Weeks go by and you keep your options super open, with the occasional run-in with Yoongi and the strangely refreshing dates with Namjoon.

As much as you want things to move forward with the latter, he’s kept every meet-up early and short, always checking his phone with pure concentration before heading out.

Did you think about whether or not he had a girl already? Absolutely. But just being able to have nice dinners and talk was pretty fucking harmless considering.

If he finally decides to cave in and split you in two, maybe you’ll re-evaluate. But you hope that happens sooner rather than later because you are aching to feel anything he’d give you.

That and the frustrating fact that he looks more and more attractive with every damn date.

Speaking of attractive things…

One dingy, smoke-filled event on south side, just as you were cussing someone out for slapping your ass, it was Yoongi that shocked you by stepping in, quietly shielding you and taunting,

“You wanna try that again?”

“Fuck outta here, man. Just having a good time.”

When your surprise of a savior aims one slitted eye over his shoulder, he asks,

“You having fun?”

And your arms fold in calm revenge. “Not with him.”

“Didn’t think so.” Turning back around, Yoongi simply eases, “I’ll let you off this time, but only cus she’s listening.”

Your blink is immediate.

“But I better not see your sorry ass anywhere near her by the time I get on stage.”

Safe to say, it didn’t matter if he saw that guy or not.

Because he definitely saw you after the show, right before you tugged his stupid tracksuit into the nearest bathroom.

Ever since the first, all your dates with Namjoon have been innocent.

So it sends shivers across your arms when low words slip into your ear. Words so spiced that they cause your thighs to squirm on the cheap vinyl booth you both occupy,

“I gotta say… I didn’t expect us to talk this much.”

Breath hitching, you slowly turn, fixated on the veins running down his arms while admiring the way neon lights make rainbows of his chains. Not giving much of your own thoughts away, you simply ask,

“This time? Or at all?”

“Honestly?” His smile coats you in a layer of warmth. Which is strange considering how frozen you really feel. “I don’t usually do dates.”

What?

You’ve never moved away so quick. “Wait, really?”

“Oh, shit. Was that bad to say?”

“No, I”—pure relief juts out of your mouth—“Neither do I.”

“No fuckin’ way,” Namjoon challenges with a grin, shaking his head when you nod multiple times. “Nah. You can’t tell me your fine ass has never gone out before.”

“First of all,” you tut, smirking at his true nature coming through, “This ass has been taken out more times than yours.”

“Oh, yeah?”

“Mmhmm.” Flipping your head, you give him a mocking once-over, feigning boredom even though you wanna mount those goddamn thighs and ride them into next Wednesday. “I just don’t waste my time dating.”

“Then why’d you keep coming?”

“Why’d you keep asking?”

At your coy tone, Namjoon’s smile grows and grows, and you’re enjoying where this is going an obscene, frightening amount.

Instead of responding, he simply lifts an arm to skirt knuckles right up the front of your dress, finally looping one under the necklace dangling from your neck. When he presses a bold thumb down, you cease breathing as he softly tugs forward, your entire body following without resistance.

And just as your lips hover against his, he challenges,

“Cus if I asked you anything else, you would’ve ran.”

Oh, fuck.

Butterflies scatter at his insinuation, and they fall victim to his honeyed smirk when you taunt,

“Try me.”

What the hell is he gonna say? Based on your earlier conversations, you could tell he has a way with words. You don’t have to spell a single thing out for him, that’s for damn sure.

The look you get is pure sin before he moves to your ear, his mouth hidden from the rest of the bar and hot breath stroking your neck. Anticipation keeps your body fully alert, and yet it still doesn’t prepare you for whatever comes out of this dude’s mouth.

“Like if you’d ever let me paint those tits.”

The fuck.

“Or if you’d let me be the first to make you squirt.”

The fuck?

Your exhale comes out stilted before stuttering out, and your chest physically heaves because—

“What, that’s all it takes to make you shy?”

Holy shit. You haven’t felt this way in years.

Truthfully, you can’t even think up an inkling of a response.

Because the hand on your necklace slides downward, a finger lowering your dress bit. By bit. By bit.

Before letting it spring back with a snap.

a/n: Someone (@kokosg) wanted to chose violence yesterday, so I had to retaliate. Here's a little sneak peak of Blackthorn!Namjoon during the modern era. Also, Namjoon's outfit is shared at the bottom, if you would like to see what mans is working with now.

The modern day version of Blackthorn hasn't been started yet. I am still working on the Min dynasty half of Blackthorn. If you haven't read it, please do! Yoongi is a prince and Agust is his dragon spirit!

