Astrology: How trauma affects communication via Mercury

Aries Mercury - They grew up in a loud atmosphere, with lots of yelling. Possibly had one ��leader” or “dictator” in their childhood home that they felt they had to obey. They grow up believing that they need to communicate quickly and loudly or else they risk never being heard. For people who felt they were not allowed to play loudly as children, play is healing later in life.

Taurus Mercury - Someone else always came before them. They had to learn to be patient and wait for their turn to speak. Their survival was determined by your ability to cooperate and choose the right alliances. They saw that trusting the wrong person could be detrimental to their wellbeing. Keeping their language neutral and friendly was most palatable for their parents. Music, singing, and healing the throat chakra is healing for these people.

Gemini Mercury - If they were smart enough, they would be praised. When things got too much, they learnt that they could throw themselves in books and mysterious. Their parents or the adults around them had different communication styles, so they had to learn to pick up different styles of communication in order to get their needs met. They also learnt that looking good and pleasing to the eye would help them relate better to others. At its worst, Gemini mercury learnt to use information in exchange for power or leverage, such as gossiping and rumour spreading. Humour is healing for these people.

Cancer Mercury - It’s hard for them to process and move on from what happened, so speaking about it can feel very real and present in their body. It’s often on the mind, and as a result, they limit their communication. When they do speak, they can overwhelm others with the amount that comes out. Learning to be ok with their own voice and narrative above what others say is healing. Also , drink water.

Leo Mercury - As a child, the communication around them was excessive and over the top. They learnt that to avoid punishments or drama, it is best to take control of the situation and shut it down quickly. Others couldn’t always be there to care for them, so they had to become hyper self-sufficient. You had to learn things by themselves, and as a result, they don’t do well in group settings such as class rooms, unless they’re in charge. They’re better at grasping attention from men than women or gender diverse people. They may have strived for their fathers attention from a very young age. Letting their fire out via creativity is healing.

Virgo Mercury - Every move they made was criticised and resulted in punishments. To survive, they needed to absorb this style of thinking for themselves and those they love. They think that if they’re hyper aware, they can prevent anything bad from ever happening again. There are a lot of thoughts and concerns directed at their body. Healing their mind and their body simultaneously is paramount. This is why the physical work required with animals can be so healing for them. Also - eat well.

Libra Pisces - Criticised for making mistakes or not appearing as others thought they should, they learnt to cover up their mistakes and insecurities by pretending everything is fine. They’ll do better than fine, they’ll speak a whole PR performance about how fine everything is... Allow them space to be imperfect. Finding the beauty in their mistakes is healing.

Scorpio Mercury - Defiant and secretive, the trauma is in the eyes. They can not take back all that they have seen, but they’ve also been taught to hide it. They may avoid eye contact in an attempt to avoid an argument. Their eye contact is intense when they want others to hear their pain. They didn’t have strong parental figures, so they learnt to be independent and in control of themselves. Growing up, people around them weren’t always truthful or honest. This has left them with a feeling of always seeking the truth. They were led to believe that their emotions were too much for others. However, these intense emotions never leave them, they just learn to hide or redirect intense thoughts in secretive ways. Self compassion is the key to healing.

Sagittarius Mercury - Naturally intelligent, they received more attention and praise at school than at home. They aim big and far away as a way to avoid addressing the present situation. As a result they don’t address the repressed hurt that pushed them to run away or towards that thing so far away. The more they heal from the past, the bigger the future truly becomes.

Capricorn Mercury - Their parents were practical and analytical. They were put to work at a young age, either around the house or in a family business. Their parents weren’t emotionally open or affectionate, as a result their tone of voice is blunt and controlled. Ruled by Saturn, the planet of fear, there was a sense of fear at a primary age when they were first learning to speak. Working in what they love is healing and where they find joy. Also - move them bones.

