Day 02 of @remadoramicrofics - Cat
“Alright,” Remus said as he, Tonks, and Teddy stepped back into the daylight streaming through Diagon Alley, “all that’s left is a magical companion.”
Tonks clapped her hands excitedly. “Perfect, we’ll get you an owl and then take an ice cream break at Florean Fortescue's Ice Cream Parlour!”
“Mum, I want a cat,” Teddy said for what felt like the thousandth time.
“We understand, but an owl would, perhaps, be a little more useful,” Remus tried.
“You know your father and I will have an endless supply of letters to send you,” Tonks added.
“I won’t need an owl for that!” Teddy protested, “Dad will be there everyday. Nan said that I could get whatever I wanted.”
“We know,” Remus sighed, “but a cat is a lot of responsibility. Hogwarts will tend for an owl, but you’d be entirely responsible for a cat – on top of being responsible for your studies.”
“I’m not a little kid any more, I know!”
Remus wanted to point out that eleven was far from an adult, but decided to bite down on that fact.
“What if you’re allergic?” Tonks tried.
Teddy folded his arms in front of himself. “I’ll have to get one first to find out.”
In truth, Remus didn’t think a cat would be a terrible amount of responsibility, nor did they have any reason to believe Teddy to be allergic. Rather, Remus Lupin for the first time in eleven years feared that someone he loved would be irreversibly impacted by his disease. When Teddy had first mentioned getting a cat, he and Tonks had discussed it at length. Most of the conversations involved Tonks taking Teddy’s side while Remus worried that his condition would lead to the cat running off or displaying some other behavioral issues.
This fear had then, rapidly, morphed into the fear that his son would hate him for his condition. And of course, the ever-present fear that Teddy would find himself ostracized or ridiculed for his lineage reared its ugly head. Tonks had spent the last week insisting that was ridiculous, but Remus felt the familiar, isolating anxiety clawing at him now, in a busy street with the two people he loved most in the world.
Teddy folded his arms in front of himself, his roots tinging a deep burgundy color. “Why don’t you want me to get a cat?”
Tonks, bless her heart, tried to come up with an argument that they hadn’t already rehearsed and given him, but Remus just sighed; he never wanted his son to think his parents were liars. “Teddy, I know you want a cat, and you’re right, I’m sure things would go fine at Hogwarts, but the cat will have to live at home, too and…well, pets and werewolves, especially cats and werewolves don’t always mix. I wouldn’t want to –”
“How do you know?” his son asked.
“Well, I…I just – it’s, what do you mean?”
“We’ve never had a cat, Dad, so how do you know all cats don’t like you?”
“It’s like the old adage – cat’s and dogs, you know,” Tonks said as she rested a hand on their son’s shoulder.
“But some cats and dogs get along and Dad isn’t a dog. Harry said that Uncle James’s anigamus form was a stag and those aren’t typically friends with wolves.”
“That was a little different, Teddy.”
“Well, can’t we just see? I mean, maybe we could meet a few cats before you outlaw one entirely.”
Remus nodded. “Alright, and maybe you could ask Nan about letting the cat stay there during holidays.”
Teddy rolled his eyes at Remus and Remus was struck, not for the first time, at just how much like his mother he looked. “I won’t get a cat that doesn’t like you, Dad.”
“Well, it’s good to have options,” Remus said, though he didn’t miss the look his son and wife shared as he led them to the magical menagerie.
There wasn’t much room inside. Every inch of wall was hidden by cages. Remus, with his heightened smell and hearing, found the place to be quite overwhelming because the occupants of these cages were all squeaking, squawking, jabbering or hissing.
“What about this one?” Teddy said as he pointed to a tabby orange thing flopped onto its back. “I’d name him Gideon.”
“Because Gideon Crumb is a ginger?” Remus ventured.
“I knew you liked the Weird Sisters,” Tonks said enthusiastically.
“Just because I know a member’s name does not mean I enjoy listening to the two of you belt out the lyrics off-key.” That wasn’t entirely true; while Remus didn’t think either of them had a musical career ahead of them, he did quite enjoy the moments where they’d be cleaning their home and Dora and Teddy would turn every song into a duet.
“Can we see that one?” Remus asked the attendant. She wore heavy black spectacles and looked him up and down warily.
“It’s his first year and he’s picking out a companion,” Tonks said as she set a hand on Teddy’s shoulder.
