( altersex poll intersex anon who had all the links ) yeah I agree with you 100% on that, I just thought I’d explain since I rarely see people talk about the direct origins of Altersex as a term and that stuff interests me.

I like the other anon’s idea of using Demisex for partially sexed, I don’t think it’s a “bad” term but it was unfitting as an umbrella term. I hope the community can reclaim and properly coin some of SpottyJaguar’s suggestions for Altersex subterms since they’re honestly pretty cool. I don’t think deserve to be tied to a perisex person who polices the slurs intersex people choose to reclaim. Some like Bisex I’ve already seen around! I saw this chart somewhere before and I think some people could benefit from a more concise explanation of some of the sexualities that involve multiple genders. I’m going to explain the chart below so it’s easier to read.

Bisexuality is someone who is attracted to more than one gender, but not necessarily all genders, and find masculinity/femininity/androgyny attractive in different ways.

Polysexuality is someone who is attracted to more than one gender, but not necessarily all genders, and are more attracted to the person than their gender.

Pansexuality is someone who is attracted to more than one gender, they find all genders attractive, and are more attracted to the person than their gender.

Omnisexuality is someone who is attracted to more than one gender, they find all genders attractive, but they find masculinity/femininity/androgyny attractive in different ways.

I didn’t even know about polysex and Omni before seeing this chart. It really help me better understand the type of romantic attraction I have for others. Thought it might help others too.

No, it doesn’t make me uncomfortable!! Actually this is a kinda cool ask cuz it’s an interesting topic to ponder over myself.

So. As an allosexual aromatic (and also a virgin atm, that should be important to mention. If anyone virgin shames me I will cut off your head), sex doesn’t mean a whole lot to me in a romance. They are not mutually exclusive to me, probably because to my knowledge, I don’t feel romantic attraction. Sex would be more of a pleasure thing I would do with people I cared for, but not necessarily dating?

That being said, I would LOVE a romantic relationship. This is my personal opinion, every aro is different. If someone had a crush on me and I cared for them, like a best friend, and I really enjoyed their presence, I would be totally down to date them. I just don’t get crushes. I would tell them ofc my feelings but if they are ok with that, because I would love them, we could have a relationship. But to me, any dating situation would feel the same as best friends to benefits. Maybe that’s how everyone feels idk??

90% of this discourse is because a lot of y'all don't have actual real life experience with the LGBTQ community or much in general. So of course the TERF originating backlash against queer/ace/trans/polysex communities looks attractive due to those communities becoming more accepted/visible and that chaps your assholes. You just think you can compartmentalize it away from TERFs and general reactionaries. I beg of you, get some fucking air. Go to a pride event that's not hypothetical. Real and not imagined.
