’t a fully fleshed out one.
When you felt the helicopter shake, you began to figure out what your dad’s plan was. He was trying to disable the helicopter as best he can without causing it to crash horrifically so he wouldn’t hurt you. You weren’t one hundred percent sure about how your dad was going to achieve it, but you trusted him. Walker of course caught on to what your dad was attempting to do and leant behind him, grabbing a large gun and positioning it ready to fire at your dad but before he did anything he turned to face you, jaw clenched and a mix of anger and madness in his eyes.
“You try anything, and your ass is out of this helicopter.” He hisses lowly, his words enough to strike fear into you so you don’t try to stop him. All you could do was watch helplessly as Walker attempted to shoot your dad down. You longed to do something, anything to stop him but you knew he’d follow through on his threat. Thankfully, being in a moving helicopter meant Walker’s aim was not as accurate as he’d like it to be. However, he managed to get a few lucky hits on the helicopter rotors which caused terror to leap into your stomach as you watch the helicopter rotors set on fire. You wished you could help your dad somehow, but you were completely powerless to help, if you tried anything, Walker would be quicker and would have no qualms about throwing you out of the helicopter without so much as a second thought. Knowing your dad was going to move on to a potential plan b, you mentally prepped yourself for whatever it was that he came up with.
It turned out your dad’s master plan was to crash his helicopter into Walker’s. Thankfully, you had your seatbelt on and so when the now destroyed vehicle had stopped rolling down the mountain, you hadn’t sustained any serious injuries. Your ribs were aching, and you could taste blood on your lip, but you figured that was the worst of it. Thinking it was safe to attempt an escape when part of the helicopter broke and burning oil started to pour on Walker’s face, you unbuckled your seatbelt and went to move but it was quickly obvious to you that the helicopter hadn’t stopped somewhere safe for you to get out and soon the helicopters were both plummeting again and this time you flew out of the damaged helicopter and landed quite painfully on your side, aggravating the pain that was already settled in your side. Sitting up, you blinked rapidly to clear the blurriness from your eyes from where you had more than likely hit your head against the floor. Noticing your dad begin to get to his feet you scramble to stand up, instantly making your way over to him.
“y/n, are you okay? Are you hurt?” Ethan asks instantly, noticing your bloody lip and surveying you for any further injuries.
“I’ll live.” Is all you say in response as Ethan glances over your shoulder, noticing Walker getting to his feet and without hesitation pushing you behind him.
“Stay behind me.” Ethan says protectively, positioning himself in front of you so you were fully blocked from Walker’s view. You were frozen in place watching the two men fight and grapple for the detonator. You knew you could try and get the detonator, maybe you’d be able to figure out how to deactivate it, but you knew if you got it, you’d quickly become a target to Walker and given his sheer size and stature, you stood no chance.
When your dad and Walker were hovering dangerously close to the edge of the cliff, you darted towards the two men. Whether you were aiming to grab the detonator or attempt to haul your dad away from the edge you hadn’t decided but the moment you got there, Walker was beginning to topple over the edge and his hands instinctively reach out to grab anything to keep him steady, unfortunately that happened to be you and your dad. The three of you fell over the cliffside and thankfully you and your dad were able to grab onto the cord of the hook from one of the helicopters that was hanging suspended on the cliffside. Unfortunately, Walker had also managed to grab onto the cord as well and all three of you began to attempt to climb up the cord, hoping the hook wouldn’t slip. As you climbed up the cord, you felt something grab your foot and you looked down to see Walker clinging to your foot, getting a full view of his burnt face and evil grin as you attempted to wiggle your foot free, head swimming with nothing but panic. You looked up at your dad who had noticed you weren’t right behind him and saw the look of pure terror in your eyes as Walker clung to you gleefully. Without saying a word Ethan was able to communicate with you, his eyes told you everything you needed to know. All you had to do was relax and remember what you had been taught. With newfound determination, you looked back down at Walker, using your free foot to kick him in the face. It took three blows to the head to finally loosen his grip and cause him to slip further down the cord, giving you and your dad time to climb.
“y/n when you get up move away from the edge and don’t try anything. Okay?” Ethan says as he temporarily stops climbing, moving around the cord so you could climb past him.
“What?” You question, stopping in your climbing efforts but Ethan encourages you to keep going, watching as you near the top.
“Just move away from the edge and the cord. Trust me.” Ethan says up to you, watching as you reach the top, looking down and nodding at his words before hauling yourself back onto the top of the cliff. You force yourself to your feet, wincing at the hot pain that flares up in your foot but carry out your dad’s wishes, limping away from the edge and the cord and anxiously awaiting what was going to happen.
All of a sudden, the hook came flying loose from the rock it had latched onto, sending it flying over the edge and you hear the sound of the helicopter plummeting to the ground.
“Dad!” You cry out, limping hurriedly back over to the edge but stopping yourself to save yourself from looking over the edge and seeing your dad missing. As your eyes flick down to the detonator, you realise you need to figure out how to deactivate the bombs and just as you go to move closer to the item, a hand reaches up and grabs the detonator and then soon you see your dad’s head pop up over the edge, making your eyes immediately well up with relieved tears.