“Yeah, he doesn’t really show any prowess,” she said duly as she pulled the cat from the cage and plopped it, rather ungracefully into Teddy’s arms. He immediately morphed his hair to match.
“You have to admit,” Tonks whispered as Teddy headed to one of the sectioned off areas, “They’re rather cute together.”
“He’d be cute next to a boggart, Dora,” Remus returned fondly.
“Mum, Dad, come meet Gideon.”
Remus took a deep breath and held it as he reached his hand out to the orange tabby. To his surprise, Gideon immediately butted his head into Remus’s palm. “I think he likes you,” Tonks said with a grin as she ruffled Teddy’s hair. “So, now that that’s settled, who’s ready for ice cream?”

happy first birthday to Cariad, my postwar Remus x Tonks survive AU! 🥳
I wanted to finish this thing in a matter of months and then life got in the way. It's a year later and I'm still not done (but I'm so close to finishing!). So, in honor of Cariad's first birthday, let me tell you about it and gush about my blorbos.
I didn't plan on writing Cariad. I was almost done with Collide, my first fanfic, when a reader asked if there would be a sequel. I thought on it and decided to do it.
I had a LOT of fears going into writing Cariad. Unlike my time-traveling Tonks series, or the time traveling Teddy one, which had a pretty set structure with canon events for me to rely on, Cariad was a brand new endeavor. The central question that guided my plot:
If Remus and Tonks had lived, would they have stayed together?
and, what is the story about, when you strip everything else away?
What makes a life worth living and fighting for?
My quickest answer to the first question was always yes, but not without significant growth and challenges. They got married in wartime and didn't have much time together to be a 'normal' couple. When the big thing is taken away - the war - and the world is being reconstructed around them, what happens next?
The second question has a simple answer: love. Love is worth living and fighting for, including love of self, love of other, and love of community. Cariad addresses all of these things, told in three story "arcs," as I call them.
The first 25 chapters follow the immediate reconstruction of the wizarding world. Remus and Tonks are finding their place in this new society that isn't yet healed. There's grief, there's rebuilding, there's struggle. But most of this is centered on the world around them - how do we rebuild after the war? How do we create a society that's friendly to a family with a lycanthrope? There's love of community here - Remus and Tonks spent all these years fighting for their beliefs in improving the world around them, and now it's here. But it's not easy. Post-war reconstruction is messy and hard. Remus experiences so many disappointments, job setbacks, and Tonks is naive enough to think it'll get better more quickly. She learns that's not how it works, and she's inundated with work and her own ideals. By the time we get to the early 2000s, three years after the war is over, things are better, and their family expands.
The second 25 chapters, the second 'arc' of the story, centers on love of the other. When Remus and Tonks's daughter, Hope, is born, she's born with lycanthropic traits. Not a werewolf, but not 'healthy.' Remus's insecurities, coupled with Tonks's frustrations, lead to a painful separation. Their relationship has been focused on each other, yes, but so much of their energy has been put into the world around them and not necessarily the other. Hope's birth reveals these deep-seated problems that needed to be resolved, and so Remus and Tonks have to fight for their relationship. They had to fight to hold onto each other because committed relationships like this are both hard work and serious play. It was really hard to write some of these chapters, but ultimately, it was very gratifying to put them back together stronger than before.
The last 25 chapters, the third 'arc' of the story, centers on the family, especially the oldest children, Teddy and Hope. Here we're getting into the lesson of loving yourself. Teddy's the eldest and has experienced more prejudice, as a result of being around when the world was not as kind to Remus. His sense of self-worth is tied up in his ability to be a good brother, a good student, and a perfect son. He'll need to learn that he's good because he's Teddy, not because he perfects a role. Hope, having what I'm framing as a chronic illness, has a chip on her shoulder. She wants to prove she's just as good as Teddy and her famous parents, and she'll need to learn she doesn't have to prove anything to anyone. In this third part, we'll see Remus and Tonks settling into parenthood, making mistakes, but the spotlight will go to Teddy and Hope, as they come of age and come to terms with who they are.
At the end of the day, these are the three major plot points of Cariad. Fight for the world around you, so you can make it a better place. Fight for those you love, so you can play and work to build a life together. Fight for yourself, so you can be happy with who you are, as you are, because you're worth it.
It's been hard work to produce this fic, as creating plot points has been a lot of original work. Nevertheless, I've enjoyed writing it, and for those who have read it, I hope you've enjoyed being along with me for the journey.