Series Masterlist | Masterlist

The sign out front read Kim’s Flowers & Apothecary. The store itself was right out of a novel, a building that stood out on the street. The building was massive, built in an earlier time that had seen better days. The stone was darkened by rain water and time while the wooden door jam, windows and pillars were a deep oak with details painted in gold. It was a building that normal folk stirred clear of while those who still dabbled in magic eagerly seeked out. Plants and bottles of all shapes and sizes took up space in the large glass windows, to quip the interests of those who passed by.

Through the doorway, the room gave way to vine covered walls and an open glass ceiling that turned the inside to a grand solarium of sorts. It was magical with floating lanterns, inlaid bookshelves stacked to capacity with long forgotten text and scrolls; and cabinets filled with glass jars of Atropa belladonna, Verbena officinalis and more. The tiled floors were a lighter color to offset the darkness from the plants and blurred the reflection from the lanterns, creating a subtle glow from overhead and down below.

There is a hallway decorated in cream and green vintage wallpaper and wainscoted walls that leads to the garden; a large outdoor space with a greenhouse attached farther down the yard, past the miniature maze that was built for fun. Within the green hedges, Namjoon keeps a relic from a past life at the center of the maze. Surrounded by a magic halo, a large blackthorn tree sways gently in the breeze. Its trunk is wide and strong, showing its scares of the past to anyone who will look. A story that Namjoon will always recall whenever it rains.

Back inside a large oak cashwrap separates guests from accessing the more lethal ingredients that are kept behind an emerald velvet curtain in the backroom. A spiral staircase hidden in the back room that led to the upstairs where Namjoon and his partner resided after a long day's work. The homely apartment above is much more updated than down below.

The floor is tiled all throughout in soft grays, beiges and creams while the wooden furniture throughout is a deep purple with hints of lighter colors. The kitchen is large, the counter cabinets all a matching purple with lighter wooden butcher block countertops. There are floating shelves built into the walls, cluttered with plants and nick nacks from all throughout time.

The rest of the home is built much the same, softer tones brighten up the darkness of the purple and pull a renewed warmth into the atmosphere. The bedroom is the only difference, the walls were hand painted by Namjoon’s lover, Jeon Jungkook. Different shades of blue and pinks come together in a colorful and serene abstract mosaic that brightens the whole room on an accent wall. That same wall is where the bed is pushed up against with thick purple and blue bedding. Gold accents are littered through the room and bed, creating a galaxy like ambience.

Down stairs, Namjoon waters the flowers. A thick vine hovering nearby in case the warlock drops the watering can. Namjoon has changed through the years and yet stayed the same. His blue hair is now a striking blond and cut short, tapered close to his scalp on the sides and long around the top of his head. His skin is still dusted in a warm caramel from his time in the sun and his body has grown stronger, larger. The hanfu and hanbok of the Joseon dynasty have been updated to match the modern times, but are worn only when Namjoon is meeting with friends of his past. Namjoon now wears colorful capes, velvet robes, double breasted overcoats that have elaborate embroidery on them with simple slacks that match whatever color he wears.

Today he wears an all black double breasted suit and a black button up with a silk tie that he didn’t bother to fasten fully looped loosely around his neck. He has somewhere to be in an hour, so his long black overcoat is hanging on the hook by the garden door, with black and gold thread embroidery that swirls to create an illusion of a tiger and flowers. Namjoon speaks softly to the plants, his black shoes moving carefully as avoids stepping on any little critters that have made a home of his garden.

The door to the garden is ripped open and Namjoon jumps, his hand losing on the watercan as a green and white blur rushes at him. The vine is quick to catch the falling can but not fast enough to save Namjoon from tumbling a few steps backwards.

“Kook? What’s wrong, love?”

Namjoon’s arms wrap around his lover’s waist without a second thought, moving without his mind even telling them to. In his arms, with his face smashed into Namjoon’s face, Jungkook cries. His tears soak through the fabric of Namjoon’s shirt, the blond of his hair, tickling under Namjoon’s cheek as he rocks from side to side.

“H-Hyung!” Jungkook hiccups as he pulls his face away from Namjoon’s chest, his green triangle ears flicker around on his head as he stares at Namjoon with big, teary doe eyes. “H-Hyung….s-she’s here! She’s here!!”

His eyes trail over the other patrons, everyone absorbed in their own worlds and conversations. The table he eyes quickly gets taken while he collects his iced Americano and he sighs softly, despite the amount of people in, he doesn’t want to leave yet, and the only available spot to sit comes with another person. Namjoon weighs his options. He could go outside, find a little park to sit in and drink his coffee, or he could risk it here, where someone has yet to pay him any mind. It’s been so long since he’s been able to walk freely, he knows he’ll miss it when he goes back through the front door.