“Dad, you’re okay!” You breathe out, limping over to him and helping him back up onto the cliff, noticing his injuries and watching him worriedly as he doesn’t have any energy to sit up at all.
“Is the detonator…?”
“Done. It’s done.” Ethan manages to say, his voice weak as he lies on his back, barely able to keep his eyes open as you ease yourself down to be kneeling next to him.
“Hey, you gotta keep your eyes open, dad. Someone will find us, but you have to stay awake. That’s what you always say, right? Always keep them conscious. That applies to you as well dad. Come on. Please?” You begin pleading when you notice your dad’s eyes slip shut. When your words and gentle nudges do nothing to bring him back to consciousness you swore you could feel bile rising in your throat at the thought of your dad dying in front of you. You frantically try to remember everything you’d been taught by your dad and his team and immediately pulled your coat off, lying it over your dad to keep him warm as you fight back a shiver as the cold mountain air immediately hits your skin. You had no idea if help was coming nor if they’d be able to find you up on this mountain, but you did know that you had to keep your dad alive no matter what.
As you checked your dad’s pulse and fight back a frown at his light breaths, you hear helicopter rotors and perk up, hoping and praying it’s someone who’s come to save you. A helicopter soon hovers in your line of sight and as it eases itself down to land on the cliff, you’re relieved to see people you remember seeing around the medical camp instead of people who worked for Walker.
“Take him first.” You insist, forcing yourself to your feet as the medics ease your dad onto a stretcher and ease him onto the helicopter as you limp along behind them, climbing in with the help of another medic who helps ease you down onto a seat. As the medics begin their treatment on your dad, one of them removes your coat and hands it to you.
“No, my dad needs it.” You say, moving to push the coat back to the medic before the man sat next to you takes the coat and turning to you.
“He’ll be okay now. Giving him the coat definitely helped while he was exposed to the elements, but he’ll be okay from now on.” The man says softly, holding your coat out for you to take which you do so gently, draping the coat over your lap.
“Your dad will be just fine, we’ll do our best for him and once we’ve landed my wife will check you over, it looked like you were limping. Am I right?” The man then says, glancing over at you while you nod hesitantly.
“I’ll only let someone check my ankle if my dad is checked first.” You say firmly, locking eyes with the man as he nods.
“Well my wife knows your dad so I think it would be best for her to check your ankle while we work on your dad, so she doesn’t stress herself out worrying.” He says, a gentle smile gracing his face as he watches you nod again, this time with less hesitation.
“I’m Eric, by the way. Sometimes knowing someone’s name can help you feel a bit more comfortable.” Eric introduces himself to you, his smile never fading as you shyly give him your own name.
Eric kept you company and kept your mind off your dad for the helicopter journey, the moment the helicopter made contact with the ground the medics working on your dad were instantly easing the stretcher out and rushing to the nearest medical tent as you watched on.
“Come on, kid. We’ll find Julia and she can check you over.” Eric says, helping you limp your way over to the medical tent and quickly locating his wife, calling her over and pulling her gaze away from Ethan.
“Eric, what’s happened?” Julia asks worriedly, crossing to her husband and gently grabbing his arms, looking back at Ethan before looking at you.
“I don’t know what’s happened fully, but I need you to check y/n over. She’s been limping and I don’t know if she’s sustained any other injuries.” Eric says quickly, his focus not leaving Julia as he calms her down. Once Julia has calmed down, Eric helps you sit down in the tent before dismissing himself to check on your dad. As Julia crouches down, easing your trouser leg up and helping you ease your shoe off you hear the worried voices of the team and your head shoots up, locking eyes with them the moment they all enter the tent.
“y/n, oh my god you’re alive.” Benji says first, rushing over to you and embracing you without a second thought, making you wince at the ferocity as your ribs scream in pain.
“Benji, my ribs.” Is all you need to say and Benji immediately let’s go, apologising profusely.
“I’m so glad you’re okay.” Ilsa crosses to you next, gently taking your hand and squeezing it softly as you look up at her.
“Please go and check on dad. You guys should be with him.” You say and Benji and Ilsa both nod, going off in search of your dad while Luther grabs a chair and eases himself down next to Julia.
“Luther, you should go and check on dad too.” You say, wincing as Julia applies a bit of pressure to the tender part of your ankle.
“I’m staying here Lil’ Hunt.” Luther says as he shakes his head, refusing to move.
“Lil’ Hunt? Is that his nickname for you or did your dad start that one?” Julia asks, glancing up at you as she grabs the bandage to wrap around your ankle.
“That was all Luther. He’s been calling me that ever since I could remember.” You say with a small smile, the fondness of the nickname never lost on you.
“So Luther’s been in your life a while then?” Julia muses as she busies herself with binding your ankle.
“Benji too. Ever since I was born.” You say with a nod as Julia looks up at you after completing what she was doing before looking over her shoulder at Luther.