i haven't read DH in years and years and idk if it's because i'm older now or what but i am legit distressed reading about lupin's reaction to tonks at the end of the seven potters 😭 (the s2 tenth doctor of it alll......!!!!) he is so fucking scared and angry, and harry's outsider pov (that isn't very good at picking up on romantic cues) is such a good way to describe it. idk. it's been hours since i set that chapter down and i'm still thinking about it!

“You look beautiful, Remus” She had said. Her hand trailed his chest to his back and all over again. She whispered sweet words, full of love and passion. “You’re gorgeous” She breathed into his ear. “You’re lovely” She groaned. Remus didn’t say anything back. He couldn’t. He was busy reading in his sweater while she was wearing a revealing dress that revealed a little too much cleavage for his liking.
She tried to weasel her way in his lap, slipping over his book and throwing her arms around his neck, kissing him deeply. Remus couldn’t do it. Not when he was thinking of him.
The him, the one.
and she says you look beautiful tonight
He liked Nymphadora, he really did. Just not how she wanted him to love her. He liked to spend time with her, but not like how she wanted to spend time with him. He preferred sitting and talking about things they enjoyed, sipping tea. She preferred whispered nothings in ears, breathless moans, and being driven over the edge a bit too hard.
and i feel perfectly fine
But Remus didn’t like that with her. He felt love for her as something of a friend. There was only one person who he wanted to whisper things in his ear, moan at something particularly good he was doing, and be driven over the edge by.
but i miss screaming and fighting
They loved each other. Remus and Sirius. They had a different type of love. It was complicated, messy, chaotic, but real. It was an emotional and sensitive. It felt like what love should feel like. But Sirius had told Remus something that broke Remus’s heart. “I wish you were a girl.” He said after a year of being together. He had his hand on his cheek and was crying.
and kissing in the rain
He missed the intimate nights of them being together. He missed the moonlit kisses they had. He missed Sirius.
and it’s 2 am and i’m cursing your name
The last night they were together they both went to bed crying. “What do you mean, you wish I was a girl?” Remus asked through gritted teeth. Remus knew what he meant.
“I just mean I love you but you’re not the type of person I should be dating.” Sirius said, a tear running down his face.
Remus felt his face heat up in embarrassment. He jerked away from Sirius’s hand. “How could- How-“ He didn’t finish.
“Remus I-“
“No.” Remus said. He packed his bag in the night. He didn’t come back. Not for 4 months.
So in love that you act afraid
“Dora.” Remus said, stopping Nymphadora (or Tonks, as she preferred)
Tonks stopped, her dress was coming up and her lipstick was smeared. “Yes?” She asked.
“I cant do this.” He said, his voice breaking. “I love you but i’m not in love with you.” He told her, closing his eyes. Tonks leaned and kissed his nose softly.
“I know.” She said, her voice was sad but understanding. “Go get him.” She said.
Remus didn’t need to be told twice. As soon as he made sure Tonks was ok, he went outside and slipped into his car. The night was inky and the moon was waning.
He arrived at the shared house with christmas lights strung up all around. There were two cars in the driveway, and one motorbike. He recognized one car as James and the others as Sirius’s. He didn’t recognize the motorbike.
His thoughts started to control him. ‘Does he have a girlfriend now?’ He asked himself.
He didn’t move for awhile until the rain started falling. He told himself it was then or never. He walked stiffly up to the door and knocked once, twice. Sirius opened the door, his head turned back. He was smiling when he turned around but it dropped the moment he saw Remus.
“Remus.” He said, his voice breaking.
“Sirius.” Remus choked. “I’m sorry.” Remus didn’t really know what he was apologizing for. Leaving? Coming back?
“Remus.” Sirius said again, this time sounding on the verge of tears.
“I’m so sorry. Sirius, I’m sorry I left, I’m sorry I came back, and I’m sorry i’m intruding your time with your girlfriend but I-“ Remus started.
“Girlfriend?” Sirius asked.
“Yeah I saw the motorbike and I assumed-“ Remus said.
Sirius rolled his eyes and grumbled a few words that sounded like ‘bloody idiot’ before grabbing the front of Remus’s shirt and kissing him.
Remus kissed back. This was unlike a lot of their kisses. This was soft and warm despite the cold rain pattering on the sidewalk around them.
Sirius released him and swore. “You’re wet. Come in.”