So, with cautious steps, he walks over to the table with the only available seat.

“Excuse me...” Namjoon softly calls, briefly contemplating on tapping your shoulder; you’re reading a book, and he knows well how easily one can get lost in those. You look up though, the tiny furrow between your brows gives way to your confusion, as well as the little humming sound you make. “Sorry...do you mind if I...”

Namjoon motions to the chair across from you, and you look at it and then back to him for a few seconds before realization blooms in your eyes.

“Oh! No, of course...just...go ahead.” Your smile is pretty, Namjoon notes, and he realizes, as he thanks you and sits, that you recognise him. You stare at him in a knowing kind of way, and before Namjoon can up and leave, you simply smile the way you had before, as though he was any other stranger wanting to share your table. He watches with bated breath, trying to stay calm just in case, and you just go back to reading your book.

There’s no fanfare, no freaking out and drawing attention, or asking for a photo and too invasive questions. You don’t even look at him again. The sound of you flipping the pages of your book melds into the background noise of the space, and Namjoon finds it strange. He thanks his stars, though, he’s not about to look a gift horse in the mouth and risk losing his head.

“Can I... Is it okay if I ask for your number?” The words come tumbling out of his mouth before he can reel them in, and he’s standing there a little mortified. Namjoon always prides himself in being self-assured, but that same self-assurance leads him to putting his foot in his mouth sometimes and he says things without thinking first. It’s too late to pull the words back or act like he hadn’t asked because you’re blinking up at him, sitting a little straighter now in your seat.

You glance around, brows furrowed, “Are...are you sure?”

For the first time, it seems as though it just registered that you’re speaking to RM of BTS.

There’s a nervousness about you now, as you glance to the side, and Namjoon finds this strange. He’s not trying to sound like an ass thinking that many others would jump at the offer – or be bold enough to demand it first – it’s simply the truth.

He finds your consideration refreshing, though, and he waits patiently for you to make up your mind. You pull your bottom lip between your teeth and Namjoon backtracks, a hand coming up to rub at the back of his neck.

“It’s okay if you don’t want to.” Namjoon says, putting up a hand. Despite who he is in the eyes of the public; he’s still a man. A man you’ve only spoken to for a half hour who’s now asking for your number, Namjoon would think very hard about it if he were in your shoes, too.

“I don’t meet a lot of people like you, and I thought it would be nice if we spoke often, but if that’s not cool, that’s okay.”

You shake your head, “No... it’s okay. I just...Are you sure? I don’t want to put you in any difficult spots, or myself for that matter...”

You’re surprisingly calm, looking more wary than anything else, and Namjoon takes that as a good sign. “I’m sure, don’t worry.” He smiles and pulls his phone out of the pocket of his jeans; he unlocks it with a press of his thumb and hands it over to you.

You fumble a little with the device, fingers tapping at the number pads quickly before handing it back to him. He shoots you a quick text, a simple ‘Hi :”)' before he was pocketing his phone again, waving and making his way out the café door.

(little teaser for a fic i’m working on, just cus i’m really enjoying writing it and can’t wait to share!)

Jungkook tried his hardest to only ever be happy for Namjoon, but there were still times when he was jealous to the point of maliciousness . He was just a competitive person by nature, and since he hadn’t grown up with Namjoon in his family, he hadn’t fully adjusted to seeing him as a step-brother and not just some other guy in his twenties.

He always tried to be respectful to you, too. To force himself to see you as a potential future sister-in-law and not just the attractive woman you clearly are.

But along with constantly being around you two, forced to witness your perfection together as a couple, Jungkook was currently having a dry spell concerning his own sex life. He’d been in a long term relationship with his high school sweetheart until she moved away for an internship halfway through their time as college students. In the two years since then, the whole time you and Joon were together, he’d been single. It definitely didn’t help his case in terms of fighting off jealousy.

And now, after seeing those pictures…. he knew he’d never not think of Namjoon with pure envy, and he’d definitely never be able to see you as a sister that he loved strictly in a familial and platonic sense.

"What's your fucking problem? I ALWAYS tell you to talk to me and you never want to let me in. It's like you've put up this wall ever since I started dating Namjoon...are you jealous or something?"

Jungkook chuckled, "Me? Jealous? Of Namjoon?" He emphasized each word. "Of what? A fucking nerd? A guy who can't even fucking drive so he takes his bike everywhere? A guy who reads for fun? Can't even fucking cook for himself, he'll burn down the whole goddamn kitchen if you left him in there by himself for too long...Should I keep going?" He hissed.