“You poor girl. Putting up with those three must be tough.” Julia says, a small breathy laugh escaping your lips as Luther rolls his eyes.
“It’s not too bad, if you don’t count all the missions.” You shrug, not wanting to insult your family too much.
“Well… I’m glad you’re happy with them. You seem like a good kid. Ethan’s done a good job with you.” Julia says as you slide your shoe back on, wincing at your rib pain once more before you straighten up. You didn’t know your dad’s history with Julia, but you could tell that they had been close at one point. Maybe you’d get answers another day but for now, just meeting Julia was enough.
“Let me check your ribs because I heard you mention them earlier and you’ve been wincing a lot when you’ve moved around.” Julia then says, tending to your ribs and concluding you most likely had one or two that were broken and warned you to take it easy for the next few days to ensure they healed properly. As Julia finished up her examination after cleaning the cut on your lip, Benji comes rushing in to inform you that Ethan was waking up and all three of you were quickly on your feet and Luther was helping you limp over to where your dad had been taken to and when you got there, Julia had joined Eric in checking Ethan over and making sure he was okay while you and the team stood to the side. After Eric and Julia had finished talking to Ethan, Ilsa took their place, and you watched their interactions with a soft smile. You knew your dad truly cared for Ilsa and you could tell she cared for him too, you just hoped something would become of it so your dad could be happy.
“y/n, come here.” You’re snapped out of your thoughts by your dad’s soft voice and look over at him to see him watching you with a small smile, lightly gesturing for you to join him which you do so without hesitation.
“I’m so sorry, I should’ve been more careful. I-”
“Sweetheart, stop apologising. You didn’t do anything wrong.” Ethan says softly, reaching up and cupping your cheek to get you to focus on him and stop talking.
“But… Walker got me and then you almost died.” You say, tears springing to your eyes as you think of how close you had gotten to losing your dad.
“Walker getting you wasn’t your fault. You couldn’t have known he was there. And I’m okay. We both are. I promise.” Ethan promises, his soft smile never leaving his face as you sniffle and nod, trusting your dad’s words.
“We’re okay.” You echo as Ethan removes his hand from your cheek and you glance back at the team, all of them wearing similar soft smiles.
You were all okay. Walker was dead and Lane was recaptured. The mission had been another success.
You wished luck to whoever your family went up against for their next mission because you knew your family would win against all odds. Whoever tried to end the world or cause a war wouldn’t know what hit them and your dad and his team would come out on top like they always did. Any enemies stood no chance and you hoped they knew it.

Carpe Diem
Summary: Hondo Ohnaka plays matchmaker for his favourite Jedi, much to Obi-Wan's dismay.
Relationship: Obi-Wan x Reader (fem, no use of Y/N)
Notes: this story is more about Hondo being the bane of Obi-Wan's life than it is about the relationship, it's been sat in my drafts for a year so I gave it a swift ending.
Tumblr media
Carpe Diem
'Kenobi, why the long face?' Hondo threw himself down beside a disgruntled Obi-Wan, who was nursing a drink in his left hand as he slumped over the table.
'Because it's been two rotations since I heard from the council and I think another night spent here is going to be the death of me.'
'You wound me, Master Jedi. What is there not to like about crash landing on Hondo's turf?' He grinned, throwing an arm around Obi-Wan, who merely grimaced. He didn't hate Hondo, per se. He just found him... exhausting.
'Perhaps the fact that last time I had a prolonged stay here, I was being held hostage by you. Pardon me if I don't trust your sudden sense of hospitality.'
'Bah! Do not cling to the past, Kenobi. I would never sell you out.' Obi-Wan gave him a pointed look. 'What? It would not be profitable to bring the Separatists here. The Republic, on the other hand, will pay handsomely for your stay.'
'Mm, quite.' Too tired to argue, Obi-Wan returned to sulking into his drink. He had been sure to pour his own drinks whilst in Hondo and his pirates' company; especially after last time.
'Jedi... so boring.' Hondo flapped his arms in his usual theatrical manner as he went off to bother somebody else. A long sigh left Obi-Wan's lips as he drained the contents of his glass. Maker, he must have looked so miserable. The council had assured him that a pickup was imminent, but the nature of war meant that plans were always subject to delays. He knew they were coming for him, he just didn't know when. Not to mention that he wasn't sure how much more of Hondo's babbling he could take. But, he knew he had to remain calm. The Council would be sending someone to collect him and, provided he remained unharmed, Hondo would likely receive his credits as compensation. It was just his luck that he would crash on Florrum. All these pirates did was drink, thieve, drink some more, and create more noise than Obi-Wan had ever thought possible. He had barely slept a wink for the past few nights. If the noise wasn't bad enough, Hondo's "guest quarters," as he had called them, were just a repurposed cell. Obi-Wan had decided that he would never complain about the hard beds aboard Jedi cruisers again.
After too long spent wallowing in his self-pity, he decided to retire for the night and meditate in the privacy of his "guest quarters." What caught his attention before he could leave the room was a voice he didn't recognise, one that stood out from the crowd. Whoever this was, they were yelling at one of Hondo's men in a Coruscanti accent similar to his own.
