I feel this in my soul, but not just for stuff I enjoy (although definitely that too, Alan Wake lore is VERY hard to talk about to someone who doesn’t play Remedy’s games, the Finnish r too deranged lol)
The issue is compounded when it’s lore and stories for something YOU wrote.

Sketch page of character designs based on Deep-Sea Creatures 🐠🦈
For me, the deep ocean has been a fascinating topic since I was a kid, so I guess something like this was inevitable. Of course, they usually aren’t the prettiest thing in the animal kingdom, but I still wanted to try and make semi-appealing character designs while staying faithful to the actual appearance of the animals themselves
This was inspired by a post from Twitter user @.Splinterbee, so please go have a look at their art as well.
I think my favourite overall design would be Kato the Loosejaw. It was an interesting animal to attempt to anthropomorphize, as its bottom jaw has no floor and its head is basically only held on by its spine and a couple ligaments, meaning that it wouldn’t have a proper neck. I think I did a good job working around that, and in general, I’ve really grown to like Kato ❤️
Zaynab (wolftrap anglerfish), Mariposa (isopod), Chiharu (koi), Cristobal (yeti crab), Bulana (chimaera), Bao (salmon - the gang’s new addition), Aaliyah (goblin shark), Kato (stoplight loosejaw), Yannick (black dragonfish), Guðmundur (oarfish), Yūrei (barreleye), Nikolski (gulper eel), Kadin (tripod spiderfish)
This lot are the main cast of a story/game I am writing, about an impoverished city in the deepest plains of the ocean plagued by a curse of undeath and despair. Brought together by circumstance, this gang of downtrodden misfits hunt down the source of this misery.
(I thought I’d posted this here already, apparently I didn’t, and my previous post w/ these characters got a slew of engagement recently, so I figured would be better than any to correct that)