"Stop it Jungkook," you grumbled at him. Those were all easy jabs to throw at Namjoon, it wasn't fair to him. He was just trying to get a rise out of you and it was working.

He took a stride closer to you, eliminating the distance. He was so close you could smell the stench of alcohol on his breath mixed in with his cologne. Jungkook closed his eyes and softly sighed, his forehead leaning against yours. "Yeah," he murmured, his eyes fluttered open, gazing into yours, "...I'm fucking jealous of him. Jealous he gets to spend all his time with you. Jealous he gets to kiss you, touch you. Jealous that he gets to have all of you whenever he wants, however he wants."

I’ve been getting messages about my reading lists (because I haven’t been posting monthly and I really don’t have any excuse for not posting for four months lol). Though most of these have been reblogged, commented on, mentioned, etc. and that anybody can just check my archive and tags for the fics, I compiled them all in this list for easy reference (I refer to these lists too 😊). There was a manic laughter that echoed through the new station. The giggles caused shivers and goosebumps to pass through everybody in the building simply because that laughter was familiar. The sounds were admitting from the little black box that sat on your desk. In horror you and your peers that happened to be close by watch the little black clown that popped from graffiti painted the box swing animatedly back and forth. Everyone in Korea knew this clown and what it meant.

“Mr.Kim is not seeing anyone right-” you push the secretary out your way causing her to stumble on her kitten heels and she watches you stomp your way into her bosses and yours office. The door opens wide slamming against the wall causing the booksvon the shelves to tremble, some even tumbling to the floor.

There he sat Kim Namjoon. He stared at you with his eyebrow raised. Some of the buttons of his black dress shirt were unbuttoned, the glass at his side was filled with brown liquid and even more books and papers laid out messily on his desk. .

With as much force as you could you throw the giggling box at him. The impact smacking him hard on the chest but with his build you were sure that it didn't do a thing. He held it in his hands flipping it over clicking an unknown button, shutting the gut wrenching sound shut off.

“ You told me if I took this story I'd be safe,*

Namjoon sighs as if you were speaking nonsense and not about life or death. “Let's be clear here you agreed to take this story when I only simply suggested it. Besides what makes you think Jack sent this?” He was right.

Maybe your coworkers thought I'd be funny to freak you out a little more since taking on the Clown killer case, still it was a sick joke that you didn't really find funny.

“Jack is locked in a maximum security prison surrounded by guards, and guns. He's not getting out anytime soon.”

The door swung open again and there stood his assistant. “Mr.Kim turned the news on!”

Grabbing the remote he clicks on the TV that was mounted on the wall of his office. The screen lights up showing a familiar smoking building. Your heart began to speed up in rhythm as you stare at the headline

Serial killer Jack In The Box escapes from Hangsang Maximum security prison

The screen flicks again to the dark red writings on the wall that used to be his cell.

The Min pack all take seats around the large waiting area while Yoongi and Namjoon walk to the main desk and speak with the receptionist. Sitting in Jimin’s lap, Imani’s hands go to the hoop earring that he wears and she plays with it. Jimin smiles and kisses the top of Imani’s head as he starts to hum gently. Beside Jimin, Taehyung takes hold of Imani’s free hand and kisses her tiny little fingers. Imani smiles and Taehyung makes a silly face to which Imani giggles and tries to copy him. They go back and forth making silly faces until Yoongi and Namjoon come over and everyone is looking at them while Imani hides her face in Jimin’s neck.

“They want us in room 613. Someone will show us the way.” Namjoon explains as Yoongi reaches down and takes Imani from Jimin. No one says a thing as they are led to a room that has a large wooden table in the center with chairs on both sides. The walls are cream with a pale yellow accent wall. In the far corner of the room away from the table is what looks to be a nesting and play corner. At the sight of the toys, Yoongi sets Imani down and pets her head softly.

“Why don’t you go play, hm? It looks like a lot of fun.”

Imani looks at the toys and takes a step closer to Yoongi. She grips onto his pant leg and everyone frowns. Taehyung wonders if this whole trip is a mirror image of what could have happened when she was given to the HBM. Taehyung shakes his head and squats down in front of Imani.

“All aboard the TaeTae train!”

Jimin gasps and moves to get on Taehyung’s back but Imani giggles and stops him. “Too big! Me wide!” Imani jumps onto Taehyung’s back and Jimin pouts.

“No fair! I want a ride!”

