Doomed

I don’t know what you thought would happen

You stole my heart from the One who rightfully owns it

You became more to me than a measly distraction

I wish we didn’t start something so hopeless

~

I thought that we could just enjoy each other

That we could simply be there as standbys

It didn't occur how far it could wander

Far passed simple hello's, hi’s and bye’s

~

Honestly we were both delusional

Thinking either of us could guard our hearts properly

We thought we could keep what we were strict and conditional

And yet the lines were crossed ever soo suddenly

~

‘Friends’ we called it

What a beautiful excuse

We let our hearts soften

By private convos and meet cutes

~

Now I know we have rules for a reason

Humanity is soo prone to want what’s destructive

I held you close giving my own pointless reasons

Now I see how the decrees are instructive

Now I know that it wasn’t just ill fate

This all happened because we transgressed our paths

I tried to put my feelings above my faith

I should've known that it was doomed from the start.

Note: if you love anything or anyone more than Allah, you’re bound to become heartbroken; destined even. Don’t make that mistake.

Trying

Today I failed,

To keep quiet.

The words I spoke hurriedly, derailed.

It would have been better if I just kept silent.

~ Yesterday I failed,

At loving myself.

I was constantly picking at my nails,

And every detail of everything else.

~

Tomorrow I might fail,

At loving you.

Wanting so desperately for our ship to sail,

I might just end up hurting you.

~ Everyday I fail,

At being perfect.

Every day is the same tale,

The same mistakes, the same constant defect.

~ There’s not a day I haven’t failed,

Not one moment have I been perfect and inspiring,

And yet here I am writing another tale,

Here I am, always trying.

This took me so long to reply to and I'm sorry, I've just been a busy bee.

I like how uncompromising I'm becoming of my faith {I think it took me such a long time to get here and though I slip up sometimes I'm grateful I'm more respectful of myself and my beliefs over the need to please someone else.

I like that I love a lot of things and people {I'm grateful I don't need to feel stingy with my love and that I have peeps in my life that make it easy to love them, plus my constantly antsy self needs a lot of hobbies to keep calm.)

I like how my work ethic to an extent { Im a major procastinatror sometimes but even if late, I never allow my assignments of task to go totally undone.

This leads me to me next point. I like that I love learning {I'm that one weirdo in class that actually seems to enjoy the lesson}

I like that I'm in a better place mentally, and spiritually than I was prior {progress not perfection}

so yh Alhamdulilahi that I have enough things to like about meself. @sweetwarmcookies16 thanks so much for the tag love <33

What is poetry?

What is poetry to me?

At first it was an escape,

Somewhere for my sadness to go to,

So it wouldn’t be bottled up in my heart,

Making it unbearably heavy.

A defibrillator were my words,

Writing a thousand sentences a day just to keep my heart steady.

~

Poetry eventually became a megaphone,

For the thought’s i'd kept silent,

The feelings i’d normally disregard,

Because no one cared to listen.

Poetry made my emotions so loud,

That they couldn’t be ignored,

By the world.

~

What did poetry become for me?

It became an identity,

A small peace of my definition,

An inseparable part of my reality.

The words were my soul in little bits,

scattered,

Trying to be understood,

Trying to be heard.

~

Poetry,

Became more than rhyming words and fun,

It became more than just another form of expression.

It became a red button,

I would click,

Every time I wanted to make a change,

An impact.

~

Poetry became something more to me,

Than the words I would simply write for someone to read.

~

I lost count,

Of how many times you’ve apologised.

Tell me you’re sorry,

And I foolishly believed those lies.

~ I stopped counting,

Maybe after the hundredth time,

You told me not to worry,

You told me that you’d try.

~ I'm exhausted,

I've always been horrible at keeping score,

You were everything I wanted,

But in me you wanted more.

~ I lost count,

Of how many times I'd come back,

Because you apologised.

Hello loves, it's international women day and I remember this poem I posted a long while back. Times have changed and so have several opinions but I think it's good to be reminded that whatever society decides to define or acknowledge us as isn't as important as how we define or acknowledge ourselves. Love you all so much and all the great women in my life.

May Allah grant ease to the women of Palestine, to the people of Palestine and save them fro their opressers Ameen.

Woman

A 'Woman' is a property

Society tells us continuously.

A 'Woman' should not embark in things like democracy

Planning things isn't where her mind should be

A 'Woman' is weak,

In the face of danger, all she does is cry and shriek

A 'Woman' is stupid,

In the face of a problem, she is practically useless

~

That is what I've been told

Soo many times

It is written in italics and bold

In my mind.

That is what you all know

Soo many lies

That practically controle

Our lives.

~

Are you not tired,

Of being controlled,

Of being nothing but sexualised?

We're our own foe

Because we actually believe those lies

~

Those lies that control you

That are ingrained in our minds as the truth

Don't be blind

Tell me. Who is a woman to you?

Heart spent

Maybe my time with the pen is over,

The words won't come and I'm tired of waiting.

The series deadlines come closer and closer,

So many drafts undone, I'm constantly debating.

~

It's probably for the best,

All good things come to a close;

An eventual end,

To an avid writer that no one knows.

~

Somehow I will get through this,

Maybe find another passion.

If words will not be my release,

I will find something else to set my heart on.

Note/Disclaimer: This was written from a feeling not a decision. I still write and still plan to but sometimes it's soo difficult to form words, so difficult translate my thoughts into stanzaz but when I do, I'm better for it so i don't plan on giving up the pen. Hope you like the poem.

We all have something we're ashamed of,

Something we're terrified to admit

A part of us we've tried constantly to cut off,

An odd sort of habit.

Maybe it's our wants;

Our most secret desires

Or something much more dire.
