"oh how do i romanticize my life when it's so ugly" first of all shut up. nobody gives a fuck if your school is ugly or your room is ugly. in movies, is every room or every school or every character or every life perfect and lovely and well put together? no. because there's beauty in being imperfect and ugly and you fail to realize that. you're never gonna be happy and you're never gonna succeed in romanticizing your life if you can't accept the ugly and still decide to find beauty in it. romanticizing your life isn't only about making it pretty but it's also about loving it as it is. loving your tattered school uniform or loving your knock knees or loving your messed up life or loving your sadness or loving your grieving or loving your loneliness or loving the dirt in your room. it's about loving everything because how can you find beauty in it without loving it first?

y'know for some reason it's so easy to get lost in romanticized fantasies about future everyday life but so difficult to romanticize my current everyday life. they aren't even that much different in setting. they both occur in academia (the romanticized story is about me being a professor doing important biomedical research and teaching engaging classes with a side of rom com/wholesome family drama lol), just that the future is so idealized, it doesn't feel real anymore, it just feels like escapism.
the thing is, i like it when things feel real. but romance and reality never seem to be able to coexist in my brain, even if i want them to.
without spending a dime or wasting time on non-priorities (e.g. my photography skills are shite so it takes too long to get good shots), how do you romanticize your life without losing sight of reality?

Sorry for the inactivity, I've been pretty busy with school:'[
I've been watching delicious in dungeon and it's a pretty cool anime, it's worth watching in my opinion!
Also this Monday I won't go to school and go for coffee with my friends, it's going to be wonderful!
I've been appreciating walks alone more and more, and I've gotten back into drawing, it's really fun!
Some tips to enjoy walks alone!
Go to cafes! Seriously! No one will judge you! Everyone has their own things going on in life and they wouldn't care about what you're doing in a cafe!
Grab something to eat from a bakery. I understand if you find it pricy sometimes, depending on what you're getting, but even entering a bakery and smelling all of the amazing scents is worth it
Skim through books in a library/bookstore! It's always worth it and maybe you'll find a good read too!
Walk through nature, go to a park you've never been in or a forest if you have one in your area. Connecting with nature is really beneficial for your mental health so it's a good opportunity for you!
Go through a neighborhood you've never been too and look at the houses! Comment on the architecture in your head and think about what your ideal house would look like!
Go to supermarkets and look through the isles! I know it sounds boring but don't knock it till you try it! Smelling candles, looking through the school supplies or, a personal favorite, containers and cookware is so relaxing to me, and I recommend it to you too!
Turn off the music and analyze your thoughts. Maybe psychoanalyze yourself, why you act the way you do, maybe you can help yourself heal!
"Mirah that sounds good and all, but what do I bring with me?"
Well that really depends on your hobbies, but there are definitely some must haves when going on walks alone
A bag to put your stuff in. Obvious, yes, but a good backpack can always be beneficial!
A water bottle! Hydration is really important and if you plan on being out for hours and don't want to spend any money, definitely bring one
Something to eat. It isn't 100% necessary, and it doesn't have to be something complicated, some fruit or a small sandwich is enough.
A book. Finding the perfect spot to read is like a little adventure. Maybe you discover something new in the way. And it always makes every destination 100× more enjoyable!
A notebook. It can vary in size, shape, lined or not. Have it with you to write down your thoughts, doodle something, put things you find on the ground between the pages, write poems, you name it!
And you can't have a notebook without writing equipment! I am an artist so I always carry around pens and my colored pencils!. Though, from artist to artist, it would be best to carry with you the most convenient art supplies, the ones that don't take up too much space in your backpack or can fit in a pencil case.
Headphones. I've never left the house without my headphones. I don't think I need arguments for this one it's blatantly obvious.
A tad bit of money. Don't overdo it tho. This isn't a shopping spree, it's a walk to renew our energy! Personally I like to bring less than 2€ with me to challenge myself into not buying anything, unless I enter a cafe of course!
Hand sanitizer or wipes! If you plan touching a lot of things or are very cautious, these need to be in your backpack. I've dropped my earphones too many times and I needed a sanitary wipe to clean it and I didn't have any, let's say it wasn't pleasant with only one earbud
Walks outside are one of my favorite things to do and I hope I inspired you enough to do the same!I wish you have nice times like these too. May life fill you with happiness and joy, and I hope you have a good weekend/week! 🩷

my plans for summer ❦
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i dunno about you but i always, always spend my summers absolutely depressed. it's not a matter of whether or not you i friends, because i always have, but rather it's an issue of all that fucking time on your hands. two whole months of just.. nothing. so what do you even do? my plans for summer mainly revolve around helping my future self. because once september rolls around, what good will it be if i spent the past 2 months lazing around in bed? i won't be benefited by that, quite the opposite, really. so instead i've figured out what i need for the new school year and to really reach the goals i have for this upcoming year (post on that soon !). nothing revolutionary, sure, but it'll definitely help out at least a couple of you wondering what to do this summer <3
self care. this means caring of my body both inside and out. inside, i'm working on self improvement by becoming a kinder, more feminine person. i'm getting over my failed situationships and getting more comfortable being alone. i'm practicing detachment and, of course, protecting my peace. outside, i'm working on my hair and my body. i don't think it's any help to work on my wardrobe, because in summer you make really shit decisions. i've begun working out 3 times a week with my friend who's more experienced in the gym, mainly working on my glutes, cardio and abs. i'm planning on investing in heatless curlers, because my hair's volume hasn't been great. <3 ways you could practice self care: inside, you could work on your gut health, diet (eating healthy, not practicing any restrictive eating!), mental health, social life, self confidence. outside, you could work on your physical health (gym, running, biking), skincare, hair health, wardrobe (if you trust your decision making during this season), posture.
hobbies. you're not gonna want to go to the gym or journal every day, so finding some ways to spend your time alone and having fun can be really beneficial. i've started watching a couple tv shows, in july i'll be watching a movie every day (hopefully), scrapbooking more, making bracelets, and cooking. these aren't necessarily beneficial to future me, however they are fun and beneficial to present me, and balance is really important! summer is the time to take on projects and begin passions for things you can't do during the school year. hobbies that could help you: if you want something beneficial, try learning a new language, practicing an art (music, painting, writing), learning to cook, taking up a new sport, learning touch typing, or reading. if you want something fun, try watching a new tv show (skins, gossip girl, pretty little liars), watching a movie a day (you could do movies all with the same actor, by the same director, in a series, etc), scrapbooking, keeping a journal, growing a garden, crocheting, or decorating your room.
jobs. i have a late birthday so i can't volunteer yet, so instead i've taken on a few "jobs", mainly babysitting and doing things for my parents. it's not the most fun but if you want the money for the new school year (especially new clothes), you should do it. put the money into savings. of course, if you're under 15 you likely can't do much, but it's worth a shot. jobs you could take on: getting your volunteer hours (summer camps!), babysitting, working at fast food, designing carrds, mowing lawns.
planning. lastly, i'm planning out my next school year. it's good to have things figured out so that september doesn't hit you too hard. i'm working on things like schedules, study guides, phone decluttering, and, most fun, moodboards. i'll make a bigger post about my plans in specific <3 this is also a really great way you could practice manifesting. make your intentions clear and assume that these things will happen, and they will, but this isn't the place to be learning about that. things you could plan: your daily schedule (by the hour), outfit ideas, lunch ideas, goals, the mood for this school year, a desk system.