The rest of the night they spent kissing, and watching movies, and whispering I love you’s in the dark.
and that’s the way i love you

Mad-Eye Moody - Wedding Planner
alright, this is freaking random but i just spent hours on a seating arrangment and now i need Wedding Planer!Moody in my life. EverybodyLives!AU: Andromeda grudgingly accepted her daughter marrying in secret. But now that the war is over Tonks and Remus better celebrate their wedding! Needless to say there are arguments, then discussions, then a lot of planning. Everyone gets involved. Molly offers to help with food, Andy shows a leadership skill that reminds to many ppl of her older sister, Sirius is having way to much fun with his best man speech and decorations. Incidentally, no one knows, on which side of the family he actually is. (Remus and Tonks think about grabbing Teddy and making a run for it more than once). Meanwhile: Moody is grouchy as hell, it's not like it's his wedding, Tonks is just his mentee. Then his magical eye swivels and lands on the guest list - and the former auror explodes into action: Who is doing the seating arrangement and what are they all thinking? Nobody stands a chance: Moody is on the case. Because "You don't want your guests to curse each other over cake by placing the wrong ones withhin duelling distance of each other". There is profiling happening, too many files and strategy meetings. The seating plan is a battlefied. Everbody is fondly rolling their eyes, Tonks is ribbing her mentor to hell and back but secretly touched. It's not until Andromeda and Sirius offhandly mention that deathly duels at family gatherings are a bit of a tradition that the rest of the planning comittee actually remembers to whom Dora is related ...

The concept of Remus and Tonks surviving the war and ending up having a second child delights me to no end, I’d love to hear your opinion on it
YES YES YES
I've said it thousands of times - they were taking a nap at the middle of the great Hall...they were new parents at that point, what else do u expect...!?!
They had a daughter and named her Hope, she looks like Tonks and she's a daddy's girl.
Nobody can change my mind 😤😤😤

What do you think of Tonks and Remus? Wrong answers only 😒. No really, I mean he was older than her and he didn’t seem to love her half as much as she loved him. What are your theories, canon-fitted and otherwise, on their relationship? Do you think he used her?
Oh, they're beards! Next question.
I appreciate the prompt, because you've handed me a shiny free pass to go on a rant I've been holding in since reading Half-Blood Prince. Taking my preferences aside, I don't think he used Tonks, although I think the age gap ads a really unnecessary layer of skeeze to their relationship. To be clear: I like Remus with Sirius, but I don't need them to end up together to be happy. I just don't see why it's Tonks. We don't see their natural chemistry; there's no scenes of banter, I don't know what she likes about him or vice versa. I do know that she's desperately in love with him after Order of the Phoenix, and he... isn't, honestly. Or at least, he doesn't act like he's in love with her. I'm not saying this just to shit on Remus and Tonks; I'm saying this because if I did ship Remus and Tonks, I would be mad as hell at how hard I got short shifted in Book 6! I would not have been fed! That is not a romance arc! Which makes me think, you know, okay, then why are we here? Why is it this woman, i Ask Thee, Remus Lupin, whom you have decided to marry, even though you frankly have more chemistry with Severus Snape? Or, to reframe from an authorial perspective: the HP world is wide open, someone from childhood could walk back into his life, or someone from another school, or you can introduce another Marauders-Era character, or you can just come up with someone from whole cloth — why is it Tonks?
But then I thought: Tonks is intriguingly similar to Sirius in several ways. She's a disgraced Black, she's charming and charismatic, she's a skilled fighter, she's a jokester, she's generally kind and doesn't take herself seriously, she's a shapeshifter. There's a line in OOTP that says she never made prefect because she didn't have "the temperament," which suggests she might've been a troublemaker (not hard to believe). As someone who ships him with Sirius, and believes that their relationship is at least a little bit coded romantic, that all reads like Something to me. But even for strictly canonical purposes, those similarities are still hard to ignore, especially since Tonks begins pursuing Remus in the same year as Sirius dies. So it's a handful of months after he watches his last childhood friend get murdered that Remus is deflecting her advances, meanwhile he's in the middle of fighting a war, meanwhile everyone in his life is pushing them to get together Because Love or whatever the fuck, @ Molly, @ McGonagall for some reason, and it's not hard to imagine that he just... gives in.