Jungkook snorts, hands Imani’s outing bag to Hoseok and lowers himself onto all fours in front of Jimin, “Bet I’m faster!” Jungkook teases and Jimin sits on his back. Seokjin sighs but smiles nonetheless knowing that the boys are being silly to make Imani feel better. He clears his throat and stands behind them.

“Ready. Set. Go!”

Taehyung and Jungkook start to crawl over to the toys with a speed that makes Imani shout and giggle while Jimin laughs, his eyes turned into crescent moons with his mouth wide open. Taehyung and Jungkook reach the toys at the same time and Jungkook trips over his hands so that Taehyung places Imani down in front of the toys first to make her the winner. Knowing that Imani is now focused on the toys and the younger members of the pack, the other four sit at the table with Seokjin and Yoongi in the middle.

"She was used as bait, in that case." Yoongi dryly explains. "Gives an explanation as to how she survived an attack. Vrax don't eat humans- but other groups use them as distraction to avert attention anyways in case they encounter them along the way." He says.

"That's horrible.." jimin whines, watching how further away at the pitiful fire, Jungkook tries to help move you. "Well, at least she got away.."

"She most likely won't survive." Namjoon hums darkly, having seen you after all. "We don't know how long she's been out here, but her state is more than worrisome." He shakes his head.

"We should at least bring her to another town-" Taehyung wonders.

"For what? So that we'll be excluded from trading because we brought another mouth to feed instead of anything valuable?" Yoongi snaps. "We can't afford that. The long night is approaching, we shouldn't be stopping in the first place.." he argues.

"I doubt he'll give her up like that." Hoseok sighs. "He seems very attached already.."

"Then he'll have to detach himself quickly." Namjoon agrees with his other friend. "We can't afford to care for her." He shakes his head.

Jungkook, meanwhile, is busy fastening some rope around the blankets he'd rolled you up in, in no way thinking about just leaving you here all by yourself. He knows what it's like to be left alone and behind just because you're considered nothing but weight- he won't be letting you feel that. You deserve a place and group just as much as he did, back then.

Your eyes are barely open as you look at him, now all bundled up in multiple blankets. "You.. probably won't understand what I'm saying, but I'll bring you to the carriage now." He tells you. You want to answer, want to tell him that you do, somewhat, understand him- but you're just too tired. You can't really even think very well- as if your thoughts are about to freeze, everything slow as he turns around and moves you onto his back to be carried towards the large carriage.

"Jungkook- do not get your hopes up with her." Yoongi tries, but Jungkook shakes his head as he lays you down where he usually sleeps.

"I'm not. I'm aware of what might happen." He says, shutting the entrance. "But she deserves to have a chance." He worries. "And even if she's too far gone, no one should die alone." Jungkook shakes his head, sitting close to you, Jimin placing another blanket over you.

"…Let's go then, for now, so we don't fall behind any further." Namjoon sighs. "We'll need all the time we can gain to bury her appropriately later." He simply informs Yoongi, who moves to sit up front with Taehyung, to control the reigns and move the carriage again.

And Jungkook watches you with worry, hoping that you won't need a burial.

The hairs on your arm stand up when you see him. Wind lifts the edge of your cloak, making it flutter around you. You watch as he walks down the main street with the other travelers, eyes flicking around as he drinks in the buildings and the crowd of villagers coming to welcome the traders.

As though he senses your staring, his head snaps to you. You feel frozen to the spot, your fingers tightening on the fence as you meet his eyes. They’re unfathomably dark and yet… a tingle of familiarity slithers up your spine. You clench your teeth to stop from shivering, mind flipping through a catalog of names and faces to place why he seems so familiar.

You've never seen him, though. You’re sure of it. You’d remember a handsome face like that anywhere. His long, dark hair is pushed back from his face, revealing a sharp jawline, a strong nose and intense eyes. His lips are red from the cold - pretty against tan skin.

He’s tall. Taller than most men in the village and broad, with strong shoulders and thick arms, though it’s hard to tell underneath his tunic.

The man doesn’t break eye contact. His mouth begins to tilt in what you think might be the start of a smile when Hoseok throws himself into the seat next to you, startling you. You break eye contact, looking at Hoseok who bites into an apple, offering you one.

“You frightened me,” you snap, a little irritated at being distracted. When you glance back up at the man, his attention is elsewhere. “I told you not to do that anymore.”

“What were you staring at anyway?” he asks, crunching bits of apple.

“Nothing,” you murmur, eyes on the flexing back of the man as he helps unload a wagon near the inn. Something niggles at the back of your mind. I know you. “Nothing at all.”
