27.03.2024// busy busy week so far, but the easter break starts soon!! i've even managed to squeeze in some phd reading today which i'm so happy about :)
Trying to get rid of an excessive number of screenshots I’ve collected on my laptop, so I agreed with myself to delete them after I draw them. The two on the left are Pluto manga ones, and the rest are AB2003. Even after clearing out ones I wasn’t too interested in drawing, my desktop looks like this 💀💀💀
Yep that’s the Ministry of Science in the background too — I have it set to change depending on the time of day (there are multiples of this particular image throughout the series in different lighting conditions!)
27.03.2024 // first meeting with my advisory committee, getting some focussed reading done, attending a completion seminar, and preparing a paper for a workshop.
[no playlist today; I didn't want my brain to wander off into dreamlands]
Handed in my first homework and was free to leave early so I took it as a chance to go work on my academic writing essay plan for a bit and plan out the week on my planner. Also tried to get some transcripts from my uni but the system went down so I have to wait ig 🙃
ive finished reading the research paper that i have to present in my seminar class at the end of april. now i have one more paper to read for a presentation in my spatial and temporal models course.
also, since ive missed so much class, im playing catch up with notes. and bc i dont remember anything, i’m rewriting my pde notes (this is my study method for math). im stressed, but everything will be okay.
Re-member. Re: again, anew. Member: part, piece, belonging to a group. Remember, recollect, bring it all together again, anew. Keep. Remembering is craft, alchemy, association, recognition. As the artist changes, so do the boundaries, so does the memory, so does the family. Remember me. Gather me. Arrange me new. Life-giving work. To be a part of the whole; to not go unnoticed; to be collected again after having been lost.
27.03.2024 | Last day of being posted in General Surgery. It was overwhelming but I'll miss the rush. I think I've finally gotten the hang of fourth year. Medicine next! (please be good to me).
A technique for better comphrension and memorazing of textbooks
Steps
Preview: Read the introduction and headings, look at the pictures, graphs, etc
Question: Ask yourself questions before reading. What are you trying to learn from this?
Read the material/textbook
Reflect: Were the questions answered? How? What did you learn?
Recite: Think about the material, discuss it, write it down, explain it to the wall
Review: What were the main points? Did you understand them? Were your questions answered?
Pros
Helps you have better reading comphrension (understand the material=easier to study)
It is really effective in that aspect.
It's quick. Preview and Question takes a few minutes and if there is an assignment with the material, it can cover the Recite part
Cons
It cannot stand as a study method on its own. It is amazing to undertand the topic, but not to study it. It needs to be complemented
Disclaimer: even if the "con" makes you think "oh, i shouldnt use this method because i need to complement it", thats false. The reason for this is because it is a reading method instead of an studying one. It works wonders and will help you a lot even if it doesnt seem like it.
Subject we recommend for this method
History, Geography, Literature, Civics/Ethics, Sociology, all subjects with that way if working
i haven’t been active here lately. but here are some updates!!
we just did our toga fitting for our graduation in july 🩷 everybody’s ecstatic.
time flies!!! only a few days before we rotate outside our institution for surgery and we are sad, but also excited for our out rot where we can do a lot of suture.
did i learn a lot this month? definitely. did i like surgery? yes.
i am still using my journal. i just haven’t taken a lot of pictures of it lately because when i get home, i just usually do my usual routine / chores i need to do, because i always have to wake up at 4 in the morning so i can avoid traffic and get to the hospital at 530AM. and when i get home i’m usually so tired. no time to reflect which makes me kind of sad.
things i’m looking forward to:
spending more time with my groupmates this april
more journaling / reflecting
more studying
my anniversary celebration with my beau on april 9th 🩷
This is Bisan Owda (@wizard_bisan1 on IG), she's a young journalist who's been documenting the daily life in Gaza, Palestine since before October of last year and continues to do so now, as her and her family have been displaced by Israel, her home and workplace destroyed in the bombings. If you don't already follow her, I highly suggest to do so, as she takes interviews from the local people in the refugee camps and provides a fantastic insight into Palestinians as a nation, their culture and the horrors they face under the Israeli apartheid regime in their own land.🇵🇸🇵🇸🇵🇸