He's lonely, he's scared, and here's this person who reminds him of his friend and is willing to freely give him affection and care, and like... to be real? I don't think Remus believes he's going to live that long past Sirius's death, anyway. He's talking about giving Tonks children, but that's stuff he says to her when he's trying to deter her from pursuing him; when he talks about himself, he uses a lot of words like "damaged" and "broken" and "[not] whole." Added to the fact that the First and Second Wars are both very bloody and he's an active fighter in several notable battles; added to the fact that if he's caught, his lycanthropy means he's a target for killing, since taking a werewolf prisoner is the kind of smart move that begs to lose wars; added to the fact that he's been undercover with werewolves for part of this year, which, though we don't hear about it outright, is obviously a move to isolate himself from his friends and cannot do good things for his mental health; all these things point to him being in a Very Dark Place during HBP, and puts him in a headspace where he might marry Tonks essentially to make her happy, because he can always console himself that she'll end up a widow and be free to go live her life after the war.
Is that using her? Yeah, I guess, in that he's entering the relationship on slightly less sincere terms than she is, and I think what he's getting out of it is much more basic and unsentimental than what she's getting; but in his defense, Tonks has sort of marshaled the Order of the Phoenix behind her on this, and we also don't see that she altogether... cares if he's in it for her? He rejects her like, twice at minimum, and she keeps pushing, which is— like, girl, do you honestly want to be in a relationship with someone who's rejected you twice? Who you had to badger into giving you the time of day? Why? We don't know; she just wants him. Which, again, is a very 23-year-old thing to do: it's object-oriented, it's not based in compatibility or long-term happiness or even mutual affection. She's acting like someone who hasn't been in a relationship before. Which, by the way, SHE MIGHT NOT HAVE BEEN! SHE'S 23!!
Whether or not the Age Gap implies mistreatment, I don't really think it does; I mean, it is a Not Great Situation, and if I were Tonks's friend I would be yelling at her very loudly about why she should wait until her mid- to late-twenties to date someone that much older than her, if ever, but Tonks is an adult, both in our sense of the word and the Wizarding World's. The fact that Remus was already at Hogwarts when she was born is a skin-crawler, but ultimately not one accompanied by other evidence of mistreatment or manipulation on his part. This is helped by the fact that we never (ever! at all!) see Remus pursue or flirt with Tonks, or give her any encouragement, which means their relationship feels DOA for a lot of readers, but also means that the element of older-man-seduces-younger-woman is nowhere in their relationship. (I think it's WILDLY telling whenever the creep factor of a ship increases tenfold the moment you imagine the dynamics flipped, but that's my thing, whatever.)
(That being said, while I've been trying to humanize/rationalize Remus's decision, he's still responsible for it. He's a grown ass man, and whom he dates is his choice. It doesn't matter if Molly Weasley's being annoying about it. You're 35. Act like a grownup. Don't date 23-year-olds.)
Tonks is a much less thorny case, because she's younger, and the books are more sympathetic to her. Plus, I mean, seriously: if you're a freshly-minted college-age guerrilla soldier in a horribly traumatizing war, probably haven't been on a date in a while, you've Been Busy, and this hot grizzled 30-something with a reading habit and a sensitive side comes around and hangs out a lot and laughs at your jokes, then like — yeah! Girl, I get it!! I am on board with Tonks having a puppy crush on Remus, even though I think it does bad things to her character in HBP, because it could have been a springboard for all sorts of ruminating about age, and power, and "want you" vs. "want to be you," and the social allure of older men, with all the potential for manipulation that opens up. None of that was explored, but that's a problem of execution, not concept.
In conclusion, I like Tonks a lot, and I think she's a pretty realistic rendition of a young woman in her early twenties who, like all young twenty-somethings, is exercising her inalienable right to make stupid-ass decisions and fuck up her love life. I will defend her for that seven days a week. I will not, however, defend the authorial choice to make everyone in her life complicit in that bad decision.

an incomplete list of fun facts about the harry potter universe that only I know
Vernon Dursley is 17 years older than Petunia. She was his secretary. He became the Director of Grunnings by working his way up from Son of the Director of Grunnings.
Despite what certain films may lead you to believe, wixen robes resemble the unisex fashion of medieval robes. Trousers are not worn underneath.
Wixen society largely predates the concept of nations, which is why most schools of magic are regional rather than national.
Wands are a western system of control. Many regions and cultures don’t use them at all.
Remus Lupin is more aware and capable of wandless magic as a byproduct of lycanthropy. He learns to embrace his abilities between the two wars, but tries to keep the practice to himself around other wizards.
