Akatsuki no Yona chapter 245: It Has Begun

It definitely looks like something has begun!…could it be..the *whispers* P-prophecy

Anyway this chapter is a damn emotional rollercoaster.

So at this point in the chapter I’m already depressed. Kija is weak and can’t sense the others like before. They are comparing it to that first time they found the other dragons to now. It’s those parallels again…and this is the dark version.

Anyway I thank Kusanagi for this small bit of humor

What a way for them to find out about your wife and kid, Hak! 😂

…and then we get the crazy dream with Zeno holding the chalice with ominous words and the ominous Jaeha looking like he can barely hold his form. Literally. Wtf is happening. It has begun.

Looks like one of the dragons found them instead. What is happening. (Definitely going to speculate more in another post) Where are the other 2 😱 Also I’m depressed again.

33 and 34's Admin is Download, a relatively new Admin that the council felt held promise. Most of the main group isn't really convinced, considering they know just how intense dealing with the SMG universes can be. It says a lot about how they see someone's chances when Cursor says something about the situation and is only scolded for being rude about it instead of bitch-slapped across the room for talking out of her ass.

Though, nobody's as worried about Download possibly crashing and burning as Download herself. She's well aware that she was thrust into this extremely important position way too soon, and that her new coworkers are apprehensive at best about dealing with her. It doesn't help that she's a very talkative person, to the point that she's often been called annoying in the past, and all the nervous energy is manifesting as a flood of nonstop chatter that would get on even the most stoic Program's nerves.

Still, she's not going to let all that stop her. She's bound and determined to complete this assignment to its fullest and give her Guardians the best shot she possibly can. And despite everything, she does it! Everything in her SMG Mod package is fully tested ready to go right on time, despite everyone's expectations (including her own), and once all the preparations are made she launches the program.

That's about when her console starts electrocuting her.

Next thing she knows, she's waking up in the infirmary with Vitality and Lag standing over her, and a terrible pain in her chest and throat. Turns out there's good news and bad news.

The good news is, while the merging of Sally's universe and the Diamind universe shouldn't have happened in the first place, they've integrated almost seamlessly, and they know from the Arles that the split Avatar setup, while slightly unstable, is sustainable long-term, even if one of the Avatars happens to go rogue. And the SMGs are both perfectly fine and their programming is fully functional. 33 did admittedly land near Cole instead of in the Internet Graveyard like she was supposed to (34 ended up near Sally. Thought it would be neat if they each landed near the Avatar that the other one is a recolor of), but again, her programing is fully functional so she'll definitely go there at some point. They don't have another SMG3 on their hands, thank god.

The bad news is about Download herself. The power surge that was created by the merge ended up grounding into her, causing her to take the full brunt of it all at once and severely damaging her code. If she were a character-level program that much electricity would've killed her outright. As it is, Vitality did what she could to repair the worst of the damage, but nearly everything to do with audio output is straight-up gone.

The pain she's feeling will eventually subside, barring any wireframe scars that may develop, but she'll never speak again.

I tried to write something to sum up my thoughts on this, but then it got longer and longer and tbh I'm itching to write a fic set in this AU djjdkf I think I could develop on their inner feelings more than in the comic form

Before posting the first part I didn't realize people had such strong opinions on how this would play out lmaooo

imo, of course Zoro wants to fight Sanji, not with actual intent to harm (they threaten each other on the daily, come on), but because that's how they are together, how they communicate. He respects Luffy's decisions and their goal here, which is to learn what's really going on with Sanji, but he's gonna be pissy about it all he wants. They both have so many intense and conflicted feelings about this and neither has any idea how to resolve them. So they fight.

I know we like writing fics where Jason is all "I'm not the kid you lost" and "he died and I'm all the worst parts of him that came back" and whatever. but lately I've been thinking about a Jason that's angry bc everyone thinks he came back wrong, because to him, he's the same as he's always been. sure, he's more upset and angry and traumatized, but he's still Jason.

I've been thinking about a Jason that spent most of the time since his death underground and then catatonic. to him, hardly any time has passed at all. to his family, three years have gone by. and Jason knows he looks different than he did, and he knows he's sharper around the edges, now, but he's still Jason. he's the same kid that died and now he's back and why doesn't anyone see that?

it’s a terrible affliction, isn’t it? the guilt I can’t absolve you of, however much I wish I could

notes:

-the inspiration for this piece was the concept of guilt as poison, represented as the cigarette (physical) and the gun (mental)

-the cigarette is pretty self-explanatory as a poison. I see it as a form of punishment he inflicts on himself--it's killing him but he pushes onward anyway

(-even if the regenerative drug's effects extend to healing damage caused by chemicals, there's still weight to the act of willingly putting poison into his system. either way it's not enough self-sabotage to stop wolfwood from fighting for the orphanage, but it's enough to make him feel something)

-the gun is, of course, about his role as an assassin: how he justifies the act of killing, and how he deems it necessary, but laments what he's become at times

-vash understands very well that wolfwood carries his own heavy burden in silence, but still wants to ease the pain

-so here he's asking wolfwood to leave it to him, to allow himself some reprieve, by taking the cigarette and gently lowering the gun

-vash's plant powers are supposed to represent a "blessed antidote" to suppress the "cursed poison", which is why it has glowing blue-green (associated with healing) lines in contrast to the purple smoke (associated with poison)

-in other words: "if I fight in your stead will that lessen your suffering?" (no lol)

-these colors are also the highlights on their respective earrings

-consider the caption to be the last part of the piece: where vash admits his attempt at helping wolfwood isn't a permanent solution, but it doesn't stop him from trying anyway

I can't feel anything that happens in the game. Remember?" with a smile. Some time later, Gordon is firing at combine, stalkers, and manhacks in City 17. Bullets fly by him as he yells behind him: "Don't worry about me, I can't feel it! Just run!" Gordon is a little scuffed on his face.
