so i was talking to my dad (who is an absolute history/literature/mythology/all the other interesting things nerd) and we were talking about how the gods in greek mythology (and lots of other mythologies) are not seen as good like how christianity views god. instead humans fear and appease the gods in fear of them doing bad things or causing harm because gods only act on there nature, they have no ability to change, whereas humans are changeable and can act against nature. he [my dad] described the gods as "the unmoved movers". so having the ability to change reality, having the power to change the world around them but only if it is in there nature to do so. the gods were made incredibly flawed unlike the perspective of god in christianity who is completely perfect. humans have the ability to be good. gods can only act in accordance to who they are supposed to be without any chance of changing.

This new Interpretation of Medusa in the new episode of Percy jackson, as a survivor of abuse that directs her pain, because of missing justice, against people that she associates with her abusers, shows not only how much Rick Riordan has grown as a storyteller and interpreter of mythology but also how much we as a community have grown in interpreting and understanding the deeper meaning of mythological storys and the context they were made in.

You think about it so little you don't even realize that an actual Greek person has to read this shit, making it clear how little you actually care about the culture beyond the romanticized (and westernized) mythology.