Aquarius Mercury - Their language can somethings sounds strange or unusual, such as a lisp, a stutter, mumbling, or jumbles words. They detached from their voice when they detached from their body as a way to survive. Now they swing between detachment via humour and avoidance, and to re-experiencing the emotions in a flash. The more they analyse everything outside of them the better, it avoids turning the analysing inwards on themselves. Escaping into nature is healing and helps to quieten the mind, in order for the bigger issues to be healed.

Pisces Mercury - The dissociation struggle is real. Difficulty listening and following along with others that are speaking. Due to fearing that they may say the wrong thing, they learnt that it’s better to give vague, indirect responses. They learnt that it was better to be able to back peddle than say something blunt that can’t be taken back. The freedom to experience self expression is healing. The more that comes out of them, the more internal space to absorb new information and communication clearly.

Now here’s some background as followed….

Modern astrology was invented in the 1900’s so themes of Christianity and Patriarchy had every opportunity before then to instill some of its values into the practice. the REASON why modern astrology keeps associating mars and Scorpio with sex is because Scorpio rules over the genitals but it only rules over the genitals and not sex at all in traditional astrology. We keep associating the planet of conquest that is mars with sex because we have been taught by a patriarchal and puritanical society to view sex as something that should only be done in secret, is hidden and/or otherwise taboo. When you associate the planet of “conquest” mars that is malefic dominant, wrong-doing, unethical, consumes wastefully and against the good will of others with intercourse, sex then sounds like something that’s exploitative and nonconsensual. Let’s imagine mars did rule sex which it objectively does not, rape would then be a huge theme of that. Mars in general does rule assault but there is nothing amorous and consenting about the red planet. You’re probably thinking to yourself “well patriarchy is at minimum 6000 years old” and you’re absolutely right, patriarchal values are really old but many ancient and indigenous societies had faiths and beliefs that transcended these values and this is what ancient astrology draws from.

I often talk with scorpios and mars ruled people who become frustrated every time at the thought of them being hypersexualized because of their sign and just overall not feeling like a sexual person at all so hopefully this brought some confirmation to any of you mars ruled or dominant people out there.

Cancer Man:

Title: "The Player"

For simplicity's sake, I will use the pronouns “he/him” for the male versions of the signs and “she/her” for the female versions of the signs. This is not to say that the people who identify with the male or female versions of each sign identify with those pronouns. This post is focusing on the different sexes (male vs female) not gender. Gender is fluid and I am in no way labeling people with these posts. Also, these posts are focusing solely on the Sun signs of each zodiac, other birth chart placements may cause someone to not fit into everything I have described.

The Cancer Man is the zodiac’s prince charming.

He is a self-professed perfect gentleman who is clean-cut, polite, coolly composed, and seemingly tailor-made to the specifications of a traditionally-minded person.

The Cancer Man is the embodiment of the female gaze.

He personifies the male role in what he sees as a matriarchal world. He recognizes women as the authority.

Out of all the zodiac signs, he is the most likely to save himself for marriage.

He plays the role of the savior in his relationships.

He wants to be the ‘provider’ in his relationships which tends to make him career-minded.

He is the best at understanding the female mind.

He has a unique ability to empathize with women and view life from their perspective.

He is generally a pretty cool and collected character so he looks to the women in his life to provide outpourings of emotions and when they do, he sucks it up like a sponge.

He surrounds himself with women because he feels the most comfortable around them. It is women with whom he takes most of his life advice.

He is very guarded around men.

He is scared of being judged by other men so he learns at an early age to wear a mask around men. He masks his thoughts and disguises his emotions in an attempt to go along with the guys.

During his sexual development, he is intensely apprehensive of being ridiculed for his inherently sensitive side. As a result, he ends up becoming the most shut down instead of the most sensitive in the zodiac.

He is a born romantic. However, he may be well into his twenties before breaking through his adopted nonchalant exterior, letting his softer side show.

It isn’t until he “secures” a steady relationship that he will feel comfortable revealing his more delicate sensibilities.

Like actual crabs who can live on both land and water, the Cancer guy inhabits two worlds at once, presenting himself as a concrete, down-to-earth type while possessing a murky and mysterious sensuality.