'Be a thieving pirate all you like, but do not test me. Give me my credits, or you won't make it to the end of that drink.' As Obi-Wan approached, he saw a blaster being pointed at one of Hondo's right-hand men. The woman behind it appeared to be very calm. Despite her cutting words, her tone remained level - something about her demeanour made Obi-Wan believe that she meant her threat.
'I'm not payin' for a job that didn't get completed.' The pirate slurred, his drink sloshing over the brim of his glass as he threw his arms up in protest.
'Are you trying to scam me, or are you just plain stupid?' Perhaps emphasising her point, she tapped the pirate's forehead with the barrel of her blaster. He was about to respond and escalate the situation even more, but Obi-Wan stepped in before he could. He knew it was none of his business, but it was his natural instinct as a Jedi to help.
'I'd assume he's both.' With the same calm tone as hers, but lacking the vicious edge, Obi-Wan caught the woman's attention. She glanced at him, whilst her blaster remained pointed at the pirate. Her eyes scanned him up and down, doing a double-take.
'A Jedi... on Florrum?' Her brow furrowed.
'Yes. Although this isn't my first choice of holiday destination, believe me.' His words made the corners of her lips turn up into the smallest of smirks. Obi-Wan felt an uncontrollable desire to smile back at her. It seemed as though his usual composure had abandoned him... perhaps Hondo had encouraged him to have one too many drinks.
'Are drunken pirates not your thing?' She laughed and his heart rate increased. Why? Why did it increase?
'Are they yours?' He nodded his head towards the drunkard at the end of her blaster.
'Don't get clever with me, Jedi-' she was smirking, but her expression dropped when she spotted movement in her peripherals. The pirate she had been arguing with was trying to sneak away from his impending death. Obi-Wan could tell that didn't sit well with this mystery woman. 'And you,' she launched forward, grabbing the pirate by his neck, 'better have those credits in my account by sunrise, otherwise, I'll make you regret ever being born. Am I understood?' Her last sentence was punctuated by her blaster tapping the pirate's temple.
'Yeah, yeah.' He slurred, flapping his arms as he stumbled away. Obi-Wan could sense that the pirate knew her threat was genuine. Her blaster was finally holstered and she turned to face him properly.
'I hope you're not expecting a thank you.' She raised an eyebrow.
'Not at all, I've come to expect very little from the clientele around here.' His reply elicited a short laugh from her.
'Very wise.' Neither of them spoke another word, but neither of them moved away. Obi-Wan could feel the Force poking at him, pointing out an unspoken desire to keep the conversation going. But, he bottled it.
'Anyway, it was a pleasure to meet you, but I was just about to retire for the evening.' He couldn't read her expression, but he thought that was probably for the best. He wished he'd forced himself to find something else to talk about; in his head, he could picture Anakin making fun of him. A snarky comment along the lines of: 'veryyy smooth, Master.' sprung to mind.
'Right, you're a Jedi,' she gave a slow nod and a flash of something akin to disappointment crossed her face.
'Meaning?' Rest forgotten, his brow quirked.
'Meaning... you're a Jedi. Lightsaber swinging, righteous, peacekeeper with morals.' Her nose scrunched at the last word.
'And I suppose spending my evening surrounded by immoral, uncivilised criminals doesn't fit that job description.' His eyes widened as he realised the implications of his words, 'not that you're an immoral, uncivilised criminal. I-I mean, you're... you know, you're...' As he continued to stumble over every syllable he tried to utter, she burst into laughter.
'I'm sure I should be flattered by whatever it is that you're trying to insinuate, Master Jedi. But, your first observation was right: I am all of those things, and hanging around people like me doesn't fit your job description.' Every word that left her lips convinced Obi-Wan more and more that she had some kind of Force sensitivity that was causing him to melt on the spot. There she was, admitting to him that she was a criminal - he had already seen her threaten someone at blaster-point. But, something about her was more intoxicating than anything Hondo had offered him to drink. Silence befell the pair of them again, but this time Obi-Wan decided to seize the moment and stop the Anakin-like voice in his head from mocking him.
'I'm sure one more drink before retiring won't hurt. Besides, since I've been here I've found it hard to sleep with all the noise.'
'Yeah, you get used to that.'
'Would you care to join me?' He really felt like he was putting his life on the line here. Dozens of Battle Droids could be standing before him and he wouldn't break a sweat. But, a beautiful bounty hunter and suddenly his resolve was crumbling. She looked somewhat surprised by his invitation, but a smile soon settled on her face.
'Sure, why not? Drinking with a Jedi isn't something you get offered every day.' Obi-Wan nodded in response and glanced to his left, looking for a quieter spot that would keep him away from the prying eyes and ears of pirates. He saw some empty seats at the end of a long table that was littered with Hondo's clientele, all drinking and jeering with one another. The pair of them sat down, but it dawned upon him that he was out of his depth in this setting.
