Tumblr media

What y'all need to understand is that as someone who's faced addiction and addictive personality tendencies their whole life, depression is an addiction.
Depression is an addicton, one your brain supplies by reinforcing the states of apathy and despair through endorphins and punishing movement outside of those times by associating them with pain or even removing them entirely through memory loss/fog.
A good majority of the times when I was depressed, I had happy moments. I wasn't faking happiness, I genuinely experienced it, but because I was depressed, I didn't believe I had afterwards, only remembered the poor parts. But I really had. And part of my recovery from depression was acknowledging and accounting for the happiness.
I was severely depressed for upwards of 8 years. 13 if you count before high school. You can get through it. It just takes a reframing sometimes, and not the type that therapists love so much (honestly, fuck CBT). Somatic shit helps so much, going out and experiencing sensations and observing them without judgement of anything in the moment.
You don't battle depression as if it is a mood. You battle it as if it is an addiction. It will try to pull you in, it will feel familiar and comforting and safe from the raw pain that life appears as, but all of that is a lie, just like pills or the bottle or goddamn sugar.
Rawness is not the same as pain, and pain is not always bad. It is to better to feel than to be numb, and soon you will grow accustomed to the feeling. And once you do, you remember how to breathe.

One of the worst feelings of addiction is when your stuck in between it & sobriety.
One day you wake up & realize I've been trying to quit for years. Where did the time go? What could've I accomplished or even prevented?
You tell yourself all that matters is tomorrow's attempt but all it does is turn into yesterday's mistakes.
I don't wanna be another kid who overdoses before they get the chance to experience true recovery & I hope you don't either

Welcome✨
Decided to use Tumblr as an outlet. Public diary/journal you could say. To share my stories to those who relate, or are going through what I went through or currently facing.
To document my life as I rebuild, start over, reinvent or whatever you want to call it.
From someone who spent her whole life living in the image of what everyone wanted her to be. From someone who has a million lables attached to her.
From someone who lost herself long ago, trying to reconnect with her truest self.
If you come across this blog, know this is a safe place. Full of love and light. Everyone is welcome, and I appreciate all who come along for the ride❤️

Uh, so I totally went and bought some girl last night, cute some straws for me and my boyfriend. Had the mirror ready. And I couldn’t stop thinking about how all the trust I’ve earned would be wasted on an all nighter that would have made me feel like shit after anyway. I had a breakdown and tossed it. I can’t believe how much willpower it took. I’m so grateful I didn’t fall back into the shit hole that is Cocaine.

All I gotta say is f*ck addictions man.
• I wish there was a support page or something for spouses of people who are going through recovery, or who have an addiction.
• Not saying it’s as hard as the person trying to get sober, but is also really fucking hard. It’s hard to watch the person you love go through the withdrawals, or the pains and aches.
• It’s hard to watch them have to try and try everyday just to have a “normal” life again. It’s hard to see them suffer, and just watch them struggle, and feel so helpless.
• I wish I knew what to do help, what to do to makes things better or easier. I just wish I knew what to do.
•I just feel so fucking lost, and confused. Life is just so damn shitty sometimes.
So if anyone knows of any groups or pages or ANYTHING. Let ya girl know. I just want him to succeed and be the best fucking man, like I know he can be.

Its so hard to be a recovering addict. I Am so happy of my progress that I have made over the past 5 months. However, I am so down, and feel so so alone. while I'm not alone at all, I just feel that way. I want to find the energy to clean and do my projects so I can make money doing what I really love. Making my furniture. Making my house a home for my family. Why? Why can't I  just get up and do it???? I am so over bartending. I want to be a happier me and make my family(who are happy) a lot happier by being a good mother and wife. Sure I can stop crying, or whining over what I'm not doing and get up and do it, thats a lot easier said than done. But Ima try and Ima do it. Here’s to hoping. Here’s to doing. Anyone interested on embracing and taking on this journey with me?

Today is my two year clean date. I clawed my way to this point but I made it. I fucking made it. I was only 40 days clean when Carl was killed and I wanted to use so bad. I stayed clean for him in he beginning I told myself if I got high his death would be in vain even when I knew it wasn’t true. Even if I would have gotten high it wouldn’t have taken away anything he did. Last August I lost the woman I considered a second mother; my grandma. It made me question why I was still clean. I drank a lot in the months before she died and I admit that wasn’t a good thing. When it became an issue I stopped. But it will never replace the feeling of being high. At her funeral all I wanted was that high. But I knew better. And last month I found out the one person in this world I should have been able to trust hurt me when I could not consent. I had every right to start using but I didn’t. So go me. Here’s to many years to come

Help.
My husband is an addict. He is using meth and heroine. Bit by bit he is losing pieces of himself. I guess I will give some background to my story before asking for advice on how to help him. First off I was raised by two meth addicts. minor but important detail. Continuing, We have been together for 9 years next month and married for two in July. He lost his mother to lung cancer in February of 2014. She was everything to him. For a year he was very sad and detached. Which i knew was a part of grief(as well as anger and bargaining) I was there. I was a shoulder to cry on. I was an ear to vent to and hear him through and through.I read books on grief, (for him and myself. I loved his mother very very much) and I tried to do things for him that I knew would be hard for me to do if I were to have lost someone that dear to me. But after that year something changed. Detachment became distance. And sadness turned to anger. Not just anger but pure rage. I should have seen what these antics and behavioral patterns were but I didn't realise till two years later when I found his pipe and stash. I decided to confront him about it instead of just leaving like I told him I would if I ever found out he was living that lifestyle. I can't actually remember the conversation. I know I told him he needed to find help because that stuff isn't the answer. I knew it was to pull himself out of depression about his mom. I think i gave him an ultimatum and time limit (for the drug not his grief). Which wasn't helpful to someone so rebellious. But then the time limit stretched and ultimatums changed then here we are over a year later and he has also picked up heroine. We had gotten into an argument in January that had resulted multiple things. Results include me asking him to leave, then two days later my sister making an attempt to take her own life then 3 days after that me getting fired for being with my sister in the hospital. Its been a constant battle to try and keep a level head and keep communication to show him I am not abandoning him but that I need to get my shit together and not allow drugs into my home anymore. (He had gotten my sister high for the first time in her life and that was part of the argument). 4 days ago on march 2nd the place he was staying caught fire. He lost everything. So I of course had him stay with me. He said that he wanted to begin the road to recovery and that he had realised he was constantly pushing the people who love him away. I was overcome with joy but was careful not to show it and just give comfort and tell him I was proud he was making that decision and that I would help him in any way I could. Today I brought up recovery and was told that I was a stupid cunt and he looked me in the eye and said he hated me. So that's actually a long story short....but i don't know what to do. My life is so toxic right now and I have everyone telling me to just cut him out but I want to help him! Please. How do I help him.....