When he is with his friends he will huddle in close circles, typically only addressing those within earshot. He may even prefer to have his back to the crowd so people won’t notice him.

Usually he will be around five-nine or five-ten.

His face is moon-shaped, or oval.

His chest and stomach are not very toned, more on the soft side.

His nipples are highly sensitive. They may be a source of great pleasure for him.

He may have an hourglass figure in some way.

He wants to be the breadwinner in his partnerships. Typically he will go after creative careers that allow him to tap into his sensitive side and communicate with a large array of people. He would prefer his career having to do with his humor.

However, if his partner is the breadwinner in their relationship he will take on the role of the stay at home husband and take over all of the duties I mentioned above.

To the Cancer man there is no such thing as sharing these roles. One person has to be the breadwinner and the other will take on the more domestic roles.

His partner will become his mentor shaping his character, providing the appropriate all-important healthy and motivating environment in which he can grow and achieve his goals; so long, that is , as he puts himself, completely, into her capable hands.

In most of his relationships his partner will become the ‘boss’ while he is her ‘slave’.

He will play prince-charming in order to get exactly what he wants out of a woman. Which usually is offspring.

He grooms himself according to what he thinks women like.

He makes women feel secure. He wants her to feel as though he will be eternally by her side, because once he decides on a partner he will never leave their side.

Women often find themselves opening up much more than they ever would have around a cancer man. However, if they really look they will notice that he is only half listening to them, he will just be pretending he is listening because he knows that's what a woman wants.

(This turned out longer than intended but its good so I hope you read it 😭)

So I didn't say that Anuradha reminds me of teen shows set in high school, I just said that that it reminds me of TVD and VERY similar shows, and I only really meant its tone and vibes.

With TVD I do have a specific reason: the author of the novels that the show is based on has Ketu in Anuradha, and Ketu placement really comes out in art and any creative projects, including writing, it's very common, and I'm actually not the first one to say that, Claire Nakti did it as far as I know, but I do have my own examples of Ketu being the main influence of a person's creativity. I have a post about that specifically. Tbh even before discovering the Ketu placement of the author TVD still for some reason reminded me of Anuradha, like, it's fully in Scorpio(connected to the 8th house of the occult, secrets, sex, death, depths), and I'm sure you will agree that it fits the show. Also the high school friend group aspect of it is very Anuradha, considering Anuradha's ruling god is Mitra, god of friendships. Even the fact that main females in the show are cheerleaders is very fitting, cheerleaders being an organised group of people devoting their time and energy to cheering and supporting their chosen team's success. Anuradha is "the star of success", and it's desire is "to be regarded as a friend in all the worlds", its power is "Radhana shakti", meaning the power of worship, so, I think you get its nature.

Another show I mentioned was "Sex Education" and it also deals with friendships and love and sex(intimacy, in general, in every sense of the word) in a high school setting. I think what makes high school very Anuradha to me is the fact that people attend it at a time when they're exploring, or, wanting to explore intimacy deeply, and obviously, people naturally get sucked into different friend groups while being there, or ar least, they have their place, and Anuradha relates to the organization of society.

What's interesting is that most, if not all movies and TV shows set in high school prove the point the point that while those "cliques" do make a difference on the surface, the real truth(the hidden, the occult, the secrets relating to the 8th house and Scorpio) is that all those individuals who come from different social groups, find a connection between them that's beyond what society has organized, and that's way deeper, or they go through an experience together, whether as friends, enemies, lovers, frenemies, or two or more of these and they are bonded via that experience, in a unique way, kinda like "The Breakfast Club". 8th house does relate to sex, and it can be viewed as merging two separate, opposite things together relating to Vishakha, which ends the signs of libra of partnerships, where one viewes its opposite partner as separate from them, and begind Scorpio, where both of them are one and the same. Vishakha comes before Anuradha, and its other name is "Radha"(the gift), so, "Anuradha" is the "subsequent gift(spark, success)".

This is a lot and I hope you get what I'm saying, especially cause Anuradha is a very interesting nakshatra to me. Let me know if this makes sense 🤍