'I, uh- I'm not entirely sure how you get drinks here.' He exhaled a sheepish chuckle, 'usually, I pour my own.'
'And why's that? You don't seem like the bartending type to me.'
'Let's just say that last time Hondo poured me a drink, I woke up in handcuffs.' He grimaced at the memory... handcuffed to Dooku and Anakin no less.
'Handcuffed?' She laughed, 'that was probably just Hondo's idea of a good time.' Normally he would have rolled his eyes at such a comment, but when it came from her he couldn't help but match her laughter.
'Believe me, these circumstances weren't what anybody would describe as a "good time."'
'Maybe where you're from, Master Jedi, but I think you'll find that there are a lot of things we enjoy here that you might... well, arrest us for.'
'Do my eyes deceive me-' A voice cut through the crowd and Obi-Wan willed the ground to swallow him up, '-or is Kenobi still here?' Hondo threw himself down at the table and looked between the pair of them. 'Socialising nonetheless!' He cackled.
'Hondo, do you not have somewhere else you should be?' Obi-Wan hoped he would pick up on the subtle hints in his tone, but who was he kidding? Hondo wouldn't pick up on it if he had outwardly told him to leave him alone with the outlandishly beautiful bounty hunter.
'Somewhere else? You mistake me, Kenobi. I am here to attend to my very esteemed Jedi guest and his-' Hondo's gaze moved to his companion '-new friend.'
'Hondo, always a pleasure.' She greeted him with what Obi-Wan could only describe as a flawless smile. It seemed almost like a reflex - something she had perfected through years of practice.
'Ah! My favourite hunter spending time with my favourite Jedi - what a surprise this is.'
'You should be thanking him, he stopped me from killing one of your crew.' She shot Obi-Wan a smirk. He willed himself to remain composed, especially with Hondo there.
'If he had died, I am sure it would have been deserved,' Hondo flapped his arm in dismissal before throwing it around Obi-Wan's shoulders. He responded to this with a disgruntled expression. 'Of course, this dashing Jedi Master stepped in to save the day. He is, after all, a hero.' Hondo exhaled a whimsical sigh, and Obi-Wan's brow furrowed. He was never this complimentary without an ulterior motive, only he couldn't work out the angle this time.
'I'll drink to that.' Despite Hondo's odd behaviour, she didn't seem to be discouraged.
'But alas, you have no drink,' Hondo shook his head and tutted. 'Kenobi, how could leave your lady-friend sat here practically dying of thirst?'
'I never-' he began to protest, much to his "lady-friend's" amusement.
'-come come, Kenobi. Let us go and fetch the drinks.' Hondo was ushering him out of his seat before he had a chance to process what was happening. He gave a fleeting glance back at the bounty hunter and decided that this was all worth it when he saw the way she laughed. He followed Hondo over to the bar, where hordes of pirates were gathering to get themselves drinks - many of which were sloshing out over the brim of the glasses as they stumbled away.
'What in the stars are you doing, Hondo?' He pinched the bridge of his nose, only speaking once they were out of earshot.
'Me?' He gasped, holding a hand to his chest. 'Why, Kenobi, I am just trying to enjoy an evening with my esteemed guest. How was I supposed to know that you would be socialising with your new friend?' There was a wry tone to his words.
'She's a bounty hunter, Hondo. We aren't friends, per se.'
'Not friends at all it seems. In fact, Hondo would wager that you're more than friends.' He elbowed Obi-Wan, letting out a loud cackle. As Obi-Wan stammered over his words, trying to make up some kind of viable excuse, Hondo leaned over the bar and ordered a round of drinks. When his attention returned to the Jedi, he laughed once again. 'Now now, Kenobi. There is no need for excuses.'
'I'm not making-' he began to huff, but Hondo didn't even register his voice.
'-what you need, Master Jedi, is a pep talk from old Hondo.' With a roll of his eyes, Obi-Wan attempted to interrupt, but Hondo shushed him. 'Kenobi, listen here. What happens on Florrum, stays on Florrum... mostly, anyway.'
'Wise words, as ever.' He snorted.
'Nevertheless! You must seize the day, Kenobi. That,' he gestured to the striking woman who now sat alone at the table, 'is one of the best bounty hunters in the outer rim. You would be a fool to let her pass you by.'
'You never do anything without an angle. You always have something to gain, I just can't work out what it is this time.'
'This is true, this true.' Hondo tutted, shaking his head, 'but can't old Hondo do something for an old Jedi friend out of the kindness of his own heart, just once?'
'No, you can't.' Obi-Wan raised an eyebrow as a momentary pause.
'Pish posh, Master Jedi.' Hondo threw himself to grab the tray of drinks when it arrived. 'I just want you to have a pleasant stay. Besides, if the Jedi council do ever arrive to collect you, I'm sure they'd be willing to heavily compensate such a... generous host.'
'So you mentioned.' If Obi-Wan had a credit for every time Hondo hinted at the Republic paying for his stay, he'd have enough for early retirement.