Remus Lupin’s favorite job (when he can get it) is working as a sessional instructor at muggle universities.
Remus Lupin’s dad calls him RJ.
The Evans family moved from West Belfast to Cokeworth in 1969 due to the Troubles. Petunia got rid of her accent and tried to assimilate. Lily did not.
Joining the Order isn’t as big a deal for Lily as others think it is. The threat of violence has always been a backdrop of her life. You still have to get on with it.
Crookshanks is not part kneazle. He is simply the best boy.
Dean Thomas’ father was Caradoc Dearborn, who disappeared before he knew his muggle girlfriend was pregnant.
Dean Thomas and Luna Lovegood date for a few years after the Second War before accepting that trauma bonding isn’t a stable basis for a relationship. They remain lifelong friends.
Peter Pettigrew was devastatingly witty and clever in his youth, though undiagnosed ADHD made schoolwork extremely difficult for him. Twelve years living as a rat wreaked havoc on his neural pathways, and the man who emerges after June 1994 is a pale shadow of his former self.
In school, Peter Pettigrew and Sirius Black were fast friends whose love language manifested in giving each other so much shit.
Ted Tonks is a seer. He doesn’t take it too seriously.
Andromeda Black was arrested at a muggleborn rights demonstration in the late 60s. Ted was assigned her public defender, or whatever the wixen equivalent of that is. He got her off with a slap on the wrist and then said yes when she asked him out for a drink.
Andromeda is an investigative journalist.
Tonks (the younger) is nonbinary.
The plot to bring Harry to Voldemort in 1994/95 could have been accomplished with a significantly less convoluted plan, however. One thing Voldemort and Barty Crouch, Jr. share is a passion for magical education. Barty always wanted to be a teacher, and it turns out he’s actually pretty good at it. Voldemort’s just really into the idea of slowly infiltrating the Hogwarts staff one by one right under Dumbledore’s nose.
Rubeus Hagrid is a trans woman, but never has the framework to realize it in those terms.
Teddy Lupin is a trans girl, and very much does.
(James and Harry Potter are desi, Hermione Granger is Black, and Sirius Black and Remus Lupin are in love. But everyone knows that.)

Day 20 of @remadoramicrofics - Party
Remus pulled the small jumper emblazoned with T over Teddy’s head. He could feel rather than see Dora’s presence in the doorway. “Better get your fill of him now,” she said, “I don’t think Molly will give him back until it’s time to floo home.”
Remus chuckled. “Well, I think we’ll manage, so long as she does give him back.”
Dora stood in the doorway with a bright pink jumper with a gray N on it. “If not, Mum will be at her door.”
Remus’s jumper was an olive green complimented with a tawny R.“You’re sure your mother doesn’t want to join us?”
Dora shook her head. “No, she said she’d pass.”
Remus nodded. “Are you ready?”
“I suppose,” she said, but Remus knew she was excited to see them all.
“Have you got the gift?” She showed it stowed under her arm. He followed her to the floo, Teddy tucked firmly into his side. As they stepped out into the Burrow’s living room, Remus brushed the ash off of himself and Teddy. The room was full of redheads and their friends, all wearing matching red jumpers adorned with yellow initials.
“Remus, Tonks!” came a familiar cry. Harry abandoned Ron to come greet them. “How has my Godson been?” he cooed as Remus passed Teddy off.
“Teething, so if he wails the whole time you hold him, don’t take it personally,” Dora laughed.
“He’d never!” Harry said as Teddy’s hair flashed black before returning to orange.
“How are classes going?”
Harry grinned up at him. “Just fine, professor.” Remus nodded with a smile as Harry made his way back to Ron and Ginny, showing Teddy off as if they hadn’t just seen them all at Hermione’s birthday.
“Lupin,” Bill greeted with a handshake and a firm clap on his back.
“Bill, good to see you, how have you and Fluer been?”
“Oh, can’t complain too much. Glad you brought the little guy, might keep Mum off of us for a night,” he said with a chuckle.
Remus laughed. “Might make it worse.”
“Impossible,” Fluer cooed from Bill’s side. Her jumper, unlike her husband’s, was a deep blue with a silver almost white F emblazoned on it.
Remus excused himself as he tailed Dora to the kitchen. He found her standing at the stove, watching Molly intently. “Happy birthday, Molly,” he greeted as they joined them.
“Thank you, dear,” she said almost as an afterthought.
