we cry "the innocent women and children" to appeal to the masses, to try and force their sympathy, but the men and boys are innocent too.

I have seen sons crying out for their mothers, their fathers, their siblings. I have seen them break down at the loss of their families. I have seen them cling to their dead and grieve.

I have seen fathers cradle their dead children, seen them kiss their faces and hold their little hands. I have seen them faint with grief when asked to identify the dead. I have seen them carry their sons and daughters. I have seen them fasting to provide what little they can for their families.

I have seen men and boys digging through the rubble with just their bare hands, I have seen them comforting strangers, playing with children, rocking them, hushing them, even if the face of such imminent danger. I have seen them cry, seen them grieve, seen them break down into each other's arms, seen them be selfless, beyond selfless, becoming something I don't have a word for.

I have seen the men who are doctors refuse to leave their patients, even when they have no medicine or supplies to give them, even when they're threatened with bombings. I have seen fathers who have lost all their children pick orphans up into their arms and proclaim them their child so they are not alone. I have seen men and boys digging pets out of the rubble.

the men are innocent too. the men and boys are being hurt and killed too. the men and boys are grieving too. the men and boys are scared too. the men and boys are fighting to save their people too. the men and boys deserve to be fought for too.

#I don't have words to describe how I feel for the men of Palestine #the things I have seen them do after everything they have been through goes so far beyond selfless #what do you call this? this prevailing goodness and willingness to give everything they have and more? what word even touches it?#I don't think there is one #islamophobia has conditioned us to see these men and boys as evil and dangerous #we see this in how we speak about Palestine #and we need to uncondition ourselves #they're just as innocent and of value and good as the women and children #so fight for them #they don't deserve this any more than the women and children #free palestine #palestine

i wish there wasn’t such a stigmatized view on platonically loving people.

I can’t call people nicknames and pet names like hun and honey without them immediately assuming i have romantic interest in them.

i can’t tell my friends i love them without adding on “platonically” or shortening the phrase “ily” “love you” “love u”

i love a lot of people. i love my sister, i love my boyfriend, and i love my best friend. All different versions of love.

let us love people openly and honestly without it being seen as “making a move” or being romantically interested.

please please please stop assuming that love is strictly romantic, i promise you life becomes so much brighter and bigger when you stop keeping love strictly romantic.

They say that love is blind & damn have I known that’s true, but not till today did it hit me that it’s not just romantic love.

You could see some1 you love happy & all you want in the world is to see them be as happy as they seem; so you never realize they’re faking it.

You could see some1 you love doing wrong, but you don’t realize that bcuz you feel you must enable them. You don’t wanna believe they could ever be in the wrong & so you defend them, make excuses for them, & only lend deaf ears to the people telling you the truths you don’t wanna hear.

Some1 you love could be bad for you but you won’t notice it, bcuz you love them. That must mean they love you & they’d never hurt you, right?? Sadly, no, it doesn’t mean that. Sometimes they will hurt you, abuse you even, mentally, emotionally, & it can even reach the point of physically. But you’re so blinded that all you can believe is that it’s not that bad or that you must’ve deserved it.

Love-all kinds of it-can be so beautiful but it is so powerful. It has a power that bcuz of its beauty we tend to overlook that powers can be used for bad.

It’s hard to believe that since love is so precious it can sometimes be ugly. But it’s blinding & so it’s difficult to see when it’s ugly bcuz it’s always supposed to be otherwise.

It is maybe even harder to believe that even though it can be hideous, the truth is always beautiful. It’s raw & it’s honest, so you can see flaws & things you don’t like but the truth opens your eyes & that’s why you can see all of those things.

@ the end of the day God doesn’t want you to be blind. He wants you to see. So He will give you sight even if you have to take in things you don’t want to see. But it is where love meets truth that He really wants you to open your eyes.