'Come along now, you can't keep a bounty hunter waiting.' With that, he shoved the tray of drinks into Obi-Wan's hands and pushed him back towards the table. As they approached, his companion's face lit up and he swore he had never seen anything that beautiful in his life. 'How generous of Kenobi to buy all of the drinks,' Hondo announced unnecessarily loudly.
'Did he now?' He could tell that she understood Hondo's angle but must have found it amusing enough to play along.
'I told him that as his host, I would pay. But, he has insisted on giving me the credits back, didn't  you, Kenobi.' A hand outstretched in Obi-Wan's direction and he raised an eyebrow.
'Really?' He knew there was no point in arguing. With a roll of his eyes, he tossed a few credits into Hondo's palm. Any excuse to make money...
'You see that? Generous.' Hondo threw himself down beside the woman, opposite Obi-Wan.
'Hm, well that is the Jedi way, is it not?' She smirked over at him.
'I'm sure being generous isn't just limited to Jedi.' He chuckled, taking a long sip of his drink. Over the rim of the glass, he could see Hondo staring at him, as if he was expecting him to say something else.
'It is in this place, trust me.' She laughed, but he noticed that she was eyeing up his silent exchange with Hondo. After a beat of silence, she exclaimed, 'Kriff, is that a fight over there?' She pointed over Hondo's shoulder and he immediately whipped around, 'shame nobody's taking bets.' She tutted and Obi-Wan had to drink again to hide a laugh at the pirate's expense. Hondo scrambled to his feet and cleared his throat.
'Alas, I have another business venture to pursue. Remember Kenobi, seize the day.' He yelled, before scurrying off. Obi-Wan put his head in his hands and groaned.
'I think I'm in your debt for that.' He withdrew his hands and drank the remainder of his drink at a faster pace than he would usually deem appropriate.
'I'm sure we can find a way for you to repay me.' Her tone, combined with the words, had Obi-Wan's composure turning to dust.
'What do you have in mind?' He hadn't intended for his tone to sound as flirtatious as it did
'That depends, how attached are you to those Jedi morals of yours?' She paused, 'no pun intended.' Obi-Wan was slightly taken aback - was the forbidding  of attachment that well-documented? Even if it were, why did he care that she knew about it?
'I'm not one to question my morals, but the definition of attachment is... somewhat flexible.' He was losing himself in the thought of it; stranded with pirates, a bounty hunter who seemed as intelligent and dangerous as she did gorgeous, and a desire bubbling up that he hadn't felt in as long as he could remember. Was the attitude of the pirates rubbing off on him, or had he had too much to drink? Either way, he really wanted to kiss her.
'It's funny how spending time surrounded by... how did you put it? Immoral, uncivilised criminals can change a man.' Her teasing statement was accompanied by a sip of her drink, her gaze never leaving his from the rim of the glass. When she lowered her glass she took a bold step towards him, 'define flexible.' She smirked, and Obi-Wan thought his heart was going to burst out of his chest with the speed it was beating.
Maker, it wasn't as though he was going to marry her. He had heard tales of Jedi bending the rules in far more serious ways. For liquid courage, he drew his head far enough away from her to empty the remainder of his drink. 'Do you want the dictionary definition, or the metaphorical one?' Having regained some of his wit, he grinned at her and she rolled her eyes.
'You talk too much, Jedi.' She laughed, pulling him towards her so their lips would meet in a passionate blaze. He barely had a chance to react, but quickly settled into the kiss. It was safe to say that this was the highlight of his unplanned stay on Florrum - maybe it had even made the trip worthwhile. The pair's lips moved in tandem for a few moments longer before they separated. 'How do you fancy spending the night on my ship tonight? I may even throw in a lift home for you.' Their lips remained close and her voice was low - it was as if it were just the two of them in the room.
'I wouldn't dare decline, I've already seen what happens to those who get on your bad side.' He smirked and the way her face lit up with a laugh had Obi-Wan ready to do anything she wanted him to.
'What was it Hondo said? Seize the day, Master Jedi... meet me in the hanger in five.' Pressing a chaste kiss to his lips, she left his arms and disappeared into the crowd before he could utter another word - something he was struggling to manage. He shook himself off and moved to gather his belongings from the repurposed cell that had been his home for the past few days. This seemed like a win win situation - a night with the bounty hunter and he would be dropped back home.
'Kenobi!' Hondo bellowed across the room causing Obi-Wan to stop in his tracks and take a moment to breathe and centre himself as he prepared for another interaction with the pirate.
'Hondo, I'm afraid I'm retiring for the evening.' He uttered the moment the pair were face to face.
'Tssh, I thought better of you than lying Kenobi.' He tutted, shaking his head in his usual over-dramatic manner. 'Did you think I wasn't watching?'
'I hoped you weren't at least.' He muttered under his breath as Hondo continued his speech.
'Your lady friend is waiting for you, is she not? Now now, I won't keep you long, but it would not be right of me to let you go without giving you some tips-'
'-no no, that absolutely won't be necessary.' Obi-Wan interrupted faster than a pod-race on Tatooine. 'It's like you said Hondo, seize the day, carpe diem, all of that.' He grimaced, giving Hondo a pat on the shoulder as he slid past him and tried to continue his journey.
