So I just made a post with Regulus and Lily friendship hcs and it gave me ideas for a regulily arc.

I don't usually ship Reg x Lily, even in Jegulily I usually don't see them dating, just sharing James. HOWEVER!

Bookworms turned friends. They start talking about James and how unhinged he is. Laughing about his confessions towards the red head. But Lily is pretty sure that Reg has a crush on her suitor. And she has a feeling that James hasn't been looking at just her... Perhaps Potter's heart beats for two people.

So here are some options.

Having gotten close very fast, and feeling quite at ease with each other, Regulus and Lily become the couple no one was expecting. James didn't know what to make of it. Was it heartbreaking or somewhat intriguing and perhaps hot? They eventually invite James to their relationship, upon realising they all have feelings involved - Regulily to Jegulily arc

Lily tells her friend Reg about her suspicions towards James developing a crush on him and they decide to prank Potter by pretending to date and see his reaction - fake dating to jegulus arc

People (James included) think they're dating, from the time they spend together and how Regulus treats her like a princess. However, he's actually just acting the way he was taught, polite and like a gentleman with his female friend. Dorcas is much too indelicate to be offered such manners (they enjoy bickering) and Pandora is more like a sister. So he really only acts like that towards Lily - probably Jegulus (James makes a move once he finds out they're not dating) to mutual confused feelings towards Lily to Jegulily

Lily, after James asked her out for the sixth time that day: I'm giving up on men.

Mary: *not even looking up* Sure you are.

Lily: I mean it, I will never look at a guy...

*Regulus walks past*

Marlene: Damn not even ten seconds this time.

James told himself he couldn't pine away again. He can't do it. He's already done that with Lily once and it was the most painfully beautiful moments of his life. He can't go through that heartbreak again, especially not twice. He won't do it. But Lily and Regulus are discussing a book over a table and everytime Regulus looks away Lily throws small crumpled paper pieces into his hair, and everytime she suceeds she looks towards James to make sure he's aware of the game she's playing, and when Lily turns away to crumple more paper Regulus meets James eyes to affirm, Regulus is fully aware what's going on. He's just letting it happen. For her.

James doesn't know what to do with that knowledge. He cannot go through that sort of pining heartbreak again. He's going to do it anyways. How could he ever look at these two and not completly fall to his knees at their command. They don't even know it, such a simple act as Lily being herself and Regulus entretaining her gets his heart spinning. They're adorable, he' s not gonna get any studying done. Oh please let someone save him.

James Potter had always been a lover. He was full of love and could not help but let his heart beat for two different people. He would catch himself stealing glimpses at them whenever they walked through the passageways. One was always surrounded by friends, laughing and occasionally flashing a smile his way. The other walked alone, books clutched tightly in their grasp, their expression always stern and their gaze unfaltering whenever it met his.

James knew that it was wrong to love two people at the same time, but his heart was too big to contain all the love he felt. He couldn't command his heart, and it seemed that it wanted to love two people romantically at the same time.

But what if those two people loved him back? Surely, it would be a happy ending, right? Unfortunately, that was not the case. Lily Evans was willing to marry him, but Regulus Black was unable to take that step due to a certain reason and a task he must undertake. James didn't know what that reason was, but he knew that it was causing Regulus fear.

And yet, Regulus was willing to sacrifice his own love for them just to ensure their happiness. He made the difficult decision to Obliviate Lily and James, erasing their memories of ever loving a man named Regulus Black.

Regulus's love was pure and selfless. All he wanted was to see the sun shine so brightly and the flowers bloom so beautifully for the future he had envisioned for them. And he was willing to do whatever it took to make that a reality, even if it meant erasing himself from their memories.