“You’re sure I can’t help?” Tonks asked.
“Absolutely positive, dear,” Molly said with a glance at his wife. She had many talents, but none of them involved a kitchen.
Remus came to stand beside her, wrapping an arm around her waist. “And where is little Teddy?” Molly asked him when she saw him.
“I’m afraid Harry beat you to him.”
Dora nodded. “We were barely out the floo when he snatched him up.”
“Better be careful,” Arthur commented from his place at the table, “the poor boy may ever learn to walk if these two keep it up.”
Suddenly, the twins came bounding downstairs. “Oi,” George – at least, he assumed it was George, since there was aG on his jumper, but you couldn’t ever be sure – said, “good to see you, Professor and Mrs. Professor.”
“Lovely,” Fred – or so he thought – said as they hurried past.
“And just what do you think they’re up to?” Dora asked him.
“Their best behavior,” Arthur said in a stern voice.
Remus laughed, knowing that simply wouldn’t be the case; it wouldn’t have been for him and James. Dora felt the same, he could tell by the twinkle in her eyes as she smiled up at him. “Think you’ll join in?”
He shook his head. “I’ve been reformed.”
“Oh, is that so?”
“I solemnly swear,” Remus said with a wide grin.
Dora laughed as they headed back to greet the rest of the party guests. She squeezed him close as they said their hellos as if showing him off to the crowd. Or maybe he was showing her off.
Fred and George caught his eye, flashing quick grins before heading back upstairs. Whatever they were up to, Remus hoped it would be easily reversed. Although, a prank gone wrong would certainly make for a good excuse to kip home. He was endlessly grateful for Molly and Arthur, and the sense of having a family again was a luxury Remus had never thought he’d receive, but the parties did have a tendency to tip towards overwhelming with the flurry of faces and good wishes. Sometimes, it made him long for cozy evenings on the couch with Dora. Still, there was a certain warmth in his chest that was undeniable as he greeted the rest of the Weasley family and their friends.

11 & Remadora for the kiss ask please 😊
Thank you anon for the ask! Remadora, ‘We’re actually being kind of silly for once’ kiss.
...
Tonks hears him grumbling from the other side of the bathroom door.
"This is bloody ridiculous, Dora."
"You promised, Remus."
"I didn't agree to this."
"You said you'd wear it."
Teddy is in his basket, looking adorable as a plump strawberry. Tonks isn't going to let Remus spoil the fun.
"If you wear it, you can have all the best chocolate," she says. "And tonight we'll have extra special mummy and daddy time."
There's silence on the other side of the door.
"Your daddy is easily convinced, Teddy," she tells her son, whose orange hair clashes with his costume, but she doesn't care.
"I heard that," Remus grumbles, but when the door is open and he's wearing the fake, furry ears and giant, harmless paws, she bursts into laughter.
"I'm taking this off--"
"No, you're not," she says, grabbing him by the jumper. She sets the basket holding Teddy down and presses a kiss to his lips. "We're being silly and fun. Little Red Riding Hood is a fabulous family costume."
"For you," he mutters.
She grazes her hand over his trousers. "I'll let the big, bad wolf take me later, but for now--we've got sweets to collect!"
Remus looks down at Teddy, then back at Tonks, and rolls his eyes.
She's got him again.

Harry asks Sirius for girl advice and all Sirius can think about is his only real interactions were with Lily and their friends (memories severely degraded by Dementors as they were happy memories), his batshit relatives and the House of Black interactions should probably be studied by psychologists so all that would really do is scar the poor kid, some old schoolmates but the longest one he ever had (excluding accidentally killing that one kid but it’s not like student safety has ever been a concern at that school) was with that girl he was partnered with in Transfiguration way back when and he’s 78% certain that he read about her and her family being murdered by Death Eaters in the First War so he sure can’t write her for advice, and the female Death Eaters he was dueling but Sirius very sadly thinks that he’s pretty sure Harry’s not asking for fighting advice. Sirius is out of his depth here and sends Harry off to some Order members who feel attraction
He sends Harry to Remus first to help with the boy problems, and since Remus is extremely gay he is able to offer some advice, but then he sends Harry to Kingsley because Harry is a disaster bi just like his dad and so is Kingsley. Harry gets the advice he'd been looking for and ends up married to Luna 10 years later (because we do NOT marry our high school sweethearts in this household no sir) and give Sirius 3 grandkids the end.