'Excellent, Kenobi, excellent!' Hondo called after him as he rushed off. 'Just remember, you wouldn't be here without Hondo and his hospitality during a trying time! I expect payment in full Master Jedi, otherwise your next stay will not be so pleasant!'
'Next stay...' Obi-Wan repeated under his breath, rolling his eyes, 'not a chance.' At last free of Hondo's watchful eye, he scurried to gather his belongings and rush to the hanger.
Perhaps, all things considered, crashing on a hostile planet wasn't the worst thing that could have happened to Obi-Wan.

Toji would definitely baby trap the person he’s obsessed with. Not just because he’ll equate baby with them staying and loving him; but also because he needs a place to stay sometimes and better place to eat and sleep than at your baby mama’s? Sure he poked holes in the condom but he also got the good cup o ramen during pregnancy cravings
Yandere Toji Fushiguro babytrapping reader
Yes but it all fun and games until baby mama starts stressing tf out. She gotta do a job, pay bills, feed not 1 but 2 babies (yes, Toji, I'm talking about you.) Not to mention, her hormones are all out of place, morning sickness and her body is going through some permanent changes. And what's Toji doing? He leaves after having breakfast, saying that he gonna try to find some job and he'll be back before dinner. In reality, he's out either doing bounty hunting or working as a hitman. He thought living with you was good because it gave him a cover, and he thought you were doing pretty good for yourself.
That is until he walked in on you, tied to a chair as two men held you hostage. Toji will never forget the image of you looking completely petrified, tears and sweat covering you, and the gun aimed at your baby bump.
"Y/n." Toji looked at you, ever so calm. "Look at me, it's gonna be okay. I'm not gonna let them hurt you, so take deep breaths with me, okay? 1, 2-" and with that, Toji threw knifes at their heads, killing the men instantly. "-3." He said softly, walking over to you and bending down to untie you.
You looked at him in fear and shock at what you had just witnessed. But Toji just rubbed your wrists gently.
"I'll explain everything. But first, let's get some food in you, hm?" He said, kissing your cheek before pulling you out of your apartment, discreetly sending a text to someone to "clean" your place.
Ever since that night, Toji has been a completely different person to you. Once he told you who he was and what he did for a living, and explained in detail why you can't leave him for some time because he has a lot of enemies, he had you move to his place.
His place? A whole ass lavish penthouse. He told you that he's gonna take care of you from now on, and he really did mean that.
But you didn't know that it meant throwing your old life away forever. He made you quit your job, never leave his house without him, and then told you "you should stop using your phone and laptop so much. The radiations aren't good for the baby." He confiscated all of your electronic devices, so pretty much all contact to the outside world was cut. He did give you a special phone that had his number in it only, for emergencies- which really turned out to be either Toji video calling you to see you and the baby bump, or you calling him to complain about being all out of cup ramen.
Despite him being a literal assassin, he still kept his cool, suave, laid back behaviour with you. He joked around, cooked cup ramen in the best way that you never could, massaged your feet and helped you to bathe, you still couldn't agree on raising your child around a killer.
Then again, it's not like you could run away from him. Like, you can't outrun him bu waddling around at turtle speed. Even if you could, he has cameras around the house and locks on the doors. And even if you did get out of the house, it's not like he wouldn't be able to find you within the next hour or so. All that would lead to is Toji carrying you back to the house and giving you a stern talking to as he forced water and prenatal vitamins down your throat. This is the only time he's mean though, calls you "stupid for endangering our child because you don't understand that it's safer for you both inside!" as he dips your swollen feet in warm water.
And coupled with your pregnancy hormones and his manipulation skills, it isn't long before you're sobbing and apologising because you think nobody will ever love and care about you as much as he does. So now, Toji has to give you cuddles and affection to reassure you he won't leave you.
Toji won't leave you, not when he has already bought a new home with rooms for you, your baby and all of your future kids (he wants 4 more).
Yeah... you're trapped in ways you don't even know.

Your thoughts about Marco x Sora are so good omgggg (<- the anon who asked you about them)
I can't stop thinking about Sora being a pirate after some time, because she's already living on the Moby Dick and married with the First Commander, so why not? (Marco loves loves loves see her fight, actually)
And if the acesan happens would be very funny, and the StrawHats reaction about this?!
Welcome back and I'm glad you like it, truly i am obsessed with Sanji having good parental figures and Sora getting the love she properly deserves. Sora became a pirate in NBL so I don't see why she wouldn't here. Even if she played a more behind the scenes roll there.
Also we didn't really set a time frame for them? So like Sanji could be eight when they join the Shirohige. Sora and Sanji both freaked out by Marco flying them in his talons but they need to make a quick escape from the Navy and animal brain went 'mine' when he saw them. Marco's only explanation is to quite literally look at White Beard and go 'my bird brain went "oo shiny" so i had to bring them' which makes the man laugh so hard the Earth shakes. Vista starts calling him a crow and Marco sets him on fire with a singular look. Marco is so thankful Sanji and Sora are in the infirmary so they didn't see that.
Marco explaining his fruit to them and his place and job in the Shirohige fleet. How his fruit helps because it allows him to treat more than one person at a time or give enough time for back up to come. It doesn't always work. Marco uses it on Sora a lot first mostly because the poison is still affecting her and it's like a god send almost because his fire over time basically cures her. They also use the time to get to know each other and start "dating" because it's really hard to date as a pirate, or a doctor, or a fleet commander. All of which Marco is. They tell Sanji first and he approves of Marco and Sora and Sanji have already joined the crew so ya know, they just gotta tell the crew. The party is extravagant.
Sora makes a comment that she wants to be able to help defend the fleet and the family and Marco agrees and says they'll talk to Jozu and some others about training for her. Sanji is probably already training his kicks and everything because Thatch insists on protecting the kids hands and Jozu has been doing well with him. So them taking on Sora to train is nothing and Vista finds she does very well with a sword and his eyes light up as he looks at Marco and damns him for getting to her first. Marco says he better watch it and they scuffle.
Sanji has to set himself on fire at like thirteen. Marco is watching him and Sora train with Jozu and Vista only to then see his kid set his legs on fire and be thrown into the ocean. He flies out to collect his son and then laughs his ass off at Sora wailing on Vista and Jozu screaming about the dangers of throwing a child off a ship. Marco says she has that covered and checks Sanji over and yep, that's his over abundant(sensitive) haki. Marco says Sanji might be a good candidate for learning to sky walk which is like flying but not really. Sanji is fucking excited. Marco is also so thankful all the god damn time that he and Sora have their own room and they sound proofed it because Marco fully believes Sora hung the moon and the stars and pulls the sun up each morning. Sora has it just as bad back and thinks Marco makes the waves and sea foam. THEY ARE SO GROSS I LOVE THEM OMG
Also could you imagine Ace rocking up to kill the old man and is then held hostage and thinks that blondie around his age is super cute? Too bad he's in the shirohige and Ace fully plans to demolish the fleet until he's forcefully adopted with love and care. Like Ace has no clue what's going on at first because he looks at Marco and then the woman he knows is the guy's wife and just how draped over her he is, like they have to make everyone sick all the fucking time. They have some the highest bounties in the New World. Ace starts flirting with Sanji without a clue to who his parents are and Sanji just gives him that "oh darling" small smile while he leans on the railing and smokes.
During one of these flirting sessions Marco strolls up and is like 'Hey, Thatch said you're in charge of shopping this time, you can head to the island if you want' and Sanji nods and sky walks to the land mass. Marco laughs at that and takes Sanji's spot and gives Ace a smile. When he asks Ace what his intentions are with his son Ace goes pale and sinks to the deck as Marco fucking loses it. Marco pats his shoulder and says he takes after his mom just like Sanji takes after Sora and they approve of the relationship.
Sanji ends up joining the Straw Hat crew on the hunt for Teach and absolutely flirts with Ace in Alabasta who flirts back way harder. Like they are the remix of Sora and Marco and clingy flirting and draping okay? Marco said that's a Roger thing and White Beard 100% agreed with that assessment and said Marco is a bird that mated for life and Marco couldn't argue because his fruit some times overwrites his human nature.
Back on track: Ace and Sanji flirt so fucking hard no one on the ship can believe it. Despite the fact they've been dating for a while, Sanji probably never mentioned he had a boyfriend(or parents) to the crew and just went along with whatever they thought. When they meet Rayleigh he and Shakky look Sanji over with a very high interest because he looks like that one brat's wife. Sanji is like 'yeah, Marco took me and mom to the fleet and we joined and they're married and he's the man I consider my father' which makes Rayleigh blink because why the fuck is he in the Straw Hat crew? He's a White Beard brat? Sanji just shrugs and is like 'idk seemed fun, bonding with my bf's little bro' which makes the Strawhats fucking lose it. They are sent to another plain of existence except Luffy who is like 'cool, we're brothers'.
Then like Marineford happens and Luffy is there, Sanji isn't, Ace is about to be fucking merced and then Sora and Marco are there like 'can't kill the son in law fuckers' and like yeah, White Beard dies but Ace doesn't. That wound is a mortal wound and so is Luffy's but Marco is a bird brained doctor and he has absolutely 'oo shiny''d his son's bf so like he's in the family in the family, ya know? It's fine if not and we can go deeper in that later need be.
Also could you imagine Marco coming up as an Emperor in this? Like the battle against Black Beard is more a draw than anything else so they are both brought to the status of Emperor and damn those bounties are fucking HIGH. Of course parental sin bullshit means Sanji and Ace's bounties also fucking go astronomical, more so than before. Like holy shit the straw hat crew is looking at Ace and Sanji post ts and how fucking gross they are but they are still two of the most wanted men in the new generation and should be feared.
Would you guys believe I got a normal amount of sleep?
